Mayim Bialik's Breakdown - Part Two: 95% of Your Life Runs on a Program You Never Chose. Dr. Bruce Lipton on Rewiring Belief in Minutes, Why Quantum Physics Says You’re a Creator, and Why Science Now Calls Spirituality Real
Episode Date: August 19, 2026Bruce H. Lipton, Ph.D. (former medical school professor, epigenetics pioneer, and bestselling author of The Biology of Belief and Beyond Darwin) returns to explain why he believes humanity is... living through an unprecedented evolutionary crisis, why today's global chaos may actually be the necessary breakdown before an extraordinary breakthrough—and asks the unsettling question: How far can humanity be pushed before it changes? In this episode of Mayim Bialik's Breakdown, we explore the revolutionary science of epigenetics, why your genes account for less than 1% of disease, how environmental signals control your biology, and why Dr. Lipton argues that you are far more powerful than your DNA. He explains how consciousness shapes epigenetics, why our subconscious programming determines so much of our lives, and reveals practical ways to rewrite that programming through self-hypnosis and other powerful techniques.Bruce also dives into the fascinating intersection of Quantum Physics and spirituality, discussing whether everything is truly energy, whether physical reality is ultimately an illusion, whether spirit can be understood through quantum science, why he believes we cannot truly die, why karma is a biological reality, how many souls exist in the universe, whether souls choose to come to Earth to learn, and even whether a soul can switch bodies during a lifetime. He shares his own recent health challenges and how he applied The Biology of Belief to his recovery, explains why ignoring your life's purpose can manifest as emotional and physical struggles, recounts his personal experience with psilocybin, and reveals what it feels like to meet your energetic match.Bruce also discusses why love is the highest creative force, how it allows us to create "Heaven on Earth," why we need physical bodies to fully experience love, why cooperation (not competition) is humanity's greatest evolutionary advantage, and why the belief that life is meant to be a struggle is one of our biggest collective illusions. We also explore why alternative healing methods remain largely absent from mainstream education, the urgent new professions Dr. Lipton believes society must create to help humanity sustain Earth's ecosystem, how we unconsciously download limiting beliefs from those around us, four practical ways to reprogram the subconscious and create coherence between mind and reality, and why a lack of knowledge ultimately becomes a lack of power. If you've ever wondered whether science and spirituality can finally meet, this conversation may completely change the way you see yourself, and reality itself!Dr. Bruce Lipton’s latest book, Beyond Darwin: How Epigenetics, Quantum Science, and Cooperation Shape Humanity’s Future: https://www.simonandschuster.com/books/Beyond-Darwin/Bruce-H-Lipton/9781637749364Follow us on Substack for Exclusive Bonus Content: https://bialikbreakdown.substack.com/BialikBreakdown.comYouTube.com/mayimbialikSee Privacy Policy at https://art19.com/privacy and California Privacy Notice at https://art19.com/privacy#do-not-sell-my-info.

Hi, I'm I am Biolic.
And I'm Jonathan Cohen.
And welcome to part two of our conversation with Dr. Bruce Lipton.
We're discussing beyond Darwin how epigenetics, quantum science, and cooperation shape humanity's future.
What if everything that we have been told about health, disease, death, and even reality is actually not the whole story.
Dr. Lipton is going to explain it all.
In part two of this conversation, we describe how love can be a transformation.
force to allow us to experience heaven on earth and overcome our previous programming.
What are we here in Earth School to understand and how can we reprogram and create coherence
between our mind and the reality that we're living? All this in part two of our conversation
with Dr. Bruce Lipton. My and Bialyx breakdown is supported by Helix Sleep. We can't tell you how
excited we were to hear that Helix wanted to partner with us. I've had my helix for over five years now,
and it helps me sleep great.
Jonathan loves his helix.
Our kids love their helix mattresses.
All of those issues, like night sweats and back pain
and motion transfer issues,
all of that is significantly better.
Helix sleep makes premium mattresses and bedding
that are customized to fit your personal needs
and they're conveniently shipped to your door.
I was so happy with their shipping process.
I even ordered my son a new mattress to his college
that saved us all of the frustration
of finding a new mattress.
Helix combines innovative tech
with high-quality materials to deliver comfort and support.
They offer soft, medium, and firm mattresses,
and there are literally different options

Here at the Happiness Lab, we're serving up some hot takes for the summer.
Big ideas that just might reshape how you think about your well-being.
Like, we've been thinking about the loneliness epidemic all wrong.
You can be lonely at a party.
I don't think loneliness is actually about solitude.
Loneliness is about something much bigger.
For more surprising ideas backed by psychological science, check out our new series.
hot takes. Listen to the Happiness Lab with me, Dr. Lari Santos, wherever you get your podcasts.
Break it down.
We've had near-death experiencers who have gone to the other side and dead for sometimes minutes,
sometimes hours or longer, and they've seen souls lining up. Imagine this massive set
of multiple screens where they're witnessing events of their life and then possible new events
that they can sign up for, making a choice, and then coming back to Earth.
That is beautiful because I didn't say it, but the idea was this.
At the beginning, actually, I said, we got these genes.
If you really want my opinion of it, we selected these genes.
We selected our parents and the environment, because we came in with a mission,
and that would be fulfilled by having these parents in this world, in this environment.
So everyone has a mission?
At some level, yeah, and the mission would be what?
Return to the harmonic balance that we came from.
Why?
Harmony is health and happiness.
This harmony is acquired through our experiences where we sent back vibes from life
experiences that altered the original vibe, karma.
But I said, what would happen if we all found our vibe?
We have been programmed to believe if you have a really good life and you die,
you can go to heaven.
I really want to change that.
I want to change because I say, I believe we are born into heaven.
This is the place of creation.
If you ask 100 people, tell me what your vision of heaven.
heaven is you can get 100 definitions. Here, you can manifest
as definitions. And you have a mechanism to do
so. And it's the body. The body allows me to move.
The brain allows me to move where and what
I want to do with it. Okay? So the body is a mechanism
to create. I can build. I can do all this thing. Why is the body?
it converts experience into sensation.
Love is a feeling.
