Starting point is 00:00:02 Hey everyone, welcome back to the Mentioned at All podcast and another Friday. We have made it to the end of another busy week. There's a fall, chill in the air. There's new shows coming out. There's lots to talk about. There's divorces. There's drama. There's traitors. There's girls trip. There's Salt Lake. There's New York. Oh, we're going to talk that dump of an island. What a week it's been. I feel like I've been having a good week. You know, earlier this week on the show, we had Roney, newbie, Haley Glassman, who's making a strong impression thus far on the show. I had a great time talking to her. I think it was a fun chat. And it's always interesting to talk to someone who is brand new to like the Housewives game, but has a prior experience with being in the public eye,
Starting point is 00:00:59 whether it's, you know, being John Gosselin's girlfriend, alleged mistress, whether it's being an actress, whether it's, you know, doing something else. Like, it's fun to kind of get someone's POV as they're coming into this world for the first time. So I had a great time talking to her. And we are going to keep the Rony vibes going next Tuesday with one Carol Radswell on the show. Also had a lovely time talking to Carol. And you know what really resonated with me on the episode this week. And I remembered when I got to talk to her, you know, a really.
Starting point is 00:01:33 recently when she was talking about how the women on this show are wearing like gowns to have dinner in a pool, which we'll talk about. And she shows up to dinner in her little Daisy Dukes and comfy sweater. And I was thinking when, and you'll see this when the episode comes out, if you watch on YouTube.com slash app Bravo by Betches or a video on Spotify. Carol came in wearing like a pair of jeans and a t-shirt and a, I think a leather jacket. She just looked like she was a New York woman going out and about for the day. She had the tube socks, too. Tubbs.
Starting point is 00:02:08 Yes, she looked great. And, you know, a lot of people have come through the studio and everybody looks great in their own way. But we see some, we see some looks. We see a lot of, a lot, it's so interesting because it's always during the day. And it's like, what do you, what somebody chooses to wear for like a daytime New York press moment is just always, it's like a little anthropological thing.
Starting point is 00:02:36 And sometimes we're getting a lot of skin. Sometimes we're getting very little skin. Either way, I always am so intrigued to see what these Bravo Labs are wearing. And Carol, she's a woman of the people. She's a real salt of the earth. We will talk about Roney quite a bit more in just a little bit. But first, I want to get to some news that we have had this week. First of all, exciting, Southern Charm coming back in November.
Starting point is 00:02:59 Southern Charm, I feel like, is one of those shows. This is season 12. And it's one of those shows where I enjoy it while it's on. We always talk about it. You know, we have sometimes we have some of our, you know, charmers coming through that we get to talk to. But when it's off the air, I feel like I really don't think about it very much. And I don't mean that in a way of, oh, this show doesn't have a lasting impact. It's not. not that relevant, whatever. I kind of love when a show gives me exactly what I want or, you know, most of what I want for like, you know, 14 to 18 weeks. I'm having fun watching it. I have thoughts on the drama. And then when it ends, I can just kind of put it away in the cupboard and it's not making a lot of noise. It's not rattling around in there. You know, it's minding its own business. It's behaving. And when it's time to play with it again, I'll take it out of the cupboard and I will have fun for my 14 to 18 weeks. And then we do it all over again.
Starting point is 00:04:06 And Southern Trump, you know, they had some kind of up and down seasons. And I feel like the last few years, it has kind of clicked into place again. I think, you know, Molly and Sally and Vanita and Madison, you know, I like kind of what they've been able to bring to the group. Obviously, the guys have remained pretty consistent. You know, we have Wittner, and he's just a sexy piece of man. And I am once again back on the wagon for Southern Charms season 12 because this season trailer starts with some, you know, there's this like flash moment.
Starting point is 00:04:47 They're in Hawaii and there's a love child. Something is a foot. There's some evidence. There's a photo that we're looking at. I have no idea where this is going to go if it's going to be a little bit of like a clickbait and then it's like, oh, ha, ha, ha, nobody had a kid. I don't know. There's, you know, Molly is chasing after Sally while she's barricaded in a room and crawling under the bed and Madison is standing guard at the door.
Starting point is 00:05:15 It feels like we are in for something on this season of Southern Charm. And that's enough for me. I will, I will be there. My season tickets have been renewed. And Southern Charm is one of those shows where if you haven't watched it, and I'm sure there's, you know, two or three of you watching this, that are like Southern Charm, I don't know. And here's the thing.
Starting point is 00:05:39 I don't know either. I always, when someone asks me, you know, which Bravo shows they should be watching, what they should prioritize if something is worth their time, you know, if you're asking me about Atlanta or Salt Lake City or Potomac. I am going to tell 100% of people absolutely start now, you'll thank me later. Southern Charm, I don't know. I think if you are, you know, let's see, if you're a new mom and you're on maternity leave and you're just like, I need something to be brainless while I'm sitting here, you know,
Starting point is 00:06:20 rocking the crib with my foot or whatever moms do, maybe you know, maybe you. maybe that's the time, you know, if you find yourself, you know, unemployed and just kind of like needing something to kill the time and you've seen all the better, all the other shows, you know, maybe, I don't think Southern Charm at this point is something that you need to, like, clear your schedule and stop the presses and get caught up on. But hey, I'm here. I put in the time and now I just kind of enjoy it in like a little bit of a passive way. And I think that's enough. let's talk about some other news that we got this week, which is less, less fun, but no, no less intriguing. And that is that Whitney Rose has filed for divorce. Whitney and Justin are
Starting point is 00:07:09 calling it, calling it a marriage. I was kind of surprised to learn they've only been together, only been married for like, what is it, like eight years or something? It was not as long as I, not as long as I expected. But yeah, it's sad. I do feel sad about this. Because I think, you know, Whitney and Justin have been together the whole time we've known them. And, you know, I haven't always loved every moment of Whitney, but I do feel like they've always kind of matched each other's freak. And I think it's important that, you know, sometimes I'm not always going to be on the same wavelength as you, but if you can find somebody who works for whatever you're bringing to the table. And it's just a bummer.
