What is the training update Tommy
God I am riding an Ohio hangover. And it's pretty amazing because I didn't drink a lick alcohol on that trip.
But I mean, if I didn't know any better, I'd say I was just hammered every night
because I am feeling it this week.
It has been brutal.
I had to.
And then what makes it worse
is that normally I could just extend days out
and catch up on the weekend, but you can be guaranteed
if I'm ever in a pinch, it's a weekend my wife works,
which makes it damn near impossible,
especially when you start looking at some higher RPE days
where I really wanna be dialed in on the focus
and not have my kids running around, I just want me time.
That's not an option this week, so that means I have my kids running around. I just want me time. That's not an option this week.
So that means I have to get it in.
And we got back.
We'll go more into the details.
I was luckily back in my bed at home probably at like 11,
15-ish.
You were back at home much later than that, Tanner.
But like I said, we'll touch on that.
Tuesday morning, I woke up.
We'll get into all the greasy details of that.
Tuesday morning, I woke up and I felt awful, but I had to bench.
I actually was supposed to squat that day.
I knew that just could not happen.
So I moved my bench day because that day is less taxing bench went fine.
It didn't move as good as it has been, but it went fine today.
I had to do my squat day.
And then I had some other random crap in my life that pushed that out.
And it was five sets of three or three sets of five at four Oh five. Today I had to do my squat day and then I had some other random crap in my life that pushed that out and
It was five sets of three or three sets of five at 405
And first set moved pretty damn good the next they all move fine
But uh, it just was not it's not moving with the same pop that it has been the last few weeks
So i'm hoping
That uh, I have rp 10 deadlift day at the end of this week. I'm hoping
I can get caught up on sleep tonight and tomorrow and just nail that
Nail that our p10 day on Friday
So what I'm saying is training is still going very good
I've just have been these masonomics trips are getting more taxing as the as the months go by so it's just recovery gets a little
More challenging well luckily juggernaut AI
by. So it's just recovery gets a little more challenging.
Well, luckily juggernaut AI, you know, if you're having rougher days like that, you're you're inputting your RP and it's
planning accordingly. I know I don't like doing that, though.
That hurts me on the inside to see the suggested number before
I start the workout. And then if I tell it I'm feeling like
crap, and it bumps it down, I get it why it has to happen. But
I'm not getting the full training stimulus then I don't
enjoy that as much. You just don't love to see it
I just that's one thing I do not love to see you love that it's there, but you hate to have to use it
That's the second thing exactly
Yeah, I have the the exact same experience as far as my training this week I
Benched on Tuesday. It was actually quite heavy bench. I got them all, but I'm
quite positive if it would have been a little bit easier. Like based on the way the last
few weeks moved when I felt good on just normal training days, the way this, and I mean, I
got them all. So I, I, I know, but sometimes just getting them all isn't enough. You want
to get them all and not feel like you had to sacrifice something to do it.
Yeah, and then because I'm behind altogether
then I had to go in and deadlift right away again today
on my second day back and that was a weight
that I thought I should have in the bag
and it was an RPE 10.
Yeah, doesn't that suck?
For my top set of 10 deadlifts.
Doesn't that suck?
And I'm just like, it just was so weird to me that,
cause it was, so I had 475 for a set of 10,
which isn't necessarily light for me, but it's.
God, that's a lot.
I felt like I should have been easier for me and the tenth one
Like I didn't lose position at all or anything. It wasn't like I was my back was rounding
You know, I could hold like a perfect position, but the lockout of the last or that's where I got you insane
And it didn't even feel like some grind because I'm felt so my body feels so weak
It didn't feel like this max effort grind like you're at a powerlifting meet. Mm-hmm. It felt like this. Oh my god
I have some like acute weakness in my legs, right?
That I just can't stand the rest of it
I almost it was almost laughable in the heat of the rep because I'm like what is happening right now
It's just so gas. That's just fatigue
It was definitely a fatigue issue
But I'm kind of I'm actually
Aware of that and feeling like the next few weeks are probably gonna go pretty good like after just get
Scraping through these and then getting back a little recovery and probably
feeling better in subsequent weeks or even the end of this week.
Yeah, that's I'm hoping the end of this week.
Well, luckily we'll be all night up all night podcasting tonight.
So it'll be love didn't really get to bed at a good time last night still.
So someday I know sleep when I'm dead.
Yeah, I can't get it up for one more.
Might as well start throwing the frigging dirt on me now.
That's right.
Cover me in that frigging dirt.
You got a drink over there at all?
I do, but first,
as part of recovery and beverages,
you know, I'm just trying to keep up this week.
And if you're ever in a deficit and you need to catch up,
this Peach Rings Genius Shot,
I think is a great option to go to.
Oh, hello.
I don't think I've had this one yet.
No, you haven't.
That was in your last box that sent you, right?
Yeah.
Hopefully that scent that was in there
does not carry over to this beverage,
because I might puke if that happens.
If it permeated.
If it permeated this plastic bottle.
Nobody knows what scent you're talking about, but nobody can know about no that is as of yet
So I'm just saying if I do start projectile vomiting instantly that is why it has been tainted. Yeah
Little you'll understand more about that in a future episode
Yeah, now the plastic doesn't smell so I'm assuming the contents are safe
We cracked one of these on the road while we were going I had a couple of them
I think did you only have one or did I think I only had one I think okay?
Down the hatch he's pouring her down there
Would you that one is not bad
That one's my favorite one. I just always think they're gonna be worse than what they are and they just always surprise me
That's pretty good. Yeah. Yeah, what was the name of that flavor again?
peach rings
Yeah, big Brandon says he wants to know if they're actually good. I demand samples with orders
I would say they're pretty like for
Getting 23 grams of protein somehow in like two ounces, it tastes surprisingly
good.
So this is good.
Because they're not paying us anything so I can't write.
They just sent us.
Yeah, we could say we could.
Yeah, that's a good point.
We would say it sucked if it's on.
Yeah, I will say full disclosure.
I was not lying when I said these things taste significantly better than I thought they would.
Like they're they're just like juice as far as the liquid goes
There's zero texture to it. It's just pure juice
I
Would actually buy these
Frequently if two things one they were available locally and I could just when I was at the store just throw a few in my cart
Yeah, just cuz it's so convenient then and then number two. I think they're like four bucks a pop, which is just
kind of on the spendy side, especially when you're considering comparing against the gold standard of
cottage cheese. You know, it's you're really paying for the convenience I get. It is that is what you
are paying for the sale or something. You get them on a discount code. Maybe there's something there.
Yeah. And some people four bucks for 23 grams of protein. They're probably like, yeah, I don't care
at all. I understand how that's not a price point people four bucks for 23 grams of protein. They're probably like yeah, I don't care at all
I understand how that's not a price point that's accessible for a lot of people like as far as bulk orders go
but if you can if that doesn't bother you at all and
It wouldn't be my daily driver, but it's perfect for the convenient
You know because it was actually a lot of other options that I can do on my daily driver like cottage cheese
Yeah, obviously. Yeah, but if you just need something on the go,
you'd be actually hard pressed to find something that's better
and more convenient than this.
My mother was in
Crew Falls this weekend, and she brought a special delivery,
bulk delivery of cottage cheese back with her.
Oh, what does she bring?
Just the big daisy ones. Oh, what does she bring just the big daisy ones? Oh
Grab the high V ones. Well, she was at Costco
Yeah, next time I have to tell her to try that is so does Costco only probably only has one brain
I've only seen the daisy one there. I've never seen a Kirkland brand or any other one, but the daisy is still
Pretty reliable. It is the most reliable
because actually I take that back. I was hyping up the high V one as being the best ever.
And the last time I went, I got three tubs of it and it's not bad, but it was not as
good as the previous ones. The texture was definitely different. Isn't that annoying?
Oh, so annoying because the last one's like, this is the pinnacle. This is as good as it gets. And now I'm like, yeah, I could actually almost just sub this
with Daisy at this point. Yeah. And I got three of them. Good. Yeah. Daisy is still
fine. It's fine. But I've got three, I got three of those tubs and two of them have been
the exact same. Maybe I'll get lucky in the third one. Sometimes I noticed that they're
in the same run. Even some one to one will be other different. Like Target has the kind back that I do. What
is the cottage? What we say cottage, but it's like little
home or something. Yeah, whatever. Yeah, blue one. They
have those back again. The first batch we had back the first one
I opened I was like, Oh, God, you guys were like out of these
and you're I don't know you're rush ordering to make more and you screwed it up
That's what I'm picturing in my head
Formula is all off trying to get him out and you screwed it up
But then the second one was good again
So and it was like the same expiration date and you could have done them side by side and they're
Absolutely different like I think nine times nine people out of ten would have been like yeah
These are not it must be somewhat delicate in the production process
where just little things can really send it off.
Big damn Unger said he tried peanut powder.
Yeah, I wanted to pretend I didn't read that sentence
right there.
I was trying to erase it from my memory.
He tried peanut powder in cottage cheese.
What, all right, let's talk about that peanut butter. I just gotta say
though, I feel bad for the people that just kind of cheese
on its own isn't isn't good enough. I feel bad for those
people. They are really having to work themselves out of a
deficit not being able to have that in the nutrition routine.
You got a lot of ground to make up with other inferior.
You do.
Like, oh, I'll eat Greek yogurt.
It's basically the same.
Wrong again.
Wrong again, everyone that doesn't like cottage cheese.
Remember at the Arnold, people were getting some
of that free peanut butter powder stuff?
Yeah.
Okay, well what was it?
There was one of them where the macros were-
I don't really care about that.
I don't- that is-
I'm not so about that stuff.
But the one that we were looking at, the macros were, I mean, not even questionable.
They just weren't good, right?
It wasn't even like protein heavy.
Wasn't it just like- and I don't know what that one maybe maybe different ones are they have different profiles, but I could have swore that one
it was a serving was
four grams of protein five grams of fat and like one gram of carbs and I'm like I
guess protein isn't the last macro, but
Jake from Dick State Farm said cottage cheese with protein powder and brown sugar
does not sound good to me one bit. I would just eat the cottage cheese and then when I'm done wash it
done with the protein shake that's what I would do. What about a little grease in there with the kind of cheese? Make it a little greasy. Grease it up.
Yeah.
