I think the chill is actually because it's like 15 degrees outside and I'm sitting by a couple of windows and I don't think the insulation is is really insulationing. But Ashley Darby finally divorced. She of course shared this news in a thirst-trappy Instagram photo shoot with Photoshopped newspapers announcing her divorce. I mean, how else are you going to do it? Kyle Richards would never. Let me just say that. But congratulations to Ashley. I hope she got everything she needed, wanted, and deserved in that divorce. But most of all, she got her freedom. And I'm so glad that we will not have to go through another season of Real Housewives of Potomac with a will, they, won't they, um, storyline about Ashley's still needing to file the paperwork. Oh, it was the best of times. It was the worst of times. I am excited to be back talking to you all today. I hope everyone had a nice long President's Day weekend.

I personally didn't feel like celebrating President's Day this year. So I fled the country. I spent the last few days in Madrid, Spain, which was lovely. So I really should have started this episode with a la Candace Dillard Bassett. Ola! It was a nice time. It was a really, a much-needed break from the weather from America these days. It's weird times out there. I do have one little complaint, though. I'm very, very grateful, very fortunate to be able to take a trip like that.

But we have to talk about Peacock. And specifically, Peacock's lack of international workage. Because tell me why. I traveled. I left my computer here. I was like, I want to be free. read from the chains of work. And I was. I think I, I think I checked Slack like one time while I was there, just a little peruse. But I brought my iPad and my iPad has, you know, all my streaming

service apps. And pretty much everything works. When you go to a European, like Western Europe, when you go, you know, maybe not in, in every country in the world, but when you go to London, when you go to Spain, when you go to France, most of these streaming services, they give you something. Sure, it might say, hey, you're on Max. Hey, it looks like you're traveling. Some of the stuff that's available might be different. Okay, I can handle that. You know what I was able to watch while I was in Spain? The brand new episode of the White Lotus, season three. That was piping hot, ready to go on Max. You know what I was also able to watch? A new episode of Abbott Elementary. tree. That was sitting on my Disney Plus with Hulu. The morning after it aired in the U.S., I could watch it in Spain.

Obviously, I didn't want to spend my whole trip, you know, sitting in my hotel room watching American television on my iPad. But, you know, when you're getting ready for bed, the last, I watched White Lotus while I was packing the last night I was there. You know what I couldn't watch, the five days I was in Spain? A single episode of the Traders. Any of the Bravo content that I was missing. Thank God I was able to watch the Summer House premiere ahead of time. Do you know what it's like waiting five days to watch the traders? I, by the grace of God, I was able to avoid spoilers of who went home. I saw, I saw some things.

I saw some memes, some notes. Everybody is doing their posts. I love to see it. I know that there is Hey You. That's like the international kind of version of Peacock. But why can't it just be Peacock? My friend was like, oh, you could probably get a Hey You free trial while you're in Spain. I don't want to be signing up for free trials while I'm in Spain.

I've watched Real Housewives of Beverly Hills. We're going to get into those. Tomorrow's episode, I think we'll probably talk Potomac a little bit. Their reunion has begun. We have Summerhouse, of course, is back. So much happening. So much in the pipeline. Excited to be back, though, again, it is.

fucking frigid here. And I wish that weren't so. But I'm a little jet lagged today, but we are going to push through. And I also want, I didn't get a chance to talk last week. I think this was posted on Thursday. Teddy Mellencamp revealed that she is suffering from brain tumors and that she went to the hospital recently after having debilitating headaches for several weeks. And they found numerous tumors in her brain, some of which they think have been growing there for six months. And so last Thursday, she had surgery to remove two of the tumors. She said she's going to undergo radiation therapy to remove some of the smaller, or to, you know, shrink some of the smaller ones.

We've seen some posts, some photos and stuff of her. Edwin, Edwin posted visiting her in the hospital. Her sister posted. it's it's kind of crazy to see her with her her hair is cut very short she has like sensors or something on her forehead and it's just such a scary situation because somebody like teddy obviously a relatively young fit healthy seemingly beautiful you know everything's going fine person and then all of a sudden news like this however you feel about Teddy. Just, just scary stuff. So she underwent the surgery. It sounds like it went well. We don't have a lot of updates after that. I know Kyle was on Amazon Live and people were asking her about it. And she was saying that, you know, she's not going to share real information about Teddy's health and stuff like that because that's Teddy's to share. But just saying that she's

been spending time there and that she and some of Teddy's other close friends have been basically taking turns sleeping at the house, at the house, hospital, wherever she is with Teddy. So it sounds like she's surrounded by a lot of people. I don't know exactly what her situation is with Edwin right now. I was happy to see that he was at the hospital. I don't know sort of like what terms they're on normally. This seems like the kind of event that kind of can bring people together even if they're not on the best terms, maybe on a normal day. But man, just tough stuff and so unexpected and so scary. So sending, sending, you know, well wishes and positivity and healing energy to Teddy and to her family.

