Starting point is 00:00:00 You know, thanks for what you do with your podcasts and all the rest. You're doing a great job. Hope everybody keeps tuning in. You get a lot of good info, a lot of insights, understandings of how to get strong, how to stay strong, how to use your strength. You do a great job, dude. You make things better than they are in real life, I think. If you don't follow Massanomics, you all do it.
Starting point is 00:00:18 Social media, website, everything. Massonomics! What's up, everyone? Episode 523 of the Massonomics podcast. Where are your favorite two hosts? Just a couple of strengths. straight guys doing straight guy stuff 100% straight most of the time on the massonomics podcast. If you don't know that one by now, we do joke about that stuff.
Starting point is 00:00:55 It's probably an odd opening if you haven't been listening for the last month or so. You just have to go back and listen to the last few episodes. My name is Tanner. My name is Tommy and I am a circus performer. That's true. Let's not one thing before we get to that, and then we have to make sure not to bury the lead. Tommy is, in fact, a circus performer.
Starting point is 00:01:22 And to go along with that, pairs very nicely. Elite FTS is the newest sponsor of the Massonomics podcast. Why does that pair nicely? I'm not sure. But if you go to EliteFTS.com, you can check out their deals. Right now, the American press bar. You can save $50 off of that. and then bands are 40% off.
Starting point is 00:01:42 Toilet paper is not on sale, but all those items mentioned along with the toilet paper can be saved 10% on with code Mass 10. I'm actually thinking about reordering a little more toilet paper for the gym. Yeah, I'm really worried it's going to run out someday and I'm not going to have the multi-play. That would be, that would change some things to say the least. So elitefts.com, discount code mass 10.
Starting point is 00:02:07 Thank you. This episode is also brought to you by Juggernaut AI. Juggernais is the smartest program for you. Since 2009, Juggernaut has been your trusted training resource, helping tens of thousands of athletes reach their goals. Here's how it works. You download the app, and then you're going to tell the app all about yourself and your goals.
Starting point is 00:02:29 From there, their proprietary algorithms will work towards building the smartest program for you. And once that program's built, the system's going to find the right amount of work. you need to progress, optimal training frequency, periodization style, and personalized to you and your exercises that you want to do. And then it's going to make adjustments for you every step of the way. You're going to check in with the app before you lift during your session and at the end of your session. And it's going to make sure to give the perfect volume tweaks as needed. I've been using Juggernaut for several years now. I have hit some lifetime PRs. Thanks to the app. And most importantly, I think it keeps training fun.
Starting point is 00:03:09 and interesting throughout the year. So I highly recommend it if you go to juggernautai.com. That is their website. You can use code Masonomics and save 10% on the lifetime of your membership. Juggernot AI.a.comat,com. Now, everyone, I direct your attention to Center Ring for the Master of Ceremonies. At the Yeldiz Shrine 100th annual brand new circus, Tommy DeFay. Wait, is this my first time or second time going out?
Starting point is 00:03:43 I got to know how to... Third time tonight, pulled from the crowd completely randomly. Circus performer extraordinaire, Tommy. You know, that's pretty spot on, actually. So this is... So anyone that hasn't been following along, what the hell happened? Yeah, there's a lot of... A lot to keep up on here.
Starting point is 00:04:07 So several things happened. Okay, first I went to... It was Easter this past weekend. We went back to Aberdeen to the in-laws. And you and I, we shot some videos in the gym. I think we were down there. I said, yeah, I think we're going to the circus this afternoon. You said, yeah, I think we probably are too.
Starting point is 00:04:22 And that was it. We didn't talk about it anymore. Go to the circus with the whole family. And of course, we sat in the very, like, second row, front and center. And my immediate thought was, yeah, there's no way I'm not going out there. They're going to pull me out to the crowd. That was my immediate thought when we sat down. Like, this is the spot we're picking, huh?
Starting point is 00:04:42 And we sat down and they did the first crowd work one where they pulled the crowd in. And I didn't get selected. I'm like, oh, you know what? Maybe I'm in the clear. Okay, nothing to worry about. And I don't know, it was maybe five or ten minutes later for whatever reason they're doing the YMCA. And the ringleader has to pull me out to do the YMCA, which, okay, whatever, man. So I go out there and it's so funny.
Starting point is 00:05:03 He goes, do you know, do you know the words? Yes, I know what the YMCA is. You mean YMCA. So, you know, I get out there and I'm doing the thing. He's trying to get you to hype up and jump around and do the YMCA. And I thought, ah, I hit it pretty good. You know, I think I did what I needed to. And I actually didn't know for sure if you were at the circus.
Starting point is 00:05:23 But then shortly after I sat back down, I got a text from you. I think they were like, oh, that was amazing or something. And I think you sent me the video of me doing the YMCA. And yeah, I was laughing. I'm like, yeah, that is pretty funny. We got that on camera. and, you know, my wife's kind of like, oh, my God, all right. But whatever.
Starting point is 00:05:42 All right, I did my work. I'm done. I'm in the clear. And it was not too much longer. I don't know. Was it a half hour later, Tanner? Yeah, probably. Maybe not.
Starting point is 00:05:51 Maybe that long. Yeah. The ringleader, he's back out in the crowd right by us. And he's going, oh, I'm looking for someone strong. He goes, someone's tall and someone's strong. And I'm sitting opposite crowd side of you. and I'm like literally looking where he's looking at the section and I'm like there I was getting my phone ready because I'm like there is no way he's not taking Tommy I'm like there is no other able-bodied men in that's what we said because you were thinking that and I was thinking the exact same thing I'm like God everyone around me is like 60 plus or six years old I'm like there's no like you said able-bodied people in this section of the crowd and I'm looking away like do not select me again and he goes, you, come on out here again.
Starting point is 00:06:38 And my wife goes, don't, don't do it, don't do it. She's pulling out. I'm not going to argue with the guy. Okay, whatever. Yeah. So he pulls me back out there and I have no idea what I'm in for. And Tanner has a video on the last night. A lot of people want to know, were you in on it?
Starting point is 00:06:53 No, I was not in on it because I wouldn't have got along with it. Wink. Yeah. No, they didn't pay me $100 to do it. No, I definitely would have not. If that was something I had to do ahead of time, I would have not partaken at all. And, yeah, we got out there.
Starting point is 00:07:10 Tanner has the video. Make sure you go look at the Masonomics channel or on Instagram. He has a nice little highlight reel of it. But we were out there. It was out there down because. Oh, God, it took forever. I was out there so long. And it starts.
Starting point is 00:07:21 Eight solid minutes of performance. It was that long, actually. Yeah. The second time was eight minutes of performance. We got done and you go, man, you were in the circus longer than most of the performers. That's not an exaggeration. Seriously, though.
Starting point is 00:07:33 Seriously. I was out there so long. He puts me in a jacket. We're marching around. We're doing stuff. Then we're throwing plates in the air. And I felt like I was hanging with him pretty well. It was like doing all the tricks he needed me to.
Starting point is 00:07:45 And then he did this thing where he was like rolling the plate off his arm. And for a second, I thought, oh, I'm doing it. And then it fell in the ground. But actually my perspective on that was when he had you do those things. I'm like, oh, I feel like Tommy's succeeding at too many of these. He's like wanting you to drop the plate, you know, because that's part of the joke. And you're like doing the things. and he's like playing into it, but he's like,
Starting point is 00:08:05 okay, come on, I need you to drop the plate on the ground now. You're like a buffoon here. Yeah. It actually is funny. It reminded me, Grant wrote, I think on the post, he wrote content Tommy.
Starting point is 00:08:17 And that is a hundred, you and I joke about it and Grant has to you about how, you know, when you're doing YouTube videos, you're in content mode. Even this, you know, we're presenting.
Starting point is 00:08:26 We're talking a little different than normal. And when I'm out there, like, it was like that flip the switch is like, nope, we're in content mode now. Right. We're doing things in a more exaggerated manner that we wouldn't typically do.
Starting point is 00:08:37 And, yeah, throwing plates around. And then I'm like lifting the guy. He's trying to lift me up. I'm lifting him up. The other thing, when you lifted him up, you actually could have just lifted him up to, like, he had to, he actively leaned away because it was going to ruin the bit because you needed to go get the ladder. And I'm like, no, like you basically almost just lifted him up to set the plate on there. Like he for sure could have done it if you wanted to. Because I thought, oh, that's the reason why he picked me is I'm supposed to lift him.
Starting point is 00:09:03 him up and put him up there. Yeah. So he goes, oh, lift me up, lift me up. And I start lifting him and he goes, set me back to it. Like,
Starting point is 00:09:08 you know, he's telling me stuff the whole time. He's like, sell me back down. Because yeah, the bit would have been done. Because I got to just picked him up and put him up there. Not thought he was very big or anything or anything.
Starting point is 00:09:15 And then hold, okay, hold this ladder. Do that, you know, you know, have me do that, you know,
Starting point is 00:09:19 it went on and on and on. But, uh, yeah, I served my part. And when you were out there, did it, like,
Starting point is 00:09:26 Were you thinking that it had been a long time or anything like that? I mean, kind of. Like he always had me doing something, but I mean, in my head, I'm thinking, am I ever going to leave this place? It feels like I've been over a very long time. Also, you spun the plates on the thing. I don't know if I was supposed to do that or not. I kind of got the feeling you weren't.
Starting point is 00:09:43 I couldn't tell if he was acting or not when he came over. Because he was doing him on his side, and you like just started doing him on your side. And he was like, no, no, no. But I don't know if that was part of that. The plates all have this little metal eye underneath him. You know, you line it up and you just spin it. Well, then I wondered if there was.
Starting point is 00:09:59 Yeah. But yeah, it was, you know. I got that. I couldn't tell. I was like, I don't know if he's being serious or not, but he's really acting like you were not supposed to do that part. That was my thought too, but no. Go with the flow.
Starting point is 00:10:14 It was pretty funny, but it was also just absolutely insane. Yeah. Yeah, it was. That's why if you don't want to do that, you can't sit down. in the front roll. Yeah. No. Yep.
Starting point is 00:10:28 And then, yeah, when, you know, to pair this with being on the, the Jimbo Tron with the Kenny G thing like three weeks ago. My wife's like, yeah, you're not allowed to wear your hair down in public anymore. This is, you're just too easy of a target. Ah, Jcast, if your kids think you're cool now, though. To them, it was just like, oh, that was funny. And like, they just like didn't even fake. Like, I think to them it's like, oh, yeah, daddy does stuff. And what I feel like your, your wife was like, go.
Starting point is 00:10:54 she was like oh not this again also it was really funny in the uh instagram comment section i can't remember who posted it but it was uh jesse pickman or whatever uh all right he's like yeah it was right he's like he can't keep getting away with this yeah it's stupid it was so funny it made the circus really good i mean it particularly for me in the audience it made me really enjoy the circus this year i'm like this is the best circus I've ever been to.
Starting point is 00:11:27 Well, we were saying, I walk out and I ran into your father-in-law and we were just dying, laughing, talking about it. We were saying, you know, if you don't know who I am, you're probably just like, well, that's obviously. That guy's part of it. For sure. And if you know who I am, you're like, God. Is he involved in it?
Starting point is 00:11:45 Like, maybe they got a hold of him ahead of time to work some of this out. He's out there a long time. For a second or two, I was like, God, did they like just talk? to him ahead of time just to verify if this is, be like, yeah, you're going to be out there for a few minutes. Do you think you could just go along with some stuff? Because that is a bold move to just pull a random dude out of the audience.
