Social media, website, everything.
Massanomics.
What's up, everyone? We are back for episode 468 of the Massanomics podcast, the lifting podcast
about nothing recorded live from the corners of the Dakotas.
I'm one of your hosts. My name is Tanner.
And my name is Tommy Tanner.
I think this we've been through so much the last several weeks.
I think we should start with just a little focus session here.
So if you'll allow me to guide this for a second, I'm gonna need you to just silence your mind.
Be quiet.
Maybe maybe close your eyes for a second.
Really relax and just get in the zone and then
get you in the right state of mind.
I've heard this rule. That is what's the name of that again?
The Natty Anthem.
The Natty Anthem. Oh my God, the Natty Anthem.
It just comes in and you're just ready to go to the same room.
I kind of, when I hear it once, I kind of just think I want to listen to this for 12 straight hours is what my immediate thought is
12 state hours for three straight days
Are we gonna talk about the natty anthem right away or I mean we can
Maybe we'll get to that when we get to that. That's fine. Yeah, that's just a teaser for everyone of them
Why the natty anthem holds a special place in our heart now.
Oh, it takes me back, the Natty Anthem.
You know what else takes me back?
What's that?

I just think it's something about and then the natty anthem hit me again, so I completely lost it.
It just took over.
Lost all I'm hearing. All I'm hearing again now is the Natty anthem.
Can you hit us with that one more time? I you know what you say that's all you hear. It is royalty free, right?
I never stopped hearing it. I don't know about that. That might be debatable, but.
Do you think?
Still good.
Yeah.
I might put it in the background, let it get a little further.
It is a six minute song.
I thought it was a short song because time just flew by so fast every time I listened
to it.
But turns out it is a six minute song, so it just makes a good time to keep recording.
All right, Thomas, should we talk about the song?
Yeah.
I think it's a six minute song.
I think it's a six minute song.
I think it's a six minute song.
I think it's a six minute song.
I think it's a six minute song.
I think it's a six minute song.
I think it's a six minute song.
I think it's a six minute song.
I think it's a six minute song.
I think it's a six minute song. I think it's a six minute song. I think it's a six minute song. I think it's a play. Wow, turns out it was a six minute song, so it just makes me think I'm too early.
Alright, Talishuby.com's in your car, you're in your room again.
You have a light behind you, Tosh.
Oh yeah, I don't think I see that. I don't know if people see that on Twitch though.
Oh, you might get a little glow over it.
Oh yeah, we'll see.
Tell you what.
I bought one of these
Goby lights.
Yup.
This one has the one that syncs to the music.
So if you turn the lights off down here,
it syncs to the music. And then my other light over here,
you put that one in disco mode.
And my kids are syncing to the music.
They're just trying to dance to the music. You're gonna have to get ones like that in the gym and then shuffle with the other guys.
I actually thought about it.
That might be happening soon.
It's pretty impressive.
The light is like this perfect continuous beam.
There's no dots or anything.
I always wondered what it's like to put a lift like that one.
It's all dark except for the light.
I'm so not sure I could handle a whole lot of that.
I'm not sure I could handle a whole lot of that.
I'm not sure I could handle a whole lot of that.
I'm not sure I could handle a whole lot of that.
I'm not sure I could handle a whole lot of that.
I'm not sure I could handle a whole lot of that.
I'm not sure I could handle a whole lot of that.
I'm not sure I could handle a whole lot of that.
I'm not sure I could handle a whole lot of that.
I'm not sure I could handle a whole lot of that.
I'm not sure I could handle a whole lot of that. I'm not sure I could handle a whole lot of that. I'm not sure I could handle a whole lot of that. I'm not sure I could handle a whole lot of that. I'm not sure I put up a lift like that one.
You know, like they have it's all dark except for the light. I'm not sure I could handle a whole lot of that.
That's what you're holding on a second.
What would it be like?
Yeah, it's definitely like...
Okay.
Yeah, I don't know about lifting in the dark though.
That's something about that.
There could maybe be the right time for it
You know, I would I'm more of a garage door open kind of guy if I had my preferences
It may be be a little disorienting like I think it could be a heavy squat. Yeah something like that
I think it could be very well. So that's why you just
Got a plate safe. Keep those lights on
Yeah, until you're really ready for it till you're really really ready. We are back guess who's back back again
We are back for episode 468. Ah, I'm gonna call it. This is approximately our nine-year anniversary
So what day did the first episode ever come out? Do we got the published date on that? No one will ever know that I
Was really hoping that you would have that I I only go by as is Vastonomics, Laura,
I go whatever is by multiples of 52.
And this would be nine times 52.
So I just don't think it's possible
that it's not the nine year anniversary.
Let's see, according to Squarespace,
the first episode was released on April 19th,
one month from today. Yep, but this is definitely the nine-year you add in some you add in some leap years and stuff in there and all the sudden
You know is that what happens is that what gets us off by a month?
Is that one day every couple years gets off by a month? I?
Don't know I'm not totally sure we've talked about this in depth before and I know people have actually is this off by a month. I don't know. I'm not totally sure. We've talked about this in depth before and I know people have actually.
Why is this off by so much? Yeah, I am not sure.
But I do know that this is nine times fifty two.
Well, fifty two weeks in the year.
Can't argue with that.
Maybe somehow just everyone lost track of time and we just lost a month
in there somewhere where they only want to notice.
With everything going on back in 2020.
And everyone's just been so busy lately. They're not keeping track.
Everyone has been staying pretty busy.
I've kind of noticed that this group. Uh huh.
We are back, though.
We're on a little a little trip, a little trippy poo.
We went on and by this time, everyone probably has at least seen some
of what we were up to.
I mean, if you haven't, what are you doing
with your life?
Yeah, where the heck were we?
We made the trip down south to winter away
in North Carolina like we always do.
Oh, wait a second though.
Dr. Hogan is right.
Some of the first, then the first first ones we released like three all at once
Yeah, you know I actually just had that that's what it was. Yeah, so here's the first one was April 19th
The second one was April 20th third on was April 24th. So yeah, those forests. Yeah, there's three and five days
That's why mm-hmm that would mess it up. So yeah, this is definitely still the nine-year anniversary
As far as time goes not as far as episodes go yes
Presumably it's the night. We are recording at the nine nine-year anniversary from when we first recorded
Because we probably recorded those a week apart each time. No we recorded the first two at once for sure. Oh we did okay
Yeah, yeah, I think you're right. Yeah.
Don't spoil my theory.
So I mean, yes, like I said, as far as 52's go, we are there.
As far as time goes, not quite.
Got to save that for.
Big Anthony turned 14 when the second episode released.
And now look at him.
Now he's a Hall of Fame member and a golden PP.
Just living his best life.
I bet he was 14.
He could have never imagined what it, you know,
who's the young man from the Arnold, the 10 year old?
I forget his name.
Was it Dylan or was it Clayton?
Clayton, Big Clayton.
Was Big Clayton alive when Mastanomics started?
10, first episode was 2016.
But when Mastic started he probably was cuz this is showing him was started in November of 2015
Yeah
It would be right around there, right? I'm guessing probably very very young
You have the youngest massonomics fan was barely born
when Massonomic started and now look at us You have the youngest massonomics fan was barely born when
Massonomic started and now look at us
Yeah
big things coming yeah big things coming soon, but I
Interrupted you where the heck were we again? I forgot. Oh, yeah, we were in North Carolina
Yeah, like we always do yeah, just
Just make our little way down there. You know it's no big deal
So we're gonna recap part of this episode.
At least we're going to talk about some of the events of that
that trip. But are you feeling thirsty over there at all?
I'm hella thirsty.
We got a real legitimate what's in the can segment this week. This was.
You'll really be doing good, Tommy, if you can tell me who this was courtesy of.
I was really hoping you knew. I can't remember.
It's not the guy that gave us no, we did meet not meet.
We met him before, obviously, but the guy that gave us protocol, he oh, but it wasn't him.
No, I don't think so.
Yeah, but the protocol guy was at the Arnold. There I forgot about that. I remember him. I know
what he looks like. This guy is the guy. No, this is from the
guy that gave us the Coors Light Twins. Oh, yeah, that's right.
Yeah, you're right. Is he from the northeast? He's from New
Jersey. Isn't he? Yeah. I don't think he's a supporting member,
which is just a travesty.
I know.
If you're listening to this, A, tell us what your name is,
and B, sign the Frig up to become a supporting member.
Yeah, we see him every year.
He's got the shaved head.
Pretty sure he's from Jersey.
Somewhere in the Northeast, for sure.
This is our call out, that you need to be a supporting member.
You're deep enough in this thing
There's just claim your title of the discord. Yeah. Yes
So what the heck is this one? Is it is it Bellevue? Is that how you say this? I don't know French or something
Yeah, and it's a blackberry flavored sparkling water. Here it is so everyone can see it
Okay, well
And you get this out of Aldi. This is an Aldi contain 0% juice
You know blackberry says he'll pay if you claim your spot big Gary will pay pay your first year dues. Oh, man
Mystery guy who we definitely have known his
name every year and forget every year. Yes, it just the price
keeps getting sweeter over here. I'm not a huge Blackberry guy,
but this is pretty damn good. But the fact that it's
Blackberry is not one of my preferred flavors. So I'm
probably three and a half on this one. Yep. I could quite literally could not have said it better myself.
Yep.
Yep, three and a half.
Oh yeah.
That's a tasty beverage.
That's a three and a half easily.
Good stuff.
