Starting point is 00:02:43 All the cryptos. Yeah. So, Tommy, this week we've got a very interesting guest coming off. She's been making the tour of all the most popular. You know, best for last. Yeah. She's saving the Masonomics podcast for last. And for that, we're going to talk a little bit about, well, Thanksgiving's coming up.
Starting point is 00:03:02 It is. We can say what we're thankful for, I guess. It's really weird, actually. What is it today today the 14th 15th 16th all day today it was all day it was the 16th the whole day today what the um like i get yeah it's the 16th that's basically halfway through the month but it didn't really dawn on me that thanksgiving is next week until i actually looked at the calendar and saw the saw the squares all laid out and i'm like damn this month is uh this month is really moving on us tanner it creeps up on a guy doesn't it it really does uh the days go sometimes the days are long but the years go fast oh am i right yes they do and i don't know if we need to go into the
Starting point is 00:03:43 finer points of that but that is really the case here. Yeah. So we are creeping up on Thanksgiving. And you can't have Thanksgiving without the day after Thanksgiving now, can you? Could say maybe that's the most important day of the year. In some respects, it is. It's certainly up there with the most important days of the year. And it's funny uh there's a
Starting point is 00:04:05 little bit of contrast there because thanksgiving pretty important day for your family and that sort of thing and kind of hold that whole weekend and we've got we've got activities planned like thursday through sunday coincidentally it's also our biggest uh selling event for massonomics of the entire year so i got a lot to a lot to uh juggle there yeah it's it's exciting like it's the the anticipation is building isn't it yeah it is it's gonna crescendo here soon god i hope so if there's no crescendo that would be frightening yes that would be but yeah it's uh it's always historically a very large weekend for us and uh hopefully this year is no different.
Starting point is 00:04:46 We're certainly expecting it to be. I hope so. The other exciting thing, too, was the Massanomics Gym. We had a big anniversary here celebrating this November. So we actually kind of crossed the threshold. I think November 1st is the actual anniversary. Is it the official day? Yeah, we were open for business on November 1st.
Starting point is 00:05:04 Massanomics Gym was open for business on november 1st mass dynamics gym was open for business on november 1st 2015 so this was our six-year anniversary the gym has now been open for more than six years six years that is when it was when i saw that on the whiteboard i was kind of shocked yeah six years really where does the time go that is surprising to think about sometimes it's like the days are long but the years go fast i feel like i've heard that before but i don't know i don't know it's just an old saying no that's the first time we've never said that yeah so six years at the gym that is shocking yeah surprising i don't know would people assume six years would have happened no i mean that's anyone i've talked to at the gym goes oh six years a kid could not believe that i
Starting point is 00:05:49 may i thought maybe it was three yeah boy i if you would ask me when i even started it if i would have thought the gym was going to be open six years from then i would have thought i don't know that seems like a long time and a lot of things like start to start anything and be like well this will be going six years from now it seems like a long time. Oh, it does. It seems like to start anything, you'd be like, well, this will be going six years from now. It seems like a pretty big commitment to say. Yeah. Now it feels pretty certain we'll hit like the 10-year mark.
Starting point is 00:06:14 Nothing's stopping it now. Oh, yeah. Why would that change at this point? It feels like, yeah, all right. It's already got, I'm not going to say like momentum, like it's just crushing, but it's like, hey, this is set a,
Starting point is 00:06:23 this is, you can rely on this. Right. This will be mass and i'm because jim is kind of like old dependable it is though it just it's always there it is always there it never goes away it is uh crazy though i would we've probably talked about this at times but it just becomes more obvious over as more time goes by that at the beginning we didn't have good equipment we didn't have good space we didn't have we didn't have good equipment. We didn't have good space. We didn't have, we didn't have a lot of space. And also the space we had wasn't good.
Starting point is 00:06:49 Oh, like the, the space honestly wasn't like significantly bigger than the room we're recording in right now. I mean, it's probably like three of them put together probably, but like, it's still like,
Starting point is 00:06:59 that's, that's, this is a bedroom in a house and that was a gym. Yeah. Yeah. And we didn't have, you know, that's the gym now is we have so much cool equipment and stuff that makes it so much fun. And at the beginning, that wasn't really like the appealing part of the. No, I know.
Starting point is 00:07:15 It was like, OK, you do whatever. But also it is funny to think about, though, is how much the gym equipment picture has changed in six years. Like at that time, I knew rogue was a thing true i see what you're saying yeah like the standards it is so different standards for what were considered good equipment were so drastically we were jacked for that bench that we had because it was significantly better than any it was just a flat commercial gym like and that was a 12 inch wide that was a homemade bench it wasn't it yeah and we we thought that that bench was amazing we thought it was a game changer and it was a homemade bench uh big joey makes a good point there wasn't even drink
Starting point is 00:07:49 spotters back then so that really was like the stone ages free internet actually as far as the gym goes uh but what what you're saying is very true though like you it happened over time and you kind of take it for granted maybe but at that point in time when like we were buying the first equipment for the gym there wasn't very many places you could go and just be like okay yeah i want to buy like an adjustable bench i want to buy rogue obviously existed then but i even think oh they're nothing like what they are now they're definitely nothing like they're now but i think then they were still really like crossfit focus i think so too because then at the time it's like oh if you're gonna buy a power bar it's clearly the texas power bars and first and then after that yeah what do
Starting point is 00:08:30 you say um i don't know i don't know if the rogue ohio power but i don't think it did i think the option for that was oh you can get like any lyco bar yeah some kind right and that was like 800 which is well at that point that seemed like the most expensive thing like you were literally like buying a diamond money yeah um i don't even know what existed for like a name brand power lifting bar option at that time do you um you know i think oaky was around but you know that was but is there actually an oaky power lifting bar i don't know i saw brandon campbell on his story the other day had something and it was but it was the oaky he goes does anyone actually use the oaky squat bar okay now and i even thought there's an oaky squat bar because they're just known for their deadlift bar aren't they that's what i that's what we we have the oaky deadlift bar uh we've had that for a very long time
Starting point is 00:09:21 probably like five years but i didn't even know there was such thing as an oaky squat bar either but if you go back to that point in time 2016 was there other popular power lifting bars besides a texas power bar i think like you said alico and no i don't i really don't think so so that is just and now you now there's a lot of companies that make power bars. You know, there's. Oh, there, there's almost an unlimited number that, that can do it. Or the, the strength co-plates certainly didn't exist back then. They definitely did not. But even honestly, as far as plates go, it was a much, you, there wasn't like a nice
Starting point is 00:10:00 selection of iron, you know, like the style plates that we like in a gym like that. That actually is a pretty recent thing. Development. That's true. The last couple of years. Honestly, that that's kind of iron you know like uh the style plates that we like in a gym like that actually is a pretty recent thing development that's true last couple years honestly that that's kind of you know you could probably always buy like um what are the brands like the plastic coated ones you know i don't know if like oh like hammer strength made something or um was it hampton was that yeah hampton we hampton uh i'm thinking i can't think i'm kind of blanking on a couple of the brands that were out there on these plastic-coated plates and stuff. Yeah, the gym equipment market is just vastly different since then, though. Yeah, because I don't remember ever even talking about,
Starting point is 00:10:38 even anyone being excited about something from Rogue because it was just such a foreign concept at that time. Right. Titan definitely did not exist. I don don't know did rep even exist then if they did they were so small yeah way off people's right i mean the yeah the equipment market just isn't wasn't like what it is now i don't think that's kind of crazy thinking about like it really is a different world in that respect it is uh like the reviewing the equipment review and it probably goes hand in hand you know garage gym reviews didn't exist you know brandon campbell wasn't reviewing equipment like this garage gym lab didn't exist i it's like all people did then
Starting point is 00:11:15 was just lift what the hell was wrong with people they just where's the fun in that just lifted and didn't really comment on equipment like what the hell yeah they just were concerned about getting strong not the tensile strength of their bars that's how did they get strong in those days well and the other thing is our the equipment didn't really exist also our budget didn't exist at that point in time so we just had whatever the budget was also yeah not yeah but you could also i there was way more of at least locally i could i could dig up way more used stuff than you can now like it's hard to find anything worth the crap used but it is weird though how much the expectation people have that they should um
Starting point is 00:11:57 be able to work out from home like the like if you would you would have told me, I think even in that time, six years ago that someone had a home gym, my thought of a home gym probably would have been like, like an aerobics, right? Like, okay, they have a pull up bar.