Starting point is 00:12:06 Like, yep, you're part of the show for 10 minutes now. What I found out, though, some of the guys that went to the earlier show, uh-huh. The person that they pulled out for that bit, it was their second time coming out for the night too. I think the group of people, because they do the band instrument thing. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:12:24 in the earlier show the day before, one of the guys that did the band instrument, they put the butt, he did the butt drum thing, you know that, and they picked him for the plate thing. Oh. And I'm like,
Starting point is 00:12:38 oh, I feel like they're kind of vetting. That is their way of seeing. The group in the shorter version. And then that was my theory that I'm like, they're like, who here was into this? Right.
Starting point is 00:12:47 They have a pool of people that's all trying. Right. It's auditions. Because they have like six people to see like who are, And I suppose if you're like, yeah, none of them are any good, you take your shot on somebody else new. But if you're like, no, we got the guy. And like you were pretty into the YMCA. So I'm feeling like he's like, damn, this guy's a little too into the YMCA.
Starting point is 00:13:07 For a straight guy, this guy really likes the YMCA. But Caden said the guy that did the butt, he was really getting into that drum thing. And then they picked him for the plate. So I wonder if that was like a their thing. Yeah. It's the audition. Yeah. So maybe it was always going to be you for the second time.
Starting point is 00:13:26 Yeah, because everyone else just sucked at the band thing. Well, kind of. I don't know that I recall seeing anyone that was too into it. The other funny thing about the weekend then is everywhere we went, we were both. Like Aberdeen is not a large city for anyone that's been here. You understand it. But there's several different places you could go.
Starting point is 00:13:50 And we were at the same place at all times. the weekend. On planned. So the only thing we planned was to meet at the gym to get a little content done. So we do that Friday morning. Friday afternoon, we both happened to be at the circus. Saturday afternoon. Afternoon.
Starting point is 00:14:08 We were both at the Amnardee Mall. Yes. I go to the, we go to the Mario movie, meet my brother and his family there with the kids. We all watch the Mario movie. We're walking out of the movie theater and I look at the mall food court. I'm like,
Starting point is 00:14:21 yep, that's Tanner. over there. We go over and talk to you and your kids are played. So we talk to you for like a half hour there, maybe more. Yeah. Get done there. I get home. My wife had gone and met up with some friends in town.
Starting point is 00:14:35 And she said, yeah, we're at Schwannies. And I know you go to Schwannies a lot, but it never crossed a mind for a second that you'd be there. And finally, I get to Schwannies. It takes me way too long to get there. It's like 9.30. I walk in. You guys are all sitting at a table.
Starting point is 00:14:48 So I see you, I mean, kind of basically see you three times. that weekend, four times that weekend, and three of them were purely coincidence. Yeah. Yeah. So then we went, we also went to the bar that Tyler is a door guy at after that. And I, I've never been to that bar before in my life prior to that. I've only been there once, and it was a long time ago. Yes.
Starting point is 00:15:13 And there was karaoke going on at that point. Oh, did you ever get pulled? Because we had to leave. I put in my song to sing some karaoke. And when I gave it to him, I saw there was a fat stack of, request. Yeah, I'm probably not getting in here. You guys left and I think we left five, 10 minutes later. Okay. No, never, never got my song called. Some members in my party had one too many shots and we had to hit the dusty trail. My wife was not happy the next day either. I mean,
Starting point is 00:15:39 she wasn't like sick, sick, but she's like, I could have done with not being out of that late. Yep. You'll have that on the circus, circus weekend. Shwan's recreation, though, hell of a hell of a hot spot. That Easter weekend, it's popping. Yep. Okay. So that is the circus, which I really wanted to get to the circus. So I'm glad we got that.
Starting point is 00:16:05 Big circus guy here. Okay, so this episode is going to come out on April 12th and 13th. Oh, actually, I thought you'd never ask. Depends on what you're drinking. I hope it's not a blackberry lemon. Lemonade Waterloo. Oh. Like a magician in the circus over there.
Starting point is 00:16:26 Oh, you're not the only one that's got a rabbit in your hat up there. I got myself a Waterloo also. That line with the twins. Hot diggedy dog, that's good. Yeah, so the week that this comes out, like the end of the week that this comes out, we are headed on a little road trip. Have you ever seen the movie Road Trip? Tommy, has he seen it?
Starting point is 00:16:53 Have I ever seen? I think I've established myself pretty well at having comedies down fairly decently, especially comedies made after the year 1989. Yes, I've seen road trip a lot. I actually watched it not that long ago. It was on somewhere. I haven't seen it for quite a while. Was it funny?
Starting point is 00:17:12 It's good. It's good. Yeah. Tom Green's just so funny because it's so stupid. Yeah. It's good. Yeah, road trip. Oh, but so we're doing a road trip, too.
Starting point is 00:17:24 Yeah. Where the heck, where the heck we go on? Well, actually, we're not doing a road trip. We're flying. Well, there's, we're going to get to miles in. There's going to be planes, trains, and automobiles. Let's put it that way. Yeah, we're going to put some miles in.
Starting point is 00:17:33 So we are flying to the windy city and I'm not talking about Aberdeen. Well, it was very windy today. So you could have been talking about Aberdeen. It was like a freaking monsoon. Really that bad, huh? Yeah, when I left work out at the end of the, like, and sometime between noon and five, it happened. And because when I walked out at the end of the workday, I was like, oh, my God, hold on to your britches.
Starting point is 00:17:59 Then britches. We're going to Chicago, and we have a big trip ahead of us. This might be the most action-packed trip we've ever planned. If we can pull it off. If we can pull it off. Well, and if everyone else can pull it off, too. If everyone can pull it off. The beauty of flying to Chicago is it's just slightly over an hour.
Starting point is 00:18:21 flight for us. No connecting flights, which greatly reduces our chances of having an issue. Not impossible, but greatly reduces. And yeah, we're hitting Chicago. We're going to the big apple. Hit a few gyms in the Chicago area. Go up to Madison, Wisconsin. Catch some in Madison, a few others in Wisconsin. Come back down towards Chicago. We're going to go out west of Chicago a little bit. Don't forget about Milwaukee area. Oh, yeah. Yeah. yeah, Madison over to Milwaukee, back down to Chicago,
Starting point is 00:18:55 and then the greater Chicago area. And yeah, what do we have? I mean, do we have about 10 gyms lined up? 10. We have no room for any extra if we can make all of 10 of these work.
Starting point is 00:19:07 I think we can. I think we can. I think we can. Who said that? Choochoo. What's his name? Does he have an actual name? Well, kind of.
Starting point is 00:19:21 I don't know. What's his name? We have the book, too, and I've read it. The little engine that could. Oh, okay. I thought you're saying, or that's at least the name of the book.
Starting point is 00:19:27 Okay, I thought you're saying like in the book, his name is James or something. I always miss that page. I think it's Percy. That's, that's a Thomas. What's your favorite train from Thomas?
Starting point is 00:19:41 See, I was never really a train guy. And I mean, being my name is Thomas. If you, yeah, I was little, I'd have to pick,
Starting point is 00:19:47 I would pick Thomas, but never really watch that show much. My kids never really got into it either. They never did. Your kids never did. Jack was a big Thomas guy. None of my other kids have been quite so much, but Thomas was really popping about 10 years ago,
Starting point is 00:19:59 so it had a good resurgence there. And we had hundreds of, but I was, for the record, I was always a bit of a Henry guy. Henry. How colors that one? Henry's good and Gordon. Gordon?
Starting point is 00:20:14 Is Gordon the big blue, angry one? Is Percy the green one? Yeah, Percy's the little green one. Gordon Yeah, Gordon Thomas, like, wishes he was gort Could be as big and grumpy and strong as Gordon. Yeah, he's just like a miniature Gordon, isn't he?
Starting point is 00:20:33 Yeah, he is. He's Gordon's a little bitch. I don't know it. I just know Thomas and Percy. I don't even know those other ones. Yeah, Percy's kind of his right-hand man, I think. James is red. See, I just, I don't know these.
Starting point is 00:20:52 Sir, are you familiar at all with Sir Topham hat? Is that the conductor guy? Well, he's not, okay. I see, I mean, I would have never in a million years guessed his name, but I know what you're talking about seeing the character. Yeah, Sir Topham hat. I did not know what that was his name. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:21:15 What were we talking about? The Chicago trip, yeah, yeah, yeah. What was the derailment? pun intended. I'm not sure how we started talking about trains. I don't know. Okay.
Starting point is 00:21:31 But yeah, Chicago, hopefully we can get them all in. It's going to be a blast. It's going to be a whirlwind. Like, are we giving away any of the guest list? There's going to be, I'll tell you this,
Starting point is 00:21:43 there's going to be some crew in there, some supporting members. There's a bunch of certified training facilities. There's also that, but there's a few wild. cards in there too. There's a few wild cards in there also. Are we giving away any of those? I don't know. I don't care. We can.
Starting point is 00:22:04 Well, we're going to go see Huck Finn. There you go. That's something. There'll be one of them, yeah. Yeah, we're going to go hang out with the young hillbillets with Huck Finn. And then some other pretty interesting ones. I'm going to show those big Chicago influencers. How we do it out here in the country. How real country folk do it. Yep. We're going to see Chicago.
Starting point is 00:22:25 Chicago's biggest influencer, Huck Finn Barbell. I, let's see, will this come out? Oh, this will come. Okay. I won't spoil it because someone might send it to him. But I already know how I'm going to do the, like when we first, not the intro. We'll have to decide what we do that for that, but the very start of the actual video, I know exactly what I'm going to say to him.
Starting point is 00:22:47 And I'm so excited for it because it's going to really, he's going to be like, oh, you fuckers. I might have used that picture of him we have, too, a little bit. Use that for the thumbnail of the video. Where he looks fat. Jet GPT did him dirty. Yeah, he loves to bring that up. Good stuff.
Starting point is 00:23:17 Yeah, so that's the Chicago gym tour preview, right? I mean, that's a very quick preview, yeah. but we'll obviously go way more in depth on it after the fact after the fact yeah it's more fun to talk about things when we recap them rather than speculation who knows maybe the whole thing will get shit canned and i hope not because we're going to be scrambling then we got a lot of content riding on that trip uh did we talk was it just in the mass tomics pre show that we were talking about our uh temple of gains leg extension leg curl review video or yeah that was just was that the pre pre show that was uh
Starting point is 00:23:54 Well, there's one of them. Because we have, there's also, there's a pre-show. There's also kind of a pre-pre-show, but this week's video, the one that comes out tomorrow as the time of our recording is our review, overview of the Temple of Gaines, leg extension, leg curl selector. Selectorized machine that we have at Massonomics, Jim. Seated leg curl. Yes, the seated leg curl version.
Starting point is 00:24:18 And we did, we finally, we found someone that does honest, on biased, reviews and it's us. I mean, okay. You're really baiting me right now, Tanner. He really baiting me right now. There's a buzz. There's a buzzword going around the home gym community, and that is honest reviews.
Starting point is 00:24:41 Because, you know, it's so funny. Honest and unbiased. Because if there's one thing that all that people are, it's honest and unbiased. And everyone says it. Everyone says it. It's just the generic. It's just the most generic.
Starting point is 00:24:58 It's your one-stop shop marketing slogan. It's the generic one. You can just throw on everything. It's one-stop shop. It really makes it pop. I'm going to make a review. What should I say so people trust me? Oh, honest.
Starting point is 00:25:11 Oh, got them. But am I biased? No, I'm also unbiased. Just watch it. That word gets thrown out. And the people love to challenge. people's unbiasedness and their honesty. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:25:29 It's becoming a real, it's becoming a real, epidemic in the community of like, oh, this guy's not even honest or unbiased. He's biased and dishonest. He's not one of us. He's not honest. He's biased. You know what?
Starting point is 00:25:46 That's why we only do about five reviews a year, because I only have five honest reviews in me. That's it. Yeah. So I watch part of the review. And it's funny because there was a bunch of heat on this particular piece of equipment that was all relevant this week. But we filmed prior to that. And do you think our review was honest and unbiased?
