Starting point is 00:00:41 We're going to check me both Hey everyone, welcome back to the Mention at All podcast We have made it to the end of this week It's been a fun week on Mention It All We've had two great episodes, two great guests If you haven't listened
Starting point is 00:00:56 Go check out I had Ben Mandelker on Tuesday's episode Because I was traveling Monday We talked about the Real Houseways of New Jersey finale If you're not familiar, Ben is the iconic host of the Watch What Crapins podcast. So make sure to go listen to that. And then Emily Simpson was on the show on Wednesday talking all things, Real House of Orange County.
Starting point is 00:01:14 And speaking of Real House of Orange County, we have got a new episode to talk about today. And things are getting a spicy. I have a lot of notes. I'm ready to talk about it. And I'm excited to get into it. But first, we have some other stuff to get to. There is a page six report about a new reality show that is being filmed that I'm excited to dig into. And then I also want to talk about, I, uh, I had the chance.
Starting point is 00:01:38 I mentioned it briefly on the episode with Ben to go to the new Bravo Diamonds and Rosea experience, which is happening right now in New York and L.A. until October. It's like a cocktail restaurant. I don't know, kind of vibes. So we'll talk about that. First, I just have to mention earlier this week. So I, um, I like going to the movies. I go to the movies a lot. If you, if you follow me on my personal Instagram. I'm always at the movies. I'm always seeing something. So Tuesday night, I had just made a random plan to go see this movie, D.D., which is a great movie. It's like a coming-of-age story set in 2008 about this Taiwanese-American eighth-grade boy. It's very good. That's not what we're here to talk about. But so I was like walking to my AMC theater in the
Starting point is 00:02:26 Upper West Side in New York, and I am like a block away. And I see the things. there's a hubbub. There's a commotion. There's, um, this theater, the Lincoln Square AMC. If you're, if you're in New York, you know, they often do premieres and special events and stuff there. I've, I've been there for events, but I also just go there all the time to see movie. So I'm like, okay, what is this? It's the premiere for it ends with us. This new Blake Lively movie, based on the Colleen Hoover book, we're not going to get into it. But I'm like, okay, interesting. They have the, the red carpet is like in a covered tent. It was supposed to rain. So there's like a plasticy covering on the side of the tent that faces the sidewalk. And so I'm like,
Starting point is 00:03:07 okay, I'm going to walk past. I'm just going to like see if there's anybody on the carpet that's like interesting. And, you know, it's like, it's like fun to spot a celeb. And who do I, who do I see? The first person my eye goes to Bethany Frankel. She is there in this like tight pink dress. Her tautas are looking good. She's, she's, her, her, face is looking very, she kind of looked like face-tuned, but in real life, I don't know if it was like the plastic through the plastic that I was seeing her that made her look a little bit catish, I would say, but Bethany, in real life, that is actually the first time I have laid eyes on Bethany in the flesh. But yeah, so then I went and saw my movie, and then the next day
Starting point is 00:03:51 I see Bethany has this like series of Instagram stories, just a saga of after she had walked the red carpet for it ends with us. There was like an hour between then and when the movie was starting, which that tells you, that tells you kind of where you are in the, in the pecking order. If your time slot to walk the red carpet is an hour before the movie is going to start, look, I'm not saying that I'm, you know, walking the carpet with Blake and Ryan. If I was invited, I wasn't even invited. But Bethany had time to kill. And so she, it was like by this point pouring rain on a Tuesday night in New York. It was raining so fucking hard. And she was going to try and find a margarita in between. And it's just the saga of her like trying not to get her hair
Starting point is 00:04:36 wet. And then she's taking a photo with a paparazzi. It was very chaotic, classic Bethany. But I was like, wow, I saw her right before that. But anyway, Diamonds and Rose experience. It was, it was cool. I got to go. They had like a opening night party. So I didn't like sit down and have the full. I didn't eat anything. There were, there were like some hors d'oeuvres, but they have a full menu of like Bravo themed foods, Bravo themed cocktails. The cocktail I was drinking was called the That's My Opinion and it was quite yummy. It had, it was sort of like an orange wine spritzer kind of thing. But this space, there's one in New York and one in L.A. I assume the one in L.A. is cool too. But they've taken like an existing cocktail bar kind of space and just like Bravo the fuck out
