Starting point is 00:00:15 If you don't follow Massanomics, you all do it. Social media, website, everything. Massonomics! We are back for episode 540 of the Massonomics podcast, The Lifting Podcast About Nothing Season 2 Episode 40.
Starting point is 00:00:45 I'm a man. I'm 40. Do you know who said that, Tommy? Was that a football coach, wasn't it? Yeah. Who was that, actually? Jake's in the chat.
Starting point is 00:00:56 Jake, uh, Jake the snake should know. Mike Gundy, okay. There you go. Yeah, I couldn't remember.
Starting point is 00:01:03 Oh, that's Oklahoma State guy. Yeah, there you go. That I'm a man, I'm 40. Man, I remember at the time thinking that, guy was kind of old.
Starting point is 00:01:12 Now he ain't so different from you and me after all. Now I'm a man, I'm 40. Come at me. My name's Tanner. My name's Tommy. And this is going to be our Home GymCon recap episode. We went to Home GymCon, survived kind of, and we're back. And we got stories to tell.
Starting point is 00:01:37 We got old Home GymCon. 26 war stories to relive. But first, and also perfectly aligning with what the whole rest of the episode is actually barefoot shoes. All right. This is an ad, but it's also story time. Tommy and I are at home gym con walking around in our 90s sneakers, black and white thematic sneakers. which are glorified hollowed out bricks that have been painted a special color. Walking around for...
Starting point is 00:02:14 You could throw us in the river. You could throw us in the Ohio River in those and we'd sink to the bottom. And we're walking around on those for about 27 hours straight one day. The mob was known for finding people they didn't like throwing 90s and strapping shacknosis on them and tossing to the bottom of the river. There was no way they were floating back at the bottom of the river. top of those things on. Yeah. They're actual cinder block.
Starting point is 00:02:47 They're just cinder blocks that they painted really nicely. So we're wearing those, because it's kind of our signature look, is sort of the thing, right? Is it our signature look? I think so. It's one of our signature works. I think so.
Starting point is 00:03:01 We just said eventually are going to get to a point here where it's like, God, why are those guys wearing starter jackets? It's 90 degrees out. And they're talking on a gigantic brick phone. What's going on here? But the night of the banquet, I was like, yeah, I'm taking these off. My feet hurt.
Starting point is 00:03:24 They're hot. You know, these are, these are the, there's hotter than snow boots. Do you ever have snow boots when you're a little, like, fleece-lined snow boots that really, you did? Yeah, you had those. They're hot.
Starting point is 00:03:36 hotter than that. And I'm like, my feet are hot and they've been jammed in here all day. I'm putting the barefoot's on. And you did the same. And we both took about two steps out of the hotel. And I'm like, oh my God, does it feel like you're walking on like, pillow clouds? Isn't it amazing you remove all of that extra stuff and then it feels good to walk?
Starting point is 00:04:01 Like it's like the opposite of what you would conventionally, like you go to almost nothing barefoot. It's in the name. and it feels like you're just walking on a pillowy soft cloud. And that's really what it felt like. I'm like, oh, my gosh, this is like such a relief on my feet right now. And then we walked into the dinner and sitting with us, of course, is Ryan and Shelby from Barefoot.
Starting point is 00:04:25 We hung out with them quite a bit all weekend. Friends of the podcast, sponsor those podcasts. And I walk up, I told right away, I told him Ryan was sitting there. I go, Ryan, I got to tell you, we're just walking down the, hallway you know we wear those those shoes all weekend we put the barefoot's back on and I'm like immediately feels like I'm just walking on clouds and it goes yeah it's kind of the opposite way you'd think but it's how it feels and then you walk up about 30 seconds later and say the exact same thing to him and I was like I just told them that he's like oh I don't mind you guys can keep telling me
Starting point is 00:05:00 that same story he says I'm like oh can we record this time yes So if you too want to feel like you're walking on air, get yourself a pair of barefoot shoes at barefoot. Store. Use code massonomics. It'll save you 10% on any pair. If you didn't get yourself a pair at home gym come, that had a great booth set up there. Check them out. This episode is also brought to you by Juggernaut AI.
Starting point is 00:05:29 Juggernaut AI is the smartest program for you. Since 2009, Juggernaut has been your trusted training resource helping tens of thousands of athletes reach their goals. Here's how it works. You download the app and you tell the app all about yourself and your training goals. From there, the proprietary algorithms are going to work towards building the smartest program specifically for you. And it's going to take a look at all of your individualized programming.
Starting point is 00:05:55 It's going to see what your goals are, what you're trying to do, where you're at. It's going to take all that into consideration to make the best program for you. And it's going to make adjustments every step of the way. So you're going to check in at the beginning of each. day after each set at the end of the day and the end of the week to tell the app what's going on. So on those days you feel good, it's going to give you a little something extra. Those days you're not feeling too hot. It's going to dial things back so you can get recovered and get back on track.
Starting point is 00:06:19 I've been using Juggrenad AI for three-ish years now. Used to hit some all-time PRs, had some great meat preps. I highly recommend it to anyone that's looking for some powerlifting programming. I don't think you can go wrong with it. I use code Massenomics and you can save 10% on the life. of your membership. You have to do that on the website, that juggernautai.
Starting point is 00:06:41 Dot app. CodeMassonomics will save you 10%. Thank you, Juggernaut AI. One very important thing that I brought back from home, JimCon that I wanted to address was the bubonic plague. You decided to get one of those while you were there, huh? I have felt so bad. I just just unbelievably sick since getting home from home gym con so I don't know if it happened to anyone else
Starting point is 00:07:13 it may have been from the you know not sleeping and just doing stuff constantly like I'm sure that played a part but it is Thursday now the time of recording this I have slowly started to feel slightly better but I'm not sure if like a week from now at the rate it's going if I'll even be normal at this face. Very good. No. Luckily for me, I still feel pretty good. My wife seems to think that I'm just a ticking time bomb.
Starting point is 00:07:41 It's, she thinks, oh, well, Tanner got it. It's only a matter of time before you do. So I'm just playing, just counting my cards as time goes on here, see what's going to happen. I can't imagine what I could, what the situation was that I ever could have caught germs from someone there? Yeah. Like, I don't know when that would have ever come up. What on earth would you have?
Starting point is 00:08:02 touched another person or been in close proximity. So, you know what? It was those dang booth tours. I saw it. I recorded it. That's, I bet it was shaking everyone's hand
Starting point is 00:08:15 at the end of the booth tour. That's what did it. I bet it was one of those other content creators that was like, oh, we're taking them down. We're going, uh, we're going, what type of warfare would that be? Chemical warfare.
Starting point is 00:08:26 We're going chemical or biological on them. Yep. Commiting war crimes. What was that, stuff that people would put in the mail like in the early 2000s? Yeah, that's anthrax. We're sending them an anthrax letter. We're going to give them stickers with anthrax on them.
Starting point is 00:08:45 It'll be hilarious. Yeah. Give them the thrax. We used to be a popper country where people worried about anthrax. I never hear people talk about anthrax anymore. You know, I feel like that was like a middle school thing. That was absolutely a thing that was going. Now, wasn't someone mailing anthrax to like senators or something?
Starting point is 00:09:03 Wasn't that a thing going on? That's, I believe. I mean, there were certainly a lot of concern about anthrax. Yeah, it's funny. I think I haven't heard outside of the band. I haven't heard that brought up probably since middle school. What are you drinking something over there? Oh.
Starting point is 00:09:20 Yes. Polar. Raspberry lime. Can't go wrong. What did that? Sound like it reverberated the crispy crack over there. It was like one of the crispy. as cracks I've ever heard.
Starting point is 00:09:34 Oh, yeah. That's legit. I think someone gave this at the Lift Hardly Vee Classic. It's called a Kroger Sparkling Water. Strawberry lemonade. Sounds delightful. See how it. Oh, yeah.
Starting point is 00:09:52 Not half as crispy as your crack, but I'll take it. Oh, yeah. That'll make a turd. That's good. Okay. Home GymCon, 2026. what the hell happened well it was a crazy weekend
Starting point is 00:10:13 we showed everyone our stuff and tanner got sick all right on to the next thing yes all right got it covered next event oh where the hell do we start with this it was a let's let me let me put it in terms everyone might be able to relate to it was a crazy game of poker we lost it all
Starting point is 00:10:37 Can you name Tanner can go with that I'm not going with that telling That can be Tanner's recap Can you name that band No Crazy Game of Poker No
Starting point is 00:10:49 Isn't it OAR See I never listen to Check me Oh I think crazy game I think the name of the song Is Crazy Game of Poker Yeah I never listen to them
Starting point is 00:11:00 In my mind They felt to Dave Matthews band Adjacent And because of that I was just gonna ask What genre they even are I don't even know. To me, they felt too much like Dave Matthews band.
Starting point is 00:11:12 Whether they were or not, that was what I decided immediately, and I never went back. God, I didn't think that they were Dave Matthews band adjacent, but maybe I bet the wolves been told over my eyes on these year. I made that base off a split-second decision when I was 21 and never looked again. Do we have any O-A-R fans listening along live that could spread their OAR knowledge? Someone says, Scott here. I really do not, yeah, see Jam Band. I do not feel like they are scoff. Buckshire and Jason.
Starting point is 00:11:45 So we flew out really, really early as balls out of Sioux Falls like we normally would. Flights all went perfectly as scheduled. We got there really early. We were in Louisville by like noon, weren't we? Yeah, it went great. And Brandon Doyle, who basically made the whole entire weekend and trip. booth set up work for us was there to pick us up from the airport. He had already loaded up all of his stuff.
Starting point is 00:12:16 He had tested our booth out even in his dining room and set it all up to make sure it He was on time. He had it all loaded. He was there to pick us up. I mean, come on. He was just Mr. efficient over here.
Starting point is 00:12:28 And he even had a present. Do you remember what the present was that you opened? He had to be a buck cherry record when we arrived. I mean, I don't know how it gets any better. You get off a plane. Someone's there waiting for you. And they got gifts.
Starting point is 00:12:38 Like, come on. Yeah. So I don't have that here. You don't have it there or anything yet because that's actually something that's getting ship back to us now. But he was there. We went right to the convention center.
Starting point is 00:12:53 And did we get up the parking ramp? Yeah, we went right up there. Went right up there and unloaded. Basically, me, I mean, we had the truck unloaded within, what, 10 minutes? Yeah, and then there was. Ashton's guy. Jameson.
Starting point is 00:13:07 There you go. shout out Jameson for helping him. Shout out, I think it's supporting member Jared Martin. Yeah. Brandon or someone. Is that right? Yeah, I'm pretty sure he was right there. He was there.
Starting point is 00:13:19 Yeah, we just walked in the door and people were just helping fast. Oh, yeah. Deadliest Lift, Mark Rosenberg. Oh, yeah, he was there too. God. We're just getting hit with everyone right away, weren't we? Like, we couldn't even just people were helping before we could even ask someone for help. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:13:33 And like, Jameson was like, oh, I'll get a cart and a pallijack and all this stuff. And it felt like, all of our stuff was over to the booth before we even opened the door. It was. It really was. To get out of the pickup. Yeah. So it took like just a few minutes and then did we just go start setting up right away then? Is that how it went?
Starting point is 00:13:50 Yeah. And I mean that's just set up the booth two weeks ago. This one was a little different because there was a gym radar booth we had to set up for for the gym radar guys. But yeah, I mean it was I mean about as simple and straightforward as the setup goes, isn't it? Yeah, that gym radar was new
Starting point is 00:14:06 stuff for, you know, we had a TV for the time and set up this TV stand and all these like new gym radar pop-ups, but it all went very well. We could get into the weeds on booth set up, but it gets boring. Yeah. I'll say this. A big backdrop for your booth, because, you know, typically we have the shirt backdrop. A big backdrop for your booth is surprisingly affordable, surprisingly nice, and surprisingly
Starting point is 00:14:33 easy to set up. Man, they've got that figured out, don't they? Yeah, those are nice. It's just for the Massonomics booth. The Massonomics booth is different than a lot of other booths because the Massanomics booth is built to move merchandise in a somewhat efficient manner. Where if you watch a lot of other places,
Starting point is 00:14:50 that's not really what they're doing. You know, especially at like Home GymCon, there's not a lot of people moving merchandise on that day. So it was actually fun to be able to set up a booth like Jim Radar where we didn't have to do that as the primary focus. So we got set up and then we went did a impromptu home gym tour. I forgot about that, yes, because we were looking at how fast we were ahead of schedule,
Starting point is 00:15:16 how much we were crushing out. So yeah, we decided to go over to Brannons to get a tour in, which was really nice to cross that one off the list. Yeah, Brandon and Emily, both supporting members. So we got to tour their basement gym. That one will be coming out in probably just a couple of weeks, actually. So everyone will get to check that out. Several people got to go to O'Doyle Rules basement gym.
