Hey folks, Aaron here. Welcome back to another edition of Deeper Lour, a short bonus episode that will dig through our archive of 11 plus years of topics to point out some old episodes that fit nicely with this week's newest.
My hope is that maybe you can keep the spooky feeling going well into the weekend and put a handful of old episodes into a new, more powerful context.
So let's get started. In this week's episode, Lore 314 Hive Mind, we look in a very unexpected place for some truly weird folklore.
the practice of beekeeping.
It might be a bit less scary than some other folk tales,
but that doesn't make it any less fascinating.
And it's also not the first time that we've discussed
the natural world's role in folklore.
So here are three older episodes
that should pair up nicely with this week's new one.
First, episode 166, toxic.
You can't talk about bees without mentioning flowering plants.
Plants that have, for centuries,
been the main ingredients in some truly deadly concoctions.
This story about one of his,
history's greatest poisoners is a thrill ride, so do check it out. Next, download episode 186
Invisible Boundaries. This one is all about our place in the natural world and how a community
might survive and thrive in the face of the dangers it poses. It's an episode that puts
epidemics in a new perspective and offers some surprising lessons along the way. And finally,
there's episode 212 unforeseen. This return to the world of poison offers a unique look at some
truly bizarre practices that no one should ever try at home, all wrapped up in some truly amazing
stories from history. What's not to love? And there you go. Follow up this week's brand new episode
with a trip into the past. Episodes 166, 186, and 212 are waiting for you in this podcast feed.
You can just scroll through your app to find them, or you can tap on their direct links in the
