When most people hear the word Sardinia, they picture turquoise water, white sandy beaches, and one of the most beautiful islands in the Mediterranean.

But travel inland away from the resorts and the modern towns, and a completely different Sardinia begins to emerge. Across this island are thousands upon thousands of mysterious prehistoric stone towers. There are massive tombs that the locals even reach. refer to as the tombs of the giants. There are very large statues with strange humanoid features and circular eyes, and perhaps the strangest of all, an ancient, subterranean sacred will, precision crafted from perfectly fitted basalt blocks that's aligned with celestial events in ways that researchers are still trying to understand. And all of this was created by a mysterious civilization that left us virtually no written explanation of who they were.

Archaeologists often refer to them as the neurologic civilization from circa 2,700 BC. But that isn't necessarily what they called themselves. And now we are going to ask an even bigger question. Who were the mysterious builders? engineers really, of ancient Sardinia. And are we looking at the surviving fingerprints of a lost civilization whose true importance in the ancient Mediterranean has been lost? Now today on the island of Sardinia, there are still more than 7,000 structures. known as Naraji's. And again, these are these mysterious megalithic towers. And some of them rise as high as a hundred feet tall. And thousands upon thousands of years ago, even more existed than the 7,000. And these are unique to Sardinia. There really isn't anything exactly

like them anywhere else in the ancient world. Now, the classic Naraji tower usually has a truncated stone tower. Some are relatively simple. Others become these sprawling complexes containing multiple towers, courtyards, corridors, staircases, surrounding villages, and enormous defensive walls. And they were all constructed without mortar. Massive blocks of basalt, even granite, and other local stone were carefully a quarried, cut and positioned upon one another. while interior chambers were covered by these beautiful, amazing, corbled or false domes created by gradually bringing each successive course of stone inward. UNESCO describes these niraghi towers as a form of architecture with no direct parallel

elsewhere in the world. And one of the greatest examples is a site known as Sue Noroxi at Baramuni on of the island of Sardinia. And this tower has a central tower that originally stood over like 60 feet tall, and it contains these three massive chambers connected by a spiral staircase built within the thickness of the wall. Four additional towers surrounded the central key. Massive walls connected everything together. Then an entire settlement developed around it.

So what was the original intended purpose of these structures? Were they fortresses? Were they more temples? Were they watch towers? Were they astronomical observatories? Were they political centers? The answer may actually be all of the above, depending upon the structure and the period in which it was used. And that's part of the mystery.

We're dealing with an ancient civilization capable of a, Again, quarrying, cutting, moving, multi-ton blocks, engineering internal staircases in these incredible, curbled chambers, and repeating variations of this architectural engineering idea thousands upon thousands of times across the entire island. Yet they left behind no surviving historical text explaining the system that we know of. Now, were these mysterious neurologic engineers connected to the sea peoples referenced in other parts of the world? And this is where Sardinia begins connecting with a much larger ancient mystery. You see, during what archaeology calls the late Bronze Age around the 13th to 12th centuries BC, civilizations across the eastern Mediterranean entered a period of catastrophic disruption. The Mycenaan palace system collapsed. The Hittite Empire disappeared. Cities were burned and abandoned.

Egypt came under attack by mysterious groups that Egyptian inscriptions collectively often referred to as the sea peoples. And among them were warriors known as the Sheridan or Shardana. And for more than a century, researchers have asked some intriguing questions, such as wore the Sheridan actually Sardinians. The similarity between the names Sheridan and Sardinia is one clue. Now, this does not prove they were exactly the same people, but the question becomes more interesting because archaeology now demonstrates that neurogic sardinians were anything but some isolated islanders. Genuine Sardinian pottery dating to the 13th century BC has been scientifically identified on Cyprus, more than a thousand miles across the Mediterranean. Neurogic objects and artifacts, and again pottery have also appeared around other parts

of the Mediterranean world. The ancient Sardinians possessed valuable copper, lead, and other resources, and sat directly along major east-west maritime routes. These ancients knew the sea. They traded across it, and at least some Sardinians were apparently capable of traveling extraordinary distances during the exact period when these sea peoples were moving around the Mediterranean. Some archaeologists therefore support a connection between the Sherdens and the Narogic

Sardinians. But either way, one thing is becoming difficult to deny. Prehistoric Sardinia was much more connected to the wider ancient world than the image of an isolated island civilization would suggest. Now we come to one of Sardinia's strangest archaeological discoveries. In March of 1974, a farmer near the village of Cabras was plowing a field at this area known as Monte Prama when fragments of carved sandstone begin appearing from the earth. Now excavations soon followed. An archaeologists eventually realized that that they were reconstructing something unprecedented.

