Starting point is 00:00:00 This is Love Life. I am your host, Matthew Hussey, and I am so glad you're here that I wanted to do something special for you today. Since I get asked so many questions about texting, I've decided to put together a free guide for you called the 9 Magic Texts No Man Can Resist. These are literally copy and paste scripts that you can use in all kinds of situations to get a man to ask you out, to create attraction and desire, and to become the most intriguing woman in his life. Now, I'm going to tell you exactly how you can get your free guide at the end of the show, so stay tuned. First, let's get into the episode. I have an interesting subject today, and it's one that's very close to my heart as someone who has to travel a lot for work. Five tips for not wasting time when you're traveling. Now,
Starting point is 00:00:52 I know that many of you right now will be traveling for the holidays. You'll be going back to see family and friends. You'll be on planes. You'll be on trains. You'll be in the car and you'll be thinking of how do I make this time productive? So here are five quick tips to make sure we don't waste time when we're traveling. Number one, don't make an epic to-do list of all the things you're going to get done. You're not going to conquer the world in this single flight or train ride. So don't even try to do that. All that's going to happen is you're going to face overwhelm and do nothing. Two, actually do something fun. Many times, especially the workaholics among us, we beat ourselves up for watching that
Starting point is 00:01:32 movie on the plane or for sitting and doing that thing that we've looked forward to doing because we think, no, I should be working. I have a lot to do. I should be working. Actually doing something fun, you know, if you watch that movie that you really want to watch, makes it more likely that afterwards you're going to do the thing that you know you really should be focusing on because you'll have felt good about it. You'll have watched something, you'll have got it out of your system, and now you'll be ready to move on to something productive
Starting point is 00:01:58 instead of that feeling of trying to do something productive but constantly being distracted by that thing you want to do. Give yourself that fun time while you're traveling. Three, give yourself less options of things to do. So for example, instead of taking five books because you think, oh, I don't know which one I'm going to read or which one I'm going to want to read, just take one. If you take five books, I can guarantee you, you probably won't open any of them because we get this kind of decision paralysis where we think, oh, I don't know which one I want to read. Human beings are not good with choice. So as soon as you give them those choices, they just, they give up. They go, you know what? Forget it. I'm not going to read at all. If you take one book in the moment you're
Starting point is 00:02:39 bored, you may resent only having one book to choose from, but you'll read that book. You'll go, you know what? I'm going to pick up this book. So instead of giving yourself tons of options on a plane, just give yourself a couple. Four, do tasks that normally you don't get time to do. So for example, I have on my iPhone, I have a ton of lists, you know, in that yellow section, whatever smartphone you have, I'm sure you have your own notepad and you make tons of notes in there, which you make and then you never go back to. Well, I choose those traveling times to go back through those and clean that up and put them somewhere organized. I don't do it the rest of the time because I'm too busy with the demands of life.
Starting point is 00:03:18 But in those times when I'm traveling, that's a great time to do some of those little side jobs that I would just never normally do. And five, work on a passion project that you've actually been looking forward to, but haven't had the time to engage with. So instead of, you know, if you've got these spreadsheets that you need to look at and you're bored out of your mind every time you think about them, you're definitely not going to do them when you're traveling. Because when you're traveling is the time when you need something even more exciting to get you going. So instead of doing that thing that requires double the focus, do something you're actually excited about. If you've been meaning to write a chapter of that novel you've always wanted to write, write it while you're traveling. If you've been meaning to write that business plan
Starting point is 00:04:01 for that business you're really excited about creating. Do that while you're traveling. You'll find that focusing on something you're excited about is much easier and it's not unproductive because of course you wish you were doing that the rest of the time. Now you're just finding a slot to do it in and you don't feel guilty for sacrificing other productive work because the fact is you're traveling and a lot of traveling time is unproductive by its very nature. So those are five quick tips for not wasting time while you're traveling. I hope you can engage in at least a couple of them. And happy holidays, everyone. It's great speaking to you.
