Inside, everybody, you feel the connection weakened just a little bit more. I think back at the array, Elion would just like finish firing these weapons. And like when he turns to Stoyer and Betty at this point, probably Benny's also there too. There's like a tear coming down his face and he wipes it and he's just like, Why doesn't it feel like it's over? There's something we missed. And I think that Isaac's just going to find some sort of computer terminal to sit down and, you know, hit the floor on and put his hands over his bald head and stare at the others and go, it's over. Just as you say this, I need everybody to roll power.

I failed power. Yeah, fail. Success. Success. Success. Those who succeed, you feel this awareness of something pressing against the very fabric of reality, just like before. Everyone roll 1D4. And then remove that from willpower?

Yep. I have three willpower left. Oh, fuck. I just lost three right now. Oh, yeah. So whatever willpower you lose, you take that much out of your willpower points and your sanity. Great. I hit my breaking point.

I wouldn't worry about that too much. I think you've got bigger problems to worry about right now. You hear this flash, this burst of, it can't be thunder. It is louder than anything you've ever heard in your life. It has to be what the people at Los Alamos heard when they detonated the first nuclear bomb. It had to be what the people at Hiroshima and Nagasaki heard when that bomb went off. It is nuclear in its sheer power and size and death. And you feel it rattle your bones, the atoms, everything in between.

You feel it threatened to rip you apart. and for those who manage to cast a glimpse of outside, you see this brilliant flash of blue-white light and this all-encompassing, all-piercing, shrieking of all sorts of tones and whistles, and you clasp your hands to your ears and begin screaming, and you can't even hear the sounds of your own shrieks. You see something in the middle of this light,

this black shape stretching and reaching and bubbling and lurching as it just pierces through the sky and collapses down and sweeps through you and the array and everything and you are one. I need everybody to roll sanity. I succeed with the 10. I fail. I deeply fail. Succeed. God, I don't know how, but I succeed. Those who exceed lose one. For those who fail, roll 1D10. I am temporarily insane because I do hit 5 on that D10.

Yep. Jessica is also temporarily insane. And when you open your eyes, you're back in the building. 6.46 p.m. are you kidding me? Fuck. Bethany, Ileon, and Gray. You are with Evan in the lab to the left of the building. and Jessica and Benny, you are with Dr. Takagawa again.

And Isaac, you were back with Jing Fei in the computer lab. Jessica and Benny watches Dr. Takagawa awakens with a start. Where? Uh, you, you, your office. Your office. It's, um, who are, uh, who are you? Dr. Takagawa. I'm, I'm Benny.

This is my friend, Jessica. Jessica. We've met. Do you remember us? No. Dr. Takagawa, what's the last thing you remember? Oh, I, um, I remember I, there was the, uh, I, I, I don't know.

I, I, I just remember going out to the atrium and I remember a week. That's it. I need you to, I, I need you to, I know this might be difficult, but how can you shut this thing down? Not just the server and destroying it, but how else can you break the connection? The connection with what? With D, with whatever D is, whatever sending the signals back repeatedly. I mean, I'm sure I don't understand what you're talking about.

I'm sorry. I have to use the bathroom. Just a moment, Mr. Dr. Togder, doctor. Just for, we're from the energy department, and there are dangerous levels of energy being used at this facility, and we may have to shut it down for the safety of the... For everyone here, for your staff, your co-workers, how do you shut it down? You can't, you can't do that.

the experiment has to continue. This is... No, no, it doesn't. The experiment needs to stop. So how do you shut it down? The atrium, you just... I mean, if you can shut it down from there. Just from there?

And the server, is there another... Is there another thing that we're not aware of? I don't handle D. All I know is that if there's an emergency shutdown in the atrium, if you need to, but... Okay. I'd like to think that back in the A. Eleon is like stumbling back from this vision that we've all just experienced. And although he hasn't gone insane, it's starting to dawn on him what all of this means and their connection to this.

And he's kind of just like not ready to take the step that he is thinking of, but he's definitely like, oh my God, oh my God. And he's looking to everyone else in the room, I think. Kersner said we had to sleep or die. That's the last thing she said to me. To get out or to remember next time. How do we sleep? I mean, do we just, do we have sleeping pills? I mean, I, I don't know.

