Betches Media presents.
Ha ha, laugh, funny.
Mention It All, a Bravo by Betches podcast.
We don't say that, but now we said it.
With me, Dylan Hafer.
We're going to check me, though.
Hey, everyone.
Welcome back to the Mention It All podcast.
I'm Dylan Hafer, and I am so excited to be joined on this gloomy Monday by a guest who is a favorite of mine,
but I think it's been a while since she has been on the Mention It All couch desk,
It's been a minute.
Whatever you call it.
Please welcome back.
Amanda Doberman.
Hi, Amanda.
Thank you.
I'm sorry for interrupting you during your intro.
As another person who anchors a podcast, the idea of not speaking whenever I want during a podcast is hard to fathom.
Yes.
So if you're unaware, Amanda is the brains behind the Betches Sub podcast.
So you usually get a lot of thoughts out there about politics and injustices that are happening all
over the world. And today, we get to talk about justice that is being done. And that is
Sonia and Luann's return to Bravo. Finally, finally, finally, finally, some justice, some restorative
justice on this Godforsaken planet. I'm very interested to get your thoughts on Welcome to Crappy Lake.
But before we get there, I want to talk about what's going on with Kyle Richards. It has been a saga
over the last week.
It's crazy that it was literally just one week ago today that the report came out that
she and Maricio have separated.
Since then, there's been a little bit of confusion about what the actual situation is.
But over the weekend, something happened that kind of rubbed me the wrong way.
And that was that page six posted this article.
And it's a photo of Kyle with Morgan Wade.
If you haven't been keeping up, Morgan Wade is the woman who Kyle says she is close friends
with, but people are, you know, deciding to think that they have a relationship beyond that going on.
So it's a photo of them walking together. And Kyle sort of looks like she's like, you know, putting her
hand in front of her face. And the headline is, Kyle Richards attempts to hide her face while
hanging out with Morgan Wade amid dating rumors. You know, this pops up. You're like, oh, wow, all of
this stuff is happening. And while all of this stuff is happening, here they are just flaunting their,
you know, friendship or whatever.
But then Kyle responded to the post on Instagram and said,
this photo is from April when Morgan was in town performing at my
Nami event for Real Housewives of Beverly Hills.
She is not even in California and I am not hiding my face.
Please stop.
Morgan also replied saying, hey, at Summerfest, can you let these folks know?
I was playing a killer set yesterday in Milwaukee.
If there's one thing Kyle's going to do, it's respond.
She cannot help herself.
I'm not on Ozempic, and that was in April.
I'm not on Ozempic.
That was in April.
There was another time last week.
She posted this photo in Aspen that was like parting in such sweet sorrow.
And of course, this immediately got written up that it's like Kyle Richards posts cryptic
caption amid split rumors from Maricio.
And she's like, guys, I was sad about leaving Aspen.
What?
The thing is, okay, am I interested in what's happening with Kyle and Maricio?
of course. I get paid to be interested in that. But like, I also think that it is a little bit unhinged to now, like,
you really see the tabloid machine at work. And it's a little bit, it's a little bit like, guys, we got a, we got to scale it back just like two notches.
Right. It's like, I wonder if the same author who wrote that one, wrote the story that went viral last week about like Kevin Costner's wife from 30 years ago, go shopping after their marriage blows up.
That had me dying.
It's like, why is this relevant at all?
It's like some editor is just like, we can get a bunch of page views if we make this look
like it happened yesterday and we tie it to something everybody cares about today.
But it is for people, you know, people don't have good media literacy, Dylan.
Like I saw that on page six and I was like, oh, they're together right now.
I did not do that.
I did not do that investigating that you do here.
Well, I mean, to be honest, I feel like I dodged a bullet because I didn't see it until
the first time I saw that headline was Kyle debunking it.
That's good.
good for her. You know, I was in the right place at the right time to get the correct information.
But unfortunately, what happens is that, you know, if you're on Twitter, you're on Instagram,
whatever, you see one thing. And then that's the story that is, you know, it's, if you see a headline,
if you're just a Bravo fan, like, it's not really your responsibility to automatically assume that
it's false and then do some digging to prove that it's false. Like that should be something that is
being handled before the story makes it to the public.
