What did we officially decide we're talking about today? Are we going to talk about some podcasts on the podcast? Yeah, we actually have the big heavy hitting topic this week is podcasts, strength podcasts specifically. And the most illustrious list in the strength podcast market, our world, which is ours, that we update annually.
Starting point is 00:03:13 Much like the rules for overrated and underrated, which are a living, breathing thing, our list of the best strength training podcasts is a living, breathing thing because we update it every year because usually about half of those that we have on there drop off and go away and are no longer podcasts and i kind of like to think of it more like a jd power and associates award whereas a new awards are given out every single year it doesn't matter what happened in the past years every year is a new year and there's a whole new batch of awards ready to be given right it's It's just that Chevy is always on the list no matter what. Yeah, I mean, there are certain rules to these awards,
Starting point is 00:03:49 but yeah, besides that, anything can happen. Massonomics is kind of like the Chevy in this list then because we're always on the list. We get that a lot. I think people do say we are like the Chevy of the podcast world. Lifting podcasts, yeah. Outside of that, we do have a few strength updates to talk about, some of our own podcast stuff to talk about,
Starting point is 00:04:10 and I don't know, maybe some fast food dessert or something too. It just, you know, it depends on what there is for time. There's been a really high demand for fast food dessert talk, and we do have actually something in the works for that more specifically, maybe not even in this episode, but we dedicate dedicate a full episode to it in the future that's something for everyone to look forward to i think yeah so there's more than just apple pies out there yeah i mean apple pies mcdonald's apple pies are probably still the most important but there is more out there yeah we'll we'll get into that world sometime oh yeah what about the do the dilemma
Starting point is 00:04:48 we've been in is do we share the road to 200 update early on in the show or do we hold it off but we also kind of hold off overrated underrated so yeah i think maybe we should jump into it because i i'm starting to get anxious about these updates even because you keep a close eye on it, and I always let this be my surprise of the week. So I'm curious as to what's happened in the last seven days. Okay, so do you remember what happened last week, what number we got up to? Was it like 172 or something?
Starting point is 00:05:20 170. I think it was 170. Okay. I think it was 170. I think we went from like 160 to 170. Either way, it was like the most reviews we'd ever gotten in a week. It was a new record for the most reviews we ever got in a week. And the challenge was to see if this week's reviewers could outdo last week's reviewers.
Starting point is 00:05:38 And it's very close. The update is they did a very good job. I'm not sure if they actually surpassed a number or not, but they were very, very close. Because I think we were at 170 last week. We went from like 162 to 170. Yeah, that sounds right. Maybe an increase of 8 to 10, somewhere in there.
Starting point is 00:05:56 This week we are now at, do you have a guess based off of what I've said here? 188. I'm sorry, 178. I meant eight more. Yeah, 177 this week is what we're at. That's another solid week. A very good week. And there actually were several that popped up that I'm able to read here, too.
Starting point is 00:06:16 Even better. Get that ready, yeah. So I guess the point being, they did answer the call. We put it out there as a request for everyone, and they came through pretty big time, I'd say. I would. Yeah. Okay.
Starting point is 00:06:33 So we'll go through. I got a few here to read. First one is titled Crispy, and it's a five-star review, and it's from Hollajam71. We'll also see if anyone has as good of a a name as what was the one uh something's thick boy 69 yeah yeah yeah yeah this one's holla jam 71 i don't know if he takes the best name title yet but he says this year's jd power and associates award for best in class you guys make beer labels and lifting shirts better than they are in real
Starting point is 00:07:06 life but that's a great tie-in to uh what we do yeah yep and besting best the best in class jd power and associates award not just anyone gets that you know it was like almost two minutes ago that we were talking about that yeah yes yes okay next one is from viking of georgia so we've had like do you think the viking of georgia knows the president of north dakota that's that's what i'm wondering if it's related if there's a relation there that that type of name that it's like uh if he's playing off the president also did we discover this week that the president of north dakota lives in texas that's what if it's in fact the same president of North Dakota, because there was someone in our podcast reviews claiming to be president of North Dakota. And now this week there was someone that made an order off of the website that also claimed to be the president of North Dakota.
Starting point is 00:07:59 I'm just wondering if it's the same president. You know, North Dakota, it's a pretty busy state. So I could see there being two presidents. Multiple presidents. Yeah, that's very possible. And one of them living in Texas, obviously. Well, yeah. You got to have like the foreign diplomat, you know?
Starting point is 00:08:14 Yeah. Okay. So Viking of Georgia titles his The Crispy Boys, five out of five stars. He says, I do have a Jeep, but my true social status identifier is doing Jefferson deadlifts in my lift shorts on my porch gym while listening to the Massonomics podcast. If your druthers dictate a calmer setting for listening, lean back in your favorite sitting chair, pop open a hot LaCroix, unbox a delicious apple pie, and prime your ears. Hope everybody keeps tuning in. Soon you'll understand how to get strong how to stay strong and how to use your strength they make things better than they are in
Starting point is 00:08:49 real life i think highly underrated that guy gets it he hit all the bases there it was that was great you know not only did he get the kaz quote in he also got the donnie quote yeah maybe almost maybe still just as cool but slightly less known the donnie quote that we make things better than they are in real life you could say that that is an underrated quote that's true maybe that's what he's referring to his last uh words are highly underrated i don't know if he's talking about us in the podcast in general or the donnie thompson quote he's just layering this so many levels, it's hard to know. There are a lot. I like that he has a porch gym,
Starting point is 00:09:30 and I also like that he said a hot LaCroix. With an apple pie. Yep. Okay. Next one is five stars, and it's from ZeroCool05, and his title is Good Background Noise, and his text here says, Voices and i like pie all right the apple pie that damned apple pie i've been thinking a lot about the apple pie ever since we started talking about it here i haven't had one yet i can tell you the idea of
Starting point is 00:10:03 getting one crosses my mind way more than it ever has in my entire life which was like once before yeah okay next one here is from andrew baker five out of five stars his title is this is a podcast and he says i actually really like that title right there yeah yes out of all the podcasts we're one of them um he says this podcast is a podcast it helped me learn about people who weigh more than refrigerators that's a that's a throwback to uh who weighs more of course oh yeah we haven't played that game for a while but he says it helped me learn about people who weigh more than refrigerators i found new love in the form of apple pie that comes in a small rectangular box and it gives me reason to pay homage to my founding fathers five stars two jd power and associates awards in customer satisfaction would recommend. Great review. Great review.
Starting point is 00:11:07 Last one for the day. This is from Ol' Hickory Barbell. Five out of five stars, and his title is Yep. And Ol' Hickory Barbell says, I mean, I'm sure there's something better I could listen to, but those things don't have lift shorts. If you're a silly goose, you'll probably be okay listening to this podcast.