Starting point is 00:12:13 They have a doorway, a pull up bar. And if they're lucky, they have dumbbells that go up to 25 pounds. Yeah. And some other gimmicky fitness stuff, like maybe a bow flex or like a perfect pushup or something like that. If people weren't throwing like, and like, yeah like no one did if you would because we know
Starting point is 00:12:29 a few people that have power racks at their house now yeah i remember actually the first big nick at the gym he had i remember you telling me that he had a rack at his home and that was pretty early on yeah probably like that was maybe 2017 and i remember at the time thinking like damn that guy's insane he has a rack at his home. Yeah, I'd say like, you know, we went and visited Nick Tyluke, former. Yeah. But that wasn't like, that's not a home gym.
Starting point is 00:12:53 That was a straight up gym that he had built. Like he built his garage into a gym. It just a little bit different. It wasn't like a, I don't know. And like, maybe that one didn't seem as weird to me because he was also a world-class lifter. Right's like if anyone is gonna have a home gym yeah right since that's a guy that's what place second in the world right yeah it is different than just your average people that are just totally nowadays everyone just has a gym in their home just to work out
Starting point is 00:13:20 at their own pace yeah which is also a recent development in the world of fitness that's true and the world has really changed the world has changed and the gym along with it and now so at the beginning like i was saying we just we liked it because we had our own space and just to not be around weird things at a commercial gym you know just be able to play music yell at each other yeah that's what was honestly what they would play music yell at us each other not be around other people that have completely dissimilar interests to us but now it does get to be a little bit like ah we want all the coolest things how about the fun things the nice things and the shiny thing right things that are painted the right color yeah it does uh and i'm guilty of that you know the longer time goes but uh goes. But that's the fun part of it.
Starting point is 00:14:05 And that helps keep me interested in it for a long time is always being able to upgrade and make more stuff. And I think it's fun for everyone. I think everyone gets excited about it. So I guess with that, though, you know, maybe we should read an ad. Yeah. Maybe you should read a spud one because I can play. You're right. You're right. We've got a recording. Okay. So maybe you should read a spud one so I can, cause I can play.
Starting point is 00:14:26 We've got a, you're right. You're right. Recording. Okay. Well, Jesus, you really put me on the spot here, Tanner.
Starting point is 00:14:30 That means I have to find a spud ad for us. Well, you could just talk about your spud product over there too. You've been using that, haven't you? I could. Yeah. You know what?
Starting point is 00:14:39 Now let's just say it. I'll say right now, and this is a perfect item for black Friday. If someone hasn't have it. Ah, that's, that's a good point. Today's episode is brought to you by spud ink and the bow tie shoulder pain what shoulder anymore that was a rhetorical question what shoulder pain you got it
Starting point is 00:14:55 and spud ink can fix it they've teamed up with donnie thompson to create the bow tie so no matter if you're a lifter wanting to bring pain and injury or a desk worker i'm raising my hand tanner guilty who's tired of coming home in pain after a long day at the office we have the solution wanting to prevent pain and injury or a desk worker oh i'm raising my hand tanner guilty tired of coming home in pain after a long day at the office we have the solution get bowtied and um wow they have uh the i'm just gonna go here i have the formal bowtie sitting right here i'm gonna actually read tanner your photo of the formal bowtie is actually on their website wearing it uh they have three pictures. In the massonomics of that paper. They have three pictures, and you're one of the three pictures.
Starting point is 00:15:29 You're wearing the bow tie. That's my back. It is made in the USA. It's designed specifically for heavy training. The formal bow tie is built from sturdy material that provides greater compression and support, ensuring your form stays correct. It's also perfect for all formal events such as weddings, red carpet walks, and more. I think you should give that a try.
Starting point is 00:15:48 It comes in a variety of sizes, extra small through 4X, so you know it can fit everyone. And it's created by Donnie Thompson, so you know what's the real deal. You can get the Spud Inc. bow tie online at spud-inc-straps.com. Tanner, we're going to have a can here because i'm very thirsty this is not a what's in the can it's just this is just a refreshing but it is a can it is a can nonetheless and we're revisiting our old friend the tart cherry lime i'm excited this is good it is good it is really good i actually had another can for us i think yeah the last two weeks we had these ones i had another can for us i was excited
Starting point is 00:16:26 for us to have it until i realized that it actually has caffeine in it they're very sneaky about a day when we're yeah they're very sneaky about how they label that it gets smaller and smaller i think uh in the gym you'll you'll find next time you go to the gym you'll find a can in your uh locker even i was informed today okay it is It's Big Mason. Big Mason recently joined the gym and I like to call him Masonomics. I like that nickname. Big Masonomics. He said he had a can and I said, ooh, great. Yeah, I'll take that.
Starting point is 00:16:54 And he's like, should I give it to you or should I give it to Tommy? And I'm like, hmm, you really should give it to Tommy. Okay, so you haven't seen it yet. No. I thought you were saying like, oh, he put one in each locker. I'm like, damn it, Mason, you did that wrong. No, he knew. He actually corrected me on it, and I said, you're right. You put it in Tommy's locker.
Starting point is 00:17:09 Let it be a secret to me. Good job. Good job. Yeah, so I told him. And a normal week would be perfect because we'd have it tomorrow night, but we're recording an episode early this week. Give us something to look forward to for next week. That's right.
Starting point is 00:17:23 Old Masonomics. We were talking equipment tanner what were we right in the middle of oh i think we're going to maybe talk about some of the new things we have going on again at the gym as far as equipment aren't we yeah so we just set up the uh rogue um collegiate half monster half rack and we kind of talked about that uh maybe an episode episode or two ago but then now we have the rogue rm6 uh monster rack like a partner to our other monster rack that we're setting up we sold off our last uh older used rack that we had originally started the gym with and we're replacing that so we've just in 2021 we've replaced kind of all the racks in our gym and new rogue just kind of uniform and just so attachments work
Starting point is 00:18:10 across all of them is the idea there and so heights are the same there you get it's stuff that's very like not necessary or like doesn't the joke i always say to everyone at the gym is whenever we get one of these things i always go uh uh this has been the thing that's been holding back my progress exactly like now that we have this we can finally get strong this eliminates our last excuse to not be strong now i can finally get strong now that i've now that we have this seventh eight ninth tenth power bar we can finally get strong that's what i was missing in my training this whole time but that is nice at a place like ours where we do have say these three racks set up and now the heights for the um a the attachments all are interchangeable and b the height of everything is the same whether no matter
Starting point is 00:18:55 which rack you go to you know like i like mine on the on 27 for squat or whatever it is that's the number i was going to say i always forget if i'm i feel like it also depends on if i'm squatting or if i'm using the safety squat bar because that one goes higher for me but it's somewhere in that 26 to 28 inch range i know is but i do just like how it's going to all be uniform you know how that is pretty cool i kind of forget about that part of it yeah so we're selling off the one old used uh power rack that i'll be excited the day that the last piece of that exit exits our door because that thing is so heavy. Just with the price of metal these days, you could probably actually salvage it.
