Starting point is 00:00:00 Thanks for what you do with your podcasts and all the rest. You're doing a great job. I hope everybody keeps tuning in. You get a lot of good info, a lot of insights, understandings on how to get strong, how to stay strong, how to use your strength. You do a great job, dude. You make things better than they are in real life, I think.
Starting point is 00:00:15 If you don't follow Massanomics, y'all do it. Social media, website, everything. Massanomics! everything massonomics well welcome back everyone for episode 424 of the massonomics podcast we are the lifting podcast about nothing recording comfortably from our corners of the Dakota in western northeast South Dakota and then eastern southeast South Dakota down there. My name is Tanner. And my name is Tommy. Tommy, should we get this thousand pound gorilla out of the room right now?
Starting point is 00:00:57 I mean, there's something everyone is expecting right now and I just don't want to. It's been a while. Truer words have never been said. It has been a while. Truer words have never been said. It has been a while. When was the last time we actually took just two straight weeks off of podcasting? Yeah, and just so everyone knows, it wasn't us without new episodes over the last two weeks, but we had pre-recorded a couple at home gym con that we've been playing the last couple weeks. So I don't know when it's been that much of a stained while it's been a long time we do have because of those reasons we have a lot
Starting point is 00:01:32 to cover here we do no guests this week the list actually is about the biggest the list has ever been it's it's huge right now a lot of meat and potatoes to get to on this uh rundown it's going to be one hell of a rundown i hope hope you prepared that rundown this week, Tommy. Buckle on in. Yeah. Before we get to too much of that, I want to tell everyone about our good friends over at Build Fast Formula. Check them out at buildfastformula.com.
Starting point is 00:01:59 It's the supplements we know, we love, we use. They've got, I'd say, a Massanomics favorite is their Vasoblitz, their dual nitric oxide support pre-workout supplement. I'm going to go with my personal favorite here, add it to the list, the 80-20 protein. I like the chocolate flavor. It's their 80% casein, 20% whey protein supplement. They also have their full blitz which is their fully loaded caffeinated pre-workout formula and check out everything they've got over at
Starting point is 00:02:31 buildfastformula.com when you're there make sure to use discount code massonomics that'll save you 10 on every order you get from there not just the first one you can keep using it if you sign up for a subscription on any of their products it'll save you you an extra 10%. 10, 10, 20. Can't afford not to. Thanks, BuildFast. And today's episode is also brought to you by Barefoot Shoes. Most shoes harm your mobility by over-restricting your foot's natural movement. Barefoot shoes are designed with minimal restrictions
Starting point is 00:02:58 so your feet can move the way they're supposed to. Move with more strength and confidence in every step. Barefoot Shoes was founded by Chris Duffin, who attributes proper foot biomechanics as foundational to his success in squatting and deadlifting over 1,000 pounds for reps. He helped create the company to provide a minimalist shoe that can be worn for anything from deadlifts to walking your dog. Go to www.barefoot.store to check out the best minimalist shoes available.
Starting point is 00:03:24 And while you're there, make sure to use code massonomics to save 10% on your next order. That's barefoot.store code massonomics. Save you 10%. Thank you. Barefoot shoes. Well, after a couple of weeks of coming to everyone's ears and a less,
Starting point is 00:03:41 I would say a subpar audio video presentation compared to what the massonomics uh faithful are used to this week we got it back and better than ever baby yep so we're back we're back in full status and uh i guess to cover at first we did get back from home gym con a while ago it has been a while since we got back from that and we're not going to go into it too much because if you want to know about any of that you'd check out uh i would say episodes 423 422 of the massomics podcast and we're publishing our third and final youtube video from that home gym con series that'll come out tomorrow well i mean by the time you're listening to this it's has come out already so So you'd have three weeks, three full YouTube videos, probably about another 35, 40, almost an hour's worth of content in those three videos, too. And yeah, happy to see the videos are doing well.
Starting point is 00:04:36 People are engaging with them and getting views. So that does also make the trip extra worth it. It does make it worth it. And it just it makes us happy that's something we talk about behind the scenes because over the last uh over 12 months now we have put way more time and effort time and effort uh and thought into our youtube channel and it's great seeing when that that works at least a little bit or yeah like quite a bit honestly it's worked really well we feel like we do.
Starting point is 00:05:06 We feel like we're, I mean, I think from like a technical standpoint, I think it looks good. I think it sounds good. And then I think on camera, we've figured out how to, one, put together a video that is entertaining, but also like have presence on camera that seems to flow well
Starting point is 00:05:21 and keeps the pace moving and is natural. And I think, I mean, not to toot our own horn too much, but I think a video that most people would watch and find enjoyable. And so it is nice to see that reflected in the numbers. Yeah. And I'm not, I'm not saying this for the sake of comparison for comparison sake, but we, I mean, there again, behind the scenes, we do compare ourselves to other people that do similar things because of course we do like uh it's not a contest but we want to be measuring up uh with our products so that hopefully it works and people like it and there was a lot of content to come out of home gym con from a lot of different content creators and uh my honest opinion albeit completely biased
Starting point is 00:06:03 the most biased opinion that there is outside of maybe also Tommy's, is that ours stacks up and is as good as it gets, if I'm being quite honest about that, you know, in a number of ways. That's my opinion. Right up there with what you'd say is the best of them, I think right up there. Yeah. Yes.
Starting point is 00:06:21 So I'm happy to see that. You know, like that makes the trip feel um just does make it feel worth it like you said i'm trying to think if there's anything just behind the scenes since home gym that you wouldn't have seen and heard from yeah that we haven't it honestly feels like it's been years ago since we were there. Yeah, yeah. I almost have trouble remembering. But, I mean, probably everything relevant has been discussed at this point, I suppose. Yeah, I think so. You know, check that stuff out.
Starting point is 00:06:55 Do we have a segment later here that we're going to talk about equipment specifically? Because that would be my one takeaway from Home Gym Con. Yeah, because I'll have some home gym updates, you know. Right, right. Maybe we'll save that for all of that. Unless we want to get into it right away. Well, that's...
Starting point is 00:07:14 Maybe we'll come back to some of that. Okay. Actually, I don't even know why I say that. I don't know why I think maybe we'll come back to some of that. Like we're saving certain things. I'm not really sure what the logic of it is. It's like Quentin Tarantino movie here. We're bouncing around.
Starting point is 00:07:29 We're going to get a teaser of the end, and then we're going right back. I don't know why I'm speaking as if I know there's some plan I have in my head here where it's like, well, that's really not according to the 424 episode plan here. I think we get so used to having the guest on that there's just so many things we have to run through before the guest shows up that it kind of messes up our order here. I'm thinking we have a real set plan that needs to be stuck to on what we're discussing here and when we're doing it within the episode. I am coming off of a little bit of a bug here.
Starting point is 00:08:03 That's what it seems like. I am coming off of a little bit of a bug here. That's what it seems like. Yeah, I was so thankful that last week we didn't have to record because I was getting to bed not that early, but as early as possible every night. And I was like, it was one of those weeks I'm like, if I would have had to podcast this week, I could have done it because I've done it pretty sick before.
Starting point is 00:08:21 But I'm just like, I mean, I could and would have done it. And I have done it and i have it was that bad actually yeah i just um just like a really not like a flu or uh not a fever or anything like that but just a pretty pretty bad cold that just makes me you know tired and worn down and stuff but it's on the upswing but it's just she's hanging on for a while you know yeah i guess the important thing would be though is how is training going through all that? It, about a week ago, took a little bit of a setback. I was still, here's an interesting, here's a great topic, actually.
Starting point is 00:08:54 People were talking about in the Discord, coincidentally, not about me, but about someone else's training when you're sick. And my general rule of thumb on that is if I have the flu and have like the body aches and that sort of thing, I don't train because literally where I'm like, I can barely stand up, you know, like, so I'm not going to can't even do it like i just you know like you're you're so physically weak when you kind of have that like fever chills flu sort of sickness but when i have a head cold my lifting does not typically suffer that much like i feel the best i feel during the day when I have like a cold is while I'm lifting, honestly, like I'm not even saying I feel perfect then. And the lift lifting might suffer a little bit in comparison to perfect health. But, um, it's kind of actually when I like going to the gym and training, when I have that actually, I think makes me feel a little bit better that night. I am even more tired,
Starting point is 00:10:05 you know, like it does like wear me down and I require rest from that, like probably extra rest. But, uh, the actual training, like it, it clears me up a little bit. I think it helps me. And I don't know why that is, but I do have that feeling. So yeah. Yeah. I would agree with that too. Like if I'm actually like, okay. So people also have to understand that when you live in the upper Midwest and you have kids, you're kind of just sort of sick for what seems like six months in a way. Yes. And so yeah, like if that was really the case, like the number of just not trained for the number of days, November, every other week, you'd stop training, right? The number of days, November through March that, uh, don't feel 90% is the majority of them. But yeah, if I'm really, truly sick, same thing, like actually say, I mean,
Starting point is 00:10:52 I can't do anything. Like I'm, I'm actually right. Just then it's not even a question. You're like, and also if I'm ever actually that sick, it's like, okay, it usually lasts a couple of days. And there's never a time where it's like a day day there's never a time where i just can't push training a day or two and then exactly and then catch up to it on the other side like that's never a deal but yeah not feeling the best um yeah there's lots of days where you just kind of have a head cold whatever you just get in you start going through the motions and you're right you do start feeling better and i don't know if that's just some blood flow or stand up, moving around, whatever that is. But it is the same thing that once you're done, you're ready to crash.
Starting point is 00:11:29 Okay. Yeah. You're like, okay, now I'm extra, you know, now I'm extra tired. So that's what I've been feeling a little bit about that being said, my training has been going really well. My ankle is coming around pretty good. It's feeling better all the time. I've prior to getting sick i actually
Starting point is 00:11:47 ran two one mile i did two what i i did maybe i do one sick it's too much well that could be yeah allergic to that uh running uh so i do one mile runs on occasion and i've been in preparation for the summer just in case anything comes up and just my conditioning i just want to feel a little better. So that's what, as soon as my ankle could take it, actually, here's the thing. Since I don't get my cardio from basketball anymore, which was huge, I'm realizing in hindsight, how much that was helping, uh, how many calories it was burning. First of all, to keep my body weight down. Like that was my, what I suspected was happening is either that or I had like a tapeworm.
Starting point is 00:12:26 And it's definitely the basketball because now. The tapeworm has been ruled out. Yeah. In hindsight or in time after removing it by necessity because of being injured, I'm like, ah, yes. That is making the total difference in the calorie expenditure swing and is like causing the weight to come back just as fast as it went away so it is the you know and i was only doing it twice a week but is that twice a week for like three and a half hours total that was just like non-stop but that's like three hours that you've removed right i mean that's that's more exercise than most people get in their entire
Starting point is 00:13:00 week right right exactly and to me it was just like this add-on thing. But so now that that's gone, my ankle still isn't good enough to play basketball. I would be super nervous to like jump and have anyone be within 20 feet of me. I'd be like, get away, get, you know. But I think I'll actually get there at some point, you know, that will not be that long down the road
Starting point is 00:13:23 that I could go try that. I'm kind of getting the itch to do that even a little bit. Well, you know, it's just not quite going on and everything now. I know, I know. It's kind of, it does exasperate the whole thing. But so I want to do a little bit of this running. So the first one was honestly just to test my ankle to see, because I haven't ran now at all for a step since I injured it.
Starting point is 00:13:44 And the first one was just a test. I'm like, no, we're just going to go out. I'm like, well, Jack would be my pace car. And I'm like, we're going to have to start really slow. And I don't even know if I can, I don't know, like if it's just going to start hurting in a detrimental way and I'll have to stop. But we ran the first half mile. We have this one mile course that we run.
Starting point is 00:14:03 And when we got to the halfway point, I had ran really slow because I was just nervous about it. I'd ran like a five-and-a-half-minute half mile. Like I was just, it was like a lineman jog almost. And then I got there and I'm like, this feels pretty good. Like as far as running, not like running ever feels good. But I'm like, it doesn't feel like my ankle is it feels weird but it doesn't feel like i'm doing anything bad to it so it's like on the second half let's pick it up a little bit so we ended up finishing the mile in like 10 minutes which is a slow
Starting point is 00:14:35 mile pace relatively speaking or relative to what i was running but i'm like oh that's really promising that i could just go out here this first time and run this 10-minute mile, and I'm not that gassed. So then we ran the second one, and I ran considerably faster, and we did an 8.45-minute mile pace, and I was tired after that. Like that, you know, I could have ran a little bit faster than that, but that was enough to, I was feeling that. I was hurting from that. than that but that was that was enough to i was feeling that i was hurting from that and since then i got sick but and have it run again but i'm going to keep implementing that and then training wise my training with the ankle not being as much of a factor and other things just feeling decent from kind of some uh time off from just not being able to use stuff as much you know my ankle
Starting point is 00:15:22 hurting and all that crap i I couldn't do things. Well, now it feels awesome. I feel like my lifts feel good. Like I've been doing the elevated deadlifts. Yeah. And that is feeling good. It's feeling like some decent weight on those even. Well, it's feeling like easier every week. And even my deadlifts off the floor are feeling easier every week.
