Mention It All.
A Bravo by Betch's podcast.
We don't say that, but now we said it.
With Dylan Hafer.
Who don't check me, boo?
And Barry Rosenfeld.
I need to start drinking alcohol.
Now go to sleep, we.
Hey, everyone.
Welcome back to another episode of the Mention at All podcast.
I'm Dylan Hafer.
And I'm Barry Rosenfeld.
Happy Friday.
Happy Friday.
What a fucking week.
We made it.
I was literally about to be like,
it's Friday,
Right? Just confirm it. Right before we started recording, I was saying, let's get this done so I can go to bed because it's 11 a.m.
And I feel like I've been awake for like a hundred hours in a row at this point. And just a follow up last night, I did Google a bunch of like sleep helping things. And I just need help. I don't know what to turn to next. But anyway, yeah, this week is not over yet, but we're close to it. And we're here to make that end of the week.
Even better.
Even better.
Today we're talking about Southern Charm and I just want to let you know that this show gives me joy.
Does it give you joy?
I'm glad.
It does.
I don't know why, but it gives me some joy.
Maybe you feel about Southern Charm like I felt about this week's below deck premiere because I was, I was, I felt like I was in a good spot while I was watching it.
Southern Charm, I don't know.
I wasn't, I didn't think it was a bad episode.
it wasn't like the most the most exciting episode but I don't know I mean I do appreciate that they
didn't spend half the episode talking about Cameron I know okay want me to tell you why a little bit a
little secret of course I think Austin is so fucking hot and I have a crush on him he is so but the
only thing I don't like is that he date that he dates like Madison because me and Madison are not
alike in any way.
So I'm like, like, like guys literally were not alike in.
You and Madison really could not.
I feel like you're more of a Leva than a Madison.
Oh my God.
I love her.
And that's another thing.
I'm like, can you show more of her and Lamar, please?
Thank you.
Leva and La Mala.
Power couple.
I didn't realize, I knew that she had like a bar.
I didn't realize that they had this little empire going on.
All the bars.
I know.
I was like, she was like, she was like rolling down the list.
And she's like, and then we did this one.
And then we did this one.
And then we did this one.
we're opening this one. I was like, um, okay.
She's like the Lisa Vanderpump of Charleston.
Oh, that's like, that's a fun.
I do. Yeah, I did appreciate this episode. We got like formally introduced more to our new cast members,
especially Leva, which was great. She seems like, obviously we haven't seen her like in too many,
you know, stressful situations yet, but I'm enjoying her vibe so far. She seems like kind of
step in the mature direction for this cast, which I think they could use. I am liking her.
Well, so we left off at Shep's dumb and dumber party, which every time I think about that,
I feel dumber. But what's, what's funny is I didn't realize, maybe we didn't talk about it.
I didn't realize she was there or remember we thought his party was at her restaurant. I don't remember.
So she was there and at the party. And what she did made me so happy. She,
pulled now leva seems like someone not to fuck with and so she pulled katherine aside and she basically
let her know stop what you're doing like don't talk shit about people who have a beautiful family where basically
and and of course katherine well i had a beautiful family too you have beautiful children you and
thomas never had a beautiful relationship at all i okay so that the whole of the conversation was a little
weird to me because I agree. I didn't realize Leva was there. I don't know if she showed up late or
whatever. I kind of forgot the party wasn't over. Then I was like, oh, cool, we're still here.
So Catherine clearly doesn't give a fuck. She's not sorry. She's saying in her confessional that
Cam got what was coming to her, which like, okay, I don't really see that, but whatever.
I, Catherine clearly has some grudge on cam that I feel like was dormant for a couple years and now has awoken.
But then it's interesting because Leva, she had a lot of energy when the conversation started and seemed very angry and then sort of very quickly pivoted to let's just dead this issue.
You know, like let's move on, whatever.
And I, I guess it's good in the sense that we have a long season to go and you don't want kind of the same.
drama to be dredged up and up and up again.
But it was a it was a little like, oh, we're moving on.
I didn't feel like there was any resolution there other than just like.