Love can be a definition,
and I can give you a whole definition,
it has no feeling at all.
It's a definition.
Feeling love is not defining love in those words.
It's an experience of love,
anger, jealousy, happiness.
These are derived from the nervous
cells in our body that are taking into receptors and then translating the experience into
vibration coming from the brain is which is now being sent back to source.
You want to know what love feels like.
You don't have a body.
It's not the same.
So we came here for experiencing this.
And it's interesting.
bring this up a lot.
Many people have seen the movie The Matrix.
And so, oh, science fiction.
I go, no, no, no.
It's a documentary.
I go, what do you mean?
I said, we're supremac.
Everybody's programmed.
I go, oh, that's a scientific reality.
If you're seven years of your life,
your brain is in a state of hypnosis, you are programmed, okay?
But the part that I love, the wake-up part,
just from the way I'm one presented,
is you can take a red pill and you can get out of the program.
Almost everybody listening today has taken that red pill at least once.
I go, what was that red pill?
And here's what it is.
Why am I playing the programs?
And the answer is because my mind, through my conscious mind,
wants to manifest its wishes and desires.
So first thing, look at you.
your body as a vehicle and your eyes are looking out the windshield.
And when you're in your conscious mind, you have the hands on the steering wheel
and you're going towards wishes and desires, conscious mind.
But here's the problem, and this is the blow away while the whole damn thing is upside down,
is that the mind can think.
Thoughts are inside, not outside.
the moment you're thinking, your conscious mind is no longer looking out the windshield.
It's inside looking for a thought.
I thought, well, what if you're driving the car?
And all of a sudden you're saying, well, when I get to the store, I'm going to buy this and that,
and I'm saying, you're thinking, guess what?
You're not driving the car.
Why?
You're not looking at the window.
So why is that important?
The car is driving pretty well.
Who's driving the car?
The subconscious is a hard drive, not creative.
It's a habit mind.
It's a program mind.
You taught it how to drive the car, a habit.
So when I'm thinking, I'm not paying attention.
My subconscious, a million times more powerful information processor,
is driving my car safely, if I was programmed safely.
Okay?
So the whole idea is this.
Ah, so when I'm thinking, I'm not running a show.
I go, right.
And I go, and here's the number.
95% of the day is the amount the average person is thinking.
Well, 95% of the day, you're not running your show.
I said, what's running the show?
I said, you've been programmed.
You've been programmed how to live a life.
How?
For seven years, you download.
a program by observing your parents, observing your community, and downloading a state of
hypnosis the behavior to be a member of a family and the behavior to be a member of a community.
Now you've got programs, okay, how to react.
That's a 95% of the day.
Those are the programs that control your life.
And more than half are disempowering, self-habitizing, limiting programs we download it.
and if they're self-destructive, disempowering, you won't see it.
I go, what you mean?
How can you see the program if you're thinking?
Because when you're thinking, you're not paying attention.
So the program that's coming out, you're the one that doesn't see the program,
but everybody else does.
And you have no idea you're playing a program.
But then you see the people responding to you,
messing with your life.
I didn't do it.
They did.
You didn't understand.
They were responding to your program.
And I've been through this.
How many years?
Same story, because it's not a better one,
so I'll say it because it's great.
You have a friend.
You know your friend's behavior very well.
You happen to know your friend's parent.
One day, you see your friend has the same behavior
as the parent,
and you want to tell your friend.
The alternative is that you see
the parent and they have tried to make their behavior so opposite to the parent that they're
actually having a maladaptive adjustment in the other direction. Yeah, but that takes a conscious
a lot of effort. The programs are going to play 95% of the straight out of the program machine.
And there's more than half of them are self-destructive, so it does make a difference. At some
point, you're going to be self-destructive in the process. But the point about it is, so
So 95% of day my life is coming from the program.
So I said, okay, you see your friend has the same behavior as their parent.
I love it because that's when you offer.
Bill, you're just like your dad.
And then I say, back away from Bill because I know what Bill is going to say.
He's going to say what?
He's going to say, how can you compare me to my dad?
I'm nothing like my dad.
And it's funny because everybody else can see that Bill is using that behavior he downloaded from his dad.
the only one who can't see is Bill, and then the big global picture is we are all built.
Mind B. Alex's breakdown is supported by no CD.
Have you ever replayed a conversation over and over, trying to be sure that a friend doesn't
secretly hate you, maybe you've spent hours researching a minor ache even after a doctor told you
were fine? Well, you might be surprised to learn that these kinds of distressing, unwanted
thoughts can actually be signs of OCD, obsessive compulsive disorder.
OCD is a serious condition and it can focus on anything, your identity, your morals, your
relationships, your sense of reality.
But what makes it so debilitating is that it often fixates on exactly the things that you
care about the most.
I've struggled with OCD myself.
I know how misunderstood it is and how hard it can be to even figure out what is going on,
let alone get the right kind of help.
And that's why we're here to tell you about no CD.
NoCD is the world's leading provider of specialized OCD treatment and all of their licensed therapists go through extensive specialty training to identify and effectively treat OCD.

MineBialx breakdown is supported by One Skin.
One Skin is not your typical skin care brand.
That's why I keep coming back to them.
Most anti-aging skin care is honestly built to react, just smoothing over lines and wrinkles after they show up.
But one skin works to address how skin ages in the first place.
Founded by four PhD longevity scientists, they studied skin at the cellular level,
and they found that visible skin aging actually starts when certain cells stop working the way that they should
and affect the healthy cells around them.
So they engineered OS1, their proprietary peptide to work with skins biology and target those dysfunctional cells.
It's the foundation of every one-skin product.
You'll see over time, firmer, smoother skin, and visibly fewer fine lines.
What we love about One Skin is that it's literally backed by science.
You can tell the difference in your skin, the more you use OneSkin.
I actually shared their sunscreen with our podcast producers, and we're all hooked.
And it's not just us.
One Skin's results are backed by four peer-reviewed clinical studies, over 10,000 five-star reviews.
And they've been recognized by Bloomberg and Fast Company as a leader in skin longevity.
Born from over 10 years of longevity research,
OneSkin is helping you unlock your healthiest skin now and as you age.