Starting point is 00:15:42 I've been working on my log press a lot which is hard for me and this week when you say hard for you like it's always been hard for you in the current um it's always been a challenging lift for me i think you know it just doesn't feel like the law you know the log in the front rack position it's just like it's not comfortable for anyone but in comparison to the other overhead press events, like I'd much rather do an axle or, um, a Viking press would be my number one choice because it's just, you're able to make it the least like a,
Starting point is 00:16:13 uh, actual pressing strength. You know, you can put so much other mustard in there, but, um, so I don't, I struggle a little bit with the log,
Starting point is 00:16:21 but felt really good this week. Even finally, it was clicking a little bit. And then I did like midway on my, but felt really good this week even. Finally, I was clicking a little bit. And then I did midway on my last set. Not a big injury or anything, but just where I get something out of them. Happens a few times a year. I think it happens to a lot of people all the time. You just get something out of whack.
Starting point is 00:16:39 Just pinched in your neck? Yes, like a bad pinch in my neck. And I knew it right away, and I was like, was like oh god and i get this exact same spot and it's probably what people go to a chiropractor for that go to chiropractors i just don't do that so for me i get it and it takes about a week and it's already it's feeling quite a bit better but i feel it right away like after my second or third and i was like oh it's so annoying because you know it, okay, every time I've got to back up the car or just look around. I'm like Mr. Roboto because I can't move my neck the one direction. So my training is going to make a really, really long story shorter.
Starting point is 00:17:17 My training is going pretty well, and I'm feeling some promise about things, and I'm excited about it my squat I'm actually my squat I'm doing slant board still but I brought the slant down a little bit and my aggressive holding up to that progressing a little bit but I've been doing the safety squat bar and I do just one top set a week yep I do four working sets and one of them is a top set like a significantly heavier top set a week. Yep. I do four working sets and one of them is a top set, like a significantly heavier top set. And I'm doing that just to get like one set of, um, considerably higher intensity. Yep. And then a back down sets just to get a little bit of work in, but the back down sets are considerably lighter just cause I'm trying to baby my hip and stuff. Cause it's feeling good. So I want to,
Starting point is 00:18:05 but I want to get some intensity. And so I keep just doing like this one intense set followed by, you know, back down stuff that's considerably easier. And that seems to be working. Yeah. Um, so. Which isn't a bad training progression to have anyways, you know? Right. Right. Um, so I think I've got something figured out that's working for this week. So I'm sure I'll come back next week and say that everything is terrible.
Starting point is 00:18:28 The wheels have fallen off. Everything is awful and my life is ruined. So how's your training going? It's going pretty good too. I had yesterday, it was actually you had called me seconds after it happened. I deadlifted a set of 405 for the first time in like five years. And the muscle has not been the problem. It's not been a muscle thing. It's just always been just, well, also I was, I shouldn't say for conventional deadlift 405. I was doing trap bar stuff for a while.
Starting point is 00:19:03 I did go over 405 all the time like that wasn't a deal but going back to conventional hitting 405 and it just felt really really good like it was supposed to be an rp 10 day and i mean it was probably like a seven i mean if you looked at on video you'd probably say like it's even less than that even yeah um so it makes me feel promised there like i my back muscle wise my back doesn't even feel like i did anything actually nothing feels like i did anything yesterday i just feel 100 fine where i get my little bit of back it's like the most tiniest little something but like that should go away in a day or two so i'm like okay i think i'm all good
Starting point is 00:19:40 and then i have some rp10 squats and bench later this week which has got me pretty excited to see where those go so yes my lifts are also going quite well at the moment so I'm happy with that it's the must be the garage gym effect I think so dude I'm telling you when it when you're in like between that uh 60 let's just say it's been perfect like the last week has been let's just say when you're between like 69 and 75 in that garage. Oh, man. You open the door. The sun's out.
Starting point is 00:20:09 There's just a gentle breeze. It doesn't get much better. You get hot. You step outside. The breeze cools you right down. You're back in the room. It's amazing. It's the perfect time to be lifting a gym right now.
Starting point is 00:20:20 It literally has been perfect. Like the perfect. It has been perfect. Like the perfect. It has been. I know this won't last super long because it's mid-May right now, but man, while it's here, it's good. So that's good. Both of our training is going well. It would be interesting if anything popped up this summer
Starting point is 00:20:41 and we were able to. If it was convenient, in the right place, you never know if we didn't have a big travel and it'd be fun. You know, if there's other people around that we knew. Yeah. That's the big one. You want people, you know,
Starting point is 00:20:53 in a meet, you know, right. So if there was anything like that, nothing's immediately coming to my head, but if there was something like that, you never know, you never know participate.
Starting point is 00:21:02 And that would be, would be really fun. At least it's fun to think about. Yeah. You know and that would be would be really fun at least it's fun to think about yeah you know that would be cool something like that existed yeah but you can about a friend of mine in the competition got it on yeah no they didn't we do have another um important uh massonomics meetup that we have scheduled. Yeah, we got to get the word out on this one. Yeah, so this is, we have
Starting point is 00:21:31 the date even set. It's June 15th and this is going to be in Watertown, South Dakota. We don't have like a clever crew name for Watertown, do we? Like there's Crew Falls. That's actually a good point. I never thought of that. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:21:50 Maybe we'll have to work on that between... We've got a month. We've got a month. That's a month out. Yeah, we'll think about that one. I mean, I'm not saying we want to hold back for that much longer, but we do have a month. So it's Big Nathan and Big Abby of Build Fast Formula, speaking of sponsoring the podcast,
Starting point is 00:22:05 they're going to be hosting a little garage gym crew lifting session. And I would say it's sort of like a Lift Hard, Live Easy, classic meet prep meetup. Very much aligns with that. You wouldn't necessarily have to be competing in the competition to participate. Any supporting member, any Massonomics crew member is allowed and encouraged to join us. And so the plan is about 11 a.m. our time, roughly of a start time, and not much of a plan beyond that.
Starting point is 00:22:37 We're going to train, hang out, lift. We're going to shoot a couple of Massonomics YouTube videos. We'll do like a garage gym tour with them there and a lifting vlog while we're going at it for the training sesh. And I think it'll be pretty fun. Yeah, it's going to be a really fun day. Hopefully we'll get a few. You know, it's not a huge, this isn't like an elaborate event
Starting point is 00:22:57 like maybe Crew Falls was, but it's just a fun training session that's there and available for anyone that wants to participate. And for people that have never heard of watertown it is actually the halfway distance between aberdeen and sioux falls yeah it works out great for pretty much everyone on the east side of the state here that's within right easy striking distance that's true or even uh like we've like big ben from pier how long of a drive would it be from Pierre? Would it even be that far? Would it be about the same? Maybe closer to three hours? Yeah.
Starting point is 00:23:31 But still, yeah, so I think, it sounds like some people are interested, should have a decent turnout. I think so. I'm looking forward to it. The training session, I'm going to try and schedule something where I can do something,
Starting point is 00:23:46 make a hard lift line up on that day. I'm actually curious what my training would be on that day. I'm kind of afraid to look because it's going to be like a freaking deload or something stupid like that. Right, right, right. I'm going to manipulate it to make sure that I have something there because I don't want to waste any of the mojo. Right, yeah, you've got to waste any of the mojo.
Starting point is 00:24:05 Right. Yeah. You got to take advantage of those when you got them. Yeah. Like at crew falls. Everyone is just going for it. Yeah. I played that one all wrong. Right.
Starting point is 00:24:13 I can't waste the mojo on it. So we're excited for that. You know, stay tuned for some updates and the Watertown meetup. Stay tuned for a better, better name, better name than the Watertown meetup. Stay tuned for a better name than the Watertown meetup. What do we want to talk about?
Starting point is 00:24:30 Oh, Tommy, you went on a trip, actually. You and I talked about just an element or two of it, but we didn't really talk about anything. I kind of wanted to save it for the podcast, but it was taking forever for us to podcast here. I didn't know if I was ever going to get to talk about it. So you got to see a T-Wolves playoff game,. So you got to see a T-Wolves playoff game, and now I got to see a T-Wolves playoff game.
Starting point is 00:24:49 Unfortunately, mine, saying that it was a game, would be a little bit generous to... It was not there on game day. That might be the worst sporting event I've ever been to as far as performance goes. Yeah, it was a downer. I wasn't there, but watching it. Also, as a Minnesota fan, you know if you're going to a game,
Starting point is 00:25:04 it just feels like there's a 10% chance they're going to win the game. I've definitely seen Minnesota teams lose more in person than I've seen them win. Even when the teams are exceptional. Oh, and what was so annoying is that they had just put on the frickin' clinic of all clinics on how to beat the former world champs. They were just destroying the nuggets. The hype could not be bigger in Minnesotanesota right now for the t-wolves to go up 20 away on the road and come into minneapolis and you go in man and you're right
Starting point is 00:25:32 it is just i bet the place was rocking oh it was a friday night you know we're out uh across the street from the target so they play at the target center across the street all the bars you know there's people out on the patios drinking a rods walking by just on the street, all the bars, you know, there's people out on the patios drinking, A-Rods walking by just on the street. People are going nuts. And like the whole, it's just, everything was crazy. So people were just ready to go. It was a party. We got there pretty early. You know, we're having beers, we're having fun. The, uh, even the, the, uh, national anthem, they had a guy just come out and just do this crazy sack solo for the whole thing. Oh, it was so awesome. It was amazing. And people were ready to go, man.
Starting point is 00:26:09 They were hyped up. And T-Wolves came out. I think maybe it was 10-10, 12-12. Yeah. And then after that, it was just downhill from there. It was downhill. I think they ended the first quarter down 10. They ended the half down about 20.
Starting point is 00:26:24 Ended the game down about 30. And, man, it was a bad game. It was. Yeah. I mean, ended the first quarter down 10. They ended the half down about 20. Ended the game down about 30. And, man, it was a bad game. It was disappointing. It was. Yeah. I mean, you were just out of it. Like, you were out of it. But when the third quarter started and within the first couple of minutes,
Starting point is 00:26:34 you're like, yep, this is not changing at all. You knew it was over then. Yeah. So that was a downer. I mean, it was still a ton of fun to go to. Right. See the whole thing. Yeah. You know, there's cool. I mean, it was still a ton of fun to go to see the whole thing. They have lots of people that are historic figures
Starting point is 00:26:49 as far as Minnesota sports go between Twins players and Vikings players and Metro Boomin, the music producer, was there. There was all types of stuff going on. Yeah, that's why I was – because there was a lot of interesting people there when I was there, so I was curious to hear who was at the game. At one point, they introduced Justin Morneau and Joe Bauer. That was cool. They were there and then a little bit later it was Metro Boomin. No clue
Starting point is 00:27:12 why Metro Boomin was at the game. I don't know why. So that was cool. And then Grant, I actually told you this one, Grant on the OK podcast. He's a big South Carolina women's basketball fan and he always talks about raven crockpot johnson well of course raven crockpot johnson is that i have no idea why she was at the game but she was there too i don't know if she plays for the links maybe she that's what's my i wondered if she got drafted by them recently here i don't know i'm trying to see it because that is a good uh yeah I don't know but uh so she was there and of course A-Rod's there you know he's always at the
Starting point is 00:27:53 games I'm trying to think if there was oh uh Kyle Rudolph former Minnesota uh very historic tight end for the for the Vikings he was there so yeah it was just it was all awesome it was all great except they played like absolute shit and so that that really puts a damper on it but it's still a good time man dude the nas reed thing is just like oh i love it dude when you're pulling into the city even yeah even on you know they got all these old historic buildings that have been converted into condos and things like that yeah and there's just like nas reed flags hanging from people's balconies there's not nas reed billboards up everywhere did you see the the tattoo shop was giving nas reed tattoos jack was like we should have went they're giving 20 nas reed tattoos because we're big so for
Starting point is 00:28:40 anyone that doesn't know like whether you're a sports fan or not, I think that there's an interesting thing going on here. Nas Reed is the Minnesota Timberwolves sixth man. So he's not even a starter, but he did win sixth man of the year. So it's like the award for the best bench player in the NBA. He won it, and deservingly so. But the T-Wolves fans, everyone loves him in a weird way, even more than their superstars that they have on the team. Nas Reed isn't a superstar, but everyone goes absolutely nuts for this guy.
Starting point is 00:29:15 The city is electric of Nas Reed. And he's like all these nicknames, and it's like everyone in the stands has Nas Reed signs. Everywhere you go, it's like two words for you, Nas Reid. Or it's like Nas Reid for president everywhere you look. And I really like, there's all these nicknames. And I always really like the Wizard of Nas. I keep calling him the Wizard of Nas.
