Starting point is 00:00:00 Girl, winter is so last season. And now spring's got you looking at pictures of tank tops with hungry eyes. Your algorithm is feeding you cutoffs. You're thirsty for the sun on your shoulders. That perfect hang on the patio sundress. Those sandals you can wear all day and all night. And you've had enough of shopping from your couch. Done hoping it looks anything like the picture when you tear up on that envelope.
Starting point is 00:00:24 It's time for a little in-person spring treat. It's time for a trip to Ross. Work your magic. Betch's media presents. Ha ha, laugh, funny. Mention It All. A Bravo by Betcha's podcast. We don't say that, but now we said it.
Starting point is 00:00:41 With Dylan Hafer. Who don't check me, though? And Barry Rosenfeld. I need to start drinking alcohol. Now go to sleep week. Hey, everyone. Welcome back to the Mention at All podcast. I'm Dylan Hafer.
Starting point is 00:00:53 And I'm Barry Rosenfeld. It is Friday. It is Friday. We made it. Wow. It's a very special. Friday because tomorrow actually Saturday. So if you're listening to this today, whenever you're listening to it, Saturday is the one year anniversary of the Mentioned It All podcast.
Starting point is 00:01:13 Thank you all so much for continuing this journey with us. It's so fun. That makes me think of like at the end of The Bachelor if they don't get engaged, but they're like staying together. They're like, we're going to continue the journey. And we will continue the journey. We've got lots of exciting things, you know, planned for this year two coming up. It's crazy we've done like 140s, like well over 100 episodes. If you have been listening since the beginning, of course, we are happy to have you. If you've started listening later, you know, feel free to go back, check out some of those old episodes. I was going through yesterday. I have this like folder on my computer of all of the screenshots from when we've done Zoom interviews,
Starting point is 00:02:05 which since we started this podcast a year ago, all of our interviews have been Zoom interviews, unfortunately. But it's crazy how many people we've had on this podcast in a year. I know. And it is crazy to think we started this podcast in a pandemic. Like in a pandemic, we started and we are still in a pandemic, not back at the office. Like, Dylan, we're going to have to practice together the first time we were like face to face or maybe just the days that we're supposed to record. Like, we just stay home and like continue to Zoom.
Starting point is 00:02:39 I'm going to ask that we sit in different rooms so we can still have the video experience because I don't think I'm ready for an in-person thing. No, but it's been a great year. Barry, are there any special guests or anything that you have particularly enjoyed from the past year? Of course, we would never say a favorite or least favorite. but just any moments that stick out. Well, to be honest, I don't have a least favorite. And you know I would be honest with that because let me tell you, every time, you know, we post on our stories,
Starting point is 00:03:11 who we interviewed, all my friends are always like, oh my God, oh my God. And you, and you listeners are like, how were they? And every single time, every guess we've had is so nice. And I'm always, we always joke. I'm always waiting for that one that like we, you know, we're like, oh, that was okay. But like, we haven't had that.
Starting point is 00:03:28 Like they were all so nice, but like, to be, to be honest, like, I have, I have my list here too. I was like going through them. Like I, I had a really fun time with Justin Sylvester. I, I like, really enjoyed talking to him and also any of the housewives, like, Dorete was so fun. Luan was so fun. All of that. Yeah, I will think it's. Brandy was a trip.
Starting point is 00:03:53 It's fun when you get, I mean, every interview is different. We've had a lot of. really interesting interviews, but it's fun when you get somebody on and you can tell right away that they're kind of just like in the mood to be messy. Brandy is certainly in that category. But I remember, like, when we had Whitney on from Real House of Salt Lake City, I was like, oh, like, I'm sure she'll be really sweet. And then five minutes later, she's talking shit about Lisa Barlow.
Starting point is 00:04:16 And I'm like, you know, this makes my heart sing. Yeah, um, Lisa Barlow blocked me on Instagram. So I will. Oh, yeah, she did. Yeah, she did. So it's okay, though. Like, we'll be fine. Like, we have her meet in person.
Starting point is 00:04:27 and I'll be like, hey girl. But also, like, Sheena was so fun. She went to, we interviewed her. She was at the club and her bathing. Dylan, did any particular one stick out to you? So, like I was saying, Whitney, it was super fun. I also loved last season. For Roney, we had Luann as our first ever guest.
