Moblad. New season is now streaming on Paramount Plus.
Hey, everyone.
Welcome back to the Mentioner-R-L podcast.
We are here.
It's Friday, September 18th.
I am recording this just, FYI, like a week early,
because we are in the midst of filming something very fun this week
that you will get to see shortly.
More to come, but we're doing this a little early.
So also, if you think I'm wearing the same outfit
that I was wearing in last Friday's episode,
maybe you're right.
I try to be a man of mystery, but you never know.
No, we do have a lot to talk about today still, though.
We're going to talk about the Salt Lake City season premiere.
We're going to talk about this week's episode of Real Housewives of New York.
And I'm going to get into the new season of Secret Lives of Mormon Wives just a little bit.
I have not gotten to watch the whole thing yet, but I have some thoughts about where that show is going.
So if there's any breaking news that has happened this week, if like a meteorite has
struck Bluestone Manor or if Bethany Frankel has, you know, opened, you know, 12 new locations
of Supermodel Cafe. We'll get to it next week. There's so much going on. We're not going to get to
talk about Ultimate Girls Trip or the next gen reunion, sadly today. But again, we'll catch up next week.
But let's talk about Salt Lake City because that I think is, you know, it's one of the most
consistent shows on Bravo the last few years and it is something that everybody looks forward to
being on the calendar and you know this um this season premiere is very different because of course
you know we all knew about it when it was happening Robert Jr died and it the timing of it is
you know really just like complicated at the beginning of the season and so
knowing that they were about to start filming when this happened in real time.
I mean, of course, how you're figuring out what to put on a TV show is not the most important thing,
but you're wondering, like, what is the right way to do this?
And I think in this premiere, you could sort of feel, you could feel that they maybe weren't quite sure
what is the right way to do this.
I mean, it's a horrible situation to have to navigate for, I mean, obviously, first and foremost for Mary and for her family, for all the women in the group who have, you know, spent years around Mary, have met and spent time with her son, have been in her home, have come to her church, all of that stuff.
For all the people working on this show, I mean, I think this is something we don't always hear a lot about with, you know, the fourth wall and everything.
everything, but people that work on these shows oftentimes are working on them for multiple
years, multiple seasons, and in a way can become just as close with the people that they work
with as the women in the cast. I mean, it is really to think about a loss like this within
the fabric of the show and then to have to sort of in real time figure out like how do we
navigate this? How do we talk about this, depict this in a way that feels both, you know,
sensitive and respectful of the magnitude of the loss, but also is creating, you know, a version
that we can show to the audience that feels appropriate. And I think, you know, Mary is somebody who
has really been on a fascinating journey and her time as a housewife. You know, she was
beamed down to us from outer space. It felt like as this woman talking about hospital smell
and, you know, having hands, you know, legs cut off and all of that. And has really, you know,
there were times when people were, you know, questioning a lot of her church and everything like
that. And then she left the show and she came back. And I think over the last couple of years, we really
have seen a sort of a softer side of her, a more vulnerable side of her, and specifically around
what she has gone through with her son. And so, you know, this happening really felt like this,
you know, just tragic culmination of these, you know, times that we've seen her on the show. And it is,
I mean, going into this premiere, it is so heartbreaking and uncanny and a little strange watching the first scene of the episode of Mary and her cousin, Big Joe at home.
The day after Robert Jr. got out of jail, he had been in jail when they filmed the, I think when they filmed the prior season reunion.
and he was in there for like 80 something days.
And, you know, her cousin Joe had gone and brought him home.
And seeing her in this mindset and this, I think they say it's like three weeks before they were going to start really filming the season.
And clearly they wanted to film this moment as sort of a pickup scene to cover this, you know, big thing that was happening in Mary's life.
And seeing her feeling like she has.
come out on the other side of something talking about, you know, Robert Jr. is not in the scene.
I don't know if they filmed with him at all that day. If they did, I'm kind of glad they didn't show it,
because I think that would have felt a bit morbid, to be honest. But seeing Mary's relief almost
that it felt like one chapter was closing and there was this possibility and this hope for,
or something on the other side of it.
And of course, knowing the ultimate outcome,
it's just, it's like, God, it's so, it's so horrible to have to like think about that.
And so then they cut to three weeks later.
And we don't see Mary again until the end of the episode.
I, you know, I think, you know, it's something that a lot of people were talking about when this was happening was like, is she going to do this season?
