Starting point is 00:02:06 we're only uh three away from the big two zero zero to hondo and this also this episode marks like the longest break in podcasting that we had taken in a long time the biggest hiatus in a year yeah not i guess as far as a listener is concerned it's no no break to you we've been coming to you every week, just like always. This is scheduled as regular. Right, but for Tommy and myself, it's been... What was that? Have we had in the last two years?
Starting point is 00:02:31 Have we taken two weeks off ever? I don't think that we have since you and I have just done the show, just the two of us. I don't remember taking like more... I don't really, honestly, I don't really remember taking a week off hardly. I don't either. Especially since we've moved the studio. I don't know if we have taken a week off. No, I don't really honestly i don't really remember taking a week off hardly i don't either especially since we've moved the studio i don't know if we have taken a week off no i don't think so god we are dedicated so we're coming back god we are good yeah we're pretty refreshed for this oh man we are the best yeah i was a little bit uh i haven't read the the podcast sponsorship ads
Starting point is 00:03:00 for so long it was a little bit fuzzy on those you like just you weren't reading them before bed like i do no no just have to recite it's like my prayers yeah i'm gonna have to get back into those uh i've got these all memorized by heart but just have to brush up on them a little bit you know tan i just thought of this right now is that like an ultra og mess and this one is pretty og it's even got some lint on it that might be wow i haven't seen one like that in quite a while there are only think, three of these that ever existed. Really? Yeah, this is, for those of you that aren't watching on YouTube, you should be. Actually, I don't know that it matters to you.
Starting point is 00:03:33 No, I mean, as long as you're listening, we don't really care about it. But if you get to YouTube, you can get in on that first comment race. Which is the most important race of the week. It's the war that never ends, really. No, it never does. But what I'm wearing is, this is a black Massanomics tee, and it has the OG logo in red on it. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:03:53 It's like one of three that ever existed. Wow. Ryan Anderson, another guy at the gym, has one, and then Austin Schanzenbach, who used to be a team member of Massanomics, has the other one. So I think those are the only three that ever were. And it's on one of the older tees that we used to use.
Starting point is 00:04:13 Ah, even that is. I forgot about that even. Yeah, I don't really like it. My original tee style, the neck. The neck is what's. It's an old neck hole. It's not quite engineered correctly on those. No, it's not.
Starting point is 00:04:25 But I do like the look of the shirt. Maybe this is something we'll have to do someday. Yeah, bring that color back. It's kind of a cool color. Yeah, this red was almost like a little bit orangey red or something, too. Red is surprisingly tricky, though. Yeah, isn't it the trickiest color for screen printing? I don't know if that's the case or not.
Starting point is 00:04:43 Once you start to really look at red, because we got massonomics red, for like screen printing? I don't know if that's the case or not, but it's just red. Once you start to really look at red, you know, because we got massonomics red, you start to see how like easy it is for things to go to yellow or orange side of things or even to get more on the magenta and start to almost get pink and other colors involved. And if you look at even some of the stuff, like some different banners that we've had,
Starting point is 00:05:01 like the OG logo and stuff in the past, some of them are different, you know, there are some different versions of the red out there for sure as someone that has worked in the print industry though that can literally change on the daily the same machine just depending on who calibrated it when it was calibrated what print jobs ran before it the same thing can change within i mean hours for sure on a day-to-day basis so um that's printing for you what uh what to you what is the shade of massonomics red like what well like what do you mean well like if if you're uh i just like the typical i just think it's probably more of a bright red okay you know if you look at a lot crimson? No, because a lot of college teams use crimson.
Starting point is 00:05:46 Yep. And that's usually a darker. It has more black in it. Right. As far as colors go, our red has no black in it. Yep. Even, you know, like around this part of the country, a common college team with red is Nebraska.
Starting point is 00:05:59 Yeah. Their red compared to ours is a fairly dark red compared to ours. Theirs is, yeah. It's not even really a dark red, but compared to ours it is. Ours is a fairly dark red compared to ours it's not even really a dark red but compared to ours it is ours is a pretty bright red so right yeah i don't know bright red i guess is maybe the best way to describe it really yeah that wasn't isn't the um the old thing massonomics red is like regular red only stronger only stronger only only redder yeah yeah i think that's how it goes uh tanner because we are back though uh after this long grueling break we better get some refreshments asap all right
Starting point is 00:06:33 i hadn't i haven't had a lacroix in a while now well that's a game that's a bold assumption of you to assume we have a lacroix i didn't know if we're playing what's in the can or not so we will play what's in the can as we enter back after our hiatus. So it might not be a LaCroix. It could be literally anything that fits in a can. I didn't take a look at this, so maybe it's not. I'm up for anything today, though. So, Tanner, I'm going to have you guess what is in that can.
Starting point is 00:06:59 Oh, I'm so good at this game. Yeah, that's good that is good I think I got a little hint of a smell I think we're definitely dealing with a fizzy bubbly this tastes like
Starting point is 00:07:23 a non-alcoholic white claw the work beer a work beer podcasting beer i see that's catching on a little bit yeah yes i think the lacroix work beers let's see though but to get the to the crux of the the whole game here is the essence of what is it the only part i can ever really get that is if it is or is not a la croix so far i'm going with it is a it is la croix well i guess i don't know if that's the brand but that's typically what we have the flavor the flavor breakdown that is hard god every time i forget i always forget how hard it is until i start to try it and i'm like yep cannot fucking tell ah i taste a sweetness a certain certain sweetness hanging on there? A sweetness.
Starting point is 00:08:28 Sweeter than, you know, I don't think it's, it's not like a lemon or a lime. There's a sweetness to me. More like strawberry. Okay. Let me take, or. That's kind of what I'm getting a strawberry. I guess. I don't think that that's right, but that's the only thing I could say.
Starting point is 00:08:48 It is. I would be really surprised if you guess this fruit correctly, Tanner, because it is passion fruit. Okay. So not a bad, not a bad flavor though. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:08:57 I would say it's closely related to a strawberry. I actually couldn't tell you what a passion fruit looked like if I saw it. Cause I know I'm so bad with fruit. The aphrodisiac of fruit is passion fruit. It does have red in the coloring and stuff. Yeah, that's a tough one. If someone could blind taste test pick out a passion fruit. I mean, you could literally feed me a passion fruit.
Starting point is 00:09:20 I wouldn't know that I'm eating a passion fruit. Would you? No. Do you know what a passion fruit looks like? No, I guess I'm just picturing um what are the what's that fruit that has like the all the little balls in it that uh p starts with a p pomegranate yeah i'm picturing a pomegranate but yeah passion fruit is not a pomegranate but that's unless it's the only fruit with two names right right that's all That's all I'm picturing. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:09:45 Well, maybe someone out there can tell us what a passion fruit is because we definitely don't know. It's a good-tasting LaCroix, though. Yeah, it's not a bad flavor. I don't know if it takes – it's still not on my podium, but I would recommend this one to people. Oh, this is a good one. This is a good one.