Starting point is 00:04:47 And then we also had Leah on. I loved interviewing both of them. And, yeah, Rony's coming back up. So I'm sure more fun, Roney's surprises in store. Leo was cool to have on because she was very new to the show. And like, we had, we had her on before, like, her social media really, like, blew up. And it was, like, very authentic. She's a very, like, genuine, authentic person.
Starting point is 00:05:12 But I love Leah. But anyway. Totally. Okay. No more looking at the past. Now we're all about the present, baby. Today, we have two shows to get to. We're going to talk about Summer House and below deck sailing.
Starting point is 00:05:27 This episode of Summerhouse, I feel like it was just kind of a natural continuation of last week because last week was like all of the couples are descending upon the house. We had Stravi come back. We had Robert. We had Des. And this week is kind of like part two of like couples retreat at the summer house. Totally. And we see in previews for next week that Stravy does not stay long, but we will get there. I have to say my phone was blowing up last.
Starting point is 00:05:57 night just because like Hannah is continuing to just like not have the bet like it's so crazy. I'm like are they giving her a bad edit or what? Like I don't know. It's like I don't it's hard. She is fighting with with everyone. I don't know if it's making it like I don't. It's very difficult to see. I would say obviously we don't.
Starting point is 00:06:20 I mean, it might be the edit that could. I would say it reminds me more of last season of Beverly Hills when. we were watching the whole kind of like everyone pile on Denise type of vibe. It felt like the other women like Rina, Kyle, Teddy, it felt like they thought that the audience was really going to be on their side. And then it just kind of didn't end up playing out that way. And I feel like it's sort of similar with Hannah and Luke and everyone else right now that you can kind of tell. I think Hannah thinks she's right.
Starting point is 00:06:54 Like I don't think that I don't think that she's like. being fake or playing something up just for the show. But I think that she felt like people were going to be like on her side and be like, yeah, fuck Luke. Like, fuck all these people for asking questions and like whatever. And I think that unfortunately for her, that just kind of isn't the reaction that most people have had watching this season. And I personally feel like I'm never like, I've never been like Luke's biggest fan.
Starting point is 00:07:24 Like I don't really care about him. Yeah. But I feel like, this season, aside from some specific moments where I think he's been kind of a douchebag, I kind of get where he's coming from. And I don't think that he looks like some villain or some, you know, historic fuckboy this season. I think he just kind of seems like a dude who like is kind of trying to mind his own business at this point and like look out for his friends. I agree. I also like love the word douchebag. Like it just comes off so like well when you say it,
Starting point is 00:07:56 like about someone, you know, it's like always, it just always sounds good. I'll try to pepper it into the conversation. Thanks. But we have another theme. It was Derby Day, which I loved. I thought they go all out. They all look so good.
Starting point is 00:08:13 They all look so good. Page obviously killed it. I have to say, I'm actually annoyed that she never posted. I'm sure she'll do it on the reunion day. But we didn't even get a sneak peek of what she's wearing for the reunion. And I'm annoyed personally. Well, I'm sure.
Starting point is 00:08:26 okay, they're always like, they're not allowed to post their reunion looks until Bravo like releases them. So I'm sure there's like... Well, they did it right the second. They're up. Oh, they're, wait, really? Yeah, they actually all look really good.
Starting point is 00:08:39 Oh, God. Wait, okay. Like Bravo literally just posted on Instagram. Oh, my God. Wow. Breaking, breaking news. Breaking news, you guys. Hold, give us one second.
Starting point is 00:08:53 I thought Derby days was good. I loved, I love like the, you know, I love like the very petty. like unnecessary things that just like truly don't matter. And so I loved when Lindsay got mad at Amanda for cheating in the running versus galloping jockey race. And it's like, Lindsay, Lindsay, please. But are they, when that whole scene was happening, same thing with the jockey, like that they stole the jockey. Like, is there like an underlying issue that we don't know about?
