Starting point is 00:00:00 Thanks for what you do with your podcasts and all the rest. You're doing a great job. Hope everybody keeps tuning in. Episode four 84 of the massonomics podcast. We are getting dangerously close to 500. It'd be crazy if we had something really cool planned for episode 500, wouldn't it? Oh man. Now would be the time to start thinking about that. Cause it'll be crazy if we had something really cool planned for episode 500 when that tall man Now would be the time to start thinking about that because it'll be here before you know it
Starting point is 00:00:50 Yeah, that'd be wild if we had something really friggin sweet plan for episode 500 that we're not gonna tell anyone about God what would those crazy sons of bitches do more on that in about 16 weeks from now? Yeah We just wrapped up another more on that in about 16 weeks from now. Stay tuned. Yeah. We just wrapped up another excellent edition of the Mastinomics pre-show. That's the show before the show. The only way you get on the pre-show is by becoming a supporting member.
Starting point is 00:01:15 And quote from Big Curt this week, as we just wrap up the Mastinomics pre-show, he said, that pre-show blew my tits clean off. That's how good it was. What everyone was thinking. Everyone was also thinking, wow, did you guys get a new sponsor of the massonomics podcasts and the answer is yes. Yes, we did.
Starting point is 00:01:36 It's elite FTS. Check them out at elite FTS.com. You know, we'll lead FTS. They focused trust strength, uh, Dave Tate and the group at Elite FTS, everyone's familiar with them, but are you familiar with the Mathsonomics discount code? It's Mass 10 and it'll save you 10% on most things on their website.
Starting point is 00:01:56 There are a few exclusions that apply. They're actually having a 20% site-wide sale right now. So I believe the way that that works is something like bands. They're gonna be 20% off wide sale right now, so I believe that work the way that that works is something like bands They're gonna be 20% off a very popular item on their site But then you can also hop in there with code mass 10 and save an extra 10% off beyond that One other thing I would know that with the lead FTS is the thin press bars Yeah, Tommy and I got an exclusive look at. Yeah, have you seen this?
Starting point is 00:02:27 Have you heard about this? We actually have seen this, we have heard about this. When we were at Elite FTS compound, we got a sneak peek at the thin press bars. And I gotta say, I was pretty intrigued by the logic behind the thin press bar. It makes a lot of sense once he was explaining the reasoning behind it and why it needs to exist and it did I've been pretty interested in seeing those online
Starting point is 00:02:53 Yeah, and those just came for sale and I believe You could use code mass 10 when you purchase those even so check it all out at elite FTS calm This episode is also brought to you by juggernaut AI juggernaut AI is the programming that Tanner and I had both been running to prepare for this potential meat that's on the horizon. Starting point is 00:04:22 This episode 484 is a big one for Mathsonomics. We're recording it here on the ninth, July ninth. It's gonna come out on the 13th and 14th of July, the Sunday Monday, and of course, that week, next week is Lift Hard, Live Easy Classic Week. So congratulations for all of those of you that celebrate whether you come here to descend upon western northeast South Dakota or you just celebrate it from afar, from wherever you're at.
Starting point is 00:04:55 It's time, right? I mean, there's no the haze got to be in the barn. It's actually really hard to believe. It really feels like it's stuck up on me this year. How quick it got here. When they start making years go by so fast, how many days were in this one? It's like you always said,
Starting point is 00:05:14 the meso cycles are short but the years are long. Sorry, the meso cycles are long but the years are short. Isn't that still true to this day? Yes it is. The meso, what is it, the meso cycles are well, I think what you actually said is the workouts are long But the meso cycles are short. I think is what you actually said All the same principle basically and it is true where it's like it one year goes by crazy fast I it literally feels like it was just Lift hard live easy classic too, you know, I see the pictures or videos pop up from it
Starting point is 00:05:47 I'm like that feels like it was a month ago. I a hundred percent. Okay. Are we are we gonna talk about some other stuff before? We're going to our full meet. Yeah, let's talk about some other stuff before we get all the I will say though Just on that topic though. He's talking about the pictures It's actually really funny if you go back and look at the first year group photo in your backyard to the second photo It's like oh, yeah, what just a fun little get-together that first year was Yeah, it seemed really big at the time seemed enormous at the time and then you look at the second year and it's like Oh, yeah, that just totally outguns the first one in every way. Yes Well, we'll get more on what's upcoming and And now, so I think at some point in time in this episode, we're gonna have a special guest
Starting point is 00:06:26 to help us even preview some of the 2025 Lift Hardly VZs, but that's coming later. First, are you drinking anything over there, Tommy? You know I am. I got that Kirkland lemon water on me. Oh, I did not know where the hell. What do you got it naked over there? Yeah, I do not know. Well, we. Hell. What do you got it naked over there? I do know well at coast horse Toma equals
Starting point is 00:06:47 But I do not know where the hell my drink spot or light when I know it's here somewhere But I don't see it I've got The old chill right here. I'm sorry. I'm a drink spider chill. I said I'm spotter light hiding inside my chill. I've got a Liquid death mountain water I'm at DrinkSpot or Chill. I said DrinkSpot or Light. Hiding inside my chill, I've got a liquid death mountain water. Have you heard about this? All right. I have heard about that.
Starting point is 00:07:12 You know what's interesting to me? Occasionally I'll run into people still, like as in within recent, just within months from now that have not heard about this. Like I'll have one or something and people still haven't heard about it. Yeah Yeah, it does No, I never have heard about this but to be fair between the 10,000 versions of energy drinks seltzers and right that like the beverage
Starting point is 00:07:36 Market is constantly evolving but liquid death does have some of those noteworthy marketing in the game though. Yeah that's I was just I was at like a grill out just a few weeks ago and a guy about our age and he's like, What is that? And I was like, it's water. And he's like, What do you mean? You said sit down, buddy. That story to tell. That's just the plain one, though. Yeah, plain one. I'm good with the plain ones.
Starting point is 00:08:05 I asked him, have you heard about this? And he said, no. Have you heard about this? Have you seen this? Have you heard about this? He's like, why do you keep saying that? I said no. Okay.
Starting point is 00:08:23 I got to ask you something here. I need you to clarify. I think about this and it makes me giggle. Uh, and I got it. I need you to remember. I forgot what the exact quote was, but a couple of weeks ago, you made a comment, like, if you go into the gym and on chest day, your first exercise is like chest flies.
Starting point is 00:08:42 You made some, but what was that? Do you remember what I'm talking about? Yeah, I know exactly what you're talking. I don't know. I did preface it was saying I'm not here trying to completely yuck everyone's young. But if you go in on chest day, and you're first, and like if your most primary lift and usually first is chest flies, you're probably like, doing something different than what we're doing. At the very least, I'd say like we're not on the exact same lifting level. I'm not even saying ours is higher and yours is lower. You're just
Starting point is 00:09:13 doing something different than us. That's for sure. I think about that one a lot. Yeah, as I see videos of chest flies on the internet. Yeah, the same could be said for leg day. You know, if you're going in for leg day and the primary things you do are leg extension and leg curls, where everybody's different
Starting point is 00:09:33 and you're definitely doing something different than what we're doing, I guess is what I would say. Yeah. Yeah. I'm just trying to say those things politely. Just trying to be with all due respect here Yeah, well as long as you say with all due respect first, then you can say whatever you want after that. Yes Yeah, we're what oh
Starting point is 00:09:57 I was wondering today was hot as the Dickens at least in western northeast, South Dakota So were you training in your garage day and And how was it? I actually wasn't. Well, I mean, it was hot. It wasn't the worst day. There's been a few days, you know, over 90 here. Worse than this. Yeah, I think it was right around like, actually, the bigger difference is the way the wind was blowing.
Starting point is 00:10:14 It was kind of bringing a breeze into the garage. Probably makes a really big difference. So that makes a really big difference. So you got kind of a natural breeze plus the fan. And there was decent air movement which is big but uh also this is my third different gym in three workouts that i've been in today i've been really making the rounds lately like this week oh yeah well you're at massonomics gym yeah i got my first lift at massonomics gym in probably since march. Maybe, maybe even before that, February.
Starting point is 00:10:46 So I got a lift in there, got a lift in at Perfect Little Sweeties, and then tonight a lift at my place. So it's been. It's been one week since you looked at me. It's been a while. I've been getting around, you could say. So when do you think the last time you lifted
Starting point is 00:11:04 in Mastonomics Gym was? I think actually I could you think the last time you lifted in Mastonomics gym was I Think actually I could tell you the exact time because it was I had an rp-10 squad day and I got a video of it On my Instagram It was this past winter. I believe According to Instagram it was January 9th as far as I can tell I don't think I've lifted there since then So yeah, that's six months. That's a long time. I don't think I've lifted there since then. So yeah, that's six months. That's a long time.
Starting point is 00:11:26 I told you when I go in there now, when I go into Massive Nuggets Gym now, it catches me off guard. It feels like, it feels like what is going on in here. And I, for the most part, know what's in there. So that's what I was saying. People that don't get there ever or getting there for the first time,
Starting point is 00:11:44 it has to just be like take your breath away Yeah, it gets a little more Elaborate all the time too with just like the little little things I was thinking about that the other day for people that you know come once a year for the lift hardly be easy Looks considerably different than the last. Oh, I think it does when I open the door It feels very different to me just the wall of dumbbells that are there the yeah the wall of vintage plates Just there's a lot going on in there right now You go to the other side with the you mean the hang clean plates the wall is the Olympic plates on the wall
Starting point is 00:12:18 It's yeah, it there's a lot there What were you talking about at first though? Well you also went to Perfect Little Sweety's. Yeah, I did go there too. Well this kind of gets into the training update for the meet though, so I don't know if we want to talk about that now or. Maybe we'll table that.
Starting point is 00:12:37 Yeah, we'll wait on that. I'll give the full training update there. I will say one more thing on this. When I was driving back to Aberdeen, this is funny. Okay, so coming back for the fourth and We're making there making our way up the interstate in South Dakota we have to take a little a little break in Watertown for the kids to get some food, so we stop at McDonald's and
Starting point is 00:12:59 We go in We're ordering food and my wife goes. Oh, there's your friend with the same shirt as you. And I'm like, what is she talking about? I thought she was like joking about something. And then I look and in the corner of McDonald's is big Jake the Snake sitting there and he has the purple gym skull shirt on and I also had that shirt on.
Starting point is 00:13:18 So it's pretty funny that we have that. So we caught up for a minute and talked and then left and then later that day we go to Aberdeen And we're gonna take the kids of storybook land and we're driving up to storybook land and walking around Wiley Lake is Kaden with the purple gym shirt on And then before we leave town three days later, I put on the brick colored gym shirt I believe that was the color of it and I'm at the gas station and I leave and you pull up and you also have the brick-colored Jim shirt on so everywhere I went I had the same shirt as someone else that was your wife was like what
Starting point is 00:13:52 are you doing she doesn't even ask questions at this point she just knows it's weird I've got a important call out here. I've been trying to do something with our Instagram and like the monetization part of it. And you know what I'm talking about. I won't get into all the details of it, but I spent again today at least an hour, I would say even an hour and a half.
Starting point is 00:14:21 I'm like, okay, gonna figure it out today. And I'm gonna like use chat GBT to its fullest, see what it can help me with and all this. And I'm, you absolutely cannot even get so much as a live chat like from Meta. There is no support for like, they literally do everything that they can to not provide support on that. And what I was going to ask, someone listening to this has to work for Metta.
Starting point is 00:14:52 Or know someone that does. Right. Well, does Big Ryan work for Metta? Yeah, he does. He did actually. I don't know if he still does, but he did for sure. My message to a supporting member of Big Ryan is that I need someone that works for Metta because I just have a pretty basic. Oh, it's so dumb. Yes It's so dumb, but like I can't resolve it and you can't the only thing you can go I've been on and there's so much they have like there's like four different apps Yeah for face for meta if you're a business account. There's like the ad manager, there's the business suite one, there's just the actual Facebook app,
Starting point is 00:15:27 there's the Instagram app, actually I'm up to four apps. And you can kinda edit settings in all four of them. And even chat GPT gets confused cause it's like try this one, and like yep, that doesn't work, okay yeah, that's a common problem, try this one then. And what they make it say like is that all even depends, like that meta will give different accounts different option
Starting point is 00:15:46 Yeah, all the time. Yeah, and it's like and it's basically like yeah this is a classic circle that meta puts the customer in where they Basically do whatever they can to not provide. Yeah, the old support on the old dark pattern I believe they call it where is that what that is? Okay? Because they are the masters of that. Like they do, and I'm like, I don't even need to call someone, just give me one of those chat windows. It's such a basic problem that I'm like, it's also though, I know exactly what you're trying
Starting point is 00:16:16 to do. It's literally like you're trying to change some account information. And it's like any other website in the world, you just hit the edit button and do this and meta will not let you do it because it's like tying to something from ten years ago. Yes Yeah, it is really dumb. And yes, you have been trying to do this for well over a year now at this point I think once and once and today I was like I'm gonna get this cuz I've had it on my list of things to do And I'm like I'm getting it today. I know I can if I just work on it long enough and by the end of it I'm getting it today. I know I can if I just work on it long enough and by the end of it I'm like this is
Starting point is 00:16:46 Actually not possible unless I get a connection of someone there to actually get someone to talk to me Talk to me for probably two minutes and they can probably be like, oh, yep. Here you go. It's fixed Oh, or they can be oh, yeah, we got to escalate this to the next person. They'll get a right So that's my medical out is, for the love of God, if someone listening works for meta, help me out. I have the most basic of it. I'm not asking for much here. I have the most basic of customer service requests
Starting point is 00:17:14 that I need help with. I feel like Ryan could probably at least point us in the right direction. I bet he could too. Did I mention, that reminds me, when I went on the flight to home gym con that Big Megan upped me to Comfort Plus. Did I talk about that on the podcast? Okay.
Starting point is 00:17:33 I ran into her today and I just had to confirm with her. I'm like, so did you actually do that? And she's like, yes, I did. And based on the conversation I had with her, always be nice to the person working behind there because they can do way more than they actually say that they can do. Yes, yes.