These were dozens of huge-looking humanoid statues. Today, they are often referred to as the giants of Monte Prama. Now, these surviving statues stand approximately eight feet tall. And nothing comparable from this period had previously been really known in Sardinia. And when you look at these strange statues, they depict what looks like warriors, archers, boxers.

Some of them carry enormous shields. Others possess elaborate armor and weaponry. But perhaps their strangest feature is their faces. As you can see, their heads and even their noses form very rigid shapes, almost geometric shapes. Their eyes consist of like two perfectly carved concentric circles. And their result is almost otherworldly, very humanoid hybrid looking, if you will. So this begs the question, who exactly are we looking at? Who are these statues originally meant to depict?

Just some fierce warriors, heroes, gods, elite members, of neurotic society, or as we're going to get into all the giant legends of the island, are these possibly depicting some kind of eight-plus foot-tall humanoids on the island that some would refer to as giants? Now here's another important detail regarding these statues. Guess what was discovered alongside some of them. What appeared to be like stone-cut models of the giant Neuroji towers, but on a small model size. Very interesting.

And the models themselves preserve architectural features no longer even visible on many of the actual massive ruined towers. Okay, and so this leads me to some other thoughts and questions. So we've got these eight plus foot tall statues. We've got these giant towers. We're going to be talking about the tombs of the giants next. Are they all interconnected?

Were the tombs that we're going to talk about built for these humanoid 8 plus foot tall hybrids that once roamed the island? Were they basically the ruling elite of the island? And then did they also build the megalithic towers? So it's almost as if these ancients of Monte Prama on Sardinia, deliberately memorializing two things. This ancient elite class of humanoids or giants, whatever you want to call them, and their monumental architecture. It's like they were telling anyone who entered the island, this is who we are. These are our heroes. These towers belong to us. All right. And now let's talk about the tombs of the giants. So the Sardinian connection with

Giants goes considerably deeper than just a group of eight plus foot tall statues and megalithic towers, as I've mentioned, because scattered across the island are some 800, enormous, massive bronze age funerary monuments traditionally called the Tomba de Gigante, or the tombs of the giants. and some of these extend approximately 100 feet in length. At the front of many of these structures is an enormous semi-circular facade called an exudru. And in some tombs, a gigantic central stone rises more than 13 feet into the air and weighs more than 7 tons. Now behind the circular exudru facade runs the long burial chamber constructed, again of

massive blocks and stones. And originally many of these structures were covered by earth and stone. Now seen from above, their shape has traditionally been compared with horns in the head of a bowl. Another interpretation sees the shape as like the legs and a body of a woman giving birth. So transforming the monument into like a symbol of death followed by rebirth. Now, mainstream archaeologists would mostly identify these structures as like collective communal tombs used by the ancient Neurogic beginning during the Bronze Age, where multiple individuals would be buried inside.

But again, the locals refer to these structures as the tombs of the giants, which is very interesting. And when you begin to really dive deep into the legends and folklore of the neurologic civilizations and Sardinia, it's openly talking about giants and how these graves contained giants. There's even some 19th century Sardinian historical accounts you can find that record people who claimed unusually large of bones that had been discovered near some of these monuments. In fact, researcher Timothy Alberino, who I've done several interviews with on my podcast here, he visited Sardinia years ago, and he recorded stories from some of the local residents, claiming that unusually large skeletons had occasionally been encountered and found around these ancient tombs and found inside of them, and that authorities removed the remains after the discoveries.

became known. So we have two separate things going on here. We've got archaeologies saying these were just communal burial monuments, and then we've got folklore, and even some living witnesses saying these were tombs of the giants, or at least eight plus foot tall humanoids or entities, if you want to call them that. And the gap between these two things is precise. precisely where the mystery lives. Why did generations of Sardinians associate these monuments

with very large entities or beings? Is it simply because the architecture is huge when we're talking about the towers and these tombs? Or were those legends preserving something older?