Starting point is 00:19:30 You could scrap it for more than we're selling it for, probably true. Probably. It is going to be cool when you look over to that side of the gym and it is just these banging rogue racks, and they're both red and matching and looking great. I've got some things on the wish list for coming up here in the future. Going to upgrade our GHR.
Starting point is 00:19:52 And I said R. Yep, R. What does a pirate call the thing that he uses to develop his posterior chain? And what's the answer to that joke? A GHR. Well, Tanner, you think it'd be the R's, but it's the C's.
Starting point is 00:20:09 Yes. Upgrade that. I did see Brandon Campbell bought these. Abmat is the company that makes them. Ooh, those really big pads. Those really big pads. Those are cool. Those big crash pads.
Starting point is 00:20:21 Those are nice. Do you know what those things cost? $350 for a set of them that's not that bad not that bad for i think they're pretty high quality and stuff too and i think the if i understand right they designed those for thor he wanted some for log crash pads and i really like those and also like so it might cost 350 bucks but that is an investment of like oh it not breaking the equipment yeah at that point if the equipment's getting wrecked well it's someone is just being way too reckless.
Starting point is 00:20:46 Right, right. So I kind of want to buy those. Because those got to be about a foot thick, maybe even more. Yeah, I would say maybe even more possibly. Yeah, he posted that. That was just in the last week or two, wasn't it, when he posted those mats? Oh, and Big Grant just says they're working on crash pads
Starting point is 00:21:01 over there at the Strength Co. So I said the GHR crash pads. And speaking of Grant, I think now that... Oh, that's interesting. So we're also reading the Discord as we're saying. I guess let this be a point to sell you on joining, becoming a supporting member so you can see all the insider info on the Discord.
Starting point is 00:21:28 So the Discord people are right now, they're watching the podcast live on Tuesday night as we're recording this. And they're all commenting along and there's interesting information that some of them are providing in there right now. Regarding rumors of the... Yeah, so if you wanted to get in on that,
Starting point is 00:21:43 all you have to do is become a supporting member of the podcast. We got a few different levels they're recurring monthly payments it gets you into that discord community and it gets a special discount code that only those people get and uh usually get some previews into new drops and it's just a whole uh family of friends there you know it's just a whole family. Yeah, there's Austin Powers stuff in there right now. But the strength grant that reminds me, the other thing, so once we get this new rack set up,
Starting point is 00:22:12 our other full RM6 rack, part of what makes it look so cool, it's decked out in all strength plates. And they look amazing. Yeah, so I think shortly after the dust settles on this rack purchase and stuff, I think that would be one of the other things too. Like the dust settles onto the rack? Literally stuff i think that would be one of the other things like the dust settles onto the rack literally like what's the this rack becomes a little bit dusty so it actually looks like it fits in at the gym uh then like lining
Starting point is 00:22:33 shine it up again with some straight go plates but to be fair part of why that one rack that we have looks so nice it's because of oh it does it looks great yeah when you get the whole because it's funny how the uh the other one the half rack has the most mismatched plates in the whole gym are on that rack that does get the most bastard plates in the gym you know that corner gets the and it is funny how that does really affect the overall look and feel of that yeah you know it affects your strength over there for sure true uh so that's the gym stuff that's going to go on. Happy sixth birthday to that. Pretty cool.
Starting point is 00:23:08 Six years of memories. Six years still going strong. Maybe at some point in time here, I've been working on maybe get a little gym party together. That doesn't do much for any of you unless you go to the gym, but good incentive to move to Western Northeast South Dakota and join Masonomics Gym. The other thing we're going to talk about with the new drop stuff,
Starting point is 00:23:29 and we kind of discussed this beforehand, and we're not going to specifically say everything that we're releasing, but we did want to give some information because this will be coming out. This is the holiday week. I think most people sit around Thanksgiving dinner and listen to this episode with their family. Let's break the wishbonebone we're 24 minutes in people are probably like all right i'm just getting done with my seconds i'm starting to before we do dessert let's see what the guys at massonomics have to say that's probably what
Starting point is 00:23:55 they're doing right now at the table i would sure think so so we we it's coming up the new stuff's coming out black friday day after thanksgiving 2021 2021 as we record do we know exactly what time the i don't think we know exactly what we don't know exactly what time but we do know that that's tbd yeah tbd and we had is it would you call it our biggest drop we've ever had i think it is isn't it i think it is probably our biggest drop we've ever had um if it's not i i just can't imagine what would have uh surpassed this and we so we have some of the things that we have yeah we won't go into details on the designs no you'll have to visit the website to get to that first off people have been pushing us on like the winter or fall time merchandise and here's your chance on that so we have a new crew neck sweatshirt design never before seen on a on a sweatshirt of any kind
Starting point is 00:24:54 we have a new zip up hoodie perfect for those winter months uh actually still waiting for that to come in so i hope that saying that we have that. I'm hoping we have that. Crewneck sweatshirt we already have. So I know we're good on that. We have new joggers. New joggers. A new never before seen design. I mean, I don't think you've literally actually seen the joggers yet. I haven't seen any of this stuff yet actually.
Starting point is 00:25:20 Which is, yeah, just hear you tell me, oh, it looks really good. It looks really good. Joggers or sweatpants. The answer for this is jog joggers although we have been debating the joggers or sweatpants and maybe in the future we'll try sweatpants with a loose loose yeah yeah we'll try to mix that up a little bit but these are joggers there will not be sweatpants in this uh in this particular drop the last kind of folly merch merchandise item that I'd say we have is the something we've never had before, a long sleeve tee.
Starting point is 00:25:49 We've never had a long sleeve tee. The closest we've had is that three quarter sleeve baseball 45 jersey. So yeah, long sleeve tee. I'm excited about that long sleeve tee too. I almost exclusively wear long sleeve tees in the gym. I wear long sleeve tees in the gym almost year round.
Starting point is 00:26:06 For sure this time of year, I always have them on. So I'm really excited about that one. I'll tell you, this is going to be a sick gym long sleeve tee. I've seen it. I've felt it. I've touched it. And I think the squat bar is just going to just hug that. It's a match made in heaven.
Starting point is 00:26:22 I think it is going to be. So excited about that then we have a brand new never before seen t design a really good one i think it's going to be very popular i think so we've been hanging out can we say it's in a color that's not black it's it is not that t-shirt is not black uh it's a very cool color it's a cool color that people are going to like. I already know. I know that that shirt's going to go over well. We're re-releasing a shirt that we have not stocked for a while. We have not had in stock for a while. And it's probably going to sell out very quickly.
Starting point is 00:27:00 Oh, yes, yes, yes. I'm thinking, what the hell are you talking about? We have a limited supply of that one, and it's going to sell out real quickly. That one is black. It is something you've seen before, but it is going to sell out fast. And that'll probably be your last chance ever at that one. Yeah. We have some new koozies.