Because, man, that's a scary thing to go through. And I hope that she's okay. I won't be listening to two T's, but I hope that it's, I hope that they're a very to get back to it. a sad episode for the fans of the girlies because Crishell was murdered and then Sierra was sadly banished at the end of the episode. Sierra's banishment was frustrating because it was this kind of brain quest of a few people in the house with this coffin theory of oh well many many, many episodes ago, they did that murder thing where there were three people in the coffins, and it was Sierra, and it was Nikki, and it was Jeremy. And obviously, reverse psychology. One of the three people in the coffins had to be a traitor. And the other two have since been murdered or banished. So the only person left who was in a coffin is Sierra. And so what was strange to me was that this theory had seemed to be kind of abandoned for a while.

and then all of a sudden this episode, we have Sam Azgari being like, well, obviously, it's the coffin theory. We've all been so stupid. Of course it's the coffin theory. We got to go back to the coffin theory. And Ivor is like, okay, so Danielle, tonight it's going to be Sierra. We're all decided. And it felt weirdly like this was one of the most decisive. banishments of the season. And I understand why, if you're in the game and you're one of the

faithfuls and you feel like you've successfully gotten out two traders, but at this point, prior to Sierra's banishment last night, it was 10 people left. Now it's nine. And you know that there are still probably at least two more traders. You're getting toward the end of the season. And it feels like after they got rid of Rob, they probably don't feel like they have much information to go on. So I guess it makes sense that you would sort of go back to, okay, what is, what is anything that we sort of had a working theory on that we maybe pivoted away from? Is there anything we can we can pick up or go back to versus feeling like you have to start from scratch? Now, I would say Danielle has not been the most subtle and, you know, and.

and even keel throughout the season. So it's a little bit surprising to me that nobody has kind of directed the attention at her more so. But to her credit, I think at the roundtable on this week's episode, Danielle did a good job of advocating for herself. Granted, I think that Sierra was going to go home this week either way. I don't think that Danielle really pivoted votes, but she did a good job of saying, look, I voted for Boston Rob two round tables in a row. I wanted him gone. He was gone. He was a traitor.

Numerous people that the traitors have murdered were people that I was close with. So it wouldn't make sense for me to be a traitor and to send those people home. I think that she did a pretty effective job of stating her case. That being said, I feel like anybody, you know, it's like an action speak louder than words thing. And I think that Danielle has performed actions that should make her a little more of a target than she's been so far. But anyway, Sierra's banishment is unanimous, tough times. And now we have an interesting situation. Because like I said, there's nine people left.

Two traders, Danielle and Carolyn. And can I just say that the breakdown of Danielle and Carolyn's entire communication and relationship has, been so fascinating to watch because these women do not trust each other as far as they could throw each other. Like when Danielle in the turret at the end of this episode is telling Carolyn because they were split into two groups for this mission, the Christmas, whatever. Honestly, I was watching this last night when I, you know, I flew back from Spain yesterday.

I was watching this. I turned it on at like 8 p.m. And you guys, it wasn't a great idea because I had gotten in bed. I was like sitting in bed. I put on traders. I wasn't really, I don't want to say I wasn't paying attention because I, of course, take this job very seriously. But I would say that during the missions on a good day, I already am zoned out 20% of the way.

I may have shut my eyes for a few minutes of that Christmas song mission. I reopened my eyes and Tom Sandoval was like whistling a happy tune. And I didn't feel like I needed to really rewind. I did see that, of course, Sierra got the shield. but then at the end of the episode, when Danielle tells Carolyn that Sierra got the shield, Carolyn's like, I don't fucking believe you. I think you're lying to me. These women, they hate each other.

It really reminds me, if you've seen the movie Death Becomes Her, at the end of the movie when Meryl Streep and Goldie Hawn have like accepted their fate of meeting each other for self-preservation, like really being at odds almost constantly. It's that relationship of where it's like, well, I'm a fucking traitor and I got to work with the other trader to get to the end. I don't want to work with this girl. I think she's, I think she's using me.

I should use her, but I'd rather just send her home, but I can't send her home because then I have another trade. Like, and then they get the opportunity. They can choose whether. or not to recruit another trader. And I think I agree with Carolyn that they should not do this, that they should just murder somebody and keep it pushing. Because, as I've said, there are only nine people left in the game, including two traitors.