We are doing this every day.
And we are looking as victims because we've been programmed.
She tells me this all the time.
I say you're like my dad.
That's a different story.
Oh, see, there's some balance between your vibes.
You've got the HLA profile with my dad's father.
Well, here's actually a very esoteric question,
and then we're going to get to a couple of very practical things
because people want to know, number one, how do we change it?
How do we reprogram ourselves?
Oh, you want the playbook.
We're going to give people, but let's get a little bit esoteric for a second.
Yeah.
Can souls switch midlife?
Meaning, you know, there's something that we did an episode that came out mid-June called Earth School,
which talks about how Earth across all the ancient traditions was a place where souls came to learn lessons evolved.
Hey, that sounds like what we just said.
Right?
Yeah.
And we go through this episode where we're pointing out each one of the ancient texts that was developed with no connection to one another in different parts of the world and how they came to these same ideas.
So either it's a collective creative imagination or there's some form of truth in it, I would say the latter.
But an idea that also emerged is the notion that either through profound change, spiritual change, or through any.
injury, sometimes people have such a profound change that it feels like they're almost
such a different person that there's been a soul switch.
Like they've changed to broadcast so fundamentally that they're actually a different person.
Do you think that's possible?
Absolutely.
I think something like schizophrenia is what?
Proteins modulate, they vibrate, okay?
But they can be altered to a degree.
If I'm receiving a station, let's say on these six antennas, and then one of them,
authors. Now I'm downloading a different broadcast. And I will become and somewhat different by that
download. And what if it's not schizophrenia? What's actually, if it's for a positive change?
Ah, okay, because it was a program and something in the life drastically authored the program.
Now, there are three natural ways to change the program. The fourth one is what you brought up. It
happened because of some event you had no control over, but it shocked your system so much
that it was like, boom, I'm different. And it was a shock. Can I control that? No. Does it happen? Yes.
So what are the other three? The first thing is, how did you get a program? And the answer is,
the first seven years of your life, your brain was not vibrating at the level of consciousness.
It was vibrating at a lower frequency.
called Theta.
Data is characterized as imagination.
That's how a child under seven
lives in the real world
and the imaginary world at the same time.
And this is a kind of a dreamy state
that the Waldorf schools and Rudolf Steiner
identified as we develop in these seven-year phases
and the first seven years are dedicated,
you know, from an educational perspective,
to fantasy, to a dreamlike state.
It's why, you know, Waldorf,
We don't teach writing and reading and alphabet even.
No, that's a different part of the brain.
Right, exactly.
So these first seven years, but this is what you're saying,
is that you're in a state where you are receiving, correct?
Yes.
You're receiving, you're not conscious, okay?
And you're recording, okay?
So I can have imaginary friends.
I can talk to them.
As I always say, I love it because so many people experience,
the tea party
where you poured nothing
into the cup, you drank nothing
but it was the best damn tea you ever
had. That is
Zeta. And Zeta
is hypnosis at the same time.
So a character is
imagination or quality
is hypnosis, okay?
So I say
well, can you do
hypnosis? I say, yeah,
hypnosis is a hypnotherapy, okay?
But more importantly,
we can do it called self-hypnosis.
So where is that?
Okay.
Remember, data is a vibration of the brain, a frequency.
It's a lower frequency than consciousness.
So if the brain is evolving, first it goes through the theta phase,
but then it acquires higher vibration.
Alpha is the next higher vibration.
That's called calm consciousness.
Then the vibration shoots up again.
And it's called beta.
And that's the schoolroom thinking, working consciousness.
And in fact, it can even go up one higher called gamma.
And gamma is the highest form is peak performance of pilots of an airplane.
Is that flow state or different?
It's a flow, yeah.
It's like, it's so much going on and you're in charge.
I'm landing an airplane.
I fly the airplane on beta.
Got it.
I land it on gamma.
Right.
So we were saying the ways that we programming happens.
So then you have those first seven years of your life was one of them.
If you can get into theta, you can get in a program.
Got it.
So you have these higher vibrations while you're awake.
Right.
But the moment you fall asleep, the brain vibration goes down to the next lower realm, theta.
So immediately after you fall asleep, you're awake.
sleep. Immediately, consciousness disconnect data in. If you put earbuds in your earphones on,
and you play a program that you want to be true in your life, health, relationship, job,
self-help program, okay? And as you go to bed, you put those earbuds in and you start the
program. While you're awake, you'll hear from a program. And then as you fall asleep, the program is
playing. You don't hear it anymore. But you're receiving. Data is downloading. Right. So it's called
self-hypnosis. Repetition. It takes a while because you're not in data for a very long
period of time. It's short before you hit the next lowest one, Delta, unconscious. Okay? So first one,
Self-hypnosis.
That's how you got some program day one, okay?
Number two, you still got programs after age seven to learn how to drive that car,
learn how to play music instrument.
How should learn that?
Because it becomes a habit, because you repeated it.
It's repetition, habituation.
You want to change something, then generate a new habit.
So it's action in the world.
Yeah, because now you're...
and you create what you want.
If you want to change it, what do I want?
The funny one, which makes the rounds in the New Age circle,
is fake it till you make it.
If you're not happy, what do you do?
All day long as many times you can, you say to yourself,
I am happy, I am happy, I am happy, I am happy.
What are you doing?
Habituating a program, I am happy.
And if you repeat enough times, you wake up on that.
and you're happy, right?
Now it's the program subconscious
and you're going to play 95% of the day.
A very important thing
that should be mentioned here.
The function of the mind
is to create
coherence
between your belief
and your reality.
If you have a negative belief,
the function of the mind is to manifest
the negative reality.
If you have a positive belief,
then you manifest a positive reality.
And all of a sudden it says,
well, that's the function of mind,
but it's based on the belief.
I said, where did you get a belief program?
Okay.
And then, but you can program yourself.
Ha!
Because at that moment, then I can program it.
You having been an actor,
an actor,
number one,
learn the script.
But number two,
learn the character and practice the character.
And you can become the character.
But you don't need to be an actor to do that. That's what we're all doing.
