Hey folks, Aaron here. Welcome to another edition of Deeper LOR, a bonus episode that is built to serve as a topical guide to the most recent episode of lore. In this short bonus episode, I'm going to dig into our archive of over 11 years of topics and point out some of the old episodes that might fit well with this week's newest. My hope is that you can keep this spooky feeling going well into the weekend and maybe put a handful of old episodes into a new, more powerful context. And just a note for those of you who really love to dig into these, I put the actual numbers of the episodes I'm recommending in the title of the bonus episode. So no need to take notes or anything like that. It's right there in the name on your podcast app, and that should be helpful. And you can also just scroll through your app to find them with your brain. I mean, that's how things work. So let's get started. This week for episode 309 party favors, we explored the world of bizarre and frightening parties throughout history, because apparently our human tendency toward weirdness even bleeds into our social gatherings. But it's not the first time that we've discussed macab gatherings on this show. So here are three older episodes that should pair up nicely with this week's new one. First up, episode 81, On the Edge.

This classic lore is about a community who becomes united around a family. very bizarre event and how human nature drove them to handle it in a deeply tragic way. Come for my butchering of the French language, but stay for the incredible story. Next, download episode 102, Devil in the Details. This episode is admittedly just a gathering of two or maybe three, depending on how you look at it. Either way, it's a story that's going to leave you very reluctant to stay in the house alone. Definitely worth a revisit. And finally, there's episode 128, a hole in the head.

Sometimes people need a reason to gather together. In the case of this episode, that reason is a dead body. And the group activity, known to folklorists as cruintation, isn't the party game that you might expect. Let's just say this is a touching episode. And there you go, folks.
