Mention It All - Jax & Brittany Throw (Up) In The Towel

Episode Date: May 23, 2024

Something About Her is officially open, and Dylan starts today’s episode with some perspective on the long opening day line. Then, he recaps the latest episode of The Valley, in which the male/femal...e dynamics on the babymoon from hell are extremely distressing. He also weighs a listener question about whether Jax has ulterior motives for his treatment of Brittany, or if he’s just an a-hole. Later, he digs into the mailbag for some listener questions about the future of Summer House and which Housewives franchises are currently on top. Learn more about your ad choices. Starting point is 00:00:28 See Store Online for details. Betches Media presents. Ha ha, laugh, funny. Mention It All, a Bravo by Betches podcast. We don't say that, but now we said it. With me, Dylan Hafer. We're going to check me, though. Hey, everyone.
Starting point is 00:00:46 Welcome back to the Mentioned All podcast. I'm Dylan Hafer. As always, here we are again. We're going to start with a little something about her update because it's officially open. I maybe said it was officially open earlier this week or last week. I don't know. What is time? But it was like open for an event.
Starting point is 00:01:03 and then like, I don't know, photo ops or something. But I think yesterday was like the official, official opening day of something about her. And it's open. And there was a four-hour line outside of something about her. Apparently, I wasn't there. I haven't had the pleasure. We actually did. Betches sent one of our writers, Marissa, to something about her for a little tasting, a little experience.
Starting point is 00:01:29 And she wrote a really great article kind of reviewing the interior. the decor, the sandwiches. She talked to Katie and Ariana about it. So if you go to Betches.com right now, you can check that out. I do recommend if you don't have time to wait in line for four hours. I, okay, I've seen some people, and I don't, look, I don't want this to be like something about her, like, defending against the haters' podcast because I really have no skin in this game. But I was on Twitter this morning, X.com.
Starting point is 00:02:02 They rebranded. And there's this woman making a video complaining about how she waited in line and didn't end up getting a sandwich because they like sold out of stuff. And she's like the things that we went through, the shit that we saw. Now go listen to my podcast where I talk about it. It's like you went to a small business, a tiny business on opening day of a lot of people were there because a lot of people want to try out the sandwiches. And there was high demand. Nothing happened. There's no, there's no scandal there.
Starting point is 00:02:40 Is it annoying? Yeah, of course. But like, nobody like took food out of your hand. Nobody like, I don't know. But anyway, something about hers opening. I'm curious like if this long line phenomenon was just for opening day or if like it's going to be like that for a while. I don't have any plans to be in L.A. at the moment.
Starting point is 00:03:01 but I feel like maybe if I'm from there later this year or something, I'll definitely try and try and figure out as something about her situation. But we'll see. Anyway, if you go, let me know how it is. We're going to be taking some mailbag questions. You guys submitted a lot of really great stuff. So I'm going to get to those a little bit later in the episode. But as I promised yesterday, I am going to talk about the Valley. And oh, boy, am I glad that I saved the Valley for today's episode. I mean, first of all, because there's not much happening on Wednesday nights right now, but also because I have a lot of thoughts about this week's episode of The Valley. We're still in Big Bear. We're at the baby moon from hell. And oh, boy, like, the vibes in this cast are so fucking rancid in a way that is like so
Starting point is 00:03:49 deeply, wildly compelling to watch. It is, it is kind of astounding how much is going on. this lakehouse and how how many tears are shed in this episode, how many marital squabbles there are. It just, it feels like this cast is really delivering from every angle. And every week when I sit down to watch the Valley, I am surprised how much this show is delivering. And we have, I think, two more episodes left this season. It seems like they're going to come to a pretty strong conclusion and good for them. So we start the episode where we left off with Jack's, you know, of course, delicately handling his piece of information from Kristen about Michelle sending sexy pictures to other men besides her husband.