Starting point is 00:09:22 Because it seemed very like not joking from Lindsay's end because she's obviously very very competitive and even back in her room everyone was like partying and having fun and Lindsay was like she fucking cheated. I don't like a cheater. I feel like Lindsay and Amanda have always had some kind of like a little bit of tension. Like it's not it's not like a big deal this season. But I think Lindsay and Amanda are like just very different kinds of people. Like they're maybe not each other's cup of tea just like Des is not Luke's cup of tea. Oh my God. We, okay. So Des is there to visit Hannah. It's very clear.
Starting point is 00:10:04 That's what's going on. But I do have to say I agree a little bit that like he wasn't hanging out with the guys. Like I see both sides of that where Hannah was like he's not here to visit the guys, you know. But even in like the downtime like he wasn't even getting to know them. They were always away like in her room or alone on the beach, whatever. But you know what? She was like she is starting a new relationship. She does have to, I don't know, see if they connect, which clearly they do.
Starting point is 00:10:27 The thing to me, I don't think it was about the guys. I think that was something that Hannah was putting in his mouth. What other people were saying was that it wasn't just the guys. It was that they, the two of them weren't joining the group with the house. Like after derby days when everyone was hanging out in the living area, they were apart. You know, multiple other times. They didn't go to the beach. All of this stuff.
Starting point is 00:10:50 So I don't think it was like, Des isn't coming around the guys and he's not like sucking up to the guys. I think it was like nobody in the house really got to spend time with him. And so I think I think Hannah was using the guys thing as a way to like. To blame it on Luke. Right. Because she's like, well, he doesn't like Luke and he doesn't like Kyle. So why would he hang out with the guys? And it's like the girls feel the same way too.
Starting point is 00:11:15 Yeah. No, I totally agree. As a group effort like someone would you, if those are your friends, you would think they would try to like get to know them. And I think everyone, it's everyone understood like obviously he's coming to visit you. you guys want to spend time together. But if they're in the house for like three or four days and you're like missing meals and activities and stuff, it's like, you can like participate and still have quality time together.
Starting point is 00:11:41 Totally. And after Des left on his way out from the beach, he like made that remark to Kyle. I'm like, I'm not kidding. My jaw actually dropped when he was like, hopefully I'll be invited to your wedding and then like left. And I was like, that is so awkward. Oh my God. It made me like really uncomfortable. but then later on when the girls were all having their little talk and Hannah like said she's like and I told him everything Kyle said and Amanda got pissed but she had every right to be because she's like you guys are good right now like why do you have to like make Kyle look like a bad guy to this to your at that point wasn't a boyfriend but then they got more heated and I don't know page told Hannah twice like relax you're getting defensive like it's just a conversation like right everyone chill I thought yeah I thought it was like like
Starting point is 00:12:27 I was glad when Amanda kind of clarified that it's like nobody is attacking Des. We're not saying that Desd did anything wrong. We're saying that we wish you would have brought him more around the house. Like when you're hosting your, you know, like new partner in a house of your friends, that's on you. It's not on like, why didn't, why weren't they more outgoing? I don't know. I feel like they need some time apart like Hannah and the rest of these people. Yeah. So I mean, she did say that. She was like, you guys, no offense. Like, I've been with you for the last five weeks, which, like, totally makes sense. But can we also talk about how miserable each episode page is getting in her relationship
Starting point is 00:13:07 with Perry? Because, like, she did make it clear. Like, it was a, she was like, he hasn't come to dinner in the Hamptons once, but he wants me to go to Miami for six months. Like, that's not going to happen. Like, it's just she's, she's getting, like, so fed up that I wonder if we're, because next week is the season finale, correct? Yeah. I think. So I wonder if we're even going to see that happen. I'm not sure. I don't know. Like the breakup? Yeah. I kind of doubt it. But yeah. I mean, she clearly is just not invested in that at all. And I mean, we know they're not together now. I'm the whole Lindsay and Stravi thing is interesting to me. So they officially get back together. Lindsay when she's drunk is like, yeah, we're boyfriend, girlfriend, which whatever. But I, I thought it was even more interesting the next day that Danielle is, um,
Starting point is 00:13:57 very solid in her opinion about Stephen and tells Lindsay, you know, I still don't think he's the one for you. And I have to say, I think there are very few people who would have that response when they find out their friend gets back together. Like even if they feel that way, I think most people would at least at first kind of be like, okay, like, yay. But Danielle is very, you know, she is sticking to her guns and not, you know, not just going along with whatever Lindsay is like excited about at the moment. And I thought that was, yeah, I was kind of impressed with Danielle. Well, also, she, I think she knew. Lindsay went around the house and told everyone, we drunkenly got back together last night. So I think Danielle was also like, hey, just like a heads
Starting point is 00:14:47 up, you weren't in the right like state of mind when you did this. So she's just, like I think Danielle's a really good friend. And listen, we all, she said what everyone else is thinking. So that right there makes you a good friend because, but okay, can we also Danielle and Robert. Robert is like the coolest little fellow there is. But they, but they haven't had sex. And I feel like Danielle's getting like really like, she's like, hello, I'm here.