Well, we can't get everybody. We can't just convince everybody to nap. The last time, the last time we didn't put it. We didn't kill all of them last time. That's what we did wrong. Whoa, what the fuck? What the fuck are you doing? Helland, we have time to sort this out. Isn't it fucking obvious what we have to do? We've been doing this over and over again.

I know, but you're about to set off a chain of vents you're not ready for. What the fuck is going on? I'm going to try to knock Evans out. I'm going to punch him in the back of the neck. Okay. Roll on arm. That is a failure with an 85. Bethany, as soon as you go to strike out at him, he kind of, he sees you, come in and he steps back and says, what the fuck is wrong with you people?

Somebody help, and he goes running. I'm going to try to grab him. Tackle him, Elyon. Yeah, go and roll unarmed. We'll see if you can get him as he passes. A failure. 70%. You reach out to try to bear hug him and you just

he's a small, skinny kind of guy and he just kind of juke's you and goes busting out the door running down the hall. I want to pull out my pistol. I'm going to look at Bethany and I'll be like, I'm going to cover you. I need you to go get Lucy.

Of course. We'll shift and we'll go see what's going on with Mr. Isaac. We haven't heard from Isaac in a minute. I think that since going into my breaking point there, Isaac has been sitting there, not even remotely looking at Jing Faye here. He's scratching at the tattoo on his neck and he's counting down the minutes. I mean, literally, he's going down. He's down in 192, 191, 190.

He can't break himself out of the situation. So we'll say your new disorder is obsessive-compulsive disorder. And Jingfei looks at you from the corner of her eye. What's wrong with you? Nothing. Same thing that's wrong with you. I keep counting there. We don't have much time, Jing-Fay.

I know about D. I know about what you're doing and I know what it's doing to you and I need to know how to fix it and how to turn this thing off. What are you talking about? I know that D is talking with the array that's talking with something in the sky that we do not understand and is going to kill us at 10 o'clock tonight. I have been here. You have been here and we are going to be there again if you don't tell me what the fuck to do. I think it's time for you to leave, Mr. Stoyer. Okay, before I go, is there any way I could talk to Dr. Black on my way out? I'm sure he'd be more than happy to talk to you. He should be in his office.

Maybe he can tell me about Helen Klinger, right? Sure he can. Has Helen showed up to work today? Of course. It's the first day of the array. Everyone's on... Not everyone's here. Where is Helen? Probably making her rounds. Where?

I have more important things to worry about than Dr. Klinger's whereabouts. A lot of fucking help you are, thank you. I'm gonna stand up, and I'm gonna walk over to where I know Mr. Black's, or Dr. Black's office is. Well, I think by this time I've scratched the skin over my tattoo on the neck so far that I'm bleeding from my fingernails there. And I have one, one, uh, eye line on my wrist watch on my left hand, and then I'll start knocking on the door. Uh, Dr. Black. Dr. Black, Dr. Black?

He steps up and opens the door. What? What is it? What do you want? I'm going to step in. Let's have a talk. And then I'm going to try and step them back into the room and shut the door behind me. Fine. Okay. Fine.

Come in. Come in. I'm going to take a desk chair if there's like an available one or whatever I can and try and wedge the lock in behind me. Oh, okay. As soon as he sees that, he goes to lunge at you. to try to get his arms around you, but he fails miserably. I'm going to grab him by the shoulders, try and keep him at bay,

but I'm trying to stay as calm as possible. Look them in the eyes. I haven't blinked since I walked into this room, and I'm going to say to him, wait, wait, I've heard the drums. You've heard them too? I've heard them. With that, let's shoot back on over to Bethany and Gray. as you start making your way out to go get Lucy,

you see Karen Henson, the security officer, coming in with her gun drawn. What's going on? This guy is going crazy. He's starting to just spout off. He's being rude as fuck, and then he swung at me. Don't listen to him.

