Everybody has the capacity to channel.
But our culture is so externally focused.
Is there science of channeling?
Can we definitively prove in some way?
Telepathy, precognition, clairvoyance, we're getting there.
How many of us are shutting it off?
I want to shift the conversation for people from,
do I have it or don't I, to what's my unique way of expressing it?
When people tap into this noetic wisdom, their decision-making improves, their health improves,
their relationships improve.
Dr. Helena Wabe is the Director of Research
at the Institute of Noetic Sciences.
She's best known for her pioneering research
on the science of channeling.
What is an exorcism?
It's just these very dense beings that haven't moved on.
Some are positive, some are negative.
Chakras are energy vortices in different parts of the body.
Imagine your crown chakra like an aperture of a camera.
We do not want to walk around the world with our channeling aperture wide open.
It is not healthy.
Can you describe other ways that people get information that they don't realize?

Hi, I'm I am Bialik.
And I'm Jonathan Cohen.
And welcome to our breakdown.
down. What if the sensations, gut feelings, visions, synchronicities that you have experienced are actually
not random and they're not all in your head? Today we're going to explore the scientific research
behind channeling, intuition, psychic abilities, telepathy, precognition, energy, healing, and
non-local consciousness. We are also going to explore exercises.
and if extraterrestrials are actually speaking through channelers.
Today we're speaking with Dr. Helena Wabe.
She is the Director of Research at the Institute of Noetic Sciences.
And if you don't know what the Institute of Noetic Sciences is, you have to check it out.
There is an entire clinical research facility dedicated to understanding extrasensory perception,
the paranormal, parapsychology.
It's a fascinating institution.
And Dr. Wabe also leads rigorous interdisciplinary research on consciousness, health, and extended
human capacity.
She's received a five-year National Institutes of Health.
That's NIHK Award for Advanced Training and Clinical Research in Neuroscience in Electrophysiology
and Biostatistics.
Dr. Wabi is especially known for her pioneering research on channeling.
She's authored more than 100 peer-reviewed journal articles, and she brings 25 years of a dedicated
meditation practice to her work at the frontiers of noetic science, we're going to be discussing
the science of channeling a really, really fantastic book, why you should trust your intuition and
embrace the force that connects us all. If you've ever wondered, what is the science behind
all of the paranormal things that so many of us either experience, have questions about or
have doubts about, Dr. Waba is going to walk us through all of it. It's an incredible episode.
Make sure to join us over on Substack. We have some exercises that
Dr. Wabi is doing with us that is available only for our community over on Substack.
Whether you're interested in channeling, telepathy, consciousness research, reiki and energy
healing, extraterrestrial contact, chakras, spirituality, sci phenomena, or the future of science
itself, this conversation is going to challenge how you think about reality. What a pleasure
to welcome in person, Dr. Wabi to the breakdown.
Break it down. Thank you so much. I'm so honored to be here with you.
We're very excited to have you here because one of the topics that gets the most attention here is channeling.
And you are literally the authority on not just channeling, but the science of channeling.
Is there science of channeling?
How can we study it?
How can we distinguish between imagination and reality?
Where can we begin in terms of your personal connection with channeling?
I think I have a very unique story.
that I bring to the topic of channeling and the science of channeling specifically.
And so, you know, you heard in my background, I have this, you know, clinical training,
academic training.
But what people don't hear about in my background is my actual personal experience of channeling
as a child growing up.
And my introduction to this was at my grandparents' house at 10 years old, which was basically
a spiritualist seance.
that I showed up in my grandparents living room.
And there are about, you know, 30, 40 people in the space sitting in a circle.
And my grandmother and my uncle were doing something that, you know, we called trans channeling.
Can you tell us a little bit about your family history?
Like your ethnic background, who is your family?
So I'm actually Palestinian-American.
And my family is from a little town outside of Jerusalem,
called Berset. It's a university town. And they, you know, my family's been there for, you know,
multiple millennia. And obviously that is a very intense war-torn area. And my grandfather had an
incredible opportunity to come to the States after the Six-Day War. And so he brought his family
to the San Francisco Bay Area. It's also a very rich spiritual tradition. This is a family.
that has a spiritual kind of identity that you got to step into?
So what's really fascinating, I was raised Orthodox Christian,
and my great uncle was actually an Orthodox priest,
and he was a specialist in exorcisms,
which is another very fascinating background.
So, you know, very traditional Christian background,
and yet my grandfather was just on fire
with these deeper spiritual questions,
And he learned about the spiritualists, you know, that really had their big heyday in the 1800s.
And he just, he would send letters to people in England.
He got so excited about this.
And he would accompany his uncle, my great uncle, to these various exorcisms and to these various people's houses where people would go into trans states and do all these strange things.
So he was a scholar, very excited to learn about this.
And one day he brought his young one.
wife with him to one of these experiences. And all of a sudden, she goes into a trance and starts
speaking in a voice that was not her own. And he discovered that she was actually a trans channel.
And of course, he was secretly very, very excited because now he could just study it in his
own family. So that was kind of the beginning of this big adventure for him. And so that was
his life's mission was to essentially prove, if you will, this spiritual aspect of reality
and are kind of a spiritualist worldview that spirits exist, that they can support us and help
us. We can be in conversation with them. We're definitely more than these physical bodies
and how we can use that to enrich our lives. So you're 10 years old. I'm 10 years old. I'm 10 years
And you, were you aware that your family has this rich, spiritual, mystical connection?