All of a sudden, if they recruit another traitor, another faithful to be a traitor, then a third of the people in the game are traitors. And I just feel like right now, if you're in Carolyn's shoes, Carolyn has done a pretty excellent job of flying under the radar in terms of the hunt for the traitors. You saw that when Chris L. got murdered, she was shocked that Carolyn was a traitor. She was not shocked that Danielle was a traitor. I think that just on the face of it, I agree with Carolyn that they should keep their, eyes on the prize and not worry about recruiting another person who could potentially make things more complicated for them. And then on top of that, Danielle's number one draft pick for who she

wants to recruit as a trader, surprise, surprise is her BFF Brittany. And so Carolyn, no shit. She's going to be like, uh, excuse me, nah, uh, uh, we're barely, you know, making it through this as a pair, and then all of a sudden, the person that we add is going to be your bestie, and you're telling me that you're so locked in to making it to the end of this game with me and splitting the money and all of that, why on earth would Carolyn trust that Danielle is going to keep her word like that? And beyond that, even if Danielle is sincere about that aim, I wouldn't trust Danielle to actually be able to keep it together and make that happen. I think that Danielle is frequently one kind of weird move away from blowing up the whole game.

I don't know. What did strike me this week is like, is Tom Sandoval going to win this season? There's, like I said, there's only nine people left. It's funny because for the fact that we're getting kind of down to the end, I do feel like there are still a few people hanging around that haven't really done that much. Like, the fact that Ivor and Sam Asgari are both still just coasting along, we got to get them out of there. We got to trim the fat.

because at this point people like Sierra, people like Rob, even, you know, there have been a lot of people that I feel like were more entertaining to watch. And I'm sorry, I've heard Sam, you're just not giving. I am glad that Dolores has made it this far. I don't know how much, I just don't know really where this season is headed yet. And I think maybe last season it felt like we were working up to a culmination. of something more, whereas right now I'm a little bit like, okay, who knows where this is going? Obviously, I'm entertained. Obviously, I'm going to keep watching. You know, Gabby Wendy can do no wrong. Dylan Efron, still, you know, a strong performer. But like, I'm not quite sure where this is all going. Let's talk about Beverly Hills, shall we?

This episode was important because it was the first time in a few weeks that we were getting the full group. back together after the little, you know, mini trip to visit Sutton's mom in Augusta, which I don't think I talked about last week, but that episode fully made me cry. All of the stuff with Sutton dealing with the long-lasting effects of her father's suicide and the way in which her mother kind of wasn't able to handle that. it was really to me just very emotional. And for somebody who's been on this show for a handful of years now, really being able to peel back some of the layers of what makes Sutton tick the way that she does,

because Sutton is a very unique, very kind of, she can be prickly, she can be confusing, she can be frustrating in so many different ways. And for somebody like that, I think having that deeper context for some of their emotional baggage and their past trauma and stuff like that is so important. And so I'm glad we finally got to see that from Sutton meeting her mom felt like it explained a lot. But this episode, we kind of click back into the main idea of this season, of course, which is the Kyle and Derreet issues. and sort of this, you know, circular group dynamic around who's getting along and who's not, which I guess is kind of every season of Housewives. But really the focal point of this episode is DeRite's Fourth of July party,

which she says that she hosts a Fourth of July barbecue every year. And I suppose that we most of the time have not seen the Beverly Hills women filming in this part of the calendar year. but I am like, to me, like, Dereet being somebody that hosts a Fourth of July party every year just doesn't quite seem right. I'm like, you do? What made you choose that? It's, fourth of July is just such a not chic holiday.

And that's not meant to be a commentary on like this state of America or, you know, that patriotism is gross or anything. It's just like fundamentally a holiday that people celebrate with like fireworks and hot dogs and beer. And I just feel like Derreet would more appreciate like a New Year's Eve party would seem a little chicer for Derreet. You know, no, I just don't think of Derrick as like a all-American. I mean, she's a child of the world. that accent isn't giving Fourth of July. It's giving, I don't know, boxing day.

