Starting point is 00:00:45 would you say we're recovered from the Arnoldnold hangover i think we are i last week i can't say this too often but last week was a bit of a battle uh trying to have some enthusiasm because i was running on fumes yes uh i know that feeling exactly i've actually got a a story we can lead into that uh to go into that deeper i haven't filled you in on it yet but it'll be your time first time hearing it along with everyone else but excited uh it is customary that we take usually like the i don't know 10 weeks leading up to the arnold we start to progressively talk more about the arnold and then i think like you know four or five weeks following the arnold it's a curve, right? Like we just read the Arnold. That was the peak. Now it slowly starts coming down the curve. And by the time it gets all the way to the bottom, that's when we

Starting point is 00:04:07 Thank you, Barefoot, for being great. Ger, baby. How about this weather, Tanner? Oh, my God, this winter. Did you guys have school delayed today? Did I see that? No. Okay, some parts, I saw some areas.
Starting point is 00:04:23 No, it was nice today. It was actually nice today. Well, nice is becoming a relative term. Well it was nice today it was actually nice to well um nice is becoming a relative term well actually here was very nice it was 45 no it was like the snow was melting to you know like my driveway cleared off today and stuff it was like not super windy it was sunny and probably like 40 yeah did uh are you guys supposed to get snow tomorrow i think an inch which that's basically nothing. Projecting like up to five inches. Ah, sweet. Thank God, finally some snow.
Starting point is 00:04:50 And I say, great, we really needed this moisture. I'm really actually more concerned about farmers now in my life. I just think God, we need this moisture. That's what I think all the time now. This winter is really turning into a pretty bad one. It's just not ending like it's
Starting point is 00:05:06 this is kind of like uh this is definitely turned into sort of like a once in a decade at least like maybe maybe worse even just like just the duration like we've there's been more severe winters i think with like more severe storms but the duration that this goes on for and like the continued snowfall is getting ridiculous it is it's uh i'm sick of the snow removal i think we might have made some comments in november about how it was kind of nice and we'll probably pay for this but we for sure have had winter in december january february march there's a good chance it'll be april november you get signs of it i mean that's six months of winter essentially i can handle what old man winter throws at you in december and january and february to be expected once you get started through that you're like no you're not playing fair anymore like you're like
Starting point is 00:05:54 you're taking cheap shots at this point it's like uh almost the end of march there's like a contract here like we shake hands and we agree that we're gonna put up with this shit yeah like the agreement is it doesn't go hard in march still you know we should be getting a break oh boy you know that you always think like uh at least it's march it's gotta gotta go away pretty soon but it doesn't seem to be like going away pretty soon it's i've still just i've lived in sioux falls now for what three months or so i've I've still never seen the ground anywhere. I don't know what this place even looks like. Yeah. I don't know where they're going to put all this shit.
Starting point is 00:06:33 Nope. Don't know where it's going to go. But I'm just glad there's some moisture because we really needed it. That's true. That's a really good point. I'm really thankful for the moisture for Masonomics basement, Masonomics gym this spring to see what kind of hell's unleashed from this. Just bubbling up from the earth. Ticking time bomb that is the feet of snow surrounding everything.
Starting point is 00:07:00 More to come on that probably later. Yeah, you got that to look forward to, I guess. Yeah. Going to give me a few more gray hairs if i'm not careful uh so i gotta tell you what happened last week after we recorded the podcast oh before you go because you have a good story i'll just add to the fact how you did say when i was editing the podcast i forgot you had mentioned you're like you have like a superhuman power you can just fall asleep in seconds yeah, and that happened to be multiple times that
Starting point is 00:07:28 week where it sit down with the baby girl, give her a bottle. And I would be falling asleep within like 10 seconds. And my wife's like, seriously, what's going on? I'm like, I can't help it. I am that tired. There's, it's just, you don't get how bad this is right now. It wasn't tell about like yesterday today that i've actually come around from how how fatigued i was from the whole thing and like this story leads into that actually uh so as we were recording the podcast last night i sat down perfectly fine as we recorded the podcast last week last week a week ago today i sat, no ailments other than being extremely fatigued from the Arnold and just being tired.
Starting point is 00:08:08 I sat down. No, not a pain in my body outside of very, the typical ones from lifting and such, but you'll, if you watch, I haven't watched the recording, but if you watch back,
Starting point is 00:08:20 I start to fidget. I know I was fidgeting more towards then. And I was like putting my, trying to like cross my legs and do stuff I don't normally do because my foot, all of a sudden I was like, it was just, uh, maybe in like the last 15 minutes of the podcast, I was like, my foot hurts. And like, I was like, I don't know what's going on. Did my foot kind of fall asleep? And like, my foot was like throbbing and like feeling worse and worse, progressively worse.
Starting point is 00:08:49 And by the time we were done, I was like, okay, my foot really hurts bad right now, my left foot. And I went to go get up like once we hung up and like to take my first steps in a couple hours because, you know, by the time we sit down until we get done, it's like a three-hour thing actually. So in that three hours when i sat down i had no pain in my foot when i got up i went to take my first step i literally could not walk on my foot whoa and i tried a couple times and i was like i thought my foot was asleep or something weird and i'm like i cannot put any pressure like i couldn't even like limp on my foot I went to my hands and knees and ended up crawling up the stairs and woke my wife wife up and I'm
Starting point is 00:09:32 like something is messed up right now I don't know what is going on and my foot was swollen like the top of it was swollen and red and it was hot and i'm like this was at about 11 later than 11 at night and i'm extremely tired all i want to do at this point is go to bed and we look at it and of course do like google md and it's like oh frick i don't know like uh there's a lot of things about like infections or blood clots and stuff like that. And it was very odd because there was no, there was no trauma, you know, there was no like, uh, it wasn't like anything on it. Right. Right.
Starting point is 00:10:12 When I sat down, like I had to experience zero foot pain prior to me sitting down in this chair last week. And, um, I'm like, my wife was like, you maybe should go to the emergency room, like just to make sure it's not something like severe because it, and I, what normally I would say, no, I'm just going to bed, but I'm like, oh, this is so uncharacteristically odd. Like it felt like I sprained my ankle severely. Like I've had really bad high ankle sprains. It felt like a combination of I sprained my ankle and broke the bones in the top of my foot yeah that is really weird that it actually hurts too that it did i mean i could see if something weird's
Starting point is 00:10:50 going on no my foot's red but uh no i could when i say i couldn't put pressure on it i could not actually walk at all i got my crutches out to go to the hospital like i couldn't put any pressure on my foot like i couldn't okay if there would have been a bear chasing me i would have died immediately like i couldn't damn foot and i like could not have you know if i needed to get 20 feet really fast and my life depended on it i would have died because i couldn't like literally it felt like my ankle had been broken like two hours prior. So I, uh, had like midnight when I'm very tired already, I went to the emergency room and they do, uh, you know, did, did blood work determined. It's not a, uh, not an infection. So that's good. Do, uh, um,
Starting point is 00:11:40 x-rays my foot's not broken. I guess that good like not surprising like i'm like i don't know how this my foot broke sitting down and also the whole time i'm thinking huh so i get hurt now just by sitting i'm like my own body's revolting against me yes i get hurt like it's not just lit not just the lifting and you know it's not the torn acl the torn bicep and stuff from lifting i get hurt from sitting in a chair for too long. Well, podcasting, actually. You were podcasting. Right.
Starting point is 00:12:10 So they did an ultrasound on my whole leg, and they said, well, the blood clot doesn't seem to be an issue. There's no clotting going on. Basically, everything in my blood worked. They were in agreement with you that something looked off, though oh yeah like my foot was like no my foot was uh visibly swollen also you know this is after we get through the thing of um this is midnight or later i look the way that i look with my hair and my beard and I'm wearing the tie dye Huck Finn. I partied with Huck Finn barbell shirt.
Starting point is 00:12:47 So, you know, the first questions are like, he'd party with Huck Finn. That's what it was. This is normal. No, the first questions,
Starting point is 00:12:55 you know, and there's like, do you like, this is not a very, this was an honest question, you know, like asking, like,
Starting point is 00:13:01 have you been drinking a lot? And I'm like, explain the Arnold story where I'm like'm like well like three days ago i'd been drinking more than normal and not even like in extreme excess but explain that and they're like um do you like shoot drugs in your veins and like ask basically just like that and i'm like i'll give in the situation that's actually not an unfair question probably but i I'm like, no, I don't, I never have. And, uh, you know, and I think we get to the point where they're like, okay, this person's probably not lying about any of that. So we can rule out that stuff. And then, you know, I never actually that night I was there
Starting point is 00:13:39 till probably two in the morning, so tired, but my foot, the longer I sat there in the, one of those hospital chairs, my foot was just hurting worse and worse and they'd come in and do something and then they'd leave for a while and i'd be sitting there for like 20 minutes just thinking about how bad my foot hurts and uh you know eventually she said uh we can't say exactly what it is we can tell you it's not an infection it's not a blood clot her best guess was that it is uh uh was my first experience with like a severe case of gout which i don't know if you know what that is um but uh barely just from my wife telling me about it right and it's like a build-up of like i think it's uric acid in joints. And like a lot of people experience in their big toe and that's not where I was experiencing it. So she wasn't really positive that that's what it was
Starting point is 00:14:30 even, but, uh, um, that's what she thought. And maybe after looking at it, that does make some sense, but a lot of times your uric acid levels are elevated in your blood and she could tell that that wasn't the case. So not really positive. But then, so I went, you know, took whatever ibuprofen and stuff, went to bed that night, woke up the next morning, and I could limp without crutches then, one day later.
Starting point is 00:14:56 I could limp without crutches, you know, like there again, if a bear was chasing me, I could have like scuffled away at least this time. Like I could put half my body weight on my foot and it just, it hurt. It felt like I sprained my ankle a week ago or something like that. Went to bed that night, woke up the next morning, felt like maybe nothing ever even happened. Really? It just passed completely?