Starting point is 00:11:27 Thanks for what you do with your podcast and all the rest. Wow. Very good. The inside jokes, the backhanded compliments, they were all there this week. What do you think the biggest inside joke of the Mastonomics podcast is? Well, it's quickly becoming the apple pies. And even the cast quotes really making a strong appearance lately the cast obviously the cast quote has been
Starting point is 00:11:53 around much longer than the apple pie but the cast quote just continues to gain momentum um look the lacroix has been a long-standing thing it's maybe taking a backseat lately because we're not in the same room so we don't get to play what's in the can like we used to I mean that'll come back eventually we'll we'll get back and maybe LaCroix's will surge more but yeah without a doubt as of late apple the McDonald's apple pie is the front runner the clear leader like yeah right and with of course lift shorts maybe, lift shorts and Jefferson deadlifts also being in the conversation. Yeah, those old lists always hang around,
Starting point is 00:12:30 but the apple pie has been the rookie of the year so far. Yes, that's a good award for the McDonald's apple pie. It doesn't have the track record that those other ones do, but it is rookie of the year, I think. Yeah, yeah. Tanner, okay, so where are we at then the official count 170 177 177 so the the gauntlet's been laid down by these last two two weeks uh these last two groups of people have both really been gone above and beyond it's been our two biggest week for five star reviews ever we're now within 23 measly reviews of hitting on the road our goal of 200 yeah hashtag road to 200
Starting point is 00:13:13 and then we all know what happens yeah we all i mean we're just being a dead horse with explaining all the things that happen when we get to 200 like i i feel bad even continuing to explain all the things that happen when we get to 200. I feel bad even continuing to explain all the great things that happen when we get to 200. Yeah, so yeah, we don't need to touch on that, but we'll just say continue to leave us the reviews. We love getting those. We've got to get to 200, and they've been great so far. And while you're at it, if you also enjoy the podcast,
Starting point is 00:13:41 you can always hop over to the website and become a supporting member at either the Lift Shorts or or the lacroix level depending on what your current finances are here's the thing my thought now do does there need to be a third level uh and i would be think be considering that that level would almost need to be the cheapest level and it's almost uh say if we had a running joke where it's a fairly inexpensive item that people purchase almost like a consumable of the dessert variety i was gonna say do we need an apple pie level to be added yet i'm wondering if we could set up an apple pie level of supporting membership i like that i like that i i think that needs to happen
Starting point is 00:14:23 so yeah if you're listening to this, check on the website now. There should be an apple pie supporting level of the podcast too. For just the price of an apple pie, you can symbolically support the Masonomics podcast. Symbolically and financially. Yes, right, right, right. That makes a lot of sense. I mean, I think we're probably stupid not to have an Apple Pie level of supporting membership. Yep, I'm typing that into our to-do list here, Tanner, so we don't forget to add the Apple Pie supporter level.
Starting point is 00:14:55 We have seen a few more people come in as supporting members over the last week, though, and that's really cool. though and that that's really cool um it's it's uh it really is humbling to think that we have this ridiculous show that we've done done now for i think this is the 216th episode that there's 214 short episodes is all right that there's actually people out there that are that like it enough that'll say yeah i'll give you a few dollars a month like for you to keep doing it and honestly it doesn't make any sense to me but if people want to support us i'm not going to argue with them you know who it doesn't make sense to my wife it's gonna say probably yours yes our lives if we try to explain that to them that there's people that are willing to do that. You mean nothing is exchanged?
Starting point is 00:15:46 No goods are bought? Nope. Yeah, I don't get it. Yeah, that's basically how that conversation went. So people are really listening to that. I thought you guys were just sitting down there in your basements talking to yourself for that long. There was a lifting event that actually did take place here recently that was a log and it was a log world log press world record attempt of 230 kilos by
Starting point is 00:16:15 luke stoltman and i guess we'll get the spoiler out there right away he did not get it but was he did very very close very close it was uh far less publicized than the thor deadlift right like did you see a whole lot about it less like i didn't know i knew it was going to happen sometime i missed the actual date and then i saw videos after the after the fact i didn't know it even me too i i'm in the exact same boat and i use instagram quite a bit through massonomics and follow almost exclusively people that lift and i think i even follow almost as in tune as you can possibly be yeah like i know that there's people that are more you know that are more into strongman and that would have like had it on the radar and probably marked it on their calendar but i'm pretty you know i follow the whole thing pretty closely here and it passed me by and i was like oh that did happen i guess
Starting point is 00:17:08 but really it didn't happen is the thing is what you're saying right yeah yeah it really did not but it was i mean it was as close of a miss as you can have it was right there yeah as far as the lift goes it looks like he cleans it really easy like which it it makes you almost not realize that it's like the way he cleans it makes you not understand how hard it would be to clean a 500 pound log like you know like like he does that where it's like the clean is to him almost looks like an afterthought for how easy cleaning that is um i think he had his right arm locked out when i watched i watched a couple times and his right arm was locked out it's just he couldn't lock out his
Starting point is 00:17:50 left right yep yep the left was just just as short short of making it yeah it's other notes as i thought it's weird it's surprising to me that he does like dips twice like he does almost like a psych out you know he gets it cleaned and gets it stood up and he does like dips twice like he does almost like a psych out you know he gets it cleaned and gets it stood up and he does like this half dip first i'm like just you know i can log press half of what he does you know like nowhere in comparison to the amounts of weight that he's doing but to me when i'm towards my heavier weights like i wouldn't want to do that second uh uh or you know like go like just any any extra motion at all right um but also really interesting that z was the the current record holder is the judge was the judge of of the competition and did you see
Starting point is 00:18:40 yeah was he like a Zoom call to judge it? Yeah, and you could see like they had the video I watched had like the picture in picture of Z down in the corner. Is that what you saw too? Yeah, that's what I saw too, yeah. And just a stone cold face Z the whole time. Did you notice that? Yeah. He was all business there.
Starting point is 00:19:03 There is no doubt about yeah my thing on that is i think everyone would agree or no one has any reason to not think that z is probably as professional as they come uh in strongman and that sort of thing and would would try to be unbiased as much as possible but damn if and and he didn't get the lift i'm not saying there's any any doubt luke did not get the lift and of course you know and, and he didn't get the lift. I'm not saying there's any, any doubt Luke did not get the lift. And of course, you know, it was obvious he didn't get the lift, but what if it would have been really close? Like, do you want the current record holder being the judge? Well, and then being on a video call too. Yeah. There could be the slightest. I mean, the world record can be the difference between that split-second delay of being locked out and not getting the down call in time.
