Starting point is 00:00:00 This episode is brought to you by Prime. Obsession is in session. And this summer, Prime originals have everything you want. Steamy romances, irresistible love stories, and the book-to-screen favorites you've already read twice. Off-campus, L, every year after, the love hypothesis, Sterling Point, and more. Slow burns, second chances, chemistry you can feel through the screen.
Starting point is 00:00:25 Your next obsession is waiting. Watch only on Prime. Betcha's media presents. Ha ha, laugh, funny. Mention It All, a Bravo by Betch's podcast. We don't say that, but now we said it. With Dylan Hafer. Who don't check me, boo?
Starting point is 00:00:41 And Barry Rosenfeld. I need to start drinking alcohol. Now go to sleep, we. Hey, everyone. Welcome back to another episode of the Mention at All podcast. I'm Dylan Hafer. And I'm Barry Rosenfeld. And welcome to November.
Starting point is 00:00:55 It's a new month. You know, there's nothing happening this week. So it's just, you know, going to be a really chill time in the world. Liar! Yeah, but we have plenty to talk about today. I am on a new conspiracy theory that I cooked up that I think Lisa Vanderpump might be the long last grand duchess Anastasia. I'm working on some, you know, points of why I think this, but, you know, I feel really
Starting point is 00:01:24 strongly about it. I, for one, did not see that coming at all. I thought you were going to be like, I'm ready for a new week. Like, I am refreshed and you have like a whole other agenda going on. I don't know. I certainly wouldn't say I feel refreshed right now. You know, we'll see. We did have over the weekend, obviously, was Halloween.
Starting point is 00:01:46 And so despite the fact that we're in a pandemic, we saw a lot of Bravo Lebrides posting their costumes. I did absolutely nothing for Halloween and was perfectly happy to sit my ass at home and do nothing. I mean, if this is the new normal, which it has been for a few months, and we don't have to partake in holidays anymore, this sounds so good to me. No, it was a little sad, though, for me, to be honest, that, like, there were no trick or treaters. You know what I mean? Like, for me, that's, like, sad. And, like, I went outside and there was, like, one mom walking with her daughter. And I was like, this, these poor kids. Like, that's what I feel bad. And. for. But you know what? If everyone does what they need to do and for the time being,
Starting point is 00:02:38 we can have the kids trigger treating next year. Just an FYI. From what I saw, I think for the most part, it seemed like the Bravo Labs were doing a pretty good job on Halloween. I didn't see too many questionable posts. There may be one or two, but overall, it was not like a Kardashian vibe where it was like a giant party. Personally, one of my favorite costumes was Candy Burris and family. They did Masked Singer inspired costumes. Of course, Candy won season three of the Masked Singer earlier this year. So Candy was in like a version of the costumes she wore on the show, the Night Angel.
Starting point is 00:03:21 Her little adorable baby daughter Blaze was this cute little monster. And then Ace and Todd were both astronauts. I thought this was so fun because it was like a family theme costume, but everybody still kind of got to dress up as what they wanted to. Right. I also like the thought behind hers. Like I like that it was meaningful. I personally loved, obviously, Bronwyn,
Starting point is 00:03:47 because she has a household of people to go along with the costume. Like, it worked for her. She was Snow White and the Seven Dwarves. But like, then what? But anyway, that wasn't my favorite. My favorite was Portia because, oh, my God, she was Cardi B. And the effort that went into that was unreal. But I do have to say, because I have a whole list, my favorite of housewife of people
Starting point is 00:04:16 dressing up as her was Leah. The amount of people that dressed up as different as different lias, by the way, is was very cool. I liked that. For a first season housewife, the amount. of different Halloween costumes that she inspired was really remarkable. There was there were a couple Tiki Torch moments.
Starting point is 00:04:36 There was the mesh bucket and fashionable outfit with the sex. Actually across the board, a lot of different Leah costumes. Yeah. You know, I have different standards, obviously, but my take on whether or not you make it as a celebrity is if one, you're a Halloween costume. I truly believe that.