Starting point is 00:07:56 And I was not necessarily expecting, you know, we knew when this season of Salt Lake premiered, that obviously, you know, Bronwyn and Todd have been going through their stuff. But we had basically heard just before the start of the season that Angie and Sean and Whitney and Justin were, you know, separating, going through tough times in their season. marriages, whatever. But I was not really anticipating that both of those marriages would be so openly on the rocks early in the season of Salt Lake. And on this week's episode of Salt Lake, the scene that Heather has with Angie was one of the most raw and vulnerable moments we've gotten from, I think from Heather, it felt very just being,
Starting point is 00:08:50 that open person for Angie to come to. And it was nice to see a scene of the two of them that didn't feel like there was any kind of like performance going on. But you can tell that Angie is really just gutted at the idea that her marriage is not going to work out. And Angie and Sean, they've been together for 30 years. They've been married for like something like 26 years. I mean, that's a lot of Wendy and Justin, 17 years. 17, okay. I think I was, I was thinking of Bronwyn and Todd maybe. I don't know.
Starting point is 00:09:25 That's a lot of life. That's a lot of, that's a lot of time. And, you know, I think it's, it makes me sad to hear Angie talk about how when she was younger, because she's been with Sean since she was like 21, when she was younger, that she was content to just kind of go along with what worked for him and that, you know, that was never really an issue and she just kind of was like down to ride with him. And that as she's gotten older and as she's, you know, met the women in this group and let's be, you know, forthwally about it as she's gotten her own opportunities and, you know, had a public platform and had a little taste of fame and what it feels like for people to be like
Starting point is 00:10:14 adoring her and winning the grinder housewife of the year award that suddenly Angie K needs what Angie K wants. And I thought that Heather was like really a good, a good person to have this conversation with her because Heather is able to say like, yeah, I was, I was not living my fullest life. I was being the obedient Mormon wife and mother until I was. until that fell apart. And in the last 10 years, Heather has been able to become her fullest self. She's been able to have a successful business. She's been able to release books. She's been able to be on this platform where she's getting all these opportunities. And now she's dating and dating in a way where she's finding what she wants versus what it's like felt that the, you know, church should
Starting point is 00:11:09 have for her or something like that. And I think that with Angie, it's like, Angie and Heather aren't in the exact same situation, but I do think that if Angie is at this point now where she's like 50 years old and she's saying, hey, there's like stuff that I've never really explored that maybe I want to or there's there's stuff in my life that I feel like I'm going in one direction because I was all in on this, you know, marriage and this person. and maybe that's not actually what like I would choose for myself. And, you know, she's, she's clearly in a place where it's fresh enough and still in like a current way where she's not, she's not thinking about dating at all. She's not thinking about, you know,
Starting point is 00:11:57 it's none of that like, I need to like get my groove back and find me a man. It's really like this painful like self-discovery journey. And I hope that she is, getting to a place where it can feel a little bit less, I don't know, it reminded me of the way that Kyle was early in the season of Ultimate Girls Trip where she was, you know, upset about feeling like she had let people down and like the shame. And of course, Vicky was, you know, her lovely shoulder to cry on in that moment. Thankfully, Angie has a little bit more of a, a little bit more of an empathetic listening ear in Heather. But just after watching, I want Angie to feel like she can make the right decision. and it'll be okay, because it will. It will. Like, it's, that's gonna be okay. You guys can divide split custody of lunatic fringe and whatever works best for Electra. They'll figure it out. Okay, I jumped the gun a little bit into Salt Lake. So let's, let's reel back for a little bit.
Starting point is 00:13:00 Whitney Rose, you'll be fine. 17 years. I'm sorry, I didn't mean to diminish your marriage. Because, of course, because Bobby and the other one are like teenagers now. Of course. Bobby's the girl. Thank you. But I want to talk about Traders' New Blood just for like 90 seconds, maybe. Okay, so this show premiered like a month ago, and they did two episodes the first week, two episodes the second week, and then zero episodes the third week because of major league baseball playoffs. I don't, I mean, see, this is the issue. It's going to be on big NBC. It's so exciting.
Starting point is 00:13:47 It's going to be, you know, they're bringing it to broadcast with the civilians, whatever. And then what do you get? You have to go two weeks without an episode because of Major League Baseball playoffs. That's not an issue on Peacock. On Peacock, two things can be happening at once. Alan Cumming can be wearing a bedazzled tank top while 20 civilians wearing, you know, flannel are, you know, doing their best at the roundtable
Starting point is 00:14:14 while the Yankees are losing to whoever the Yankees are playing now. And it's no big deal. Both things can coexist harmoniously, whereas now on NBC we're forced to wait. I don't love it. Look, life is hard. But so this week, we're back. We have one episode, and again, I think I mentioned this at the beginning of the season, but because this is on NBC, the episodes are a little shorter than they would be on Peacock because they have to fit into the one hour package with commercials. So it's like 42 minutes.
Starting point is 00:14:48 And I feel a little bit unsure about how they're fitting the Traders box package into the 42-minute episode because here's the thing. The first two weeks that this was coming out, we were getting two episodes at a time. So you could really do a full cycle of, okay, we're going to start the episode with breakfast and we're going to find out who got murdered. And then we're going to have the mission. And then you're going to come back to the castle and there's going to be some social time. And then we're going to have the roundtable and somebody's going to get banished. And then the traders will get their kind of next assignment.
Starting point is 00:15:29 And it'll end on the classic, you know, cliffhanger of the turret. or whatever. That's all well and good. We're used to on Peacock, the episodes kind of just start and end whenever. But this week is our first time having the one singular 42-minute episode. And here's what happens in the episode. We start out halfway through the roundtable that we left off at two weeks ago. It feels like that happened in April. I don't know anybody's name. I forgot who's getting along. I forgot what anyone did that was suspicious. But that's, neither here nor there. So we spend the first, like, quarter, third of the episode finishing up this roundtable, uh, the lovely Miss Sherry gets murdered. She's a faithful. We, we've been new.