Starting point is 00:19:48 That's a really good point. And also, for as unbiased as he is probably more unbiased than I would be or like your average person, maybe. Maybe that's even just giving him too much credit because i think you're going if you are the record holder for as excited as you are about someone else doing well you don't want someone to beat your record right well it's just if you flip it it's so funny to think what if eddie was the head judge for yeah right you know right like we know he wouldn't do that but it was it's just funny to think of it that way yeah yeah but he didn't get it it was it couldn't have been much closer interesting thing though that record is quite the the long-standing record at this point with a lot
Starting point is 00:20:33 of people wanting to break it and taking opportunities to break it and still not being able to break it it really shows how good z was or is or probably was at overhead pressing especially the log press like he they still with as hard as people are trying cannot beat that record i think that is the the big takeaway here is how difficult that one has been because we're just seeing deadlift records fall all the time in powerlifting and even strongman you know like eddie's yeah was an insane record but what are we at two years later three years later like that one fell and yeah the log one as many attempts as there's been on it no one can seem to get it i think he's had the record for like 10 or 15 years or something like that too which um if you take like the sports of power
Starting point is 00:21:21 lifting and strongman or anything what records really have lasted that long you know i yeah well especially once you consider i don't know how long people have kept track of the heaviest log but that has to be approaching like at least a quarter of the lifetime that that record has ever existed right that that's a good point especially in strong yeah strongman not having records as long as power lifting even does yeah a majority z has probably held the record of the heaviest long press for just like what you said a huge portion of the time that that's even been a record that's funny to think he's a man he's ahead of his time it does look like the stoltman could break it on a different given day it doesn't look like it's everman could break it on a different given day.
Starting point is 00:22:06 It doesn't look like it's ever going to be easy, but like it's sure as close as he got you. I mean, that, that was so close. Like it was just like, I wouldn't be, if someone said like that record will be broken six months from now, I'd be like, yeah, I mean, I can see that. But also if it's two more years, I would also be like, yeah, that makes sense too.
Starting point is 00:22:24 Yeah. Yeah. Do you think that, I don't know, but also if it's two more years i would also be like yeah that makes sense too yeah yeah me i what do you think that um i don't know that the more we talk about it i'm like that's almost like you know the the deadlift gets so much props and stuff like that but z's on that log seems to be like the most impressive to thing just most impressive record to me just based on the fact that people cannot break it like they try as they might they cannot break it yep yep yeah who knows when it'll fall so there's more of those events coming up soon uh i know the luke stoltman at or uh tom stoltman atlas stone one is coming up soon i'm sure i won't watch that one live or anything either but i'll be excited to see what he does that's almost like of course he's like a certainty that he's going to re-break his record oh yeah interesting there
Starting point is 00:23:08 is to see how heavy he goes right yeah we're gonna see like a 650 pound stone or something that's i've heard like 300 kilograms might be what he does which is a 660 so wow in which we watched brian shaw break the record like a few years ago with like a hundred. Yeah. Like a hundred pounds less than six 60. Yeah. Yeah. That's shattering that record.
Starting point is 00:23:32 Yeah. Right. Right. Makes you wonder is 700 just around the corner with that. Probably you, you would think so. At least for him. I don't know if anyone else is 700 pound deadlift is like nothing to scoff at and to think that it's right.
Starting point is 00:23:53 Yeah. Yeah. Uh, Tanner. don't know if anyone else is 700 pound deadlift is like nothing to scoff at and to think that it's right yeah yeah uh tanner have you uh got it i got to check in on you weekly have you started watching the last dance yet i have not but it is it has concluded now yep and i have found out for sure it's not going to come out on netflix so i am going to buy the espn uh whatever it is i have to buy for a month and get it i would almost think by the time we come back next i will have started to have you started it i am on episode nine so i'm almost done oh wow it's it's a good i i'm not the world's biggest basketball fan or or basketball in the 90s like i didn't follow it super close being that i was you know only a few years old at the time but yeah it's really good i like it a lot probably one of the things that blew has blown my mind the most is on just one of the many things but they talk about his shoe deal with nike like they were
Starting point is 00:24:43 hoping i'm gonna get the numbers wrong here but it nike like they were hoping i'm gonna get the numbers wrong here but it was something like they were hoping to i can't even remember what they said they signed him for and they were hoping it would account for like three million or eight million in sales over like three years it was something like that and in the first year it did 120 million so that is an insane number looking at that part as far as endorsements go and they also say that at that time you didn't really endorse basketball players like the way nike was trying to like that's something you did with like golfers and tennis players but not not really basketball players and then on to on top of just all of the crazy basketball stuff too you know they had like
Starting point is 00:25:19 all of his iconic shots in there and the whole team component and everything so yeah i've i've enjoyed watching that it's a it's a good documentary it's solid has your wife watched it with you or she's watched all of them with me too because i could be completely wrong i'm under the assumption that she's probably less of a basketball fan and knew much less of the basketball basketball in the 90s but does she still find it interesting oh yeah she still finds it interesting there's a few episodes where she's like okay i don't care about this as much but um for the most part she basically hasn't complained at all she she's had no problem watching it she's enjoyed it yeah i'm really looking i was basket you know although i would have over their second run
Starting point is 00:25:59 but you know their second three championships that's when i really i don't remember the first three all that well i was aware of basketball at that time but over their second i really got into it because basketball nba basketball was the first sport that i really started caring about you know like even though maybe eventually i got more interested in football basketball was definitely nba basketball in the mid to late 90s and into the early 2000s was the thing I enjoyed watching the most by far so I am still really excited to watch it there's a lot of cool a lot of uh interesting interesting personalities that make up like those people on his team and the teams that they were playing at those point in time yes for sure for sure I thought one of the parts that was really funny
Starting point is 00:26:41 uh is what they're talking about when he's making the transition back from baseball to basketball and how it went pretty quick. And I thought it was so funny how it's like everyone's kind of just like ragging on. They're like, he can't come back and play. He's been playing baseball. He's not in any shape at all. Like, like if you're a baseball player, you're in the worst shape in the world. player you're in the worst shape in the world like right yeah i think i think even with all these things that that's conditioning and and your shape and your strength has changed over time like probably the average baseball player's physique from i don't know the 90s to now depending on
