I was having The absolute worst Sunday scaries yesterday That like post holiday weekend I stayed in New York I had a very low-key Thanksgiving. It was nice, but like low-key in the best way. And so, you know, like after having four days of like not that much stimulation,

and then you're like, oh, fuck, it's all coming to an end. But I'm actually only working a couple days this week. So I need to get my shit together. I'm going on a trip this week that I think will be very fun and exciting. And is Bravo related. I will share more later because I don't know. I have this weird thing where I don't like to talk about. stuff before it happens. And it probably comes across as me being like KG and, and I don't know,

annoying, which I am annoying, but like different reasons. But I, I just am like paranoid that I'm going to, the second I talk about something, it's going to get canceled. And like, I always am that way with guests coming on the show. I'm like, I shouldn't ever tell anybody that I'm having a housewife on because then they're going to call and cancel 10 minutes later. I've had like, I've been doing this, what, four or five years? I've had like less, a small handful of recordings that have been scheduled and then haven't ended up happening. And it's always for like a good reason.

It's in theory, allegedly for a good reason. No, no, no. It's going to be an exciting week. I will take you along with me. But we'll get to it later. And also, you know, fun stuff coming up on the show on social media, on everything. And speaking of what's happening on social media. you may have seen today we launched this super exciting package at Betches called

Like the nominees, of course, we have our flagship Betch of the Year category. It's like the Oscars, but if the Oscars were like for you page, basically. But this just launched today, and it has been such a labor of love from so many people at Betches and beyond. And so I'm excited that everybody gets to see it and talk about it. And my little part in this, and I say little because truly so many hands touched this across, you know, design and marketing and content, whatever. It's a labor of love. But I got the absolute pleasure of hosting a roundtable discussion with some of our viral stars of the year.

We had a crop of betch of the year nominees fly into New York and assemble in a studio where they were all really together. On one day for this shoot, we did a photo shoot with them, like a cover shoot basically that looks amazing. And I got to host as a part of this day, this roundtable discussion. We were all, you know, sitting around the table together, chatting about going viral and how people's lives have changed and all of that. And it was fun for me because I am so steeped in the Bravo universe. And obviously, I have lots of other interests outside of housewives and things like that. But I don't necessarily get to sit down and talk to people and interview people from other walks of life. And the people at this roundtable, I'll just give you a little run through.

So it was Risa Tisa, as in who the fuck did I marry, 50 parts, Risa Tisa, sitting next to me at the table. Kirstie, who is the umpalumpa that went viral from the Glasgow Willy Wonka experience in the flesh, flown in from Scotland in glam. Yes, wild. Her accent, I'm obsessed with. I love an accent. We had M.J. Mercedes from Shaws of Sunset, of course. But this year she was included in our roundtable because she went so viral in the big jeans and the mesh tank top on traders. MJ, great year.

Great to see her. I hadn't seen MJ in like two or three years, probably, maybe at BravoCon in 2022. And what was funny is we had like this creative call prior to the shoot and we get on. And I was on the Zoom and there were other people on there. But MJ gets on and she goes, she's like, oh, I'm so excited to see you. even though I know Reza is your favorite. And I was like, MJ, what are you talking about?

I mean, I love Reza. Reza's been on the show. I also haven't seen him in a couple years. I was like, MJ, you're like, you're up there right now. You had a great ear. She brought her, she brought her outfit to the shoot, the one from the meme,

like the mesh shirt and the big jeans. And we had her put it on for like a video. But just seeing those hanging on the rack, It's that's art, that's history, that's magic. We also had the Four Seasons Orlando Baby. Her name is Kate and her dad. Will was also there at our roundtable. Baby had to leave the round table after a few minutes

because she was making a little too much Gougu Gaga noise with all the mics. And then we had Henrik, who's the Olympic muffin man swimmer from Norway. He was very sweet. Anne, Anne Maddox, Tom Sandval and later Ariana Maddox's assistant. She was the sweetest, kindest, warmest, loveliest person.

