All right, Bebo, looks like you get to mine some crez for the first time in your life.
You've worked with it a lot, haven't you?
Yeah, sure, but, you know, I'm not always going to be around.
Maybe it'll be good to teach you a little bit of this.
In case you want to keep some flies.
No, just a bonk on the head.
Oh, okay. The way you're talking, it just made it seem like you might be dying.
No, just going somewhere. Let's show you around. You can help me get some for the barrel they gave us.
Okay. Is it very scary?
It can be in the way that all things that can kill you are scary.
Exciting.
The members of the other ship are, you know, kind of passing you as they're getting ready to depart.
They are kind of looking at Keza like, this.
guys ordering a death sentence.
Now,
the instinct is
that it will
punish you for over
overestimated.
And that's coming from me.
So only take
what you're willing to get.
Okay.
Okay.
You think you can
follow me? We'll see if we can get
at least a few branches to take back
and slick and
to the barrel there?
Yeah, all right. I can follow.
And I think Keza goes to the railing of the godsinger
off the starboard side, away from the other ship
as it's being loaded in. And he points out
a particular vein of Krezza that looks at least
a little bit easier to get to for someone just starting off like
Vivo. Kesa is going to try and
ease his way down hopping from limb to limb to try and get as close as possible without,
you know, killing himself.
Bibo at first stands still watching Kezo's movements, and much the way that he does when
he's watching him talk, the motion of the facial features slithering around.
But in this case, he's tracking the entire body.
And then as soon as he feels confident enough, he takes his first.
first step, kind of trying to mimic exactly the spot where Keza was landing.
Bebo no cut, Keza cut of one. The two of you are able to leap off the side of the godsinger.
Bebo, it's a little awkward because of the heaviness of this kind of canvas suit.
But you make down to an area, an enormous branch that is covered in it and shooing away the
some flagrant swarm, you are able to, uh, Bibo without much issue, scoop a hand into the bucket.
Kesea, it's almost impossible to avoid the, the, the, the, crezer.
It's everywhere.
It's dripping from above you and below you.
When it lands on a branch, it makes this kind of acidic burning sound.
And sure enough, one of them lands on one of your tendrils.
and suddenly there is this searing pain.
Yeah, I think a hand reaches back to where it is touched
and then it burns himself in the instinct.
And he double steps and nearly falls from the branch he's perched on,
but he's nimble enough to catch his feet on it.
And he looks to Bebo and it's almost there is this instant of like,
oh, hey!
and then he settles and is already cursing off the pain.
But there is a different side to Keza out here, condensed and focused.
And so he puts a hand on one of your many limbs to steady himself and then reaches in and takes from his side my Krez knife.
And it's this tiny switchbladed, old, curved, longer knife that he keeps at his side.
and he cuts off and sloths some of that crez into the bucket alongside you.
And then looking back, points at the direction that you'll take to get back up.
He says, we shouldn't chance it anymore.
Once you get hit once, it's sort of a signal of things to come.
So let's not test our luck, yeah?
I just almost lost my head.
Oh, oh, no.
Yeah, whatever you say.
and he looks kind of up and around as though they're being attacked,
just aware of what he thought was going quite well
and kind of seems in this moment more nervous than before.
Bebo, as you're beginning to the process of moving away from the Kreser,
you hear a tear in the side.
Looking down, you can see that apparently some of the canvas has torn
exposing your body to the air, at the very least.
Keza, make a reaction roll
to avoid the effects of the Kresor.
Cut of one.
You take a point of aspect damage
as you do your best to remove the Krez,
but it's too little, too late.
Almost immediately, it begins to sear and burn.
You watch as your flesh begins to bubble
and almost change shape.
fungus begins to grow out of the palms of your hands,
and you can fuel electricity where before it was just sparks,
suddenly there's electricity arcing on the tree itself,
a kind of wild spontaneousness to the reaction of Krezor.
Keza is almost hiding that side of the back of his head from Bebo,
so as not to scare him any further.
He looks down to that canvas pack,
and instinctually like covers the cut that was on Bebo's outfit.
And picking Bebo up, tries to hurl him up to the next branch.
He goes, hey, we should get going.
We got enough.
And tries to get him getting the fuck out of here.
Both of you make rolls.
Cut of one.
Bebo, you are lifted by Keza and thrown up higher into a branch.
his strength impressive.
What's the twist?
Well, the twist is that Bebo is trying to help as well
using his usual scrambling and leverage,
but nothing is really working the way it should out here.