Yes.
We're doing enough with trying to figure out which tweets are real.
Like when it comes to our Bravo news, surely we should be able to trust that there is no,
that there is no fake news.
But Dylan, why do you think this has become like, do you think it's like the, because like
the G flip and Crochelle of it all, it feels like it's like another thing like that?
Like, why are people so interested in this angle of it?
I think that Kyle is somebody who has been on TV for.
a really long time and has always presented a pretty a pretty stable image of one thing.
You know, she's always felt like somebody who is in a marriage where she loves her husband and
she's never going to say otherwise. And that she's like this, you know,
caftan wearing girl's girl who, you know, just loves handbags and shoes and jewelry. And like,
I don't mean to sound like that's like, you know, all that there is to her. But that it's like,
She's never really wavered from who she presents on the show.
And so I think the idea that there could be this kind of, you know, midlife shift for her of like, I'm 50.
I'm hot and I'm going to date girls.
Like I understand why that seems like an exciting prospect.
But I think that people are just like severely jumping the gun in terms of thinking that it's real.
And I think, you know, if it does turn.
out to be real at some point that, you know, I think it's perfectly acceptable. I mean,
Criselle and G Flip is like an extremely fun development. And Chrisel seems extremely happy. And,
you know, G Flip seems like a great person for Crishel to be with at this point in her life.
But like, there's not, you can't just like copy paste that onto Kyle Richards. Totally. That's how it's
an interesting point. Like if it were like Brandy or even maybe Tamara who suddenly started dating,
a woman, like it wouldn't be as, I don't think it would be as big of a deal. It's because she has been
like a very specific type of person, the type of person where like, the type of person where you can
imagine like even like when all the other ladies are probably like drunk and want to do a fake
make out, you can imagine her being like, no, no, no. And now it just, yeah, it doesn't necessarily,
it doesn't seem consistent with anything she's presented about herself, which makes it like
especially irresistible. And probably why page six was like, let's find this, this picture from April and
people will eat it up. Yeah, Kyle's Girls Gone Wild, tendencies end with doing the splits and like
whipping her hair around.
Exactly.
I, yeah, no, I'm, I'm really curious to see kind of how this continues to develop because it
definitely seems like she and Mauricio are in some phase of figuring their shit out, whether
that ends with them being together or not TBD.
But like, I, I'm curious to see kind of how, now that it's out there, if they just from,
from here on out, do they present United Front from now until the end of time and we never
get any more details. I could see that. But also, I could see her taking this opportunity to really
open up and kind of make herself more interesting. Because I think there are people who are obsessed
with Kyle. And there are a lot of people who are kind of like, look, she's a great housewife,
but like kind of a boring person. Yeah. Yeah. The first thing I thought of when the article came out
about them separating was that time when we were in the office and Jordana came in and she was like,
I saw Mauricio walking around wearing a Louis Vuitton backpack and smoking a cigarette.
And I was like, that is, that's giving recently separated.
That is giving, if anything gives recently separated energy, it is that.
It is. It is, I, it's funny.
That was literally like two weeks ago.
Yeah.
Like within days before this story came out.
Totally.
You know, I guess he was having one last cigarette before going to Aspen.
But it's okay.
Pitch six did delete that article, which I guess, you know, credit to them for doing something.
I don't know.
But then they also over, over the weekend, they posted another.
article. Kyle Richards has Girls Night with Teddy Mellencamp amid marital woes with Maricio
Umanski. So like, you know, if it's not one story, it's going to be another one. And I think
they probably have, you know, ammo in the tank in terms of like keeping the Kyle Richards content
pipeline filled for now. Yeah. Those nonsensical headlines are never going to get past Dylan.
Like the one last week where it was like the guy from the bear, it was like, he goes grocery
shopping amid Selina Gomez dating rumors. Like, it's just so funny what they'll put together. Like,
these things are not related. Yeah. The, the like, um,
Amid language really does a lot of work in these celebrity headlines because it'll be like,
like that Kevin Costner one that you mentioned is like perfect.
It's like 30 years after and it's like, so much.
Okay, I guess.
It's like just because.
Or a woman just live in her life.