Starting point is 00:05:21 of it. Like there are, there are photos. opportunities, there's signage before you even get in the door. There's like, you know, quotes and stuff printed on the walls. There's neon signs. There's, you know, little iconic, like, trinkets and Bravo things behind the bar. There's like a my hand and yours wind chime behind the bar. And the Shotsky is there. The bunny is there. It's kind of like a little mini, like, Bravo, not like BravoCon, but like Bravo Museum space. We always talk about, I wish there was like a sports bar where you could just go and watch Bravo. This is like a sports bar that's like Bravo ate the bar. Like it's all there. There's like a giant rotating diamond that you can sit inside of and take
Starting point is 00:06:04 pictures. It was fun. It was cool. I definitely recommend if you're going to be a New York or L.A. between now and October when this closes, it's fun. You can make a reservation. The company that they partnered with to do it is called bucket listers. So if you look up Bravo, Diamonds and Rose experience, go to the bucket lister's website and they're doing like, you can reserve to go just like do cocktails in the evening, I guess, or on the weekends they're doing brunch. I think on Sundays there's a drag brunch,
Starting point is 00:06:32 which sounds like it would actually be really fun. Like, is it going to be like a Lisa Rina, drag impersonator kind of situation? Maybe I'll have to go back because I do feel like I, I didn't get that full experience. But it was really cool. And I'm glad they're doing stuff like this.
Starting point is 00:06:47 We mentioned earlier in the week they're doing this Bravo fan fest in Miami and November. tickets go on sale for that. I think tomorrow, today, Friday, whenever you're listening to this. So there's no BravoCon this year, but they're getting creative with how to kind of get the fans involved. And I think that is, it's fun. Even if you can't make it to all of it or any of it, it's nice to see that they're kind of like, you know, trying different things, giving people opportunities to get in on the action. But speaking of the action, they are reportedly filming a pilot for a new reality show in Palm Beach, in Florida. And so page six reports that this is being put together by purveyors of pop, which is the same production company that does Real Housewives of Miami and married to medicine, and that the
Starting point is 00:07:31 working title of this show is called Snowbirds. Now, first of all, I just have like one little bone to pick. I feel like every week there's a new thing that makes me wonder why Real Housewives of Miami isn't filming yet. I'm not going to talk about the photos of Marcus Jordan that have been circulating because I don't really want to get sued. But, you know, if you know, you know. But purveyors of pop, this show sounds exciting. We'll get into the reported details. But why are you focusing your efforts on Palm Beach when we need you to focus your efforts on Miami? Get your ass down to the 305 and pick up Andy and the cameras and film the season. Make the new pilot later. I just, it continues to baffle me, but I don't want to beat a dead
Starting point is 00:08:17 course. So let's talk about Snowbirds' working title. So reportedly, this is all according to page six. They have a few different sources that they talk to. So who knows if all of this is exactly true. But you know, yada, yada, yada, allegedly. So this is reportedly not a housewives show. And it's described in this article as more of like a real life version of Palm Royale, which I don't know how many of you watched Palm Royale. I watched Palm Royal. It's an Apple TV Plus show. that came out this spring. It was renewed for a second season. It has, the cast is crazy. It's like Kristen Wigg, Laura Dern, Alison Janney, Carol Burnett is in this show. Ricky Martin is in this show. Just like a crazy cast. It was a fun show, but I'm really confused how this is supposed to be a real life version of that,
Starting point is 00:09:09 because first of all, that show takes place in the 1960s. I don't think they're like going back in time to film a reality show in Palm Beach, whatever. But also, this show is. is like people are like plotting to murder each other. There's guns. There's drugs. There's, you know, like old people getting carted off. Like it's very dramatic in a way that I'm like, I don't think, I don't think this like cast of socialites that I'm about to read through
Starting point is 00:09:35 is really going to be like down in the dirt the same way that Kristen Wigg and, you know, Alice and Janie are in Palm Royale. I mean, if you've, it's a fun show. I recommend it. It's a good time. But I just am a little confused about this description. But here is who we are looking at in the cast. And this is, you know, I have a little bullet point about each person, but I'm sure they all contain multitudes.