Starting point is 00:15:18 Next to you. I don't know. I feel like whatever Danielle has. going on is clearly, like, more stable and mature than any of these other couples. So it seems like it worked. They're still together. So I know. They're really cute. And of course, Robert was like, I, like, I made an effort. I'm hanging out with everyone. Like, he's giving himself, like, more brownie points. Well, yeah. And I think it was like, it just showed when Danielle kind of made that comparison to between Robert and Des. And Hannah's immediate response was just like,
Starting point is 00:15:50 okay fine Robert's great and Des is an asshole it's like they just weren't in the place to have that conversation maybe and I think yeah like you know I think some time apart we'll do them well I'm interested to see kind of what goes down at the reunion because I feel like it's going to be pretty
Starting point is 00:16:08 interesting oh I'm like actually pumped for this because I Do we think Des is going to show up at the reunion? I think so to be honest but because they Yes, I definitely, I don't know, because he was there for like three days. So it's not like he-
Starting point is 00:16:26 He wasn't like on the show, but I feel like in terms of like what's happening in real life. With the group dynamics, like they're engaged. It's not, I don't know. Like is Stravi there? No, Stravi's no. He's not. You said that he wasn't there. But also Luke, his little side digs to Des and his confessionals.
Starting point is 00:16:44 I was like, he's like, I'm sorry. Is that me? And I was like, I don't know. Luke has this, I don't know, Luke is smooth. I have said that, you guys from day one. Like, there is something, I don't know. He's... That's the thing to me, like, I think Luke is warranted in his feelings about, like,
Starting point is 00:17:01 in real time, like, what he's saying to Hannah. I think all of that makes sense. I do think that when you're, like, a little bit of a shade assassin in the confessional, sometimes that is a little bit like, okay, you seem like a little bit, like, petty right now. Yeah. Okay. So we have season finale next week. sure to be a great time.

Starting point is 00:18:08 No ID, prescription, or age requirement. It's the number one OBGYN recommended brand of emergency contraception, and it won't impact your future fertility. That's Freedom the Bee. Use us directed. Let's talk about below deck sailing. I wrote Below Deck Mad in my notes, but that is not what's happening right now. Yeah, this, this trio, which we thought was going to end a long time ago, is still going on. And it is, it's messy just because I feel like Sydney just doesn't know how to take a hint. Like she doesn't. That's it. That's the bottom line.
Starting point is 00:18:48 To be honest, though, I don't even think it's that at this point because it is more, it's more than a hint. Like, Gary has been fully, I would say, at least verbally, he's been fully transparent. I think the issue is that Gary is giving her some mixed signals because, you know, if somebody comes in your bed at night and tries to get in bed with you, there is a way to say no to that. And like, I mean, in this situation, Gary could have said, no, like, get the fuck out of my cabin. and we're not doing this right now. And I think Gary is the kind of person who, especially when it's late at night,
Starting point is 00:19:27 and he's feeling lonely and there's maybe some alcohol in the picture, like he just wants like a warm body next to him. And I think that because Sidney obviously likes him more than she was kind of letting on at first, he's said the right things to her during the day to like tell her that he's not into it. But then it's like the second you show her attention at night, you've like taken three steps back.
Starting point is 00:19:51 So I think they're both contributing to it. And then I kind of feel for Allie. I'm like, girl, get out of there. Like, you do not want any part of this. Yeah, Ali knows like, she's like, I'm actually backing up. But when you're drunk and hanging out at like midnight 1 a.m. on multiple occasions, what in what world do you think like you belong there? Like they're flirting and they're trying to like hang out.
