Let's get serious. Are you ready?
Starting point is 00:00:39 I'm ready. Born ready. Is that gravy on your shirt? Or are you just happy to see me? Oh, okay. So it's old. Yeah. All right. Yeah, it doesn Or are you just happy to see me? Oh, okay. So it's old. Yeah. All right.
Starting point is 00:00:47 Yeah, it doesn't come off. All right, ladies and gentlemen, welcome to this week's episode of the Masonomics Podcast. I am Tyler. Next to me is Tommy. What's up? And way over there is Tanner. Hey, everybody. Is it tack or tacky?
Starting point is 00:00:58 I don't know. I think you can call it either. Well, some people are kind of tacky, though, if that's what you're... Yeah. I just had a moment there where I said tacky, and I was like, is that right, or do you say tack? I don't know. What do you say? Well, it is...
Starting point is 00:01:10 What is the product? I always said tacky, but I think it's just because I heard you guys say... Like spider tack? Yeah. Or is it tacky? I think it would say like spider tack on it. Well, I guess we'll never find out. Really, it's one of the great mysteries of strength training.
Starting point is 00:01:23 You know what else was a great mystery? When did Tanner become Mr. LaCroix hipster over here? Oh, my God. Tanner, how do you say that flavor? Oh, this? This is Pomebea. Not familiar with that flavor. Or as I like to say, Apple Cranberry.
Starting point is 00:01:40 Oh, that's how they go. Okay. I'm pretty into, we call themzy bubblies yeah they uh they also i saw some deal online where they're making fun of them where they're like yeah this la croix is uh has been in a room next to some apples because it doesn't fucking taste like anything that is a really good it like smells like what something would smell like it smells like what something would smell like if it was around the house. It smells like what a pear tastes like. But it doesn't taste like anything.
Starting point is 00:02:08 That is true. Yeah, that's a really good description. It's been next to some apples in its life. It was next to something that tasted like a thing, but it definitely isn't that thing. There's a really funny one I saw, and I know I mentioned this to you once before, too. The only people that like LaCroix are the people that haven't had anything else to drink before in their lives. Never had anything with
Starting point is 00:02:29 actual flavor in it. Like if you only ever had water before in your life and you had this, you'd be like, oh, that's pretty interesting. What a compelling flavor. It is a little more exciting than nothing. It's kind of like how Diet Mountain Dew is just like regular Mountain Dew for people who don't like things that taste good.
Starting point is 00:02:45 Right. Exactly. So this week, Tanner's getting the hotness. You should put on the story right now. Okay, I can do it right now. This week, we are live on the podcast. Well, live-ish on the podcast. Recorded live.
Starting point is 00:03:02 Recorded live. We are Red Team versus blue team draft next year we'll rent out a big hall and invite everyone in the town everybody everybody can wear their big chain quashmik jerseys yeah find out what team he's going to uh yeah so we're going to start out since tanner is wearing, we'll give him team red. I'm a little partial to blue anyways, so that works out for me. Let's run down real quick the format again. So this isn't a last man picked is a real fucking loser.
Starting point is 00:03:38 No, we were just talking about that. The last man picked will probably be the best matchup. Because neither of us are like, well. And all of them are hard picks. I started looking through the matchups trying to be like, boy. Even if we had to purposefully divide the teams in a way that we thought would make it close, I don't know if I would know how to do that. Well, that's right. That's what I had said when we recorded that the first time.
Starting point is 00:04:03 I even said I would like to do that. And then I got to looking at it and I was like i can't do that like i i don't know and then if i if i did that and it turned out where like that whatever team i was on one then it's like well what just yeah even though my goal is not to win my goal is that it like comes out and as close to a tie as possible so maybe we should give people a quick breakdown, recap of what's happening here. Coming up, we have the Masonomics Strongman Showdown 2018 presented by Natural Dakota Soy for everyone interested. It is going to be the red team versus the blue team. Do we get to give you guys the unofficial title of captains for the sake of this exercise?
Starting point is 00:04:42 Might as well. I guess for the draft, at least. When it actually comes down to it, I'm not So the red team draft captain will be Tanner. Blue team draft captain will be Tyler. And we have 10 events. Each one is a
Starting point is 00:04:56 one-on-one battle. We got these two guys pitted against each other in a variety of events. And these guys are going to pick who they want to battle it out on their team. We've got the list of 20, and these guys are going to pick who they want to battle it out on their team. We've got the list of 20 names on these sticky labels. Did you make up a lot of those? Those nicknames are – some of those nicknames are new to me.
Starting point is 00:05:14 Okay, so we got some – If I want to go down the – Well, maybe we'll save those for the draft. Now, here's what I've just realized is now when we because you and i are automatically going to be a team yeah our opponents will automatically have to be on the other team so we're actually going to burn off four four of the 20 will be done just off so we should probably slap them down right away so team red is going to be tanner yep and that what what what event is that that is the weight over bar for height now now here's there's a little rumbling going on here tanner there was talk that maybe tanner was thinking
Starting point is 00:05:53 about sitting this competition out so he could there's a lot of things that go into putting it on it's exhausting a lot of things it's probably an understatement too it also is a tremendous pain in the ass and big sh Shane has been retired for a couple years. I'm not going to say that this isn't a taxing event. But you are just throwing a thing three times.
Starting point is 00:06:16 I could easily say that it is the least taxing event out of the ten. And by quite a ways. And that is exactly the reason that you and Shaneane yes the the number one reason the honest truth the number one reason is i knew this is how i could get shane to do it pull him out of retirement big shane uh and if you you follow mass nomics on instagram you you probably know who big shane is by now he He's probably one of our most post about local gems at the gym.
Starting point is 00:06:47 He's probably a posing expert. Probably got some autographed t-shirts. But that was number one is that I could get Big Shane to do it. And then number two, yes, because I would do it then. And also, so people understand what's on the line here. Each of these events has $50. Oh, really? $50 cash American dollars.
Starting point is 00:07:06 And an award. And some type of award will be given for each event winner. So this isn't just something you phone in here. And there will also be a team award for the winning team here too. So points, team points matter. Yep. Alright. So that's our first one. We took myself
Starting point is 00:07:22 and then you get Shane by default. Sweet. And these are across. You know, the matchups are all across from each other. Perfect, perfect. So I don't have to think. No, no, they're all there. Well, I guess I'll draft.
Starting point is 00:07:35 I'll choose myself. Yep. So putting Tyler over on the blue team. And this is in the one rep max log clean and press. Yep. Single rep, add weight, single rep. So Tanner, who are you going to put on your team over there? I get Jacob Big Country Dagle.
Starting point is 00:07:53 Jacob is big. 350 pounds. Is he 350? Mother fucker. 6'4", 350. I was really, really hoping. He said he wants a 2XL shirt. I was kind of like, I don't know.
Starting point is 00:08:05 We like them tight. Both you guys, I was like, are you sure you guys don't want 3Xs? But Shane said he wants a large. And he's 6'3", 265. Them sleeves are coming off right away. He's the same size as me. He's going to at least create the illusion
Starting point is 00:08:21 he's much bigger than you. A large? That's out of the question for me, but he said large. He said he wants it. He said, you know, for doing these events, probably kind of a snugger t-shirt is better. You're more aerodynamic that way, so it makes sense. Okay.