Starting point is 00:04:40 And first of all, I don't know if I brought this up last week. I don't love like 30 and 40-year-old adults using the phrase sexy pictures over and over again. I'm like, okay. I get that maybe we don't want to say like nudes. Maybe that feels like a little too on the nose. And I don't know in these alleged sexy pictures, that can mean a lot of different things. I'm like, okay, so is Michelle sending like a photo where she's wearing like a dress
Starting point is 00:05:14 that looks kind of hot on her? Is it a swimsuit photo? Is it like a tasteful like boudoir kind of photo shoot kind of? vibe. Is it like what Larsa Pippin says that she sends on only fans where like maybe there's like a little bit of butt or like maybe there's like a little bit of like like boob? Like you're holding like holding a boob. Sexy pictures could be like literally anything. And so that also just adds to the confusion here where at first Michelle is like well yeah. Like I I text a lot of guys and Jesse knows about that. And then Jacks is like okay but like you text guys like sexy. pictures and she's like, well, no, I don't. But I text for real estate, for networking. And some people don't understand networking. Like, she kind of, it seems like she's saying she did send the, God, the sexy, I don't, I don't want to say sexy pictures. I need like a nickel in the jar every
Starting point is 00:06:10 time I say sexy pictures in this episode because I just, I don't want to do it. But then Jesse calls Jacks out and he's like, he's like, what are you talking? I don't want to, I'm not going to do the game of telephone, which honestly, good for her. him. If everybody's in the house and they're talking about this, just talk about it together. But then he's like, it's networking. I don't care. But then I'm like, do you care if there were sexy pictures? Kling in the jar? Like, I think the thing with Jesse and Michelle is that there are all of these rumors swirling around going back to the weird hallway fight that happened at the, the Jack's's hair loss business partnership dinner. And I think.
Starting point is 00:06:53 it's hard to get a read on how much Jesse and Michelle actually give a shit about what's happening in their marriage because clearly Michelle is like checked out. Jesse says that he wants to work on it, but knows that Michelle is checked out. So he basically knows that nothing good is going to happen in their marriage. So it's like, okay, so maybe she wasn't sending sexy pictures, but then if she was sending sexy pictures, then is that something that Jesse even would have an issue with? But if he did, would she care? And then, like, there's no, at a certain point, if you're watching a couple, like, in theory, try to work through their stuff, but they both have pretty much accepted that they're not going to get anywhere, like, the stakes start to feel a little bit non-existent.
Starting point is 00:07:45 Because it's like, okay, you're either going to separate right now or you're going to separate a month from now, and they did end up separating, like, a month after filming ended. So it's like, okay. I don't really, I'm not like, there's not a lot of, um, there's not a lot of upside here to really like putting in the effort. And so then I guess that's why it's, it makes more sense to spend time talking about Brittany and Jacks. Because according to Jacks on this episode, um, they don't believe in divorce. They don't believe in separation. They're gonna, they're, they're gonna stay together. Britney's not going to leave. He's not going to leave. He's not going to leave. They're going to tough it out. And, you know, this is a classic, a classic reality
Starting point is 00:08:25 TV thing of like marriage is hard. And, you know, it's, you have to put in work. But it's good. And it makes you better and stronger. And it feels like Jacks is like definitely doing those like straight toxic male talking points where it's like, well, yeah, we hate each other sometimes. But like, that's marriage. It's like, oh, yeah. Come back in six months. So good, so good, so good. Everything you want for summer is at Nordstrom Rack stores now and up to 60% off.
Starting point is 00:09:03 Stock up and save on the brands you love like Vince, Sam Edelman, Frame, and Free People. Join the Norty Club to unlock exclusive discounts, shop new arrivals first, and more. Plus, buy online and pick up at your favorite rack store for free. Great brands, great prices. That's why you rack. Girl, winter is so last season. And now spring's got you looking at pictures of tank tops with hungry eyes. Your algorithm is feeding you cutoffs.
Starting point is 00:09:32 You're thirsty for the sun on your shoulders. That perfect hang on the patio sundress. Those sandals you can wear all day and all night. And you've had enough of shopping from your couch. Done hoping it looks anything like the picture when you tear open that envelope? It's time for a little in-person spring treat. It's time for a trip to Ross. Work your magic.
Starting point is 00:09:51 Okay, so Brittany has been... Brittany throwing up has become a central point of this season because Brittany has a little issue where either she gets a little drunky or something is upsetting her stomach or maybe she's a little stressed because Jacks is yelling at her. But she's just, you know, she's, she's dealing with some gastrointestinal issues. Maybe it's a little, maybe she has like some acid reflux she needs to get under control. maybe it's the drinking. I don't know.
