Starting point is 00:02:03 If you are after any, not an official sponsor of the podcast but if you're but the the number one sponsor in our hearts yes uh what do we say episode 194 we're so we're getting a month and a half out from the big 200 and boy do we have things planned for 200 i'm like a month and a half what are you talking about not six yeah that's six weeks yeah that seems so far away yeah that six episodes is a month and a half no it's but it'll be here before you know it it'll be just that's still pre-arnold that is pre-arnold we'll hit 200 if we still have a podcast by then how many booths do you think at the arnold have 200 podcasts under the belt oh we're in rare air to say the least.
Starting point is 00:02:45 I think we're in very rare air. Probably us and I suppose Mark Bell and... Maybe one or two other people, maybe. Yeah, I don't know. Yeah, that'd be about it. That's a prestigious club that we're in. That's how we roll. Yeah, we are starting to kind of get things geared up slowly for the Arnold.
Starting point is 00:03:04 It's getting closer. It's starting to appear on the things geared up slowly for the arnold it's it's getting closer it's starting to appear on the radar they're making us register for things we have a we're making us give them more money they do like their money they're there's not dissimilar to us no doubt about that uh we do have a hotel we do have room and board now already yeah already and it was almost too late even yeah you can't get that soon enough that's for sure so that's a good note to anyone that is considering going to the arnold this year yeah don't sleep look look into that now yeah what else we got going on this week uh first we're gonna have a beverage quick tanner oh a beverage
Starting point is 00:03:41 we're just gonna drink it we're not gonna play the game here tanner because this is a this is A beverage. We're just going to drink it. We're not going to play the game here, Tanner, because this is a flavor. I can see already it's a work beer. It is a work beer. It is a flavor we've had a lot, but I'm parched, man. Yeah. People don't realize all the pre-recording activities that take place here. We've got to always talk shop.
Starting point is 00:04:02 I got quite thirsty discussing all the Masonomics business dealings Lamone that's good our podcast days are also always our business meeting days our one hour of strategic planning for the month
Starting point is 00:04:20 that's not in a text message or in a brief passing person right imagine if we had enough time to actually say it's almost like we have a families and jobs and stuff like that as much as i would love to just go a hundred percent you know i think if even if we just had one eight hour day where we didn't have to do anything else we could go one eight hour day would be amazing wow massanomics would take else. Oh, one eight-hour day would be amazing. Masonomics would take over the world with one eight-hour day. One eight-hour day, like every three months or something like that.
Starting point is 00:04:56 But that one hour we get for you guys, you know, this is our most time. I mean, we put 110% into this, though. We do. Without a doubt. It's a short duration, but that way we can go 110% intensity for the shorter duration. Yep. We don't hold anything back. It is our high-intensity interval training. This is the high-intensity part.
Starting point is 00:05:13 The interval is the rest of the week. Where you have to wait. There's one hour on and a few hundred hours off, however that works out. Yep, pretty much. Good LaCroix, though always the freshest yeah uh so Tanner the the the gym had a bit of an upgrade this week we did I think it even it may have even gone against this upgrade may be breaking one of the founding principles of the gym it does kind of I would say it kind of passes on a loophole it's a loophole I think I think it did you found a loophole but do you a loophole. I think it did.
Starting point is 00:05:46 You found a loophole. But do you want to explain to people what happened in the gym? And it is. That's a good point that you brought up. I really do think, you know, when the gym started, there was probably a list of like 10 do's and don'ts. And really, this was a don't. at the gym we now have a television which is something that when we started we were kind of going to a place to get away from things like televisions and dicking around
Starting point is 00:06:10 things that don't involve lifting we kind of wanted to go to a place where basically everything did involve lifting getting away from the news that's on behind you as you're squatting i can't imagine being at a gym now with the news playing can you imagine how awful that would be and you know to bring it up
Starting point is 00:06:32 to you oh you know the second how about that trump yeah you know the second like you even turn your eyes someone be like oh they saw it they must be watching and they would come over and talk to you about it i couldn't and and there's a 100% that they're going to be very opinionated on something that you don't agree with. And you're just going to be like, I'll just go with this just for the sake of not having to. Well, and we never lived in the Trump era when we had to be at a gym besides Masonomics. So we never had to experience it. I don't know if I've ever talked about politics with anyone at Masonomics gym ever. I don't think I ever have.
Starting point is 00:07:04 I don't even think I've have no i don't think i've heard anyone talk about i don't i've never actually i don't the only time i ever heard politics come up at the gym i remember it was uh uh nick and ryan anderson they said it was the day after trump won they go well trump won guess we can keep our guns that was it that was the conversation that was the most i ever heard anyone talk about politics at the gym ever. And I am 100% fine with that. I'm pleased with that. That would be an issue if it wasn't the case.
Starting point is 00:07:34 But so we have a television now. It's a 75-inch high-def. 3D. You have to wear goggles to really take it in. What it actually is, it's an old tv that i mean i probably bought it 10 years ago i would say by now and it was in my bedroom for a point in time there is one little line when i was a bachelor yeah there's one little pink line that goes down through the screen vertical line yep what kind of tv is that is that an lcd it's an
Starting point is 00:08:02 old lcd yeah okay um yeah it's a vision i don't know if it's like a 24-inch television or something like that. It's bigger than most computer monitors, I would say. Some. It's bigger than some computer monitors. In this day and age, Tanner, they make computer monitors fairly large. But it's probably bigger than most computer monitors. Probably. It's for sure bigger than your laptop monitors.
Starting point is 00:08:24 Yes, okay, there we go. But it's probably bigger than most computer monitors. Probably. It's for sure bigger than your laptop monitor. Yes. Okay. There we go. And so what we did, this was my plan for setting it up. I actually had this TV sitting around unused and I kind of wanted to get it out of my house, first of all. And I had had this thought before to get like Pumping Iron or West Side vs. the World and get it just on a loop that it continuously replays at the gym. And that's what we have. So you had a spare DVD player, which is what is about in the same category as my TV,
Starting point is 00:08:55 of things that you have no use for and have no value at this point in time, but had a value at Mastodonomics Gym. So I got the TV mounted on the wall. Your brother made a couple funny comments about how it's just like the Michael Scott TV, and it is just like that. It's very similar. Actually, it is a little bigger than Michael Scott's TV, but yes, very similar to that. I got it hung up, and then I couldn't find it.
Starting point is 00:09:20 I had a copy of Pumping Iron at one time, and that's what I wanted, and I couldn't find it. Ross at the gym had a copy of Generation Iron. Okay time. That's what I wanted in there. Couldn't find it. Ross at the gym had a copy of a generation. Okay. I was wondering where that came from. He had, I was like, cause I texted him,
Starting point is 00:09:29 I go, do you have any lifting movies, uh, at home on DVD? Cause I, and I don't want to hook this up to the wifi. And then like, I don't want to hook it up,
Starting point is 00:09:43 put it, I don't want to throw a Roku in it and hook it up. Because then people have options to change around. Yeah. And I don't, I don't want to hook it up, put it, I don't want to throw a Roku in it and hook it up because then people have options to change around. Yeah. And I don't, I don't want it to be cheap. I want it to just be a lifting video. Like the options are it's on or not on. Yes, that is. And that's how I envisioned it.
Starting point is 00:09:56 And that's how it has played out so far. And that's how I want it. And I'm like, Oh, let me cast this. What I'm going to do is right now, the DVD player sitting down where it's, uh, could be messed with. I'm actually going to put that up on a shelf up higher so that it's like out of easy reach yeah for people because i don't want people to like walk in and put it up uh in some yeah i don't know avengers it's the principle of it you know and i think that's good that uh so i've got it we've got a copy of west side versus the world on the way dvd now perfect you know we've got we
Starting point is 00:10:24 had the digital copy and everything but but I wanted the actual DVD copy. So that's what Generation Iron is going to come out and West Side vs. the World is going to go in. And the subtitles are on. And I figured out how to – I had to Google this to, like, can you just make a DVD so it just continually plays? And, like, basically every DVD player has that feature. See, I didn't know that was a thing
Starting point is 00:10:45 even me either and it's like it they said pretty much all of them it makes sense but i didn't know that was an option uh and they said a lot of times for like kids they'll do that where something just plays on a loop i guess i don't know uh and you can actually select just cert you can actually do an ab any scene of any movie oh you, you can. And start, stop. Oh. And just replay that on a loop. Wow. The things physical media can do. Yeah, yeah.