Starting point is 00:17:54 And she's like, oh yeah, it comes down so much to what people are like and if you think that they're nice or you want to screw them over. That's very real. They they have in some cases a lot of power at their discrepancy there. And I thought that was interesting to me that I'm like, I suspected that was maybe the case, but it definitely is the case.
Starting point is 00:18:18 Yeah. Like for my second flight, I was even on a, I got upgraded to comfort plus again oh really because of basically what she had done one flight prior oh wow they also can put notes that like stay with you like hey this person like your fire rain yeah like and then when the person pulls it up across the country they still see that and they're like ah this person was a prick to the people in. They got your profile.
Starting point is 00:18:46 Right. Right. Good to know. So be nice to those people. I mean, be nice to everyone. Uh, that reminds me, that's what I was like, the meta thing reminded me of it because I'm like, I'm going to be extremely polite and I want to do anything possible to get, I promise I'm competent. I'm not to be extremely polite and I want to do anything possible to get I promise I'm competent. I'm not
Starting point is 00:19:07 Well, that's that reminded me of like being nice actually does pay off sometimes Yeah Did you What did you had you had it ads though, is that something different or I did put something in here I just remember Okay, it has been is that's kind of semi related. It's kind of kind of actually I Have held off for years and years and years on Pain for any type of YouTube, you know to get rid of ads. Oh
Starting point is 00:19:39 Like is it called the YouTube premium? Yeah, or there is a YouTube light and actually on my computer I don't care. See I use you block origin it blocks. Yeah, that's not an issue, but The number one thing I watch on my TV and my iPad is YouTube Like at lunch when I go upstairs and make lunch I make my lunch I sit down at the table and I put my iPad in front of me and I watch I don't know however long it takes me 20 minutes 30 minutes You know if I start watching something I'll finish it but usually watch probably 30 minutes YouTube at lunchtime and
Starting point is 00:20:09 Then like at the end of the night winding down if I just need something I'll usually throw on a little YouTube and just the other day just the ads just got too much for me I finally cracked and I looked and there is a YouTube light plant because the premium is like $18 a month or something Which what do you get besides not ads? Well on the premium one you get? Like YouTube music all this other crap that I don't want because I'm paying for Spotify and a bunch of other stuff but then like YouTube light is like eight dollars a month and It's mostly ad free unless you're like watching music videos that I guess music videos might have ads but I tell it like this sounds dumb, but I, it
Starting point is 00:20:51 makes YouTube so nice when you're watching on your TV or iPad and the ads just never come on. Like I, I start to notice there'll be, I'll be like five to seven minutes into a video and it's almost like I start like reaching for the remote instinctively, like getting ready to hit the skip ad button because I know it's coming and it just never comes It's the weirdest feeling and or they'll be like a video that I think is interesting and I don't click on it So I'm like, oh, I don't want to watch the 30 seconds or 45 seconds of ads before the video start So I don't even watch the video and now all of a sudden like oh that video looks interesting and I click on it and it Loads instantly and I can
Starting point is 00:21:28 Scrub through to even see if it's worth what like it's it sounds dumb But it has been a game changer for me in the one week. I've done it so if you watch a lot of YouTube Yes, like that's the number one thing. I'm watching is YouTube right? So yeah, if you do check out YouTube light, man, it's eight bucks. It is worth it You're watching you really otherwise if you're starting computer to get you block origin, right? Just block the stuff, but if you're on your phone your tablet or your TV. Oh It is nice and how much is it? YouTube light is like eight dollars a month Alright, and the next one up is like double that I think it's like 18 or something
Starting point is 00:21:58 But that one also not YouTube TV then no cuz YouTube TV is just you know cable replacement, but like YouTube premium It also comes like with support for different accounts So like you know you have people in your house that are of age or they might have their own YouTube accounts No one in my house does so it's just all in one account so doesn't matter But like YouTube premium supports other accounts do Okay But it's nice. I guess I don't watch enough YouTube for it to matter. I mostly listen to podcasts,
Starting point is 00:22:28 so as long as they don't mess with that. Actually, I am just about finished with a book. Actually, that's new sports and book segment. What do we got here? What are we talking about? Project Holy Grail. Ever heard of, have you heard about this? I normally don't.
Starting point is 00:22:44 I normally don't You know, I kind of only strict. I normally don't read just fiction, but there's got to be some science fiction nerds out there They're like hell. Yeah project. Holy grail. I guarantee that'll come up. I'm just I don't never you know how people Remember albums and authors and all that stuff like that I never remember any of that. Like I could read a book and then a month later, I'd be like, I don't know. Right, anything about it.
Starting point is 00:23:10 And I'd be like, I could listen to an entire album and be like, yeah, I don't remember what the name of that album even was. I was just trying to look at who the author is. Is Andy Weir? Yeah, that must be right. Yeah, Project Holy Grail. And if you're a science fiction or ah
Starting point is 00:23:26 Hail Mary. I don't know why I'm saying Holy Grail Jake correct project. Hail Mary. Okay. Yeah, I didn't realize it. Yeah, I don't know why I Repeatedly said the wrong thing. Hail Mary is actually correct. Okay He said he just finished it but for science fiction nerd, so this is like a popular book I think it's super popular. They're making a movie right now. And Ryan Gosling is I think the main I think it's supposed to come out in like 2026. Andy Weir Yeah, you did the audio book of it. Yes. How do you do your audio books? We have Amazon. Oh, Kindle or whatever
Starting point is 00:24:03 the hell audible. Yes. Yeah, we have, like we listen to our, we don't have Spotify, we use Amazon and then that comes with Audible. So you can listen to like so many audibles per whatever time period. But really good, really, really good. Interesting. But it is getting, you asked me about some other podcasts. It's got me way behind on my podcast listening because,
Starting point is 00:24:30 and also even like YouTube for that matter, because in the evening. Dumping all the time into that. That's why I'm like, yup, I'm just gonna lay in bed and listen to Project Hail Mary. See, I was talking about how I can't remember the author. Right, you didn't have the name like, I'm almost completely finished with us And I couldn't even remember the name of the book. I was like how there's surprisingly no like almost no Google results for this book
Starting point is 00:24:54 but what is this? That's how much I don't like, you know, I don't absorb that part of it is the especially the authors I think too. So it's funny that you said you mixed it up and we're listening to an audio book because on our drive to Aberdeen, you know, it's three hours. And I just felt like I had for the most part caught up on my talk show podcasts. And I felt like I wanted something different.
Starting point is 00:25:21 And for the first time in many years, I went to a true crime podcast that I've had sitting on my list for probably five years. And man, I kind of forgot what it's like to listen to those things. It's been so like, we used to like, my wife and I before we had kids is like road trip, get a true crime podcast, you know, five to 10 hours, here we go, it's gonna be good. And I don't do that anymore. So True Crime podcast feels very 2016. Oh, God.
Starting point is 00:25:49 Yes. There's some things in this. I don't even know what year it's from. The one I'm listening to is called Bone Valley. And there's some things in this where I'm like, why does the podcast need a long and a minute plus long theme song to go with this true crime thing? Right. There's just so much of that kind of stuff where, oh, we get the moody, acoustic, scary guitar that plays and some of that stuff.
Starting point is 00:26:11 It now does feel a little bit like a meme, but that was very much of the style for a while. That is something though, too. I'm very used to listening to podcasts, which say on average are an hour or two hours long, and I listen to a lot of different podcasts. But the audio book, too, is like, I don't know, say on average are an hour or two hours long, and I listen to a lot of different podcasts, but the audio book too is like, I don't know, 25 hours long or something like that too.
Starting point is 00:26:30 That's an investment. That's the time investment. I'm like, and once you start, I'm kind of the way that I don't like to start much of anything and not finish it, so I'm like, oh, really just gotta keep plowing through this thing. What's this about YouTube momentum that you've got in here?
Starting point is 00:26:50 Oh, I was just going to say our YouTube is just on a heater lately. If people haven't been keeping up. It really has been on a heater, hasn't it? It's, it actually has made, I mean, we're not just saying this. It has made some significant strides in the last six months I mean the the numbers behind the scenes the views the watch time the subscribers
Starting point is 00:27:13 just what a month looks like now compared to six months ago is is a Significantly different number like borderline getting like exponential. I mean it actually is yes like there is actually It's borderline getting like exponential. I mean, it actually is. Yes, like there is actually, there is actually money coming in. And I mean, it's not just like a few dollars. Like there's, there is some money coming in that means something.
Starting point is 00:27:32 Right. Like it's just, it's going really good. And I feel like we're, I feel like we're putting out good content. I mean, it's definitely resonating with people. Like people are, whether people like it or not, they are investing the time into sitting down and watching these and the engagement is pretty high.
Starting point is 00:27:48 And it does seem like for the most part, we have a lot of positive feedback, a lot of positive comments around it. So, uh, it's been a huge investment on our part, but it's been really rewarding to see that plan that we kind of put in place, we started kind of put the pieces of this in like last fall, I feel like we started to kind of mold this and we refined it over the winter time to now. And I think the,
Starting point is 00:28:14 the just the fruits of the labor are starting to pay off for us there. Yeah, it doesn't really seem like that, which is really Satisfying Because it's not by accident at this point that oh, it's like the reason it's working is because we kind of been busting Our asses on it and all fronts. Yeah, it's like oh good. It is working because if it wasn't it would be a little bit a Little bit annoying right now. It's like oh frick. What can we do about that? I remember you said effect there was like last year, it might've been about this time last year
Starting point is 00:28:46 where we're like, yeah, if we're still putting out a video every week and it's still kind of doing this, like we probably just at that point either need to totally change it up or just decide we're not good at this. Right. And, uh, and that was, you know, there's nothing wrong with this. Like there's, you know, at that point it was like a good video would be like about a thousandish views and there's nothing wrong with that at all. But it just felt like for the amount of time and effort and all that we're putting into, like,
Starting point is 00:29:13 it needs to be a little bit more of a payoff. You know, when we're doing this as a business, we're not doing this just as Tommy and Tanner's fun channel where it's purely a hobby. We don't have enough time to just exactly. Yes, like it like if we just wanted something for fun, you know, there's other outlets for it that can be a little less time consuming. And so it's been just really nice,
Starting point is 00:29:35 you know, especially just kind of riding this high from home, Jim Conn, you know, like you you made a big commitment to go there and crank out these. I mean, basically we talked about it, You know, it was like a work trip. You just busted your butt for like 24 straight hours. It's a fun work trip, but it still is. Yeah, and like you, I mean, and we planned that a ton. Like you didn't just show up and go like, oh, what are we gonna do?
Starting point is 00:29:57 Like we had probably, I don't know. We might've had five hours of, I was gonna say we probably had five hours into what our plan was Yeah and then like orchestrating it with mini action Jesus and just like figuring out how we're gonna do this and for the most part having Titles and all that figured out ahead of time so that when you showed up you could be as efficient as possible And then you know on the flip side of that like you got here or you got it done and The footage was dumped back to me and it was a quick turnaround, too
Starting point is 00:30:24 you know we weren't sitting around waiting and it was like, no, like this is, if we're going to make the effort and we're going to put the investment into doing this, like we're going to do it right. And uh, it just, it's another one of those things where, and it felt like we were, we were compensated. We were paid off for doing that. So yeah, it's good to see that it is the videos are resonating with people. And same for the home gym tours.
Starting point is 00:30:45 Right, yeah, like that one's the most obvious one. Like just go look at our YouTube channel. They'll just keep growing and growing. Yeah, those are all the biggest videos on our channel. Right. And luckily, that's a formula we've got figured out that we can kind of keep just adding, dumping gasoline on the fire, I think.
Starting point is 00:31:00 Yeah, and that one's the perfect storm because those are really fun to do. So not only are they really fun to do but people like to watch them and they get a lot of engagement So it's just like it's a win-win win across the board with those ones Yeah, just another great reason to become a certified training facility so that we've got you on our map So that we can find you when it comes time of us being in your area To get a home gym tour with you for our YouTube channel That's right. We do. Should we do some supporting our supporting members? I think we should Okay, I think I forgot some of these last week because we were talking about just all the home gym cons
Starting point is 00:31:35 So maybe I said some of these if so, whatever you get you get a double whammy last weekend this week big Atlantic strong He retained old tell me if you remember this. He retained his title of maritime strongest man. Do you remember me saying maritime strongest man last week at all? I don't. But to be fair, a lot of times when you're doing this, I'm trying to look for training facilities. You probably should look up one of those now, too. So you also won't remember if I do this for a third week. Big Scott competed in USS
Starting point is 00:32:08 Strongman Nationals and he hit three PRS and gave it hell. Big Diet Tanner got engaged. Big James Nice. Yeah, I saw that. Big Nita, I would assume. Congrats on the funeral. Of the Minnesota Department of Lifter Safety. Speaking of the Minnesota Department of Lifter Safety. Speaking of the Minnesota Department of Lifter Safety, big Tom Nas went eight for nine in his meat. He totaled 1614 with a that was a huge PR forum and that was what? USAPL Nationals. It's a good warm up for the for the real meat here.
Starting point is 00:32:43 That's right. The Minnesota Department of Lift or Safety was spotting and loading at that meet. Big brand and basement brand and competed at Masters Nationals. Big Bubbs hit a new family PR with the birth of his baby. Congratulations, Big Bubbs. Big Dr. Hogan and big Nicole,
Starting point is 00:33:05 double crew, crew on crew crime, they got engaged. A lot of engagements. Yeah. Love is in the air. The impending funerals. Miss Fitzbarbell Club down in Alabama celebrated their four years in business anniversary. Oh, hell yeah.