They fucking attacked me. Look at him. He's raising his voice. He got really erratic. I was asking him a simple question about some of these, uh, some of the elements in this other room.

and he just goes and just gets really agitated. What is going on? Roll persuade. I succeed with a 10. She looks over at Evan. Mr. Cossack, calm down. I'm not going to fucking calm down. Who in the fucking arrest then?

Evan, relax. Yeah, Evan, relax. I'm fucking taking crazy pills or something. What the fuck is going on? Evan, just come here. Take a deep breath. Elion this whole time is trying to make his way out the front door. He's just, you know, everyone's talking and he's just kind of starting to wander his way.

Yeah, well, easy enough. We'll see you're able to make it out the front door. You kind of, Officer Hansen definitely has more important things to worry about right now. So she kind of steps aside, gives you a look as you head on out. If we're going to the same place, can I just leave with smoking? Yeah, definitely. So Elion walks out to the car with Betty, and I'm just going to pull another gun. that's in there.

I'm going to turn around and I'm going to look for a breaker box. I'm going to wander around the campus until I find one. Roll search. Critical fail with a 66. Yeah, as you're running around looking for this breaker box,

you can't seem to find one. But as you're running, we'll say you're on this side of the building, on the east side of the building, making another pass. And you see Mr. Gonzalez's come around the corner. What's going on? At this point, there's only one thing

Alien can think to do, and I'm just going to shoot at him. Go ahead and roll firearms. Failed by two. Yeah, just surprised by the sudden appearance of the security guard, you start moving to get behind cover, at least to get behind that corner of the building, put something in between you and him, and you pop off two quick shots to at least get his head down,

hoping to hit him, but unfortunately they miss. And he takes a step back, and starts pursuing. He's actually going to take a shot at you. So let's see how he does. He's equally shocked by suddenly being shot at. So he moves to cover behind the corner of the building, gets a couple shots off, but he misses completely.

With that, he's screaming into his radio, Gray. You just watch Henson, listen to a radio, give you all a look, and immediately start running out. Fuck. Bethany's going to try to, like, cover. Elion as much as she can. So I would notice Henson, and I'd probably say to Agent Moth, look out! Take out that one! And I point at the ones coming out of the office.

Point-click. Go ahead and roll. And you're doing this with Lucy, right? Yes. Yeah, what is Lucy? Oh, Lucy is a shotgun. Oh, yeah, that's a pass for the 41. That's 15 points of damage. Bethany, you raise Lucy up to your shoulder,

And you know that with shotguns, it's not about accuracy. It's about sheer volume of fire as all these little metal pellets has come rushing out of the barrel at your intended target. But you might as well be a sniper with this thing. Her head blossoms open like some fucked up meat flour. And the skin falls away as her bone and brain goes splattering across the front door. and she drops. Since I heard the gunshot, I probably would know that's Benny, Betty and Lucy.

So I'll just draw my gun on Kozak and I'll just tell him it's like, there's no one who's going to help you. But I need answers from you because I'm tired of this shit. I'm tired of killing people. Kozai, do you understand what I'm saying to you? He probably understands what you're saying,

but he lashes out and he tries to grab your weapon from you. Oh, let's go. He starts screaming at the top of his lungs, just this, this feral, nonsensical, just, ah, ha, fucking belts you across the cheek. And there's not much behind it, not a strong guy. You take one point of damage. Nice.

That's his own weird form of suicide right there. There's just no way he lives after this. So we haven't seen what Jessica and Benny have been up to with Dr. Takagawa. As you're kind of dealing with Dr. Takagawa and trying to get him calm and figure out, get more information from him, you hear first a faint gunshot, then running, then screaming, then people telling Evan to calm down. Then you hear five, six gunshots in rapid succession, and then you hear Lucy. and Dr. Takagawa sets up straight.

What's going on out there? Nothing that really, unfortunately, you can prevent or stop, but we can stop, which I know you know what that thing does. I know you know something on the other side, so help us stop this, please, please, please. Before you can even finish your sentence, he shoots up and tries to grab you, Jessica. But as he does, he overshoots, and he kind of just,

easily you step aside and he goes past and loses his footing a little bit, but he turns around and the kindly disoriented doctor is gone and this is now something else entirely. Oh, I'm gonna try, can I try and grapple him like get my, get the, the choke where you like loop your arm up and then just like... Roll, uh, yes, go ahead and roll unarmed.