Starting point is 00:11:09 Amazing. So yes, that's what's going now, but we have West Side Versus the World. So that'll be on, and the subtitles are on. The volume's kind of off, and the subtitles are on. Yep. You know, you could turn the volume up, but it's kind of a... That much extra. Yeah, there's lifting music going on in there, so I don't want it for the volume,
Starting point is 00:11:26 but the subtitles are there. So you can, as you're changing or maybe getting your pre-workout drink ready or like just putting your shoes on and messing around before you lift and after, you can catch a couple scenes. It's right next to the lockers. Yeah, right. It's in the locker area. And the lockers are not – it's not a locker room.
Starting point is 00:11:40 The lockers are just like in the spot where you first walk into the gym. Right. So it's like, yeah, while you're putting on your knee sleeves and all that uh you're catching catching the yeah and it's kind of by the bathroom too so if you go to the bathroom it's right there but and quite honestly it's more it's more atmosphere yeah it's just like part of it it's an atmosphere builder i'm not gonna none of them are probably gonna sit there and watch the movie but i do find myself getting like drug into it yeah yeah fairly twice now i've been there twice that it's been on yeah both times like by the time i'm like getting going with my workout i'm like all right i gotta grab my water i go over and it's
Starting point is 00:12:19 kai green and phil heath on stage i'm like i start watching it i'm like i just watched this two days ago why am am I watching this? I know exactly what happens, but that's what I want. Phil keeps standing in front of Kai. The guy separated him like five times. Yeah. And it keeps pulling me back in that. And that's exactly what I want it to be.
Starting point is 00:12:35 Where it's like, ah, I've seen this every day. It's like, I almost, I know what they're going to say next. And I just think that that's a cool, uh,
Starting point is 00:12:42 yeah. Uh, you know, like, uh, Tyler talked about when he went to that gym that dos gym where like in the bathrooms even or the arnold movies i mean it's like rambo would just play on a cycle and i had always thought about that and yeah i think it'd be really cool having west generation iron is fine but pumping iron would be better but ultimately
Starting point is 00:13:01 west side versus the world i think is the perfect one to be having yeah on a loop yeah i like that so that'll generation iron is going to show for about the next week or so okay so we have weekly show yeah and i think west side versus the world i would think we'll we'll run through about the end of january and then maybe after that okay switch to pumping iron for a while perfect so we'll go on a little bit of a rotation yeah and if anyone has any like good lifting video suggestions that are on dvd available on dvd yeah uh let us know because uh you know there's only so many months in a year the other option is we could put all the the video stream massonomics podcast episodes on uh with the subtitles on yeah yeah i don't know i think youtube might do it automatically
Starting point is 00:13:45 I don't know I think there's a button in there someone's watching right now I'm pretty sure the button's in there for subtitles I could be wrong so what your thoughts generally though I do like the TV I'm totally on board with it in this very limited circumstance I think it works perfect
Starting point is 00:14:01 I did have to laugh too so I gave you the DVD player I go down to my locker and there's like a CD in my locker circumstance i think it works perfect i did have to laugh too so i gave you the the dvd player oh yeah i go down to my locker and there's like a cd in my locker i'm like why is there a cd in my locker and i look and i'm reading it like what does it say it doesn't say ah the chapelle show dvd the last dvd i watched which makes perfect sense how long ago do you think of course it's the chapelle show i don't know i don't know i don't know when that was from i know i had that i know i got the dvd when i was in high school so that's over 10 years yeah probably got it like my sophomore
Starting point is 00:14:33 year of high school so that's uh what 12 years ago or something yeah so it's been a long time it's been a very long time i did i and it wasn wasn't there. So that was the first test run to make sure it worked. And it was the shell. I was like, hi. Because Jack and I, my son, we took it over there and got it. We came over here one night and we were setting it up. And I was like, damn it, we forgot a DVD. And I was like, I bet there's a, we were carrying it.
Starting point is 00:14:58 It wasn't even plugged in yet. And I was like, I bet he's got a DVD in here because nobody ever takes out. You don't take out the DVD until you replace it with another DVD. That's the standard procedure. You leave them in there. That's the way it goes. And then you put it in the case of the other one you're taking out. So that way you never know where anything is.
Starting point is 00:15:15 Yeah, you just keep it. It's like a revolving door. Do you have a tote or a drawer or something somewhere full of DVDs still? Or have you gotten rid of all of those? In our storage room here, I have a little tote that has a few DVDs on it. The ones that I have, it's either just a few really cheap ones
Starting point is 00:15:35 or for the most part, I have a few like live concerts on DVD, which those are things that are kind of hard. They're not on Netflix. Some of them you can rent on Amazon if you wanted, that's the for the most part what i have is just things like that or like you know chapelle show right um besides that i don't have the one i do i still have a lot of cds i have a i used to buy music like crazy and i i was never of the attitude that oh yeah i'm gonna buy stuff on itunes I'm going to pay 10 bucks and not get the artwork or anything.
Starting point is 00:16:08 I do Spotify now. Will you keep your CDs forever or someday will you be like, all right. This is what I don't, my wife was like, throw them away. And she has a point, but also some of those, I do have a decent amount
Starting point is 00:16:20 that don't exist on Spotify. They're from either like smaller labels or people that don't have deals with Spotify they're they're from either like smaller labels or people that don't have deals with spotify for whatever reason and it's like those are some songs that i'd like to listen to they're they're in my itunes so like occasionally like i'll fire up our apple music and i'll go into my actual library and listen to them but part of me is like ah if i ever delete those songs off my computer and i don't have them backed up and i don't have the cds they're gone forever you know and i would kind of not like that that is kind of a worst case scenario thing but i don't know that's why i have a hard time getting rid of them so i don't know also you spent 15
Starting point is 00:16:55 bucks a pop on them yeah and i have several hundred of those things yeah oh damn it yeah yeah i've now i'm just gonna throw them in the trash yeah i bought i bought them kind of hard for a while too or just like i just i have a hard time parting with it but that's when i i was looking for if i had a lifting dvd so i had to go through our dvds and it was uh mine and my wife's consolidated collection you know when we got married they all got together and i'm like man and i haven't looked in that for five years i don't know because whatever the i you know and i have like my star wars you know the star wars trilogies and like a bunch of series as a family guy and all this stuff like that and some of those i'm not going to get
Starting point is 00:17:37 rid of my star wars ones and something like that but like some of them i mean we probably have a few hundred dv or something. I'm like, and I was just thinking, how long are we going to keep these until we decide to throw them away? Yeah, and the other thing people don't realize, DVDs are not HD. They're not high def. So you play it on a TV, you realize DVDs don't look that good either. You get used to everything on Hulu, Netflix, whatever. It streams at the bare minimum in high def maybe even 4k depending on you know your connection and your package and all that and then you go to a dvd
Starting point is 00:18:11 and you're like oh yeah this doesn't look that nice actually right right so it's i was always lucky enough that growing up like college and all that i always roommates i always had roommates that had the dvd collection so i never had to worry about it you display i know we've talked about oh yeah it'd be all like it organized your racks and yeah it's like i i had a roommate that's like the centerpiece is like look at all my dvds i had a roommate in college that he would just like once a week go to walmart and find that you know walmart bargain bin yeah and buy just several dvds you know because they'd be anywhere from three to five bucks a piece you know and then at halloween time
Starting point is 00:18:51 it's all right there's the horror ones are on sale so he'd do that and then if there was any big new releases that he wanted a lot of times he'd buy those and so we always had so many movies around right that i didn't have to take part in and now they're so obsolete kind of yeah because it's a very very limited case for ones that are not obsolete right uh but so you do think the the tv fits i think i think it fits the vibe the atmosphere the the aesthetic i think yeah i think what would be cool is if the frame of the tv has a few massanomics stickers on it. It's covered completely covered. So you didn't even know if it was a video TV.