Starting point is 00:27:14 We have some new stickers. Possibly something new that you can inhale? That would be the other thing is something pretty exciting that uh you could you know sniff uh i'm uh pretty jacked for that one yeah we can't really and it's and i would say it's not uh it's uh we're not re-releasing alemonia yep it's not this is a new alemonia we are not re-releasing alemonia is it a new seasonal blend perhaps it is we'll see on that and there is another lower body garment there hopefully that's in the category of the zip up gym or the zip up uh uh hoodie so hopefully we have a lower body garment to go along with it
Starting point is 00:28:02 aside from the joggers yeah that we already do have. Well that sounds like a pretty bang and drop to me. And is that everything? I think so. There might be do we have some new stickers? We do
Starting point is 00:28:20 have new stickers. We ordered those so long ago I can't remember how those are. So that is most of the new stuff if not everything then there's also going to be sales oh yeah yeah there is going to be sales there's going to be i believe 13 t's 13 13 different designs that are all marked 40% off. No code needed. They will all be 40% off. Damn.
Starting point is 00:28:54 In addition to that, all orders that we receive on at least Black Friday or while supplies last, maybe I would say, throughout the weekend, hopefully up through Cyber Monday, would receive free koozies and sticker pack. Which is a crowd favorite. That is. Maybe even a promotion on lift shorts too, if people are lucky. We usually do have a pretty creative lift shorts Black Friday promotion, so stick to it.
Starting point is 00:29:17 Hopefully we're going to have stock inventory of lift shorts. That is the other question. Because right now we have like none. Yeah. And we've been waiting on this restock on that for quite a while. We've been talking about ruining people's Christmas. But it sounds like we're going to get a restock on lift shorts just in time for Black Friday. I hope so.
Starting point is 00:29:34 And I thought there was one other thing I was going to say. Good point on 40% off. It's going to be such a good deal on those 40% off tees. You almost can't afford not to buy them. It would cost you more in ways to not buy them than it would to actually buy those tees. Yeah, and most of those actually, probably actually all of those will be going away
Starting point is 00:29:54 either forever or for a long time. Right. So if you see anything in that 40% off tee category and you want it, buy right away. That is the time to get it. And there's a lot of limited sizes and stuff already of that so if they if there's something in your size in those buy it right now and the one final thing that i should say too this is what i was thinking of the drink spotter
Starting point is 00:30:15 is still chugging away uh we had a very large stock and that large stock is getting to be a very small stock if you do want a drink spotter, don't wait until Black Friday to buy that. And especially if you're someone that has a rack that requires a 5-8-inch pin. Yes. Do not wait for Black Friday to buy the drink spotter. You're just going to have to suck it up and order that now, and then also order your other stuff on black friday if you're hoping to wait i would really don't wait on the drink spotter because it's also not the simple
Starting point is 00:30:49 restock item that are no like honestly the way it's going right now like if if the drink spot and it looks like there's a very good chance at least one of them if one size if not both will be gone by the time black friday weekend's over um that actually might not be in stock for a month or two yeah i mean it's gonna be over a month for sure yeah on the hopeful side yeah it's probably that's assuming we don't run into more steel prices right and steel availability is so insane right now so um yeah if you think you or a loved one might be interested in a drink spotter and you're listening to this and you haven't got one yet you should probably hit pause right now and go buy one because yes there's a good chance uh you're getting the the last shot at those things true and that's not uh just us doing a sales you know a sales push on those i really think like if you wait till black friday you might get screwed out of the drink
Starting point is 00:31:37 spotter yeah like well just the trend for the last what three weeks um if it keeps up they will be gone before Black Friday. I think we're assuming that the trend will probably slow down a little bit before Black Friday. I think people might pump the brakes just a touch, but they are going to be gone shortly after. I would say there was a PR set today on Drink Spotters 2. I'm not going to name names. One crazy SOB.
Starting point is 00:32:01 One crazy, crazy son of a you-know-what did order three Drink Spotters all at once i saw that at first i went huh and then i saw the name okay i know what's going on here that guy does love prs that's true okay so i feel good about that um so yeah i just make sure you go buy a bunch of stuff from Mathnomics for Black Friday for you and loved ones. Absolutely. You know what else I kind of like and feel good about?

Starting point is 00:34:37 and tommy how's it going what's up tomorrow good hi how are you guys i'm good good and just before uh we say it 50 times and find out we said it wrong, is Tamara right? Because I also heard someone say Tamara. Yeah, Tamara is absolutely right. So you're saying it the accurate way. Okay. Good. We thought we were, but we also didn't want to look like jackasses saying it wrong and
Starting point is 00:34:59 without you correcting us out of politeness. You're good. You're good. I'm from the Virgin Islands, so we say every syllable, Tamara. We're super excited to get you on. It seems like you've for sure been making the circuit of you've literally been everywhere and on everything up to this point, it seems like. I know. I ended up on London News.
Starting point is 00:35:23 Overseas even. That is so cool and um I guess for anyone that isn't familiar with you yet uh crawl out of the rock you've been living underneath of and check things out but so you have like this explosion of uh exposure or popularity after at the showdown here you put together an awesome performance and uh uh totaled i think almost 1600 but the big thing a lot of people are talking about is your deadlift you pulled the all-time world record heaviest ever deadlift by any woman 636 pounds i think is that right yep that's the exact number i'm wondering the number of it's my deadlift setup that got the attention so these are all things we have we want to talk to you
Starting point is 00:36:10 about for sure like that's uh that's an important thing uh but we were fortunate we got to be at the showdown meet and it was such uh you know we had a booth set up there so we were a ways back but like when you're deadlifting we were back there you know standing on our chairs just trying to see whatever we could but that was such a cool electric environment like when you hit that uh last deadlift i think for you guys being there then you know exactly what i'm talking about because everyone's asking like what did it feel like at that moment i think one of the the words that I use all the time is like, it was electrifying because the entire room was like, you can feel the circuits just running through everyone. So it was awesome. Yeah. And there was, there was a few, I mean, there was a, there was no doubt
Starting point is 00:36:56 crazy lifts all weekend, you know, it's a, it's a, it's a premier meet. There's big things going on, but like, there was a few moments that entire weekend where it was like it was really commanding everyone's attention and yours no doubt was one of those times like people were like what is going on here i gotta see what this is all about and it was awesome yeah i felt it i really feel that environment definitely helped with my lift i added a few pounds i i believe you know there's probably two types of people that's either going to make someone, you know, crack under the pressure or just like, like you said, probably do better than what you ever would have without that environment. Yeah, definitely. One thing, one thing my coach always says, he's like, Samara, you're a game day lifter. And I am definitely a game day lifter
Starting point is 00:37:42 because leading up to this prep, a lot of things went wrong. So I'm so, I'm so thrilled at what I did that day. Yeah. Have you always been the type, like you're, you get hyped, you're pumped to go out in front of the crowd and perform. Has that always been your, your power lifting, uh, uh, feeling about that? That's always been my power lifting superpower because every prep, even for the current, I had an injured shoulder for this one. the shoulder was still a little nagging, and then I had a small knee injury. But on game day, I'm just always ready. My mind's where it needs to be, and I'm just always ready.
Starting point is 00:38:14 So how long have you been competing or powerlifting? And I know you've probably answered this question 100 times over the last couple weeks, but I just want to give everyone a background because from what we understand, it's not that long. Nope. Not that long. The first time finally figuring out what powerlifting was, was end of 2017. So end of 2017, I walked into this gym and I'm like, what are these people doing? They're screaming, they're yelling, there's chalk everywhere. Like what's happening. And that's kind of where I found my coach and kind of started working with him towards the end of 2017 and new years around that time frame 2018 he was like you
Starting point is 00:38:52 want to sign up for a meet and I was like sure of course and then I started kind of training so since 2018 I've been training in powerlifting okay so yeah you hit hit this big total in the 636 pound deadlift and you know, you've been at it for maybe three years then or whatever it is. I just, what we were wondering is what do you feel like your ceiling is on say specifically the deadlift or your total or either of those, but on the deadlift is really what I wonder like this 636, a great lift and I think a pretty big PR for you probably. But it seems like with only that many years into training, you know, you haven't hit your limit of potential. I just wondered if you have any idea where you think that is.