Starting point is 00:26:07 I think ours was pretty honest. It's like all things with equipment. You know, this isn't life or death. This is all part of a hobby at the end of the day. As long as no one's getting hurt using your equipment, I think you should kind of take it all with a grain of salt. Like obviously people are spending money on this, but people also spend money on a lot of dumb, stupid shit in life. And this is just another drop in the bucket of things you can spend your money on. And is it the perfect machine for everyone?
Starting point is 00:26:35 Definitely not. But I would also say after seeing countless home gyms and being around countless equipment, not everything's for everyone. That's how it works. And so like all things, you have to monitor, you have to weigh what you are interested in, the tradeoff of having two things that do things, what your strength levels are, what your budget are. And from there, you can make an informed decision. But sometimes I feel like the nuance gets missed. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:27:01 It's just more fun to shit off. I think our video could actually help you make that decision, too, a little bit. You know, if there's certain aspects that you can pick up on from our video that might help you be able to make that decision. And I think it's a pretty constructive conversation. Also, yeah, the content creator, just even that word is just, uh, No, I mean, it's like, it's, well, I'll say this. Do you have an Instagram account? Technically, your content creator.
Starting point is 00:27:28 That's all it takes. So that doesn't mean anything. It's like the influencer word, like you just start to wish there was different words to even just describe it because you don't even want to say them because they're icky. Because they're just stupid though. They don't mean anything. Yes. Right. Right.
Starting point is 00:27:44 Like I said, people will use the word content creator. Like it's either a badge of honor or a knock. But if you have an Instagram account and you're posting content, technically, you You just, you were a content creator. You made content. Yep. That's how dumb it is. Yep.
Starting point is 00:27:58 Okay. How about we pop into some supporting our supporting members? Got a lot to people to support this week. Supporting our supporting members. It's a relatively new segment to the show. This is actually just the 23rd time here in season two of the podcast. That's it? Yeah, just in season two.
Starting point is 00:28:20 I mean, we probably did it 200 times. in season one. We're on season two now. That's the rest of that's in the past. I wonder if you've even, I don't even know if we've done this half of the episodes that we've ever recorded. We're not even at the halfway point yet.
Starting point is 00:28:35 It's relatively new, I would say. You could get out on supporting our supporting members by becoming a supporting member. You go to massanomics.com slash join. There we have a whole bevy of options you can select from. What's like massanomics.com slash join? Is that the screen that would take you to like where it really gives you a big in-depth descriptions
Starting point is 00:28:56 and ideas about what's the one? Yeah. There's like a lot of cool stuff going on in the Massonomics community. I mean, I know we're content creators, but we're so much more than that. We're an entire community of like-minded individuals that usually everyone just kind of gets it pretty well and likes to have a fun time
Starting point is 00:29:16 and probably also enjoys lifting. Maybe they have a home gym. Maybe they go to a commercial gym. Maybe they do powerlifting or strong man or none of the above. They just want to get stronger. Maybe they do starting strength or macro. Maybe they use macro factor like us or juggernaut or do conjugate. Maybe like just having a good brusky.
Starting point is 00:29:36 Maybe the, yeah, a lot of these people love to have a good brusky. They like to tell a joke. They like to post a relatively harmless meme that we can all get a laugh of. That's what this community is like. If I could sum it up in a thousand words or less. that's what I would say about this community. And you could be a part of that. You could start being a part of that
Starting point is 00:29:58 by going to massanomics.com slash join. Get in on the action. And as a little teaser or a little extra incentive, if you've been riding the line, if you've been fence sitting, I'd get signed up now. I'd get off that fence. Yeah, get your ass.
Starting point is 00:30:18 Get your ass off that fence. sign up because there's a little line in the sand coming. And once we hit that line in the sand, here's the way the line in the sand works. We bust out our whoop and stick, scrape a line directly down in the sand. And we say, all right, all of those of you on this side of the line, you're getting this sweet thing that we're going to mail to all of you. It's going to be freaking hilarious. You're all going to get the joke. There should be hundreds of you on this side of the line that just absolutely love this thing we sent. You're all going to be. You're all going to get the joke. You're all going to going to be like sharing pictures of how you use it, where you put it, what you do with it.
Starting point is 00:30:56 Everyone else is going to be like, these people are insane. I have no idea what this joke is about. But for hundreds of us on this side of the line, it's going to be freaking hilarious. And we're going to have this community of online and sometimes in person people to share this joke with for years. Everyone else that doesn't get signed up by then is going to be an idiot over on this side of the line. I was going to be like, Tanner, but you'll let you. Yeah, they're going to be a, they're going to be certifiable horses' asses over here. This group of people, you're going to be like, glad I ain't one of those ding-dongs.
Starting point is 00:31:30 Look at them on that side of the line looking like idiots over there. Like just complete horses' asses. They don't even have this thing that we all have on this fun inside joke that we're all a part of a, yeah, look at how cool we are and all these people on this side of the line that are real, real doofuses. What other names can I call the people that don't get signed up in time? I don't know. You've already went pretty obscene there.
Starting point is 00:31:58 I don't know if we can get worse than that. Don't get much worse than a doofus. God, you could be kids listening to this. Give us a warning next time. Sorry, Clayton. Let's see. So, yeah, get signed up, right? That's the takeaway.
Starting point is 00:32:16 That's what he's trying to say. Yeah, get signed up. signed up because we do have something cool. That's a mailer that we send out to all our supporting members, and it's coming very soon. It's getting higher and higher on our to-do list, so it's going to be coming very soon. But first, this week's supporting members,
Starting point is 00:32:34 Big Langford, not just a small town in Northeast South Dakota. It's also a supporting member. Big Langford, one is Office Easter Egg Hunt. Tommy, have you ever been to Langford before? Langford, South Dakota. Yeah. I think, what is, is there a bar there?
Starting point is 00:32:56 I'm sure there is. Or a restaurant. It's east of Eden. No, it's not. Isn't it west of Eden? It might be west of Eden. Just thought it sounded good, like a book title or something. It's relatively close to Eden.
Starting point is 00:33:14 Is it though? Well, people from Eden, I think, go to Langford now. They used to go to Roslyn. Oh, it's actually not that far. Okay, I've been to Eden several times, actually. You know what the Eden school mascot was when there was one? No, I do not.
Starting point is 00:33:32 I think it was the muskrats. Really? I think their genuine mascot was the muskrat. Wow. Insane choice. Muskrat. It's a bold movie. Yeah, Langford.
Starting point is 00:33:46 Yeah, I'm looking. I actually don't think I've been to Langford. Is it east of Eden or is it west? It's west of Eden. Oh, yeah. Yeah, because that checks out. Eden's kind of straight north of Webster and Langford's like straight north of about Andover. Yeah, yep.
Starting point is 00:34:00 See, I was thinking of, you know what I was thinking of? I was thinking of what, oh, like Frederick. Yeah, further west yet. Yeah, that's what I was thinking of. I don't think I remember Brendan Langford. I have to add it to the list, the list of destinations. Yeah. Let me just get this.
Starting point is 00:34:19 right here. The population was 283 in 2020. A lot of lakes in that area. Yeah, the lakes are a little more east still, though, of Langford. Yeah. You're right. You're right. Yeah, Roslyn too. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:34:33 Yep. Roslin. Do you know who's from Roslin? Well, I know a lot of people from Roslyn. I think Rosalind has some sort of museum in it, too. It's like the vinegar museum or something like that. Oh, you're right. God.
Starting point is 00:34:51 Is it the Binger Museum and Roslin? What? I'm very familiar with these towns because they're all the other B schools that we play sports against all the time. See, so it's all very small towns. My corner of North East South Dakota, we were too big for these schools. Like legitimately you were, you would be like, well, we weren't going to Roslin and Lankford, but I was going to Rosalind and Lankford.
Starting point is 00:35:13 Yeah, you know, like our graduating classes were between 70 to 100 people. We couldn't go to schools that had an average. were all 20 or 10 or less. Roslyn, like, closed down there, were probably 10. This is, like, totally a dad fact that my dad would have for me, but I know I've seen this on the sign for Rosalind. It is the hometown of Myron Floren,
Starting point is 00:35:33 the accordionist on the Lawrence Welk show. Some real, really, I actually, as you started to talk, I'm like, I think it's something related to Lawrence Welk. But Lawrence Welk himself, where's he from? Someone's from Hekla or Houghton. Someone, Lawrence Welkish is from Hekler or Houghton.
Starting point is 00:36:00 Yeah. What I was going to say is, isn't, what's his name, Tom Broca, isn't he from Webster? Yeah. You're thinking Brock Lesner. Isn't Tom Broca from South Dakota? Yeah, he's.
Starting point is 00:36:15 Tom Brocah. I was born in Webster, South Dakota. Yeah, okay. I don't know about Hecla. Okay, I think it's Houghton, and I think it's someone else Lawrence Welk adjacent. So big Lawrence Welk presence here in Northeast South Dakota. Oh, January Jones, the actress, lived in Hekla until she was 10 years old. January Jones from Mad Men?
Starting point is 00:36:37 Yeah. Lived in Hekla? Yeah, until she was 10, and then she moved to Sioux Falls. Like, you knew she from Sioux Falls, though, right? No, I did know that, actually. I didn't know the Hekla connection there. Me either, because that's insane. Like, it's not crazy to be from Sioux Falls.
Starting point is 00:36:50 It is insane to be from Hecla. Yeah, it is. And to be January Jones from Mad Men. Oh, man. This is some deep South Dakota history right now. Big Lauren hit a family PR. Baby Bow was born at 1257 and became our youngest ever crew member at 103, six minutes after birth.
Starting point is 00:37:18 signed up for his supporting membership to be a part of the crew. That's priorities. I had gotten a heads up to expect. I think his prediction was even shorter than that, but it took six minutes. It must have been a slow internet connection. It's going to be the record. First one to hit four years of,
Starting point is 00:37:36 of the youngest. Supporting membership out there for a birthday. Right on his fourth birthday. Yeah. A lot of guys had to wait decades for that. I hope he wasn't listening for the bad names that I called the people on the wrong line of the sand. He's like, dad, what does Dufus mean?
Starting point is 00:37:52 He's like, son, you're not old enough to know about Dufus. He's a big Pavlo competed for the first time since a double tricep tendon rupture. He competed at Natural West Coast Championship at 105 kilogram. He ruptured both of his biceps at the same time doing a Viking press, I think. Really? Or tricep, right? Oh, are you ever?
Starting point is 00:38:18 That's a trice up, right? As I said. Was it on a Viking press or am I making that up? I don't know. Sounds brutal either way. Someone in the chat will probably remember, but something like that. It was not good.
Starting point is 00:38:29 Big Debo and Big Misses. Oh, there's Pavel right there. Yep. Viking Press. Oh. Insane. Terrible. But awesome that he's back in the saddle.
Starting point is 00:38:39 Big Debo and Mrs. Debo competed in Indiana's strongest man slash strongest women. woman. Heather got first place in her novice class, and Debo did not get last any set of deadlift PR in the process at 445. Oh, hell yeah. Big John Corey, one of the men with two first names, competed at World Strongest Manatee.
Starting point is 00:39:01 World Strongest Manatee in Tampa. Love that. Got third place in novice lightweight at WSM. Very nice. Big Matt C competed in a powerlifting meet. You went nine for nine with a bench. PR and a deadlift PR both. Big Tanner P
Starting point is 00:39:19 of owner runs power lot collars hit a new family PR with the birth of son Big Henry. The whole world calls him Hank. Big Shane R won the Miltth March Madness Bracket
Starting point is 00:39:36 meaning yes that's right Hall of Fame checkmark number number whatever winning a contest is. number 11. Big Shane R, check it off, baby. You just won a contest for Massonomics. The hardest, most elusive check to get on your Hall of Fame checklist,
Starting point is 00:39:57 and he just hit it. There's some guys that would do some unspeakable things to get that checkmark. I've seen it. I've felt it. And I'm a straight man. Big Andrew was this week's guest on our braddy little sister podcast. Another perk of becoming a supporting member is you could make it on our sister podcast. unpaid and underrated.