Starting point is 00:19:29 It's just like, so it's literally like almost like a, like almost like, yeah, like almost like they put like a mass and I'm X picture frame. That's a good idea. I do like that idea. I had to throw a couple on there right away.
Starting point is 00:19:40 I think we just got to go all out on it. I like that. It is the official mass and I'm X TV then for anyone that hasn't been in massonomics gym which is everyone listening outside of maybe maybe 10 people yeah how would you like i like to i like to hang a lot of things on the walls yeah there's a there's a lot of pictures there's a lot of photography on the wall a lot of a lot of photos a lot of quite a few banners quite a few flags yeah uh i mean it's just a lot of photography on the wall a lot of a lot of photos a lot of quite a few banners quite a few flags yeah uh i mean it's just a lot of stuff on the walls like before we expanded you know we expanded uh earlier this year and got double the space before we expanded a couple of the walls
Starting point is 00:20:17 were getting so almost like floor to ceiling it was there was just no room left and that would be my dream that like the whole place is just solid. And not even necessarily where there's a great rhyme or reason to it, where it's almost just like people started fitting in. Yeah, yeah, yeah. But I do like that. I do like it, and it's fun. I think when people come, people will come from out of town to visit.
Starting point is 00:20:42 Oh, yeah. If you've never been here before, you could easily, like while you're lifting, it's kind from out of town to visit. Oh, yeah. If you've never been here before, you could easily, like while you're lifting, it's kind of like a little museum visit. Like, oh, okay, here's a strongman photo from when you're, oh, here's some strongman programs. Here's trophies. Oh, here's some like original Masonomics artwork. Right.
Starting point is 00:20:57 And there's newspaper clippings. Newspaper clippings. Oh, here's a wall of every kind of belt that ever exists in almost any size. There's a lot of stuff to look at when you're in there. And I do like that. I know if I went to a gym and they had something like that, I'd be very excited. A great point there.
Starting point is 00:21:14 What is the other newest thing hanging up on the wall there? The new can banner. Yeah. The Crispy Boys can banner. So it's got our five. Well, you're wearing the Crispy Boys shirt as we speak. So there's our five cans. And I think at this point, it's got our five well it's you're wearing the crispy boy shirt as we speak so there's our five cans i think at this point it's probably it's available yeah yep by the time you're listening to this you could be buying it yeah and it's we've bought a few of
Starting point is 00:21:33 them to start yeah it's a cool looking banner it's a big banner too it's um six feet long so it's our longest banner i think yeah yes it is and it features all five cans but it's the full color version and it really pops it does really pop we don't we don't say it about just anything around here it pops it has to really pop for us to say it is really cool though i don't know what it is about it but i said the the day i hung it up a couple people at the gym that own some banners who both of them said that is my favorite banner now that you guys have made. Yep. It gets your attention, that's for sure. It does.
Starting point is 00:22:07 It works good for some of those spots too because it's a little bit shorter and longer. Yeah. For those people that are the real pack rats, you can really maximize your space because they don't make a lot of banners or flags that are two feet tall. Right. And this is that odd two foot by six foot dimension that can fit in those hard to fill spaces. So that was my, that was the most exciting thing when I got our,
Starting point is 00:22:27 we got our first one, almost our trial run version. And I got to decide where to, what do you think of the location of that? I think the location's dead on. Yeah. I think that's a cool spot for it. Yeah. Above the,
Starting point is 00:22:36 above the bar. Yeah. What is the road call there is? Gun rack. Oh, the gun rack. Yeah. We have a couple,
Starting point is 00:22:42 two rogue, three bar horizontal gun racks stacked on top of each other and it's above that have you ever seen wayne's world tanner yeah not for a long time though i think it's in the first one his girlfriend um pretty it's been a while for me too it used to be my favorite movie as a yeah so much younger person his girlfriend like the snake the girl with the uh well the the first one stacy that he doesn't like that keeps wanting to do yeah she's like wayne open your present and he opens it like he doesn't like that keeps wanting to do yeah yeah she's like wayne open your present and he opens it like he doesn't want to and it's a gun rack
Starting point is 00:23:09 and he's like a gun rack he goes i don't own any guns let alone he goes i don't own enough guns let alone a gun to necessitate an entire gun rack and that's what i think i would like to watch when i hear gun racks that's uh that's what i think of yeah I hear gun racks. That's what I think of. Yeah. At gun rack. Yeah. We could use another rogue gun rack though now. Yeah. Kind of the bars to,
Starting point is 00:23:32 I like all the bars to be able to be put away out of the racks and out of the benches and stuff. And right now it can't be done. There's a few too many bars, a few more bars than there are actual bar storage areas right now. More bars, more problems. That's what Biggie Smalls always said. Tanner, there was a Mastanomics sighting in a fun spot.
Starting point is 00:23:54 You know, we always like to see where Mastanomics stuff pops up. Especially people that, to me, the funnest part is when it's people that don't even really know Mastanomics. They just know that somehow we are connected to it so they send it to us and some people really that's all like people that you could even know pretty well from your past they they just kind of would recognize like oh that's something that they know about yeah you know and this one was uh my one of my wives one of my wife's friends was flying home this uh this holiday season yep and she was in the Minneapolis airport.
Starting point is 00:24:27 And there's a statue of Snoopy. And on Snoopy's luggage, there is a Masonomics sticker on this. I think I, unfortunately, I think I might know where that came from. Oh, do you? I think that that came from maybe my mother-in-law. Oh, really? I've seen that picture before. You have seen it? Okay.
Starting point is 00:24:44 So I didn't know if this was a like i should send that to me and i'll verify that i was gonna say this this wouldn't shock me if you had seen this already minneapolis is yeah oh it's a ways away from us but it's a the minneapolis airport is a common destination it's the first stop at any flight for us right that's why i thought all right it has to be someone that knows us or or at least someone that we're familiar with. I'm like 80% sure that I've seen that already, so I'm pretty sure.
Starting point is 00:25:10 And I like it better when it is completely random and we can't connect the dots to it on anything. Not this time, I guess, Tanner. But still cool. Mr. Know-It-All over there. So if you're going to the Minneapolis airport, you see a statue of Snoopy. Look out on his luggage. For a Masonomics sticker. For that Masonomics sticker. Mr. Know-It-All over there. So if you're going to the Minneapolis airport, you see a statue of Snoopy look out on his luggage. For a Masonomics sticker.
Starting point is 00:25:28 For that Masonomics sticker. Yes. That could be a contest we do sometime. We're thinking of different contest ideas. Find the best spot to put a Masonomics sticker. I could see that. I could see it going over well. We're going to talk about another Masonomics contest here in just a minute,

Starting point is 00:28:48 for the life of your memberships. Thank you to our sponsors. Tommy, as you're reading that, I came across a bit of breaking news. Whoa. Breaking. I like me some breaking news. So by the time you're hearing this, it'll be like five days old. But for you and I here here it's breaking news there was then this ties perfectly into our upcoming discussion point here there was
Starting point is 00:29:12 just a recent submission into our our contest and it was a world record jefferson deadlift attempt oh okay do you know who was attempting And this would be the record going forward would be the heaviest Jefferson deadlift of all time. Regardless of weight class or anything? Regardless of weight class. Cather Wollum seems like a likely candidate. That would be my only guess. It was the current world record holder
Starting point is 00:29:42 is Sean Green, the deadlift machine. He attempted to break his own world record. He attempted it again? See, I just assumed he's not going to attempt it again. That's why I didn't say his name. He went for, do you want to know how much he went for? Okay, he has the record now with nine. Is it 905?
Starting point is 00:29:59 That's what I couldn't remember. Was it 905 or 910? I'll tell you. We are the official record holders, so if we don't know, then who does? He's got the 906. 906, of course. Steve Johnson at the 810. Yep.