Come on, years of childhood fighting. Don't fail me now. That's a 91. That fails me now. Yeah. You go to try to grip him, and he just, he's, he's, he's, he's moving. He's trying, he's kind of darting around the office, getting, putting chairs in between you and him.

And he is hard to pin down right now. Well, the, the room is flooded with the scent of, of urine at this point as you realize that this man in his, in his rage as just, you see the dark stain spreading down his pants. Yeah. Grab me now. See what happens. Is it glowing? Is it glowing?

100% is glowing. His eyes are glowing. The inside of his mouth is glowing as he's screaming at you. Roll sanity. I roll the 69. It's not nice. Roll 1D4. Elyon. Back to you. What are you doing? I'm just crouching down behind the building and I'm waiting for him to come close. And when he does, I'm just going to fire at him.

Yeah, you hear him kind of coming. around the building. If I see him, I'm firing. Critical success with an 11. Okay. So we'll say, yeah, it's close enough to point blank. You put the, you focus that front sight right on the center of his forehead, and you squeeze the trigger, and the back of his head explodes out.

Oh, holy shit. I was not expecting that. I'm going to pick myself up, and I'm going to walk back into the building. So we'll say you're able to get in through the, uh, this, door here, which leads into the computer lab. And I think when I walk in, I see Gray and Kozak. And I'm just going to continue my mission and shoot at Kozak. Okay.

Roll firearms. A 39 failure. Thankfully, it's not a critical. But Gray, you turn and look as Elion comes through the door and he takes a pot shot at Evan and it hits the wall behind him and he goes running into this closet here. And I'm like screaming, like trying to sound logical, but I'm just not saying, it's the only way! And just like shooting at him.

Can I break the lock on the closet door? Yeah, easy enough. You pull the door closed and you find a fire extinguisher on nearby wall, and you use it to kind of break the handle and keep it from being opened. Fuck me. You were about to take out my other ear. I'm sorry, but we know that it's the only thing we have to do. All right.

He's locked in the closet. Good. And I'm going to start shooting. shooting at the closets. In this case, just roll luck. Let's just see if you hit them. Yeah, oh yeah, it's a success. Roll 1D10.

Uh, three. Yeah, you hear a, ah! You pop a couple rounds through this door. I actually, I don't know if Elion would really have the sense. Like, his main goal is he thinks that they didn't complete the task last round. So he's going to start moving on to the next employee of this place. Yeah, you hear, you hear this scream. You don't know if he's dead or not, but you move.

on and you see Jessica and Benny handling Takagawa and you see actually let's get back to Isaac. So all this is going on, we're going to, we have to rewind the clock just a smidge because while this was happening, Isaac was going to talk to Dr. Black. I've heard them too. But the others, they don't hear them like I do. I need your help, doctor. What do you need me to do? I need to know where she is. I need to know where Klinger is. I she should be around here somewhere she's just making her rounds Has she been okay today She's very important to all of this

Well of course She's she's here with uh She's here with everyone But you say you've heard you've heard you've heard them You've heard you've heard the drums you've heard the whistles Oh I've more than heard them I saw him I saw him ascend doctor I saw the whole fucking thing buddy What did you see

I saw a big fucking in black cloud and out of that. Huge. It was incredible. It was the most magnificent thing I have ever seen and I need your help. How are you still here? He brought me back. He brought me back because the others are going to try and stop him again.

I need to know how to prevent them from doing that. Where is it that they can't get to? Roll persuade. At a 20% advantage. Oh, 35. Give it to me. Keep them away from D. Keep them away from the array.