Starting point is 00:08:40 So now we're left with how many here? 16? Eight matchups? Eight matchups, yes. And we can talk on the you don't we probably don't need to run down this but if we wanted to i do have everyone's bios here too let's do that for we'll say that for the pre-show yeah yeah yep so we'll just kind of go through the names so since tyler got to pick his color i'm going to be the first picker here. Right now I've got myself and Jacob Big Country Dagle,
Starting point is 00:09:09 and Tyler's got himself and Big Shane Kwashnik. And to be honest, I haven't thought of this ahead of time now, so right now I'm like, this is really going to be by the seat of our pants. and like we said whoever i pick tyler obviously gets the uh the opponent then i'm gonna go with flying ryan defay so this event is the max deadlift elevated deadlift it's they're using tires um i don't know how many inches it's maybe like a 13 inch off the ground pull around so it's for a max single and the format of that is it's going to be like a rising bar but i picture it the same as your log press event that after the you guys will decide a way to open with and then you don't want to make six attempts on this no and you'll probably do the
Starting point is 00:10:02 same attempt next because like one person's not going to be like, for their second, like, oh, I'll do 300 and I want to do 305. They'll be like, well, let's do the same because it's just me versus you. It's whichever one of us two can do more. So they'll probably jump up at the same weights, I would kind of guess, until the very end, I suppose. So Tyler then gets Eve, the governor baka my man eve's a veteran to the uh veteran specialist i would say crafty veteran yeah he still has a
Starting point is 00:10:36 state record in uh the old uh weight classes which which what did he what's it like 655 yeah yeah and i think and it was the old weight classes so it was probably 198 or 220 probably yeah yeah that would make more sense this is killing me you guys oh wait what i i knew what i was going to ask you a little wild card here tyler's wife is one of the matchups so i wonder if he's gonna pick his wife or So I wonder if he would be in trouble. Yeah, is Tyler going to pick his wife or leave that one? If he would be in the doghouse if he does not pick his wife first. The problem is. You can just kind of let that one simmer and see if Tanner jumps on it. Does Megan listen to this usually then? She doesn't even listen to me talk to her.
Starting point is 00:11:17 So I don't know. The deal with that matchup is I coach both of those women, and that is a really close matchup. And they're doing Sandbag. Would you say your position is similar to Stan Efferty and coaching Brian Shaw and Thor? Basically, yeah, pretty much. I'm going to go, God, I'm going to take what I think is a good pick for the event.
Starting point is 00:11:48 And we also pre-faceless if we don't pick someone. We're not. No. All these matchups are very close. The difference between picking someone might be you've lifted with them a couple times compared to zero times. Now, I've also seen both these guys do this. Or you've seen more Instagram videos. Now, I've also seen both these guys do this.
Starting point is 00:12:03 Or you've seen more Instagram videos. But I have seen Trevor Thundercat Siemensma fucking run with an 850-pound yoke. Like, run with it. So he's going to be my guy. We've got to get some extra big. He's the other over 300-pounder on my team. That's what I was going to say. One other thing to consider in these picks, the final event, the most points event is a tug of war, where I would think generally the biggest advantage in a tug of war would be total pounds
Starting point is 00:12:31 on the side of the rope. You would think. So that is something to think about in these matchups. Like, who do you think will win that event? And also, which one of them is heavier? Because you might want the heavier guy on your side. We also need to do that is somehow, somewhere, we need to list the total weight.
Starting point is 00:12:47 Yeah. Yeah. We'll get a group scale out there. For the rope, for the tug of war. Make sure the rope is structurally sound. Now, that means Tanner is landing, honestly, a pretty good fucking yoke hauler, too. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:13:00 It's Alan. Alan Ironbender Larson. Ironbender Larson. Alan works with, he's a welder or something. How do you like Thundercat? I do like that. So yeah, some of these nicknames are new just for this event, and I ran up by these guys.
Starting point is 00:13:16 They don't know what their nickname is yet. I suppose if they're listening, they do. But they did say that it's okay for me to make up nicknames for them. Did any of them volunteer nicknames and say, I already have one? I pretty much wasn't rolling with those because those usually aren't as – I didn't know if they were like, no, you don't have to make one. I already have one. No, but I'm not allowing that because I –
Starting point is 00:13:35 They call me the spider. Whatever Trevor's nickname is, it's probably not as good as Thundercat. Or it's really fucking cool. Think of not as good as Thundercat. Probably. Or it's really fucking cool. Think of a nickname better than Thundercat. I wondered if maybe a couple of these guys might stick. Like, Jacob should be big country. Jake should be big country. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:13:54 This is the first competition, other than Big Joe, where I'm not fucking. Not the heaviest. Jake is the fucking biggest. He's also. And it's also an overhead press event. So I'm like desperately trying to figure out how I can put 30 pounds of body weight on in the next fucking five weeks.
Starting point is 00:14:10 And Jake is a, Jacob is a national level amateur strongman competitor. I mean, if you were not going through the bios, but if you, what do you do here? What is like, Oh,
Starting point is 00:14:19 like there's a couple of these guys that I'll mention that they're not your average, uh, like a gym guy. Right, right. Like, he is a competitive guy on the national level and, like, just below professional level, honestly. So now it's my pick. I have to shut up for a second and think about this.
Starting point is 00:14:43 See, it's just really hard because. I know. And part of it is it is too where it's also like all right here's the truth everyone wants fucking larry on his except i also saw thick nick fucking squat yeah and so and i like thick nick too and and there you go nick probably has lair weighs you know 30 40 pounds more than larry so if you think they're the same as nick better than because he's you know be not i don't know do you think weight is the biggest thing on tug of war or not though like yeah i mean i don't know what else to helps yeah i mean it's a component for sure yeah i wouldn't want the lightest of the two teams it doesn't mean it's guaranteed but right yeah if you had yeah oh god It's a guarantee, but I prefer we do heavy. Yeah. Oh, God.
Starting point is 00:15:29 Do we have to start the countdown clock? Yeah, you might. I guess we can't just sit here on a podcast and just be staring at a piece of paper. Everybody listen to Tanner think. I don't want to turn between these two. He's still thinking. I'm going with the heavy. Just what I was talking about.
Starting point is 00:15:46 The reason I'm going with this is because of the weight thing on the tug-of-war, and these two might be one of the bigger discrepancy in body weight. I'm going with, this is for the Atlas Stone Last Man Standing event with the 330 stone over bar. I'm excited for that event. And I'm going with the Pride of Minnesota, the only Minnesotan in the competition this year. The only doctor competing as well. Dr. Brad Night Moves Night Soul.
Starting point is 00:16:12 He's working on those night moves. Brad, you're probably listening to this. That's the first time you heard it. You can let me know if you don't like it, but it's too late. It's been set still. It's actually going on the shirt like an XFL jersey. We had to get special letters to fit in the same night moves on the back. So that means I got Tim the Slim Reaper feathers.