Like, is she, how is that even going to work?
She's going to be what, like, you know, fighting about something dumb while going through this and all of that.
And so in the premiere, you know, you can feel again that they're kind of like figuring out how to navigate this in real time.
And they start with all the women are heading over to Angie's house minus Mary to kind of process this as a group.
This is before the funeral service has happened, the homegoing.
This is seemingly the first time that most of them have seen each other.
And we get a little bit of confessional moment while they're all driving to Angie's house.
And it's, you know, you sort of hear, Angie's the one that kind of heard the news first. And, you know, she and Mary have had a really close relationship the last couple of years. And so, you know, hearing Angie talk about that is devastating. And then hearing Heather say that Angie called me and I knew that something is wrong. And, you know, Meredith talking about, you know, she's lost people in her family and in tragic circumstances. And just kind of like, no.
Knowing for everybody in this group, even though they have their, you know, their differences and their disagreements and things like that, like there's nobody in the world.
I would think that wouldn't feel the intensity of this kind of situation when it is somebody that you know and share this, you know, connection with and have known for years and have had in your life.
And so seeing them all get together, I mean, it was, it was nice.
Again, it felt kind of strange almost to be kind of kicking off a season with this type of,
almost this like lack of energy.
Because I think that's the thing with something like this.
It's like such a major, it's such a major thing to have to deal with that it kind of
necessarily sucks all the air out of the room. And so I think it, again, it felt appropriate to kind of
set the tone in this way where they are in a space where it is kind of like, we're all here
for the same reason. We all know how much we want to support Mary. And that's kind of the most
important thing right now. And the one time at this event when that vibe kind of gets a little
disruptive is when Whitney is like, well, you know, I of course have, you know, stuff to apologize
for and I will, you know, plan to do so when it feels more appropriate. And Meredith and Lisa
already look like, come on. What the, like this, this fucking girl, get her out of here. And
we learn more about that in in short order but uh no it just i thought it was um i thought it was a
a good way good way i thought it was it felt like an appropriate way to sort of start the season
and then it comes full circle with the end of the episode where mary has all the women over to her
house but before they get there the thing that really i mean i was really really
you know, I was very emotional watching this episode, and I imagine that most of you probably were as well.
The moment that was the toughest for me was when it's before all the women come over,
and Mary is like calling after Robert Jr's dog.
And we see her go in his room.
And she's talking about, you know, what it's been like having his dog here.
And, you know, that she let him go in the room and, and, you know, smell the clothes that he was wearing and his, you know, his sheets and things like that.
And that she could sense that the dog knew that he was gone.
And, you know, so now she has this, this dog and feels this kind of, I mean, Mary doesn't seem like she would be a huge pet person, is just maybe my guess.
that now this piece of Robert Jr. carries this, you know, heavier weight for her,
where it is this positive, like he's still here.
Like this piece of him is still here.
I get to be close with something that he was close with.
And I, man, it just is hearing her talk about it and seeing her kind of handling these emotions.
it really is amazing.
I mean, she's so, she seems so strong.
And that is, I mean, when all the women come over,
obviously they're, you know, so sorry for her loss and all of that.
But it is like the way that she is kind of exhibiting this like poise,
kind of with the group, it's like she's talking.
She's kind of, she's like holding court with the women.
And she is specific, this is when I think like the sort of like pastor
instinct kicks in almost where she is like so present with them and is is so deliberate in how
she's thanking each of them for what they have been bringing to her. She's like, Lisa, you're sending
me groceries and, you know, Heather, you've been doing this and Meredith and Bronwyn and I've been
hearing from you in this way and like it's almost like the, obviously I'm sure she's
been going through just like every possible emotion in the last few weeks, but that like the way that
she is taking the time in the moment to really be like present with these women who are
trying to be there for her in any way they can. I just thought it was a really, um, a really lovely
scene. And also she talks about how her brother and her sister have not been around. She hasn't
heard from them. They weren't at the funeral. Um,
And talking about just like the idea of family that like these women are her family, you know, for better for worse sometimes.
But that like she doesn't have a lot of people around her like that.
You know, we see her cousin at the beginning of the episode.
In the preview for the season, there's, we see a preview of her with Robert Sr.
who we haven't seen on the show in a really long time.
I don't know exactly what their relationship dynamic is like,
but we know, you know, Mary is somebody who I don't think has a very big circle.