It's like, remember when your marriage grew up?
The only place you could get photos of someone is at the grocery store, but that doesn't
mean that the grocery shopping is like, hashtag emotional.
Right.
Right.
Oh, God.
I love it.
I love celebrity culture.
What would we do without it?
I know, I know.
So good, so good, so good.

Okay, let's talk about welcome to Crappy Lake.
Two episodes premiered on Bravo last night.
It's a 30-minute show, which I love.
Bravo is not really given us like a short show like this in a long time.
And when I got to watch the first couple episodes a while ago,
and when I first opened up the screener and saw 21 minutes, I was like, oh, hell, yeah.
We're here.
This is good.
Perfect.
For some color for the listeners.
and I was so excited to watch this because, you know, Dylan sometimes for work,
often he watches these shows for work.
So he was watching, he was watching something in the office.
I don't think anyone knew exactly what.
The boisterous laughter, like you have never heard from this man.
Like, I've never heard you laugh like that.
And I was like, what are you watching?
And you were like, I'm watching Welcome to Crappy Lake.
Just for the 21 plus 21, 41, 42 minutes, just laughter.
And I was like, this is the best endorsement of this show.
I cannot wait.
And I did watch it this morning.
And yeah, I can't wait to talk about it.
within the first few minutes when they're like preparing themselves to go on this experience
Luan pulling out this like piece of jewelry and saying look it's a wazoo and blow it's a it's a it's like a gold kazoo I don't even know
she's packing she's bringing a Louis Vuitton box because the motel room isn't going to have much storage
sonia is with an intern and she just got liposuction and so she has these like drainage
bags attached to her body and then she it felt so good I was like so happy to just see them
bumbling around their apartments with their assistance it was like it was like a warm hug that
smelled like cigarettes and white wine and it felt so good like exactly I mean that is the
perfect thing and obviously it's been like two years almost since their iteration of Roney ended
and it's been longer than that since they filmed Roney together
So really, since we saw Luann and Sonia in their element in New York, it's been a really long time.
Like, multiple cycles of Housewives seasons have passed since then.
And so just to get that little glimpse of the townhouse and, you know, Luanne's apartment that overlooks Harry Tubin's apartment.
Like those types of things, it's like, oh, wow, we really, we used to be a proper country.
And now we don't fix to the townhouse except for one, like, two-minute little blip.
but this experience that they're signing up for.
So I got to chat with them a while ago.
And so they were there for six weeks.
Staying in these motel rooms.
I think they were getting like,
I think they were getting like one,
maybe two days off a week because they said that on some of their days off,
they went to like St. Louis and Nashville.
Like they were able,
they weren't like locked in the motel.
I think it's like it's not like they're on Survivor.
Like they're still like,
in the world.
But the fact,
one of my favorite editing touches for the show is they keep showing what the weather is.
Like the temperature and the humidity will flash across the screen.
And it's like temperature 94 degrees.
Humidity 90%.
And you just are like,
you feel it as you're watching.
You're like,
oh my God,
these women must be sticky.
You feel it especially because you know they want so badly not to be.
They're like, you know, they're like my makeups.
They're like, it is a crisis.
It is a crisis.
Watching them in the second episode when they go to the Civic Center to meet with the theater director,
watching them at 9.30 a.m.
in their full sequin dresses and glam and heels driving across town, like they are,
I respect so much that they are fully bringing their whole selves unfiltered to this experience.
because like every single moment almost is this juxtaposition that's just like so out of,
it just like it feels like you're watching something out of reality.
Like it's so, it's so wild.
But they are, they do seem to be, because there were parts of it watching it where I would start
to get a little bit anxious, like, are they going to be rude?
But they seem to be on their best behavior.
Like I think that Luanne and Sonia, and I'm curious what you think, I think they are
naturally pretty kind people.
like when Luana's been in the office, she's like that. Like she's very, she's, she's on. She wants,
she's very likable, like she's very charismatic. I'm sure they're doing it for the cameras too,
but they appear to be like genuinely kind to these people. They don't seem to look down on them,
which is like not what I expected. I agree. I think the thing with them is that obviously
they come from a world where they are used to different things than they're getting in Benton,
Illinois. But it doesn't feel like they are mad about it.