Starting point is 00:15:18 It was just gone. As quick as it came within two days. One day later, it hurt a decent amount. Like I don't, I couldn't have done a squat the night, the day of, if I would have put a one 35 squat bar on my back, I would have collapsed into a pile of rubble the next day. I don't know. I couldn't, couldn't have done a squat workout two days later. I could have done anything in the gym and like a max out deadlift and it wouldn't, uh, I wouldn't have noticed anything on my foot.
Starting point is 00:15:42 Yeah. So maybe that's what gout is. And I guess what I decided is like, I do not want to get gout again. And gout can be thrown off by like, uh, odd things in your diet and alcohol and stuff. I'm like, well,
Starting point is 00:15:56 we did spend like four, five days on the road of eating. Like we just did shit. Yeah. A week of odd days of odd diet and alcohol. Like that's. Yeah. Wow. shit. Yeah, a week of odd days of odd diet and alcohol. Yeah. Wow.
Starting point is 00:16:07 Yeah. So, and I've never had that at all before, if that's what it was. Like, I've never had that before at all whatsoever. But I don't know. Like I said, if that's what gout is, I now suddenly feel differently if someone tells me they have that. Because I'm like, well, that fucking really hurts bad. Like, that felt like my ankle was broken. But I'm not sure if that's what it was, but oral the story is don't get whatever that was. Don't get the gout. If that's what that is or whatever it is or isn't, that was the oddest ailment I've ever had.
Starting point is 00:16:39 Like in the sense of how, like how, how severely painful it was, but yet how quickly it went away 100%. Yeah, that's really unusual. I guess if more injuries were like that where they just magically cured themselves in about a day, that would be nice about some things. Maybe I am... The fact that they come in that fast is awesome. Now that I'm thinking about it, maybe I'm an X-Man.
Starting point is 00:17:00 You're Wolverine. Am I Wolverine? Wolverine. Is this how Wolverine found out he was wolverine he got gout but it went away really quickly that was his origin story yeah he's like oh it's the gout and then he just recovered and he's like i am i am wolverine i have to be honest i didn't really know even know at all what gout was i thought it was more of a gross thing like maybe like a like a fungal type of thing in my brain when i hear gout i think shingles
Starting point is 00:17:26 and i actually don't know what shingles is either so i can't actually answer that question see the iso those two are relatable in my mind too like where they're kind of like these like gross things that you get but now like that i know about god i'm like oh it's no there's something inside your body and it apparently just affects your joints but there's something about gout that makes you sound like it's this like gross i think it's the way the word sounds is yeah yeah isn't that one adam soundler lunch lady land because she has a bad case of the gout yes yes yes yeah yeah but i would i would associate that with like uh what was what yeah like shingles i don't know exactly what those things are but they all sound gross and like i don't want them
Starting point is 00:18:10 yeah i think they're all bad and you don't want yeah i think you're right yeah like most diseases you don't want them you know yeah uh i haven't been keeping up on the discord but so you know even just scant saying someone experiencing the same thing so that probably is what i had but damn that is a that is a game changer like if that was and i do think it's a lot caused by diet and stuff if that's what like if that's what like drinking beer did or does like beer would be off the table like i would be like, if I could draw a line of like, if I have X, it does that. I'd be like, X is no longer something I have anymore. It's not happening. If eggs
Starting point is 00:18:52 caused it, would you be like, I'm done with eggs? Would you go that far? I would have to because it's debilitating. I'm like, I can't not walk. As much as I want to eat eggs and it's a staple in my diet, walking is still pretty essential for me. I had to eat eggs and it's a staple in my diet, walking is still pretty essential for me. Like, I had to use my crutches, like, legitimately.
Starting point is 00:19:09 Like, I couldn't have gone somewhere without. And I walked into the hospital. I feel like such a dumbass. I'm like, yeah, something happened to my foot. I'm self-diagnosed. Here's my own crutches. Right, right. But I'm like, I could not have got in here.
Starting point is 00:19:22 I would have crawled through the snow on my hands and knees without these crutches. Yeah. Yeah, that's not good. Hopefully that stays down forever. Yeah. It's just a one and done thing. Yeah. But part of it, I think, like whatever it is, whether it's that or something else,
Starting point is 00:19:38 some of it is just like the extreme fatigue from the Arnold, though. Like you just kind of run your body through the ringer. It does. It just brings out the worst of whatever exists in you somewhere. Yes. So that was if you couldn't tell that's the thing I
Starting point is 00:19:54 had written down foot. That was the foot thing. Alright I'm learning something here. That was the foot thing. That wasn't the only news. Big news this week also silicon valley bank went tits up it did um that's big news in the massonomics world we were we've been really eyeballing that one we've been very concerned about that you know we have someone that's our
Starting point is 00:20:20 banker of choice so it's been really hard on us this week. 16th largest bank, I think. That is kind of crazy, though. And did you read into, I mean, it was basically because, what, people just did a bank run on them? All because they had all their money invested in, like, bonds that were at whatever percent? Isn't that the whole thing? I think, yeah.
Starting point is 00:20:41 Then I think there was a second bank that defaulted. And I think it's because of the panic or whatever that ensues from that sort of thing. I don't know actually the root cause of Silicon Valley Bank, why that happened. I thought it was that they had at like, what, a year or two ago when interest rates were nothing. They were buying, I know financial people are going to be like, this guy's an idiot. But they were buying i know i know financial people are going to be like this guy's an idiot but they were buying bonds at like four percent well now four percent bonds are like you know the interest rates are so much higher yes that they what they can't liquidate or cover based off of whatever that is and someone saw that and people started pulling
Starting point is 00:21:21 assets out pulling money out and then you get enough people doing that and yeah they got a lot of like high high value depositors and stuff like that uh actually one thing sort of related to that that i really liked is someone sent it to me it was a tiktok from i don't know if it was a representative or a senator and i don't know if they're republican or democrat so that goes to how much i don't give a shit about that part of it but it was just a really good TikTok and maybe it was from North Carolina or someone will probably know on the discord they probably saw it but um he just put out a TikTok him talking over TikTok like a well-edited TikTok of just a very simple explanation of like the most layman turns up explanation of what's going on and why it's happening. And,
Starting point is 00:22:08 and I was just thinking, man, this guy has it figured out in terms of speaking to the people from the seat of a representative. I'm like, like in how simply he was able to put it and how eloquently and like by using Tik TOK, I'm like,
Starting point is 00:22:24 they should all be doing this. Like, this is like one of the better things I've seen come from a politician in a long time. And it was just one TikTok video. And I don't know, maybe the guy sucks. I don't have an opinion outside of that. Other than I thought that that was a really good other than he's the TikTok game. Yeah. Yeah. I was like was like, and also this just makes a lot of sense if you're someone that's trying to get people to vote for you that are, you know, under 100. I'll have to track that TikTok down here.
Starting point is 00:22:54 Yeah, does anybody know? I don't know. Somebody would maybe mention it. There'll be 50 people listening that already know who it was. Yeah. I think it was a North Carolina Senator. One of the Carolinas North or South can't keep those straight. Right.
Starting point is 00:23:11 Yeah. What's with taking your States and like calling them the same thing, just dividing by directions. Talk about confusing. How would anyone know which one is which? Yeah. It's just one of them. Why don't they just combine them and make them one state?
Starting point is 00:23:31 What about a little can action? How are you feeling about a can action? I'm feeling thirsty. And we've got enough. Speaking of the Arnold, this one comes to us back from the Arnold as well, right? Yes. Once again, I do not remember who gave this can to us. If it was the same person that gave us the other ones. But this is a very special one.
Starting point is 00:23:50 And how do you say it? Protocol spiked protein drink with alcohol in it. So this is pineapple pump, 8% alcohol alcohol 11 grams of protein um oh yeah yeah protocol is spelled like alcohol you know like it there's and i like on the side of it just a few guys from eerie pa set out to make the most unnecessary drink of all time and they did it yeah eight percent if i so if we crack this thing and I drink this, I'm going to be feeling halfway drunk by the time I go to bed tonight. And your protein synthesis will be really taking off. Fire it away.
Starting point is 00:24:34 11 grams of protein per serving. Per serving. How many servings? One can. Okay. Well, that's why you got to just drink like five of these to get a little extra protein in you would be sitting pretty good um hopefully this doesn't flare up the gout right
Starting point is 00:24:49 oh god what if it's uh by scaring you know yeah i hope it's not spiked protein warning this product's known to cause gout pineapple pump i'm excited this it certainly smells like pineapple pump i can tell you that big pop of pineapple pump i would also matches my shirt i should be on record saying i'm not a huge pineapple fan so i'm not sure if there's other flavors but this probably went to bed my first choice you're not a big pineapple guy i'm not usually a pineapple guy now wow oh wow there's a lot going on there oh man you can definitely taste the booze in that can't you and the pineapple too i think oh wow that packs a punch holy shit that's stiff i think if you told me this is a
Starting point is 00:25:42 four loco i'd believe you because i haven't had one of those for a long time. I think that's how that tastes, yeah. Wow. That is interesting. Holy. The ingredients, alcohol from sugar, water, some other stuff, whey protein isolate, course some more sugar stevia uh monk fruit extract oh also contains milk tanner in case you're worried
Starting point is 00:26:11 this this that makes me feel like this would go good with pizza would it though would this go good with pizza no this would not go good with pizza. I'm not going to lie. Maybe it's just not my vibe right now, but this would be tough. Like, I would need to be partying to get this done. Yeah, I'd have to be really partying to get this done. I can't hold all my punches on this. I will not be finishing this tonight.
Starting point is 00:26:40 No, I won't either. It's not a sipper. It's not a podcast sipper. No, this is not. That's a fair. That's fairpper it's not a podcast sipper no this is not that's a fair that's fair this is not a podcast sipping like i could totally drink one of these just not during the podcast son of a gun and also i'd have to look for a flavor besides pineapple because before i even tasted it i was i was afraid of the pineapple part i really like their marketing and
Starting point is 00:27:02 their approach on this though you know i got to give them kudos for that. The can looks good too. Calling it set out to make the most unnecessary drink of all time. That's the route you go on this. You say, yes, this is ridiculous and unnecessary. But here it is. It's like a drink spotter.