He's not a depth of wave walking and being out in this space.
So he overcompensates,
and he is safely cleared,
the area, but he's entered a different area that has overshot the mark.
You land on the branch above, but it's got quite an angle on it.
And instead of going up, you're now sliding on your butt down closer to this massive
titanic trunk.
Keza, the electricity is beginning to arc even more from your tendrils, from the tentacles
in the back of your head.
And one of them arcs across the Krezor.
it begins to light up and almost explodes.
Your back is suddenly covered in the goo.
Your leather outfit and your boots begin to sizzle.
One of your resources needs to be damaged.
Sizzling at the back there, he immediately,
almost against his own survival instinct,
worries for his coat,
takes it off and then ties it out in front,
trying to preserve it,
And it's sort of half singes the front of him now that it's less damaging.
And this jar of scorpions he had been keeping for an acidic composite he wanted to make later.
And then the acid from the crez burns right through the glass.
And the scorpions fall into the crez and burn up on impact.
The jar cracking says, fuck, I was going to use those.
I mean, we're good.
We're good.
He calls up to Bebo.
Shouting, evil equals danger.
So rifle out, immediately scanning down where they were at to make sure that they're not being attacked from a distance.
It's easy enough to see.
No threat in sight other than a ton of Krezor and then precariously balancing on branches,
Bebo sliding down closer to the trunk away from the ship.
I'm not exactly sure how much rope we have.
I will tie some to the, to the, to the,
stirred up the ship and shout out to Bebo.
Catch.
Bebo, as you're sliding towards the trunk, you see this rope.
It's within arm's reach.
It's just up to you.
Make a roll.
You can add a D6 thanks to Zin's rope.
Oh, nice.
Snatching onto the rope and knowing that it's going to lead you back,
you are able to control yourself, stop, stand up and begin using it to safely climb back
up to the ship.
What's the twist?
He finds a carving that was made into the,
the route that he's climbing up.
That reminds him of one of the letters that he carries
from his dragonfly postmaster
that he's seen before. It looks very similar.
What do you think about maybe even an instrument,
like a carved ocarina?
Love it.
Thanks to Zin's rope,
you're able to climb onto the deck of the ship.
In Keza's mouth,
he tastes that sickly,
almost acrid taste of vanilla and root.
that comes about because of the CRES.
And he can immediately tell what's happening to that man troll
that was most affected by the drip.
And he knows he's in a bad situation
as the Cota just started to singe.
He's about to fall deeper into Cres.
He pops that red panic button on his saw,
pulls it out,
and immediately as it begins to rev
and run the engine of those blades,
he actually hits the fail safe on it
so that it stops completely.
Now a still saw
He's going to leap from where he is
Almost like a kip-up jumping from his back
To a standing position and launching
With that saw overhead
And he's trying to puncture
The largest bark he can find across from himself
To sort of swing up
And acrobatically
A catch that rope that was extended out to Bebo
And get himself back on the ship
It takes you some time
But sure enough, you're able to, using your free hand and this powerful saw weapon that you have,
you're able to climb up one of these long branches that meets the godsinger at the top of the canopy.
And Zinn and Bebo, you see a tired, Hagrid Keza climb aboard the deck.
And Bebo will be able to see that where the Krez had hit that mantral,
it has actually split down the middle and then repopulated into a deck.
new tentacle that is the same purpled black as the CRES.
And it's clear that the damage was enough that already he had begun to mutate from the effects of the Cres.
Additionally, Keza's leather jacket now sitting on the deck of the ship is showing signs of growing appendages,
tentaculi that are reaching out.
Ah, this is this going to take forever to get out?
And he's already taking that Cres knife and trying to cut.
out the new
new limbs.
Seeing the impacts of this,
Bebo takes off his own
jacket and begins to whack
at your back the way someone does when they're trying to put
out of fire. He's like, oh no!
This did not go well.
Why are you hitting me?
I'm trying to help.
Hold still.
That's just my head, Bebo.
Bebo, please go retrieve the first aid kit
and assist me.
On it. He'll
drop the jacket and scuttle off to where the kit is, uh, breaking open the emergency glass,
even though there's a latch that you just need to open it. With all the drama, he can muster.
He wrenches the kit out and scrambles back. I've got it. I've got it. We're good, folks. It's a
tentacle. I'm lucky I didn't get an eyeball. Mutations aside, you are injured. Do not fight back.
I'm going to make a sound out of my mango.
I take out my knife and begin to scrape whatever the amber that is coating the outside of this mango that has kept it pristine for however long I was also trapped inside the amber.