Because I don't know what that means, but we don't celebrate it in the U.S. Like, I was half expecting her to be like, well, you know Fourth of July is a bank holiday, so we're going to celebrate it with a barbecue. But anyway, yeah, we got to Doreen's house, and unfortunately for Sutton, she's the first one to show up and Doreet's not even downstairs yet. And just the image of Sutton sitting on the couch with this weird like tiara on watching kids in the backyard that she does not know, jumping on an inflatable slide. And she's like, well, I don't know those people. Just Doreate thinks we're going to get on the slide? Where is she? I don't even want to be here. And this is, I mean,

part of the thing with this season is that it feels like, Like some of these lingering issues, we just haven't really been able to make any headway in. And the Sutton and Derreet one is strange because we started the season with, you know, Sutton saying that she was there for Doreet if she needed her with the separation. And Sutton wanting to talk about the sisterhood dynamic when they were on their trip to San Diego or wherever that was. And now we're 12 episodes into the season. And Doreet and Sutton like could not be on worse footing with each other. the next person who shows up is Kyle, and Kyle and Doreet and Sutton have this weird trio dynamic where Sutton is standing there, you know, watching Kyle and Doreet sort of do their weird small talk and she's feeling left out. And then Doreet snatches away Sutton's Hermes back. And she's like, well, thank you. It was so nice of you to bring this as a present. And it's like, okay, ha, ha, ha. But then Doret's like not giving it back for like a little too long. Look, I don't think that Sutton always does the best job of putting her best foot forward,

but I also think that for Derreet to be hosting this party and Derreet deciding to invite everyone to the party, I don't think she was making Sutton feel like the most welcome and, you know, loved and appreciated here. Like, as much as it was not great that Sutton, within 10 minutes of arriving, was calling Derreet a bitch for bringing up the drinking stuff again. I also think that DeRite wasn't exactly being like the most, um, the most lovely hostess to Sutton. It's that weird thing where it's like, obviously on Housewives, you're inviting people to events that if you were just like choosing your five favorite people in real life, you wouldn't invite them to, but it was kind of like, to re, okay, like, you're not exactly like creating a situation that's going to lead to

a positive dynamic. But, but things continue to go down from there. because Garcell shows up. They're sitting out in the back. Sutton's drinking this later. She will go on to call it a nasty ass watermelon drink. And Garcel's like, oh, it has alcohol in it. And Derreet then latches onto this thing of like, well, you're drinking alcohol. It has alcohol in it.

And this is a trigger for Sutton because, you know, last season it was a whole thing with people bringing up her drinking. And so she's like, Derreet, you're a bitch. No, no, no. you're, you're, you're bitch. Doreet doesn't like this. Sutton's dorms out. It's a whole thing. And this is right when, you know,

Garcel and Kyle go after Doreet and, or go after Sutton and Doreet's feeling like she's annoyed that they're going after her. And then Bose shows up right as they're, you know, kind of melting down in the doorway. This is a mess. It's a whole, it's a mess. And you can tell that Sutton and Doreet, like really don't like each other on, on I think a deeper level than maybe I realized before watching this episode.

Because, you know, Doreet's angry at Sutton for calling her a bitch and causing a scene. Sutton is angry at Doreet for everything, apparently. And they are both saying such nasty things about each other separately. When Doreet's talking to Bosen, she goes, don't be a. bitch. Don't be a vile human. Don't be a douche. First of all, like, I, I feel like I haven't heard a really strong douche as an insult in a while. Like, that one, I feel like, you know, douche bag is like a little bit more commonplace, I feel, but like, that was an interesting pull on Doreet's All right. Don't be a douche. Okay. Interesting. I kind of like that that's in Derreitz's vocabulary like that.

You know, it's a, it's a choice. It's a strong choice. Meanwhile, Sutton in the conventional, this is brutal. She says, she has gone after me for years. I'm sorry your businesses have failed and mine has not. I'm sorry you can't have a clean divorce and I did. I'm sorry for everything that's wrong with. your life. Oh my God. Sutton, please. Like, that's a nasty read. First of all, like, I would like to see the financials on the Sutton concept. Because like, while I can accept that her business hasn't failed, I do feel like there's a difference between your business like totally thriving and just having the capital to keep a store open, kind of no matter what. So I would love to know, like, is the Sutton store in Beverly Hills, like, bringing in money,

or is she just able to keep it open? You know what I mean? That's not the point, though. The point is that Sutton fucking hates to read. It's not good. And Erica, meanwhile, she just wants a hot dog. She wants a hot dog real bad. And she brings that up four or five times and she finally gets it.

Thank God for her. She goes, all I came here for is my once a year kosher hot dog. Just give it to me. Because suddenly, you know, even after Sutton leaves and that whole little thing is over, suddenly we have Garcel calling out Bose for being Dorit's mouthpiece. and Erica's like, well, this is annoying because Garcel has spent years being Sutton's mouthpiece. So what's wrong with Bowes defending Derreet when Garcel has been defending Sutton for years? And then Garcel brings up what Bose said about Kyle while they were in Georgia, which was that she felt like Kyle was a little bit cold.

