Starting point is 00:00:00 Master of Memory 409. Welcome to Master of Memory. I'm Timothy, and I'm here to answer your accelerated learning questions every day and to inspire and empower you to learn anything you want to learn faster than ever. Ross submitted a written question at masterofmemory.com slash question. Ross says, Hi Timothy, I'm a first year law student. I would like to ask for your advice on how I can utilize and apply the memory technique you're catering so that I can memorize provisions faster.
Starting point is 00:00:30 As an example, Article 126, the conjugal partnership terminates, one, upon the death of either spouse, two, when there's a decree of legal separation, three, when the marriage is annulled or declared void, or four, In case of judicial separation of property during the marriage under Articles 134 to 138. In this provision, I have to remember the provision number, which is Article 126, and at the same time I have to remember the provision verbatim. How can I remember that termination of conjugal partnership is art 1-2-6 and vice versa. So, Ross, what I would suggest first of all is you really need, in order to memorize these numbers and everything, you really need a number system, a very systematic way to approach the memorization of numbers so that when you see numbers they don't just look like abstract ideas but they look like
Starting point is 00:01:23 solid things that will stick in your memory. So I would suggest creating a PAO system as I describe in other episodes. In fact, the previous episode, episode 408, covers sort of step-by-step how to do that. Now, once you have that, or if you have that, I would suggest that you create a small mini palace for each provision. So you're going to store all of the provisions that you have to memorize in locations. Choose locations that you're familiar with and organize them. So for example, with this particular one, you could imagine that, let's say that this one is stored in a window. All right, so you've placed all of your different provisions around your house and this one is stored in a window. Alright, so you've placed all of your different provisions around your house and this one is stored in a window.
Starting point is 00:02:07 The purpose is to make it so that if you're going around your house in your imagination, you can just look around in your imagination and see these provisions visually represented in different places. If this is in a window, then the title will be the first location in the window and then it looks like there are four other locations throughout this window. So maybe it's a fairly simple window, and the title is on the blinds. You have the Conjugal Partnership terminating,
Starting point is 00:02:34 and to represent this, you're going to use the numbers 1, 2, and 6 to represent a Conjugal Partnership terminating. For me personally, this is really easy to do because my number character for one in the 1-2-6 would be Sid, a soldier, and my object for 2-6 is a hinge. And so I would just imagine that this guy named Sid is up there on the blinds, and he and a woman are next to each other, but he closes a hinge between the two of them, and when the hinge closes, it causes a string to break and the woman falls. So you can see that that represents
Starting point is 00:03:11 not only the fact that the conjugal partnership is terminating, tying that to the, but also the fact that it's in that particular location. And so when you think of the conjugal partnership terminating, you'll think of this image, and it'll bring you to the window, which is also where you're going to store these other four things. So as far as those four things go, you could have, let's say, the woman falls and hits the glass of the window, and that's where she dies, and so that represents the death of a spouse. And then number two, I'm making this up as I go along, there's a decree of legal separation. So the second location might be the edge of the window, a wooden edge, you know, along the side of the window that's vertical, and that could be a decree of legal separation. You would want to
Starting point is 00:03:57 come up with some sort of image that represents that and tie that to that side of the window. Third, when the marriage is annulled or declared void, and personally, I don't really know why that would be different between, you know, the fact that the edge of the wall has a decree of legal separation and the windowsill itself will be the marriage annulled or declared void, except I guess maybe it's disqualified for some reason, but you want the windowsill to represent that. And since I don't know legally what this, how to represent this, you can just think of a situation in which that is fairly common and place that situation on the windowsill. And then finally number four,
Starting point is 00:04:36 in case of judicial separation of property during the marriage under articles 134 to 138, you want to take your objects for 134 and 138, put them under the window, on the floor under the window, and have those two things being separated from each other as property. So maybe you put Sid also down there at the bottom under the window, separating the property, the 134 stuff from the 138 stuff. Again, it does depend on you having these number objects and personalities so that you can represent these numbers with visual images that you can place around a house instead of just abstract concepts like numbers.
Starting point is 00:05:16 Now, I gave an isolated example of one provision, and you could just scatter these provisions around your house so that they're just stored in whatever order you feel appropriate or in just a non-planned order. It doesn't really matter. But I would actually suggest that instead you organize them in some way. If you think that certain provisions belong together, you put them all in the same room, and that'll help you access the ones that you want more easily. Maybe all the provisions that have to do with, I don't know what you're going to categorize them by, but that have to do with legal marriage, you would put all of those in a particular room so that anytime you have to find a provision about legal marriage, you know that you're going to that room. I hope that helps. And for anyone listening,