Starting point is 00:10:26 I don't know her life. But Jack's just like is incapable of having any kind of bedside manner with the wife and mother of his child. That it's like literally while she's like face down in the toilet, yuck, yuck, yucking. And he's like, man, Brittany fucking drunk again. God damn it. God. That's why you do shots on the boat. Be a mom.
Starting point is 00:10:53 Act like a mom. I was like, what? What is the goal here? Because if the goal is just to like make her feel like a piece of shit, I guess congratulations, you're succeeding. But if you're also saying 30 minutes later that you are going to stay together, that you don't believe in divorce, that you, whatever, then it's like, why are you not willing to put like a little bit of effort? into your communication style so you don't end up just like yelling at your wife as she is physically sick. And it's like maybe she was drinking on the boat. Maybe she wasn't drinking on the boat. The other women say that she wasn't drinking on the boat because Britney told them to. But also,
Starting point is 00:11:42 I don't know if Britney was drunk. But then when Britney's in the room and Jacks is asking the women and they're like, she drank zero on the boat, he's like, no, mm-mm, no, no. Nope. And then Britney's like, Jess, I could hear you in the room. And he's like, so what? Who cares? He goes in and she's like, I wasn't drinking.
Starting point is 00:12:05 He's like, okay, okay, okay. But then it's like he clearly doesn't believe her. So then the second he leaves the room, he's back in the kitchen being like, man, she's fucking drunk again. Every time we go out. Be a mom. Act like a mom.
Starting point is 00:12:24 Somebody asked, I'm jumping the gun a little bit on our listener questions, but somebody asked something that really got my wheels turning a little bit. Zoe sent in the question, is Jack's trying to make Brittany look bad for custody purposes? And this is so interesting because just yesterday, I was talking about the situation with Catherine Dennis and Thomas Ravenel and the long and winding road that their custody situation has taken over the last several years. And so it's interesting. to think about a couple that is at the very beginning of their, you know, separation, they're not separated yet on the show, but, you know, they're just now at a point where they're going to have to start looking at custody and all of that stuff. And, you know, Cruz is only a few years old. They've got a long road ahead of them in terms of co-parenting. And so it's not inconceivable that if Jack's filming the show sees the writing on the wall, they might not make it. And so, it's not make it, I'm going to kind of paint her in this light a little bit. But here's the thing.
Starting point is 00:13:32 I don't think that Jacks is that calculating and that, honestly, that, like, strategic and smart. I think he's just like a dumb asshole. And I think that he is being an asshole to his wife because he is incapable of not being an asshole. And over the last decade plus that we've, you know, known him, air quotes, whatever, when has he not been an asshole? I don't think this is something where last summer, as they were filming this show, he's saying to the camera that he doesn't believe in divorce and they're going to make it, but there's actually an ulterior motive where he knows that they're not going to make it.
Starting point is 00:14:16 And he's like, if I call her an alcoholic enough times on camera, then a judge is going to watch that footage back and be like, you know what, you're right. She did throw up a lot during the show. Maybe I'm giving him too much credit, but I just don't, I think he's too dumb for that. And I think that he is really just a shitty guy being shitty to the person who's like in his field of vision the most. And I don't know. I mean, I don't know enough about how custody situations work and what if this, you know, if the footage from the valley is something that a judge would be, like, reviewing. Again, my dream job is, like, being the judge who has to just, like, watch housewives to come to a conclusion. But I don't know.
Starting point is 00:15:03 I don't want to think that that's the case because that is just so slimy. And I think that Jack sucks in a lot of ways. But I don't think that he is, like, I don't think that he operates at that level. We'll see. But it is, it is just, like, so, it's so frustrating. to see this play out week after week because it's so like for years going back to when they got engaged, going back to when they were dating on Vanderpump Rules, it was just like, Britney girl, get out of there. And I know that Britney's hands aren't 100% clean in this.
Starting point is 00:15:36 Like she has her shit too. You know, it's they're, they were a match made in heaven until they weren't. But it does just feel like, wow, they've been together for nine years they keep saying. and like he hasn't grown one speck of growth. If anything, I think he's gotten more complacent, more comfortable in because this is his wife and he thinks that she'll never leave him. He doesn't really ever have to make those strides to show that he's trying because they're going to wake up the next morning and she's going to be like,
Starting point is 00:16:17 I love you so much. I hate when we fight. But can we have a date night sometime? No, all right. That's okay. I know you're stressed with the bar and stuff. When's me, ma'am all coming?