Starting point is 00:27:14 the steroid air and all that i guess but just the fact that's like right he's in he goes we told him like if you start training for baseball your body's gonna change you'll never be able to play basketball again and he said no let me do the baseball conditioning and and how much they make a point of like baseball players almost like they're not even athletes you know right um turns out they ended up being pretty wrong about that though he comes back and is immediately still the best basketball player in the world again for years but just about yeah yeah yeah did did they uh cover dan bell at all how he was a ball boy for a game of the chicago bulls no you know i kept looking out for it but i didn't i didn't see dan bell anywhere uh that's unfortunate i was hoping he made a cameo in there yeah i was i was just
Starting point is 00:28:01 hoping i'd get lucky and be like yep oh that's definitely a baby Dan Bell right there. Did they show any clips of Michael or any of the Bulls players in the gym where it looks like they're working really hard and then they're actually benching like 185 or something like that? Actually, they had some clips of Michael repping out. I want to say it was 205 on the bench, and I was impressed. The guy was like 6'5", 6'6". out i want to say it was 205 on the bench and i was impressed because anytime you see a basketball player benching it's the most ridiculous looking thing because the range of motion makes no sense it's so far it's longer than most people's deadlift you know it's like yeah they showed a lot of time in the gym a lot of lifting gloves were worn yeah yeah yeah yeah especially in the
Starting point is 00:28:43 90s yeah it also makes you realize that how far gyms and weightlifting equipment have come in what uh 15 20 years yeah whereas you look at it's like god most high school gyms are nicer than the pro gym that we're the chicago bulls yeah yeah yeah um also interesting like i haven't watched it but i just know michael it's you know notoriously burned the candle at both ends as far as a professional athlete perspective as far as being the best professional athlete in the world at the time and the guy was out you know staying up all night gambling and like doing i don't know how much they talk about in the
Starting point is 00:29:21 documentary and that sort of thing but now like leBron James does everything in the world to try to like recovery related right like and to bring his body into peak performance and Michael's like yeah that's you know also shows like the the freak of nature he was and could do whatever he wanted and still be way better than everyone else they do make a point right away though of him saying when he first came to the Bulls how they were basically like the trash team of the league and one of the reporters called them like the chicago like traveling cocaine circus because it was like a known fact all the players were like doing cocaine and drinking and smoking and he even talks about he's like oh yeah at halftime people would be like smoking cigarettes and drinking and
Starting point is 00:29:59 it is it is surprising the number of times though one of the things that did surprise me a lot was how often he is smoking a cigar. Yeah. Like you don't see, you might see someone like LeBron or someone like that now. All right, they win a championship. They might have a cigar. But you don't just casually always see them smoking a cigar. He is casually just smoking cigars. Yep, yep, yep.
Starting point is 00:30:22 I'm excited to watch it. Yep, I will recommend it, Tanner. So you don't got to worry. It's not bad in case you were concerned about that. Just don't ruin it for me. At the time, he was working for Image Barbell building gym equipment. Around 1976, a local machine shop started making Olympic bars for them, calling it the Image Barbell building gym equipment. Around 1976, a local machine shop started making Olympic bars for them calling it the Image Bar. In 1977, Image Barbell became Champion Barbell.
Starting point is 00:33:51 It was then that Buddy started looking at the bars with the intent of changing them for the better. In 1979, Buddy bought his first lathe to begin addressing the known issues. In 1980, his passion, drive, and purpose now had a greater mission. But he set out on his own to make what he believed was the greatest bar he had ever seen and trained with, and the Texas Power Bar was born. It was strong as a house with the best knurling and was maintenance-free. Hundreds of state, national, international, massonomics, and world powerlifting records have been and continue to be set and broken on the Texas Power Bar. To learn more about Texas Power Bars and buy one of their legendary bars,

One slightly unrelated thing. In podcast news, did you catch the podcast news this week tanner uh did i catch the podcast news well uh joe rogan of the joe rogan
Starting point is 00:34:55 experience podcast okay recently signed a deal with spotify to for them to be the exclusive provider of his podcast so you can't listen to it podcast. So you can't listen to it on Apple podcasts. You can't listen to it anywhere else. You can now only listen to it. I don't know when, whenever the deal kicks in, if it's now or next week or whatever, but so it's exclusively on Spotify.
Starting point is 00:35:15 So you have to have the Spotify app to listen to it. He signed a deal for $100 million with them. Wow. So is that an indefinite time? I don't know. I don't know what the timetable is on it. I didn't look that close into it, but, uh, wow. A hundred million dollars. That is crazy for one podcast. Wow. They do estimate like this thing was estimated that, um, I don't know if this is estimates or real numbers, but supposedly his podcast made,
Starting point is 00:35:45 it brought in $3 million in ads per month last year. It's a lot of ad money. Dang. And he'll still be getting that. Yeah. So, so yeah, that's, that's the thing is Spotify is trying to buy up these, these things because they're going to make money in, in ad revenue. Whereas with music, you know, they can still make money in ad revenue and all that, but with music got to pay royalty fees out back to the record labels there's no there's no record label to pay a royalty fee to here so right i mean if spotify wanted to offer us even like 10 percent of that deal i would consider taking it i would be all about i mean on a fundamental level i'm totally against what this is because all it is is making content harder to get for people that it,
Starting point is 00:36:25 it doesn't need to be, it's artificial. I don't like that. I don't, I don't like that part of it. And it's like, Oh, okay.
Starting point is 00:36:31 Our podcast is going to turn into the same thing like we have with, okay. Yep. I like this pod. I like this podcast and this one and this one, but I need my subscription to, I made my Disney subscription podcast. I need my ESPN subscription podcast.
Starting point is 00:36:44 I also need, it's like, yeah, that sucks. I don't want it to go that direction. Unless we can profit off of it. Unless I'm profiting directly off of it. I hate the idea. As far as the consumer, I do not like that idea at all. That does, that sounds terrible. Supposedly like I pay for Spotify premium already and I'm still against the idea of this.
Starting point is 00:37:02 I don't like Spotify getting into this game of of making podcasts something that like a single platform owns but supposedly with spotify with their with their podcasts you don't have to have a premium membership to listen so it's not like you're completely gated off from it you just now have to have the spotify app where they're collecting your data and selling that to make ads which is kind of obnoxious. So we got something to shoot for now. We got the road to the $100 million deal. Well, it starts with 200 podcast reviews, of course. That is, that's when you start popping up on people's radars once you get to that 200th one, as everyone knows. Right, exactly. Okay. So talking about some podcasts now that make
Starting point is 00:37:46 significantly less than a hundred million dollars um but are probably probably no less entertaining though uh it this is the this is the 2020 version of the massonomics top 10 best strength training podcasts is this now our third year doing this yeah Yeah, this is our third year up. And like we said before, we do have to update the list every year pretty, pretty extensively because for the biggest reason, just as podcasts in general, like they just don't always continue to exist. They just, there's a, there's a, there's a turn rate in this industry. And there's certain things that you can count on, and that's that a lot of podcasts will disappear, and the Masonomics podcast never will.