Something far more mysterious. Now let's consider another Sardinian tradition. Did you know that every year in the town of Otana on Sardinia, people take part in one of the strangest carnival celebrations in Europe, where men cover themselves in heavy sheepskins, somewhere grotesque wooden masks of creatures. Others dress up as horned-like animal figures with huge cowbills hanging from their bodies. Now, visually, this tradition is extraordinary, and I believe it goes back at least a thousand years. And it's as if the locals living today in modern times are keeping the legends alive by dressing up as these creatures, these chimeras, these giants and hybrids of old. The imagery preserves a world in which the boundary between human, animal, and the supernatural appears remarkably thin.

And considering how prominent the bull imagery and the giant imagery seems to be throughout prehistoric Sardinia, it raises intriguing questions about just how ancient the symbolic roots of these rituals may be. Now, in closing, last but certainly not least, because I saved the best for last purposely here. We arrive at what may be Sardinia's greatest ancient, architectural engineering mystery. Now, near the modern local Catholic parish known as Santa Cristina lies an ancient prehistoric subterranean monument that was engineered. at least 3,000 years ago, probably older, in my humble opinion. And it's referred to as the sacred will of Santa Christina, really only because of its proximity to this local Catholic church.

And it is the grandest of at least 50 sacred megalithic wells, again attributed to the mysterious neurologic civilization. Now, when you see this structure from a bird's eye view or from a drone, it's mind-blowing because it's like this gaping trapezoid cut deep into the ground. And as you approach it from above, you see how these perfectly geometric trapezoidal staircases descend deep into darkness. There's exactly 25 stone steps that lead downward into this underground chamber. and the walls narrow as you descend.

But what's crazy is as you're going down the steps and you look up, the ceiling appears to mirror the very steps beneath you, creating this bizarre optical effect of an inverted staircase. And then you enter the underground layer or chamber. Now from the bottom, when you look up, you see this beautifully constructed, precision, corbled tholos dome made from these concentric rings of basalt. At the top is a circular opening towards the sky.

Below is water fed continuously by a natural underground spring. The level remains remarkably stable throughout the year. Again, the precision masonry is just extraordinary. The basalt blocks have been shaped and assembled into these clean geometric surfaces that are so precision, it literally looks modern. Yet the most mysterious feature may involve the sky, because around the equinox events, sunlight travels down the staircase and reaches deep inside the well. And researchers have investigated another far stranger phenomenon involving the moon. Every 18.6 years, the moon reaches what astronomers call a major lunar standstill.

Research into Santa Christina has proposed that during this cycle, moonlight could enter through the opening above the underground chamber and reach the surface of the water. A published Archaeoastronomical study

concluded that the structure could potentially have function as an instrument capable of measuring lunar declination during part of this 18.61 year cycle. So let's think about what this might mean. The engineers may not simply have constructed an underground water temple. They may have combined hydrology, stone engineering, geometry, light, and astronomical observation. The well becomes a meeting place between the underworld,

the water, and the heavens, where the ancients watching the moon reflected. in the sacred water. And once again, this stone is telling us that whoever designed this structure possessed knowledge, we are still attempting to replicate and reconstruct

in the year 2026. So let's not let this archaeological term of Bronze Age influenced to think this was some kind of just, you know, ancient, inferior culture who stacked blocks and made towers.

As we can see, especially from the well of Santa Christina, they had some kind of lost knowledge, some kind of ancient technology to engineer something so fabulous. These surviving ruins we see are just fragments. So many of the towers collapsed. Metal objects were likely melted down. Sacred tradition.

changed and whatever language these mysterious neurotic ancients spoke left us virtually no readable literature the civilization vanished yet the stones remain or the legends of giants simply inspired by the monumental architecture or do they preserve a distorted memory of something we have yet to fully understand.