Starting point is 00:29:39 And then it's like when Jack and I are watching the game, sometimes we're doing it like he'll be in the basement and I'll be upstairs. And anytime Nas Reed does anything, like we're both going nuts and texting each other about Nas Reed. It's like there's this whole Nas Reed thing. There is. There's a whole Nas Reed culture. It's awesome. And you can notice it immediately when you're in.
Starting point is 00:29:59 And the second he comes in, the crowd goes nuts too. People go nuts for it. They love it. Other takeaways from the game uh i probably haven't been at a sporting event a pro sporting event in person where they boo the refs that much they were getting called out a lot in that game and then also yeah i mean the crowd was super into it just nothing else was there oh they're playing tonight game five I really felt like game four. They had to win that one. Oh, I didn't necessarily true because they could win that.
Starting point is 00:30:30 They could. I know I didn't be fine, but I haven't been invested. This invested in a long like in any I was doing. I was doing so well with me not caring anymore. And then Jack got old enough that he got really interested now i'm sucked back in and i was so mad watching game three and game four then i'm like why do i care so much now i'm mad this is ruining my night and i just went like the last 10 years without caring and now i'm back to my old uh well that's the problem is all these
Starting point is 00:31:00 freaking games started like 9 30 at night it's not getting done till like midnight and then you're all worked up and you can't even sleep is the worst part. I know. It's like I stayed up extra late for this to just get like more pissed off. And like for the last 10 years, I did great, like barely paying attention. But now I'm so sucked in and invested in it again. And now I'm going to be very frustrated. And then it was going so well and I'm worried about getting let down here.
Starting point is 00:31:25 But that's true Minnesota sports fan fashion. That's the cycle of a Minnesota sports fan right there. That is the way life goes. It really is. But so it was cool, obviously. I mean, yes, it was very cool, though. Everything besides that, yeah, it was a very, very cool trip. Playoff basketball.
Starting point is 00:31:42 Never been to a pro playoff sport before like right a pro right game with a playoff so that's cool because they're just so i mean also what's crazy is there was like no nuggets fans in the whole arena no like the nuggets there was no suns fans when we went either the nuggets game gets done and there's people doing t wolves chants in the nuggets arena you know they're saying wolves in four they're saying They're saying MVP for Ant and all this stuff. I mean... They're chanting MVP for Ant in Denver. Yeah, I don't know if there was like 50 Nuggets fans in the whole...
Starting point is 00:32:13 You just didn't even see them. They didn't exist. So that's cool to see that too. Oh, shoot. Oh, were you able to park in the parking garage? Oh, yeah, we were. Yes. I don't know it must have been a weird uh or maybe it was full when you got there no it was early oh yeah it
Starting point is 00:32:32 was full oh yeah like they were standing there it was blocked off you couldn't even go you couldn't even drive in yeah we got it and we didn't get there you know the game started at 7 30 and i think we got to the parking garage at like 5 5 30 so we weren't there that early either right and uh or sorry the the gates open for the game at like 7 30 the game was until nine but right um yeah we got in i mean it was it was definitely filling up but we did it um okay along these lines now i totally forgot about the story. This is such a weird random chance thing. Is one of the guys we went with to the game, he lives in Minnesota. He met us there.
Starting point is 00:33:12 He lives a few hours away in a smaller town. His name's Spencer. And he goes, remember when I saw you in Columbus? And I was like, dude, I totally forgot about the story. When we were at the Arnold this year. This year? Yes, this past year. Okay. So you don't know the Spencer
Starting point is 00:33:25 guy but you know my buddy Brian of course all right and Brian sent me a text and it was a picture of our trailer at the hotel in Columbus yeah yeah and he goes hey look Spencer sent me this so our buddy Spencer was randomly in Columbus that weekend of the Arnold, went to the embassy suites, saw our trailer, recognized the logo, took a picture, didn't send it to me for whatever reason, but sent it to our buddy Brian and just randomly saw our thing there. And he'd never followed up and asked at the time what was going on. And then probably even the funnier part about that is he was at the wrong
Starting point is 00:34:02 embassy suites. So he went to Columbus. He only saw it because he went to the wrong one. was at the wrong embassy suites. So he went to Columbus. He only saw it because he went to the wrong one. Went to the wrong embassy suite, saw our trailer. And I totally forgot that story even happened until he brought it up this weekend. And I'm like, ah, yes, you did accidentally see our trailer. That is really, really funny. What are the odds?
Starting point is 00:34:19 Yeah. Small world, huh? It kind of is actually. Yeah. The one other thing, that's what I was going to mention about it, too, is you mentioned Kyle Rudolph was in attendance, former Pro Bowl tight end for the Minnesota Vikings. That's like 10 years, played a long time. Now a member of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
Starting point is 00:34:38 He ordered some Massonomics jorts this week, kind of out of the blue. So, coincident, you saw him him that a couple days later he becomes a massonomics customer willed it into existence i see him on the big screen two days later you must have like been sending some juju across some vibes put that into the universe he could just sense my desperation he's like i gotta help this guy out isn't that an odd thing to see though that actually is then uh like you've never seen him before ever you see him and then he's a mass dynamics customer a few days later yeah that is kind of wild also what's wild too is like you can go and maybe it's just because we're talking like i mean relatively
Starting point is 00:35:15 small town midwest in the scheme of things but like in fact you can go to a playoff timberwolves game and run into multiple people that you know yeah at the game at the bars i mean it happens like we ran into several people that we know and it game, at the bars. I mean, it happens. We ran into several people that we know, and it's just like, yeah, this is just what you expect when you come to a place like this. But it's funny. It's Minneapolis. It's not a –
Starting point is 00:35:32 Well, and both the people we saw, like the one person, they lived in Minnesota, but they were like – The same thing happened to us when I was there just prior. Yeah, you do. You just always run into people you know. Like you can go to this stuff, and you can – It'd be weirder if you went and saw someone you didn't see and you didn't see anyone you knew. Like, that would be the more odd scenario.
Starting point is 00:35:49 Yeah. You know what wouldn't be weird? Heading over to the Strength Co. The strength.co is the website, and it wouldn't be weird to purchase some of their Made in America, black E-coated durable rugged smooth easy to grip plates olympic barbell plates they are the i'm going to go ahead and say they are the best olympic iron barbell plates in the game you can't get anything better and they're also a value buy you know the grant and team have
Starting point is 00:36:23 managed to figure out a way to make shipping extremely affordable on these plates which brings the total gross cost to you to be something that's extremely affordable you can look at like the dollar per pound on a pair of 45s and it pencils out put pen to paper it pencils out of something where there's extremely good value but I think they could be 50% more expensive and still worth it. So you can't really, you really, what I'm trying to say is you can't afford not to buy some. So check it out at thestrength.co.
Starting point is 00:36:55 And this episode is also brought to you by Texas Power Bars. And in case you were worried, no, it's still going on. Starting point is 00:38:19 and it's in a drink spot or light here. It's a good and gather sparkling purified water in a recyclable aluminum bottle. Wow. It's been purified by reverse osmosis with added electrolytes and minerals for taste. That's damn near sounds performance enhancing. I hope nobody tests me after this. I'll tell you that much.
Starting point is 00:38:43 I'm curious to see. Oh, get it open to this thing. That's one of those pickle jar opener things. Call in the experts. OK, let's give it a taste. He's going back for a second. Second set. Yeah. It's a plain sparkling water it almost it's actually not flavored no it's not flavored but uh okay it's not flavored but it all it does have a something
Starting point is 00:39:18 to it almost i don't know if it's just the bubbles but it does it just a little bit different how's yours uh it's good i mean it's lemon lime it's as good as any lemon lime i'd say it's just the bubbles but it does hit just a little bit different how's yours uh it's good i mean it's lemon lime it's as good as any lemon lime i'd say it's an easy four yeah okay yeah so world's strongest man did wrap up and by the time you're hearing this obviously it's old news you know we're recording this later than we normally would be because of our time off but did just want to note a couple of things um if you don't know then now you know spoiler alert uh tom stoltman won it was his third world's strongest man title he won back to back a few years ago and now he got his third this year mitchell hooper got second place um and then
Starting point is 00:40:00 third place was big evan big evan singleton, former guest of the Massanomics podcast. So it was cool to see Evan get up there on the podium for the first time. That's one of my number one takeaways. Obviously, World's Strongest Man is stupid and still doesn't, like you don't technically get to see any of the events because it's all hidden for the show that they're going to put on TV like a month later. And it's still been, what, two weeks now? How long will this happen?
Starting point is 00:40:27 Oh, it doesn't air until like Christmas. No, I know. Well, haven't they been scooting them more up until like the summer? Haven't they been doing that lately? Maybe they do. But I mean, no matter what, I think it's stupid. It is. Because everyone that's interested knows exactly what happened
Starting point is 00:40:41 like seconds after it happened. You just don't get to actually see it in its entirety even they've even given into that now like they just the official channel even has it right um i would say prior to the event it was a mitchell hooper and tom stoltman front runner competition it was even prior to starting it was probably you know those it was the odds on favorite for for one of those two to win. And Mitchell Hooper might have been the favorite. I don't know. To me, it could have been a coin flip, I think.
Starting point is 00:41:11 Mitchell Hooper has just been hotter lately. But Tom Soltman is historically really good at World's Strongest Man specifically. So it could have been a coin flip, in my opinion. And probably the X factor is that Mitchell Hooper on his first event of the finals on the frame carry tore his hand up quite terribly, and it negatively affected almost every event after that. But that happens to someone almost every year, doesn't it? That's what I was going to say. Like that is part of the sport. Probably cost.
Starting point is 00:41:41 You know, I don't know if that didn't happen. If he would have won or got second to if it didn't happen he either would have won or got second it happened he got second but like at the elite level of strongman it's basically the reason any of the good ones lose the good guys you know the favorite guys lose is because they get injured like when thor's at his best he only loses when he gets injured what like brian shaw would keep would have kept winning in perpetuity in theory it's just that he gets to the point where he just gets injured all the time and then he's not can't do it anymore so that's kind of i mean he is like that same name of the game potentially about like that potatoes too like
Starting point is 00:42:19 yeah he's he's had the injury bug for several years now and when he's healthy he's right up there with the best of them. Yes. Like big Z in the day, you know, when he was winning all the time. Well, didn't he have one year where he ripped his hand on a frame carry like
Starting point is 00:42:33 right away too. Yeah. I mean that, that exact problem is not uncommon too, but it's my, my point is it's just like the injury thing is what starts eventually these people that are winners at the highest level in strongman this sport. It is injury that brings them down like it is undefeated almost. I mean, it isn't like a crazy thing, though.
Starting point is 00:42:54 Like, look what they're doing. Like, they are at the actual limit. Right. So it makes sense that injury is going to be a common thing. Yes. It's like almost like world's strongest, iest man you know like that's kind of what it comes out last them all right right well and i was even i was trying to find uh the points total um yeah tom stoltman i think ended up winning by it was a decent amount like six or seven yeah yeah it going into the final day um
Starting point is 00:43:27 it wasn't galak still you know like there uh mitch hoop had a couple good events there but the final event was stones so he kind of has that ace in the hole the whole you know it's it's nice when you know the last event is well as certain of anyone going to win any event is you you know having that event as the last event so yeah here's here's the yeah so points tom ended at 53 points with hooper had 47 and a half so right i mean he had that but then when you look at third evan with 36 points is it matthew reg is that how you say his name yeah he has 35 and a half so it was only a half point difference and then this trist was it tristan hoeth i don't i don't know he says yeah hoath i think he's a canadian guy too yeah 33 and a half and then
Starting point is 00:44:17 you go down 31 30 so like the difference between third and seventh was only like five points. Like that's a pretty tight group right there. Yeah. Yeah. Bobby Thompson got injured in the heat. Yeah, I saw that too. Trey Mitchell didn't make it out of the heats and he's been coming back from Achilles injury. That's not particularly surprising to me.
Starting point is 00:44:43 Did Rob Kearney like announce that he was like retiring or something? Yeah, he's retired. Yeah Achilles injury. That's not particularly surprising to me. Did Rob Kearney, like, announce that he was, like, retiring or something? Yeah, he's retired. Yeah, so this was his last show. The other thing I, comment I made in the Discord is, you know, Tom Stoltman has now won three of these World's Strongest Man titles, which is getting to be pretty, you know, that's getting to be in, like, kind of lead of the elite company. And what I wondered is, like, would he start, what would he have to do to start to be on someone's of lead of the elite company yeah and uh what i wondered is like would he start
Starting point is 00:45:05 what would he have to do to start to be on someone's mount rushmore of right all-time strongman you know yeah i mean it keeps going if he has four five six i mean that makes a strong argument for that doesn't it well if he wins one more it makes a really strong argument for him to be on the mount rushmore i I think, you know, three, he's like on the cusp of it probably, but people don't really talk about him quite like that. Like everyone's like, Oh, he's huge.