Starting point is 00:16:17 Um, I love her gray hair. I love the, the like, silvery natural hair. She, she was a diva. I'm sad she's gone. But so, okay. So the round table's done. You know, they're going to like chit-chat a little bit, go to bed, then murder's going to happen, right? We're going to make it to the next day. Wrong. They're milling around the house, or on the castle, rather, and the traders get an assignment that they need to murder somebody in plain sight by, like, throwing an apple and having them catch it. I don't, I think we could have a few more murders that are just a straightforward, go to the turret, write the name down, they don't show up to breakfast. I don't think every murder needs to have, like, we've already, we've done the wake, we've done the recruitment, we've done,
Starting point is 00:17:04 it's a lot, it's a lot, the, the, the scrap of paper in the crime and punishment book. But so they get their assignment and they're like, oh, the apple, the apple, the apple, how many I did the apple? Okay. First, oh, he didn't, he, she didn't catch the apple, so now I'm just going to eat the apple. And then Tamika's trying to do the apple. And she can't get it done. So then Joe takes the apple back and now he's, he's, you know, running a roaming around the castle with the apple and Victor is noticing him and he's like, oh, don't, don't take the fruit. Don't take the fruit.
Starting point is 00:17:36 And then, so that's like one chunk of the episode. The clock is chiming. And they're like, oh, we all have to get ready for the wake. So they get ready for the wake. They go outside. There's been, what, nine people or something that have been shortlisted for murder. So they all have to get in their coffins. And then Alan is, and this is a whole to-do as everything on Traders is, which
Starting point is 00:17:59 is why we like it. But so then everybody's in their coffins, except for everybody who's not. And I don't remember why or how people became eligible for murder because that happened two weeks ago because of baseball. Again, not their fault. And then one by one, Alan is saying who isn't murdered, so then those people can just like open the coffin and get back out. And so it's like, oh, Victor, you're not murdered. Tamika, you're not murdered. Somebody else. you're not murdered. Again, I remember like three total names. And then we end the episode. So this is minute 40, minute 41. We're getting to the end. We end the episode on a fucking cliffhanger of who at the wake is going to get their grave, you know, pounded or whatever. I'm going to get my grave pounded.
Starting point is 00:18:49 That sounds fun. I just, here's the thing. This entire episode, the only piece of traitors that we get this week happens in the course of one evening, there's no murder reveal, there's no breakfast, there's no mission, there's no like strategizing before a roundtable. And, you know, the only roundtable that we get is the conclusion of the roundtable from two weeks ago. Again, because of baseball, fucking baseball. I just feel like, Traders is something where whenever it's on my screen, I'm always having a good time. And I, think that is true of this season that people are doing the most. I really think the civilians are leaning in and trying to really go for it. And honestly, maybe being a little bit more
Starting point is 00:19:38 strategically savvy than the celebrities sometimes are, like, Victor clocking the behavior with the Apple or, you know, the other trader girl whose name I don't remember, like, she kind of got, people are onto her. They haven't managed to actually banish one of them yet, which is a different issue. I just feel like I enjoyed this episode while I was watching it, but then it was over and I was like, huh, I don't feel super satisfied by this. And so I am not sure the exact right answer, but I do feel like they maybe need a little bit, if they're doing a next season of this and it's going to be this NBC formatting, they maybe need to think a little bit. They maybe need to think a little more about how to adapt the format to the format versus just cutting the episodes
Starting point is 00:20:34 off wherever they start and stop. Because I do think if you're a TV, I'm just going to compare it to Survivor. I've been watching this season of Survivor so far. I think it's too soon to say whether it's a great season or not. I think it has potential. Again, neither here nor there. But Survivor for a long time was a show that was on for one hour a week. Thursday nights on CBS, I grew up watching it with my family. Now it's on Wednesdays. And importantly, the episodes are 90 minutes. And so you get, basically, without commercials, a full 60 minutes, which is a lot more real estate for your challenges, for your twists, for your strategizing back at tribal, for somebody to find an idol, for somebody to get an argument for somebody on last week's episode to chop the tip of his thumb off with a machete
Starting point is 00:21:26 and then demand that he's going to stay in the game, you would have to haul me out immediately. Get the helicopter. But crucially, the most important thing that happens, I would have to look back, but I'm pretty sure every single episode of Survivor for like 50 now one seasons, it ends with tribal council and somebody gets sent home. And I think that that is, that type of repetition on a show like this, on a competition show is important. And I, I just feel like Traders is right now a little bit just wandering around in the dark in terms of the format. And I remember I didn't watch this season of Project Runway. It was on Hulu, I think, and they brought Heidi Klum back and great.
Starting point is 00:22:25 I heard that it was a good season, but people were complaining about this happening again, where there would be cliffhangers, there would be weird cutoffs, there were episodes with no elimination. I do think that these shows, like, you know, we're in streaming, we're whatever, the structure is a feature, not a bug. People like the structure. I like my episode every week. and it ends with the clip hanger at the place and I know what I'm getting. And I feel like this week we didn't get quite enough. Needless to say, I will be watching the rest of the season. I'm intrigued to see how this, you know, unfolds.
Starting point is 00:23:01 But I... That's my piece. Okay, now let's get to some stuff that was really satisfying this week. First of all, Ultimate Girls Trip. I'm sad it's over. I do, I feel like they could have squeezed like one more episode out of this. because the first half of the season I felt was a little bit slow almost. It felt like we were in O.C. for a while.
Starting point is 00:23:32 It felt like we were in Beverly Hills for a little while. And then the like Miami, New York, Berkshires of it all felt a little bit rushed. Because at the end of the day, like, we're seeing so many beloved and be hated faces on this show. and it, I know it's part of the fun that it's like a parade of housewives, but I felt like we could have had like just a little bit more time with everyone that was there. But this episode starts with the drive to the Berkshires and it's like a seven hour drive. The idea of having to sit in that like limo style seating where you're like facing somebody else and you can't really, it's like in theory more comfortable than a normal car. but then also you're like sitting sideways on a couch with somebody right next to you. I'm like, for seven out, that's a long time.