Starting point is 00:33:25 Big Seth, I missed this one from last week at home, Jim Conn, Big Seth actually won the Strongman in the 220 class, he got first place. Talked to him a couple times, I think I kind of actually forgot that he was a supporting member at the time. And the new Big Gabe, he won his division at home, Jim Conn, in the Strongman competition too. Big Estep, he and his division at home get Jim Khan in the strongman competition to big s to P and his son competed in their first powerlifting competition and they did it together. Nice. So well done everyone is become a supporting member Getting read on this is just one of the mini perks another thing is you get access to our discord It's the only way you get in our discord. It's very active community
Starting point is 00:34:12 you also get to Listen to the pre-show the Mastinomics pre-show. It's the show before the show. That's the only way You also get to listen to the podcast live if you want to do that get access to our drops early information on drops It's pretty much the only way you can get signed up for the lift hardly easy classic which we're gonna talk about more now which registration for that came out eight months ago and Supporting members pretty much filled up all those spots for both powerlifting and strongman as well as the hot button issue coming. We have a supporting member mailer coming out this year.
Starting point is 00:34:53 The line in the sand has not been officially drawn yet, but it is coming soon. Yeah, I don't want people to think, I was just thinking about this, I don't want people to think we've just totally spaced this one out and forgot. We got a lot going on. Let us get to the meat, and then it'll be full speed ahead on this. Yes
Starting point is 00:35:07 I'm this kind of the rough That's the rough rough timeline is had to get through home Jim con Have to get through the lift hardly easy classic then we'll be focusing more attention on the line in the sand for this support I saw about two weeks. That's not the line in the sand But about two weeks will be moving full speed ahead on this so So right. So that being said, get signed up now because if you sign up after the line in the sand, you will be too late and you will miss out on this. And I do think it's probably up there with the coolest one of these we've done yet. So get signed up
Starting point is 00:35:37 join now. It's also just the number way you can number one way you can support us and massonomics and ensure that we keep continuing to do this. So whether we were new to you from Home Gym Con, we're new to you from YouTube and the gym tours, you've been listening for a long time, however you find us, whatever you enjoy, if you like it, become a supporting member.
Starting point is 00:35:56 That's how you make sure that we do this forever and ever and ever. Did you find us a certified training facility there? Okay, do you have any preferences for where we go? No, I think it's a crap shoot. Oh boy. You know, I was just heading down the interstate to Nebraska and looking around there. Oh yeah. And there's a couple facilities there. Several people we know.
Starting point is 00:36:25 One that kind of caught my attention though is just to the left. You say just to the west of that cup in Nebraska. Let's make smack dab in the middle of Omaha. There's Oswald Home Gym. Oh, okay. Oswald Home Gym, Omaha, Nebraska. I see it. Let's take a look at this thing. There's some gym, Omaha, Nebraska. I see it. Let's take a look at this thing. There's some, uh, some kind of interesting stuff here. Look at picture two.
Starting point is 00:36:56 It's your name on it. Yeah. So I was going to, I was going to tell you that afterwards, but yes. What the hell? Bared home. It must be a lawyer downtown Omaha. It's funny. And's funny and like the biggest Building in Louisville downtown was bare. It's a beard on it big too. I saw that It's one of those names I guess must be something going on I don't know about I've never seen that before on a giant building and now I'm seeing it twice within one week Huh? It's Usually how that goes. That's the truth.
Starting point is 00:37:27 Things come in threes. So we'll be on the lookout for the third one. There'll be one more. Yeah. Oh boy. This Jim's got some interesting stuff in it though. Yeah. Okay.
Starting point is 00:37:35 So what do we say Oswald Oswald home gym? All right in all in Omaha, Nebraska. So first of all, we got of course the customary and massonomics decorations on the walls we are in a basement and right this is a basement it's got to be right with I think that's basement the duck Dean and everything above yeah looks like we got some marina shop lights overhead means it's a family of culture here they understand proper gym lighting and we got the horse stall mats on the floor with the black gorilla
Starting point is 00:38:06 Tape keeping them together. So it's all clean Couple things all here at Tanner. Okay. We'll look at the rat quick. It looks like it's a rep I'm zoomed away in they got a nice white and black Rep rack it's got that Brandon Campbell look to it, you know the storm super white black Yeah, they got the six post and I think they have god I cannot keep the names of them straight the Aries are the Athena cable system running through it It looks like okay, so I got that in there Looks like the elite FTS SS yoke bar in the rack there, too. They also got some of Ivanko Calibrated plates, which is pretty cool. Yeah, a lot of the ones, like you don't see that too often in a home gym.
Starting point is 00:38:45 No. So that's a cool touch right there. And then, do you see behind the rack, what's going on there? Like directly behind the rack? Well, that wooden, the wooden contraption. Yeah, the wooden belt squat. Someone built like a wooden.
Starting point is 00:39:02 Lever belt squat. Yeah, which looks really cool. Yeah, it looks like a very lever belt squat. Yeah. Which looks really cool. Yeah. It looks like a very nicely built wooden, you know, like it does not seem janky whatsoever. No. And they, and it's got some big weight horns. You know, it's all wood.
Starting point is 00:39:15 The weight horns are metal. And then they got some big blocks to really work that range of motion. Yeah. You can step on. It's a very interesting piece. That's what really caught my attention is that piece? I'm just that's what I know I would love to know the story behind that what where that came from or how that came about
Starting point is 00:39:31 And then you got what's behind that like even more in the corner Yeah, I don't know if that's like a like a plate loaded leg extension leg Curl kind of thing where you can really lay back on it, you know Yeah, that's sort of what it looks like but the rack is just enough in the way that it's hard to tell There's some sandbags on the wall. You can see there's a bunch of barbells. So no shortage of barbells in this place I think we can see some wraps straps bands on the wall in the foreground tanner There's some type of Oh foreground
Starting point is 00:40:04 GHD slash I think it's the bells of steel one Okay, that that's like a GHD slash slash paper hyper. That's what it looks like. Yep. I Can't remember what they call that thing. It's quite the contraption Yeah, that is what that is actually up there's is it maybe the reverse hammer does that sound right? I thought it could be I think that would be what it is and then we got some dumbbells in the corner, but overall a very efficient use of space and I Think it's pretty good-looking Jim. You do you think you could get strong in this particular basement gym though? Oh Hell yeah, it's so strong in there Oh getting strong in that gym for you and the whole Os. It's so strong in there. Getting strong in that gym.
Starting point is 00:40:45 Me and the whole Oswald family getting strong up in there. He's got the Texas Power Bars flag behind the rock too. Yeah, I like that touch. Yeah, the Cornhuskers flag. Big 12 football, am I right? I don't know. Is that what is what? I don't know what people conferences people are in anymore. No, they're Big Ten. I'm pretty sure.
Starting point is 00:41:03 OK, big, pretty sure they're in the in the West pop pop pop quiz. How many teams are in the big 10? It's probably not 10. My guess is probably anything but 10. I think it's like 20 some isn't it? Yeah, probably Let's see, it's got the real answer here Football learning work. We're talking football here. Football teams in the big 10, 18 football teams. Makes sense. Big 10 favorites like UCLA, USC. Something seems broken with that system. I'm not a I'm not the one to fix it, but something seems off.
Starting point is 00:41:44 It's almost like they're only doing it for the money but oh what do I know that might be part of it some people that aren't only doing it for the money though is our friends over at Texas power bars just doing it all the love of the game yeah they're doing it because buddy caps honestly they're doing it because buddy capsaps, honestly, they're doing it because Buddy Caps noticed there was issues. There were some known issues in the available bar bells on the market.
Starting point is 00:42:11 And he thought, you know what, I'm just the son of a gun that can go ahead and solve these known issues. So Buddy did it, came out with the first Texas Power Bar, the original Buddy Caps Texas Power Bar. And really, ever since since then the rest is history You can check all the bars out at Texas power bars calm They're having a flash sale right now with up to $75 off to certain bars if you're gonna make me pick a favorite Today, I'm gonna go red
Starting point is 00:42:39 seracote Texas deadlift bar. Oh, that's a good choice. Now that's a pretty sweet bar. They do have several different color options. Or just go black zinc if you want to too. That's always a classic. So check them all out at texaspowerbars.com. This episode is also brought to you by Build Fast Formula. Yeah, sick of these freeloaders. Freeloading on our party here. Free ride. And then as Tommy does that, we will kick off our welcome to the lift hard, live easy classic three.
Starting point is 00:44:37 So if you are listening to this and you are one of the 115 competitors or one of the several other hundreds that are just coming to get in on the festivities, you're maybe your support crew, whatever it is, it's that time again. We're excited for it. Lift Hard, Leave Easy Classic part three, made most major change this year to the Lift Hard Live Easy Classic from prior years is the venue. We haven't really talked about it that much,
Starting point is 00:45:14 probably on the podcast, but our biggest change is we moved from the Odie Ice Arena in years one and two to now in year three we're in a hotel convention center. It's called the Ram Coda. It's not all that relevant, but it is a big hotel convention center is the biggest switch from the prior years. And not only is it a change of venue, there's also climate control. So that's all right.
Starting point is 00:45:38 That's like the biggest reasoning for the change in venue. Honestly, the other one actually worked out quite well. And it was just hotter than somewhere that's air conditioned, but the bigger problem would be, actually, in years prior, this brings up an interesting point. I was checking the weather... Oh, we were checking the weather fanatically. ...constantly, and I haven't looked at,
Starting point is 00:45:58 like, we're only a week out right now, and... Oh, of course. Oh, no, wait, okay. I was looking at next week and it's like seventy three seventy seven and I was like that would be perfect. But then Saturday does show ninety one. So there again it would be fairly hot. But what I was really concerned about is what if it's ninety nine, which we get a few days like that every year, you know, and even there. I mean, it was it was very warm and we were still like having days. I think it was like always in the mid 80s ish, like it never cracked.
Starting point is 00:46:28 90, I think. And yeah, if it let's say it was a hundred degree day, which can totally happen in July. We're in there like that starts to be some potential health concerns. Yeah. So we remedied that by switching to the Ram Coda. That is probably the most interesting change for the comers as we'll see because a lot of people actually really like the ODI and some People have a sentiment that they're like well I really I liked it there and I don't want it to change actually here quite a few people that have The are of that an opinion and I get that
Starting point is 00:46:59 Also from a nostalgia perspective as much as anything because I just like it there also Because we've done it for the last couple years, so it feels like the Lift Hard Live Easy classic to me when we go in there, but I think that this is gonna be better. So I get that perspective, because I also kind of feel that a little bit, but I also think at the end of the day, this is for competitors and spectators.
Starting point is 00:47:23 Our goal is for this to be better and hopefully that's the way it turns out. But that's the reason we're switching. Certainly not because it's cheaper. Far more expensive to do it in this location. Yeah, also should potentially make things a little easier for us too, being that they actually have a support staff there
Starting point is 00:47:41 that is gonna do some things. So yeah. The bathrooms, I mean knock on wood been to a powerlifting meet you never know what's gonna be like but there is a lot of bathrooms and they should be pretty decently staffed and clean and I would guess there again knock on wood because Can't really know for sure but I would guess as far as a powerlifting meet Those competitors are gonna leave there and be like Yeah, that was a pretty sweet bathroom setup compared to what we've experienced at some other meets before I think so Yeah, there should be no shortage of no shortage of
Starting point is 00:48:14 stalls and urinals and then just like us not having to handle all the Tables and chairs and garbages the amount of garbage that we hauled out last year from the lift, like we completely. It was an overflowing truck bed of bags of garbage from last year. I mean, there was like 50 giant bags of garbage and maybe I'm, there's like 30 giant bags of garbage. Like, oh, that's kind of crazy when you get a few hundred people in a room
Starting point is 00:48:43 and they got to like eat and drink for a day, how much waste is produced? Yeah, so there is some of the amenities there that we don't have to be hands-on with that should simplify things from our end a little bit, which is a plus as well. But really, it's the climate control is the number one thing.
Starting point is 00:49:00 And some of the competitors also have the luxury of knowing their hotel room is a 30 second walk from from where they're competing. You know, if they want to go up to the room ever, they can they can do it. That's true. That's a good point. Like and there are a lot of the competitors that are staying there. I've got a room there too. So I don't know if you do. Oh, you're really living it up. Yeah, we got a poolside room. Oh, because we're going to have kids there all weekend. So damn, it's not so much for me. I'm not sure if I'll be like freaking Michael Scott
Starting point is 00:49:30 in that episode of the office. It's music playing. I'm not sure that I'll even ever make it to the room with everything. But the option exists. Yes, yes, it will be there. So yeah, what's the party, the Michael Scott in the room? Yeah, what where did they go? Is it oh people have just been trickling?
Starting point is 00:49:50 The song We hear that we know it's so funny we always had that song on the playlist forever so that's that's one change the other I Really actually think the biggest evolution, this isn't a new idea, but it's what we're probably progressing the most, is the concept that the Lift Hard, Live Easy classic really is not just a powerlifting meet, it really is not just a strongman competition,
Starting point is 00:50:17 it's not just the combination of those two things either. I, if I'm to put an honest percentage on it, I feel like those primary competitions make on it, I feel like the those Primary competitions make up about a third Yeah, we it's just it's just one of the you know If you're coming you're there anywhere between two and four days and that's just one of the days that has an activity Right. So every year that goes on we just get more planned on these other activities. So the Thursday night more planned on these other activities. So the Thursday night locations changed this year. In the past, the Thursday night thing was relatively informal between us and the place we went like 60 people in the same bar. We actually took over the restaurant.
Starting point is 00:51:06 Yes, and it was kind of a problem. So this year we actually scheduled a formal thing between us and a different bar restaurant. And so Thursday night is very just is straight up another piece of the event at this point. You know, that's a pre-planned party. It's like kind of the welcome party. A lot of people trickle in Thursday during the day, a lot of them fly in their flights
Starting point is 00:51:29 start to get there at varying times on Thursday, a lot of them will go to the gym possibly before that evening. That evening meal. And then we have like kind of an official Thursday night party then for everyone now, which I wouldn't surprised this year if there's a hundred people there, you know I don't know how many people will be but I would not be surprised if there was 100 people I mean it'd be surprising if there was less than 50 now after how last year went and and this year is at Lagers Which Lagers was is for people that don't know is historically the pregame bar before the zoo So that's so we stayed true to tradition
Starting point is 00:52:09 Other things on that note of you know advancing the Feel of like it making it more of the it's the lift hardly easy classic festival Not this lift hardly be the classic strength event is the Friday night party. That's been a thing for both years. But I think it's even continuing to evolve that to just continue to make that more and more of a thing. This that is historically, I think this year will be no exception. That is kind of the fashion show. evening event of the weekend where it's like you wear your brightest and best Massanam air isicles. Yeah, your rarest wildest mass anomics. Maybe most custom Massanam X pieces of clothing those come out on Friday evening and that's the backyard party It's literally in my backyard and it is now will be the second annual Jacket ceremony will have.