I knew about it, but it was from a 10-year-old perspective, like, oh, okay, here's this thing.
You know, my mother would do hands-on healing, like if I had a stomach ache and stuff like that.
So there was that aspect of it, but, and I didn't really know, my mom gave me no context.
Like she's like, oh, we're just going to Tatton Cito's house.
I'm like, okay.
So I show up there and I was like, whoa, what's going on here?
So that was really fascinating.
And, you know, as a child, I was a little nervous because I'm like, are they going to jump in me?
What does it look like to walk into a trans exorcism situation?
Yeah, well, this specific one wasn't an exorcism.
So the traditional way that they worked it is that, you know, my grandmother or my uncle
would go into a trans state and they would just say welcome, you know, here I am. And then people
would ask questions, you know, whether it was personal questions or deep spiritual, philosophical
questions, and then they would share an answer. And, you know, my grandfather recorded all this
and people gained a lot of solace and information, you know, similar to what people might
gain from a media mistake or channeling session today, but it was just done in a group setting.
And so people would go around and ask questions or sometimes whoever was speaking would direct
information to a specific person. And so they weren't charging any money. This was not publicly
advertised. This wasn't done for fame or fortune at all. It was really a deep spiritual quest for
understanding of, you know, who are we? What are we doing here? Like, what's our purpose on this planet?
And so I think for me, um, as Helena, the person, you know, I have a, a deeper sense of, um,
believingness, if you will, because these are my relatives who I know so deeply. And like,
there's no reason for them to fake it. And sure. My grandmother is not, wasn't an actress. Like,
there's no way she could have created or manufactured those voices.
There's kind of two camps here, right, that everything happening is theatrical and it is
conjured and it is fake and the people that are doing it know that it's fake.
That is kind of one category, right?
But this other category where, you know, your book resides is in this place where the people
who are experiencing this are experiencing this are experiencing.
experiencing something real. It is real to them. It has a tremendous impact and significance. And
it's not that they're crazy, right? By all clinical standards, these are not people who are mentally ill.
It's this, these are not schizophrenic, you know, delusions. These are not hallucinations.
There's something happening where people are tuned into a different frequency that most of us are not
accessing on the daily. And that is rippling out in ways that are not, not.
only important, but clinically significant. Does that feel right in terms of these two perspectives?
Yes, 100%. And, you know, the human mind gets really stuck on, well, what actually is the
source? You know, like people, that's almost always the first question. Is there any other questions
asked? I know, right? So, so with my scientist hat on, I can say, we cannot definitively say
what the source actually is. You know, as far as I know, we don't have the tools to be able to
definitively prove that this is some non-physical being that's communicating through them.
And so I really invite people to focus less on what the source is and more on what the content
is. And what is the content? Does it support us? Is it resonant? Does it help my life in any way?
Is it telling me to go jump off a bridge? Okay, there's something not right there, right? But if it's
actually giving me useful information that's actionable in my life and I take action on it and my
life becomes better and I have better quality of life or improved health, then on some level,
it almost doesn't matter what the source is. And then if I can take that one step further,
you know, if we want to hold this premise that we are all interconnected in some way,
that even if it is showing up as a separate non-physical entity,
personality on a larger scale, that's still some aspect of myself.

In your family, did it have a personality? Did it come through as something? You know,
there are many channelers now that have a pretty elaborate story as to what their connection.
to, and that seems to be part of the suspension of disbelief that, you know, there's a,
it helps the rational mind sort of settle in. And each one of them still say, focus on the
information, is it beneficial, it's less important as to where it's coming from rationally
than the fact that it's coming and helping you. But in your family lineage, was there an
exploration of personality, voice, characteristic, or where it was coming from? Yes, there definitely was.
know you've spoken to Daryl Anka and Lee Harris, who are wonderful channelers. And they're, you know,
one type of channeler who channels the same supposed being, right? So, you know,
Daryl's Bishar, Lee Harris's disease. So, but that's not all types of transchannelers. So
there's transchannelers who don't have one specific entity, if you will, that's coming through
them and it really depends on who they're sitting with. And so that was the case in my family.
There wasn't a specific... It was just an open channel. It was an open, but protected.
Yeah, but what I mean is open to everybody. Well, protected as you don't want dark entities
coming in. Exactly. But was there recurring entities or recurring characters that I put characters
in air quotes that were coming through? Like you think about Abraham Hicks, for example, and
people who are channeling sort of on repeat, it sounds like there were a variety of different
types of information that came through, but I would assume, and this is a big assumption,
that there are repeated, you know, again, I don't know what else to call them besides
characters. Yes. So my uncle Zahar was, had the, they called the universal mind,
which was essentially a group voice of higher wisdom. So that,
very commonly came through. In fact, he automatically wrote a book called From a Gun to a
flower that he put out there and just recently wrote, channeled another book similarly.
And so there are some channelers who say, if you channel more than one being, you're not a
real channeler. And I completely do not ascribe.
What's all the channeler politics?
Well, it's so funny. I mean, just like any other field, you know, egos can sometimes get involved. But I don't know the rationale for that. I learned that when I was at a Gaia conference on channeling. And I found that very fascinating because that hasn't been my experience at all. And, you know, you look at mediumistic sessions. And so, you know, someone's there for a specific purpose to connect with a specific
person. And so it's very similar for trans channeling in that, you know, sometimes often it is the person's
spiritual guides or a spokesperson of them. Again, quotes, quotes, quotes, quotes,
because I have to balance the scientist hat versus personal hat. Can you help us understand
just sort of the definitions between channeling, mediumship, psychics, and in particular, trans-channeling
within channeling.