Starting point is 00:10:02 I would recommend this one. It does have a little bit sweeter flavor than some of them do i would say it does i guess i thought it was strawberry that was a good guess though i'd like to taste this one uh next to a strawberry one and see how much of a difference i could tell probably none i probably couldn't either no so how many uh jd power and associates uh i think i would I think most people, this would be a really good entry flavor. Yeah. Me personally, I'm going to go three and a half, four-ish. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:10:34 That's where I'm going to go. I'm going to leave it in between there. Yeah. But I think for most people, this could be towards the top of their list. Yeah. I guess I'll give it a three. If you looked at the distribution of our JD Power and it's always it's always three to four yeah almost always a four and a half or a two and a half
Starting point is 00:10:52 are extreme outliers yeah it is let alone a five or well we're not going to drink anything bad on here right i suppose that's why you know we're the ones that have to drink this stuff so it's not going to be a bad one it's just how good is it going to be thanks he gave me something that tastes like yeah dog dog piss i give that zero this down over here so tanner we should probably bring people up to speed what we've been doing these last two weeks they probably want to know what the hell's been going on in our lives i'm sure that they're dying what's been happening why are these podcast episodes not being released days after they've been recorded what in the world is going on yeah so you were you were out partying across the country i was i was in uh florida hanging out
Starting point is 00:11:31 with uh florida you know they say florida the land of bud jeffries that is true someone uh made a funny comment about the the don't curl in me flag the don't curl in me shirt that's someone goes oh that must be but that looks like bud jeffrey's squat rack and the reason it looks like bud's jeffrey's squat rack is because it's outside it has grass underneath the green florida yeah yeah yeah and as soon as i said that i'm like wow i can't believe i've actually never thought of that once you see it it's like oh yeah that's definitely what that is. That's a Bud Jeffries squat, right? For sure. It sure is. It definitely is. I didn't see Bud while I was in there, while I was down there.
Starting point is 00:12:10 But that's right. I didn't go to any gyms or anything exciting like that. It was just a straight up vacay. Yeah, straight R&R. Which is good. Which is good. Yep. Hit the beaches a couple times.
Starting point is 00:12:23 Dipped into the ocean. Hit some waves on the boogie board. Saw some dolphins yeah some dolphins uh did some fishing yeah did some fishing i reeled in a fish did you a jack is what the fish was what is is that a saltwater or a freshwater fish um i guess it's a saltwater yeah okay yeah saltwater because we're you were in's saltwater, yeah. Okay. Yeah, saltwater because we're... You were in the saltwater? Yeah, right. So I am not a fisher man, so I don't... I am not either. My son, eight-year-old son, knows much more about fishing than I do.
Starting point is 00:12:56 That's not even a lie because he likes it and likes to do it. Kids are good at stuff like that, though. Yeah, yeah. What else? We did some... Dug up a lot of shark teeth on the beaches that's a big thing that we go do every year is hunt for some shark teeth drink some brewskis and some i was on a uh you know those pineapple juice i don't know why pineapple juice comes in these cans and like
Starting point is 00:13:19 nothing else like the hard soup yeah yes yes yeah like the indestructible can yes yes exactly and then it usually the top is like this the silver foil that like is glued to the top is that why is pineapple juice the one because orange juice doesn't come in those or no juice comes in those right pineapple juice is the only one i ever have that does but they do yeah it's like all the time they come in those um anyways but i was on a vodka and and those kind of kick yep and that was kind of good i i usually don't do that but yeah i know what you're saying um was there anything else in particular that we did a lot of swimming in the pool uh got got to have the swimming yes that's really it then just a lot of eating out and uh uh going to bed kind of early like vacation gets tiring where you're
Starting point is 00:14:12 like oh it's like 9 30 everyone's tired we're all going to bed that does sound like a pretty relaxing vacation yeah between eating a lot drinking sleeping yeah chilling on the beach yeah what more do you need in the vacation and i i wasn't doing, I was off my phone more than a normal week. And that's also a good thing to do on vacation, too. Yeah, I wasn't doing near as much Masonomics time. We're still getting the post out. Just shit talking on the web. Yeah, I know.
Starting point is 00:14:38 I wasn't getting as much Masonomics stuff in, but it was all right. It was nice. I got a notification on uh from my phone how like that my screen like at the end of the week was significantly lower and i was like oh yeah i suppose it was screw you guys the system won't own me yep yep yeah that's always like a small win when i get that notification right your time was less than last week it's like yeah yeah and i wasn't really making a super i just in general going into it i was like yeah i'm not gonna dick around on my phone that much so like in the morning when i
Starting point is 00:15:10 was laying in bed i would like get a post ready and yep then like kind of not mess so long yeah but so i kind of missed what was going on in the world for a week or so there the world of you didn't miss anything tanner we were just saying this is probably the slowest time of the year for lifting right i think so like starting to mid-december through almost even up until the arnold yeah because now most serious people there are you know more elite people they're not gonna be doing anything right now because the arnold's the next big thing coming up right so you're not going to be seeing a lot of people like peaking for meets right now yeah when they've got that coming down there down the pike yeah i think i think you're probably right it is one of the slower we're in a little bit of a lull strongman wise people are what you know those guys yeah are waiting for like the arnold circuit's gonna
Starting point is 00:15:57 fire up here pretty soon yep luckily though we're here to fill the gap aren't we that's right that's what we're here for that is what we do better than anyone that's why we don't miss a week no we uh we owe it to the people wow while you were gone doing stuff yeah what what all what all did i miss here um you didn't miss a lot you missed a crazy snowstorm actually you kind of caught the the tail or the beginning of it another ridiculous our second like 16 inch dropping of snow that like just i barely made it to the airport and barely got out yeah i was i was actually shocked when you told me you flew out yes so i got to live through that which here i am today uh other than that though not a whole lot you know i did see so there's a few things
Starting point is 00:16:41 i saw now this is the time time of, actually even for like the past month, where people are releasing like best of the year lists, you know, for a lot of things. So it's a really easy way for you to catch up on all the significant things that happened. Yep. And I did see some best of the year movie lists. And one of them on the list that I had never heard of
Starting point is 00:17:01 was a movie called Uncut Gems. Have you ever heard of this? Nope. Starring Adam Sandler. Oh. Which is funny because we just did an over-under with him a month ago, maybe? Right. And it is a serious movie. And he is like a jewelry salesman in New York. And basically, he yells the... My wife and I went to this movie and had no clue what it was about. Other than we'd heard people, some people said it was really, really good.
Starting point is 00:17:29 Like, all right, good enough. We'll go to it. I had no idea if it was set. What time period was it set? It was set in like 2012-ish. Kevin Garnett is one of the main characters in it. Oh, I have heard that. So it's a new movie.
Starting point is 00:17:40 It is a new movie, though. Yeah. Yeah, someone at the gym was talking about it and that Kevin Garnett plays himself. Yeah, he plays himself. Yeah. It is a new movie though. Yeah. Yeah. Someone at the gym was talking about it and that Kevin Garnett plays himself. Yeah. He plays himself. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:17:47 And is Kevin, does he seem like he's a real actor or how can you be an actor though when you're seven foot tall? Like he's playing himself. Yeah. He's playing himself. Yeah. Like he's literally like going to a Boston Celtics game and stopping at the shop. Oh, and it's set in 2012.
Starting point is 00:18:01 So he's playing. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. So like there's some stuff like that going on on but we had no clue what it was about and pretty soon you're like maybe an hour into it you're like this is kind of stressful like everyone's just yelling non-stop yeah and it just goes on and on basically i'm not going to give anything away but he's kind of like a guy that's a bit of like a gambling addict, like money obsessed, like always kind of chasing that next scheming.