Starting point is 00:04:53 Absolutely. If someone dresses up as you, you made it. Um, one costume that I feel like I need to shout out for being the worst Bravo Lab costume that I saw was Miss Dana from Vanderpump Rules did without a hint of irony. She did a sexy RBG costume like glasses, the little, um, white lace collar and then just like a lace body suit. And it's like, girl, no. Here's the thing. Not only was that disrespectful on a few levels, but like, like, Like in my head, I'm envisioning her being like, oh my God, I know what I'm going to be for Halloween. And like thinking she's thinking outside the box and nailed it. And like, no, it failed. That was a fail. This is a costume where at least one other person was there to take the photo of her.
Starting point is 00:05:46 And the fact that one other person knew about this and didn't tell her it was a bad idea. She needs new friends. Yeah. I mean, it was, it's not cute. Like you could be a sexy anything. you could be like a sexy laptop cover, you know, but like, well, I'm only looking and there's like, it's like, it's right next to me. So I was like, what's the first thing in my room? Yeah. I mean, that's the thing. Like, I don't have any issue with like, you know, being, dressing as sexy as you want,
Starting point is 00:06:16 a Halloween, whatever. But it's like that is one of, there's maybe like a handful of people that you shouldn't sex up for Halloween. And this year, RBG is one of them. Yep. But, you know, we'll. see. I don't, it's, it's weird because in my head, I'm like, oh yeah, Dana from Van der Pump Rules, but I'm like, is that even happening anymore? Like, who the fuck knows? Are we ever going to see her on our TV screens again? I couldn't tell you. Let's talk about Real House of Potomac. We had, I think, a really fun episode last night. There was a lot of little stuff going on. And already next week, they're going on their trip to Portugal, which I just feel like I'm not
Starting point is 00:06:59 ready for, I'm excited for it, but I'm not like, my body isn't ready yet. Right. Well, wait, speaking of Halloween, we forgot about Ashley Darby, who nailed her her Australian-themed costume with her baby pouch, too. Like, I thought that was adorable. That was really cute. And Little Dean was a koala. He is so freaking cute. Because last night and last night's episode, like, how many times could Giselle say she
Starting point is 00:07:20 didn't know Dean was coming to her house? And I was like, he's not, she didn't show up with like a fraternity. She showed up with like her baby. Well, and that was one of those things where it's like, it wasn't like the weekend trip where she had to make all these arrangements to bring Dean. was like he's sitting over in the stroller while you guys are talking on the couch. Like, it's fine.
Starting point is 00:07:38 He's so cute. Like, I can't get over it. As much as it's Michael, I'm trying to separate that because I'm like, little baby Michael is, is cute. It's,
Starting point is 00:07:47 there's a difference. Okay. But backing up a little bit, we start with this like, okay, well, we start with Monique handing out flyers for her podcast, which is just not a thing that, that's not a thing that people do.
Starting point is 00:08:00 Everything we've seen Monique do for her podcast. We're like, Wait, there's other, like, do you have a marketing person? Well, the thing is, this is allegedly after her podcast show. So she's not even handing out flyers about the show. She's handing out flyers just about the podcast. And it's like, if you have half a million followers on Instagram and you can't get people to listen to the podcast from there, like maybe the, I don't know flyers are going to work.
Starting point is 00:08:25 But whatever, wishing Monique the best, even though there has not been a new episode of that podcast in a while if you check. But so then we see Giselle and Robin at tea with Karen And vibe for them I was like Hmm
Starting point is 00:08:41 I know when they were like Before Karen got there when they were choosing the different sandwiches and stuff I'm like they are so out of their element here But so they're talking about What happened the previous week and
Starting point is 00:08:57 It's This is just like a classic housewives game of telephone I feel like where they're talking about this comment about Wendy being ignorant and, you know, Karen, it's, oh, I loved what was going on. I mean, but how many times are we going to see this game of telephone that you're referring to? Like, it's kind of crazy to me. I'm just like, can everyone just stay in their lane and like, mind their business essentially? Like, it all went from Giselle. And I do.