Starting point is 00:27:19 It's ridiculous and sometimes not completely necessary, but you want one, don't you? In all of its 8% glory. Ridiculous and sometimes not completely necessary, but here it is. You want one, don't you? Mm-hmm. In all of its 8% glory. Son of a business. Oof. What do you give that? I don't know.
Starting point is 00:27:36 Probably like a one. You know, because zero seems too low. I mean, it's not piss, but I'd probably give it a one. I don't like, I don't like pineapple. So already if it's a pineapple, it's probably going to get a two and a half at best.
Starting point is 00:27:54 And then you put protein and 8% alcohol in it. And it's getting every one of those is knocking it down to pay. The best thing you can say about is it's not piss well it's not piss if i was to say something positive about this drink it is not piss yeah it's not warm piss put that on the can it's not piss better than piss i was gonna be nice and give it a two. Cause I feel like I never give anything even that low, but I'm going to go like a 1.5.
Starting point is 00:28:32 Although I guess I would caveat it with, there isn't probably, there's probably an appropriate application for this drink. It's just, I could, I'm just not, I'm just not in the mood right now, man.
Starting point is 00:28:41 It's just not there for me. And like I said, I'd be actually, you know what, before I complain too much too much i gotta find out if uh uh if there's other flavors of this and i also think some people would love this you know like this like some people would be i uh i'm glad they're making it someone's gonna do it i'm glad they're making it. Someone's got to do it. I'm glad they are. I just don't know if 36-year-old Tanner at 9 p.m. on a Wednesday night

Starting point is 00:32:17 He finished 13th. He's always very competitive in the heavyweight amateur strongman circuit. competitive in the heavyweight amateur strongman circuit. Big Nick CCA, the agronomist himself, he competed in a powerlifting meet this weekend. He had a 585 deadlift and don't know his other numbers for sure, but he ended up with a 1,615 pound total. That's awesome.
Starting point is 00:32:46 Yeah, that's some big weights. Not messing around there. Okay, then we had a few more people competing too. All right, Big Hatchimal competed at a meet in Arizona, and he competed along with fellow crew member Big Tim. So two crew members competing together at this meet. I'm not sure about Big Tim's numbers yet, but Big Hatchimal did a 4.02 squat, 3.14 bench
Starting point is 00:33:10 and a 4.20 deadlift for an 11.36 lifetime PR total. Nice. A lifetime PR total is never bad, is it? That's moving things in the right direction. That's right. Then two more crew members lifting together in the same meet.
Starting point is 00:33:30 This is a different meet for them. They come in pairs. Yeah. Big hat and big brand competed together also. Big hat. And I like to think that they didn't know that they were competing at the same meet. And they show up and they're like, he's wearing Mass Somics. He's wearing Mass Somics. I'm like, I kind of
Starting point is 00:33:45 recognize you, I kind of recognize you. Then they figure out that they're both crew and they have a jolly time. I know these two got a picture together and everything. It looked fun, looked cool. Big Hat hit a 462 squat, a 308 bench, a 513 deadlift for a 1284

But luckily, we just got to see you not too long ago. Well, it kind of feels like it was like a month ago. I don't know how you're feeling, but we're just talking
Starting point is 00:38:50 like, so I guess what we're alluding to is Big Jake was at the Arnold and he had a booth set up there this year and we were just talking about it. Like, I honestly kind of just feel like I'm fully recovered from the whole trip and weekend now. It took like a solid week to come down from that
Starting point is 00:39:06 for sure it's just like non-stop uh go all day and then i don't know how you guys are but i could not sleep at night so um i don't know if i was just nervous for the next day or what but with it being my first time with a booth but um yeah i was just so tired for the entire week next week yeah and i you're totally not alone in the not sleeping part this year was probably the best i ever slept and my my way around that was just stay up till midnight and drink alcohol so you're so tired when you go to bed that you have right no option but to sleep but yeah every other year i'm in your boat where I have terrible sleep for like four days. But I will say like the day during the days,
Starting point is 00:39:53 I don't know if it was just because they're with people all day and there's just adrenaline or what, but I was not tired during the days. It was really bizarre. Yeah, that's true. I that's that is that is the way that that works. I agree. It is odd, but there's just so much going on and it's so fun and you're getting to meet and, and revisit with so many people that you want to talk to.
Starting point is 00:40:15 It just like is nonstop. Uh, it's nonstop fun. And it's kind of, we say it a lot. It's kind of like, uh, your Instagram or your social media or your youtube feed like comes to live it comes alive for a weekend very true which it is so much like that it's odd but so anyways for anyone that doesn't know this you're there on behalf you uh correct me if i'm wrong on this but you you started and you run garage gym experiment and also, uh, you're there for home gym con, you know, you're the main guy behind home gym con also. Right. Right. I run garage and experiment, which for anybody that doesn't know, it's basically, uh,
Starting point is 00:40:59 it's home gym content, but I really see it as like a guide for people trying, trying to grow out their home gyms. Um, you know, post a lot of social media stuff, uh, which ultimately, ultimately inspires more people to,
Starting point is 00:41:14 um, build out their home gyms in a certain way. And then also it grows the community. So if people see what other people are doing, um, they're more likely to start their own home gyms. And just on the back end of that is just, I see a lot of value in owning a home gym. So, you know, just kind of spreading the word in a variety of different ways, I guess you could say.
Starting point is 00:41:38 How long have you been at Garage Gym Experiment? When did you start it? It's been about six years now. So, so it's been a while. Yeah. So is it, do you have a different job outside of that or is it a full-time thing or what is it for you now? Yeah, it's my full-time job for over a year now. It's been my full-time job. And, uh, yeah. So is that, is that kind of a crazy feeling? You know, like I imagine when you started at six,
Starting point is 00:42:12 when you started at six years, did you expect at some point in time that it could even be your full-time job or not? Um, I had big goals for it from day one. No doubt about that. I didn't necessarily think that it would happen, but I thought that it could. I didn't necessarily know how to get there, but I thought maybe if you just kind of start something and learn as you go, it would... I think the biggest thing for me is I thought it would look good on a resume if I could even kind of turn it into something that looked kind of cool. So I think I saw it as more of like a can't really lose
Starting point is 00:43:04 even if it doesn't end up turning into anything. Yeah, that makes sense. We can relate to that on some levels, I think. I imagine, yeah. Especially the part where you're talking about maybe starting and not knowing exactly what the path is, but knowing it's like, if we just keep doing this, something comes of it something comes of it i think right yeah that's the only way to do it yeah so that is pretty sweet uh knowing that it's your full-time role now and uh um is that uh now that that's the case is that um is it more enjoyable more stressful than when it wasn't your main job?
Starting point is 00:43:46 Or how do you equate that now with it being your full-time role? That's a good question. So I would say it is the same amount of stress however that's because i put that on myself um you know like i could certainly do things a different way like i don't necessarily have to put on a conference you know um which is most the stress these days um i think the fear of like having to go back to the corporate world is uh kind of terrifying after doing this yeah for a while no you cannot have my soul back it's mine right right so yeah like like walking back into the office after a few years and being like being like yeah i'm back like sorry right it's like you escaped prison and
Starting point is 00:44:54 the guards found you again i knew i shouldn't have flipped you all the bird and said screw off exactly yeah um so i think i think that would be the most stressful um you know and i have i have some help but i mean i'm still doing i'm still doing some like incredibly tedious and manual things with like uploading podcasts doing the blog writing a newsletter so like while I I don't think there's a better place that I can be in terms of like the gym the home gym equipment space there's still things that are like, I got to go do this tedious work for the next two hours. So, so yeah, I think, I mean, I'm not, I hopefully I'm not coming off as complaining, because it really is a dream. Right. But, but I mean, I'm still like, not there. So I'm still in grind mode,
Starting point is 00:46:00 still working pretty hard. And I think like that. like so yeah I am still stressed sometimes you know yeah and even when stuff is cool like some parts of it are still kind of like work and stuff too you know even when it's your own thing and even when it's
Starting point is 00:46:19 the overall thing is really cool and fun like some of it some of the stuff is still just like kind of work you know right right so this what this was your first time having a booth at the arnold what were your takeaway you know did it meet your expectations fall short or uh what did you think your first year with a booth so number one i definitely learned a lot um Um, as far as like, if I was to do it again, how would I do it? Um, it was a really, it was just like kind of with all things in life, uh, that are like great.
Starting point is 00:46:57 Um, it was also a lot of work. So it was a great weekend, but it was a lot of work. Um, lot of work. So it was a great weekend, but it was a lot of work. I said I learned, but I probably lost a lot of money because it is damn expensive. So that definitely stings. But I think in general, I had a really good time. Like you you said you meet a lot of people that you you chatted with on instagram or or you you've seen i'm sure you guys get this too people just coming up like hey i listened to your podcast or um we've been following you on social media for years and it's like that doesn't happen without um convention like something like the Arnold. So I think that was really cool. And, you know, the relationships that you can potentially get or just that you do get is worth it in the long run.
Starting point is 00:47:58 So, yeah, I think it met my expectations. Definitely made some mistakes. Like I'll give met my expectations. Definitely made some mistakes. I'll give you an example. So rookie move, I asked about loading instructions. And you saw my booth. I had a ton of stuff. And I drive a 2014 RAV4. Um,
Starting point is 00:48:29 and I asked them, I asked the lady if I could, um, rent a U-Haul and unload my stuff. And she said, no. And then like sent me the And then sent me the PDF. So I was like, all right, I'm going to try and get everything in my car loaded up.