Actors do this on a normal basis. And consummate actors become a character so
so much that it changes their lives.
People will say, I'm not really my authentic self. I'm always faking it or masking it, but in a way,
what we're saying is to inhabit a character
that you want to create
and then put that out in the world.
Where's the delta between
I want to find out who I actually am
but who I am might have been programmed
to be miserable.
Who cares? Who cares?
What does it you want? Not what you got.
That's the important one.
I can change what I have.
Let's just jump to number three for a moment, okay?
Number one, self-hypnosis stated.
Number two,
repetition, habituation, and number three is a new version of psychology called energy psychology.
It's a process and engages something called super learning. Super learning.
What's that? I get a child under seven is a super learner. A child under seven can live in a family
where there are three languages spoken. And in the process before age seven,
learn all three languages.
But then trying to teach the kid one language when they're 10 or 11 or 12.
Or 46.
That's even harder.
Every year.
And what was the point?
There was a point where I could easily learn three and there's a point where I could have
trouble learning one.
What happened?
And the answer is that's the way we learn authors at age seven.
It's also plasticity, right?
Well, this is where the re-learning comes in.
That's the plastic part.
So I said, well, how do you relearn?
I said, well, what if you can get back into super learning?
This is where a lot of people are engaging in, you know, psychedelic-assisted therapy.
Ketamine is one of them.
Iboga.
Iboga and Iboga.
And Ibogaine.
We spoke to Rick Doblin about this.
Hey, go be a show of Sybin right away.
Right.
So the idea being that if we can put our brains back, you know, even temporarily in some sort of flexible neuroplastic state that maybe we can learn to, you know, fill in the blank, we can learn to love ourselves again, we can learn to not be depressed, we can learn to cure our autoimmune disease.
Fantastic, because it's true. And this is how do we get to the psychedelic. It didn't start in the street, especially with pharmaceutical version, like ecstasy. Okay? It's a little.
laboratory experiment. And then it started to realize, oh my God, if I, if I use LSD, an alcoholic
can lose alcoholism in a couple of sessions with LSD or magic mushrooms. If I have this problem,
I can change it because it opens up the opportunity to see outside of this body and to look
into this body.
And so it's a facilitation.
People say, well, oh, no, that's so impure.
You can do it through meditation.
I go, yeah, you can do it through meditation.
How much time are you going to do?
How long is it takes you to do it?
Yeah, Paul Stammets cured a lifelong stutter
in one session of psilocybin.
Yeah.
I mean, it was an accidental dose, but still,
it took away stuttering.
Honestly, I took cellicibic,
not as a young kid.
I missed it.
And see, and that was what the poor part was.
I was 40 years old.
I was a scientist already.
So when I took it, it was an experience not like a party.
It wasn't a party.
It was like, oh, my God, I am outside of this system.
And I can see a picture of my life outside.
It's a tool. Yeah.
It was a tool.
And the things I saw were fundamental.
and became fundamental in my research.
And what I saw, while most people have out of body,
my wasn't in her body.
I went in my body.
I saw myself.
I saw them working.
I saw them.
I was irritated because at that moment my life wasn't really going out well.
And when I was in there in my body,
I was watching myself,
they were having a party.
And I was saying, gosh, I'm out here, beat my head against the wall.
You guys are having a good time.
And that's the first time what I learned from that moment, it was fun because I was in communication.
And I said, I'm doing this for you.
What do you do for me?
That's when I experienced all my receptors turned on at once.
All the sensation came in by body.
It was so intense that I couldn't breathe for a minute.
I fell on the floor.
And I remember getting back up and getting back to the.
that place and I said, thank you. You give me sensation. That was a fundamental piece of learning
that I got from that. And the relevance is that, did I see some, actually, I saw things I didn't know
existed at that time. Like what? Cells light up like a laser show. There's lights all over
them going on. It's called biophotons. I didn't know about them, okay?
And when I saw those cells, I was like, wow, wow, look how pretty.
Look at all these lights.
It was like going above an amusement park with Ferris wheel lights spinning.
The question would be, how could you experience something, right, that you didn't yet know existed unless it existed, right?
And then I found out there was a reason why.
Right.
The body runs on electron chain, transport, moving an electron from A to be to be, just.
see. Fact of physics, which I learned. Every time an electron is passed, it gives off a photon
of life. And all of a sudden I said, oh, my God, I visually saw electron train and transport without
knowing it. Yeah. And I thought it was still, oh, that was an hallucination. I mean, I usually say
neuroscience is the best science because, you know, that's what I studied, but biochemistry is a
close second, you know, being able to see all of these processes in that way.
That's what makes us us.
That was to me was like a shock because all the sudden I saw something that was real
that I didn't even know existed at the level of a self.
Yeah.
And so I felt pretty good about the rest of it.
But, oh, I could have maybe done this with meditation.
I said, yeah, maybe 100 years.
I know, but I can do it tonight.
A new modification of psychology, energy psychology, does not give a damn about the past.
Why?
I have a program.
I say, yeah, how did I get it from my experience in the past?
So you want to talk about the past?
I said, what are you doing?
Reactivating the damn program that I already have.
I don't have to go backwards.
I have to go forward.
So I have to say what I want to do.
I said, first I have to know my program so I know what I can change.
And then I say, well, how do you know what your programs?
I said, why?
Well, first of all, you were being programmed three months before you were born.
Tell me what the program was.
Oh, wait, you were programmed the whole year from zero and one.
What program is you got?
Wait, you're programmed another year from one to two.
Tell me the program.
I have no idea.
Now I'm going to tell you how you can tell what the programs are.
Your life is a program 95% of time.
Simple point.
The things you like,
that come into your life?
They come into your life because you have a program to support those things.
But the things you work hard at,
things you struggle over,
the things you put effort into,
I'm sweating over it,
I'm going to make it happen,
I'm going to be a success, I'm working.
Why are you working so hard?
And the answer,
whatever that destination,
whether it's losing weight,
finding a relationship,
whatever,
if you're having trouble,
it's not because you can't have it,
it's because your program
doesn't support it.
And you're trying to
override the program. I go,
that is a bitch.
Why?