Any notes on completing nine years of podcasting. Oh
I think we could make here's my always my favorite question. Do you think we could make it to 18?
Oh, I knew that was even a question. I don't know
There is no way
That sounds absolutely insane though. It's yeah, there is no way I don't think that that's possible
I don't know. I'm not positive that podcasts will continue to
Exist we just we've been replaced in nine years. That's what it is
It's through new no doing of our own. It's just we've been replaced with everything going on
The classic question. So if you're listening to this in the year
2034 did we make it?
Are we still recording the master?
Are we still paying for podcasts hosting?
Can you, anyone hear these anymore?
I guess technically they're on YouTube,
so you'd find them on there,
but if YouTube still exists.
But it's like you always said,
well, do we plan on quitting a year from now?
Not really.
Do we plan on quitting two years from now?
Probably not.
Three?
I mean, if we're doing two, my not really.
So like, where is where is that line?
Yeah. The only time we'll tell.
Well, classically, we're not doing anything big special for the nine years of podcast.
I think episode 500 is going to I think we'll do a big to do and for 500
Yeah, that's gonna be our I think that's gonna be a blowout episode episode 500
I say that I have literally no idea what we're gonna do
We've never even spoken of it, but I think for episode 500 we got a comment below on YouTube
What should we do for episode 500? Yeah, let us know what idea yeah
Let's hear your best and brightest ideas in the YouTube comments of what we should do for episode 500. Let us know what your best idea. Yeah, let's hear your best and brightest ideas
in the YouTube comments of what we should do
for episode 500.
Coming in 32 episodes, so just over half a year.
So let us know, we don't have that much time to plan.
If we gotta order cool stuff, we gotta get it going.
That will happen this year.
Wasn't for sure.
Maybe we record for 500 minutes.
500 straight
It'll do a like a like a raising money thing, but it'll just be raising money for us You know podcasting for 500 minutes for the Masonics fund, but it all just goes to us
What would that be like eight hours or something?
I don't know off to ask chat GPT the math on that one. It's too hard. Oh Anthony says eight hours and 20 minutes. Yep
GPT the math on that one. It's too hard. Oh Anthony says eight hours and 20 minutes. Yep
Well that might be too long maybe 500 seconds it'll be really really short
Everything really fast and get through every segment quick because we only have 500 seconds
Okay, so North Carolina we were at mr. Mufu's house again at gym home and
So we left on Friday morning and
What the heck were we there for? Oh my god, you know yet. Well, so we went for the ego lifting Olympics
This is the this is technically the first annual, right?
the first annual ego lifting Olympics, that's right. And before we even get there, we should just make a note
that out of all of the Mastanomics trips we've done,
which has been quite a few over the years,
we have never had more travel issues than this single trip.
Oh man.
There was, it actually got to the point,
I've never had this happen to me,
we got on an airplane and after an hour,
they just decided, yep, get off the airplane.
They were having some issues. It was at least an hour of, decided, yep, get off the airplane. They were having some issues.
It was at least an hour of,
and that airplane, no air.
Yeah, it got quite toasty towards the end.
No, you know those little things
that blow the air on your head?
Yeah, those weren't on.
And it was terribly.
It was Minneapolis in March,
but it also happened to be 70 something
in Minneapolis in March, which is a lot warmer than it can normally be and yeah the plane started to get quite warm towards the end of it
They kicked us off and I thought oh, okay
Well, we'll just get on the next plane here and after more waiting more delays more changes more changes like it just bouncing around
Gate to gate to gate things kept falling out. We thought we had one then
I guess you were saying the pilots timed out the pilots couldn't fly anymore
And eventually Delta just said
Our hands are tied. We're done with you
You're now flying American and I've never had that happen before either where where the airlines switched you actually
Yeah, the only reason I knew to do that is because people were saying after a certain number of hours of delays
They have if there is other airlines they have to transfer you over to them if there's other airlines available
So that's why I was like running to that
Zone because I could tell there's about ready to be a hundred and fifty people there was too
Yeah, and luckily we were third in line. Yeah, good thing Tanner's paying attention because I was talking to an old buddy
on the phone for a while,
and I'm getting periodic updates from Tanner
every couple of minutes,
and then eventually he's like,
we gotta go now.
Yeah, yes.
And by the time we got through that first desk line,
there was an enormous lineup behind us.
And I gotta tell you, the airport people,
I'm sure we've talked about this over the years the way they sit there and
Non responsively click a clock on the board and I'm like, it's all keyboard movements
Nothing there might as well throw their mouse in the garbage
It's just all keyboard movements and they just are sitting there and I'm like I want to know what's on the screen
I told you at one point in time, I swear they're just playing like,
mind sweeper on there or ski free or something like that.
Or doing some ass Jeeves typing test.
Because, I mean, that lady, first of all,
spoke no words, like she couldn't have possibly
transacted that without saying last.
No, and not because she didn't speak English,
she just didn't just talk to you.
No, yeah, like, yeah, she just didn't, just wouldn't talk to you.
No, yeah, like, yeah, she just would,
and even when it was like, okay,
she said you need to go to Concourse E or whatever it was,
and I'm like, is there any particular spot?
Yeah.
Just anywhere in the concourse?
And then she like clicky clack around for a while
and like not assuredly said, oh
E20. Yep. I'm like she just threw a number out to get it over with that's like just
Saying a number so you get out of there. That is exactly what's going on and
The people we were like second or third in line
The people that were very first in line to get transferred over to that other airline
and the people that were very first in line to get transferred over to that other airline.
You know, this was like probably close to an hour,
I don't know, even though.
It was a long process.
It was a long process.
Yeah, time stands still when you've been in the airport
for eight hours trying to get out of the airport.
And we walk all the way to the other concourse
and then it's all the same of us at this new desk
that we're all at the old desk
because we all just rushed over there
It's like our old friends that have all also been in the same
spots trying to get through and they go up and
The guy the the new United Airlines guy says yeah
Your ticket didn't get paid for by Delta. I can see that they put it all in but they didn't do the final step
So you have to walk all the way back to the other side of the airport, Minneapolis is a very large airport
you have to go back over there and
They need to fix it for you and they're like
What can't you just do it luckily for that guy?
He was talking to people that were our age and somewhat reasonable because the older people behind us
I think would have just murdered someone on the spot.
Let's just say they're a little less nice
to customer service once you hit a certain age.
Yes, yes.
And for whatever reason, we were next in line
and ours did work because I was fully prepared.
I'm like, oh my gosh, now we gotta do the same crap too.
And ours did go through, so we did get on that plane. Yep. That's when I said what goes around comes around
Which is funny because they were the nicest people they were gonna shit all over but I like to think of them as being bad people
That's why that was yeah
All in all I think we got we were sitting around in that airport for maybe like seven hours or eight hours
Yeah, it was something like that. We ended up leaving I think it was like five hours after when we were sitting around in that airport for maybe like seven hours or eight hours or. Yeah, it was something like that. We ended up leaving, I think it was like five hours
after when we were supposed to leave, right?
Yeah.
Yeah, sitting on that airplane was super annoying though.
Not that it was that hot
and not that it was smelly in there,
but there was something about the stuffiness of that plane.
We were just so amped up the whole time like we got places to go.
Here we go.
But we did eventually make it and it was and it being like 10 o'clock
when we landed instead of like four like we initially thought.
We thought we were missing out on all the good action of all the ex.
Everyone else got there early afternoons.
They were hanging out all day and it felt like we were late to the party.
But we got there. everyone hung around for another hour
Before we took off
But it was fun like we were we so we showed up and we got to actually meet everyone for the first time
Mikey maybe me we got to meet
Boogs we got to meet Joey Satmary we got to meet
Brian jujies film guy
My miss mark. Oh, we've met Mark before.
We've met Jujie before.
We've met, have you met, let's see,
have you met Joey before or was that just,
you've met Joey too.
Oh, yeah, that's right.
We did talk to him at the Arnold for like a second,
didn't we?
Yeah, a few years ago.
Yeah, I forgot about that, that's right.
But to see everyone together in one place is really funny.
And just to get the vibe from everyone,
because you never know, like going into something like this,
how is everyone gonna be?
And you quickly find out because we hang around Jujie's
for, I don't know, it was maybe an hour,
and then he's like, all right, we're going to the Airbnb.
And Jujie got an Airbnb for everyone to stay at.
He stayed at his house,
but he got one for all the rest of us. And we get to the Airbnb and juji got an Airbnb for everyone to stay at you know, he stayed at his house but he got one for all the rest of us and we get to this Airbnb and
It was just hilarious the group of people that were I mean it was like a college house and
We just get there and we we started our ritual of plopping down in the living room and just talking for a few hours every night
and
Getting to know everyone
and it was a good time.
Yeah, that part of the funnest part of the trips
was just every night sitting around in that living room
and the entire group would be there.
And I mean, we're up till like 1 a.m.
chit chatting every night.
We did, we stayed up until one o'clock every single night.
Everyone just sitting in a circle in the living room, some of us on the couches,
some of us just on dining room chairs.
Yeah, we just talked about.
Just Instagram, YouTube, social media,
lifting all all the other people in the all all the people in the space.
Yeah, people in the industry, all the dirty, dirty, dirty laundry that everyone's got.
Yeah, everyone's connections they've had over the years
and good and bad experiences.
I mean, that's like the funnest part is here
and everyone's inside story on their,
on their years in the industry.