Starting point is 00:09:57 So there first is Sharon Bush, who is, they're all socialites, by the way. So like that goes without saying. But Sharon Bush is the ex-wife of Neil Bush, who is the son of George H.W. Bush and the brother of George W. Bush. So I don't know how connected she is with the family anymore, but I'm sure she will talk all about it. on the show. Anna Rothschild, who is a society publicist. Is that like of the Rothschilds? Does that mean we're getting Nikki Hilton? I don't know. I can't get there. So Cindy Geyer, who is described in this article as a romance novel cover model. Okay. Is that a job anymore? Like I know we had like Fabio in like the 80s, 90s. How old is Fabio? He's got to be like getting up there.
Starting point is 00:10:46 There was that movie with Sandra Bullock and Channing Tatum, the Lost City, where Channing Tatum was like a romance cover novel. Romance novel cover model. Say that three times fast. I don't know. Gail Brophy, who is described as an entrepreneur and I was like, what does that mean? I need to do a Google.
Starting point is 00:11:03 Gail Brofie, she owns a horse that won the Kentucky Derby one year. That tells you she's rich. And she also owns two upstate New York estates that are event venues you can rent out, I'm sure really affordable. Jane Shear, who is described as the mother of socialite Libby Mugrabi. Libby is one of those people that, like, I've heard her name. She's in page six constantly, like daily mail kind of vibes. Couldn't tell you three things about her.
Starting point is 00:11:28 But apparently her mom is going to be on this show. And apparently the funnier part, according to the sources from page six, is that Jane Cher is like trying to convince her daughter to come do the show with her. And she's not going to. Would love to know more about that. But then the real interesting part of this is that there is a gay couple, Guy Clark and Harrison Morgan, who are also supposed to be on the cast. And this is a description that I found from an article in Palm Beach Illustrated from 2020. So Harrison Morgan is a jewelry designer.
Starting point is 00:11:59 And it says, quote, five years ago, he made Palm Beach his primary residence at last and married interior designer Guy Clark. Together, they enjoy exploring Europe and visiting their lake house in upstate New York. like that is just the most like rich person sentence you could read like what are their enjoy what do exploring Europe visiting their other property like this show I feel like this is something that could have potential but also this kind of sounds like something they should have done in 2010 like all of these people are of a certain age and of a certain like something like something status, like they all just kind of give Ramona singer. And while Ramona has given us a decade plus of wild and iconic TV moments, I think most of us feel like we don't actually
Starting point is 00:12:53 need like the 2024 version of Ramona. Like we don't, especially if Ramona was somebody that hadn't been discovered in 2008, like, I don't need the Ramona singers of the world to suddenly have a TV show that I'm supposed to watch. Like, I just, it's, I'll say it. It's giving like Mar-a-Lago kind of vibes. And I don't know, I don't know if that's actually what I want to watch. But the one thing that is super interesting in this report is that Harry Dubin might appear on this show. It sounds like he is not part of the main cast.
Starting point is 00:13:28 So this might also just be like a rumor that doesn't come to fruition. But anyway, Snowbirds may be coming to Bravo in 2025. Who can say they're shooting the pilot right now? It sounds like this has not been bought by a network or ordered to series. So we might never hear about this show again. But boy, doesn't it sound interesting. So good, so good, so good. Everything you want for summer is at Nordstrom rack stores now and up to 60% off.

Starting point is 00:14:26 You're thirsty for the sun on your shoulders. That perfect hang on the patio sundress. Those sandals you can wear all day and all night. And you've had enough of shopping from your couch. Done hoping it looks anything like the picture when you tear up on that envelope? It's time for a little in-person spring treat. It's time for a trip to Ross. Work your magic.