Starting point is 00:48:52 I couldn't. So I was like, all right, Thursday, I'm going first thing. And I'm just going to make two trips. I live about two and a half hours away. It's going to suck. So it's going to suck. But you got to do what you gotta do and i get down there and i just see all these u-hauls unloading oh yeah absolutely it's just a free for all when you get in the back it is it's just an absolute shit show free for all it's like
Starting point is 00:49:18 you do whatever you have to do to make sure you get in a spot and like no one's checking no one's double checking anything i mean you could be bringing anything you want in it's yeah yeah and i started pulling in and some guy was like you can't go there and i was like ah sorry first time what do i do and he was like go over there and just like pointed me to the yeah other yeah so that was good learning experience. Yeah. It's interesting too. Like sometimes you got to really be careful who you listen to back there because like sometimes people are trying to tell you to move and it's like
Starting point is 00:49:54 not people working there. It's just like, they just want a better spot. Let's like, no, my truck needs to get in here. And I'm like, does your truck need to get in here?
Starting point is 00:50:02 We got a really big rig. We got to get in. Well, like it actually happened to us this year when we were loading out the guy was like I need you to move and I was like where and he's like well we got to get this truck back up to the dock there and I'm like I we're loading up so you find me you find me a place to go and help me get in there and I'll do it otherwise I'm like he was trying to put me into a spot where it said no parking clearly and I was like no I'm not going there because you're going to get in there and I'll do it. Otherwise I'm like, he was trying to put me into a spot where it said no parking clearly. And I was like, no, I'm not going there because you're going to get in, get your spot. I'll be stuck here where there's no parking. They'll tell me to move. And I no
Starting point is 00:50:32 longer have a place. So, um, that's my experiences. You have to be very like, you have to be like assertive. Like you do. And it's all way more just like you it's way, you're way better off asking for forgiveness than permission with all of that stuff. We've learned that over the years, like you just go for it. And if someone's going to call you out, like the last time we went, we just had a car parked in the dock for so long that they said over the
Starting point is 00:50:57 loudspeaker that, you know, your car was in the way, like they were calling on your license plate standard. But yeah, we've just, yeah, it is a trial and error thing for sure though.
Starting point is 00:51:06 Yeah. Yeah. And it is a trial and error thing for sure though. Yeah. And it is expensive, like you said too, like, you know, booth fees alone. And then, you know, I don't know if, maybe you didn't have to have, I don't know if you had to have internet electricity or anything like that, but they nickel and dime you on everything
Starting point is 00:51:23 beyond just the booth fees too. They sure do, yeah, but they nickel and dime you on everything beyond just the booth fees too. They sure do. Yeah. And by nickel and dime, I mean like hundreds to $500. Not nickels and dimes, like additional several hundred dollars here and there. Right.
Starting point is 00:51:37 They like, they like you. So when you first like look into being a vendor, you're like, Ooh, that price is high, but I think I can do it and then you you sign up and then they're like all right here's more fees and here's more fees and they don't
Starting point is 00:51:53 warn you about those additional fees like the 299 dollars per pallet from a to b move you know which can which can probably which probably cost some companies like 10 to 20 000 yeah yes just to like move in and out which is insane and you get stuck in like this sunk cost um predicament where you're like well i already spent this much yeah right like yeah that's what you start doing and they kind of know that that's the system and they take advantage of it a little bit i think right and they know that most of these like most of these companies aren't like you or i where it's like you know it's mostly like these multi-million dollar companies who are like oh yeah yeah let's just expense it you know it's not like the owner whoever sees how much that costs. It's just part of the
Starting point is 00:52:48 marketing budget. We talk about that all the time. It is fair to dog on them for that stuff. On the other hand, what you were talking about too, you do get this enormous crowd of people that love lifting and gym equipment and all that
Starting point is 00:53:03 stuff. There's some cool value out of it too obviously there's a reason they charge that much no doubt and there's a reason it's full yeah yeah yeah we're just we're just bitching yeah yeah it's business i get it yeah and who are you next to then on one side well one side of you was cabela's i think this year which that was funny yeah and but then on the other side it was uh executive fit i think right yeah and had you planned that of you guys being together was that a coincidence it was more of like i saw he was there okay and i was like all right i'll just go next to him uh i think it was before like any of you signed up or or what but um yeah and um jason from surplus strength provided i knew he was providing both of our racks like you know we set
Starting point is 00:53:56 certain things up so that he could come and deliver those and i knew it would be handy for him as well and plus like n Nate is in the same industry. I've chatted with him over the years. He's a good guy. Um, great guy actually. So, um, I don't care what everyone else says. He's not a bad guy. Oh, and I, and I also, and I also knew, yeah, right. I also knew strength goes right there and I knew their booth would be crazy. So, yeah, I thought it was a good spot. But honestly, it was like too crowded where I was. Like too many people bogged down where you like, they're almost like stuck in a conveyor outside of your booth.
Starting point is 00:54:38 Exactly. Like you're walking through, you're not moving, you're not going to like just slide over and talk to some random people. Right. You know? Right. So was sliding into talking about Home Gym Con a little bit, was that like was your primary reason of being there, like to raise additional awareness about Home Gym Con,
Starting point is 00:55:05 or is that part of it or yeah the prime yeah the primary goal was to spread the word of home gym con i think we definitely helped um and i also thought part of part of the thinking was like if i'm going to put on a conference or convention i should know what it's like to be a vendor so I thought that was definitely a valuable experience that I can share and just knowing a lot of a lot of the people that have signed up for home gym con have never been vendors so I think that helped me as well so what do you say what is would you say the most valuable part, though, was learning how to nickel and dime all the vendors, though?
Starting point is 00:55:49 Was that... I know all the secrets now. That's some real creative ways to do this. No, that's what I don't want to do so that they do Home Gym Con instead of Arnold every year. So what is Home Gym Con? When, where, who? What's the nuts and bolts of it?
Starting point is 00:56:09 Yeah, so Home Gym Con, it's coming up, but it's the first conference that's really ever been created for anybody with a home gym specifically. The people that are going to get the most value are those that absolutely love their home gyms, their equipment snobs, um, that maybe even they own gyms. Um, but anyways, it's, it is April 14th through the 16th in the heart of French Lick, Indiana. Um,
Starting point is 00:56:42 and I guess I can give you a quick little run through of what it's going to look like as well. So, so first of all, there's going to be a ton of gym equipment. So that's kind of the number one focus. We'll have a number of different workout stations with like literally hundreds of additional pieces of equipment for people to test out. And then we have over 30 vendors right now, still growing. Surprisingly, people are still signing up this late. But we'll have over 30 vendors showcasing their gym equipment. And we have some pretty solid names like Rep, Bells of Steel, names like rep um bells of steel um ab mat bridge built surplus strength um true form just signed on oh yeah um something else that's pretty cool is there's a number of companies have like
Starting point is 00:57:37 geared geared up for this and they're actually releasing products at home gym con so like surplus strength and bridge built like i mentioned donnie thompson's actually releasing products at home gym con so like surplus strength and bridge built like i mentioned donnie thompson's actually releasing a new product at home gym con which should be pretty epic um so and then there's like there's a lot of like um you know made in America, custom fabricators, uh, coming, um, or they have like more niche products and it's a really good place for them to showcase what they have as opposed to like something where the, something at the Arnold where, you know, if you look at the crowd, it's mostly like in general, it's mostly like, um, you knowers um in their like 20s so it's not necessarily like the ideal crowd for like somebody a lot of these companies um so yeah a lot of equipment we'll also
Starting point is 00:58:36 have a lot of like seminars and we're also doing live podcasts there. So have some people like Chad Wesley Smith. He's going to do a presentation. Matt Wenning. Will Fleming, Masters Weightlifting World Champion. Matt Vincent has just signed up to do some stuff. Not dead yet. We'll be there as well. We'll do some.
Starting point is 00:59:08 Those old sons of bitches. Taking our T-shirt sales. Yeah, they are. Yes, they sure are. Starting to feel worse and worse about us not being there all of a sudden. Hey, it's not. It's not too late. It's not too late.
Starting point is 00:59:22 There's still some space. I might charge you like quadruple but um that's the game though that's how it goes no i would not i would not um but yeah so a lot of cool stuff going on constantly throughout the day uh there's going to be a ton of giveaways. A lot of the companies that couldn't come offered up some giveaways. It seems like most of the companies that are there are going to be offering giveaways.
Starting point is 00:59:54 There will literally be tens of thousands of dollars worth of giveaways here as well. We have a lot of vendors. We have seminars. We also have, like, for the premium ticket purchasers and vendors,
Starting point is 01:00:12 we're going to have some nice meals together in the evenings. Hopefully some people can kind of just chill out and relax, have a good time with each other. So let's see. Am I missing anything? No. So that's about it. I'll just also mention it's in French Lick.
Starting point is 01:00:37 A lot of you might be like, where's French Lick? But I understand it's not something that a lot of people are going to fly to, but it's driving distance for many people within the Midwest. And really chose this location because it resort, which is connected to the exhibition hall, which also is connected to a casino, which is there's also like restaurants and there's like pool. There's like, yeah, so it's a it's a place where for the home gym community to get together and stay together. Whereas like, you know, you were just in Columbus. You had to deal with some traffic. You had to deal with quite a bit of walking. If you didn't get in the convention, um, you like, even if you flew in from the airport, you had to probably drive 45 minutes, you know, it's, it's,
Starting point is 01:01:39 um, it's a, it's a little bit of a different vibe than your standard convention as well. So there. Hopefully I didn't get too salesy on you, but that's the general pitch. That's good. One concern I have, I guess, without our presence there, though, I'm worried that there's going to be
Starting point is 01:01:58 an extreme lack of awareness, generally speaking, when it comes to beverage safety with all these home gym people. I'm worried if we're not there to spread the message of drink safety. If not us, then who? Right, right. I just picture a lot of spilled drinks at home gym con without us there,
Starting point is 01:02:22 so I'm a little worried about that. That's like the one hole in the whole thing i think other than that it seems really good yeah that's it's if we had more drink spotters it would definitely probably draw a larger crowd and they'd also be safer so we'll have to figure something out we'll have to talk to you though we do have a new product coming out at hopefully at the tail end of this month. So maybe we, is there still time to send you more,
Starting point is 01:02:51 send you something for more prizes? Oh, for sure. Yeah. Yeah. Also the, also the perks of like a smaller convention is, you know,
Starting point is 01:03:04 you're dealing with me. It's not like, yeah. Who the hell is Kristen and what is your job exactly? Right, right. So yeah, very, very flexible when it comes to stuff like that. And yeah, I would love to. Okay, we'll see. We'll get with our marketing department and see if we can
Starting point is 01:03:26 well if sales even allows it first we got to get it run by sales and then then and then you got to get past the vp yeah there's levels to this yeah how long ago did you first have like the first idea where you're like ah ah, we should have a home gym con. Like, was it, uh, six months ago, a year ago or five years ago? Uh, no. So it is something that I have thought about for, uh, years now. Um, so it's always been in the back of my head. I know, like, I know this is something that you can potentially do within your own niche. And it's something that excited me, but it was like, dang, that sounds like an insane task. So I've had a few people over the past few years say, hey, you should do this.