Yeah. And it, it, it was super cool. It was a lot of fun the Airbnb itself was quite the
Quite the with the building it remind I guess what we what I said and somebody else said it
We've all said it. It's like just like a college
College house that has like four college dudes that all live there and that there's a party at like three nights a week every single week and
the only thing that this was missing is like
50 half drank
That's all it needed it had everything it had the paint over paint it had you know kind of the some of the hack together
You know is this the inside of the house the outside of the house when was this layer added?
I mean as far as sleeping goes it was actually as far as sleeping goes it was
Excellent in the way that every room had its own little mini split air conditioner thing
And our room had the ceiling fan, and you had the noise machine going on your phone
So people that are wondering why were we sleeping in the same bedroom?
It's because our bedroom had two beds in it and man we had it was like it was like the just the it was like a cave in there was awesome
As far as sleeping conditions go, I don't know if we've had much better conditions on the road than that to be honest
other than maybe the only downside of us like
the
Laundry yeah, everything had been washed in like the most heavily scented laundry detergent you
could ever imagine, which is not my preferred scent when doing laundry.
But that's what we had to deal with.
And if that was the worst, it's actually not too bad.
So everyone got a bed, but there was a couple rooms where there was more than one.
You and me had, our room had two beds and Joey and Mikey's room had two beds
Which is funny because they're both from you know, Pennsylvania
So they had a few minutes from each other kind of neighbors and actually they probably live closer to each other than we do
Honestly, yeah, they do. They do actually they do. Yeah, they live way close. They live
Just about as close to each other as we used to when we lived in the same town
to each other as we used to when we lived in the same town.
Someone said they imagine Boogs just randomly screams out into the night every hour.
So I had to remember.
Remember, none of it in the morning.
I don't know. He might have.
I will say the first day he set his alarm.
We all said we're going to be ready by 10 o'clock
and we woke up and we're all like fired up
Ready to go and it's 930 and boogs is now
There like maybe he's not in his room. Maybe he left already and then at 955
We heard his alarm going off and about 10 minutes later. He came popping out
Anyway, I figured someone would wake me up and we're at we're sitting there trying to it's like hey Joey
Why don't you go wake him up yeah it's like none of us know him that
well let's go bug him trying to talk each other into going and waking him up
but we were all brought there for the ego Olympics which you'll be able to see
all of this on Jujimufu's YouTube channel.
There's going to be, how many YouTube videos
is there gonna be?
At least four or five.
Four or five, yeah.
Four or five, yeah, so.
So there'll be some individual event videos
and then there'll be a final mashup video
of all of the events in one.
Yeah, so it'll come out sometime probably
after this podcast episode publishes, but probably not that long after,
maybe a week after that.
I would think within a week or so of you listening to this.
Yeah, and so we're gonna talk about it a little bit,
but it'll be much different.
The real experience will be watching those YouTube videos.
There's gonna be some fun stuff in there.
So was that Saturday then? Yeah, so we got this Saturday goal, and this is what's hilarious So we've done something with juji once now where we know like Tanner and I whenever we do trips
You know like California last trip we went on the first day. We landed. We shot five videos in one two
three different locations like we're going crazy when we show up somewhere.
And because we have to, like that's, like this is,
we just have to be as efficient as possible.
Jujie does have the luxury of,
this is kind of his life, his job,
so he can block out more time for it
than what we're traditionally used to.
So when he says, yeah, we have two straight days to film,
and we don't show up till 10, we just know,
you have the entire day to do it.
It's not like you got to leave to go do anything.
No one's got a different job or anything.
We are here for this.
And so we got there probably like 10, 15, 10, 30,
and like to jump ahead a little bit.
I think the first day we were there till 11 o'clock at night.
So we were there for 13 hours, I believe think the first day we're there till 11 o'clock at night, right? So we're there for, uh, 13 hours, I believe the first day.
Yeah. And yeah, we started with the first event was the freestyle deadlift,
which was, and we won't get too in depth on any of these because it is the video,
but it was just come up with the coolest deadlift you can.
And Jujie's dad will judge it on a scoring system and that will determine where
you rank and
It was it wasn't like it was any set powerlifting order or anything
It was just hey go warm up do whatever you want And when it's your turn just say and the crowd and the camera will come over and they'll help you up
Basically what happened is the six grown men all went to a different corner of the gym and started like building their
What their did lift was gonna be? to a different corner of the gym and started like building their, uh, what their deadlift
was going to be. And also I would say going into it, there'd been some discussion, like
we were kind of sort of be the announcers of the ego Olympics. And that idea sort of
just got shit canned in the first minutes of starting basically. And it's like, no,
you guys are just in it also
So we didn't know we didn't know a single of we didn't know really anything going into this other than juju was like Yeah, it's gonna be two days. I have everything planned
I want you guys to be a part of this you can do some lifts if you want
but I want you to be the announcers and
We quickly figured out like I don't know. I don't think we need to announce anything
It just wasn't gonna be the flow
Or the vibe I feel like it didn't fit the format and then Tanner the first thing with the with the freestyle deadlift
You're like, oh, I think we should do something like we can do something together
And you know we plan like that can be our secret sauce. Everyone else is doing their own thing
We'll do like the massonomics. Yeah, and so we kind of lead into that all weekend. It's like, oh, OK, Tanner doesn't have the best leg.
I'm not as strong as some of these other guys, but together we can be a real
competitor. And so we definitely use that to our advantage like all weekend.
But we did every single event.
We didn't sit anything out.
We gave, you know, we gave everything a real try.
Some things we did pretty well at, some things not so well at.
But yeah, I did not plan.
I did not plan on that at all going into it,
thinking that we would be an actual part
of the competitor list.
And when the whole thing was done
and the awards were tallied,
I mean, we were on the score sheet,
just like anyone else. We were right there
in the thick of it, yeah.
Yeah.
I was, I did have to be pretty cautious about my knee,
but it also has definitely put my knee to the biggest test
that it's been put to in the recovery, just like.
Well, was it big David in the comments
on one of the videos wrote, like you posted
one of the crazy montage videos and it was,
I think it was like Tanner's doctor,
like be good to your knee this weekend.
Yeah, don't do anything crazy with your knee this weekend.
It's like, Tanner.
To be fair though, like you were very cautious
of the things we were doing.
You know, you weren't doing anything.
For the most part, cause you can deadlift pretty hard.
It's kind of a, it's kind of a.
Oh, no one else coming back from ACL surgeries
doing anything like this.
But you have been very active in the way that you know
sort of where your limits are.
Like you weren't out there squatting
and doing any crazy like running or
anything. Some of it, if you would look at it, you'd be like, okay, that still
looks a little crazy, but yeah, like the way we did it and stuff, it really
wasn't, I don't know. You'll see, I guess like, um, and I did have, I did kind of
have to sit out just one little part for the most part
I just like got out which some of it
You know, I'm not saying we have asked it
But we just had to think of different ways to do different things a couple of those things
I'm like God
I wish I would have been a hundred percent because I really want to like there's a few things you could have done a really
Well at if you were you know, yeah overall what I'd say is surprising. Oh
with fewer, you know. Yeah, overall, what I'd say is surprising,
surprising to me a little bit
how well we could sort of keep up on things.
Oh, there was-
It wasn't like-
Well, we talked about the end.
It wasn't like the B-Squad over here.
No, no, like, I mean, and for me specifically,
where I could, you know, like what killed you
is there was one event you just couldn't even do.
But there was a couple events where,
like a time event where I was within like a couple tenth couple events where, like a time event where I was within like
a couple tenths of someone and another time event
where I was less than a second behind someone.
And it's like, oh, just if those things go
just barely different, all of a sudden,
like that even jumped me ahead in the standings.
Actually, the one timed event, the race part of it,
you were like a second from the first place because everyone actually,
you know, the top. Yeah, it was, it was pretty tight. Yeah. I was, I was technically, yeah.
I mean, I think I got like fourth in it, but the difference between first and fourth was
about a second, maybe a second and a half. So it was really, really tight there. But
uh, that's, I would say a point to Jujie's credit. He did such a good job coming up because there was six events six ish
I don't know some of its gets kind of confusing of what actually how it's gonna shake out. Yeah
Yeah, there's maybe six of shit events and it was a really good job like the event creation that like I
Don't know everyone here can be competitive in a way, you know, there's gonna be definitive
Right like it did at the end of the day did help to be really strong
But there was also some moving events and there were some events that it wasn't about pure strength
It was about style. It's like creativity events. I'm like well we can come up with some stuff. So
You know that worked to our advantage at time
And there was a grip event too and like we've seen firsthand again with grip just because you're the strongest doesn't mean you're gonna win that's actually wild like it's
almost impossible to predict that I was maybe like most nervous for the grip the
grip of the grip event we did a Hercules hold I'll just say that it was really
cool and neither was like one of us had done one before no and I felt like
everyone was pretty like everyone was like that's actually the fun thing about
this thing.
And I talked about it with Joey and Boogs and everyone.
You know, it's all kind of a silly competition.
It's all just fun.
That being said, when it comes down to it,
everyone there wants to do well at every single thing.
You can tell, nobody's like phoning it in.
Everyone wants to do well.
And especially no one wants to beat the other person still.
Well, yeah, everyone wants to do well,
but everyone really does not want to do poorly like, you know, everyone there's competitive
That's that's like yeah
A lot of the guys want to win but everyone like really does not want to do bad is probably the bigger
So all of a sudden it's like the end of the day
The first day where we did that Hercules hold and I was just thinking like my mind like, okay
Just a Hercules hold like oh what a nice way to wind down the day.
And all of a sudden I'm like, it's getting closer and we're kind of like warming up a
little bit.