I don't think she's somebody who goes out of her way to really, like,
bring in a lot of people to her life.
Obviously, she has her church.
Obviously, she has the women in this cast.
But, like, when you go through something like this, I mean, I thought it was, you know, really,
you know, a sort of interesting element of it when Angie was talking about how she and Mary always
talked about being mothers of only children and Bronwyn can relate to this as well.
And like he was he was her kid.
He was, you know, her only child.
And I think that's like just a whole other element to it.
But anyway, I do think I think they handled it the best they could.
And there's other stuff in the episode that I want to get into.
But I wanted to kind of like package this as much as possible.
And talk through it.
I, you know, if you haven't watched the episode yet, first of all,
you know, sorry for spoiling things, but also like get a tissue.
Be ready.
Pause it if you need to.
Take your time.
Man, there's just, there's no, there's no good way to navigate something like this.
And I thought, I mean, credit to the producers.
and editors of this show who it seemed like really, you know, tried to give everyone what they
needed. And I think the audiences included in it. I mean, people were so invested in Marian and
Roberts' story. And I think it felt to me watching this episode, I felt like they really
handled it with such care. And I also, I loved another thing that they talk so much about
the homegoing ceremony and how beautiful it was and how it was. And how it was.
this like joyous celebration of life and all of this.
I am so glad they didn't try and film that or like take us inside of it.
I just think we get to hear about it.
I'm sure it was lovely.
It's things like that where I'm like it would have been so easy for them to be like,
you know, inserting footage from that.
Just like we get enough.
We hear enough.
But yeah, I mean, just like all my love to Mary and everybody.
but we've got some drama to get to as well.
It's not all just sitting around and grieving
because Lisa and John are trying to work on their marriage.
We go to Lisa's house and she's like,
I'm trying to make a grilled cheese.
The idea that you are, whatever Lisa's age is,
and you have to say you're trying to make a grilled cheese.
It's like, baby, just make the sandwich.
which it's not that hard.
It occurred to me watching this episode.
I always, I really like the Barlow family dog Kendall, spelled K-E-N-D-L-E.
That has always tickled me, but it occurred to me.
I think Kendall looks like the dog from the Simpsons, Santa's Little Helper.
I think that's kind of the vibe that I get from Kendall.
She doesn't really know what's going on.
But she wants the cheese, of course.
But Jack and Henry are in the house.
And first of all, Henry, Baby Gorgeous, he looks so grown.
He looks so old.
He's only 14, but he's, I'm like, in the, like, hi baby gorgeous meme, he looks like a, you know, like he just came out of the womb.
And now he's kissing girls.
But he's not allowed to date, but Jack has been dating a lot.
He's been bringing a million girls home since he got back from his mission.
And now Henry wants to act like him.
I don't know.
Look, I know that Jack is an adult.
this point. I don't really need to hear a lot about the Barlow boys dating habits. I'm sure in like
18 months time he will be engaged to some beautiful Mormon young lady. And until then, I don't
really need to hear about who Jack Barlow's kissing. I don't need to know. It's not doing anything
for me. I just like this, for some reason, the Salt Lake children have not been as
Nobody has really popped.
I mean, watching that Georgia gay peacock micro thingy, the girl doesn't have it.
None of the gay girls do.
The Whitney Rose kids, Bobby and what's his name, they're not really, there's not a lot of star power in the kids on these shows.
This show specifically.
I mean, we have NextGen.
You have people leading shows.
You have people with their own franchises.
I don't know. The Salt Lake kids, I just am like, I mean, I hope I want Elektra to have her horse, but I don't, I don't know. I guess they're young, too. But Jack Barlow is an adult. I mean, I guess Brooks Marks was kind of the breakout. But even him, least interesting one to look out in next gen, that's for sure. No, but John is apologizing to Lisa for kind of how he handled things with them last year. And of course, like we, I had kind of forgotten how, um,
rough their vibe was last year because remember they went to that lunch last season where
he was basically like making fun of her like he was saying how she feels like he doesn't listen
he's like you feel like I don't listen like but I mean Lisa of course has things she could
work on as we all do you know she was a little late to that van on real housewise ultimate
girl's trip um but no there she's acknowledging that last season
was really tough for them and that she wasn't sure kind of like where they were going.
And it seems like he is recognizing that and trying to make an effort, which good for him.