Starting point is 01:04:27 And then I was like, I don't know. And then COVID happened, and that kind of shut down conferences for a while. And it was probably over a year ago, a larger company, I don't know exactly who they were, but you know, Garage Gym Experiment is pretty well known for doing surveys within the community. But somebody approached me and was like, hey, we're probably going to do, we're looking to do a home gym conference, and we would like you to poll your community. And I was like, ah, dang it. There goes my idea. Or there goes something I wanted to do.
Starting point is 01:05:21 And then some time passed like still not here and then um so you know kyle from kaisen diy jim is a buddy of mine big kyle big kyle yeah he uh this last fall it had to have been last fall or last summer and he was like you should do this um and i was like i don't know i don't know and then he like actually kind of like he mentioned it to me multiple times like i don't know he was like i think it could work and then And then I finally emailed the guy who emailed me a year ago, and he said that over their analysis, they decided that they weren't going to be able to, like they didn't think the market was big enough.
Starting point is 01:06:23 And I was just like thinking that I know the market's big enough and I had enough like connections within the industry so we're like I don't think too many people could pull it off but maybe I could just you know, I've been at it for five, six years, I've been doing the podcast with like company founders. And, um, so I had a really good relationship with a lot of people that run companies that could potentially go. So I was like, so I, you know, I don't mean to make it about me um because i had like kyle truly helped push it over the line um but um yeah i just like was decided to go for it then um and then i would say i remember like i went to kyle was like, I'm doing it. And then I think a week or two later, um,
Starting point is 01:07:27 I had like plans and I just like started. Um, I think I put like something on Instagram, like coming soon. Um, and I, I like even went and visited a French lit cause, um, I did, I do, I was aware of like that they did stuff like this. So, um, yeah. And then we just went for it. So it was definitely in the back of my mind for the last couple of years. Didn't think it was ever going to happen though. And then was reminded by Kyle. Um, and then, yeah, just went for it. Do you see it becoming an annual event then?
Starting point is 01:08:10 Or do you need to get through year one before you say that? I can honestly say that already it's going to at least be an annual event, for sure. There's enough, there's definitely a need. And then I would say, like, I haven't received, like's enough, there's, there's definitely a need. And then I would say like, I haven't received like any, like there's been nobody that's been like, even if they know they can't come, nobody's been like, that's a stupid idea. Right. And like, uh, I see the vendors excitement about it. Like, like surely somebody could come in and try and duplicate it um but i
Starting point is 01:08:49 i don't i don't know if you could do it more than at least with this group event most of these vendors i don't think you could do it multiple times a year yeah right right because it's a big deal um but yeah i like just like I said, the excitement of vendors, the amount of people that have signed up already, and then just like in general like interest. You know, I think if you put it on the calendar more than six months ahead of time, you know, it would have been even larger by like quite a bit,
Starting point is 01:09:28 I think. Well, but a big, big announcement. If it's going to be an annual event, everyone, you heard it here. First massomics will hopefully try to come in 2024.
Starting point is 01:09:39 Well, hopefully yes. Bold statement. Bold statement. We're putting it out there. Well, yeah. I mean, I think like if I would, like I said, I've learned a lot. If I were to do it again, I wouldn't do it two weeks after Ursa.
Starting point is 01:09:59 I wouldn't do it four weeks after or six weeks after, five or six weeks after the Arnold. I wouldn't do it the same weekend as FIBO International. four weeks after or six weeks after five or six weeks after the Arnold. Um, I wouldn't do it the same weekend as FIBO international, which is the big international conference. But I mean, still like, even with that, we have,
Starting point is 01:10:16 I have, we've got over 30 vendors. Yeah. It's tough too. Cause there's never a perfect time because there's always like, there's, there's right. Yeah yeah that's hard well honestly i i like decided i was gonna do it in october i didn't want to say like we're gonna do it in a year and then some somebody beat me to it like say oh we're actually doing it in april next year yeah so i did i did feel like there was some sort
Starting point is 01:10:46 of rush yeah and i think at the time six months felt like a long time but in reality it wasn't um i think primarily because i started reaching out to companies like as black friday sales were happening and and they like didn't want to think about april of next year and then before you know it it was the new year but um so it i would say it's all it all like a lot of it has been just like a sprint the last few months um after and i would i will say like i mentioned i had pretty good relationships with a lot of people um when i started reaching out in october i basically got 13 yeses um from vendors and then went on a two month stretch of getting like two months
Starting point is 01:11:51 of nobody so if it wasn't for those first 13 vendors that signed up it would have been like huge panic mode. Right. So, yeah, I can honestly say like if,
Starting point is 01:12:14 like it's already going to be an annual thing. Yes, like we're there, which is pretty cool. Is there anyone, excluding Mastanomics, of course, throws us in the present conversation excluding massonomics is there anyone not going that you'd really like to see there say any any equipment companies or anything like that um i mean i think so first of all i don't i think like i don't blame anybody for saying no like everyone that has said no um it's kind it was kind of like the larger companies who say hey don't have the staff for it or it was because, you know, like if you're a larger company, you have been budgeted out for a while and you can't necessarily like and when it comes to February, you finally see momentum for the conference.
Starting point is 01:13:22 You can't just make a decision about your budget which has already been made for so i understand that and then like you know it's also year one um they have i i was pretty honest like i don't know how many people are coming i don't know i can't guarantee you an roi so um no i don't i'm not like upset that anybody said no but i am really appreciative of all the ones that did say yeah because like i just mentioned there's no guarantee of roi there's no like they're sending employees or they're spending their weekend driving to French Lick. So I'm more appreciative of the people that have signed up than those that decided not to. But yeah, I mean, I would have loved to have Rogue.
Starting point is 01:14:18 Like if Rogue wanted to show the community some love it's more about the community as opposed to showing Jake love. It's like a show to the community that you care. Is a silver
Starting point is 01:14:39 lining possibly of Rogue not being there? Maybe you don't look at it this way but for all the other companies that say aren't rogue fitness is it like is there some positive for them of like you know the big gorilla in the room not being there or don't wouldn't you know or is it just more like a rising tide uh races all ships sort of thing you know that's a very good point. That's a really good point. I'm not sure. I think Rising Tides raises all ships is kind of how I thought about it. But if you're a smaller making stuff in America company and you are releasing a product at
Starting point is 01:15:23 Home Gym Con, it's probably going to stand out more if Rogue's not there. company and you are releasing a product at home gym con as opposed, it's probably going to stand out more if Rogue's not there. So yeah, I think that's a good point. I think, you know, rep came on about a month ago, I should say. And I think most people were excited about that. And I think most people were excited about that, you know, because Rep is killing it. And, like, everyone knows Rep is, like, starting to really challenge Rogue. And it kind of solidified the event a little bit as something. So I think the bigger the better for all but I don't know maybe Rogue's like kind of
Starting point is 01:16:18 a different beast. So yeah I think I mean I would really love for and there's still some companies considering like american barbell you know american barbell has done a lot within like the home gym discord um they are a community they're they're getting closer to the community i would have liked to see companies like that who kind of like want to be part of the community, step up and do something like this. But, you know, they're coming from California. Like, I can't really expect somebody to make a last-minute decision
Starting point is 01:16:58 to come to French Lick, Indiana. I think, let's see, what else? I was surprised, like, that we weren't able to get any, you know, mentioned not dead yet, but they just signed on apparel companies. So, like, none of the apparel peril companies most of them didn't even respond um like i thought that would have been a good opportunity knowing like that crowd is like ideal for a lot yeah i think they're uh they're people that i mean a lot of our listeners and demographic and uh customers fit into that category. You know, it's a big, huge segment of our customers for sure.
Starting point is 01:17:47 Yeah, for sure. And it's just like mostly guys between like 28 and 45, which is a huge market. People that aren't like maybe super afraid to spend some money on things at times. If you have a home gym, you're not afraid to spend money. Right. Right. And you're looking for good opportunities too or you're waiting for like black friday or um i think people are going to be more willing to spend
Starting point is 01:18:11 money at something like this as well uh there should be a good amount of people offering savings so um how about in term you know we're talking about the equipment companies what about in terms, you know, we're talking about the equipment companies. What about in terms of, uh, say, you know, garage gym or home gym people that are producing content, uh, you know, kind of doing the same thing that you do at garage gym experiment is, uh, we talked about Kyle, you know, there's several others that we follow, you know, there's, uh, I don't know, Matt Pendergraft, Kurt Locker, you know, I could continue to name many, many more of those. Brandon, Brandon Campbell, of course, in that group, is there some of them that are going to be there then too?
Starting point is 01:18:57 There's a few, um, and the few that have, um, that are coming, are, like, all in. So that's really cool to have, like, the backing of some. Like, Kurt Locker, he just basically said, I want to help, and then said how he's going to help. And the way he's going to help is monstrous. He was like, I'm going to bring everything I own, basically, for this strongman station.