Starting point is 00:45:31 He's a freak. I think it's really strong. He's the best at stones. I think it's that marketability. He doesn't have that same, you know, he's not in movies. He's not doing stuff like some of these other guys did where he,
Starting point is 00:45:43 where these other guys definitely did have that lighter than life personality and i mean that obviously has nothing to do with his performance but i think that is what is has that carry over and just gives them that huge appeal where people start thinking of because if he was like the trash talking just like had this you know if he was on tv doing all this stuff people people would be like, oh, he's this unstoppable. But instead, he's just kind of this guy that shows up with the world's strongest man. Putting his head down and doing work. Yeah, right. The other comment that people make, and which this is valid,
Starting point is 00:46:13 is that he really shows up for world's strongest man. You can tell his training for the year revolves around him doing well at world's strongest man. So maybe caused by that is a lot of the other events, big events throughout the year, he doesn't perform that well at. He might go get sixth at the next biggest show and seventh or fourth or fifth. And he's not necessarily at the top of the podium
Starting point is 00:46:38 and all these other ones. So someone will say, well, he's not winning the other ones. And that's an interesting conversation, I think, because what he – the comment I made is if I compared it to an NFL season, you're like, oh, you didn't really – You only won nine games. You snuck into the playoffs, but you won the Super Bowl. At the end of the year or in following years, nobody cares about that. You won the Super Bowl.
Starting point is 00:47:03 That's all people remember. But someone else made the comparison. No, it's like World's Strongest Man isn't the Super Bowl to the other ones all being the regular season games. That's too stark of a contrast for what they think it is. They said, no, it's more like golf where there's four majors. And maybe World's Strongest Man is the Masters. And the other ones are just like,
Starting point is 00:47:26 they're still major tournaments. Yeah, just maybe a small notch below. Right. Yeah. And I don't know what of that is true, but it's certainly a discussion. Yeah, that is an interesting way to look at it. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:47:38 Yeah, because if it's like this guy that never wins any of the other four, you know, only ever wins this one major tournament and doesn't win any of the other ones ever? Right. Do you discredit him? Well, it's so hard. But you're talking about a legacy
Starting point is 00:47:55 that's in the making now. So it's... Right. It is, you know, if he goes on to win six World's Strongest Man, it's pretty hard to like discredit that. Yeah, right. But if this is like, if this is it,
Starting point is 00:48:04 like if this what just happened was the pinnacle, then maybe don't credit that. You know? Yeah. Right. But if this is like, if this is it, like if this, what just happened was the pinnacle, then maybe you do look at a little, a little different. Like you still can't deny that he was a great competitor, but it was like, yeah, his three best shows ever were three world's strongest men.
Starting point is 00:48:16 And like, that was it. Maybe that is a little different. I don't know. Right. Only time will tell. Stay tuned tuned that's it for episode 580 in three years where we have updates on this anything else you had from world's strongest man tommy now i just caught the just random highlights on instagram because there's just
Starting point is 00:48:40 nothing else to really see overall i think it's very stupid how they continue to do it not that i know how to run not that i know how to do in this day and age with the number of things that you can do for streaming and just live i think you basically need to get to a uh at least a semi live stream you know like uh mostly live everything is i mean i mean every every basketball and football game around the country is broadcast live like i mean there's no reason that they don't have the budget they can't pull this one off what do we got uh you got several topics in here okay i got okay i got a lot of just random things here one oh so i do this thing all right i went to i went to my college or where i went to secondary education.
Starting point is 00:49:26 I went to a tech school in Alexandria, Minnesota. It's called Alec Tech. That's where I went for graphic design. Two-year school. I don't even know that's what the name of that is. Oh, yeah. I mean, Alexandria Technical College. But yeah, Alec Tech.
Starting point is 00:49:37 Okay. And so that's where I go to school. Two years. And now the last few years I've been on their advisory board. So every year in the spring I go up and they have like a portfolio day for the second year students where you review their portfolios and you know, they present them to you and you give them advice and feedback. And for the most part, they're kind of done for the year.
Starting point is 00:49:57 They're like a week from graduating. So they're not actually, I don't think listening to any of your feedback cause we're like, screw it. No, I'm not changing any of this, but you're still the O and you try and help and it's I mean it is fun to just see what people are cranking because sometimes you're like wow I'm really impressed with the quality of work you're doing like this is some really impressive stuff and other people not so much but sometimes you're like oh you suck you need like 10 more years of school here no uh yeah so it's always fun to go do just see what's going on but every year I get a little older. I graduated from there in 2000.
Starting point is 00:50:27 And they keep staying the same age. Yes, they do. I graduated from there in 2009, which now when I think back, I'm like, damn, that's a long time ago. And then I'll be like talking to someone else. I'm just doing the math in my head. And I'm like, God, it's 2024 right now. That's like 15 years
Starting point is 00:50:46 ago that would mean in 2009 that someone would be someone that graduated like 94 i'm like and then that would be ancient to me you would have been like holy shit and then i'm like oh i graduated 2009 i'm like god is that really that long ago and then i'm talking to someone else that's there and like oh i graduated 2004 and i'm like oh that's so old it's like five years older than me you know right so it's just funny how you how time you know you reflect back on that reference yeah but uh so you always get a wide variety of people with skills and you know some people gravitate more towards illustration and painting things like that some people are more towards just design layout websites everyone has their different thing that they're into and one of the portfolios was very interesting the guy had a lot of illustration paint heavy pieces and it was very unique style and one of the one of the people one of the other advisors
Starting point is 00:51:36 made the comment they're like you know your art kind of because he had some stuff with like some type and things going on she goes it kind of reminds me of like those really baggy jeans from the. Jingo jeans. I'm like, Jingo's? And she goes, yeah. It kind of reminds me of that. And I go, well, okay. I actually kind of do get what you're saying.
Starting point is 00:51:55 I said, but you know what? You know what? I think it also kind of reminds me of when we're saying this to this kid. Yeah. I go, I go, your art kind of reminds me of that, of a Limp Bizkit album cover. I go, you know, Limp Bizkit? He's like, no. Like what?
Starting point is 00:52:12 And a girl. So, cause they were presenting it in like small groups here. What? Wait a second. So just to make sure I understand, this is like a 20 year old. Yeah. I'm guessing he was about 20 ish. You know, maybe a couple years older yeah artistic
Starting point is 00:52:25 i mean if i had to like pick this guy for something like dude you're probably still into limp biscuit and lincoln park if i had to pick and i go okay i'm like probably dating myself a little here but you know limp biscuit and he's like no and one of his i would never even just i would never even think to ask if someone knew who lit biscuit i would just assume that everyone would know who that is. I thought I was sounding so dumb, like asking, like,
Starting point is 00:52:49 do you know who they are? Cause of course everyone knows that. Right. But one of his classmates, one of the girls, she was sitting back behind the advisor and she goes, it's just one of those days. She says that.
Starting point is 00:52:58 And I'm like, okay, thank you. Like someone, so I don't sound like a total idiot. Someone in here knows, but he's like, no,
Starting point is 00:53:04 don't know what you're talking about. And anyways the the album uh significant other with like the guy kind of like reaching out like his art kind of reminded me of that a little bit and that was the point i was trying to get across but i didn't know what limb biscuit was and it blew my mind you mean so like even when there was more elaboration on it he's like never heard of it he just didn't seem to let on to actually knowing anything there yeah but how could that be like i'm not like music is uh that'd be like if if uh you know you were in college and someone said i mean pick something popular at this point now like that early 90s but yeah yeah so now we're saying like 25 years ago so
Starting point is 00:53:46 it's like i don't know we're talking about yeah something from the early 80s i don't know yes i'm just thinking like someone have you ever heard of like an extremely you're right yeah so you're like and you're like no what's that yeah i mean like you haven't heard of them you're unfamiliar all together yeah like smashing pumpkins no i don't know what that is yeah i so i was shocked and maybe you know maybe it was the environment of getting uh your work critiqued by other people you were just kind of out of your element but i was i was really shocked by that one that maybe maybe maybe the world is moving on no i refuse to let that happen always love them or hate them limp biscuit will be known by everyone i mean they really should be there love them or hate them yeah
Starting point is 00:54:32 uh that's i wondered what the limp biscuit topic was it really just was one of the it probably was just one of those days it was just one of those days was one of the it probably was just one of those days it was just one of those days um what about the next one on the list okay curious what this i'm pretty sure we've talked about this before the the business model and the numbers of planet fitness and we probably talked about this i know what this is now i did see this going on yeah okay i've man every once in a while this pops up every couple years a news article that really dives into planet fitness sharing their numbers and it is insane so this this article is from sherwood i've never even heard of this place before but it was linked from a different news website so this is like sherwood.news and it's talking about
Starting point is 00:55:21 the just the plant the business model of planet fitness so currently in 2023 i mean they're a publicly traded company i believe so i'm you know that they've shared these numbers so i'm assuming that's where these came from actually yeah source plant fitness so it comes from them i'm sure they report on it at their what quarterly earnings or whatever the hell they do uh 2023 they have 18.7 million members across the uh across america yeah yeah 18.7 million members across 25 considerably more than massonomics gym it's a few more and uh they got 2500 locations which is also a few more than massonomics what's that what's that pencil out to what's up well okay yeah yeah so that's actually part of her look that's what they're
Starting point is 00:56:05 going to dive into here yeah so 18.7 so anyways some of the some of the quotes to pull out of this it says most of the gyms so they're doing like a just an analysis of the numbers of square footage all of this stuff holy shit yeah so what did you get for your average did you say it's 18 million 18.7 million members so almost 19 million and 2500 locations yep that's like 7500 members per location yes yep okay so what yes so this is where this is what's so insane so yeah it says the company averages 7200 members 7262 members for each location and because it's saying if people actually use the memberships planet fitness would be under constant like well if like reports from the fire marshal yeah right and so it said most gyms are up on 113 hours per week a typical gym is around 20,000
Starting point is 00:56:55 square feet max occupancy ranges from 200 to 350 people at a location like that and it says for all 18.7 million members a plan of fitness to work out for just one hour per week, gyms would need an average of 64 people exercising during all operating hours, which is, you're not seeing 64 people in there at all hours of day. And that's just if everyone's working out just one hour a week. And it says for each of its members to work out at a more regular cadence, such as four times per week, each gym would need an average of 257 people working out at all times, which is just never in a million years happening. Right, right. And that would be distributed evenly across all their operating hours. And everyone knows gyms don't. Oh, God, yes.
Starting point is 00:57:39 You know, those peak hours, you know. And this even says, like, for instance, if 50% of Planet Fitness customers work out weekly and they work out for three hours per week, the company's gyms would have had to be used, would have to be used by an average of 96 customers every hour. Like, so they just have all these charts about how their numbers are just not even possible at all to do. And if Planet Fitness were to maintain its peak attendance
Starting point is 00:58:01 of 50 to 60 attendees all day, only 20% or 3.7 million of its members would be working out four times per week. And that's if they're at peak attendance, you know? So just the numbers don't make sense. Like it's not doable. And what's also crazy, I've never, never been into a planet fitness. I've never had a membership there, but I did not realize that planet fitness also makes it notoriously difficult to cancel your membership. So if you want to sign up, you can just download their, I think you can just download their app, go on their website. It looks like you just give them your credit card and you're in. But if you want to cancel, you have to, this is amazing.
Starting point is 00:58:39 I want to make sure I read that. If you want to cancel your membership, you either have to go to the gym in person or send a written letter in the mail to cancel that's the only way you can cancel and then uh you have to deliver your cancel you know cancellation by the 10th because it may take seven business days to process so uh they so then they're saying given how difficult they make it to cancel their fee of like ten dollars per month most people are just like oh fuck it okay i'll just keep paying forever let it ride rather than deal with these assholes trying to figure out how to cancel this damn thing plan of fitness man but i heard they're they're gonna raise their rates because that's the other thing their rates are so cheap well just think about it even if they raise i don't know are they actually ten dollars per month is
Starting point is 00:59:23 that actually what they cost? Isn't it something like that? I mean, that's what this says here is $10 per month. So even if they raised 30% to $13 per month, do you think they have, I mean, do 5% of people even quit from that? Well, here's the headline, though. Like, this was significant because Planet Fitness to raise new basic membership fee 50% this summer. So what, $15 a month? I don't know. Yeah, that's right.
Starting point is 00:59:50 Membership from 10 to 15 this summer. Well, and people aren't even going. They clearly don't care. So I'm pretty sure that'll just be straight money in the bank for them. Right. Wow. This says, yeah, raising it for the first time in 26 years. That's pretty impressive that they've actually managed to hang on to that for that long but that i mean i what so their rate's going to go up 50
Starting point is 01:00:11 percent what percentage of drop you know they're going to see a drop in customers because of this increase so what percentage is the drop going to be well it's not going to be because people like oh this gym's no one that's going to the gym is going to say well this is too expensive now because there's no cheaper gym option that exists right and then it would just be the people that are getting charged every month which i you know is i don't know what 90 of their customers people that don't actually use the business right and of that 90 you know is it uh do a couple percent of them decide enough is enough 15 is too much? I don't know.