Starting point is 00:14:48 But really, let's talk about OSE. I feel like that's the reason we're actually here today. And there's a lot to talk about. So if you recall, this week we are coming off of Katie's golf event where she talked to Heather about the paparazzi rumors. And the paparazzi rumors are not going away. Because this week, we start with like three separate little debriefs about what has happened last week. So we have Terry and Heather.
Starting point is 00:15:12 who are hanging out at their at their Balboa Bay Club residents for the season. I loved when I was talking to Emily earlier this week and I mentioned Heather's commuting from Beverly Hills to Ose and she's like, well, she stayed in a hotel. Like, I don't think Heather quite phrased it that way. That makes it sound like a little bit like she's just staying in a hotel for the show and not like, oh, she's like living part-time.
Starting point is 00:15:39 But anyway, Terry and Heather are there. Gina and Jen are coming over. for a little weird like Galantines Day thing. Gina and Jen suddenly don't have an issue with each other anymore. I feel like we smoothed that over like a little too quickly. But I don't know. I'm sure we'll come back to it. Katie and Shannon are having a little girl's time.
Starting point is 00:15:56 They're really feeling each other. And then Tamara and Emily are having a little debrief also about what happened in the prior episode. These these little subsections of the cast are interesting. Tamara and Emily really getting along is funny. Katie and Shannon bonding so quickly that I have questions about. And then, you know, Heather having over Gina and Jen, it kind of feels like a charity luncheon in the way that like Heather's doing charity, having them over. But the paparazzi thing, again, talking about this last week, I don't know how much there is there. Like I don't know how much we really, really care about this storyline.
Starting point is 00:16:37 but Heather does seem still pretty upset about the way in which this was handled. Terry kind of, Terry trying to laugh it off and being like, well, I like paparazzi photos. So if Katie has the number, I'll take it. It's like, sir, your wife was just on a golf course swearing on her children's lives that she's never called the paparazzi. So I don't think, I don't think that's quite the energy that we're handling this with. Heather, of course, is doing her like, you know that Katie person? You know that rando?
Starting point is 00:17:09 Did you hear what she was saying? I do like, Heather's still not giving Katie really the time of day, I think is, I think is understandable. And, you know, Katie's coming in hot. And I think, you know, everybody has said that she's going to have like the wrath of Heather DeBro. And I think sometimes the wrath of Heather DeBro can just be like indifference. Like she's, she doesn't give a shit about you. And that you're going to feel it and you're going to hate it. And that's the way it's going to be.
Starting point is 00:17:36 and it's really hard to come back from that place. But what I thought was interesting in this little Galentine's gathering with Gina, Jen, and Heather, is that Heather is actually seemingly the most mad at Gina for the paparazzi thing coming back up in the group through Katie because she has realized that Gina knew about Katie having receipts before Sutton's Christmas. party. And again, this timeline is a little bit like headscratchy because they're they're filming this in like January, February. And Heather maintains that she had no idea who Katie was until they started filming in January, even though they perhaps cross paths at Sutton's Christmas party. But Gina now is like, oh, well, I actually met Katie before this. And basically right away, she was telling
Starting point is 00:18:31 me that she knew this stuff about you. And so this again, plays into the weird. that I've talked about on last week's episode, I talked about it with Emily that Katie was clearly digging around on Heather, not just before they really like met in the group, but before Katie knew any of these women. And I'm even like, if this was before the Christmas party, I guess it makes sense that Katie had probably been talking to production about joining the show for this season, but I'm like, did this chick even have a contract signed? Like, did she even know for sure that she was going to be on the season? I feel like she was doing a lot of a lot of prep work a while before they started filming. And it just is something where I'm like, I guess I appreciate the hustle.