Starting point is 00:18:28 You know, he's scheming and wheeling and dealing and doing all these things. So basically he's always yelling at people. People are always yelling at him because he owes them money. He's yelling at someone because he's trying to flip the next deal on them. And it's just like his world's closing in on him a little bit. And if you can go along for that ride um it's it's a trip i would say is there any laughs in it um he's not like yelling in one of his funny voices there's zero of that there there might be some laughs but it's just because it's like
Starting point is 00:18:57 maybe more in a dark humor thing but there's no there's no he's not doing like the like yeah none of that with him doing whatever he does. Yeah. Yep, you're not getting that in this movie. Dang. It's hard for me to just recommend to people because it is a bit of an acquired taste in that the whole story,
Starting point is 00:19:17 and like a lot of, what do you want to say, like art house type movies where you're watching, like, what did I just watch? What was the takeaway from that? It kind of just started and it kind of just ended yep um but if you're up for something interesting i would recommend it so something to check out there so is that that's on netflix you said no it's at the theater oh yeah that's right it's new yeah yeah yeah that's not gonna work yeah i'll have to wait on that one there was that one. And then did you catch, this was making quite a few rounds in the past three, four days here.
Starting point is 00:19:50 Ricky Gervais' speech at the Golden Globes. No, I didn't. No, I didn't. Do you know who Ricky Gervais is? Is he Michael Scott? Yeah, he's the office guy. Yeah, right. The actual, yeah.
Starting point is 00:20:04 He hosted. He hosted. Yeah yeah and it's like his fifth time hosting yeah and his speech was really funny like he is just basically he basically goes on to say like first of all I encourage anyone that might be slightly interested in it to just watch
Starting point is 00:20:18 it because I'm not going to do it any justice I'll have to watch it it's like seven minutes it's like his opening monologue yeah anyways he starts like oh here we go again these idiots hired me to do it you I haven't it's like seven minutes it's like his opening monologue yeah anyways he starts like oh here we go again these idiots hired me to do it you know like just like ripping into things and he basically goes into the thing
Starting point is 00:20:30 of just ripping into all of the rich people in the world and like maybe I saw something there was like who was the the Hollywood director guy
Starting point is 00:20:37 that was like doing all the quid pro quo sexual harassment and like the really bad oh harvey weinstein yeah was there something about harvey well yeah he made he makes see he makes jokes about all of them and like he even makes a joke about like uh he says something like and it didn't hang it's art he said something like it didn't do itself just like how jeffrey epstein didn't kill himself and people
Starting point is 00:21:00 kind of go oh and he goes what you guys you're the ones that are friends with him he's your friend and he goes don't boo me like he says things like that and he had one he was talking about uh you know he's like apple made its entrance into uh the streaming wars with apple tv and yeah the morning show this great drama and uh i'm gonna totally butcher the segue of however he did it but he's like yeah you are oh because he's like you know it talks about the me too culture and kind of the woke environment and he's like pretty woke that uh you guys are all working for a company that all their labor is done in sweatshops and he's like saying this to people and tim cook is actually sitting there and he's like
Starting point is 00:21:39 pretty woke that you guys all uh work for a company that all of their labor is done by sweatshops in china he's like you know amazon, Amazon, Facebook, Apple. He goes, if ISIS started a streaming network, I think most of you would call your agent tomorrow to start working for them. And he's like saying this to these people's faces. And one of the good reactions was just Tom Hanks was like sitting front and center. And it looked like his head was going to explode multiple times. He's like, like he was just trying to keep it.
Starting point is 00:22:02 Was he laughing? Not really. You could almost see him being like, we don't say this stuff here. But there was, and then he like rips into the movie Cats for a while, because it's the movie Cats. No surprise there. I would encourage
Starting point is 00:22:16 anyone that wants to see a laugh, or wants to laugh at some famous Hollywood people's expense, it's probably a good one i'll have to check that out yeah yeah i i would recommend it um so we're catching up on a few things here tanner where are we even at there's so many things it's a list there are a lot of things um oh should we talk about our shoes right now oh Tanner? Oh, yeah. What's on our feet?
Starting point is 00:22:46 That's a new one-time segment of what's on your feet. What's on our feet? Well, it could be a multiple-time segment. If anyone else listening wants to send us shoes, we'll gladly model any shoes you want to send us. But we got the first people ever to want to send us shoes. Yeah. New shoes, even.
Starting point is 00:23:04 Not like worn. I'll hold mine and now now these aren't just my hip tanner these aren't just any shoes what are these shoes called indestructible indestructible shoes yep you want to know how you google it just type in indestructible shoes that's actually the name and um they just reached out and said hey we want to send you guys some shoes yep and so we just basically gave them a size. We said, all right. And they sent these. So these are actually steel toe and like puncture-proof shoes. Yeah. Like workplace compliant, whatever all those safety things are.
Starting point is 00:23:35 Yes. I believe they hit all the marks on those. OSHA. I don't think I've ever had a pair of steel toe shoes ever. They're not practical for most people. They actually make no sense for most people, unless you have a job that requires it yes then in that case you know what we're talking about i guess but um surprisingly comfortable for being a shoe like that yep uh yeah i i have yours took longer to get here than mine did so you have not seen or worn yours prior to today actually i've worn mine a few different times and
Starting point is 00:24:07 you know that you're wearing a shoe that has a steel toe on it i would say like it's not like you're not like oh i can't even tell there's a steel toe on the shoe which i don't know if that's even possible with how engineering things works so you can notice it's there but um yeah the the the demos the videos and stuff show them like stomping on nails and stuff there's something in the souls that makes them so they can't be and ever since i looked them up online i get ads for them all the time on instagram now all the time yeah i get an ad i see an ad from them every day yep of someone stomping through nails and running through fire and crushing glass and whatever they're doing the one ad ad where they're stomping on nails
Starting point is 00:24:45 every they're wearing a pair of black joggers with white lettering down the side and every time it reminds me it makes me think for a split second that i have our joggers yeah which i wish they were yeah a lot of the styles of these shoes very closely mimic a company that starts with an a and ends with an s yeah so if you're into something with a more athletic style. Don't you have shoes that look something like that? I have a few that are pretty close to this, yes. So if you're into something, I would say this is a very specific shoe.
Starting point is 00:25:14 If you don't need to wear a steel-toed shoes, I would never recommend someone get a pair of steel-toed shoes. But if you need a pair, seem fairly decent actually. Yeah, I mean, they're pretty comfortable. Like, I suppose to really test a shoe, you have to wear it a long time or wear it through, like, a pretty serious day when you're on your feet a lot. And then I would have, like, if I wore shoes to the Arnold,
Starting point is 00:25:37 then I know if they're good shoes or not because you're on your feet all day. I don't know if that's even a real test, though, because it's so extreme. Yeah, yeah. But, like, for the bit that I have worn these and stuff, they're pretty comfortable. your feet i don't know if that's even a real test yeah that's like a beyond yeah yeah but like for the bit that i have worn these and stuff they're pretty comfortable like i they feel pretty comfortable to me they're a little bit heavier because they have a steel toe because there's freaking steel in them yep but they're pretty comfortable to me i don't know well well indestructible shoes and i generally like the way that they look.