Those are the critical components. As long as the array is still collecting data and D is still processing it, he'll hear us. So if they do the shutdown on the array, then it'll stop everything? It might. I need you to go outside into the main room. You need me to go into the main room. Why? Azathoth wants you with him

And the only way you can do that is by going with my companions I know how it sounds But I've already told you that I know what's happened You have to believe me Oh okay Perfect and I'll move the chair out of the way I'll open the door and I'll escort him out to the others I'd like to imagine that Elion is kind of making his way down the hall

And if he sees him he's just gonna point his gun point blank and shoot the guy in the head Wait, are Jess and I in the way of this? Because we are going to Campbell. Yeah. Isaac, you're kind of still in the office, but with Jessica and Benny in between you and Dr. Black, and they're not being much clearance on either side of this hallway, you could take a shot, but if you miss, it's going to hit them. What Elion would do is he would raise his gun and say, get down.

We have to take them out. And I'm going to hold my shot to shoot at Black. Who the fuck gave you a gun? Whoa, whoa! Put the hands up, like, Elian, like, relax. Hold on a second. We're wasting time. We have to finish these people.

That's what we haven't completed. Be smarter about it. Don't shout it for them to fucking hear it. What are you talking about? Elion raises his gun and fires. Roll luck. Fail. Roll 1D10 for me, please.

Three. Jessica, you get hit in the shoulder as this, you hear this gunshot, and this round zips past black and catches you in the shoulder. Oh my God, no! And you take three damage. Are you fucking kidding me?

I'm going to grab. I'm going to clamp onto her shoulder and just pull her into the office where Dr. Takigawa is. Come on. Gray, how do you feel about that? I'm upset. Well, sanity.

I failed in the 83. Okay. You lose one sanity as you witness this person that you care very deeply about being, uh, shot suddenly.

Vince, if they're taking some time to move out of the way, I'm going to like just gently tap a black on the shoulder, look him in the eyes and say, it's a part of the plan. I promise. You see? And then I'll let them take the shot. Okay. Elyon, go ahead and roll your shitty firearms. 93 failure.

Roll luck. Wow. Success with a nine. Okay. That round, it impacts the wall directly to your. You're right. Betty is going to continue on. Is he dead?

Is Black dead? No, no. Nobody's hit him yet. Lucy's going to hit him. Go ahead and roll. Yeah, that's a 12. Roll 2D8. That's a 10.

Two fives. This hallway is suddenly flooded with buckshot as Dr. Black's midsection caves in from a near point blank shot of 12 gauge. But Dr. Black is no more. Benis is just going to yell out. How many are left now? Three. And in fact, Elion is making his way over to Jing Fei right now.

And you know what? I don't think I'm going to shoot her. I want to knock her out. Yeah, you can move about 10 feet, so I'll say you can get up on her and then attempt an unarmed. Because without admitting it, this is retaliation for scratching me. Okay. Go ahead and roll unarmed. Oh, critical success.

With a 33, yeah. She weakly raises an arm to try to deflect the blow. And I mean, she's just a tall, like a small, like unassuming thing. And you just, you put all of your weight. You're just all this frustration. And you just bury your fist against her jaw. And you hear the bone give way. And she just fucking drops.

And she, she is unconscious. I need her dead. Okay. Yeah. All right. So you, you put your, your, uh, you put the, uh, you put the, uh, you put the barrel of the H&K up against her head and you squeeze the trigger and she

is dead. Vince, I'm going to step out into the hallway, almost like spreading my legs over the corpse here so that I can stand correctly. I'm going to look at gray. I've dug through the skin

that I think my fingernails are in muscle tissue now. And I'm still staring at that clock. I'm going to look at gray. I'm going to say six minutes till the next vision. and God knows. I'll say at this point you're taking damage. So you lose about a hit point's worth of damage.

And anybody who witnessed Dr. Black die, go ahead and roll Sandy. Did Jess and I see it if I pulled her in the back of the room? I'll say you two did not. I failed. Yeah, I failed too. I succeed. Succeed.