Starting point is 00:38:31 That's what I would say is through it all, we've gone through a lot of podcasts on this list, but one constant at least has been the Masonomics podcast. Well, Masonomics and Iron Radio, but we'll get to them as we go through here so and we have some of them that dropped off to some of them that dropped off to they maybe still somewhat exist but they like quit a common thing i've noticed is people just like halfway quit where like the feed's still there and they maybe make some put something out on occasion but yeah like having okay having a back catalog sure that's fine but when you produce like a few new pieces of content a year it's not exactly a living podcast and it's hard to wonder it's a hard
Starting point is 00:39:17 one to make a recommendation on when uh there's right new stuff coming out one not this isn't putting it out there in a negative way but one for example that was on the list last year that's not on the list this year would be uh chad wesley smith's uh juggernaut and that was one of the first ones that came to mind for me too right and it's just well they can't really be on the list anymore they really don't like i don't think like him and max make podcasts anymore like chad does like his beers with chad thing sometimes it's just kind of random and infrequent so they've obviously moved shifted away from the podcast as something that's value you know because they're still doing tons of other things of course but from a time and time and or money perspective they must have decided that the podcast was not the most
Starting point is 00:40:04 important thing that they're doing. They're not as dumb as we are. They don't just keep hitting their head against this wall and wondering what's going to happen. Yeah. Yeah. But I don't know if they ever hit 200 podcast reviews or not. Like we were going to, so they probably did it. And that's, that's why they failed because they didn't get to 200. So without any more delay, let's get into the list here. Full disclosure, my podcast consumption just in general lately has been down a lot. And so with these podcasts, I am not the expert. So Tanner, we're going to rely more on your valuable critique and feedback here.
Starting point is 00:40:41 But I'll be happy to guide us through the process. Yeah, that sounds great. First one on the list is stronger by science. And, uh, what, what, what can you tell us about stronger by science, Tanner? Stronger by science is maybe my, I've mentioned this before is maybe my favorite lifting related podcast. Uh, this list I would say is in no particular order. Coincidentally, this one is currently maybe my favorite lifting related podcast. Uh, this list I would say is in no particular order. Coincidentally, this one is currently maybe my favorite lifting podcast and it's with Eric Trexler and Greg Knuckles, Greg Knuckles. Um, and they're both extremely intelligent individuals and they talk a lot, a lot about detailed, uh, strength training and nutrition. And a lot of, they cover a lot about detailed strength training and nutrition and a lot of they cover a lot of
Starting point is 00:41:26 studies uh you know a lot a lot of scientific research but or all that being said they are very funny like they have this really good uh humorous like dry or deadpan humor that is really funny. They are legitimately very funny, and it makes that stuff that I would... Some of those things they talk about, maybe on the surface I think I'm interested in, but if I listen to someone else talk about it after five minutes, I'm like,
Starting point is 00:41:59 just kidding, this is very boring. Yep, this delivery is all off and checked out. Yeah, right. And with them i i they really interest me in these topics that i otherwise might not uh you know someone else their delivery may not hold my interest and i would say that's what they're really good at and they bring in a mix of you know what i say it's it's almost kind of like us except for they have serious stuff they talk about too
Starting point is 00:42:26 in a way you know like if we if if you took away all of the serious stuff you kind of are left with our podcast but like they have a mixed of like the like I said like these interesting scientific research and studies and they're both well educated on in these topics and they are experts so it's interesting to hear their perspectives but also very very humorous in a style of humor that i really appreciate and that's not exactly an easy thing to do so uh yeah if that sounds like something you're into uh i think that would be one of the first ones you should check out on the list yes i highly recommend that one in all honesty and then one that's uh also uh a little more on the sciencey serious side would be iron radio and they're also one of the only ones that can say that they've been on this podcast
Starting point is 00:43:13 list every year for us every time yeah yeah yeah that's that's worth noting any of them that have stayed here every time i would guess it'd be us and them so far that i come to mind but yeah that's a i what i think the note on them this is also an article too you can check this article out on our website and there's a little description about all of them but i think they've been doing it for 11 years and i don't even know what the number of episodes that they have out but they i don't think they've missed an episode in like 11 years every week just which is just pure insanity. That, that actually is, that is crazy. Like hard to comprehend. Yeah. Yeah. Uh, following them up though, is a, another podcast that does extremely well at producing an episode every week. And that is the mass economics podcast. Uh, I've heard of
Starting point is 00:43:58 these guys. I've heard of these guys. It's funny. I did have to update some of the description on there because like, although ours has never gone away it just has changed somewhat so like stuff in there in prior years and i'm like oh that really is not what that's not so relevant anymore and i've updated some of that at times so ours has certainly changed but never gone away and like any good show it should evolve a little bit right right evolve for the better i think yeah no one wants to be a has-been no we want to be a never never was like us that's right next on the list is elite fts table talk yes dave tate of course um i really like this one too this is Yes, Dave Tate, of course.
Starting point is 00:44:44 I really like this one, too. This is up there with another one of mine. When I see a new one pops up, I'm very interested in listening to it. I don't know that they put him out on a very specific regular basis, but he seems to always be putting stuff out. And a lot of it is like he does Q&A. Like a huge thing is Q&A, answering questions from listeners, which he gets hundreds and thousands of questions all the time. And it's just I like how to get strong, stay strong, how to use your strength. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:45:12 Yeah. That's exactly. It's mostly just him talking about that catchphrase and analyzing it. The finer points. Yeah. It's really good though. I just, if you like Dave Tate and the way he talks, you know, kind of like no bullshit
Starting point is 00:45:29 and that's, I think that's a good way to describe it. You know, no bullshit, just telling it like it is. And I enjoy it. Yep. This next one is probably, probably the newest one on the list
Starting point is 00:45:44 with the least number of episodes but i think a lot of people are aware of this and have listened to it and that is hybrid unlimited right which is of course uh hayden and steffi like you said i think most people are aware of them and what they're doing and i've listened i have not listened to all their episodes but i have listened to some and they do a lot of uh get a lot of interesting people on there. A lot of good interviews that they have, some pretty scientific. But then they also do a lot of messing around too, a lot of joking around and talking powerlifting gossip. And I can appreciate that in an episode. And they also cover a fairly broad range of topics too, as far as getting like researchers and authors and it's not just strength stuff. It's a lot of, it's almost like personal development a little bit as well. Yeah. Classify it. They had a, I think it was actually Hayden's dad on one time, which I thought was pretty interesting. He's a financial advisor and like he's a,