All right.
How about oh, we saw that.
So that was your sack segment.
No, that's not my sack segment.
Oh, that's not your sack segment.
I'm going to save my sack segment for later on in the show.
OK.
But I did just crack a crispy one here.
What do you got?
Kirkland lime.
I got something a little different this week.
I've got a,
any guesses?
The can is white, definitely a white monster.
The bottom is green though.
You won't guess it.
It's a Spindrift sparkling water, lime and mint.
Oh, okay, that could be interesting.
I don't know about the mint.
Spindrift alone is a little different to begin with.
I'm not sure if we've ever had a mint flavored one ever,
have we? Yeah.
Wow, that's kind of surprising to think about.
Cause mint is pretty potent,
which would make sense in a sparkling water.
Mint, mint, mint.
Mm, it smells a little minty. in the sparkling water. Mint, mint, mint.
Hmm, it smells a little minty. It's getting minty.
Hmm, the mint is not all that strong thankfully.
This would, but my first thought is it would be just better
without the mint altogether.
Then you're back to lime
Spin drift is a little different though. Mm-hmm horse of a different color
Hmm I'll give this a three not loving the mint
It's not what I want in a sparkling water per se it's it's fine'll finish it. But yeah, it's not what I'm after. Hmm.
Yeah, it's a little different, but it's fine.
Yeah. Can't win them all. Should we start with our with the merch items or I suppose we kind of
all those to quiet.
I want to feel it.
Yeah, you can't listen to disturbed quietly.
No, is disturbed allowed to be played quietly?
Like, can you just like like just put a little background disturbed on?
Like, I need a little quiet in here. Can you just put some soft, soft volume disturbed on the radio?
Not in the freaking country I live in.
No, no, disturbed is meant to be crank it to 11
and bust the knob off.
Crank it to down with the sickness at 11
and bust the knob off.
Just get really sweaty too.
Yeah, so we're doing our trip, the big rundown.
Well are we doing that or are we doing our merch first?
Oh, we're doing our merch first.
We better do our merch first.
Get it out there.
So everyone listening live, which,
there's a decent number of you listening live,
you all gotta be sworn to secrecy
because we're recording this on a Wednesday night
and the drop is actually tomorrow, the 8th everyone most the people listening
This doesn't matter because it's already out now
So we want to showcase these things that you can buy but some of you that are listening live
You got to keep your greasy little lips sealed on this one because
Let those non live listeners
Several to not know you can just like hint at things and be and make fun of them for not knowing.
Just like the pre show.
All right.
Four new items in this drop.
This is actually a big one.
It's a big one.
Last month, all we really came out with horse was,
well, not all, I mean, it was big.
It was horse stall mat coasters, but.
Just the horse stall mat coasters.
So it's been a little while since we did anything new.
So we really wanted to spice things up a little bit
So what do we got four items we got any of them to show off over there at all actually
Think I might have all of them right here. Let me see. Should I go grab them? Yeah, maybe I don't
Arms reach we're gonna time. He's grabbing them, but we're gonna have an upper body garment a
low low low body garment
Receptacle and
Oh
Tell you what I'm a decoration around and I really awakened a smell if you know what I mean
Oh
I've had them sitting next to this open window here airing out for the last two days
And I thought I had solved the problem, but I guess I just hadn't disturbed them
We'll get to that smell in a future episode. It'll make sense later, but you can't know now. How does that shirt smell?
Not great
Yeah, well so everyone knows there's a certain certain side it is
putting off I sent Tommy a box and stuff in the mail and everyone knows what goes
in a massonomics box every time it leaves the all right should we start
with the shirt a lot of people have seen this that they've been paying attention
yeah so we have I can't see if that's showing up on camera at all or not yeah, it's probably hard to tell might be hard to tell the color on camera, but it is a new
lifting department T on the comfort colors
slightly slightly more generous fit 100% cotton tee the comfort colors we've been using more often and
Anyone want to guess what the color of that is? Any
any takers? Any guessers?
Official color is called there even
I know what it is. There's been a lot of people thrown around
the mint. And it's not mint. It is of course, Island Reef. Oh,
that's right. You guess right. If you bet on Island Reef, you
are correct. It is Island Reef colored Yep, Antoni knew it. It was island reef
What what color doc Jake from State Farm posted the dress?
I always thought it was gold and I can't even remember now to me that looks gold every time
But like the one part looks blue doesn't it no none of it looks blue to me at all
Oh, okay, it just looks straight up gold and white to me
White that's all parts gold the top very top is gold, but what's the other part then white?
It looks like blue and shit brown see I don't see that at all
Hi, I just I got very angry with people when I used to work in an office about this come like there's no way that
It's not gold
What parts gold then the shitty brown part? Oh?
Well when I click on it it starts moving that must be a gift, okay?
Yeah, the very top parts gold all day
All day long I do not see that
What about that one the some Antony reposted the 100% okay, and this is here
Let me let me do
I care if this proved my point or it made me look dumb if I take it into Photoshop
Yeah, if I take it into Photoshop, and I drop that yellow that gold it comes up is I mean like I
It comes up as like it's slightly more brown, but it comes up as a gold. What's the other part say?
Doesn't know it's the it's like the classic white dress blue dress I
Don't know very popular if I I dropped the other part it comes out
I'll put these screenshots in here out and again. I mean you guys you could take these
Eyedrops from different parts of it, right, right?
But I'll just I just took it from the top part where the colors are a little
brighter. Yeah, and I'll put I'll put these two in and you
tell me you tell me in the discord what these colors seem
like they're derivatives of. What does it seem like the
computer's telling you those colors are huh?
What does it look like?
Photoshop big Photoshop is in on it.
That's what I'm telling you. That's a my see. I see like gold and white or gold and like slightly gray. And to me,
that's what Photoshop is confirming that when you I
dropped those. But apparently, I think I'm actually wrong.
Ain't isn't it something else
Yeah, Antony says you're wrong
Yeah, it's the white balance throwing everything off
What were we talking about island reef
Don't even know anymore. I think it's island reef and
I think it's Island Reef and Mastinomics Red.
So have you worn the stinky Island Reef tee yet? No, because I gotta wash it.
I'm afraid to wash it with anything.
Also note, only Tommy's is smelly.
No one else has this.
Actually, if you, in the comment section,
when you buy something from the new drop,
if you mention, I would like you to cover it
in the terrible scent that Tommy's got I could do that by request
you won't want it but
Do it if you've requested though, don't do it anyone don't do it
So you haven't got to wear I wore the island reef tea all day what on the trip one of the days
What do you think of that color it pops it really does pop
Unlike anything we've ever made before yeah way different than any other color
We've of a shirt we've we've ever over a hundred t-shirts and nothing even in the ballpark of that have we I?
Don't think so
Hogan said he we saw he saw it in person. He said it was the best shirt. I have ever seen well there you go and
Hogan is a man of his word yeah, I
Do really like that one though actually it's very springy. It's very festive for spring
I think and for summer like an east Easter shirt almost yeah
You can wear that thing to the island or any reef in the ocean either spot would be good an island or a reef either
Place it's work good for both. It's island slash reef
Yeah, the killer. Yes
What else you got in your bag of your stinky bag?
I want to go I can't wait until everyone gets to know why your things are so smelly
I know do we want to go down a little lower or we getting thirsty I
Think we're getting thirsty. Okay sound off in the chat if you're getting thirsty and drop a YouTube comment if you we getting thirsty? I think we're getting thirsty. Okay.
Sound off in the chat if you're getting thirsty
and drop a YouTube comment if you're getting thirsty.
Well, we're ready for this?
Let's do it.
Next up on the list.
Completely new.
We have the Perfect Shaker Cup from the Perfect Shaker.
And it's got the, is it the smoke color?
Is that what it is? It's very dark, but you can still see through it and
it's got the Mastinomics logo on it and it has the
Has like the little stick like the little stick spring. I'm not sure what you call that shaker not the shaker ball, but it's a
Like a shaker hourglass that rides up and down this this stick
And I think you described that perfectly everyone definitely knows what I'm talking about there yeah and
this it's just a nice little item you know it's a pretty cheap as far as
products go and it's an easy one to throw in your cart if you need a
Mastinomics branded shaker cup protein
shake bottle water bottle whatever I got you put whatever you want in here that's
not that's not for me to decide it's got a nice little loop on the lid to a
little yeah got a little loop on there and loop it around shaker cup yeah so
we got I'm not gonna bullshit you shaker cups or shaker cups but as far as they
go this is more on the better side than on the worst side. You know what would really set this one off? This and a couple scoops of build
fast formula. Oh hell yeah, brother. Made in heaven. And then set in a drink spotter.
Okay. I mean, when we've never had a shaker cup before oh never all these years and kind of amazing
I'm like shaper every other company in our space probably has and we never have and we thought damn it. We'll do it I
Don't know if I'm gonna take this one totally out because I don't want to get it all dirty
But we also have a silly goose barbell
flag coming up
It's a vertical one. It's the same size as the certified training facility
Just flag it's just it's hot dog instead of hamburger or straight. Oh, yeah, that's right. I forgot about that
Yes. Yes, we turned it sideways
So silly goose barbell with the goose the goose logo is straight up and down but the flag orientation is yeah
It fit better on a horizontal or a landscape format versus a vertical
So it's actually we did you know how people put the names upside down on hats. That's what we
So that one's coming look great in your gym, I'm really excited for that and finally
finally
Because last year the people went crazy for it.
I don't know, are you sure everyone's ready for this one?
This one's the biggest, save the best for last right here.
Didn't know if we'd see these again.
I don't think they're ready.
But last year's.
These are gonna be hot commodities,
I'll tell you that much.
I mean, I'm holding them in my hands,
they're burning, they're so hot.
Yeah, these might be all gone.
But last year we did the Red Slides,
they sold out incredibly fast. And year you thought you know what?
We're gonna give the people a second shot at it, but we're gonna mix it up a little bit and this year we've got
black slides
Yeah, and I think they look quite nice. Yeah, some people maybe the red was too much. Maybe the red popped too much
Well now you got black ones or maybe
You wore out the red ones well here you go I can verify I saw two pairs of the red slides on our trip our gym tour
Yeah, this this weekend they both looked in really nice shape too. Uh-huh well one of them was just permanently on display, but right
Yeah, these look these do look really really good. My red ones were getting a little beat up.