Starting point is 00:16:35 I'm sorry. Can't hold myself. But yeah, I mean, it's nice to know that Brittany is finally seeing the light, I guess. We have, I can't, I can't not bring up that, Jacks in this episode is wearing his own merch.
Starting point is 00:16:52 He's wearing a number one guy in the group sweatshirt. And I don't want to seem like I am biased or hypocritical because a couple weeks ago I did come down pretty hard on Teresa and Louis for wearing their own self-referential merch on Real House Stories of New Jersey. So I do just have to mention that Jacks is wearing this self-referential Vanderpump Rules merch sweatshirt. And I think that that is distasteful. I think that that is not in the spirit of the show.
Starting point is 00:17:16 and I also think that it's a little lame that he is still stuck on this number one guy in the group thing when he is no longer in the group. And he hasn't been for a few years. I'm sorry. When you talk about the number one guy in the group, you're referring to the group that is on the show on the television program, Vanderpump Rules. And that has not included him in three seasons.
Starting point is 00:17:39 So pack it up. Get a new bit. You're not the number one guy in the group. You're no longer in the group. Hot take? Is Jack still in the group? No. I make the rules.
Starting point is 00:17:52 But there's, okay, there's this like weird moment in the show, which I didn't, I was kind of into it. Okay, so they're back at the house. They're making dinner. First of all, on these shows, always get a chef. I don't say this as somebody of hiring a chef experience, but I say this as somebody of watching a lot of reality TV experience. And if you're staying at a house and it's like a low-key, weekend. You don't want to cook dinner. What? You're going to grill burgers for 10 people and then
Starting point is 00:18:27 it's going to be like 9 p.m. by the time anything's ready. Half the food's going to be cold. Half of it's going to be burnt. You know, Michelle's like, oh, I don't cook, but I'll pretend to help. It's like, we don't need pretend helpers. We need a chef. Where is the budget? But also, I'm kind of glad the budget's low. But anyway, so the women are the women are inside cooking. Of course, course. If there's any group of guys that are going to be like, oh, the girls can cook, let's go out on the deck and, like, have a chat while they cook. It's going to be this group of guys. It's going to be Jacks. It's going to be Jesse. Look, Jason and Danny, they're not innocent either. But anyway, they're all having this, like, weirdly raw heart to heart on the deck where, like,
Starting point is 00:19:13 Jesse is crying about the situation in his marriage. And then like Danny and him have this, they make up over like what's happening. And Jacks is talking about what's happening with his marriage. Jason is over here like, yo, like I'm about to have my first kid and this is my baby moon. And like you guys are really making this whole having kids and a wife thing seem pretty bleak. and I don't know if that was really the point of this trip,
Starting point is 00:19:46 but they're having this, like, deep thing where Jesse's like, all I want is a second baby. And Michelle doesn't want it. And Jackson's like, me too, man. All I want is another kid. And then Janet comes, Janet opens the door. Just to be like, hey guys, can you help with the grill? And Jesse's like, no, get inside.
Starting point is 00:20:06 Go inside. Like, I was, I literally had to rewind it because I'm like, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait. It would be one thing. It still wouldn't be a good look, but it would be one thing if, like, Janet's own husband was like, hey, we're having a thing out here. Would you mind giving us a minute? But the way that Jesse just like whips his head around and it's like, nope, get back in. Get in there. Back in the kitchen. I was, I was shocked to speak like that to a woman, to somebody else's wife when her husband is sitting right there. I'm not even like a, I'm not like a traditional family values, you know, soldier.
Starting point is 00:20:52 Like, I don't really give a shit. But it's like, you don't speak like that to anyone. And it was like, okay, yeah, they were having like a moment of, they were having an emotional moment out there on the deck, but they weren't like telling secrets. They were just having like a, I was like, oh God, that, that's a red flag. It's like, even if you don't like Janet, it's like, yikes. The whole thing also, okay, so like Zach and Kristen having their weird little spa day and like Zach posting an Instagram story and like geotagging Big Bear to make them think that
Starting point is 00:21:24 they're going to show up. It's like, get a life. I know that it's annoying you weren't invited on the trip, but like, come on. Why are we playing these games? I think that Zach and Kristen, it's like, they're being put in a tough position of like having to sort of like keep their balls in the air while. everything is happening elsewhere. But like, it's starting to look a little.