Starting point is 00:30:10 906, did he go for 915? 931. Wow. Not even chipping the record. And it was unsuccessful. He says, so freaking close. It didn't stay on the back of my leg. It went forward just a slight balance issue.
Starting point is 00:30:27 So he's calling it a balance issue. 931 attempt. I'll be back after the holidays, so I'm going to get myself a week off before I do it again. I don't blame him for that. And you don't want to know what he was wearing as he's going for this 931 Jefferson deadlift. Was it a Jefferson deadlift shirt? None other than the Jefferson deadlift shirt. Ca jefferson deadlift none other than the jefferson deadlift shirt causation and correlation at its finest yeah 931 pounds though wow that is that is that
Starting point is 00:30:52 gets to the level where it's heavier than almost all other deadlifts yeah it gets where the list of deadlifts that are heavier than that are pretty short yeah it's just it's getting to be like it's just really really impressive i don't even know what else to say about it it's just it's getting to be like it's just really really impressive i don't even know what else to say about it it's just it's getting it's a very impressive lift at this point and he he wrote uh he he put they put the 931 in chalk on the on the plates yeah got to because no one else is gonna be he's gonna run out run out a plate room there and have you noticed that his training partner is Brett Favre? I have noticed that.
Starting point is 00:31:30 I noticed that you tagged him in the last one to avoid any confusion. His training partner is Brett Favre. I'm positive of that, though. Kind of wear that same hat and everything. Kind of have the same sort of... It's like Brett Favre went and got a little bit buffer in retirement. He got into powerlifting. He's like, my bodyb went and got a little bit buffer in retirement he got into power lifting yeah he's like my body hasn't been through enough yeah i gotta do something else to keep me not feeling good i gotta keep these wranglers tight so should we talk about our jefferson uh yeah
Starting point is 00:31:57 so that was the seg yeah so we uh segue we are in the midst of a Jefferson contest that has taken off and turned into something that we never expected. An extremely heated Jefferson deadlift contest. Yeah, and not to say that we don't have faith in you guys, but I mean, come on. We're doing a Jefferson deadlift contest, and we said we're going to pick 10 winners. We kind of assumed we're going to have 10 competitors. Yeah. You know, everyone gets a trophy. Why not?
Starting point is 00:32:30 Right. But boy, we just underestimate what people out there will do for a free t-shirt. Yes. And people are going above and beyond. Like we would have never expected. No, it has been insane and i also thought uh you know mad at pioneer always says there's only you know the what he has to not think like is the statement there's only so many things you can do with a belt and he laughs at that now
Starting point is 00:32:58 because someone said that to him you know 10 years ago and they've obviously done so many different things with the belt well my thinking was there's only so many things you can do with the jefferson deadlift and boy do i have egg on my face because still today we're you know we've been in 10 days and that's right up there with the statement of who would want a personal computer and why would anyone want the internet tanner right it's right in there it's it's on par with that but every time i open my phone it's always i the same thing happens every time. I think, well, I've seen about all. I certainly can't think of what else anyone could do.
Starting point is 00:33:30 I can't imagine what they're going to be able to figure out to do. I open my phone. I see what we're tagged in. And I'm like, oh, someone came up with something else that I could never imagine. That's what I keep thinking, too. Like we said we left it open to best. You know, we specifically didn't say heaviest because we wanted people to be creative yeah we kind of take pride in massonomics being uh
Starting point is 00:33:50 different and more creative than most of the fitness accounts out there and just heaviest is kind of boring yeah yeah it's like it already people want it already disqualifies 99.9 percent of people so let's make it best and why why why wouldn't we assume that people are in on every joke and it's been amazing there's been between outdoors indoors uh upside down it's it's like every combination of things that we could think of has been clothed not clothed every band and chain possible like uh tandem deadlifts a lot of beer drinking la croix like there's been a lot lift shorts involved uh anything massonomics any uh massonomics inside joke has been incorporated in one way or another
Starting point is 00:34:38 yeah and yeah i think we're we're getting close to where we've got like 40 to 50 entries so far, too. And we still got a decent amount of time left where people can get. Yeah. And that's we're not going to go in on this too hard. Yeah. Just because by the time it comes to announce the winners, we're going to we're going to really we'll talk more about it. But we could almost have an episode where we just we describe. We probably will.
Starting point is 00:35:00 Yeah. Those people are going to get major shout outs because they have impressed us. There's some really heavy a lot of tandem stuff, a lot of Christmas-themed stuff that we've seen so far, too. Tis the season. A lot of costumes. Yep. I'm just – and even just kind of the skits around it. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:35:15 Like, I thought for sure it would just be, like – Full-blown skits. Yeah, people, like, doing a lot of, like, build-up to it, and even afterwards there's things. It's not about just the lift, and that is exactly what we wanted is like surprise us with something different yeah and i've legitimately had to start keeping a excel spreadsheet to keep track of these in order for us to really give a fair i told you before we started i thought tanner a spreadsheet really we don't need a spreadsheet for everything in life right and yep we completely need that spreadsheet now. Right. There are some good ones. There are a few of these that the first time I watched them and subsequent times since then where I...
Starting point is 00:35:51 Oh, yeah. They're good every time. The last week when we recorded the podcast, just on the way home in my driveway, just parking, I got a notification one and I pulled it out and it made me laugh out loud like nothing that i looked at on my phone for quite a while partly because it was late and like i was just about ready for bed and uh but pulling it out it just made me laugh so loud
Starting point is 00:36:16 and that's all on you guys for doing these amazing submissions yeah i suppose we don't want to say our favorites yet or anything like that. Yeah, we don't want to give anything away here. But I do have a few favorites, but it is going to be hard to pick 10. Yeah, we definitely have some favorites, and I think a lot of them are overlapping,
Starting point is 00:36:34 but there's some that are not, so there will be some debate involved behind the scenes here. Yeah, yeah. I think it'll be easy to pick five. Oh, yeah. I don't agree on five. I'm just throwing out a number, but it'll probably be easy to agree on five. It'll be the next pick five oh yeah agree on five i'm just throwing out a number but it'll be
Starting point is 00:36:45 probably be easy to agree on five it'll be the next the bottom five that is going to take some deliberation and the problem is because they're not the bottom five right yes not the bottom five because they're they're the top they're still yeah they're top 10 i i wouldn't be surprised if we end up with like 60 70 submissions submissions too. Yeah. I think that's very realistic because we have the weekend coming up. Yeah. That's when people seem to hit it hard. I feel kind of bad for some of the people that submitted early and they probably thought, oh, this is pretty good.
Starting point is 00:37:14 You know what I mean? I got a little creative on this one. People keep raising the bar here. And then they're watching these that we've been posting lately and they're like, oh my God, like these people spend like five hours preparing this. It kind of makes me wonder if we left it open for like a month. At the end of the month, what would people be doing? You know?
Starting point is 00:37:30 It does bring up. And you can kind of tell people are feeding off the creativity. It's like forcing other people to step up their game. People are kind of remixing what came before them. The Instagram world is loving it too. The videos are really going over really big. It's not unusual for some of those videos to have 20,000 plus views. Some of them are even more than that.
Starting point is 00:37:50 50,000 views, yeah. And thousands of likes, too. Which for an Instagram video is pretty decent. Right. Oh, yeah, for sure. So good job, guys. I don't really know what else to say besides that. By the time you're hearing this
Starting point is 00:38:05 it's too late to get submitted though well if you're watching this on sunday you know because i guess say the 23rd if you're a very early listener and then you also want to get up either either you want to do one right now or you're going to get up right away monday morning you could technically get one in still but it's going to be tricky very tricky but there is time it is fun i do really like how the weight is not a deciding factor. It's almost not. Some of the funniest ones might not hurt. Some of the best ones have no weight on the bar.
Starting point is 00:38:33 Some of them literally just have a plate on just to have a plate. And even then, it's almost just a prop more than anything. I really like how everyone took that big step, that big first step, one foot over the bar and jumped into this competition. Yep. You know, it would be funny to dub over the Neil Armstrong one small step for man. That just over a video of someone just taking. Footage of people stepping over the bar. Yeah, like a compilation of everyone taking the one step.