And I'm like, God, this might be the most nervous I've been for anything all day.
And I'm like looking around and I'm seeing how intense everyone is.
I'm like, Oh no, everyone's feeling this way right now.
People were like getting to the point.
No one was talking.
Not because like they're having a bad time, but because people were getting like so in
the zone, you know, people are pacing, they got a bad time, but because people were getting so in the zone.
People were pacing, they got their headphones on,
they're taking it really seriously.
Yeah.
Yeah, that was exactly the way that that went.
Also, what was really funny, so,
I mean, both of the main days,
what happens is we're there doing that
for actually 12 hours. I mean both of the main days what happens is we're there doing that for
Actually like 12 hours like we're just in the gym for 12 to 13 hours and
What was hilarious to me the first day we did the same thing the second day, but I already I had expected it
At this point you figured out how it works. Yeah, but the first day, you know once the cameras were off
Okay, we'd been recording for hours and hours and hours. Yeah.
Then once the cameras were off,
Which was, we were done with the first day,
probably six-ish o'clock.
It was still daylight.
Yeah, it was around six.
So yeah, we'd been going for seven, eight hours.
And then I don't even know who starts doing what first,
but someone just for example
Busts out the axle bar and starts deadlifting with it and then within minutes
Every one of us is dead lifting and I don't know how that happened like when you asked me what happened
I'm like, I don't know all of a sudden the axle bar had plates on it
And then you see someone doing it's like well, I got to give it a rip like, you know
Everyone's doing double overhand to see how high you can double overhand. It's like well, this isn't that
I mean your grips gonna give out before you know, you're right your muscles ever will so it's like well
Yeah, let's give this a pull this pull and all of a sudden
Yep
We're doing double overhand grip contest on the axle and it was so fun because everyone's around getting all hyped on it
You know and the cameras there was no
Like the cameras were for sure away at this point, like no one was even, you know,
they weren't doing this to be on camera.
It was just like guys having competition with each other.
And so that was really fun.
And like that gets put away and all of a sudden
some guys go to eat.
And then pretty soon it's like,
well we were sort of doing grip stuff
and I don't even know how it happens.
All of a sudden someone's flipping plates.
Like I know we were standing there,
but I don't know who flipped the first one
because I'd never flipped a plate before.
Well, I think I might've instigated that one
because I can't remember if it was,
I was over there with Joey or Mikey or Mark or who it was,
but I asked one of them, I'm like,
because there was just that,
there was a cart full of bumpers.
I don't know what that cart was for for sure, but.
I'm like, hey.
It's just kind of there.
I was like, oh, you ever flip, do any of these plates? I think I asked Mikey, I was like, oh you ever flipped do any of these play?
I think I asked Mikey I was like, oh you ever flip any plates and he's like I flip a plate or two and I'm like
I flipped flip plates before the one maybe we should give a shot and then all of a sudden almost everyone is over there flipping plates
we were and we started at the tens and then you're on the yeah the 25s and then the 35s and
45 it took me it took me a few tries got the 45, right?
Yeah, it took me a few tries to get the 35 and so you guys as a guy that's never flipped plates before
These were like the smooth urethane bumpers. There was no lip or anything to them
So and they were you know, they're tough. They were not the crumb rubber that has a little more texture
It was smooth
And I think the 35 took me like three or four tries just, you know, to time the flip up
and then catching it wasn't too bad.
And then I thought, oh, the 45, there's no way
this is happening.
Like the first one was a total dud.
The second one flipped it up high and just boom,
it was locked in and I was so psyched.
Like I thought there was no way I was gonna catch that 45.
That was one of the more excited things I got
for all weekend was catching that 45. That's like when Joey got the 55, he was stoked about that.
Oh yeah.
And everyone was all hyped on it too.
We were all screaming and yelling.
And after that, of course, we get out the dynamometer.
So that comes out, so then we're testing grips there again.
And then all of a sudden, yeah, because Boogs I think was maybe eating her in the kitchen and he sees that comes out
Then he has to go
Get really serious about it. Yeah, he starts screaming while he's uh, ah
Goes from the zero to a hundred like so fast on it
Yeah, I mean and then talk about the eating.
It was funny too, because it was just,
there was just a buffet line of food.
I mean, he probably got,
do you think he got 25 pounds of brisket?
Probably something.
I mean, it was just trays and trays of pre-cut brisket.
And then he had, I think like three enormous catering size
trays of cornbread. Yes.
And it was just all weekend there was just brisket and cornbread out and you're just
constantly...
And some rice.
And rice and hamburger and salmon, you know, if you want any of that.
But the brisket and the cornbread was just getting pounded all weekend.
That and he probably got, I don't know, a few hundred cookies from like Costco or something.
So just all these trays of cookies.
I've never ate so many cookies in a weekend in my life.
The other thing that was flowing all weekend was the coffee.
The caffeine.
Copious amounts of caffeine.
In the morning it was just like,
just like, yep, drink that, drink that.
Yep, I'll get another pot going right away.
Like the second a pot's going,
like everyone's just chugging it.
You know, like we can't, like you showed up.
There was no expectation to do anything
until people's caffeine levels were in check.
Well, you and I had talked about it,
even before the first day, we were both like,
yeah, I'm gonna be taking more caffeine than normal
because there's a certain level of energy
with that group of people.
And just expectation of that stuff.
I'm not gonna be just the one sitting around,
I'm not gonna be like,
you gotta match the vibe.
Like you're not gonna go to a college party
and be like, oh no, I'm just gonna stay sober
and watch what happens here, you know? It's the same thing. You're not gonna go into party and be like, oh no I'm just gonna stay sober and watch what happens here, you know
You're not gonna go into this be like I won't do any caffeine. I'll just watch you guys get all hyped up
No, yeah, it's but that was first thing in the morning the way juju's like I got the coffee right here
Who needs it? Who needs it? Like I'll see you. Yeah, I'm putting another one on like he's treating like it's this really serious job
And the second it's done
It's more coffee more coffee and it's just pouring and people are drinking it non-stop and some guys are already hitting
You know, then he has the whole race closer to events the rain fridge and then the psychopharma packet workout
Yeah, sure got was always flowing too. So there was there was no shortage of caffeine going around
Sunday was kind of similar as Saturday then too, right?
I mean, we kind of did the, I mean, just different,
all different events.
Yeah, I mean, if we-
And then Juju had some surprises for us along the way,
which I don't want, you know, some of that
you'll just see in the video.
Yeah, you just gotta watch the video.
There was legitimate surprises where there was like
unveilings where we're all like behind a door
waiting to see what, like we don't even know
what we're doing next.
And it's like something comes rolling up and we're like like behind a door waiting to see what, like we don't even know what we're doing next and it's like something comes rolling up
and we're like whoa.
Right, that surprises us with some random like surprises,
or like with prizes and stuff like that.
I mean there was no shortage of surprises
and things that he had put some serious planning
and thought into and also spent some serious money on.
Yeah, I mean I think he told us
this is one of the most expensive videos he's ever made in his entire YouTube history
Believe I should should we say the present that we all got or one of the you know the anyone can say that I
Think people probably gathered that are we ever everyone got a power pole
Yeah, so at Chuck mogul after the power pole race
He did say okay stay up here guys cuz we were more up by his like barn
Shop thing and he went down the hill and a few minutes later
He comes back with these wagons pulling just power poles for everyone
Which was hilarious. You didn't expect to see a power pole
You know making its way and then so everyone's putting the power pole on and like sword fight
you know jousting each other with power poles. And we did the team breakdown, everyone bring it in,
touched our power poles in the middle.
Yeah.
So our power, you know, we were,
Mark Rosenberg, Deadliest Lift,
broke down his power pole and put it on his check bag.
Well, he was also checking a bag too though.
Yeah, he put it in his check bag.
We don't check bags because we are not psychos. We don't check bags on flights. So trust no one
Yeah, so we Mikey maybe me as a he mule
Muled our power poles to Pennsylvania and they're now waiting in Pennsylvania for their next ride
We think we know just the kind of mole candidate
that might be able to get those power poles picked up for us.
So deliver them to Western Northeast South Dakota.
So they'll be waiting for us someday.
Yes, they will.
Trying to think of what else.
The first day, if there was anything else
that just stood out to me it was that was so the
first art shouldn't say the first day Saturday after we got done got all back
to the hotel or the Airbnb that was the one I'm like alright do we go to bed
what's gonna go on here and it was the same thing we saw sat in the living room
I you know we were back by probably 11 and we had a good two and a half three
hours of talking we had to do and the whole group every time you know there was no except no one was like no one was like yep
I'm going to bed early like no tell nobody
So fun nobody is like well, and it was nobody's like gonna be willing to miss a second of it
No, we were laughing about it. We're dying the next day cuz Mikey so Mikey Joey both droves from Pennsylvania
So we when we drive back to Jujie's house from the Airbnb we because Mikey, so Mikey and Joey both drove from Pennsylvania. So we, when we drive back to Judy's house from the Airbnb, we hopped in with Mikey
and we were laughing about how funny it was, how, how most people, that
conversation would just be the most annoying, boring cause we went in depth
talking about Instagram and like YouTube and YouTube and things like, and it's
like, Oh, these grown men talking about their social media profiles and just
going on and on and on.
And like, we're all loving it and like nerding out on it.
And there were so many things that most people would be like, God, please, please make it
stop.
We did a lot of that.
And we asked Boogs a lot about the behind the scenes of wrestling, which was hilarious.