Starting point is 01:00:46 They kind of got them by the balls right now. Right, right. Planet Fitness. More like Planet Shitness. Ever heard that one before? Never heard that in my life. Better make a t-shirt of that. Just made it up right now.
Starting point is 01:01:02 You heard it here first. Planet Shitness. Have you ever been in a planet fitness no never never been in one i would imagine crew falls has some of them yeah oh yeah there's one uh i mean a couple miles from my house do you think sioux falls has 7 000 members that go to um no but they could probably i guess maybe actually they could they could potentially yeah that's not insane to think i mean it is insane to think but also it's not insane to think so yeah i don't know they might who knows uh the only reason i well i what was it a couple weeks ago when i told you I went to Pizza Ranch, the Pizza Ranch is actually in the same strip mall that has the Planet Fitness.
Starting point is 01:01:49 Oh. I did get to see a fair number of people coming in and out of the gym at 6 o'clock on a weeknight. That's busy gym time. Pizza Ranch follow-up, it almost sounded like Big North Dakota Dave made it sound like they might not have chicken fingers anymore. Do they have chicken fingers still? I'm trying to actually think. You know, the chicken fingers were usually in the, at least in the western northeast South Dakota location.
Starting point is 01:02:13 They weren't on the main buffet line. They were in like, well, with the chicken and mashed potatoes, like in that separate. Yeah. See, I never really would go for those, so I don't know. And actually, my kids, I think we just got chicken and just like actually tore it up. But if you had never even considered to get them a chicken finger, they must not have them anymore.
Starting point is 01:02:35 Because if they were just sitting there, you probably would have been like, hey, try this. Yeah, that's a good question. I don't know. That was kind of one of the staple items, in my opinion. See, I've never had a huge chicken finger, guys. Yeah. So I could have just.
Starting point is 01:02:49 And by chicken fingers, these things were like a chicken fry. It's like a chicken fry. Yeah. Yeah. That's right. Right. Yeah. That's a good question.
Starting point is 01:02:57 I don't know. Someone maybe can help us out there. Does Pizza Ranch still have chicken fries? Get our insider on it. Yes. I got a i got a geography question tanner oh well you've come to the right place i know all geography answers so so there's this there's this oddity you know we we like to be specific when describing a geographic location or obviously yeah and there's an oddity i've noticed where it seems like people on the east coast
Starting point is 01:03:25 like to refer to certain portions of their state as upstate i hear grant refer to it a lot he says that all the time he says that all the time uh i hear when i think of upstate i think of new york i just think of upstate new york i don't even know what that means and i hear that's what i think of when i hear the word upstate me too i mean I feel like that applies to like the northeast like Maine like upstate Maine I just feel like those words apply to that part of the country um we have a very large state which means we would have a very large upstate I've never once heard anyone refer to any part of our country as anything upstate ever have you oh and it would be very weird if someone said oh upstate south dakota or like so what what what i mean are we just talking the northern half of the that's what i don't even totally get it
Starting point is 01:04:10 like because even minnesota is a state that is as tall as north dakota and south dakota minnesota is a very tall state right they don't have an upstate they have northern minnesota like people like northern minnesota is a thing right right people say that northern south dakota you don't really hear that discussed a whole lot and i even feel i feel like northern uh minnesota is a thing. Right, right. People say that. Northern South Dakota, you don't really hear that discussed a whole lot, though. And I feel like Northern Minnesota is a thing because how different it is. It is, yes. You say Northern Minnesota because it's like
Starting point is 01:04:34 you have a picture in your head. Like you're talking like thick woods. Like you are escaping to the woods and kind of leaving civilization behind. Right, that's why it even has that name at all, I think, is because it's just so much different. Lakes, cabins, woods. Yeah, no cities.
Starting point is 01:04:51 It's out there. But, you know, northern South Dakota is not really a thing. Northern North Dakota is not really a thing. Like, very much northeast South Dakota is a thing. Like, that is absolutely a thing always. Southeast South Dakota is a thing. Western South Dakota is a thing. But you absolutely a thing always. Southeast South Dakota is a thing. Western South Dakota is a thing. But you don't hear
Starting point is 01:05:08 the terminology of people don't really divide it by North and South. Definitely nobody says upstate. Nobody does divide it by North and South and that's not the way the state is really laid out in any way. I mean the division is North and South Dakota. But we don't have a North North Dakota and a North South Dakota.
Starting point is 01:05:24 We divisioned it so much that they became separate states. We just formally divided it to stop that confusion there. But you don't hear that. I've never heard anyone say upstate California. They definitely have it. It's Northern California.
Starting point is 01:05:38 Right, right. You would say Northern California, yeah. But for that matter, I've never heard of anyone say upstate. It just sounds like an East Coast thing when I hear upstate. That must be a fancy East Coaster thing. If you're like a fancy East Coast person, you say upstate. It's got to be.
Starting point is 01:05:52 Just something I was thinking about. I didn't know if maybe I'd missed something along the lines and it wasn't making sense to me or if you had any additional insights there. But it sounds like I was thinking about this correctly. Yeah, and Grant jokes about the North. He's also a member of the North-South State thing. Yes. With the Carolinas and then also the Dakotas.
Starting point is 01:06:13 We have that connection there. It's funny. When you live in them, you obviously know the differences. When you don't, they're just interchangeable. They're so interchangeable. Yes. When you're not there and haven't been there you don't live there it seems like it's all the same right but yes it is but on that same topic though
Starting point is 01:06:34 virginia and west virginia you don't confuse those ones ever that's true because it's not north and south right it's only in the west eastsouth states. Yeah, right. Ah, so upstate, yes. Okay. We should maybe hit on this next topic. This is actually kind of some home Jim Con follow-up that I think is interesting. This is almost like a behind-the-scenes thing that we didn't discuss anywhere else and probably we weren't going to throw on a video. So our second video that came out was kind of a a booth tour video where we interviewed like six or seven different uh booth operators and you know the owners of the company
Starting point is 01:07:15 and had them show us around you know we did atx prx black widow a bunch of them, ATX being a pretty large international company. You know, we got like, they even wanted to wait until they had like the top guy, like he was gone. And they're like, no, we'll get him. Can we flag you down and you come back later so you can talk with Flo? Because like he's like this RCOO, you know, he's like the guy we want to do this with you.
Starting point is 01:07:43 Rep, we did it with Adam, who's, you, who you commonly see him doing those things for people. It's kind of part of his role there, I think. A lot of different booths. Everyone very welcoming, very nice. Every one of these booths, they're actually excited for you to do it even, I think. They're like, okay, great. This is kind of why we're here. Press, publicity, perfect.
Starting point is 01:08:04 Right. It's one of the reasons we're here. Like ATX subs, most of these companies, if they didn't follow us already, they did start following us because of that and like reaching out and stuff. But ATX, like they're like everything that they've been in that we've included them on there, like make sure to message and say like, oh, awesome. Thanks so much for coming. Like we enjoyed it. Like they're making a conscious effort. Well, like oh awesome thanks so much for coming like we enjoyed
Starting point is 01:08:25 it like they're making a conscious effort well i would just say kudos to them america is this hollywood we're in right now right and like all the companies we did that are doing that but i just they stick out in particular because they're like a german company and like this larger german company doing interesting stuff and like for them to still be like recognize that the press and publicity is and like for them to still be like recognize that the press and publicity is just good for them but there was one booth there that was handled like drastically different that a noteworthy different way than all the other ones at least from our from the massonomics experience a hundred percent and that booth is rogue and i gotta say this really changed my perspective on this company totally a hundred percent did and not in a good
Starting point is 01:09:15 way and so to start this whole thing off i i am not a rogue hater i think rogue makes a super high quality product if someone is starting a home gym and they bought all Rogue, I don't knock them one bit because I know basically across the board, they got good stuff at a reasonable price. In my limited experience of having a home gym, it's going to get to your door. When it says it's going to get there, it's going to arrive packaged up properly, and you're going to have a good quality American-made product.
Starting point is 01:09:44 I 100% get why people buy rogue totally understand that um but where am i where my just view on this company changed so much is at home gym con it's great they're there that's awesome they're there the guys at the booth even were great they were awesome nice guys i i would add that there's two guys specifically that i talked to for quite a while at the booth. It's funny. I saw it in some B-roll. I didn't even realize where you were at one point. I was talking to those guys.
Starting point is 01:10:14 I'm like, oh, he was shooting B-roll of me talking to those guys. I didn't even notice that at the time. And you even made the comment. You're like, oh, super cool guys. Really nice. They've bought stuff from us before. Yes. They were awesome. Like they were really as good as anyone there.
Starting point is 01:10:25 Yes. And so what we were doing, the video we were shooting is we were just going to different companies that like, we know what's going on to a certain extent, or like we just boost that we thought were noteworthy. And you were going up to kind of the guy in charge of whatever booth it was. And just, you said, Hey, can we shoot a video here? We're just going to ask you like a question and everyone was like, yes, let's do this. do this and the question was just hey if you had one piece of equipment you could show me what would that be and so we were shooting you know two to four minute video segments at each booth and when you get to the rogue booth you come up with the camera and they kind of look at you with this face right away yeah and you go hey we want to do this thing we just
Starting point is 01:11:00 want to shoot a video well can we have one of you guys on camera they got nah sorry we're not allowed to be on camera and i was just like what do you work for city bank like are you are you a financial advisor where you're not allowed to have public opinions because it will shape markets and change things no you make fitness equipment you make metal things in america and in america like it's the dumbest thing I've ever heard. Also, we're at a trade show where you're out promoting. Yes, at a trade show for this. It's not even like a gotcha. This isn't our environment.
Starting point is 01:11:32 We're at your booth to do this damn thing. Albeit us being kind of goofballs, like in comparison maybe to some people. It wasn't a gotcha or anything, though. No, and we're notably there doing coverage you know you've anyone that's there saw us walking around all weekend like filming things doing interviews like they know who we like it's obvious like and we want you guys to look good too because like it makes us look good like right like we're here to try and make something cool and they're obviously there they have a banging
Starting point is 01:12:03 booth their stuff looks awesome they have high quality stuff. I get it. I a hundred percent get it. If a company says like, we don't want every single person or company to be on camera representing us. I totally understand that too. But to go to a convention like this and not even have one designated guy that's allowed to just have a media presence blows my mind. Like that is the closest thing you get to like a no fun, no personality, lame corporate company that exists. That is so lame for Roan to have that position.
Starting point is 01:12:32 It is lame. It is fricking lame. We've encountered one other company that's been somewhat had a similar take like that. And they're a comparable company, not an equipment manufacturer per se. I won't, I'm not going to throw them under the bus too, because we're company, not an equipment manufacturer per se. I'm not going to throw them under the bus too because we're not really,
Starting point is 01:12:48 not even trying to throw Rogue under the bus. I'm just honestly like, I just think it's lame. It is. It's just like a really lame. They have a cool company. They make cool shit. Like why do you have that approach? Cool, knowledgeable employees there
Starting point is 01:13:02 that are like charismatic. they know about all their stuff like we're talking to them they know about all this stuff there but like they could have done even had an awesome video with us yes before we even had them on camera you go oh man i was because i was when i was shooting the b-roll and you came over like oh i was talking to those guys they're really cool because we've never really talked to anyone at rogue before except at the arnold you never have a chance to and i'm just thinking sweet, sweet. Like Tanner said, these guys are cool. These will be great on camera. And what really was the contrast? This was before we even went there. We were at the, we were at the rep booth and we show up and they're like, Hey, can we do a video? They're
Starting point is 01:13:36 like, absolutely. That's what we're here for. And it's like, that is the only answer. And it is the right answer that yes, that is exactly what you're here for, to tell people about your shit and to have a presence. So I just, ah, I get it. I just think it's really lame. It's just a real lame vibe that I get off of that. It's like the most corporate. And it's not those guys that are there, their decision either, obviously, their employees.
Starting point is 01:13:57 It's coming from somewhere bigger at Rogue, but it's the most corporate, lamest, dumbest position. I get it if you work in the financial or medical industry, but you're freaking Rogue. You make equipment like come on guys yeah so i like your point you know you might go into that say hey we're bringing six employees you're the guy that's like i totally understand too you're right like yeah if we have one designated guy yeah so we have one designated but like you can't even go to an event like that and have one guy that's allowed to be on camera. Really disappointing.
Starting point is 01:14:29 So like that, that things like that, honestly really do make me not want to buy rogue stuff. Like that is the type of thing that I'm like, I'll just find some like rep. We talked to Adam. Adam was awesome. We had a cool conversation with him.