Starting point is 00:19:15 I appreciate the go-getter mentality and that she's giving us something to talk about. But from like a friendship level, and Alexis is running into issues with this too, it is like, what are your intentions here? What is the end goal? Is it just to make Heather look stupid? because that is, it's, it's maybe entertaining for a few minutes, but it's not like, it's not going to keep you around in this group. And that was something talking to Emily about kind of like the newbies who have struggled in this group over the last several seasons, because really, I mean, we've had a lot of people come and go since Gina and Emily joined the show,
Starting point is 00:19:53 that like you have to, you have to do the work to really cement yourself in the group as a whole. Like you can't just have one person who's kind of your conduit through which you are, you know, trying to carry out this storyline. Like you have to actually make sense in the group. And I think that that's something Katie is going to have to work on. And again, it's early. We're only, we're still, what, four episodes into this season, four or five. And I don't know. But I just think that she is like, she's coming across like a little, a little pointed in her in her efforts. And I think that she should try to round that out a little bit. And I guess making friends, with Shannon is a good way to do that, but I still think she has a ways to go. And then hearing Emily say when she's talking to Tamara that Gina doesn't really have like a real 100% friendship
Starting point is 00:20:43 with Heather because she's always walking on eggshells with her versus calling her out when she's wrong. The Gina and Heather thing is funny because it feels like they have this idea of themselves as like such good friends. But then they've been on the show. together now, this is the third season. And I feel like most of that time has been spent with some tension between them or some not fully being on the same page about sort of how their friendship works or what kind of trust they have with each other. And, you know, Gina wants more from Heather, but then Heather has these expectations of Gina. And it just, at a certain point, it's like, if you've been quote unquote friends for three years and the whole time,
Starting point is 00:21:31 there's been this like weirdness between you like are you really not good of friends like friendships have have ups and downs for sure and i mean on housewives more than in in real life even but it's like it kind of seems like you're always nervous when she's around and for heather it kind of seems like she always has a bone to pick with gina so at a certain point like what are what are you guys actually getting out of this other than a housewife storyline and you know maybe that's enough Maybe that's all it is and that's fine. I did. I really liked seeing Shane and Emily's 15th anniversary dinner.
Starting point is 00:22:04 That's nice. Like they're just going to get pizza. They're just going to, I mean, the pizza looked good. It looked like a good spot. Emily bringing the like large framed boudoir photo to the dinner, to the public restaurant, that was a little strange to me. I'm like, I feel like in that case you could just do gifts at home. Like go to dinner, come home, have maybe have like,
Starting point is 00:22:28 dessert ready at home and then like do the gifts but she got a ring good for her then we see Gina and Katie together and this is this is important because we need to kind of close the loop on this paparazzi thing and this is another instance where we're getting this kind of narrative about Gina and Katie's friendship about how they met you know they've been friends for months and so Katie you know she really loves Gina and when Gina's when Katie started cross in this scene about how she really loves Gina and she just feels like she kind of got played and she doesn't. I'm like, babe, are you good? Like, why are you crying over your relationship with this woman that you met three months ago when you were already in talks to join the TV show that she's on
Starting point is 00:23:21 and you guys met through a mutual friend who Gina also knows because she's on an adjacent TV show. I'm like, I don't think the foundation of this friendship is really to the point where you need to be like crying over a misunderstanding of how much she was going to stick up for you in a group setting. Like, I think if that's your, if that's your threshold for crying over a friendship, it makes me wonder how many real friends you have. And I don't know. I mean, Katie might have an amazing group of girlfriends who have been there through it all and they're, you know, we just don't see them on the show. It's, it's early. You know, maybe maybe they exist. I'm not saying they don't.
Starting point is 00:23:58 I'm sure they probably do. But it is a little bit like, okay, so so far the friends that we know you have are Sutton's track, allegedly Cynthia Bailey and Gina. It's just like, it's not a deep bench. And it's not a bench that feels particularly rooted in reality. And by reality, I mean like real life, not reality TV. It feels like a very reality TV-ish. bench for somebody who has not actually been on reality TV for more than four weeks. But anyway,
Starting point is 00:24:34 she says that she felt abandoned by Gina taking Heather's side and that she really hoped that she would stay neutral in the paparazzi thing. And I am totally on Gina's side here for the most part. I say like totally for the most part. It's confusing. I have a lot of feelings. But Gina's like, I wasn't going to stay neutral because first of all, I've known Heather for three years. And also, I told you not to bring it up. Which then she did kind of like change her tune a little bit and was like, now that you've been bringing it up, I think you need to talk to Heather about it. It was a complicated situation.