Starting point is 00:29:01 And throughout the year, they'll also get more new products from Lifting Large to evaluate, provide feedback, and keep who is eligible. Any strength-based athlete may enter from any strength sport. Does that mean we're eligible, Tanner? I don't know. There may be a conflict of them choosing us. Okay, all right.
Starting point is 00:29:23 Yes, we may not. Well, we'll say out of it let someone else we'll say out of it let someone else have a shot though um so they say power lifter strongman highland games athletes moss wrestling uh crossfit or any combination of those any athletes from around the world are welcome to enter winners will be chosen by several different metrics and they talk about dedication to their sport, longevity in their sport, how do they give back to the sport, what's their future in that. That stuff all makes sense.
Starting point is 00:29:51 Of course, they would use that as criteria. But they're going to pick three men and three women, $750 in lifting large gift certificates and another $250 with the products and then more products throughout the year. So over $1,000 worth of lifting stuff. Yeah, that's awesome. And then plus, like they said, they get a code and everything
Starting point is 00:30:10 and then they can use that back on their site. So yeah, that's a pretty good deal. That's large. Hit them up. Yes, and that's the 2020 sponsorship contest and goes until the 17th. So don't wait. Get on that.

And that is that I have a baby boy on the way. Yeah, that's what I was going to say.
Starting point is 00:32:48 So that's pretty exciting for me, too. That is. So you did the big reveal. We did the big reveal. Yeah. It was only 200 pounds of explosives. It was a pretty, pretty big deal. So you didn't do the deadlift onto the bag of...
Starting point is 00:33:02 No, we didn't do all that. We kept it somewhat... There's nothing wrong with doing that, but we kept it... We had a few friends come over and we tied some balloons onto the dog. The dog came running out. He had some balloons on him. Did you feel nervous when it was coming?
Starting point is 00:33:17 I wasn't nervous. I was never nervous. There's not a bad... They ran out and it's green. Yeah, I feel like nervous is something that can happen when something bad can happen. But it was just excitement. Like, oh, what's this going to be?
Starting point is 00:33:35 This is a big deal. Whatever this is, whatever the decision is... Very significantly changes your life. It will have a very large impact on my life. For the rest of your life. There's not a lot of things that you can say will have that. Yeah. So to find out we're having a boy, that's pretty cool.
Starting point is 00:33:48 I had absolutely no preference as to what we're going to have. And we were talking about that too. Like I've been in that same boat where it's. Yeah, it's like I want a baby. Yeah, right. Boy or girl, it doesn't matter. Right. Boy, sure, that is awesome.
Starting point is 00:34:00 And so we're both very, very excited about it. Yeah. You'll be able to start teaching him how to podcast. You know, two all types of guy stuff. Podcast, edit photos. Man, we're going to have a great time together. I bet he's really going to like Masonomics. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:34:19 You have to assume. You know, with most children, if you get too mad at an early age, they'll just like anything i think that's pretty much indoctrination is the term yep yep so yeah we'll start that program early there will be we don't have a mass dynamics uh onesie well available yet but we can some people have asked for that i know we might just have to keep a small stock of them yes yes in our it has beautiful little shop.
Starting point is 00:34:45 It has been asked. There is one in existence, a custom one that my daughter had made for her when she was little. Besides that, it's a bit of a rare item. Maybe we can let you borrow it. There we go. It'll fit for like a week anyway. The thing about baby clothes is some of them you'll get so many of them you'll be like my god when is this baby even gonna wear all of these clothes and some of them
Starting point is 00:35:10 you say my god my baby didn't wear these clothes you'll be like huh never saw you wear that one like you and just certain clothes i mean just like a full grown adult you just have certain clothes that get in your rotation and you stick with them. It's kind of the same thing happens with the baby. You have 10,000 shirts, but they only wear 10. The other 9,000 are at the bottom of the pile. Yes, yes. They're not going to get touched.
Starting point is 00:35:35 Yeah, I'm sure I'll be living that firsthand here in a few months. Just growing up, Tanner. That's all it is, just growing up tanner yep yeah all it is yeah growing up on here we should probably talk about a little bit of lifting stuff though i suppose just a little not much but just a little and that is the follow-up to our jefferson deadlift competition oh yeah we finally got the winners we've announced the winners on yeah at this point the way at this point the winners have existed for what two weeks or so? Yeah, yep.
Starting point is 00:36:07 But you haven't yet really heard our in-depth analysis. Yeah, we haven't got our expert commentary on what went down with this whole thing. Right. All you've seen is just who the winners are. And actually, we've sent out the Jefferson Deadlift League shirts to those winners. So by the time you're hearing this, they would all have those by now. You should actually be seeing people wearing those on instagram but by about now i would think yep but we did have a tough process of picking the winners i think we got about 75 entrants
Starting point is 00:36:34 altogether into the contest which that is a shocking number we we really because this is the first time we've ever done a contest of like this of any kind we're asking people to like do something you know yeah do something in the real world not just online right actually we don't even really do contests in the first place so i not much not much like have we done five in the history of masonomics probably something like that yeah so we don't really do contests anyways but then to ask people like actually leave their phone and do something is kind of a big ask in this day and age right and so when we're talking about it, we legit thought, I don't know, if we can get 10 or so people to do it,
Starting point is 00:37:08 that's probably good. Yeah, we were going to pick 10 winners, and we're like, ah, maybe we'll get 10, and they'll all be winners. Yeah, that's kind of like almost what we discussed. Yeah. And yeah, to get around 70-ish people that all put effort into doing a Jefferson deadlift,
Starting point is 00:37:21 it was really awesome to go through those. Yeah, just the number was cool, of of course that that many people did it but even crazier than that in general how creative and what the lengths that people went to the effort they went into doing these things too that way way way blew our expectations like many fold times out of the water compared to what we would have been. Absolutely. Like we really, I mean, not to knock this one at all, but there was one early on where someone taped Jefferson. They taped $2 bills to the plates. And I'm like, perfect.
Starting point is 00:38:00 Yes, they totally get it. And they totally do. But some people went way extreme with it after that and i was like oh we're actually going there yeah right we're actually going there both both are totally correct answers to the question but some people really took that answer to places that i didn't think were possible yeah so there was really good ones that didn't get to be winners honestly and that that was we actually did we had a pretty lengthy phone call actually to discuss who are the winners.
Starting point is 00:38:29 We had, we both had about five that we were in complete agreeance on. Like these belong in the top. And then there was about 10 to 15 that we could all make it an argument for. And we just, it was, it was really hard to pick those last five.