Starting point is 00:53:06 Oh, yeah. No shortage of awards that go out. The awards start early. Yeah, the Hall of Fame Jacket ceremony will be that evening with a champagne celebration. We've got five inductees and all existing Hall of Fame jacket members will be there. So we're talking about different parts of the country here. We're not saying five people from South Dakota. We're talking about five different people across the country.
Starting point is 00:53:27 They're all from all over the frickin' continent. Yeah, what do we got? The people that are in this. Indiana, Michigan, Canada. Well, if all 10 of them, whether we're saying Sioux Falls, Iowa. Yeah. Oh yeah, yeah, yeah.
Starting point is 00:53:40 So yeah, and yep. Omaha, yeah, so it is. And we will have it may be. Who knows if we'll ever have all Hall of Fame jacket members together at one time again, like that may be hard to ever pull off. So it gets more difficult as the years go on. And then all the the Cup level members will have the cups ready where they will also receive will hand out the Cup level Hall of Fame people to which we now up to probably will be like well
Starting point is 00:54:08 over 50 people in the cup level of the Hall of Fame at this point. Yeah, I would think. And then also Friday night, a new element is the for 2025 the cottage cheese eating competition. That'll be held Friday night in the backyard party where we've got four people that have signed up. There's also some alternates out there and they will be racing to see who can eat one tub of cottage cheese the fastest has the brand been decided. No, I said that's going to be up to the flavor of the week at whatever.
Starting point is 00:54:41 Okay, whatever is available. Yeah, whatever is available. How does she's can be finicky, so I don't want to guarantee a brand to anyone. We got Kemp's this week. Tell you, every day it's like I'm at the Pizza Ranch, man. Is the thing that Pizza Ranch is Kemp's too? Yeah, that's what that screenshot someone put in is.
Starting point is 00:54:58 And I eat it, I'm like, yeah, this is Pizza Ranch cottage cheese. So do you like Kemp's though? I actually do, I actually do. I think it's pretty good. It's one of the better ones, in my opinion. I do. I actually do. I think it's I think it's pretty good. It's one of the better ones. In my opinion, I might have to try that. I think I can source camps locally.
Starting point is 00:55:09 Yeah. Yeah, that should be around. Are you off the high V? No, I just haven't gone to high V lately. OK, so and then my wife's got the few times she's got groceries. She hasn't gone to high V. So, OK, yeah, I just got to wait on the sidelines until then. But what do you like better Kemp's or high B? Well, I I have a feeling I could be wrong here
Starting point is 00:55:29 I have a feeling that Kemp's is probably more consistent because I don't think you can be more inconsistent than high V 4% large curd But when it's good man, it hits it's it's it's my peak when it's the best But yeah, when it's not when it's not the best. It's still not bad. It's just not Super desirable, so would you take camps over a bad high V? Probably yeah, cuz when when bad high V It's just really really watery when it's bad and where would you rank Daisy compared to those two? Daisy actually gets my award for the most consistent cottage cheese. I don't know if I've ever had Daisy. The same that is not just a perfect carbon clone
Starting point is 00:56:13 of the one before. It's always the exact same. Uh, for sure. The bottom of the barrel is the house brand target Walmart. God, those ones are actually bad. Those are actually hard to eat. Those ones are so bad that Walmart one I do we don't even the target the good gather target one I can't it's not good like I I did get down the last tub and I'm like, yeah I don't think I need to do that anymore. That's that's have you tried the one that I think we said one time It's just called it's called like good. Yeah, you know, I have not tried that one yet I showed that on the I didn't really like it, but some people say they like it
Starting point is 00:56:44 So I might maybe it's a consent Maybe I need to give it another shot that I just had not a great version of it alright This just reminded me this just reminded me when you guys make When I'm not gonna say you guys here, I'm gonna give the credit where credits do when Mary makes lasagna in your house tanner Does she put cottage cheese in it? Oh? Yeah, we do put a little cottage cheese. I think yeah I just assumed everyone did that or knew about that and people were talking about this Kind of cheesy lasagna about this Just a cottage cheese weirdo thing like we're doing because of no talk about cottage cheese like that
Starting point is 00:57:20 That's I thought everyone did that because what are you supposed to use like ricotta cheese? I think that's what which is really expensive isn't it yeah? My and we just told me those had a cheese shorted somewhere And they were people were using ricotta like they're eating ricotta like how does cheese oh? I'm just looking here actually. I don't know what the cottage it actually comes in a tub just like cottage cheese I The cottage it actually comes in a tub just like cottage cheese. I Couldn't tell you exactly what I'm sure I've had that before at restaurants, but the cottage cheese and lasagna is great That's like s-tier
Starting point is 00:57:57 according to this According to Google there are both fresh cheeses made from cow's milk But have distinct differences in texture and flavor Ricotta is smooth and slightly sweet while cottage cheese is lumpier and tangier Not sure if I would use tangy Tangy I feel like yeah I'm out man I don't know what adjectives I would actually use to describe the flavor, but it wouldn't be tangy I would use a dairy products Describes it pretty well
Starting point is 00:58:32 Also ricotta cheese significantly More fat or smack girls. Yeah the cottage cheese you're looking at like roughly five grams of fat Ricotta you're looking at 13 so So almost three times as much fat. So right there, boom, off the list. It actually has more fat than protein. It's not a high protein food anymore. Yeah, cottage cheese and protein. Lasagna is good though.
Starting point is 00:58:56 Yeah, like we made lasagna this weekend while we're putting cottage cheese in. I'm like, oh, it's actually kind of funny. This is almost just like a cottage cheese hot dish at this point. Hey, yeah, just, This is almost just like a cottage cheese hot dish at this point Where it's just like I got a dress up this cottage cheese a little bit with noodles in between Like I'm getting tired of playing cottage cheese. Let me put some tomato sauce and hamburger and noodles in it I got cottage cheese pie now
Starting point is 00:59:23 Now you're speaking my language. So there's the cottage cheese eating contest. One other thing that I would say is in the past, there's been a certain amount of custom garments that my mother in law makes for the event this year, we're really ramping that up. I think those will primarily be for sale Friday at weigh in. So to primarily be for sale Friday at weigh in. So to mostly be for competitors. The reason they're going to be for sale then is just so people have to get the whole weekend to wear them. Some of them are so cool. People
Starting point is 00:59:54 are going to be wanting to wear them that weekend. Yeah, I believe so. I think we'll have a rack set up Friday morning that when we're you know at our booth where you can also purchase custom garments, there's a lot of cut off flannels that have Mastinomics tees sewn on to them, you know in various ways and they're really freaking cool and then there's some custom bags and There's also the custom hats True yeah, actually that's a good point. So that brings up another thing. Friday night party there's also going to be a silent auction. So two of the custom beer helmet cowboy hats will be silent auction. The other four will just be for sale. But two of those will be in the silent auction. Jake the snake is going to have some things in the silent auction. Jake the snake is going to have some things in the silent auction
Starting point is 01:00:46 and then I might pick out one or two of the custom merch items that will also be in the silent auction for Friday night. So I think there'll be a silent auction table for people to go to on Friday night is the thought there. So just another little thing in the sideshow that is the Friday night backyard party is the silent auction table. But yeah, what did you think of the beer? Oh, they look great. Like if people don't know we're talking about we their artisanal artisanal hats we have here. Last year we
Starting point is 01:01:17 had big Andy create the custom hockey masks that he painted and decorated in different ways and they all look super cool. Everyone had really good feedback on them. They were a high demand item. There's only a few of them. And so this year we had a, we commissioned some plastic drinking hats from him and, and they fit their big like fit on your head. Yeah. If you have a jump jumbo one bow head and you're like like you can never find hats that fit you It's probably not gonna fit you if you have a normally average large head. It'll fit you. Yeah, and yeah, he went full full
Starting point is 01:01:55 Hand-painting crazy designs. So yeah, they turned out good. Yeah, there's one that's almost like a macho man Randy Savage vibe There's a crew specific one a lift hardly easy easy a lift all kinds of them so I think Four of those will be for sale two of them will be in the silent auction tape at the silent auction booth on the Friday night party um Tanner I don't know if you know this but we have a guest that has arrived We want to let them have a special guests. I suppose we better let them in all right. Let's do it Hello guest that has arrived. We want to let them have a special guest. I suppose we better let them in. All right, let's do it. Hello. Oh, God, there he is. Dude, I just ran down here. I didn't even got all my cameras on yet. It's the one that's
Starting point is 01:02:34 going on. That one's working right there. It's not staying up. I've heard that one before. That's what Mary said. Hold on. How do I get this thing on my computer, dude? Am I on the internet? Yeah. Oh, you're on it. Can you swear on this thing? We make it a special exception. Since you're here, we're gonna allow swearing tonight. Geez, I didn't know we were just jumping right in, dude. How long you get? Oh, this is like what our two or three over an hour already. Holy shit
Starting point is 01:03:05 Well, let me get a drink. Hold on boys. We got a special drink here. You ever had this? Oh, oh We've been drinking these beers all night. We figured we're about six ahead of you already Well, listen boy, I'd I drank a little bit not much just a couple pops in the last podcast I was on Had to go to that callous's house. How many podcasts? How many podcasts are you recording? This is my fifth podcast dude. I'm hit the fucking record brother. A goddamn record marathon of podcasts. My favorite Chicago podcaster. Whoa, here we go. There's a good one. You, you big city Chicago guys really know how to podcast. Can you see my eyes?
Starting point is 01:03:50 Now we can see the fire behind you too, it looks beautiful So what's the story we heard you might be making a little trip To the West here. So we are going out West to a little place called Aberdeen South Dakota is that the name of it? You come here all the time now. You're like a regular. We're going to have to go to the apartment twice in a year. Damn county, man.
Starting point is 01:04:14 You're going to show up to the bar. They're like, oh, he's back. You got kicked out of here last month, brother. Yeah, you went to you went to the zoo last time too, didn't you? Yeah, we did and Big Boss, man, I think went home with a transsexual that night. Did you hear about that? I thought he went home with Bryce and Lou.
Starting point is 01:04:36 Hold on a second, why does it say Karen Finn in the corner of my name? You guys fuck with me here? I actually thought, I was wondering if she was coming on because that was the name that popped up. Yeah, I don't know how to run the zoom. That's what took me a little longer to that this zoom thing. I don't know how to get in.
Starting point is 01:04:53 And then I had to ask her how to get to the email because on the computer, I don't know any of that stuff. That side angle. There we go. It is. Yeah. So it's kind of it's kind of weird, but she she talked me through it. So this time you're not bringing big boss man though you're bringing the whole barbell family.
Starting point is 01:05:10 Aren't you? Yeah, the little barbells the big barbells. This is the camera's not seeing up. You got the whole Finn clan the whole barbell clan will be in routes in a camper to the great not Midwest the West. Yeah, no, we're the we're the we're the western edge of Midwest and Western North area. No, no, no, we went over this several times, but you are not Midwest. You guys are past the arch the gateway to the West. You go out West River and then you'll know what the west is. It's a little different out there.
Starting point is 01:05:50 I don't know if you Chicago city slickers know what the Midwest really is. Get out of here. I'm so far out of this Chicago you couldn't even imagine, man. We do things a little different out in the country out here. I've seen where you're at. You're in Sioux Falls. That's a hell of a city, dude. Yeah. A little, little slower pace of life around here.
Starting point is 01:06:11 God, that was fast as hell out there. I mean, I know you got a guy out there named double B with a double D's big bright, I was just there to deal. You refuse to let him come to your house to train. That's what he told me. He could come whenever he wants. I was actually just at deal you refuse to let him come to your house to train. That's what he told me He could come whenever you want. I was actually just at his house two days ago You just keep on to his house, but you never invited me your His his house has the mojo. We got to go to his house. He's got the he's got the perfect little suiz Jim
Starting point is 01:06:38 Yeah, it is a nice gym. I have been in part. I've been a part of that gym I mean I left well boss man left some semen in that gym. I Know that for sure. Right after he ate that whole jack pizza. That's Bryce's best friend. It's my best friend? I know it is, they bonded big time. I don't know if they bonded as much as him and Lou did
Starting point is 01:06:57 in those crash pads in your gym, but. Yeah, so you don't have to sleep in the gym again this time. You're bringing a camper with you, so you don't have to. That is true. I still might be sleeping in the gym again this time. You're bringing a camper with you, so you don't have to. And it's true. I still might be sleeping in the gym. Just for old times sake. Yeah, it's kind of hard to come through that town and not sleep in that gym, you know,
Starting point is 01:07:13 and a lot of good times in there. What what day are you guys showing up? We will be showing up the day of the weigh ins. Oh, OK, perfect. We'll be there Friday, probably. Well, what times weigh ins? Oh, the first start at what? 9am? Yeah, there's like morning ones. And then there's afternoon weigh ins also. So if you can have your booth set up by afternoon noon weigh ins, that'd be the goal in weigh ins
Starting point is 01:07:38 four o'clock. Something like that. Yeah, yeah. It's like I would say we would be there probably about noon or one o'clock. Yeah, that'll be perfect. Roll through town, get the get the old set up, go in the booth. And I think Tommy, they're staying at Wiley. Oh, there you go. Yeah. So which is really close to the venue. Actually, you're like you could pretty much walk there.
