Mention It All - Failing With Flying Colors (RHOC, RHOM)

Episode Date: August 29, 2025

On the eve of Karen Huger’s release from jail, Dylan sits down to unpack his thoughts on the new Real Housewives of Potomac trailer. Will Monique’s return be a good thing for the group? From there..., he digs into this week’s new Housewives episodes, starting with the final chapter of RHOM’s trip to Spain. While Stephanie continues to dangle the plane in Marbella (which is definitely not an island), Alexia and Marysol’s patience has run out. Then, Dylan recaps a very important RHOC, where Kiki Monique finally takes the stand, Emily organizes a polygraph ambush, and Katie makes her exit. Where will this season go post-blogger drama? As always, you can watch full video episodes of our Tuesday shows at YouTube.com slash at Bravo by Betches. And also, next Friday, September 5th, I am going to be at an event at FIT in New York City, this glossy NYC event. It's a full day of fun, exciting, activations, content,
Starting point is 00:01:41 special guests. I'm going to be doing a live, mention it all podcast. That's right, a live recording with Kayla Martin from Love Island USA Season 6 and Love Island Beyond the Villa. I'm super excited to talk to Kayla. She not only is from the Love Island universe, but is a huge Bravo fan, so we're going to be getting into some of the trending Bravo topics, too. But there's a bunch of other great people coming. Blake Lively is going to be giving some sort of keynote there. Michaela O'Gera is going to be there. Jonathan Van Ness.
Starting point is 00:02:12 Lots of other stuff happening. So it should be an exciting day. So go check it out. We'll put the link in the description of the episode if you want to check it out and get tickets to come next Friday. And then if you can't make it, you'll be able to hear my conversation with Kaler a little bit later. But speaking of Love Island USA, the reunion came out this week. So I reactivated. my, you know, Love Island USA fan card and tuned into Peacock at 9 p.m. on Monday night for a two-hour
Starting point is 00:02:42 reunion special. They've got to do something about the runtime of these episodes because I don't know, like, at that point, like, why not just make it a two-part reunion? They have been doing this for years, splitting it up into two, three, even four parts. There's just something about pressing play on a 120-minute episode of Love Island. USA that feels like I could be watching Casablanca right now. I could be watching Dr. Javago. Actually, I think that's like four hours long. I could be watching some of the greatest films ever made. And instead, I am spending two full hours watching Huda, you know, claim to have some sort of Netflix deal that prevents her from talking about her personal
Starting point is 00:03:25 life. Like, at a certain point, it just feels, two hours feels a little bit gauche. It feels a little bit ostentatious. Like, it's too much. Now, I thought Ariana and Andy did a good job with this reunion. It's a lot of people to wrangle. It's a lot of topics to get through. I mean, part of the thing with Love Island is that there is so much happening because we're just watching so much footage, but at the same time, like, not that much happening. So it is, I think, probably a little bit difficult for the producers and for Andy and Ariana to really sit down and say, have two hours to talk about like 36 hours of footage, but also a lot of it isn't that interesting. So what do you actually want to focus on? And overall, I thought they did like a
Starting point is 00:04:12 fine job of kind of orienting the conversations. I think the weird thing is just that like the people on Love Island don't necessarily have the same instinct for what makes great television as the people on most of our Bravo shows, that they kind of have this weird like girl code, guy code idea of like how we're talking about these relationships that were never really that real to begin with because you're in this, you know, isolated place where the whole point is that you're coupling up with people at the drop of a hat. But then like certain things feel so serious and like what somebody said on a podcast that we can't actually reference by name becomes like this, you know, horrible offense that you did to somebody.
Starting point is 00:05:00 Like, there just feels like a little bit of a mismatch of like what actually matters and what we're talking about as if it's real. And then the way that things like actually go down. And so I feel like for that reason, by about the halfway point of the reunion, I kind of felt like my ears had started to glaze over where it's kind of like, okay, like let me know when somebody breaks up. Let me know when something interesting happens. I mean, like, Huda and Shelley were going back and forth for like 20 minutes, and it's just like, ladies.