Starting point is 00:39:38 I have no idea what my feelings are because two years ago I told my coach, like, I don't even know how I got to this point. I told him I wanted to get to this point. One of the biggest things that I think I recently shared with you guys, with the world, is that my grandmother passed away in 2018. And she used to love to watch me deadlift. And I think two days after she passed away, I finally, in 2018,90, 490, um, 495 in the gym, two days after her passing. So deadlifts have always been like that emotional lift for me in, um, 2019 nationals. I filled 496. I didn't lock out completely. And I told my coach, like, I will never let this happen again. So I've been like hitting, like deadlifts has been my thing with a vengeance.
Starting point is 00:40:27 Like when I hit a number or when I'm planning to execute a number, I plan to fully execute that number. So I don't know what my ceiling is to be completely honest with you. I'd be lying if I told you what it is. Yeah. So was it your plan to hit that big of a deadlift
Starting point is 00:40:44 at the showdown if you felt good? So actually the plan was to hit 650. Okay. So the plan was to hit 650. I don't know if you guys saw my opener, but I'm still new to this and I made a rookie move. So I didn't wait for the down command on my opener. So although 585 flew, I did not wait for the down command. So I had to take it a second time and my coach didn't want to risk it. So although I knew I was going to go up there and pull the hell out of 585 again, which I did, I knew 636 and 650 would have flew. But yeah, 650 should have been my number ending with. Yeah. Got to have you pretty excited for the next meet, right? Absolutely. I'm ready. I'm ready to exceed that. Well, yeah. So six 50 plus is probably there in the future. It seems for sure to be that way. I, there's a lot of numbers in between
Starting point is 00:41:39 six 50 and the next number I'm going to say, but what people have a tendency to do is think about it. Right. So like, so then it's 700. So that's what I think everyone, even though like people are always too fast to think about that. You know, like I know that that's annoying, probably from the lifters perspective sometimes. Cause like I just did this and it was a huge PR for me. And now like, everyone's already like, uh, when are you gonna everyone's saying that so what are you going for 700 not quite not yet but somewhere close yeah yeah yeah yeah that is awesome is there anyone that's close to you then in that lift like is there uh what was how much did you beat the by? The record was 622. And that was Cece. My girl Cece.
Starting point is 00:42:31 But if you do 650 plus, it's really going to put the... There's someone that's going to really have to step up to try to keep up with you at that point. I want to give it a good little gap so there's some time. That is the thing now. Everyone's getting so good. Do you want to pad that to give it a good little gap so there's some time. Yeah. That is the thing now.
Starting point is 00:42:47 Everyone's getting so good. You do want to pad that to give yourself a little time there. Yeah, just a little cut so I can bask in it a little longer. So what all interviews, like how many interviews and that sort of thing have you done since that meet? Oh, my God. many interviews and that sort of thing have you done since that meet oh my god so i think what kind of jump started it and kicked it off was um when i came back locally fox 45 dc hit me up and i did um a news interview with them a live news interview for their monday morning motivation and apparently what they do is they throw it into a bucket so all the other affiliates from different states can like pick it up if they want and apparently ellen picked it up in la because that's where fox 45 played it and houston played
Starting point is 00:43:31 it new york played it so a lot of the major cities um so then i ended up on ellen um then i was on abc news then good morning america just did an article right up on me i don't know if you guys know already but i'm about to be in sports illustrated in two days i did a that's crazy illustrated so that's dope so that's coming out on the 18th dang yeah that is that's really cool yeah and then london news i talked to them this morning so an article is coming out tomorrow too. So would you have ever imagined that, I mean, you knew you were going to have a good meet. I'm no doubt you were confident in going into it and that you're going to put up some big numbers, but like, had you ever even thought about the fact that maybe it was going to be this wildly popular thing that like everyone was going to want
Starting point is 00:44:21 to hear your story about it afterwards no because guess what i was like i i went home after that so you see the room was electric right everyone was walking up like oh my god you did so amazing this is crazy can i take your picture do you know what you did and i honestly i'm going to be honest guys i'm a little naive lifter because i kind of like i focus on me versus me so every every time I lift, I never really know who I'm going to compete against. My coach knew who I was taking the record from and all that good stuff. Like I have him, he does all my numbers. I just tell him what I want to hit and he works my numbers. So it wasn't until the next morning I woke up and my social, like sports,
Starting point is 00:45:00 sports center started airing it. And then ESPN woman picked it up in ESPN. So I don't think I realized until the next day after I had like 20,000 new followers just how crazy big of a deal it was. And did it actually jump that was it like 20,000 followers in a day? Yes, 20,000 new followers in like one day. It was crazy. I woke up and I was like what is going on? How do I turn off these notifications? Have you been responding to every DM that you get over that amount of time? Oh, God, I can't.
Starting point is 00:45:34 I can't. There's no possible way. There's no way. So, guys, if I haven't responded, please, it's not my fault. I'm 37 with two kids. I didn't even know how to turn off the notifications. I to ask my 15 year old how to do it was is was your 15 year old like is there any jealousy like uh why is my mom like uh famous on social media now you know like oh no oh no this new generation thinks it's cool so yeah yeah uh funny story so she just started high school this
Starting point is 00:46:03 year so she was in gym class. She's starting weight training and her coach couldn't wait to tell them about this lady that he saw break a world record over the weekend. And she's like, he pulls up the video, shows it. And she's like, yeah, that's my mom. That is cool. Yeah. That's so not jealous at all. that's awesome yeah um so what was el what
Starting point is 00:46:31 was doing the ellen show like i mean that's a really big deal uh that's really awesome like what was that was that was that experience cool first of all i'll be honest with you guys i'm giving you like all the little tea here yeah that. So this random number kept calling my phone. Right. And I'm like, what is this? Because I kept getting so much calls from so many different directions, so many DMs and things of that nature. I'm like, are people getting my number online? Like I'm calling me.
Starting point is 00:46:57 So I let it go to voicemail. No voicemail. They call back like an hour later. I'm busy with my son, so I don't answer. And I finally pick up at like 6 22 at night after it's been calling me all day and i'm like hello and they're like hey this is trey from the ellen degenera show how are you and you're like um what did you think it was real oh these prank callers are getting no at first no i did not think it was real but i was
Starting point is 00:47:21 like well what's your last name so i google the person's last name quickly and it says producer on the ellen degenera show so i knew it was real um and it moved really fast too so the experience moved fast because that same day they were like well can you jump on on a zoom call um at like seven o'clock p.m and i'm like sure so then they were telling me all right well i'm the producer we have to pitch it to ellen we're gonna show her this video and we're gonna call you back in two days and i'm like so i have to wait 48 hours to know um so then they call me back and they're just shooting the shit right and then he's like yeah ellen wants to meet you after like talking for 20 minutes again um and then that's when the whirlwind kind of started because explaining powerlifting to people that are not in the powerlifting world is like brain surgery so yeah so i had to help
Starting point is 00:48:14 them like figure out who they would reach out to to get um like the bars um so texas um bars they sent all the bars and everything and most of the things of that nature um to the ellen show for me right away um yeah they donated those bars so that was just awesome and they're mailing it to back to me oh nice cool yeah so um being on the show the entire crew made me feel like a celebrity um they had my name on the room on the dressing room door ellen was absolutely fantastic i felt like her blue eyes were looking into my soul great experience um and then finally deadlifting on the show was a great experience too so it was just awesome for the world to see what power lifters can do you know what i mean did you pull 585 on the show i pulled 585 cold because i
Starting point is 00:49:06 got warmed up at 9 a.m went to my dressing room didn't see ellen until 2 30 the bar was set with 495 pull that and then i pulled 585 cold how did that how did it feel at the time i mean did i didn't feel anything at all because it was like it was i had the same atmosphere like at the time? I mean, did you... I didn't feel anything at all. Because it was like... It had the same atmosphere like at the showdown. It was a live audience. So it was pure adrenaline at that point. That's so cool. Yeah, that's awesome.