It was pretty, I mean, it was pretty, I mean, I'll be honest, it was really cool.
It was really interesting.
There's a lot of people that would have really enjoyed that.
Yes, and some run-ins he's had with some show business
and auditions and things over the years.
So it was really interesting to hear that.
And I loved the one, it was really funny talking to him.
First of all, I'm saying multiple times,
like, God, I just, I feel so bad for my neighbors.
I just yell so much.
It's like, I'm just like a maniac.
Like, you know, it's funny how, like how aware he is.
Like, God, I'm just a maniac,
just screaming and yelling and blasting my music.
And my neighbors just gotta put up with it.
So it's funny hearing that.
But then I really liked,
so we started asking about WWE and I go like,
oh man, what is it like though, to just go out in a stadium just full of people like,
that are cheering for, he's like, dude, it sucks, it's so stressful.
It's like, he's like, it's not even like you're playing a sport,
where you're going out and people are cheering for you.
Because you're just worried about what you gotta do the whole time.
You know what's supposed to happen, you gotta stick to the plan,
you can't mess it up.
And then on top of it
I got to play a freaking guitar before I can go on duty things like a lot of people performing a concert
It's like they just go out and got to get the crowd hyped up
I got it like like play a guitar and be focused and not mess it up and sound like an idiot and
Just yeah, it was really funny hearing all of his insights on his experiences there.
Yeah, it was so good.
And I just kind of say,
everyone in that group was really cool.
Oh yeah.
You could get around,
I mean, even in our conversations,
other people were talking about, you know,
some people that you might run into
that do the similar kind of stuff.
We run into a lot of people that,
I mean, yeah, they're great for at the Arnold or for short bursts.
But I'm like, I don't know if I'd want to spend
three straight days with you.
And that's not a knock to anyone.
There's a lot of people, like honestly,
most people I don't really want to spend
three straight days with.
But oh man, this group, I feel like we could have spent
a week together and it would have been fine.
Yeah, I gotta say, well, here's some takeaways.
Boogs is huge, everyone knows that already.
He's just a monster of a man.
He is, he is.
But Joey is like just as, I don't know if people know that,
but Joey Zatmary is like just as, I mean, he's enormous.
We talk, yeah, we talked about it several times.
Joey is jacked and huge too.
His legs are, his legs are, I mean, his entire body's huge,
but his legs are also just fricking insane.
Yes, and Mark Deadliest Lift is 6'5",
for anyone that doesn't know.
So he is like a tower.
I mean, actually all the, like,
Boogs and Joey are all both like six, too.
So they're both need not small in stature, but Mark's frame at like six, five.
He has such a unique build to him.
And the last thing I'd say is Mikey is an athletic freak.
The stuff that Mikey can do like just.
Routine things to him that are routine that I'm like, how are you doing that?
And I'm not talking about, yes, the skateboard stuff,
of course, like what you see on the post,
but like more so just the random athletic shit
I would see him do.
I'm like, what are you doing?
The way he can jump and move and I mean,
he jumped over that foam block that Jujie had that was like,
I don't I don't even know.
That thing was damn near to my chin.
And he just jumps on it and over it like it's nothing.
The number of times he fell, you're like, Joey,
our Mikey has fallen more this weekend than I have in like my entire adult life.
And he just always rolls out of it and is fine.
I don't get how how he can do that.
I also saw him at one point just randomly hop
on the trampoline and he had to have been doing
like 10 foot high in the air backflip.
This was like just like within seconds.
After we'd done all the events,
all the events were done and all of a sudden,
yeah, he's hopping on the trampoline.
And at my first time I was like, damn,
he's jumping really high in that trampoline
and then whoop, backflip, backflip, back I mean he like he was like 10 or 12 feet in the air. Uh-huh. Yeah, he was way up there
He I mean he probably is one of the only people in the world that has the combination of skills that he does on top of
You cannot forget how strong Mikey actually is. He's so insanely strong
We were for one of the events warming up and he was hitting the trap bar deadlift and he was moving it very easily and I asked him what his
biggest trap bar deadlift was and I think he said 800 pounds didn't he?
Something yeah might have been even more than and that's I don't know what does
he weigh 180 190 probably something like that yeah like I don't care if trap bar
whatever 800 pounds of anything yeah that's wild and for him is just like yeah
That's what I think he said. He did a
What's the hack deadlift? Didn't he say his hack deadlift was like in the high sevens? Yeah, I know it's more than his like
that's
marks the same way whereas
Certain variations that some people like oh, that's way harder. He actually does more on that than other more common variations
Yeah, so yeah, Mikey is I mean everyone there was a freak that it was
they absolutely are
a different level but
Even saying oh, yeah, just talking about everyone's build hookery
Anything else about the the
Yeah.
Anything else about the filming and the participate?
I would say what was funny about the second day. So the second day, I think maybe we were all
a little more loose because we kind of knew what to expect.
And I think we knew exactly what the events were
for the second day.
There was some mystery once in the first set we didn't know.
And also we knew going to the second day like,
well, we're just doing everything now.
You know, there was no, like we know we're full competitors.
There's no mystery what we're doing.
Oh, we did do kind of a cool mock interview thing.
And I'm excited to see.
Oh yeah, where everyone got an interview.
I'm excited to see what those turn out
because there were some very funny answers
where the camera guy would ask questions for the interview
and then all of a sudden we were all standing
in the background, he's like questions?
And like we were just firing off questions like sometimes just you know
Trying to get a just kind of feeding into people. Yeah. Yeah, so that part was really fun
Boogs was of course very funny on that but Mikey
Like the way he handled it like had me laughing really hard. Oh, yeah, I'm trying not to mess up the camera
You know so you're kind of like trying to laugh quietly
because it's getting recorded too,
but he has a way that he's like sneaky,
very, very funny at that stuff too.
Definitely.
Boogs, I don't think it's a spoiler in a lot,
but there was some point someone asked like
what animal he would fight.
And he said a giraffe because it's like
the ultimate pencil neck.
And I'm like, dude, that is so funny.
Yes, of course the giraffe is a pencil neck.
We were kind of all weekend long,
whenever I could get the opportunity,
I was kind of trying to feed into the horse cock.
Horse cocking, pencil neck, science based lifter,
length of partial.
Yeah, I kept poking it like.
Cause it would just get him going too.
Like, oh, I bet that's what Mr. Smith had planned when he invented the Smith machine, you know, just stuff like that stuff
Yeah
And he was loving it
The
Was gonna say about the second day, you know
We kind of knew what to expect we do the events the day gets done and people were we were all pretty smoked by the end
Of that, you know, he was tired. But we go back down in the gym,
and again, it was probably seven o'clock.
We're kind of all chilling, hanging out.
And all of a sudden, I don't know,
I think Boog's like we look,
and he's in front of the mirrors doing an arm day.
And it's like, well, one guy can't do an arm day.
All of a sudden, everyone's doing arms,
like chasing that pump.
And it's hard to get that pump after two days
of everything we just been through. But it went went into this about an hour long arm session and that turned into
You know all the accessories and hitting Jujutsu machines and pretty soon
You guys have the band bell bar out or the earthquake bar overhead press
Yes, you guys your booze worked up for everyone on that. Oh
And people are rolling Jujutsu on the yeah, and then you know Jujutsu's mat. I'll listen. Yep. People are rolling jujitsu and everyone's doing the stretching session. And it was just again, the thing of you give enough guys enough time in a gym and they'll just find more things to keep them busy.
Big Keith asked if Jujutsu competed also. No, he was in on everything. He was in on everything too, so.
He did it all.
I'm excited for the videos to come out
because we lived it of course,
but there's a million different ways
you could edit those videos, so.
Yeah, so yeah, and a lot of times
I kind of forget about the cameras even existing.
Oh, tons of times, tons of times you do.
I mean, we didn't really talk about
our reverse grip bench tsunami bar.
Reverse, that was fun. That was wild
To expect there but again if I had to say
We both did pretty damn good at that one
You performed really well on that like it actually as I was watching you
In some of the lighter ones. I'm like God
He's making it look easier than like you were making it look easier than almost everyone else
I would say this and as dumb as this sounds, reverse grip benching the tsunami bar up to 308 pounds easier than a straight bar.
Go over. I'll say under 300 pounds.
Me and the then the tsunami bar, I felt like I could just wrap out anything all day like it.
Yeah, it doesn't matter what the number is, just I'll hop up there.
If it's under 300 pounds, I'll just do it in a second.
It was so easy.
Even 308 felt pretty easy.
Made a pretty big jump after that
and it got really hard, really fast.
But again, we're talking about comparing
my all time bench PR to a reverse grip tsunami bar bench,
which is pretty dumb when I think about it.
From that answer.
I mean, your last attempt was close to that.
Or I mean, it was actually the same as your third attempt
in your last powerlifting meet.
Yeah, like all time bench PR.
Or the second attempt.
Yeah, yeah.
Which is really dumb.
I mean, on any other day,
be like, this is the craziest thing ever.
And at the time, it was like, well,
I mean, I'll probably hit this, right?
It didn't seem out of place at all
just because of what everyone else is. your perception for how weights even feel just disappear
Like you you're so out of your element on everything. You know, so weird
I I can't even I mean it might have been like
270 pounds or something I went to do one and I got like locked you were stuck at the top spot and a
couple people kind of laughed about it because I wasn't like struggling or anything like that I mean I was just holding it like you were like
two inches from lockout and it was frozen and I was watching I was so
confused I think I might have went right before you and as far as I'm concerned
I could have like I could have done a hundred of them it was the yeah a bench
has ever moved in my life and I I just got like, I'm like,
I don't know if something's wrong with my arms.