It's running 95% of time with a
computer that's a million times
more powerful than
the conscious mind with Henry program.
So I say, well, how can I facilitate?
I say, get back
into a super learning state.
And then you can
download like that kid below seven. And you can change the belief you had your whole life
in minutes, walk away. I emphasize it's usually by bringing up the very important quote.
Necessity is the mother of invention. And I say what? I say we're facing an upheaval of a civilization
and it's based, we have to change the way we are living because the way we are living is self-destructive.
see, well, how much time do you have?
You don't have a lot of time.
So energy psychology coming in at this time
is offering an ability to change the belief in minutes.
There's different modalities.
So I just want to offer this because I'm not going over it right now.
My website, very simple, bruce Lipton.com.
Under belief change modalities under resources.
I have about 25 different versions of energy psychology
offering a descriptive paragraph or two and a website.
So if you're interested in this, go to the website,
read some of these things.
If one interest you, go to the website.
But does it work?
100%.
You know, going back to personal life,
my mother and father had a very dysfunctional relationship.
I'm seven years below seven watching my father is my role model, watching his behavior.
My mother is the partner that I want because it matches my father in that sense, okay?
But I'm watching my father's behavior, and I'm downloading it hypnotically, okay?
Well, it was dysfunctional.
And then every time I started getting to a relationship, it would break up.
Why? Because I would start playing my father's program.
And then that takes us back,
which I don't think I got back to, is that red pill.
When you take the red pill, you get out of the program.
And I said, then what would happen if you're not playing the program?
I said, you fell in love.
I said, and what was that?
The honeymoon. What was that?
Heaven on earth.
Well, it was there all the time, folks, except the,
program didn't offer it.
Well, I guess one question I would have, you know, a lot of people are working on, let's say,
defects of character, defaults of character.
What does that mean if someone finds themselves, let's say, you know, really stuck, let's say
they're judgmental or they're critical of other people?
You don't, you're not saying that it's your destiny to be critical.
But if you're really working against that and you don't want to be that person anymore,
what's that?
What do you do when you are now being confronted with this?
This is the policy.
This is where the resolution has to come from.
Right.
Not the experience of it.
Sure.
It's what I want to change.
So first of all, you have to know the behavior.
We just mentioned before.
You're playing these programs.
You don't even see the behavior.
Other people see it.
And this is an important part of where love relationships come in.
I say why.
if you're unaware of these programs and their impact
and your partner all of a sudden starts showing up with this crap behavior
and then you start precipitating your argument saying,
what kind of behavior is that?
Not knowing the person who just said that,
you didn't even know they had that behavior,
it's an argument.
And an argument, every time I knew one of these shows up,
next argument, next argument, 50% of marriages divorce.
Why?
It's not the person they marry.
I say, who did they marry?
The spirit, the creative one, the one that stopped playing the program,
the one that had wishes and desires to live that honeymoon.
Yeah, but once they start thinking,
then those programs that never showed up in the honeymoon,
they didn't play.
Why?
Science has recognized a fact.
When you fall in love, you stay mindful.
You stay present.
You stop thinking.
Well, if you stop thinking, what's running a show?
The conscious mind.
And what's that?
Wishes and desires.
And that's called the honeymoon.
Until thinking takes over and then the negative programs manifest.
So that's why I like that great feeling, which lasts, I don't know,
Three months seems to be the cycle.
There's a short, intense period, then there's an adjustment period.
I'm adjusting to what?
That behavior that wasn't there when we first fell in love, and that I can adjust a certain amount.
Or more often than not, there are blinders that go on because of this huge chemical, right?
Yeah.
Like experience that you're having and things that actually should bother you don't seem as significant.
and once all of that chemistry wears off, you then see, oh, wait a second.
I don't like this.
Correct.
Yes, and I think what ends up happening is you both people begin to react to the other person
and you go into a different cycle.
Like, a perfect example of this recently, I don't remember what the conversation was.
I didn't have any understanding of how I was coming across to Maim, and I thought I was just sort of super,
neutral and she was like, you're so elevated and I'm like, I don't even know what you're talking
about it. And then I'm like, why are you reacting like that and we're back at each other?
And who are you? Where does that come from? I think it was my father. Now let's switch the table.
Both parties know we have programs. We know that. I'm going to give you one more example
because it just recently happened.
Again, we were having a conversation,
and this one I actually think I was...
The problem is us having conversations.
We just figured it out.
I was generally neutral.
I was trying to reason something out with her,
and she's like, this is just like my mom.
To which I'm like, exactly, right?
Like, we can see it and we know we're in a cycle.
And he said, you're just like my dad.
We're even...
And what do we connect the most on writing, being creative, doing things that are not related to any...
Not having conversations.
About practical things that require these types of filters.
I think that was more revealing than you intended.
Yeah, but now look at it's this way.
A behavior shows up.
That's not right.
There's no argument if you start with, did you just hear what you just said?
did you
do you understand what you just said
what do you mean
what did I say
ah you said this
I go no I didn't mean that
and then all of a sudden
instead of an argument
it's a discussion
and if it's a discussion
and I said but I can change that
I say how
self-hypnosis
habituation
energy psychology
but it's important to pull yourself out
right like you can feel
that you're not interacting at the level that you want.
Like when you get that elevated,
it's likely not the thing that you're actually talking about.
It's just an amazing thing that's going on
that people don't understand.
What was super learning?
If you look at a brain, there's a line down the center.
And each half, call the hemisphere.
And the two halves have different functions.
The left hemisphere is intellectual words.
Okay?
The right hemisphere is emotions, pictures, okay?
When you're under seven, and this is where the secret is,
when you're under seven, both hemispheres function at exactly the same time.
Point.
Every experience has an intellectual element to it,
and every experience has an emotional consequence, okay?
After age seven, and this is where the problem comes from,
they functionally, not physically, but functionally separate.
So sometimes during the day, you're more intellectual.
It's called ultra-radiens, a frequency, ultra-radiens.
Sometimes during the day you're left brain, a couple hours, which changes,
and then you go into right brain.
So sometimes you're more intellectual,
and then there's a point where you go more emotional.
and it goes up and down.
It's a wave, okay?