Starting point is 00:05:31 What is any of this really about? Oh, you're so, you're, Shelley's so mad because Huda said that she was keeping Chris around for both of them when she didn't actually want Chris. It's like, well, at the end of the day, neither of you are with Chris. Chris could be overseas playing ball right now. And I'm sure that's, I'm sure, I'm sure he had a flight to catch to like Turkey or China or somewhere right after the reunion so he could go play ball overseas. But yeah, I mean, I think kind of, you know, illustrative of maybe some of my issues with Love Island reunion were that Amaya and Brian, like 48 hours after this reunion airs, they go on Instagram and confirm that they are no longer together. But actually, they unfollowed each other on Instagram before the reunion aired. So it makes me think like, okay, they probably weren't together for at least a little bit before the reunion aired.
Starting point is 00:06:24 I don't know if they were really still together when the reunion taped. But like, if you're going to do the thing where you play along that you're together until the reunion airs, wouldn't you like set your reminder on your phone to unfollow him for like after the reunion goes live? It's just things like that where then you're watching this two-hour thing and you're seeing this couple say that they're working on their whatever and they're explaining away him pouring shots in Girlie's mouth in some bar in Boston. And it's like, wait, none of this actually matters. because you're not in a relationship. I don't know. Maybe I'm just not built to be a Love Island stand.
Starting point is 00:07:02 I enjoyed this season. You know, I'm looking forward, I guess, to next year, to next summer. 36 more hours. Sign me up. But really, I'm excited to have more housewives back in my life. Obviously, O.C. and Miami have been holding it down for most of the summer. But Salt Lake City is coming back in just a couple short weeks. And then Potomac.
Starting point is 00:07:23 Potomac, our Potomac girls are coming back in October. And it's crazy because Karen's getting out of jail on Tuesday. Newsflash, Karen's getting out of jail on Tuesday. She did the crime. She did the time, and now the time is up. And I hope she's doing okay. We have not seen or heard anything from her while she has been at camp, as Teresa might say. But I hope she's, I hope she's okay. I hope she's, learned a lot about herself and, you know, all the things. You know what's crazy, though, when it was announced the other day that Karen was being released from jail on Tuesday, I don't know if you heard that, that very night before that announcement, I dreamt about Karen Hugar. Uh, full, not like, oh, I was in a, I had a dream and there were like lots of people
Starting point is 00:08:18 there and, oh, I think I saw Karen's face in the distance. I had a dream about. I had a dream about, Karen Hugar. In this dream, Karen was getting released from jail. Won't he do it? And what was her first stop after getting released from jail? This very studio. I dreamt about her coming from the jail to the studio to be on this podcast. Now, I don't think that that is what is going to happen on Tuesday. Unless we get a really last minute call or email, Karen, have your people call my people if you want this to be your first stop. I truly can't even imagine. But no, I felt like in that small way, I had dreamed her release into existence. Because Karen's coming home. But in this Potomac trailer, we don't see Karen, obviously, because she's still away. We're watching the trailer now,
Starting point is 00:09:15 and she's still currently factually in jail. But we get Giselle kind of writing a letter to Karen. It's very lady whistle down. She's like, dear Rita, these bitches is driving me crazy. Karen, please come back. This season of Potomac looks spicy. It looks exciting. They have so much good momentum coming out of the end of last season in that reunion.
Starting point is 00:09:40 And it really looks like they were able to jump right back in, you know, Stacey and Kiana and Jassy are still there. Obviously, you know, Giselle, Wendy, Ashley, kind of the real core of the group at this point. There's a couple of new ladies and I feel good about it. And Monique, you know, I don't know if I feel good about Monique. Monique is somebody who like, I wasn't like a Monique hater ever per se. I don't think. If you've been listening to this podcast for like the four to five year mark and you recall me being a Monique hater. Maybe I'm wrong. I thought it was like time for her to go when she went. So for her coming back, like, I'm a little bit neutral. I'm a little bit, a wee bit nervous because I think that
Starting point is 00:10:29 Monique has some tendencies that aren't always helpful in the Housewives game. But I'm open to her coming back. I'm open to what she's going to bring to the table. And I'm trying to lead with, you know, a spirit of openness and just being open and honest about what that's going to bring. So I'm excited to see Potomac come back in October. I hope that all of you are excited too. And I'm very curious if they will kind of last minute finagle some way to get Karen in the finale or something. A little video message maybe. You never know.