You know, I really put them through the ringer last summer, but the black ones look very
fresh and we don't have a ton of sizes on these things, especially when you're talking
footwear.
So if you think you want those, get on it.
Big Sam possibly has worn the red slides more than anyone else I've ever seen.
Sam, how do the, how do the red slides hold up anyone else I've ever seen. Yeah, that's true.
How do the how do the red slides hold up and actually you like squatting them and
do all kinds of stuff?
Are you still in one piece?
Your red slides, Big Sam?
No, that's big. No warm up, Sam.
They haven't been through many warm ups, but they've been through.
It's squad. They've saved a lot of miles on them.
Yeah. Yeah.
He said he wore them to bench 315. There There you go on a bench 315 get the slides
I've I never had the red ones and I've never had a pair from they sold so fast
I couldn't even get a pair so I
Do have a I already did to I'm not missing out this time
So I've been wearing a pair of the black ones last day or two and
Love them. Mm-hmm. Do not sleep on the slides.
The slides will slip on out if you're not careful you silly
Sally's performance and hand enhancing slide wants to know
Brandon wants to know if they fit wide boys. Well, I do know
we have sizes up to like 14 or 15 something like that.
Yeah, I don't know how wide, I don't have sizes.
I don't really have wide feet.
I mean if you have really wide feet,
yeah I mean probably not.
But maybe they stretch, I don't know.
I don't know what the wide foot life is like.
If your feet are square, the shape of squares.
These probably look elsewhere.
For you, yeah. Go talk to a cobbler about making some horseshoes feet are square, the shape of squares. These probably are for you.
Go talk to a cobbler about making some horseshoes
for your hooves or whatever you got.
You're better off just rubber banding one of our horse
tall mat coasters to your foot.
I'm calling a pair of slides.
Okay, so that's the drop.
I think the slides are probably going to sell pretty quickly.
Be careful on the slides.
The shakers we don't have a ton of, so who knows?
No sizing though, it works in your benefit.
Well, there's one size, it's like 20 ounces.
I guess there is a size, yeah, right.
How many ounces does it say? Well, the highest line is 20, but then it goes a little more
So, I don't know probably 20 or actually to know I bet it's 22. You know why so I know why it's 22
Why so you can fit one tub of cottage cheese in it? Oh, yeah, take it to the gym with you. Mmm boy
My mouth is watering right now
Get in between sets in the gym. You just tip up your massonomic shaker a few cards
Somebody your mouth somebody buy the shaker
Send us a picture of it filled to the top with cottage cheese filled to the brim
intro workout cottage cheese you just
Then it gets towards then you start just tapping the tip up the shaker and tap the bottom
So a big clump falls down in your mouth that's like a prize yeah I want to see
someone fill that sucker with cottage cheese level set and take the 22 ounce
tub dump it in there it should be a perfect yeah perfect serving of Jim
cottage cheese mmm sounds incredible what's your favorite item from the new drop? Oh boy?
The YouTube comments to what's all of your favorite? Yeah, that's really hard to say I think cuz they're all so different
You know it's not like three t-shirts or it's real variety pack. Yeah, we got a thing for your for your walls
We had something for your feet something for your upper body something to hold your cottage cheese that's that's a hard one
I'm gonna say I normally wouldn't pick the what's almost the most boring thing
in it but I like the island reef color so much I'm going island reef yeah island
island reef comfort colors tee I wore thing. Can't fault you for saying that one.
Dang, dang was it nice.
That's a good one, a solid tea.
How many colors do you think we can come out with
for the Lifting Department tea?
All of them?
They make a lot.
What are we on there now?
Would this be four, five?
Is it only four?
The last one was-
Gray, dark bluish gray.
Yeah.
Cream and this one, is that it?
Okay, is that it?
I thought maybe it was five.
Yeah, four's not even that many.
We got a long ways to go.
Lot of room left in that one.
Lot of miles left.
Yeah, lot of miles left in the lifting.
It's one of the best tees out there.
Okay, now do we get into all the greasy,
grimy details of our trip?
Well, do we do that or is there some supporting
and some certified facilities?
We should probably do that.
I don't know if we're gonna get to that trip this episode.
Supporting our supporting members.
It's a relatively new segment of the podcast.
Or do you want to do that or certified training facility
the week first? You can use sort of supporting or supporting
members because I got to pull up the the map.
Maybe you do start doing a little looking on the map.
Maybe you'll see something that that tickles your fancy.
OK, OK. OK.
Supporting our supporting members are relatively new segment to the massonomics
podcast where we give back to those that give give to us in
the form of a supporting membership. You could also do
the same. If you go to massonomics.com slash join. It
is quite frankly, the number one way that you can support us in
the podcast and everything that we do. The supporting
memberships really have become the number one thing that keeps us going.
So if you're a fan, even if you just barely tolerate us, but you some for some reason
want to make sure it keeps going, please consider becoming a supporting member.
This week we had a big mad cow hit a family PR with the addition of the new baby girl
to the family.
So well, congrats on the PR.
Big Macho got second place in his master's Clydesdale group at his first triathlon road
to an Ironman for Big Macho.
Big Sam speaking of Big Sam, he got third place for the super heavyweights at his Dia
del Dildo strongman competition. Congrats on the third place.
Looks like some stiff competition there, but he did
well. Big Mikey K also another family PR baby number trace. And
that baby weighed in at one 12th the weight of a horse stall mat
who so I can relate to that on just measure babies in terms of
weight and
length
relative to a horse stall mat mm-hmm so standard horse stall mat six foot in length so
Do the math
big Rory Ellis was the guest this week on the do you even lift bro podcast and
unpaid and underrated this week. We were both on best part of that show.
We were both on it this week for their two year anniversary episode.
Yeah.
It was like a frigging party in there.
We were both on there.
We weren't even on at the same time.
Nope.
It's how crazy it was.
We didn't even know we were at the same party.
Yeah.
That's how many people were at the party. So thanks for everyone for supporting
We'll see who makes this prestigious list next week Have you been looking at the certified training facility? I have and my first thought was we're going international with this
I clicked overseas. No one overseas has a photo. So that takes them off the list
So then I started sent us
to your friggin photos yeah so then I started looking at our neighbors to the
south and on the way east coast of Canada there's a little place called the
meeting room the meeting room this is even east of scantz. Mm-hmm. That's how you know it's a long ways.
Okay the meeting room.
So this is in New Brunswick, correct?
Where's the border?
Is it in New Scotia?
Yeah.
What's it?
Monkton?
New Brunswick?
Yeah, New Brunswick.
OK, you got the meeting room pulled up then.
What do we do? Oh, my God, is we got some pictures here.
Oh, no, Ryan, there's just two.
Yeah, it's the the rest of it's the city.
Looks like a nice place to live.
So the first thing I would say that stands out to me is the flooring.
Wall to wall horse stall mats.
Those are great, don't they black
black gorilla tape or something like a little tape keeping it extra clean looks
like looks like he lucked out pretty good with the width of the room and this is
big Danny I don't know if we mentioned it but it's yes Danny yep yeah cuz width
of the room you're saying there's horse stall mat one the six-foot way one the
four-foot way so it must be about a ten foot wide room that fits just perfectly Yeah, because width of the room you're saying there's horse storm at one the six foot way, one the four foot way.
So it must be about a 10 foot wide room that fits just
perfectly.
And maybe, who knows, maybe those
are trimmed down a little bit.
But it doesn't really look like it, does it?
So that looks good.
Right away, I see the Mastodonics flags
and banners on the wall looking top notch.
We've got a lift one, which is a classic.
It'd be around a while to get one of those.
We've got the power lifting flag. Weight is a number, heavy is a classic Be around a while to get one of those we got the power lifting flag weight is a number heavies a feeling and
Then we got a rack in the middle and being that this is Canada
I would not be surprised if that's a bells of steel rack because it looks a lot like mine
Is it the same the flat foot one? It looks a lot like mine. Yes, like what is that Hydra or Mantic?
Yeah, I have the Hydra and this one appears to be a Hydra too because it looks like there's a westside hole spacing
through the middle there
We got
Some weight pins for weight storage. We've got a few different bars. There's a bells of steel safety squat bar
I see a curl bar that looks like a little different than the standard book curl bar the stick the curl bar fairy gives you
Oh, you must that's probably that's the Canadian
Things are just always a little different over there
I see in the very
In the back they has little landmine set up it appears to be there
You know then in the very bottom corner. It's not obvious, but there are some power blocks sitting there
Yeah, the
What's what's the foreground?
What's foreground front? Yeah, okay, so that's in the foreground yes
And then in photography would you call that the foreground you could yeah?
Yeah, you could good that would technically be wrong
And then I see a shell you would say that's not how I would typically just cuz it's so in the corner, but yeah, you're not technically wrong
I don't think they got to see a shelf with some SPD knee sleeves
Maybe I don't know. I can't oh, there's like a little oh look at that
You see what's on the top shelf there and then on the top shelf. Yes, easy logo
I see a lift hard live easy. I think that's a coast or a koozie. I think I don't know
Is it a cup or is it a thank-you card or oh, maybe it's a thank-you card
Yeah, because it seems to fill the whole space. I forgot we had did we have that on thank-you card? Yeah, we had that
Okay, that's got to be a thank-you card because then to the right of it there
It looks like there's a pioneer fit business card or something. Okay
It's hard to tell it's so in the foreground
so
So foreground ish there. He's got a TV on the wall. Yeah
The bucket in the corner. I bet it says chalk, but that's what I would assume probably not a puke bucket
But you never know yeah
Well you know what I'm kind of wondering about this?
There's one thing coming to my mind.
If you were in this gym, a gym you got to go to,
do you think you could get strong there?
You know, the central point of this, the rack,
is damn near identical to mine.
So I know for a fact you could get strong here.
Strong.
Hell yeah, brother.
You too could become a certified training facility. As a matter of fact, if you haven't,
I've almost, if you haven't yet looked into becoming
a certified training facility through
masssonomics.com slash certified,
I've got one question for you. Now what the hell are you waiting for?
Yeah. What the heck are you waiting for?
Find out more at MassLimics.com.