Like they, they on some level clearly knew what they were signing up for and were game for it.
And I think that's kind of what makes the show work.
Because I think when you when you think about, and I talk to them, they basically said that the producer who we see on the show who's from Benton, like had the idea for this show and basically went to Bravo.
And Bravo basically was like, who should we have do this?
And Bravo picked Sonia and Luan.
And thinking about that, it's like, it's fun.
to think about all the different combinations that you could have come up with, but a lot of the people
that are the most iconic housewives just would not be down for this. Thinking about somebody like
Ramona, for example, just, you know, who these women hang out with. Romona would be so hard to watch.
Absolute nightmare. Even somebody like, thinking about like Karen Hugar, I think Karen Hugar is one of
the funniest, most entertaining people. But like, she would be.
She would be miserable.
She would not be down for that.
She would not be having a good time.
Some of these women can't even have a good time and be nice to people on the ultimate
girls trip.
And you've seen that.
Exactly. So I feel like that was the big contrast.
I think with Sonia and Luann, it's kind of the perfect mix of, yes, they are out of place.
Yes, they're going to be ridiculous.
And they, you know, bring their fancy jewelry and outfits to this small town.
but they're also going to feel like they're committed to it and like it's not going to be like,
I'm a celebrity, get me out of here.
And I think that dynamic wouldn't have, it would feel kind of gross if you were watching just
them be like, this shitty fucking motel.
I can't believe we have to sleep on these beds.
How many more weeks are we here?
I can't believe we have to pretend to like these fucking people.
Like that would be kind of a miserable watching experience, I think, too.
And so watching people that are just fully committed to it.
And, you know, I think that's why it works.
Yeah.
They really, these two really, and I had a thought I was watching this because they were,
they were noting some of the dates.
And I think they filmed this summer of last year, right?
Yeah.
So that would have been before they started negotiating, at least with Luan,
about any Rony legacy stuff.
So in retrospect, I'm kind of like, I see why Luan was hustling for a bigger paycheck.
Like, I think she's great in this.
Like, she, like, yes, we're talking about, like, it's not that hard to be nice to people
in a small town, but, like, she caught a.
catfish in a gross lake with her bare hands under water. That is, that's kind of iconic.
Like, I told you, I had full body chills. I was like, I am, am I a Luann Stan? What is happening to me?
Watching her emerge from the water with that catfish was it just, because that's the kind of thing where it's like, you can't phone it in.
No. They could have gone to the Civic Center and sat through the auditions. That's not that bad. Maybe the AC isn't, you know, as crisp as they
would like in there. But overall, it's like, that's not the deal. They're fine. Yeah.
But the fact that they're going to do the fishing, they're going to go mudding. They're going to,
you know, build the playground question mark. That's on the list. Like, yeah, there are, there is a
certain level of willingness to just kind of like commit to the bit. And I love like in the motel
rooms. Do you see them like setting up shop there a little bit? Like Luann is like, oh God,
the closet's so small.
like where am I going to put on my stuff? Oh, bins, bins, I'll get bins. And it's like,
it's like they're moving into a college dorm room. And then they immediately go to Sonia,
who is just the long lost, like, Grey Garden sister. She's just Eighty-three, like chaos. But I will
say she does seem, like her mind seems a little healthier these days. And I don't know if that's
because we haven't seen her really drunk yet in this. But like, she's making sense. She's being nice.
she's I'm not um again I'm not like worried the whole time watching it so far like oh my god oh my god
what's what's going to happen what's going to happen and granted like the real housewives a lot of
the settings are designed for them to like party and get in fights and maybe that's the difference but
I'm just surprised how how like easy it's been to watch and how much I'm like not stressed about
these women yeah I think the last couple seasons of Roney that happened sonia would obviously
she's like the life of the party the straw that stirs the drink etc etc etc like we
we love her for that, but it can it can tip easily into the place where it's like, oh, you're just belligerent and like at somebody else's house and like yelling or like in the middle of a corn maze kind of looking lost.
Like there are some moments where it's like there is a really fine line and I think it's, I don't blame anyone for struggling to kind of maintain the balance.