Starting point is 00:11:08 But Potomac is back in it. I mean, it always just feels good. There is no feeling in the world as a Housewives fan than having multiple franchises that you know are locked and loaded and ready to go. And having two premiere dates announced, having two franchises that are airing right now that are both, you know, good, solid to great. And, you know, I know that Rhode Island, our newest franchise, they've been filming. I would imagine that Atlanta is like, you know, they've got to be getting close, like getting ready to film. Kelly just opened finally her Nana's Chicken and Waffles location in Sandy Springs. If you'll recall, this is like such, it sounds like the like localist gossip in the world.
Starting point is 00:12:03 But if you remember during the season, her ex had been like giving her hell about getting this second location opened. You guys, it's open. and most of the ladies were at the opening. You know, I saw that Angela was there with her fan in hand. Cynthia was there. I think Shemia was there. It looks like the girls are rallying around Kelly in this time of restaurant being open. And congratulations to her.
Starting point is 00:12:32 I still hope to taste those chicken and waffles someday. But, you know, for now we've got our two first. franchise is standing strong. So good, so good. Everything you want for summer is at Nordstrom Rack stores now and up to 60% off. Stock up and save on the brands you love like Vince, Sam Edelman, Frame and Free People. Join the Nordi Club to unlock exclusive discounts, shop new arrivals first, and more. Plus, buy online and pick up at your favorite rack store for free.
Starting point is 00:13:05 Great brands, great prices. That's why you rack. Girl, winter is so last season. And now spring's got you looking at pictures of tank tops with hungry eyes. Your algorithm is feeding you cutoffs. You're thirsty for the sun on your shoulders. That perfect hang on the patio sundress. Those sandals you can wear all day and all night.
Starting point is 00:13:29 And you've had enough of shopping from your couch. Done hoping it looks anything like the picture when you tear up on that envelope. It's time for a little in-person spring treat. It's time for a trip to Ross. Work your magic. Miami finishing up their trip to Spain this episode, and it's a little bit of a strange, a little bit of a strange scenario, because I guess I didn't realize I had to pull up a map of Spain.
Starting point is 00:13:55 And you guys, I have been to Spain. I went to Madrid earlier this year, but I have not been anywhere else in Spain. So I think I thought, actually, I know I thought, I thought Marbeo is an island. So when St. Stephanie last week brought up the idea that if somebody came on her plane to Marbea and then caused issues that they could be driving home, I was, let's say, geographically confused. Because I was thinking, okay, is there like a ferry that takes you from Marbea to the mainland and then you drive? Or is it like a, is she being like, you know, is she just speaking generally? But it turns out,
Starting point is 00:14:40 you can probably drive there because it's just on the coast. Who knew? Who knew? If you're Spanish, if you're from Spain listening to this, I'm so sorry. There's a lot of beautiful places in Spain, and I think I was thinking of Majorca. I think that's really what happened here. No, but Marbea looks lovely, but Alexia and Marisol wouldn't know because at the last minute, they decide that they will not be going to Marbea on Stephanie's plane or otherwise. Now, I do wonder, like, so this is, they're going there for Julia because Julia has, you know, this gay man that she wants to make the godfather of her baby boys. And it is funny that they're going out of their way to go to Marbea. And so it's two gay guys that live together. It's like the birdcage or, you know, normal life,
Starting point is 00:15:28 I guess. Gay guys can live together. But one of the gay guys isn't there. They're like, oh, he had to be away for business. So it's just one of them. But I'm going to make him the godfather of the boys. And it's like, wait, you came all the way here. And one of the two people that's going to be the godfathers of your baby boys is not there. And Martinez not there. It's like, could we, it's like, I know we're filming right now, but could we not just do this another time when half of the interested parties are actually able to attend? I don't know. But look, that's honestly low on my list of questions for Julia after watching this season.