Starting point is 00:15:39 but even if you didn't, you're going to get to feel like you were there because you're going to get the full gym tour from us. It was a good one. Yeah, and then that wrapped up. What day of the week was that? Was that? Wednesday. That was Wednesday. So then Thursday morning, we, Thursday was our, so the Thursday at 4 p.m.
Starting point is 00:16:01 is when it opened to the public from 4 to 8 p.m. for the first time. but one to four was scheduled as like for content creators to do content. But we got up there and just did a few final touches on our booth. You know, the electricity wasn't working. Wi-Fi set up. A couple of those things. You can make sure the TV worked that and get all that, which didn't take too long.
Starting point is 00:16:24 We got all that working. Bugs worked out. And then we pretty much shot content for until right up until 4 p.m. actually went right until the buffer. So I think we probably shot content for like, I don't know, five hours or six hours or something like that. Yeah, five or six hours of content where we went around to our first videos out from Home GymCon already. I think that's 11 different booths that we visited there, a bunch of the larger quote unquote equipment manufacturers. And then I think we hit up eight or nine crew supporting member booths.
Starting point is 00:17:03 and that'll be in the second home gym con video that we that comes out the week that this video comes out. We, it did in hindsight, we missed a few supporting members like Belmere. I did not even know that they were supporting members. Otherwise, we should have been there and hit up their booth. And there's a few others that we just didn't make it to. Talk about missed opportunity. We actually ran out of time. Well, we did.
Starting point is 00:17:30 What we did. happen. Because at 4 p.m. we had to be at our booth and we kind of just had what we had at that point. Yeah, it was, compared to the Arnold, it was very hard for us to leave the booth at this expo because there actually just was a constant stream of people that, one, either wanted to talk to us, which is great, or that genuinely didn't know what Jim Radar and Massonomics was. And they wanted the sales pitch. And it's like, well, right. All right. Step right up. And I mean, we probably did more talking at this one than we've ever done at the Arnold, don't you think? Yeah, because so many people were curious about Jim Radar is probably the biggest thing.
Starting point is 00:18:07 A ton of people were like supporting members and want to chat, which is why we're there. Like that's the whole thing. Like that's what makes it cool. But then also on top of that, then just a bunch of people that want to learn about Jim Radar, which we want to tell them about Jim Radar because that's kind of our point to be in being there. At least half the reason we're there. Yeah. So yes, way more.
Starting point is 00:18:28 We basically can't not be at the booth. booth because of those two things going on all the time. Generally speaking, the crowd was great. And even just starting Thursday, just being open for four hours, actually, I don't know what every other vendor would say. I would assume they would say it was good. The crowd at the Massonomics booth, the entire weekend was great. It was.
Starting point is 00:18:53 It was really, really good. And it was actually crazy, like, from four to, like, six or seven that first day. Like we were just, it was just constant busyness. Like there was a line of people all the time. Yep. Non-stop. I'm like, oh,
Starting point is 00:19:07 the Arnold has never been like this ever once. Like the Arnold will hit at its best, we'll hit patches of that for 30 minutes, maybe an hour. But this is multiple sustained hours of just actually just working, you know, constantly going. And I,
Starting point is 00:19:22 there wasn't many other merch vendors there. I don't know if that's what it was like at the other merch vendors that were there. It's not really relevant. but ours was just a constant stream of people, which is really, really cool. We kind of going into it had a feeling we knew it was worth going. We knew it would be good to some degree, to some level, and it just like even exceeded what we expected. I think that would be my takeaway is like it actually exceed both for Massonomics,
Starting point is 00:19:53 if you want to separate them out for Massonomics and Jim Radar, both if you separate them, just for their own reasons both went better than I could have even imagined, actually, is what I would say. Yeah, we know, we talk about our expectations, and I feel like we had fairly optimistic expectations. Yeah. And I think for the most part, it exceeded basically everything that we thought we had in mind. Right. I loved our spot. Yes.
Starting point is 00:20:19 It says a great spot. I really loved our spot. I'd say, yep, perfect. Yeah, I hope it's tricky, like, to even say it's the same spot next year because if all the big guys move around. The big guys could move or the aisles could change a little. It's like you could never replicate it completely. But I just loved where we were at.
Starting point is 00:20:37 We were, you know, right concept two was on our one side. Belt Fed was on the other. And then Rep was right across from us. And then like Tanner Paxton and Belmere and stuff was behind. It just seemed like a great spot. I don't know. Maybe wherever we would have been would have been a good spot. I'm not sure.
Starting point is 00:20:52 But I really liked where we were at. The whole convention just seemed huge to me like I don't know you had you weren't there last year I guess so this was your first time getting to see it for in Louisville in here yeah yeah and like this compared to like Louisville it felt like our sorry um French like it felt like uh if you have an afternoon you can kind of get through you know unless you want to just sit and talk to everyone yeah you just take a couple hours you can see everything or this you know we I mean what was that that afternoon did we film like 15 booth to our you know 15 videos that first afternoon something like that maybe more of it well probably probably Probably all but, I bet we did. Yeah, we did all of them but two. And I don't even know. I bet we did 17. Yeah, 17 that first day.
Starting point is 00:21:36 And, you know, which is just extensive, you know, cranking them out as fast as we can. And it really felt like, oh, we just kind of like just kind of hit the tip of the iceberg on what was actually there. And, you know, I hardly, you know, we're doing these videos. The videos, the way we do it, there's not enough time for you to do full demos and everything. Some of them you can maybe sneak a very quick demo in if it's like that. ready. Other ones, you know, the person just explains that they might demo it quick. Basically means I don't demo anything. If anything, when the video's done, I might touch something really quick. And when I went back and watched the videos, I'm like, damn, I really
Starting point is 00:22:11 wish I got to try that and that and that and that. But, well, I mean, we just, we're literally on to the next thing. We just straight up didn't have enough, like, we did everything we could to get 17 videos and we were already pushing the limits. If we started actually playing and enjoying with the stuff, we would have gotten eight videos and we would have had nothing to work with. So. And even when I touch it on the video, it's not really like. It's a different thing. Because like it doesn't really tell me anything.
Starting point is 00:22:36 I mean, I got to feel for it at that point in time and it's worth something for the video. But it's not the same as really sitting down and really processing what I think of it. Kind of thinking through it and like tinkering with it. Like, okay, if I adjust this here, does this feel better, worse? Like what's going on? Right. You can't do that on video. Otherwise it just gets really boring and tedious.
Starting point is 00:22:54 I would also say we, uh, the go. pro athletics guys who've supporting member. We didn't know who they were up and, you know, it was a big reveal there. They revealed their bar as well. But it turns out we knew the guy from Home JimCon year two.
Starting point is 00:23:12 Yes. That was a very big surprise. Yeah. Who are we going to see here? What's the story? What's going on here? I think it's big Derek, right? I think so.
Starting point is 00:23:20 Yeah. So he's in the second video. Their mother of all bars, the new bar that they came out with. that will be featured in the second home gym con video. Press a bar. Yes. And several other crew members that will be in that one.
Starting point is 00:23:35 And we still didn't even get to all the crew member booths in that amount of time. Okay. So I talked about Thursday. I actually am shocked at how many, at least from the perception of being at our booth for those four hours, how many people were there on Thursday though. Yeah. Like I did not think it would be that big of the problem.
Starting point is 00:23:52 Like, that's Thursday. It'll probably be kind of slow, like not that busy. And I mean, that might have been like actually the busiest four hours of the entire weekend, possibly. Yeah, and our booth is, my hypothesis is that ours is somewhat different than some others because we are like a first stop place for a lot of people. I don't say this to sound important, cool, or whatever. It is just my theory is that we kind of are one of the first stops for quite a few, all the mass. atomic supporting members and stuff. They want to come check and like there's a supply crunch sometimes in theory.
Starting point is 00:24:31 So you also want to see who's sitting at the booth. You know, who's hanging out who's going to be there because there's always around. So the very first day that they're there, a lot of them are going to come to the booth and like make their purchase and do that sort of thing. So Thursday was a really big day for us. Then Thursday night, what did we do?
Starting point is 00:24:52 Is that when we went with Barefoot and Mark and. Um, was that Thursday? Yeah, because Friday was the dinner. Yeah, it was actually, yes. So we went out, Nate, with, uh, Shelby and Ryan from Barefoot, Mark Deadliest Lyft. Who else was with us? Andrew Hainis. Andrew Hainis, that's right.
Starting point is 00:25:11 And we all had old fashions. Yep, he was putting old fashions down. Tanner had to give him to peer pressure being the last one to order. He couldn't break the old fashion chain. Everyone at the table had ordered an old fashion. So I was like, well, call me old fashioned. But I'll have an old fashioned. And then we got done with ours.
Starting point is 00:25:30 And I actually like old fashions. But I said, I'll have a beer. And then they brought me a beer in another old fashion. So I'm like, oh, yeah, I guess I'm having doubles tonight. I was very happy they did not bring me a second old fashioned. I probably would have drank it. And I would have felt terrible the next day. Because when we were done there, we went back to the Galt House.
Starting point is 00:25:49 I went to the bar there for a while too. That's right. We did not short out on any of the nightlife. at Home GymCon, nor any of the day life. No, I mean, we were out to, there was basically, I mean, we never went to bed before 11 o'clock. A lot of nights we were up past midnight. Yeah, I don't even know if I ever went to bed like before midnight.
Starting point is 00:26:13 I didn't for sure. I'm pretty sure the one night you stayed out to like two. I did, yes. The one night I stayed out to like two and then we got up way too early and I was drinking most of the time. I mean, part of it is I don't want to be drinking, but people keep putting drinks in front of me, so I have to drink. That was a thing.
Starting point is 00:26:29 That was a thing. That was the thing that happened. It was, I think, okay. So Thursday night, we went back to, was like, okay, who were we hanging out with at the bar on Thursday night then? There wasn't that many people at the bar. No, there was like carp and his wife and Kim and his wife. Nice like Mike. Nice like Mike.
Starting point is 00:26:53 His brother, Darko is always there. Yeah Onan was always there, of course Yeah Because Anon was feeding us beers one night Yeah I had to hide from him and get out of there That was Friday night
Starting point is 00:27:07 That was Friday night Yeah Kevin Kevin was always around Yes Yeah Kevin doesn't miss the golf house bar On that night either does he I mean a lot of people did
Starting point is 00:27:20 It's actually We can't even do the names Because there's just so many It is really fun how everyone, it's just a home base for it. Like, you just know you can go there and hang out with people. There was a teachers convention and a home gym convention in that hotel. Also, the dangerous part of it is you just know you can go there and hang out with people.
Starting point is 00:27:39 If it wasn't so accessible and so guaranteed, some of those nights, it would be easier just to be like, ah, yeah, I can just go ahead. We just pack it in. But, like, we get home from, or get back to the hotel from eating, and it's like, well, we might as well just swing in to see what's going on. what's going on here. And then you walk into this bar and you know, 100 people in it.
Starting point is 00:28:00 You're like, wow, can't go to bed now. Friday, as far as back to the convention and everything, we were pretty much at the booth the whole time, right? Like it was just like a day at the booth. Yeah, like we had talked about, oh, we'll shoot some content.
Starting point is 00:28:18 Actually, so this is a bit of a spoiler alert. We had every intention of shooting a vlog like we do Arnold style. And there was multiple times like, ah, it's so busy right now. We can't go leave for a half hour, 45 minutes an hour. Like we can't go leave and do this stuff. And then, yeah, that just kept happening.
Starting point is 00:28:37 We're like, oh, it'll be a slow time eventually. The slow time never showed up. It was even Sunday afternoon. I'm like, God, do we do this? Tanner's like, it's just popping right now. Like, it's kind of important that we're here. And I'm like, well, you are right. So the vlog just never, it never really materialized
Starting point is 00:28:50 because we never had breaks. Like, it was just always something going on. Um, so yeah, unfortunately there's kind of some lost footage there that I'm not sure. Because we did record some stuff. Yeah, we had a little bit of like an intro set up. It'd be a first couple minutes of it. But as far as doing the thing where we go around, get some organic reactions and footage out of people like we kind of do with the Lentartavisi and things like that,
Starting point is 00:29:13 there was no time for that to happen actually. Which is okay. Yeah. Yeah. We're trying to juggle a lot of balls. Some balls were going to have to drop. Some balls were going to hit us in the face. weren't they?