Yes.
So this was one of my hugest frustrations when I joined this field is that there were so many
terms and often the same term had different definitions for different people.
So let me just tell you how I think about it.
So I use the word channeling as a broad umbrella definition.
that actually encompasses what you would call psychic as well.
And so channeling is this process of accessing information and energy
from beyond our conventional notions of time and space,
and it can appear receptive or expressive.
And that, you know, I propose that everybody has the capacity to channel in some way,
but that the way it shows up for that person is really quite unique.
And so what we know through the research is that there is a diversity of ways that channeling shows up from, you know, run-of-the-mill gut hunches on one side of the spectrum to things like mental mediumship and trans-channeling. And then in between you have precognition and telepathy and psychokinesis, a remote viewing, etc. And so that's the broad definition. Now, I mentioned that extreme
of the spectrum of trans-channeling and mental mediumship. So I consider trans-channeling a slice of this
larger channeling umbrella. So trans-channelers believe that their body is used as a vehicle for a
non-physical being to speak through them. It's an embodiment. It is an embodiment. So there's no
middle person, if you will. So with consent, the
supposed non-physical being uses their library of their mind, their voice box to speak,
sometimes to write, sometimes to move. Okay. So that is, and some people would call
trans-channeling trans mediumship. That is the same thing. However, mental mediumship is
different. And so that's what you'll, you know, see in the popular media, all the mediums,
et cetera. And so, and you'll see this when you see those sessions. They'll say, I'm getting,
you know, the symbol. I'm seeing the rose or I, you know, is this Uncle Joe because he's showing me
the car. Yeah. So they're receiving information, whether that's auditory or visual or sense in their
bodies. And then they translate it to the sitter. So, so there's a middle person. And I'm not saying one's
better than the other. Got it. But the process of it is quite different. So Daryl and Lee would be
transchannelers as they go into, the character almost takes over their physical being. Exactly.
So Lee isn't hearing the Zs and then repeating. Darrell isn't either, although he describes it
more of a telepathic connection. So, yeah, it's different. And so my relatives and myself, I've since
learned how to do trans-channeling, which is we can talk about, which was so amazingly cool.
There's no awareness of what words are going to come out of your mouth next. It is the most
incredible experience I've ever had in my life. I mean, you can't imagine. Like, if you,
if you don't know what that's like, I can't imagine, because I only can imagine the command that I
have over my mind, right? It's like my most proud tool, which apparently is not going to serve me
well in the afterlife. But that's what I think of as like the best example of my development as a
human, right? Meaning in the Western cognitive based rationalist, materialist. Maybe you've taken it
as far as it will help you. And now you have to let it. You have to let it relax. Taking the train as
far as it can go. Okay. Well, here's a, here's a big question. And we get dividing perspectives on this.
you say everyone has the ability to do this.
We've heard some people have the ability
and it cannot be taught.
I consider myself a mediocre piano player.
And you could sit me for thousands and thousands of hours
with the finest classical, you know,
instructor on the planet.
I'm never going to read.
Like there's a ceiling effect based on my genetics,
like whatever.
Can Mime learn how to channel?
Is the real question given?
Given the control of her mind over everything else.
No, but I think that is the question.
Is there a point that people who are complete novices can be taught this set of skills?
Because the reason that I also asked you about your family is like, I believe that there is something in you that has been there for however long we'd like to imagine.
That's your, like your lineage has gifted you, right, with something so special.
But your lineage has also gifted you.
But it's been diluted by all the other Eastern European input.
My mother is part Hungarian.
And Hungarian women in particular are known to be.
They have some special abilities.
But I'm wondering if my grandmother had married a Hungarian, it would have been more pure.
It's been diluted by Poland and Ukraine.
I don't have that strength of power is the way I see it.
Can that be taught?
Yes is the short answer. So here's how we're thinking about it at ions, that it is nature and nurture. And so I really, and do propose that we really do all have the capacity for some type of channeling. You have to be open to it too. You have to be open to it. But the type of channeling that you may eventually do well at is not going to be the same for everybody.
And I do believe that that is partly determined by your genetics.
And I can talk about the genetic studies that we've done.
And so just like you said, just like with any other skill, there's a curve, right?
So I'm 5-2.
I'm never going to be the NBA basketball player, but I could dribble the ball and make the basket.
And we could say, yay, and I could practice every day and I could actually get better.
But I'm never going to be the superstar.
Not everybody's going to be the talented superstar, but if you took anybody off the street, they could develop some type of channeling ability, whether that's gut hunches.
Now, we have this whole other program called the Noetic Signature, which is really diving into people's unique expression of it.
So, for example, I get goosebumps, right?
My truth bumps.
A lot of people get that.
but a lot of people don't.
And they might actually just get, you know, downloads or packets of information that just
show up for them.
Or they might get visuals or they might hear words.
And so I guess I want to shift the conversation for people from, do I have it or don't I,
to what's my unique way of expressing it?
And how do I discover that and how do I build it?
to my strengths and really work towards expanding my intuitive capacity to support me.