Starting point is 00:38:43 It was, it actually was. And we tried to do it. We put effort. Like you said said we put effort in to do it we just didn't say yeah there we go there's those we tried to pick the ones that we thought were the 10 best we ultimately decided to pick 11 instead of 10 because we thought the you know we were trying to get number 10 and we just couldn't pick between a couple of them so we said we'll just pick 11 winners instead of 10 but yeah there could have been 20 oh yeah you know easy that were really worthy of winning i think that where it's like man that person was really trying and put it you know they
Starting point is 00:39:16 didn't just walk in that day and be like oh what should we do all right we'll do that and post it yep and just thinking of uh if we want to say honorable mention i i could i could be mixed up on what actually made the cut now but did we did the guy jeff did the guy jefferson deadlifting his wife did he make the cut or not he made the cut okay okay i was gonna say he was i know he was one that we debated for a while ones that didn't make the cut one guy was wearing the full jefferson costume he didn't make it one guy was just wearing a good a really good wig and he had a good a really good coat in there you know he quoted uh uh you know a founding father's quote and like uh sounded like you know did his thomas jefferson voice and yep there didn't get there was another firefighter that had one that didn't make the cut that that was dead lifting like the firefighting
Starting point is 00:40:02 hose which i thought was really cool which was very good but that was the same way where it's like well there's another firefighter one that went even farther above and beyond and that guy the original one even made a comment was like well geez i thought i did good which he did do good yeah there's no doubt about but yet people again took these to some crazy spots so should we talk about the ones that we ended up picking as winners? I think we should. And these are outside of the top two. These aren't really in any particular order. These aren't in any.
Starting point is 00:40:34 We did decide to pick one grand prize winner, and that was. Maybe we should hang out with that grand prize winner. Or do we want to announce the grand prize winner first? Maybe we'll just get it out of the way. Okay, okay. So I do have little titles of each of these. So this one was titled Lumberjacked. And that was by, his name is Ryan Homan
Starting point is 00:40:55 and is at the.homan on Instagram. And if you follow us, I'm sure you've seen this one. It was him out in the woods cutting down trees yeah cutting down he cut he starts it off by cutting down a tree and then he has this barbell set up with plates that he made out of logs he said it weighed about 500 pounds i think and he definitely made some time into making those wooden log plates yeah and that it was just that was one of them where it was like man this guy spent serious this took some time there was nothing accidental about any of this and it was a really cool one too and like the setup with the logs was awesome like i want like those are cool
Starting point is 00:41:38 i'm assuming you probably kept those even because you would think yeah that was cool but the video got a lot of views too it did but he had to be the grand prize winner i think we ultimately decided because of he put so much into that it was just like hard to justify not picking him knowing what he had to have gone through yes to to put that together yeah i mean the whole package was there it was it was it was a great video it was uh the next one i have titled Tandem LaCroix Christmas Jefferson. This was the first one that made me realize, oh, wow, people are taking this to the next level. Yes, and that was, it was one of the earlier ones that came out. Yeah, it was out of the Illinois Syndicate.
Starting point is 00:42:17 It was at Thick underscore Spider-Man and at Ryan Reddick. They're both out of Gonzo Barbell in whatever Illinois, they're the Illinois syndicate, that group of them is. And so what were they doing in that one? They did a tandem. They did a tandem Jefferson, but they had masks on. Did they have shirts on? I can't even remember now.
Starting point is 00:42:39 They had like, what's that? Is that BDM? Is that what you call that? Like they had chains around their neck? Yeah, they had like chains and collars on yeah yeah but yeah they were just might not have had shirts yeah they had a crazy and then they had this tiny little christmas tree with like 12 packs of lacroix on each side yeah that and that really made that the christmas tree and the 12 packs of lacroix i think it was those easter it was those little easter eggs just
Starting point is 00:43:03 tying it all together. It was good. So that one was a pretty easy choice for us to pick as a winner, I think, also. Yep. Then we get to Stone Cold versus Hulkamania. And that was also out of, from the Illinois Syndicate, the guys out of Gonzo Barbell. I mean, those guys are really on our radar now, Tanner. And that was at Daddy Lifts, Matthew, Big Matthew.
Starting point is 00:43:27 And then the only person to be able to claim this, a double winner at Ryan Reddick, also in tandem LaCroix Christmas, appeared in Stone Cold versus Hulkamania. Although I did tell him he's only getting one shirt. Ooh, you just have to put down, there are rules and regulations in this contest. But he can hold the title.
Starting point is 00:43:48 He can enter as many times as he wants. He can hold the title of being the only person to be a double winner of the Mastonomics Jefferson Deadlift League competition contest. That is a very elite group to be in. Yeah, so that one, what went down, Hulk Hogan was performing a conventional
Starting point is 00:44:04 deadlift and Stone Cold jumps in and gives him a Stone Cold stunner and does a Jefferson. And then Stone Cold's a beer. It's just like you would picture it. And that one, there's some time put into that one too. And an Easter egg in that one, there's two Jefferson deadlift shirts taped to the wall behind them in the distance.
Starting point is 00:44:24 I did not even catch that the first few times I watched it. I don't think I caught that until several days later when I went back and watched it. And then I saw them on there. There may be a pair of lift shorts in on that one too. I can't remember about that. Then we got to, this was one of my personal favorites. It was called the Implement Medleyfferson deadlift and this is from at thunder lips underscore susa sosa i never know how to say his last name for for sure but
Starting point is 00:44:51 um it was the implement medley so what he does is starts with the regular barbell just does a i think he has like a plate on the side the weight doesn't even matter he does a single wrap then it cuts the next one he's got an axle bar you know and it titles axle bar across the bottom he does a single rep goes to the next one it's a safety squat bar does a single rep it goes to the last one it's the log and tries to do a rep and it's like running into his legs and his crotch and stuff and what makes it for me is just the look on his face through all of them it's stone cold serious and on the last one the cameraman is even like laugh you know yeah laughing at him and just like his face on that last one and he's
Starting point is 00:45:36 trying to do the log i the first time i watched that i laughed really hard at that one it was just it was just so good to me. Yeah, that was really good. And then we went to the 1,213-pound tandem deadlift. Yeah, which as far as we know, that is now the record for the biggest tandem, isn't it? I believe that. I'm pretty positive that that is the Jefferson deadlift world record tandem. The tandem Jefferson deadlift world record. There you have it, folks.
Starting point is 00:46:02 1,213 pounds. Yeah, this is out of the alabama contingency i feel like the alabama contingency felt a little threatened by everything coming out of the illinois syndicate so kind of a little bit of a war thing going on yes there's the alabama contingency versus illinois syndicate if you live in a different state and want to have a competing chapter we A competing chapter. We are all for it. Just enter your name into the ring and give yourself a nickname, and we will gladly talk about it.
Starting point is 00:46:31 It probably requires a small group of you to all purchase Masonomics stuff. It should require at least two people. Preferably you both lift. And are fans of Masonomics. And are fans of Masonomics. But if you want to start up a chapter, a local Mastanomics chapter, and come up with your own name. We will gladly give you a shout out.
Starting point is 00:46:52 Yeah. So that was Bacon. Local Mastanomics chapter. Maybe we'll do like leather patch jackets for that. We can send us some patches. That was Bacon and Beer Bells, Big Jonathan Oldham, of course, and at best underscore me you ever underscore C. That's Jacob Kilgore.
Starting point is 00:47:11 And they did a 1,213-pound tandem Jefferson deadlift, which is a lot. That is a really big. I think the biggest one I'd seen prior to this was like 1,006 pounds for a tandem Jefferson. I'd seen prior to this was like a thousand and six pounds for a tandem Jefferson and that's over a 600 pound deadlift over a 600 pound Jefferson deadlift each and I've done you know relatively heavy tandem regular deadlifts before and there's some coordination involved just with doing a tandem deadlift yeah yeah and then you add in the like weird because everyone between the legs like their
Starting point is 00:47:45 body is weird like there's like that range where it's like they're trying to straighten it out and somehow they did it that is a lot that is a really heavy deadlift that was impressive and i think then there's they celebrate with some uh shotgunning and beers after that too yep and then i'm assuming after that they squatted or something probably got their squat workout i'm sure i'm sure they did uh then the next one also one that we rated pretty highly we both agreed on this one it was all right up there in the running for uh the grand prize winner actually it was from at kodiak underscore bear and the title for this one was most elaborate setup i did i really liked this yeah this was the one that really caught me off at Kodiak underscore bear. And the title for this one was Most Elaborate Setup.