She was just so excited to be there. And I had, I think I interacted with her on social media a little bit before. So I knew that she seemed like really, like fun and down with it. But she was just like truly such a ray of sunshine all day. And so it was really fun having her there. And then Megan Bonnie, who did the, I'm looking for a man in finance viral TikTok song that has like 30 million streams on Spotify.

remember, I think I talked about this last week when I got into Bravo Fan Fest in Miami, but like, Fadra is a fucking star. And Traders was massive. And I think that is something I'm really interested with season three of Traders coming out soon. Like, obviously I'm going to watch it. I know a lot of you are going to watch it. But I will be so curious if. they can kind of capture that sort of zeitgeisty energy that they had with season two, because it's really hard to do that season after season. And so I'm hoping for the best. I mean, they've got some great people in the cast.

But man, traitors really showing up and showing out. And then we have a reality star icon of the year category, which is a little bit tongue in cheek. It's not just like the five biggest housewives of the year, which probably would be how I had made the category. but we have a few nominees in there. Reality Vantes as a concept really just rocked our world in 24. Salt Lake City getting in there with the second nomination. Good for them. Anne Maddox, who I mentioned, our beloved assistant. We also, this is a little bit of a spoiler for later this

week, but I've been reading Heather Gay's new book, and there is a lengthy chapter that really digs into the background of Monica and Reality Vantes, and before she even joined the show, kind of like the whole timeline of everything that happened. And so I'm really in a reality Vanty's state of mind right now. So that might be my vote for this category. But also in there, we have Whitney from Secret Lives of Mormon Wives, who became like the villain of the internet for a bit there back in September.

It's time for a trip to Ross. Work your magic. I'm going to talk about Real Housewives of Potomac today for a little bit. I feel like I have been giving short shrift to those ladies the last few weeks just because of some scheduling things. But I am caught up and I'm ready to talk about it. First, I want to just note one thing that happened on Real Housewives of Salt Lake City last week, we didn't talk about the scene with Mary Cosby and her son.

Now, this was something that had been teased a little bit. I did attend at Fan Fest, the Watch What Happens Live taping, that was Atlanta and Salt Lake City. And Andy had prefaced before the taping started, he had shared with us in the audience that this was going to be airing right after this episode of Salt Lake City, where there was going to be a very emotional scene with Mary and her son. So we had, we had like that context in our minds that this was going to be happening. but they did not show us the scene. I had not seen the episode prior to it airing. And so watching that unfold in real time and knowing that this was going to be coming, it really kind of like knocked me on my feet a little bit because it felt so unexpected

from everything we've seen of Mary over the last five years. It's not that she's never shared anything or never had any kind of difficult conversation on camera. But I think it's always felt with her like there are kind of these layers. And I don't think we've ever really seen her peeled back as much as we did in that moment. And obviously, her son opening up about his addiction and his substance abuse was, you know, very hard to watch and emotional and all of that. But really her emotional response and her saying that for her saying that for. for her whole life before she had him, she was never happy and she never felt like she had what she needed.

And then he came and he like made her whole life kind of worth living. And the idea that he is going in this direction where something could happen to him and she doesn't know kind of how she would handle that. I mean, it was devastating. I, hats off to Mary and Robert Jr. for sharing that. Obviously, that's not something everybody would choose to share, and I wouldn't judge somebody for choosing not to go there. But, I mean, what a moment. And she did share that he has, he's doing better now. And I think she said he's been to rehab. So I mean, certainly, I think that's the kind of scene that has the potential to make a positive outcome. And for people to see that and have those conversations that may be there for. to have, but man, what a, what a moment. Salt Lake City is so surprising and so complicated. And it feels like they're always giving us something unexpected and something different and something new and something fresh. And I mean, I would never, I would never put that scene that

happened with Mary and her son in the same basket with like Bermuda and Jen getting arrested and all of these kind of like big drama. moments, but just in terms of sheer, like, gripping moments that have happened on these shows, Salt Lake City is delivering them at such a cadence that is really just kind of amazing. I don't know. Salt Lake City is just permanently on the brain these days. And another tidbit from that, Watch What Happens Live, that I wanted to bring up now that it's aired, because I didn't want to, like, spoil it too much last week.