Starting point is 00:29:26 Some balls were going to slap us upside the temple. But we kept the most important balls up in the air, I would say. I think so. Friday, though, I mean, I'm just trying to think of during the day if there's anything in particular that, other than just being awesome. Right. I'm just trying to think if there's like anything during the expo that's, you know, was noteworthy versus the other ones.
Starting point is 00:29:49 But we have the Friday. Yeah, the jacket ceremony. Yes, that is actually probably the most noteworthy thing during the day there. Yeah, the 3.30 p.m. booth jacket ceremony. Okay, so just a couple notes. Like we talked about how much traffic our booth had all weekend and stuff like that. I have to tell the story next to us was Concept 2, which a good brand. I actually a big fan of most of the Concept 2 stuff.
Starting point is 00:30:12 Love the Rower. I really like the bike erg. I've talked about wanting a ski erg for a while. We demoed this strength erred. You've mentioned wanting the strength erred. Yeah. But they're as a brand a little more buttoned up, I would say, than some brands too, you know, where it's just, it seems like they're kind of there for business a little bit.
Starting point is 00:30:39 Well, also, some of them are more employees, you know, like that's... Right. And I'm not, I don't even mean that as a negative by any means, but it just seems like they're probably, they're there working. Yeah, Mr. Concept too didn't show up, you know. Exactly. They're sending workers there. exactly. But I talked to him the very first day were there. Both really nice guys. Several people demoed their stuff and probably talked to them.
Starting point is 00:31:00 They're good dudes. knew their products well and stuff. But the very first before the Expo even started, they kind of asked like, oh, what was, what's the deal with Massonomics and Jim Radar? Explained it a little bit to them as best as I could, as simply as I could, as quickly as I could. And on Thursday night, so this was after the four to eight rush. we're kind of packing up and the one guy comes over and he's like,
Starting point is 00:31:27 like he's like got a smile on his face and he comes up and almost doesn't know what to say and he's like, so what is this? You know, like, because I had explained it just a few hours before and he's like,
Starting point is 00:31:38 okay, I do not understand what's going on here. Like, what is, he's like, what in the hell is going on here? And that's like when I heard in the distance, what's going on here?
Starting point is 00:31:47 Yeah. Like, oh, the concept two guys are getting aware of what's taking place here. Because I feel like he realized my description I gave at the beginning was not piecing the puzzle together as to why all these people were there all night and like taking photos and hanging out.
Starting point is 00:32:04 Yeah, and all this laughing and messing around and stuff. So he's like, could tell something was going on that was abnormal. So I kind of explained the podcast and the history and the supporting members and the crew and stuff like that. And he goes, okay, that makes a little more sense. And then Friday morning he comes back, he's like, yeah, We did our research. You guys do have a lot of stuff going on.
Starting point is 00:32:28 You know, he's kind of laughing about it and talking. But I mean, then they became very interested in Jim Radar at that point. They were like, oh, well, we need to know more about Jim Radar. But I just thought that that was funny. But what particularly highlights that because I don't think they were the only people that had that takeaway of like, oh, this is what the massonomics community is like in person. what really highlights it at 3.30 p.m. on Friday when we have the Hall of Fame jacket ceremony where where Hogan and Keith Kitzertz.
Starting point is 00:33:02 Yeah, I suppose there was, was there 30-some crew that made it to the jacket ceremony or something like that. And even more just people that are getting stuck in the aisle not knowing what's taking place. Just watching. And we do our jacket ceremony. It was a great jacket ceremony. Jake and Hogan both got their jackets, hitting their 15 achievements and making it to the, officially to the jacket level, Hall of Fame. We often say we're not a cult, but the one thing that really makes you second guess, if that's true or not, is if you watch a Hall of Fame jacket ceremony as a bystander, do you think, are you sure this is not a cult?
Starting point is 00:33:43 Because this kind of feels like a cult. Everyone's clappy, and there's like this procession going on. then we got a group picture after that and that was great and I like that there's the spectacle like that. Oh yeah. So it's awesome. It was it was very fun. And that that's that was probably the highlight of Friday, I think, right?
Starting point is 00:34:06 I think as far as the Expo goes. Yeah. Yeah. And then after that, we just, we didn't have much time before the dinner, right? Like we pretty much actually yeah we're talking oh it's going to be so nice we got like time to hang out and that basically turned into yeah we have about an hour to change clothes relax for a minute and there was no relaxing really like there was just enough time to take your shoes off. We sat down on a couch. Yeah. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:34:33 Yeah. Yeah. And then it was the VIP dinner which also got to say the VIP dinner was really good. That that when you walked in actually felt like something. very special. It did. I should take that back because, I don't mean that in negative way,
Starting point is 00:34:51 because actually the only other one I went to was the French lick one. And that also felt very special. You rode that bus all the way up to the hill. You're in this cool thing. But it was still, I don't know, I don't know, that would have 70 people at it or something maybe.
Starting point is 00:35:03 I'm not sure. Yeah, this was just a lot bigger. This is in a much bigger room. I mean, there had to have been. Do you think there was close to 200 people in there? I think so.
Starting point is 00:35:13 Like, our table had like eight people. There was more than 20 tables in there. wasn't there? Yeah, I'm sure there probably was a couple hundred people there. Like when Jake was at the front of the room, like starting the evening or the talking of stuff like that, I'm like,
Starting point is 00:35:28 geez, I'd almost be a little nervous. Like, there's a lot of people. I know. There really was a lot of people in there. And great VIP dinner. I'm a salesman for the VIP dinner.
Starting point is 00:35:43 If it's something you're interested in, it's worth it. The food was great. Obviously, I'm biased because we won an award that night. It was a total surprise. So we won an award for the best booth ever. We won an award for best freaking booth ever made. But that was a very big surprise. I didn't even really know what the criteria were for the awards
Starting point is 00:36:11 because it's how little we paid attention to it. but we did win the best compact booth. Yes. There were six awards total that game out. There was about 150 vendors. Awards were like best compact booth, best mid-sized booth, best large booth. Best new product.
Starting point is 00:36:28 Best new product. Community. And then like the community is like the event sponsors or like the people. And then there's also like what rep won, which is like Jake's award of basically like. yeah, spirit of home gym con or something. Right. Yeah, something like that. Yeah. So there's, there is only six awards. So winning one is a pretty big deal.
Starting point is 00:36:54 Ours, the best boost by size were all voted on by the people at home gym con. I did not vote. I completely forgot about the voting. We didn't, we didn't tell anyone to vote because that was the last thing on our mind. I'd mentioned it on a podcast a few weeks ago, or I do believe if we would have campaigned. Oh, yeah. Even just within our own Discord, I was fairly confident we would have a good shot at winning. We did not do that.
Starting point is 00:37:20 And it wasn't until he was just reading that award, like just seconds before he said our name that I'm like, oh, wait a second. Are we winning this award? Like right, I mean, like within less than five seconds before he announced us, I'm like, oh, suddenly I just realized maybe we did win this. We could have won this award because I'm like racking my brain. He started saying words about like,
Starting point is 00:37:43 they bring a really big community with them and some other words. And it would have been quite the rug pull if all of a sudden someone else's name was just, just out of the things he was setting up. I'm like it really feels like he's speaking to us right now. Yes. Yes. Which it was sweet. It was, uh,
Starting point is 00:37:58 I don't know. Actually, so we win this award and we're like, oh, is this what it feels like to win awards at the Lyft Hardo Veeze Classic? It's just pretty freaking sweet actually. Because I did feel really proud. Like when we won,
Starting point is 00:38:10 I was like genuinely. really excited on inside. I was like, oh, that feels like really rewarding. I feel like, I feel like, uh, something was worth something here that we won that, you know. Once and months of prep and talking and planning and doing so many things for so long. Like, not that I would not that I expect, I actually didn't expect that we're going to win. So I want, like, had we not won the award, I wouldn't have been like, oh, this wasn't worth it. But that particularly made it. Yeah. There was a sense of validation like, oh, yeah, all of that effort we put in was noticed.
Starting point is 00:38:43 Like that was really cool. It was really cool. Yes. Oh, so thank you for everyone that voted for us on that because that, uh,
Starting point is 00:38:48 we took that very seriously that we won that. I was like, this is not nothing. Like I texted my wife right away. I'm like, oh, we just won like a big award. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:38:58 Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. It's really cool. And then I'm like, it's freaking party time. I want a brusky.
Starting point is 00:39:06 Yeah. Uh, we did. So rep and Sean, the owners of, or Ryan and Sean, the owners of Rep Fitness were there. They were staying and taking a couple pictures at the end of it with their award and we go talk to them and we get a picture and wasn't the conversation, something like, equals here, very similar.
Starting point is 00:39:27 We're all kind of equals here. We both are award-winning booths, like very similar size and scope of companies. You know, you guys came with like 20 employees representing your company that does probably hundreds of millions of sales. we're pretty much the same thing. We did all get a good laugh about that. Yes, we did. Yeah, then that's Friday night.
Starting point is 00:39:52 And then, yeah, it turned into another very late night. Yes. At the bar. I had to go to the bathroom at some point. Yeah, I was at the bar. What saved me is that, I don't know, last call was at 1230 or something so people could stop buying beers. Haunted.
Starting point is 00:40:09 Yeah. And yeah, another late night and kind of early morning again. That's how that went going into Saturday, the final day. And what's a note on Saturday? I mean, more just... What else was Dylan was the only Hall of Fame Cup recipient, I guess. You think he... Did he show up Friday or was that Saturday?
Starting point is 00:40:32 I think it was Friday, right? Did he show up Friday afternoon? Yeah. Maybe it was even after the Hall of Fame ceremony or something. I think it was, actually. Yeah. He was the only cup recipient. the weekend though.
Starting point is 00:40:46 So we're at 68 Hall of Fame Cup recipients. Wow. And 19 jacket recipients. I remember when we ordered to put that cup order in? Didn't we order about 75 cups? I've never thought. I legitimately thought that would last
Starting point is 00:40:57 for ever. But we got to have them. I was like, this sucks that we have to order this mini because we'll never use these. Yeah, they're just going to sit around. 75 in or whatever it was. Yeah. Yeah. So now we have more coming. It's been like one, two-ish years maybe. and also 19 jackets given out is a huge number of Hall of Fame jackets that I never thought we I actually never thought we would be to that.
Starting point is 00:41:21 That's another one we thought yeah, there'll be like four jackets someday maybe. Hogan's does take the cake as the most expensive Hall of Fame jacket we've ever bought because we had to get them to make it very fast and get it shipped very fast. So it is. Oh, you owe us, Hogan. Just remember. Outside of all the other stuff you did to get the gym. Jacket, you know it's big time. Yeah, do all that again.
Starting point is 00:41:48 Yeah, so Friday night ended. Then we're back for Saturday, the last day of the Expo. And sometimes the last day of other, of like the Arnold is a big stinker. Yes. Historically, it has been a huge stinker. Like nothing going on. Home Jim Con was not like that. No, that's what you're wondering.
Starting point is 00:42:09 Is it going to die out? Is it going to like be half of the other days as far? far as excitement and sales and all that and was like nope it's just as strong as the day before like it did not slow down at all yeah uh Brian Shaw was around all weekend we never really talked to him I saw him walk by like a couple of times I only saw him from very far away I never even really got close to him are you sure it was him and not big tiny Tim well actually you have a point there it could have been mixing them up yeah uh but anything I guess I guess more of the same stuff on Saturday.
Starting point is 00:42:46 And then we got a couple videos recorded. I have like no voice left by the time Saturday comes around. People notice that in the video when it cuts from day one to day three of you interviewing Adam. Yeah, there was, I guess Keith put a couple notes. There was a strong man show. So we'll talk about supporting members or people that were competing there. There was the deadlift party that went on the rep booth right next to us. Coop was there.
Starting point is 00:43:13 I guess we talked to Coop on what day? That was the first day. Thursday? I think so. That was Thursday. I think so. Had a good conversation with Coop. Yep.
Starting point is 00:43:23 I guess just other content. Actually, the interview with him is really funny. We did an interview with him? You did. And what did you say to him? I didn't even know we did an interview. Where are we going to put that at then? It'll go.
Starting point is 00:43:33 I figured those interviews will go in the Hidden Gems video. Oh, I didn't even know we did an interview with them. What are we talking about? One liner. He's like, oh, I just got done at the freak athlete booth. You know, they pay me so much money. so I figured I'd stop over here. You're like, oh, send some our way, so you guys want some?