Just go to our shop actually, you'll see it in there. And if you're an existing
certified training facility, one of our
200 to 300 that exists on our map, make sure you send us
pictures because I'm only going we're only going to feature
training facilities for certified training facility of the week.
Yeah. If you've got a picture, no photo, no feature.
Yeah, you don't you know, you can send more than one picture
if you want to, but you have to send at least one
Do you still have that pull that one pulled up? Yeah
Well, what what was the name of the gym again? I just want to make a note here. That was the
meeting room big Danny the
meeting room
That's Canada
room. That's Canada. All right, let's see. I can't wait to see where we go next week. One of my one of our favorite parts of
the Mastomac podcast now now certified training facility of
the week. Another personal favorite part of mine is when I
get to talk about the strength Co.
Should I start kicking people off? Or do we want to keep
on? Yeah, actually. Yeah. Okay. Let's I'm sick of these people
are out of here. Yeah, they'll have to
listen. Listen along when this comes out to find out what
happened in this wild Ohio trip if we ever get to it. Not a
guarantee at this point. No, no, no, the strength.co. Check out
their Made in America, black-coated iron Olympic plates.
They're the best plates that you can buy for almost any application in the gym.
Whether you're a power lifter, home gym, enthusiast, garage gym, basement gym, wherever in your
house you might have a gym, these are the plates you want to get.
They look cool, if that matters to you
I mean it matters to me. I like them to look cool, and they last they're durable the finish on them
After being used for half a decade in Massimilm X gym almost getting used and abused
They still look pretty much brand new besides a little bit of dust on them
They're priced well
For what you're getting they're a a value buy. And if you go now, they actually have some of the lowest ever
shipping prices that they've had. So check them out at the
strength.co.
All right, now do we talk about our trip? I think so. We better
get to it. Yeah, we've really, really made the people wait on this one,
but I think it's time.
So the start of the trip was a Friday, Saturday morning?
Well, for you Friday night,
because you drove to Sioux Falls Friday night.
Drove to Sioux Falls, stayed at Tommy's house.
I got my usual accommodations in Tommy's basement
whenever we travel somewhere and
We were up at
What time did well we go to bed till like 45?
Well, yeah
We didn't go to bed till like what 11 or 1130 as we're getting the last getting the podcast published for the week
getting last bit of
Triple checking to make sure we don't forget shit and we got to bed at maybe like 1130 and alarms were off at 345.
Yes, I was out like an absolute zombie and went up.
I it normally this doesn't happen to me.
I was so asleep that it took me maybe a minute or two to realize where the heck
I was even at. I was like, where kidnapped?
Yes, I'm like, I have a very particular set of skills.
I make you go on very, very early trips across the U.S.
to look at the pride.
You I will find you.
I will wake you up extremely early to tour gyms across the country.
This is a very specific set of skills.
I'll be specific.
I've been taken again.
This time to... No, it's Ohio again.
No, you keep taking me to Ohio.
It's always Ohio.
Yeah.
Quit it.
Just take me somewhere else at least.
No, so we started at 3 45 in the morning to get a jump.
Well, not to get a jump.
It's just the way we had to do the trip to do everything we wanted to do.
We had a lot to pack in in a short amount of time.
And we get on the plane and boom, there's a fuse blown.
And we have a short connection, a tight connection from Chicago to from Chicago to our connection was like one hour
Yeah, and not even that short, but like yeah, but it was like an hour
It might have been 45 minutes and right about the shortest to let you do and of course the first thing they say is yeah
Because we're in Sioux Falls. We do not have a mechanic on site. It's gonna take him
Like an hour to an hour and a half to get here to look at the problem
We were not sitting by each other and like I'm looking back at the
back of the plane to see you back there like 20 rolls away like yep there's the
connection that's done yeah so immediately we start thinking okay what
the hell do we do next and it's like well we land in Chicago worst-case
scenario as long as we get there, we can drive to Indianapolis.
Because a three hour drive.
Rent a car in Chicago instead of Indy and drive to Indy.
Because a three hour drive for us at this point is nothing.
We're going to be doing a lot of driving.
Yeah, you figured that out.
I wouldn't have probably even been thinking that.
And you said that.
And I'm like, OK, this just looked up for me a little bit.
You are right.
In the worst case scenario, you will drive.
And actually doing the math, it's like maybe we'll you know if this goes
Somewhat like they're saying maybe we'll be like an hour later or something not not really a big deal
Well, so yeah as long as the plane didn't
Stay on the ground for five plus hours. We were gonna be fine. So but but then as we were waiting I was thinking
But is that what's gonna happen because last time we traveled that's exactly what happened
And I'm like I can now that I'm thinking about it
I could definitely see that happening and what would that would do is completely ruin half of our trip
Yeah, we would have missed out on several gym tours if that was the case which would have really sucked
but luckily for us shortly after they said that a guy came onto the plane and he had like a headlamp on or something and, alright, this seems serious,
and then the guy goes, oh, yeah, luckily for us,
the pilot gets on and says, luckily for us,
the mechanic was already at the airport,
he's looked at the fuse, we just have to reboot
the airplane now and we should be good to go.
And they rebooted that airplane, we took off,
we landed, we got to the bathroom,
walked to our gate, which was the next gate over.
Luckily for us, we were like A10.
The gate we had to be at was A11.
So yeah, we literally walked straight off the bathroom,
off the plane into the bathroom, went in.
We were the very last two people on the plane,
and the door closed probably three minutes later.
So.
Didn't the lady checking people in,
she was like talking on the phone or to someone else there
and she said, yeah, the door's closing in three minutes.
That's not gonna work.
Yeah.
Like telling someone else they're not gonna be able
to make it there in time.
Yep, so it was very tight, but we made it.
And that was all that mattered because at that point,
it felt like we were in control going forward.
And we, oh yeah, we touched down in the Indy,
rented our car
Jeep Jeep Compass Trailhawk edition
snow Ford freestyle all three styles had been
Previously rented out so they didn't have any available. I was on the phone for weeks trying to request it for freestyle
I'm like, well, can you go buy one so I can rent it from you?
Just feel more comfortable. I just afford afford free stuff We just couldn't do it
I didn't get to ride to the airport and afford freestyle which was probably your first time ever getting to really ride in the fort
It was actually my first time in one riding in one little different from the inside rather. Oh, yeah
I was when you're in the inside. It's it's a whole another level of class and luxury
Have you ever have you ever been in a box painted Pueblo gold parading around a city
It's a feeling of power yet. You'll never feel your life ever again other you we met other freestyles
We did the secret freestyle wave I'd show you but
We did this like crazy because we went to the airport at like four in the morning
We did this crazy like backroad
Weblo gold Ford Freestyle takeover where everyone's just like peeling out whipping shitties Yeah, yeah, you know how in in Deadwood probably other places, but especially Deadwood they well, of course
There's a motorcycle rally. Everyone knows about the well
everyone knows about the Sturgis motorcycle rally, but also in the Black Hills throughout the year there is
There's a Corvette rally, I'm pretty sure I
Marrow
Camaro rally and I wouldn't be surprised if there's also a Mustang those all seem very believable
I know there's a Corvette one and I'm pretty sure there's a Camaro one and specifically it's like no you drive a Chevy Camaro
Then you come to the Black Hills that's all and then everywhere you go
It's nothing but all the eras of Chevy Camaros all over the place same with Corvette. I
Want to start a freestyle rally
Everyone shows up like people from all over the globe drive their freestyles or trailer
Drive their freestyles or trailer them also one location Well, I'm trying to keep him in the trailer in them
Yeah, they don't want to put unnecessary miles on you don't want to put the miles in so you trailer your Ford freestyle
And you pull it with your day other Ford freestyle
My Ford freestyle has a receiver hit. Oh, yeah. Oh, yeah, of course it does. It's a very
I
Like this weekend showroom Ford freestyle with your
Are we talking this weekend do we say actually all the colors are Pueblo's there's pebble gold Pueblo gray Pueblo red
Oh green
Some of the departments like we have to use this prefix on everything
Yes, all of them are Pueblo.
It's not like ice white.
It's Pueblo white.
Pueblo white.
And it's just the color after that.
Yes, but it's just all sorts of Pueblo.
If anyone doesn't know, if you get a picture with all nine colors of the Ford Freestyle,
a selfie with you and the Freestyle in the picture with all nine colors of the Ford Freestyle a selfie with you and the freestyle in the picture
With all nine that actually counts as a mass Olympics contest win in the hall
I really like that chart someone posted of all the colors listed
Yes, that was really good
You know the one part is there's probably a couple of those colors where they made very few of them
So I'm sure it'd be the easiest challenge to actually be the hardest challenge.
Statistically, it might be the most most difficult one, but we didn't touch down in Indy. We got our
rental car and I think we went straight to Kyle's. Oh no, we stopped. We were going to get some. We're
going to get a burrito on the way to Kyle's. Yeah. And of course, because of tariffs, of course, with everything going on, their dining room because of the
tariffs, that was a kiddo bar.
What was it?
Oh, I think it's just I said, sorry, due to tariffs,
we will be opening two hours late today, so we couldn't go to Chipotle there.
And then in parentheses, it said everything going on.
So then apparently the tariffs hadn't affected Panda Express quite as much.
No, tariffs are not affecting things of Asian varieties.
Yes, obviously.
So we went to Panda Express where they happily took our money and gave us some delicious
food.
I don't know if we talked about it.
We don't have a Panda Express.
We've gone and eaten out on a couple of Mastanomics trips.