Starting point is 00:16:34 Now, when it comes to body weight, there is a bit of a – now, Tim, I think, is getting thicker, though. He's put on some weight. He's about 225. And Brad's about 280. He's 280. But the thing with Tim is –'s a brad's really fucking strong yeah tim is unreasonably strong for his size and then really good with atlas stones and i would say from what
Starting point is 00:16:55 i've seen i think probably in his weight one of the better stone loaders in the country yeah at his weight class i think that's fair like yeah in the time i mean you'd have to search far and long to find someone better than he's done like what's the time i mean you'd have to search far and long to find someone better than he's done like what's this he's another guy where when you hear his bio you'll be like what the fuck yeah over a 350 pound stone hasn't he he's done he's done a four four he's i can tell you on exactly the case on that he's done a 425 pound stone at 220 pounds body weight that shit hurts my feelings yeah he might have my favorite nickname too i like because if you look at tim that fit yeah it works really good it's really good yeah
Starting point is 00:17:34 and i like night moves too because it's a little sexual you better let me see the roster oh yeah and if we know one thing about big brad everything's a little sexual overtly i have two there's two there's two the truth is the two matchups at the bottom i simply don't even know where to put you know i mean it's because of the events for one are wild cards oh yeah the events are a bit wild cards and i'm not familiar completely with these two guys so i I'm going to stick with Thick Nick. That is a big vote of confidence. That's in the squat for reps event. Do you think a big part of you picking him is watching him?
Starting point is 00:18:16 I watched him squat and I know this. I know one, he's willing to fucking die. I mean it. He was willing to die. I think you could make that argument for either competitor here. That's true. That's true. That's true. But,
Starting point is 00:18:26 uh, Nick, like I was really surprised. And also it's a lift that there's some technical variations. This is a little bit different of a lift than the other. And Nick is such a, so I do think that he's going to have like a very refined approach to, he'll have the best,
Starting point is 00:18:43 um, preparation for this lift yeah for sure probably for anyone but now because of that i get to say i am sacrificing the crowd favorite favorite larry the legend and that's no joke the crowd the local hometown hero larry the legend shooky no one gets the people going more than larry yeah it is it's the people it's routine like. It's provocative. It is. It gets the people going. It's routine.
Starting point is 00:19:12 Like, if you are out at the Brown County Fair and people know that you have anything to do with the strongman, people will be like, oh, I'm coming to watch. My nephew's competing. Like, oh, I didn't know there was anyone young in this thing. Oh, Larry Shook. It's like, whoa. He gets everyone out here. Like, oh, do you know that Larry guy? Yeah, he's my buddy
Starting point is 00:19:25 from back in the day like you haven't seen these people for 10 years oh but i getting larry by default is you know in all these cases it's like oh you better get that nick really impressed me yeah tyler you better not you better hope that larry doesn't get the day off before the competition and get those energy levels way up. Oh. Because, I mean, he normally is working 16 hours a day every day. The Friday before, Larry will work until dark. Yeah. And then he'll show up in his flip-flops in the morning to help us set up.
Starting point is 00:19:58 And then it gets more and more difficult. Yeah. I mean, they all are anyways, but. Tick. yeah i mean they all are anyways but tick i'm gonna take jake the snake all right now that is a significant body weight yeah this this one might be the biggest body weight change even pretty cool yeah because samisi is about 330 so that's a big tug of war that's a big tug of war body and in this event samisi is samisi is about 330. So that's a big tug of war. That's a big tug of war. And in this event, Samisi is very powerful. He's like me, though. He's got about 45 seconds of work in him, and then he's going to run out of steam.
Starting point is 00:20:37 And what event is this again? This is the keg over the keg loads, which there's some distance to be covered. There's a foot speed aspect to it and a big part of this is me this isn't one where i just don't know him yeah you know so it's like i guess does this event kind of border on your 400 meter dash like it's a sprint but it's kind of a way it's probably more like a 200 okay okay but a heavy two so yeah so me see it however it's maybe maybe we'll say a 300 meter dash i was thinking more like 125 okay yeah out of all the events it's the most endurance based events aside
Starting point is 00:21:13 from also the the squat for reps and the car deadlift for reps yeah this one maybe even more because you're running the other two are static events still in this one. But you know, if this weight is really heavy to you, you're going to be fucked. Yeah. So it'll be cool. I'd say, as far as weights... I think this event is as much of a wild card as what we have on it. The last weight is to be determined on this.
Starting point is 00:21:36 The first three will be doable for these guys, definitely, and mostly anyone here. The last one is going to be the most challenge obviously it's going to be the most challenging but i think it's going to really be next be a challenge yeah like it'll really be a challenge i think they can both do it but it'll just like really be a challenge so that because i think it's going to be exciting to see yeah you know maybe them tear through the first few as they increase in weight and then really have to work for the last one.
Starting point is 00:22:05 Yeah. I mean, that's an event that's, it's such a wild card event because of the time, time. Yeah. I am going to, for the second time in my life,
Starting point is 00:22:14 choose Megan. Because at this point, and that the first time, did you also pick one, two, three, four, five people before her? I mean i mean honestly maybe we don't get into that not not the exact numbers yeah maybe we keep some keep the totals off she'll never hear this one and don't put this as a clip on Instagram. Oh, it's cool.
Starting point is 00:22:45 He can just message it right to her. Make that the clip so that everyone... So then I get... You get Adele. Adele Munga. Yep. And you know more about her than I do. Adele is...
Starting point is 00:22:55 That's a very even match with her and Adele. Adele is, say, a little taller. She's actually probably a little bit better as far as overhead strength and probably carry strength. Foot speed, they're probably close to the same. What's this event again? This is a sandbag over bar, so it's just going to be a ton of loading, running around the yoke, throwing it back, around the yoke, throwing it back.
Starting point is 00:23:19 So a minute, right? Is that what it is? Either a minute or 90 seconds like whatever the best maybe i'll have them i'll have them tinker with it and i'll see what gets boring they're the two doing it right 60 seconds we might as well shut it down yes all right so then it's i'm up now we're down to four and these are left these are hard i I'm going to think out loud on this one. The bottom one, the car deadlift for reps. We get into that weight thing again. This is a big-time weight one.
Starting point is 00:23:53 This is 100 pounds discrepancy. This is the biggest, at least visual, discrepancy between two competitors. Grayson at 5'4", and matt at 6'5 and probably a hundred pounds difference between them too yeah but on the strength they are since you don't know this is maybe beneficial for you because i don't know i still don't know who i'm going to pick out of this but uh grayson or matt can deadlift more than grayson he has deadlifted more grayson's probably deadlifted about 550 matt's deadlifted like 575 580 grayson can squat more i don't know how much more and this is a deadlift event so there's a big range of motion factor in this one
Starting point is 00:24:39 when we're talking and the car in my opinion short. And I've seen Grayson do this before. He can smash the car. But, you know, Ryan kills the car deadlift too, and he's tall as fuck. Yeah. Sometimes it just goes to the house. And this guy could be Ryan's. I mean, I haven't kept up with his training for the last six months. I don't know what he's been up to.