Starting point is 00:09:33 have to say though at least jazel was honest about being like yeah i'm like she's being more open about it lately she's like yeah i'm i'm being i'm being shady i'm i'm starting stuff and i'm just like okay i guess it's a little more funny because you're aware of it now but also i'm just like stop um but yeah i don't i don't i also i was dying when jazelle thought robin's hat company was called embezzles embezzled, not embellished. Oh my gosh. And how much did she think the hat was worth? She thought the hats worth $1,200. No, she thought Robin owed $1,200 in taxes.
Starting point is 00:10:17 Wait, guys, when I watched these episodes, am I, like, getting a different... Why do I get, like, confused at what's going on? That was later in the episode when they're talking about the taxes, and Giselle and the confessional is like, I mean, she just owes like $1,200 than the producer. are like she owes $90,000. See, when I watched my version of the episode, I thought, because they were talking about the photo shoot, I thought she's like, yeah, these hats are like $1,200 and the producers are like, they're like $25.
Starting point is 00:10:44 No. That was an episode I got. Okay. So, okay. Then Wendy is talking about being annoyed or angry, whatever. She's very upset about Karen's comment that she's being ignorant. And she's taking it to heart and saying, you know, I have four degrees. I'm not ignorant, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah.
Starting point is 00:11:05 I feel like she's kind of like, she's misconstruing this on purpose because I don't think Karen calling her ignorant has anything to do with the amount of degrees she has or how smart of a person she is. Well, we see that later when Karen shows up and lets her know how she feels, but she also was mad about them making fun of her
Starting point is 00:11:26 and like her walk and blah, blah, blah. And she, you're right, she was like making herself heated in this moment. She was like, how mad can I get about this? And you're right. It wasn't like the,
Starting point is 00:11:39 they were like maliciously making fun of her. They were just having like a little dig at her, you know? And so at, I do have to say, I give Robin credit for this hat company. And I do have to say that the photo shoot was very cute. And the photos were really adorable.
Starting point is 00:11:58 Yeah. Like I really liked how she included the women. I guess this has been and will be an ongoing thing where we're either going to see everyone and not Monique or Monique and not everyone. So Monique wasn't in the photo shoot. But the photo shoot is where and how they all thought that other random model there was Katie. I agree. She did look like Katie. Yes, she did.
Starting point is 00:12:19 But that is where Wendy decided to confront the women. But you can tell even when they walked in, she was like pissed. And I'm like, oh, God, this is not like the time or place for this. But she did confront them. And how do you feel about the now nonstop four degree conversation? I think I like Wendy a lot. I think Wendy has really good housewife potential. I love seeing her family.
Starting point is 00:12:50 I think she has a really sort of compelling personal storyline. I think she is still kind of finding her footing at how to do how, wives. And that comes, you know, so it's partially she's talking too much about the degrees. Sometimes it feels like she's sort of trying to make drama out of something that doesn't need to be drama. And then it feels forced like still at the lakehouse when, you know, that first episode at the lakehouse just came out of nowhere. And it was like way too much too quick of Wendy just flying off. And so I think I understand why she, I would have been for us if Karen had said those things about me of kind of like mocking the doctor aspect of it, whatever.
Starting point is 00:13:36 She's never claimed to be a medical doctor. That's a completely separate thing. But I also think Wendy needs to get better at sort of choosing her battles and also, you know, the specific way she responds. You know, I don't think imitating the walk or anything like that is really something to be that mad about. And also, I think she was, I think she was. I think she was. was wrong in the last episode when she said there's no middle ground here and that Karen hasn't held Monique accountable. I think that she's purposely kind of only seeing Candace's side of it. And I think it gives Karen an easy opportunity to kind of drag her because it's like you were being, you know, stupid in the way that you were talking about it. Yeah, I do agree. But also at the
Starting point is 00:14:26 photo shoot when when jazelle had let wendy know about what they were saying joselle then stayed quiet during the entire argument and while karen and wendy were going out of it and i'm just like come on like at least say like what you heard or how you feel like don't that's like a classic like oops and then like run away you know and i was like yes it's good to say out of it but either stay out of it fully or say what you need to say like This is you you started this kind of kind of. Well, it was interesting then we saw Karen and her confessional was basically saying that, that, you know, Wendy, sure, she, you know, spoke out of, you know, whatever.
