Meditation Mountain - Awareness Meditation ~ How to be Present in the Moment

Episode Date: March 16, 2021

During this 20 minute guided meditation for awareness we'll be focusing on how to be present in the moment. Use this meditation to develop mindfulness to help you become more present and enjoy life in... the moment every single day. We all want to live in the moment, but our minds cause us to overthink, stress out and pull us in a thousand different directions most of the time throughout the day. But if we can learn to become more mindful through the use of awareness meditation then we can focus on loving and enjoying the moment we're in whatever it may be every day. Guided meditation is all about being present. Meditation in general helps us with mindfulness. Therefore if we want to live in the moment more and more then developing out ability to be present and be more mindful are keys to achieving this. Even though this is only a short meditation of 20 minutes, doing it regularly day by day will help develop and condition our minds to focus on the present moment we are experiencing.  Here we have lots of different meditations on a wide range of topics. But they all come back down to one topic. Being present. This is the start of all meditations and the key to getting the most out of them. If we can learn how to be present then not only can we get the most out of our meditations but we can start to really focus on what's happening within our own lives. Being present increases our awareness of ourselves, others and whatever situation we're in at the time. It helps us to limit overthinking as well as calming our minds from running away and making us anxious, stressed or even depressed. If you are present then it's easier to show love, gratitude and kindness because all we're focusing on is the present moment. Practicing this in our daily lives outside of just this meditation is key to controlling our own minds and living with peace and calm in our head and hearts. Learn more about your ad choices. When we do this, we lose sight of today, and we rob ourselves and others of the chance to be. to fully embrace the day and possibly make a lasting memory.
Starting point is 00:01:24 Today. We'll learn how to appreciate today. You will become more aware of all of your senses, and how they help you to be more present. Now that you are comfortable, close your eyes, eyes and take in a nice, deep breath. Breathe in through your nose and out through your mouth. Do this slowly at a nice pace.
Starting point is 00:02:24 As you breathe, you will begin to relax. Just sit there and think about how relax. you are starting to feel. As you take your next breath, I want you to relax your scalp. Feel the hair follicles, relax. Become aware of their placement and let all tension melt away. Take this feeling down to your ears and let them relax. Now, relax your forehead. Let your facial muscles relax and lose tension.

All the tension leaves your body with each breath you breathe out. The feeling of peace and relaxation will continue to spread into your chest. And then wrap around to your upper back and shoulder blades. Your muscles loosen up and feel light, and you breathe at a steady pace. As you focus on your breath, this feeling carries down around your back and wraps again around your stomach area.
Starting point is 00:05:36 Each breath you take in allows you to become more calm, more comfortable, and more at peace. This feeling follows on down to your hips and pelvis and down. onto your thighs. As you breathe, you feel your muscles relax, and your knee joints feel light, with no tension. Your lower legs, around your calf and shin, are free of any stress, and the tension is gone. feel relaxation, pass onto the ankles and each of your feet. Just let them come in. Acknowledge their existence. And let them fade right back out.
Starting point is 00:08:53 Just keep focusing on the feeling of drifting. And the feeling of being light and airy. You are doing a wonderful job of focusing on your relaxed state. Many times, we rush through our morning routine
Starting point is 00:13:25 and skip right over how amazing the simplest of smells are. Do this each and every time you cook as well. Beyond food and drink, be observant of your environmental smells to hug your spouse and take in their scent. Feel the comfort of the familiarity. And instead of a quick hello and goodbye, embrace them. Take all of them in. Take this to a higher level when you go outside. Close your eyes and smell the world around you.
Starting point is 00:14:41 Is it airy and crisp? Do you smell the wood burning in a nearby fireplace? What do you smell? The same goes for taste. Slow down when you are. eating anything. Take the time to let your taste buds explore each morsel and see if you can identify key note ingredients. What do you taste? The things that we touch often go unnoticed for days and days. The feeling of that new fluffy sweatshirt, the warmth of your mug in the morning.
Starting point is 00:16:06 Let the warmth really penetrate your hands, the feeling of your pet's fur, as you guide your hand from head to tail. Feel it. Feel the paper that. Feel the paper that. you touch when you read a book is it made from quality paper feeling happens with more than just your hands put your bare feet directly on the earth you feel more than just soil or grass do you feel a deeper vibration what do you feel? One of the most powerful senses. Take in everything you see. Do the clouds look different today?
Starting point is 00:17:47 Do your children have a special sparkle in their eyes when they see you? Observe everything. Sit in your favorite room at the start of the day or the end. and see why it makes you feel the way that it does. Is it the style of room, the furniture, the decor you see?