Starting point is 01:19:31 And he did cold outreach to companies. Rob's been, Rob Vintage Weights PGA has been promoting it hugely. Kyle, like I said, Kyle's's gonna help set up and tear down you know he's he's he's helping as well he's made like reels for it which is just like insane like i would never ask people to do this and it's not really my personality to like ask for a ton of help and i think um for people to just like step up naturally has been has been huge um so yeah similar to like the same attitude i have about the vendors i'm just like more appreciative of the ones that have stepped up you know my um you know adam you know big adam um who i podcast with he's he's you know we're like jumping on he's teaching and i don't know if like no one will hear this but like he's jumping on on his lunch and um we're just like
Starting point is 01:20:43 brainstorming. Sometimes we have good ideas. Sometimes we don't, sometimes we get work done. Sometimes we, we don't, but you know, like, there's been a lot of, a lot of support. It's not like, this is something that I've learned can't be done by one person. So, so yeah, the, the home gym content creators have been pretty big too. It seems like you're saying a lot of good, nice things about the people that are coming, and we just kind of wanted you to talk shit about all the people that aren't. But it seems like maybe you're not going to do that.
Starting point is 01:21:17 Just being too positive, I guess. I don't know. I don't know. Yeah, yeah. I don't know. There was, yeah. I don't know if I should. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Starting point is 01:21:35 Yeah, yeah. Biting my tongue over here. But I will say, I did send a nice, I would have loved for the Garage and reviews team to come um you know they're not coming right they are not coming no no they'll be really cool are they too big for it I don't know their attitude I know um I know it was it was kind of of distressing when I saw this on both Reddit and the Garage Gym Reviews Discord. But somebody posted on the Facebook group, and it was deleted. They were like,
Starting point is 01:22:25 I bought home gym con home gym con tickets and it was deleted and just didn't make a lot of sense. And then like, you know, then like there was a group, uh, probably some, I know some in the,
Starting point is 01:22:38 the, your crew, um, who just like, we're like, ah, that's, that's pretty messed up. Let's just keep
Starting point is 01:22:45 posting about Home Gym Con. They kept posting stuff on Home Gym Con, which was awesome, but it kept getting deleted. Definitely somebody that it was probably a week or so after, um,
Starting point is 01:23:09 they bought tickets and they posted, hope to see you guys there. Um, his name, yeah, I won't mention his name, but, um, and then, you know, your, your crew, some people I know, they all come commented, like commented, like get ready for this to be deleted. And he was just like, what? Why would this get deleted? So I thought that was a little messed up. You know what? You know what?
Starting point is 01:23:33 You need to think. You know what your problem is? You need to add an affiliate code to the referral for buying a ticket. Then maybe it would stick around. So I would have. In all honesty, I would have given them a code to help them share, and they would earn a commission. I understand that's how it works.
Starting point is 01:23:53 No, but I'm saying that as a joke because it sounds so insane that that's what it has to be to promote the message in the community. And also, this is their community too. Why would they not be promoting this thing anyways like i that's an odd that's an odd dynamic i think you know to me yeah i don't know it is what it is um but i mean the same thing happened on reddit and someone posted hey got tickets and then somebody commented a mod they they said something along the lines of i wouldn't normally let this fly um so they they let it fly they kept it up which is cool but like what's the i don't
Starting point is 01:24:36 understand the issue somebody said they bought home gym con tickets why why is it's not like i'm competing against reddit well that's a really odd like scarcity mindset uh to take on that like it's just it's just home gym con against big reviews yeah okay um what about your podcasting because so you how long have you been podcasting now and then also is there just a Garage Gym podcast network? Is there a whole kind of network behind it now? Yeah. So I've been podcasting about a year and a half. And it's been pretty consistent like you guys.
Starting point is 01:25:24 We do like a weekly show, which is like evolved. It's not quite like yours. And it's been pretty consistent. Like you guys do, we do like a weekly show, which is like evolved. It's not quite like yours. It's like 20, 30 minutes. We just go over, you know,
Starting point is 01:25:34 new products, anything, anything interesting we see happen on Instagram or in the home gym community. We do our survey results. And then we usually pitch each other a product idea. Most of the ideas are just terrible, but it's kind of fun to do. And then I'll interview like founders of companies or just anybody kind of within the home gym space or relatively close. And I would say, like, podcasting is so great.
Starting point is 01:26:10 It is. I have so much fun doing it, and it's a great way to just, like, have real chats with people you would never be able to without saying, hey, can we get on a podcast? You know, it's weird to just call somebody that you respect and want to learn from. Yeah. What is it? 1999? Right. Right. I mean, I feel weird right now sitting in my, with my headphones on. So you got, well, let me ask you you this you guys switched to riverside and you still
Starting point is 01:26:47 go with the phone call method why is that we don't use riverside that was oh you don't use riverside we uh we used it that was an experiment yeah we used it as one and we realized it was a hot disaster it just it for what we're trying to do it wasn wasn't working. Oh, gotcha. Actually, there's one episode in there where it's one of our, I don't know. It was the first remote episode we ever did was with Riverside, and it was not fun. So now we actually record video and audio completely separate on both of our ends, and then we edit them both together at the end. Oh, I was going to say it's super smooth yeah like it's it looks super clear uh it's a true double ender audio and video double yeah like like we're seeing each other on zoom right now yeah we see
Starting point is 01:27:37 each other on zoom right now but we're recording totally separately on both of our ends so we have like 17 cameras and going in multiple podcast boards and right on the surface it seems like i mean at to some level it probably is more work but our end result it works pretty good for what we're trying to achieve oh no that makes sense but yeah riverside is super finicky it's it's like you have to have everything in right everything right and then the guests usually are confused and their internet might be terrible yeah so yeah that makes sense yeah um so yeah we have that and then um garage and then we like the network i guess you could call it is garage Garage Gym Radio. So we have the Garage Gym Experiment podcast.
Starting point is 01:28:33 We have Home Gym History, which is done by, I mentioned Rob from Vintage Weights. I like Rob. I hit subscribe. I smashed his subscribe button on his YouTube just this week, and he's been giving me really good York vintage York dumbbell advice through there yeah Rob is just he has a lot of knowledge on the topic and then I'll say he's also a very talented podcaster so you know he's also just kind of doing this every few weeks with his teaching or yeah, with with yeah, he does a ton of research on the topics and the episodes are, are really good. And I really do think eventually, you know, once, once we can get even more consistent and it's just podcasts just take time to
Starting point is 01:29:36 grow. There's definitely some real potential there once the community catches on. So Rob's doing a great job. And then Kyle runs Do You Even Lift Bro, which is kind of an assortment of things. Sometimes he's talking about his home gym. Sometimes he's interviewing people. So yeah, a trio of shows for now. Hopefully we grow it in the future as well. yeah, a trio of shows for now. Hopefully, um,
Starting point is 01:30:05 we grow, grow it in the future as well. Um, so, but podcasting is great and it's different than, um, what anybody else in the home gym space is doing. So we'll definitely probably continue to focus on that. I would quit the podcasting if it was you guys.
Starting point is 01:30:26 I don't see that it's ever gotten anyone anything before, if you ask me. If it wasn't for the podcast, yeah. It's crazy how beneficial podcasting can be, even though you're not hitting massive, massive youtube numbers um i'm sure you guys kind of feel the same yeah if someone's like podcast it's like the most valuable yeah yeah it's like the most valuable number out of all the if you want to call them subscribers on different platforms it's hard to say that uh one podcast subscriber isn't the most important number out of them all.
Starting point is 01:31:07 Right, right. Yeah, that one podcast listener can be so much more valuable than one Instagram follower. But what about TikTok, though? Yeah, that would be the most extreme example, actually, in my opinion. Yeah, you thought it would be the most extreme example, actually, in my opinion. Yeah. Yeah. I mean, the way I think about it is the quality of listeners.
Starting point is 01:31:37 You know, they're definitely higher than people just, like, scanning an Instagram post. Yeah. Yeah, for sure. Yeah. We've got this little game we like to play with every guest that we have on here. Uh, it's called overrated underrated. I'm not sure if you're familiar with it at all, but, uh, we, we have the special big Jake garage gym experiment, home gym con set of topics that are specially handpicked for you.
Starting point is 01:32:01 And for each one, it is just your job to determine if it is overrated or underrated. But one of the most important things that you need to remember is you cannot ride the line. You have to definitively decide if each one is over or under. So if you feel comfortable about those rules, we'll get to
Starting point is 01:32:20 playing this game now. Let's do it. Alright. The rules are important. Very important part of the game. I don't know if you can tell by the way that I explained those, but that is an essential portion of this for us. So, we do not like to bend on the rules.
Starting point is 01:32:38 Oh, I know. I am well aware of this game you guys play. Okay. Overrated or underrated? Jammer arms. Overrated. Overrated because... Overrated because...
Starting point is 01:33:04 I think most of them are just too cumbersome to move around. So if you get them, you kind of just have to leave them on your rack, and ultimately you don't use them as much as you probably thought. And also considering they're expensive, I think most people can do without them. Yeah, I personally never really understood the intrigue of them all that well. And, you know, granted, we have massonomics gym. We're not limited. We don't have, you know, the space limitations that a typical home gym user faces. So we aren't worried about, you know,
Starting point is 01:33:45 like making sure each piece can do 12 different things because we only have so many square feet. So maybe I don't think about it through the right mindset, but I've always been kind of skeptical about those, I guess. I didn't even realize the price part until you said that, and I just looked it up. The Rogue one's $1,100, almost $1,200. That kind of blows my mind.
Starting point is 01:34:04 I wasn't expecting that much yeah it's insane and I'm I'm speaking from personal experience I used to have some and like I said I just either left them up or when I took them down I never wanted to put them back up so yeah okay I would I would say there's potential like you saw our rack at the Arnold there's some cool stuff that you can add to them but I really think if you want to use them
Starting point is 01:34:35 you have to kind of either like be prepared to use your J cups on them and like squat and bench from them or um what was i gonna say or you have a stand like a standalone if they're important enough for you to have and like a standalone stand yeah like outside of your rack like In a separate spot. Like a commercial Jimmy Quinton machine. Right.
Starting point is 01:35:07 Kind of vibe, yeah. Okay, overrated or underrated? Mountain knurling. Mountain knurling. Ah. there's some dramatic pauses in here pause for dramatic effect I'd go with overrated yeah I think
Starting point is 01:35:40 you know that's it's it's not something you want to deal with every day, and most people don't want to have multiple bars. I'm speaking from a home gym perspective. I would say, yeah, you won't find yourself using it as much as you think, although they're pretty cool to just kind of touch and use every so often. But I'll go with overrated as well. Okay.