Starting point is 00:24:31 You know, Lisa Barlow gets her, you know, stop at a Wendy's that I'm sure was contractually obligated. I think it's cute. People were complaining about that. I'm like, Wendy's has been at BravoCon every year. Like, of course this is going to happen. Like, let her bring the Wendy's bag out to the limo. I am like, is that the only food they can?
Starting point is 00:24:50 got all day? I don't know, just a long day. But Luann actually, to her credit on this car ride, they finally are able to get through to her after, you know, Porsche and Giselle in particular have really laid into her about how obnoxious she is and how they've, you know, created a bedazzled monster. Luan is able to kind of be the bigger person and apologize. And she, you know, we know that she doesn't realize she's doing this stuff. I think that's agreed upon. And so, you know, props to Luann for understanding that she can be a lot sometimes. And, you know, she really doesn't, she doesn't act up at the Berkshires. I mean, I think she knows that she's at Dorinda's home.
Starting point is 00:25:35 And Luan doesn't need to act crazy at the Berkshires because she's already done that six times before. And she just gets to enjoy riffing off of all the iconic moments that happened here. I love when, like, Carol is there and Durinda and Luan, and they can just be like, something iconic happened in this room. I don't remember everything iconic that happened at this table. Oh, do you want to see the fish room? Something iconic happened there. And you know what?
Starting point is 00:26:04 To their credit, they are not exaggerating in the slightest. Something iconic did happen there. Those episodes, I mean, Roney went there season after season and gave us some of the most freakish hours of television. Some fucked up shit happened there. And I kind of love that we get to give Bluestone Manor its flowers. I had forgotten that Carol came up with the name for Bluestone Manor. That was a good poll.
Starting point is 00:26:35 I'm glad she was there. They're staying at this like Red Lion Inn and Luann is talking about how she wants to have an encounter with the ghosts. I'm like, if anyone was going to get fucked by a ghost, it should be Luann de Liceps. You know, like Kesha has talked about having sex with the ghost, Luan would love that. It would be a great little anecdote for her cabaret act. Meanwhile, some random gay guy fan with a glass of wine in his hand is bringing Vicky's suitcase up to her room. And she's like, oh, do you work here?
Starting point is 00:27:09 And he's like, no, no. You thought I worked here? Oh, no. Luann was just like, maybe somebody should help VIII. with her bags and here I was and now here's your room. I'm sorry. Where's the security? These women are precious cargo. Vicky, as as obnoxious as she can be, as much of a Debbie Downer as she can be, don't let some random man come into her hotel room. She has to sleep there. That was so crazy. That was so crazy. I do love that like people had found out that they were coming to the Berkshires
Starting point is 00:27:44 and were just posted up in the lobby of the hotel. That, I think, is okay. Coming up to the room, oh, it's so weird. I feel like he's still probably standing there, like waiting to see if a housewife is going to pop up. But at this party, it's really a who's who. We have Salt Lake represented with Heather Gay, Angie, and Mary coming through. Mary just looks beautiful.
Starting point is 00:28:04 I miss her. I know we get, like, a little FaceTime of her with Angie this week on Salt Lake. I'm like, I miss my Mary. From Beverly Hills, we have Sutton. Bose, Camille, Ashley Darby is there, Chanel Ayan. I love how Dubai is essentially, like, completely ignored at this point in, like, the housewives world. But Chanel Aon just gets to come to whatever she feels like. I would love to know what her, like, frequent flyer mile status is. Because I presumably she still lives in Dubai, at least some of the time. And I feel like she will be,
Starting point is 00:28:42 if you invite her to like a drag brunch in Vegas, I feel like she will be there at the drop of a hat. She'll be like, oh my God, event happening where, when, honey, I'm there. I mean, good for her. She was at BravoCon last year. I mean, she's a lot of fun. She does a great job. But she's flying far. Nobody from Dallas, though.
Starting point is 00:29:05 It's funny because Ayan gets to be like the person that came out of Dubai and unscathed. Real housewives of Dallas? is like he who shall not be named. Real Housewives of Dallas is like the Lord Voldemort of the Housewives franchise. And they got like five seasons. You're telling me we couldn't have invited like Brandy and Stephanie to this party in the Berkshires. Now, I'm not saying a lot of people would have known who they were if they were there. But like, come on.
Starting point is 00:29:36 Is Leanne Locken out of problematic jail yet? Could we get DeAndra and her mom there? I don't know. I think it would have been fun. Get Tiffany Moon on a plane. You know she would pay her own way. I think they should have. Jessel, Alex McCord, Carol, Aaron, Heather Dubrow, Lisa Hawstein, Marisol, Melissa, Dolores, and of course, of course, the full cast of Rhode Island. And it is, I knew that they, I knew that they were going to be there even before the show premiered. Like, I knew that they had been at this finale, but watching it kind of unfold where in this room of, you know, 20, 30 housewives, does everyone know everyone else that's there? Of course not. I mean, these women are famously bad at remembering names.
Starting point is 00:30:31 These women are famously living in their own, you. you know, La La Land world, like Alex McCord is not keeping up with who is on Real House Eyes of Miami. Those kind of things, but there is a certain level of understanding that it's like, oh yeah, that's that's that one from from the show. You know, I, I know, Lisa, of course, yes, Lisa. Right, right, right. Lisa, she's the one with the, oh, uh-huh. these Rhode Island women are not just like fresh faces. They are like beamed in from a different planet. Because to everyone in this room, it's like, oh yeah, there's an understanding like,
Starting point is 00:31:19 this is so-and-so from so-and-so franchise. And it's like, you're, Teresa learning Joe Ellen's name. She goes, huh? Do Ellen? Oh, Joe. Oh, Joe. Joellen. Teresa doesn't remember that woman's name.