Starting point is 00:39:03 Yep. Wouldn't that be kind of funny? It would be pretty good, yeah. You know, it goes one small step for man. And have it going over and over. Yeah, yeah. That would be funny, though. Maybe that's something I can request from people eventually here.
Starting point is 00:39:17 We can ask them to send us a video of them just taking the one step with the one step ahead of the bar. That could almost be like a public awareness campaign of like public service announcement yeah people need to know about i think there's something to that there definitely is there's no doubt about that no doubt about that so that's our contest in a nutshell so far but to be continued for probably next week's episode where we really dig into the, and we're going to,
Starting point is 00:39:49 we're going to let you guys in a little secret here. This is the holidays. That's the secret. Nobody knew being that it's the holidays. Yeah. And Tanner and I both have lives. Our, our,
Starting point is 00:40:02 our recording schedule is going to be messed up. We normally record every Wednesday night. And because of us being out of town for extended times, we're canceling the podcast. At different times, we're shutting it down. No, we're going to have to cram in three podcasts over the course of like three days here. And so the next podcast is not going to have the answers for you
Starting point is 00:40:24 because it's being recorded all out of order. So that podcast is actually going to be a couple of weeks away. You'll know off of Instagram. You'll already know the answers at that point, but it'll still be fun to hear our conversation and how we really came to those answers. Yeah. And we might even the order we record them and we might even change up the order to that doesn't necessarily have to be the way we do it. So but yeah, the next podcast you hear for sure after this one isn't going to have the winners. Right.
Starting point is 00:40:48 Yep, that's right. But we do get a little break from podcasting though, Tanner. That will be actually kind of the nice part. We'll just come back just firing off singers left and right, all refreshed. Right, that is the thing though. Once you get to come back after a few weeks and not doing it, it's like,
Starting point is 00:41:01 get back on that bicycle. We have so much to talk about that we haven't gotten to discuss. Even the last few. We've got a lot of stuff to talk about. The YouTube video last week, I think, went an hour, 39 minutes, and like 40 seconds. And I was like, we were 20 seconds off an hour and 40 minutes. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:41:15 That's a new PR. I don't think we're going to, we're not trying to break that again this week. No. We get later and later all the time, too. Yeah. We do. It's bedtime. Oh, speaking of that uh sleep um i don't know if you want to talk about this now or save it for
Starting point is 00:41:30 but i would just say that i did did do a sleep study in the sleep lab at a hospital and probably i bet we have some listeners that have done this before you know should we just because we're at like the 40 some minute mark should we maybe save that for one of ours this weekend? Yeah, we could save that for, yeah. Just because we got a lot to talk about. Yeah, that's a good idea. And we could talk about that for a little bit. Yeah, yeah, because I actually had a,
Starting point is 00:41:51 you were talking about it a little bit. I had a lot of questions, but I wanted to save it for the podcast. Good idea. Yeah, we'll save that. So listen for like. That's a teaser. Yeah, that is a big teaser. That is a big teaser.
Starting point is 00:42:00 It's about as big of a teaser as we give for anything. Yeah, so look out for that. Do we have anything else right now? I know we have a couple things on our list we want to take care of here, but do you have anything topic-wise you want to get to, Tanner? Nothing hot. Of course, we have to get to overrated, underrated for the week. I've got some steamy topics that we've got to cover here.
Starting point is 00:42:21 Okay. That's the number one on my list for the rest of the episode. We have reviews, too. Did you want to do those now or later? Yeah, no, no. Actually, now would be a good time to cover those Okay. That's the number one on my list for the rest of the episode. We have reviews, too. Did you want to do those now or later? Yeah, no, no. Actually, now would be a good time to cover those reviews. That's a good call. I always forget about the reviews.
Starting point is 00:42:31 I'm glad we wrote that down this time. This first one came from Kyle underscore Pulla. And I guess to be more specific, you can leave us reviews on Apple Podcasts. Preferably five stars. They've all been five stars up to this point. I think the last time I checked, we have like 142 of them. It'd be sweet to see that get up to 200 at some point in time. Because.
Starting point is 00:42:55 Because. Just because. Just pure vanity metrics. No other reason. That's what it's all about. But we all do know that leaving those reviews are a pain in the ass. We've talked about that at length.
Starting point is 00:43:10 It's been well documented by anyone that's ever left one. So that's kind of exciting to know that 142 people have at least taken the time to do it. They've taken hours out of their life to figure it out and be like, oh, password for what? Just trying to write something. Okay. like oh password for what yeah just trying to write something okay so kyle said love the podcast i played d1 football and when that ended uh i was looking for something to continue to compete in your podcast made for an easy transition into the world of strength sports
Starting point is 00:43:41 thanks for what you do with your podcast and all the rest. You're doing a great job. Couldn't quite finish with that laugh. You're doing a great job. I hope everyone keeps tuning in. You get a lot of good info, a lot of insights on how to get strong, how to stay strong, and how to use your strength. What got me right away, because no one says it,
Starting point is 00:44:05 what you're doing with your podcast and and all the rest yeah as soon as i hear and all the rest i immediately just it just gets me right there for anyone that doesn't know if you haven't been a fan long enough i guess you don't know why why that's because that just sounds like a good honest review and the first part of it wasn't and it was it was a great review but what he goes into is the kaz quote well that's not the intro yeah. That's on the intro to the podcast. Yeah, I guess it is the intro to the podcast. But if you listen a lot, you might skip the intro too. That's not unusual.
Starting point is 00:44:31 But it's what Kaz says, and people have taken to repeating this. And Kaz definitely did not know what he was talking about when he left us that glowing review. Well, the story of that is that was our first year at the Arnold, or first or second year. was first first and we got a lot of a lot of cool interviews on camera with a lot of cool strong lifters like people like kaz and uh we get up there i wasn't i don't even think i was there i think it was tyler i was filming it no tyler was the one interviewing him that year and uh tyler gets up there and kind of i think kaz asked him what do you guys you know yeah because tyler says can we get an interview yeah because kaz isn't normally getting stopped
Starting point is 00:45:11 by people with a camera and a microphone right and he goes oh what is what is you know we have a microphone that says massonomics on everything and he goes what is it that you guys do and tyler says um almost exactly what tyler tyler Well, we have a podcast. We talk about getting strong, staying strong, how to use your strength, that sort of thing. So then Kaz goes, thanks for what you do with your podcast and all the rest. You're doing a great job.
Starting point is 00:45:34 I hope everyone keeps tuning in. Get a lot of good info, a lot of insights, how to get strong, how to stay strong, how to use your strength. How to get strong. How to stay strong. How to use your strength. He almost just repeated what it's like
Starting point is 00:45:46 damn he is just good because he put on his full media personality and he answered those questions and then at the end that's when he said that so like it wasn't like tyler said it and he and that interview was long yeah he he he rambled for a good like eight minutes and then he remembered that and finished the interview up with that so and i remember walking away because i'm in a i'm in a very noisy area filming it where i can't hear the conversation because it's like eight feet from me yeah and then when tyler gets done he's like oh kaz just like left gave us this glowing testimonial yeah yeah yeah he has no idea what he's talking about though and kaz uh the next year or two years ago when we interviewed him too, Tyler and I both interviewed him, I think, that year. And after the end of it, after off camera, I stayed and talked to him for a couple more minutes.
Starting point is 00:46:31 He is really nice, a really good guy. And I think at that time I said I wasn't going to repeat everything he said either, and I'm still not going to. But, like, just really candid, really, he was like, just like a really honest guy and really nice and really fun. So it has been cool to be able to talk to him. But that is a great quote. And I'm glad that it's actually in the intro to the podcast now because it's worth hearing. And I mean, that's pretty awesome that if you're going to give us any type of credit for transitioning you into strength sports, I think that's giving us way too much credit.
Starting point is 00:47:08 But hey, if you want to give us some, that is awesome. And thank you. Yes. So that was from Kyle. Another review here. Title of this one is Like a Moth to a Flame. Five out of five stars. And this is from BauerPower82.