Starting point is 00:49:35 And didn't they... I can't remember. I don't know who sponsored it. But didn't they award you with some money afterwards? Oh, yeah. Were you... Did you know nothing about that? Okay. No. but didn't they award you with some money afterwards they oh yeah were you really were did you know nothing about that okay no i had no clue that they were gonna give me a fifth they gave me fifteen thousand dollars yeah so it's called tough tape um they use the one that
Starting point is 00:49:59 um i guess the tape that you can tape like the the floor mat and stuff together so it's a gym tape yeah okay so that was dope that's really cool that would i bet that that was a pretty I guess the tape that you can tape like the floor mat and stuff together. So it's a gym tape. Yeah. Okay. That was dope. That's really cool. That would, I bet that that was a pretty odd, like you're on T you're already on TV.
Starting point is 00:50:12 You just pulled six plates in front of you're talking to Ellen. And then they're like, by the way, by the way, here's $15,000. Yeah. And then she hands me this stack of money. And I was like,
Starting point is 00:50:22 what in the world? Did you get cash? No cash no no they give you prop cash okay so at the end of the show in the back they're like oh this isn't real but i'm here for your money could you tell that it wasn't real money or no it looks real yeah yeah that's like yeah that's all really could you have pulled more than i mean could you have pulled 625 if they would have loaded that on the bar at the show uh yeah i definitely felt really good that's what um that's what me and my coach were training for to pull over 600
Starting point is 00:50:58 okay but i don't notice my coach wasn't there so there was a little because with the whole um covid and having to do your test by a certain time. And there was like a lot of COVID restrictions to getting on Water Brothers because of the damn, because of COVID, the pandemic. He wasn't able to make it. So one of my friends who lives in LA, since he was local and didn't have to do like the whole 48 hour quarantine thing, he was able to come um and be back up for my coach not being there yeah oh what a cool experience yeah no kidding yeah it was dope it was definitely dope what what do you think it is um because it is a great story and but and you are you did break world record and is an awesome story i'm like what do you think specifically though just like allowed it to take off as big as it has because there has been
Starting point is 00:51:48 you know other women that have broken world records and stuff yeah what do you think yeah what part of your your whole thing what do you think resonates the most with people is it is it the lifting is it your kind of your fitness journey or do you think it's just all of it i think it's a little bit of all of it. From my setup to the hoop earrings to the attitude when you approach the bar. I think it's me being a mom of two kids, me being 37. For example, in the world of politics, people would say a politician at 37 is young, but in the world they're like, dang, you're old yeah like 37 is old you know what i'm saying yeah uh so i think that kind of plays a role in it um and then just also not being in it
Starting point is 00:52:34 that long um is definitely what the one of the things that i think stick out like a sore thumb not lifting that long yeah and i'd say like just from my perspective and having watched you know most of these interviews and stuff you're also just like really fun and like have a great personality so i'm sure like had you gotten the first opportunity and it's you know if you're a dud yeah the other places right they're gonna be like yeah we don't want to do this they're like we're not calling this woman right but you know that's what the producer from ellen said so he did tell me he's like listen i was like why me because i'm like dang why am i here like this is so surreal i kept telling people pinch me is this real um and you're here because
Starting point is 00:53:15 we looked at your facebook and we looked at your instagram from years ago he's like i don't even know if you realize back in 2015, you, cause like towards the end of my divorce and all that stuff. And then in 2017, I created my brand, the plus size fitness King and queen brand. And back then I said, I was going to be a legend. Like, I didn't know what that meant at the time. And he's always been empowering. You've always been supportive to other women's.
Starting point is 00:53:40 We look at your comments, like you're always so supportive. He's like, that's why you're here. Not just because you lifted. that's why you're here not just because you lifted that's why you're here you're your infectious personality is we got you here yeah yeah that's awesome yeah that is clearly yeah people clearly connect with that yeah that says a lot about you what yeah what about your setup so we specifically wanted to ask you about this and we've kind of talked about it a couple of times. Where did that come from? Like, is that just like you just that just you did it one day, not no thought to it. And that's just what you do or where how to describe that. So, you know, when my setup started, when I decided that I needed to do what I needed to do to power up and channel and like lock into my lifts.
Starting point is 00:54:26 Because I used to be so concerned about like growling too loud or like yelling or because I'm a very emotional lifter and I need to like huff and puff before I do my lift. So one day, I just decided, you know what? Y'all going to have to hear me scream today because, and I think it happened when I started training for The Kern. The Kern was one of the first big meets that I was doing. And I was excited about the Kern and I had to throw all my insecurities of being loud out of the window. And it just kind of morphed then. So it morphed like, I started doing that about a year ago. So during the pandemic. So I started training in my coach's basement and I had the quiet. And then when the gym reopened, I was nervous about
Starting point is 00:55:06 doing this whole setup you know what i mean i'm like but it's been working for me and i just decided like fuck it i'm gonna do what i gotta do like i'm gonna do what i gotta do to power up who don't like it can just lay down next to it because i'm gonna do me yeah yeah it is iconic now yeah then too yeah i mean some girl sent me a video this one girl she's like oh my god i tried your setup i hope you're not upset i really don't care one time i think i posted in my story that i patented so i better not see anyone doing it and someone called me like how do you get your your um setup patent i want to patent mine i'm like i'm just joking yeah it's like um a michael jordan fadeaway or uh exactly signature move yeah yeah karima do jibar skyhook or something yeah yeah it just kind of it just kind of it just became me i don't even know
Starting point is 00:55:57 really exactly how all of it started it just kind of came together yeah that's cool uh we've got this uh game we play with every guest that we have on it's overrated underrated and we have a special tomorrow set of overrated underrated topics and we'll uh if you're down to play but the way it works we read them off and you just have to decide if each one's overrated underrated and you can now elaborate as much or as little as you want to on that. But the important thing to remember is you can't ride the line. You have to definitively decide on each one. All right, all right, all right.
Starting point is 00:56:33 I'm direct. Yeah, okay. I'll give it to you straight. And I don't know if you can tell, but we're very serious. So all of these topics are very serious as well. So you're really in for it okay overrated or underrated hoop earrings underrated it's powerful put them on and has that kind of been like one of your signature looks for a long time yes okay if they're not on there's nothing happening okay put on your hoop
Starting point is 00:57:07 earrings ladies put them on can you ever can you go too big on a hoop earring yes you can go too big yes so don't get ridiculous guys you think classy. And are the hoop earrings, are you like daily hoop earrings or is it a few times a week? Like how often are you rocking the hoops? I rock my hoops on my PR days. Okay. Yeah. So you save it for the special occasion. I save it for the special occasions.