but Meredith revealed that she recently got a phone call from one Jennifer Shaw currently incarcerated. And she was like, well, it was my first time receiving a call from a federal penitentiary. And Jen was like, well, you can cross that off your bucket list. But she said it was a nice phone call. It was 10 minutes. I think that's all the time they get. It was recorded, yada, yada, yada. not recorded like for the show like I think the I think I don't know prison like records it

would be funny if Meredith had like a bravo camera at her house waiting for Jen to call um but do she said she sounded good and um it seems like it was probably not that you know deep you know she's been away for what closing in on two years you know it's i think it's the kind of thing where like obviously the way that some stuff was handled with Jen in the past was was not great, and particularly, like, how Heather handled her relationship with her. That's also in the book. It's nice. If Jen is in prison and she's, you know, taking time to reflect or learning, growing, changing,

whatever, who knows? I don't want to give her too much credit. We have not heard from Jen. We have not seen Jen. And if she is like, you know, sometimes a tiger doesn't change their stripes. And so we will see maybe in four years whether Jen comes out of prison. and is the same old Jen, but it was nice to know. It was nice to know that they're chatting.

I also, I watched the premiere of Married to Medicine. I'm going to check in on Married to Medicine soon. But the premiere was interesting. It was enjoyable. But I wasn't necessarily super checked into what the drama was that was going on. And I got to say, the big re-entrance of Contessa at that party, when she hops in the confessional chair and they always do it. I get it.

I don't begrudge her this, but she's like, I'm back. Did you miss me? And it's like, frankly, my dear, I don't think anyone missed you. I feel bad saying it, but like, married to Madison Hive, I know you're out there. I get the comments. I get the DMs. Did anyone miss her? I'm not saying that casting for these shows is easy,

and I know sometimes the side of the fence that you already know is safer to stay on. But like, Contessa? Didn't we all, weren't we all sick of her? I hope she doesn't listen to this because I'm really not trying to be mean. And I have not watched episode two yet, so I'll have to get back into it.

And now I feel really bad because I don't usually talk about people like that. But maybe that's a lie. I don't know. I'm not that nice. But like, did you miss her? Did you? I'm glad that Sweet Tea is still there. I think she is hilarious.

Fadra is still there. You know, this will likely be her last season on Married to Medicine because she has greener pastures and juicier peaches on her horizon. But we'll see. We'll see what happens with Married to Medicine this year. That show, I feel like, is very reliable. Like you can kind of put it on the shelf and come back in six weeks and you know that it's going to be in a good place. So I'm not too worried about it.

But I suppose that's a good place to dive into Potomac. Because like I said, I feel like I haven't had. a ton of time to talk about it in the last few weeks. And they are now sort of quietly halfway through their season. And I was pretty high on Potomac for the first few episodes of this season. And I do feel like watching these last couple weeks, it feels like we have settled into more of like a mid-level, mid-tier place. And by that, I mean, it's not that there is nothing interesting happening. It's not that there is necessarily like a lack of quality this season, but I think that they are still sort of searching for the right dynamic to kind of bring Potomac back to those early years that really felt like dynamic and exciting and hilarious and unexpected.

And there are a few factors of players. So we're going to get into the episode specifics, all of that. I have a lot of notes. But I also, I want to just kind of take a look at where we are in this season and raise a couple of points. First of all, our new women this season are, I would say, a mixed bag. And by that I mean that Stacey, I am fascinated by. I had her on the show last month, probably, I don't know, time is flying by. I really enjoyed having her on the show.

I've really enjoyed watching her on the show. I think that she is so different from anybody else on this cast in a way that just you kind of can't look away from. And she has beaten the boring allegations, I think, you know, by a mile at this point. And on this week's episode, I thought it was really interesting to watch her sort of in real time have her expectations of this divorce mediation conversation be. scrambled a little bit. Because at Mia's 40th birthday party, which, by the way, we have been celebrating Wendy's 40th birthday party. By the way, we have been celebrating Wendy's birthday for six episodes, five.

I thought the Lake Norman trip was Wendy's birthday trip. And then we come back two episodes later. It's Wendy's birthday party. How many birthday events does Wendy get? You're turning 40. One party. One trip. I don't know. That's beside the point. But at this party, Stacey was talking kind of such a big game about how she had this divorce mediation scheduled and she didn't expect it to be contentious because, you know, she and her husband have always been, he's a good guy and all of this stuff. And she doesn't think that he would try to, you know, to make anything hard for her. So she's expecting it to be very straightforward.