Starting point is 00:31:39 She didn't know it while she was. Do Ellen really, really gave me a good little chuckle. When they're like, oh, they all look like Dolores. It's like not only do they all kind of look like Dolores, which, you know, now in my mind, I'm like, no, they're all so different. How on earth could you think that Rosie looks like Kelsey? Six months ago, I was like, I can't, I can't look at these people. It makes my head hurt. But it's not even that they all look like Dolores.
Starting point is 00:32:07 It's just that I'm like, what's going on? Who are these people? Because they're all, you know, the theme is like gilded glamour, gilded age, whatever. I would say the housewives are loosely, you know, loosely sticking to the theme. We get some really great dresses. Lisa Barlow's like, why can I not just wear a cocktail dress? Enough with the themes. And you know what she does?
Starting point is 00:32:31 I think she wears like a black tight dress. She looks great. But the Rhode Island women have received the theme. And they have prepared like drag queens who get the theme list for drag race. It's like, oh, I only get five suitcases to pack my Gilded Age look. Okay, I guess I'll have to pair it back. You know, there's fur, there's sequins, there's pearls, there's tiaras. Because this is their first big, this is their first big thing.
Starting point is 00:32:57 they hadn't even been introduced to the world yet. And they're not on their best behavior. They're fighting like cats and dogs because they've filmed their first season. There's clearly a lot of stuff in the air. They've not filmed a reunion. They've not done press. They've not gotten to do anything in public. And watching them kind of be unleashed on this party is really something.
Starting point is 00:33:25 because Rula, you know, she gets asked if, it's understood that she was going through a tough time and she's asked if she felt supported by the women on her show. And she says, no, of course. And Liz is like, Rula, you didn't allow us to support you. And they're giving her advice about being accountable at the reunion and such. And, you know, Rula says that Joellen put the photos out. and, you know, so she was the one that was causing the issue, and Jo Ellen's like, the mistress put the photos out.
Starting point is 00:34:02 And a couple things happened that just, oh my gosh. Luann is kind of, you know, zoning in and out. And she goes, sorry, what happened? Who died? And Joellen goes, no, no, her husband cheated on her. And then I'm, oh, sorry, that's worse. Even worse Oh my God
Starting point is 00:34:28 See just last week I was complaining about how Lujan was insufferable And The diva reeled me back in Oh my God Even worse God she's funny Oh my God
Starting point is 00:34:42 But while Rola and Jo Ellen are going at it Durinda jumps in and says that they're a guest in her home and they're not going to turn this into episode six of Real Housewives of Rhode Island. I'm like, thank you. I think they got about 12 episodes in their first season. But I love Lisa being like, yeah, you guys really need to clock back in and watch the Bluestone Manor season of Ultimate Girls Trip. I love, this is Lisa back in her kind of like respectful fan mode that she's been in for a lot of this season where she's like, I know that iconic things have happened here.
Starting point is 00:35:19 this is, you know, this is the table where, you know, Brandy was like, what if your, how about if your, Durinda was like, what if your son died? I think that happened at a restaurant. But, you know, they're on hollowed ground. Mind your, mind your peas and cues. Oh, we also, just the random interactions on this season of girls trip have been so fun. Jessel asking Melissa Garga, who did her nose, which I don't, I don't think that Jessel knows all the lore that goes back to Melissa's nose job.
Starting point is 00:35:53 But Melissa being like, yeah, it was a million years ago. But, you know, Andy, Andy then comes in and surprises them all. And this was really nice. And I didn't really think about, obviously we knew from the preview and stuff that he was going to be there. But I didn't really think about how unusual it is for Andy to enter into the like filming sphere of these shows because we're so used to seeing him on the reunions. We're so used to seeing him and watch what happens and, you know, interacting with the women
Starting point is 00:36:28 in public in different ways. But for him to show up to this party at Bluestone Manor, miced up with all the cameras, I was kind of gagged. Like you, you really feel in the moment how like, oh, Andy's here. Huh. That's weird. And some of these women have known Andy for years and are, you know, texting him all the time and have like a closeness with him. By contrast, then you have the Rhode Island housewives who are like, Andy, nice to meet you. I got him to be a housewife. In that moment, it feels real. It just was, it was fun. You know, Andy stirring it up a little bit with Teresa and Melissa. And he's like, yeah, I mean, like the to the drama, it was about Melissa joining the show. Andrew, please. Please.
Starting point is 00:37:23 We've been doing this for like 12 years. We can't go back. But Melissa, in that moment, she takes the opportunity. She says, you know, we'll never agree on what happened. But I am sorry that it was, that this is how it, you know, was for you. And look, I got an opportunity and I took it. and I hate that it put us in that place. And I really would love to think that this is the last time we're ever going to hear about it.
Starting point is 00:37:54 Now, do I believe that? I don't know. Life is long. And we are just, you know, just weeks, months into this, you know, tenuous relationship with the two of them. But look, we'll see. It was nice, like, we got a little moment of Aaron and Carol talking to each other, which I feel like is kind of, you know, foreshadowing a little bit, Carol, joining their group this season. And Aaron takes the opportunity to say that Jessel is the fakesest one on her test.
Starting point is 00:38:24 Then Kelsey and Rosie are getting back into it again. Rhode Island ladies, enough, enough. They should be mingling. They should be getting to know people. Rosie Woods, don't you want to talk to Camille Grammar? Don't you want to learn something? Like, Alicia, I feel like is kind of minding her own business, but like Rula. don't you want to make a friend?
Starting point is 00:38:45 You know the women on your cast don't like you? I just think like mix it up a little bit. You've already spent six months with these bitches that you don't like. Andy really wants Lisa and Heather to talk. It just doesn't go super well. I don't know. The whole, I'm getting a little tired of some of the nonsense with the Salt Lake cast. And that's not to say I'm not enjoying Salt Lake.