I think we see this with Derinda too, that she can be so far.
fun and so gregarious and then all of a sudden kind of a switch flips and it's not fun anymore.
But yeah, I think with with this environment, I think maybe having a little bit of time out of the
spotlight has been good for Sonia, but also I think it just is, it's a little bit lower stakes
environment where she can kind of just have a good time, but not be like, you don't have like
Ramona or somebody else who's kind of almost looking down on her in this town.
Yeah, totally.
it is very funny to me that they sort of frame it as like oh yeah we we want to you know help we want to improve the financial health of this town let's bring in sonia morgan who can't improve the financial health of a piggy bank please so i would love i would love sonya morgan to focus on her own financial health and then and then help others it's like put your own uh put your own oxygen mask on before get your own tester oven on the market before oh my god i know it's it's kind of wild but i
I think it's like so funny.
The idea that they're helping this town recover after COVID is kind of like,
it feels silly,
but also it's just enough of like an actual reason for this show to happen versus just like,
we're going to bring rich people and they're going to laugh at us being poor and stupid.
Like I did like I was losing it at the very beginning when Luann's like,
well, you know, Sonia and I love doing charity together.
I'm even wearing a Sonia Morgan dress right now.
That was too much.
But aren't there rumors that she has joke writers?
Is that a thing that some of the housewives?
I don't know.
I've heard,
I don't know who says that.
But I've heard there's like, if you don't think so, then it's probably not a thing.
But I think like on Lost Cultch they've referenced like or maybe on bitch ses like, yeah,
don't they have like people that they hire to give them one-liners?
But I can see like, Luann's funny.
I would not be surprised.
I have talked in the past about how I think there.
should be if there's not a whole cottage industry of like reality TV consultants where it's like
I come in and I like coach you for the reunion or I I get you kind of like ready to go.
And I think that's something where like obviously these two women have like a great chemistry
together and are very kind of naturally silly and outgoing. But but the the confessionals and stuff
are like funny in a way that you're right. Like I don't know if Luana's really.
out here like, you know.
That was so funny. That was too funny.
And also what's funny about it is that like, you know Sony would laugh at that too.

One of my favorite details that I caught because I've now seen the episode twice is the
motel sign that they're putting up, the first thing we see is they're putting up and it
says, welcome Hollywood, period, because I guess they don't have an exclamation point for the little
signboard.
And then later we see it says, welcome Hollywood with three question marks when they actually
when they actually arrive at the motel, you can see in the background that they've updated it to just say, welcome special guests.
Oh, my God. That is hilarious. That's iconic. I loved when they land in the way, it's like, oh, it's a demonstration. It's like, what does she think people are protesting? Her ass? Like, nobody cares that much.
It is the townspeople. I sound like I'm describing like a community theater production of Beauty and the Beast. I'm like the townspeople.
the
the residents
the Benton residents
yeah the
bent in residents
they do a really good job
of playing along
that they all know
who Sonia and Luann
are the second they step
off the plane
it's very like
on RuPaul's drag race
a lot of the time
when they bring out
like the special guests
or whatever
and it's somebody
that you know
that maybe like
50% of the people
have even heard of
and they're all like
oh my God
like oh my God
I'm such a
searching express
Ingression, totally.
Yeah.
The Benton, the Benton locals, they really, they pull through.
They make Sonia and Luann seem like genuine celebrities.
With the motel co-owner who said, oh, the most famous person we had was like an iconic deer hunter.
That's so funny.
It's so funny.
Yes, they get, they get prized deer hunters coming through Benton.
But, you know, Sonia and Luan really, really upping the stakes here.
I like also that, I guess that means that Sonia got her liposection.
specifically for this. I mean, she knew she was going to be on TV. So she probably wasn't necessarily
getting it for the Benton locals. Well, she said in an interview that she, well, she says on the show that
she like popped a stitch. And then she, what's interesting to me, I think about this show is the,
the idea that they're actually like hooking up with people in this town is a little bit was a little
surprising to me. It kind of caught me off guard that the first night that they're out at the, um, the
barn bar
They meet this guy
Billy Richard
who's in town
from Louisiana
to go mudding with his friends
and like
it's strongly implied
that Sonia like
goes home with him
and that they
you know
do
God knows what
once they get there
I don't know
I just kind of assumed
that they were like
treating this like a work trip
a little bit more
but good for them
yeah
I mean that that killed me too
there's this man
and he has a tattoo that you think says Richard on his back.