Starting point is 01:36:14 Overrated or underrated? Magnetic pins or speed pins maybe is the term people would use. I'll go underrated. So just as somebody who has a rack with a ton of attachments, it does make a difference in your everyday use, just being able to quickly move them in and out um so so yeah underrated for me just because i have a lot of rack attachments and are moving them around quite a bit that's fair uh we won't ask you drink spotters i think everyone knows that they're underrated so we'll skip that one
Starting point is 01:37:01 okay last one and last one is always the most important one. It's kind of worth all the marbles. Overrated or underrated? French Lick, Indiana. Definitely underrated. And I think I spoke to most of that earlier.
Starting point is 01:37:23 Yeah. But French Lick is also the resort part that I spoke about, about French Lick, is just a very, very small part of French Lick. The rest is probably something you don't want to venture off too far. But in general, underrated. And pop quiz, who's the most famous person from French Lick, Indiana? Originally from? Yeah, I get this joke like every two days now since I started.
Starting point is 01:38:04 Humble Larry Bird, baby. So you hear that plenty, I would assume. Oh yeah, yeah. Check the Instagram comments. Okay, The Hick from French Lick. Yeah. French Lick, a very interesting name. It is.

That is the biggest problem for us. We're kind of in a rare geographic location in comparison to most of the people that we'll be attending.
Starting point is 01:38:56 Maybe next year, though, you could specifically cater it to us. Yeah. Yeah. If French Lake doesn't work out, have you considered western if French Lake doesn't work out, have you considered Western Northeast South Dakota as a potential option? Oh, definitely.

But with that, us prepping for that, and then coming down off to Arnold, that was probably the tricky thing for us. But even still, if it's it kind of fits in the same boat as a lot of it for us, if it was like half as far as it is, all of a sudden we can make it there in a day.
Starting point is 01:39:37 And like it ends up being like half as many days of a commitment as it is. What what is the drive? It's like 16 hours for us. Probably. I think for you, it's even a little farther. Tanner might be closer to 17 or 18. Yeah.

Starting point is 01:41:36 are excited i think uh you know just my two cents i think home gym con is awesome yeah i think it's super cool uh we actually really would like to be there. And hopefully in 2024, we do find a way to make that happen. And hopefully, you know, we're not alone that, say, you got 30, 40 vendors this year. Hopefully next year it's 75 or, you know, like I hope that's the trend of it. And it just only goes up from here. And we're excited about it. And it looks like you're doing a really good job.

Not in this part of the country at all you know right um and i'm like wow that's crazy and then she goes oh they're coming over to talk to you i think
Starting point is 01:44:11 and it was uh big trevor so uh it was yeah that's that's through usd right yep yeah i think that they raised money for the special olympics or something and we is that what it was donated something i don't sadly to say i can't even remember the specifics i know I think that they raised money for the Special Olympics or something. Is that what it was? Donated something. Sadly to say, I can't even remember the specifics. I know, but it's hard to keep all this straight. It was a good cause, and it was South Dakota. We also helped out with something at SDSU here. We did.
Starting point is 01:44:37 I don't know if you saw that, too. Because we spread the love around, don't we? Yeah, we go to all the state universities. But would you say when it's one of South Dakota's top business schools asking for help? You can't say no to one of South Dakota's top business schools. They said, we know you're an alum, one of our most well-known alums. Yep, you were on the alum list. We had to come at you for some money. Believe it or not, that did not come up.

Well, now they might know, so they'll be asking you for more next time us beggars never stop do they well that's that's that's was your wife like oh no not more people asking about mass and uh kind of and we're in a really crowded area and she's like the guy was like looking at because because trevor goes oh just a huge fan and there's a guy sitting next to us and she goes, he was looking at you like, should I know who you are? Starting point is 01:45:33 Yeah. So that's always funny. Other questions. I have seen that you've been having a little chatter in the discord about York vintage dumbbells. Is this something that you're serious about yep yep i've been researching pretty hard on the york roundhead dumbbells i've we've got a few as you know from mass stomach gym they've always sat underneath the uh below the dumbbell rack they're pretty small though aren't they the ones that are i've got one on yeah like i've got like a 25 a 15 and and then I've got 160 and 170.
Starting point is 01:46:05 Are they sets or individuals? They're all individuals. Oh, they are. I have no matching sets. And then what's the blob? What weight's the blob? Oh, the blobs are... Yeah, I don't know what...
Starting point is 01:46:14 Those are like halves of 55, 60, 65, something like... There's like five or six of those blobs, too. Okay. But just to the right of the blobs are my actual york old rusty yorks that i have sitting there too okay i thought it was very funny though you're saying how they're hard to come by and big eddie posted living in pennsylvania and it's like yeah boom i think everyone has a pair in their house there apparently yeah well i guess if you live within uh 50 miles of the york factory yeah they'll they all drink the Kool-Aid and bottom. Right, right.
Starting point is 01:46:46 So I'm going to be soliciting Big Eddie to be driving me. Make some deals for you. But I already, he was talking about Big Rob. What is it? Pete, I don't know. Yeah, you said his name. Big Rob. He's in a lot, and he already gave me some real good tips and leads. I don't know. Yeah. You said his name, uh, big Rob. Um, he's kind of, he, no,
Starting point is 01:47:09 he's in a lot and he already gave me some real good tips and leads and some, uh, there's this Facebook group that's vintage weights that you have to get accepted into. And, uh, so I had to like fill out a few questions to get accepted and I got denied at first. And I'm like,
Starting point is 01:47:20 the hell? I got denied for, and then Jonah Leo DMS me and goes haha because he's in on it and i don't know how to decide and he goes haha i just denied you so you don't steal any of the weights that i'm gonna buy and then he goes just kidding sign up again and i'll and i was like oh damn it's really funny actually yeah uh but the thing about uh those york roundheads is they anything uh a 60 or under fits in a flat rate usps shipping box so you know those boxes that like so they ship for 20 no matter what so all these people jam
Starting point is 01:47:52 these 60 pound dumbbells into this cardboard box and like it's horrendously deformed and stuff but apparently the usps uh lets that sneak by so i can get all the sets 60 and under, um, basically shipped to me at a price. That's not stupid. So it's just like really the 65s through the hundreds, which are the harder ones to find. Yeah. But the bigger you go,
Starting point is 01:48:17 the really, the harder are to find just because everyone is buying like the, you know, five to 50 set. Right. Right. The number of people buying his little home gym in the 70s doesn't need 100 pounds right right um and so yeah i'm gonna i think i'm gonna i i mean
Starting point is 01:48:32 that would be my goal is i want a full set it'd be cool yeah and are you trying are you going for like quality you want ones that look pretty decent what what i want is you know the big thing on the handles is not bent and the head's not loose i'm not really concerned about the exact finish on it because i can you know say i get the full set i can refinish the you know i can go through it at that point and refinish all of them so i'm not really worried about the level of patina on it i'm worried about the handles being straight and the heads being tight you know they get like so they do this like do they actually no no they don't screw on so once they're loose that's the thing once they're loose you're
Starting point is 01:49:11 basically screwed oh you know you'd have to like mangle it and weld it and stuff and then it kind of loses its okay you know i not that this matters but it kind of loses its collectability at that point and yeah no i get what you're saying. So is the idea here, would these get their own special stand for them all to go on then? Yeah, I don't know if these would even go in the gym or not yet, because I don't want people breaking them. Might be for the personal collection. Yeah, I don't even know.
Starting point is 01:49:41 I mean, they might go in the gym too with just a sign that says, don't fuck these up or else I'm going to murder you. Don't touch. Actually, you're better off putting a sign that says, touch and use these. People will be like, oh, I don't want to do that. Yeah, I'm like, oh, what's he trying to prove? I'm not going to touch these. I'm going to use the other ones even harder now.
Starting point is 01:49:57 Yeah, so they could be in the gym or something too. I don't know exactly. I don't even know. If someone was to ask me why they really you really want them it goes to this weird thing of why people collect anything really where it's like what is that for like what is that for it's the collectability factor i don't know it's a weird thing though because i've even thought about it as it relates to this specifically and collecting things is an odd thing.
Starting point is 01:50:25 And also like, especially with these weights, it's like, it's all temporary. Like all the equipment we own, like at some point in time, we're all gone. And like all those plates and racks still exist.
Starting point is 01:50:36 We'll still be there. Yeah. Have you ever thought about easing into your collection by starting with maybe like the York rubber hex ones first, you know, to practice collecting so that when you get to them. There's one style of dumbbell that I hate the most. It is the hex rubber coated. They're the worst, aren't they?
Starting point is 01:50:53 The ergonomic handles. Aren't they just terrible? Those are the worst dumbbells. If, you know, if I'm going to be a snob about. They are. They're so bad. But some of these York dumbbellss when you're buying them from like out of people in pennsylvania in that area they're not absurdly expensive though either you
Starting point is 01:51:10 know even though they are collectible some people had didn't someone post in the discord it was like a full set for like 600 and that ended up being like a dollar a pound or less even yeah like on a lot of these on uh the you know the more common sizes like i said like the 10 through 40s especially a dollar 50 a pound is not unreasonable to find on those you know a dollar a pound would be a really good deal um but where what gets harder is the rarer sizes you know like for a pair of hundreds you you could pay like $3 a pound wouldn't be crazy just because they're. The other thing, too, is all these people want to trade. I've already found like everyone wants to trade.