Panda Express is freaking good
I suppose you could have enough of it and be tired of it and it's pretty novel to me still
It's true. It's pretty damn good every time I go my wife could eat that almost every day like she's good
If I said go get Panda Express or get it to our house to you every day. She would say yes. Yep
I'm the one slowing it down. But yeah, it always always leaves me satisfied when I said novel. I guess it's not novel
It's kind of just like every
Feel like it's just like every Chinese restaurant, but there's something about the uniformity of it
Yeah, the uniformity and the portions are always pretty big. Yep. I'm a fan of the portions and the price at the price
It's pretty good. Yeah. Yeah, we we've
Ordered I think it might make might make me feel less sick than some other Chinese that I eat sometimes
I could be that could definitely be yeah, so it lived up to the hype like it always does then we went directly to Kyle's and
Man, I'll kyson DIY Jim do it yourself, bro
That's the one the one and only and of course he was in the middle of a little DIY project when we showed up
We had to interrupt it true to form put the tools downtown Kyle put them down
Stop doing it yourself
Stop doing it. Let us do it to you for a little
There's gonna be three of us here all day
And he opened the doors to his garage and ah man
It is so cool when when that thing when you first lay eyes on it very well lit
Yeah, his lighting is I don't actually know if there's anyone that's got their lighting dialed in as well as Kyle
No, I don't know. We've seen a lot of gyms
I don't think anyone has put that much thought and effort into it as him
He knows how to do it himself, and he knows how to light it up
That was a certified training facility and of course, a
supporting member, you'll notice a theme of this as we talk about
all these gyms who went to and if you you're sitting there
saying I'd like you to come to my gym, which a lot of people
are sitting there saying that because a lot of people DM that
the number one and number two things you can do to I mean,
first of all, we got to be going to your area like that's
we do have to become in your state. Random. Yeah. And also, if you live in a bigger state, your portion of the state.
Right. Right. But what will help your chances aside from that stuff
is being a certified training facility and then also, you know, being a supporting
member, we kind of look at that too, like and also supporting us.
Also submitting photos of your certified training facility for the map. And then also, you know, being a supporting member, we kind of look at that too, like, and also supporting us also submitting
photos of your certified training facility for the map.
So it actually makes it very obvious where what we're getting
ourselves into here. But
Kyle's we did a couple videos at Kyle's actually Yep, Kyle's
was did not disappoint. It was very impressive. He has some
things that we have never seen actually in home gyms between
some of his temple of gains machines, the fringe Dane
that he had. I'm trying to think.
He had a PRX, whatever they call their folding wall rack.
Actually, almost none of the things in his gym
we had really ran across before outside of, you know, bars and dumbbells.
And you ever heard of that?
Oh, it's kind of that machine. You can use it for.
Oh, it has those orange letters on the side.
Yeah. What did, uh, have you ever heard of that one? Oh,
freak athlete. Yeah. Okay. I think I've seen that once or
twice. They had one of those too. First time we'd seen one
of those in a home gym so far. Um, it actually seemed like a
fairly nice piece of equipment, you know, we joke because
there's a lot of ads, but we cover that in the gym tour. Yeah, that was all good. We all, yeah. you know? Yeah, we joke because there's a lot of ads and stuff for that.
But we cover that in the gym tour.
Yeah, that was all good.
Yeah, and like you said, we did another video with him
as well, so there will be two videos coming out
of the Kyle DIY experience.
Yes.
Then, I mean, we just, as soon as that was over,
we got in the car and drove to our next one, right?
Our next.
Straight to Jake's about 30 controversy
I've been calling this the Ohio gym tour tour and the number of people several people had to point out that
Kyle and Jake do not live in Ohio which technically correct, but I consider that
Mastinomics gerrymandering when it behooves us for a creative name of a trip
Yep, they're Ohio the Ohio and Indiana gym tour tour.
Doesn't most of it's in Ohio doesn't have the same role of it.
You know, it doesn't flow the same way.
Yeah. So Mastinomics creates its own border.
So for the purpose of this trip, Indy was in Ohio. Mm hmm.
And yeah, went went right to Jake's.
Jake also had an awesome setup.
Three car garage, totally full full big Jake from garage Jim
Jimmy couldn't know even attempt to put a car on that sucker. It was
Racks on racks on racks anyway. He had as many racks and that thing is mass dynamics Jim does
Yeah, he's got any adult very stationed off. Uh-huh like very
He did have these specific zones between the racks and the functional trainers of everything
Yeah, and again very cool Jim cool to see in person because you can see it in the background of his videos a lot of times
so it's cool to see how that whole thing works out and
After we got done with Jake's he was gracious enough to feed us
And we put down some wings and some deep dish pizza
Yeah, that was some of the deepest dish pizza ever.
That must be Indy style.
Pizza like that does not exist around us.
That is not a thing around here.
The wings were tasty, too.
Oh, yeah, it was good.
And that was what we needed.
We hadn't eaten.
Well, actually, we had had Panda Express a few hours before.
But not eating on time or at any sort of time that makes any sense
was a big theme of our trip too because we were always
We were always we stuck to schedule
Almost shockingly well for almost the entire trip
But part of the sacrifice thing we had to sacrifice there was eating at any normal meal
It's like sometimes we had to remind ourselves to eat because it had been so long
Yes, but it did work out great because in our notes you put so, you know
You obviously had the itinerary built but you had everyone's address listed. So it was easy to copy paste and then you had every
You know next spot travel time next spot two hours away next spot
So we out we wouldn't have to like do that calculation over and over and man even when we get behind
We'd somehow make it up
during the tour or whatever else and we just wouldn't hang around as long and we keep going and
Everything I mean there was whole whole days where we were never off by more than ten minutes Which is pretty impressive with the amount of ground we're covering and schedules were bouncing around
Yeah, that was crazy, but then we said, that's enough of this Indiana crap. Let's get back to Ohio.
The great state of Ohio. Yes, it's been too long. Ohio was calling me.
We figured we've been to Ohio now 10 times for Massa.
We actually talked about, we said, which is wild.
There's not outside of the direct, you know, two, three state area where, okay.
North Dakota, South Dakota, Minnesota.
Just it's those three really.
Yeah.
Outside of those, um, there's very few cities I've been to in my life as
many times as Columbus now at this point.
It would be a really short, I just can't think of any actually that I've
been to more than Columbus.
Like I've been to Phoenix a fair number of times, but I've been to Columbus
like 10 times now.
I don't think I've been to Phoenix 11 times
I don't go every year right they drop drop a comment in the YouTube chat. How often are you going to?
Cities that are over you know how more than a state away
Yeah
How many cities have you been to that are at least several states away that you've been to more than 10 times in the last?
10 years
That's about where we are with with Columbus family.
That would be the exception. Yeah.
But that's which is also that gives you what's what makes us even more extreme
is we don't have family in Columbus or Ohio.
You know, we're still getting there that often.
I guess maybe the family is really the friends that we've made a long way there.
That's a very, very good point.
And we're off to Dayton. Yeah, we were off to Dayton doing to big Kurtz got there at Kurtz. Yeah had
Awesome gym again and we took all back roads from Indian. Oh my god
It's crazy is the oddest as you go. I'm just assuming in the US
Especially once you hit the the true, where the land is a little flatter
and the interstate system is built.
The interstate road system is built more as a grid and less as a random patchwork
of lines that wrap around trees and hills and just flat portions for no reason.
Yeah. Yeah.
For the most part, our roads are on some type of grid system.
Does not seem to be the case anywhere in Ohio.
No.
Yeah, so we went to Kurt's, took roughly 45 turns
to get there and we showed up.
I bet we made 30, 40 turns to get there.
That's actually not a good thing.
We told him, like, oh man, it must have taken us
on the most crazy back road and we told Kurt, oh man, you had to turn 40 times to get here. That's not a great. We told them like, oh man, it must have taken us on the most crazy back road.
And we told Kurt, oh man, you had turned 40 times
to get here.
Yeah, that's how it goes.
I'm like, dude, how do you remember how to get anywhere
here?
Yeah, yeah.
So complicated.
But Kurt's gym.
Certified training facility, another supporting member.
Yep.
Awesome to see his gym.
Cause again, some of these where Kurt is,
I mean, the whole gym or the whole garage is set aside.
You know, they're not parking cars in there,
but he's really using, I don't know,
two thirds of it as his gym probably.
And just seeing how he makes use of the space
and also seeing it from multiple angles
because, and I do the same thing in mine,
typically you film from one or two angles
You know for the most part so just getting the feel for the entire space is really cool to see how oh
Yeah, is the whole thing light out? Yep
Then we were probably done there
By like 830 or 9 p.m.. Something like that. Yeah, it's like 9 p.m.. It was dark. I think and
we drove
for over two hours in the dark north to
Bowling or Toledo. Yeah, we stayed in bowling green
For the we made it for bowling greens college graduate
Yeah, it was like spring break the number of people of Rome in the streets
It was wild and we got Taco Bell at I think 1130pm to go and went and found
a hotel, the local bowling green Hampton and went inside and ate
our midnight Taco Bell and not being drunk just not having even
had a beer alcoholic beverage.
You're not doing it until you're eating Taco Bell and immediately
laying down and going to bed sober.
So our morning started at 330 or 345am and our day finished that
first day after midnight. Yeah. So that was a long one. About 20
hours right off the bat is always always a tough one. Yeah.
And then it all went really well, though. It did. It did.
When as good as like a 20-hour
20 hour crazy travel arrangement can go
Yeah
And then we had to wake up the next morning kind of early again because we still had about 45 minutes to drive to go
To Jose's but I felt pretty good slept good that night, you know after being on such a deficit the first day
we got a breakfast hit the road and
Yeah, I went to Jose's and man,
we've seen some home gyms now,
but Jose's is one that can take your breath away
if you're not ready for it.
It is impressive.
Yeah, Jose's has quite the basement gym.
Just on a different level.
I mean, all of the home gyms are impressive, absolutely,
but Jose's is just on another level of what is possible in a home gym.
It was really, really cool.
Yeah, supporting member, Big Jose.
And we had, like, Kurt, Kyle.
I mean, most of the people we had met many times.
Right, that's actually a good point, yes.
Jose we had only met just at the Arnold this year.
Like I really didn't even know about Jose prior to just a few
months ago. So we probably knew him the least,
but didn't matter.
That's what we said. We said, we don't know Jose that well.
You know, this tour probably could be a lot shorter than the
other ones just cause we don't have this history with each
other. It was about an hour.
It was a little over an hour long.
So that did not slow it down. Yeah. that Jose's ended up being a pretty long tour. There was a lot of
ground to cover in that one though. Was that that's the longest one of the trip? I think it was.
Yes, I'm pretty sure Jose's was the longest. Yeah. Oh, crazy, Jim, though. You just you'll just have
to see the tour when it comes out. You know, it's the prime fitness and the comp gear plates and all you have a comps powerlifting
a legal lots and dumbbells. Yeah, he had a lot of things in
there we have not seen before. He had the four tier prime
dumbbell. The infamous four tier prime dumbbell rack the version
that we did the video on that I have the two Alibaba comparable sliding bottom shelf dumbbell racks and that was the first time I ever got to see the Prime 1 in person.