Starting point is 01:08:00 Yeah, you're less than a mile away. Yeah. No. Yeah, you're really, really close. Oh, shit. Maybe we'll walk there. Yeah, you're less than a mile away. Yeah, I know. Yeah, you're really, really close. Oh shit, maybe we'll walk there then. You could. I mean, it's not... Maybe let the 12-year-old drive. I mean, South Dakota. That's pretty much allowed. A less than 30-second drive, but yeah.
Starting point is 01:08:16 There's no way we're staying that close. Are you serious? Yeah, it's really, really close. No, we're not in a hotel. We're in a campground. I'm saying the hotel is the closest that hotel is like the closest hotel is basically the closest thing to that campground. Yeah. Oh, man. Yeah. So you're right there. Barbell came through again. Yeah. Yeah. So you guys will get here Friday, set up the booth, run the booth for Wayans a little bit. And then after
Starting point is 01:08:41 Friday, you got to be ready to go because the Friday night party is no joke. Now, where because the Friday night party is no joke Now where is this Friday night party? That's in my backyard Your backyard is hoisting. Yeah, how many people are there's a lot of people there last year, right? There's about 200 last year Yeah in your backyard It's fall Country around here. Yeah, you know, you don't your picture when you think of town, your picture at home Chicago, this is different.
Starting point is 01:09:10 I picture like a normal don't you look like a subdivision or some shit? It's just it is just part of town. We're kind of on the edge of town though. So I have a fairly big backyard and God, this is gonna be epic. Yeah, the backyard party is a lot of fun. Maybe I should set my booth up in your backyard instead of the fucking weigh-in area. So you'll like it. There's other activities on Friday night. One of them, there's an eating contest on Friday night. It's actually, you might want to get in on it. There's a cottage cheese eating contest on Friday night in the backyard. What do you guys keep talking about is cottage cheese? I don't catch you every episode. I did catch the last one though. I didn't like it. Yeah. Have you ever, do you ever eat cottage cheese?
Starting point is 01:09:46 I hate cottage cheese. Oh, you are missing out. That is one of the things I absolutely hate. That's nature's- People think there's a lot of protein in it and shit. Yeah. Oh, it's the perfect macros. Disgusting. I'll tell you why.
Starting point is 01:09:57 You wanna know why it's disgusting? In eighth grade health class, I made a poster saying that if you got this one type of sexually transmitted disease, cottage cheese would come out of your cock and there was pictures of cottage cheese coming out of it, never ate it again. Turned me way off on cottage cheese. I think we got to get you in on the cottage cheese eating contest. I swear to God, I'd probably throw up. That's how much I eat cottage cheese. Sounds great. I'd probably
Starting point is 01:10:20 start eating it, just vomiting everywhere. You'll be disqualified if you throw up immediately disqualified. Uh, double big Bryce could probably handle that. Yeah, he didn't sign. I think he's taking the meat too seriously because this is the night before the night before the meat and I don't think he's gonna he's got a he's got 2000 pounds the total. So I don't think he's gonna uh, he barely drank on the fourth of July. I so he I know he's taking it very serious and he's getting a special singlet made. Actually, it might be being made right now as we speak.
Starting point is 01:10:50 So is it a Huck Finn barbell singlet or what is it? It's a Huck Finn barbell special. Okay. We'll have to wait and see the singlet. There won't be a tramp stamp on it. Well, just make sure our logo is the biggest logo on it. Then you can put it on everyone. That's why I asked for the new logo.
Starting point is 01:11:05 That you sent it to me today for the word. We told them once he gets that singlet in and you're done doing your stuff on it, send it to us and we're going to reprint over the top of it. Be fucking hilarious. It's a giant massonomic logo right over the top of my. Like a fucking weird NASCAR. Oh, whoa. What what are you Tommy? What are you doing?
Starting point is 01:11:30 What you got a new setup? There's a dog behind you last show. That was very relaxing. He's he's under me right now. He's that's good. That's got a weird on him. It's I've tweaked a little. I still got posters.
Starting point is 01:11:42 I got Mastodon mix posters. I got to hang up. They're sitting here. I just haven't got like you got the one. I got masonomics posters. I gotta hang up. They're sitting here I just yeah, I like you got the one pillow and then you got this go be light in the corner Yeah, well, but it crops in see when we talk it crops about to here. So this is all you see is just this I get it. Yeah, no, we widened out. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah Do I do like that masonomics pillow, but that dog is very relaxing and And the last, the last, he's passed out directly under me right now. Drunk?
Starting point is 01:12:06 No, just, just tired. He's just getting on to one too many crispy boys. The last, uh, episode, you guys said the huck fin cut, whether a tank or whatever you got the cutoff shirt was a B. Are you kidding me, man? How could you say that? I mean, are you thinking workout shirt? You think it's C or what do you think? that? I mean that is the ultimate workout shirt. Do you think it's C or what do you think?
Starting point is 01:12:28 I would definitely, I mean that's an A. I like how you guys are like I've never been worn a cut off shirt. Are you kidding me? Never worn a cut off shirt. It's been a long time. You guys are city boys. Well we do the Dakota cut. We cut one sleeve off. Yeah, yeah, the Dakota cut We cut one sleeve off
Starting point is 01:12:47 It's like a belly cut with one sleeve off we're when care when Karen's here I think that's what we got to do is get her to cut a few people's in the Dakota cut We're just one sleeve cut off. She'd definitely be up to that. Yeah, I'll take the Dakota cut actually what the fuck is the Dakota cut? No, that's what we're gonna do We're gonna sell shirts at our booth and say oh if you take it over to Karen, she'll cut. She'll do the free for you. Are you fucking kidding me? All right, we'll do it.
Starting point is 01:13:14 Dakota cut it is. I mean, I was very upset when you guys said the cutoff. Sure. I mean, come on. That's what, how about the rest of the, the rest of the list? I thought, well, first off, I'll tell you what I 100% agree with the I think it was like the first one with the gloves. Oh, gloves is gotta be the dumbest thing in the world. Why would you wear fingerless gloves? Yeah, I never
Starting point is 01:13:39 got that. What about jock straps? Did you ever did you have to wear jock straps when you were in when we first started? We're supposed to wear jock straps? Did you ever have to wear jock straps when you were in? When we first started, I think we were supposed to wear jock straps. Yeah, I feel like that was just like that like line happened. Borderline. Yeah, it was just changing around our age, you know, like. With like the Under Armour shit. Yep. Right.
Starting point is 01:13:57 Which that's what I wore. Right. But I do remember like I think sixth or seventh grade jock straps might have been in somewhere in that era. Yeah. But yes, I know that was funny as hell too. Like who wears a jockstrap? And that's so stupid. And like when would you ever unless you were playing catcher? Right? I never wore a cup in any sport unless I was I never did. I would you. How could you wear a cup in
Starting point is 01:14:19 football? You couldn't run. Oh no. That's a man. You weren't a cup while you're running. Yeah. Well, anymore, and this would be different from when you played too, like we wore these big thigh pads, pretty big knee pads. We had this butt pad. They don't wear any of that shit anymore, Hartley. It's super thin and small.
Starting point is 01:14:37 If they wear a knee pad, it's literally like cut down. Why is it? I used to have a cowboy collar. It looked like it was up here. Me too. Like the giant one. I had a McDavid cowboy collar too. And is this a cowboy collar? It looked like up here. Me too. I had a giant one. I had a McDavid cowboy collar too. And then with the cowboy collar, you could either put your Jersey. I always had to jersey over. It was the way to
Starting point is 01:14:55 go. Nothing made you look bigger than a jersey over David cowboy collar. I have a picture on your summer. It looks ridiculous. Like nobody wears that shit anymore. Yeah, I came in and I'm when you're you know, you're getting checking out pads for the year or whatever I'm like, yeah, I haven't have a neck from the One of those yeah, you got any bigger ones Biggest one you have I was trying to always look for that one Brian Cox used to wear he's the middle. Yeah for the Bears. It was trying to always look for that one. Brian Cox used to wear. He's the middle. Yeah, it's a bear. It was like a board behind your head. There was a guy for the jets that had one of those two. I think it was Brian Cox. The same guy fucking
Starting point is 01:15:36 ended up going to the jets. Okay, that's who. Yeah, that was literally like it was like a bench press pad that he was shoved by the back. Yeah, I'm looking at pictures right now. For real, it looks like a bench. It was awesome. It's a bench pad. Yeah, it was like a Thompson fat pad that he put behind his neck. I'm like, this guy. It was insane, yeah.
Starting point is 01:15:56 I always wanted one of those. Could never get one, man. And then I always had like the nice hard-ass chinstrap, that giant one. Yep, instead of the dust. I called that the shitty ones were diaper chin straps where like, where you know, like the corners stuck out, the shitty little thin ones.
Starting point is 01:16:11 I hated those. Yeah, those sucked. Well, you know who still wore that really thin, thin one was Brett Favre and Rodgers, both where they're really, not the ones you're talking about, but they're very tiny little. Yeah, it's just basically a little piece of leather
Starting point is 01:16:24 is all it is Yeah, like where it's almost like just one butt snap. Yes side two. Yes. It's not a double snap I remember getting the double snap one. I'm like man. This is badass. I double snap them up I always thought too I never had one cuz I didn't it could you could probably just walk into a hundred place and buy him now but the Mouthguards that had like the lip guard on it. It was like that giant thing But the mouth guards that had like the lip guard on it. It was like that giant thing The pacifier one
Starting point is 01:16:53 And then visors were just coming out when I was getting out of football too And I'm like never we couldn't get one of those but now people, you know high school kids have visors all the time Oh, yeah, like the fucking fancy ass ones. Yeah, looks like a goddamn truck. I got fucking windshield. Yes Yes, once. Yeah, looks like a goddamn truck. I got a fucking windshield. Yes. Yeah. Like you have all kinds of cool shit. I mind if I had like a fucking like flag across it or something. Yeah, something insane. Get PIPER to sponsor it.
Starting point is 01:17:14 So do you got any new anything new you're selling at the booth for in? Yes, we do. What do you sell? I don't know if you guys ever heard about a home gym nerd shirt. You motherfuckers You didn't copy us on that Yes, I did. I can't believe you guys man. I mean I can it's hilarious And it's just so weird that you guys came out with that shirt and like you didn't know I was coming out with it It's said it. And then go ahead, what did you guys message me the next day or something?
Starting point is 01:17:47 I think I even called you because I'm like, I don't wanna just text him this because he's not gonna believe me. I'm like, I gotta call him otherwise he's not gonna think that I'm telling the truth. And I'm like, yeah, we got. Because it was, we had heard you say home gym nerd several times.
Starting point is 01:18:04 But it was finally one episode of a podcast to you. I don't know if it was you and Callis or what it was. And you said, yeah, I'm a, I think it was probably you and Jacob Ross or something. Yeah. Cause I remember Jacob Ross said you need that on a shirt. And I remember I messaged Tanner. I'm like, Jacob Ross said he needs to put that on a shirt. I'm like, I hope he forgets that because we have the shirts like that are being
Starting point is 01:18:23 printed pretty soon and then it was like probably two next later three weeks. Yeah. Yeah, we got a home gym nerd shirt coming out I point the shirts had been made. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah your guys is that's that's what you said Yeah, you're like well, when should we drop my mic? Yeah, it doesn't matter. You know, yeah I said I was gonna drop it at your meet right? I wanted it to be there first So that's that's where the home gym nerds are going to be at. You know, this is the perfect time. So that will be for sale first at our meet here this. Yes, that will be available there. First
Starting point is 01:18:55 that will be there. The flags. The first of the flags will be will be the first first chance to those there. I think there's some other shirt Karen's working on. Maybe there's two two other shirts that are not on the site yet. And then a couple of our best sellers. What do you bring in? I partied with Huck Finn Barbell. Yeah, those will those are you could only had been able to get those like one or two other times. That's the tie dye one or? Yeah, yeah, I've got the only chance you could ever get is if you actually are with me. I've never been for sale on the internet. I've kind of been thinking we should steal that tie-dye shirt and print something on that.
Starting point is 01:19:36 Hey, there we go. Yeah, I know. I party with the Mastinomics guys. We should make this. That would be awesome. You guys came up with the tie-dye shirt. The same shirt. Yeah, I'll send you the logo. You guys came up with the tie-dye shirt. Yeah, I'll send you the logo. You guys use the exact same logo. Just put Mastinomics instead of Huck Finn. Like Crossout Huck Finn.
Starting point is 01:19:52 Yeah, you just buy all of them and they cross them out with Mastinomics. Yes, you guys just got a new shirt here. We did not party the Huck Finn. We part of the Mastinomics guys. We've got a new boob. A new boob cup coming out. We part of the massonomics guys. We've got a new boot new boob cup coming up coming out for the event here too. I bet you had a lot of shit you guys been posting here. Yep. Very what do you call that? What'd you say it was very what's the word I'm looking for? Oh, lift hard, live easy. No, not that word country. No way off. One time thing like, oh, like exclusive. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Yeah, we got a lot of cool shit like that cowboy hats and shit. Yeah, the cowboy hats and we got a whole bunch of you're going to want
Starting point is 01:20:38 one of these. I think we got a whole bunch of custom cut off flannels with like art with like our shirts sewn into them and stuff like that they're pretty cool. I saw those and I've I've thought about doing these for fucking 10 years since we started was those like beer helmet styles. So I want to really should have a who'd you who'd you go through with those? Because I looked into this one company and I was like, Fuck that. paying that much now this yeah this these were We just had a local artist guy. He like hand-painted each one of these so so they are actually literally like just all one-offs of
Starting point is 01:21:16 By the shit off the line and then he just bought I think he bought him off like Amazon or where? Like eight hats or whatever and then all of a sudden, a month later, these hats show up. So they are really cool. They're really cool. Yeah, they're pretty freaking sweet. Yeah, we do have a lot of exclusions. Because everyone loves that, you know, because it's almost like that Friday night party is almost like a competition to see who can have the craziest.
Starting point is 01:21:42 Like last year, Bryce came in his bib overalls with you know, only one one side of it buttoned and no shirt underneath and it's kind of a costume party Friday night keep that in mind is a costume. Yeah, Friday night. I'll have to dust off the old man thong man I'll be ready. And like the bar Saturday the bar so you know we get we pretty much get the private treatment at the zoo until about 11 o'clock we have the entire the entire have the entire meat goes to the zoo. Matt last year was in his singlet there.