Starting point is 00:57:39 People know in the gym that shit's about to go down when my hoops are in. Okay. That's good. Yeah. I think you should have an earring sponsor now at this point put that into the atmosphere with all the others have you gotten a lot of like uh a bunch a whole bunch of sponsorship uh or free stuff that kind of stuff come at you yeah i actually got so um virus sent me a singlet for my next competition. A7 sent me a bunch of stuff.
Starting point is 00:58:11 Sisters of Iron sent me a bunch of stuff. There's so much to mention. ESPN sent me a bunch of stuff. So what did the ESPN send you? Just like some shirts that say ESPN on them and that sort of thing? So ESPN sent me like a whole box of stuff like a cool box like it's like one of those fancy shoe boxes so it had like a hoodie in there a massage gun a card um it had like a gift certificate to the next like women's basketball game that's local um things like that
Starting point is 00:58:38 um there are some sponsorships in the work and some other things in the work that I cannot mention just yet. Okay. But I can share with you guys eventually. We'll be on the lookout for that then. Yeah. This is exciting. It's exciting.
Starting point is 00:58:52 Cool. Okay. Next one. And we kind of did talk about this. I have a feeling we know what your answer is going to be. But overrated or underrated Ellen? Not the show, the person. I guess we'll go that way.
Starting point is 00:59:04 She's underrated. She's so sweet. I love her. I love her. Like, I'm going to say this because everyone, there was some like mixed comments. Like, I don't know. Her comments are off on YouTube and her comments are like off on like some of the Instagram posts and stuff because all this shit, like, you know, that viral video that went out let me tell you everyone in the back like i'm a person i read energy okay i read energy i read aura they were happy whose boss isn't like upset every once in a while or something you know what i mean that's a fair point she definitely and her team just seems really excited to be there so definitely i would say she's underrated all right cool okay so all right
Starting point is 00:59:47 i'll ask the question for it and i don't know if we'll need to give more context for this or not but we'll all ask the question first so over is also underrated. But although Phil Collins has huge followers, I don't know if people are used to seeing someone that looks like me listen to Phil Collins music. I think that's what it is. But that is my all-time... I told them to play that.
Starting point is 01:00:24 So that was my reflection. Okay, that's what we were wondering. That is my all time like i told them to play that so that was my okay that's what we were wondering that is my song when i need to channel so every meet i pick a specific song in the air tonight is that the name of the song or what's the yes yeah yeah yes like when the beat and the beat drop just fine did you see that it was like the gods were there they knew that i was about you had no choice but to get that lift honestly of course when the beat drops when the phil collins beat drops like when that like the drumming it was a wrap i was like oh yep see and i'm a very i'm cued to lifting like i lift sometimes without my headphones i lift without music and things of that nature but i'm a q lifter as well so i played that song for all of my prs so it was it was about to go down like it was a wrap before i even walked to the bar i knew it was over yeah so definitely
Starting point is 01:01:18 underrated guys listen to phil collins okay yeah i don't think there's enough phil collins going on for pr attempts out there it's funny we at our we have a mass, we have massonomics gym and we have what are most of our music selection is we have like these five old iPods that sit around that have like various, like eclectic collections of music on them. And one of them has one Phil Collins song on it and it's that song and i have listened to that like in my last meet prep i happen to listen to that several like one day it happened to be on and i'm like i and this is before i had heard you play it and i happen to even think i'm like this is actually a legit good like pump up song to me collins didn't have to go that hard i was like that's actually a
Starting point is 01:02:01 good song so when i saw you listen when I saw that the first time, I'm like, Oh, what an awesome choice. Like, well, this, that I,
Starting point is 01:02:09 I think that's a little bit underrated as far as a lifting jam. Yes, I agree. I agree. Like when you need to, if you listen to the words, it just gets you to where you need to be. We,
Starting point is 01:02:19 and we, so we talked about that too. And we made the comment, if she didn't pick that song, like for it to be on there, that's the oddest song that they chose to put on for you. I know. I think that's what it is. Like my playlist is so eclectic being from the islands and just living here. Like I listened to a little bit of everything so if you get if you put my playlist on shuffle you can be in dubai one day end up in india be in west africa and come back and then come back with little phil collins phil bring it on home that's awesome oh my gosh okay so this is next one is the last one
Starting point is 01:03:02 and we usually typically save the best for last now the more i think about of it phil collins maybe should have actually been last but uh so you're you live in maryland now right yes okay so overrated or underrated crab cakes i'm gonna say this overrated crab cakes because i like crab imperial better okay what is crab i i'm very like so we live in south dakota so we couldn't be much farther from bodies of water that have readily access Yeah, readily access to crabs. Yeah. So it's prepared a little different.
Starting point is 01:03:48 So a crab cake is essentially just the crab meat with some breading, and then you broil it with some butter. So I think a crab imperial is a little bit more sophisticated. They add a little lemon, a little mayo puree, and then they broil it, so it's more moist. Okay. So that's a little elevated crab cake, they broil it so it's more moist. So that's a little elevated crab cake if I might say so myself. It does sound a little more sophisticated.
Starting point is 01:04:11 Next time we're visiting maybe the East Coast or something like that, now I'm going to know to order that instead and be like, this guy's been here before. Put your pinky up when you eat it too. Yeah. Well, that's actually just good advice. Insider tips.
Starting point is 01:04:28 Yes, yes, yes, yes. Awesome. Well, I think real good news. It turns out you passed overrated, underrated. Awesome. I don't think people so good. No, and we're stoked to have you on. This is a lot of fun.
Starting point is 01:04:44 I think a lot of people are going to be excited to listen to this too. And if you've got, now's your opportunity. I know you talked about your brand. Where can people follow my brand is relaunching um it's going to be relaunching before next friday i don't have the exact date so stay tuned good timing queen and plus size king fitness brand on there um so definitely some get your merch get your drip look cute you can even get some hoop earrings on there. And that's pretty much all I want people to know. And you guys continue to fuck it up in the powerlifting world. I'm proud of you. All right.
Starting point is 01:05:35 Well, we think you're awesome and we're excited. I hope we get the chance that, say, we're at the showdown or a meet like that again sometime and we get to talk to you in person. Well, my next meet is at the Ghost Clash. So if you guys are there, I'll see you there. We, I don't think we will be, but we'll be cheering for you from, uh, cheering you on from South Dakota,
Starting point is 01:05:50 at least. All right. Well, thank you. Yeah. All right. You're awesome. We appreciate it.
Starting point is 01:05:55 Thanks Tamara. You have a good night. Yeah. You too. See ya. Bye. Tanner. What do you give her?
Starting point is 01:06:11 She gets both. She gets double cool beans and she earned them she did she earned those cool beans very fun upbeat person she is really fun i mean to me we asked the question but to me it's obvious why it she kind of went as viral as popular she did like listen to her talk and it's like oh yeah she's fun and like laughing and excited and yeah a person you want to listen to right right oh i gotta listen to nothing negative people on tv all day i don't need any more of that yes and then plus she happens to be you know the strongest super strong on top of that yeah yeah yeah so that gets that gets her like foot in the door and then the rest of it like opens the door all of the all of the way for her uh that is cool i wish we would have known better but honestly if we would have known better about
Starting point is 01:06:50 her at the showdown meet so we could have talked to her you know we just yeah we just don't know i know but now we know now it's another one that we're like ah we'll be just pumped to be able to see her the next time we get the chance to absolutely yeah she's rocking it though i mean as far as the so she's a power lifter and like look at this you know look at what she's doing i still didn't realize the number of spots that she actually said she's been on with all those and yeah an article in the spn sports illustrated yeah oh yeah sorry yeah and she was on espn too but yeah article like to get in sports illustrated on. On the news in England or whatever. Yeah. That is a pretty insane reach. It is.