And Jose even asked me, he's like, well, how does it, you know, he had seen the video and he knew the story and he's like, how does it compare?
And I would say the Prime 1 does have a little more fine-tuned polish to it.
Yeah, it's a little, it's a little more more polish which you would hope for at right price and everything considered
I guess what I told Tommy maybe is really when I thought about it. I
Actually, don't know the Alibaba ones. Maybe even a better fit
Mastanomics Jim has less nice still they're just more like
Like a rack like a rack. That's just very much. You know, it's nice still. They're just more like a rack.
Like a rack that's just very much three by three.
Yeah, just the essentials.
Yeah, it's more industrial almost.
Not industrial in terms of stronger or anything,
but just more kind of.
Utilitarian in design.
Yeah, utilitarian's a good word for it.
But it was, the prime one I would say is nicer.
Oh yeah, I don't think you could debate that it's nicer for sure, right?
All right. I don't know if it's
You know
like
$6,000 nice. Yeah
But that's for you to decide, you know, you buy one listener you buy one and you decide you tell us
So after no way Jose, where did we meander to?
Well, I was getting worried because at this point,
we hadn't seen any rain yet in Ohio.
And luckily, when we got out of the car with him,
it rained and it basically rained until we left.
Yes.
That's a theme from our whole trip.
And also, we talked about it.
We did not realize this.
You know, we're from the Midwest, obviously.
We live in South Dakota, obviously, the Midwest, and people might like
to shit on the weather here. But say what you want. This part of
the country summers are pretty banging spring summer, the sun
is out. The sun is shining. People are having a good time.
You get the occasional thunderstorm severe weather,
but that's not the norm. You know, for the most part, summers are the sunny, great experience.
And I guess what I took away from this trip is that Ohio is.
Super cloudy all the time.
I think Kevin told us that they have more cloudy days than Portland.
Said Portland has more rain, but Ohio has more cloudy days.
And man, that verify starts to wear on a guy after a while.
I don't know how those people, I don't know how those people put up with it out
there, but that was super sunny and warm in South Dakota the whole time.
Oh, every day my wife's like, Oh, it's 80 degrees and sunny here and no breeze.
It's just so nice.
And I'm like, Oh yeah, it's like 50 rainy, super windy, just really pleasant.
It's kind of crazy.
You know, we go to the Arnold in March,
be very beginning March, actually technically this year
in February and it's like 30 to 50 most days.
And then we come again in May and it's like 50 most days.
It just kind of is what it is I guess.
Yeah.
But yeah, we made our way from Toledo to Cleveland to Big Kevin's house.
We call those of us that have been to Cleveland, we call it the land.
Obviously.
Yeah.
If you're very familiar with the city.
Got to Big Kevin's.
Kevin's buddy Andrew was there to greet us as well a couple along with their spouses right there and their children
They really rolled out the welcome mat for us. They gave us some delicious little little things the lion sandwiches
Yeah, we could just eat a hundred of them and still go back for more
Actually, that was worth talking about we talked about it in the car afterwards. I said
We both have have those.
Like, you know, people, like we make those in my house.
You know, Kevin made them there.
You talked about you guys having them at your place.
And I said, like five or more years ago,
I don't really remember ever having those anywhere.
When I was 20, those had not been invented yet, I swear.
So I think those are a recent invention
It's a reason they're really good of science. Yeah, like that's a modern
Modern Marvel is it is it the King's Hawaiian bun? Is that what it is?
You know the kind of I think it's like a sweeter bun
Maybe either way you do that you kind of just make a little ham and cheese out of it
But then it also has some type of like sweet glaze that goes on it and you put them in like
baking tray
Yeah, brownie brownie container almost type of so you basically make I don't know 20 of those sandwiches at a time because they're
Little miniature slider things, but you can just eat unlimited of them because they're so
There's savory but at the same time they're sweet. So just keeps you wanting more. It does keep you coming back
They always keep you coming back for more I
Think those are a pretty modern invention though
I think drop a comment down in the YouTube if you've had one of those prior to ten years ago
Let us know when those were invented. Yeah
So we had a couple of those then we went and did Kevin's oh man we did Kevin's gym and
Kevin had a couple DIY things in his gym that really really got me going they were very impressive
I'm not gonna give it all the way off to watch the video, but man there was just he had two things that I thought
The one specifically but how is how does this not a product how are people not selling this how have manufacturers not made this?
it's the perfect solution to this actual problem on
multiple levels and I
Don't know no one's done it yet Kevin's on to something there
You have some good things and Kevin's you got to watch the I can't spoil any of the stuff came up
Helped him workshop a new tagline for his gym right in the middle of the video you have to watch that
Yes, I really think that's gonna stick.
I would say I do like his PR bell.
That's a video.
The PR bell was amazing.
Kevin's got a PR bell.
We can spoil the surprise with this, I think.
Is it like a boxing ring bell?
He said it was an actual boxing ring bell.
Oh, and you get the PR and you get
that little tiny hammer to hit that thing with. There's not a more
satisfying bell to ring than that. Right. He also has the
his grip. He has a grip challenge for his gym. I got to
try it live. You'll just have to watch to see if I totally
embarrassed myself or if I passed the test how you compare
to some of the other greats that have passed through that
gym. Some of the other great gym tours that have toured the past.
That was good.
And Kevin's also got some good art, you know,
some of his personal artwork.
Oh yeah, very impressive art.
Very impressive selection of handmade art on those walls
and massonomics photos on those walls.
Yeah, so that was fun.
And Big Andrew was there too.
So then the four of us.
And the other cool thing about Kevin's is this,
he will be moving.
So his, this house and this gym has been forever
immortalized.
Capsulized.
Yes, with the massonomics gym tour.
I think that's pretty cool.
So we'll have to go back for when he's got the new one.
Yeah.
Check it out.
But then the four of us all loaded up and headed to Ohio Pico just towards the southwest side of Cleveland and some other Brunswick, I guess is where I think Strongsville Brunswick somewhere
around there. And we met up there with Nick, of course, of Ohio P Pi. Nick and Jenna showed up. Live Large owner, Ohio
Pi Co owner, past guest on the Mastonomics podcast. Then who else met us there? Dr. Tati
Waffles came and got to meet him for the first time. The doctor was in the house. Yes, he
was. Yeah, got to meet him. Oh, is it Kevin, Andrew, Dr. Taddy Waffles, Nick, Jenna,
and then Nate's buddy Tom showed up.
Yes, but Tom's buddy Nate did not show up.
Tom's buddies, Tom was there, I'm just gonna call him Tom.
Tom's buddy Nate did not show, so because of that,
he is now Tom's buddy Nate. There's been a role reversal
Yes, that is correct and big big Tom was there looking big too. Yeah, he was I told him that and hitting the weights
Yeah, I think looking jacked has been taking life's pretty serious around them weights
Was that everyone that was there? I think so
Okay, be funny if we forget
We're clearly talking to everyone the whole time. We'll just forget someone
Ohio pico feasted on Ohio pike. Yeah, we got four different pies
I mean we get we've just trying with the Arnold but believe it or not even better when they're fresh
very good
It's your favorite one. Oh boy
That's actually hard for me. They had their special fancy pepperoni.
That was pretty good.
Especially once you got their honey hot sauce on there.
That really did it for me.
But they had some other,
the pickle one was pretty good from uniqueness.
I really, it's just, that's a secret menu item.
I like that pickle one.
Yeah, that one was really good.
Ohio Pico is also really, really cool inside.
Yeah, that's it. Yes, they have created a vibe and ambiance on there that very few places can
Could replicate or compete with just from the artwork on the walls to the neon signs to the
Painting the the sign painting on the windows. Yeah, they got it down. They've created a really cool spot there
Now like the time I was so full and I was like I don't want any more of this but now I like right now today
I wish I had some of that leftover. Oh, yeah. Well, and then he gave us a bunch of cookies
Yeah, he said, you know threw down about ten cookies before he took off and yeah had to pick through just about all
I mean I went in there with the plan of I'm doing some damage here. And yeah, I felt
Uncomfortably just you just saw that sugar. I don't eat that much sugar
So when I'm putting down multiple cookies like yeah, you feel that
But like juju moofoo's house all over again
Just like cookie rush yeah
But that was good and from there we got to go right to dr.
Tatti waffles who happened to be very simply just down the road. I don't know maybe five minutes away
Oh got to go right to Dr. Tattiwaffles who happened to be just down the road. I don't know, maybe five minutes away. Oh, we stopped at that gas station. That gas station had nitro cold
brew on tap, like on an actual tap. And maybe that's normal in other parts of the country.
I've never seen that in a gas station. That was probably the best gas station coffee I've
ever had.
It was really good.
That was damn delicious. So we got that, went to Dr. Tattiwaffles and he had-
Dr. Tattiwaffles, we had never met dr. Tatti waffles never or so and
Speak to the testament just to how great and massonomic supporters and followers and fans are supporting member dr. Tatti waffles never met him
By the time by the time we left. I just felt like we've known this guy for years. I mean it was
Welcomed us into his gym with open arms.
He had prepared cheese platters for us, donuts, donuts,
beverages. I mean, talk about hospitality.
That's an interesting thing about doing a gym tour that from
watching it, you wouldn't pick up on this is a lot of times.
We're touring a gym. We also end up being in the person's house and like
Cuz we're there four times we meet meet their family
Yeah, cuz we're there for an hour and a half to two hours
Which usually means you need to go pee at some point or drink some water
So yeah, we've been inside a lot. Just think about how often just listeners
How often do you go into someone's house that you've never met before?
Not maybe once a year maybe maybe even less than that, you know, depending on if you have kids or not
I mean if you're like nine times in two days, yeah
So you might just go months on end maybe even years on end without going into someone's house
You've never met. Yeah, we do it nine times in two days and most these people we have met but never been in their house
And yeah, nine of them in two days. It's not something you typically experience in life.
No, no, it is funny.
Dr. Taddy Waffles, not to give it all away again,
you'll see it when his gym tour comes out,
but very cool home garage gym.
And there's a theme of his garage gym
with Beyond Power Vultras.
Yes.
