Are you, do you consider yourself to be a nocturnal person? Do you consider yourself
to be an early bird? I want to make a case today that waking up early is the best way to go. So let me give you three great reasons to get up
early in the morning. The first is that in the morning when you wake up, you don't have nearly
the same level of distraction as you do the rest of the day. When you're in the middle of the day
and everyone is making phone calls, everyone is sending emails. It's that time of day where everyone is going
crazy with action. You're then bombarded with everyone else's wants and demands, what everyone
else wants from you. Now, there are always discrepancies between what you should be doing
and what everyone else wants you to be doing. The morning I love because it's a time when no one else is around distracting you and you get
to get back to the things that are actually important to your life and not just urgent to
everyone else's. The second thing is that for me, 5am means that when I actually start working,
let's say it's 5.30 or 5.45, I can then crank out three hours before I get to nine o'clock.
By the time I get to nine o'clock, that's when everyone else is starting their normal day.
I look at it this way. We all have a finite amount of energy. And when that is up,
it gets much harder to be productive. There's even a concept called decision fatigue. Once you've
made a certain amount of decisions in a day, once you've done a certain amount of things,
your ability to assess situations gets worse because you've used up that mental capacity.
So the point is, once I've done those three hours in the morning, by the time I get to nine o'clock,
I have the confidence of someone who's already completed half their day.
Reason number three, it gives you flexible time. And what I mean by this is buffer time that allows you to screw up before it starts making a big difference to your day. So that's three big
reasons to get up early. It avoids distraction time, it builds confidence for the rest of the day, and it gives you flexible buffer time to screw up.
Take care, my friends. I will see you very soon.