Starting point is 00:16:05 But, hey, it popped up. So I wanted to bring it up. Marisol and Alexia don't go. And they kind of can't get their reason straight for why they're not there. It's like the original reason is like because Steph is dangling the plane and, you know, she's making them sign this memo of all the rules of the plane. And if you break the rules of the plane, then she won't let you on the plane. And I mean, truly, I think if there's anything that we can all agree on in this world,
Starting point is 00:16:37 Like, you know, we live in very divided times. Things are polarized. People feel so divided and so far apart. I think the one thing that should be like at a 100% approval rating is like Stephanie talks too much about the damn plane. You know, Democrats, Republicans, libertarians, we, can we all agree that Stephanie needs to shut up about the damn plane? It's too much. But so that's like, seems to be the real reason that Marisol and Alexi. like don't want to go because they're like sick of hearing about the plane.
Starting point is 00:17:10 They feel like it's been dangled. But then like when Stephanie talks to Marisol about it, she kind of like backs off a little bit and it's like, well, you know, like, I just want to spend a day with my friend and it's been busy and blah, blah, blah, blah, blah. And it's like, okay, but that's not what you, okay. Because she's writing the text when they're on the roof and it's like, look, that house in Marbea looks gorgeous. Gertie says it's White Lotus vibes. I think, again, people forget seemingly that on every season of the White Lotus, at least one person dies. It's beautiful, you know, there's beautiful seafood, and there's gay guys and, you know, being hosted by gay guys. And Lisa's announcing her divorce, and she's loving that there's, she's like, she's like, uh, yes, because we only drink Dom and we only eat beluga.
Starting point is 00:17:57 And it's like, girl, not anymore. You're divorced. You don't get the, who's paying for your, for your, Don Pernion after today. But I actually think I would have chosen staying in Seville for a day with no plans because there is something so wonderful. And if you haven't done this, I really recommend it. Just like being somewhere without much to do, being somewhere amazing and just kind of going
Starting point is 00:18:24 with the flow and like, oh, we'll find a cute place for lunch. We'll walk around a little bit. We'll maybe do a little bit of shopping. We'll maybe get dessert before dinner and be a little bad. Marisol and Alexia looked like they had a lovely day in Sivia, without the rest of the women. Meanwhile, over in Marbeah, you're forced to be on, you know, the scary ladies plane and then listen to Julia and also Lisa's making an announcement.
Starting point is 00:18:53 Like, I would rather chill in Civil for the day. I got to be honest. but when they come back it's not great I mean Steph is just like Steph is having a little bit of a tough time because Julia Julia's telling Steph
Starting point is 00:19:08 you know your delivery is kind of bossy and that's kind of the issue Marisol is referencing that Steph with the plane has had a mini Mussolini moment which is just when you're getting compared to Mussolini for the way that you are
Starting point is 00:19:23 handling group logistics I mean the plane might run on time, but at what cost? It's not so good. And Steph, when Julia says that she's kind of bossy, she goes, I'm not that bossy. It's like, well, I mean, if that's kind of, if we're having to set the bar at like what degree of bossiness you're bringing to the group, that's just not an energy that people are going to like with their friends. Case in point, back in Seville, when the whole group is back and they're doing their flamenco day. And, you know, Marisol and Julia have arranged this you know, flamenco birthday serenade for Stephanie in the middle of the plaza,
Starting point is 00:20:05 like, which, again, these like arranged serenades that we're having on this trip. I'm like, I guess that's nice, I suppose. Allegedly there was going to be like more of a cake or something later, but we don't get to that point because all hell breaks loose. But, you know, it was nice. They're all in their flamenco dress. The dresses are gorgeous. The dress, if nothing else, gorgeous gowns.
Starting point is 00:20:27 Gorgeous gowns, I mean disastrous group dynamics. but, you know, the dresses are pretty. But Steph pulls Alexia for a chat to use the Love Island parlance after the birthday serenade. When they're just like, they do the birthday thing, they're riding around in the carriage, and then the activity is seemingly just like, oh, let's like wander around this building for a little bit. Perfect time to pull your frenemy for a chat. And she's like, can you just explain to me what happened with this Marbea situation and
Starting point is 00:20:56 you not wanting to come on the plane? because I thought that last night we were having, you know, so much fun. And they should, when it's Larsa, you know, joking about how she speaks so soft. And they're like, the house is on fire. It's like, yeah, you guys weren't like actually getting along. You were just kind of like trauma bonding because Kiki and Adriana had been yelling so much at dinner. But Alexia's like, you know, if you're asking me about what happened with me and Marisol, why are you pulling me for this conversation without Marisol?