Starting point is 00:48:26 I did. I really liked this one. This was the one that really caught me off guard the first time I was watching the video. I was like, oh, what is going on here? Yeah, and this was there. He's out of Ode Haugen's training hall in California. And I don't know. How do you explain what was going on in this one?
Starting point is 00:48:43 He just had every slingshot, band, chain, belt, squat attachment. Basically, yeah, belt. Basically, anything you can put on your body in any way related to lifting, he had it on him, and he was trying to do a Jefferson deadlift, and it was so over the top. That's what just made me laugh so hard on that one. It was a good one. That one I think was probably the most viewed
Starting point is 00:49:09 out of the ones we posted on Instagram. That one got a lot of views. And I just want to like picture someone. Share it on several other pages too. Yeah, I just want to picture someone like walking into the gym and seeing that and being like, what? A really funny one about that,
Starting point is 00:49:21 if you watch the video, there's a window behind him and there's a guy that goes by doing farmer's carries, and he doesn't look over. And someone commented, it just made me laugh, he's like, did you notice that guy in the back that's actually working out? I've never noticed him. And you have to watch it sometime.
Starting point is 00:49:39 It's just funny because someone's actually lifting out there, and they probably just watched this person go through it. The kid had to have taken... The people at my my gym like yeah that had to have taken 30 minutes right by the time you get all the stuff out put it all on yeah do the video take all of it off put it all back in every corner of the gym yeah it's gotta it's gotta be a pain in the ass to do that whole thing and he was wearing the huge life shirt in that one next one we had was from north street strength at north street street strength and that was the search and rescue from the fire department out of that one a very uh one of the more elaborate
Starting point is 00:50:13 video editing cinematic yes most cinematic yes that was definitely the most cinematic they they did the most in post editing out of any of the ones that's crafted a story it was a movie it was a very short short the jefferson short film um so what the guy is outside of a door of like the gym room and he's it's it's a fireman and he's like going up to the door and they're talking over there like the walkie-talkie you can hear there yeah they're whatever communication yeah their communication and he said and he's searching for the Jefferson deadlift. And then he's in the room and he's looking through. It's like, I don't know if it's like an infrared.
Starting point is 00:50:51 Yeah, I think that's what it was. Wasn't it? Something like that. And he gets to the Jefferson deadlift and he finds it and he rescues it. Yeah, yeah. So that was a very well put together one, I think. And that did win our fireman category. Yeah, that did take the fireman prize.
Starting point is 00:51:06 Which wasn't necessarily easily done because there was good competition in the fireman category. Then we had Big Jake Heinrich, at Jake underscore hide. And this was the three barbell balance. This one was also pretty spectacular. Yeah, so he was standing on boxes yeah and he had i don't know i can't even remember how the setup went he had a barbell with two barbells hanging off of the barbell but because he was up high enough on boxes the all the barbells were able to like suspend from each other and come from the ground yeah so the two hanging on the so he had a bar with a plate on it and then off of the end of the sleeves of that original bar there was a bar hanging perpendicular with a plate on it so it was actually 405 pounds
Starting point is 00:51:59 too the thing about that is it was 405 pounds of like really hanging awkward weight yeah yeah all moving around and swinging and but i did i did and that also this one was performed at massonomics gym yes so uh kind of a bit of a homer on that one but he did travel all the way from oklahoma just to do it he did travel from oklahoma just to do this just to do no no nothing related to family or anything else just for the gym i did tell him though the most impressive part to me was at the end he jumped off the boxes and he jumped like five feet and didn't break anything yeah and i'm like my god if i did that i would be injured from the landing the impact would destroy me that was a good one, though. Then we get to the buck naked one.
Starting point is 00:52:48 Yeah. And that's from at what's under Corey's kilt. And the joke there is now we know what's under Corey's kilt. And he was, it appeared to be completely naked outside of wearing a pair of socks. Interesting he chose to leave the socks on. You know, you don't want to have dirty feet. No. Right, right. I did like all the comments about the blur and the cleanliness of the barbell yeah there was some really good comments on that one yeah that was a good one then uh don't drop
Starting point is 00:53:18 the wife was the one you you brought up earlier with at Tony underscore Montana one. He, they're in front of a Christmas tree. He's wearing the lift shorts 2.0 and he Jefferson deadlifts his wife, which I did think that that was very creative. It was a good take on it. Yes, it was.
Starting point is 00:53:37 That's another one of those where I'm like, huh, would have never thought of that. Nope. Well done on that one. Then the last one on our list was this, and this wasn't the last one that we chose, just happens to be the last year, was from At The Gorilla Mecca,
Starting point is 00:53:50 and this was the inverted Jefferson Deadlift. And this was also one of my favorites. Yes. The simplicity of it. Yeah, and that's what makes it so good, though. It was so funny. He is upside down, hanging from the bar. He has a barbell in the rack and he is hanging
Starting point is 00:54:07 from it upside down straddling it and he has a band that his legs are pushing up towards the ceiling right and it's really dumb but that is i mean it's perfect it was it was really really funny that one's that one's pretty one of those ones too where i'm just like god i could have i would never have been able to think of something like that oh our our listeners are geniuses um yeah so that's that that was our list of winners they all won uh one of the jefferson deadlift league shirts and a couple stickers and uh the grand prize winner he he won an extra shirt the the original jefferson deadlift and bragging rights yeah and bragging rights for sure of being the first ever jefferson deadlift competition winner overall it was a smash hit uh it was it was really fun for us i think it was really fun
Starting point is 00:54:56 for the people that participated i think it's really fun for all the spectators too i'm surprised that actually there went ended up being some work going into keeping track of all these like trying to share the first time you made that spreadsheet tanner that this is not yeah and then a week without that we would it would have been later it was absolutely necessary right there would i mean if we were actually trying to really pick the ones that were the best we we wouldn't have got it right without being able to review that i don't think yeah it was it was absolutely necessary. Yeah. And we did try to share as many of them as possible between either on the page or in the story.
Starting point is 00:55:31 I don't, honestly not sure if we got every single one, but we got a vast majority of them. So trying to show the appreciation for all the people that went to the time to enter. Yeah. So thank you guys. It was an incredible turnout, incredible participation, and the whole thing was really fun for everyone involved.
Starting point is 00:55:48 So thank you to everyone that participated. For sure. And we do, I don't want to give too much away, but we do have a few more contests planned throughout the year. Yes. And I know for one, I am very excited. I think Tanner, you are too. And I think everyone else is going to be excited as these pop up.