Starting point is 00:39:11 I think, you know, it still is a very watchable show and everything. But like the fact that, you know, Lisa thinks that Whitney is the worst person on the face of the earth. And the fact that, you know, Heather hates Lisa so much or but she loves her like a sister, but we just can't get along. And the fact that everybody, it just is so much. ah, so much like polarization. And I wish that the women on the Salt Lake cast could like, I wish we could have turned the temperature down a little bit from last season to this season. And, you know, it seemed like for a second with everything that was going on with Robert Jr.
Starting point is 00:39:59 That maybe that was going to be a little bit of a turning point. And it was short-lived. It was, you know, lasted maybe an hour while they were like directly in Mary's presence, which was nice. But it seems like that's kind of all we're going to get. And it's a lot already. And the quai stuff. But, you know, we get Fadre, Cynthia, Charray. They show up nice and late.
Starting point is 00:40:28 I love that. Sharray telling Andy that she has a couple guys she's dating. Perfection. Fadra asking to see Alex McCord's booty Not something I ever thought I'd see She's like, turn around, turn around I feel like Alex had a good time And you know, I
Starting point is 00:40:43 You know when you have a party And you know, you're invited You like all the people you're inviting whatever But there's always somebody where maybe they don't know As many people at the party Or you know that they've been kind of having a hard time lately And you're just like I hope that like
Starting point is 00:40:59 I hope Steph has fun tonight You know She needs this. this. Going into these last couple episodes, I was like, I hope Alex McCord has fun tonight. You know, she, she's been in Australia all those years. She's been doing her clinical hours to get her PhD. Mama needs to have some fun. I want to see her let loose, and I feel like she did. It was just, it was nice to see her, just having a good time. Fadra asking to see her booty, just, Chef's kiss.
Starting point is 00:41:34 A good moment. And Luann and Carol laughing it up at the table. Luanne's like throwing a grape in her mouth. Just, we were all so happy then. Just the best days. Lou says that she's ready to pass the torch to Aaron and Jessel. I'm like, respectfully, babe, that happened against your will three years ago. But hey, time heals everything.
Starting point is 00:42:01 And this season of Girlstrip was just a good. time. And there were, you know, it had its touchy moments. Even by the end, you know, Vicky, Vicky getting her flowers literally from, from Giselle and Luann and Portia, because she really didn't get that kind of appreciation when they were in O.C. at the beginning of the season, even by the end of the season, I'm like, yeah, you know what, that's nice. It's nice. And if this
Starting point is 00:42:29 is the last season of Girls' trip that we ever get, they did it right. They did a good job with this one. And I'm just like, I'm really grateful. Like hashtag grateful. Ew. Okay, let's talk about Roney. Oh boy. We are on this dump of an island.
Starting point is 00:42:55 Oh, my God. What a dump. I'm kidding. Kind of. No, I had a great time watching this episode. And I think we're what, like five-ish-ish, episodes into this season of New York. And I am feeling really good about this season so far. I feel like the new women in the group are really making, you know, making progress and
Starting point is 00:43:27 doing a great job. Carol coming back, I think, has been a great thing. You know, I could have some notes for Aaron and Jessel, and I have and I will. And I think overall, it feels like there is just a base level of quality to this season that was sorely needed and that was lacking, especially last season, but, you know, up and down for the first couple seasons of this reboot experiment. And so far, this is a show where I'm sitting down to watch it every week and I am feeling confident that I will enjoy it and I'm enjoying it while I'm watching it. And I'm important. And this is important. I'm continuing to think about and think about my enjoyment of it after I finish. And I'm excited to talk about it when I sit down to record. and I am seeing, you know, memes and discourse about it in a way that is indicative of a show that is doing what it's supposed to do.
Starting point is 00:44:39 And it just is so nice to have that from New York because, you know, it was on life support there for a minute and we weren't sure if the patient was going to make it. And she's waking up. She's coming out of her cage and she's doing just fine. and we're on mosquito island. And this episode I've been seeing cause a good amount of discourse on social media about who's being, you know, who sucks and who's doing too much and who is being shitty and whatever. And I just feel like this episode to me is exactly what housewives should be.
Starting point is 00:45:25 because we are on a private island. Who owns the island? A little bit up for debate, but it is a private island. Because even if eight families own an island, I can't go on vacation there. I mean, maybe I could call somebody and they could figure it out for me.
Starting point is 00:45:48 You can't book the hotel. There is no hotel. There's eight estates. And each family pays part of the HOA and they share the tennis courts. And look, who am I to judge? I live in a studio apartment. Oh, P-U.
Starting point is 00:46:08 No, I love my apartment. But Daisy and Aaron nitpicking and shit-talking and asking shady questions about the exact specifics of the island ownership arrangement. And why didn't we? Why didn't we fly private? And saying that Martha Stewart would think this place is a dump and them, you know, gasping and giggling at finding out that the beds in their room are pull out couches, which like, not, I mean, that's not my ideal sleeping accommodation. This is exactly what they should be doing. because here's the thing. People are dragging Aaron, dragging days and saying,
Starting point is 00:47:05 you, you do Martha Stewart's makeup for the events that Erica's attending. How dare you? Aaron, you're obnoxious and crying about your house being flooded. How dare you? You think that Ramona and Tinsley would be at this island and not be just as tone deaf, but probably, you know, in Ramona's case, in a way that feels like racially charged or, you know, class-based, whatever.
Starting point is 00:47:41 If you're asking who owns the island, I would like to know. I want to know who owns the island. She said it was her island. Who owns the island? And she tells us it's a, they own a share in the island. And if you look at Google Maps, I did the, the aerial satellite view. And you can see on Mosquito Island,
Starting point is 00:48:02 there are several different, you know, dwellings, built up establishments across the island. There's the Richard Branson thing. It's kind of over on the east side. And then you've got, it looks like maybe two different properties kind of in the center of the island, higher up, which is one of where Erica and Encore's property is. And you can see them, you know, driving up,
Starting point is 00:48:26 in the back of these golf carts looking like they need to hold on for deer life with their coconuts. And so they're really at more of an elevation. And then over on the south and west side of the island, you have a couple other sort of properties. So look, my question was answered. Now, do I think that that is the same as saying like my island? I don't fucking know.