Those who fail lose one. But Bethany, for you, you lose go ahead and roll 1D8 I also roll a 3 but I'm at my breaking point I would love to project so go ahead and roll 1D4

4 Elion sees that Stoyer's neck is bleeding and he's going to kind of poke his head into the room that has Benny and Jessica and he's just going to say very casually I think Stoyer's wounded

could you guys go take to look at him? I'm gonna look at him like, bitch! She's fucking shot. It'll be fine. Oh, that's right. I'm sorry. Dr. Black gave me crazy bitch confirmation that as long as we turn off the array and we get rid of D, that's the physical connection. I don't know what we're missing outside of that,

so it has to be something more. I think it's with Klinger, and Klinger is here today. Not our Klinger, crazy bitch Ghost Klinger, and I'm still digging into my neck. In fact, I think a finger's maybe half an inch inside. half an inch inside. But real Klinger is here. Klinger is here and we have to find the bitch.

At this point, everybody roll power. I fail by one. I succeed. Failed by 94%. Okay. So for those who succeed, go ahead and roll your 1D4. You lose that much willpower and sandy. All right.

So, Benny, you are trying to render first date on Jessica? Yes. I'll use my first responders medical kit. Vince, with this, because it's 752, we didn't get a vision this time, did we? Well, you do. But it's all stuff you remember from before. Nothing is new this time. I don't get three zeros. Roll 1D4? Four. And I'll pull like a sling out and I'll put her arm in a sling and just like keep it close to her chest and give her some like pain beds and stuff.

Is she going to be okay? Benny? She's fine. It went all the way through. It didn't hit anything crazy. So it'll just hurt and suck, but she'll be fine. Isaac, Isaac. I'm going to shout for him to like, Isaac come to me and see if he comes to me. Yeah, I'm walking over to Jeff. I'm going to be like, uh, Benny, go, um, go check on Gray. I just want to talk to Isaac for a second. I'll be right out. Okay. Don't, I promise. Isaac and Jessica, you aren't alone and Takago. office. Okay.

Do you have that phone, correct? Yeah. Yeah, I got the burner. Okay. Do you think, I was about to say, I need you, if we don't get this thing solved at the, we need to have a backup plan, can you call in something? Call our boss to call in some damn helicopters and blow this whole fucking thing out of the damn earth or something? Yeah. Yeah.

What do you think? Like, 945? That worked for you? Better, was it? Better safe than sorry? All right, we got a date for 945 then, Jess. I would just, I don't know if we want to tell everyone, because that's a heavy thing that I just put out there, but... I don't think we should tell anybody. That's, I think that would be the best kind of plan,

especially with what's happening. I'm going to point to Takigawa on the... look around, I'm like, I don't, I think you may need to take him out as well. Me? I mean, you have a gun, right? Because I don't, I don't. Having a gun and killing a person, big leap there, Jess. Then I will go ahead and go into my bed bag and I'm going to get the right concoction of drugs and I'm going to make him OD on.

Yeah, can't you just pump some oxygen into his arm or something, make it quick? Yeah, you know, Jessica, with your knowledge that you can just, um, put, Put air into his vein. It's right in the neck or something. It could cause a stroke and have him to die. I'll do that. Okay. Yeah, we'll say you fill a syringe with, you just kind of draw it out,

and you fill it with air, and you find a vein, and you just slip it in. And after a certain point, Dr. Takago dies. Roll sanity for me, please. That's fair. I've got a success. Oh, thank you. Lord. You both lose one.

I'm going to get, because I know I just broke my oath. I'm going to feel a little extra raw. Like, just take a minute and then grab my stuff and exit out. Hey, Jess. Hmm. I always liked you. 945. 945.

And I'm going to take out the phone and I'm going to put a call into mom. Got me. After a few rings. Eva Carpenter answers the phone. Hey! How's it going? It's going. How is everything there? I think the same for us. Going is the operative word.

So, I need you to drop off a package at 945. Do you think you could do that for us? What kind of package are you referring to, Agent Elmo? Oh, the kind that eradicates an area? Uh, what's the... Agent Elmo, what is the situation on the ground that would warrant such a response? We're all going to die to a catastrophic opening of the atmosphere above us, and I prefer if you just call me Isaac, if you're going to be the one to kill me. Isaac, what's the threat?

Azathoth. Uh, Azia, as I've started calling him. What do you need? I need explosives. I need destruction. I need this array to never exist. I need all of us dead by 945. Let me make a phone call. Let me see what I can do.