Starting point is 00:40:17 If you're in the crew, in the community, you get involved, you got a good shot at getting on there as a guest someday, getting interviewed, getting your backstory to share with the rest of the crew like Big Andrew this week. Thanks to everyone, supporting members. All right, do we want to get our guest spooled up here? Yeah, does that mean we're going to do
Starting point is 00:40:37 certified training facility and radar report later? Or should we do... Yeah, we can get him going here. We can get them going and we can back and do that. we run the show. We can do whatever we want. I'm going to start booting people. You can read one ad and then we'll be out ready. Yep. This week's episode is brought to us by our fine friends over at barefoot.
Starting point is 00:40:57 Dot store. Barefoot shoes, minimal design, maximum performance. That's right. The Ursus is the ultimate training shoe. It features a wide towbox, zero drop platform and the flexible construction designed to support, natural movement and stronger feet. I can vouch for them because I wear them. I wore them to work today. Walking from my vehicle to the inside from the parking lot,
Starting point is 00:41:24 I thought, man, this tow box is wide. It feels comfortable. My feet feel free. Even in the wind, it still felt okay. I was like, toe prisons, not for me. I'm a freedom man. I love freedom like when this country was proper, and that's what barefoot shoes remind me of.
Starting point is 00:41:42 Check out. Check them out yourself at barefoot. dot store. When you're there, whatever you purchase, whatever that might be, use discount code Masonomics, because it saves you 10% on any pair of shoes from Barefoot. Thank you, Bearfoot. Are we really doing this guest thing again?
Starting point is 00:42:03 We've seemed like we just had a guest. We're going hog wild on these guests lately, aren't we? Yeah, Big Roarman. Is that you? It is. Have you ever heard that song before? Once or twice. Oh, what's happening? Longtime, no see.
Starting point is 00:42:26 Yeah, yeah, live in the dream. How are you guys? Good. Good. Good. We're great. Are you sitting in, have we been in that room before where you're sitting right there? You have.
Starting point is 00:42:38 Yeah, it's painted since you've been here. Oh, would you paint it black like the Rolling Stones? Navy blue, although I like the Rolling Stones reference. So we'll go with black. You said Navy Blue. Go Army beat Navy. Am I right? Yeah, something like that.
Starting point is 00:42:55 I couldn't care less about sports. It was more of an Army Navy thing. Not so much sports, just military branches. Yeah, there you go. Big Rory Ellis. Were you on the show briefly for one point when the song came out? Did you come on the show? I couldn't remember.
Starting point is 00:43:18 I don't believe so, no. Oh, so is this the first time you've been on the show? Yeah, I would remember that. Wait, have you ever been on a phone call even on the show? I haven't, but so I know where you guys are going with this. I have had my voice on the podcast because of the song. So technically, number 12 was already checked off. Right, okay.
Starting point is 00:43:37 I can remember if when you did the Drink Spotter contest, if we had you on here or not, but I guess, I mean, you would know. Yeah. Yeah, no, I don't. Okay. So for anyone that hasn't figured it out, no Sherlock Holmes out there that haven't figured it out. Big Roarman is the man that wrote,
Starting point is 00:43:58 we used to be a proper freaking country. We sure did. This was the inspiration right here. Little red, white, and blue. Yeah, and it's on Spotify, right? It is, yeah. Yeah. Do you, like, do you have any knowledge of
Starting point is 00:44:16 anyone that's come across that song like that anyone's ever mentioned it to you that maybe like wasn't aware of anything massonomics and it's like what is the song what is this about yeah so my family in general was like I don't I don't understand what this is and it wasn't even worth trying to explain it's like yeah it's a podcast it's you know whatever could they did they recognize though that it's a catchy tune oh yeah yeah for sure I'm actually I'm actually pretty proud as a song, you know, the writing, I think, is pretty solid. Oh, I'll still say, you know, we've done over 50 gym tours, maybe 60 at this point. I don't even know.
Starting point is 00:44:56 I mean, that's still an all-time highlight. I mean, biggest surprise, I think, we've ever gotten on a tour. I had no idea that was coming. And, yeah, that's an all-time highlight for me of all the gym tours we've done. Mount Rushmore moment for you guys. It's on the Mount Rushmore. So then another way that people might know Big Roar Man from our. history is we did do the gym tour that what what month was that that we were in there it must have
Starting point is 00:45:23 been october because i was supposed to be gone i was supposed to leave and then you guys came because my my army school got canceled because of the government shut down okay so it must have been that that seems crazy that that was like half a year yeah already yeah that's pretty wild yeah i guess time really does fly when you're having fun it's what they say and then another thing if you don't know Rory from any of that, you might know them if you're a home gym or a gym user of any kind. You make some stuff and sell some stuff for gym life. So what's the name of the company and what is it that you sell? Yeah, the company is called Rorman Strength.
Starting point is 00:46:02 And I started as lever arm handles called the Megalith Handles. That's our, my flagship product. I say R because it sounds more professional, but it's just me. But Roman Strength, yeah, it's turned into a bunch. of different things that surround the megalithandals still, but hopefully later this year, I'm going to branch off and get another completely unrelated to the megalithanil product that I'm very excited about. Oh, so is it top secret, though? It is just because it's not really, it's not even close being ready. It will not be ready at home gym con. Okay. So,
Starting point is 00:46:35 unfortunately. And there won't like be secret teasers of it at home gym con? Probably not, no. Yeah. But for like us, there could be. Yeah, yeah, after this call, I guess. Uh, yeah, no, you have your website, of course, but the megalith handles, the megalith handles are for sure for sale on rogue. Is there any, do you have, is that, do you have, yeah, so else for sale on rogue too, or? So they are, we're in talks right now of getting the holy handles on there. Okay. The holy handles are an attachment for the megalith handles. So you're able to get a neutral grip in a 45 degree angle.
Starting point is 00:47:10 Um, so those will be on the road website very soon. Currently, they're out of stock, uh, at the time of this recording, uh, but they should should be back in stock on Rogue in next week or two. So we talked to, oh yeah, go ahead, Tommy. I was just looking here,
Starting point is 00:47:23 Tanner on the topic of the megalith handles. I was on this little website called Jim Radar. I was looking up the Robben Strength brand profile here. And, you know, megalith handles, 18 gyms. I feel like we've been in a fair number of gyms ourselves
Starting point is 00:47:36 that have the, uh, the megalith handles in them too. That's awesome. Yeah, it's a cool source. Yeah, I don't know who's behind that over there,
Starting point is 00:47:44 but I really like those guys a lot. Pretty cool. Yeah. I think we need to make that a recurring thing that we keep pretending we don't know. Like we don't know the guys. Who those people are over there. Yeah. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:47:56 Whoever's doing it. They're doing a stand-up job. Yeah. Bang-up guys over there. That's it. Also, yeah, the reviews are very high on the Megalith handles on Jim Radar. So there's 4.9 out of five. So nearly perfect.
Starting point is 00:48:13 So we just got to find whoever these people are that didn't give it a perfect 5.0 and hunt them down. Yeah, on the live them. I did actually look the, a couple weeks ago. And when, when I got the cards in the mail and I was like, oh, I'll check this out. And I think the biggest thing is just price. And that's, that's going to be, that's going to be the downfall of the value section. They're not cheap because I'm a small manufacturer. So I have to order in small batches. If I was able to order a thousand of them at a time, I could probably cut 100 bucks off the price, but it's just not possible right now where I'm at.
Starting point is 00:48:48 Also, it's kind of a premium product, and that is the that's the way, I mean, really nothing with enough reviews has a perfect 5.0 rating on there too. So, like, that's going to be the same for any, like, if you take like MB Power Center, who makes really nice strong man equipment, his stuff is mostly all going to be build quality and performance, a five star. And then the value is going to get a little bit of a lower rating
Starting point is 00:49:13 because his stuff's expensive, but it's also like the highest, you know, some of the highest end stuff that you can find there. Yeah. So, yeah, I mean, awesome. So yeah, we're happy to have you on Jim Radar. That's sweet.
Starting point is 00:49:24 And yeah, you've got cards that are going out too, right? Yes. Yeah, the last about 30 or 40 orders have a card that says, you know, romance strength is on Jim Radar. I love that the back of the card, anyone that gets us will understand it, but the back of the card, the phone picture is Brandon's basement gym. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:49:41 I should have had one with me. I didn't have one, but yes. We asked him for permission. He said, I would be honored. Like, all right. Yeah. I'm just going to get a sticker of my gym and just sticker over every one of those cards. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:49:55 What? So we used to be a proper freaking country. You surprised us with that song when we were there. And I know we talked about it in person, but what was like your process for for writing the lyrics on that song? Oh, yeah. That was really fun, actually. That was the good old control F.
Starting point is 00:50:10 So I was able to find, trying to find that transit. of every podcast and thank God for control F. I just controlled F proper, the word proper or country, whatever. And every time that the words proper country came up in a podcast, I just noted the ones that I liked. There were a lot that I did not get it in. Like one of the ones I really wanted to fit in there was Tom was talking about underwear, just how expensive it is and how like the quality. I was like, I got to fit this in there somewhere. It didn't fit in the way I was the way I wrote. it but I think I also wrote it like two days before you guys came so yeah maybe it'll be a version two down the road oh yeah the sequel I like yeah like eight more verses because I remember
Starting point is 00:50:53 listening to it being like we talked about these things like he's not just making stuff up and you're like oh no because it's not like it was just one pod like we've been talking about it for so long and so I'm like how did you remember all these you're like oh I was able to track a lot of them down through transcripts I'm like ah that's yeah there's some real source of truth then yep no AI was used. Just control F. That's good. Which honestly is AI in general.
Starting point is 00:51:18 JetGPT is a control F for the entire internet. It's control Fing the internet. Yeah. Yes. Okay. So we've got a special game that we hand created for Roar Man. And what we want you to do is blindly rank these five things as indicators of when we used to be a proper country. So we're only going to give you one out of.
Starting point is 00:51:43 time and you have to tell so that first one you have to decide where it goes in one through five and you don't get to rearrange them as we go i'm familiar with the game okay okay okay so this is rory blindly ranks five things as indicators of when we used to be a proper country first one Kenny Loggins topping the charts. That's a good one. I think there's going to be better one. I'm going to put that at three. We'll go middle of the road.
Starting point is 00:52:18 Okay. We'll go three. Three. Okay. Okay. On that one, was that something we said on the podcast? I don't even remember.
Starting point is 00:52:25 Oh, yeah. It was really. That one might have been a meme. Some of them came from memes. Okay. And I think that was one of the memes. Gotcha.
Starting point is 00:52:34 Yeah. Okay. The Coors Light Twins. How much of an indicator of when we used to be a proper freaking country? I'm going to go a little deeper than just the twins, but I'll say as a straight, oh, gee, sorry, as a straight man, when beer commercials just had pretty girls and bikinis, I mean, that was, that was a proper, proper freaking country. So I'm going to, I'm going to go two on that one. Okay. Because just, it's the Coors Light, obviously, the twins.
Starting point is 00:53:04 are great, but I think that was more reminiscent as a collective culture. It's symbolic of old beer commercials. Absolutely. We'll go to. Okay. I feel confident on that one. All right. So two and three are taken.
Starting point is 00:53:17 All right. As an indicator of when we used to be a proper country, smoking cigs, smoking cigarettes. As someone that grew up as an asthmatic. It really takes you back. It takes me back. I actually do. I actually did it. I do have very good memories.