Because what we do see over and over and over again is that when people tap into this noetic
wisdom, their lives improve. Their decision making improve, their health improves,
their relationships improve. And so there is a benefit to building this capacity,
regardless of what that looks like. And then also inviting people to stay away with
from the competitiveness about it,
just because, you know,
so-and-so's like this amazing remote viewer
doesn't mean you have to be.
Your expression could be completely different.
I kind of feel like I need you to hug me while you tell me that.
And it's totally okay.
And so what's mine?
And that is literally chapter eight, you know, of your book.
And I literally, I dog-eared that immediately
because this notion,
and there's also, I mean, it's such a fun book
because there's all these different questions
and we're going to do one for substack so that people can can see the kind of examples you give.
But there are ways to gauge.
And I love that that's the clinical kind of perspective that you're bringing to this work.
There are ways to quantify and qualify, right?
What is actually your kind of uniqueness and your signature?
And one of the things that I was thinking of was how many people, I mean, possibly all of us,
are walking around and there's information that's available to us.
it's there, but how many of us are shutting it off,
how many of us are numbing it away, right?
With drugs, with alcohol, with work, like, whatever it is.
Like, everything's out there, and every theoretical physicist and astrophysicist
we've spoken to has said this.
Like, information is out there, right?
There is stuff out there.
Energetically, we know that we have an energy body, right?
We interact with other people.
We know that we share a microbiome with other people.
Like, these things are the things we know, but how many other signs are people,
are people getting where they say,
no, I need to push that away.
That's not it.
That's what's interesting to me
because if you don't even know
kind of what your signature is,
you don't even know what's coming in.
For some people, a stomach ache
that they keep taking medication for
or they think they have an ulcer
or they think this and I got to go to the doctor.
What if, right, that's part of the way
their body's communicating.
You shouldn't be in this relationship
or there's something heavy going on in your life.
100%.
And that was actually.
the main purpose for me writing that book because until we have some context for people to
understand these experiences, they're going to get shoved under the rug or it's going to
affect people negatively. Just to give you an example. So, you know, one of the signatures
is empathy, clear empathy. So not like your normal empathy, but like picking up on other
people's emotions. To the point that it can be distracting or damaging even for you.
Exactly. And so if people don't know that they're a clear empath and they, you know, say are at a party and then they go home and they're like completely exhausted, they are have a headache. They're totally sick.
They throw something. Yeah. They throw something, whatever. Because there's no awareness of energetic hygiene and management. And so until we start having these conversations, we can't teach people how to.
manage those energies. We do not want to walk around the world with our channeling aperture wide open.
It is not healthy. What does that look like? It diminishes our ability to be functional and healthy,
right? So, you know, at extreme level, if someone's incredibly sensitive and they are in a crowd,
they're going to pick up everybody's emotions, all of their thought forms, and be completely overwhelmed.
And so I think there is this connection to mental health of people who are unaware of these capacities and without context or support to be able to manage them.
I have a question that is not something I even thought we would talk about today, but I have to mention it because in this era of social media, in this era of, in many cases, misdiagnosis or misinformation or, you know, a lot of clinical conversations going on.
in non-clinical settings, how many people identify as neurodivergent who share these kind of qualities
and who say, oh, I'm a highly sensitive person. I never knew. A lot of people are being told
it means you're on the spectrum. You're neurodivergent. Is it possible that a lot of these people
are actually receptive to things that they've never known to define? Yes. Although we need a lot more
research to actually be able to formally evaluate that. But I would say yes, because I think more and
more humans are awakening to this capacity in themselves. And we're in a culture that doesn't
quite support it yet. And then it gets a label that, you know, can often have negative connotations.
Or might not be getting you the assistance that you need because there's nothing wrong with being
neurodivergent on the spectrum, a highly sensitive person, I happen to be one, but what if there's
more, right?
Right.
And what if those highly sensitive people were taught, you know, hey, here's some exercises
to do every morning to help you deal with that and to actually turn down your sensitivity
when you go to a concert?
Literally, I just stopped going.
I mean, that was the only, and we've talked about this.
Like, for me, whatever is, I don't even know that I understand it, but there is something.
something that is too open and it's just it all is coming in and I'm absorbing all of it is what it
feels like. But I don't know that I know how to like, you know, angle around it. So I just don't go
places. We have a lot of protocols and ways to audit our thoughts, to work on our body, to think
about the food we're eating, but we don't really have a practice or protocol for our energetic
health. You know, we're just out there, whatever information is available to us. We don't
really know where it's coming from. We don't, we never consider what's in our field. We don't
consider what we're connected to how our thoughts are actually linking us maybe to an energy
pattern that could really be destructive to us. So like, I love this idea of like, let's do
some maintenance. Let's figure out what we're connected to, what we're tuning into. Right. And I think
that the opening of that is limited by our whole paradigm shift, right? Because it's shifting.
It's definitely changing, as you've witnessed.
But in the past, you were labeled as having a mental health illness if you were experiencing
this or that it was impossible, et cetera.
And that just shut down the conversation.
So let's let go of that and open the conversation up so that we can start talking about,
well, okay, here's my expression.
How do I actually manage that?
and it really is not that difficult once you engage.

Where do you think the line is between intuition and psychic ability?
Because in some ways, psychic ability gets a bad rap because you think about someone with a crystal ball
or you think about someone trying to be overly prophetic.
But it feels like in many ways when you are really tuned into your intuition,
what you were getting is small increments of psychic knowing.
Yeah, I wouldn't distinguish the two.