It was because I was like,
what it was is I was like, too narrow,
and then I went way too high on my chest.
And I got in this spot where I'm like, it's not heavy,
but I also can't like move it up
without like it falling out of my hands or something.
So I'm just like, uh.
But then after seeing the way some other people are doing it,
I switched up a little bit.
And then I was like, oh, OK, this, like I was moving up in weight
and it was getting easier because of it was giving me flashbacks
to when we did Slingshot Bench at Jen Thompson's where I was
like, exactly what I thought.
I'm like, oh, these weird bench variations are really screwing me up.
Yeah, like Tanner's not doing something right here because I am
like a repping out this weight
I'm not gonna say no problem
But I'm repping it out and Tanner looks like he might as well just be benching rod and he has a sledge on
Yeah that I never caught up on the slingshot thing when we were doing this one at least like right is you came out like
Yeah, you actually got better as the day went on that one. Yes. Yes, but when we did the slingshot, what was it slingshot?
Just slingshot bench, I think is all we just slingshot or was it?
Oh, I think I've been to a two board, actually, or so.
Yeah, a slingshot board. And I could not.
I mean, it felt like 100 percent of the weight was in my hands.
Well, it looked like it to watching you.
Yeah, yeah. But this this was different.
But then after a while, I'm like, oh, thank God I can do it.
Otherwise, I was going to be like the first one out on that, you know, yeah
We did shoot a couple videos of our own then too that'll be showing up on the massonomics YouTube and there's a
Cameos from the whole gang in those videos. We did a couple of equipment equipment review videos
With some help of
help with the guys there so I think those will be pretty fun yeah we had some
we phoned phone some friends to get the expert opinion on that I just kind of
scrubbed through them quickly here they were they're pretty good watching them
back trying to think well last week we had a Nick Cambion oh yeah we talked
about the tsunami bar you know and, and then of course, all
weekend we're using the tsunami bar.
And everyone wants to know when.
Massonomics gym is getting a tsunami bar and it's not officially yet, but I
think that we are going to get a tsunami bar.
At this point, you cannot get one though.
It's just, I kind of feel like we're pot committed to the tsunami bar.
I, I damn near felt like I had to order one after
this weekend. But it's just it was cool. And you never say
never but personalized with his name on it. And it's pretty
sweet. Yeah, I mean, it's still a 700 bar, $700 bar. But I do
think the move is probably to get the heaviest one. Oh, that
way you can really load it up. You know? There's no way. I mean, it has to be that one.
I think so.
And, yeah, I was actually, it was a fun bar though.
It's wild.
And the bar was used a ton over the weekend
between deadlifts and benching and just everything else.
That bar got some miles on it.
Yeah, I also like, post a picture of the way we had the plates loaded on the tsunami bar for the bench
It is just like a block of plates
Yeah, yeah each side had like 10
10 10 15 25
Yeah, the bumpers on it. So it just looked like this enormous
It looks like when people draw like clip art pictures of bars and barbells
That's what it looks like the whole thing's bending like crazy, and it's just a solid block of weights
Dr.. Hogan asked if there's a cheaper blue blue version from another company
Well, I'm not sure but tsunami itself does there are six versions of the bar
We were on the max which is the heaviest version the most expensive. There's also the
Sport and the speed I think yeah, and there's all all those numbered ones that are a lot smaller, too.
Those are way smaller. But after this weekend, I'd have a hard time
saying you'd ever need to get one or like you should get one.
That's not the heaviest one.
Yeah, that's what I would think, too.
Oh, it was it was cool. I.
It's fun that we're in that we're in that group.
Oh, yeah, like there's a lot.
I think there's probably countless number of people that would watch that and are like that would be so fun, dude
and I'm I'm thankful that we were able to be
Being on that and that a part of the group. It was just it was a cool time. Mm-hmm
And I I think I don't think I'm speaking out of turn
I says I think everyone in that group would be like, oh I would do that with those guys again like I felt like everyone had a great time
Yes, I think so too a
Final night after it was all done. We we kind of said we said our goodbyes to Jujie because we wouldn't be seeing him again
Went back to the Airbnb and did one more to 130 one more night
I stayed up till about 130 in the morning and people don't realize this
we all said this I
Never really sleep that good at massonomics trips because you're just thinking about so much massonomic stuff
There's so much like either trips on the line and itineraries or with the Arnold just money and shirt
I mean, there's so much on the line
We always talk we never sleep that good cuz it's just just like, nope, woke up at four in the morning
it was like, it's go time, like I just can't turn it off.
And every one of these times people said like,
oh, I just can't sleep at night,
like you can't have a day like that
where it's all day long, like you would think,
oh, you had the craziest day, you should sleep great,
but your mind is just so stimulated
at the craziest level all day that at bedtime
You're just like playing it all back like you can't stop thinking about the whole day
You can't stop thinking about the Natty anthem going non-stop in your head because you've heard it for 13 straight hours
We never explained it the Natty was playing in the gym
It was when you got to the gym was on
the entire weekend on repeat. It was when you got to the gym it was on.
It never quit at any moment of the day.
When you left the gym it was still on.
Like the only time it quit was when all the lights went
and the doors closed for the gym.
That was the only time the daddy anthem actually went.
But it was just on repeat all day long.
I mean it wasn't like loud Jerry.
It was in the background for just a little sound.
But it was on the entire weekend.
I really liked one time, first I thought he was joking, I don't think he was though, oh shit, I missed it. And then he just waited around until it came back on again.
And then he's like, oh shit, I missed it.
And he's just getting like the jokes about, oh, help them play the song again.
And then like, he'd be in the car and do, do, do, do, do, do.
People are just always whistling and humming it to themselves.
It's funny. Juju did throw one heck of a, whatever the heck that was, but he was over there.
I said, I told you at one point, I go, God, I can see how you're like unlimited money,
or I shouldn't say unlimited, a lot of money.
It's like, yeah, building like a shop, even if it's 2000 square feet, that just has a
bunch of lifting shit in it.
And it's just like, yeah, once a month I'm putting out three tables worth of food.
Everyone show up at 10 a.m. and we'll stay here until no one can take it anymore.
I'm like, it's just a great time.
You know, you're not bothered with TV.
You're not hardly bothered with phones, nothing else.
You're just in your own little world and it goes from lifting to competitions to things that don't matter to hanging out
To all the sudden. I mean it was such a fun weekend. It was so fun. I
Have a hard time believing anyone that really likes going to the gym would not think that this is one of the best weekends of their life
Gary asked if the weekend gave us any ideas for the lift hard live easy classic
We play the natty anthem all we
I guess we actually because normally a lot of times we do if we pull ideas from things
This gave me a lot of weekends
I'm not sure gave me any for the lift hard live easy classic because that's such a different event like that
This was just a hangout of a small group of people the lift hard Levise is I mean like the closest thing to an actual event right you know it's
it I don't think the two scale very well just different yeah Keith also asked if
we talked any of them into coming to Aberdeen well we're not gonna spoil any
surprises but I'll just say this yes Yes. So there will be some point here,
some fun stuff coming from that.
Short answer is yes.
I believe some of them will be making the trip,
the pilgrimage to the Mecca.
Yep.
All right, anything else on the Ego Olympics?
Stay tuned for the YouTube content coming out ours
And I mean mostly Jujutsu honestly is where the really really awesome stuff of the actual event is that you're not gonna want to miss
Miss any of that on the Jujutsu channel
Yes, that's I mean we definitely missed stuff because there were so many things that happened that weekend that it's impossible to remember them and play
them all back, but
Yeah, the big one is watch out for that YouTube videos all of the YouTube videos make sure you watch them comment
Like all the good stuff. So Gigi knows how amazing of a job he did with it all

Did you kick them all out?
They are out of here.
Oh, finally. Yeah. So April 1st, 2025.
We can't say what it is yet.
So we are gearing up for it.
We might've changed the game.
Yeah, there is a single product release
coming April 1st, 2025.
What day of the week is April 1st?
Does it even matter?
Tuesday, works out pretty good.
Perfect.
I'm glad it's not like a Sunday morning or something.
Yeah, gonna be a perfect nice little Tuesday this this week and I are the this year and
I think that's gonna drop relatively early in the day on April 1st and
I'm just gonna admit it. We changed the freaking game here to
Can't understate enough how many phone calls back and forth
I can't understate enough how many phone calls, back and forth conversations,
R&D time went into this one.
May possibly more R&D, well, possibly more R&D
into this than any product would ever.
Let's just say the world didn't want it to happen,
but we made it happen.
We made it happen.
There was a lot of roadblocks along the way,
but we, as dedicated as we are, Would not give up on it. Yeah
There's been some talk that maybe
That April 1st coincides with April Fool's Day and possibly this whole thing is a farce and there isn't a product to that
I would say you just wait
See there's no joke
Think we are the guys that would goof off
about having a really cool thing to release?
Like, would we make that up?
No, there is no joke about the amount of time
that we spent prepping this damn release.
Yeah, we're not the type of company
to just like leave you hanging
and hype up this big product
and then not have a real product.
No, not cash out when we can.
Yeah, so stay tuned. April 1st, 2025.
It's going down. The game will it's going down for real.
It's been one week since you looked at me.
It's going to be like, it's going to be like the bare naked ladies and the Natty
anthem are just playing at the same time all day.
It's like the bare-naked ladies and the Natty Anthem are just playing at the same time all day.