Starting point is 00:53:39 I go into Pizza Hut. Yeah. Family and being seated in the smoking or non-smoking section. It was always the furthest one away from the smoking section. Jokes on everyone. It was all the smoking section on that one sealed room. That's a former asthmatic. I got to go four.
Starting point is 00:54:00 Okay. Okay. Okay. All right. best and last all right so riding bicycles without helmets that might be one you look like such a dwee when you wear a helmet I'm sorry Lance Armstrong and all those guys
Starting point is 00:54:24 unless you're going 30 miles an hour you don't need to wear a helmet you just look like such a dweeb I never I'm not bragging about this but I never wore a Like, I didn't even know a kid that owned a bicycle helmet. I think, like, to be an indicator. I'm not even like saying it out of people trying to be tough. I just, I don't even know if I don't buy bicycle helmets when we were kids. I don't know if they existed.
Starting point is 00:54:46 Like, if you would have rode down the street in a bicycle helmet, I'm not saying you need to worry about your public image too much, but you would have got beat up. Maybe not beat up. You would have got that people would. I don't even. even know if you would have got teased it would have been like what is that yeah like you've never seen anything on someone's head that's not a hat you wearing it's a hard hat yeah i'm gonna
Starting point is 00:55:16 i'm gonna roll the dice on this one and say five because i think number one is got to be reserved for something really good okay but i'm strong on the dweeb thing i know we're throwing out the big d words so sorry but sorry any young kids that are we're listening okay i think you made it safe because the last year, an indicator of when we used to be a proper country, drinking water straight out of the garden hose. I mean, if it wasn't my number one,
Starting point is 00:55:45 I'd still have it as number one. So yeah, yeah, that rubber taste, those slight copper. I don't even know where there's copper in this hose, but it tastes like copper. It really does,
Starting point is 00:55:58 doesn't it? Yeah. I think they make special garden hose that are, that are branded as drinking water safe. Oh, geez. You know, that's not proper country. That's not proper country set at all.
Starting point is 00:56:11 That's like 15 if I was on the list. Yeah, yeah. So I think that's pretty good. You ended up with drinking water from the garden hose, obvious number one. Then I think Coors Light Twins, beer commercials, Kenny Loggins, topping the charts,
Starting point is 00:56:28 smoking cigs, riding bicycles without helmets. That's great. Which are really all good indicators of when it used to be a proper country. So there's really no wrong answers there. So I passed. Yeah. Great.
Starting point is 00:56:40 Did pass. I passed. You have very, very solid answers. How did you feel about the performance of your gym tour? Got good views and a lot of positive comments on it. Yeah. Yeah, I liked it a lot. That was good.
Starting point is 00:56:53 Way more positive comments on the coupon. Was there actually negative ones on that one? So actually, I'd say that out of a joke a little bit. Yeah. Yeah. He tried, he tried something new with the videography at that time. Yeah, that's right. Yeah, that's right.
Starting point is 00:57:06 And every comment. Yeah, every comment was so positive. Everyone's like, and there's a lot of jokes about like me being a more jacked coop, which is hysterical. Cooper and I have talked about that off while I know quite a bit. It's pretty funny. The joke would be not to make fun of Cooper to be like if coop lifted. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:57:26 My daughter is actually, when you turn it on the TV, it's a smart TV like everyone is. and it has like all the apps at the bottom and the YouTube one was there and one of the Coup videos was up and my daughter's like, Daddy, it's you. I'm like, what? That's Coupe.
Starting point is 00:57:43 Are you kidding me? Look at me. All you got to do me like that. Everyone knows I left. Coup got a good laugh out of that. But yeah, the only negative comment was the choppy video. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:57:55 I was like, I can't even watch this because it's so choppy. But other than that, everything was great. People do also like to say, I can't even watch this, insert something that's super minor. Like, yes. Like, that's, we've definitely noticed that before.
Starting point is 00:58:07 Like, oh, this is almost unwatchable because of something that most people didn't even notice. Yeah. Like that, that's a little dramatic. Yeah, that, that, yes, dramatic is a good. I literally, I literally can't even watch this. Literally. That's, uh, talking about Coupe though, too. Like, when did you first start?
Starting point is 00:58:29 making anything for sale and like when did it take off? You know, was there a hockey stick moment when it kind of like got bigger? Or like what was the timeline? Yes, I launched two years ago like two weeks before Christmas, which is probably a really bad time to launch a product. At least I thought so.
Starting point is 00:58:49 That's not that long ago. I could have sworn that it was like longer than that. Yeah, and it was only two years ago. So that had been 2024, I guess. Well, it was 2023 technically January or I'm sorry, December of 2023. And so I guess I go a little over that. But regardless, it's right before Christmas, I saved up like, you know, I took some money out of our savings and did this. And my wife thought it was crazy. She was not on board with the idea of me taking a few grand out of the
Starting point is 00:59:14 out of our savings to make this product. But I'm like, I only made 10 of them. I said, if I sell these, I'll make our money back plus a thousand bucks or whatever it was. I'm think it will do good. Well, and it did sold them basically eight out of 10 before Christmas. which I thought was insane because most people are spending money on their on Christmas gifts for their kids and whatever. So they sold out pretty quickly and then Coop got a hold of them pretty quickly, probably six months later maybe ish ballpark. And then I just got a DM from garage and reviews and it said, hey, we really want to check this out. I was like, okay. So I sent him a pair of course, obviously.
Starting point is 00:59:54 And he messaged me DM and it was just a video of him saying, like, dude, he did it. These are sweet. And I was like, that was the moment. I was like, okay, sweet. And then honestly, it's from that point, he never actually did a review of the megalithandals. There's really no dedicated review of the megalithanel out there.
Starting point is 01:00:16 But Kupas mentioned them in several videos, whether it was a Halo arms from PRX or the Griffin arms from Griffin or whatever they are. He's mentioned them so many times that it's just taken off from there. And then, of course, Gluck got his hands. once Brandon recently got a pair. So, yeah, it's been, been wild. That's sweet. We actually also, when we were at Gunner, Peter,
Starting point is 01:00:40 I mean, we had talked to you, he'd be on the lookout for him. But yeah, he had him on his rack there. And what an insane gym that is. Yeah. Yeah, he's crazy. He's, so actually before you guys got there, he, he threw away like two shipping containers full of equipment that got ruined from rain and whatever.
Starting point is 01:00:58 And I was like, Gunner, you got my phone number. Call me. I'll take all that stuff off your hands. It was like, it was rusted. The upholstery was ripped. I'm like, I don't care about that. I'll tape the upholstery. Yeah.
Starting point is 01:01:08 But yeah, he had to throw away a lot of it. He said he was like at ease with it because he's like, I'm at peace with this because it was, you know, he was going to repair it and do all the stuff. But he decided just to toss it because he's gunner and he can. Gunner's thrown away more equipment than he need the rest of us of her own or ever will own. Ever will. Yeah. Yeah.
Starting point is 01:01:27 Yeah. He's got a couple pairs. And he was actually the reason I made the Quick Attack Bracketka, which are the Capstones. He had a pair, and I basically asked him, I said, hey, what could I do to make this better? He said, honestly, I love the product. I wish I could take it on and off the rack faster. So I made him the Quick Adackch Bracketka. So he was a reason that that product exists.
Starting point is 01:01:46 That's cool. I should have called it the Gunner, but I didn't do that. Yeah. It's a good name, too. Yeah. Okay. So you had a booth at home JimCon last year. You're going to have one this year.
Starting point is 01:01:56 Are we pretty close to each other? Did we discuss that? Yeah, I think we're really close, yeah. We're both like by the rep, you're at one corner and I'm on like this corner. We're like right there. We'll be able to like throw things at each other for. Oh, yeah.
Starting point is 01:02:10 And we will. Are you competing at home Jim Conn again this year? I'm toying with the idea, actually. I think last time we talked, I said no because he was wild. And at my booth now is very far away from the strongman competition. Right. But here's the thing. Brian Shaw's got a booth.
Starting point is 01:02:30 And if Brian Shaw hands out awards and I miss the opportunity to get an award by Brian Shaw, I'll be very mad at myself. So I am toying with the idea. Kurt has not put out the events for it yet. Not that it really matters, because I'll probably do it anyways. But we'll see. We'll see. I really want to. But the businessman side of me says it's probably a stupid idea.
Starting point is 01:02:53 Last year, last year was pretty different. And that was, I mean, my booth was in the perfect spot if I was going to compete in the strongman competition. And it was still difficult. Right. So logistically, I don't even know if it's possible. Tommy and I had to make those similar decisions, but, you know, not identical, but kind of fairly similar before. Yeah. When we do that.
Starting point is 01:03:13 And it is tough because if you're a person that competes in this stuff and you're at it and you're right there and it's fun, you desperately want to do it. Yeah. It's like I want in on that because that is what's fun. It feels like there's a giant party and you're not a part of the party, you know. Yeah. Yeah. Because even if you're right there, even if you have a booth, even if everyone knows who you are and all that stuff, it's like, well, I didn't. I wasn't in.
Starting point is 01:03:40 I wasn't the guy doing the thing. Yeah. And again, just with the Brian Shaw thing. I'm like, I would really suck to not get an award from Brian Shaw. Because last year, I got third in my class. it was handed me by Nick Bass, which is cool. But, um, you know, Brian Shaw's Ryan Shaw's world strongest man. Nick Bass is very cool, but he's not a little strongest man winner. So, um, but yeah, I also got third in I think four out of the five events I did
Starting point is 01:04:07 completely cold because I didn't, I didn't have time to warm up. So like you didn't warm up at all at at all. At all. It's like, hey, you're up. I was like, okay, well, I guess we'll do this. It's, um, it's like big Sam at the lift hard, live easy classic. he comes, he was sitting in the audience wearing a robe. And like for his first attempt, he takes his robe off and comes and that's his first squad of the day is his first squad attempt in the powerlifting meet. That's funny. That's pretty great.
Starting point is 01:04:37 Yeah. I mean, I don't have that in me, but kudos for people that can do that. I would snap in half. Yeah. Okay. So home gym con, yes. Louisville, yes. an extra day this year, right?
Starting point is 01:04:52 Like it's a little bit longer. So do you have your hotel and all that stuff booked already? Yes. Yeah, I do. So are you staying in the hotel? I am not. Okay. Did you last year?
Starting point is 01:05:02 I didn't last year. No. So I'm a big Marriott guy. Just because for work, for work, I stay in Marriott's all the time. So it was 300 bucks cheaper. And yeah, that's basically the bottom line. Yeah. I get points.
Starting point is 01:05:18 Yeah. Sorry, Jake. no that makes sense i don't think any could well i mean you're paying to be a vendor i don't think you have to you're you're pretty much you're you're pretty committed to i figure i'm gonna hang out i'll hang out at the gulf anyways because britain from vendetta strength is uh gonna be my booth partner again and he's got a hotel room at the gault so i'll hang out there and mingle and do all the things and actually the marriott that i'm saying is way closer to the event center oh it's like literally 50 feet Tommy's never
Starting point is 01:05:49 been before like us so he wouldn't understand all this stuff. I'm more kind of a French lick guy really anyways. Back when you used to be a proper freaking country. French lick is like when we used to be a proper country. You used to actually have to really want to do something. You didn't just accidentally stumble on into Louisville and go. You had to fly in somewhere and drive three hours on back roads to get there when we were a proper country.