Now it is just a standard mango that you could find anywhere.
I coat the gauze with combination of whatever antiseptic and solves we had in the first aid kit.
and this Amber and place it upon him.
You don't have to do that. That's your mango.
I do what I want.
Kesa recover one aspect damage.
Just watch out for the new guy, and that new tentacle is like slapping around manically
on the back of his head and arcing out little static electricity arcs
as you're trying to work around it.
But Keza's body almost instantly swallows the bandage.
but in so doing that amber causes the malleable skin to regrow over a lot of those issues.
And now there are these beautiful like golden rays dancing underneath that gray squid skin where the amber sits.
You hear applause from the other ship as they congratulate you on surviving the Kresor encounter.
And already you can see this.
This conflagrant swarm bored your ship looking and going after the crezer that you collected.
They wave goodbye and they begin making their way back through the Maseraya and the godsinger's left alone.
Well, Bebo, it's your first real harvest. Congratulations, kid.
And he punches Bebo on the shoulder there.
Bebo looks down at the suit and the tear and the impact that it had on you.
It was scary, but kind of exciting.
I've always wanted to be out there and see what it's like.
Not on a ship, just in the wind where I put all my stories.
You do this enough and it becomes a way of life.
I was born in the CRES, baby.
And he gestures out to the awful black,
purple pit of CRES that exists below.
This is life right here, Bibo.
I think I'm going to patch this hole.
It seems important.
Oh, yeah, unless you want a couple new eyes.
If you fall in there, all sorts of things can happen.
And his coat starts to, like, flutter out with its own leather.
There's a hoof kind of growing now out of,
out of the jacket.
These are the worst to get out.
You have to shave them down first.
Zinn has been pointing his
rifle at your jacket ever since.
He finished patching you up.
And he's just like, why are we keeping this on the ship?
Hey, if it doesn't have a face, you're okay.
It's moving.
I'm going to my room now.
Thanks, buddy.
There's a little bit of Krezor on Bebo's
suit and it kind of looks like
Bebo's on fire as some of this
conflagrant swarm has started to
munch on the Cresor on his suit.
Wow. Certainly I'm glad we're not
back where I need it to be normal.
He says looking down at the flames that surround
him and he tips his hat.
Just point of reference,
the barrel do not breathe around it,
okay? Because you'll go insane.
Okay. And he starts moving back
towards the observation.
The sun now is
beginning to crest over the side of Red Crown,
disappearing slowly behind its side.
Your ship is beginning to be covered in this conflagrant swarm.
We are now a flaming, speeding, saw bullet.
And that should be celebrated.
Captain Zanko points his head out from the helm.
What's next? Do we get back to it or what?
Yeah, I'm going to call out on the loudspeaker, like, skip the orchard.
We've got Lee.
We've got these bugs.
And we've got what I feel is a pretty good trap.
At least one way or another.
Yeah, Bebo hits the big button on the wall.
He has two choices.
One is a big green button and one is a big red button
that he's drawn an angry face on with like scratches.
And he hits the green button as he hears the suggestion.
And then goes back to tending the Leviathan hard.
He has a little hammock setup down there.
he kind of hops up into the hammock and he's holding the coat over his head kind of a loft,
so the canvas outfit that he had been wearing with the Krezer Harvest.
And he's holding it above his head and he, like, is just looking at the hole.
He's kind of looking through it.
And then looks down at the hole in his arm that never healed from earlier and looks through that hole.
And he's like holding it up to see if they match.
You hear from the communication device clicks in the affirmative as Zand is not
He hasn't returned back to his post of Overwatch.
He's in his room speaking to Lee right now.
The ship picks back up the heart beating.
The captain calls out on the speaker.
The good news is that we went so fast.
We knocked the whole day off our travel.
So we'll travel through the night and I think we'll be pretty close to the snarl,
at least in the next day or two.
And he cuts off.
And the ship moves ever onward into the main.
Mesiraya, flaming from the conflagrant swarm, but still traveling. The sun sets and the darkness
envelops the Mesiraya, a series of outposts, many of them distant, but occasionally you'll pass
one. And sure enough, it looks like some kind of pre-verdent structure, a tower or a building of some
kind that has been fastened to the top of an iron route. And at the very top of it, this
swarm of conflagrant
bugs, seeming like a
gigantic torch that
you can see for
miles around, gliding
the areas around it.
Tell me, Lee,
more about the creature that you saw.