And then he explains to,
it's so funny watching Luann when,
because Luan is like,
Miss France,
you know,
and he's like,
no,
no,
it's Rashard.
It's just like,
oh, excuse me.
Yeah.
I mean,
Sonia will really,
I feel like Sonia will kind of fuck anything.
That shows interest in her.
I know.
It's,
it's funny because on Housewives of New York for the last few years,
I feel like we haven't really seen very much of the dating lives of
these people. Like there's a little bit of like a, you know, they'll be on a date here or there or maybe
they bring a guy to something. But if you think about it, like since Luann and Tom got divorced,
she was with Jacques for a long time, but we haven't really seen her in a relationship in a long time.
Sonia had Frenchie and there's some other weird dude that was kind of like hanging around.
but like Sonia has not had a partner, it seems, in quite a while that we know of.
Even Ramona, you know, since Mario got divorced, we've never really seen her in a long-term
relationship.
And so it's, it is interesting to see them kind of freely being like, oh, yeah, I'm going to
like find someone to fuck in this town.
Yeah, yeah, it is very, right.
Like, Luann's, when she was, she is very boy crazy.
Like when she described herself that way, I was like, yeah, that's her thing.
Like she just, she loves getting dressed up and being called pretty and people paying attention
her. I don't know. Maybe I've been married too long. I've been married nine months.
She is the queen of that fire station. I will just say. Absolutely. Absolutely.
She's like, what do you boys do to stay in shape around here?
Uh-huh. Uh-huh. She reminds me of like yesterday. I live in a very old neighborhood. We've talked
about this. This is why I'm moving. And yesterday there was like an old woman that was just sitting in the lobby as she does talking to the one of the young guys. She was like, what do you do you do? And he was like, oh, I work in like health care something. And then she goes, she goes, I thought you were a personal trainer. And I was like, I was like, I thought you were a personal trainer. And I was like,
Oh, that's giving.
That's giving Luan.
Like, Luan is probably just sitting in her lobby looking for like hot, hunky guys to roll by.
Wow, your arms are so big.
Your arms are so big.
You're a personal trainer.
Yes.
That is so funny.
The middle, the middle to senior aged ladies, like they don't, they don't hesitate.
They go.
They shoot their shot.
I respect that.
And I think Sonia and Luan, you know, they, they deserve this kind of, you know,
Victorit Lap, or whatever you would call it.
I'm curious if you, after watching a couple episodes, do you think that this is a format that
could have like multiple seasons or have like different people cycling through?
Or does this feel like a like, this will be a fun eight episodes and then I think we're good?
I have no idea.
As we were talking at the beginning, like I can't, I feel like they are so uniquely suited to
this that I'm sure you could probably find two other people in the universe.
I feel like the concept of like fish out of water would probably get old pretty quickly.
But like I do love this like one on one.
I do love specifically the idea of just, you know, having because there is presumably
not going to be a Roney legacy or anytime soon.
If this was like, you know, their chance to show why they should stick around in the
Real Housewives universe, so far to me they've like nailed it.
And like I'll be very sad if I don't get to keep watching them after this unless something
dramatic like happens.
It's only been two episodes.
but like the they seem to be um they're giving them a good edit and they don't have to yeah right like
I mean like we said they want this to be pleasant for everybody to watch I don't know I can see how it would
get old I can see how it could just be a novel one-off thing like how many seasons did the simple life
have did it just have one or did it like go on and on the simple life I want to say was on for like
four-ish seasons like it was definitely more than one and I think they they went to some different
kind of locales like they switched up kind of what jobs they were doing i haven't watched all of it
but i do i think that there is like there is something to be said for that like the we we've talked
about how thankfully it doesn't quite feel like oh we're we're like making fun of these people
but i think the there's only so many jokes you can make kind of and i feel like maybe that one
season is kind of the right amount to do that.