Starting point is 00:25:03 But they look similar. I mean, they're very similar builds. And then the other matchup is two rookies to Strongman. You know, they're both Massonomics Gym guys and both wanted to get in it, and it seemed like a good matchup. I've never seen either of them even do that, so that is complete. I'm going to... even do that so that is complete uh i'm gonna that's how we're getting he's thinking again this isn't your conventional uh last uh
Starting point is 00:25:36 last man picked these are these are probably the tightest matchups now i'm gonna take grayson grayson anatomy phillips which is twofold it's a gray it's a gray is that obvious does everyone catch that well and also i like it and also i like it because uh grayson is by far the leanest and most yeah of all of us so what's a better nickname, Grayson Anatomy or the Slim Reaper? I think it's a draw. Slim Reaper only goes one way. Yeah. The Grayson Anatomy, it's because he literally looks like an anatomical drawing of what muscles are.
Starting point is 00:26:17 Right. The most ripped strongman competitor. For sure. So I'm going to take him, but giving up 100 pounds on the – and that's twice I did that. Twice you've given up – After we're done, will you total up? Can we get the weights on air today? Yeah.
Starting point is 00:26:33 Well, I don't know that I'll be able to have – I could approximate it, but I don't – You don't have everybody's weight? No, I don't have – Well, I do have them, but I don't have it with me. Oh. I don't have the weights with me. Fucking loser.
Starting point is 00:26:43 Yeah, I didn't bring that. Geez. Maybe we'll have to withhold that. Organization skills. have the weights with me. Yeah, I didn't bring that. Geez. Maybe we'll have to withhold that. Look at all this. It's like he wasn't even prepared. Yeah, come on. He had stickers and a fucking... So you get Matt, Matty, Ice, Rangan.
Starting point is 00:26:56 Oh, man. Our sole North Dakota representative. I think there's a little bit of a size difference between Nick and Justin. Yeah. Probably what, like 40? Nick's about 30, 40 pounds heavier maybe i'd say 30 now i'm going to go i i have a bit of inside information not inside information what about our is beard length a factor in this one's gonna factor somewhat into my decision also i have seen justin headed into the back room with the farmer's handles once and that's something i
Starting point is 00:27:26 haven't i haven't seen nick do it so that's literally the only thing that's factoring into my decision yeah um because i would have no idea where either of these two guys are on grip uh nick works for the city what's justin do for a living he works for 3m fuck one of them are like none of them are carrying anything with their hands so i'm gonna stick with my first instinct just because with strongman stuff the guy with one or two reps of practice goes a long way i do think just on that on the body weight thing um we might this one versus this one and this one versus this one i consider a wash here i'm plus 50 here you're plus almost that much so that might wash here i'm plus 60 but
Starting point is 00:28:17 then you're plus 40 30 40 so i might be up, but then you gain 80. Yeah. So then you're up probably 50 to 60. Um, that costs me probably about 25. Okay. So then you're up maybe 30, but then here you gain a hundred. So you're up one 30 and I made me gain. So it's still as only, it's probably still a single digit difference. It's actually pretty even. Yeah. You have the slight, slight weight advantage. I. It's actually pretty even. You have the slight weight advantage. I'd say 50 to 90 pounds you for the blue team. I'm not done gaining weight, guys. I've got six weeks.
Starting point is 00:28:53 So that's our final blue team versus red team. I like it. Yeah. Did all the Sioux Falls guys didn't end up on one team or anything? No, no. I got Trevor and Tim. Yeah, we don't have all the out-of-town guys on one team or anything. No, no. I got Trevor and Tim. Yeah, we don't have all the out-of-town guys on one team. Yeah, it's not like all the Aberdeen.
Starting point is 00:29:09 Well, that would be a problem because we might get fucking smashed. It wouldn't benefit us. Especially if you look at all the out-of-towns guys are kind of some bad motherfuckers. Yeah. Why didn't we bring in a bunch of guys that suck? Yeah, we brought in people that are like all better than us. It's actually a good thing we're doing this because if we just did the old
Starting point is 00:29:27 five event contest, I'm looking down the line and I'm like, so Jake beats me. Alan probably beats me. Tim probably beats me. Fucking Brad. Tim beats us giving up 100 pounds. Thanks for showing up to town. Everyone's like, man, them
Starting point is 00:29:43 Massenamis guys are strong. Until we saw them next to literally anyone else. That's a good-looking set of teams there, though. I think we got ourselves a strongman showdown. It's going to happen. It's going to get serious. I'm all about that red team action. So are you going to wear a red shirt then?
Starting point is 00:30:12 I might do blue just to throw it off. Like, oh, what's he doing? So let's move on to some other news in Strongman. Well, first off. So if you're not into the Strongman showdown this first 30 minutes, probably you didn't care for it. Yeah, you should skip that first 30 minutes we just did. Yeah, 30 minutes we just did if you don't care about local Strongman competitions. Now, first off, I'm going to preface this. Instagram started doing some things.
Starting point is 00:30:35 Yeah, I think we need to talk about this a little bit here. The first thing they started doing was a while back was Instagram TV, which I kept my eye on. It's not gone away. I'm not saying it's not ever going to work out. Have you guys been using Instagram TV at all? Certainly not. I've never eye on. Yeah. It's not gone away. No. I'm not saying it's not ever going to work out. Have you guys been using Instagram TV at all? Certainly not. I've never clicked on it once. I've clicked on it twice.
Starting point is 00:30:51 I only accidentally. It like tricks me into clicking. Well, it's always read. It's by the stories. Yeah. Well, it's by your DM thing. And it's always read. So you always look at it.
Starting point is 00:31:01 But then you go there and it's kind of, I don't know. And my thing is it's vertical video which is a vertical video if you're going to kind of like sit and watch a video for a while i want vertical videos kind of limiting keep it short term with the vertical video yeah and then the lit the little bit that i looked at it from what i could tell is just people putting videos they've already done somewhere else on now Now, I looked at it like this as something where, you know, we, let's just say, you know, one of the other things that I'm a part of, we have a significant amount of followers on Instagram and it's probably like three or four times what we have on YouTube.
Starting point is 00:31:37 Yeah. So it's an opportunity to basically port all your YouTube content and it's basically, you could just host it all there forever. So it's not, it's not, it's evergreen so it's not short-term like your stories yep so it is a good way to just have all of your content out in front of your whole audience but fucking I don't use it nobody uses it that seems like the main purpose for it to me it's almost more kind of promotional stuff and then so if you think about it though if you're if you're instagram maybe you ride it out you try to get more people using it so that at some point instagram becomes the place that it was it's no different they tried doing what snapchat did with the stories
Starting point is 00:32:15 and frankly instagram stories in the beginning i was like what the fuck now how much is this shit but now i don't use snapchat hardly at all and instagram stories is pretty much at least for me has taken the place of it for the most part now um so are they trying to do that maybe with a platform like youtube do it a little bit different i think seems like i think that's kind of what they want to be your one-stop shop for everything they want to be your facebook you know so i think it's not going to go away anytime soon. No, I think they'll keep going with it as long as they can. They started doing other things within the stories in which you can post, ask me a question. Or you could actually ask questions to the people seeing your stories and they can answer them.