Starting point is 00:46:41 I listened to it and he's an intelligent financial advisor but also has a way of explaining things that people can understand understand it pretty well and i thought that that was a really good episode actually did he have some pretty hot penny stock recommendations see no that's why i like him because he wasn't talking about things like penny stocks oh okay well i don't know how good he really is then next on the list we have uh one-time massonomics guest matt vincent with uh um so yes good good point he has been on the massonomics podcast it'll be fun when we're back to having guests again too i know i'm looking forward to it it will be fun we got a lot of people that we've been in contact with that we're going to line up but yes we have had matt on the show we've also interviewed him at the arnold in years past and his show i've recently got more into it pretty interesting like he his is all traveling like he's never doing phone calls he's
Starting point is 00:47:37 going basically all around the country all around the world to talk to people and a lot of you know he's like pretty chill i I mean, we know from based on our conversation with him on our show, like that's what he's like on, on his show. And it's, it's a lot of it's like based or has bases to strength training and nutrition and that sort of stuff. But he goes more into just living life and hanging out quite a bit of yeah quite a bit of his personality yeah yeah yeah and i guess just from our experiences with him he's always been really nice to us and he's a supporter of of ours and that makes me more interested in hearing what they have to say so i like it pretty well next up we have strong talk from starting strong man was
Starting point is 00:48:23 this on the list last year this was on the list last year? This was on the list last year, I think, too. And that's from Cale Beck, of course, who is Super Bowl commercial famous this year. Cale Beck of Facebook group Strongman fame. Yeah. And his podcast, Anymore, all it is is he talks about upcoming big Strongman events, and then he reviews Strongman events. And a lot of times it'll just be like a 10-minute thing. It'll be he'll recap, you know, like he recapped Thor's deadlift,
Starting point is 00:48:51 or he'll talk about Thor's deadlift before it happens, or he'll talk about World's Strongest Man before it happens. And I like it because it's just like I get some interesting Strongman news out of it that I wouldn't really catch otherwise, and it's just like 10 minutes minutes out of my day and then I kind of know what's going on which is which is a great thing to have someone giving you some information on strongman stuff because there's not a lot of resources out there that right yeah no he's he pretty much is the resource and has been the resource so uh next podcast we have the bro cast and i think they were on the list last year too weren't they they they were new on the list last year they had you know they had hadn't uh gone too far and
Starting point is 00:49:34 um i would say that you know uh i i i like their show i i recommend it. They struggle with audio problems. I'll say all this and then I'll say why you still would listen to it. They struggle with audio problems. They are not altogether all that consistent. They'll put out a couple and then not put one out for a month or more. They don't do near as good at reading their sponsor ads as we do you know i mean i almost that's hard to compete with but um all that being said i still like them because they're really really unfiltered and like the way that brandon allen is he says anything he wants to irregardless of how that's going to make people feel about him.
Starting point is 00:50:25 He has no filter, and nothing's an act with him. He says he's probably lost many followers in his life because he does not filter anything he says, but I think that that's interesting. And from a powerlifting perspective, it's interesting to hear people that are very opinionated sometimes. Yep. So I think that's cool next up is a another uh podcast that we have featured in some way on this uh show before and that is 50 facts with jim mcd and silent mike yes jim mcd who we had on the show not too long ago. I like that one. Same way, you know, we've talked with Jim McD many times over the year, so he's in that same category of I like listening to his show because we kind of know him.
Starting point is 00:51:16 So it's just interesting seeing what they're doing and what they're up to. And, you know, I always listened to the PowerCast back in the day when Silent Mike and him were on there together. And, you you know I liked that they got back together and started a show so I like hearing hearing what they have to say and they don't always follow that form that 50 facts format you know more lately they've just been uh riffing or or having just normal interviews and that sort of thing but um I like it either way that they they go about that i think it's interesting because i like listening to those two talk and if you liked the old school power cast uh this is probably the closest thing you have to to some semblance of that that's not work bell like giving you motivational talks and that's what i would say
Starting point is 00:52:01 the new version of that is not what you would want if you're at you know I mean like Mark's new version is not all that similar to the old version in my opinion next on the list is the Barban podcast which is also a newer one and also a connection to the Masonomics podcast because because jake boley we've had on uh the massonomics podcast before he's not the main host of that show but he does take his turn as as guest hosting and probably has hosted it the second most um than anyone i think it's uh uh uh david thomas tau i think is yep am i saying yep yep he's the main main host and their show is not even a year old i don't think but they've pumped out a lot of episodes
Starting point is 00:52:55 and a lot of interviews um and really much like their contact content is on their website that's how their podcast is in the way that they interview such a huge a wide swath of people that are in the strength and fitness and nutrition industry you know like they get like the the very very much power lifters the very much strongman area you know the olympic weightlifters bodybuilders the scientists you know the the huge they cover it all kind of and it's really professional kind of like the way that their website and their that sort of thing is the podcast i think also has like a really pretty polished and professional feel to it yeah it's
Starting point is 00:53:36 one of the closest things to like resembling an actual organization yeah yes exactly because and business. Yes, exactly. Because they kind of are like even more so than a lot of this stuff. They really are like a business that's finance, you know, like they really are close to a they are a real, real business in the sense that a lot of those other companies that do that sort of thing would be. So I think it's I think it's interesting. I think it's very how much you're going to like it is a little more topic dependent on theirs because let's face it. Most people aren't super interested in all of those strength disciplines. You know, like I'm not, if they have a CrossFitter or an Olympic weightlifter in there, I'm not super
Starting point is 00:54:18 interested in it. So I'm probably not going to listen to it, but when they come around to the topics, I am more interested in it. I like to check them out. And that's the, uh, that's the list. So it's a pretty broad range. Uh, yeah, there's something for everyone there. And yeah, depending on what, what mood you're in, whether it's more serious, something fun, something not super even focused on strength training, uh, there there's something for you in all of these. So I would say if you haven't, uh, hop on, download them, give them all a listen, and you'll find out in a hurry if that's something for you in all of these so I would say if you haven't hop on download them give them all a listen and you'll find out in a hurry if that's something that uh this is an is a show that you're going to want to listen to regularly yeah I that the more we've talked about it too I really like that third one on the list really sounded interesting too that
Starting point is 00:55:00 one with uh uh that they're on like episode 216 yeah maybe it was the mass economics podcast is that what it was oh that's it yeah that was the one yeah that was the one yeah that one sounded good to me yeah i've i've heard really good i heard they almost have 200 reviews that's how you know it's a good podcast damn 200 apple podcast five-star reviews holy shit that means something that means you said you said apple podcast and all they could think of was apple Apple podcast, five-star reviews. Holy shit. That means something. That means something for sure. You said Apple podcast, and all I could think of was Apple pie, Tanner. Aha. McDonald's Apple podcast reviews.