Starting point is 00:47:27 of five stars and this is from bauer power 82 despite being the lifting podcast about nothing i find that i am drawn to it like a moth to the flame i know that continued listening will have a detrimental effect on my bank account as i will be encouraged to purchase their incredibly expensive shorts but i can't help myself if you are looking for a podcast that gives the best LaCroix flavors are deadlift curious and enjoy the lifting perspectives of those close to the border in parentheses northern northern border this is the podcast for you bonus all of their sponsors are actually good companies so you won't have to continually smash the 30 second forward button in an effort to avoid gouging out your eyeballs he does got a
Starting point is 00:48:06 point that is a good point we do not have the garbage sponsors that a lot of sponsors that if you listen to our podcast we work the companies that are sponsors of our podcast are companies that you would be inclined to do business with and they are very related to the niche that we are in and our listeners are in. Absolutely. Really tight and good. And they actually are like good people that we communicate with and we, you know, kind of, some more than others, but we have a little bit of a, at least a back and forth relationship with the owners of the businesses. Yeah. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:48:45 It's no, we're not just looking for the next affiliate code to try and get a few bucks here and there. Right, right. You know? We're looking for the next affiliate code that we can get the next hundred bucks. Yes, exactly. Yes. We're not in this for a quick buck. We're in it for a quick hundred.
Starting point is 00:48:54 Exactly. That was a good review, though. Yeah. Thank you. And we appreciate that feedback on the sponsors. I think that is true. Yeah. We probably have pointed out ourselves before, but it's good to hear someone else say it. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:49:04 We might not have talked about it, but was a hundred percent our thought process for sure so that's our reviews for the week but leave a please leave us a review if it shows up i always have to caveat with that because the number goes up all the time the number frequently goes up without me being able yeah we for sure have not read 140 of them no no um but if yours pops up it will be right on the podcast. If it's five out of five stars. Anything else, we'll probably sweep it under the rug. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:49:31 Act like it never happened. Have our contact at Apple delete it out of the rankings. Should we get to the grand finale? The grand finale. The reason everyone tunes in in the first place, right? Yep. So we do have to recap last week's overrated, underrated, correct? We certainly do.
Starting point is 00:49:50 Do you kind of remember the topics from last week? I think so. Did you vote this week on Instagram? I did vote. I did vote, yes. You are the one person that really gets to play twice. I even had to think. There's usually one topic every week where I can't even remember how I voted,
Starting point is 00:50:03 but I think I voted consistently. Okay. Last week's topics for overrated or underrated. Topic number one was cards against humanity. I said overrated. You said overrated? The people said underrated. 52% underrated.
Starting point is 00:50:18 That's what I was when I voted. Yep. I kind of was too. I haven't played it in a while. It is a... It's a... I mean, it's fun. But I just thought most people have like, all i played it like five times like i'm good
Starting point is 00:50:29 now yeah you know kind of yes um topic number two was jason momoa i think i said overrated here this is what i couldn't remember i did say was it overrated is that what i said yeah you said overrated i'm pretty sure and the people said overrated. So pretty close on that one, though, too. I mean, he was Aquaman. Is that good? Exactly. I rest my case. He was Aquaman, and he still was almost a 50-50.
Starting point is 00:50:56 So he must be pretty good outside of Aquaman, apparently, because Aquaman was not very good. But I like Jason Momoa, so whatever. I think he's probably a good guy. He's a good guy. He would like to be on the podcast. Topic number three was SNL, Saturday Night Live. What did you say?
Starting point is 00:51:15 What did you say overrated? I like Saturday Night Live, but I did say overrated. Yeah, the people said 79% overrated, which to me that seems a little high. I like Saturday Night Live, but I suppose I'm in more of the minority than I realized. Yeah, I still think Saturday Night Live's funny. I just don't think that they're as relevant as they used to be.
Starting point is 00:51:33 And part of that is just the way it's changed. I mean, with YouTube and Instagram and everyone trying to do comedy stuff. What about this? Everyone's a content producer, so who's left to consume the content have you ever heard that i've heard people say that and there's no shortage of people to consume anything there isn't is there is not a shortage can't you be both actually that was a that was a topic in our local newspaper i saw that front page and it was i almost took i almost that photographer has been in mass dynamics gym to take pictures and stuff before too and i kind of took i think that is personal offense but i could i could talk i could like go on about this for 20
Starting point is 00:52:09 minutes yeah it's such an old so you read that article too it's such an old school way of thinking about things like it's like well cbs and nbc and the newspaper exist why do you need anything else it's like because people are more nuanced than four different things and like can't you so the you know the statement there was that everyone's a content producer who's left to consume it can't you do both yeah exactly there's this is not a black and white thing and like i don't i don't really see the local newspaper covering a lot of diverse topics and at us as someone that we you know produce a weekly podcast for three and a half years i'm like i don't know there's an audience for it and the the world's so much smaller now
Starting point is 00:52:50 you can appeal to your niche throughout the entire world and find that group i just my answer that would be have you been on the internet there's an audience for anything literally anything legal or illegal there is an audience for it oh yeah very true so to think like there's not there's a shortage of consumers out there is mind-blowing well and it's just because the well because the local newspaper is having a hard time yeah business-wise like all local newspapers i mean like because a lot of people are putting out content i totally get that like you're competing like we're technically putting this out for free so like our radio station for a radio station to do an hour talk show they need to buy a studio space they need
Starting point is 00:53:28 to have sponsors coming on every 10 minutes pay people to do it they need to pay people to do like all right i would just assume if we had a radio show and did this once a week it's going to cost hundreds and hundreds of dollars yeah and that makes sense right that's that's how that business is built but that ain't us nope okay next a little bit of a side rant there but next topic what last from last week was tiktok you said overrated i did say over 86 overrated very overrated i still don't know what it is for sure but i guess i'm not gonna bother to find out at this point you know tanner a year from now when massonomics has a tiktok account that's i i guarantee at one point i Tanner, a year from now when Massanomics has a TikTok account. I guarantee at one point,
Starting point is 00:54:05 I remember back when I said Instagram. Why would I get into Instagram? And now it's our primary. But it's just like how Facebook is turning, or Facebook is the old person social media. So Instagram is going to be the old person. Instagram will get there eventually. Nothing lasts forever with this stuff.
Starting point is 00:54:24 Yeah. I don't like the thought of it. That true and i thought i think that same thing sometimes but i'm not excited about the thought of that nothing from our business perspective yeah i know that that is the scary part of it but nothing lasts forever yeah you know facebook seems like it's been around forever and it's like what not even really 10 years that it's been relevant yeah you could say first it was so yeah first yeah first it wasn't it wasn't even really 10 years that it's been relevant? Yeah. Because at first it was so students. Yeah, at first it was around. 10 years of being what it is kind of like today. I don't even know if it's been that long, really. Yeah, right.
Starting point is 00:54:52 It's hard to remember the changes. When business accounts started coming around, that was like maybe 2010-ish? Probably, yeah. That's probably about right. But that's getting close to 10 years. Yeah, you're right. That is in a month, that'll be 10 years yeah you are right but it is hard it's 2007 was 13 years ago
Starting point is 00:55:09 uh getting old time it's it's on your side yes it is okay so are we going to jump into this week's overrated underrated let's do it all right i'm going to pull that up right here right now you know the rules right tommy oh i think so okay great topic number one of this week's overrated underrated we finished last week with tiktok we're going to start this week with twitch overrated underrated um i personally have only watched maybe three Twitch streams in my entire life. I do think it's a channel for people to put their stuff out there, and I think that that's good. I think they provide a good, reliable service.
Starting point is 00:55:56 I don't hear a lot of people really complaining about Twitch a whole lot. I think some people had issues with them. There was maybe some stuff regarding the Hong Kong protests that I think they were i think some people had issues with them there was maybe some stuff regarding like the hong kong protests that i think they were banning some accounts or people that were speaking out against it in any way but i do believe i think for the most part twitch is is a good thing you know it is a more cutting edge you know this whole live streaming uh platform i know about as much about twitch as i do tiktok maybe slightly more i've never seen the we'll see and i'm not I'm not really a gamer at all. So that's what it's for, streaming games, correct?