Starting point is 00:33:00 But most people have just been putting, ask me a question. Which first this feature, what did you guys think of it? before we go into any details and specifics here what did you think of it for the most part the day it went live what did you think i didn't even know what it was until i saw people complaining about it like like the first exposure to much of it yeah it was like it was it was just like for the first time in everyone's life they were talking you could ask me whatever you want it's like whoa come on like yeah and then and then it turned into like some real thirsty attention seeking yeah well like my biggest thing is it seemed like everyone kind of thought they were like a comedian for the day like how tall are you tall enough it's like okay you're not even funny
Starting point is 00:33:39 like this is just like yeah but some really this is actually is actually probably the only bit that I found interesting, right? This was the most interesting one I found by far. So this was Hafthor, if you don't know who he is. I don't know. Just turn the fucking podcast off. But he had to ask me a question. There was actually a lot of pretty interesting questions that he got asked. And I screenshotted the ones with his answers.
Starting point is 00:34:04 Now, should we go through all of them or one at a time? Yeah, go through one. of pretty interesting questions that he got asked and i screenshotted the ones with his answers now should we go through all of them or one at one at a time yeah go through well let's talk about there's going to be some common threads that get woven through this and i haven't seen i haven't seen any you're gonna like this so when do you think you'll break the 500 or 501 kilogram mark on deadlifts without a suit he says 500 kilo deadlift in a suit is cheating i'll do it without a suit if i'm paid enough now i like eddie hall shot of that yeah i really like the sounds of that though because it's like no no no fuck you i'll do it my way and just pay me and i'll make it i mean if he can stay healthy for a little bit that seems like that's totally doable next one ever plan on hitting
Starting point is 00:34:43 a power lifting meeting there's no money in it if i'm paid for my hard work then i'll go for the biggest total ever which i like that attitude also i'm also two questions in i'm noticing a money theme yeah well and he's right which he does yeah he is a professional like this is this is how he makes his living like he's not making his living selling programs someone needs to put up the money for powerlifting and that's my thing you want to get attention to the sport? put up $100,000
Starting point is 00:35:12 I was talking we were talking about this and I think what would be really cool whether it's the US Open that might turn into too much of a spectacle there but that could also feed into what they need but some event needs to put up alright Thor if you're going to show up and do a meet. Something like record breaker.
Starting point is 00:35:29 Yeah, yeah. We're going to – we'll pay you, let's just say, $20,000 to show up. If you can – for every like record you break in each division, we'll say there's $5,000, $10,000 on the line. And if you break an all-time total record, like let's say if you break 2,500, then there's this huge prize. So he's not just like phoning it in or so maybe he doesn't like just show up and break a deadlift record and do nothing else. I think that would be a really fun event to watch.
Starting point is 00:35:54 Fuck yeah, it'd be great. The next one. Do you think your static strength will continue to increase year by year? He says, I'm 29 years old. I have at least five good years to get stronger every year. And that's interesting that he mentions that again, going forward. I want to find that one next, I think. So then he says, do you see yourself lifting when you're older? Will you retire?
Starting point is 00:36:16 And he says, it depends on what you call old. I'm 29 today. I will most likely give strong man another five years as long as I enjoy it. And after that, I'll focus more on my business. give strongman another five years as long as i enjoy it and after that i'll focus more on my business so you've got he does he lays this out i think one more time it's five more years that's it which also means he's not gunning for seven world's strongest man titles or anything like that like it's it's five years of doing the best you can do six would be the magic number for the uh most yeah is that what it is marius has five okay uh the next one what is your heaviest heaviest body weight ever and were you training better at that weight and he said 205 kilos definitely not now i think that was the arnold 410 last so that'd be like
Starting point is 00:36:56 450 pounds right i think that was the arnold last year they said he was about 450 yeah which is crazy he's lighter this year but still looked fucking enormous and now this one would you ever consider wrestling and he said hmm no now I think that means like a decisive no that's the impression I got
Starting point is 00:37:16 I can't believe he wouldn't he's definitely put out there that his value is in getting paid for what he's doing and he could show up and instantly every kid would be like He's definitely put out there that his value is in getting paid for what he's doing. And he would get paid in there. He could show up and instantly every kid would be like, he's the best wrestler. Every kid would want a poster of him. I honestly believe that if he came into wrestling.
Starting point is 00:37:35 The problem is I don't know how he'd be with the mic. See that? He's good when we got him talking. But he's not much of an in-person shit talker. And they could also make his character be kind of like this strong mystery figure. Like that you just mostly stare at people. That's not a whole lot different than what Kane did four years ago. It's not that he's a bad speaker.
Starting point is 00:37:57 There's a language barrier, so there's a little bit of a delay sometimes. And so also add to that an accent that's not like a you know you could be like a british villain accent but like an icelandic accent is a little bit uh i don't want to put this wrong like sloppier yeah so it almost doesn't it just doesn't come out as like as precise as you would want because he's got to be a bad guy when he comes in right away because you have to be just a world ender you You know. Yeah. Right. But anyway, that's a lot of hoping for me. I really, really want him.
Starting point is 00:38:28 I don't believe that that's off the table for him. I don't think so. Plus like, okay, so five more years of this. Why couldn't he do the Brock Lesnar thing where he throws some guys around
Starting point is 00:38:37 three times a year, shows up to WrestleMania, wins, is the heavyweight champ of the world for the rest of the fucking year, shows up to WrestleMania again, like just makes appearance and beats up fucking nobody's right time to time he doesn't have to be on the full grind of no wrestling for five nights a week
Starting point is 00:38:54 whatever it is so that was that one and i think i had one more i have one more to add to that too depending on what you today oh this one is somebody else this was on uh well can we stay on the thor topic here quick this is sort of on the is it force is it a thor question it is a thor question you do that i'll go i want to after we're done answering questions from thor i have one about and i want to hear your guys's guess on this he's someone says how much do you spend on food i don't know if you saw this answer leave it it up to Tanner. So he gives a per month answer for how much he spends on food. I wouldn't even know how to figure that. Well, just probably whatever you spend times like two, right?
Starting point is 00:39:35 I'll say $2,000. He says he spends about $3,000 a month on food. And now to his defense, one, $2,000 is a high number. In his defense, one, he lives in Iceland where everything is expensive. Two, he's also eating... Any ground meat he's eating is fucking bison or fucking ground steak.
Starting point is 00:39:56 And he's also just eating steak. So like... I don't know if you know this, but Iceland is not known for its fucking cattle. So everything is coming in. I just think he's spending $100 a day. Yeah, that's $100 a day. know this but iceland is not known for its fucking cattle so everything is coming in just think 36 000 a hundred dollars a day yeah yeah that's a hundred dollars a day on food yeah i mean that's a lot of because i was the where i came to 2000 i was thinking well 50
Starting point is 00:40:15 dollars a day would probably be a pretty good amount and then you gotta figure you know if he's eating if he's eating a big steak or a ground steak or and oh and also i don't know if you see it when they shop but it's all, it's the grass fed fucking everything. The most expensive. So you're looking at like 40 bucks a serving. That's like one of his biggest investments of, for the, in order for,
Starting point is 00:40:33 to get a return for what he does. Yeah. That's the most. Well, besides, besides his creatine supplements, that's probably supplements. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:40:40 I mean, yeah. No one asked him how much he spends on supplements. I'm sure supplements are the majority of why he's like that. That's the other. His chemist. Yeah. No, that's, in Europe, that's what they call the pharmacist.