Starting point is 00:25:08 I'll give Gina that. That it's like once it's in the group and once it's more importantly, once it's on camera, it's an inevitability that Heather is going to find out about it. So there is that thing of like, okay, now that it's, now that you've let it out of the bag, 75%, you really just need to do the full hundred and get it over with. but yeah, I don't, I mean, Katie expecting that there's going to be this loyalty from Gina, it just feels a little bit unearned. Like I get that we're seeing this on Dubai right now, which I'll talk about Dubai more next week. But Tallinn was brought on the show by Caroline Brooks and then pretty much immediately Caroline Brooks like doesn't want shit to do with her.
Starting point is 00:25:48 I get that Katie doesn't want to feel completely like left out in the cold by Gina. but I actually think that Gina kind of handled this sort of the best way she could. I feel like that's not something we say often about Gina. But like what was she supposed to do? She clearly has this thing with Heather where she doesn't feel like she wants to kind of, you know, run afoul of her. And so she's not going to go in and be like, yeah, Heather, my new friend, Katie, knows this shit about you. And doesn't it sound like you're a piece of shit called the paparazzi and lied about it? Like, that would only be setting Gina up for failure.
Starting point is 00:26:25 And it's like, Katie, if you're expecting that Gina's going to, like, fall on the sword just so you can have, like, a good moment. That's not how this is going to work. Everybody's trying to secure their spot. You know, Gina feels caught between a rock and a hard place. And she's like, if anything, I feel like I should have had Heather's back more. Supported you. You're the new girl. You don't get that yet.
Starting point is 00:26:47 But anyway, Katie's crying. And I think she will just have to get over it. Good sleep is everything. I'm like, oh my God, I don't want to see them. Like, Gene the Machine. I'm like,
Starting point is 00:27:56 yeah, it's a little much. The whole thing of like, yeah, when we were growing up, we liked to have fun. We like to have fun. Do we,
Starting point is 00:28:04 do we have the big bottle of Shabilly in the kitchen? I think we all did. It's like, I think, I wish the way that Shannon, like, talks about having fun
Starting point is 00:28:14 and, and drinking, it's like, it feels like every time she tries to justify or explain or, you know, like,
Starting point is 00:28:24 you know, kind of, give us context for where she's coming from and why it's okay to have a drink or two, whatever. It's like it's just not quite landing. Like I don't think she's helping herself out when she talks about this. So I kind of wish she would just not talk about it. Like I, you know, when she's in the car with Vicky on the way to Gina's group dinner,
Starting point is 00:28:43 and she's like, I can't go to Mexico for 10 years because of my DUI. It's like, that's probably a good thing. The only thing that you do when you go to Mexico is like get sloppy, drunk at Andalays and go back to Vicky's like fugly decorated apartment. Like, yeah, that's probably not an activity that you really need in your life. I mean, of course, it sucks to have like travel restrictions, but also it sucks to plow into someone's yard because you were drunk driving. So I don't know. Like some of the Shannon stuff, I'm just like, I get that she's going through it. And as Tamara says, she's pretty much permanently been going through it.
Starting point is 00:29:20 Tamara saying her life has been upside down since I've known her. It's just like, who, it's It's not not true, but also, damn, it feels harsh. I think that Tamara actually, Tamara feels like she's kind of, she's walking right on that line of being a little too harsh with Shannon. Because Shannon is the kind of person where, like, I am not Shannon's biggest loyal supporter. Like, I have no problem calling Shannon out, taking issue with a lot of her behavior, you know, a lot of her choices. And like, kind of, you know, I'm not always like, team Shannon.
Starting point is 00:29:55 But in a separate sense, I am like rooting for her to do better and for her to make good choices and for her to like be okay in a broader sense. And I think the thing with Tamara this season is that I feel like she is probably mostly right about a lot of the things with Shannon about her. You know, maybe it would be better if she took a break from drinking altogether. Maybe she doesn't need to be doing all this stuff. Maybe, you know, she's not being fully, you know, forthcoming about her. you know, situation with her therapy treatment. I don't know.