Starting point is 01:06:15 Yep. That's uphill both ways. Yeah. I need it the worst taco bell you've ever ate out on the wage. Now that's when it used to be a proper country. It gave you no meat in your casadilla. Actually no meat. And the subway there, the sub I got the normal sandwich I ever, I always get subway,
Starting point is 01:06:33 which is not very often because subway is kind of gross. But it's like $25 for a sub and a drink. I was like, there's, it was 25 even. So I'm like, this person is obviously ripping me off. Yeah. I didn't think it was funny though. They did have a hand sanitizer thing. you're walking out of the subway that was like super high.
Starting point is 01:06:50 I'm like, why is that there? And then it's because that basketball player is from there. So that would be like his normal. Larry Bird. Larry Bird. When you said you don't really care about sports, you weren't joking when you didn't know. Yeah,
Starting point is 01:07:01 that guy says Larry Bird. He's got a good sandwich at a country club. They call Larry Bird sandwich. I've had that. Okay. All right. We've got a couple overrated, underrated topics that were handpicked.
Starting point is 01:07:17 We'll call this the. Roar Man over under. Do you know how to play the game? I do. I'm familiar. Okay. It's the thing we used to do. We really haven't done it again for a long time. Yeah, it's been a while.
Starting point is 01:07:28 Yeah. All right. So overrated or underrated. You have your druthers, all that. You can elaborate as much or as little as you'd like to. Overrated or underrated? Fong flip-flops. Oh, underrated.
Starting point is 01:07:43 Underrated for sure. Easy. Because everyone wears slides these days. And you guys have a beautiful pair of slides. And if I liked slides, I would totally rock those red slides. But I mean, I've got them on right now. Has it always been your go-to? Like, is that always been? Always. What are they? These are actually, uh, flojos. These are the Costco brand. Oh. So are. Tommy might not know this terminology. Would you ever refer to them as shower shoes? Yes. But those are the only the really
Starting point is 01:08:16 crappy ones. You get at the PX for $3. Do you ever wear those? I don't ever wear those. Those are hideous. I would ever touch those to my feet. Tell me, they call those shower shoes.
Starting point is 01:08:31 Yeah. It's an athlete's foot prevention mechanism. Yeah. Yeah, because there's black mold everywhere in the army. It's typically a reef. Yeah, I'm typically a reef guy, but my house, I'm so specific when I look like. These are my house ones, which is why I'm touching the bottom of them.
Starting point is 01:08:49 These do not leave the house, and they're very cushy, so they're comfortable. These are a Costco for like $14. But my normal on the street ones are a reef. Those are the best brand. I'll have to look for Costco the next time I go through. I'm pretty good. Nice and cushy. You're walking on a cloud.
Starting point is 01:09:08 Okay. What year did you join the Army? 2010 is when I swore, and I didn't. leave till 2011. Okay. I think this will be, yeah, this will be relevant then. Overrated or underrated ACUs?
Starting point is 01:09:26 Overrated, just because there's a terrible pattern. I mean, he didn't blend into anything. Literally anything. For anyone that doesn't know what are the, you know, what is the ACU? You know, it's a uniform. Yeah, the Army Combat Uniform.
Starting point is 01:09:41 And it is just like the old pattern, it was like a, you, You've probably seen it Digi-Cam is what they call it, I believe. Digital Camo. Yeah, this is a hideous pattern.
Starting point is 01:09:51 It's like sclerous. And. Gray's. Okay. So that is an ACU, the digital camo? Yeah. And that color.
Starting point is 01:09:59 That's a pattern of it. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. That specific one was the ASU and there was just a hidey. It blended in like the joke was it actually camouflaged with, it was supposed to be camouflage with everything.
Starting point is 01:10:11 And it was actually camouflage with nothing. Nothing. So they don't use that anymore. No. What do they use now? It's called the OCPs, which I couldn't tell you what that stands for, honestly. Oh, okay. I had no clue. It's like a multi-cam is what like a brand would call it. If you got like a gun holster, it's like multi-cam. It's like more browns and greens. It actually does blend into things pretty well. A little more traditional looking. Yeah. Yeah. And if you get the summers, the summers are actually relatively comfortable. I won't wear anything but the summer uniforms nowadays. So that's what I was going to ask because I was a, I only, I got in just after BDUs. Like there were some people that kind of still had BDUs, but I was never issued them.
Starting point is 01:10:55 And so I only had ACUs. And so the uniform today, like, is it the exact same, but just a different pattern? Like, are the patch, is everything the same? Like, does it, if my eyes were closed, would it feel exactly the same? Mostly. The material is a lot better in the summer uniform than the other one. I haven't worn a non-summer uniform in the last since I got back in about five years ago. But the only difference is the patches don't zip anymore.
Starting point is 01:11:24 It's a, it's a button. And like on the summers, everything's buttons instead of zips, like zippers because it breathes better. And it's a lot thinner. So the OCP ones I have now are actually kind of comfortable. So.
Starting point is 01:11:36 And I've always hated wearing the uniform. I've never been the person that's like, oh, I can't put it, take it off. Like, it's not comfortable at all. Like some people like to leave it on longer.
Starting point is 01:11:45 than necessary to, you know, I can't do that. Yeah. I'm going to take my top off immediately when I get in my office kind of guy and tell my commander tells me not to because he doesn't like it. Yeah. I loved, uh, I could go so long without washing the top or the pants. Like I could go insanely long without washing those. Yeah.
Starting point is 01:12:04 You ever, you ever do that? I usually go about a week. Oh, yeah. Because I'm, I'm, I can do a month. Yeah. Back in the day, I probably did go longer. Yeah. Or I don't know.
Starting point is 01:12:14 I live in the bear. because when I was originally active duty from 11 to 15. And I didn't have much to do other than workout. So I was probably doing laundry more frequently just because, you know, whatever. I had nothing to do, might as well. But yeah, I usually go a week. I'll take it home on Friday. And yeah, it sounds gross to people that don't know.
Starting point is 01:12:32 But those in the know are like, oh, yeah, yeah. Week and that's fine. Yes. Okay. Time you don't have any to add on this in particular to you because otherwise I'm going to round it off with this last one, I think. Nope, keep going. All right.
Starting point is 01:12:47 Last one, overrated or underrated, the Grand Ole Opry. So there's, the only reason I pause is because there's two, basically. The original grand old operas
Starting point is 01:13:01 at the Ryman. The Ryman's an amazing auditorium theater venue, whatever you want to call it. The Opry is also very good. It's more modern. It's not as historic. I think the Opry itself in Opry Mills
Starting point is 01:13:15 is like 20, year's old, but the Ryman's like 100 years old or something like that. It's close to it. Regardless, the grand old opery is definitely, I'm still going to say overrated. Let's say overrated. I'm going to say that. And here's why. Because the artists that are part of the grand old opery, they have to have, they have signed a contract that basically says like you have to perform this many times a year. You have to go to these events and do whatever. There's a lot of stipulations to become a grand old opera member, which is why you see a lot of like these like kind of pop country people,
Starting point is 01:13:52 which I'm not a fan of, like Kane Browns of the world and whatever, those kinds of poppy country. They're members of the grand old opera, but George Strait is not. It's like, right, that doesn't make sense.
Starting point is 01:14:04 So the opera as a whole, the system, I think, overrated, the venue, let's say it's still overrated, I guess. That's a hard one.
Starting point is 01:14:16 It's a good, It's a good music venue. Like seeing a band at the Ryman or the new Grand Old Opry, you're going to get a good live experience. Just because the room is built for live, live music. Okay. But the Granold Opry system, I'd say, overrated. Okay.
Starting point is 01:14:31 All right. Last one, bonus topic. Overrated or underrated, the Gibson-Less Paul standard. Ooh, the standard, you went specific. Okay. I think the standard is definitely underrated. because if my Gibson history is correct, I just watched a video on this recently.
Starting point is 01:14:51 The standard was really the one that was really sought after in the 70s. So like the 70s, there's a lot of errors of Gibson and they wanted the standard model. This is probably going over way too many people said, so I'll try to shorten this. A standard was basically what everyone had wanted.
Starting point is 01:15:06 And then they didn't make it Gibson for the longest time. They went through different owners and whatever. And they wanted the standard, I believe. And they didn't make it until like, the 80s they started doing the standard reissues and then they started selling like hotcakes again I can be wrong on the standard it might be the studio but I'm pretty sure it's a standard because the studio is a cheaper version and then what so was the custom what isn't the custom one of them too the custom shop yeah that's a good one that's it those are beautiful those are insanely expensive those just kind
Starting point is 01:15:32 of have all the yeah all the trimmings basically like they they usually have like my real mother pearl in lays all around okay binding everything is it's a little like top that's like the top tier of gibson less balls okay okay But the sought after ones are the standards because they had like the good pickup wood combination. They weren't super heavy. I think those are the ones that people really went after because they made them really well in the 70s. And they went through like this period where they kind of just destroyed them and weren't making the right ones until they kind of reissued them. Someone could fact should be on that.
Starting point is 01:16:06 Just comment down them below in the comments. We believe you. It sounds right. If I say confidence. Roy, you passed overrated underrated. So first of all, congratulations. I'm going to write that on my checkmark list right here. You know that means we're going to air this episode.
Starting point is 01:16:23 Perfect. Otherwise, great stuff, of course. We love following along with everything you've got going on. What if someone wants to buy holy handles or megalith handles or anything else? What do people need to do? Where do they need to go? Yeah, so right now, romanstrength.com is the only place to get them right now. because it's not even an option on Rogue.
Starting point is 01:16:45 And the only reason for that is because I told them to take it out of stock, so I don't keep getting, Rogue likes a quicker ship time. I'm able to tell my customers I have to, they're willing to wait a little longer, basically. So they'll be back in stock regardless. By the time this air is on the 12th, I think I heard in the greasy pre-show,
Starting point is 01:17:04 they should be in stock very shortly after that. So RomanceStrength.com, if you want to go support Rogue, if you're buying something from Rogue, you could get it from rogue fitness.com. You could also get them from PRX Performance.com. I think that's the website. If you purchase the Halo Arms, they're an option for those.
Starting point is 01:17:20 Our neighbors to the north and North Dakota. Absolutely. And then soon, they'll be potentially sold by Jimpin over in Europe. So I might have a European distributor. You're going to turn them into proper countries. I know, right? from freaking redcoats
Starting point is 01:17:42 yeah you know some good old Americana over there yeah awesome uh Rory thanks for coming on we'll see you in Louisville
Starting point is 01:17:52 in July yes sir awesome see you there I see you guys thanks really see you yeah yeah playing the cool beans
Starting point is 01:18:07 always feels like a throwback now doesn't it just take you back it does it reminds me when we're a proper country that's exactly what I was thinking Isn't it seem weird that we used to have a guest every week? That was always the show. It actually does seem really weird that that was like how just quickly that changes.
Starting point is 01:18:22 Yeah. But I guess you do like a year with five-ish guests and that, yeah, that'll change it. Yeah. Good stuff from the Roarman. Those the grand old Opry cool beans. Yes, straight from the grand old Opry. Yeah. What do you think about doing a certified training facility in the week?
Starting point is 01:18:44 We did forget about that, didn't we? Yeah, we better get on that. Or do we, what, what ad have you, have you read? I did juggernaut. You did juggernaut? I did juggernaut. All right. So maybe why you start looking at a certified training facility of the week,
Starting point is 01:19:00 I'll tell everyone about our good friends over at the Strength Co. You can check them out at the Strength.com. What did I just see Grant sharing that they were restocking? Was it bumpers that were coming back? I think bumpers. Yeah, I think so. Bumpers are back, baby. So if you do need bumpers,
Starting point is 01:19:20 check them out at the Strenco. We always talk about their black, e-coded, made-in-America, iron plates. They're the best in the game. They're the best in the business. If you want those, I mean, if you need, if you want iron plates for your gym, get those.