Starting point is 00:40:55 They have colds and stuff. They seriously do call it chemist? Apparently, that's what people were saying when I was over there. I thought that was part of what came through the vertical diet. Yeah, right? Was that your last Thor one? That was my last Thor one. All right, so now this one was through,
Starting point is 00:41:13 I don't want to convolute the source, but it was basically starting strongman posted, somebody asked the question, who's the most underrated strongman? I asked Cale that question. And he said, people keep referring to Martins Lixus as a dark horse, but he podiums in almost every show he enters. Now, this was Martins screenshotting that.
Starting point is 00:41:33 And he said, I've heard this one a few times. It may have been true in the past, but I'm not in this to play around. I will be standing on top of the mountain. And I don't believe. Is there like a double entendre there? Saying you're going to be on top of the mountain and i don't uh believe they're like a double entendre they're saying you're going to be on top of the mountain oh yeah like that only goes the one like the fucking like you know he's not just climbing the highest peak he's no i mean i think he's like i am going to beat this fucking guy and i would like to start to see some shit talk. Yeah. I think the one problem for him is Matthias Kielkowski.
Starting point is 00:42:07 Like, because you can't, like, even if you're besting Thor on something, watch out for him. And those two make me so happy that they're there now. Because had they not taken the turn that they've taken the last two years, the gap would be. Oh, it would be huge. Like, who do you have to look forward to if they weren't there well it's just brian shaw and i don't know if he can hang on to at this point uh stan efferding was on i don't remember what podcast he was on
Starting point is 00:42:34 it was a really good interview and it's i'm gonna fucking i don't remember who it was but anyway he was talking about brian shaw kind of this past year uh, the Arnold and Worlds, and basically he was really injured. I think he was sick at some point in there, and he said, though, that right now Brian Shaw and his training at the moment, that he is as healthy and stronger than he has ever been. He is 100%. If there's no age thing catching up to him, he just literally was just injured. My concern, though, is like if that's not going to –
Starting point is 00:43:08 Does that become more frequent? Right. Probably. Like even if he – I mean, of course he doesn't want it to. And like I'm not saying he's doing anything wrong for that to happen, but other than just being older. But if he can go – it kind of makes it sound like if he can go through this training cycle, show up at the Arnold without getting hurt between now and then,
Starting point is 00:43:24 can go through this training cycle show up at the Arnold without getting hurt between now and then that it will be as well equipped to win as a Brian Shaw we've ever seen and I wouldn't doubt that and I wouldn't doubt that either and you know one of the things I said is his nutrition was a fucking mess until he only started working with Stan like a month before the Arnold this year so I think uh I think that has you know it's quite a bit to do with it too, with him cleaning it up. Yeah. Or Stan's just blowing smoke up our ass. Why do we believe Stan so much? Just hyping his own diet system even more.
Starting point is 00:43:51 I don't really do. I don't know. Yeah. I just really do. But yeah, I thought that was pretty interesting. I'm hoping that was a purposeful shot he called there. Uh-huh. Because I like a little of
Starting point is 00:44:05 that yeah even the eddie hall it had to be i mean you wouldn't be in that position and not know what you're saying yeah like even the eddie hall robert over stuff like even though they're they're friendly the actual trash talk back and forth i just i really enjoy yeah yeah so i thought that was pretty cool yeah the trick they're for our front you know you can tell they're kind of buddies too but some of the stuff they say even if your buddy says that it's gonna piss you like yeah yeah it only be called like a fat lazy piece of shit bastard so many times like all right dude like that's not that funny to me that's actually pissing me off you know um it's like when eddie hall talks like that about brian shaw too you know b Brian's a little bit like, yeah, I don't like that.
Starting point is 00:44:48 He's like, I don't. Don't do that. Well, because at least like Robert Oberst talks shit. Yeah, right. Whereas like Brian Shaw doesn't. Just has to smile and take it. So he like just has to take it. Which I think is like what Eddie loves.
Starting point is 00:45:03 That he knows it's just like a one-way street. And he knows he's got to play Mr. Rogers. Yeah. We've got, what do we have left here? We've got about 15 minutes left on the clock. We did have our most viral video of all time. Yes.
Starting point is 00:45:22 Really? It was Santa Squats. Oh yeah, what the hell. 130,000 views on that video. I remember I turned to Leah and said, can you believe this video has 25,000 views?
Starting point is 00:45:38 And then it got five times more than that. Now my favorite thing, and I didn't think about this before we sent him this shirt, was like, nobody's going to see the logo. Not on his beard. No, I know. His beard covers the entire shirt.
Starting point is 00:45:50 That was the downer. This is by far the most popular video we've ever had, and he's wearing our most popular shirt, but you just can't see the shirt without being able to see the Lyft logo. You can see it a little bit. It does come up. But without seeing the Lyft letters. You can see it a little bit. It does come up. But without seeing the Lyft letters. It doesn't convert.
Starting point is 00:46:06 Yeah. Yeah. Now, it is interesting, though. What I don't get is he has plenty of videos and Lyfts that are probably actually more impressive than that one. You know, just because he's strong as fuck. It's just odd. Why did that video do it? That video on his page had 3,000 views.
Starting point is 00:46:29 Is it just the Mastodonics effect? It's just our incredibly diverse audience. It's the hashtag Mastodonics effect. What this means is if you are a super famous strong person, you should post videos of yourself lifting in our shirts. You can help make your wildest dreams come true. It will make you famous. But he does have famous. He does periodically have videos that go viral.
Starting point is 00:46:49 Oh yeah. Because of his, I also like when it gets that big, just reading the comments again. I like it, but I also like just half squat. It's like, well,
Starting point is 00:46:59 they might be a hair. Like they might not be, they might not be competition depth. He's a strong man. Competitor. Well, and on top of that, they're, they're no no it's like oh that's sky it's like so it's borderline you know it's yeah at the absolute worst it's borderline yeah like it they're legit squats it's a training squat yeah but that's because it's getting to people that don't know anything that don't power and it's so funny you click on it and like the people like i mean they're lifting weights like 150 pound overhead press or something yeah it's like oh
Starting point is 00:47:30 yeah you don't know what you're talking about well listen i i did have to look back at the person who called him out for his squat depth one first off don't even think even lifts because i mean honestly if you lift and don't post it on the internet, does it happen? But that's the guy. So I really don't think. Oh, yeah. I guess I don't take lifting criticism from someone whose neck is the size of my fucking wrist.
Starting point is 00:47:58 And I talked. Santa messaged me about some of those comments. What have you done to me? No, he laughed. He's got to be used to it. Yeah And he said, what have you done to me? No, he said, he laughed. He said, you know, I get, yeah, he's like, I'm used to this. And it's, he, he even knew it too. He's like, it's always people that just have no, that can't, that don't lift, that can't lift that there. And I talked to him about that a little bit.