Starting point is 01:51:55 They're all traders because they have other vintage weights that they really want, you know. So like sometimes if you don't have something to trade,'s it's harder to get what you want so right that's where i'm understanding like to really get into it now you need to just get like you need to get your hands on whatever you can because they want you know even if you don't want it they might want it and then it leads to the thing that you want yeah does this whole thing make you like glad that you don't actively seek out the york just plates in general that you can just settle on strength coins and be fine with that that yeah i i i do uh i just at this point i just like the strength co plates the best though too like outside of even them being a
Starting point is 01:52:37 sponsor of the podcast and me talking about that like they are my favorite plates i want grant and this is you know this is all right for this to be public information i want him to make dumbbells but dumbbells are uh you know i what would be the coolest and he he agrees it just the cost and stuff doesn't really make sense but for someone to make a new set of globe dumbbells like the i'm talking about the roundhead yorks the older yorks though even more expensive are globe yorks and someone if they re if they you know mass produced really high quality globe dumbbells i think that they would be well received uh the tricky part about that stuff is with the roundheads or the globes is they are
Starting point is 01:53:25 prone to bending and breaking heads and stuff like that so that's kind of annoying if you spend all this money on a new stuff and yep somebody comes in and drops it down wrong yeah yeah so that's kind of tricky too yeah that would be really cool though though. Yeah. The globe dumbbells are pretty sweet. The major old strongman vibe to it. Yeah, yeah, they're cool. I'm certainly not an expert on it, but I am starting to learn more out of necessity of trying to get some in my possession.

Starting point is 01:56:36 to two sentence synopsis okay uh women of an isolated religious colony reveal a shocking secret about the colony's men oh that doesn't sound bad for well it doesn't actually that's kind of intrigued me a little bit yeah i i'm reading that i'm like oh let me i don't like i get i see why it's nominated yeah so okay so you're already you are all for one next on the list triangle ofangle of Sadness. Never heard of it. Definitely never heard of that. Never even heard that name once before. Have you?
Starting point is 01:57:11 No one called you the Triangle of Sadness in high school? Rectangular. I have not heard of this one at all. And synopsis. Carl and Yaya, a couple of influencers, are invited to a luxury cruise ship alongside a group of out-of-touch wealthy people. The situation takes an unexpected turn when a brutal storm hits the ship.
Starting point is 01:57:39 Yeah, it doesn't sound interesting. It does sound kind of interesting, but Triangle of Sadness does sound pretty sinister by the name, though. Okay, 0 for 2. Next up, I don't know if you've seen this one or not, Top Gun Maverick. Yeah, that was the one I was thinking of. That's why I said one, because I'm like,
Starting point is 01:57:58 I was going to be pissed the whole time we were going. I'm just waiting to get to the end, and you not say Top Gun, and me be disgusted that Top Gun wasn't nominated. So yes, Top Gun, the best movie I've seen as of late. Have you seen it yet? I still haven't seen it yet. And all this did just make me want to watch it again
Starting point is 01:58:16 because it did win the Oscar, I think, for best sound design, I believe. Oh, yeah. Top Gun. I was going to be pissed if Top Gun wasn't on the list, I'm like, no credibility here. All is lost on my end. Yep, so that made the list. That was the one. When I said one, I was like, I was feeling like Top Gun would be my one. Yeah, yeah.

Starting point is 01:58:51 Renowned musician Lydia Tar is days away from recording the symphony that will elevate her career. Hard pass. Did you ever see Whiplash? I don't think so so i don't know if i know what that is that's uh like is it the cowboy monkey from taco john's if it was if tar is anything like whiplash which is a movie about a guy trying to be uh like a really high level drummer. Cowboy monkey. Oh,
Starting point is 01:59:26 that, that movie was incredible. So if it's anything like that, then I would totally watch tar. I'm not sure if that's the case or not though. Next up on the list, the Fableman's. Nope.
Starting point is 01:59:38 Don't know it. Yep. I don't think I've heard of that one either. Young Sammy Fableman falls in love with movies after his parents take him to see The Greatest Show on Earth. And he starts to make films of his own. Yep, have not heard of that one. Okay, next on the list we have Elvis. I have seen Elvis.
Starting point is 01:59:57 You have, huh? I have seen Elvis, yeah. I watched that. It was streaming on something. My wife and I started to watch that uh like as is typical she wanted to go did not want to finish it wanted to go to bed and i cannot i have a really hard time starting movies and not finishing them so i had to come back to it like a night or two later and i finished it and it was uh not too bad. It was,
Starting point is 02:00:25 I felt like it should have been better. Okay. Um, I was a little disappointed, honestly. I just thought it was going to be better than what it was. So are you like an Elvis guy at all? Like,
Starting point is 02:00:35 do you know, did you grow up listening to Elvis's music in any way? A little bit. Like I'm not an Elvis guy in the sense that like, I love Elvis or like that. My parents loved Elvis. So I'm not an Elvis guy in the sense that like I love Elvis or like that my parents loved Elvis, so I love Elvis or something like that, but pretty aware of it
Starting point is 02:00:50 and definitely listened to a little Elvis here and there. And I have respect for some of that music, I guess, but no. But I just thought the movie was going to be better, I guess. For me, I feel like I have a pretty solid base of a lot of music and maybe the biggest gap in all of my musical knowledge is Elvis. Starting point is 02:01:31 You know, um, Queen. Oh, the Elvis movie. A lot of it was so much about this manager that Tom Hanks plays. And like, obviously he's like an interesting character and stuff, but I don't know what I thought it was going to be, but I'm at two. my two that's really good uh next one the banshees of any sheeran never heard of it on a remote island off the coast of ireland uh patrick is devastated when his buddy colm suddenly puts an end to their lifelong friendship. Colin Farrell's in it.

Avatar, The Way of Water. No, I would watch that. I want to see it.
Starting point is 02:03:14 I heard it was disappointing, I guess, but not uncommon for a sequel, but I would like to watch that for Make a Judgment Call Myself. Yep, I would too. Next up on the list, quiet on the western front i have we talked about that on the podcast yeah and that's all in uh german i read that movie in subtitles and uh i like that was a good movie i do want to see this one is that that on Netflix or what's it on?

Starting point is 02:04:55 everything everywhere all at once they actually won quite a few things yeah so i wouldn't mind watching that one either boy the list is just growing I would go Top Gun is good I know Top Gun is not a movie that wins that award but like I would give it that award it won an award for best movie ever made best movie ever made

Like that sounds to me almost like i don't really know i'm just googling all dressed uh a potato chip flavor popular in canada they describe according to wikipedia the flavor is described as a mix of ketchup barbecue sauce and salt and vinegar do you like salt and vinegar chips? I'm not a big chip guy. Well, but I mean, if you had to eat chips and the salt and vinegar flavor was there, would you eat those? Yeah, I guess I'd eat any flavor.
Starting point is 02:07:15 Salt and vinegar is one of my preferred flavors. I like dill pickle. It's kind of my favorite, actually. Anything dill pickle for me, the first couple are really good, and after that, I get tired of it in a hurry. That's fair. I don't want to eat that many of any chips, so that's fine. So you can have first dibs on which of those bags you want. Then we've got this Kraft Dinner white cheddar.
Starting point is 02:07:50 got this craft dinner white cheddar so i don't know if this is their traditional white cheddar white cheddar crap why is it do they just go by the is the brand is called craft dinner there they don't call it craft dinner here isn't this craft mac and cheese kd yeah maybe craft dinner is like the can KraftCanada.com. According to Wikipedia, Kraft Dinner, it's Kraft Mac, yeah, Kraft Dinner in Canada, Kraft Mac and Cheese United States. This says it is the, Kraft Dinner has been called a de facto national dish of Canada. There we go i have a hard time believing it's as good as the traditional
Starting point is 02:08:33 our craft uh elbow macaroni is that your preferred macaroni if you're gonna get macaroni in a box is elbow macaroni so you're saying if i'm going to get macaroni in a box yeah versus like the kids shapes well no i'm just saying like like pick you know there's shells and cheese there's shells and cheese there's the shapes there's elbow macaroni there's spirals like there's a variety i'll start by saying i like every macaroni and cheese i've never met a met one i wouldn't take on. But yeah, I like the elbow one.
Starting point is 02:09:08 I could eat like, you know, if I was not worried about my gluttony shining through, I could eat like five boxes of that and it wouldn't phase me. Actually, it would phase me. I'd feel very sick afterwards, but it'd be worth the ride. But also satisfying. Yeah.
Starting point is 02:09:24 My preferred is the spiral noodle. i think the spiral noodle is so much better than the elbow noodle i don't know why i just think it's on a whole different level to me yeah i like the elbow the best i'm not counting shells and cheese because that's kind of a different product to me right you know it has a different type of cheese that's going in there not powder you know yeah if i'm really going to think about it i definitely like the elbow the best because i also like it uh if it's um goulash i really like an a thick elbow macaroni and goulash and then elbow might be my least favorite pasta shape of them all actually i don't elbow doesn't really do it for me for some reason yeah i like elbow unless it's spaghetti like a spaghetti dish i want spaghetti noodles you know like obviously that's you know if it's spaghetti spaghetti noodles but like some people
Starting point is 02:10:16 you could have spaghetti sauce on elbows or spirals or any of that like i want spaghetti noodles and not angel hair spaghetti, for God's sake. Oh, I love angel hair. Oh, I think it's so good. No, I like the meatier noodle. I mean, it's called spaghetti noodles, actually. I'm just describing spaghetti. I think the most underrated one is cavatappi,
Starting point is 02:10:42 or however you say that. That's the spirally elbow type ones you know yeah if you do homemade macaroni or any type of pasta with that oh it's so freaking good and in whole and in homemade macaroni it could be any of the shapes is this when we bring up it's always so good this we bring up the the yearly topic of the massonomics macaroni the homemade macaroni yeah it's uh i'll just type it in again i believe right now if you do vice mac and cheese let me find out right now we might have to bring a dish of that to pass that's a power lifting meat it won't last long it's gonna be the problem though um oh i actually think it's munchies munchies mac and cheese with isn't it a vice yeah yeah well yeah munchies is like a vice thing uh
Starting point is 02:11:28 mac and cheese with maddie matheson that is the one i believe yeah cheeto mac and cheese bake there it is that was also oh what else we got coffee crisp nestle bar yeah which i don't know if i've had that before or not, but that sounds good to me because I kind of like coffee.
