Starting point is 00:00:30 Ha ha, laugh, funny, Mention It All, a Bravo by Betches podcast. We don't say that, but now we said it with Dylan Hafer. We'll go check me, though. Hey, everyone. Welcome back to the Mention at All podcast. I'm Dylan Hafer, and we made it to another Friday. I still feel like I have been reeling and recovering from Teresa's wedding this whole week.
Starting point is 00:00:58 I'm still thinking about the hair. I'm still thinking about the veil. I'm still thinking about Melissa Gorga's podcast episode where she kind of made it sound like maybe they were thinking about stepping away from Real Housewives of New Jersey, but then she posted an Instagram story saying that this is, in fact, not the case. She said, people are taking pieces from my podcast and assuming I'm leaving the show. Quote, this is how rumors get started. I don't know why that's in quotation marks. I never said I was leaving the show. I was just clarifying how we felt after a difficult weekend.
Starting point is 00:01:34 We have no plans on leaving. Hashtag R.H.O. and J. Did we really think Melissa and Joe were walking away from housewives? I like Melissa a lot. I'm a fan of Melissa. If you, you know, whatever. If you don't want to hear it, it's fine. But Mama loves being on TV.
Starting point is 00:01:56 Joey loves being on TV. You know, also, they just finished filming a season. So it would be like weird timing right now to be like, yeah, we're walking away from Housewives. It's like, okay, in a year maybe. But like, there's a whole season in the can. So no, Melissa and Joe are not leaving Housewives. But, you know, all of this has made me more excited for next season of New Jersey, which I didn't even know was possible. So can't wait for, you know, four to six months for, you know, four to six months for. now when we have that to watch. But of course, it's a Friday episode. So that means we're here mainly to talk about Southern Charm and talk about it. We will. I will. Let's get into it. This episode, Jesus Christ, I feel like I have, for the most part, really been enjoying this season. There have been a little bit of ups and downs. But overall, I've been like strapped in, ready to go. These people have been giving me headaches every week, but overall, I've been happy to be here. You guys, why is this entire episode framed around this dog wedding? The first, we, you know, we pick up
Starting point is 00:03:09 where we left off with Patricia, meeting with the planner. And then the whole episode is the week leading up to the wedding, Monday, Wednesday, Friday. And then we get to Saturday, and they split it up into like five parts and we've got quotes from Oscar Wild and Clint Eastwood and it's like, do they think we care this much? Does not not the people. The cast is doing their thing. Do the producers and the editors of Southern Charm think that we care this much about Peaches and Little Craig getting married?
Starting point is 00:03:47 That's a genuine question. I'd like an answer. If you're listening to this and you're involved with the behind the scenes of Southern Charm, Do you think we give a fuck about this dog wedding? Because the way this is edited together, it feels like they think this is like the piesta resistance of the season, of the entire show, maybe. And it's like, I couldn't give one single shit about this dog wedding. If it was the last event to look forward to on the planet, I would be like, maybe I'll go.
Starting point is 00:04:22 I'll wear a polo shirt. I'm not putting on like a suit and tie. Uh-uh. But, I mean, in Charleston, this is, uh, the, you know, the event of the season, I guess. Madison, see, these people are all the same, too. How many years have I been watching, like, Craig and Austin? I still get the, get them confused. Madison and Austin are the maid of honor and best man respectively, which that I will say.
Starting point is 00:04:50 It's a good, a nice touch from the producers, whoever came up. with that plan. Austin is really, he's going through it a little bit. He still feels some type of way about the Madison situation. And then meanwhile, he's got his will they, won't they think, going with Olivia, who has chosen to attend the aforementioned dog wedding with another date, who is Shep's cousin, Marcy's friend, Zach, whose name Olivia can't even remember. in the confessional, which tells you a lot about, I don't want to say how fake this storyline is, but I just think how finessed it has been. There's a producer's touch at work here, and I'm not mad about it, but, you know, Olivia doesn't give us shit about this man. Like, this man is not
Starting point is 00:05:41 on her radar. She's not interested in him. She's not, like, she doesn't want to hook up with him even. I don't think he's her type. I think this is purely, like, well, I'm on the show now, so obviously like I gotta be a little bit messy. And respect to her, I, yeah, I mean, she's playing the game. Somebody's got to do it. Girl, winter is so last season. And now Springs got you looking at pictures of tank tops with hungry eyes. Your algorithm is feeding you cutoffs. You're thirsty for the sun on your shoulders. That perfect hang on the patio sundress. Those sandals you can wear all day and all night. And you've had enough of shopping from your couch. Done hoping it looks.