So my usual story, which it gives me joy
because it makes sense,
is an argument between a couple.
The guy is in his left hemisphere
at this moment. He's got all the words.
It's like a sword,
slashing his woman's partner down
with all the words.
She happens to be in the right hemisphere,
emotion.
She has no words.
But the emotions are, oh, oh, oh, like that, right?
But three hours later, the guy's going, oh, what did I say?
Oh, my God.
Oh, I'm so wrong.
Oh, I feel so bad.
Now she has the words, and she comes in, slash, slash, flash.
And this is a perpetuation of a problem.
and that super learning is the process of reintegrating right and left hemisphere.
That is the fundamental process.
And the significance is it takes you back to the learning ability of a child under seven,
which is I can download it by one experience.
And that is how super learning and energy psychology allow us to change the belief you had your
whole life, five, ten minutes, but you have to get into that state of integration.
It's very powerful. It's very, very powerful. You know, there's so much in here that we didn't
get to get to today, but I wonder if you can leave us with, you know, kind of one final evolutionary
tidbit here. You know, this notion that we have more control, right, over our conscious evolution
than we even understand.
And that we've been programmed.
It's the most important part.
Yeah, what can you leave us with?
Okay, leave you with, why is this an answer to Darwinian biology?
An answer is, well, give me two feelings.
Can I give you one?
The belief that genes control of your life, I'm a victim, and therefore I give up power.
Okay?
Number two, and this is the primary one affecting us right now.
The summary of Darwinian theory is survival of the,
fittest in the struggle for life. We bought it. We bought life as a struggle, and we bought
competition is the way out of this struggle, because I have to be the fittest, and I go,
and where's the problem? Number one, life is not a struggle until you say it is a struggle.
And then we program struggle, okay? A very simple point. We came from a garden, we evolved from
the garden. I go what? A garden is the height of cooperation. Every organism in the garden's job
is to facilitate the garden, except for us. We're in the garden destroying a garden,
so we have a problem, okay? So life is a struggle because we made it so, okay? But more importantly,
survival of the fittest. I thought, what does that mean? Competition. And what's the point? I say,
there is no morality in Darwinian biology, meaning if I win, it doesn't make any difference how I did it.
If anybody got hurt, that's not my problem.
The end justifies the means.
That's it.
I'm the winner at what expense.
They're the losers.
And the idea is that's how you can end up with this tiny percent being the winners in today's world.
because they don't give a damn about the rest of the people.
And how can they do it?
You can use your intelligence or you can use an oozy.
Whoever's standing at the end, the winner.
If I shoot you, I win.
If my war beat you a war, we win.
And all of a sudden, say, wait a minute,
we're killing each other in a hypothesis.
that you have to be survival of the physicist.
Now, let me undo that in one fraction of a second.
I go, what is it?
I say, what's the definition of the word fit?
Capable of surviving.
Well, wait, there's fit.
Then there's people a little bit more fit.
They're fitter.
And then there's people that are apparently more fitter than that.
They're the fittest.
And it says, survival of the fittest.
And the answer is, well, but all the rest are fit too.
I don't care about them.
Why?
I'm the fittest.
Why?
Darwin came from Victorian, England.
Upper class, lower class.
The physicist upper class.
You were born into it.
You were always upper class.
If you were born into the lower class,
you're always in the lower class.
So survival of the fittest says the upper class
is the source of evolution.
The lower class are the feeder layer
supporting the upper class.
And we don't need them so many of them.
So let's get rid of a lot of them.
And that's today's world,
eliminating the weakest ones
because I don't need them as much.
And with AI, Jonathan,
we don't even need that many.
And when you look at,
the death rate is going up.
The health crisis is going up.
I say it's not an action.
They know exactly what they're doing.
and the people don't know.
And I can program your life right out of you
by telling you you're less than powerful
that, oh, you're inevitably going to get sick.
And I'm the smart one, so my belief
overrides your belief, and you bought my belief
that we bought, if you grew up in a family
when you were sick, you went to a doctor,
what did you learn from that experience?
The answer is this.
When it comes to health, I'm not the ones
to know about it.
The doctor knows about it.
And therefore, the doctor's opinion, prognosis,
becomes the truth because you say,
they know, I don't.
Is this going to happen?
Oh, yeah.
This will happen, then this will happen,
then you'll die.
Now I have a program.
This will happen.
This will happen.
And I go, yep, and you unfolded exactly the way the prognosis said.
And beyond Darwin, I think, gives a lot of hope because it places the power really back in your own hands.
That if we were programmed, we can also learn other programs.
We still have the ability to tap into that neuroplasticity.
We have that ability to kind of see beyond it.
And we have the gift of not having to live.
in a classist biological philosophy?
Absolutely.
And it comes down to them,
the final simple thing is this.
Knowledge is power.
Right.
And I go,
and at the same time,
I can say the same thing,
a lack of knowledge
is a lack of power.
What you don't know,
you have no power over.
And if I program you with things that are wrong,
that means those things you don't know them
because you don't see it, then you have lost your power.
Right.
And that is today's world.
And it started with the psychology of it,
and then it becomes Bernays, Edward Bernays,
who taught us propaganda, you know,
but it's called advertising.
Okay?
And the idea is what?
I can convince you to buy my product
because you're going to believe what I'm going to tell you.
and all of a sudden they say, oh my God, we're consumers.
So when was the last time you saw the sunset?
Well, a really, really good reminder.
Go out and see the sunset today.
And also, thank you so much for being here.
You know, so many people are incredibly inspired by the work you've already done.
And this book is clearly evidence that you are not done influencing us in the best ways.
So thank you.
I thank you so very much.
As I said, participating with you allows me to participate.
participate with them.
Absolutely.
Well, we are glad to be here for that.
And I'm so glad you're here.
One of the things that's so incredible about Dr. Lipton is, you know, the vast, you know,
kind of scope of knowledge he has about the smallest things and the biggest things, right?
Like, we're here talking about consciousness and we're talking about evolution.
And it's a really pioneering, you know, kind of notion, like his entire career.
But to say that Darwin was wrong is a really, really big statement.