Starting point is 00:15:09 Wendy was annoying in that situation, but that she really puts the blame on Giselle because Giselle's the one that's being messy and she's known Giselle for years and she's the one that's kind of at the root of why there's drama over this. And I think it's, it's interesting that Karen is really picking up on that. we're starting to see, I think, why it's starting to clear up why Giselle and Karen are currently really not on good terms with each other because Karen is kind of calling Giselle on her bullshit and not having it. And I personally, like, I like both of them a lot. I don't feel the need to choose one side over the other, but I completely understand why Karen is kind of like,
Starting point is 00:15:50 are we doing this again? Really? Like, it's really, Giselle again. Like, going behind my back and talking about how I was reacting to this. I don't know. I mean, I love Giselle for her messiness, but I also totally see why she would be a very difficult person to be in a friend group with. Of course,
Starting point is 00:16:10 because picture, I'm sure this has happened to all of us. Like that one person in your friend group, it's almost like, keep my name out of your mouth because now I have to go and defend myself. Why are you starting things? It's like people's storylines in real life. Your friend wants to stay relevant in your friend.
Starting point is 00:16:26 group and like at your expense. So yeah, at that point, it's like annoying and I get where Karen's coming from. But you know what? Karen, well, people can defend herself and can stand up for herself. So that's someone I probably wouldn't like do that to. I wouldn't do that to anybody, but Karen especially because she's like, honey, I don't play. The way she she gathered Wendy last night when she was saying, oh my God, she said, my mother always said common sense is a saving grace and baby, you can't buy it. It was like holy crap. She's blessed with the spirit of a businesswoman and, you know, she's, she's on that journey. The thing is, like, I don't think, I think it's amazing that Wendy has, you know, the educational background that she does.
Starting point is 00:17:12 She's obviously worked really hard for it. But I think she, I do think she feels like it makes her superior to the other women in a way. And I think that that is not really a great attitude to have because, first of all, it is a, it is a, it is a, it is a, privilege thing. And it's great that she has that, but it's not anybody else's fault necessarily if they don't have that. But also, you're on real housewives. You're not on, you know, you're not in a job interview to be a political science professor. That's not a job qualification to be a housewife, to have four degrees. And so in, in the situation that you are putting yourself in, that only goes so far. And I think she's already kind of gotten the mileage out of that. And now she needs to stop kind of leaning on it.
Starting point is 00:17:57 Perfectly sad, Dylan. They're going to Portugal. Well, I was going to say, winter is so last season. And now Springs got you looking at pictures of tank tops with hungry eyes. Your algorithm is feeding you cutoffs. You're thirsty for the sun on your shoulders. That perfect hang on the patio sundress.
Starting point is 00:18:20 Those sandals you can wear all day and all night. And you've had enough of shopping from your couch. done hoping it looks anything like the picture when you tear up on that envelope. It's time for a little in-person spring treat. It's time for a trip to Ross. Work your magic. Plan B is a backup birth control option that's there for you when things don't go according to plan. It specifically works after unprotected sex and before pregnancy occurs by temporarily delaying ovulation.
Starting point is 00:18:48 Plan B is available nationwide at all major retailers and through delivery apps like DoorDash. No ID, prescription, or age requirement. It's the number one OBGYN recommended brand of emergency contraception, and it won't impact your future fertility. That's Freedom to Be. Use us directed. When Ashley, Ashley's just so cute at these little things. So she comes with her little box full of goodies at the photo shoot,
Starting point is 00:19:15 and then she's like, this is a hint for you ladies as to where we're going. You know, I really want to go away, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah. And she holds up this flag. and as if these women were in like a history lesson in high school all just staring. And then Candice, little Candice, is that China? And I was like, Candice, no. I mean, as much as we all don't know what every flag is, I feel like a lot of people know what the flag of China is.
