Starting point is 00:00:00 Master of Memory 420. Welcome to Master of Memory. I'm Timothy, and I'm here to answer your accelerated learning questions every day and to inspire and empower you to learn anything you want to learn faster than ever. Gloria asked a question in an email about memorizing the Book of Revelations. Now, anyone who's familiar with the Bible or familiar with the Book of Revelations specifically knows that this last book of the Bible is quite long and complicated with 22 chapters. And like other books by John, it seems to repeat certain events two or three times, depending, of course, on your interpretation of the book.
Starting point is 00:00:40 And so, therefore, it is actually best to get the book laid out in your mind as early as possible. What's confusing is navigating the book. And once you have your map of the book and you can remember basically everything about what the general topics are covered by each chapter, you're going to have a better time remembering specific details. So first of all, I would say that your first priority will be to remember those topics for those chapters. So just go through and memorize the topics of the chapters first of all, and I'm going to be talking more about how that works in episode 423, which is three episodes from now. But basically, this is something that you can do in a matter of one or two weeks without
Starting point is 00:01:21 really too much work, granted that you have object number mnemonics. So if you have object number mnemonics to remember numbers, you can really easily remember the topics of the chapters of Revelation and memorize basically so that when someone says chapter 16 of Revelation, you can go, I know which thing has happened in that chapter. I'm going to be telling you in a little bit about a resource that you can use to make this even easier and faster for you, Gloria, so that you can get started right away. I'll give you that resource at the end of the episode. But meanwhile, once you've memorized those topics, your second priority is going to be remembering the text of all the key verses. So you'll have one key verse
Starting point is 00:02:01 for each topic, not for each chapter, but for each topic within those chapters. Some will have one key verse, and some chapters will have three or four key verses. And that could take you another couple of weeks. I would learn them really thoroughly and make sure that you really understand where those verses are as the book is laid out. Now, once you have those first two priorities done, even if it's been a month or whatever it's been, you really know the whole book of Revelation. You could read through the whole book and always know in your head where you are on the map, how you're getting through the book. And if someone brings up a passage, you could point out where that is. You could look it up and read it.
Starting point is 00:02:41 Or if someone mentions a chapter of Revelations, you could know what happens in that chapter. So these are the highest priorities. Even if you stopped there, you have, even with as little work as you've done, most of the project done, in a sense. The third priority is to memorize all the rest of the text using the techniques that we've talked about in other episodes for memorizing scripture, and that is frankly lots and lots of work. So among, you know, reviewing the things that you've learned in the first place, remembering those topics and those chapters and those key verses, you're also going to go through and memorize all the verses in between those key verses, and that's frankly just tons and tons of
Starting point is 00:03:20 work. And frankly, most people give up during that part of the process if they haven't given up earlier. But it's actually not a big deal because you actually do know the whole book of Revelations at that point. You just don't know necessarily all of the text in between, which as I've laid out here is the last priority. Now here's the bonus that I'm giving you for this episode. I'm actually creating a quiz for the topic mnemonics of the Book of Revelation, which are the most essential things to learn for this book. So if you go to masterofmemory.com slash revelationsquiz, so revelationsquiz, R-E-V-E-L-A-T-I-O-N-S-Q-U-I-Z, it'll redirect you to a Quizlet set where you can just go ahead and start
Starting point is 00:04:06 quizzing on all of those topics for each of the chapters of Revelations. This is something I'm more than happy to provide, and for people listening, if there's a book of the Bible or a poem or something like that that you'd like some help memorizing, and you'd actually like a resource to help you with the first step for getting the project done, I'd really be happy to help you out in any way I can. So what do you want to learn? The world's knowledge can be yours. Leave your learning request at masterofmemory.com slash question, and I'll talk to you again soon. © transcript Emily Beynon