Starting point is 00:56:28 It doesn't have to be only games, but that's for the... So it's streaming a screenshot of your... Well, I mean, you can just, like with most games now, you can just say like, all right, I want to record this. And like a lot of people just make their living. They're essentially doing a podcast while they're playing the game. Yeah, but if it wasn't a game then what would it be on your screen like
Starting point is 00:56:48 no i think you could like like i think you can live stream actual events oh like we gotta sound like the two oldest people talking about something right now i just i don't use twitch but i think you can live stream so you could be off a camera it wouldn't have to be like you could potentially if you're gonna run a powerlifting meet you could live stream a podcast could be on twitch then yeah yeah but are people doing that? Well, here was a good example. The last Twitch stream I watched, I do not play Fortnite.
Starting point is 00:57:11 I don't. I have several friends that are huge Fortnite. I watched that for the first time a month or less ago that I saw it actually on a screen being played. I was like, ah, that's what it is. Yeah, and it was a Sunday, and it was... Sorry, Fortnite players, I'm going to mess up all the words here, but it was the season was ending, like whatever season.
Starting point is 00:57:31 And so there was this big thing, this asteroid was coming down. And so like, oh, let's watch so-and-so's stream. So while we had football on one TV, we had the Twitch stream on the other. And these guys were just... A popular... Yeah, one of the big streamers. Yeah, yeah. And-
Starting point is 00:57:47 PewDiePie. No, it was not PewDiePie. And these guys, there was nothing going on. They're basically just sitting there with their characters, and they have cameras pointing at their face too, so you can watch- Okay, they do. Or you can watch it just like us.
Starting point is 00:57:59 Like they're sitting in front of their screen, where they got a microphone, headphones on and everything. And then after a little while like the game kind of ended it was just basically a black screen and then it was just all of these guys just basically doing a podcast they were just sitting there talking for a very long time just talking about like what's going on here oh i'm on twitter check out this and then like they weren't talking for a little bit and then all of a sudden they're talking again and it was kind of just like watching a recorded hangout yeah yeah right but it was live streaming yeah so i think i think twitch is
Starting point is 00:58:27 underrated i just don't game so i don't i don't really use right overrated or underrated adam sandler the sand man overrated this is a collective being his oh i was saying his collective body of work beginning to end. I did just hear, I think he just had a new movie come out and I thought I saw people say like it was pretty good. And the rule, someone was like, well, yeah, because he does one good movie every 10 years. I don't know what that movie is.
Starting point is 00:58:57 So I can't actually comment on that at all. But he's got to do more than one good one every 10 years though. Billy Madison is good, right? it was good yeah this is great um happy gilmore happy gilmore's good right yep what about uh where he's the hockey uh uh the dad a big daddy big daddy that's probably that's a pretty yeah that's a pretty decent one, too, for not being super dumb. You know, like, Happy Gilmore and Billy Madison are way, way dumb. Right.
Starting point is 00:59:29 Wedding Singer, not good, would you say? I've never seen The Wedding Singer in its entirety before. Maybe that means that I don't really care. It's probably funny if I watched it, but that was one I never watched. And then after that like i've never seen punch drunk love like the serious one what 41st dates i've never watched that it's i've seen it it's what was the one click yeah yeah i've never watched that one i'm seeing that before too i just water boy good yeah water boys really so water boy okay water boy billy madison but really
Starting point is 01:00:04 the thing happy gilmore those have in common is they all came out early in his big daddy yes but like that's what i'm but you can't say one every 10 years because he did four yeah you know i also i don't know anything that's been that i've almost forgotten entertaining lately uh this is probably one or two we're forgetting about that are good but also also Adam Sandler on Saturday Night Live was really funny. Yes. He was. We had.
Starting point is 01:00:27 When we were kids, we had the VHS of the best of Adam Sandler on SNL. Yes. And they were so funny. He him on the weekend update. Yes. Like all of his songs. When he would. I mean, I can't do an impersonation of him, but just his noise.
Starting point is 01:00:44 Yeah. And it's like, what is that even? What is what is he doing there you know did you see it all maybe you didn't watch the episode but did you see any of the clips he hosted snl last year and it's like the first time yeah i didn't i didn't see any of it and there is a scene where he's at his family reunion uh is what he's oh yeah and it's all the people yeah and it's like i forgot about that walks in and one of his family members is like oh that's adam don't say anything to him he just uses all of us as as his characters and all of his movies and like so there's like a couple of his cousins are like billy are billy madison and then like one of his someone is chubs from happy gilmore and then like it's just like
Starting point is 01:01:21 his family is all the characters and it was yeah really funny. I forgot. I did see. I think that was the only one I did see. Yeah, that was good. So Adam Sandler, early career. Okay. What about also his CDs? Did you ever have any? No, I never did.
Starting point is 01:01:34 Oh, those when I was a kid, some of it was probably even over my head or like beyond what I should have been listening to at the age that I was listening to it. But that's what you do when you're a kid. That's what when Napster comes around. people just oh so funny like and some of it was stuff taken off of his snl but i think he he probably did like four or five of those but it was like fatty mcgee and uh like tollbooth willie or uh tollbooth willie is a really popular one and i wish i could do an impersonation of him and I could go off on some of them. But if you've ever listened to those CDs,
Starting point is 01:02:08 I think I wore some of those out listening to those. I just know just that like Lunch Lady Land and all of the Hanukkah songs and the Christmas ones and that stuff. I know all of those because those were on. And like Opera Man. Yep. But that was on Weekend Update.
Starting point is 01:02:24 When he hosted this last season, he did Opera man on weekend update and it was funny it was really good yeah it was just it's so funny just to like see this guy at the time was like a young kid like you know just playing like these simple little songs on the guitar and they're so stupid and the audience you can tell is like is dying. They're cracking up hard. But that brings us to Adam Sandler of today. And I don't know anything about his... I don't follow him at all. The last thing I caught, and this is probably even fairly old now,
Starting point is 01:02:57 was what was the one with all the parents? Were they all with Kevin James and David Spade and whatever that is? Were they all like allvin james and david spade and whatever that is where they all like and all the old people that are getting together yeah yeah i can't the second one whatever well i can't remember what the second one was on i don't remember and i'm watching like this is grown up sir yes no i don't know that's i don't even want to look it up yeah um the second one was on i was watching i'm like this is so it's not even funny. I'm not even being entertained right now.
Starting point is 01:03:27 This isn't good. So I'm going to say, ah, but I hate. I don't want to see. What about the movie where he has the butler? Mr. Deeds. Mr. Deeds is pretty funny. That one was pretty good, too. Mr. Deeds is pretty funny.
Starting point is 01:03:37 See, that was the Adam Sandler we grew up with was that stuff. Mr. Deeds is pretty funny. Yeah. And he stabs like he beats his foot with that. With that fire poke. No, no, I don't feel it. See, that's why I have a hard time because now when I think about it, like Adam Sandler's comedy was such a big part of my childhood.
Starting point is 01:04:01 And to me, growing growing up that is what funny stuff was yeah you know we didn't have youtube videos to watch right and even like center net live you would hope something funny would be on but if it wasn't something funny you're like all right i'll just wait till the next week yeah or i'll just put my adam sandler snl tape back in and we watched that way too much but that's why it hurts to say he's overrated you know what i'm gonna say adam sandler's underrated because i think in this day and age most people think of him as the current adam sandler which is and i think a lot of people probably aren't even like canteen boy yeah right right like people are become almost forgotten or maybe aren't even privy to like how funny he actually was yeah yeah and i think that that's been lost so i think i think most people just think of him as the overrated
Starting point is 01:04:48 guy of oh he just gets his friends together and does movie sets and he's not funny and doesn't do anything for comedy but yeah i think of adam sandler i like to think of yeah my adam sandler is the adam sandler of the late the late 90s and early 2000s. Right. So I'm going to say underrated here. Good enough. Overrated or underrated? DiGiorno pizza. Oh, I don't even have to. This topic, I guess I should let you know, this topic isn't delivery.