Starting point is 00:21:49 It's a, it's a, it's a, it's a little pathetic. I'm excited for them to come back from the trip just so we can have like everybody in the same place again. But also it's like Janet acting like she literally is in like physical danger because Zach and Kristen might be in Big Bear. It's like, girl, please. It's not that deep. Like the worst thing that's going to happen is he's going to come crash the house and be like,
Starting point is 00:22:10 Janet, you thought you couldn't invite me, mama? I'm here anyways. Okay. He's not going to like punch you. He's not going to like throw you off the balcony. It's fine. These people are a little dramatic, which I mean, thank God. But okay.
Starting point is 00:22:29 So we're going to pivot into a little bit of questions. But first, I'm going to read this thing that Jack's, I keep saying Jacks said on his podcast this week. He and Brittany, I guess he and Brittany are still podcasting together. God, like, It was so bleak. Don't ever let me podcast with somebody I'm in a relationship with because if it ends, they're not staying on the show. But anyway, Jacks and Brittany were talking about whether they should bring more people from Vanderpump Rules to the Valley for season two.
Starting point is 00:22:57 Brittany is like, I'll think it will be photoberg training on law. But this is Jacks, and I'm reading a quote. I personally don't think we need to bring anyone from Vanderpump rules over. I'm not trying to make this Vanderpump rules. This is the valley. This is not an extension of Van der Spunk rules. Vanderpump Rules. I'm really proud of our show, and I think it isn't fair for our cast members after they worked so hard to just bring people over. Is Jackson fucking for real? What do you mean
Starting point is 00:23:25 it's not an extension of Vanderpump Rules? Why do you think this show got greenlit? Why do you think literally anybody was going to care to watch this? And I don't want to like pump up Jacks's ego and be like, you're the reason the show exists because like we've been down the like Jackson's show rode before. And I think that this show wouldn't have worked if it was like just a few Vanderpump Rules left over people. But like, this show literally is an extension of Vanderpump rules. What are you talking about? Why are you acting like all of a sudden because you've done one season of this show, it would be some big insult to have Sheena pop up on a few episodes. Like, who do you think you are? You're not an executive producer on this shit. And I, I mean,
Starting point is 00:24:08 I have mixed feelings about whether I want to see the show. Vanderpump Rules creep more into the valley, but not because I think it's like against the spirit of the project and it would be such a slap in the face to Danny and Nia that they would have to film a scene with Lala. Like, get over yourself. Anyway, I'm sad that this show is going to be over soon, but I do need to go a while without thinking about Jack's Taylor. I think he's in my brain a little bit too much. Starting point is 00:25:33 Watch only on Prime. But let's change gears and focus on some of these questions because you guys send some good ones. First up, Jenny asked, how would you rank all the Housewives franchises based on their most recent seasons. This was tricky because obviously we're like, we're watching New Jersey right now, but I feel like we haven't seen enough of the season to really like fully rank based on that.