Lisa is desperate to avoid the divorce and separation bug that has been going around in Salt Lake City for the last year.
Because of course, since last season, Bronman and Todd are no longer together.
she has been Dayton Brandon Good.
She's been out on the town.
She sold her house and now she has 30 days to get out.
She has,
Brownman's whole life has changed.
It really is.
It's interesting.
We hear more, obviously at the reunion she had announced that they were separated,
but we hear a little bit more.
She's talking about how sort of a big tipping point for her was her 40th birthday
when she was just like,
you know, maybe Todd will,
remember or do something and nope 40th birthday came and went no acknowledgement which yeah i mean
Todd is like the kind of person who it seems like just as like well why would why what you're like
are you a little girl you need me to care about your birthday and it's like in fact i kind of do
that is something where it's like i get that there are people who are like birthday people there's like
the Stasi Schroeder's of the world, which is like, it's my birthday.
But even people that, like, aren't birthday people, it's like, I would like a gift.
I don't need to throw myself a huge party, but like, if you're, if you're Mr. Moneybags,
perhaps some jewelry, you know, a bag, a watch, something, to like literally not acknowledge
your wife's 40th birthday, it's pretty bad.
It's pretty bad.
We see Bronwyn and Whitney playing pickleball together, and they're, like, weirdly, like, dropping hints that they're going to, like, les out together, which I don't actually think is going to happen.
But Bronwyn is in the confession, and she's like, yeah, like, people have noticed that something sinks up about Whitney and I, and she's, like, doing the scissoring gesture.
I'm like, ugh!
And she's like, just kidding.
But, like, what's going on?
Whitney
Whitney and Justin
are seemingly
still
together
at this point
but we get the flashback
to the reunion
last season
when Whitney was like
talking to Justin
Mexican
she's like
yeah Benwin was talking about
her separation
and I was like
really really really related to it
with like
you've been going through
but Whitney doesn't seem to have really
made a
a choice one way or the other
I don't, you know, we're not getting like a big update from her.
But she is talking about this drag brunch that she attended and participated in during the off season where she went on stage and said that she fucking hates Meredith and thinks that Lisa's a bitch.
Which like, I would say neither of those are like breaking news headlines.
It's more like, yeah, I assume.
I figured we kind of, I knew as much.
But it's not great to be on stage drunkenly saying that about women that you're, you know,
allegedly in like a friendship circle with, as they like to call the cast.
And Whitney is seemingly on a bit of a journey with her, a healing journey, you could say,
with her relationship with alcohol.
Because she says that she has realized that drinking isn't serving her.
It's more like she's serving it.
And I'm like, okay.
Sleigh Mama with the wordplay, but like, she doesn't really say if she's like fully sober or if she's
trying to drink less or whatever. I noticed at Angie's house when all the women went there, she
declines to have a drink and says she'll just have water because she like doesn't need to be drinking
when she's like sad or whatever. But like, I do feel like it's something where like maybe we should be,
I don't know. She's on her own journey. She can.
do whatever she wants. But, um, but no, Heather is loving being an empty nester, but she has a boyfriend.
We meet her boyfriend, trip. Um, he gets like a whole, like, music video style intro on his
motorcycle and I'm like, this man is not that hot. Like, I'm sorry, like, I mean, handsome guy,
whatever, a nice gray, silver hair. He seems to make Heather happy, but it's like, I don't
think we need the like, you know, Fabio on the motorcycle with, you know, taking up the helmet
treatment. But interestingly, I didn't realize this. I knew she was dating someone. They have known
each other for over 10 years. He did like work for her when Beauty Lab was first starting. And they
dated a little bit in 2016, a full decade ago. That was like right after Heather was
divorced, I think. And she says that at the time they were dating. And then she found out that he was
talking to other women and so they broke it off but now they've found each other again and yada yada
and i am just like i don't know i don't want to be like never give anyone a second chance or
people can't change or whatever but it's like we're in our what like 40s 50s some roundabout there
and you're like giving the guy who was like kind of cheating on you another chance like is there really
I don't know.
I mean, I guess we've known Heather for a long time,
and she has not had a lot of dating success.
So if Trip is making her happy, then sure.
She'd, I do.
She says he doesn't sleep over, but we hang and bang.
I don't love that.
I got to be honest.
First of all, I'm like, if you're a proud empty nester, at that point,
maybe just sleep over.
Like, what's,
She said they've been together at that point for like four months.