Starting point is 00:06:23 anything like the picture when you tear up on that envelope? It's time for a little in-person spring treat. It's time for a trip to Ross. Work your magic. So Olivia and Zach are at the wedding. Austin is there acting weird around Madison. Craig shows up with Paige. So then Naomi feels weird because Craig has been acting weird to her. I feel for Naomi in this situation because I think it is a a weird situation with Craig. They obviously had this long relationship and then things went bad, but then they reconnected. They hooked up. We know recently a couple times. And I think the problem is that Craig has this set of boundaries that he thinks Naomi should be abiding by. But I don't think he ever actually made those clear. So when Naomi at the perception is like, Craig, can we talk for a second?
Starting point is 00:07:20 I think she has valid things she wants to bring up with him. And his thought process is like, why is she not respecting boundaries? And it's like, because you, if those are the boundaries, you need to say it. Naomi is allowed to have a different idea of what your relationship is than you. People have, you know, independent thinkers. We have free will and minds running wild. but if you have a different plan and you want this to go a different way, you might just need to say that. And I think Craig, because of the way that Paige has, you know, he's getting clear communication from Paige.
Starting point is 00:08:03 So he thinks that that should just be like automatically understood by Naomi and like, sorry, it's not that easy. You got to say it. And then I think when they do sit down, he just handles it really poorly, you know, because she's, saying, hey, if it's awkward for you, that's okay. I know it was awkward for me when I was dating Mattool, and I didn't want to, and he was like, well, well, whoa, whoa, well, yeah, no, compare our two situations. Not comparable. You were in a loving relationship that you left to date a douchebag who was going to cheat on you and leave you brokenhearted. And meanwhile, I moved on. And now I'm dating someone amazing, someone incredible, someone hot, who wants to be with me.
Starting point is 00:08:48 So don't you ever get it twisted and think that you can compare our two situations, Missy, I paraphrase. But it's like, I don't know why Craig is so frustrated with Naomi. It's like, this is a simple conversation. She is confused. She is trying to navigate this relationship. And all it would take from Craig is to say, hey, I have a really good thing. going with page right now. I just think in the interest of keeping that as solid as possible,
Starting point is 00:09:23 I think you and I should not really have this kind of friendship or this kind of communication. Naomi might not like that, but at the very least, she would know. You would be on the same page at that point. And I think Craig, for whatever reason, is just taking it to this place of conflict. And I don't think, I don't think Naomi wants conflict with him. So it's, It's frustrating to watch Craig kind of take it to this place again where I just think he's making it into a more negative interaction than it needs to be. And I feel bad for Naomi, because I think Naomi is just trying. She still is getting her feet under her back in Charleston, and I think Craig is making it harder than it needs to be. But then Paige tells Austin that their girl, Sierra, is in town, sleeping on Craig's couch.
Starting point is 00:10:16 and Austin's face. I know Austin's going through it a little bit. Olivia's acting weird. Things with Madison aren't good. His face, when he finds out that Sierra is in the same state as him, the man looks sad and desperate. I feel like he would crawl over broken glass for an ounce of affection right now. And, you know, I can relate sometimes. Nothing wrong with, you know, wanting a little love in. But it's like, oh, you know, you know, You got to get your shit together. When Shep is telling you you should go to therapy, oh, baby, it's bleak. It is, I mean, let's be real.
Starting point is 00:11:02 All of these people should probably be going to therapy. But if Shep is the one that has the presence of mine to say that you specifically need the therapy, run for the hills, Mama. Oh, my God. I hope Sierra stayed miles away. She doesn't need that energy. nobody needs that energy. So in short, I hope Austin goes to therapy.
Starting point is 00:11:26 I hope Craig lets up on Naomi. I hope the Southern Charm producers and editors find some better material for next week. Because goddamn this dog wedding. I just can't. Catherine wasn't there. She's not invited. So we get to look forward to her and Caleb's, you know, bullshit parade again next week. Shep is still acting like Taylor has, you know, no timeline to get married. That's funny.