Starting point is 00:26:01 So I guess I'm kind of just going over like my general vibe for Jersey. I don't think it makes sense to include Atlanta because they had a bad season and then are half, more than half rebooting. So I'm like, okay, Atlanta, I guess the bottom. I guess last. And then Dubai was a little tricky too because it's been almost two years since the first season of Dubai premiered. It's coming back very soon. I actually have seen the premiere of the new season and I think it's promising. We're going to be having some Dubai ladies on the show hopefully soon. So I think Dubai is, Dubai is the biggest question mark, but I'm not really going to rank it for
Starting point is 00:26:41 now. But like I said, I think Atlanta kind of at the bottom. And then unfortunately, I think Potomac is is next to last right now, just because that season just, the air really came out of the tires. And they have gone back into filming pretty quickly. I'm hopeful that there will be some new energy. I don't really know exactly what to expect. But yeah, Potomac is kind of down there. And then I think New York and New Jersey are kind of neck and neck for the next spot. I think that New Jersey, the last season was kind of the big finale of the like Teresa and Melissa a, you know, 10-season arc. And so it had gotten a little tired, and I think we were all ready for something different. But also, you know, they cast a really exciting group of newbies last
Starting point is 00:27:26 season who are still on the show this year. And I think that there's potential for this season to be really good, but we're still kind of waiting to see where it falls. And Roney, I, you know, we've talked a lot about season 14. I think they did a really good job with the reboot. I think the cast is a lot of fun. But it was a first season for all intents and purposes. And I'm, I'm sort of, I'm holding my stock. I'm waiting to see kind of like how this cast is able to develop into a longer running group. And so we'll see. But Roney and New Jersey, you know, kind of in the middle of the pack. And then moving up from there, I put Orange County next. I think that they had a really great season 17. And their stock, I feel like, has not been, it's
Starting point is 00:28:11 It's higher than it's been in years. I think there is so much anticipation for their upcoming season that they've just finished filming. Everything that's happening with Shannon and Alexis Bellino dating John and coming back to the show and everything that's happening with Jen Padranti and her fiance and her falling out with Tamara and Tamara falling out with Shannon. Like there is so much to unpack coming up. And I think their last season was really strong to, I'm going to miss Taylor. I'm sad that she's not sticking around.
Starting point is 00:28:39 but a good season of Orange County. And then the top two, I think, are Miami and Salt Lake City. Salt Lake, I think, really had a sort of unexpectedly great fourth season after the whole Jen saga kind of wrapped up. We were really not sure where they were going to go from there. And I think they really, they pulled out all the stops. They made it happen. I think Angie Kay was like a shockingly good addition.
Starting point is 00:29:03 Monica was a flash in the pan, but one that we really needed. And then Miami, I think that Miami is probably the. top just in terms of the consistency. I mean, they've, they've just brought it these last three seasons that they've been back. And it's, it's such a fun show to watch on top of, you know, the drama and the scandal and the fights and stuff. It's, it's just, it makes me happy. And I am, I'm frustrated that it's taking them so long to start filming this next season. I don't really, you know, I've talked about it before. I don't understand. But I think Miami, it's, it's kind of the crown jewel. And I'm I think it is a little bit slept on.
Starting point is 00:29:41 So if you are, you know, if you're still holding out for something, I don't know, watch Real House House of Miami. You won't regret it. And I got to say, I've been thinking lately, I miss Dallas. I don't know what it would look like for them to bring back Dallas at this point, but I feel like it could be time. I don't know, something to noodle on. Okay, next question.
Starting point is 00:30:02 It's not really a question, but Fiona said, and I thought this was really interesting, think about this. You would never want to hang out with anyone. one on West Coast shows, but East Coast shows are idols and seem like a great time. When I first read this, I was like, that's not true. And then I took a step back and thinking just about housewives for the most part, I'm like, wait, okay, the New York cast seems like a good time. I would hang out with those girls.
Starting point is 00:30:29 The Jersey cast, maybe not all of them. But like, if you were to be like down the shore with like Margaret and Melissa or Dolores, I mean, like, think, yeah, I want to have a cocktail with Dolores. Even Potomac. It's like I would, I would go out with Ashley. Seems like a fun time. Some of the Miami ladies would be a fun hang. And then I'm thinking about like these West Coast Housewives and I'm like, Orange County,
Starting point is 00:30:56 who would I get along with there? As great of TV as like Tamara and Heather Dubrow are, I'm like, I don't think we're like paling around the bars. maybe like a Gina and Emily would be fun. Even that, I'm like, I don't. Beverly Hills is a little bit of a tough crowd too. Like I think Crystal and I would have fun together. Maybe like Sutton and Garcel could come hang out. But Salt Lake too, I just, I'm like, oh, I feel like the, it's always the Thunderdome.