That is quite crazy, not crazy, it's just really cool.
And a lot of ingenuity into what he.
Yeah, there's a lot, even not even just the Power Vulture,
but a couple other things he did just in terms of ingenuity
is really, really cool, I think.
Yeah, we were very impressed with that one.
Yeah, and then was that our, then we were done in the land and we headed back to our real motherland
Which is Columbus the bus?
Yeah, I've been to the bed in Ohio all day day and a half here and we still haven't been in Columbus
Let's get to Columbus. Yeah
And when we drove by the convention center, oh we're both like like to not be inside
Yeah, it felt so weird being there at this time a year to like oh, it's not the Arnold
It was so weird though because we we came in the same direction that we go would be down the same from our hotel
We go down the same section of interstate. There's the same exits the you see it all it's like no. I'm not ready to go back yet. Yeah
But then we went to big big Hogan's
home gym and
Nicole was there to actually shot some videos
Yes them for their their Instagram and their stuff that they're making
Yes them for their their Instagram and their stuff that they're making
So that was that was fun. And then we did the home gym tour there with him and his is a one
long one stall garage
It's got a lot of really cool strongman equipment and kind of the way that he stores everything in there Yeah, actually surprising how much stuff he has but then also
paradoxically
How much space it feels like yeah, that's what he had, has an incredibly efficient usage of space because he, he manages to have a lot of stuff.
And actually out of everyone we went to, I think he had the most, I mean, he might have had the most strongman stuff out of any home gym we've gone to so far.
He might have just a good variety of items and still manages, manages like you were saying to have a decent amount of open floor space
you know, that's that's always tough in a home gym because you got to have self-restraint to not just pack all the empty spaces and
He has managed to keep some some floor space to work with. Yeah
That did that wrap up her well, we also got to partake in the
latest grip challenge sweeping the nation Oh, the orange crush
grip challenge at Big Hogan's that's right we got to I got to
kind of do two gym grip challenges over the gym tour
tour. So explain what the orange crush grip challenges the orange
crushes you take the orange?
Fat grip fat grips, which is the largest one you attach it to a rep pep and dumbbell
And you just see how heavy a one you can grip and you just you let her ride and
Hogan said the previous world record set by him was 60 pounds
We came in I got him to re break his own
record. He broke his own world record, which is great to see.
I tapped out at 80. I got 80. That was the highest one I got.
And you wrote it all the way up to 100. Didn't you? To 100.
Yeah, what what starts to be the challenge with that is that
orange grip is quite large. And on the rep and it has the side
rails. So as it gets heavier, it starts to rotate away from you a little bit,
which basically means the entire weight of the dumbbell is being crushed against
the side rail of your hand while it starts rotating. Uh, I'm curious.
I don't know what would actually be easier,
a real dumbbell or the rep in because is the crushing sensation too much and
does that hinder you? Or if that wasn't there from it spinning?
Could you do more on a regular? I'm not sure yeah
But we'll never know because it's just the orange crush grip challenge
We won't we got to put our names on the leaderboard
but speaking of that that brings me to this week's sack segment tanner sack time and
What's in the sack this showed up at my door today. I'm not sure if you're familiar with these.
Oh, nice.
These were sent in the mail to me by our big friend,
our good friend, Dr. Hogan.
Now you can, you can.
I can partake in the latest grip challenge,
sweeping the nation.
So that way, next time we're back at Hogan's,
you'll be ready to move your name up the board.
Yep, yep, I can get to practicing with my own.
I mean, he sent me to you only need one for this challenge. So maybe I'll have to find some some soul to give the second one to.
But I'm now the proud owner of the fat grips extreme.
These things are big. Hogan.
Yeah. These are big.
Also hooked us up with the Vienna Barbell Club.
Oh, yeah. And we're there. Yep. And everyone gave us us sticker. I mean we got we got a lot of stickers and yeah, actually pretty much everyone we went to
We left with something whether it was stickers food shirts
Kurt gave us hot sauce hot sauce
Yep cans beverages. Yeah, every everywhere we went people had something to send us on our way with we were well cared for on the trip
Yep
Then we left Hogan's
Made our way to the far west side of Columbus because the next day we had to be in London, Ohio
And oh before bed we went and stopped and got Chipotle because it was right by the hotel
And I don't know eating eating a Chipotle burrito
at like 11 o'clock and trying to go right to bed,
maybe not the best move.
That was by far my worst night of sleep.
That was the worst night of sleep I've had
on a Mastonomics trip in a while.
And usually, usually we're not having great sleep
because you're just thinking about so many things.
Did you do this right?
Did this go right?
What's gonna happen the next day?
Just play and throw these scenarios in your brain because we have a lot of time and effort and money wrapped up into
This and you want it to be perfect
But lately I actually have been sleeping pretty good on these trips that that was not a good night of sleep for me
Me there it was I almost didn't even sleep that
Not really sure that I slept much at all actually
Yeah, I heard you rolling around a few times
and I heard you turning the sound machine on.
I'm like, ah, him too.
Yeah.
Yeah.
And then I'm like, am I cold or hot
or both at the same time?
That, yes.
Yep, exactly.
It's kind of how I felt.
I don't think it helps though
when you just eat all that garbage.
Right. Just having, I shouldn't say garbage, but just, I don't think it helps though, what you just eat all that garbage, like. Right.
Just having, I shouldn't say garbage,
but just, I don't normally crush pizza
and cookies and donuts and then Chipotle.
And then also drink caffeine all day long.
I don't normally do that.
That's actually part of it too.
In a typical day.
Yeah, I was, you know, we had to have an afternoon,
that afternoon nitro cold brew,
because I'm like, I got to do something to make sure.
You know, when you're doing a home gym tour,
you can't be like falling asleep.
No, or low on energy.
You know, there's a little bit of a personality.
I mean, when we're on camera, we are ourselves,
I would say pretty much 100%,
but it's also just like,
it's maybe a little bit more exciting version of ourselves.
You gotta pay attention what's going on. You gotta be ready to
go.
Like when you know, sometimes you're like, Oh, you got almost
got to just like shake it out or get going, get ready. Yeah,
it's also funny. We all we record all of our tours in one
take. And we usually brief people on that. But whose was it
then?
Dr. Taddy off was like, okay, yeah, just so you know,
we gave everyone the speech like once we get going,
we just roll with it.
Doesn't matter if we say something dumb, whatever.
I mean, if it's really bad, we'll cut it out, whatever.
But for the most part, I mean, it's just,
yeah, go and whatever happens, happens.
So he's like, all right, yeah, sounds good.
And I kind of give, I'll stand in front.
I usually give Tanner the little nod
and I kind of do a little walk into him with the camera.
And I can't even remember, I give you the nod.
I walk in and what's up?
I mess up like the second word I said.
I go, stop, stop, stop.
Which I don't know if we've ever done that.
No, I usually don't mess up like the second.
I might, I mess things up throughout the recording,
but it's usually, you don't want to mess up the first couple words you know it's less
than funny yeah and you're like no no no we can't mess up that yeah so we had to
reset that one which is the first time but that was the time to do it right but
then our final day of the trip waking up Monday heading to elite
FTS compound in the s4 compound compound in London, of course raining again
Natural it is having been there before it is kind of a little different
It's like no actually, you know, I we know how to get to this little you know what to look for
You know what you're doing. It's yeah way less nervous less nervous. I was probably, I was nervous the first time.
I was very nervous the first time.
And this one, I'm not gonna say like I wasn't nervous at all,
but it kind of just like, yeah, it was more of an excitement.
Like, oh yeah, we've done this before.
We know what's gonna go on.
It was more like, I think if anything,
it was the excitement of, oh,
what is he gonna talk to about us this time?
What are we gonna cover?
But before we did that even, we did a gym tour.
And also when we walk in, it's got our the screen when you come in the
building, like to the receptionist area, it's got the thing like welcome to
tan, Tanner and Tommy of massonomics and got like our pictures on the thing.
And that is pretty cool. It is. You know, it's a cool way to welcome people
having them on screen there. It's yes. Yeah, so we but we went in and
You know, you're kind of hanging out in the gym for five or ten minutes and then Dave just pops out of some corner
Just like material comes out of some back door under a month laying under a monolith the whole time. He's like
It's got a trap door under one of the monolith. Yeah heard heard the sound of a spider bar banging around and he just said awakens in
But he popped out and I don't know within 10 minutes
We had we were recording the the home gym tour or the left
Yes, Jim tour and I gotta say I you know
I don't follow every piece of content Dave does but I feel like you kind of get a different side of Dave in our gym
Tour that you don't typically see well, I'm telling you, it's a good gym tour. I think like there was a very
comfortable walking around. Oh, it was. And I don't know if for sure from a
technical standpoint and just from a planning, we couldn't have done this one
the last time because we didn't know what we were doing. Right. Um, but to me,
this just is kind of the culmination of what we've been able
to achieve with these gym tours so far of knowing the right people, knowing how to film
them, knowing how to pace these things, keeping it entertaining. I mean, you could argue that
Dave's borderline gets closer to a podcast than most because of the stories he makes
it awesome.
Yeah. And you
know, elite FTS is too big to go over every piece of equipment.
I mean, it would be a seven hour gym tour. But as far as
actually part of what we know about having done so many gym
tours, when we walk into a space, we start like thinking
like, Okay, are we going to talk about everything? Right? Like,
how detailed are we going to go here? Because we want the gym
tour to be at least 20 minutes. We don't want to be five hours.
We know something like that's probably
going to be in the 50 minute mark.
And yeah, just going through the things.
And you were calling out things that you
thought seemed interesting.
And Dave had things.
Yeah, Dave had basically a story for everything
or a reason for why it exists.
And yeah, he's got some crazy back history on a lot of the pieces and
you know just talking about what they can do at elite FTS and it was I
Thought it was a really awesome tour and then it looks it's so big that just it films really nicely like that one looks
So good on camera watching it back. It's
I'm excited for people to see that one.
And that's gonna be the first one we come out with
from this tour.
So this, by the time you're listening to it,
the tour that just came out was the Strength Co. Tour
with Big Grant at Costa Mesa Strength Co.
And I'm, I'm actually still gonna watch that one.
And that one's been a long enough ago that I'm like, this will be a little fresh to me.
So that one I believe is going to be pretty cool.