I think it's just, again, nomenclature that is trying to describe the interconnected aspect of reality
and that, you know, whether I'm gaining that information intuitively about myself or someone else,
some different person would call that a psychic hit.
When you describe the goose bump scenario, some people may never identify that that is a sign that something is being communicated to them.
Can you describe other ways that people get information that they don't realize they're getting information?
A nice framework to describe that is the noetic signature program that we went through.
So we've done a number of studies.
And what we found were 12 main characteristics for how people's,
knowetic signature shows up for them.
She loves a list.
I love a list.
Okay.
So the first is your general intuition, which comes in three flavors, right?
I just know it.
It's very mental.
It comes in cognitively.
And that feels just like a thought.
It's a mental knowledge knowing.
I just know that I'm going to go to this college.
Without evidence.
Without evidence, right?
It's just a knowingness.
Can it also be like someone says something and you're like,
I know that's never going to happen.
There is a negative too.
Yes.
But I don't know.
You know, the whole, that's never going to happen.
It may not.
It might not show up exactly like that.
But it may be like a, hey, that's a, don't go there.
This is a, oh, yes, go there.
You're saying intuition because it's like an intuitive knowing.
It's a general intuition that has three flavors.
The mental, the kind of gut feeling, I just feel that it's true.
and emotional. Okay. So that's one, general intuition. Then we have ways that are embodied, right? So we have
embodied sensations. And those are sensations in the body that signal to us that we're getting noetic
information. So goosebumps, hot flash, you know, dizziness, and people learn to identify,
okay, I'm receiving some noetic information right now. Those are called.
called embodied sensations.
But sometimes you just get chills.
Yes, that's true.
So does you just get hot flashes?
It feels different and you can.
Sometimes you're dizzy.
You start discerning.
Oh.
It's not like it becomes different.
Yes.
It's like a signal.
And then the one I wanted to give you an example, which is really unique, is around physical
sensations from other people.
Because this one is really fascinating.
It's not as common.
Oh, yeah.
Some healers have this.
Yes.
Yeah.
So let's say, you know, you feel totally fine.
You're going to go have coffee with a friend.
You go, you sit down with the person and all of a sudden you have this like splitting headache.
What's going on?
And you're thinking this to yourself and you're chatting with your friend.
And then, you know, 15 minutes in the conversation, they're like, yeah, I've had this horrible headache for this lung.
You're like, oh, that's actually not my headache.
That's their headache that I'm feeling.
and then usually once it's acknowledged, it goes away.
I've had a headaches and Sundays at yours.
Would you like to take it back?
My head's fine.
Who are you tapping into, though?
You'll hear of people for whom other people's pain is contagious.
Yes.
My mother's been having sciatica and hand to God I've never had sciatica.
And I have started getting, you know what?
I shouldn't even talk about this because she's going to listen.
She's going to be like, I knew we're connected in the womb.
But sometimes healers will describe that when they lay hands or when they're dropping in, I don't know, that they can feel in their body the pain that someone else is feeling. They take it on.
And they're doing that usually consciously as part of their healing process. But there's people who aren't even aware that that's part of their noetic signature. And they are like, why am I getting this knee pain? Oh, so-and-so has knee pain. Okay.
Because everyone who has chronic pain, are we just tapping into everybody else's pain?
Like, true story in the science fiction version of my life, that's the screenplay you write,
that every woman who's like having chronic pain and autoimmune stuff and every doctor's like,
I don't know, let's put you on more sedatives.
Maybe we're tapping into something and no one knows.
And this is the moment we figure it out.
You thought the Hungarian lineage was diluted.
It's not.
It's strong.
Right.
And so, you know, the likelihood is that it's multifactorial and yet that may play a big part.
We've got intuition.
Yeah.
We've got this sort of embodied sensations.
Embodied sensations.
Fiscal sensations from other people.
And then the third kind of bodied one is being able to touch an object and actually get information from it.
So this is like what the mediums on TV do.
And I'm like, that's not real.
No, it is real.
It's called psychometry.
There's been less research formally done on psychometry.
How do you do research on that?
Yeah.
Like what kind of double-blind study do you do on like, do you know if this handkerchief is my grandmother's or not?
There's a wonderful researcher at West Georgia, Christine Simmons-Moor, who just finished a really cool small psychometry study with rings.
And, yeah, it was very fun.
That's why you never want a ring from a marriage that didn't work.
It's a thing.
Interesting. Yeah, that's very true. So that's less common. Psychometry is definitely less common. Then you get into visualization and kind of mental imagery to either affect or gain information. So that's the category that would include like remote viewing and manifestation. And then there's another characteristic that is related to that that's healing because often healing will use those same.
visualizations, manifestations for healing. It's a type of mind matter interaction, if you will.
Then we have, you know, telepathy, precognition, clear audience, apparent communication with
non-physical beings, which is the mediums and channeling, which we've already talked about.
And then the last two are really interesting. So, you know, we used our statistics to come up with
this factor model for the 12 characteristics.
So we let the data drive the results.
So one of them was whether the information is actually used in their daily life for decision-making.
So it's not necessarily a skill or a characteristic per se, but it's how it's being used.
I feel like I have a variety of different ways that things communicate to me.
Often it's just like a hard know or hard-knowing or a physical sensation.
I call it he's talking to the universe.
Like, we'll be in the supermarket, and he gets quiet, and he does this thing with his hand,
and I'm like, oh, he's talking to the universe.