Starting point is 00:56:06 So we're going to spread them out. We don't want to just turn everything into a contest, but be on the lookout. There will be some more fun opportunities for people to- Throughout 2020, we've got some planned. Yes. Throughout 2020, there will be opportunities to get in on the action. And they won't all be, you know, it's not going to be, well, let's do a jefferson deadlift competition again we've got all different some different new ideas to get yeah and different ways to get you if this wasn't the competition for you yep we've got some different things that
Starting point is 00:56:33 probably at least one of these coming up yeah maybe fit what you're into a little better right right for sure and the prizes could be even more high stakes what that could be that's up to you to decide but that may be the funnest part of the whole thing is it's all to win a t-shirt yeah you know i mean it's i believe it's a cool t-shirt and like uh if you're into it you probably will really like it and stuff but it is at the end of the day it is more just the it's really the breaking yeah it's really oh yeah it's the breaking to be a part of it yeah and just one up everyone else yeah yeah better than them yeah yeah for sure we are getting down there on time tanner okay so we better hit up some overrated underrated is that what you're trying to sell me i think so all right but uh we get to
Starting point is 00:57:18 review last week's which well we recorded it much farther in time than last week but oh yeah yeah yeah for so you might not even remember these topics i did play along today so okay yeah you got to go back through them but i had to took me it was like a trip down memory lane yeah last week's uh number one topic on overrated underrated was nest thermostats you said overrated i remember i remember that for sure the people agreed at 62 so not a huge margin but they were right with me yep yep oh then we went to lucky charms you said i said overrated do you know what they come out to on this one i think probably pretty even 50 50 wow that's our second one of those dead split 50 50 wow that that seems hard to believe that it's actually an even number and like instagram isn't just rounding the percentage you know yeah and it's funny too how much once these numbers get set they do not even though many
Starting point is 00:58:19 more people are voting throughout the day but like the trend is almost early yeah very early and it just doesn't change i guess it's just universal yeah um trap bar deadlifts you said underrated the people agreed 57 underrated could have seen that one going either way i could have too yeah i really wasn't sure on that one then last one was bailey's irish cream i it took me a while but i said overrated and people agreed 57 god so you're basically all agreed with the people except like a clean sweep on that lucky charms the people were more on the fence than you were you were pretty uh i was pretty decisive in that yeah and they they came in at the 50 50 so that covers last week, but the topic at hand of course is this week's overrated or underrated segment. You remember the rules?
Starting point is 00:59:10 I got the rules down. I guess I can't give away too much of this yet, but we do have maybe some twists to overrated, underrated coming in the future. We've got some ideas coming. We've been doing some planning over here, guys. And part of the exciting part about that is it's really going to give a reason to need to go through the rules.
Starting point is 00:59:27 It absolutely will. We will have to, you know, almost every time we will have to touch on those rules. Yeah, the rules will be making it come. Right. Because we haven't really read the rules very much lately. You know, we did it so much. We just kind of stopped. But if things work out like we have planned one of the another new thing for 2020 is there
Starting point is 00:59:46 maybe some changes in overrated underrated yep but that's all we can really tell you now that is all we can say for now but it'll be exciting but back to this week's uh overrated or underrated topic number one snapple snapple snapple i mean right away my brain wants to say overrated but I also want to be like does anyone even drink Snapple anymore so then maybe it's like they are underrated because I like it if I have a topic and the first reaction is
Starting point is 01:00:16 yeah Snapple when was the last time you had a Snapple 1990 I don't think I've had one since the year 2000 like When was the last time you had a Snapple? 1990. I don't think I've had one since the year 2000. Like, I remember being a little kid and having one. Yeah.
Starting point is 01:00:35 Snapples, but do you remember a time when Snapple was really popular? I feel like I do. Wasn't there? Yeah, I think. In like the late 90s, early 2000s? Yeah, I think Snapple was like one of the. I feel like I remember seeing commercials on TV for them. It well may have been the lacroix of its day 20 people were just chugging snapples at work having now people are going to be laughing about lacroix yeah that's right i forgot about lacroix people liked that for a while oh boy um it's just like it's just like lemonades and teas and well i was just even gonna say like
Starting point is 01:01:07 what are their flavors i just think like peach tea something like that yeah that's just kind of what it was right yeah that's i guess so do you remember jones sodas oh yes yes do those exist i don't know didn't they have something on the cap underneath too they all had it was either that or was no snapples had the thing on the cap oh okay well i think jones sodas did too though didn't they did it but but snapple had the has the bigger glass bottle yeah and jones soda was a twist like a beer bottle yeah yeah and they always had like different pictures on their packaging black and white photos and stuff right that's i've not seen one of those in so long i don't know that could be an overrated but to me those almost come from like the same era where i feel like they kind of had
Starting point is 01:01:47 a thing going on yeah in that early 2000s maybe late 90s too i don't even remember the time frame for sure i wonder if snapple had a lot of sugar in it i don't know yeah but the beverage that's what's crazy is like the beverage market seems like it's so huge and snapple i feel like doesn't exist anymore so what did they do that is not keeping them relevant it's probably a case study somewhere because they really fell off the map i think yeah wow so this goes back to are they overrated or underrated maybe the fact that they can't be they have to be owned by someone like coke or pepsi right you'd sure think so that i yeah i maybe not you know i don't know like i want to say overrated but who would ever say
Starting point is 01:02:32 snapple's overrated like they're not rated like their rating doesn't exist anymore they're below the rating i i think with that logic i mean everyone is going to say we're rated right but i think i have to say they're underrated because you can't say they're rated too high right how could you say snapples are way overrated what is the last time you've heard someone talk what was the last time you've seen anyone like let we we had determined neither of us has drank one in probably 20 years when was the last time you have seen anyone carrying or purchasing one i'm trying to think last time i saw one in the convenience store and if they if they are in a store my brain just goes like this and goes right by like it doesn't even register in my brain as being something right right
Starting point is 01:03:12 i guess i gotta say underrated all right that's i think i think that's a that's fair i think that means you should drink one but i think they're underrated because no one knows they exist anymore would you be interested in trying one i them? I would totally try one. All right. Overrated or underrated? Minesweeper. Minesweeper. Do you ever learn how to actually play Minesweeper?
Starting point is 01:03:34 Yes, I do know how to play. You do know how to play. I played quite a bit of Minesweeper. Is the number just tied to there is within that many spots there is a thing what it whatever the number is there is uh one two however many blocks surround that number that's how many mines are in the blocks around that block that are in touching distance of that block that's how many mines there are and you use the flags to mark off where you know or where you think yeah but you can figure it out to where you know that they're at because you know that there's a three.
Starting point is 01:04:09 So you know that there's three. Are you allowed to pick up and remove flags? Yes, you can take flags off if you realize you made a mistake. And then just the goal is just to finish the level. And when you double-click the mouse. So when you flag, if you've got a three on your block and you flag three mines, then you double-click your mouse on that three and it clicks all of the
Starting point is 01:04:31 surrounding blocks that are not flagged as minds. And by click, I mean, instead of, you know, to play mine manually click. Yeah. That's how you play mine super fast.