Well, I feel like that's the mature part of Leva where she's like,
let's drop it.
Like, and and it's funny because they showed the clips again of what Catherine was
referring to regarding.
Cameron.
And, and Cameron didn't do it.
She was basically saying how she just doesn't.
want to be friends with, with Catherine. She wasn't like dragging her name. She was literally like,
this is a person I don't want to be associated with. That's it. I definitely think there were some times
where Cam was not very kind to Catherine when she was going through some tough stuff. And I think
Cam has acknowledged that and she's apologized for it. And, you know, in the last couple seasons,
we've seen them making a lot of progress in their relationship. So it's kind of odd to me that all
of a sudden Catherine has clearly decided that this narrative of Catherine or of Cameron was awful
to me. So I'm getting back at her is like a way to go. And I don't really think it doesn't like for
you and I. I don't think we see that. And I don't I would imagine that a lot of people watching are
kind of confused by that as well. Yeah. I just feel like she's being petty. Like it's clear she's
being petty. And it's and Catherine's that one character from the beginning like season one. Not the
beginning of the season. Season one, she has changed so much and she has truly come out of her shell.
And like, I like that, but I just don't like this behavior. This specific behavior.
I will say so far this season, again, it's only been two episodes, but I don't find myself in
her corner kind of at all this season so far. We'll see. I have a feeling it's going to be kind of
a rough season for her and she might kind of deserve it. But then also at the party,
so much left to happen at the party. Who knew?
Shep asks Madison, or like they're talking about this guy, Peter, that's there that she
hooked up with when she wasn't with Austin. Madison kind of flips out and she and Austin leave.
And then Austin is actually like pretty upset about this. Well, it was funny because when they left,
did you not think it made it seem where Madison didn't want to be seen on camera? She,
they like made eye contact with camera and they were like, let's go, let's not talk about this.
So when they pan to being outside where the cameras followed them.
And then she told him, she goes, Shep, like everyone saying I hooked up with Peter.
And Austin literally goes, well, did you?
And she goes, well, and Max, when Austin, like, got out.
He was like, what?
Like, you did?
Yeah.
I mean, clearly she, I, they made it seem like a little iffy for a second.
And clearly she admitted, like clearly she said yes in whether it was in that moment or later.
But so we see them the next morning.
and Austin
I think Austin is a little more mad at her
than he has a right to be
because we're clear on the fact that
this was when they were not together
and Austin has clearly had his issues
while they, he hooked out with people
while they were together.
Yeah, we'll say he's been with other people
at some point in his life maybe, you know.
And he basically says that
Madison is making him look bad
by being with other people.
And it's like, okay, first of all, you're one to talk.
There's literally a video of these women that you hooked up with.
But on top of that, it's like if you weren't together in that moment,
you don't have, like, she wasn't making you as a couple look bad
because you as a couple didn't exist in that moment.
And it's not Madison's fault that Shep has this information
and decides to be messy about it, you know?
Girl, winter is so last season.
And now Springs got you looking at pictures of tank tops with hungry eyes.
Your algorithm is feeding you cutoffs.
You're thirsty for the sun on your shoulders.
That perfect hang on the patio sundress.
Those sandals you can wear all day and all night.
And you've had enough of shopping from your couch.
Done hoping it looks anything like the picture when you tear up on that envelope?
It's time for a little in-person spring treat.
It's time for a trip to Ross.
Work your magic.
I have to say, and people might not agree with me, I'm going to take a stand and say, I don't think Shep knew that Madison and Peter hooked up before inviting Peter.
I think I actually believe Shep in this situation.
I do.
Okay.
You do not.
I don't know.
I mean, I don't know.
I don't think it particularly matters because I think whether Shep knew or not, I think he would have enjoyed kind of having that information.
information and
Shep and Madison have this weird
dynamic.