Starting point is 00:48:49 That's not my business. Because look, the island. is the island. Now, I do kind of agree with Erin and Daisy's question of why they flew commercial, just because when you're flying into like a small airport, the commercial flight options are pretty limited. And so, you know, to get to the British version islands, I imagine if you're flying commercial, you're probably flying from New York to Miami, maybe, and then you're going to be on a pretty small plane, I think, from Miami to Virgin Gorda, or there's a couple other ones that are like in the same vicinity.
Starting point is 00:49:40 And then I think they're on a boat for the last little bit. If you're a billionaire and this, look, you know, Billy, eat the rich and, you know, Taylor Swift is ruining the planet with her private jet travel, whatever. If you're a billionaire and you're going with six girlfriends to Mosquito Island for the weekend, charter the jet. Fuel it up. I want to be drinking champagne on the plane. That's like, that's what the money's for. No, I feel like I'm veering into people are going to be like, let me see your apartment. Let me see your island. This is all stupid, right? It's all so stupid. And that's why I love. like it. Damn it. I also really enjoyed the conversation that Carol and Jessel had because,
Starting point is 00:50:30 you know, since the first episode that Carol was on and then the Seder, you know, they've been in this kind of back and forth where Carol has explained why this is painful for her, the Kennedy stuff. And Jessel, you know, Jessel's just like not the biggest understander. That's kind of not her role in life. And so, you know, Carol just is, you know, it's not contentious. They're having like, whatever. And it feels like Jessel has finally understood because Carol's like, you know, this is a painful time of a map, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah. And Jess was like, yeah, you know, and, you know, my dad just passed away last year. And it was making me thinking, I just, you know, and I've suddenly started to realize. And then Carol just jumps up at the couch and goes, are those drones?
Starting point is 00:51:13 Oh, are those drones? What is that? Oh, oh, they're birds. And Jessel's just sitting there like, like, uh, uh, And then she calls her Carolyn. Oh my God, Jessel calls her Carolyn. I mean, did she do that on purpose? Because that, like, you couldn't write it better than that.
Starting point is 00:51:39 Jessel calling, of all the people in the group, to call her Carolyn. Honestly, never changed Jessel. It just makes me laugh. Now, you know, I've been my thoughts known about the, the flying situation and the pull-out couch accommodations. We got to talk about this dinner in the pool. Is this a thing? Now, I was imagining when Erica first described this, I'm thinking, oh, they have like
Starting point is 00:52:12 a wading pool kind of situation where, you know, there's like an inch or two of water, and you're just kind of like, oh, like you can walk in the pool and just kind of like, skim your toes through the water and like, oh, like, we're, oh, we're in the pool and you can set up the table and the chairs and, oh, you're just kind of like, your toes are like daintily grazing the surface of the water. They're having dinner in water up to their upper calves. If you're a short person, that could be knee deep water. This is so, I'm sorry, it's so unshique to me. like why are we in the pool? And it's not even like the middle of the day and it's hot outside.
Starting point is 00:53:03 So then it'll feel nice to be like in the cool water. It's like nighttime. It's windy. They're on the top of the, remember I looked at the Google map. They're on the top, you know, elevated part of the island. So the wind, I'm sure it's like, they're being offered like blankets for their shoulders that are then dropping into the water.
Starting point is 00:53:20 And I'm like, is the, and then you're going to be finished with dinner and your legs and feet are going to be pruny from the water? The vision, I mean, it's not, it's not coming together for me, but I do love the, the reaction shots of Erica going around the house and telling each of the ladies that they need to dress a certain way for dinner because they're having dinner in the pool. And she, first she has to tell Carol not to wear jeans to dinner because they're having dinner in the pool. And then she, you know, she tells Jessel, Jessel's coming out in her skirt in her, her plastic heels. And she goes, oh, well, honey, the shoes are part of the look. What do you mean? Don't wear shoes to dinner. And then Erica's like, oh, maybe it's okay because
Starting point is 00:54:15 they're plastic. Plastic. No, maybe they're leucite. And of course, the editors put the definition of lucite on the screen, which is they're plastic shoes. Even Haley's like dinner in the pool And you know, she'll go with the flow She probably hit the blunt She's feeling good She's like, why are we swimming? Why am I?
Starting point is 00:54:37 I'm thinking of Ramona Who are you to get me wet? Just, I don't love it. But we're at dinner and, you know, We're talking about Erica and not making as much money as her husband And Daisy's like, you know, I know a lot of women now who make more money than her husband. Just not you.
Starting point is 00:54:55 Look, I mean, having a, this is not something in past iterations of housewives that would have been controversial. I mean, the first season of Roney, you have Luann, whose whole thing was, I'm married to a count. You had Jill Zarin, who was like, I'm married to the count of carpet, of fabric. and I think it is indicative of how different the world of Housewives is now, that it feels like Erica is almost having to, like, defend the fact that her husband is rich and she's, like, not bringing as much to the table. Because here's the thing. Erica seems like a lovely person.
Starting point is 00:55:41 I think that she is, you know, I think it's cool that she's doing her fitness instructor stuff, and she wants to be, you know, like, she should do whatever she wants to do. But, like, the reason you're on houseways is because you're married to a rich guy. And that's okay. Justice for women who just happened to be married to a rich guy. And that's how they got cast on a reality show. And I think that is just as interesting in a different way than Daisy, who is Martha Stewart's makeup artist and is bringing a different new element to the show. But at the same time, it's like, you do have to wonder, it's like, why is Erica doing this?