Starting point is 00:21:23 And we just wanted to have a day together. And, you know, it's not. that serious and blah, blah, blah, blah, blah. And Steph's reaction immediately is showing why she's having such a tough time in this group because she goes, so here's how it's coming. Here's what's coming to me. This is what, this is what it's going to be. And Alexia's like not even, she's like, yeah, the way you're speaking to me, I'm good.
Starting point is 00:21:49 I'm good on that. No, no thanks on the tone. It's not, it's not so good. and Steph just like doesn't, I don't think she understands. And I'm not saying, I don't think that new housewives should have to like kiss the ring and fully just like submit to, you know, being hazed or being like, you know, the lowest on the totem pole all the time and like having no kind of backbone in the group. I don't think that's what I want out of my new housewives. but I don't think Stephanie seems to compute that she is not using an effective strategy for communicating with the women in this group. Marisol and Alexia see themselves as the top dogs of this group.
Starting point is 00:22:41 And whether or not you agree with that or whether or not you want to revere them as the top dogs in the group, you have to keep in your mind that that is how they see themselves. So if you want to have a productive conversation with them, maybe actually acknowledging that or, you know, giving them an inch there is going to give you a lot more leeway to kind of make your point. And it seems like Steph just like can't take a step back and look at the game board and be like, oh, actually, I'm going to have a lot more success. If I play nice for 10 minutes here and respond to Alexio in a tone,
Starting point is 00:23:19 that she is going to appreciate. Because from the second Steph opens her mouth, and I'm not saying Alexia was like approaching this conversation with the utmost openness and compassion. But Alexia is just like, yeah, immediately no. And Stephanie's like, well, you told everyone that I dangle the plane. And Alexei's like, you do do that. You do do that.
Starting point is 00:23:42 Why are you going to be mad at me when you do that? And like, I mean, roll footage in the words of Lisa Barlow. like the plane has been dangled. And I think that Steph is like, she's acting like she didn't threaten to leave people behind on the plane if they acted out. And she's like, what kind of person do you? You think I'm actually going to, you know, I'm going to make you blah, blah, blah, blah, blah. And it's like you literally said that.
Starting point is 00:24:07 You said that and you brought it up actually multiple times. And this whole trip from before the trip, the whole time you've been doing this game of musical chairs and chess and checkers and whatever of who gets to go on the plane what's the seating chart on the plane what are the rules for the plane this is jettiquet oh you're so mad that i told you you have to like you take off your shoes and throw your toilet paper in the trash and and that you you're not supposed to scrape the seats i'm so sorry that i said all that and it's like it's not about the rules it's about the way that you're presenting it and i mean like as somebody like I don't have any friends who are, you know, deciding whether or not to invite me on their jet.
Starting point is 00:24:49 But if I did, I don't think I would want to put up with this shit. It doesn't sound fun. And Alexia is telling Lisa that, Lisa and Julia, that Steph is trying to create conflict in the group and, like, contributing to driving her apart with Larsa, which I, I mean, maybe. It's, I guess, that could be. Marisol is stressed about how divided the group is because they have this cruise coming. coming up with her friend Richard Branson. Now, I don't actually think Richard Branson is going to be on the cruise. Maybe I'm mistaken, but we do see Marisol facetiming her friend Dick Branson.
Starting point is 00:25:23 And as a wedding gift to Marisol and Steve, Richard Branson is sending Marisol and the ladies on a two-night cruise. Now, this smacks of, I call bullshit. it. This cruise is like a product placement for Virgin Voyages, which is like Richard Branson's company. But like, why would the wedding present cruise be a cruise with your friends and not your husband? Also, it's a two-night cruise to nowhere, which I can't wait to see. But question marks there. Question marks all around. But, you know, a poignant final moment in Sivia, as they're like fighting on the roof, there's this like funeral procession going past. And they're like, you
Starting point is 00:26:10 So this is the sign that this group needs to come to Jesus. And Steph says, please, Jesus, don't let me bleed out. I got a lot of knives in my back. I just don't, I don't really see that. Like, I don't, has anyone backstabbed Stephanie? Nothing, like, nothing has happened to her. People are annoyed with her because she has been annoying. Like, if you do the crime, you do the time.