I love the idea of having something that's not ultimate girls trip to allow some people
to come back and interact in a certain context.
I don't know how many times, like you said, you can do this.
And it's so well suited to these two and their personalities because they're genuinely
like nice down for whatever people.
But I am enjoying having like something fresh that's not six women fighting all the time.
Definitely.
And I think so they they recently filmed the.
Ultimate Girls Trip Rony version, which is going to be coming out next year, I think.
Oh, right.
They are doing that.
Yes.
So, but obviously, like with Girls Trip, we've seen in the past seasons, that's going to be,
you know, seven episodes or something.
It's a week.
They're there.
And then it ends.
And I think what we were talking about at the beginning of our little recap, when they're
in their apartments and kind of in their natural habitats, like, that felt so
nostalgic to see them in those settings.
And with Girls Trip, you know, we're not going to get that either.
You know, we might get that similar like one scene of everybody packing.
And then we're off to the races.
And so I do think like, I would guess a lot of people watching probably had a similar
response to seeing them at home.
And like, I don't know if Roney Legacy is something that has like much of a future.
but it does feel like there's still like a spark there. People still care.
No, exactly. And again, like one of the reasons I found that to be such like a warm moment is because I knew that Ramona wasn't going to come in and blew it up and that Durinda wasn't going to come by and say the cruelest thing you've ever heard anybody say.
Like I knew it was just these two. And they have had problematic behavior in the past. But yeah, there is a specific alchemy I think they achieved here.
And that producer probably knew why his town was a good choice and these two were a good choice.
choice that I'm not sure how you replicate, but obviously they're having, Bravo and Peacock
are having a lot of success trying different formats with these characters. And I'm down for,
I'm down for them to keep experimenting because it's a fun way to see them. Yeah, I'm definitely,
I like the creativity that it feels like they have felt in the last couple years where it's like,
we're going to do something like this. We're going to do girls trip and switch up kind of the
theme that we're casting with. Even like, um, I thought that,
giving Leva from Southern Charm like a Vanderpump Rule style spinoff, I thought, worked out well.
Whereas like in the past, some of the spinoffs that they've tried to do, it's just like,
if you love this person on Housewives, let's just watch their life.
And it's like that I think is really tricky to actually make a show that people care about.
Whereas like putting Sonia in the way on in a fish out of water type of setting that has like an actual
concept that I'm interested in watching.
What if we do a whole new Summer House cast and then make Sonia and Luann like the
dead mothers?
Oh my God.
The young people would have to drag their asses home from Hampton Social.
Summerhouse has started filming again and based on what I've heard, I don't think the cast
has been shaken up as much as some people were hoping for.
That makes me tired.
But Summer House Martha's Vineyard is quite good.
So I don't know if you've, you've watched.
Of course, because of the doxen, of course.
The doxen, yeah.
Who is a prominent part of the storyline, yeah.
As a doxen mother, I have to imagine that that was an emotionally fraught show for you,
because the dachshund was not embraced by the whole house.
Right, right.
And I did not appreciate that, but as a dachshund owner, they are not always the most pleasant
animals to be around.
So I understand that.
Okay, fair play.
Well, Amanda, I have really enjoyed having you here to talk about.
Welcome to Crappy Lake.
Oh, me too.
You'll have to come back, you know, when we have something else to talk about.
Sounds great.
Sounds great.
There's lots coming up, right?
Beverly Hills has got to be coming out soon-ish, right?
Do we know?
DPD on Beverly Hills.
I think so we have Roney coming out this coming weekend.
That's right.
Oh, my gosh.
Okay.
Dubai, I'm guessing, might be next.
But Salt Lake has finished filming.
as well. Beverly Hills has done filming. There's stuff in the pipeline. Miami, I think, is done filming.
And whenever you think it might slow down, page six comes right in. There's some other melodrama
that happens that's bigger than anything that could happen on a show. I'm sure Kyle Richards and
Morgan Wade are, you know, making out in the middle of Hollywood Boulevard right now. And
Stonecolds over. Yes. I love it. I love it. Thank you so much, Amanda. And thank you
everyone for listening. Don't forget to rate, review, and follow the show wherever you listen.