Starting point is 00:30:29 I don't know all the details. But it doesn't feel like Tamara is approaching any of this from a place of love. It feels like she is trying to kind of punish Shannon emotionally. And I think that Shannon, you know, as much as she has some shit to figure out and needs to work on herself, I think that she kind of knows that already. And I think that it feels like Tamara is sort of like kicking her when she's down.
Starting point is 00:30:55 rather than trying to come from a place of support. Because in this episode, there are multiple moments when she's at Alexis's house. She's saying in the confessional that alcoholics abuse other people and that it's traumatizing and that she needs rehab and therapy to learn how to not date the wrong guys. And then later at the dinner, Tamara once again is talking about how she's an alcoholic and she's been drunk both times. They talked on the phone. and there's the moment from the trailer that she brings up where she's like,
Starting point is 00:31:26 where Shannon's like, every morning when I wake up. And Tamara's like, after you've had a drink. It just feels like she's kind of bullying her in a way. And I don't use that word lightly because I actually hate it. It's something I really dislike when housewives are so quick to play the like bullying card. Because I think a lot of the time it's like you guys are throwing barbs back and forth 24-7. like that's not it's not bullying for somebody to say something mean about you but in the sense that bullying is like when you're sort of taking it out on somebody who is in like a weaker position than
Starting point is 00:32:03 you it does kind of feel like Tamara is a little bit like gleeful about that this season that she feels like she has this beef with Shannon and that Shannon is going through it and she is able to kind of take it out on her and it does just I don't think it's quite landing the way that Tamara wants it to. And I hope that they're able to kind of like level out that dynamic a little bit because it's just, it's not fun to watch somebody like kind of just get yelled at. And I think that's kind of what it feels like right now.
Starting point is 00:32:36 I don't think that Vicky is helping necessarily. Vicky is, she's now telling us that she's sick of fighting and she wants these girls to come together, especially as women of faith. She's like, I know you all believe in Jesus Christ. Vicky, what are you doing here? Vicky coming back on O.C. as like the bastion of Christian values was not necessarily on my bingo card. Maybe I shouldn't be totally surprised. I mean, we've clearly seen, you know, Vicky being a proud Christian is not something new. And of course, there's nothing wrong with that. But it's like,
Starting point is 00:33:18 Mama, we're really doing this right now. being like, okay, can you guys roll footage on all the times Vicky was like horrendous in the last 13 years? And surprise, surprise, they have lots of footage to roll. But Alexis, Alexis really, Alexis wasn't in last week's episode. And this week she comes back and we are in full Johnny J. Defense mode. Of course, Shannon has been told that she owes him $75,000 for the facelift and for maybe some other stuff. And Alexis now is like, she's like the official spokeswoman of John Jansen for the Real House House of Orange County cast. And I just don't think that that, I mean, similar to Tamara's treatment of Shannon, I don't think that Alexis's strategy is fully
Starting point is 00:34:07 landing either. I think early in this season, we're seeing that a lot of these women are coming in with sort of like a little bit of a pre-planned plan of attack. Katie with Heather. Uh, Tamara with Shannon, Alexis with kind of also Shannon. And it feels like all of them need to just like adjust the dials a little bit and maybe just reel it in a touch. Because again, with Alexis, it does kind of feel like her sole purpose here is just to sort of do PR for John Jansen. And for all the stuff that, for all the like, you know, he said, she said, you know,
Starting point is 00:34:44 I don't know if I trust Shannon's version of events 100% with everything that happened with John Jansen, but I also don't really need Alexis shouting in my ear about how he's the perfect man and he barely drinks and, you know, actually his relationship with Shannon was nothing like what you've heard because, I mean, Alexis was not there for his relationship with Shannon. So just by default, I might not trust everything Shannon says, but I certainly don't trust everything Alexis says. I do think that there is something to the idea. Tamara says at the dinner that Alexis maybe feels like Shannon is trying to get to everyone in the group to sort of ruin her chances of having a fair shot. And this plays into Alexis being the only one not invited to Katie's golf event. And I do, I like