Starting point is 00:26:39 Like, if you, if you dangle the jet and I say, sorry, I don't want the jet anymore, that's not backstabbing. That's like becoming annoyed and reacting accordingly. I would do the same thing. We will see if Stephanie uses this time that she has left next time. Actually, she did post over the weekend that she went to like drag brunch or something. And she was like trying to clap back at the haters who say that she's not fun. And she's like, that seemed pretty fun, huh? It's like, girl, okay, like, congratulations.
Starting point is 00:27:11 You took a weekend day off from being the boss at Shoma and went to brunch. Like, if you have to tell everybody how fun you are, you maybe aren't that fun. I don't think the issue is that nobody thinks Stephanie has fun in her life. It's that she doesn't seem like a fun person. You can overcome that, though. I mean, Emily Simpson, once upon a time, it was. Where's fun, Emily? I think Emily seems really fun now.

Starting point is 00:28:42 This was kind of the, um, this felt like the peak. of the blogger conversation because really this this week's episode hinges on two scenes if you want to call it that one scene and one kind of extended whatever it starts I mean well it starts before this but the first thing that's really important is Gina and Gretchen meeting up with the much discussed Kiki Monique now this scene I think people are going to have a lot of mixed reactions to the existence of this scene because it feels like we have sort of crossed a bridge into the great unknown of like, okay, so the quote unquote blogger is now a character on the show, which is, it could be a slippery slope, but I think in this case, we kind of had to do it. We had to hear, you know, we've heard Gretchen's side of the story. We've heard Katie's side of the story.
Starting point is 00:29:39 And unfortunately, in this case, we need Kiki Monique side of the story. And so she delivers this to Gretchen and Katie. She confirms basically, you know, exactly what we have heard and what Katie has denied, which is that Katie did tell her that at this dinner with Jen and Gretchen, that Gretchen said that she had gone to the hospital, the night of naked wasted, and that there were drugs found in her system. She confirms this. Gretchen is shocked, but her face doesn't show it, you know, not moving an inch. that Botox is fresh. She's like, you're saying that she said that?
Starting point is 00:30:22 She's frozen in time. She really is. And she, again, is like, I said, you know, I would have said that 17 years ago if it was true. And wow, I feel like I've just been betrayed by Katie. I mean, like, yeah, the writing was on the wall. Gretchen was really the only person who didn't want to see that. But now she has.
Starting point is 00:30:40 Now she feels betrayed. You know, Katie loses one of her last kind of two remaining friends. And then Kiki says, and Gina was a topic too. Record scratch. Gina was a topic too. So there's this, Kiki gives us like an extra story where she says that Katie told her about this time where, you know, she was wearing an Asian designer and Gina asked about it in a way that kind of came across as racist.
Starting point is 00:31:13 She was saying, oh, are you wearing an Asian designer? That's kind of how Kiki says that Katie said that Gina said it. Again, this game of telephone that we cannot get out from under. And so Gina's kind of response to this is she's saying, well, I thought that when Katie wanted to come on the show and said that she wanted to showcase Asian designers, I thought that was really cool. And then it turned out that she got these stylists and she started wearing all this Balman and different, you know, Fendi and the same designers that every other housewife is wearing or is, you know, says they're wearing, but maybe it's, you know, from, you know, Alibaba or whatever. So, Gina's saying that when she said it, it was like, oh, I thought you said you wanted to celebrate your culture, but you're not. And so it's almost like a dig of like, oh, you're wearing Balman and I'm going to be like, oh, is that an Asian designer? And obviously the answer is no. Now, Gina's explanation of it obviously is different than kind of Katie's portrayal. I still don't think that it's like the greatest, I mean, like, it's probably
Starting point is 00:32:23 something that Gina just shouldn't have said either way, that it's like, okay, so like you're going to drag her for not wearing an Asian designer. What are you wearing? Like, I don't think that's, I don't think that's like quite the serve that Gina thinks it is. But at the same time, I also, I think that maybe Katie is like spinning it out a certain way, but it's, it's complicated. But Kiki, you know, long story short, she says like she felt like she was being fed information by Katie because she thought she would do something with it. So she's, you know, closing the loop here, letting Gina know, and, you know, you already know what's going to come up again. And really the next thing, the rest of the episode is Emily's Persian New Year party,
Starting point is 00:33:04 which is just like a sad, sad excuse for a party. Because Persian New Year sounds like it should be one of the most exciting events of the season. You know, there should be great music happening, food, entertainment, you know, just lots of people. And it is like seven women at a house in the middle of the day with like a charcutory board and some decorations. There's no music. There's no fun. There's no dancing. There's no vibe.