Starting point is 01:04:41 That's how you, okay. That's how you clear the level. Does mine sweeper, is it still on every PC that's how you clear does mind sweeper is it still on every pc i don't know that's a really good question because i've been on a mac for i don't know 12 years now and i don't think mind sweeper has ever been on a mac i if it is it's been hidden or i've never known about it but i don't think it's on a mac i don't think it's on our mac i haven't played mind sweeper since i had like a computer like probably the computer i grew up with as a kid
Starting point is 01:05:09 right minesweeper on it i know for a fact it did never knew how to play it because i was too dumb as a kid to actually figure out the rules and i feel like computer games that also didn't tell you anything unless you had a physical book right to explain it uh so my experience with minesweeper is very low other than clicking around and just hoping things don't blow up but i do think it's an underrated game like that seems like the perfect like just little like mobile game for things now i'm surprised it's not a bigger thing i'm gonna say underrated on that underrated on yeah i haven't played it for quite a while either but i did always like it there was beginner intermediate and expert and it was the size of the
Starting point is 01:05:43 size panel and then the how you played it is it records your best time oh so like that's why it was really a like trying to beat your best score your best time so you could get that feeling where you're like i gotta speed it up but there is the i mean there is the element of just dumb random luck right because you can or is it some well at the so to start, there is, because you have to just click somewhere. Yeah. Like to get a game started. But once it gets going, not really.
Starting point is 01:06:11 Do they start to open up? Yeah, things start to open up. When there's not mines in... If there's no mines touching a block, when you clear a space, it clears all of them until it gets to where there's... That's how long it's been since I played. I don't even really remember how it went.
Starting point is 01:06:23 But you can get to the point, even if you're playing it correctly and you're flagging the mines you can sometimes get stuck where there could be multiple possible options right and then you have to take a couple guesses like on the beginner and usually doesn't come up but if you play like experts it does get to the point where you have to take some stabs usually yeah that makes sense that makes sense yeah i think i do think mind sweepers underrated okay underrated on mind sweeper overrated or underrated robert de niro robert de niro have you seen the irishman yet i have seen the irish i have not seen it yet it's it's a hard when next time you got five hours just sit down and watch that's what i'm saying it's a hard commitment to know like okay do i hours, just sit down and watch it. That's what I'm saying. It's a hard commitment to know like, okay, do I have three and a half hours to do?
Starting point is 01:07:08 I think I will. But also, if I'm three hours in and I get in a hurry, I'm going to be really annoyed then. You know? So that's why it's so hard to just block out that time. I had to watch it in two. Did you? Yeah. I didn't.
Starting point is 01:07:28 did you yeah i didn't um and you know about the the i don't know if reverse aging or but like the technology they used i don't know because robert de niro is old uh-huh in real life he's like i don't know if he's 70 or how old he is but in the show he plays a guy that's like 40 oh i didn't know that at all and i didn't know that. Yeah, it's like groundbreaking the technology they use to anti-age him. It's got to be similar to what, remember Westworld with Anthony Hopkins? It's got to be something probably similar to that because they make him look really young in that too. Right, and that's what they did with De Niro. There are, you know, I don't know that it's perfect
Starting point is 01:08:01 because there are still some, he moves in a certain – like old people don't move like – Move like old people? Right. Yeah, they do. They do. So there was a couple spots where I noticed that where I'm like, oh, that – All geriatric.
Starting point is 01:08:12 Right, right, right. But, yeah, I like it, but I also have a little bit of patience for movies. Yeah. Oh, I can totally dig in and be patient. I don't have a problem with the pacing thing. Robert De Niro. All right, looking at his career as a whole. I mean, you've got to say in the early days,
Starting point is 01:08:30 he had some pretty, I mean, about as iconic as you can get for roles. You know, between Raging Bull and Taxi Driver and all that stuff. He had some, I mean, that's just two. And his list of, what what a hundred movies but right uh he's probably underrated what and what about meet the fuck i was gonna say and then you can't forget the landmark films meet the fuckers uh i did you were you ever were you a fan of those movies i've seen them i guess i mean like i've only watched i haven't like it's not a movie that if i see it's on like well i don't even have cable like that but like i don't really it's not something i would re-watch the thing that
Starting point is 01:09:09 i always struggle with like those there's definitely funny parts those movies yeah they are they are funny but the thing i always struggle with from a movie standpoint is when one movie the whole point of the story is to just all of the other characters are making fun of the main character like that's all it is and just not even just making fun but like being assholes yeah and i always struggle with movies that are like that that's kind of how that movie is you're just like all right here's like a perfectly normal guy as i mean as far as you know as a viewer right and all everyone else does is like the world just shits on him over and over and over and you're supposed to like laugh.
Starting point is 01:09:45 It's like, what did this person do that I think they deserve all of this? That's where I always struggle with those movies. So it's funny, but those aren't my favorite. I still think Robert De Niro is underrated. I think he's underrated. He's a great actor. Yeah. I mean, but maybe is he too great of an actor that he is overrated?
Starting point is 01:10:02 I still think he is. I think a lot of people don't know, like younger people probably don't even know who he is anymore because he's not involved in stuff like he used to be no but he's getting old right that's he's underrated underrated you gotta cherish him we lost video we did lose power i didn't even notice but okay last topic for overrated underrated business cards business cards right away from a business standpoint i will say business cards the necessity of them is very dependent on what business you're in and what role you're in in business but you have an interesting perspective on this i have an interesting perspective because i designed business cards um i actually designed my own personal business card and over the course of the last two and a half years if
Starting point is 01:10:45 i've given out 40 of them i would be shocked yeah i just usually my business works heavily on referrals so usually people are reaching out to me and the conversation starts on email and by the time we get to meeting in person if that even happens uh we've already talked through email or we've had multiple phone calls all the information is there already we don't even need a business card anymore and also like when people give me business cards i'm just like yeah what do i where do i even put this can't you just send me like an email or text me just so i have your stuff there and then it's in my phone i don't have to manually put it in it's um it's one of those things that's a necessary evil yeah it is because some people just like that's
Starting point is 01:11:27 how you get their stuff from them but they still probably are a little overrated a little bit i i it's not like it was 20 years ago where like a cool business card could maybe do something yeah i don't know maybe a cool business card could do something now but i think that your efforts are better spent on something else i still do recommend that people get them it yeah if anything it just makes you look legit and that's a huge part of business is just looking the part right you know so get them but also realize they don't do much they're a tool you have to have them but don't be thinking the success of your business. Don't put the farm on your business card. Don't think the success of your business hinges on your business card.
Starting point is 01:12:12 Yeah, right. Just get something simple. The information's on there. Don't fill it up with a bunch of other crap. Just your contact info, your logo. Let it be. A picture of your family. A picture of your family.
Starting point is 01:12:26 Four of your favorite sayings. A list of every service your business does um yeah just all the stuff that people can catch just things that people love to just look at in their spare time yeah um yeah don't do that but business cards are they still are overrated though okay overrated all right so that wraps up our overrated uh underrated segment which also brings us to the close of 197 we didn't talk a lot about our we talked all about the jefferson deadlift but the jefferson deadlift league shirt is available for sale you know we don't have a lot of them because we didn't order a lot of them and we gave a lot of them away but now is your chance if you want one of those i don't know that it's going to be a shirt that will
Starting point is 01:13:03 keep restocked all the time on the league probably not this will be a limited edition so this is your chance if you want one of those. I don't know that it's going to be a shirt that will keep restocked all the time on the league shirt. Probably not. This will be a limited edition. Yes, so this is your chance to get one of those. We also restocked the Crispy Boy banner because we sold out of those really quickly, and we're actually kind of selling out of them quickly again now. But maybe there's some of those by the time you listen to this.