Starting point is 00:43:49 Some dumb jokes about freak athlete paint him a lot of money. Yeah. I honestly didn't remember we even did a video with them. Yep, it was pretty good. It was funny. Good, good. We hung out with Gluck and Winnie off and on all weekend, too. They were very busy, of course, also.
Starting point is 00:44:11 But, I mean, I feel like we saw. I'm a fit 60 times like we're past cross or like we'd always be like walking out at the same time right or they'd be like in the background of our video or we're in the background of their video it's right uh michael from jungle gym reviews of course many supporting members that are also there doing content like uh shan and um other sean and carp and vintage weights rob i'm just i can't remember robo was there the first day doing it too and several of them
Starting point is 00:44:46 eventually Saturday's over and we have to start like packing up which is tricky because people are still like coming up to the booth while the time is like while we're out of time but at a certain point we just have to pack up otherwise we'll just be there all night and the packing
Starting point is 00:45:03 up packing up process went very fast luckily we sold a lot of the stuff so we packed it all down to three boxes of clothing didn't we four five total boxes yeah but four big boxes five total boxes which is a lot less than what we came with so that was great we had a lot of help moving that stuff out of there a whole bunch of the crew members you know mini and rachel jake brandon obviously uh stephen debo heather i don't know uh buzz
Starting point is 00:45:36 just a bunch of people helping at that point in time when we got to it and rather than going through the loading dock for our booth stuff. We just took that all through the front doors, you know, out the steps, now the front doors was just totally the right move for that scenario. You know, it took us, actually, the booth itself wasn't the issue. It was the equipment is the part that makes things take long.
Starting point is 00:45:58 But in that whole process, I don't know if it took two hours, there was people that in the loading dock line, I don't think moved a single spot in two hours. They didn't. Yeah. Like there was a Ford Raptor at the base of that loading dock line. that we crossed every time and they didn't move once.
Starting point is 00:46:15 No, they did not move once. Once we got that boost stuff out of there, then we did have the equipment stuff. So I was bringing home the ATX standing chest press. And by bringing home, Debo is actually taking it. And he's got it at his house right now. So we were, I think Stephen and Debo were disassembling equipment because Debo also got like a leg extension leg curl from GMWD.
Starting point is 00:46:41 What else do you get? Like a little half rack, I think, from Koto, Gie grips. Oh, yeah. That's right. I forgot about that. A few various things like that. And they disassembled stuff very quickly and we got it all to the back. But then that's when there's like this nightmare of how do we actually get this out of here?
Starting point is 00:46:56 Because if you wait for the loading dock, I think we would have, they eventually must shut that down at night. Like and be like, yeah, stop coming back here. But, yeah. It would have been many, many hours for sure. So we just kind of had to carry that all down there. down the elevator. And that's the thing, that's a weird thing about this,
Starting point is 00:47:12 is the Expo is on the second floor. Like the trade show is a second floor. It's not like the Arnold where there's just a hundred, you know, overhead bay doors that you can just wigg, weasel your way out of any door. This is like, nope,
Starting point is 00:47:24 there's like two entrances or two exits, and then there's the elevator. And so we just started taking the elevator to get out of there. But do you remember the first one I went out the, with the pallet jack? Oh, yeah, went all the way down. They did not like that.
Starting point is 00:47:36 They did not like that. Understandably so. I mean, You had a big, a pallet jack full of heavy equipment, and there was like four of us, and it was still not easy to get that down without it being a runaway cart. And when we got to the very first hill, I hadn't even been thinking in my mind that this was going to be like a problem when I'm like, oh, wait a second. This is just going to go a thousand miles an hour if it's unchecked here.
Starting point is 00:48:01 Like, this is going to go racing inside someone's vehicle. Luckily, that didn't happen. It could have, but it, it, it, did not happen. And so this isn't constructive criticism. This is just criticism because I don't have anything constructive how it could be different. I said like everything of Home GymCon this year was basically like an A plus as far as I'm concerned.
Starting point is 00:48:25 The load out sucks, but I actually don't know how it even, how you make it any better there. Like that's why I'm saying this isn't constructive. Like Jake's probably listening to this. Maybe he's got some ideas to make it better because I don't know what it is. For like, hey, you're not a semi, you in theory should be faster. And they let like just pickup trucks go through in a different line. I mean, I don't know what, but there's probably a reason they don't do that. But that's the only thing I think of.
Starting point is 00:48:50 That's why like I, it might just be the nature of the beast with that load out that it's just kind of a. But what we did was ultimately skip all of those, skip the big line. And actually we just humped everything down. The apparel part of it, we walked out the actual front door with those boxes. Right. Because Brandon had their van parked in the front. So we did those. Then we went back in the Expo and then,
Starting point is 00:49:13 yeah, it was going out the back elevator door for the equipment part of it. And unfortunately, it started downpouring, like torrential downpouring. We were doing that. You know, like right while loading up the heaviest biggest pieces.
Starting point is 00:49:25 Yeah, just like a monsoon coming through. And we were not undercover, obviously. They did a great job, puzzle piecing this whole thing together to get it all to fit in there because it was a full load in there. It was.
Starting point is 00:49:43 And then like at the last minute, Big Stephen had his little tailgate hack where I've never done that before, where he actually like rerout the guide wire for the tailgate and allows it to just be half closed. Because Devo had been hoping everything was going to fit and be able to close. But the plate stack, the pulley on the extension leg curl, The pulley on the top of the frame. It was like an inch or two too long. It might have only been a half an inch even. It was so close to where it could actually close.
Starting point is 00:50:16 So it got the old 45 degree close. But you do got to tell the pallet jack story, Tanner. Okay, so the pallet jack story. Prior to us helping with this part of it, I think Stephen had snagged a pallet jack from somewhere that this leg extension leg curl of Debo's was on. we, Heather was kind of just sitting by that, relaxing a little bit after a long day.
Starting point is 00:50:44 Somewhat back by the loading dock area. Yeah, back by the loading dock area. It was towards the back of the building. And that was sitting there. I didn't even know, I had no idea where it, like I, we were just bringing stuff to her. Debo's like, hey, we got this disassembled, take it to Heather. And so we were just carrying parts back there and setting them down.
Starting point is 00:51:01 And while we were walking up, say, like the third time where we were making our stack of parts in this pallet jack was sitting there, this little short, angry man. Came flying out of nowhere, like running in. I would say in his 40s or 50s, quite short and slender. Just in case somebody listening knows who this is, I'd like to ID this man because he's unhinged and like should be ostracized for his behavior. But he came flying in, cursing obscenities, and is like, you stole my. mother effing pallet jack and went in there and there was like this ramp piece of the ATX
Starting point is 00:51:44 it was like the platform that you stand on for the chess platform which actually made like kind of a nice little ramp on the ground and it was kind of sitting right the pallet jack was in the pallet in a pallet and then like we had set all these parts there that were kind of by the pallet jack so that ramp piece was by one of them and he came in with both hands and like started just banging the He pulled the pallet jack out as aggressively as you possibly could, ripping it, ripping it over the top of the diamond plate footplate thing to where it ramped over it and left this huge paint streak on the top of it.
Starting point is 00:52:21 And I was standing just far enough away that I'm like... Yeah, you were like behind me. I was just walking up. Heather was sitting there and you were like a little farther walking behind me, I think. And I was just far enough way that I saw this thing happen. And I'm like, oh, this is like over the top Jim Carrey levels of doing things. So I thought at first this guy was joking with you. Because I'm like, there's no way someone is actually acting like that.
Starting point is 00:52:44 It was so extreme. Yeah. I think I was like, was that guy serious. And you're like, yeah, he was serious. Like I did not believe it at first. It was so extreme. If Heather would have been there without not, this isn't a sexist way of say, like, I don't mean this sexist.
Starting point is 00:53:01 But if Heather was out, if that was my wife there without. a man also there and like another man acted like that to my wife, I'd be like, dude. Oh, like, I mean, it's actually what I felt like as, you know, I got like hot in the face. She'd be like, we need to get secured. Like, she'd be chasing the guy down to like get him kicked out and fired. She would like, it was. It was. It was actually.
Starting point is 00:53:25 She was alone. Right. Right. It was actually like insane behavior. Yeah. Like since I was. He dropped like five F bombs in a matter of like 10 seconds. and we saw him for 12 seconds.
Starting point is 00:53:37 Heather and I were both. There was a definite moment of shock where it was like, what is going on here? And I didn't even know anything about this pallet jack. And I was like, do you know where that pallet jack came from? And she's like, I don't know either.
Starting point is 00:53:52 She was like, I'm just sitting here. So it's not like any of us involved took, had taken this pallet jack that he was, like flosses absolute shit over. I think he was like a semi-driver for one of the companies, because we saw him later, like, walking around.
Starting point is 00:54:10 I think he was just like a truck driver, wasn't he? I don't even, I have no idea who it was. Like, I don't think he worked at one of the booths. I don't think he was like an employee of like a home gym company. I kind of got the impression he was with a transportation company. Yeah. Shout out to Apex, though, because I did borrow their pallet jack with permission, and he was very cool about it and did not.
Starting point is 00:54:33 And I actually. took longer with it than I had originally, because that was the one I took all the way down the when I borrowed Apex's pallet jack. This is a whole separate pallet jack. This is after this incident. I wasn't planning on taking the pallet jack all the way down the driving ramp. I did do that and I brought it back and I did apologize to him because I said, sorry, this took longer. Probably had it for close to a half hour. Yeah, and he's like, no worries. He's like, no worries. I understand. Uh, yes. So the guy, absolute onhinged behavior on the pallet jack.
Starting point is 00:55:11 It was wild. Yes. Like, I mean, it's been a long time. I've seen someone that aggressive in public. Like a full on tantrum of a grown man. Okay.
Starting point is 00:55:26 We did get loaded out. Actually, strapped that load down real good. Debo's keeping, keeping care of my, plate loaded standing ATX chest press for the time being set up assembly must have been pretty easy he didn't waste any time on that i think he got all his stuff set up that was him i think it was him i think it were taking a week or two to just let the stuff sit for a while give it some sweet he's got
Starting point is 00:55:47 he said he's got gains to get to man i guess uh anything else on the loadout uh not load out not load out i think that's yeah that's it's a lot out time saturday night party yeah saturday night party guy fierreys uh whatever the hell barbecue place it was it was it was Also, the Cuban Festival, Louisville Cuban Festival. It was a freaking party. That was a party. A lot of people really showed up for the Massanamo. We were like, are we even going to be able to get there?
Starting point is 00:56:17 Because there's this crazy concert going on. Yeah, people were having a great time. And we finally get in there. And I said, man, this is really refreshing. Everyone's having so much fun. This concert's like going crazy. And I think someone brought it up to like, I said, like, yeah, you don't. get this vibe in Sioux Falls.
Starting point is 00:56:36 And someone said, well, remember, you just went to a concert. You got yelled at for standing. And I thought about it. I'm like, not only did I get yelled at at at the last concert I went to, not only did get yelled at for standing. I also got yelled at for sitting too. Where this one, everyone's dancing and had the time of their life. So the vibe was right there.
Starting point is 00:56:53 Yeah. Food was good at Guy Fierry. He took us to Flavortown. We did. It was good, yeah. No stops on the way to Flavortown. And had more bruskeys. Brewskis, bruchosos.
Starting point is 00:57:06 Bruskees are also more expensive there than in western northeast South Dakota. I just thought the Jim Raider guys were picking up the tab all weekend, so I didn't pay attention to anything. One domestic beer there was like $13. Oh, really? Yes. Dang.
Starting point is 00:57:22 Yeah. Yeah, so the Guy Fieri bar really knew how to check. At least you can't put a price on atmosphere, though, can you? You can't put a price on Flavortown. No. No, you can't. I mean, you could have put $13 on it, but you could have just got, you could have got a blackout drunk at the Zubar and Emmerdine for the price of two beers.
Starting point is 00:57:41 I know. You could have drank for six straight hours for the price of two domestic light beers and flavor talent. A whole bunch of supporting members and crew that came out for that one. Can't name them all. I would say, I think the lowest supporting member number of the weekend that I could find, because all I was checking was Big Jim from New York. Oh, as far as original sign update, you're saying. Yep, based on original sign update.
Starting point is 00:58:08 So the lowest supporting member number in person at the event that I knew of was Big Jim. Yeah. All right. Home JimCon. We've already got plans for next year. We've already signed up our booth. It's going to be bigger. We got a whole bunch of new ideas actually that we won't spoil.