Starting point is 00:20:16 And like you're just like, that's where I mean. where she's not getting the hint, like go to bed, like go to bed. And I did appreciate the fact that Allie and Sydney actually had like a little chat. And, and Sydney was honest with her. She was like, I like, I like him. And so that is when Allie was like, you know what? I'm not having no part of this. But like as friends, which I don't even know if they are, she like did the right thing.
Starting point is 00:20:39 But he's like, all right, then I'm going to let you and Gary figure this out, even though I know Gary doesn't want to hook up with you either. Right. It was it was one of those moments where it's like, okay, I'm going to, I'm going to do like girl code or whatever here, even though I think that you're kind of psycho. But we also have, I can't, I can't figure out what's going on with the three of them. But I can figure out what's going on with Natasha. And that is that she can still not take direction or listen to instructions or take any kind of criticism. Yeah. She's that chef where like she, it's her ego.
Starting point is 00:21:11 But like, babe, just because someone tells you something doesn't mean that like you're bad at your job. And Daisy for like the maybe eighth time, just let it go so it wouldn't be her fall. And I'm like, Daisy. As Steve, Stu, you know that just set, put your foot down. But you know what? She's like, I'm not taking any more of Natasha shit. Like, I'm going to let them now bring it to the table, bring it back, knowing that it's wrong. But the, I think this happened like two episodes ago, the cotton candy machine.
Starting point is 00:21:40 We just like, like, she couldn't figure it out. So she just like what was like, I'm not doing this anymore. And that's not even something you were cooking. You just had to like let it go a little bit and figure it out. And then didn't even tell anyone before it was like dinner time. It's just like awkward because it's either like your way or the highway is what I'm gathering. Well, on this week's episode, so the one, the biggest kind of like single thing that went wrong was with the eggs when they wanted eggs over easy. And she gave them just like scrambled eggs.
Starting point is 00:22:14 And she was like, that's what over easy is. And it's like, no, it's not. That I think is a, not a language barrier, but a like cultural thing. Like she doesn't. Yeah. I mean, because this is now like the third type of egg where she thinks it's one thing and it's, it's something else. So I think it's just a little bit of, you know.
Starting point is 00:22:32 But then the other thing that I found really frustrating was that first dinner, the guests were talking about how the portion sizes were too big. And then when Daisy said something to Natasha, the next day about, and like, let's just, like, maybe make the portion size is a little smaller. Natasha was like, what the fuck does she say? Like, my portion sizes are great. Like, I know the guests aren't saying anything about that. And it's like, they actually are.
Starting point is 00:22:58 Like. Yes. And can we talk about how she also said, I've worked for 20 people, like, of the portion. She said, I've worked at a restaurant 20 people. Um, okay. But why were you freaking out when there was nine people to cook for then? I think, yeah. It's tough because.
Starting point is 00:23:14 when you're on a charter yacht like this, your job, it's a fundamentally different job than being a chef in a restaurant kitchen. Because obviously in a restaurant, there's a menu, you make the food. There might be certain, you know, adjustments for specific customers. But in general, they're coming to the restaurant for your menu. When you're on a charter, the only objective is to make the guests happy. Like, that's the reason you're there. So if they're saying something about the portion,
Starting point is 00:23:44 or the eggs or whatever. It's like, just follow the instructions. They're not difficult instructions. They're just not the way that she would do it on her own. And it's like so frustrating now that we're in the fourth charter of the season. And like every single time, it's just this stuff that she could so easily just do the way people want her to. And it's like, you're sabotaging your own crew.
Starting point is 00:24:07 Like the tip last charter was not good. And to be honest, eggs is the easiest thing you could, literally the easiest thing you can do. So like you could have nailed breakfast, like made it beyond. And I feel like it's always typical chief stew and chef getting into it because they want to be on the best or whatever. But yeah, I completely agree. It's you just have to, all you have to do for three days is make these guests happy. And that all starts with the stomach. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:24:39 I don't know. I want to like Natasha. And I liked early in this episode that she and Daisy kind of had a little bit of a came to an agreement. You know, like we're going to smooth it out. We're going to have a good charter. And it's just like the very next day. It's like, nope, never mind. We're back to the old ways.