Sometimes it's about, should he buy this food or not?
Like, will it be good for his body?
Often if I'm having a stomach problem.
I'm not quite sure where I'm being guided to go, and I sort of feel a little bit like...
Candy, for me, always candy.
Just head to chocolate.
That's probably...
Probably not a good idea.
What's interesting to me about this and why it actually gets a little bit confusing.
because there's a question of, is it possible? But then there's also a question of what is guiding
our overall system? For example, you know, if we have a strong emotional reaction, sometimes I can
unpack that and really be like, actually, you know, I was closed to an idea and so I have a strong
emotional reaction and like the difference between that and what am I being guided towards
is complicated. And sometimes the intuition is actually, you know, that was my first
reaction and then when I unpack it, I may have resistance, but actually that's really being
shown to me as something that isn't going to be helpful. And so the other component I think to this
is I speak to a lot of people who are like really dialed, like their intuition has been
dialed in for years. And I've asked them, have you set guiding parameters for your life?
meaning your intuition, in my opinion, goes with what your objectives are.
The people that I've seen that I've used their intuition the best are not necessarily
setting an intuition by every moment, but their life has some like centralized guideposts.
Like I want to be as creative as possible or I want to be as much service as possible.
And then their intuition, because we have agency in this world and we're not simply doing
whatever spirit tells us, spirit is there to collaborate with us.
and so it needs some objective to accomplish in some way.
That's a big idea, and so maybe I'll see what you think.
Yeah, no, I'm right there with you.
I mean, I've pulled together a course called the best practices of channeling,
and what comes up over and over again in that is intention.
Okay, so intention, which is focused attention plus our will, right?
And so that's why meditation is really key or some type of mental training because we really need to learn how to work our attention muscle, right?
But then along with that is our will. And so what you'll see throughout the best practices of channeling is directing your intention in very specific ways for a particular overall outcome.
Not that you're prescribing the specific way that that's going to unfold, but just like you said,
okay, you know, my, you know, personal intention in life is to be a channel of divine love, right?
That's my guiding, intentful statement to the universe, if you will.
And so that intention can be applied in many different ways.
And we can dive into that.
But one thing I want to say that's so important that I don't want to forget to say is about the layers of the ego.
Because our channeling is only as clear as our awareness of our human personality and how that interacts with the information coming through.
Say that again.
I mean, it's amazing, but say it again.
So we're humans.
We have a human mind.
We have a human personality that is constructed from our early childhood.
experiences from our beliefs, intergenerational trauma, which we can definitely dive into.
And that is a filter through which we receive our channeled information. And so if we have a lot
of unconscious patterns that we are not aware of, that is going to cloud, obscure what we think
is actually channeled. And it may not be because it's influenced by that filter.
So I'm, you know, very strongly recommend anybody who wants to go on this channeling path
that you have to choose an ego clearing practice that you engage in 100%.
What's an ego clearing practice?
There's so many that are available, you know, psychotherapy, hypnosis, you know, the Hoffman
process.
You got to really get in there.
You got to get in there and say, okay, what are my.
underlying beliefs that motivate me. Or where have I been hurt? And where am I still holding that? What's my,
what are my woundings? What are my unconscious beliefs, et cetera? And so just as a very simple example,
you know, you could set an intention to manifest beneficence in your life, right? Like, that's like a
general intention. Okay. But if you have an underlying belief that I'm not worthy, then that's what's
actually going to manifest.
And that's when people say, it doesn't work.
This is what's fascinating to me when people are like, I've tried meditation, it doesn't
work.
And it's kind of like that's not a thing.
That's like saying, I tried believing in gravity, but it didn't work.
You don't have to believe in it.
Like, it's a thing.
Are you tapping into it?
I feel the same way about God, because that's just sort of me.
Like, I don't need to believe or convince you to believe.
It's just there.
you know, am I turning towards it, right?
Like the hand is out to me.
Am I placing my hand in it, right?
It's just there.
Yeah.
So that piece is so key.
And then I think the other piece that goes along with that is this idea that some people
will put channeled information up on a pedestal or they'll put channelers on a pedestal,
like projecting their authority onto it.
I mean, absolutely.
Yeah, and so how do we shift that dynamic and say, okay, here's just more information coming in.
It's not like I'm going to get rid of my intellect.
My intellect is incredible.
So you want to use the intellect with the intuitive information to discern, hey, is this relevant to me?
Is this useful to me?
Is this actionable?
Do I do something with it instead of, oh, I need to go see the channeler again to figure out what I'm going to do with my life?
or, ooh, the channeler said this,
so it must be true, it must be real,
and now I'm going to wholeheartedly implement that.
Because sometimes you're getting a snapshot in time.
Information changes are,
we take action in the world and the dynamic
that we're interacting with changes.
And so, like, you can't hold on to only one thing
that's being shared.
I've said this before a long time ago.
I saw a woman who was a psychic.
I think I was like in my early 20s and I was setting a path to be a writer.
And she told me you won't start making a living as a writer until you're 34.
And that information was so upsetting to me because I was like working so hard and doing so many other things.
You didn't want to wait another decade.
I didn't want to wait a decade.
I was like, I'm in school.
This is like, couldn't imagine that.
And while I did make money in increments as a writer,
right after my 34th birthday, I moved and took a full-time job as a writer, and that changed the course of my career.
And I was very upset at the time that she told me that because it just felt overwhelming.
And you know what it felt like?