I think it's like he could, he could spend the night.
But if you don't want him to, then he shouldn't.
But like, hang and bang.
Heather, you're losing me again.
I want to be, I want to, I want to support.
But man.
Muzzy is actually being nice to Bronwyn for once.
That's nice, but she hasn't filed for divorce yet.
Meredith got a facelift and boy, can we tell.
It has not really settled yet at the beginning of filming.
It's safe to say. It looks like she's wearing a wig the whole time. I don't actually think she is because like
you can see the, you can see her hairline and I don't think she would be wearing a wig that good.
But at the same time, it looks like a wig. What's going on? She looks freshly pulled. Like you saw
Kenya Moore at the Miss USA pageant. Meredith is, her face is sitting like that. She looks a little
spooky. I think she's looking better lately. I mean, she's beautiful, but like you can tell.
But yeah, you know, they, they weren't surprised, though, by Whitney's comments at the drag branch.
They knew that's how she felt, and now she's admitted it.
And again, so that's why I'm kind of like, okay, yeah, we know.
The one thing I thought was interesting with this episode is that Britney Bateman is not in it.
And I remember when they were starting to film for this season, I feel like there were rumors that Britney wasn't going to be on the show this season.
And she is a friend of.
Again, this season, there's also a new, a new girlie that's a friend.
But I just thought it was interesting that in this episode that was very much about family coming together and getting through this tragic thing, Brittany's invite was seemingly lost in the mail.
I just hope that she's not going to get on Instagram and be like, why wasn't I invited to the home going?
I could have sung.
Because that's the exact type of shit Britney would do.
I don't know. I enjoy this premiere.
Extremely emotional.
It's really a...
It's not a normal episode of Housewives.
And how could it be?
So I am very...
I remain very excited for the season.
I'm, you know, really...
I'm wondering kind of how Mary is going to do,
just kind of being tossed back into it.
I hope that she gives herself a lot of grace and takes things slow.
But I mean, our girls are back.
It's good to have them back.
I'm excited to see where we go from here.

Roney, let's talk about it a little bit.
Episode two of the season and Carol
is like actually back back now,
which last week we just got her
little like sex in the city
blog post narration.
And she's
back and what is she doing? She is
taking phone calls in that
classic red Jeep while
she sits and waits to move her car for the street sweeper.
This is like, I actually loved this because it's so classic New York in a way that like
Roney doesn't really, of course, it's, it's New York.
But there are just certain parts of like normal person life in New York that this show has
never really had to, like, had to reference.
And, you know, I don't have a car.
A lot of people don't have cars.
but it is a thing that people sit in their cars for alternate side parking and move and get right back in their parking spot the second the street sweeper comes.
And so the fact that Carol is not only doing this, but is inviting Erica to come film a scene in her car with her while she waits to have to move it for the streets sweeper.
I'm just like that is, to me that's camp.
I loved it.
And I love that somehow suddenly Martha Stewart is like the number one connector of this group because of course,
Daisy is like Martha Stewart's right hand. They're together 24-7. But also we find out that Carol
met Erica through Martha. And we're just dropping Stewart. We're just calling her Martha.
I'm like, oh, Martha. Oh, okay. Yeah, sure. Martha, Martha Stewart, I guess. But Carol says that
her office is her car now and she's like stapling the roof back together. Just great. And
the really interesting thing that we start to hear about in this episode is that Carol's life
has been a little bit turned upside down by the smash hit success of Love Story. Now, in the
first episode, I think Daisy mentioned that she was reading what remains, like after watching the show.
But this week, we really dive into it because first of all, Carol finds out that her book is
on the New York Times bestseller list, like 20 years after it came out, because everybody
wants the tea of this show and this story. So that's a good thing for her. But she is,
she has some, uh, some mixed feelings about, um, about this being a public thing. And obviously,
you know, love story is ultimately about this tragic story of this, you know, plane crash and
Carolyn and JFK Jr. dying. And those were people that were in, close in Carol's life at the time.
And so later in the episode at this like weird surprise brunch for Sae at Maison Close, which is funnily enough, that's where they had the in the city premiere party.
And also I think they did an event for Next Gen NYC there.
I'm like, does Mason Close have like a package deal with NBC Universal?
It's like a punch card.
How many times they rented out they can get like something for free?
I don't know.