Lee sits down
and he's sipping on some tea
now and he says, well,
I gotta be honest, I didn't get
the best look at it, but it was
really big.
Like, filled up most of the car
space,
fleshy in tone,
a lot of eyes,
and it had these kind of tentacles
that were writhing around
and poking through the holes of the ship.
It was so terrifying,
I had no choice.
I had to go.
I retract back into my memory,
trying to search for anything
that could correlate
between what he's just said
and anything that I could have seen
or may have been described to me.
Build a pool.
Cut of one.
There are,
many stories of strange creatures on the wild sea.
It sounds like a leviathan, maybe a proto-leviathan,
since it isn't as big as the entire ship.
But the description that he gives doesn't seem like anything you've ever come across.
Take a whisper.
Less said the better.
I thank you for the information.
I'll get you a new set of clothes.
Zinn, before you leave,
I wanted to thank you for, well, saving my life pretty much.
Not a problem.
Captain Oryk, if he was his normal self, I'd say that, yeah, maybe fighting's the only option,
but he was acting so strange, so out of character.
There might be other ways of getting close to them.
I'm more of a shoot people person.
Well, hopefully there's somebody aboard the ship.
Help heavens, help us, if it is be able.
He seemed like a pretty sweet guy.
I would check your pockets.
I think that Keza is going to go
sort of off shift
once the ship is sort of on autopilot.
He claps Zanko on the back
and gives him a hug from the side there,
fixes his hat
so that it's completely in front of his
plank face. If he was a real
person, he'd be blinded.
But instead, he
marches off towards his room.
And upon the doors shuttering open to Keza's room,
it's revealed that the entirety of that place is filled wall to wall with these
hand-drawn maps.
It does not look like Keza has much in the way of personal effects.
There are very few things, little trinkets, all of them pre-verdency,
like he's been hoarding them.
But inside, he goes to his bed and flips under the cover of the pillow and pulls out the amber map that they have found just recently, the amber encrusted chart.
It's covered in a lot of what Zinn used to repair him earlier today, and so parts of it is hard to read through.
but the nautical components are still very much intact,
and it has a set of coordinates.
In addition to the exact coordinates,
there is a third page within that bundle of charts
that when unfolded is almost completely unreadable,
lost to the amber,
except for a single corner in the bottom right
that holds an emblem that is preverdancy
that Keza still has still.
has yet to figure out what it means.
But he does take that coat that had fallen off his front.
He sets it out in front on top of the amber,
and he matches the right lapel to that right bottom corner emblem,
and he's sure that the two meet and that they match,
and that they must have some sort of connection.
And so taking that disgusting tentacled jacket,
he tosses to the side and devotes another day to cutting off the hood,
but instead puts that amber encrusted map square in the center of all of the others,
almost creating a map of the world as far as he could see it in relation to distance.
And he starts the arduous process of creating a project track,
and that is to discern the meaning of this emblem.
And so today he's going to cross-reference everything he has on this wall
to see if he's any closer to knowing what this means.
It's called this a five dot track, project track.
Okay.
Fill the first one as you pour over these many maps.
And maybe more importantly, the meaning of this symbol, this map that leads to some place in the center of Sharfall.
At this time of night, Bebo is in the engine room, but he is more relaxed.
He has hung his floppy hat on the wall on a hook that he installed for himself for that purpose.
He has his kind of mushroom flesh in curlers, as though it's hair,
just kind of like keeping things off of his neck and keeping things free and nimble.
And he has some music playing.
He has like a phonograph or device that is just like spinning out some nice calming jazz or something adjacent
that fills the room and keeps the heart beating in time to the tempo.
And he is kind of walking around in the canvas suit as though it's a bathrobe.
Like he has it open in the front.
And he's like walking around and gesticulating, like someone preparing for a play,
just talking out into the air and reciting things.
And looking down at the floor, he has a bunch of letters that come from the letter pack
that Fasu, the dragonfly, carries.
He's has them spread out, and he's just reading pieces of them.
Like, he's definitely opened up other people's mail.
He's just simply looking for clues for this paper-michet figurine that he has,
this kind of precious piece of mail that was entrusted to him to deliver.
And with, like, he's, like, gnawing on a piece of ration,
like has it in his mouth, like a cigar.
He's just kind of, like, stubbing at the end with sponge.
the teeth and I'm going through this letter to see if there's any clue, any sense of what this could be and why it was so important to the person that gave it to him.
Looking at this little paper mache figurine, it seems so
so fragile as if in all of your adventures with it, it should have shattered a long ago and yet here it is still in your hand.