Starting point is 01:05:14 It is DiGiorno. I don't even have to think about this because I think DiGiorno is way overrated. You're just buying more bread. That's all you're doing, right? It's just more bread. It's the same amount of sauce, the same amount of cheese,
Starting point is 01:05:24 the same amount of sauce, the same amount of cheese, the same. Maybe the toppings are maybe a minor step up. But, I mean, you're eating frozen pizza. So your standards are pretty low in the first place. I guess if you lived in a very rural place where you aren't somewhere where you could go to Pizza Hut or where you don't live where you could just go buy actual pizza, too. Yeah. Like, why do you spend, like, $ dollars on a frozen pizza because you're insane yeah and I'm just making up a number or whatever but like when I don't just go buy uh dominoes delivers right
Starting point is 01:05:55 mediums for six dollars or whatever it is right you know yeah like I said if you live somewhere where you can't do that you know I'm just curious who the people that think DiGiorno is good are. I don't know anyone. I guess it tricks some people because they do think it's delivery. Have you ever seen the commercials? Yes, I know. Yeah, it's the dumbest. And this isn't delivery.
Starting point is 01:06:18 It's DiGiorno, you dumbass. You thought this was delivery? That's what it should be. We've got to get you an appointment, man. You've got something wrong with you. You idiot. You thought this was delivery we gotta get you an appointment man you got something wrong with you you idiot you thought this was delivery have you ever had a delivery pizza in your life it's smaller and it doesn't
Starting point is 01:06:32 taste smaller it tastes way less good you can obviously look at the bottom and realize it kind of got black because it doesn't cook near as good as the pizza oven the whole house smells like pizza like it was cooking yeah I just put away the pizzazz pizza maker. I put away this fine pizza oven called the pizzazz.
Starting point is 01:06:52 Yeah. It's not good. I don't know anyone that likes DiGiorno. I mean, I would eat it. I would absolutely eat it. I'm just saying, if I'm going to pick pizza, if I have a list of 50 pizzas di giorno is gonna be right down there towards the 50th you know yeah it doesn't fit the whole you know a
Starting point is 01:07:13 tombstone or totino's or something could fit a plug a whole um it like fills this gap in the market almost like where i think like that's yeah you you guess you only want to buy a two dollar pizza okay there you go there's like to me that's what frozen pizzas are right right uh i need something i'm kind of craving pizza and i just want kind of a cheap shitty good right fun tasting food yeah and that's what pizza is but if i'm gonna buy something that's not cheap i'm just gonna buy the one where someone does it for me. And it's better. Yeah. Right? Yeah.
Starting point is 01:07:46 Does anyone think that DiGiorno tastes better than Pizza Hut? I don't know. I'm just saying Pizza Hut as an example, but like... Still, even in that example,
Starting point is 01:07:55 I hope no one thinks DiGiorno's better than Pizza Hut. I'm not saying Pizza Hut's the world's best pizza, but it's better than DiGiorno. Yes. I would still pick DiGiorno over a lot of other food, but DiGiorno. Yes. I would still pick DiGiorno over a lot of other food,
Starting point is 01:08:06 but DiGiorno is overrated though. And it is not delivery. It is not delivery and you should never be confused. Okay. Last topic for the day. Overrated or underrated? Christmas stockings. Hmm.
Starting point is 01:08:22 Christmas stockings. This is obviously a timely topic because this episode comes it is i think that christmas maybe it's because i'm not a kid but i think christmas stockings are one piece of the christmas occasion that can get overlooked fairly easily uh and it's a it's a it can be a place to really sneak in a little extra holiday cheer or excitement whatever that may be so i think christmas christmas stockings are underrated i think people are overlooking it too much did you like your family did you guys do christmas stocking this is we really didn't do my family this is the i don't
Starting point is 01:08:55 remember we didn't do it from like the time i was a yeah it's not like oh i can have christmas stockings as long as i can remember no that was never the case but i want to say probably when i was maybe like in middle school, for some reason my family started a Christmas stocking tradition. And this is what it was. There might have been other things in it, but the only thing I remembered every year, and basically to this year, I don't get a stocking,
Starting point is 01:09:19 but my family still does this. You ever had a chocolate orange tanner? Oh, yeah. It's not orange. It's just chocolate that's flavored like orange, and you hit it and break it, and it breaks into the orange pieces. And it's pretty good.
Starting point is 01:09:31 It's not bad. For whatever reason, that was our Christmas stocking gift, was a chocolate orange. So every year at Christmas, we still get chocolate oranges. Okay. One time,
Starting point is 01:09:40 Ryan tried to sneak a chocolate orange into the movie theater, and then- He got busted? He didn't get busted, but once he was in there, he realized, I need to whack this on something, and then I need to be able to open the foil, see all of the pieces, and eat it. It was not ideal movie theater food.
Starting point is 01:09:57 Good idea for to execute. It's tough to execute at a movie theater is a Christmas orange. I had to teach my son a little bit about sneaking items into the movie theater to not pay for them from the concession stand. Time-honored tradition. Well, when you live in this part of the country, you have the benefit of large, large coats on your side. Enormous coats.
Starting point is 01:10:20 Ah, your $40 concessions will not get me. And it's just the thrill you know the thrill of pulling one over just like why people want to shoplift you know it's a victimless it really is a victimless crime though yep we didn't really do stockings i don't think growing up very much maybe we did a little bit i don't remember it that much and don't feel like i really missed out on much with that but we kind of do it. But like what I think my wife kind of does it and stuff. And I get like usually get like a toothbrush, like a new toothbrush or a few things that I need. Maybe like a vape pen or something.
Starting point is 01:10:54 A jewel. Something really discreet and small. A jewel vape pen. Or like I like like floss picks. Yeah. That's like what they're for. That's what I want. Oh, cool. Yeah. Yeah. That is the some of those back. And that's like what they're for. It's like, oh, cool.
Starting point is 01:11:05 Thanks, I guess. Yeah, that is the perfect stocking stuff. So you said what underrated? I said stockings are underrated. All right. That wraps up overrated and underrated for this episode that we had here. And I suppose that brings us towards the close of our episode. It certainly does.
Starting point is 01:11:21 We mentioned the new Crispy Boy banner that we do have available. We got a relatively limited number, though. So if you want one, I wouldn't wait. What else do we have? We probably should say the JDLTs are going to be showing up any day. Right. Our other episode, we'll mention it, but just with the way they're dropping, I don't know for sure what order those will come out in. So be on the lookout for those.
Starting point is 01:11:43 We're not going to have a lot of those for Sam. We're giving away 10 we did we did a way we're giving away 10 and we did a small order so if you want it you're gonna want to make sure you get it because there's a good chance your size could sell and we might not reorder that might be a shirt that we don't uh get back yeah you know we're also at this point we haven't made a decision on the breaking parallel shirt which we only have a few left of those so if you want one of those definitely order it now otherwise you're going to message in like a month and be like when are you getting more of those and maybe it could go into the vault for a very long time right right so for the next time they make a
Starting point is 01:12:11 breaking bad uh a movie and we have a reason to bring it out again yeah because otherwise that's going to fade into uh oblivion of relevance here so it might not come back uh but it is a cool shirt yeah and then the other thing the lift shorts restocked we almost completely sold out of every pair of lift shorts 2.0 that we that we had bought in every size and that's something about perfect ordering i don't know i or maybe high demand yes yes it might just be more of a high demand but so we got those restocked in every size again for now but we're starting to sell those again now that they're restocked also the lift shorts 1.0 we're getting out of those in some sizes and got those restocked otherwise we're pretty good on inventory again now so you could buy most of that stuff um that what else do we do like us on facebook
Starting point is 01:13:00 subscribe on youtube battle it out for first comment. I don't know if we've talked about that for a couple weeks, but that battle rages on. It does not die down.