Starting point is 01:19:35 Can't vouch for those enough. If you want barbells, bumper plates, deadlift jack, stuff like that, you can check that stuff out also. but the plates, you got to get them. If you've never gotten your hands on them, buy a pair. Get yourself a starter pair of 45s. But before you know, you have a whole gym full of them.
Starting point is 01:19:56 Check them out, thestrength.com. Okay. I was just randomly clicking around, or first one I did here, Tanner. I went to this little site, Jimrader.com. I really like these guys that put this together. I went to the gyms page, and then I went sort by.
Starting point is 01:20:13 Oh, yeah. Actually, first I went to the advanced filters, and then I went to certified status. Okay, yeah. I just kind of scrolled through, seeing some of the gyms here. And, um, okay, I got actually got two here, man.
Starting point is 01:20:27 I'm second guessing my choice now because this other one. I've seen this before, and I didn't know this was, uh, certified. Okay, screw it. I'm pulling an audible. We're going to do. Audible. We're going to do this.
Starting point is 01:20:38 Omaha, Omaha. Okay. The gym we're going to do. We're going overseas. We're going to do. Germany here. Oh. And we're going to Beast in Black Barbell.
Starting point is 01:20:50 Yeah, this is something. I've seen this one before. This is a gym. And this is a basement gym. And man, does this look like a basement gym? This is insane. This basement just screams that it's in Germany or something too. It looks like how I picture a European basement looking.
Starting point is 01:21:13 Yeah. So, okay. Should we hop right into what this is? I mean, this is a bunker is what it seems like. Yeah, it's got that half dome shape to it. It looks like it's made out of bricks that were laid hundreds of years ago. And I wasn't going to know what the outside of this looks like. Like is it dug into the side of the hill?
Starting point is 01:21:36 Like what? I'm just, it looks like it has a big door on the front of it. But, okay, we'll take one photo at a time here. So the first photo, it is. Like, it's not that wide. You got enough room for your squat rack and some bars and a little bit of room on each side, but not much. And what do they have? What rack actually is this?
Starting point is 01:21:54 Because we're overseas here, so everything's all. Yeah, it's going to be different than what we're used to, right? It is. What rack? That's a Kingsbox Royal Squat Black SX-10. So that'll mean nothing to anyone listening. Yeah, actually even doing this website, never heard of King's Box before. but we got it though don't we yep we got it it's on our radar so he's got that on there and then
Starting point is 01:22:21 which and it's more of like a kind of a squat stand than a full rack you know yeah yeah um but then he has on the wall behind it he's has looks like a homemade gun rack he's got the rep ssb there's a few other barbells on there uh you know curl bar i can't tell what the other bars are tanner he got he's got the rep ss you said that one he's got the uh rep black diamond power bar so getting rep stuff must be a little easier he's got a rogue ohio bar um that multi-grip bar is the torus which i've actually seen some of those around who makes that strength that's what it's that's like the brand oh it is torus okay uh torus bar i don't know i think it's a overseas one also but yeah then uh some strength shop plates
Starting point is 01:23:12 Strength Shop is big overseas, isn't it? Yeah, I think so. I think it is. I've seen a lot of that. He's got a nice beast and black barbell. Yeah, Beast and Black Barbell banner behind his rack. He also has the Silly Goose Barbell Club flag. It's also a Gluck's Jim Die by Thigh flag on there, too.
Starting point is 01:23:30 Isn't that cool that those flags are over there in this place and this, this cool? In this supposed bunker in Germany. Yeah. It is pretty cool. Yeah. I'm looking at Photo 2. finally here. It makes it look even more ancient when you see this like
Starting point is 01:23:46 hole through the ceiling that I'd just, and the wooden door, the arch, the arch, the arch, the arch to it. There's a deadlift platform, a trap bar. We got a reverse hyper, a 45 hyper extension of some kind there. Do you know, does it
Starting point is 01:24:04 say what that is? Oh, I can probably. There's also that. I mean, I have a feeling it's something we're not going to know. That's why I'm curious, because I'm sure it is something we've never heard. He's got a Maxus hyper extension pro. The lat pulldown is ATX. The whole lot.
Starting point is 01:24:20 We're not there. Yeah, we're not there yet. Okay. Then there's like a kind of like an air dine looking bike in the corner. And then I'm looking at the other side of it here now. Yeah. So, okay. So I'm looking at the lap pull down.
Starting point is 01:24:31 That isn't it? Yeah. Well, there's a giant ATX sticker on it too. So I don't think I've seen that one either before though. No, I think that that's probably that one might not even like some of the TX stuff is different. It's like only, well, none of it's available in the U.S. as we talk, but like, it's like, I don't know,
Starting point is 01:24:49 it's almost like different website options depending on where you live. Yeah, it's much more of a bolt together kind of thing. But it's a pretty compact footprint, which is obviously good for a small space. He's got an adjustable bench, some chains, bands, looks like dumbbells of sorts, like a one-inch, looks like some one-inch plates, I think, there. I don't know. It's a wine,
Starting point is 01:25:13 this is a wine cellar. Okay. That makes sense. It actually looks like a wine cellar the way this thing's set up. Yeah. Do you see his wine collection in the fourth photo?
Starting point is 01:25:24 Oh, yeah. That's not a dumbbell rack. That is a wine collection. Yeah. Yeah. Oh, that's pretty cool.
Starting point is 01:25:35 Yeah. Yeah, this thing's insane. This setup is wild. Also a fan of, looks like, of a big, Lenny. I don't really know who that is.
Starting point is 01:25:48 Yeah, that seems familiar to me, but do you know who that is at all or not? No. It seems familiar, but I'm not sure who it is. It looks like I just looked here. It looks like he's kind of known in the bodybuilding community. Okay. Which makes sense why. Why we don't know who he is then? Right. Right.
Starting point is 01:26:10 Yeah, he's doing a lot with 215 square feet there. What I was wondering, though, Tommy, do you think you could get strong in the Beast and Black Barbell? Oh, hell, yeah. Yeah, getting hell of strong in the Beast and Black Barbell. Sweet. What about a radar report then? Do we have anything specific in mind for a radar report?
Starting point is 01:26:35 I mean, we got stuff we could talk about for sure. Okay, I actually didn't prepare anything specific this week, but we're going to talk to your radar. There's always something we can talk about. I really like what these guys over at Jim Radar are up to. You know, they're up to a lot, and it's pretty impressive, everything that they got going on there. I mean, less of a milestone now, but still a milestone, nonetheless,
Starting point is 01:26:59 we have crossed 13,000 reviews. Don't say it, yeah. Oh, yeah. Ladies and gentlemen, can I please have your attention? Every time, think like, oh, yeah, it didn't work this time, but just a little delay in there. Okay, what were you saying? We have crossed the 13,000 review mark, which is pretty impressive.
Starting point is 01:27:25 That continues to grow. The equipment list also continues to grow every day. That's what I was going to say. Yeah, that's what I was going to say. The equipment list has really, the approved equipment is getting up there. Yeah, you must have done some work on this thing today. I did some work on it today. I just looked at that right now.
Starting point is 01:27:44 That number got a lot smaller than what I remember. it's always a good feeling when that number gets smaller because sometimes it gets pretty big and the number we're talking about is our pending requests for gym equipment and as of the moment we speak it's the lowest that we've had it at probably a week now or so.
Starting point is 01:28:03 Several weeks I think, yeah. Yeah, but the thing about the equipment request list is if you ignore it for even a couple days, she can really balloon fast. There's no limits to how many pieces of equipment people bought on Amazon through the, Let me tell you. Anything you could ever dream of comes in 12 comes the exact product.
Starting point is 01:28:25 That's exact same thing in 12 brands. Are the product photos the same? Yes. Are the descriptions the same? Yes. Is it a different brand? Apparently. And we have them all.
Starting point is 01:28:38 Well, not yet, I guess. But we're working on getting them all. Actually, no. We'll never have them all because there's an unlimited number, I guess. otherwise Jim Radar just been very cool. I would say we're seeing a constant daily stream of new gyms coming in. Love seeing just every day a bunch new gyms joining users and gyms joining the site. So that's awesome.
Starting point is 01:29:07 You know, like that's what we want, obviously, of course. But it's just really cool. Like there's not a day that goes by that a whole bunch of gyms don't come up as new. Yeah. And what's interesting too is a lot of people don't publish their gym. So if you dig around on the website, you can see the number of published gyms. I mean, right now it's over 700. But there's many, many hundreds of gyms that are private and unpublished that you can't see as a user. And whether that's because the person's, I mean, there's a variety of reasons.
Starting point is 01:29:37 Someone might be waiting to add photos of their gym. They might just not want people to see their gym. and they just have a profile for their own personal reasons. But there are many, many hundreds of gyms behind the scenes that the public cannot see yet. Yeah. Okay. So is that a radar report for the week? I think so.
Starting point is 01:29:59 If you haven't checked out those equipment lists, make sure you check those out because, I mean, it's just super cool digging in on those most-owned equipment. If you go to that page, you can see that stuff in there. It gives stats on the total numbers of equipment. and all that with it. We're talking today. We've got some more features coming. Don't know when,
Starting point is 01:30:20 but there are some cool new features for the site that are in the works. There's a pipeline. Almost like there's weekly updates. You know, some of the stuff is a little minor and you might not even notice it depending on what you do and don't use the site for. But we're always making improvements constantly.
Starting point is 01:30:37 But there's a couple bigger things that we got in the works that should be very exciting. once we roll those out too. I don't want to give this away, but Tommy and I did have an interview with a very, within our community, this is a very well-known publication,
Starting point is 01:31:01 particularly within the Massanomics community. I would say that. It's a well-known publication within the Massonomics community. I feel like we've said too much, but we did have a big, interview with a with an um we had a big interview we had an interview with a big publication and it's going to be a little while before anything if anything surfaces on that but uh we're not
Starting point is 01:31:33 i think we're contractually obligated not to not to say what's going on there so uh but be on the lookout later this year for big things coming right exactly it was was a big interview. We'll put it that way. Yeah. Big. Very big. I had one other thing, you know, not to name names or get into the weeds because this
Starting point is 01:32:00 isn't the point of my thing, but you know how like some of the, sometimes when it comes to gym equipment reviewers, when people have something bad to say, those videos get a lot of popularity. Like, you know, you got something bad to say. Then people are like, well, I want to hear what they're saying that's actually bad because like a lot of times they're positive. So you're like the polarizing card. Yeah, the polarizing thing.
Starting point is 01:32:23 And it was making me think like how we could completely flip the script on our channel going forward when it comes to equipment reviews. Just be shitting all over still. You're aware of the restaurant dicks. Oh, yeah, yeah. You know, where you come in and they put like the dunce cap on you and they're like, hey, have a seat, you fat piece of shit. You know. They're just ranging on you the whole time. Yeah.
Starting point is 01:32:45 Be like, oh, look at how ugly this guy is. you know, whatever. This guy's definitely not straight. You know, they might say something like that. Yeah, but all the customers like it, you go there willingly because... You go there to be roasted. Yeah, I mean, like, this guy doesn't look straight at all. That's a deep joke.
Starting point is 01:33:04 But you go there for that, Risa. Uh-huh. What if our... What if equipment companies really wanted us to do reviews because we were just going to, like, make fun of their stuff? Yeah. But it was like a badge of honor. or the Dix Review Channel. That's the angle that not enough.
Starting point is 01:33:22 Too many people are going after the honest, unbiased angle. Right. I think some people need to go after the Dix angle. The Dix angle where we get something and be like, oh, look at this old floppy piece of crap. What's good this for? I might as well just throw it in the dumpster before I even unpack it. Yeah, I think that's what the people crave is the dick angle.
Starting point is 01:33:41 That's what they're after. That's what's missing from the home gym's face. You think there's, do you think there's an opportunity there? Yeah, I think everyone's approaching the problem from the same, from the same perspective. Right. Some fresh, some fresh angles on it. You're like, oh, thanks, Titan Fitness, make something that looks more like a rogue product. Why don't you?