Starting point is 00:31:27 Like the vibes are just a little weird. So it is interesting. It's interesting to think about how these different cities and different regions kind of manifest differently in these, in these shows. And I'm like, yeah, I guess. I would rather hang out with Summerhouse people than Vanderpump people, I think, for the most part. That's an interesting little dynamic. I don't know. Good observation. I like that. Emily asked, how would you cast Summerhouse next season? We are, we're getting close to the end. We got our reunion looks. And this is, I think that Summerhouse casting, I don't know what they're going to do at all, but it feels like we're at more of a,
Starting point is 00:32:06 crossroads than we've had probably since that third season when Hannah and Paige and Jordan joined and we kind of lost the work as twins and the, you know, kind of that like original crew. And I think that the biggest question is what do you do with Lindsay and Carl? Because obviously they have broken up in case you weren't aware. I am really curious to see what their dynamic is at the reunion. But I think it's safe to say that they're not going to be like besties after this. And we've talked a lot on Vanderpump Rules this season about how tough it is to have people on a show together where they all have to be hanging out when they would never be hanging out in real life. And so I don't think that it is feasible to have Carl and Lindsay both full time
Starting point is 00:32:54 on this upcoming season of Summer House. I just don't think it makes sense. And I think in this world of fourth wall breaking and social media and people knowing to read between the lines, I just don't think there's a way to sort of like present that that would actually feel authentic. And so it pains me to say it, but I think, I think it might be time for Carl to take some time away. Obviously, he's been on this sobriety journey for a few years now. That is, can be complicated sometimes in the house. I think that just in terms of the overall makeup of the group, I think that Lindsay would probably make more sense to keep. But even with Lindsay, I'm like, I could see it making sense for her to be
Starting point is 00:33:41 more of a friend of this season, to like pop in for a few weekends. Basically, what I was thinking about this, what I came down to is that I feel like this season more than ever, Summerhouse feels like it is positioning Paige as kind of the main, like, tent pull of the show. I think Bravo really likes Paige. I think her relationship with Craig has honestly been a big, you know, kind of a big development across the network. I think that fans really like Paige. I think she's having a good season. And I think that, you know, Sierra still makes sense on the show. I think that Amanda still makes sense on the show. I think Gabby has been nice this season. I think Danielle might be, might be on the chopping block. But when I think about future seasons of Summerhouse and what direction kind of
Starting point is 00:34:33 makes sense, not necessarily in terms of just this coming season, but like if we're looking at this a five-year plan for Summer House, I think that now is really when it makes sense to start moving away from the sort of OG foursome that we still have left. So Carl and Lindsay, Kyle, Danielle, Amanda also in there. Like, those are people who feel like they have maybe outgrown this platform, this format, this type of show. And that doesn't mean we never see them again on the show. It doesn't mean we never see them again on some other show. I just think that if you were to keep Paige, Amanda and Kyle, maybe they stay in one more season. You have Sierra, you have West, you have Jesse, maybe you have Gabby, a few new people. That feels like a group that has some.
Starting point is 00:35:29 some legs, where I think right now, with Lindsay and Carl taking up those two spots with Danielle taking up a spot, and I'm sure Lindsay and Carl are not small. They're probably the biggest salaries on the show along with Kyle, I would say. And so if they weren't around or weren't around full time, at least that would free up some budget, which is a consideration on these shows, I think, whether or not we always talk about it. I have a feeling that that's the direction we're headed. And sort of going along with that, Marissa asked for, predictions on whether West and Jesse will continue to be sort of fan favorites next season or whether that maybe that bubble will burst a little bit.
Starting point is 00:36:10 And that's a really interesting question. I feel like we have a history on these shows of like somebody coming on and having sort of a fan favorite vibe their first season. And then sort of running out of steam or turning a little toxic or just kind of overplaying their hand a little bit on. their second season. And I think it's just too soon to tell. I mean, they haven't filmed a second season. We don't have any sort of like tea leaves on where the group is going. It certainly seems like West and Jesse are still well liked by the cast. I imagine they both will be brought back for a second season. I think it depends maybe how their relationship situations progress. I think West obviously has been like, you know, on off whatever's happening with Sierra. I don't know
Starting point is 00:36:59 if that's kind of going to continue at all, or, you know, if he has like a fuckboy narrative in his personal life next season, I think that that will make people feel a little more skeptical about like standing him. But I don't know. I mean, I think, I think that they will continue to be well liked. I don't know if they will get the kind of like, you know, we love this person, this rookie kind of reception. But yeah, that's where we're at. I have a few more questions. I'm going to save some for next week because I feel like this is a good. a good little list to keep going.