Starting point is 00:56:25 And I think that whether it's doing, teaching, you know, kickboxing or whatever, or doing housewives or some other venture, it's like everybody wants to have their own stuff. even if you have no inkling that it could be a billion dollar business on the level of what your husband has like it's just like nice to have your own thing and you know housewives is a specific thing and it seems like you know for erika it's like she had this like crazy fucking wedding at the pyramids with no taco bell oh can't get everything but like yeah she like she's figuring out her own way in the world. And housewives is part of that and fitness is part of that. And I just like, I don't know.
Starting point is 00:57:16 I like that the women are asking the questions about Erica that I feel like normal people would have. But at the same time, I'm like, I don't think Erica's doing anything wrong. The house is the house. Sorry the beds are pullouts. I hope you sleep wonderfully. But the other thing that's bubbling up this episode is that Daisy tells Aaron, Daisy and Aaron really like a dynamic duo, Fast Friends.
Starting point is 00:57:43 And Daisy tells Aaron that Jessel said that her flood was an insurance scam. And Daisy presents, I would say a very flattened version of this story. Because, of course, when you actually watch back the footage, it's Daisy, it's Erica, and it's Jessel. And all three of them are talking about this. All three of them are laughing about it. And I would say all three of them are contributing to the conversation in a way that is, nobody's shutting it down. Let's just say that.
Starting point is 00:58:21 And so Aaron, I think, is understandably very upset to hear that Jessel has been throwing this out there. I mean, it's a nasty thing to, it's a nasty thing to suggest. Even if you're saying it's a joke, it's like, yeah, I'm like upset about my house being, damaged, maybe don't joke about it, bitch. It's like, Aaron is pissed and I get it, but she is pissed at Jessel. And, you know, I think it's only right that when she brings it up to Jessel, Jessel's going to be like, well, I mean, Daisy was there too. And so I'm curious to see how the, how this develops and whether Dasey was there.
Starting point is 00:59:08 lazy will feel Aaron's wrath in any kind of similar way to what Jessel is feeling. Because I do think, like, in this specific situation, Jessel is not really more to blame than anybody else. So I don't know. I did one moment that I kind of loved, though, is when Jessel and Aaron are talking. And Aaron goes, do you understand what I'm dealing with? Maybe you don't understand it. Because you don't own a house.
Starting point is 00:59:35 And Jessel just looks at the camera. She's like, the stare straight into the camera. We've gotten it a few times. You know, Wendy had one of those on Potomac last year. We got a couple from K. Michelle on Atlanta. Look, I'm not saying I want these shows to be like the office where it's constantly, you know, Pam looking at the camera from across the room when Dwight is doing something stupid. But every once in a while, it just tickles me. It, ooh, it sends a little tingle up my spine.
Starting point is 01:00:07 and I am Roney is really They're doing it right now And I am I'm appreciating what they're doing Oh Salt Lake I talked about a little bit With earlier with you know
Starting point is 01:00:21 A few different things that are happening The one thing I want to comment on Just to wrap it up quickly The Kwai stuff I still feel like I don't have a fully formed opinion Because to me like Quai is still somebody that I just met yesterday But I do
Starting point is 01:00:37 think that I believe Whitney when Whitney is saying that Kauai was talking shit about Meredith she goes do you remember in my foyer Whitney Rose being a girl that says foyer
Starting point is 01:00:52 period but Kwi fully denying that she said something negative about Meredith I don't think that Whitney would be standing 10 toes down about this if it just wasn't true. Because Whitney starts this
Starting point is 01:01:15 episode out saying that her relationship with Kwai is sacred to her. And I think that Whitney, you know, Whitney made a poor choice in sharing that toothbrush story with Angie. You know, she says that she shared it in kind of a lighthearted way to indicate to Angie that Kauai was not somebody that was going to be, you know, judgmental or whatever. To me, that rings true. I believe that. And, you know, maybe it was a little shady. And maybe, you know, you're gossiping a little bit.
Starting point is 01:01:46 But like, whatever. Kauai clearly has moved on from that story. She, you know, it brushed it off her back when Angie brought the toothbrushes. But with this other stuff, when, you know, when we're talking about the biker bar and Bronwyn is saying that at the biker bar, we put a dollar in the jar for biker bar, when she's saying that Quai was talking bad about all the women in the group except for Meredith. And, you know, we have the footage of her talking about Lisa. We know that she was talking about Heather and Angie.
Starting point is 01:02:26 And, you know, Quay is clearly somebody who has a lot of opinions about a lot of people. And, you know, same. I've spent six years saying them into a microphone. Kauai just started saying them into a microphone last week, and she's still figuring out the nuances of that. And the one thing that it seems like she didn't say into the microphone is whatever she allegedly did or didn't say in Whitney's foyer. And look, I just think it's like I have no reason not to believe Whitney.
Starting point is 01:02:57 And even if I think, I mean, I guess the reason not to believe Whitney, is that she sometimes lies about other things. But in this case, I'm like, I think that Kwai is, she's like flying a little too close to the sun for somebody who just got their wings on Thursday, you know? So we'll see what happens. We'll see what happens. I do love Brittany and Detective Munn when she's like,
Starting point is 01:03:21 well, you know, I just, I looked up the deed to Bronwyn's house because I just want to be right about something. She's like, you know, I do real estate, so I just had to... Go off. I mean, again, this is what Housewives is about. Look up the deed. Talk shit about the island. Let your, let it say whatever you want. That's what we're here for. What a day. What a time. Thank you so much for listening for watching. Don't forget to rate, review, subscribe, YouTube.com slash at Bravo by Betches. We'll be here with Carol Radzwell next Tuesday. I hope you all will listen and watch. And until next time, be cool. Don't be all like uncool.
Starting point is 01:04:14 I was an Avenger, but I'm not a hero anymore. On October 14th, the Vision returns for the final chapter of the groundbreaking trilogy. That family wasn't real. You sure about that? I had a father called Vision. How is this possible? Don't miss the two-episode premiere of Marvel Television's Vision Quest. Nothing bonds a family together quite like Mortal Jeopardy.