Starting point is 00:58:32 We have some pretty wild ideas already that we're talking. We are already signed up. It's going to be the same weekend in 2027. We're going to be there bigger and better. We're coming to defend that best compact booth title. Yeah. We're moving like big wind. Maybe we're moving up to medium-sized and going for that title.
Starting point is 00:58:56 I'm not sure what we have to be at exactly. So technically we have room to grow into this compact booth still. Right. Are you allowed to be back? percent and still fit inside the compact booth category. Do they allow back-to-back compact booth champions? That's a good question. I guess we're going to find out.
Starting point is 00:59:14 People keep asking us if we're coming back to win the compact booth award again. Yeah, I'm thinking we're winning the compact booth award again. I like the idea of people asking if that's actually what we're going. Yeah, yeah, do you guys plan on winning that compact booth award again? Everyone wants to know. I'm thinking we're going to win again. Everyone you talk to in person, they always want to know, like, what your favorite piece of equipment that you looked at or saw at home team?
Starting point is 00:59:40 That's the go-to question. Yeah, I never know. I don't really have it. I still don't have a good answer for that. Because we get to be too busy doing other stuff to be just brutally honest. We spend probably the least amount of time with it as anyone that has a camera there. You know, it's just running gun. You know, actually, you know what?
Starting point is 00:59:57 Here's probably the most oddball choice for what maybe surprised me the most of the weekend. I walked on that rep strive treadmill and you know you got a curved treadmill massonomics gym I'd use it occasionally when I was there so I got a decent feel for what they are the one in the gym is just you know there's no settings on it it's right there's just yeah it's just a manual and in my mind I'm thinking it's a curved treadmill you know what you do it yourself and uh you'll put the resistance on it'll be some bullshit thing where it's like marginally harder so I'm walking and I flipped it to the hardest And it just stopped.
Starting point is 01:00:32 They quit going. I'm like, oh, this thing actually does like a sled mode and this is actually the real deal. That actually surprised me. I was not expecting that out of that thing. So that was your favorite piece of equipment at home gym come. A treadmill from rep. I just loved it. I don't know.
Starting point is 01:00:52 Okay. Well, should we do like an ad or something and then maybe we can talk about equipment just a little bit? We don't need to talk a ton because we have videos about that, but maybe we will do a few minutes on it. Yeah. This week's episode, newest sponsor of the podcast. Do I need FTS?
Starting point is 01:01:09 Yeah, let's give their asses the boot. All right. They're not going to even hear this new, new sound that I have on the sound board. Give them something to wait for you. We might even have some non-home gym con stuff at the end of this episode. Yeah, we do.
Starting point is 01:01:24 We'll wrap up with a little. Stay tuned next week when you get to listen, actually. This week's episode, our newest sponsor of the podcast. podcast, EliteFTS.com, go give table talk a listen. When we were at home, Jim Con, we're emailing with Dave and we're like, do we have the guest recommendation for you? I'm not going to spoil it who it was, but we were sitting there doing a little networking. The email was put in on the spot.
Starting point is 01:01:49 Yes. And I like that. Dave replied to it the next morning. He's like, why are you guys emailing me at 11.30 p.m.? Yeah. Check out their end of summer. though. If summer's got to end, it's got to end with an Elite FTS end of summer sale.
Starting point is 01:02:06 30% off apparel, 20% off their Elite FTS squat box, 10% off equipment, 30% off bands. You can also stack Discount Code Mass 10, and in some cases, that will work. Thank you, EliteFTS.com. What about a little supporting our supporting members segment? Yeah, good call. I'm wondering if we need a little lead-in music to supporting our. supporting members. Okay.
Starting point is 01:02:35 All right. Do you want a little lead in? You say so. Let's do. Like if, would you ever, would you want me to like roll the, uh, supporting our supporting member segment? I would like you to roll it in, please. Roll that beautiful bean footage.
Starting point is 01:02:53 Wait, man. Roll that beautiful bean footage. All right. We're on a roll here. Anyone that didn't catch that one more time. Roll that beautiful bean footage. Roll that beautiful bean footage. What is that first voice?
Starting point is 01:03:19 That is the first commercial. No, really? It is, okay. I thought for sure I had to do. I told so-and-so to do a creepy voice. Oh, that's the first, that's the first Bush's baked beans with the dog talking. Like, what year are we talking when the first? It's in the, like, the 90s?
Starting point is 01:03:37 And it's so bad. It's like in the last one I was giving the ad creators credit. I guess they were leading into it a little bit. But it's funny how much better they got so fast. I don't know if it was technology like was catching up really quick. Or if they realized they had something going on here and they had to. The first one is so bad. The dog dubbing talking.
Starting point is 01:04:02 I'm like, this was not like I can barely even tell that it's supposed to be the dog. talking. But yes, that is the dog. That's the first time ever the dog says, roll that beautiful bean footage. And that's how it sounded. The dog did not sound like that in any of the subsequent ads. Yeah, that's kind of crazy.
Starting point is 01:04:22 So it's Jay is the guy. So the first roll that beautiful bean footage is the dog in the first commercial. The second one there is Jay in one of the later ones. It's hard to find the dog ever actually saying. again, roll that beautiful bean footage. Like, I thought that all the commercials were just that. Yeah, they're not. And a lot of them are all just like,
Starting point is 01:04:47 slogan there? No, well, they all just sort of like plays on that after a while, almost. Like, it's not like the dog saying, roll that beautiful bean footage like you would want it to be. All right, I'm going to have to go watch these things tonight now. I'm a bit of an expert now on the Bush's baked beans to Roll That Beautiful Bean footage marketing campaign. so at least for the time being
Starting point is 01:05:10 I think this will be our role in to supporting our supporting members as we will roll that beautiful supporting member bean footage roll that beautiful bean footage that's so weird roll that beautiful bean footage that first voice
Starting point is 01:05:26 wow it's so weird it's really weird that's I was making it I'm like this I didn't even want to use it at first because I'm like, it's so off-putting like the way it goes. It doesn't even, it wasn't even the effect.
Starting point is 01:05:50 It wasn't what I had pictured in my head. No. There's a little more excitement to it. Yes. Supporting our supporting members is a relatively new segment of the podcast. It's just the 40th time we've done it here in season two. We have a supporting membership program. If you're a listener, if you're a watcher, you enjoy Massonomics.
Starting point is 01:06:10 any way, shape, or form. Maybe you just met us at home, JimCon. Maybe you're listening to this episode as your first episode ever, an intro to Masonomics. If so, I don't know if this was good or bad. I hope the role of that beautiful bean footage part helped because what we'd love to have you do, the number one way you can support us is becoming a supporting member at masanomics.com slash join.
Starting point is 01:06:33 There's many perks that come along with that. You'll find out more about them there. Just one of the mini perks is making it on to supporting our supporting members. like Big JP did a charity charity powerlifting comp for supporting Hope Kids. They raised $57,000. Also, he lifted in it with a 1,001 pound total. Big racquetball Brian competed in the 26 Penn State Racquetball Open doubles championship. And he got third place in the 26 Westchester Racquetball Double Pro Am invite.
Starting point is 01:07:05 Big Ryan Estep, who was at home gymcon, competed in the home gymcon powerlifting with both his sons. Seven-year-old totaled 165. 11-year-old got four state records. And Ryan hit a 40-pound deadlift PR. He also came out to E with us on Saturday night. Big Danny had his first grandchild. Big Noah James.
Starting point is 01:07:26 Congratulations. Big gravy hit a deadlift PR during the rep deadlift party. I think Brandon Doyle hit a deadlift PR also at 635. It's what these guys. Keith was close to a deadlift PR. Don't they know? You're supposed to be tired during home gym con? That's what I'm wondering.
Starting point is 01:07:45 And then the home gym con strongman competition, pretty much everyone involved and competing and running it and helping was a supporting member. Everyone involved in the home gym con strong man competition. From Kurt to Derek, to Antonio, and then all the competitors. I know Stephen, Dibo, Hogan,
Starting point is 01:08:09 Tyler, Seth, boots, jacks. Brad the pad was the MC. I'm just not even lying. Almost every single person involved in the whole Tyler Thompson competed in that won his weight class. Like everyone competing in it was
Starting point is 01:08:23 everyone involved in all shapes and form were a crew member, which is pretty wild. Big Hunter competed in the grip competition at home gym con. Big Kurt traveled to do a training session at Woffar and Jim. Big Scants compete in a Highland Games event and unpaid and underrated
Starting point is 01:08:42 had their Rocks episode featuring crew members Big Scott and Big Andy. That's supporting our supporting members. Awesome. Okay. You know what? Are we doing a certified training facility in the week here? I thought you'd never ask.
Starting point is 01:09:07 So is that a yes? Oh, yeah, that's a yes. Okay, okay. So you're telling me there's a chance. I'm looking around. You know what I kind of? kind of want to do is, I'm not sure if you're aware of this, but we have a lot of new fresh meat in the pile here.
Starting point is 01:09:27 There's a lot of new certified, there's a lot of new, there's a lot of new gyms on Jim radar after home gym con. There are. I think maybe we should greet one of these new fresh faces with a, oh, get them with it right off the bat. I think so. I think we're going to mix it up. Bring them in, bring them in real nice, like.
Starting point is 01:09:45 I'm looking at one right here. I really like the look of this on First Impression. We are looking at Twin Hammer's Gym. Twin Hammers Gym, got it. It is now, if you refresh your screens at home, certified training facility of the week. Twin Hammers Gym. And, you know, because they're new,
Starting point is 01:10:09 they join July, oh, they're actually not that new. This one joined July 19th. I went back a little too far, but it's still in spirit. We're embracing the new ones here. So July 19th, owner is Mike King Bryant.
Starting point is 01:10:24 They're located in Kentucky. And there's a 1,000 square foot gym. It was established in 2022. Oh, this is a barn gym. Oh, barn gym action. Hello. Okay, maybe we'll see some. We got a barn gym.
Starting point is 01:10:40 The equipment list is nice. A lot of premium stuff here. And top equipment brands, first place. rep, second place rogue, third place, is that bears, or gym reapers, okay. 56 pieces of equipment in their gym that are documented here. No comments yet, no socials, no nothing. Mike's keeping a low profile.
Starting point is 01:11:02 Good thing we're putting him on blast here, right? No low profiles on our watch. I'm going to leave him a comment right now. Yeah, they can feel welcome. Yep. I'm looking at the pictures now, though, Tanner. All right, what do we got? And this thing looks clean.
Starting point is 01:11:24 I'm not sure. This is going ahead quick to see if there is a photo of the exterior. No, no exterior photo. So it's painted all black. The fluorings, is that diamond plate flooring? Oh, is it a diamond plate pattern? Keith will be jealous here. There is some diamond patterning on there.
Starting point is 01:11:43 But it looks like puzzles. Yeah, like the puzzle piece ones. But, you know, that's sort of like the Brandon's ones were like that too. Yeah. But I see we got a nice rep rack, and I can never tell. We always say this if it's stainless or the clear coat. I think this one might be the clear coat. It seems a little extra shiny to me, maybe.
Starting point is 01:12:03 I'll believe it. I don't know what I'm basing that off. I'm actually basing that off of nothing besides my poor knowledge of it. But it looks like a really nice rep half rack he's got there with a rep bench. She's got a nice wood platform that it sits on too. Oh, man, he is all in on rep. We got rep plates, rep rack, rep bench. Probably got us flooring from rep too.
Starting point is 01:12:27 I've had to guess here. But then in the background, we can see, we've got a little chest press machine back there. You don't kind of what that is. He's got the GMWD 3 and one bench press shoulder press machine. Oh, it is? I need to skip to that photo that shows that thing specifically here. Oh, he doesn't have a photo of just that.
Starting point is 01:12:45 Okay. Well, you can see in the background there. He does have a second rack, though. He has a full-on six-post with the Aries set up. The Athena. God, I cannot get that right either. Selectorize side mount functional trainer. And that thing is loaded.
Starting point is 01:13:01 He's got the... You just can't tell by looking as good as I can. No, you just know. That's why you're on this segment. I don't go so. You got the Pegasus seed. He's got that rack extension so you can bring it out into the middle of the rack there. so you can do your lap holddowns from the middle.
Starting point is 01:13:18 We got some darko anchors up top. Yep. What else is hiding in that rack? What's not hiding in that rack? There's a lot going on there. Looks like, there might be a mini split in the back corner that I can just barely see, but it's sort of covered up.