Starting point is 00:48:17 Yeah. There is nobody that's say worked up even to, uh, be able to squat 400 pounds that makes comments like that to people because if you know what it takes to squat yeah like if you've actually squatted 400 pounds before you get it yeah you especially if you well my thing is if you put in the work yeah in the gym with consistency you mean what it means is you've done a fuck ton of reps and if you do a fuck ton of reps some of them you go too high some you go too low some you get pitched back some you get stapled forward and you even see that between some you shift left some you shift right it's fucking like you're moving right like and i you know then like i'm not gonna go in and
Starting point is 00:48:54 squat just a little bit higher and then do 585 for eight reps be like oh this makes it so easy if i just cut it a couple inches high here i am throw 200 on. Right. It really doesn't make that much of a difference. What it does, though, is it makes me really fucking furious. And I'm like, you're so much better at it than I am, Tanner, because I am just ill-equipped to that shit. It makes me so fucking mad. I tried selling a fucking living room set on fucking Facebook the other day, and it was already sold, And some lady messages me like,
Starting point is 00:49:26 she's like, well, what about that big, I have this big lamp that comes over and hangs over all this shit. You know, it was nice. It's really expensive thing. Weighs fucking 200 pounds.
Starting point is 00:49:34 It was like 400 bucks when we got it. It was really nice. Um, if you took it to the scrapyard, there's like $200 worth of brass. you know? Yeah. And I was like,
Starting point is 00:49:43 so she messaged me like, would you, would you maybe just want to sell the lamp and i said uh well um i do have someone who's gonna come pick up the whole furniture set i said i'll tell you what i'll if you want to buy the lamp for a hundred dollars i'll knock the lamp is kind of off the rest of the set yeah it's not matched so if they don't want the lamp i'll give them a hundred dollars off and you can take the lamp and then the response is which all seems like a reasonable approach you're asking the living room set is much more money than that like it seems like that's right the response is i can get that lamp for
Starting point is 00:50:12 a hundred dollars on amazon and i'm like okay first you can't you saw something that looks kind of like that on amazon yeah not here uh and you also fucking can't. Yeah. Which is fine. What about just saying, okay, I'm not interested. Or just saying nothing. Yeah. Or don't fucking ask me to begin with. Because what do you think I'm going to sell that for? Like $30?
Starting point is 00:50:35 Yeah. Now that I've been insulted, I'll give in. So what I, of course, I was like, all right, I'm not going to respond. And then I'm like, no, no, fuck this person. And so I just was like, right i'm not gonna respond and then i'm like no no fuck this person and so i just was like well that lamp was fucking four hundred dollars new um and i'm pretty sure it's worth about two hundred dollars if you take it to the scrapyard so uh whatever yeah i got some fucking stupid long diatribe about well i get the same thing i don't know what you think and i legitimately like sat up in bed mad last night i sat there my fucking ears were ringing and i looked at this person's profile and i'm like pretty sure i fucking recognize that neighborhood
Starting point is 00:51:11 so fucking mad so i couldn't handle having like if i had 200 000 followers and all of the shit that would come down from like one fucking partially high squad i would lose my mind yeah just the angry mob after you all the time jesus i i had a guy who's like a he's a friend of mine he's well-meaning but i i had a squat video like months ago and he was like he was like i don't know that first he was serious he texted me though didn't put it on the deal he's like i don't know bro that first let rep look pretty high first off keep it to yourself second Second, it wasn't. So I go back in and I fucking take the original video. Screenshot. And I screenshot the first rep.
Starting point is 00:51:49 And then I screenshot the second rep and the third and the fourth. And they're all fucking identical. Yeah. And then I fucking drew a line from the top of the knee to the hip crease. Yeah. And then I fucking sent every single one to him one at a time. I waited about five minutes. Second rep.
Starting point is 00:52:03 Third rep. And I said said whenever you're done squatting 135 pounds you can come fucking talk to me about depth but that's the way that i handle it but what does it even matter what even if it was like if your first rep was a little high the problem the problem with me it's not even the fact that they're compelled to to call you out like that the problem is my fragile sensibilities that I can't fucking stomach any fucking criticism when it's even not rational. So that's why Tanner manages the Mastodon.
Starting point is 00:52:32 Because otherwise it'd be this sad, angry, defensive fucking tone all the time. I'm like a Santa squatting video though. The nice thing was there was so many people though that others... Everyone else. I like it when people start to police the comments themselves. Yeah, right, right.
Starting point is 00:52:45 So do you ever find out – like I would just assume if I was in a video that got shown 120,000 times that I would probably pick up a decent amount of followers out of it. Do you know? Did he – like did he see a boost from something like that? That's a good question. I'm really not sure. You get 120,000 – like with your name tagged in the video and everything. Every day you get 120,000, like with your name tagged in the video and everything. I know he was in the teens of thousands before, and I'm sure he is still.
Starting point is 00:53:11 So it'd be too hard at this point. I can't tell. But it wouldn't have been significant because I thought he was at about 16,000 or 17,000, and he's at 17.3. But a few hundred is significant at that, you know, I guess. So that easily could have happened, but I don't know for sure. Yeah. I guess you just never know what people are going to latch on to and what
Starting point is 00:53:33 Instagram is going to decide to let. Well, that's the biggest thing, you know, that that's popping up in people's, uh, discover. Actually,
Starting point is 00:53:38 that is where I liked it. And then I started scrolling down to the discover page and it was there again. Yeah. Uh, but that likefolded our best up to this point, almost, in views on a video. Which is not to say that that's not a sweet lift, but it is just odd that that's got way more than Thor's 1,000-pound death. Right. I mean, it's three times more popular than that. Isn't that crazy?
Starting point is 00:54:04 thousand pound debt right i mean it's got it's three times more popular isn't that crazy yeah it's just it's so weird that what it takes to do that is just like i i guess i just do you write a formula yeah you know uh speaking of people lifting heavy things in massonomic shirts did you see uh joe sullivan yeah squat 835 beltless uh with dave tate spotting him and i wonder if they were talking about the lift shirt together, like in between sets. You have to assume there's a little... If Dave was like, hey, what's that shirt? Where do you get that? And Dave would be like,
Starting point is 00:54:32 those fucking ass clowns have way too many hashtags. But they have bought several benches from us, so... Yeah, okay, I guess I... Whatever. I don't like anything. Yeah, fucking Joe's been killing it lately, whatever. I don't like anything. Yeah. Fucking Joe's been killing it lately too. Yes.
Starting point is 00:54:49 He is. He's a strong guy. Well, did we have some reviews Tanner before we wrap her up? Actually, I do think, I know we have at least one that I haven't read on the podcast. So,
Starting point is 00:54:59 and I haven't checked for a while, so maybe there's 70, 60 more. I could get into that. We got, Oh geez, you guys, I don't know if you know this, but we got a new order came in. Holy. What do we got here? There is a YouTube comment that I got to read, too, that made me laugh.