But one of the things that, you know, he's focusing on, as I said, in sort of the scope of his work is like the smallest thing and the biggest thing.
So he's pointing out, you know, with this book and in our conversation how, you know, cooperation, right, the purpose of competition, the purpose of survival, how that is important on this large scale.
But on the smallest scale, you know, he's literally talking about.
that everyone has a different distribution of a set of proteins that are coded by your DNA
and the distribution of those proteins which receive hormone signaling and neurotransmitters
and they're changing the purpose of every cell, right?
That distribution is more of an imprint, right, of who you actually are.
And the notion that that sends out some sort of, you know, cosmic signal about who you are, that that's actually who you are, right?
That's what your DNA is for.
It's coding for proteins that are receiving information from the environment, right?
But the DNA that has predicted what those protein receptors will look like is determining how the environment then can change your cells.
So here's a crazy question.
If I could replicate all of that,
would it connect to the energetic field
and create another version of me exactly in a different form?
I mean...
The essence of me.
I think the question would be,
why are you asking that?
Meaning, is the question,
is that all I am?
Or it's more of a creative question?
I think it's a creative question.
I don't like creative questions.
That's deep in your programming.
we talk about like the soul being this unidentifiable ambiguous animating force and when you know it gives
us character and it gives us qualities and attributes that we can't necessarily measure right it's like
they're just them they have an essence to them or they feel like the person who I know or yeah and
all of a sudden if there are these you know what he called a 65 trillion variations of combinations
and if you could actually map that and recreate all of them.
I'm going to give you a really specific example.
So I'm going to use an example that we've talked about a lot here
and that many of us maybe know about on a surface level.
That's funny if you know about chemistry, molecules, surface molecules.
I'm sure many people are laughing.
Many people are laughing right now.
No one in this room, but that's okay.
So when we talk about SSRIs, right, selective serotonin re-uptake inhibitors.
right? What SSRIs do, and these are kind of like your Prozac's, right? There's your general SSRIs.
What they do is they inhibit serotonin being removed from synaptic clefts. They're allowing more serotonin to float around.
That's the easiest way to think of it. More serotonin's floating around. But the reason that we get to talk about it in this conversation is that what happens when serotonin floats around?
You don't know.
I don't know.
Okay, so great.
So serenit...
It binds to receptors.
That's right.
Yeah. I do know that.
So the receptor, you know, the receptor is kind of the human term for what it actually is, which is a protein.
And a protein means it's a bunch of amino acids that have just twisted around to make a pretty shape.
And this protein embeds itself in the membrane of a cell.
Okay?
So this protein receptor is the only thing that can take something from the outside and make changes inside.
So that's what we're talking about.
When we talk about people and who we are, how many, and this part, I actually don't know if this is even an accurate way to say it.
But how many of these receptors do you have that are sensitive to serotonin?
Are they working right?
When the serotonin binds, do you know what to do with it?
you know, if you're the receptor, what cascade of changes is going to happen inside of that cell that we then communicate as I feel good today, right?
that's in a sense who we are.
But the place that Dr. Lipton is blowing this field wide open and has for the past 40 or 50 years
is that he's saying everything about the environment that we live in, lifestyle, the choices we make,
the people we talk to, the way we think, how much time we spend in meditation or on psychedelics,
that changes this environment so that the cell is that.
been impacted by the environment of where the serotonin is floating, how it's binding, all these
things. That's the interplay. It's not just about what receptors do you have. Correct. And another
way of saying that maybe even more simplistically is that if your receptors aren't binding well,
you can change the way that they bind so that they can bind better. Well, I mean, look,
I'm using a medication example because it's one of the easiest ways that we can
explain. But we also know that exercise is in many cases, you know, Johann Hari's episode talks
about this and as does every other episode where we've talked about the misreporting and the
lack of reporting by pharmaceutical companies when they're even testing SSRIs. In many cases,
exercise is phenomenal. Sometimes far better. I don't want to say far because I don't have the
stats here. Cognitive behavioral therapy in many cases, consistent and reliable cognitive
behavioral therapy.
Fake it until you make it, as you would say.
Well, that's not what adjusting perspective.
That's not exactly what cognitive behavioral therapy is doing.
No dis to the cognitive therapist out there.
The idea being there are many ways to shift distribution of chemicals and the ability then
for your receptors to kind of show up and, you know, do their particular dance.
Yeah.
Four ways to reprogram yourself.
training, self-hypnosis.
Yep.
Getting into, well, self-hypnosis is getting into a Theta State, so I'm missing number three.
And number four was something you can't do actually for yourself, which is the shocking life
scenario whereby something happens in your life that you're so fundamentally changed that
your perspective.
Every way you see the world is adjusted.
And I think that's what happens with these near-death experiencers.
They experience something so profound that they can't go back.
They can't go back to the way that they were thinking, how they were perceiving the decisions they were making.
Yeah, I mean, I think we can even slow down that kind of understanding.
So in a near-death experience, in a psychedelic journey, when you've experienced a significant, you know, trauma, those are.
are, you know, in many cases, things that shock the system, right? But when people like Anita
Morgiani, you know, talk about their experience or really any of our near-death experiencers,
Elizabeth Crone, you know, they're talking about some fundamental global rebooting, right? It's literally
like the system has been shut down and rebooted, you know, which I don't, yeah, I don't
think it's reserved for dying, right? But I do think that in the right environment, right? Because
Paul Stammitts, even, when he took his accidental heroic dose, it was a thing that was beyond
heroic dose of psilocybin, there could have been anything different about that situation that
might have led to a very different outcome, right? Like all these things need to be in place for
those kind of events, right, to take hold the way we're talking about. But yeah, I was very, you
interested in this notion that those first seven years of life, you know, and of course,
I'm like, I don't remember being particularly dreamy. My kids weren't particularly dreamy kids,
actually. I mean, they had, like, things that they like to pretend and do, but, you know,
sometimes you meet a kid and you're like, that kid's in Theta State. Like, that Zander is in
theta state, right? But every kid's different. All kids are in their own world to some degree.
That's why they're so fun. And they are spoken as someone who loves,
little kids. He does. You really do.