Starting point is 01:22:11 Yeah, there was guys in their singlets, all the guys are wearing their short silkies. It's our bar for the first four hours. Now, how big did it go from one year to the second year? Did it get a lot bigger? Yeah. Crowd-wise or people-wise, is it growing each year? Did it get a lot bigger? Yeah, like the like crowd wise or people wise is it growing each year? Yeah, yeah, it's getting I mean, competitors wise that first year, we only had 60 in the second year, we had like 110. So you know, doubles.
Starting point is 01:22:34 Yeah. But we could have had more sign up the first year, but we just capped it at that. Yeah. So this year, there's a we didn't really increase, we didn't want that many more. So there's still just 115 competitors. But um, I don't really increase. We didn't want that many more. So there's still just 115 competitors. But I don't know. It's hard to say. It definitely was bigger the second year. I assume it'll be a little bigger again this year.
Starting point is 01:22:53 The crowd only ever gets so big, too. There's only so many locals. But the thing when you got 115 competitors, there's those 115. People coming with them. There's at least one person with every single one of them Yeah, I mean there's still there's still like 200 plus spectators, which for a powerlifting meet is quite a few, you know Yeah, especially in South Dakota. Yeah, the first powerlifting meet Tanner and I ever did there was like four spectators at it Like it was it was empty. Yeah
Starting point is 01:23:19 Yeah Like a local powerlifting meet, especially out there somewhere. There's probably nobody. First thing we do is in Rapid City, no one else, there was no one there. Christ. Yeah. Yeah, so isn't it crazy how far like massonomics has even come?
Starting point is 01:23:35 I mean, I was talking to Karen about that today when I got home from work, and we were talking about what we're bringing and talking about the trip and where to get new tires today on the fucking RV or all that shit And I'm like, you know these motherfuckers I met these guys back in like 2015 or so Still remember I was taking a dump and I pull up Instagram on my phone and Brandon Cole goes this one's for Huck Finn barbell. And what was he, what was he benching or squatting Tanner?
Starting point is 01:24:07 He just had a beer in the gym and like took a drink and he posted on Instagram and I'm messaging Tanner like, this is the craziest thing ever. Huck Finn reposted Brandon. It's so crazy. Yeah. That would have been probably in like 2014 or 2015 right around there. Yeah. Yeah.
Starting point is 01:24:23 It's just wild, man. You guys have grown a lot, dude, especially the last couple years Yeah, there's a guy at my work. I don't want to say too much about my job But came up to me and said hey, did you my buddies listen to this? These guys are called massonomics They mentioned your name the other day You gotta be shit me man. They mentioned Hawk Fin's name. Yeah. You made it. Yeah. They're saying I finally made it. Man, I mentioned my name. You got mentioned by Casanova and you're like, you fucking
Starting point is 01:24:55 idiot. I know and I'm like, stupid cocksucker. That's so good. That's the thing that's our YouTube is going really good right now. Like we had always had YouTube and put the podcast episodes on YouTube and stuff But over the last year and a half or even even now really just last six months It's really that's that's helping us out quite a bit. That's been growing quite I think it's that fucking home gym shit, dude Like everything you guys have been doing is home gym and a lot of fucking people like I've always said There's home gym nerds out there and they're very
Starting point is 01:25:24 gym and a lot of fucking people like I've always said, there's home gym nerds out there and they're very into that home gym stuff and you guys tour other people's home gyms. People fucking love that kind of something. There's a big niche in that. Yep. You're fucking hitting that niche. Yup. The tours are the tours are pretty sweet right now. So we got a lot more of those coming. What's a well and then you guys have been what you've been saying is when you guys do your podcast episodes, you get a good thumbnail and a good title and a good topic to go off of. Right. And that fucking hicks the viewers in. Now you're getting new viewers, which is smart. Yeah. Instead of like when Kalis puts the let's
Starting point is 01:25:55 get stupid show up. It's just like, like this picture we see here. LGS, LGS 78. Click on that. Click on it. Well,'t know why you click on it. Wolf. Okay, perfect timing and perfect example. Here's the question for you. What is your definition of a home gym nerd? Because that probably is going to be in the title of the topic. So what is a home gym? So what? So what do you think?
Starting point is 01:26:19 What do you you know, you like that phrase, and we like that too. So what? What do you think a home gym nerd is? I think there's two kinds of home gym nerds actually. You know what I mean? I think there's actually a home gym nerd who's into working out obviously. Right. But doesn't really look like he works out.
Starting point is 01:26:38 Like he looks like kind of a nerd, but has the best equipment money could buy and is into every little detail every different Knows everything about when this plate was made or what deep dish plate this is or this bench or this new Leg curl machine or what brands coming out with this like that's the official home gym nerd in my book a guy who doesn't look Like he works out but has the greatest equipment You could buy and knows everything the ins and out of everything is that home gym can't every year dude when I looked I looked I watched your videos I watched your video about the home gym Khan and I watched Coops yeah he's
Starting point is 01:27:15 the king of the home gym nerds right that guy I can't believe how pipe that guy is just talking about weights it doesn't look like he's lifted away his life. And then there's all these other guys. When I clicked on it, now all these guys are popping up like, uh, I'm trying to think of some of the names. Glock. Yeah, that's true. I was going to say that him and his wife are like tandem. Tons of views like on his home gym nerd stuff, man. It's just insane. And I mean, I do like to watch a good home gym nerd show once in a while as well, like the rest of us. It's good. You got to know there is, you know, there is I do like to know
Starting point is 01:27:53 other shit that's out there as well, man. But it's just insane how big that market has become. It's become like I said, like beer, how that IPA beer got so popular. Like all these guys started drinking beer out of nowhere, like all in their nerds about it. Like it's so funny, man. So you said that's kind of one kind of home gym nerd then though, but you'd say there's just, I would also say there's also like the meathead type of home gym nerd as well. You know, I mean, I myself, you know, I hate to say this, but I'm a nerd as well. You know,
Starting point is 01:28:22 when it comes to that kind of stuff, right? You know, whether you're, I was going to act like, you guys watch Revenge of the Nerds, you know, the ending and he comes down there and he's like, you know, I found out something that I said, I'm a nerd. I'm pretty proud of that. That's you. You're like, Oh, I'm a nerd. I just found out I'm actually home gym nerd myself
Starting point is 01:28:40 because I love fucking decorating my home gym. I love getting new equipment. I love all the home gym nerd stuff as well. I think I'm just jealous. I'm really, I'm like when ogre turns into the nerd, like I think at this event, I'm going to turn into the nerd. I got one the whole time. I was just, I was like a self-hating one, you know? I became the worst kind of nerd of all, a self-hating one.
Starting point is 01:29:10 Yeah. Tommy, what's your definition of a home gym nerd? I think that's fair. I guess, what do you think, Tommy? I think that fits it pretty well. I mean, there's the nerd part of just knowing the specs and gear and stories and. Yeah, nerding out about it. Yeah, just nerding out about all the specs, really. Like the specs and gear and stories and. Yeah, nerd out about it.
Starting point is 01:29:25 Yeah, just nerd out about all the specs, really. Like that is one component of it. And then I agree. There's also the the nerd component of like training to, you know, like it's right. It's yeah. I mean, we've talked about a lot like there is a balance. I mean, yeah, your gym, do whatever you want. Like you just want to nerd out on equipment. But in my opinion, and Tanner and I said this too,
Starting point is 01:29:45 like it's just, the equipment's way more fun when you're actually like using it, like, you know, in the way that it was meant to be used, like pushing it to the limits, like loading another plate on, like going hard. Like that's when it, to me, is the most fun to use your equipment is when you're actually training hard. It's so good to get a fucking new piece of equipment in.
Starting point is 01:30:03 Yeah, so, oh, it's the best. Like it's the best thing to get new shit. Elevate everything. It's like a to get a fucking new piece of equipment in. And yeah, it's like, oh, it's the best. Like it's a new shit. Elevate everything. Yes. It's like a new car or something. I know it's like you have to train that. Whatever you like. Yeah, that's what I got to live.
Starting point is 01:30:14 And you're like, yeah, another check mark on the collection. Okay, what's the next one? Now? Yeah, now. Yeah, what? Moving on. What am I going to get next? So have you added anything new lately?
Starting point is 01:30:23 That the last new thing I got was from rep fitness that cable machine and I've yeah I mean I do cable stuff here and there but I've done way more cable exercise than ever have since I've gotten it like I've done Rarely do chest exercise on a cable machine. I've put a bench up there I've done different style of benching off the cable machine. I've done flies off the cable machine I've done low flies off benching off the cable machine. I've done flies off the cable machine. I've done low flies off of it, high flies, mid flies. So is yours the one that's built in? Is yours the one that's built into your rack? No, you have the film.
Starting point is 01:30:54 Okay, so is yours plate loaded or it's selectors? No, it's the selectorized one. Okay. Very nice. Yeah, that is very nice. It's the newest one they came out with. Yeah, I can never remember what the hell they call those. I can't either. It's either the Aries or the Athena, I think. It's one of those two, isn't it?. Yeah, I cannot I can never remember what the hell they call those. Aries or the Athena, I
Starting point is 01:31:06 think it's one of those two, isn't it? Aries, I think. I think it's a white one asked for the white one. You're a home gym nerd. He's got a pegboard in the back. Oh, yeah, got his that's a telltale sign. Yeah, got all got all my you know, what do you call those those pieces for the cable machine? All your attachments. Yeah. Attachments in the back. Yeah, that's another telltale sign. You start to get more attachments than
Starting point is 01:31:34 you could ever use. I know I got a big box of attachments. Some people sent me some weird ones too. Stuff I didn't even know how to use. So what else? So the meat to Saturday? What are you going to do during the meat? You think just shake babies and I mean, whatever you guys want me to do, I'm going to sell at the booth. Yeah, my girl, like, my girls have never I was telling Tony is on the phone today. My girls have never been to an event ever. Really? Oh, yeah. And they are so excited. Yeah, they get to go to event and they want to like
Starting point is 01:32:07 help sell and they're like, that's fine. They want to do. They want to have their own separate booths they're talking about doing like next to ours with like lemonade and beer stand. I don't know. That's a good idea. It's they're getting crazy. And they that's like like what's funny is they're looking forward to that part more than our trip like we have a two week trip we're doing we're spending a day and a half it's like our whole trip right now is they're just thinking about that coming to the meat and you're going to like the Rockies yeah then we're going to
Starting point is 01:32:38 the rock we got all this shit going on the Rocky Mountains going to Deadwood I've been trying to tell them all about, you know, fucking Calamity Jane and fucking Wildman Hickok. They want to hear anything about it. All they want to hear is Aberdeen, South Dakota and that song. I played that song. What would Huck Finn do? Yeah. Yeah. This is a real guy. Yep. This is a very famous song girl. Once we get to South Dakota, that's all we're playing. Yeah. Lifting and drinking is all we know. Exactly. I asked myself, what would hook me in, dude?
Starting point is 01:33:11 My strength co-plates are made in the USA. Yeah, that's so good, dude. Yeah, it's so good. I played that when we drove in last time. That's all we played. Yeah, we'll be listening to that this week. It'll get played a few times. It's fucking awesome, man. Yeah. So yeah, they're looking listening to that this week. So it'll get played a few times. It's fucking awesome, man.
Starting point is 01:33:25 So yeah, they're looking forward to that shit. So are you going to be able to drink any brewskis then, or are you going to have to? Oh, yeah. Well, I've already told Mrs. Bartle she is a DD. I mean, if we're driving anywhere, you're going to have to drive because I have. This is a vent for Huck Finn.
Starting point is 01:33:41 I mean, I'm going to have to drink. Usually, if we're drinking somewhere, I will, you know, be the DD. Well, kind of the DD, right? Because Mrs. Barbell, she's a woman. That's just what a man does, you know? I'd never let Mrs. Barbell ever drive, especially, I mean, she can't drive. Kidding me? Especially my truck. I think I'm gonna let her drive that truck. My God. With the camper? She can't drive that. I don't know that she's gonna be able to go to a couple of these events and not partake I know Around that are that there's a lot of people to give rides around though, too
Starting point is 01:34:17 Yeah, there that's yeah There's a lot of people to give rides and then we have a shuttle service going from the bar to so yeah on Saturday night There's a shuttle going from like the bar to the rides and then we have a shuttle service going from the bar to so yeah on Saturday night there's a shuttle going from like the bar to the hotel and stuff so we might have to be getting a hotel room it looks like well your the hotel room is a half mile from your campground so exactly i don't think we'll be able to make it a half mile and then you said uh Tanner your wife was i heard her in the background of the day which which I then called Mrs. Barbell. I said, Hey, they're looking for you to drink, not me. They don't care about me. Yeah. I go, I can't wait to meet her. Bye bye bye bye bye. Yeah. Cause oh yeah. We didn't see Karen at the Arnold this year or something. We didn't see Karen
Starting point is 01:34:58 at the Arnold. So we got, we got some drinks to catch up on then. No, she right now, I swear to God is in the fucking shop because I had to pass through here and grab the computer. She's in there fucking making shirts, drinking beer right now. Dragging ink, pulling ink. She's pulling ink. And she's got a lot of work to do on these home home gym nerd shirts, which I don't I ever really said what it is. But there was two versions of it. Yeah, what is it with the
Starting point is 01:35:28 second version? Because I thought it was way better. I can't blend it out of the bag. This comes out a few days before before you'll be here. So let's just say there is an erection on it. At some point. There is there is an erection on it because it's a home gym nerd shirt and I think it turned out fucking awesome man. Is it is it just that picture that Keith made of the no no. I wanted to do that. Yeah. Like that was kind of what I was going to go with was three. I told you at the revenge of the nerd style
Starting point is 01:36:02 and then Mrs. Barbell's like let's just do the exact picture Keith did? I'm like, nobody's gonna wanna buy that. And then I'm like, well, maybe, and then- Is the Revenge of the Nerds cover, and it was like, I think my face and your face tanner in Karen's face. Yeah. Like Karen was on both sides.