Starting point is 00:33:31 it's really just a ruse to get everyone in the same place for these polygraph tests. And this is such a, I just love when, like, Housewives will take one comment and turn it into a whole, you know, farce. Because in New Orleans, Katie said, when she was being accused of lying, she said, I will take a lie detector test. And Emily said, okay, bet. Okay, come to my, okay, come to my house. okay, in my spare bedroom, we're building a whole polygraph studio, baby. You're not going to know what hit you.
Starting point is 00:34:09 And bringing everyone to your house under the guise of a Persian New Year party when actually you're just going to ambush them with a lie detector test where you guys get to write the questions is so devious. And like, I love it. But also, like, I wish that Persian New Year had been like a real party that was, you know, not like an afterthought for. lie detector test. But anyway, they get there and immediately they have these like packets to fill out where they're writing out questions for each person that's supposed to be anonymous, that it's like
Starting point is 00:34:41 the questions that the polygraph is going to ask. And Heather's telling Gina and Emily about her meeting with Tamara and, you know, they're all getting frustrated with her playing the victim about people not checking in on her. And Emily's like, you know, I didn't think Tamara was going to come. But now I'm scared she's going to come and she's going to show up angry. And it's like, was she invited or was she not? Tamara's there. Obviously she was invited. But, you know, Katie is super awkward because she feels like she's on the outs with everyone. Again, very perceptive of her. She's so stressed out that she, I think, throws up a little bit in the bathroom. Tough stuff. But, you know, everybody's kind of like on edge this day because Tamara hasn't seen anyone since New Orleans except Heather. So she's freaking out a little bit. Gretchen is like, oh, I don't know how to feel because, you know, I'm seeing Katie. for the first time. Jen feels like she's kind of awkwardly stuck in the middle between Katie and Gretchen because she's not trying to defend everything that Katie has said,
Starting point is 00:35:41 but then also she knows that Gretchen is potentially maybe lying about this naked-wasted thing. Everybody's already like not feeling so great, except for Gina and Emily, who are like, this is going to be the most pivotal day in the history of our group. We are going to get the rat. And the weird thing, though, is that it feels like they are going through this whole song and dance of doing the polygraph when they have already made up their mind that the rat is Katie and that Katie is a liar who's going to be, you know, cast out from the group. And I mean, it turns out, spoiler, the polygraph results are in. And if you believe the polygraph results, Katie's the liar and Katie's the rat.
Starting point is 00:36:27 and Katie, in fact, does sort of get voted out of the group. Watching them take the lie detector test is pretty funny. They ask some, like, silly questions in there that I just enjoy. And then they time it. So there's two different polygraphs. There's a man and a woman tester. I think I would rather have the woman, because I just think it would feel like more of a safe space to me than, like,
Starting point is 00:36:50 some man just, like, grilling me about my personal life. But Gretchen and Katie, of course, take their polygraph. at the same time. And so we get like a, or at least they edit it that way. So we get like a really just like thrilling kind of sequence of them back to back answering their questions in just like absolute opposite ways. And then after Katie leaves the exam room or like the exam, I don't know, tent that's popped up in Emily's, you know, guest room. The lady polygraph expert. Oh my God. That's. That's. That's. It's. It's. It's like I'm like a 50-year-old man.
Starting point is 00:37:29 The lady polygraph expert, the woman who's conducting the test, she goes, she's so full of shit. Is that like malpractice to say that when you're being filmed as a polygraph expert? Is that a real job? I'm sorry, if you're listening and you're like a polygraph tester for a living, no shade. But like they're not admissible in court, I don't think. I don't know. I digress. So Tamara, we get the results and some of them are more illuminating than others.