And, you know, they have their daughter together. And Ashley and Giselle and Karen all being kind of like, Hey, girl. Hopefully you're right. But just in case, that's not always the way it goes when you are going into divorce mediation with somebody. that sometimes the person that you knew very well as your husband, who is no longer going to be your husband, you might not know him so well anymore.

And that doesn't necessarily mean that the person you knew was a lie, but that people change and things happen and you don't always know the way it's going to go. And I think that this is something where Stacey coming into this season was talking about how she had never really had a group of girlfriends like this. You know, she's never gone on a girl's trip. She seems like somebody who is a little bit sheltered might not be the right word. But like she kind of lives in a bubble a little bit. That she had this perfect marriage.

She had the perfect kid. She had a great job, all this stuff. And she is in a new phase of her life where she is experiencing things both good and bad that she hasn't experienced before. And I thought it was really great to see the other women kind of. it felt like they were telling her she was wrong, but from a place of support, not a place of like, you dumb bitch, that's not going to be how it goes. And lo and behold, later in the episode, she comes to meet them after her mediation. And she's like, so there was a lot of stuff I didn't know about.

You know, I never asked any questions about the bills. And, you know, my husband was very old fashioned. And, you know, I didn't know, you know, there were. accounts I wasn't aware of and, you know, things that had my name on them. And this is, I mean, it's a tale as old as time. And it's a tale as old as bravoTV.com. Because how many housewives have we seen go through these situations where they aren't in charge?

And not only are they not in charge, but they are not even clued in by the person who is in charge. I mean, that's why Teresa Judice went to prison. she went, sorry, to camp because she didn't know what her name was on. We've had, you know, how many divorce settlements and things where people are getting peanuts? I mean, Jen Padranti got evicted from her house because she couldn't pay the rent. And she didn't think that was going to be an issue. Surprise, surprise, whatever divorce payment didn't come through the way she expected it to.

I don't wish that on anybody. And I'm glad that Stacey now is at least, you know, maybe it's too late, maybe it's not. And look, the fact that she didn't know about bank accounts and about things that her husband was doing financially does not mean that he was trying to scam her or to leave her destitute or anything like that. Like, it's not necessarily that it's sinister. It's that it's concerning to be in a position where you don't necessarily have somebody who's, looking out for your best interests, and you are not aware of what might be coming down the pipeline. So I'm really happy for Stacey that she's now kind of getting this sort of 360 view of stuff. And it was kind of crazy to watch Wendy at the table be like, oh yeah, girl, I'm the same way.

I don't know how my mortgage gets paid. I don't know when it's due. I just, my husband does everything. And I'm like, it's so, it's so interesting to watch these women who are. obviously very smart, obviously accomplished, successful, you know, grown women. I mean, like, Wendy is four degrees. She's Dr. Wendy. Stacey is like a TV host.

She's the most put-together person you could imagine. And they don't know when the bills are due. They don't know how much the bills are. They don't know how they would pay the bill. And that's, I mean, obviously in a marriage and in a marriage and in a. in a couple and whatever people have their own systems that work for them. But in that moment, I was like, Wendy, I hope that you are actually taking this to heart. And knowing that even if you're not going through a divorce, even if you don't think you ever will go through a divorce,

Like, I don't know if it's the same day as Stacey or if they just kind of edit it to make it seem that way. but lo and behold Michael Darby the most you know upstanding good Christian man we've ever had on Bravo

surprise surprise he's still a dick he wants Ashley to sign this non what's it like a confidentiality agreement in perpetuity that she will never speak about him or say anything negative

and she specifically says and I love that they did this in the confession She's like, he doesn't want me to say anything on the show. And Ashley's a smarty. Ashley's not dumb either. She knows this is how the bills get paid. She's been on the show for nine seasons.