But you feel at any moment you could just put a little bit of pressure and crush it.
The letter that came with it is obtuse and vague.
See to it that you put this to good use,
the person that gave you this explaining that you would find the person that needs it in Raggedwood.
He remembers these things and kind of stubbing on the ration,
kind of gumming it to the point where it gets soft and he just accidentally eats it
and then looks at the bit end and starts all over again.
Ah, Basu, ragged wood.
I think maybe I should have been less hasty when those pirates boarded us.
I, at the time, didn't even think about it, but maybe they would know a clue about this.
I think they were from there.
I wonder if we'll see them again.
Zin kind of scared the heck out of him.
Basu has long since begun snoring.
he'll pick up some of the letters, those undelivered letters that he's been reading as though they're a script.
And just like smooth them out, keep the crinkles, the wrinkles off of them.
And read one through in its entirety just to kind of maybe learn something new or just keep things fresh for him.
He's really studying these things.
So as he finishes reading through the letters, he finds one from a fellow gao and the salutation is written in gowen.
And he can't read all of it because he doesn't speak it that well.
But as he kind of finishes reading the letter, he falls asleep with it on his chest.
And it infiltrates his dreams, the language of his people.
that he hasn't heard spoken aloud very often at all, kind of rises up in a sing-song voice,
the same lullaby that Zinn had been singing earlier, but all in Gowan.
And it sings of the ways of the gau that he has not lived personally.
They tell of places deep and dark, places even darker than the Cres that he saw earlier,
that dark void.
But instead of being afraid, he feels warmth and woe.
and kind of like a place of incubation and safety.
His mire saddled secrets from messages past,
tug at your dreams, surfaces.
The evening passes, and eventually the new day comes.
I find myself, top side, just staring out at the expanse before us.
Still trying to figure out what that creature, what could it be.
The sun is, as it's rising on the horizon, is currently blocked by a massive cubulinebous cloud
that hovers just on the top of the canopy.
Yeah, I think that he wakes up late, like shocked into being awake and slept on his desk in front of that big map.
He goes to wear his coat and then looks over to see the hoof kicking at the back of the coat.
He goes, maybe not today.
So he steps out in this little wife pleaser and big belt with all of these things hanging from his sides
and these tall, gray, very dirty, probably still has the rainbow blood on them from yesterday.
Cargo pants that are tucked into big ass kicker boots and sort of drags his sawsheath behind himself as he goes up to join Zinn on the top deck,
realizing that it's another day of work.
but he's straight to it.
As he's yawning and coming out to Zan,
what's the situation?
What's going on?
As you approach, you hear him speaking out loud about the creature.
He was talking to the wind waiting for it to talk back.
He was speaking, and so you hear him saying,
what is this creature?
I was thinking something similar.
I mean, what kind of a monster needs an extra ship?
Unless it's not the thinker,
and the captain still is,
but then why is the captain keeping the monster?
According to Lee, it is so large that portions of it are escaping through holes inside of the ship.
You see Lee kind of stepping up some steps holding some warm tea, half asleep.
Lee, that giant monster, you know, did you ever happen to see the other ships they took before you were kicked off?
When they had captured the third ship, the screw loose, uh, shortly after that,
left. I never boarded them, though. Captain Oric kept us all kind of segmented and regimented
and on our own ships. Settles for the best.
I'm thinking, Zinn, and tell me if I'm thinking out loud too much. What if it needs another ship?
Because it's, you know, getting a little old and hoping to settle down and have a few kids.
maybe the monster needs a ship
maybe the monster's making monsters
maybe that's what I would want to do with the godsinger here
possible but that leaves far too many questions
that I'm unable to answer if I think about them I grow very upset
Bebo finishes the last of a night of fitful dreams
in which a family of Gao
lead him to the surface breaking through the
rambles and breaking through to the sun up above where he sees the god singer and all of the
gau holding hands and singing in a language he barely understands, wave to him and he waves back.
And in his dream, he kind of wave walks like he did with Keza back over to the god singer,
seeing Zinn and Keza and even the captain.
And he runs to them in this dream and hugs them.
His arms stretching enormously long, impossibly long, to just wrap them all in a big embrace.
And he wakes up kind of hugging the coat and saying, oh, yes, not being a stowaway, my family.
And then he falls out of the hammock, kind of smacking himself awake.
Ah, no.
He begins to collect the papers where he lands and puts them back into the post sack and joins everyone above the deck, kind of with a sheepish look of someone who is thinking illicit thoughts.