Starting point is 00:38:03 Tamara says yes that she contacted Slade's X for information, but then she kind of explains it away. She's like, well, I mean, we did talk, but I can't remember she reached out or if I reached out, but I wanted just like context or whatever. And Gretchen's like, shady Tamara. She's never going to admit that she's wrong. It's like, well, okay, she didn't have to. it is it is proven that Jen does trust Katie and that she didn't befriend Tamara
Starting point is 00:38:33 with ulterior motives good for her but she fails the question about having serious reservations about marrying Ryan she says she doesn't it's deemed a lie and in her confessional I was kind of gagged
Starting point is 00:38:47 because she's like you know it makes sense that that was that I failed that question because you know my divorce was really rough So I just am, you know, I'm worried that that's going to happen to my kids again and I don't want that to happen. And I'm like, baby girl, nobody's forcing you to do anything. If you're, if you're with a man who you have, quote, serious reservations is going to do the same thing to you that your, you know, horrible ex-husband did, don't marry him. You, you don't have to wear that bikini on the beach and say, I do, nobody is forcing you to do this.
Starting point is 00:39:22 you can walk away or you can just stay with him as boyfriend and girlfriend and not get married. It's okay, Jen. I just, I feel bad for her. Shannon says that she maybe wants a friendship with Tamara, which is deemed true, even though I don't think that's not this works. It's like, you didn't say yes, you said maybe. But that's complicated. Heather admits that she would rather be on real hostages of Beverly Hills, which she passes. And she's like, you guys, it's closer to where I live.
Starting point is 00:39:54 My commute would be easier. And it's like, right, I'm sure that that is all it's about. The interesting thing that I feel like we don't actually get to talk about a lot is that she fails the question about calling the paparazzi at Disneyland. She failed it. Now, Heather still says that she didn't. That's the thing. Everybody's getting caught in lies and still being like, well, it's not a lie. I told the truth.
Starting point is 00:40:15 It's like, okay. Either we're, if we're taking Katie's lies at face value, then we don't just get to discard everybody else's. If I'm supposed to believe that this is proof that Katie told Kiki about Gretchen being hospitalized, that she played the recording of Shannon for Alexis, and that she, that Gretchen did not say that she was drugged and went to the hospital, then I also feel like I should believe that Heather did call the paparazzi and that Jen has, reservations about marrying Ryan. We can't have it both ways, people. But anyway, Katie does, in fact, fail with flying colors. Is that a thing failing with flying colors? Gretchen passes. She told the truth about not being drugged and not going to the hospital, which, of course, is paired with
Starting point is 00:41:04 another flashback of her saying the opposite to Shannon and Tamara. We will just apparently never get clarity on that. I'm like, Shannon and Tamara, stand up. Why are you not saying, hey, we were being filmed in the car when you said this to us point blank period. That's frustrating to me. She also passes the question about not planting stories about Tamara. Suffice it to say, this is potentially the final nail in the coffin for Katie. Everyone's saying, oh, she's a liar. She lost her credibility. Gina uses this moment to bring up the comment about Asian designers. It's like, girl, not now. You don't have to do this. It's not going to make you look as good as you think. But anyway, they tell Katie maybe she should just leave, scram, get out of here.
Starting point is 00:41:50 Katie's on the street. She's like, I didn't lie. Producer Kendall, I didn't lie. It's just, it's too late at this point. Because the thing is like, whether or not you believe the polygraph results 100%, whether or not you like Katie. And that's the thing. It's not, in this case, I don't think it's about liking Katie or not.
Starting point is 00:42:09 Or even thinking that Katie is like a good housewife. It's like, did she lie? yes, she lied. She lied about certain things. She made certain choices that didn't, you know, end well for her in the group. And this is the result. And unfortunately, I mean, I don't necessarily, I'm not thrilled if she's going to be gone the rest of the season because what else are we talking about? I don't know.
Starting point is 00:42:34 But she, I mean, I do think she kind of dug her own grave a little bit if this is, in fact, you know, the grave right now. But that's where we leave off. It's to be continued. And I'm like, what's continuing? The party ended. She left. But anyway, we will find out next week, I suppose. Thank you so much for listening.