Starting point is 01:14:42 It makes you more want to buy something. Absolutely. Or Bells of Steel, K-Von, obviously. Yes. Bells of Steel, that goes without saying. And I have more Bells of Steel stuff in my gym than anything, and I've bought in all of it. And it's because K-Von is awesome.
Starting point is 01:15:02 And it's just so. Basically, every single company there. We had an encounter with, I'd be more inclined to buy something. Oh yeah. From them after the encounter than I was beforehand, whether I had, I might've had a good opinion on their company beforehand even, but just like after those positive encounters, you're like, okay. Yeah. Yeah.
Starting point is 01:15:19 Well, you told me, I get, I like you guys. Yeah. You talked to Steve at clever. You said, I'm buying a double deadlift check. Give me that thing. Right. You know, you talked to Dean at blackver. You said, I'm buying a double deadlift jack. Give me that thing. You talked to Dean at Black Widow. You're like, I will be buying something soon here. Well, that's our transitioning into the equipment portion of it.
Starting point is 01:15:35 So I saw you post something. You have gotten something from a home gym con manufacturer since then you just posted it this week you got yeah I bought a barbell anchor from Darko at Darko lifts so if someone's if you if you're paying attention to home gym stuff you probably know who he is but uh let me let me just say what the actual oh seriously did you see did you see he ordered from massonomics this week too yes I did see that um yeah yeah darko lifting.com he makes the barbell anchor it's like this little thing it kind of looks like an anchor piece of metal with some plastic on it to protect your barbell that you hang from the top of your
Starting point is 01:16:15 rack so you can put bars for overhead storage your safety squat bar mars bar whatever and they look really cool and so i got to see him in person got to meet him and i'm like yes you were cool, you were cool. You have a cool product. I want to buy something from you. And so I got the barbell anchor. It showed up yesterday and it looks great. I got it installed and I'm pumped and it's awesome. And that's just one of those things where, I mean, I was planning on buying one anyways, but I knew he was going to be there. So I'm like, I got to see these things in person, see what they're all about. And it's, it's really cool. And so that's one of those things that, yes, I did buy that. Yeah, you mentioned the Cleva double deadlift jack.
Starting point is 01:16:51 I actually have reached out to them. He said he could round. They don't really have the double for sale. Which is surprising. I feel like they would move those things like crazy. But he said he could round up the equipment, so they're going to invoice me for one of those, and I'll be having one of those coming. I did buy another barbell rescue brush.
Starting point is 01:17:09 Ah, that's on my list here. For a century there, I'm like, I'm going to buy another one of those. So I bought a second of those, which does fit perfectly in the drink spotter light. For anyone that is kind of thinking, maybe I should have one at a barbell rescue brush on every rack in the drink spotter light. Just to eliminate one more possible excuse for someone to not. That also really drags into people's head like, oh, I should be using this. It's here, which means I'm supposed to use it.
Starting point is 01:17:34 Right. And I did use code unpaid. So that saves me, I think, like 10% off or something like that, too. I haven't yet bought it, but I am going to the 2-inch knurled axle bar from Black Widow. And those are really cool. Yeah, I'm going to get one of those. Actually, even with shipping, I think it's under $300. Yeah.
Starting point is 01:17:56 So those are my main equipment things so far. The coolest thing about that bar is probably that finish, that powder coat that he puts on it. Even the powder coat has a level of grip to it. Yeah, it does. That's a really cool axle bar to get to it yeah it does that that's a really cool axle bar to get for sure yes that's a good piece is there anything else that we saw there that you feel like you well i'm gonna i'm gonna get a barbell rescue brush here pretty soon i just haven't ordered one yet because i try to not use chalk as much as possible but i have finally started using a little bit and so i got to get that bar cleaned up so i'll get one of those
Starting point is 01:18:22 ordered pretty soon here i'm trying to think of just specifically things at home gym con that i need to oh um i don't know probably some well i did actually just buy some more single bar holders from bells of steel for holding bars from my rack you know i'm trying to avoid putting bars on the wall because then it takes into flag space. You know, it's eating up into that area. So between I have two single barbell holders and the anchor, that's enough for four storage, one in the rack. So that's enough for five bars.
Starting point is 01:18:55 I feel like I'm probably good for a while at that point. Yeah, yeah. That sounds good. So we did get to find some old from personal gym equipment stuff there that we need then oh and i did the the nice people at cleva they did give us a deadlift jack a single oh yeah gotta get that car carpus we thought about bringing down a plane it easily would fit in one of our carry-on bags we're like we're talking to surprisingly like an axe going we're talking to Goob. Surprisingly, like an axe going through.
Starting point is 01:19:26 We were talking to Goob, actually, I think, at the time. And he looked at it because they wanted to give him one, too. And he's like, you know, that thing looks exactly like a hatchet, right? Yeah. And I'm like, yeah, this literally looks like a weapon in every way. Just flip it upside down. Oh, yes. It's like styled in a way that it almost looks like a weapon even you know yeah it looks like coach carp has that one yeah gotta drop that in
Starting point is 01:19:50 the mail so i'll have that showing up at the gym here sometime yeah you know i did have a feeling actually from like reviewing some of our video footage of it that um we're so busy like kind of working when we're there that in some ways I even was looking at me like you had b-roll of me I was just messing around on that one bench doing like really short and I just like that bar I was using like I saw it in the video and I'm like what bar is that even and I hadn't realized it was like this all custom home gym con bar yeah and i feel like i never even like paid attention to it and looking through the video and other stuff i'm like i feel like i didn't really if i was just there just hanging out i would have like paid way more attention yeah you get numb to it because you're like ah well we're kind of here well i mean we go we have a pretty set game plan
Starting point is 01:20:42 when we're going like we're here to capture these moments for these purposes and like kind of working the entire time yeah that's sort of at the top of our mind like and i was even to your credit like the first day i'm like oh like let's save this all for tomorrow you're like do we really want to save all of that for tomorrow i think we should do this and i'm so glad we did because it would have made the second day just a nightmare trying to get all those videos done i probably have a bad habit of being too much on a one-track mind of wanting. I'm like, no, we need to do the work. It's like we've got to do the work stuff, and it's hard for me to get out of that mode.
Starting point is 01:21:16 But that's what we were there for. It was a limited time. Right, right. It was good the way it worked out because it would have just turned the second day into just way more stressful than it needed to be because we would have just been running around too much. I just can't really shut that off of my brain that much because that's my point. I'm looking at it and I'm like,
Starting point is 01:21:33 oh, wait a second, I love this stuff. I would have liked to have been just straight up browsing it more. And that is the thing too. If we weren't there for this, and if we really were going, I mean, some of these guys, I think I got the impression watching the videos that they went and just talked to the owner of every single booth and was like, what do you got going on here?
Starting point is 01:21:53 And, I mean, that would have been cool, but then we just, like, you would need a full two days to do that, and we already didn't have a full two days. And then to do our whole thing already, it's just there's not enough time there. Yeah. What about any other, not Home Gym Con related, but just the garage gym? Is there any garage gym updates?
Starting point is 01:22:11 There's a few small updates, few small updates. You put the safety squat bar together too. Yes, so because the barbell anchor showed up, that means I have a place to actually store the safety squat bar. So the safety squat bar got put together yesterday. Just notes on packaging. Okay. So the one you were said two boxes,
Starting point is 01:22:28 what's going on here. It is because the second package does have the pad, which is kind of what I figured. Cause it didn't weigh anything, but I was like cutting into it. But you're always, you're always cautious. Cause you don't know what you're cutting into,
Starting point is 01:22:38 but that pad is right at the top of the box. And there is nothing that indicates like caution pad inside. Careful cutting. I'm like, if I was a less careful person, you could so easily because the box is the exact height of the pad. There's no extra room in there. Like you wouldn't even have to be that not careful to cut into this thing. So I was kind of surprised that there was no warning, no nothing of what's in the box. Otherwise, oh yeah, you put it together.
Starting point is 01:23:04 You kind of do the thing you're like what size the top and bottom for putting the pad in right but i've never actually on velcroed that pad to see how that works before so uh it doing that and also uh makes me realize that man the safety squat bar that last time i was using the ssb was at a gym like six months ago and that one was the only time in my life where it actually, I have like this weird shoulder injury on my left shoulder where the bone actually does stick up more. And it would, once I'd start to get over 300, it would start to hurt that bone on my shoulder. And I just kind of thought like, oh man, maybe that's just
Starting point is 01:23:41 how this pad was. But once I do this one again, I'm like, oh my God, this pad is enormous. Like on a brand new. Oh yeah. And even the Mastinomics one gets used a lot. So it is broken in a little bit. I'm standing up and I'm just like, I don't think I could ever break this in. It's such a big pad. I don't remember being that thick and that big. So that did surprise me there.
Starting point is 01:24:00 But I haven't got to do anything with it yet because it was just yesterday that I got it taken apart. Got the barbell anchor. I did order, this was a couple weeks ago, I did order some fat grips, just, you know, one of those dumb things to, I shouldn't say dumb, but just one of those little things. It's like, I don't know, what are they, $25 or whatever. You're like, okay, I better get these. So I got those, and then I did order some band band pegs but not for the purpose of using them as
Starting point is 01:24:28 band pegs i got them for the purpose of using them to hold my one inch weight plates for my gungnir dumbbells to get those off the ground so i'll just slide those style yeah let's just throw those through and uh get all those plates cleaned up I'm trying to think if there's anything else. I think that is about it for right now. Nothing too crazy or exciting. Have I gotten anything at Massanomics Gym? I think last time we talked, you got... I brought the three barbells back.
Starting point is 01:25:03 Yeah. You know, the Texas squat bar, Texas squat bar. Right. Well, yeah. Actually, have we talked about that about that on air really did we mention that on the last one i don't know because it would have been at home gym con i'm not sure if we actually brought that up other than maybe like a quick ad segment part but yes you did add three more keys bars yeah so i got the three used texas bars the deadlift bars, the orange one, the squat and power were both black zinc, used but in really good condition.
Starting point is 01:25:33 What else? I've got a few things that I'm probably going to be ordering soon, but we won't let the cat out. It's more fun to talk about it when they get here than when I order it. got i got one pretty big piece on order that's going to take a while i'm very excited for this one yeah so this will be a fun then i bought all that used strongman well while we were at home gym con oh yeah maybe i don't did we talk about this i don't think we did actually i secured a bunch of like this was while i was having a message about it, right while we were literally at home gym con working on stuff.
Starting point is 01:26:09 I bought a bunch of high-end used Strongman equipment. So I got the MB Power Center 12-inch log. I got the MB Power Center loadable globe circus dumbbell. And they don't even really make that one anymore, right? They don't really make that only by special request. It's like a $1,000 circus dumbbell. The log is like a $1,000 log. What else do I get?
Starting point is 01:26:38 Oh, I got the MB Power Center top-loaded farmer's handles. power center top loaded farmer's handles i got uh a rep fitness yoke and i think that that's a majority of it and then oh a few sets of crash pads use crash pads and that all okay and that was all one deal that i got that coming so the log will get used at the Lift Hard Live Easy Classic for the log event for the men, heavyweight men. And big men and bigger men will use that log. But I haven't actually picked that stuff. It's all sitting in Rapid City at my sister-in-law's house, so I need to get out there and pick that stuff up this summer.
Starting point is 01:27:18 Oh, I'm sure they'll find it just being there forever. Yeah, like in my mind, in the stuff, you name it off, I'm like, well, the yoke comes apart apart and it's just a log and the dumbbell and like it doesn't take up that much space but then like at garage or at home gym con that's when i saw this dumbbell in person for the first time and i'm like oh this thing is huge like just this dumbbell alone is significantly bigger than the yoke like yeah whether it's taken apart or together. Also it has several pieces that takes up some room. A log is enormous too.
Starting point is 01:27:51 Yeah. Yeah. And she sent me the picture. I'm like, oh yeah, oops. That's bigger than what I was planning. My bad. Yeah. It's a really good deal though.
Starting point is 01:28:01 So it's kind of doing me a solid. You're just going to have to hang on to those for me. So the strongman equipment section of Mastodonics is getting a big tune up there. Yeah, it'll be. How about a little sack segment? Yes. Okay. I've got a couple things.
Starting point is 01:28:16 One of this you already know about. This is from Home Gym Con, and this is from Big Cave On. He hooked us up. And I've actually got yours here, Tommy, that you're going to be wanting to have, I think. So he got us the Canadian version of Zins. He smuggled them across the border from us. So I'm holding them up on camera here.
Starting point is 01:28:38 It's Zonic, Zonic nicotine pouches. And these, he got us Tropical Breeze and Berry Frost. And these are the four milligram size of this. And I have not had one yet. I do still have, from our trip to the Arnold. Those coffee zins, is that what they were? Those coffee, yeah, and those are two milligram ones. And I.