Starting point is 00:19:42 And also, that's not where you're going on your group vacation is China. So they are going to Portugal. And then Wendy guessed it. And then Ashley just goes, Wendy. And so then someone thought they were going to Nigeria. I was like, oh my God, this is such an like a mess of like a scene and kind of embarrassing. Oh, Nigeria would be fun though. If they went to lay this together, like that would be so fun.
Starting point is 00:20:06 Okay. But they're in. They're going to Portugal, obviously. I want to talk about Ashley's mindset when she was at Giselle's house talking about this trip. And she was saying that she was going to invite all the ladies. And Giselle's like, okay, great. all the ladies except Monique. And did Ashley really think she was going to get away with having Monique on this trip?
Starting point is 00:20:31 I don't. I'm like, Ashley, girl, that is, what do you think is happening here? He could have done the whole scary island situation and just had Monique show up and say, hello, I'm here, but that wouldn't have one over a while. I think Ashley's just trying to be really like nice about it. And all she needed was one person to be like, no, because listen, maybe Ashley was like, you know what? If I say this to Giselle, just me and her, she might be, you know what, Ashley, like, you're
Starting point is 00:20:58 right. but that's not what Giselle said. So Ashley was like, okay, never mind. She was seeing if it could work. Yeah. Well, it's for a second. She was like, oh, she could stay at a different hotel. And it's like, like, come on.
Starting point is 00:21:10 I think it's unfortunate that it's gotten to this point because I, like, Housewives is always best when everyone can kind of mingle with each other and have, you know, going off dynamics, but it's like, Candice and Monique are not going to be on the same trip together. That's not going to happen. And then Giselle says she wouldn't feel comfortable. And she says kind of by proxy that Robin and likely Wendy also wouldn't feel comfortable. I do think it's a little unfortunate that the three of them have kind of taken this like position where they are like as a group not okay with being around Monique. But at the same time, I don't think it would have worked for everyone to go on this trip.
Starting point is 00:21:51 So, you know. Right. But I still, it's just, it is unfortunate, but I'd rather it be one person that's not going than like two or three. And then it be just like a little weekend getaway. So that's working out for our benefit. But speaking of that, then we see at the end of the episode now, Monique is quote unquote counter suing or counter pressing charges.
Starting point is 00:22:16 to Candace. And it is just a ping pong match in my opinion to see what is happening with these two. I can't, I truly can't keep up.
Starting point is 00:22:29 It's like, what is happening? I love the way they film these things because we see like the, the blog screenshot of Monique pressing the charges and then we just hear Candice go, fuck that rusty ass bitch.
Starting point is 00:22:44 It's like a housewives version of Law &oy. I, okay, to be honest, I don't understand the, um, so I know when you sue someone, that's usually like for money and then you can counter sue. But I don't understand if you're pressing charges, can you like counter sue with charge? Like I don't understand the back and forth. Like wouldn't you just like separately press charges? I don't know how that works. I, I, okay, so I can be honest. I don't know how that works either, which I guess is a good. thing. But if you live in Maryland and you're a lawyer, reach out. But I did see today that
Starting point is 00:23:25 the Bravo breakdown, who we had on our podcast a few weeks ago, posted this, the T of Potomac. Did you see that? So I'll read you. I'll read you what it says. Yes, I would like the T. Okay. So Monique commented, but I did have a case in all charges were dropped. And this is apparently from a lawyer. It says, good morning. I hope you have enjoyed the holidays. Our office has, which does that mean like Halloween? Our office has reviewed both cross-complaints applications, interviews, including the footage provided by Bravo and our office has determined that we will not be moving forward with either complaint. We will be filing lines to drop the charges.