But it's a little bit of a weird, a little bit of a weird vibe at this brunch because we started.
out by talking about how Daisy's son's tutor definitely wants to fuck her. And then Aaron's giving a weird
toast that's kind of, you know, side eye at Jessel about how she would never kick her friends
out of her party. And then we get to the love story stuff because Daisy brings it up. She's like,
oh, I've been dying to, I've been dying to ask you about it. Are you getting totally blown up by
questions and DMs and stuff? And Carol's like, yep, totally blown up. And it's like, you can
immediately, you can immediately see a little bit that she's like, yeah, I am getting a lot of
questions and DMs about it, in a way that's like, okay, maybe, maybe then you shouldn't be the, like,
question number 1001. But Jessel is not picking up on those context clues because she's like,
yeah, it's been amazing to, also, I have so many questions. Like, first of all, is Carolyn
Bessette a bitch? It's like, what? And Carol's like, is it,
coming across, she's like, well, yeah, like, a little aloof, like a little, and it's like,
oh my God.
And then just is like, yeah, now it's like Carolyn Beset summer, like all the girls are dressing
like super minimal, like black and Calvin Klein.
And oh my God, you're kind of dressed like that.
And it's like, first of all, like, it's like Carol Radzwell summer.
She's dressed like herself.
Everybody else is, you know, cosplaying this, you know, poor woman that died in the 90s.
And Carol is like, yeah, like, I don't love that.
It's just, you know, like, it's like my family and all of that.
that and Jessel cannot get the picture.
She's like, yeah, like, don't you think that whole family is cursed?
Like, you know, the mom died and then the assassination, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah.
And Carol literally is like, I got to go.
I can't be sitting here with this bitch, like, grilling me insensitively about this, like,
tragic event that happened in my life.
And it was kind of crazy to watch.
But at the same time, I'm like, yes, this is, um,
we're unlocking something interesting here.
Because, I mean, I hope that Carol doesn't spend the whole season being tortured with insensitive questions about, you know, her past, of course.
Well, I want to hear about the Epstein files.
Don't get me wrong.
But I mean this part of her past.
But I am really intrigued by the idea that Carol kind of maybe can't stand Jessel.
And that feels like a thread that we could pull on for the whole.
season to come. So I'm intrigued to see more of that. We also, it's like, the Aaron and Jessel stuff is a little bit
weird. Carol, first of all, corroborates Aaron talking shit about Jessel. But then there's this whole
thing with a dermatologist where Aaron's like, you were a bitch to this dermatologist that I introduced you to,
and that you only started being nice to him because you found out that he does Martha Stewart's Botox.
And again, it's like, Martha Stewart is like, she's the number.
one girl in the group and she's not even here. Martha Stewart is everywhere. But yeah, it does feel
like the Aaron, you know, Aaron brings it up again after Carol leaves. She's like, she's like, yeah,
like, I just really, she only, she's talking to Daisy. She's like, yeah, she only started being
nice when she found out about Martha. And Erica, who we have not gotten like a ton from so far.
She's got some work to do. But she's like, okay, now I see Aaron.
talking to Daisy more about this Jessel thing. And now I see what Jessel has been saying to me about
Aaron. Because remember, Jessel and Erica are like really friends from before she joined the show.
And so, you know, Erica has presumably heard from Jessel how Aaron's like, you know, a snake in a
bitch and kept me just to me. He was talking shit about me at Girl's Trip and all of that. And now she's like,
you know, okay, two plus two makes four. I'm starting to see it.
The other weird thing that happened this episode is this burst pipe at Aaron's house in Sag Harbor.
That looks like a mess.
I just, you know, this is why I rent.
You know, when I have a leak in my ceiling, I just call the super and they come and take care of it.
Is it always that smooth?
No, but it's not my problem.
I don't have to pay for it.
Man, just, I mean, it's crazy.
We talked about it a little.
Aaron was on the show on Tuesday, and we talked about it a little bit, but God, really.
Tough stuff.
I don't know.
We're getting a little bit more info about our new ladies.
Haley,
Haley's annoyed with Erin for telling her date,
Allison from the fire horse party about how some of the girl broke her nose with
her tit.
She's like, yeah, now Allison's not talking to me.
And my marriage is a lavender marriage,
and people don't understand it.
And Aaron is so vanilla.