Starting point is 01:29:04 Those ones got double the punch i had two of those on the arnold driving trip in emergent times of emergency late night when i needed like to not fall asleep and i also had one i had one on my drive home about the halfway point coming back from home gym call you did when I was driving under the influence or riding under the influencer of nicotine. And it was also in an effort of just keeping my eyes open at like one in the morning when I was, yeah, I guess I never really actually got to talk to you about that drive home.
Starting point is 01:29:36 That, that must've been pretty rough, right? Yeah. The first half or I always just know that first half is going to be okay. And then I just start to get the road hypnosis of, like, you know. Well, there's no cars. You don't see any cars in that second half. No. So I think I've had three of those in my life so far.
Starting point is 01:29:52 Those are the two milligram, I think, the smallest that they make. And it is enough for me, honestly. Like, that two milligrams is enough. This four I would be nervous about even taking. You've got to start somewhere, right? Next thing you know, you're hitting the eights or whatever the hell. I'm trying to get hooked. I am going to leave it. I like it as a... That's why they're in my
Starting point is 01:30:10 pickup because if it's like a driving and I'm getting sleepy thing, especially if it's in the afternoon or evening or night, because it doesn't give me this residual not be able to sleep later thing like caffeine does. Midnight. So it does serve that
Starting point is 01:30:28 purpose for me so that was our canadian uh canadian part of sack and this is not canadian this is from other friend of the podcast see if i can scoop my ass out of here to get it first and these i have not actually opened yet oh you have something here and i have something here it's quite interesting as a matter of fact and uh i'm not gonna open it yet i'm not gonna try it yet until you get yours and i think we should uh i think we'll do a youtube video and we won't we won't try these either of us like we'll get our actual first impression in the YouTube, whether that's when you're here next or I'm there next and we're recording YouTube.
Starting point is 01:31:10 But this is from Big Basement Brandon. He hooked us up after our discussion here. And what he sent us are the Pioneer. The Pioneer. They're literally in the package. I'm not even going to open up yet, because I want it to be like literally, legitimately us opening it up for the first time
Starting point is 01:31:30 and trying them on. The Pioneer knee sleeves, like these are the heavy duty ones. And I would just say this. This is so fucking heavy. Compared to the old floppy SBD we've had for 10 years. Yes, because I've never had these, I've never had these.
Starting point is 01:31:48 I've never even messed with anyone that has these. I haven't touched the heavy ones yet. I have no idea what they even were. When you get these in your hands, you'll be like, what the fuck is that? Literally, even just in the package, I'm like, what is this made of? I'm like, this is a different product than what i think of as knee sleeves like historically someone could say that's equipped lifting and you'd be like well yeah of course it is i'm like how is because how is this the same material that of what our others were made of or you know like how where were the rules bending here that this is like the same thing
Starting point is 01:32:25 because this is not the same thing you got my attention now yeah i'm excited to try these out now i haven't tried them on yet and right so that's the other thing is did we get the right size actually too well that's the other thing because we also we both we picked that we both picked the same size too so we did which is but they said so the chart is you measure off of your calf yeah and right what was it like? I think yours was like a half an inch bigger than mine. Right. But I'm like, yeah, like it says, do not size down.
Starting point is 01:32:52 You will not get these on it. I don't need the maximum rebound out of them. And like looking at those now, how thick those look. Yeah. I think the right move is to not size down. Right. Yeah. I, it's making me worried.
Starting point is 01:33:03 But what size do you, well, what's actually, what size do you wear in the SBDs? Do you know? It's probably, I think it's XL me worried but what size do you well what's actually what size do you wear in the spds do you know it's like probably i think it's xl but i'm not even i see i think in the spds i have pretty tight ones i want to say do i have mediums in those okay or maybe it's largest i don't know i just know i do have a spot i have a feeling with these either i'm going to think mine are too small or you'm going to think mine are too small or you're going to think yours are too big. I don't really know what it's going to be, but maybe that won't be the case. I don't know.
Starting point is 01:33:32 I am curious to try them out, though. Yeah. I mean, this is, like, so much heavier than what a package of SBD and East Leaves would be like. Holding it up, it's like you have a pillow in your hand over there. It's hard to describe. It'll be curious to get your take on it too. I mean, now I've talked it up too much and you won't be able to help but notice it.
Starting point is 01:33:55 But I really had the uneducated opinion on it when I grabbed it. But the only knee sleeves I ever touch are my SPDs, which I have had since, I don't know, 2015 or 2016. They're damn near 10 years old. So they're just going to feel like a less product compared to those. So I think that that'll be fun. And I'll be curious to actually try squatting with them. I haven't worn any sleeves to squat with for quite a while. So I'll be curious, you know, I think it'd be a, uh, though, like our first reaction to them.
Starting point is 01:34:25 And then a video of us trying to get them on and using them for the first time. Talking about it like it's hard to do knee sleeves. Like I don't know what's going on. And then we find out we both ordered the wrong size. And it's like, oh, boy. Yeah. Either they don't go on or they fit terribly. But thank you to Basement Brandon for hooking us up with that.
Starting point is 01:34:44 Maybe it'll be our new thing is that neither of us can live without the, the fancy new knee. That was, that was what was finally missing to get a strong, wasn't it? That's been the missing piece. That's actually what's been holding me back. I'm a little worried of now that that's the thing holding me back this whole
Starting point is 01:34:57 time. Huh? I actually, I don't have a true sack segment, but I do got to give a shout out to my, my dark old anchor um they uh he did throw in a little custom massonomics logo plate oh that's cool 3d printed one it's red with the white massonomics logo and it is 3d printed so the white does stick up a little bit uh to throw
Starting point is 01:35:20 that on my rack so that is a cool little extra piece that i wasn't expecting to have inside the package did look really cool yeah no that that I wasn't expecting to have inside the package. That did look really cool. Yeah, no, that looked pretty sweet. Yeah, you could say there's quite a bit of red on the rack now. Things are really starting to pop over there. It does really pop, doesn't it? Mm-hmm.
Starting point is 01:35:35 Do we want to do supporting our supporting members? Let's do it. Okay, preface of this one. This has been... It's been a while. It's been a while. It's been a while. I tried to include as much stuff as I have been catching over the last couple weeks on this.
Starting point is 01:35:51 I'm sure I missed a lot because it's been a while, but we do have a fairly lengthy list here, so we'll run down our supporting members. So this is a segment if you're... We didn't actually... Well, we kind of did supporting our supporting members in the last two weeks. We just gave shout outs to the people that were actually in the room with us for recording live.
Starting point is 01:36:10 But to add a little more color to it, this is a little thing we like to do to give back to our supporting members each week. You can also become a supporting member by heading over to massanomics.com slash join. Part of what you get is being able to make it on here. You know, another thing you get is access to our exclusive online Discord community. It's the only way you get in on that. And other things you get are there's a discount code. You get to know about drops before they happen. You get early access to our drops.
Starting point is 01:36:39 Sometimes, even recently here and maybe coming up again, there's some stuff that you only can even get if you are a supporting member it's in the business call that exclusive merch yeah there could be like old stuff from the past that people really enjoyed that we only make available again to supporting members um so all kinds of ben all kinds of bennies you can get and also getting a shout out here so big ryan johnson competed in powerlifting can get, and also getting a shout-out here. So Big Ryan Johnson competed in a powerlifting meet. Jacked in ginger. Hit a 5'13 squat, 352 bench PR, and a 578 deadlift PR.
Starting point is 01:37:14 So well done on the PRs. P-R-E-R, that's what they always say, right? Mm-hmm. And then Big Zach was competing, and another supporting member, Big Zach, was there supporting him, I believe, members supporting members, members supporting supporting members. And Big Zach went 8 for 9 with a 5.02 squat PR, 3.19 bench PR, and a 13.06 total PR.
Starting point is 01:37:44 Dadgum cough going on over here. Big Katie, she pulled 365-pound deadlift for a 20-pound PR while lifting at a brewery event. Sounds like my kind of event. That's a good spot to do it. Yeah. Big Hogan and Big Karp both competed at the home gym con strongman. That sounds like trouble.
Starting point is 01:38:05 Yep. Big George Green and Big Kurt Locker were both helping run the event. Big Jake put on home gym con, the whole damn thing. Several others that we saw there. We talked about those in the prior week. Then we got Big Joe Wil wilhelm listen to this one he had a 1934 pound total wow at 298 pounds and 22 years old geez so a 1934 total he big joe is not messing around is he yeah he is he is not holding anything back no big garrett said they raised over five thousand dollars at their ryan hanks lift-a-thon
Starting point is 01:38:46 nice big ethan got married hit a family pr on the marriage very good enjoy the funeral uh big chris hornick competed at rapid city us apl me to meet that meet that Tommy and I are not strangers to. You could say our roots go back to there. Yes, they went 9-for-9 with a 4.46 squat, 264 bench, 5.12 deadlift for a 12.23 total PR. That's a nice meet Big Chris put together there. Big Jory also competed there. I do not have his numbers, but I know he lifted in that same meet. They got a picture together.
Starting point is 01:39:23 Happy to see that. not have his numbers but i know he lifted in that same meet they got a picture together happy to see that big sneas competed in a uspa meet and won a medal that's all the further details say no more uh uh big bryce the beast from the southeast competed at the ed cone classic this wet last weekend. He had himself a meet as well. He did a 754 squat, 405 bench, 730 deadlift, 1880 total, 78 pound total PR. Looks like he also came back with a couple of hundred pound York. Yeah. Double-sided plates. He's won in several ways. Said he's going to be kind enough to bring those to Mass.
Starting point is 01:40:05 Drop them off. Big Matt and Big Lou were also both there in attendance. Then I've got Big Mo hit a 5K PR. He competed in a little 5K with about 31 minutes, maybe, if I understand minutes and seconds and stuff like that. If it's metric or standard, it's hard to tell. They start throwing in Ks, and I just don't know what they're talking about. Running 5Ks.
Starting point is 01:40:32 So well done, Big Mo. Thank you to all of our supporting members this week. A long, illustrious list of supporting members. And also, thank you to juggernaut ai oh it's the training that that tommy's using right now as he's kind of getting stronger you talked about his rp yes i am i'm on week uh just uh show you here i'm on week 10 baby week 10 and do you got it uh just coincidentally peaked you for uh i'm just certain coincidentally just saying I'm 66 days out. So make up that.
Starting point is 01:41:08 Whatever that falls sometime in 2024. So if you could be like Tommy, you can use it, set up your peak date. You know, that could be a meet. If you had a meet coming up, you set up your meet date, and then it programs you right up to that meet, going through your hypertrophy blocks, strength blocks, and then peaking blocks. So hopefully setting you up to hit meet going through your hypertrophy blocks strength blocks and then peaking blocks so hopefully setting you up to hit some big numbers hopefully prs at uh through that
Starting point is 01:41:32 peaking phase through your meet day and like the way it's going for tommy you know he's got scheduled rp10 days like the on his deadlift i said well is that an rp 10 he's like well supposed to be an rp 10 but it was like an rp 7 just get too strong over here yeah did anyone warn you you don't want to get too strong about once you gotta save some for the next day i have heard that before something i've been very aware of um for anyone that wants to check it out find out more please go to the web site that's juggernautai.app. Don't go directly to the app. Go to the website first because that's where you can use discount code MASSANOMICS if you choose to sign up.
Starting point is 01:42:10 And please choose to sign up. It's only about $30 a month after that MASSANOMICS discount code. You almost can't afford not to do it. Juggernautai.app. Today's episode is also brought to you by SwissLink. That's right, SwissLink, the military surplus experts that you didn't know you needed. Just hopped onto their website right now, Tanner. Would you like to know what one of their newest arrivals is?
Starting point is 01:42:33 Yes, I would really like to know. That's right. It's time to get cozy with some British sleeping bags. And man, these things are looking top notch. You know, it's summertime here in the midwest or i should say know how to sleep too i should say summertime's right around the corner which means camping and camping means that's right sleeping bags so i'm looking through here we got all types of them uh you know you were a military guy tan i got the ones that zip up around your around your
Starting point is 01:43:02 head kind of like a coat you know yeah british people terrible food excellent sleeping bags it's kind of what they're known for sleeping bags and beans on toast yeah it's their biggest national exports so they got those they got classic wool blankets they got coats parkas shirts sweaters they got survival gear they got backpacks they got pretty much anything you can think of that's involved in the military outside of actual guns because that's not what they sell but all the loops you got to jump through for those i think yeah they're trying to make this business or find them illegally if that's what you're into you know whatever there's different outlets for that. But they got all types of great stuff.
Starting point is 01:43:48 A Romanian rucksack. I mean, this thing is banging. So if you would like to check out the unrivaled collection from Swiss Link, make sure you head over to SwissLink.com. And while you're there, use code. Why do I always forget their code? Use code mass at checkout. That's code M-A-S-S to save 15% on your next purchase at SwissLink.com.
Starting point is 01:44:15 Code mass, save you 15%. Thank you, SwissLink. Thanks, SwissLink. All right, Tommy, what else do we need to talk about this week? Is there anything? I feel like there was one. What else do we need to talk about this week? Is there anything? I feel like there was one. Oh, do I have a couple? Just a couple.