Starting point is 00:24:03 So the February date will be taken off the docket. Thank you for your time regarding this matter. I think this is from like last, like last January or something. last January well because all of this was happening last fall no I know that's interesting so I guess I mean I guess that makes sense because in in the context of like what's currently happening we're not like still hearing about whether Monique is going to go to prison correct I feel like it's the kind of thing where I don't know anybody who's watching this show that really thinks any either of them should be in legal trouble for this it's just a shitty situation all around but like not jail worthy. Absolutely not. But, but, but, fuck that rusty ass bitch. But does, is this gone to effect, to be honest, future season? You know what I mean? Like, this is going so well. And now it's like, does one of them have to go? Or can this continue? Obviously, they have yet to tape their reunion. We'll see how that kind of changes things up. I would be very, very surprised if at least,
Starting point is 00:25:12 one of them doesn't leave after this season. I don't know how that's going to work out in terms of a firing versus choosing to leave or necessarily which one it's going to be. I have heard kind of like rumblings or people have feelings that Monique might sort of choose to walk away. I mean, when we when we talk to Monique, one thing that she was talking about was how it's not fun like it used to be because people are making it personal and about her family and all of that. And so from that angle, I could totally see a point where if she doesn't really need the money from being a housewife, that it's like, why am I putting myself through this? Yeah, I mean, we've heard from multiple housewives and we see it ourselves so we know. Are they doctors? No, but being a housewife is still difficult because of the filming and again, your family being on the show, et cetera, and the time it is. I'm not taking that away from them. But in this sense, of being like this is so easy for you to just be on the show, have your storyline and go with it and be a fan favorite.
Starting point is 00:26:22 That is how I look at it. So if I were Monique or Candace, I would be so mad that this stupid effing altercation is what messed up like my being on the show. You know what I mean? It's very frustrating to me as a viewer because I'm like, if that was me, I'd be so pissed. The thing with Monique, though, is that obviously the altercation is like its own kind of thing.
Starting point is 00:26:47 But even before that, I mean, there are these rumors surrounding her marriage, whatever, her having an affair that we haven't really dug into on the show for whatever reason. They've kind of kept it on the sideline of the season, but it's still out there. And so, you know, I have to think she's been doing this for four years now. if you're really feeling like it's negatively impacting your family that at a certain point you're like, I don't know if I can keep doing this, even if it's, you know, a great platform or whatever. It's like obviously your family and your kids and stuff come first. I would hope. I don't know.
Starting point is 00:27:26 I don't know. But yeah, I mean, I'm very interested to see what happens at the reunion because, I mean, I don't think Monique and Candice have really seen each other. I don't know if they filmed together at all for the rest of the season, but they certainly have not been like hanging out recently. Yeah, I mean, I know we're jumping the gun a little bit with the reunion, but I am excited for that. But again,
Starting point is 00:27:49 I know guys, I'm making this really personal about me and my feelings, but I'm going to be really fucking pissed if one or doesn't show up because like, I think they're going to show up. Okay, good. Well, then you made me feel a little better because we just like, come on. We need you.
Starting point is 00:28:04 I believe that everyone will be there. I don't think anyone's going to skip this. I believe the children are a future. Keep them well and let them lead them. Okay. Thank you so much for listening. You are our greatest loves of all for listening. Quickly, who's your number one?
Starting point is 00:28:22 Bravo, love in the group, Barry. Honestly, mine was Karen for that response last night. Oh, my gosh. I, you know, I'm going to agree with you. I thought Karen had a great. episode. I loved her in imitating Wendy's walk, which then we got to see everyone doing at the end of the episode. Just having a great time with Karen. And I love her fairy godmother, Cinderella confessional look. She's just, she's the best. She, she's, I do have to say, she has grown on
Starting point is 00:28:54 me. You know I wasn't like, not not a Karen fan, but she just like wasn't my favorite housewife in the beginning, like when we started watching. But like, she has really, really stepped up her game for me. So I love you, Karen. Love you, Karen. Guys, don't forget to check out the Shop Bravo by Betches collection at shopbetches.com.