You know what it's really gonna be like? It's gonna be like, uh, let me see what it's gonna be like. It's gonna be a little something like this.
This is how I'm gonna pop out of bed in the morning.
On April 1st, my alarm is gonna go off
But it's April 1st be nice to me, please
Prefer to be like buck cherry than the disturbed. That's a better way to wake up. Yeah.
So that being said, watch out for April 1st.
One thing we didn't cover about the trip
was possibly, we went and talked about Mikey's falls.
That was not the biggest fall of the trip.
No, nor the most brutal of the trip.
You better set the stage what happened there, okay, so we're we glad in Minneapolis we have a pretty tight connection
So you get there you have a theory. Yeah in theory. Yes, so we're in a rush
we hop on the what's at the tram the little train they have that runs from terminal to terminal and
We get on it, you know, we're quick young guys,
we can move cat-like with our reflexes
and we get on that train, no problem,
and we kind of move, we stay by the door,
but we just move to the backside of it,
you know, against the wall.
And everyone's on the train
and the doors are just about to start moving.
And there's a lady I would say in her mid-60s
who is trying to make a move for the door.
She's trying to get on the train before it takes off.
And she's got that one hand on the suitcase.
And she sees...
I guess you'd call it running, right?
Yeah, as much as you can run at that condition of her life.
She's trying to make a run for the door,
and the doors are slowly starting to close.
And she is getting her last
two big steps in and something catches and
She ate shit hard like
And it wasn't just that she fell hard
It was that no part of her body was trying to stop that in any way
Like the one hand stayed on the suitcase the whole time and the other hand just didn't do a goddamn thing.
It was nowhere to be seen. That hand was gone. It was and her head hit the floor of that train
so hard and I was like in shock because I'm like, whoa! And Tanner just goes, holy shit!
And it like audibly just... Oh you did and it was... I like uncontrollably, I was just, that was just all,
I was like, holy shit.
Cause her head hit like three feet from our feet, you know.
And everyone around us was, ooh.
You know like, the entire train let out a reaction.
You couldn't not do it.
And so she's on the ground and the train doors
are trying to close on her.
And like the intercom thing is doing the automated
You are delinquent. You are delaying the train
Please move from the doors and like they're trying to close on her and all luckily for us
Because I had glasses on those are like the glass broken and tommy picks them up
Luckily for us there was a lot more I should say, uh, like helpful carrying
women in the space because I didn't know what the hell to do.
I'm like, who did I?
Like, I'm not gonna let you rot,
but there's probably someone here
that's better at what should happen here than me.
And yes, luckily there was.
There was a group of like three or four ladies
that were like instantly there to help her.
And I just thought like she'd landed on her head
really hard, but then she popped up in blood
or was running down her face and it's like, oh yeah.
So yeah, it was as bad as it looked actually.
And luckily for her, for that lady,
there was several other, well actually,
of course one of the people's a doctor.
Right.
I'm a doctor and you know,
although she did not say that right away.
No, she did not leave it with that.
I had a feeling she was trying to get to her flight too.
And then eventually it was like, oh okay.
I'm like morally obligated to help here. But there was several people that said, She was trying to get to her flight too and then eventually was like okay
Morally obligated to help
There was several people that said I don't have a tight connection. I'll stay with her. I'll help and then we did
So we knew she was in good hands. We ended up getting some food and we saw
Her out of a bench 30 EMT. Yeah, I'll come help her and I mean she did walk off on her own and yeah, I mean it wasn't like it's okay
I mean she probably had a concussion. I was gonna say it wasn't like she passed out
But yeah, she probably did have a minor concussion of some kind
Probably the hardest ever seen someone just in public take a take a knock to the head though
just to like
Continue to paint the picture a little bit on this
the way she fell, it like,
you know when someone does the worm?
Yeah, look at that.
Whip her whole body.
Yes, whipped her face into the ground.
Like I'm not, she didn't like fall
and skid her face into the ground.
No, no, her head broke her fall.
Like it was.
And all the direction of the force,
it wasn't a slide across, like the direction was continuing to push her forward
Oh, yeah, all her momentum all went
Whap until it hit the very last point of her body whipping through the mo the motion like cracking a whip was her face
Yeah into the floor of the tram and it was like her forehead like her forehead cracked open was like it was absolutely
Something you would have seen on like a tosh point
Oh, I like ridiculousness. Yes. Oh, then yeah like where I'm like, whoa
Yeah, it was it was good. That was like the hardest ever seen anyone fall in public ever
it was shocking to me like I was just like
Speechless by what happened, you know
like speechless by what happened. You know, it was crazy to see
and to be right at our feet too.
I mean, we saw the entire thing happen.
It wasn't like, there was definitely several people
that heard a noise and saw this lady on the ground,
but no, we saw the entire thing take place
and it was wild.
Everyone was very nice and she was taken care of
and you know, you got her glasses.
I mean, her glasses were ruined.
There's no way that those were ever working the other way.
I look down and I'm like the arms are going
like in opposite directions.
Yeah, they were.
Yeah, those are ruined.
Yeah, so stay safe out there people, be careful.
Which all reminds us,
make sure to get yourself a drink spotter
from Mastinics.com.
So that doesn't happen to you.
Yes.
Now I got to hear about what I've been wanting to hear about is the collab.
I actually already watched the video.
For the record, I never miss a perfect little Swedish YouTube video, so I've already watched it.
So I kind of feel like I was there with you guys.
Was that just last night?
That was last night.
I joked when he left.
I go, all right, now I expect to see this up
before the night's over.
And it was up an hour later.
I'm like, oh damn, he's not fooling around here.
He was on the ball.
He was on it.
He did show up.
Well, because he'd been messaging me.
He's like, oh, I got to come lift sometime
because I forget Bryce never came during crew falls
because he was working.
So he'd never been to my gym.
And I said, well, I'll be back next week.
I'll hit you up.
We can figure something out.
And I, I messaged him, I think, like two days ago
and said the time and confirmed and he came and we perfect.
It worked out perfect for me.
And my strength
co plates had shown up that day too so he got there and I go are we filming this he
goes ah I wasn't sure I mean I brought my microphones just in case but I don't know
and I'm like dude yeah I've been on camera for non-stop for like the last two and a half
days like another hour in the gym doesn't bug me at all I guess I'm cool with it if
you want to do something he's like yeah it's just kind of a pain I'm not sure and then about 30 seconds later. It's like yeah, I better do it actually
we put the microphones on and we started with a little strength co-unboxing and
He had just a bench like a bench in an incline day and some accessories and I had a squat day and I
When I woke up that day, I was pretty damn tired from just I
Mean you don't realize how much that takes out of you doing what we did
just from a mental and also a physical standpoint.
And I was like, I realize, can I, can I even live today?
And as the day went on, I got those caffeine levels back up.
I think we both like, I'll probably need to take a break from caffeine.
I was like, no, no, today is not the day to stop that.
So bring them back up those levels back in alignment, and I was I was feeling good
I'm like oh, yeah, yeah Bryce better recommend
did some
Did some squatting out of the racks interesting squatting out of the the rack when someone's benching there, too
You got to be kind of careful because there's not a whole lot of room
But we made it work plates had to the plates had to have been close to each other, wasn't they?
That's what I was looking on the video.
They probably had a few inches of space.
Luckily I don't step very far from the rack,
so it worked out okay.
Did you have to step less far back?
No, I do what I always do.
I always hit, I stay so close to it,
it's not uncommon for me to hit the plates
on the way up when I'm squatting.
Yeah.
On the actual rack, because I stay that close to it.
So, yeah, luckily for me, I didn't have to change
my form at all, but I did just have to be like, Oh,
now is not the time to accidentally take a big step back because I would have
hit his plates because what is it? My rack is only like the 30 inch depth ones.
So, um, yeah, we got a, got a little lift in and it was a lot of fun. Like I,
it's the first time outside of having a lift here with you that I've lifted with someone in my garage and
Yeah, I forget what it's like to
Just lift and have someone to kind of talk to you know while you're in the gym actually
So with the new set a pair of strength co 45s did you have enough weights then well technically I could have used one more
pair of strength co-45s
I do have other 45s here. Yeah, but
Bryce is just like I just keep throwing tens on and so to get to his last
Like his top single was was it 345?
I think so we had 20 we were up to 275 and then we just put 40 pounds worth of tens on each side
To and then I think like a five to get to the the three
45 or whatever he was going up to yeah
Yeah, it looked like fun. Oh, yeah, it was a good time though
Okay, so we had a lot of collabs this week between just collab city over here little sweeties
Yep, I do have a little thinker Tanner. I have a little machine suggestion for you. I think oh
after
after I was doing
Some reflection on this weekend, and I think on your on your wishlist
We did use a lot of different machines. We got to use this is messed around
Yeah, cuz the last time we had jujutsu we didn't get to use any machines like we were messed around like for example that
his like the temple of gains Yeah, cuz the last time we had you just we didn't get to use any machines like we were messing around like for example that his
like the temple of gains
Lateral raised machine I would say after using both those the panada I would pick the arsenal one all day over the panada one
Oh, yeah, I would say that time
But I think one thing you could maybe put on your wish list someday I could see in the massonomics gym a Gluteator in there someday. I think one thing you could maybe put on your wishlist someday I could see in the
massonomics gym a gluteator in there someday.
I think that would be a pretty cool little addition to the gym.
I even did a little looking I did not realize I don't think that company exists anymore
is like Dynavec.
Didn't Juju say something about that when we did his?