Having a kid under three around,
like two and a half three, they're just wandering
around thinking they know things. It's amazing.
It's so fun.
It just sounds like Jonathan's in Theta State
right now. So yeah, when we
look at kids who are in that
kind of their own
world and sort of that dreaminess
when they can imagine anything
and they can, you know, they have imaginary friends,
right? That's a very special
period of time when also
we know they're highly impressionable.
and they're sponges. They're sponges for information. They can learn three languages. I mean,
I have cousins who grew up speaking three languages, and the kids know which parents speaks which,
and they can speak, oh, this one speaks Hebrew and this one doesn't. It's amazing. So that's those years.
How do we recreate that? Clearly, psychedelics, right, in certain situations, psychedelics,
meditation. You know, I feel like Bruce was a little bit, you know, hard on people who like to
meditate as a way to access this state. But yeah, there are kinds of trainings that we can do.
You know, he mentioned some of the auditory, you know, stimulation. A lot of people will listen to
theta rhythms and things like that while they're sleeping. Some people report that it shifts their
sleep significantly, significantly. Have you tried that? No. Maybe we should. That's actually
not true. I think it's weird to have my phone playing something for eight hours. You just don't want
your screen time to go up.
I just like, it's weird to me when I've seen them.
I've done shorter meditations like that.
But when I've seen it, it's like, this will play for the next 12 hours.
It just seems weird.
Maybe I should start that while I'm working.
Just get me into that zone.
It's actually, I was thinking about that because you and I both, we know we shouldn't look at our screens before bed.
And I think like we go into phases of being better and worse about that.
But we both have a very difficult time being in our own mind before bed.
The last time we spoke to Dr. Lipton, he was talking about.
the self-hypnosis, and I created one. I never told you about it. Excuse me? Yeah, I went on my
voice note recorder. I created one and I was like, great, I'm going to listen to this. What did it say?
Well, it just say, you know, that's a little personal. Oh, no. It's a little personal. It said you're good
enough, you're smart enough, and gosh darn it, people like you. It did say that. No, I was,
I was getting some limiting beliefs about abundance out of my, out of my system. I was, you know, I, I, I fluctuate
between being very mathematical, being like, oh, I've done this and that and it's led to this.
And so I have to like find that formula.
And if I only do one more step, but I actually think that's a very limiting way to think.
Recently I got a text out of nowhere.
And I got invited to a movie screening by someone I hadn't spoken to in, I don't know,
we hadn't seen each other in 15 years.
And it was a producer friend of mine that I used to work for when I was right out of AFI.
And we really got along.
We had, you know, she was into spiritual stuff and still is.
And I am.
And we just kind of bonded on like, oh, we were working on a show about psychics, actually.
And then, you know, I went back to Toronto.
We lost touch for a while.
And then, like, we've texted a few times, but haven't connected.
A month ago, they invite me to a movie screening.
that leads to me meeting a handful of other people, met someone else.
And so all of a sudden, out of nowhere, something can appear and open up an entirely new door
and a set of opportunities that I never would have imagined.
And in my calculus, I'm not equating for the unexpected, right?
I'm only crunching the data that I have on a very limited set of opportunities.
Your programming is exactly what you know to program, basically.
Exactly.
So what if you pull back?
a little bit and I can feel, wait a second, I want to create a more abundant, exciting life
filled with opportunities that I can't even put a framework around yet, meaning, is it a film,
is it a new venture, is it something amazing and maybe it doesn't have to be hard.
Is this what the recording was that you made?
Well, I started to pull back a little bit to just sort of set those wider parameters.
and that was an example of how it could start to shift my thinking to pull me away from,
because when I'm in those moments of like trying to figure out the next steps,
it's very myopic, right?
It's like so dialed in as to be stressful.
It's like, oh, but it's not going to be enough.
And it has a lot of that limiting belief programming.
I have to work so hard and I have to work harder because it's not going to be enough unless I do this much more.
But like, what about stepping way back?
and having a totally different. And so that type of hypnosis programming, the intention was,
okay, what feels way more expansive, what feels easier, what feels like I can contribute to something
greater than the smaller things that I'm thinking about right now? And I think that helps not go
into the tunnel vision, which could then prevent me from maybe I got that, that, that,
invite and I was like, I don't want to go
because I don't know something and that limits
an opportunity. I'm laughing because I think I'm going to
ask Valerie to take that
speech you just made and just make it into an
audio file and I'll just listen to that over
and over for eight hours.
You could. Now, the problem I ran
into is that when I did my voice recording,
it didn't loop. So it
was like 40 seconds long
and I wanted to continue to loop it, but I didn't know how
to loop it. You better be in theta for those 40
seconds or it's not going to work. Yeah, no,
I needed. So anyway, there's a little
bit of a technological challenge in order to make yourself a self-hypnosis. And then like,
what program do you play it on? I don't know, I can't upload it to Spotify. I don't know how to do
that. So, and like no one has MP3s anymore. So anyway, there's a little bit of, there's a tactical.
It's a practical, tactical issue. If we're going to provide solutions, people should be able to
figure out how to execute the solutions. And I'm here with you to anyone who's like, well,
how do I actually do that? I'm trying to figure out that problem. One of the things I also wanted to
remind people before we wrap here is in a typical, typical, putting that in quotes,
in a typical, you know, eight-hour sleep cycle, what usually happens is the deepest you go is
first.
Oh, yeah.
And then throughout the night, you have these periods of REM, right, which is very, very active, brain
activity-wise.
And then you have subsequent stages throughout the evening, but they are less and less.
So if you've ever had a newborn or been around a newborn, you know that they can usually sleep better in those first couple hours that you put them down.
But then something crazy starts happening.
Or if you've ever had a menopausal girlfriend.
I can't focus because I'm laughing at myself.
I'm like, I have a new business idea.
I will record people's self-hypnosis.
Send me a script.
You have a lovely voice.
And I will record.
No, that's weird. You just made it weird.
I will record.
That would bring me right out of theta and into REM.
Set a sleep timer for like 40 minutes because you'll drop in, do your theta, get reprogrammed.
Do your theta.
You know, it feels like we did enough here today.
I think we're done.