Starting point is 00:35:30 Alexis bringing this up. Like this is the kind of, this is the kind of conversation that I think actually is really entertaining. When Alexis is like, hmm, I noticed that I was the only one not included. So what was kind of the thought process with that? And Katie, who now finds herself in the position of being like Shannon's lieutenant is like, well, you know, we're developing a friendship. So I just wanted Shannon to feel like she had a space where she feel comfortable. And I think that this is interesting. I mean, I don't think that it's a coincidence that Shannon this season when she's kind of maybe in her weakest position in the group, I would have to go back because, you know, there's
Starting point is 00:36:09 some stiff competition for Shannon having a bad season. But I don't think it's a coincidence that Shannon has chosen to. to really befriend the new person in the group and somebody who is maybe going through it a little bit in terms of her friendship with Gina. She's obviously not in a good place with Heather. I think people might have some questions about Katie's place in the group. So Shannon probably senses that now is a good time to kind of find someone. And I think Katie's a good person for that. I think Shannon in general, other than with Tamara and with Alexis, of course, Shannon is up in a pretty good spot. the group. She doesn't have a lot of like big beef coming into this season other than Tamara and Alexis.
Starting point is 00:36:53 So I think that Alexis kind of faces a little bit of an uphill battle to like Katie really like justify her position in the group. And I don't think she's doing a great job because the 75K comes up again. Tamara brings it up. And Alexis right away is like, I have the receipts. I can show you the wire transfers. I have it right here. And then as Shannon leaves the table, she like has her phone out and is passing it around showing like the literal receipts of Shannon's facelift. I'm like, I don't think that this is actually working because you're going to be so far past the point of no return with Shannon and then still pretend that you want to be friends with Shannon. When Emily, she's calling, she's like calling Shannon liar face, which is not, it's not inspired. It's no Jesus jugs when it
Starting point is 00:37:39 comes to an insulting nickname. But Emily is like, Alexis, you're doing your, a disservice by not letting people get to know you without all of this John stuff. And you don't seem like you actually want to be friends with anyone. You seem like you just want to, again, soldier for Johnny Jay. And Alexis is claiming that she still wants to be friends with Shannon. And it's like, baby, you just don't. You just, actions speak louder than words. And the actions are screaming loud and clear that this isn't going to go anywhere. Shannon, then threatening that she has more dirt on John, but she won't say it because she doesn't want to get sued. And I think this is also something, I think maybe like a sleeper thing that we need to be
Starting point is 00:38:19 worried about this season, I'm still really enjoying. You know, this season is great. If people are scared of getting sued and getting, you know, cease and desists and all of that, it really just like stunts the conversation and stops us from saying what we mean and using our words. And I think that this situation with John and Shannon and Alexis and this past lawsuit with Jim Bolino, it feels like there's an air in this sort of like cluster of like people are afraid of getting sued. People are afraid of, you know, backlash and all of that. And like I feel like we need that to cool off a little bit. Like John Jansen, I don't think we've seen him yet on this season.
Starting point is 00:39:06 And I don't know if we will. But I'm like, I need John to like. like let go of of legal shit and whatever because I want Shannon to be able to to process whatever Shannon needs to process and to share that with us to make good TV. And if she's always looking over her shoulder worried that she's going to get another strongly worded letter from John and his lawyer, I'm like, that's not going to help us. So I would say overall, like, I just would love if we could like turn down the temperature just a little bit on the John and Alexis and Shannon and Tamara and Vicki and all.
Starting point is 00:39:40 all of that. I'm enjoying the energy. I just think we're at an 11 and we could use like a seven for now. Because we're still early in the season. As Emily said, they haven't even left Orange County yet. We're headed to Big Bear next week. We've got big things ahead. And I'm excited for it all. But, you know, we got to get there. But anyway, that is the show for this week. Thank you so much for listening. We will be back next week with lots more exciting stuff to talk about. And until next time, Be cool.