Madison really does not like Shep
and I think I think Shep kind of
I think he kind of likes playing around
with Madison and like kind of
shitting on her a little bit and
but also being like what no like we're good
kind of like yeah
whereas I think Madison really is just kind of like
fuck you Shep
Madison doesn't like Shep because
Madison has this attitude of
no one can fuck with me like there is no fight like I win everything and shep's like calls her
out and so I think Madison just feels they both feel they they listen they bang they bump heads
but they what is this called the the Charleston food and beer oh I don't think okay so I have to
say I was like oh my God imagine going to one of those right now like when they zoomed out and
showed like everyone entering I was like oh memories but
they go they're there because Austin is promoting his world renowned beer that he is not sold anywhere.
I don't know.
But Madison and Shep have this conversation.
And what got me is when Madison was like, you're shaking.
And Shep was like, I'm not scared of you.
Like she was like really trying to be intimidating.
And all Austin wanted was for them not to speak.
at this place because it was a place of business.
But like they were not only doing it in the tent.
They were doing it like at the table like where customers were.
And I was like, guys, move, move.
Shepp is such a dickhead because even after Austin said that, he was like, I think this is the perfect place for us to have this conversation.
And it's like, Shepherd, you are a 40 year old man.
Come on.
I, you know, got like mad when Madison was like, you can at least buy a hat.
And he was like, sure, I'll wear a hat.
Oh my God.
Yeah, by that.
Okay, so one final thing that we find out happened the night of this dumb and dumber party before we can just never talk about it again.
Catherine and John Pringle kissed.
Oh my God.
And then, of course, throughout the whole episode at The Nail Place with Danny, which by the way, like, we want more Danny too.
She tells him.
And then at the food and beer festival, she tells them.
And I'm like, Catherine, stop like making this a thing if it's not a thing.
But when she's with Danny, not only do we get the revelation about that she kissed John Pringle,
but we also find out we know she's currently staying with T.Rav, they also hooked up. And, you know,
am I surprised? No, am I disappointed? Absolutely.
Are you, though? Like, are you?
But I'm most disappointed by the fact that Catherine is then saying that she has this kind of,
it almost seems like a little bit of a fantasy of them getting back together and living happily ever after.
and it's like, okay, it's one thing to be like, you know, wouldn't it be nice if things were perfect?
But she has been through enough with this man that she should know without a shadow of a doubt that that possibility does not exist.
And so to even hear Catherine entertain the thought of getting, of like getting back together with T-Rab, it's like, girl, I don't, I don't know how much I can root for you when you are not rooting for yourself.
Like, come on.
I know.
And it's like she always has this.
Well, this is where I'm talking about where I think she's changed.
Like she, when you saw her with her old ways, like with a guy she's hooked up with
or with a guy she's dated or with TRAV, like, she was very like timid and also got like,
can get mad at the snap of a finger.
But like with this, she's like kind of having fun with it.
And you can tell she's like not as emotionally tied, which is like nice to see.
But it is weird.
Like if you are, I don't like to use the term living with.
I feel like she's staying with.
Does that make sense?
So I mean, it's a technicality, but sure.
Yeah, like it's meant to be temporary.
I exactly.
But that is just a bold move.
You know something's going to go down.
And as we see in next episode, we obviously won't talk about it that much right now.
But like what happens?
He got someone pregnant.
Can you imagine doing that while your ex baby mama is living with you?
like is that not enough for you to not want to be with this dude anymore that's crazy but i'm we know
that katherine now is in a new relationship with uh another rabinal who just happens to spell his last
name differently um so at least we know for the time being katherine has avoided um getting back
with t rav considering that he is has like another baby now but we well wait speaking of pringle were you not
in his interview when they were like, who's your, who's your tight Madison or Catherine? And
like without even like the sentence being finished, he was like Madison. And he was like even if
they're not, what do you say? High class. Like you want them to look like them? No, he said I'm into
blondes that are like high maintenance. And even if they're not high maintenance, they look like
they would be. So yeah, we need to talk about John Pringle and specifically this kind of
vibe that is being given off persistently that he is going to get with Madison being set up with
Madison. So he is at Patricia's house and Whitney is there because why not.