Yeah, but I wasn't sure if he was saying they don't exist or if they just weren't taking orders or what the deal was
But I was looking and like their website
Doesn't doesn't work like you can't if you follow the links from their Instagram or their Facebook page
It just goes to a dead dead end. It's not there
Right, and I was trying to look around and I mean you can't find them to buy anywhere
So I'm sure that does not help the affordability
on those machines.
But there are some Alibaba rip-offs of it.
And I'm sure they probably are pretty similar.
But the machine did have some magic sauce with the way
that it made my glute burn.
I had not felt, I mean, just instantly.
Didn't you say immediately?
Oh, for me me within three reps,
like it felt like I was getting a Charlie horse
in both of my ass cheeks.
Like it was tightening up so much.
And that was with one plate and you're like,
no, I don't feel this at all.
And then you put two plates on and after like 10,
you're like, I think I'm starting to feel it.
But for me, it was just like every, every rep.
So I don't know if that means
I have a serious glute deficiency.
But with that being said, I am
glute workout, glute building is on the menu. We're addressing
that weakness here that yeah, after that machine didn't really
take up that big of a footprint. No, that's what I was
gonna say. That was the other thing is, as far as machine
goes, it is a relatively small footprint. Like, it's probably
not a whole lot bigger than when we're at Paul's and his Titan leg extension machine, right?
Honestly, it's probably marginally bigger than that one. So were you saying you're gonna do some hip thrusts, maybe
Well, I was looking at that. So get it's so funny
we kept talking about pencil neck stuff all weekend and science-based lifting and house, you know screw that and
I was like, yeah, hip thrust,
that's what I need to start doing
because I just ignore them.
Because I don't really like setting them up
and doing the whole thing.
I'm like, wait a minute, just because that's the first one
that comes to mind for me doesn't necessarily mean
that that's the best glute building exercise.
So I'm on YouTube typing like, glute exercises.
And of course I see the Jeff Nippard video
and I don't watch any of his stuff, but I'm like, okay, he has a tier list for his best glute exercises. And of course, I see the Jeff Nippard video, and I don't watch any of his stuff,
but I'm like, okay, he has a tier list
for his best glute exercises.
Like, I need to go through and see what he says.
And on his whole tier list,
what it comes down to at the end
is he basically has in his S+,
his ultimate best glute building exercise,
he picked walking lunges.
And I'm like, okay, I've never done walking lunges. I've done like,
you know, lunges in place. But so when Bryce was here, I did do
some walking lunges. I'm like, I yeah, I can see how this does it
because you don't need to go that heavy to really feel the
strain on it. So I'm going to start working those in and then
he also had like the glute adductor machine. He had that
in his S list on his S tier. He had front foot raised Smith machine lunges as S tier
or Bulgarian split squats and a Smith machine with your front foot raised. That'd actually
be an amazing exercise I think to do in the gym like, you know on your Smith machine
I think that would be great. I don't have that option. I was like all I could just do is just
Split squats just not on the Smith machine, you know my gym
I don't think that's that big of a deal
so I might add those in too and then he also had back raises as
a way to really hit that and then so then I'm watching stuff of like
how can I rig up a back raise in my gym and I think I can kind of like between
barbells and and
I think I can kind of hack that one a little bit
So I'm gonna give that a try but the I'm just gonna have to buy that black and orange
machine
He's like so I just gonna get that one I'm like
No, I just don't want to buy the machine that does 50 things in one that has
10,000 knobs that you're moving all over and the marketing that's been all over my face
I feel like I'm letting the system beat me if I go with that so
Until that I'm still holding out, but I would I mean if I had the space the first thing that would be on my list
I just buy it tomorrow. I would just get a I just get a glued ham
I would just get a I just get a glued ham
Developer machine I would just get one. Yeah, but still fighting that space battle. So a thing. Yeah
So until then we're gonna have walking lunges and maybe some barbell split squats on the menu I like those are good options. I think so too until you get the gluteator
Until I just break down until that gluteator pops up in marketplace in Sioux Falls, and I just buy it yeah
This episode was brought to you by our friends over at juggernaut AI you can check them out for yourself at juggernaut AI
Dot-app it's the training that we use Tommy's using juggernaut AI right now for his training. He's talking about training with Bryce
I notice you're doing squats
What what was your scheme for squats on juggernaut? So I officially restarted my program because the last couple I should say month and a half have been brutal
so the last month and a half has just been Tommy programming himself just kind of hanging on and
this was the official start of my
Like 18 week program or whatever it ended up being into You're into the lift hard lift easy classic in case something comes up.
Yep. In case something comes up.
And my top set was a set of six at 365.
My drop sets are about 345, but they were so easy.
You know, I've just been horse cocking weights all weekend that I was on another
level. So there's those horse cocking heavy loads all weekend.
Come on Juggernaut.
You don't know that I've been horse cocking heavy loads with boobs. I on Juggernaut. You don't know that I've been
horse cocking heavy loads. I'm on a different level now things have changed
here. None of this pencil next year. Yeah pencil neck where we do drop sets no no
no so by the time I was done I was back up to like 355. I could have easily went back to my
working set but Juggernaut was keeping it somewhat conservative but I'm to say
things are getting pretty serious on there.
So Tommy's using it to peek towards a meet the meet really.
Even if you're not competing in lift, hardly easy classic.
If you're competing in any meet, it would be a great program to hop on to do that
same sort of thing. Or if you just want to try and increase your squat bench and
deadlift and lead that up towards a testing day, even it's not a competition just to test any day in the
gym it's great for that. You can use discount code Mastinomics it'll save you
10% for the lifetime of your membership you just need to use it when you sign up
through the web browser at juggernautai.app ends up being about 30 bucks a month
thank you juggernaut.
Thank you Juggernaut.
Oh, was there one more thing I wanted to ask about?
I didn't put it on the list. You know what happens if it doesn't get on the list?
It just doesn't happen.
I just don't remember it if it's not on the list.
YouTube, lots going on there.
Yeah, that's what I actually was thinking about.
Last week's YouTube video was Darko's home gym tour, correct? Mm-hmm
That one's a bit of a banger people are enjoying that one
Yeah, that one is going really well actually a lot of good comments, too
Yeah, and then the week that this comes out the newest video will actually be the Beyond Power Vulture
are
We use the word review, but it's more of a what is it a show-and-tell and over?
Yeah, demo an overview first impression, but there's
Just watch it if you are skeptical of home gym tech
Like yours truly is right here watch that thing and you're gonna have some aha moment some real eye openers
and you'll see it happening in real time to me where it's all kind of making sense and I'm having that revelation and
Yeah, I mean I'm always gonna be a barbell plate kind of guy, but I can see how
Probably not in the too distant future if someone's starting to home gym
They might honestly just get a vulture and call it good. Yep
What would you rather have a power beyond power of ultra or a tsunami bar and a power pole
Oh, you don't have
All you get in your home gym one. Oh, that's all I get. Okay, that's all I get in my home gym
Yeah, sorry, but sure. Well, do I get or the other one?
This is a bar. Um, I guess you get plates for this and for the power pole
Okay, that actually is a tough one. Um, I
Mean
Honestly, if I could only pick I'd probably pick the vulture, but it wouldn't be an easy decision
Like I'm thinking about like it's not
Because you could get some banging workouts in with the tsunami. I mean, you could just do all your regular lifts with the tsunami bar,
and they'd be really hard at a certain point.
And then you also have the power pole.
And you have the power pole for conditioning and all that.
Good mornings and walking.
I don't know.
Actually, if I'm getting ready to do, if I'm going to actually be focused
on powerlifting, I'm actually going to pick, if I could only have two things,
I would pick the tsunami bar and the power pole over the vulture because as awesome as the
vulture is, it isn't a barbell at the end of the day. So right. And it only goes up
to 200 pounds and I'm going to max that sucker out in a hurry because you know, we're in
the gym or horse cocking horse cocking pencil neck stuff 200 pounds. No, not enough.
Let us know in the comments if you could only choose and price is no issue
You just you pick one of those a package you have an empty room
And you have to go train there for the rest of your life and door a has a voltage sitting in it door B
Has a tsunami bar plates and a power pole what door you walking through?
Let us know in the YouTube comments which one you're choosing.
Please let us know.
Actually leave a comment.
I want to know because I don't know.
Some people would for sure, I think if you don't think about it, maybe people would think
the Power of Ultra.
What do you think people would choose for?
I wasn't sure when I asked the question even.
It was just a stupid question.
But now that after you talking it through, I'm like, I'm pretty sure I would pick the Tsunami bar and the Power of Ultra. I wasn't sure when I asked the question even it was just a stupid question But now that after you talking it through I'm like, I'm pretty sure I would pick the tsunami bar and the I think I would
Too well cuz it seems so obvious that well the vulture is the more serious training device, right?
Right, but then as I thought about it more like I don't actually know if it is the more serious device really like right if I
Want to build absolute strength? I think cuz the tsunami bar with plates is kind of a bar at the end of the day
Oh, it is a bar at the end of the day and like it's a it's a bar that fights you a lot, right?
I think you could get really strong training with just a tsunami bar
It'd be crazy to think that that someone's introduction to barbell training is this is not me part
Then plus the power pole is just like icing on the cake. Oh, absolutely
Icing on the cake. It's the power on the pole.
Dude, go do a power pole race, put three plates on that thing
and take off running.
It's a sensation, man.
Feel that.
Speak from experience.
Just telling you, I've done it.
I know.
Yes.
How about I'm going to do something a little unorthodox here.