Starting point is 01:13:36 So I'm not sure that's there. There is that Titan leg extension, leg curl machine, right? Yep. He's got it. The Titan leg extension and leg curl 250 pounds selected. machine. He has a full,
Starting point is 01:13:50 looks like a rackable curl bar hanging from the wall. That's not your typical standard curl bar fairy. No. And then he does have a really large dumbbell area, which is quite nice. He has a full set of dumbbells too.
Starting point is 01:14:05 Multiple dumbbell racks. Yep. Another rep bench. Like the Nighthawk or something. Oh, that adjustable unit that he's got there? What's he got there? Oh, that is what? Yeah, that's a
Starting point is 01:14:20 rep. I can tell by looking. I'm not sure which bench that is. Okay. Oh, we'll go on the next one. Yeah. Oh, 4100. Oh, 4100. Okay. I just wasn't looking at it close enough. It's the 4100. Yes, of course. Yeah, full set of dumbbells like those. What's this leg press hack squat he has here? What is this one? That's the one that I was definitely wondering about.
Starting point is 01:14:43 That's the outlaw adjustable leg press hack squat combo from Bolt Fitness. Oh, from, okay. Like I say, outlaws the brand. I'm like, how have I never heard of this brand? Bolt. Okay. Is that the one that Chris Madiato has or does he have a different piece? I'm not sure what one he had.
Starting point is 01:15:02 It's hard to be track of some of his world after a while. Yeah. I'll tell you if he's got, damn, he's got two treadmills. See this? Oh yeah, he does have. That is the one that Chris had actually. Oh, really? Wow.
Starting point is 01:15:17 Thanks to Jim Radar. I know that. Damn. It's surprising you remember that. I cannot keep track of all those leg press hacks. Doc Yac Fitness also has that one. Okay. Good to know.
Starting point is 01:15:28 Wait, this, this must be a different part of the gym. Does it have like a BJJ area or something here? There's like, you know, blue floor mats. Oh, yeah. Completely wall-to-wall in this section. That must be where he rolls. Keep on rolling.
Starting point is 01:15:45 Oh, he's even got some cardio stuff here. What are we got for this cardio? Oh, there's a rogue echo bike. a little 45 degree extension, back extension. Looks like some like bow and arrows in the corner or something down there. What is that? Oh, looks like, yes. Yeah, looks like a compound bow right there to me.
Starting point is 01:16:10 Okay. Also has a couch. Got a nice couch in the gym. A real nice sofa piece there. Oh, you see, I like how he has the magnets on the garage door, and that's where the grippers are. Yeah. You know, just straight up storage.
Starting point is 01:16:25 Yep. That's good. I like that. And that is the gym. Wow. Well, the pictures tell a thousand words, but I'm really wondering is, do you think you could get strong
Starting point is 01:16:37 and twin hammers gym? Oh, hell yeah. Strong and twin hammers gym. Okay. Anything else on Home GymCon? The only piece we're going to just talk. about if any equipment stood out to us. Yeah.
Starting point is 01:16:58 I think surprises were Freak Athlete has an adjustable dumbbell that they just toss around and seems kind of on the snowed platform, I guess. Yeah, that's what it seems to be. Also, they did show off a new version of the Hyperpro. I like the new version. A lot better. That thing does really get me interested. That thing seems very well thought out.
Starting point is 01:17:20 You could say there's a little saying we have here called addressing the known issues. Yeah. It really feels like they addressed the known issues and created a very solid unit there. I like, I don't think this is new, but I never paid that close attention to it from Synergy Custom Fitness. Yeah. That plate storage option where you put it on your rack and then you can put your rack all the way against the wall. Yeah, you basically have the wings that come out and then the plate horns face forward and set it to the side. Not that nobody's ever done that before, but it just, it seems like in some home gyms that,
Starting point is 01:17:55 would just actually be an improved like it would be. Oh, yeah. I was like thinking of my own, I'm like, oh, that's what I wondered. Does it work in yours? Like, would it work? Like, yours kind of has a court. There's like a little corner there, right? That's why I would have to check them.
Starting point is 01:18:07 It would be, it would be close on mine. I couldn't say for sure. Because could you actually put it farther against the wall than it is currently than, no. Oh, yeah. I could put it like a foot closer, at least a foot closer to the wall. Right. But it would just be kind of like on the side. Is there room where that little corner is at?
Starting point is 01:18:23 And there might not be in my setup. because I have the lap pull down pretty close, and then there's a little piece of the wall that comes out. So it might not, it might not work in my current setup, but I can see in a lot of people's scenarios, basically having that, that,
Starting point is 01:18:36 I mean, people sort of do that right now with, with the whole wing thing, where they have a whole uprights that come out to do it. This seems like a cheaper way of achieving that, though. Yeah. Even if you want to do it just for your 45s, you know,
Starting point is 01:18:48 your other plates, then your rack only has to be a few inches from the wall. Yeah. Something to think about for sure. the apex bench set up. I was somewhat impressed with messing around with the even like the belt squad attachment. I kind of honestly would think that in my mind I probably thought that was a gimmick. Like particularly something like the belt squad attachment that I'm like,
Starting point is 01:19:12 yeah, but nobody's ever going to do that. And then after doing it, I'm like, I can see this as a perfectly, like, it was just as good as mounting to your rack. And it's like, you also don't have to mount it to your rack. And it's like you also don't have to mount it to your rack. Like I can see some people liking it better. Especially like there are, you know, it's not us, but there are people that are not rack people too.
Starting point is 01:19:32 Right. And as you start to do that, you're like, damn, if you're not a rack person, all of a sudden this, this, you don't even need a rack. It lets you do a lot of stuff. Right. And it seems to be very well executed on all the pieces that were there. That was a cool one.
Starting point is 01:19:48 What else? I mean, all the booths were cool. I was, we stopped by M plate for a minute. he showed his, uh, his adder plates for the repins. Those were really well done. I was genuinely impressed.
Starting point is 01:20:00 Big Matt. Yeah. There is no rattle. They just locked in. They were really well done. I thought that was a cool way of handling the adder plates on the repens. I mean, he has other ones too.
Starting point is 01:20:11 Chris made us a dip belt. Chris surprised with the dip belt. That was very cool. Yeah. He finally succumbed to the peer pressure of making it a dip belt. And it looks really cool. It is a good looking. belt. Many people gave us
Starting point is 01:20:25 things. A lot of things. Shirts and stuff and a lot of that we don't actually have yet. Yeah, it'll have to ship freight back with the other stuff because we were loaded already. Right. But a lot of people gave us stuff. A lot of stickers. The...
Starting point is 01:20:40 Probably is a lot of stickers. My Smith machine at the gym is legitimately getting a lot of stickers on it. Between the lift, hard. It's actually kind of filling up? Well, there's still plenty of room to go, but a lot of sections. I'm like,
Starting point is 01:20:54 okay, no, these sections are actually full. Yeah. You know what's one of, I guess one of my observations from Home GymCon? There's a surprising
Starting point is 01:21:05 number of Voltras floating around there. A lot of Ultras all over the place. It felt like every other booth had a Voltra in it. It did. Which,
Starting point is 01:21:16 actually, that is a great use case for it. Otherwise, you know, if you're trying to show off attachments, you need to have a weight stack or you need to have a cable. Like you need to have a much more involved setup if you don't have a ultra.
Starting point is 01:21:26 So actually for demoing things, it does work really good. True. Rory had those cool push-up handles. Remember those? Oh, yeah. I forgot about those. I did like those push-up handles. I did completely forgot about those.
Starting point is 01:21:41 I did really like those, actually. I know I'll remember a bunch of stuff because I haven't watched any of the videos for the crew video. I know I'll have a bunch of ideas. I mean, I forgot even all the places that we went to actually. Yeah, it gets hard to remember because there's so much stuff. That's the question that everyone wants to ask. ask us, though, is like what, it's like the hardest question to come up with. I would just say the number of people that came up and wanted to say hi and get a picture
Starting point is 01:22:04 and stuff like that was a lot, which was great. Yeah, that part makes it fun. That's about it, I think. That's a home, that's home gym count in a nutshell. Yeah. Travel home was relatively straightforward, only a slight delay on a very last flight, which is if you're going to have one, that's probably where you want it. Right.
Starting point is 01:22:25 I don't know how you stayed awake driving home. I got a 20-minute lift ride home and was falling asleep multiple times in the back of the car. Assuming the guy probably thought I was drunk or something because why is this guy passing out in the middle of the day at one in the afternoon? I haven't become less tired yet and I'm not exaggerating that. I'm in a slightly better boat, not much, but slightly better. I have not. I have legitimately not recovered from that yet. I'm not complaining.
Starting point is 01:22:55 I mean, actually, I guess I'm complaining, but I should not be complaining because it was all there again, letter grade for home Jim gone to me, I lean towards straight up A plus. Like I could maybe I say A, but I don't even know what, you know, Jake had a form to fill in and I'm like, I don't know, man, seems like you're doing a good job. Maybe like you got a few small back end things that you can improve, but I think it's, everything's going the right direction. I mean, I, yeah, we've talked to. I enjoy it all of it. Yeah, I don't know what I mean I there's no doubt people that are going to be nitpicking things but anytime you have an event in expo there's always going to be things you can nitpick about but
Starting point is 01:23:35 that's just how events go so I don't even and I know he appreciates criticism and takes it well but I just even filling out that form I'm kind of like I don't know man you're doing a keep the schedule keep it in Louisville keep doing all that stuff keep the dinner just say nope this is what you get again people because we get it yes and I do think more people are going to show up next year and more vendors are going to sign up. Well, that's part of the fun part of it is there is some snowball effect going on. And also, there legitimately is new and impressive stuff getting shown at home gymcon. Yes.
Starting point is 01:24:08 And people are planning, companies are planning on that. Like, that's a thing that people, it's like, no, we were releasing this at home gymcon. Yeah. Yeah. Several, you know, Bells, Kayvon at Bells of Steel show the several things. Those are still, rogue, had new things that they were showing off there. Joey showed us several new things at Rogue. Yep, the mythic company.
Starting point is 01:24:29 I did like in the video, you did mention not a rogue employee just to cover us. I don't want to think people think we're putting misrepresenting anything here. Yes, yes. While we're playing this joke. Known to be a bit litigious at times. I sort of feel like when we're doing this, like you're kind of playing the dumb thing. And I don't know, maybe we're just self-conscious. I'm like, I feel like the rogue people are like, what exactly are these idiots doing over here?
Starting point is 01:24:55 I wonder. Joey, thanks again for your service. Tell Bill we said hi. What is going on? So stupid though. I thought there was one more thing I was going to say about it, but I cannot think of anything else now. Yeah.
Starting point is 01:25:16 I think any criticisms, well, actually, well, we didn't sit in that loading dock. So I can see how if you sat in that loading line for four hours, five hours, you might have criticisms. Yeah. We didn't do that. I just don't know what the, I just don't have a suggestion of how you make it better.
Starting point is 01:25:31 No, like it's my problem with that thing. So then I can't be very vocal about it if you don't have a solution. Yeah. So we didn't have to deal with that. So I'd say here, just be smarter. Use the elevator.
Starting point is 01:25:40 Don't wait in that line. Take your stuff down piece by piece. He'll save yourself a lot of time, make life easier. Other than that, though, like we put on events. We know all of the crap that can or can't go with it
Starting point is 01:25:54 and all of the comments people may have, Jake is doing great. He's, yeah. I mean, he's, he's more or less figured out how to put on a great show and get people interested. And that's the main thing. And it's awesome. On a personal note for Jim Radar, because I don't know that we really mentioned this in
Starting point is 01:26:11 the episode we talked about how good the sales were in customer and support for massonomics, but for Jim Radar, the number of great conversations we had with people potentially interested in getting their gym on there was awesome. And the number of conversations. we had with company owners, equipment company owners, that either didn't know about it yet and were curious because they heard something or that kind of actually have known about it. That we're actually very familiar with it.
Starting point is 01:26:40 Yeah. Well, actually on both ends of the, like some of the people that were very familiar with it that I wouldn't have expected would be was staggering. Just for Jim Radar, it was a really, really valuable event too. It was. Yeah, I feel like we got. I mean, I would say over half the people that talked to us knew what Jim Radar was.
Starting point is 01:27:03 You know, a ton of people already did know, which is great. It shows like, yeah, we're reaching the right audience. But there were some people that we have never seen in our lives that came up and we've never talked to them. They don't know what Massonomics is, what Jim Radar is, nothing. And we actually, this actually happened a couple times. There was people that came up on Friday. And they're like, so what do you guys get going on here?