Starting point is 01:07:28 Actually, by any sports standards. If you're involved in a sport and you're on ESPN and in Sports Illustrated, that's kind of like the pinnacle almost. Right. It's got to be good for powerlifting in general, right? I mean, you know. I think so. And she's a good ambassador for, you know,
Starting point is 01:07:43 like as good as they would come for someone that you want to would want to be out there being a voice for everything i think yeah and it you know i do kind of like that attitude too because she obviously takes it very serious and stuff and like um you know like puts a ton into getting better and improving and hitting her goals and stuff like that. When you get, when you talk to her, you don't get the feeling like it's not like, uh, Jim, it's not blood and guts,
Starting point is 01:08:09 life and death. Yeah. Still, you know, you know, to turn it on when it's time for business. Right. And outside of that,
Starting point is 01:08:14 you can, uh, you can have some fun and just have a good time. Exactly. Which is what we're all about at Massanomics. Couldn't have a good time doing it. Why would you do it? Exactly.
Starting point is 01:08:20 about it, Massanomics. If you couldn't have a good time doing it, why would you do it? Exactly. Today's episode is brought to you by The Strength Co. And today, this ad is being read by none other than me, Grant Brogy, a special, uninvited guest on today's Massanomics podcast.
Starting point is 01:08:38 At The Strength Co., we are committed to American jobs and American products and as a result, have made the world's finest weightlifting plates ever made. Machined with precision and E-coated to perfection, our plates are made for you to pass down to your grandkids' grandkids. That's right. Your great, great, great, great, great, great grandkids can also make these their very own go-to plates. And guess what?
Starting point is 01:09:03 This month only, friends of the podcast get a special savings our black friday sale goes friday through sunday after thanksgiving but for podcast supporting members you get it all month long just use code mass at checkout and save big what else do we got for this episode of we we really hit we really hammered on the uh new drop coming up we did hammer on the new drop uh something that i think i don't want people to be distracted take their eyes off the prize but yeah we got to keep those reviews coming in for the podcast that's a really good point tommy uh we're well on our way on the road to 400 we are that train has left the station and is and is scooting along
Starting point is 01:09:46 at full speed but we don't want the train to lose any steam so we need people to keep feeding those reviews in so we can get to 400 i wonder if we do you think we should read a couple of them as long as we're talking about it so we're down to the we we need 20 more reviews to hit this 400 goal for people that aren't good at math we're at 3 380 right now. 380 right now, exactly. We are really closing in on it with a little bit of a push here, like right now before the end of the year. I think that kind of comes in waves. If we could get a wave going right now, I think we could be to that 400 in no time.
Starting point is 01:10:20 And every time we hit 100 mark on the podcast reviews, we do something cool. Something happens. Yeah, and this time will be no different than... And every time we hit 100 mark on the podcast reviews, we do something cool. Something happens. Yeah. And this time will be no different than. It's usually at our expense, both from a monetary point of view and almost a pride point of view. Yes. Yep. Okay.
Starting point is 01:10:35 We're going to read a couple, though, as long as we're talking about it. This one's from Mr. Pat Bike in Five Stars. He says, to paraphrase WKRP in Cincinnati, ah, they're good. Do you know that reference? No. I think WKRP in Cincinnati, was there a show? Tanner, I'm going to look into that. Okay, I'll keep going.
Starting point is 01:11:01 That reference means something to me. I just don't know what. Okay, next one one this one's from ash broel just started listening five out of five stars i just started listening to this podcast but i feel like they deserve a review if you want a podcast with three guys this is a funny review okay okay i'm doing this yes you got to listen to this one. This is from April 21st, 2021. Just started listening. Five out of five stars.
Starting point is 01:11:28 I just started listening to this podcast, but I feel like they deserve a review. If you want a podcast with three guys who will never split up, a podcast where they will never phone in guests because it lacks the intimacy of in-person contact, and a podcast that would never tell you not to buy their products,
Starting point is 01:11:44 how could you not buy one of their fine hats? This is the podcast for you. The only thing I wish they had was the origin story of buddy caps, the creator of the original Texas power bar. Yes. That Texas power bar, the one that's strong as a house with the best knurling and is maintenance free.
Starting point is 01:12:01 That person has a few hunches. Yeah. This person does it. Yes. Uh, WKRPinnati was a sitcom yeah from 78 to 82 it ran i am not familiar with this at all yeah i've seen my mom watch it before is where where i know that from you know yeah yeah this is yeah i i knew that was in the back of my mind but like yeah okay next one is from one is from Brad Hollywood, five JD power and associates.
Starting point is 01:12:26 This podcast has taught me how to get strong, stay strong and use my strength. Tommy and Tanner will keep you entertained with their uncanny ability to decipher any flavor of piping hot bubble water. They will give you the 10,000 foot view that you didn't even know you needed. Come for the inside jokes and stay for the overpriced lift shorts. Last one from somebody great time passer if your favorite pr song ain't doing it for you anymore turn this on as a way to pass the time in the gym until barry manilow releases another banger all right i like some i like some reviews back in the flow here tanner yeah so we just we need
Starting point is 01:13:07 a push though i think we really need to get some of those five stars coming in uh it makes a difference they say they say that makes a difference right well it clearly does look at us we're living proof aren't we if we we the difference has been made this is the proof look at this all of this can be yours for 380 reviews. Tommy's wearing the Massonomics Raw Power Shirt. I have a Raw Power Shirt on and lift shorts. And that's what 380 reviews will get you. I'm wearing the Massonomics Gym Tee.
Starting point is 01:13:37 Real classic. Personal favorite of mine. It's probably, I don't know if it's got the small front chest logo, but big logo on the back. Snake both of these tees. Excellent tees. Excellent tees. Today's show was also brought to you by Texas Power Bars.
Starting point is 01:13:52 Buddy Caps first started lifting weights in the late 60s and began powerlifting in the mid-70s. At the time, he was working for Image Barbell, building gym equipment. Around 1976, a local machine shop started making Olympic bars for them, calling it the Image Bar. In 1977, Image Barbell became Champion Barbell. It was then that Buddy started looking at the bars with an intent of changing them for the better. In 1979, Buddy bought his first lathe to begin addressing the known issues. In 1980, his passion, drive, and purpose now had a greater mission. Buddy set out on his
Starting point is 01:14:22 own to make what he believed was the greatest bar he'd ever seen and trained with, and the Texas Power Bar was born. It was strong as a house with the best knurling and was maintenance-free. Hundreds of state, national, international, and world powerlifting records have been and continue to be set and broken on the Texas Power Bar. To learn more about Texas Power Bars
Starting point is 01:14:42 and buy one of their legendary bars, visit TexasPowerB bars.com. I think we covered most of the highlights then didn't we, Tommy? I think so. Sadly, uh, it's like they always say the,
Starting point is 01:14:54 sometimes the individual segments are long, but the total podcast goes fast. Yes, that is what they say. Slip the boat. The common saying it's in that, in that regard is how they say that. Yes, that is what they say. Slip the vote. The common saying. I think it's in that regard is how they say that. Yes.
Starting point is 01:15:10 You got it. Okay, good. Nailed it. Tommy, where do they find you? You can find me at Tomahawk underscore D. You can follow me at Tanner underscore Baird. Just make sure to follow Mastonomics at Mastonomics. See you.