People who are completely normal, colleagues, to me.
Let's take a break to think some people.

And now, back to the show.
Morning, buddy.
Feeling normal this morning?
I'm feeling 50-50, he says, rubbing the sleep out of five of his eyes.
Captain Zanko joins you and says, as much as yesterday was a bit of a shit show, we did make a lot of progress.
I could technically keep forging ahead.
and get there within the day, by the end of the day at least.
We'd be close to the snarl.
That's what they said the pirates were last seen.
I wonder, before we move forward at such great speed,
should I send Basu out for that decoy message that we talked about
so that they know about the manifest?
I'm worried they're going to take them, though.
My idea is that the pigeons get stolen.
Are you okay with Basu being waylaid until we come get them?
I'll ask him.
Maybe he's bored.
He did fall asleep pretty early last night,
and I was in the middle of a very important monologue.
Basu is in the middle of flittering around Lee.
He's like trying to push him away,
but for some reason, Basu's getting a kick out of bothering him.
Biba walks up wearing Lee's pocket watch kind of like a little bit out of his pocket watch,
so like just the top part is sticking out.
He had stolen it the day before.
Good morning, Lee.
Basu, can I talk to you?
for a moment? Are you up for a long haul? I know. Your wings get pretty tired lately. And also,
are you comfortable being kidnapped? I guess I should have opened with that.
It shakes his head emphatically, no. Like a temporary thing. Like a couple of days off.
Basu flies away from you into the highest point of the ship. Pigeons, it is.
The pigeons will not argue. And they do not, as you pull them out in their cage.
Now, in the spirit of propaganda and lies, messaging is very important.
What do we want this to say?
We should include what is on the ship's manifest, perhaps gesturing to the bugs.
We can simply say that that ship comes with a mechanism to control it innately.
We could maybe use the fire to corral the captain towards the ship.
That's what I was telling Zinn, is that we were thinking of doing a big,
circle of them and then putting the ship square in the middle. Oh, I'm stranded. I can't get out of this
flame circle. I'm just a helpless womb of a ship waiting for something to impregnate me.
Wait a minute. You lost me at womb. No worries. You'll find out soon enough if my theory is correct.
Bibo takes up the paper for the pigeon.
So far, we have really juicy cargo.
Ship maybe in distress?
Is it a distress letter?
I think we need to give a good reason why they sent another ship knowing what's going on.
Well, from what I know about our friend who gave us this job,
he sure likes to collect great things.
and I would like to go back and collect some of them myself.
So maybe he heard of something very exciting
that he just needed to have despite the dangers.
I know that's why I would go out on a ship.
Lee speaks up who's been sipping his tea in the corner and he says,
there was something about Captain Oric in shiny things.
He ordered before I left the entire crew
to pull all of the shiny things in the hull of the ship
and start stapling them and staking them,
and sticking them to the outer hole.
Oh, wow.
That's very strange, and such a great idea.
So the manifest is going to draw on.
We've got a bunch of shiny things.
What if we said, and he looks a little hesitantly over
in Lee's direction, just sort of floating the idea.
What if we said Lee was helming the new ship?
You could include that, but I don't even.
even though I matter to Captain Orica.
Might find it interesting.
It's got to know by now that I left.
Might draw him out, right?
Maybe.
Yeah.
Especially if we rename you, Lee, Revenge, Captain.
I've never had a last name.
So that works.
I like that.
Lee Revenge.
No, Lee Revenge Captain.
Shouldn't that be in the front?
No.
This is perfect.
Bebo's taking all of his down.
So Lee Revenge Captain is sending an outrigger from the company.
They thought it be safe because they sent us.
But we fucked off, got lost, died in a fire.
Now they're flying alone.
They have nowhere to go.
They're shiny as fuck and a perfect little.
I'm not going to say it, but a great ship for them to steal.
Bebo has been writing everything except for that last part and he pauses.
How do I sign it off?
Lee Revenge Captain?
Up to you, he says, holding out the paper for Lee to sign.
Was there some kind of symbol you guys used to use to signal each other?
So he knows it's authentic.
Yeah, there was a symbol.
Yeah, there was a sign off that we would use.
He walks over to the paper and signs it and kind of does this big swirly circle.
Look, if I help you, then I want to be part of the crew.
It seems like you guys are a lot of fun.
What do you do?
Well, I'm good with the rigging and I know my way around some sawprows.
The Happy Eater has a huge sawprow.
Really?
Okay.
How long do you expect to be with a new company that you're joining?
This is not some permanent thing.