Starting point is 01:27:21 Explain it to me. And, you know, kind of give them the rundown on Jim Radar, Massonomics, that whole thing, had a pretty long conversation. and several people came back by on Saturday and were like, yeah, we looked into you guys, this is crazy. Either looked at a gym radar, this is insane, or looked into Jim Radar and also Masonomics, and wow, this is nuts what you guys have going on here.
Starting point is 01:27:41 So it was really cool to see people actually, one that this seemed interesting enough that I need to do a little homework. They did the homework and they came back by to talk to us. Also, just a sidehold. So a very engaged audience in general. Yes, very engaged audience. surprised how many people, I mean, it's not,
Starting point is 01:28:00 we're talking about dozens of people here, but the fact that it was more than one, people that work in like the home gym luxury consulting space met multiple people in that from different parts of the country. And like, I know that exists, but it was kind of crazy to hear from multiple people that are in that,
Starting point is 01:28:17 that that's their profession. Spartans, what is your profession? I build high-end luxury home gyms. Oh, Yeah, I think I caught them all in the corner chanting that. Ahu, ahu. I represent the territory of southern, southwest America, also known as SoCal. I represent very high income, high net worth clients who don't care how much they spend in a home gym.
Starting point is 01:28:55 Oh, oh. Money is no object to these people. My clients have no budget. I did, I thought that the interactive TV with Chim Radar actually worked out better than I was even picturing my head, too. Like, that was very valuable for showing people things and for other people just messing around with that. I'm just thinking how stupid. This is Sparta. This is Home Gym consultants.
Starting point is 01:29:30 And then they kick people into a bottomless hole. Oh, oh. I wish I could remember more lines from that movie, but I really remember any. Sorry, I got distracted there. The interactive demo for Home GymCon, our Ford Jim Radar was really, really good. show people off.
Starting point is 01:29:56 Oh, that actually works. And what I mentioned earlier, we got big plans for 2027 booth already. I also got big plans for Jim Radar. Case people thought we had thought that mentally, maybe those guys thought they had top, peaked to the mountain, they got to the top.
Starting point is 01:30:13 No, we're still climbing that thing. Actually, just when I thought I couldn't be more hyped on Jim Radar, we go to Home JimCon and I'm like, yeah, I'm more hyped on Jim Radar now. I'm even more, I was already positive. this was very useful and cool for the community. And now I'm like, oh, no, this is very, very useful and very, very cool for the home gym community.
Starting point is 01:30:34 You know, we've done a few shows from Masonomics over the years, met with people from all different walks of life and lifting experiences. And we've got a variety of critiques, reviews, good things. Most of the time, it's like, oh, this is really funny. That's the most common everyday person gen pop reviews. of massonomics. Oh, this is pretty funny. And then they go about their day. Right.
Starting point is 01:30:59 We got a lot of reviews of Jim Radar where it's like, this is amazing. How has no one thought of this before? How has no one done this? That's such a great idea. That's never been something somebody said about mass analogics before. No one has ever looked at mass politics before. How has no one ever done this before? How has no one made a silly goose barbell tea before?
Starting point is 01:31:21 People like that tea. No one's ever said that. People said that a lot about Jim Rider. How has no one ever done this before? Or, wow, no one has ever, like, done something to this scale or this cool. So that was a lot of really good feedback there. Yeah, I guess it's different in massonomics that way. In that way, nobody has that thought about massonomics.
Starting point is 01:31:40 Like, wow, how has no one recorded a podcast about kind of lifting for five, for 11 straight years? Well, how's no one done that? Nobody should do that. That's a bad idea. Nobody thinks that because everyone knows why nobody's done that. It's like there's no good reason to do that. Not really. You might come up with like a Jim Raider idea about 500 episodes in.
Starting point is 01:32:07 Playing the long con. Ten years in you might come up with an idea, maybe. Yes. Okay. I think that's about all about all I got to say about that. Yes. All right. So we're good there.
Starting point is 01:32:26 I think we're good there. So we can move on to next year now. We'll start planning for next year. Unfortunately, we already have. Yeah. Okay. All right. Well, Tanner, I got maybe something to take our mind off of that to do something else.
Starting point is 01:32:42 I have a new game for us. Hit some music for me. Hit some music. Hit it. Roll that beautiful bean footage. No, we already played that one. Hit it. Boat the bean footage.
Starting point is 01:32:54 You still not quite right. Getting closer. You want something a little different than that still? All right, let me try this. Okay, we can go with that. All right. Lincoln Park and Jay-Z. Close enough.
Starting point is 01:33:10 Okay, we have a new game. This is the, took us 540 weeks to come up with this game. That feels better. This new game, are you ready for this, Tanner? Are you ready? Yes. You're the contestant on this game. I'm not playing it by myself.
Starting point is 01:33:28 You are, you're going to, you're going to play here. The new game. Tommy game? No, no. Actually, I think I wrote it in here twice. The new game is, how average is he? And in this game, I pull statistics. Exceptional.
Starting point is 01:33:43 I pull statistics on the average American, and we're going to see how Tanner stacks up to the average American in a variety. Let me get my tape measure out quick. Fields and topics. So, this first, for the first ever, how average is he? segment. We're going to look at food and consumption and diet. Oh, and see how average Tanner is compared to the... Thank God, I use Macrofactor, so I'm going to know all these, all this.
Starting point is 01:34:12 Macrofactor, you too can use it. What's our discount code at Macrofactor? It's Massonomics. And it gets you like a free couple weeks. Yeah, three couple weeks try it out. Macro Factor. I'm on the macro factor. Thank God, because I lost six pounds in a day. And I'm not exaggerating when I say that. They said starting abuse of macrofactor My biggest weight loss came in one day Macrofactor is just sending warnings Things are wrong
Starting point is 01:34:38 All systems read Warning warning warning warning It's like what my body's doing right now The apps like this is not good Must consume 18,000 calories tomorrow Well maybe we'll touch more of Macrofactor at the end But okay So we're going to see how Tanner stacks up against the typical American.
Starting point is 01:35:04 We've got some different food, diet stats here. I'm going to throw these out there. We're going to see where you rank or how you feel like you stack up here. So maybe we'll even play a little guessing game with this too. Protein. You know, we'll eat a little bit of protein. You can say it's the cornerstone of the diet for any real lifter out there. What do you think the average American man?
Starting point is 01:35:24 How many grams of protein do you think the average American man gets in his diet? Oof. It's probably a really low number. I have a feeling I'm going to pick what I think is a low number, and it's going to be way lower than that. So I'm going to even lower my number more. Oh, boy. The average meal, man, I'm going to say they get like 75.
Starting point is 01:35:46 That's not a bad guess. According to this, the average is 99 grams a day. That's not that bad, then considering it. Not that bad. You were also off by 25, which is like, I don't know, you eat a little more something that way that has to be. protein in it. You eat like one Greek yogurt and your damn near there on top of that.
Starting point is 01:36:02 Right. It also says the average woman gets 67 grams of protein a day, which doesn't that number just seem laughably low, 67 grams of protein? Yeah. I mean, granted, women are smaller, so they don't need as much. But, um, right. Like just the idea of having it, like a,
Starting point is 01:36:19 going weeks on end with 67 grams of protein. Just seems like you'd be withering. I'd have to work hard to only get 99 in a day. I don't even know. It'd be a rough day. So, yeah, my, you know, my macro factor number for protein is typically around 220. What's your number at? I, I, I, I, I, I, I'd, 250, but I often get 300.
Starting point is 01:36:38 Not uncommon for me to break 300. All right. My average is probably 275. So you're almost three X in that one. Ross told me he, uh, is over 300 every single day. God. Yeah. There's a lot of protein.
Starting point is 01:36:53 All right. All right. Next one. Eggs consumed annually. Oh. Oh. Any guess with the average American, how many eggs? You can either, whatever is easier for your brain to guess here.
Starting point is 01:37:06 Do you want to guess the average eggs per week or the average eggs annually consumed? I got both numbers. Let's do eggs per week because that seems like a more meaningful number. Yeah, more meaningful number. All right. Yeah, what do you think? Average eggs per week. And I guess we're talking to eggs most commonly come in 12 and 18 packs.
Starting point is 01:37:23 So I'm like, does the average person even eat a 12 pack of eggs a day? Probably not. A day or a week, a week. I mean, I certainly do in a day at times, but in a week, I suppose they don't, because some people probably eat zero eggs ever. So that average. And then what I consider the average number is probably, I'm going to say that average per week is like four.
Starting point is 01:37:48 The average eggs consumed per week is five. That brings you to 264 eggs roughly annually. I'm going to say... How many eggs do you think you consume in a year? In a year? Well, I know right now just on simple math what my baseline number is, but then I'm going to add in like...
Starting point is 01:38:12 I'm just trying to... I just want to give a fair, a pretty fair number. Because easy math is 365 times six. That's 2,190. That's my baseline is 2,190. But per day, I average at least one more per day than that. It's probably more than that.
Starting point is 01:38:35 But if I just said one more per day, that'd be another 365. So 2,500 per year. I think that's a pretty safe number. So you're pretty much 10x. Yeah, it could be slightly higher than that. But for sure, I, like I'd say between 25 and, uh,
Starting point is 01:38:52 in between 2,500 and 2,750 per year. What was the number for the average American? In a year, 264. So you're about 10x. 264? So I'm 10x. Yeah, 10x in that one. Very, very not average there.
Starting point is 01:39:07 Yeah. I'm usually about a three egg a day guy, and I typically take the weekends off. So I'm getting about 15 a week if I had to say. So I'm about 3x, the average there. Yeah. So you're under a thousand, you think, but not far from a thousand. I think so, yeah. Yeah.
Starting point is 01:39:25 Yeah. Okay, that's eggs. Next up, we have B. beef. It's what's for dinner. How many pounds per week do you think the average American consumes a beef? This one will be interesting for people, actually, I think. The average American.
Starting point is 01:39:39 So we're going to conclude ground beef in that, of course. And how many pounds per week? Yeah. Ooh. I feel like the average American eats quite a bit of beef. A lot of hamburger. That's kind of a staple for a little. a lot of people. I suppose some people are vegan, so they're going to be zero.
Starting point is 01:40:01 So always factoring that in. I wonder if the average per week pounds is three. You are way on the high end on that one. Okay. So the average of my average, my thought is like three pounds is like a half a pound a day almost. Yeah. What do they eat? That is the thing.
Starting point is 01:40:29 Like what are people? But yeah, it says the average American consumes about a pound of, a pound of beef per week. That probably makes sense. Which brings them, yeah. Yep, about a pound a week. So 50-ish pounds a year. I don't know my exact numbers,
Starting point is 01:40:44 but it is a lot higher than that for sure. Mine's higher than that, but not that much higher than that because I eat so much chicken. Really? You think you eat only about, I mean, do you think you have less than two pounds of hamburger in a meat? Are beef in a week? No, I might be, uh, my average.
Starting point is 01:41:06 My average is probably between two and three. Okay. But it's not that much considering how much food. You know, I eat a lot of food. So like it's just not, I feel like my number of beef is lower than what people might expect. Right. I think, yeah, I think, I think so in this case. You're not 10x.
Starting point is 01:41:22 You know, you can say, right. Right. Right. Yeah, right. Right. No, no, no, no. All right. Out of the next one.
Starting point is 01:41:32 Soda. Pop. Sparkly beverages. Sparkling water? No, no. We're saying sparkly, sparkly, sugary beverages.
Starting point is 01:41:41 Oh, God. I just know your numbers like zero here. Yeah, sparkly like calorie beverages, not counting beer. Not counting just juice from fruit. That would not count. No, that's not. I'm talking.
Starting point is 01:41:59 here. This thing is regular carbonated soft drinks. Average 0.0.0.1 per, like, I might have a sip of something per year. So like, none. Yeah. And this says the average. Zero per week average for sure. Zero point something per year.
Starting point is 01:42:18 I'm in the same both. I mean, I'll probably have, I don't know, we'll probably stop at some stupid fast food place and I'll maybe get like a sprite or something. Yeah. But that is few and far between. It says the average American has about. a can of soda a day. That equals out to about 38 gallons of year.
Starting point is 01:42:36 I might guess it was even higher than that. I know, because there are some people that they have four, five, six a day. Common. And I mean, I think everyone knows someone that does that, you know. Right. It's not like that unusual.
Starting point is 01:42:47 So I think there's, like, there's zero people. There's the zeros, the extremes. And then there's like some more averages in there. But. Right.