Look, Stacey might not be making pay the bills kind of money on this show this season. Ashley Darby is putting away a nice check. And she has for the better part of a decade. So she is not, she's not going to sign away her most consistent. storyline so she can get what a few thousand dollars from Michael it's not worth it and she knows that and she also knows that she can't control what other people say on the show and I think that this is a good observation too she's like fuck do I look like a wizard a magician a genie I don't know if if Ashley comes on the show and somebody else decides to start talking crazy

about Michael, or not even talking crazy, saying, spinning truth, let's be real. She doesn't want to be in a position where she might be dragged back to court, have some kind of payment taken away, have a custody agreement messed up because somebody else was saying something on the show and she, you know, didn't do enough to combat it. Like, that's just not a situation she should want to be in and she doesn't. And I'm glad for her. But so now it's, do you do the public filing? Do you do the lawyers working it out? I think she did the public filing because we just saw that not too long ago. I think after they finished filming. I hope for the best for her, though.

Like, with all she put up with, if she's not getting a bag at the end of this, it's depressing. It's depressing. But anyway, circling back like three or four times, I think where I started on this tangent was about our new ladies this season. And obviously, I have plenty to say about Stacey. and I am really enjoying her. Unfortunately, I don't feel quite the same about Kiyana. Kiana was elevated from friend of to housewife this season. And whenever that happens,

you always assume that there is going to be a moment, a storyline, a something, something to really sink your teeth into with that person. because Bravo at this point has shown us time and time again that like if you're a friend of and you're, you know, giving us some moments, showing up, you know, delivering the lines, if you're doing what you need to do, they're content to keep you a friend of as long as it works. I mean, look at Miami, look at Atlanta, look at these shows that have long-term friends of who are doing just, fine. I mean, Kathy Hilton,

Kathy Hilton is like the ringer that they bring in on Beverly Hills whenever they need a boost. She's not holding a diamond. She probably doesn't want to. But when Kiana was bumped up, I was like, okay, okay, so we're really going to get to know her this season. She's going to be kind of a center of attention probably. You know, she's holding the champagne flute. That comes, that's a contract, a literal, I mean, a literal contract, a full-time contract. And as I was watching this episode, and I think I saw somebody. say this on on Twitter. I'm a blue sky now. God, what are we doing? Kianna's kind of giving us nothing

and we're nine episodes in. Like this episode, it felt like the first one-on-one solo scene that Kianas had in a while. And it was her going to her man, Greg's office. And they're talking about this legal proceeding, this lawsuit, because she had filed. a lawsuit against Deborah based on the altercation that happened at last season's GNA fashion show. See, I'm even trying to recall the details of this. And like, I know that it was a big moment when it happened, but it also is like, who cares? And also the defendant, is it a defendant if it's a lawsuit? I don't know.

The person on the receiving end of this, Deborah, is no longer on the show. we haven't seen her in ages. And so Kiarna's having this like one-sided battle that she can't fully talk about with somebody that we're never going to see again who in theory was friends with Ashley, but also I don't know how close they actually were. But it's this personal injury lawsuit. And the real reason that we're bringing it up because ultimately we can't barely even talk about it is that Kiana's letting us know that this lawsuit made Greg, her man. made him not want her to spend a lot of time around this group. Because look at what happens. There's an altercation.

You have a scar. We know she has a scar. That's a sore subject. So I'm sorry for bringing it up, but we know she has it. But I'm just kind of like, okay. So you really want to hang out with this group and your man is kind of on the fence about it. Obviously, we've seen that happen before. You know, that's not a new dynamic.

But I'm kind of like, okay, would this season really be suffering at all if Kiyana was not hanging out with the group that much? And I don't, I don't know. I just, I feel like I'm still waiting and searching for that kind of moment where I'm like, oh, yeah, that's when she earned that full-time contract. And I hope it happens because we still have half the season left. And maybe there's something big happening that I'm not aware of. But like we got to kind of get to the point with Kiyarnah, I think. It feels like times up on Kiyana. Right? I don't know. I mean, Jacqueline is giving us more. Because Jacqueline and Mia, episode to episode, you never know what state they're going to be in. And Mia is kind of the other big, big tent pole of this show right now that I feel like we need to talk about. Because what exactly is happening with Mia? It's a lot going on, clearly, for her too. But she has this complicated situation still happening with,

Inc. and with Gordon. And it sounds like because of Gordon's, you know, struggles that it's changing day to day and she never knows what sort of side of Gordon she's going to get. And obviously it's very volatile. But then she's also kind of, she's not always maybe doing the best job of explaining the situation. And, you know, people are getting confused by things she's saying and posting and by people, I mean, Jazeel. And Jazele is asking a lot of questions.