We've caught the Amber chart.
We're going to go there.
We're going to find out what happens there.
And then we'll all retire in opposite directions.
You're not going to be the first ship that drops me off somewhere and I get on another ship.
Sure, that's fine.
And we believe in a hierarchy here.
So you're going to have to like earn your keep and everything.
And you're going to start below Bebo.
Yeah, in fact, Bivo's your direct.
I'm your boss now.
Yes.
Bibo says pointing to himself.
Yeah, I'm not going to do any of that.
I'm going to help you out because you need my help.
And otherwise, I'm just going to find another ship.
All right?
You need my help or not?
I respect that.
Lee and actually good choice Lee.
I don't respect that. That was shit. Bebo's a great leader.
He'd be an awesome boss.
I give great feedback.
When you turn around, Lee is already kind of tying up some robe and doing his part.
Lee, we talked about it. If you can pull your worth, you're in.
Fine. And if I die, I need you to go to Split Spear and give my mom a letter, okay?
I can definitely help you with that, Bibo says, stepping up to him.
I'll write it this afternoon and we'll do your crazy decoy plan.
Sure, I'm in.
Yes.
Yes, yes, yes, yes, yes.
We gotta hit the engines then, boys.
We're out of here.
All right, I'm on it, and my new employee can help.
Come on, Lee, this way.
I'll show you the ropes.
He begins to walk down to the engine room and,
You can just see a little bit more of a swagger to his walk.
And Lee reluctantly follows.
I believe I'm going to go back up to the helm and assist Captain Zanko.
Unless Zinn, you would like to take over for this leg.
I'm okay with that, too.
Yeah, I'll take the helm this time as well.
Yeah.
Yeah, all yours.
I'll keep watch.
The ship finally picks up speed, full speed ahead, flying through the Mesiraya.
Blurs of orchards pass you every once in a while.
Just under the canopy, these different structures,
handmade structures like webbing across the underside of canopy.
Sometimes ship gardens full of growing plants.
The Mesariah is alive with farms and orchards,
but very few boats.
The only kind you see is the occasional outrider
moving from orchard to orchard.
Keza, roll a D6.
Let's see what you find on watch.
Hmm.
Something within nature.
I think that we find that there is a strange storm on the horizon
affecting the outlook of the day's weather.
On your starboard side,
one of many of these cumuline imbis clouds
that you have seen that are just gliding on the surface of the canopy is dark and erupting with lightning.
And high above it is a floating iron jaw.
This massive beast with these horns that wrap around the front of its head,
a mouth so large you think you could swallow the godsinger hole,
and is heading in a southerly direction towards Raggedwood,
dragging this storm alongside with.
Yeah, I think that I'm going to raise one of the flags on deck
that hazards like caution, but not immediate emergency,
raising it through off of our rigging,
and then I'm going to click that Morse code on my belt up to Zinn,
storms ahead, fuck.
I get over the speaker system.
We will progress slowly.
We have time.
At the time the Godsinger slows down, you've already entered the cloud.
Zinn, roll a ship raiding world to see how you fare in the storm.
I was rolling stealth.
The ship enters the storm, and sure enough, it is heavy, heavy rain, pelting the godsinger.
There is a single strike of lightning that hits the side of the hull, sparks flashing,
and the ship will take one dot of raiding.
damage to itself.
Hours pass as you
slow down and attempt
to make your way through this storm
safely on the
other side when the clouds eventually
part. You find
yourself still in the
Mesoraya. Having chosen to
slow down as the sun
sets in the distance,
you realize
you still have a full day of travel before
you get to where you want in the
snarl. Now that we
We are through.
I believe we can go at our normal pace.
When I leave the helm and I leave it to the captain, I go back down to my room and I begin
to concentrate on the damage that I took on my arm where it has been indented.
I have some ceramic plating in my salvage bag and I use that.
So while concentrating on the portion that has been damaged on me, I hold this.
ceramic plating and functionally the amber
disintegrates that and uses it to rebuild
a part of my actual metal frame.
You roll a five or a four which is heal one mark
of damage to an aspect.
Bebo is going to sit cross-legged
with four of the legs to create a little bit of height
so he's not even touching the ground,
stacked up on his mushroom legs,
sitting next to the heart.
reading through some of the letters that he hasn't opened yet,
so he uses a letter opener to slice them open
and see the old dates, see the old recipients,
and the messages that were never delivered.
As he pours over these documents,
he's going to munch on some mushrooms
that he has growing near him,
and they're kind of growing out of a pool of oil
that is kind of spilling out of the Leviathan heart as it beats.