Starting point is 01:44:31 Facebook Marketplace Deals of the Week. I like the segment. And I got to get one out there. Someone had. Actually, there was a couple things. This goes back to Home Gym Con. Remember, there was a thing. Take me back.
Starting point is 01:44:46 I believe we were on the way there. Someone put a post on of a guy selling a set of like York dumbbells, and they were insanely cheap. Do you remember that? Something about that, yeah. I don't even remember because the deal, either the guy wrote the price setting correctly or he actually did not know what he had
Starting point is 01:45:02 because it was something like $70 for like a set of 50s or something he said no lowball offers i know what i've got i didn't really know what he had you're lowballing yourself man yeah there's that someone did post in the discord i forget the exact price i believe it was in sioux falls just the other day there was a set of power block dumbbells for 150 and that was actually a steal did that intrigue you at all that actually did for a second but i'm like if you i i just because it was such a deal i mean i could have them for a few months and probably so i don't know if i've ever seen power block for less than like 350 ever i wondered if you were going to consider that one i did i did briefly think about it and it was one of those things where a month or two ago i would would have been like, yes, that's, that's it. I'm buying those right there.
Starting point is 01:45:45 But I mean, I do have that need solved right now. So it's not super high on my priority list. And again, I'm the only one working out. So like having redundant options here doesn't do anything for me. So that's why I'm still just not in a huge hurry to do anything about that. But that is a smoking deal for power blog.
Starting point is 01:46:01 I've never seen, I don't think I've ever seen them for under 350 and maybe even 400 like they're always people are always charging a lot for those things they hold their value that did seem like a really good deal so there was that um there is one item though that i did find just tonight that i thought was pretty noteworthy tanner and that item was was a vibe plate the vibe plate 2440 this person wants 1250 for it and from what i can tell it is one of the vibrating plates you do stand on so this could be the missing piece at massonomics gym that you mean the total body vibrator that i can finally call that old lady back uh here uh old lady back uh here uh seven or eight years later we got your vibe plate lady it's here yeah i could finally call her back um yeah the full body vibrator those are probably cost like
Starting point is 01:46:57 five thousand dollars new or something well if they're selling this one used for 1250 bucks uh i like to think that. I'm assuming that knew that. Well, actually, that doesn't mean anything because actually I was thinking about this. This is something I was just thinking about the other day. I feel like you could have a game that's a real test of someone's character and intelligence and say, take this used item that you own and price it. Price it what you think it should sell for. And it'll tell you in a hurry how cheap that person is,
Starting point is 01:47:29 how much sentimental value they have attached to something, and how good they are at understanding the greater market. And how motivated they are to just get rid of it. And how much shit they're willing to put up with in this transaction. Yes, yes. It's funny, we kind of play that game at my house every day because my wife is always selling random things on Facebook Marketplace, and we don't play the game.
Starting point is 01:47:52 She's like, what do you think I should sell this for? And I'm always inclined to price just a bit higher than she is because she's always very motivated to, it's like the first person that will show up as quick as possible. Just come get this. No strings attached. Just hand me the cash and take this. Like that's worth like her pricing at 50% less.
Starting point is 01:48:15 Okay. If someone will just straight up come just like one message, pick it up in like an hour and go away with it. Like, so that's kind of her thought on it. And mine, I'm, I kind of feel that way a little bit too,
Starting point is 01:48:30 but I'm also, I like to pinch a little bit more out of it than she does. I'm like, I can put up with just a couple back and forth if I can increase the price by a little bit more too. So there's just different ways that people approach that. I think too. Yeah.
Starting point is 01:48:45 And there is, but I mean, the offenders, the offenders are the ones that are within $10 of retail. It's like, like I told you there was one. This was for sale in. I don't know if it was in the area, you know, somewhere. So it might have been into Minnesota or something. But they were selling like four rogue deep dish 45s. And I thought the price on that seemed high. I think it was three deep dish 45s. It was like retail. I went and looked on the rogue website. You would get a set of four. And I think it included the 25s for less than this person was selling the three. I'm like, right. This price makes no sense. Like it doesn't, there's nothing about this that makes any sense. Like you didn't even look at what these things
Starting point is 01:49:23 retail for, I guess. Right. Or you remembered wrong that's insane when i say it i'm talking about like like for the example this week we were selling this used deck spot deck box that we had for a couple years that uh we decided we didn't it didn't really serve the purpose we wanted to it maybe cost like 200 new it's still in good shape and she's like let's sell it for 40 and get rid of it and i'm like well maybe we should sell it for like $70. Yeah. And like ultimately we sell it for like $50 and just get it gone and like immediately. You know, it's like I'm not saying like, no, we should sell this used thing for $180.
Starting point is 01:49:57 It's like, you're getting a deal. The new one's $200. Yeah. It's like, yeah. You know, it's like, no, this is a used thing. You've shitted all over this one. It's like, it sucks, man. it's got sand in it yeah like your shit was all in there and i gotta like pick it up and like somehow get this thing yeah after it's been through three winters and right i mean like
Starting point is 01:50:14 there was well and we've talked about this like the number of times that there's bars and things and they're like ten dollars off of retail it's like dude no that's not how this works you don't sell it for ten dollars off of retail like no one's, dude, no, that's not how this works. You don't sell it for $10 off of retail. Like no one's interested. And if you are, you're also an idiot for supporting that person. Right. It's like an IQ test kind of. It's just how they do it.
Starting point is 01:50:35 Like how hard are you up for money? And you also don't understand how this works. That is where you price things like an idiot. Yes. Whenever we sell something on Facebook Facebook marketplace and around our house, that's called turning clunkers into cash. Cash for clunkers. Yeah.
Starting point is 01:50:53 That's what I'm always like. Oh, I see there's cash on the table. What clunkers did you turn into cash today? But for me, more than the cash, I like just get rid, just seeing something go out.
Starting point is 01:51:03 Oh, that's the value of it. Sweet. It's like, I actually got the money, and someone took this away for me. It's a win-win here. Yes. Yes. Yeah, Aberdeen is the perfect size town for doing that.
Starting point is 01:51:14 It is. It's so easy, because everyone kind of, it's so easy to know who someone is. There's a certain level of trust for the most part, right. Yes, it's so easy to vet who you're buying from. You basically either know them or you're one degree removed right yes right there's no way you don't have there's no way you don't have a friend in common on facebook if you're not friends with the but you know who everyone is and so you just don't like if you're buying a couch in sioux falls you're
Starting point is 01:51:38 like dude that couch who knows where that thing could have been and what has happened on that couch in aberdeen you know who you're buying the couch from and so you already you actually do yes and like you probably know the neighborhood and you probably when we moved our last house when we moved our last house we sold all when we moved from Aberdeen we sold almost all of our furniture because it was too big from a big house down to moving into a little townhome it's like we can't take this with us and that was like Leah both of them put them online and we sold them to people that we both know personally. They hit us up within like 30 minutes.
Starting point is 01:52:11 Like, I'll be there tomorrow. Yeah, because they know you. So they're like, okay, I feel like there's going to be, that was treated a certain way, at least within reason. I know that I'm not going to show up in this thing. It's not going to smell like smoke or be like totally destroyed. I've got to go into some weirdo's house to dig it out of their basement.
Starting point is 01:52:29 Also, people do have a bit of reputation, so it's not like, yeah, I just sold you the shittiest, most damaged thing ever. They'd be like, really, man? Is that? It's just stuff like that. Speaking of the Aberdeen reputation,
Starting point is 01:52:42 to make it podcast official, so last year, Tommy, you were nominated for the Aberdeen. What is the thing called? I forgot. Something said you're under 40. Is it four under 40? Is that what it is? Okay, that might be what it is.
Starting point is 01:52:55 I know it's like under 40. That's part of it. And was it last year that you were on that or something? It was either last year or two years ago. Well, it wouldn't have been last year. Maybe you wouldn't have been here at this point last year. Yeah, here actually I have the file on my computer here for it i can tell you a date 2022 so yeah two years ago yes so someone nominated me for it this year i'm not sure that
Starting point is 01:53:16 i'm going to go through i looked a little bit at the application stuff and i'm like can't do it i don't think uh so fortunately there's a lot of fluff questions in there isn't there right i mean when when i got my thing i thought maybe i could just have fun with it i mean you totally could even the answers you totally could not make a mockery of it but just be like play it loose got nothing to lose here right like throw a couple good one-liners that was i just can't stand i mean that's probably why I don't work in a office environment for a company is I just can't stand the dumb bullshit. I'm like,
Starting point is 01:53:49 really? Like, we're all going to pretend that we're just like cool with no one actually saying what they mean here. Like, and we're going to actually not even do this just today, but the rest of our lives, like,
Starting point is 01:53:59 like we all know that you're the dumb ass in the group and we're all just going to like pretend that like we're cordial. We're all just going to sit here and listen to this because that's like what we have to do. We know you're the dumb ass in the group and we're all just gonna like pretend that like we're cordial we're all just gonna sit here and listen to this because that's like what we have to do yeah we know you're the idiot we know you're the low performer we're all just gonna like tolerate it's like so annoying and we know you're fucking up man and we know like this whole gonna go through this giant time waste this whole objective we're on or whatever track like we know we're not hitting that deadline and we're also not no we're not gonna hit the extended deadline after that because we've missed the last, like just so much shit that
Starting point is 01:54:26 you just collectively agree to, to just go with because we're all, and I get it. That is how the world runs. That is a hundred percent how the world works. But, oh, I just struggle with that stuff because I just could just talk about it and pick it apart for an analysis for days on end. Because I mean, I live it. I mean, you do, you do. You work in a big company with a lot of people, right?
Starting point is 01:54:44 I've never worked in a company that big.'ve worked in smaller ones and I still it drives me nuts but so then I get questions like this that are like the why do you do how do you feel about this thing and I'm like I don't feel about that thing actually so thanks for asking that's right that is my right question so that's what I thought maybe the wrong guy like not be a dick about it but just like say that like if that's the thing how do you do this this and this i don't i run two businesses and have a family i have a i don't have enough time to even pursue one of my hobbies right now let alone at night like you know i barely get to go to sleep we were talking about this i don't mean
Starting point is 01:55:20 to knock because maybe there's people that have figured this out but when i hear people that talk about how busy they are with all this other stuff and they also volunteer and not other things, I'm like, no, you're not actually busy at your other stuff then. And if you are busy at it, it's because you're not contributing in a significant way. Like, right. I just, there's no way I guess maybe you get to a point where you have employees and your employees take care of it. But then again, you're not that busy because your employees do. You have a lot of risk on your hands, but you're not that busy because you have employees and your employees take care of it. But then again, you're not that busy because your employees do. You have a lot of risk on your hands, but you're not that busy because you have employees.
Starting point is 01:55:46 Yeah, you assume a lot of risk. You assume a lot of responsibility, but you're not that busy, really. Right, right, right. And I mean, everyone knows how it goes. Everyone's worked for a boss. We're like, yeah, you're not really here that much. Like you do, you get paid for a reason.
Starting point is 01:56:02 Like their reason isn't really because they're doing work. They just have a lot of responsibility. It's just making sure the wheels don't fall off the machine. And when I say making sure, it's like kind of making sure the people that make sure the wheels don't fall off the machine are there. Like that's how that works. We've all agreed.
Starting point is 01:56:18 But like that's, that's bosses though, right? Yes. That's very true in a lot of situations, isn't it? It's very true in a lot of situations, isn't it? It's very true. All right. This has been 424. We're almost at the two-hour mark. We talked about deals of the week.
Starting point is 01:56:36 Maybe next week we'll get a guest back on again. That'd be about that time. Maybe next week we'll find out if I'm top four under 40. I did look, though. My paperwork was dated May 27th. So, yeah, you're right in the timeline of when I would have been. Okay. Yeah.
Starting point is 01:56:53 Messing with that stuff. Can I copy your answers? I'll just send it to you. Just send you what I had. Okay. T-Wolves are only down four. I've been watching that's making me about half time so they are keeping it a game but i want to see them up i know it's like it is down yeah it's like it is down baloney yeah i think this is the whoever wins here is going the distance
Starting point is 01:57:21 that'd be i think of the of the rest that see the i think whoever wins wins this series is going the distance. That'd be... I think whoever wins this series is going to win the championship. It feels like this is the buzzsaw right now, doesn't it? Yeah, it is. Bad draw on the Timberwolves part, I feel like. But that's the whole... Like we said, that's the Minnesota sports fan, right? That's just the way it is. That is it for this episode.
Starting point is 01:57:52 We talked about our sponsors. Just thought maybe I'm forgetting anything. We're not forgetting anything, are we, Tommy? Looking through the old list here. We didn't leave Kevin at home for our trip, did we? No, no, Kevin is right here with us. Yeah. Whatever it is, it can wait until episode 425.