Uh, especially if you're a supporter of the strength, Co grant starting strength,
anything like that, I think you'll particularly appreciate it.
You hope you like gym tours in general, you're going to like it.
And then the one that'll follow that, the one that'll come out a few days after this
podcast comes out will be that elite
FTS gym tour with Dave. Really excited for that one. I think a
lot of people are going to watch that and just
if you're a fan of anything, Dave Tate, Westside, elite FTS,
home gyms, if you're a fan of any of those gym equipment,
equipment, like the stories on gym equipment
Yeah, it's just it's such a good you know it does have some things that remind me of the Donnie Thompson one to a certain extent you know that they and
there are some parallels between the guys but
It's just it's a really good gym tour. It's a really good people need to watch that one
I'm sure he's got it
We actually talked to him about it that he's done some other gym tours before with some other people and I just I can't imagine
There's a more a better anything better on that elite FTS gym other gym tours before with some other people. And I just I can't imagine there's a more a better anything better
on that elite FTS gym than what we did with him.
I agree.
Yeah. Well, and also is kind of on our benefit.
We're so practiced at gym tours at that point.
I'm like, oh, this would be easy.
It just we just did eight of them in the last 24 hours.
We've done damn near eight hours of gym tours.
Yes.
Really got the formula down quite well right now.
Uh-huh.
Uh-huh.
Once we finished the tour at Elite FTS, what did we take?
Like a 10-minute piss break?
I don't even know if it was that long.
I mean, we peed and sat at the podcast table
and basically put the headphones on and started talking. And we were talking for a few minutes and then Dave goes, okay
Are we recording are we good and the guy the guy says yep, and we just continued talking and went right into it
Yes, that's right right into chicken Dave lead with chicken bakes this time. He got right to the point. Actually, that's a great
We were saying that's a great way to start the podcast is just get the chit chat
Just ignore it and get straight to it. And that's what he said. He's like, I'm gonna get right to it What's the deal with chicken bakes? Yeah, and that's a great way to start the podcast is just get the chit chat Just ignore it and get straight to it. And that's what he said. He's like, I'm gonna get right to it
What's the deal with chicken bakes? Yeah, and that's a great way to get it going
Yeah, that's smart and he is a he studies the art of what he's doing in the art of it
Maybe we talk about it on the podcast and no doubt that's something he picked up somewhere
You know along the way and I do like that. Yeah, that that is good. Yeah, especially if you're
someone you've already had on before. Right? It makes sense
right that we don't need to cover the backstory and all that
stuff. Right? Yeah, and we talked probably recording for
was it two and a half hours about two and a half. Yeah, we
went a little over two without a bathroom break and then someone finally tapped had to piss
so
fucking bad
Before we did that bathroom break I but I thought we were probably wrapped I did too
I thought we were wrapping up not gonna make him take a break when we have five minutes left
But I thought that for like 20 minutes. There's
Probably I don't know what the time if it would be like
145 to 2 hour mark I had to piss
Like the worst I've had to pee my pants in a long time I was like I
Don't know how I got on the other side. I was I mean I had to pee but I could still hold it
I don't know how I got like cuz normally that's not the case. Yeah
Yeah, but yeah, we covered I mean we covered home, you know people have to listen the episode
But we covered home gyms gym equipment
Just what we're doing with mass anomics. I mean it was a good conversation, you know, I had a lot of fun
We probably just like if we have someone on we're gonna cover some of the same
We're gonna talk about some of the same stuff again with some of the second time
We probably talked about some similar things
to the first time we're on, no doubt.
But I think there's a lot of new stuff in there too.
I think so, yeah, yeah.
And it's a different perspective.
If you've listened to 200 or 475 episodes
of the Mastodonomics podcast,
and you've also listened to the first Dave Tate episode,
you know that it's a little different
than with him interviewing us,
it's a little bit different than what we talk about when it's just you and I.
Yes.
And of course we had to put a little Mastamix flare on it.
We had to flip it back on Dave a little bit too.
So stay tuned.
Make sure you watch out rush more, some overrated underrated.
We busted out some horse stall mat coasters for them on the episode.
And yeah, it was a good time.
It was fun.
It's a cool experience going there and being a part of that.
And we had thought, yes, it absolutely is.
And I think we kind of said, you know,
going there once seemed kind of crazy
and definitely didn't ever think two would be.
I thought for sure, you know,
the first time we did that one, it was like, whew,
knocked that one off the bucket list, pretty sweet. Glad we could, you know, I didn't did that one was like whoof Knocked that one off the bucket list pretty sweet glad we could say, you know
I didn't really ever think we'd go back a second time some days, right?
Right. It was very cool to be able to be a part of that again
Yes, still so crazy to me because like when I started lifting
Like this style
Over 15 years ago now, you know where I seriously got he was like one of the first people that I was ever following
and reading his stuff, like maybe 16 or 17 years ago.
And I was like a fan of this guy.
And the fact now that we've been there a couple of times,
been on his podcast twice, it still is a little surreal.
And it's also, I'm not going to say we're like tight,
close personal friends of Dave's of course
But like when you're sitting around there talking even after it's over. It's like oh, we're kind of just like yeah
It just we were talking business. We were talking content. We're talking all types of stuff
It's like now we're all just doing this. You know we're all in this together here. I'll try to write take a shot at this
Yes, that is exactly what it feels like which is is, which is pretty cool. We don't know when
the episode is going to come out for sure. He didn't know. I don't know that he makes, you know,
I'm sure he's he and his group all decide that together of when it's actually going to come out.
So he said, maybe it'll get bumped up, you know, because some of his have been coming out months
after they're recorded. So that's probably possible. He kind of alluded to the fact that maybe it would be
a little bit sooner than that, but we don't really know.
Got done there and we, oh, we were initially talking about
is there a way we can get a workout in while we're there?
And we actually kind of, we brought our stuff,
we were planning on doing the workout
after we finished recording,
because we thought there was going to be enough time.
And then by the time we, we.
We're shooting the shit with Dave after the, it's just sitting at the podcast
table still after two and a half hours of recording, talk to them after an hour
of recording a gym tour, after two and a half hours of recording, 30 minutes of
free recording and then sitting around for another hour
just continuing to bullshit.
And I kinda looked at the clock once,
and I'm like, oh, we'd have to stop doing this now
if we're gonna go lift.
But then I'm like, I also think if we're gonna go,
when we're gonna go lift,
Dave's probably gonna leave at that point.
I'm like, if we're here, I think there's more value
in sitting around bullshitting with Dave
than there is getting him on the road.
And so we didn't get to Lyft, but it was in,
instead we got to hang out with Dave and bullshit,
which that was pretty sweet.
Yeah, yeah, very cool.
Got done there and headed to Dayton. Of course. It was raining the whole way again
For some reason got stuck on the road for like 40 minutes because there was like an accident or something
Yeah, no, we're not doing a good job. If our timeline would have been tighter
We would have never made it to the airport on time. I mean, it's like the middle of the country
There's nothing going on on some random. There was a line of cars like five miles long.
It went forever.
But we did make it to the airport.
And yeah, from there, the only downside
was there was kind of the whole trip, the travel,
was we had somewhat of a long layover in Chicago,
like three-ish hours.
Also, we've got to say, we were both,
I've done this several times and it always shocks me,
is a lot of times when you fly into Chicago,
they take you directly over downtown.
And it is just impressive, the size of Chicago.
We had a really good view this time.
Yeah, it was a clear day, really good view.
Man, just the skyline and
whatever they're close it is to the water. Yeah, whatever their park is. And if you didn't know
any better, you'd be like, Oh, this city's on the ocean. I'm on the ocean here. And yeah, it's just,
it's so cool. And that's in our part of the Midwest. And it's so vast. It just goes for, Oh,
did I took a picture when we were leaving at night then and It's just it's unlimited as far as you can see just city lights
It goes and the entire time the plane's going it's just going and going and going and going and you just you're still over the city
Still over the city
Yeah, Chicago isn't a city you hear a whole lot about in our part of the country because it's I think like 12 hours away
right
But yeah, Chicago, pretty impressive.
The Big Apple.
Yes, the city that never sleeps.
The Windy City. That's actually what it is, isn't it?
I think so.
Yeah.
I like it better when we use fake ones, wrong ones.
We last thing we had a macaroni grill in the
airport in Chicago. Mm hmm. Got back to crew falls at almost
11pm. Then I hopped in the Ford Freestyle for the three hour
trek back to western northeast South Dakota got inside my
house a little before 2 a.m.
It's too late.
Got a quick nap in before getting up Tuesday morning,
the following morning at 6 a.m.
to get the kids ready to go to school and go to work.
It's almost too easy.
Don't wanna sleep too much, you get all groggy.
Got a four hour nap after several nights of four hour naps, piled one more four hour nap and then you got a good thing going why ruin it? Yeah, and then back to work
Trying to play catch up ever since this week has been tough. It's been yeah, and in case people don't know
The massonomics wheel never stops turning you just got to get right back at it. We're all the neck we got editing videos
You know almost like oh shit. We got a lot of stuff to get ready in videos ordering merch getting merch designs ready
I mean, it's just talking about the meat some things. It's
It's just non-stop
It really is not it's like man we've been gone for few days. We got to catch up on we got stuff to get
Well, that's also I mean it was over the weekend. It's like or getting orders when yeah
It was over the weekend, and then I'm getting back
You know we missed Monday, but there still is just you need to spend damn near four hours
Just getting caught up on everything and even then you're not caught up on everything
But you're caught up on the most urgent items, and then it's like okay I guess I'll get caught up on the. And even then you're not caught up on everything, but you're caught up on the most urgent items.
And then it's like, okay, I guess I'll get caught up
on the rest as the week goes by.
But yeah, it's getting tougher and tougher
as the months go by to do these things.
The positive of all that, we're busy
because Mathsomics is going well.
So, you know, the opposite would be worse.
That's right.
If we didn't have anything going on.
Exactly, it's a good problem to have.
Is there anything else on the trip, or is that wrapped up?
Watch that we, so the synopsis was three days,
four flights, 730 miles, I saw on the odometer
of the car rental, we drove 730 miles I saw on the odometer of the car rental.
We drove 730 miles. Just a smooth 730 and a, what were we driving again?