And Bose is like, yeah, well, you know, like you seem great. I just didn't feel like we connected. And Kyle's like, well, I thought we connected. And Bose is like, yeah, I just, I don't feel like I really, like, know anything about your life. And it is interesting, like the little flashes we get to Bose and Kyle's interactions so far this season are to me like pretty surface level. It's like, okay, yeah, like Kyle sent Bose flowers when she had her surgery and went to visit her, which was nice. but then that devolved into Kyle just like being upset about the text message thing. And then we see at, you know, Sutton Spa Day that, you know, Kyle goes to sit down next to Buzz and they're like, oh, this is nice.

Like, none of that is really indicating that Kyle has opened up to Bose, like, in a deeper way. Not that Kyle should be required to do that, but also if Bose feels like she doesn't know Kyle that well yet, I think that's probably accurate, but whatever. Kyle is like, Kyle, I think is mostly just frustrated that Bose is so close with Doreet and has so many opinions about the whole Doreet situation. And Kyle's like, you haven't even met PK. And Doreet is saying, why does that matter? Personally, I think that that's like kind of a good point.

I do think that there is something too, for somebody in Doreet's position, meeting somebody like Bose at the time that she does and becoming close with her, that is appealing to Doreet because it is somebody who has no skin in the game and no instinct to sort of both sides at all or to do any of the, you know, play the devil's advocate or, you know, you know, kind of be the, be the voice of reason. she's going to be an echo chamber, somebody that you can tell whatever you want and she's not getting information from anywhere else. She doesn't have any prior knowledge. Dere can give Bowe's whatever pieces of information she wants. And I'm not saying that that's like a bad or manipulative

thing. That's normal. That you find somebody when you're going through something and you can just vent to them in exactly the way that you need to. Whereas Kyle, I'm not saying she's handled her relationship with P.K. and Doreet in the best way or in the most supportive way to Doreet. But it is understandable that she has more nuanced feelings and understanding of this situation than Bows would. Because like she says, Bose has never met Pek. Bose didn't know Doreet and P.K. as a married couple for years. It would be strange if Kyle all. all of a sudden was like, yeah, fuck, P.K., I've never seen that guy before.

Doreet, tell me whatever you want, and I won't ask any questions. That would be disingenuous. And so I think I understand kind of where both of them are coming from. But I think it was a good point to say, like, Bose has never met PK. She hasn't been here this whole time. I do think it's a little funny for Kyle to be like, I've shared a lot. Because Doreet's like, I don't even know what's going on with you right now. She's like, what do you want for me?

I'm a mama for. My husband moved out. Blah, blah, blah, blah, blah. To be fair, yeah, like, I just don't think Kyle has that much going on. Maricio left. She's kind of been in this state of limbo for the last year. But what I think is important is that at the end of the episode, we finally get the conversation between Kyle and Dorit that I think should have happened 10 episodes ago. And that is that they are sitting down. They're in Derreitz room. First of all, seeing the inside of Derreet's house with shoeboxes and shelves and piles of stuff everywhere, knowing that that is so out of character for her, I think that is extremely telling. And I, you know, commend her for letting that be shown on camera.

Kyle clearly is taken aback at this. You know, she's like, Derreet is the most tidy, meticulous person. And so to see that she's living like this right now. And look, it's not like she's in, you know, a house on hoarders. Like, it's, it's just, is a little bit of a mess. That says so much about where she's at right now. And then for them to be able to sit down and talk and realize that, like, they're more or less in the same place. Their situations have so many similarities. And I think specifically the position that they are both in of this separation where for both of them,

it seems increasingly clear that this is not a temporary separation, that there is not a realistic path toward getting back together, reconciling, that for one reason or another, the D word has felt like it's off the table or too extreme or too soon or whatever, but that if you're being realistic, you know, Maricio's buying the furniture. P.K. is an asshole. These things are not pointing you in the direction of, oh yeah, once our six months is up or once our year is up, we'll just come back together in harmony. That's not how it works. That certainly doesn't seem like it's how it's going to work for either of these people. So I'm glad that as they are sort of both, having to come to this realization about where they are in these relationships, that they can at least start to do that together. At the very end, we got this one week later thing of when Mauricio is spotted kissing a younger woman at the airport. I am very interested to see how this plays out

on the show because Kyle, whether she will admit it or not, this whole time has been pretty reluctant to get into any sort of specifics and details about her relationships, Mo's relationships, kind of this, you know, next phase of what that's going to look like for both of them. And at this point, she might be, she might try to avoid it, but if it's on the show, everybody else is not going to be avoiding it. So I, I'm excited for this to be on the show. Obviously, tough stuff to watch for Kyle probably, but I mean, they've been separated for over a year. It is what it is.