Starting point is 00:55:17 I'm just thinking of it right now. I always like how these go. No, this is a good one. This is a good one. Either way, I always like how these go. Like, the YouTube comments are always really, to me, I would just describe them as surprising. Yeah. They're either like surprisingly dumb or like surprising, like insightful.
Starting point is 00:55:32 Yeah. It's not very often that it's just like. Yeah. So as I read this, keep in the context of our, do you know how the podcast opens in the video format? Yep. Yep. Yep.
Starting point is 00:55:43 With, we interview Kaz and? Yep. Yep. Yep. With, uh, we interview Kaz and those guys. And so this last episode was all about our lift shorts and that, that debacle. Yeah. The economics. So this is from Roy Dykens. He says, one thing I can always count on massonomics for is letting me know how to get
Starting point is 00:56:04 lift shorts, how to upkeep my lift shorts and how to use my lift shorts. I think you make lift shorts better than they are in real life sometimes. We do our best. That is a, if you can't tell, that's a play on what Kaz says. Yeah. He has it right here, actually. Oh, that's really funny.
Starting point is 00:56:23 So people are picking up on that kaz thing pretty good like how to how to get it how to get your strength how to use your strength and all of that i don't know i'm sure we've told this before but all of that comes from me saying to kaz that he's like so what do you guys do he's like basically who the fuck are you yeah and the answer and they're like so what do you do i was like oh we got a podcast and you had like no time so it's like oh you know it's about like getting oh, we've got a podcast. And he had, like, no time. So he's like, oh, you know, it's about, like, getting strong, staying strong, teaching people how to use their strength. And he's like, didn't say anything.
Starting point is 00:56:50 And then at the end of the interview, he just rolls out this perfect fucking leader footage. It's almost like he wanted you to be at the end like, did I do it right, guys? Yeah. Like, you nailed it, Bill. Thanks for what you do with your podcast and all the rest. You're doing a great job. Hope everybody keeps tuning in. You get a lot of good info, a lot of insights. Does it go? Yeah, that's good. So people that only listen to audio, you don't hear that every week,
Starting point is 00:57:24 but people that watch the video, that's on there. So, I mean, it's been proven the most important people in the industry have given unanimous praise. How to use your strength. How to clean your lift shorts. How to buy your lift shorts. How do you lift in your lift shorts. So the first thought. The economics behind your lift shorts.
Starting point is 00:57:43 This is from Britt2060. Title title amazeballs now just amazing five out of five stars the most fun i can have in a car with my clothes on i have enjoyed every episode so far i'm currently going through all the old ones and fear the day that i catch up and have to wait for the new podcast to come out that's that's the kind of listener we want to uh yeah the one who has fun in cars without clothes yeah i almost feel bad like going back to the old ones i i think that our skills have just elevated so much that we're just uh fractions of what we are now but yeah they're i've got at least one more to read and this one i'm not sure if i've ever read i haven't this would be new too uh most entertaining strength podcast from johnson benj five out of five stars these guys keep me laughing during the podcast but never get too off topic i'm not sure if that's true
Starting point is 00:58:36 uh out there we'll go with it that person's never heard this podcast good sound quality and have voices for podcasting maybe faces too correct these guys uh don't deep dive into super informative content i.e barbell medicine tsa cass but keep it light-hearted a great easy listen and a good way to keep up with the current state of power lifting i like the way how he like all the backhanded compliments it's like you know the sound quality is really good because they're fucking ugly and and also it's easy to listen to because they're idiots because they're fucking really stupid they don't speak over a third grade level so they don't use lots of big fucking words long sentences hey someone's got it someone's got to fill that spot, you know.
Starting point is 00:59:27 That's right. Might as well be us. Last one here is from... Oh, another one? A triple? Another one. Somebody says that, right? Yes.
Starting point is 00:59:37 Who is it? A certain DJ on the radio. I know, I've heard it before. This is from Mamus5 five and it's titled 57 reasons why and what what's that mean i don't get the reference i think there was a there i i hear i haven't seen it there's a some a number and reasons why documentary on netflix is it is it 13 reasons yeah i've watched that that's about like. So maybe that's what it is. That's my only guess is that that's a reference to that.
Starting point is 01:00:08 Maybe it's like that Lady Gaga song, giving you another reason. That's it. We like to model all of our reviews. Next Lady Gaga inspired review gets a prize. 57 Reasons Why. Always wash these episodes down by drowning them in ketchup. Chicago-inspired review gets a prize. 57 reasons why. Always wash these episodes down by drowning them in ketchup. It's pretty gangster.
Starting point is 01:00:33 What was the name on that one? Mom Moose 5. What the fuck? Yeah, I'm the ketchup guy. We brought it up on the podcast. Yeah, we have recently, so I assume that's a reference to that. Probably. Yeah, you told us you go through a bottle a week.
Starting point is 01:00:50 Okay, that was pretty recent. I'm not talking a little bottle. These are big bottles. These are the jugs. So that's three good reviews in the course of the last week here. I appreciate those reviews. Yeah, that's nice. Thanks for everyone listening.
Starting point is 01:01:04 Since my ketchup fan brought this up, fun fact uh you know how if you go to the bulk section at the grocery store they sell like the actual like it's a tub of ketchup that then they sell the attachment you can put the yeah so i thought well economically that's the best way to do it right i did that this not recently but probably 10, 12 years ago. I was like, I'm going to start doing this. I saved money. I was very poor at the time. So I did that, except I realized immediately that it's super inconvenient because I use so much ketchup that it's not like I just put it all on my plate
Starting point is 01:01:38 and then go sit in the living room. Oh, you want it with you. Put a little on each bite. Do a little dip in, put a little on a little dip in a little long do a little dip in a few bites add a little more and it doesn't work when you have this big fucking ketchup pump that weighs 10 pounds you gotta set it down you know it's like it's like going to fucking mcdonald's and having to walk up to the ketchup pump every yeah yeah those uh little ketchup packets probably aren't very handy for you
Starting point is 01:02:05 absolutely criminal 15 minutes to prep my meal here one for each bite about three mornings a week i go to the uh local grocery store and they have like a short order cook there who she is an absolute fucking american treasure yeah and. And you go there, and she makes the best everything, basically. But I'll get like an omelet with six eggs, and then like a big order of hash browns, and I put ketchup on my fucking omelets, so fuck off if you have a problem with that. I don't think that's crazy.
Starting point is 01:02:38 I get it, but I'm not an egg and ketchup guy. But I'll get, and I'm not joking, probably like 20 or 25 of the ketchup packets to do it. I take a big Tyler handful and put it in my to-go box. And you just grab them like this over the top of your... Just squeeze them all. It's like juicing an orange. And actually, the last few times it's gotten so inconvenient opening and putting the packets on for the little amount that...
Starting point is 01:03:03 You just set the packets on. Just eat it all. Just eat it all. So what I do now is I just go and I have a giant jug of ketchup that I bought now at that same grocery store at the gym which is where I eat. So there's
Starting point is 01:03:18 like FitAid and Kill Cliff and other recovery drinks and just a tub of ketchup for Tyler's breakfast every morning. So that's how much I hate the packets.