It felt like the veil of the universe had been sliced open, and I peered in, and it was too much information.
And it was really disturbing to me for months.
and I felt defeated and it like it wasn't productive to know that.
And yet when I turned 34 and I got like I had totally forgotten about this woman.
And then I thought back to that session.
I was like, oh no.
That was anyway, it was just, it was too spot on.
I don't like your experiment.
Well, there's a lot of things that, you know, the rationalist in me is, is thinking,
which I guess I guess kind of leads to, you know, a subsequent, you know, question.
of like, I think many people don't know what knowing is.
And I worked with a somatic experiencing therapist, a craniosacral therapist, very, very skilled,
really, really incredible woman.
And some of the exercises we did was literally like she would have me think of a food that I like
versus a food that I don't like.
And just like, I mean, I've functioned as a human being.
I've had two children.
like I've gotten degrees,
but, like, I couldn't figure out, like, how you know something
until, you know, as a grown woman nearing 50 years old,
I had to do these exercises.
She would stand close to me,
and I had to decide if I wanted that or not.
And I think people like Jonathan just, like, go around the world
just like feeling and sensing and intuiting.
And, like, I think many of us, maybe I don't,
I can't be the only one, but many of us are just walking around,
like, what's for lunch?
Like, I'm not feeling into that.
I don't know.
What are some of the things you could tell someone like me who literally is a feeling operating
human who may not know what it is even to know?
Well, first, I just have deep, deep compassion.
I see that.
It's freaking me out.
Why do you look so sad?
It's not sad.
It's compassion because it's not just you.
It's so many people in the West.
I'm missing something?
No, it's.
I think we're broken apart from our,
from a natural knowing.
Well, our culture is so externally focused.
And people right now are just deeply suffering from this fire hydrant of external information
that is pulling them this way and that.
And it's over, it's completely overwhelming.
I mean, how are we supposed to, with our intellect, make any sense of that from the, like,
tiny percent that we actually are able to process and take in?
and you wonder why it's hard to know. I mean, like, we're completely bombarded with information from the
outside. And there's, you know, rarely does someone say, okay, close your eyes, let go of all that.
And what do you feel? Like, it doesn't happen. So I don't think it is any fault of your own. I think it
is a product of our Western culture that's very, very externally focused. And so my goal,
through this book and through the work that we do at ions is to shift that and to look within
for that information, not as the only thing we look at, but it has to be at least equal to, you know,
it's like, okay, here are the facts that I'm gleaning from the outside, and here's what my
internal barometer is sharing with me. What I'm struck by, which I think also is an emotional
concept as well. What I'm struck by is what you're describing, you know, sounds a lot like,
you kind of a state of nature, meaning we're born into this world a blank canvas, right?
Like, no one knows what language we're supposed to speak or what kind of, you know, religious
or cultural programming we're supposed to get. We're just kind of born all the same, right?
We're just like a thing, right? And depending on where we accidentally were born and what that family is,
that determines kind of who we think we become.
But this notion of like what feels good, what's comforting, what's safe.
Like those are the things that as an infant, right, we're sensing without even having language for it.
It's a complete, like for the first three months, like you don't even know that you're outside of the womb.
Like you're just in this space, right?
And then it's all of this other conditioning around it, you know, that makes us who we think we are.
And then people have psychedelic journeys and they feel like, oh my gosh, I don't have an ego.
And I'm like one with the universe and everything is love and beautiful.
But then you have to come back, you know, and what do you bring down, you know, from the mountain?
Yeah.
It's like we're born into this really open, aware space.
And then we get conditioned out of it.
And then we have to do all these things to like uncondition all that, those experiences.
And, you know, I think our human ego supports us in.
functioning, right? Like it obviously has a very strong evolutionary benefit to
keep us, survival and keep us safe. But as we know, you know, stress gone wild is
not good for anybody. We aren't running away from the tiger all the time. And so how do we
learn how to be aware of and manage our fight or flight and tap into other ways of knowing?
Yeah, very powerful. You were going to tell us.
a little bit about some of the tools or exercises someone can do to either tap in or to sort of
maybe do energetic maintenance? Yes. So I really like working with the idea of a chakra system
and which, you know, consists of a number of energy vortices in different parts of your body.
and for channeling, specifically for being overwhelmed by too much kind of intuitive information,
I envision the crown chakra and the third chakra, which is at your solar plexic.
So if you imagine your crown chakra kind of like an aperture of a camera.
And so, and I do this very, very, every single day, multiple times a day, depending on the situation.
So let's say I'm leaving my house and I'm going to go to a party.
So I would make that aperture much smaller.
Is this a visualization?
It is.
Yeah.
And it's an intention.
Right.
But I'm very visual.
Not everybody is.
So I will imagine it mentally as an image in my mind that my crown chakra and my third chakra are actually smaller, if you will.
And then if I want to sit and do an intuition session, then I'll actually open it up.
And then you'll see information coming in.
First of all, this is all fascinating.
Before you go on, we've had Zoom order on and, you know, many others who've talked about
this system.
Can you give us sort of from a clinical perspective what the chakra system is?
Because a lot of people kind of hear energy and they think, woo, woo, but these are actually
concepts that for thousands of years have been part of many traditions. Can you speak a little bit
about what we're actually talking about? Yes, I wish there was more formal research on the
chakra system. And I know especially Margaret Moga and some other researchers have attempted
to kind of validate it with objective measures, but we're still have a hard time trying to measure
these non-physical, subtle energy systems. If you think about our body as one of the best
measurement tools, then we can, and I value that, not all scientists would value our perceptions
that our bodies pick up. But anyway, that's my little caveat. So chakras are energy vortices,
if you will, in different parts of the body. For example, we have one right here in our heart center.