Starting point is 00:24:59 And you know, it's funny. This charter is one that we saw last season. And it's like completely different. Remember it was like those frat guys and they were crazy and like just drinking all day every day. And this time it's like completely different. It's like chill. And I guess the sailing yacht really. Actually, it was a sailing yacht last time too.
Starting point is 00:25:22 I was going to say it makes a different. I'm the worst at remembering charter guests on below deck. Like people are like, who's your favorite iconic charter guests? I'm like, I don't know. No, that's a loaded question. I don't know these people's names. Like what? All I remember is Dolores getting drunk and jumping in the water.
Starting point is 00:25:39 Well, speaking of jumping in the water. We didn't talk about the skinny dipping, which the three of them. And when they panned to Captain Glenn, like, hearing something, but then just like going back to sleep, I was like, wow, that is respect. I really appreciate because if this was below deck or below deck med, you know that Lee or Sandy would have walked out there onto the deck and been like screaming at them in the middle of the night. Yeah. And I like a dramatic captain vibe sometimes. But in this moment, I was like, you know, yeah, just go. back to bed. It's okay. So chill. Like, he's so chill. And I have a question. I love the water.
Starting point is 00:26:19 I'm obviously a beach girl. Like, it's my favorite thing in the world. But when I have a very ridiculous fear of sharks and whales and when they do their water sports, they're like in the middle of the ocean and they're in nice, gorgeous Mediterranean water and like they were going skinny dipping. Is no one scared of like that happening? Okay. I can't. I can't speak for like 100% of the time, but when they were skinny dipping, the boat was literally on the dock. Okay. Like when Gary climbed out of the water, he was like on the shore. I know he was on the rocks.
Starting point is 00:26:54 I saw. But still, like when they're doing the water sports, like they're in the middle of like the water. That is like so scary to me. I think for the most part they're not that far out to see. Like I don't know. I know what you mean. I know what you mean. My heart is like racing right now.
Starting point is 00:27:10 my heart is like racing right now thinking about it because I can't when we book a charter we'll do we'll go easy on the water sports yeah and you know what I just think that captain Glenn would like totally reassure me he'd be like don't worry there's none but like you don't know that yeah he'd be like oh don't don't worry there's no sharks out here in the water are there sharks in the Mediterranean I don't know there are sharks anywhere they're just everywhere leave us a five star review and write about whether there are sharks in the Mediterranean um okay let's finish out the week with our our skinny pop moments. Of course, every episode we do are Grab the Skinny Pop moment of the day. You know, endless entertainment calls for endless popcorn. And luckily, every kernel of Skinny Pop is so light, crunchy and delicious that we can eat it by the handful or
Starting point is 00:27:55 even the bagful. My Grab the Skinny Pop moment was definitely when Des asked Kyle if he was going to be invited to the wedding. Oh my God. It was just like the single most uncomfortable way to exit the trip.
Starting point is 00:28:10 it just, you know, I do think this season of Summerhouse has done such a good job with kind of that, like, loaded tension between Hannah and Kyle and Luke and all of them. And that was one of those moments where it's just like, it didn't end up exploding into something right away. But it was like, oh, that's the exact wrong thing to say. Yeah, totally. Um, my grab the skinny pot moment. I have two and they're both regarding Sierra, which I love. The first one is that, yeah, that she won the derby because that is very exciting. And her little, her little dig, like, I'm the only single one in the house and look who still got paid.
Starting point is 00:28:51 Like, I loved that. Her outfit was amazing. And then my other moment for her is that she is just really ready. She's a nurse and she's just ready to go back to the hospital and, like, do what she enjoys and loves and hearing her, like, talk about it. But also the fact that she's like, I want to get. get back because like I don't want to lose my skills and she started naming everything that we as viewers have literally no idea what she was talking about. She was like, oh, no clue. Then I was like, you know what? You deserve the praise that you're getting because I can't do what you're doing. So that
Starting point is 00:29:26 was my moments that I can just, like I say, every week, shove the skinny pop right in as as I'm watching. It's the best. But so yeah, those are. today's Skinny Pop moments.