And she's like, the strawberry jam on the,
the table and I'd rather read Carol's book than talk to Aaron and it's like we first of all
why is Carol's book in it but also it's like okay so immediately Haley and Aaron are you know
not enjoying each other which I think I predicted last week but I do there's there's some interesting
stuff going on Daisy and her husband Eugene they really don't seem to be on the same page about much
he's like calling her while she's out and about to be like did you lock the door did you
turn off the electricity.
Again, like, get a man that is going to, like, treat you like an adult.
I think that's, like, whatever.
I don't know them for a week.
I don't know them at all.
But, like, I've known them.
We've known them for a week.
Okay, the last thing I'm going to talk about just quickly.
Secret Lives and Mormon Wives, they dropped season five last week, and much to my surprise,
season five is only five episodes long.
Now, I am, I'm recording this really early, so I haven't done.
gotten to watch the full season yet. I've only watched the first episode. And this show, as always,
continues to be an absolute mind fuck when it comes to timelines and storylines and when, when,
what's happening when and who's on the show and who's not and who's filming The Bachelorette.
And so this season is primarily filmed in the spring of this year, early, early this year.
So it's after Taylor has gotten back from filming The Bachelorette, but prior to the drama that came out that led to the Bachelorette being pulled, canceled, whatever.
So in real time on the first episode, you know, we have a flash forward where they're like reacting to it, but that's not like the main chunk.
On the first episode, in real time, Taylor has just gotten back from filming the Bachelorette.
and the guy that she chose, of course, is the guy that nobody liked.
You know, Jessie, Macy, and Michaela visited during the Bachelorette, I mean, presumably to be on the show.
And they met the final three guys.
And they were like, yeah, like, there were two that we really, really liked and could totally see being like good guys for her.
And then there was this guy Doug.
And he was kind of weird and was giving like Dakota vibes a little bit.
And also is like a rapper slash singer.
And I love that Layla's like, wait.
and he's white?
And they're like, yeah, and she's like,
mm-mm, absolutely not.
Like, they know what's up.
And also we find out that Taylor's mom didn't like Doug
that she ended up choosing.
But worse than that.
So she's engaged to a guy that everybody hates,
you know, par for the course.
But she comes back and immediately is fucking Dakota again.
What are we doing?
Like, it is wild.
We are five seasons into this show.
And she has been on the same merry-go-round with this piece of shit man the whole time they are acknowledging how toxic they are for each other.
They're acknowledging how, you know, they hate each other, basically.
But she literally cannot quit him.
And I, again, I haven't watched most of the season yet.
I don't know why it's only five episodes.
Like, maybe I'll find out.
But it is so bizarre to me just the fact that, and this sounds crazy, she is being so flippant about the sanctity of The Bachelorette, which like, I know, it's a reality dating show.
Like two with a couples are still together.
But from like a PR standpoint of her having like NDAs and.
contracts and being paid a lot of money to be on these shows.
She is going on The Bachelorette, getting engaged to some guy, doing the whole experience, whatever, and then immediately before and immediately after is going back to this show, which, by the way, is on the same company.
It's all Disney, Hulu, whatever, and is basically treating The Bachelorette like it's a, you know, the shitty plastic ring that you get out of like a vending machine.
And she's like, yeah, like, it's not great that I'm engaged to Doug and also sleeping with Dakota.
It's like, it's called cheating.
Like, why are we acting like this is just like, ugh, I know, I should deal with this.
It's like, you should like not be engaged right now.
And ultimately, we know that they're not.
And this is, it's really the final nail in the coffin of the like, will they, won't they of airing that season of The Bachelorette.
Because now they're fully just spoiling it on secret lives.
Of course, we were supposed to have already seen it months ago.
But, you know, they're fully just saying that she ends up with Doug.
And it's just fascinating to watch.
And the Taylor and Dakota stuff, man, it just is like, how can we not move past this?
But I don't know.
I'll watch the rest of the season.
If I enjoy it, maybe I'll talk about it next week.
But we will have allowed to get into, like I said, next gen reunion,
Ultimate Girls Trip.
We'll catch up on that. Salt Lake, New York,
of course, so much happening next week.
Like I said, Erin Leachie was on the show earlier this week.
So go listen to that if you want more Roney,
filling in the blanks and all of that.
And next Tuesday, we have our very fun Michelle Collins back on the show.
Always love catching up with her.
So make sure you are subscribed wherever you watch or listen.
And until next time, be cool.
Don't be all like uncool.
Betches.
Thank you.