Which I think most people can relate to most kind of colloquially. Yes. And there are many chakras,
but most people speak of seven. And there's one kind of at our perineum that points down into the earth.
And it is a single one, like a funnel that's pointing down. And then you have the crum. And then you have the
crown, which is a single funnel pointing up. And then the rest of the chakras, you know, third
eye, throat, heart, solar plexus, sacroplexus are actually two funnels, one pointing forward and one
pointing back. People forget about the back. They do. Because if you think about the heart chakra,
the way we give love is forward, forward facing, and the way we receive is from the back.
So, you know, ideally they're spitting at a nice speed.
They're nice and clear.
There's no kind of obstacles to that.
And each chakra is understood to represent different parts of the physical body,
different emotions, different colors.
And, you know, especially Eastern science, Eastern technologies have done a lot of work around
characterizing that.
Is that helpful?
Yeah, I think that is helpful.
And I think that, I think the heart one is one that people understand most because
anatomically, right, it's placed like the place where like, you know, when you feel something
in your heart, right?
Like people understand that.
But so many of us who have thyroid conditions have discovered that when you go to a holistic
practitioner or if you go to really anyone outside of a very old school, classic Western
medicine, you know, kind of interpretation.
from an endocrinological perspective,
what they often talk about is what are you not saying?
And, you know, that was kind of the first time
that I started thinking about the chakra system
as having anatomical and physiological emotional components.
I have a friend who's had thyroid cancer twice.
And for her, her life has been characterized by not speaking.
And it's so interesting because you don't
want to believe that you are causing, right, yourself to get cancer. That's not the conversation.
I think that anyone wants to engage in, but the notion being there are places in our body that
will hold. They will hold pain. They will hold trauma. They will hold information. They'll hold
memory. And those correlate in many cases, you know, with these chakras, right? Women who have been
sexually abused often have, right, pain and a variety of medical issues in the region of the body that is
energetically, right, holding these memories, right? So when we think about kind of that system
and we talk about what it means to tap in, I think that's just a helpful framework, so appreciate it.
Yeah, no problem. And the throat, you know, what I learned about the throat, it's also not my will
but thine. And so it's this sort of like controlling, needing or wanting to control things to be a
certain way. As our abilities grow, do we get more kinds of information? Or sometimes you get one
kind of information and then you get another. How do you know when to get your own Netflix special
with your mediumship if your signature might change? Yes. What we've noticed through our studies
is that most people have more than one type of characteristic that shows up for them.
they might have, say, three or four, but one is like much stronger for them than the others.
And so we want to do some follow-up studies that look at, well, does it change over time?
You know, I'm imagining that if you take a remote viewing class, that that, you know,
characteristic is going to improve for you.
You may not be the superstar, but it may get a little bit better.
And then people who are further on this kind of channeling journey and feel like, well, I've really explored telepathy, but I really want to explore precognition. Let me dive into that and, you know, see if I can get some training in that. People practice lucid dreaming.
Exactly. And so that was the one characteristic I forgot to talk about, which is dreams. So the 12th characteristic of the noetic signature is getting noetic information from dreams.
And so that one's also unique characteristic because it's not a specific type.
It's a specific state that you're in when the noetic information comes in because it could be telepathic or precognitive or something totally different.
And so our most recent noetic signature study found that dreams was actually the only characteristic that was that kind of separated people out.
Either you're a dreamer or you're not a dreamer.
So I'm not a dreamer, but there's some people who only get noetic information.
I know.
Get noetic information from their dreams, which is really fascinating.
Are these dreams predictive?
They can be.
So they're just that you get noetic information from your dream, and you may have a precognitive dream.
Where do you get your noetic information?
I get it while I'm awake.
So part of me wonders if people who kind of don't allow this information to show up in their daily life, when they're asleep, you know, the ego's down regulated. There's not as many kind of conscious barriers to noetic information. And so maybe it allows them to show up in the dream rather than the waking state. I'm thinking about nightmares, you know, and a lot of also sensitive and intuitive people are often plagued by.
complicated, you know, graphic nightmares. So also like, is that a knowing or is that other
information being processed, right? You have to be able to distinguish. And so you could set
intentions before you go to sleep that, hey, I'm not going to pick any other people's energies up.
And let's close the apertures down and have a nice restful sleep. If it is picking up, you know,
other people's stuff that you don't necessarily want.
We're going to hit pause here, but you do not want to miss.
part two of our conversation with Dr. Wabe. We're going to be talking about people's abilities to
channel as it relates to some of the most recent research in UAPs. We'll talk about energy healing,
what is actually going on, and how has Dr. Wabe's research team found ways to try and qualify
and quantify what's happening with energy healing. We also talk about noedic signatures,
the unique way each of us receive intuitive information. And once and for all, Jonathan and I tell
our origin story to probably the most qualified person who can inform us as to whether it was telepathy,
inception, or something else.
We also talk about exorcisms and the idea that dark energies that are trapped here on Earth
may attach themselves to individuals and how to remove them.
All that and so much more in part two of our conversation with Dr. Wabe.
From our breakdown to the one we hope you never have.
We'll see you next time.