Starting point is 01:34:06 You know, like, I don't know what the jokes would be. We have to sit down and really write some jokes. We have to work on that. That's not typically our style. I don't really have the jokes written yet. Yeah. Just have to imagine, I said something funny there. A real zinger.
Starting point is 01:34:18 Just boom roasted. So look forward to that, I think. But the trick is the companies want in on it. Yeah, they have to win these. You got to, yeah, it's also, yeah, roast is another good word for it. It's like, oh, the Massanomics roast of Temple of Gaines, you know, the Massanomics roast of PRX performance.
Starting point is 01:34:42 You know, I almost like the roasting of more because, yeah, they will at least. submit to it. You get all your friends together in a room. Everyone's having a good old time. Right. It's a once a year event. Like, what's not to love about it? Could we host a podcast roast where we have a guest? Like, we get basement Brandon to agree to it or, you know, insert person. And then we get like all the other people in the community to all come on and we just unmute them where it's like, all right, it's your turn. You get to shit on them now. But in true roast fashion, and they also roast everyone else that's in the, you know,
Starting point is 01:35:17 on the stage before they get to the main event. Right. Can air all their grievances. I feel like everyone would get really hurt feelings about it. They would, yes. It would be too many sensitive people to take it. Wouldn't there be? Yeah.
Starting point is 01:35:33 That's why it wouldn't work. You know, it also works a lot easier when you're, you've made millions of dollars and you're incredibly successful to just let people say to your face that you suck and you're a fan. You're like, well, I'll laugh when I go home to my millions of dollars and my model wife and all my stuff. Like, yeah, you can say what you want. And then like more regular people like, huh, damn it, I got to go back to my regular life now. Yeah, because if the jokes are, yeah, in his YouTube channel, only has 2.2,000 subscribers.
Starting point is 01:36:05 And he's like, dude, I'm trying hard. That's actually really hurtful. I haven't made it yet. Do you know how hard it is? This is oddly personal. You're actually really hurting my feelings right now. Like, you guys are kind of, you guys are assholes. Yeah, we'll have to work around some situations there, but...
Starting point is 01:36:30 Yeah, I think there's something there, though. What about it could be the roast of Ed Cohn? You could do that almost because everyone's like... Because you've achieved a lot more, yeah. Right, right. And we get like all these, you know, you get Dan Bell to come on. It's a little different crowd. You know, we're not talking to equipment anymore.
Starting point is 01:36:48 We're talking a guy here, but. And he could make, like, troll jokes about them. And some people would say taint stuff. Yeah, all the classics. Yeah, I could see that you get Kurt Kowalski on. That might work better. Yeah, it'd be an easier transition there. Or it's like the roast of Brian Shaw.
Starting point is 01:37:12 And you get Eddie Hall. You know, you get. I think some of those guys would just love that. Yes. I love to tell these stories about Brian, you know. Yes. Yeah, and then like Nick Best comes on and cries because he tells the story. That's how it would go.
Starting point is 01:37:30 Yeah. All right. There's something there. We'll figure. We'll iron out the rest of that by next week and you should see the first one. I have an accountability check from last week, Tanner. Oh. I'm a man of my word.
Starting point is 01:37:44 leg extensions are off the menu. Oh, were you, I saw it today. You were doing a split-ups. Leg extensions are no more. I can tell you, God, dang, have my legs been detrained from all this leg extension crap I've been doing? Do they feel sore from doing?
Starting point is 01:38:00 Oh, my God. They're actually so sore. I'm like, do squats even do anything? I never get sore from squats ever. Right. And I followed this up with some, just some, I mean, for me, moderately heavy split squats.
Starting point is 01:38:14 Oh, my, those things just, I mean, they weren't overly heavy. Like I'm doing it. I'm like, oh, these aren't that hard. And then like the last like two or three reps, I'm like, ah, it just got significantly more challenging, like in a hurry. And then, I mean, it was the thing of it's like the dumb meme of like, oh, leg day, you're all wobbly leaving the gym. And I'm like, I never get that feeling. And I mean, I can tell you I'm sore sitting here right now. Yeah.
Starting point is 01:38:42 And it's the beauty of it. It's not just my quads. It's my hamstrings. It's my glutes. It's my quads. It's all of it. Try doing that with a leg extension machine. So are you going back to the leg extension next week then?
Starting point is 01:38:57 I mean, if I get too tired, maybe. If I need an easier day, I will. It kind of feels like maybe it was just a distraction. That's what I'm telling you. It was actually alarming. I'm like, man, I can't help but think I've left. some gains on the table at the way these things shock the system all the sudden. We will be taking training a little more seriously around these parts now.
Starting point is 01:39:24 We're not going to be sitting down and exercising. We're going to be doing real lifting over here. Yeah, there's something about sitting on your ass feeling a little different than whether you're sitting on your ass riding two horses with one ass or just one leg extension machine. You can't ride two leg extension. machines with one ass. You can ride a combo unit with one ass. You can ride a leg extension leg girl combo unit with one ass,
Starting point is 01:39:53 but that's the extent to what you can do. You flip the dial, you actually can just do both without even getting up. It's just all it takes is one ass. That's it. That is it. I ran a mile. What?
Starting point is 01:40:06 The first time I, yep, first time I ran a full mile since my last knee surgery. How did they? Oh, pretty good. I mean, I didn't run fast, but like, it was more, it wasn't like, I wasn't doing it as a cardio test. I was doing it as like a knee check of like, well, can I do this now?
Starting point is 01:40:24 You know, like, I've slowly been like, can I do this now? Can I do that now? And my knees felt good, actually. Like my stride felt pretty good. Okay. And, you know, two day later, two days later, no soreness or anything like that. So is there anything that doesn't feel right on your knee now? Or is it mostly?
Starting point is 01:40:45 Yeah. But it's not not jogging. Or jogging is fine. Okay. Yeah, jogging is fine though. So that's a good. So I like that. You know what?
Starting point is 01:40:56 Okay, this actually just got me thinking now. We were one of them big, you famous YouTuber content creators. Oh, a content creator, not like us. Yeah. You know, like big time where we didn't have jobs and Massonomics and other full-time jobs like Jim Radar. Like we didn't have like five full-time jobs and we just had time. You and I think would be a really fun challenge for us to make as a YouTube video.
Starting point is 01:41:18 Be two. One would be like a NFL Combine type video. But we specifically, I think we would be like, nope, like we're picking the day. We're not changing our training at all. We'll just go do it. And then like a month or two months, you know, decide what that day is and see how much you can improve those numbers. Actually, I shouldn't say two videos. I just think that one video would cover.
Starting point is 01:41:40 I mean, it covers your basis pretty well between running, jumping, you know, all the stuff. Yeah, the shuttle drill. Yeah, the shuttle drill. And I'm more just interested in like a 40 time, a vertical. Yeah. Some of that other stuff. And the bench press, I guess.
Starting point is 01:41:55 And yeah. And like how much can you improve that over the course of a month or two? Right. I think, I mean, it would be fun to see if you actually train those things. Because we don't train most of those things. Right. See how not good we are right now. And then just like in a month or two, how quickly can you improve on some of them?
Starting point is 01:42:13 Yeah. other thing we could do that's just like that that I've thought about before is the Army fitness test and that could also be a fun video. It could be. Army, they don't do, well, yeah, those are more very, yeah, like you don't have just the pure numbers of your vertical and like broad jump and stuff there though, do you know, but the way it changed now it is like there's a, you know, there's a fall. Yeah, actually they got rid of that now.
Starting point is 01:42:37 Oh, they did. Oh, I think they just got rid of that one event, which I'm like, oh, that was like the most cakewalk event that you could ever possibly have. that you get an easy. Like if you're a big strong guy, that's the easiest event in the world. Yeah, there's a trap bar deadlift.
Starting point is 01:42:50 And, you know, I mean, we talked about it years ago, actually with somebody, but yeah, there's like a shuttle drill too where you do farmers carry,
Starting point is 01:42:59 sled drag, stuff like that. Yeah, that wouldn't be too bad then. And I think there's a, is it a plank now? I guess holding a plank. Something like that.
Starting point is 01:43:11 Planking. Like it was a knee tuck? Where you like, Like, yeah. You know what I was thinking would be funny content? It'd be like content creators creating 40-year-old content creators creating content. And then it's just like you doing a plank and then me doing like that Black Beatles in the city. You know, that song?
Starting point is 01:43:34 What was that called? I think it's just Black Beatles, isn't it? That girl is a real crowd, please. But that you would like freeze. or like everyone would be frozen. You know, like there was a... Yeah, I'm trying to think of what was it called. Just doing all the...
Starting point is 01:43:51 Oh, the mannequin challenge is what it was called. The mannequin challenge is there you go. Yeah, I know it was something. Like, yeah, what the hell was that challenge called? And we just, and it's like showing us doing like five of the most outdated. And then we'll do the Harlem shake on and do the order and everyone just kind of stands there. And then it gets crazy. You know, just all the classics of 2015, 2015, 20, 16.
Starting point is 01:44:09 You do like an ice bucket challenge, I guess. The ice bucket challenge. All the heavy hitters. Nothing's safe. Yeah. We're doing them all. Like planking again. It's like more blinks.
Starting point is 01:44:21 Starts and ends with planking. You had to be there, man. Planking. Yeah, you just had to friggin be there. All right. Is that everything for episode 523? I think we got it all. Got the entire list here.
Starting point is 01:44:39 Hopefully we can make it for one more episode so we can make that 10-year anniversary. episode. Stick around. We got a lot planned for the 10 year anniversary. It's next week already, huh? I think so. Better get cracking on that thing. I've never had the math right before, but I think it's approximately next week. After 10 years, I think this is the year that nobody argues with what the 10 year anniversary is. Yeah, 10th year's a charm on this anniversary business. All right, Tommy, where do they find you at? Well, wait a minute. Did I read, uh, do we read Build Fast Formula? I don't think so. Oh, Hold up.
Starting point is 01:45:15 Wait a minute. Build fast formula. It's just what works. Level up your life with innovative, clinically dose, and research back supplements. And for anyone that comments on YouTube that these are getting old, you can just frigg off. You can get out. Because we're just getting started, mother frie. We're going to do it more. Yep, just for that, we're going to two gym tours a week. Oh, what are you going to tell me next?
Starting point is 01:46:50 500 episodes of a podcast is too many. We got to quit that too. Good luck getting us to stop. We don't even know how to stop at this time. We'd probably have mental issues if we tried to stop. What are you going to tell me? Over 6,000 pieces of equipment in Jim Radars too many. We need less pieces of equipment.
Starting point is 01:47:06 Just getting warmed up. We didn't do this to quit. We did this to get more pieces of equipment. So, yeah. We're going to do more of everything. Stay tuned if you want more of everything. That's what you're in the right place because we got more of everything coming.
Starting point is 01:47:21 Tommy where do they find you out? You can find me at Tomahawk underscore D. And come into a circus near you. Oh, I wish I had the circus song. I would actually, I could, just second, can we kill just a little bit of time? Just need more time. Act like I had this ready.
Starting point is 01:47:44 Oh, yeah. Ladies and gentlemen, thank you for coming to the Yeldaz Shrine, 69th anniversary. Shrine Circus starring Tommy DeFay. Our feature performance, the YMCA by Tommy DeFay. He lived in Aberdeen for about 12 years and backed by popular demand. Here to perform the YMCA. He's definitely straight, even though it's the YMCA by the village people. When I say it out loud, it's making me question how straight he is.
Starting point is 01:48:26 But he assures us he is. Tanner underscore Baird, miss make sure to follow Massanomics at Massanomics. See ya.