Starting point is 01:36:18 And we were on the ground, like you guys were steppin' on us. Yeah. Yeah. Like the Alphas, you know? Yeah. Which was hilarious. And I did tell her maybe we should go with like a picture of that for the art for the art of the economics thing, which I'm not sure if she, I don't know. She's got a bunch of shit going on.
Starting point is 01:36:34 Who knows that might be part of it too, but that would be funny. God, that was hilarious. Man. The honey cut is on everything too. He listens to every podcast. I mean that guy is the king of the home gym nerds too. He's another guy. Definitely top one of the top guys. Home gym. Yes. 100%. I saw him in the background. I don't know why you didn't put them in your video. What happened? Well, you know, I can't hit this guy. My video, what was going on there? We did that on purpose. I said, Hey, I'm going to Rick. We're going to record at the rogue booth with this guy I'm like just uh go we talked to him beforehand because he was gonna be on the video and then he's like fuck to tell you the truth I don't really know about this stuff, but Joey here kind of knows everything you better. I've got a real nervous didn't he?
Starting point is 01:37:16 He really didn't he didn't know the details. So I'm like, oh just everywhere we go just be in the background everywhere we go, just be in the background messing with stuff. No, I thought, I thought, man, he's probably pissed. He wasn't part of it. He's just trying to follow you around. He was in on it. Oh, God. Yeah, how was that home gym nerd of convenience?
Starting point is 01:37:35 There was way, it was way bigger this year than last year. It was way bigger. Like more people or just a bigger spot, more stuff? Both, there was like double the people probably and double the stuff too. So and the competitions were way better. You know, they're strong man competition and powerlifting. It all seemed quite a bit bigger. I, I kind of got a feeling it's going to keep growing. Last year, you know, the one you went to, it didn't seem all, you know, it was fine.
Starting point is 01:38:02 It was what it was. But this year I was really impressed where I'm like, okay, this is really growing into something now. Yeah, I didn't think last year was like I was into it. I'm like, how is this going to like survive? It's like there's that many people there to buy. Right. Last year, I was kind of the opinion. I don't really see what, you know, wouldn't be worth us to have to drive all the way to there to set up a booth. If we're talking about having a booth, but this year after going to it, I'm like, I could definitely see us having a booth there and it being worth it. For real? Yeah. Like I it, it, it seemed quite a bit different this year.
Starting point is 01:38:37 Did they didn't have that, like lady stealing everybody's beer, did they? No, but you weren't there pushing the limit. So I don't know what Yeah, I mean, that was awesome what the last year I was fucking came back with like more beer and I was hiding at places and this lady kept stealing it from me. And I was like MC and something a deadlifting competition. Yeah. I mean, who start? Was that the guy? Was that the head guy? I don't even
Starting point is 01:38:58 know. Oh, gave me the mic. I don't know who gave you the mic for sure. Jake is Jake runs it, but it could have been it was probably like Andrew or yeah someone else. Yeah, someone else that was doing like the strong man stuff. I bet was the first thing I think. I don't think it was the head guy. I'm not really sure. Who is that guy? Jake's is big nerd. He's kind of behind the scenes a little bit. of behind the scenes a little bit. Huh? She doesn't show his face much.
Starting point is 01:39:28 Jake the snake. Jake the snake Roberts. Yeah. What was the highlight of the home gym nerd show? Oh, we've got a lot of good content, so that was kind of my favorite part. But we went out Friday night. I was I flew in Friday morning and had to fly out Saturday afternoon. So it was really fast. She's we went out Friday night and went to the bar there and it was that was fun. You know, I was like
Starting point is 01:39:52 fifth Street or fifth Avenue. They still have that there. Was it Louisville? It's like an alley almost like or something with all the bars. That might be what I was. I actually don't even remember. It was like one strip of shit. Yeah. The one where we were at was a very happening spot in the hotel. And we were kind of like right off the river. That's right there. It was cool. But I was just there. So such a short amount of time. But that one night was it was fun. There was like I said, there were so many more people around this year.
Starting point is 01:40:20 Like when you walked around, even from like hotel to restaurant, where you're going, there was all these people felt started, started to feel a little like the Arnold. You know what the Arnold when you get done and you're out at the bar and everyone you see is someone that was at the Arnold. It's kind of starting to feel like that a little bit. I mean, it's not not as big as the Arnold in that way, but it's just getting bigger and bigger. Yeah. Like I started to make that comparison and some, but they have a lot of big names there, man. Fuck. Yeah. That's why I was surprised how they got all these big names to go there. You had rogue, you had rep. Yeah. I don't, I don't know. I don't think any of them will miss it anymore. Like I think as far as the
Starting point is 01:40:57 equipment companies, they'll all be there. You know, they're getting Mars bar. Yeah. Yeah. He was there. I didn't talk to him this time. Him and his buddy there. They messaged me asked where we're going. I said no, couldn't find a TP. I was going to climb up on top of his rack and shotgun some beers. Oh God. You know that Arnold Sports Festival page on Instagram? They play that like several times. Yeah, like it's like one of the top videos. They keep playing it like the every time they post about it, like the Arnold coming next year in the clip, like it's all like famous the top videos they keep playing it like the every time they post about it like the Arnold coming next year I'm in the clip like it's all like famous people and then like i'm at the end
Starting point is 01:41:28 Yeah, it's like the fourth time they've used that I'm like, this is great. Usually they used to frown upon that now. They're using promo videos, dude Yeah, well, that's good news for you going forward big time man. Yeah, except for that fucking rain so then after uh after the lift hard to the vzZ Classic, then you're going to you're going to the Black Hills and then all the way to Black Hills rally. Then then you're going to Colorado, though. Yep. Then the next stop will be a little place called the Stanley Hotel where Dumb and Dumber was filmed. Nice. Had to show my girls that movie.
Starting point is 01:42:00 They're not that impressed. But I mean, they were but not like I think out of the movies that I showed him a lot of like 90s comedies that are okay for like six year olds and 12 year olds and 10 year olds. The Stanley, that's where they shot the shining. No, the shiny was not shot there. The shining was, what did they say? Or was it Stephen? Stephen King stayed in that shining.
Starting point is 01:42:24 Is that what it was? Is that what it was? He like stayed in that shining. Or was that what it was? Is that what it was? He stayed there when he wrote it? And then that's why he made the movie, yeah. Oh, okay. But the Dumb and Dumber was actually filmed there. Anyway, the girls, I'm gonna take them there and they're gonna be very impressed, right?
Starting point is 01:42:35 But their favorite movie was Billy Madison. Yeah, classic. Yeah. Yeah, I've shown my son most of those movies too. He liked Dumb and Dumber, but he actually likes those, like Billy, he likes like the Adam Sandler ones a little bit better. Yep.
Starting point is 01:42:54 He hated, he did not think Anchorman was funny at all. I know I- I'm a Jodie girl's Anchorman. I was sitting there watching, you know, I'm like watching his face and the funny parts. Yeah, I'm laughing at all. This part's great. Yeah, I know. You don't give a shit.. Yeah, I'm like, oh, this part's great. Yeah, I know.
Starting point is 01:43:06 You don't give a shit. I'm like, oh. I did the same thing in My Girl, like Dumb and Dumber. I'm like saying all the words of the movie. They're like, not doing anything. I'm like, that part was awesome. Did you see the guy peeing on the wall? Nobody even sees that part.
Starting point is 01:43:18 I caught it. No, Dad. You guys don't think this movie's that good, huh? This is my favorite movie. I was a kid. I watched it 500 times. Dumb and Dumber is a good movie. Oh, dad. You guys don't think this movie is that good? This is my favorite movie. I was a kid. I watched it 500 times. Dumb and Dumber is a good movie. I watch it so many times, man. I know every I haven't watched it probably in 10 years. I still knew every single word to the movies. I watched it so many times out when I was like seventh, eighth, ninth grade or whatever it was insane. I told you, you ever hear that story about me and Pappy, how we went out there looking for him back in 1997 and you didn't wear it. We're at Aspen. Yeah.
Starting point is 01:43:51 We drove all the way to Aspen. My Pappy just bought a brand new van. He loaded up with 10 cases of beer, no clothes. Heard about that tooth brush. Yeah. Yeah. Just a toothbrush in a case of beer. So we pull in and there's no internet back then so We pull in we drive all the way to Aspen. We're like, oh, this is great, man We're to stop the Chamber of Commerce We're to find out where all the film locations where we're gonna find out, you know Watch where dumb a dumber was we go to Chamber of Commerce and they start laughing at us Yes, it wasn't really filmed here. Most movies still did Breckenridge Are you fucking kidding me? That was like two hours ago
Starting point is 01:44:27 we came all the way off the interstate to come to Aspen and decided to fucking filmed here and Pat because well, let's get the fuck out of your son. Let's go to Vegas And next stop was Vegas so we never got to see it. So you guys just drove how many miles in the wrong direction? Exactly see where dumb never was filled that we didn't even fucking see it. Yeah, not going to make that mistake again. Thanks a lot. Pappy. Well, well, dumb and dumber wasn't filmed in Aberdeen, South Dakota, but the Wizard of Oz was L. Frank bomb. The guy that wrote the Wizard of Oz was used to live
Starting point is 01:45:02 in Aberdeen. Well, you guys are staying at Storybook land. Yeah, you guys are staying out there. The land of Oz was used to live in Aberdeen. Well, you guys are staying at Storybook land. Yeah, you guys are staying out there. The land of Oz. Yeah. Well, this sounds really good. Where you're staying, your kids will really like it, actually. So man. Yeah, the land of Oz. Yeah, you know, story. I've been to what is it? Judy Garland's hometown is in northern Michigan or Minnesota. Okay. I stayed there once too right by the same place where who's that one hippie that sung a lot of weird songs back in
Starting point is 01:45:29 the 70s? Bob Dylan. Yep. Bob Dylan. He was he was like literally two towns away from her. Oh, yeah. I think he's to lose fishing. Yeah, well, he's right near Duluth. I was just in Duluth. Actually, yeah, Tim. We never talked about your trip. Maybe I just got back to say that for when Huck's off we can catch you. Have you ever been to Dul talked about your trip. Maybe I just got back say that for when Off we can catch ever been to Duluth. Yeah, I still fishing up there and hitting, Minnesota Oh, yeah, I had a lake house up there. Well a boathouse, buddy It's been like three bonk beds in a little bit. They'd like quite the trip for you guys
Starting point is 01:45:59 Yeah, they'd let the city guys like you up in Duluth or Well, Duluth is a big city, man. It's right. Yes, actually, I like superior there. You know, there's a big crash there the fucking boat a long time ago. Oh, SSF Fitzgerald. Yeah, I went up there looking for that boat. You know that a couple years ago? Yeah. We took off out of Whitefish Bay. Is that where it's no. Somewhere up there in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan
Starting point is 01:46:26 Okay, yeah, and and we went out there and they're gonna take us around where that I think where the boat was crashed yeah, something like that and The boat they warned us before we get on that there might be a storm coming in And if you get seasick don't get come on the boat where we're we're fine. We're in the camper You know, we just got off the camper get come on the boat where we're fine. We're in the camper. You know, we just got off the camper. We get on the boat. We literally get a couple miles offshore or whatever it is. And it's like people are throwing up all around us. And I'm like, holy fuck, this is actually a thing. And then literally like two minutes later, fucking my littlest kid Kyla starts throwing up all over me. And then they like the waves are too big. We have to
Starting point is 01:47:03 turn around. We will refund your money. money and they turned around I thought we're going under but the funniest part was I played that stupid song on repeat for like two hours this is the album right here Gordon light foot out Gordon light foot that's and here's a Edmund Fitzgerald bumper sticker right there. Yeah, that ship was like the Titanic. It would never go down. They said, Yeah, it's like the biggest ship ever like this cargo ship. And in November ships go down and superior man do not go on that boat superior November, the witch of
Starting point is 01:47:43 November took up took him down November 10th 1975 this November will be the 50th year anniversary. Are you going up there for I would love to I'm thinking I was just at superior on the 50 year though. I mean I got to make my pilgrimage him Yeah, sort of Yes, 56,000 tons of iron are That part of the song? I think so. Beautiful song. I haven't listened to it since then, but it's a great song.
Starting point is 01:48:11 It still holds up. It holds up big time. 50 years. When was that? That was in the 80s. That song came out. I suppose. It wouldn't have been before 1975. I think it was 1972 it came out. Kind of weird it came out in 72. How do they know, man? It must have been Back to the Future shit man.
Starting point is 01:48:28 It's crazy. I really didn't read the Warning signs there. Yeah and they got the Creed sign back there. What the fuck? Yeah that's the Creed. Bryce gave me that. Purple Wheel Sweetie. Big B. Double B with the double D's. He gave me that. Double B with the double D's. What a nice guy. And our Crew Falls
Starting point is 01:48:44 Get Together this winter He gave me that. That a nice guy. And our crew falls get together this winter. He gave me that. That was my Christmas present from him. Man, very giving person. He's your official co-host now of the Huck Finn Barbell show. You might get a Christmas present from him this December too. Yes, dude. He is fucking doing good, man.
Starting point is 01:48:59 Yeah. Guy is gold. I knew it the first time I hung out with that guy. He was going to be fucking good. He's a good person He's hilarious. He looks like a fucking big idiot, which I love dude. Okay, one of my all-time Favorite pictures is the picture of Bryce standing next to can't Have you seen that picture Tanner I've heard about it, but I don't think I've ever
Starting point is 01:49:24 Have you seen that picture Tanner? I've heard about it, but I don't think I've ever actually seen it I've heard I thought for sure but even when I saw I know how big Bryce's and I still thought it was photoshopped Cuz it looks like The weirdest looking picture. Oh man Small no, I mean he is five seven maybe though. Okay, I mean he's not like five three or no No, he's like five seven two. Maybe he's five eight. Yeah 260 pounds probably there. Yeah, I got a it might be a it's kind of a bad angle I think the angles what really adds to it is even more crazy though when you look at it But it's funny as shit. It was that bench night that night. He came over
Starting point is 01:50:07 So so first you steal our t-shirt designs, then you steal our lifting buddies to be your podcast Where does it end? Hold it up on screen. I'll send it to you to Tanner, but can you? It's gotta be the weirdest angle. It's not... You're a heavy truck. He had a not that small, dude. That looks like a little kid. No!