Where else would Whitney be? And Patricia is clearly, you know, up to her devices. And she
she does not
she
wait
doesn't Patricia
like Madison
she loves Madison
Madison's her
hairstylist
like Patricia and Madison
are very good friends
which is beyond me
because she thinks that
she thinks that Austin
is basically
you know
a low
low tier businessman
and she deserves
an Anheiser
Bush
Budweiser
Budweiser
same thing
I'm from St. Louis
it's the same
But so she's like working her little her little like magic tricks to try and get John Pringle with Madison.
And it's like Patricia.
Yeah, that's so good to do.
I greatly enjoy Patricia's presence on the show.
I think the show would not be the same without her.
But it's like for all of their issues, Austin and Madison are currently together in a relationship.
And so in my opinion, it is never a good look to be.
actively chipping away at someone's relationship unless it is a truly toxic relationship or it's
you know there's some other darker factor going on but to be honest i don't think that's happening
with austin and madison they're just kind of messy right i think it's great when they have when
patricia has someone over for cocktail hour though it's like they're there for an interview like
whitney and patricia were like interviewing john pringle and about like his great great grandfather and
his uncle in this house and this house. And, and she got straight to the point when she was like,
well, I think you should be with Madison, Patricia looks great, by the way. Holy shit. But it's weird because
it's almost like in that interview is that the end all be all. Like if John Pringle was like, you know what?
You're right. Was Patricia going to be like, I'm going to make that happen? Like, or she just like kind of
planning the idea in his head? Yeah. I'll be curious as this season goes on. I'm sure we're going to have
some drama with Austin and Madison. But I'm, I don't know kind of where we land.
in terms of are they together, are they not?
Isn't they in real life not together though?
I believe they aren't right now, but I don't know like what is the...
I love how we say real life, like not filming, I mean.
In current time.
Yes, yes.
But also like, is this, if Austin and Madison are together for most of the season,
then it's like, what is this John Pringle storyline actually going to be?
Because right now it's just like, I miss my kids and I think Madison's,
is hot. Yeah, they, I want to like reverse back to like when they were casting and I was like what
wanted to know like what was the plan with this one. Were they like just a single bachelor and they're
like, who can he hook up with? But he clearly has ties to like his family who is not currently
in Charleston. It's just like very weird. I hope that he finds love.
Plan B is a backup birth control option that's there for you when things don't go
according to plan. It specifically works after unprotected sex and before pregnancy occurs by
temporarily delaying ovulation. Plan B is available nationwide at all major retailers and through
delivery apps like DoorDash. No ID, prescription, or age requirement. It's the number one OBGYN
recommended brand of emergency contraception and it won't impact your future fertility. That's Freedom
to Be. Use us directed. Well, let's think back to the first couple like the, like at the beginning
Southern Charm when it was basically all of these single guys. And the only women, the only
like women around were Cameron who was always with Jason. And then Catherine, who most of them
hooked up with. Yes. It's like, I think I, I don't know if I want to see another round of like
single man tries to get with every woman in the cast. I know. But I love when the boys,
the boys, the Charleston boys, go out to eat. And they talk about like,
girl problems or like their night out the night before.
Every time they order food, it makes me so hungry and it looks like so delicious.
And I feel like they just have this lifestyle that I want to hang out with them.
I just want to hang out with them.
It's like they're 40 years.
Well, I say they, but you're right.
Shepp is 40 years old and he's going out as if like he's in college and like hooking up with
girls and whatever.
But it is he does have a girlfriend now.
Like this whole everything changes.
It's so upsetting.
They do eat the best food.
Like I just want like a basket of fried shrimp and like macaroni and cheese and they get the sandwiches.
I'm like and they look like nicer places that they go to like nicer.
It's like elevated comfort food type of vibe.
I lived in New Orleans for four years.
I know something about that and it is the best.
I mean, it's just like the best food.
Oh my God.
Mac and cheese with a little like breadcrumbs on top.
I'm drooling. Oh my God, sorry, I'm drooling. I haven't eaten yet today. And now I feel like I'm going to get like mac and cheese for lunch. It's Friday and you should seamless the hell out of New York City. Literally.
Yeah, but it's like I have to like choose right. You know, because there's nothing worse than when you are kind of on the fence and you order food and then you know you made a mistake, but it's too late. And then the next worst thing is when you're so hungry and you order food and it comes and it's wrong.