And she wants to get to the bottom of it, which like, is it her business? no, but also this is real housewives. So it sort of is, it's her business to at least want it to be her business. But it's complicated. And Mia, I think, is feeling the strain of having the spotlight on her personal life in such a real way this season. And I totally understand that. And I think that's valid. I think that this week we kind of saw her fumble the bag a little bit because the situation with Giselle, with Giselle asking questions.

and trying to sort of like poke holes almost. It seems like at what she's been saying. This is the kind of situation where I think from a fan perspective, it would not be very difficult for Mia to gain the upper hand and to maintain that because people don't love Giselle a lot of the time. Because Giselle is messy. Giselle is a little reckless with other people's emotions and personal lives. And there have been a lot of situations.

where Giselle was sort of like doing what needed to be done from a show perspective, but went about it in a way that really left a bad taste in people's mouths. And I think that this would, it sort of felt like it was going in that direction again, with Giselle kind of like asking too many questions and not giving Mia kind of like the grace that she needs right now. But then at this event, at the end of the episode where Ashley is like repelling off a building to support the homeless, I think. truly don't, I don't know where they cook these things up. I would rather be a homeless,

not toothless. Um, but Giselle is like confused why Mia has so much time for her with everything going on. And the second she gets there, she's like, oh, we'll have words later. Don't worry. I don't know. They go aside at the end. And Mia is like, I don't know why you're so concerned with my personal life when you're not necessarily portraying your personal. personal life as what it actually is. Like, you're questioning my social media. I'm going to question yours because your daughters had guys in the house in the Dominican Republic.

And all of a sudden, I'm like, what, what are we doing here? It feels like the train is off the track a little bit. Your daughters had boys at the house in the DR. First of all, who cares? I mean, I don't know the specifics of that situation. So like, maybe, maybe Giselle cares. I mean, it's, she's their mother, whatever. Love to see Grace this episode, by the way.

She looks great. But, like, what does that have to do? And then just, I was like, oh, I mean, okay, I caught a boy on the ring camera. Okay. And it feels like Mia has miscalculated that, like, she, was trying to do a tip for tat kind of thing, but bringing up Giselle's daughters out of nowhere and this weird story that I don't even know if we've heard before, I'm like, when were they in the Dominican Republic and where were the daughters and the boys and that?

Like, it just feels so out of whack with everything else that's going on. And I think the thing that I was really struck by right away is how Karen knew that me of it fucked up right away because she says, she says in the confessional, the stress of juggling a pimp village has gone to Mia's head. I mean, it does sound stressful. I can't lie. Bringing up the kids is just, it's just, it's not great. And Mia feels like Giselle has been attacking her parenting and attacking her as a mother,

which like, perhaps, again, Jizel can. do bad all by herself. Giselle is messy. Messy boots. We know. But when when Giselle is asking questions about the situation with Inc and with Gordon and

with Mia, it's not directly about her being a mother. There is the sort of like sticky element of her son Jeremiah and the paternity and whatever. But like, that's not about Jeremiah. That's about the dynamic with these two men.

And again, perhaps maybe it hasn't been handled the most delicate way we could. But to bring up the girls, like having a boy in the house, it's just like, no, Mia! You were doing so good. And I think Mia really going into the season and for the first little chunk has really had the potential to be sort of like the central figure of this season. And she probably still kind of is trending in that direction. But it's just like, you've got to be careful. You've got to be really careful because that's the kind of thing that, like,

Giselle is saying at the end of the episode, she's like, I'm taking it in and then I will react. And, like, it's, it's not going to be pretty. And I don't know where we, I don't know where we're going this season. I mean,

the mid-season trailer looks pretty good. And I still, I feel like I, it feels like I've been complaining for 20 minutes, but I really don't actually feel like I've been complaining for 20 minutes. Like, I feel like I've been reflecting. And maybe some of those reflections are,

critical, but like, we're still doing okay. We're still doing okay. We see, we see Raven hanging out with Karen this episode. She says that dating in New York City is spooky and girl, I agree. But I think Potomac is, it's just like, it's always trying to revisit those highs. And I think they're, I like that they're striving. And maybe we'll get there. Maybe we won't.