Starting point is 01:42:57 Are we talking mean, median or mode? Oh, God, don't even throw back. Yeah. Caffeine consumption. What do you think the average milligrams consume per day? Average per day? Well, America runs on coffee.
Starting point is 01:43:13 Or white monsters. Right. Energy drinks are absolutely insane. Pre-workout probably even is enough widely used at this point to tip the scales a little bit. Do you think it's that common with people that don't work out, though? I think most people would probably just buy an energy drinks. It's more valuable. Kind of.
Starting point is 01:43:31 But those average 200 milligrams a can. A lot of them, yes, or more. Yeah, like some are 300. Well, some of them are 100. A cup of coffee is like 80. Some people probably, there's people out there that consume no caffeine, but I don't think that that's a huge portion of the population. That's going to be less than vegans and less than people that don't eat eggs.
Starting point is 01:43:55 I mean, I've ever tried to crunch in numbers in a spreadsheet all day without caffeine. coursing through your body. Oh, so the average milligrams per day, that's really hard. That seems like the hardest one. I'm going to say like 150. It's not a bad guess. This says 180 to 210 is pretty average, which would be, you know,
Starting point is 01:44:18 two-ish cups of coffee. Yeah. A lot of people. And I'm like, yeah, that. Or a energy drink. Yeah. Or, yeah. That's numbers not that high compared to, I know some very high.
Starting point is 01:44:28 There's a lot of high caffeine people. I know some grammars a day, people. Yeah, which is just wild. Yeah. Okay. Let's move on to restaurants. Oh, I guess I didn't say what mine is. Oh, yeah.
Starting point is 01:44:41 Yeah, what is yours? Average per day? I guess I'd say 100. Yeah. I'll go through, like, it's not unusual if I'll have a few days where I'll have no coffee. And then I'll get the coffee going and I'm like, well, I got one cup going. Might as well have another one. And then I got another one.
Starting point is 01:44:56 But yeah, I'm not a huge caffeine guy either. restaurants. The average American dines at a restaurant three times per month. Tanner, how many times you go into Schwanties in a month? Dining? Well, do you, how often do you eat food when you go there?
Starting point is 01:45:14 Not very often. Oh, okay. I don't know if you ate food most of the time. I go there probably twice a month. Okay. I don't know if you ate food every time you went or not. Probably ever other time. Okay.
Starting point is 01:45:22 So I gives you to one a month. But there's usually at least one other time per month. So the average American is dining out only three times per month. I thought this number seems surprisingly low. The average Americans like freaking 20 times a month. Out of all the things on here, all these numbers seem very realistic to me. I don't know if I'm just around different people. My average is actually probably three times per month, I think, which I thought would be insanely low.
Starting point is 01:45:48 Like I almost don't know people that go out. I thought I'm like on the way low end of the spectrum there. Because even people, I feel like that say they don't eat out or don't dine out, they still get like coffee. or they're like picking up. They're picking up stuff through drive-through windows and things like that. Mine's probably three times a week or three times a month because it's not every week, but most, it's probably like three and a half, actually, I think, because most times at least never for breakfast, never for lunch.
Starting point is 01:46:16 But about once a week, we'll get something that's not something made at home. I'd say my number here is probably closer to eight. Yeah. Which that seems, that seems like that almost seems like below what I would consider average. Because like I'm like a lot of people go out for lunch like every day. I actually lot of people do that. But my thing is like usually there's like one night during the week where we're running around. We got something going on and we pick up food, you know, it's a convenience thing.
Starting point is 01:46:44 So there's usually one of those. And then usually there's one time on the weekend where that's like a thing we're to go do. Like you're going to go all go eat. Yeah. Like it's like out, let's go get out of the house and go do something. So we'll usually go out, eat out once on the weekend. There's definitely ones where we don't go out. And there's definitely ones where it's like, oh, let's get something on Friday night.
Starting point is 01:47:02 And let's get breakfast on Saturday morning. And oh, let's go out and like, that's not the norm, but that happens to us sometimes too. Saying that the average is three is wild to me. I don't know if I believe that one. Like I don't think McDonald's exists at the scale. That's what I'm saying. Yeah. Three times per month.
Starting point is 01:47:18 Right. Like less than once a week, you know. Some people go there every day. I think a fair number of people do. Yeah. All right. We'll move on. This next one's the final one.
Starting point is 01:47:32 This one revolves around drinking. A little. Hello. A little bit called consuming alcohol. I don't want to disappoint anyone with this one, but I might. Do I have a few different stats here. I'm trying to think of what one I want to ask you with. This feels like the doctor when I go in there.
Starting point is 01:47:51 See, that's kind of what this ties into because it is the doctor thing. I believe this is the number. Okay, do you know what, do you know what the number is considered for heavy drinking? Per what? Drinks per week. To be considered heavy. A heavy drink. So we're saying almost like the number of drinks per week to consider heavy.
Starting point is 01:48:09 It's probably lower than what I would consider heavy. So I'll say it's 14. Yeah. This says 15. 15 plus. And I mean like, yes. That doesn't seem all that. That is a lot.
Starting point is 01:48:20 But you're like, well, it is two a day. That's what I was like. A day doesn't seem that crazy. But if you drink two drinks every single day, you're kind of a drinker. Well, I mean, yeah, you're a drink. You're not not a drinker having two a day. Right. But also, like, if you just drink two drinks every day, like you're never getting a bun.
Starting point is 01:48:38 Oh, no. Drunk either. You're just like, it's part of your diet. Or if you say, that's not the scenario. You really only drink every other day. Well, you have four drinks every time. No, I only drink on Friday. Like, this is like kind of like, okay, you're getting a buzz.
Starting point is 01:48:53 on every other night. Like that's... Or you're like, no, look. I only drink once a week. I only drink on Friday and Saturday nights and I just have like 10 beers on both those nights. I don't have 20 beers. Yeah, and then you're just kind of binge drinking
Starting point is 01:49:06 every weekend, you know. 15-ish is like... That's where I'm... I don't know if I use the word heavy, but I'm like, you are a drinker at that point. You do a little drinking. But, you know, if you're just doing two a day, you keep it light. You're keeping it tasteful there.
Starting point is 01:49:26 You're basically going through like a case of beer a week. Like in your mind, you're like, oh, I don't drink. You know, I get to pick up a new case every Saturday. But that's not not drinking. This also says about 50% of adults report drinking in the last month, which I believe by everything I've heard and seen that number is just, on the decline all the time now. Big time.
Starting point is 01:49:52 But drinking, even amongst under, I think underage drinking is big on the decline. Yeah, you know, the alcohol industry needs to look at making a bunch of funny teen comedy movies all based on heavily drinking. And they'll just influence a generation. Proper freaking country.
Starting point is 01:50:07 When I was in high school, everyone drank. That was very much a thing then. Everyone, uh, let alone college, obviously. Oh, yeah, that was what that whole environment was built around there. It's just tailored towards it. But I don't think it's really the case anymore, which is good for society in general probably. I suppose there's alternatives and you argue what's what and stuff.
Starting point is 01:50:30 You say, well, but does this contribute to the death of the third place? You know, you have to go and hang out and just cost you with your friends now. Right. No one's doing anything crazy. Right. I guess I would just say, I'm actually a hypocrite because, man, did I have a lot of fun? been drinking with my friends for years. I mean, you can say our brand is kind of built around that.
Starting point is 01:50:52 Yeah. And what I would say is a hypocrite because as an adult in my mind, now I'm like, I think it's better if 16-year-olds aren't binge drinking every weekend with their friends. Yes, I don't think anyone's making any excuses for that part. But I'm a hypocrite when I say that because I don't have a bad memory. Well, you know, like overall, I had a lot of fun doing that. Right.
Starting point is 01:51:15 And like a lot of things that I still laugh about with friends. doing that. So in that logic, no harm, no foul. Here's what I'd say. It was fine for me. Other people shouldn't do it. That's a lot of the stuff. It's all very of your circumstances and your experiences. That reminded me, you know, talking about kids in high school. We had you and I encountered a scenario, which made me say, we used to be a proper freaking country when people at pizza shops would go on their smoke break and smoke real ass cigarettes. They wouldn't go on vape breaks, you know. Yes. It wouldn't be vaping.
Starting point is 01:51:56 Which we encountered. I'm like, man, a vape break, just outside with all your buddies, just vaping. Just having a vape. Before you got to go back in and work. Come on. What happened to real cigarettes? Smoke a cig. Okay.
Starting point is 01:52:11 Well, that concludes how average is Tanner food edition. So we're going to, I mean, is that going to be able to be recurring or did we just do it all? I think the only thing that stats exist for is food. So I think we just burned out that segment. It's done. We can never do it again. I cannot wrap my head around how it could be anything other than food. Okay.
Starting point is 01:52:31 You know what? I'm going to start brainstorming right now. If there's any way that segment has legs to be repeated, it might be it, though. That might be the end of it. Overall, I guess I was above average on some and below average on some. Yeah. I would say actually you didn't fit the average on many, to be honest. Eating out, but I think that number was bullshit.
Starting point is 01:52:57 I don't really believe that number. Outside of that, though, you weren't really in the average window very often. No. No. You're kind of like a 5% or probably if we had to. Yeah, I'm kind of wondering how that's average if I'm out like, how would the 39-year-old white guy from the Midwest not be in the average category? on some stuff here.
Starting point is 01:53:21 Give it time. We'll find something. We'll find more average categories for me. Okay. I think we should bring this burden for a landing. Oh, yeah. Yeah. We've got to save some stuff for next week.
Starting point is 01:53:34 Really quick. Hit me with the radar report. Really quick. Really quick. Yes. I will do that. Ladies and gentlemen, can I please have your attention?
Starting point is 01:53:44 Radar love. Radar report. A lot of people at home, JimCon, love Jim Radar. We've crossed 2,000 users. It's a big number. Yep. And that's some cool stuff in the works. So stay tuned, people.
Starting point is 01:54:03 People said we couldn't do it. You know what I got to say to those people? We did it. We did do it. I'll say this, we're not resting on our western Northeast, South Dakota, Laurels over here. We're getting after it. I did see the part where I said that to Kavon.
Starting point is 01:54:24 And you can just see the confused, like the smirk of confusion in his eyes. He's like, what do you even mean? And I'm like, that's the secret. I don't even know what I mean. I saw him walking through the hall one day. And I'm like, Kavon, Tanner, I were dying, recounting the interview. And Tanner goes, yeah, these guys, they're not resting on their Canadian laurels. You could tell he was still just like in disbelief.
Starting point is 01:54:51 Like you didn't know. Like what are you supposed to do with that? Kavan is very aware of massonomics. But also I think like at times still doesn't completely understand what the hell is going on around here. It can actually be. Yes. Check out our YouTube content on Home GymCon. We've got a second video upcoming.
Starting point is 01:55:15 If you haven't watched it yet, check out the M-Tor. chamber home gym tour that we published a very cool home gym that we got to tour in that one. Like I said, the home gym content. Brandon Doyles, home gym tour coming. And then believe it or not, we get back from this stuff and we're already planning like the next 70 billion million trips and stuff that are going on. It's August. We got to plan out what we're doing through the end of December. Like we have to.
Starting point is 01:55:44 I mean, we're actually in the process of planning at least like five. actually six. I think we're in the process of planning six upcoming trips. Yeah. The crazy thing is I have a process. I mean like we're actually like working on all of those things at once. Yeah. Apparently I have a wife and kids too and they're also planning trips all the time. So it's like, yeah, I guess I'll just be a traveling traveler for the rest of my life.
Starting point is 01:56:09 Bit of a vagabond. I won't, I don't, I won't work or have a home base anymore. I am nomadic. I will just be sick for the, the rest of my life. I will just be behind on everything forever.
Starting point is 01:56:25 You know that general not good feeling you have when you're on a plane? Oh, you mean, like when you're really tired and kind of disoriented and you can't tell you have caffeine in you or what's going on and you're like hungry and dehydrate. Your stomach is like always a state of a little unsettled. Uh-huh. Like not from turbulence or whatever,
Starting point is 01:56:43 just like your stomach just always has like, you're at least 5% queasy at all times. Like it's not an extreme sickness, but you're just like... You don't feel solid like when you're at home. You just feel good. Yeah. That. Forever.
Starting point is 01:57:01 That, but forever. All right. That was 540. Tommy, where do they... Actually, you forgot to tell me about the Strength Co, I think. Oh, I didn't forget. You didn't let me tell you about the Strength Co. It's trying to right.