That is that is something that I'm sorry that we shouldn't be putting in your guys's ears today.
Like I don't want to manifest that this negativity.
I want you all to enjoy your food that whatever you're going to eat today.
But get mac and cheese.
Definitely get mac and cheese.
Okay.
When I was watching this episode of Southern Charm, I felt like I wasn't that into it.
But then I actually feel like we had a lot to talk about.
Like there's a lot going on.
Wait.
For what?
sorry, just like zoned out.
Oh my gosh, we both don't know what we're talking about.
When I was watching this episode, I was like, this is kind of boring.
But now that we talked it through, I'm like, okay, a lot happened.
Well, I know.
Like, that's kind of why I was like, we text on the side, obviously.
Dylan and I do have a relationship.
No, but like I, we don't dig in that much in via text because then we won't have anything to like discuss on the episode.
So that's kind of why you said that to me and I didn't respond.
I was like, we'll get it out.
We will get it out.
I know what you mean, though.
There wasn't like total drama.
I don't think there was like a centerpiece moment of this episode,
but I think there's enough different stuff going on that I'm still kind of intrigued.
And definitely in terms of the new cast members,
we're still kind of like getting our feet wet.
Exactly.
I am curious, though, like where this season is really going to go.
And especially sooner rather than later,
we're going to get to the COVID period.
And I don't know kind of what that's going to do in terms of storylines.
And, you know, it'll be interesting both on Southern Charm and also on Orange County kind of what that moment is going to feel like when it gets here because we haven't seen any shows yet other than like confessionals where they've actually been where like shutdown has happened in the middle of filming.
And both of these shows are going to tackle that.
And it's going to be interesting.
I think it's on the same track too because OC this week for next week's episode, they showed that.
And you can tell Kelly already started talking about it.
Like that Corona is like a thing, but we're not in lockdown yet.
It's so weird that we're still in the pandemic, but we're talking about episodes that happened months ago.
Do you know what I mean?
So it's like we're, because I think like once we get to like Atlanta's premiering next month, we have Jersey and Dallas and, you know,
know, other shows that are filming kind of during quarantine, like quote unquote quarantine,
I think those are going to feel more normal in a way because of course they'll, you know,
reference it or talk about it sometimes and like certain, you know, like parties or scenes
might be different, but we're not going to have that like episode where it's like fuck the world
is ending. And I think, you know, hopefully we'll see it on these couple of shows and then kind of
get it out of the way. Yeah. Yes. But,
Yeah.
Who's your number one Bravo Lab in the group?
Who's your bravo.
Philosophical?
My Bravo Lab this week is Shep.
I have to give it to him.
He apologized to Austin when they showed their workout, which I was laughing at.
I was like watching these boys workout is so funny, but so hot too.
And also he apologized to Madison.
He's just like it's taking some time, but like he's evolving.
it seems. So maybe that will change. I don't know, but mine's Shep this week. What about you?
Also, I just have to, I just have to give a little personal note unrelated to the show.
Shep is very politically active on Twitter, which is something that I was surprised when I first
discovered. But he, you know, he's very, he's very liberal and very open about it on Twitter.
And also he has clown T-Rav on Twitter several times in relation to
political views. And I just, I enjoy that. And even though I don't always agree with him on the show,
good, big ups to Shep. Well, Shep is a very, shep is honestly very educated. Like, he, he is very,
very smart. So anyway, um, that being said, I'm going to give my number one Bravo Lab to Lave a Bonaparte,
who I felt like we sort of, we sort of like really met this week. And I'm very excited to see kind of
what she brings over the course of the season. She even has a strong.
name.
Like,
Leva Bonaparte.
Like when she walks in the room, I like,
beautiful.
Her husband is like very handsome.
They have,
I was going to say hot.
I mean,
they have,
like their kids are,
wait,
do they have one kid?
I don't know.
We only saw one,
but I was like,
is that the one that she was talking with Cameron.
Yeah,
they have cute kid.
They have cute kid.