There's little gears and things whirring around the bottom,
and dips it in the engine oil and just kind of like munches on some of these mushrooms.
So he'll spend that specimen.
He finds a letter that was written by the Stowaway who taught him how to be on ships
and stay hidden and entrusted and with this paper-machet figurine that he has yet to figure out where to deliver it or what its significance is.
And this letter was hit.
was hidden to him for a while because on the front of it, it is not addressed to the individual
nor assigned by him, but he recognizes the handwriting. And so he spends the rest of the night,
reading it, searching it for clues, trying to figure out if there's any new information.
He can put to ragged wood, put to the archonautics, put to any of this puzzle. And he falls
asleep in this pile of mushrooms like one does studying for a hard test, just kind of face down
in the letter and the oil kind of spreading over the edges of it as he falls asleep snoring
to the rhythm of the engine heart. Recovery two aspect damage. As you begin to fall asleep,
you look up and you notice that the pigeon with the message is still in its cage, cooing
at you. All of his limbs extend like,
hair from someone being electrocuted.
Just kind of some of it loses its shape and becomes amorphous and drops to the floor with splats.
And he rushes up to the cage and quickly undoes it.
Clutching the pigeon to his chest kind of runs up to the deck as quietly as he can, squelching as he goes.
And into the night sky, he whispers,
Just pretend that you, we're traveling already.
Just go quick, okay?
and just launches it into the air.
It flutters off and flies into the direction that you sent it.
Kesa spent the day, the full day's ride,
mapping out that area since he wasn't at the helm.
I think he was very restless.
He never knows what to do with himself.
He's not doing, like, the most active thing he could be doing.
And so he sets out his journal,
he sets out his camera situation,
and he, like, positions himself,
on the exact shiphead of the bow,
sort of precariously hanging over
what is the active saw situation underneath,
really packed in with his ears,
the earplugs to make sure that he's not damaging his body,
but being close to the exact heart
of what's carving through the verdancy here.
And he spends his day charting the area
and watching for what it is that they're breaking into
as they get closer and closer to what will inevitably
be where they set this trap.
And so when Knight comes on
and he gets this chance
to take his own time,
he takes everything he's collected from today
and sitting on the bow of the ship
with this great big floodlight
expousing out what urgency they're cutting down.
He stays out there
and tries to collect that information
into a fresh chart of the area.
He can use to map out the perfect
spot for the ambush.
So he's trying to acquire a chart.
Create a four-track
project and fill
three dots.
As you recall, different
landmarks, red
crown, the
outpost,
the rift,
different things that you've seen along the way.
The evening comes,
but when the new day
arrives. It arrives with the sound of the whistle, the steam whistle aboard the ship. It's Captain
Zanko waking you all up. Yeah, the whistle worries Keza. He immediately goes and still manages to put on
that hoof coat and get his saw ready across his half and he rushes for the helm, not knowing what
he's going to see, but he's beating feet. He's barely ready. He's running off into the hallways,
putting on one boot he hasn't finished
and, you know, it's like firemen ready for rescue.
He's running to see the captain.
Zim also not used to the whistle actually being used
immediately dresses for the day
but does not holster his pistol.
Pistol is out by the time when he's running out.
It's immediately ready for a fight.
Just looking around as I make it onto the deck of the ship.
Veebo lifts his face off the ground where he fell asleep on the papers,
kind of wipes some drool and stray spores that extend in a little puff from his face
and goes up and grabs his hat, puts it on backwards,
is like shoving all of his limbs into various trouser legs,
and everything is kind of a Kimbo twisted up.
As he rushes up the stairs, kind of still pulling on part of his jacket,
he follows the others and kind of bangs on the door where he knows Lee is sleeping and says,
first report, come on, follow the boss, as he makes his way towards the sound of the whistle.
The door immediately opens and Lee follows you up the stairs, up to the top deck.
Captain Zanko at the helm turns to you all and says,
Sorry for the scare, but I needed to let you know,
we've arrived that he gestures past him.
Before the godsinger is an expanse of massive jagged,
rocks at weird
angles piercing the canopy
matched with
the ruins of
former ships that have
long since been run
aground on these
rocks. Captain Zanko
says, we've arrived at the snarl.
This place is about as
dangerous as it gets where I'm going to have to
move real slow when we position ourselves.
But
we can hide
and we can lay a trap
but so can they
so we'll have to watch our asses
and I think that's where we will leave
our session for today