Starting point is 00:55:34 The best kind of review. Well, it's getting to be about that time. Are you prepared? Have you strapped in? Buckle your seatbelts belts because it's time for overrated underrated on episode 216 of the massomics podcast topic number one tommy overrated or underrated keanu reeves wow this is a tough one right off the bat yeah hard hitters right from the start because he is someone that is kind of universally loved on the internet i i haven't come across anything that ever speaks
Starting point is 00:56:13 negative of him people people love to speak very highly of him i don't really know enough about him to dispute that or not no he's kind of seems like an it's weird like how he's so popular yet it feels like you don't really know that much about him yeah you just hear i always see like you'll see something on reddit of oh keanu reeves was caught doing this like just being a cool guy helping someone out and he's kind of he's also approaching that bill murray territory of being like this person that people kind of just love but he's also not super active and stuff either I get Keanu still has movies coming
Starting point is 00:56:50 out but it's not like he's the rock where he's just you can't almost get away from him you know but I think I gotta say he's probably a little overrated just because it feels like there's so much internet hype around him so I'll go with a very slight overrated just because it feels like there's so much internet hype around him so i'll go with a
Starting point is 00:57:05 very slight overrated okay what if the topic would have been the matrix i think you could definitely say that early 2000s matrix was overrated uh-huh but i think it's been long enough that i i'm safe i'm i'm happy to say that i think it's underrated now again i think that's a i just watched the trilogy we we just did like in the last week weekend or over the last week and i really enjoyed it i have probably not watched them since they're like basically new and it uh the first one was is of course the best movie. Yes. Last one is the worst. If they just slide a little bit, but I've probably seen the last one once. Maybe like I have a really, I just remember being younger and thinking I can't follow anything that's
Starting point is 00:57:55 going on right now. Like my brain doesn't know what's, what's happening. My biggest, that's my biggest thing through all three, honestly, is like not like who watches that all and fully understands what's going on unless you really researched it on the internet
Starting point is 00:58:10 yeah part of the problem is there kind of is some backstory that you should understand ahead of time like they don't they kind of touch on in the first one but the whole point of the first one is is that the humans got in a war with the robots and to try and stop the robots the humans blocked out the sky and basically put the earth in this like that isn't completely explained super clearly right like i think i think in the first one they make mentions to that but i don't know if someone ever sits down and says no this is what happened and this is how we got here right because there was also a movie called the animatrix which uh came out probably in the early 2000s that has all of these different animated shorts that goes on to explain all of these different parts and how things came to be but just adds to the whole matrix lore but yeah i think was this even was this a question right
Starting point is 00:58:57 away or was this a bonus one this was just a bonus this was an ad okay yeah i still i think the matrix is underrated though like. It has a definite look, and I think it shaped a lot of what happened for movies in the 2000s. I think it holds up pretty well, having just watched it. Oh, yes, for sure. Still really good. For being a movie that's like 20 years old. I think it came out in 99, so like 21.
Starting point is 00:59:23 99, yeah. The first one is a really good movie, though yeah um the first one is a really good movie though i mean it is a really good movie i would recommend it if you haven't watched it for a long time check it out and you you'll probably surprise yourself at um even just the uh even just the uh philosophical situation it tries to present it's like whoa yeah it is, it is. Yeah, it is. It is good that way. I probably appreciate it better now being in my 30s than when I was, you know, 13 and really understood it even more or less. Oh, guns, kung fu, slow motion. Yeah. That was my takeaway out of it.
Starting point is 00:59:56 He just stopped the bullets. Yeah, yeah. He just put his hand up and they fell. That's what I took from it. Yeah. Okay. Overrated or underrated? Jeeps. Jeeps.
Starting point is 01:00:07 Jeeps. I, with Jeeps, I don't mind the styling of a Jeep Grand Cherokee. I think the new Jeep Grand Cherokee is a good looking vehicle. It's an expensive vehicle. It is. I don't mind the styling of it. Is it a practical family vehicle? i don't mind i don't mind the styling of it is it is it a practical family vehicle i don't really think so it's basically a car that's raised up um but the other the other jeeps not like a wrangler i've never cared for a jeep wrangler i guess if
Starting point is 01:00:37 if you really are using it as like a fun off-road vehicle but as people for a daily driver the whole inside oh yeah isn't it yeah i don't think it's a yeah like for the for the price that it costs i do not want to be driving around a vehicle that's mostly plastic i get it it's supposed to be like an outdoor vehicle but almost no one that has them uses this as that so that's true and the rest of their lineup like a cherokee i don't really care for that one and then they have all of those other just weird, like smaller ones, slightly bigger ones,
Starting point is 01:01:09 ones that are marketed to like teenagers. I think Jeep is a little overrated. And they're like wildly popular too. Like I think as far as sales, like that Jeep has grown like their market share pretty significantly, even like in the last decade like they've become way bigger than they used to be i wouldn't doubt that and the crazy thing is is like it's almost all the same vehicle with just a slightly different body a little bit
Starting point is 01:01:35 different size yeah yeah just yeah just a little just a little it's not even like they make a car and a truck and an suv yeah it's like no these these are all just like midsize SUVs just with varying trim on them. Yeah. Not completely dissimilar to like the Harley Davidson effect is like the Jeep effect is a little bit like that, where it's just like, ah, it's a Jeep, you know, like Harley Davidson. They actually have a surprising number of models, but they're all sort of just fractionally different from each other. Yep, yep.
Starting point is 01:02:11 So with that being said, though, I would drive a Jeep Grand Cherokee. I would drive that vehicle. The other ones, nah, don't do it for me. So I am saying Jeep is overrated. Okay. Overrated or underrated? Razor scooters. So I am saying Jeep is overrated.
Starting point is 01:02:23 Overrated or underrated? Razor scooters. It's actually really funny because I was on a walk like two days ago through my neighborhood and there was a surprising number of razor scooters laying on the sidewalk that I had to go around. And I remember thinking, when I was a kid,
Starting point is 01:02:37 a razor scooter was the coolest thing in the world. But I don't know if they actually make a comeback, like if scootering is popular with kids or if it's just one of those little things that everyone has because it's just a cheap thing. Everyone has one. I think literally every kid has at least one. Do you know what they charge for a Razor scooter nowadays?
Starting point is 01:02:54 We have one in our garage, but I don't know how much it costs. I'm not really sure. Let me get to the bottom of this. When I was a kid, I'm pretty sure they were like $110. I think they were expensive. What? I could have swore they were like 110 i think they were expensive what i i could i was gonna guess they were 140 i could have swore razor scooter was 100 bucks when i was a kid uh dang right well they have they have different different options several options
Starting point is 01:03:16 but the cheapest one starts like 30 which is yeah it should be yeah the the most expensive one they have it looks like is a hundred dollars they have a few in the 40 oh actually no they do have one with air tires that's 130 ah the one with the wheelie bar can't forget the wheelie bar that classic piece of uh classic modification so you can do those wheelies yeah for the most part they're in that 40 to 60 range for the razor scooter i do think razor scooters are i think they're in that 40 to 60 range for the Razor scooter. I do think Razor scooters are, I think they're overrated, and they're not a tiny little scooter. It's nothing fancy, but if that's what it takes for kids to play outside,
Starting point is 01:03:52 I'm all about it. I just, oh, whoa, they do have a dirt scooter for $300. Dang. Yeah, so they have a pretty diverse range. I think Razor, the brand itself, is probably a little overrated. But yeah, that's what I'll go with, overrated. I'm just saying, you're not going to catch me scooting around town on a Razor scooter. Right, right, right.