Starting point is 01:50:36 Looks like you can pick him up like a basketball. There is something wrong with that phone. That looks like a funny house mirror or something. Like... Bryce looks like a funny house mirror or something. Like, Bryce looks like he's literally a giant. It looks like Bryce is gonna eat him. Like, six, five hundred pounds. Like, if you didn't know any better, like, cause if Bryce wasn't there, you'd just look at the picture and be like, I don't know.
Starting point is 01:51:02 That guy's probably just like a guy that lifts like I'm just looking at cam and then all sudden you had in Bryce you're like I don't know maybe that's a kid that's a crazy picture after dude Dan I just DM'd it DC can see it's that picture it was like I thought my brain was broken when I first saw that thing. I should blow that picture up. It'd be for sale at the Huckman booth that Masonomics sent me. That'll be at Bryce. Bryce can sign that for I-N-O.
Starting point is 01:51:32 Yeah, B double B, we signed it. You should figure out how to get some of those printed off to do that, that Bryce will sign those for people. Send me that picture, I'll get a hundred of them printed off tonight. Here, yeah, I'll send it to you right now. Yeah, I'm looking for it. I'll put. I'm sure for Bryce. That is ridiculous. It is. We made fun of Cam that night when he took that picture. I think he's the one that
Starting point is 01:51:55 who I think his dad took it or something. Oh, Bryce's dad. Yeah. Yeah. His dad, his dad and him slept on the fucking couch out the the barn. Yeah, they said it was a little cold. Yeah, they kept feeding the fire. The fire going to the back. Holy shit, boys. I got to get out of here pretty soon. I got to go to prison in the morning, man. Oh, that's right. We got to shut it down.
Starting point is 01:52:15 We got we got to lift hard, live easy, classic to get. We got to be same here, man. I got a lot of work to do still. Yeah. When are you coming to town? Maybe you just make Tanner do all the work. You show up the last day. No, Saturday morning. Yeah. Everything good, bud. Right before first squad. I'll come rolling in.
Starting point is 01:52:37 Flying in. I think I'm going on his moped. I'll be there either Wednesday night or early Thursday morning to start setting up. Now who else helps you set up dinner? Oh, okay. ton of people this year. Jim nerds. Yeah, a bunch of the bunch. Actually, a bunch of the local massonomics gym nerds that Oh, that's good. Yeah, you guys got that good. You guys got some
Starting point is 01:52:59 good guys in that gym, too. Yeah. Yeah. And then there there are lady. Yeah. That's a no excuse to not come to the gym. Even the blind, the blind girl finds her way to the gym. Yeah. That's crazy. Yeah. She local. She said about price too. Oh, you should, you should see, you probably didn't, you probably didn't see this, but, you know, we put a billboard up every year. So you got to get your picture with the billboard when you come first. No, I saw that. I saw you guys had a story or something. Yeah. Yeah. We
Starting point is 01:53:24 got a billboard again. And Megan is the blind girl at the gym. And she it's kind of everyone takes their picture with the billboard every year and posted on Instagram. You know, she said, Oh, first to get my picture with the billboard. And it's a picture of her standing on the wrong side of the billboard. It's a different billboard in the background. It's hilarious. Really funny. She's funny as shit. Yeah, yeah. He's super funny, especially when she told like, I said, you know,
Starting point is 01:53:50 you're standing in front of you're standing in front of a guy who looks just like George Clooney. She goes, I ain't that fucking blind. Boss man. It was so good. Good stuff laughing. Yeah, that is funny. Yeah, she's funny. What a town, man. Yeah, we'll be ready for you.
Starting point is 01:54:08 Roll out the red carpet. I did take a lot of pictures in there at that bar that day. I was in there. Huck Finn is pretty famous in that town. It's dude. There's going to be some meeting and greeting this weekend. You want us? Do we need to put some Miller lights on ice for you? I mean, you always got to do that.
Starting point is 01:54:23 You know what I mean? I already got all kinds of shit come to your house. So I know me and Tommy me and Tommy are gonna be eating like kings I know your icon meals got icon meals coming. I got half my product coming to your house Yeah, I get there. Yeah, I don't know what happened never showed up, but Sorry shows on the mass and I mix merch booth and we've got Anybody want to buy an icon meal? Yeah. Holy fuck. All right. Well, see you on Friday then.
Starting point is 01:54:54 Yeah, I'll see you boys. A week from Friday. All right, you know where to find us. Where do I find you? Oh, Western Northeast South Dakota. Just point your compass to Western Northeast South Dakota and follow the stars. Be right there. How do I get out? Oh Western Northeast South Dakota. Just point your compass to Western Northeast South Dakota and follow ours There how do I get out of here man? All right. See ya. Okay. Bye there is Those are big big city Chicago cool beans right there
Starting point is 01:55:23 City City boy, Chicago. You only get those beans if you spent a lot of time in Chicago growing up You're a city slicker. Yeah, that's the city's city slickers this we'll show them how we do it in the country out here You're not in the city anymore We'll say we're from the country and we like it that way Okay country and we like it that way. Okay. On merchandise, I just wanted to mention the silly pun. I haven't seen those. Yeah, those are really cool. Yeah, very cool. This limited edition lift hard, the VZ classic silly pint will be available at the
Starting point is 01:55:58 booth. Of course, the meat tea, which I'm not wearing, it would have made more sense if I would have worn it for this up more last year's in honor Of that's good week here those for the competitors They are not free the meaty, but the competitors can buy it at cost so just just Heads up on that we also have New mesh shorts brand new mesh
Starting point is 01:56:25 shorts, the special massonomics mesh shorts. Oh, everyone's come to know and love Do we want to say what those are? I forgot about those. Are those just a surprise? Maybe it'll be a surprise because no one here listening can buy them. So Yep, yep. And then a I don't I didn't was this only on the pre show. I mentioned we do have some special magnets that those will be given out Free to the first people that come to the booth until those are gone and buy something
Starting point is 01:56:50 And then we have a 100% top-secret shirt that we're not going to talk about whatsoever. So you Will only even see that one if you're there in person to visit us. Mm-hmm So that's kind of the rundown on the merch. There is also, as far as awards, Mastinomics, Lyft Hardly VZ is a meat of many, many awards. It's like an award show. Yeah, including our wooden our special wooden plate awards that are. This is the trilogy, the tetra tetra tetralogy coming next year. But the trilogy of wooden plate awards this year. The wooden plate awards are silliest goose
Starting point is 01:57:26 is a return award. strongest couple is a return award. So those two are returns, then strongest volunteer is a new award. This is my first rodeo is a new award that would essentially be like kind of a rookie of the year sort of award. This is my first rodeo. Last one is the Randy award which probably requires the most description of what it actually is. The Randy award is not, it is a ratio award. It is given out based on exact numbers. So that'll be whoever has the highest bench in relation to their deadlift.
Starting point is 01:58:10 So a very high deadlift and a very poor, or a very high bench and a very poor deadlift will get you in the running for the Randy Award. And that's because of course, Randy was the guy online that made fun of me for deadlifting and said, deadlifting is an idiotic lift and benchpress is what matters
Starting point is 01:58:25 So if you want to win the Randy Award you need a great You need to record both a bench and a deadlift and then the discrepancy, you know The deadlift has or the deadlift has to be how do I want to say that ratio? Preferably, I mean you're doing good if that ratio is over one, you know on the bench like that would be impressive if you're over one Do you think that's possible? I mean, it's Yeah, it's possible. But what happened is impossible. Yeah, right. Yeah, if you're the closer you are to one, the higher you probably have a likelihood of winning. Like, like if your bench to deadlift ratio is like point
Starting point is 01:59:02 five. I mean, it's OK, but it's probably not Randy territory. Right. I think it's going to be what do you think that number is going to be? What number? What? What do you think it's going to be that would require a win on that? What is point nine? So if you're a 500 pound deadlift. Well, I think you're thinking about this wrong, though, what could be likely? Well, as I was to say, is there like a girl
Starting point is 01:59:28 that could maybe be deadlifting 135 and then bench like 90 or something? Yeah. That's not very good though. That's still just two thirds. So girls historically do not have good bench presses. I know. You know, relative to their deadlift.
Starting point is 01:59:47 So I feel like if you were at 8.8, that's going to be pretty high. I think so. That'd be a 400 bench and a 500 deadlift. You'd have to, you know, that'd be. I like that. OK, here we go. You'd have to, you know, that'd be. I like that, okay. Here we go.
Starting point is 02:00:06 Yeah. No. That'd be impressive. That would be. You need, it's gonna be T-Rex. Whoever's the most built like T-Rex is gonna win this award, I think. Don't you think?
Starting point is 02:00:19 I mean, that is the body type it would favor. It doesn't necessarily mean that it has to be that person, but yeah. is the body type it would favor doesn't necessarily mean that it has to be that person but Yeah Hmm. Yeah, I'm curious. Who will 360 a 360 bench and a 450 deadlift would be 0.8 Those are pretty out of whack still point 8 is gonna be tough It would be really tough. What what point seven five would be a 375 bench and a 500 deadlift that's getting closer to what what about if you have a 225 bench and
Starting point is 02:00:51 What would that be like a 350 deadlift? That would be point seven five roughly Yeah, 350 deadlift would be need to be a 262 bench. Mmm That'd be tough wouldn't yeah, that's still tough to bench close to 300. The bench is getting, you know, like close to a 275 bench. Yeah, I'm curious. I'm I'm very interested to see who I'll be curious if someone breaks the point seven five. Yeah. And what that ratio is, that'll be interesting to see. Right. Who can really take home the Randy Award? Oh, so that's what did we miss
Starting point is 02:01:25 anything important on the lift hard, the VZ classic preview probably most of it will get a full rundown recap in a couple weeks here. But that's right. It won't be next next week's episode won't be the recap of that because we're going to record something else that'll come out next week. So stay tuned for a couple weeks from for that one. Starting point is 02:02:10 It's worth noting, I saw Big Shelby mention it and Big Ryan too. If you're coming to the Lift, Hard, Live, Easy Classic and there's any shoe, particular style of shoe or size of shoe or combination of those two that you're like pretty sure you want to check out or possibly even buy from when They're there let them know ahead of time and if they have inventory They'll make sure to bring it So that's kind of actually a cool thing if you're listening to this and you're thinking about checking something out from barefoot Give them a heads up and they'll make sure they have the inventory of that when they come if at all possible. So
Starting point is 02:02:42 Otherwise if you're not coming just go to to their website, barefoot.store. Yeah, I went back like after last year and went It was fun to see that's all it'll be fun to see that this year too, the comments that come in there. Yeah, I did just remember when you said that lifting, we never really talked about training or lifting
Starting point is 02:05:51 leading up to this. Not that we need to like restart the whole podcast, but I did say early in the episode, like, oh, I'll talk about Bryce's house later. Right, right. Got a training session in that perfect little sweeties, hit a nice big squat. First time squatting over 500.
Starting point is 02:06:03 Did you squat 505 pounds? 505, first time breaking the 500 pound barrier since like 2018. So your back must be feeling good then too. Yeah, it's coming around. It took like a month. You just have to wait for things to cool down. And then once they do, I can get back into it. But that maybe was the biggest victory of this entire meat prep was kind of for the first time my life feeling like I properly navigated Back nerve issue and squatting over 500 pounds again as sweet. Yeah, you know, that's Yeah, so that's so you're saying the first time in seven years. Yeah the first I mean, yeah since my 20s
Starting point is 02:06:43 You know, I said I had to put a seven-year hiatus on it. We're back. Yes. You're in your 20 I actually wasn't I was fairly confident. I would never squat over 500 again So like that is kind of crazy to think about actually and now look at us It is funny though. The first time you squat 500 pounds. It is the crate. It's the best feeling ever And then this one I was like, yeah, it was okay. It was okay Well, yeah, it is different when you've already done it before Then you're like well now I'm expecting for that to happen. Yeah, that's what is supposed to happen. I'm just following the plan. Yeah And that was that was a was it just you and Bryce then just me and Bryce. Yeah, it's I was telling him
Starting point is 02:07:25 it It's freaky going for a one rep max squat alone Like that why you planned that one? Yeah, cuz bench is fine, you know, you can just set the spotters and right and you're good I mean it still does kind of suck But it is just a little freaky when you're really loading up a squat and you're all alone that. And it's a really heavy one. Yeah. And it's a really heavy one on top of that.
Starting point is 02:07:51 I was telling him, you know, it's, it's different than like if it's an RP 10 week and it's a your own for a six rep thing, like, you know, on rep four or five, if things are getting kind of funky. Right. Uh, no one rep max is just do or die. You know, one rep, uh It's just do or die. You know, one rep. That, I, yeah. I mean, that happens so infrequently too. Right, well that, yeah, that is the other one,
Starting point is 02:08:12 is just so rare that I remember doing that. Like maybe a couple times a year, almost at most. Yeah, at most, yes, yes. Yeah, that is a good one to plan, to go lift with someone else then. But then Finn said, since you don't invite Bryce over, then you had to go over there. Yeah, that is a good one to plan to go lift with someone else then but then Finn said since you don't invite Bryce over Then you had to go over there Yep, not allowed. No one's allowed in my gym mine and mine only
Starting point is 02:08:35 All right, and I guess the rest of it you'll just have to stay tuned for the recap to see how it all See what all the numbers shook out to be. That's right Okay, Tommy, where do they find you at besides at the lift hardly easy class? You find me at Tomahawk underscore D. You can follow me at Tanner underscore bear. Just make sure to follow massonomics at massonomics. See you