Starting point is 01:04:18 Overrated or underrated? Local radio. Local radio is so overrated i this is what blows my mind about local radio okay look at look at first i'm going to go with the cons of it because you can make almost a nonetheless list all right local radio compared to my phone um worse sound quality check worse diversity and playlist check lack of control check frequent ads check annoying ads check ads that i don't care about check um and that's just i mean that's just getting started right there like just right off the top of your head that's just right at the top of my head songs i don't care about check spotty service a lot of time or
Starting point is 01:05:03 i shouldn't say a lot of times, but can be spotty service. Only works in my 100 mile area. Like I am personally not a radio fan. What does it do? I guess you can get a few local updates of your neighborhood, of what's happening. But I do not listen to the radio. I bet in the last 10 years, not, not saying not like being in a public setting, but on, of my own free will, if in 10 years I have 20 hours of public radio listening,
Starting point is 01:05:32 I'd say, yeah, that's maybe it. I just, I don't, I hop in my car. Let's say I hop in my car to drive to the gym. It takes what? Six, seven minutes. There's a good chance. I'll catch the end of a song. i don't like at all i'll hear four or five minutes of annoying ads i'll hear a radio dj give me some public notices in our town about something that i don't care about at all and then i might if i'm lucky they might start one more song that plays non-stop and i don't care about either yeah so it's just the radio as far as music discovery goes, it sucks. Like they don't do that job anymore. Spotify and all those services have
Starting point is 01:06:10 you covered. They expose you to way more stuff. You can find things you're into. I just, and then my business, my business is in the marketing and advertising space. I, you know, the whole point of my business is to try and help businesses get their message out, design things, look good, be presentable, maybe make some sales hopefully while they're at it. And I don't know if you know, but ad radio ad spots are not cheap. They, depending on the station, maybe, maybe certain stations have a, have a better reach. But if I were to look at advertising on Facebook or online versus radio, there's not a lot of situations where I could recommend the radio. There are some, but there's not a lot where I could recommend it. Right, right. So, okay. So I went on and on about the cons. Let's think about the positives. When you turn your car on a lot of cars just default
Starting point is 01:07:06 to that so you don't have to touch anything um that's that's about it it's super you know what you're getting you're not going to get surprised ever listening to the radio like you know what you're getting with it um so it's got that old reliable going for it. I think that's it. I think that's it. So you're a fan all in all. So I'm saying, I'm saying radio is overrated. Yeah.
Starting point is 01:07:34 All right. So that wraps up overrated underrated for the day. Would you like to hear from our sponsors one more time? Oh, I would love to. Okay. I'm just, just going to riff on each one a little bit i'll try something completely different some freestyle in here yeah so first one uh texas power bars and i would say the same thing about what i would say about all of all of our sponsors we are working with four companies and four groups of people
Starting point is 01:08:02 that we respect the company and respect the people uh so that's why we're working with four companies and four groups of people that we respect the company and respect the people. So that's why we're working with them. And that's also very true in Texas Power Bar's case. We work with Mitch Stacy and then also Buddy Caps a little bit. It was kind of the old man that started the company is how I would describe him. And I think everyone knows Texas Power Bars that they make good quality power bars and we use them in our gym all the time so it's easy for us to recommend them.
Starting point is 01:08:32 You can check... Countless American state national massonomics and international records have been sitting on this. So you can check them out at TexasPowerBars.com and if you buy something from them and you listen to us, you can let them know in the comments that you heard about them on the Massonomics podcast.
Starting point is 01:08:48 The next one is Lifting Large. So this is, I know they get a kick out of it when I say that we're all a really good, close, tight family in our podcast, Massonomics podcast sponsorship family. So Mike and Teal Adelman, of course, are in our very, very near and dear close personal podcast family. And they sell a lot of stuff on their website. And I know they're big on their customer service that they have top-notch customer service. And they sell the deadlift slippers that we have and use. And I know we have listeners that purchase those and really like those the other thing i would say about them if you're someone that's lifts raw and have has any thoughts about trying
Starting point is 01:09:30 like any equipped lifting they're a good reason your way to the dark side yeah and making your way to the dark dark side to actually just get in contact with them reach out to them on their website and they will help you out because i personally would not know what the hell to even buy so they they that i would go to them and have them help you out on what to actually get if you want to dip your toes in the dark side water at all and we do have a discount code with them on their their branded products and it's mass 20 save you 20 off spud ink um we've been working with spudding for a long time on various things it would be
Starting point is 01:10:06 spud and susan of course we talked to both of them quite a bit and they're basically like as nice of people as they come we didn't get to hang out with them at the arnold this year unfortunately so we'll probably be able to catch up with them next year and i think everyone knows what spudding uh sells when it comes to straps and wraps and anything like that. Almost guaranteed, even if you've never seen it before, if you have a thought of a strap that should be made for a purpose in lifting, I would just about be willing to bet that they have it on their website. Yeah, and they set the standard. They do, and same way if you go there, if you order something, you can let them know that the, uh, massonomics guys sent you.
Starting point is 01:10:46 And then the last one, of course, not least is hybrid performance method. We talked about Hayden and Steffi with their podcast hybrid unlimited. Um, they kind of everything they do, they do well. And of course their training and nutrition programs and programming, kind of I think what they started their company around is no exception to that. They do it very well and very professional. They have like a full staff of coaches on their team that their job is to do that. So, you know, sometimes when you're maybe paying for coaching online,
Starting point is 01:11:25 you don't know exactly what you're getting, but I think this is a very professional system that they have set up that it is you're purchasing a product, you're getting what you pay for, you're not going to be let down or disappointed in any way. It's going to be what you want, and it's also catered to what you want. If you're a weightlifter or a powerlifter or whatever goals you have, you can cater it to that. So worth checking out, I think. And you can use our discount code, what is it?
Starting point is 01:11:51 MASS, M-A-S-S, in all caps, 5% off any of those programs. That's our sponsors. Then, of course, we've got our stuff. The tank tops have just been going absolutely nuts. By the time you hear this, there's a chance whatever you want is sold out in your size. But check it out but check it out anyways good chance your size isn't available in the one you want so get what's left because they ain't coming back no and it's it is hash hashtag crispy boy summer and the only way to live a crispy boy summer is to get on one of those tank tops while
