Starting point is 00:00:31 Betches Media presents. Ha ha, laugh, funny. Mention It All, a Bravo by Betches podcast. We don't say that, but now we said it. With me, Dylan Hafer. We're going to check me, boo. Hey, everyone. Welcome back to the Mention at All podcast, and welcome to another new week.
Starting point is 00:00:50 I am still recovering. I feel a little sleep deprived from last night's Grammy Awards, which rudely did not wrap up until around 11.50 p.m. Eastern time. But, hey, this is the first day in America that we have woken up. to Beyonce as a best album winner. So congratulations, Beyonce, congratulations to the Grammys for finally doing the right thing after some false starts in the past. I had a really fun weekend on Saturday night. I had the absolute honor and pleasure of being a presenter at the Golden Crappy Awards. Watch What Crappins, one of our fellow favorite Bravo Real Housewives podcasts. They had me out to their show in New York.
Starting point is 00:01:33 They've done this for a few years now. They were in LA last year. They were back in New York. Ben and Ronnie, who do that show, are just the best. So much fun. And it was a wild night at the town hall in New York. Dolores and Margaret were there. Jessel and Rebecca Minkoff were there.
Starting point is 00:01:51 I'm hoping that Becky has not heard all of the things I've said about her on this show. But at the same time, I don't really care. We have not met in person. We've been close enough in proximity that, I kind of feel like we should have met, but, you know, I'm not losing sleep over it. Kyle Cook was there. I've seen Kyle, like, three times in the last week now. Summer House season is coming around again. Patricia Altschel was there just looking radiant. And some of our other favorite fellow podcasters, content creators, just an all-around fun night. There were musical
Starting point is 00:02:27 performances. There were awards. I got to present the award for Best Villain, which was always a But we have a fun episode for you today. I have an interview in just a few minutes with Jillian Bell, who's a hilarious actress, comedian, writer. You probably know her from workaholics. Brittany runs a marathon, Rough Night. She's been in so many great projects. And she has a new movie coming out on Netflix this week, kind of pregnant.
Starting point is 00:02:54 And she, most importantly, is a huge housewives fan. So I had a really fun time chatting with her. We talked about her new movie a little bit, but also her love of Bravo and and some of her favorite moments, favorite memories. So excited for you all to hear that. Boy, there is a lot going on, though. I just finished watching before I sat down to record last night's Real Housewives of Potomac finale. A little bit of a strange finale.
Starting point is 00:03:18 I'm not sure we really needed the supersized episode. I think that sometimes it's a little confusing to me when Bravo chooses to and not to deploy the like 54 minutes with no commercials. I'm not sure that Stacey's Strat for Stray's event really warranted like 45 full minutes of screen time. But hey, I think the theme of this finale and of the world we're living in right now is that things aren't looking so great for Karen Hugar. First of all, we knew in advance that she was not attending the reunion this season. Well, we knew in advance of seeing the preview. We found out the day of the reunion. First of all, the preview for this season's reunion looks fucking spicy, you guys.
Starting point is 00:04:04 When I had Wendy on a couple weeks ago, I kind of was getting the sense from her that this was going to be a really standout reunion. And I know, I know, they always do the thing of like, well, you're just going to have to wait and see. You're going to have to wait and watch the reunion. And sometimes, yeah, that pisses me off. But you can tell a little bit when somebody's just doing their, like, like, PR approved talking point of tune into the reunion Sunday night at nine versus when somebody's like, girl, that reunion, you have to see it to believe it. And Wendy was really, like, she was, she was laying it on thick and watching the preview. I get it. I'm excited. I can't
Starting point is 00:04:44 wait to see it. Karen, obviously not there. Last week, we got news that she had fired her legal team. the legal team that presumably encouraged her to go to trial versus accepting some kind of plea deal. Now she's facing two years in prison. She fired her legal team and she also requested a delay in her sentencing, which her sentencing was supposed to be last week originally. She requested the delay basically because she is in rehab, I think. So that now is, I guess, set for later this month. but the same, you know, the same jail time and everything is still on the table. But the finale, aside from all of the legal whirlwind that Karen is going through,
Starting point is 00:05:30 she just kind of looks like an asshole in the finale because she's angry at Stacey for not sticking up for her enough. She's been dragging Mia through the mud and exposing this stuff about the paternity, which isn't any of her business. And then she gets exposed for talking shit about Wendy. all season. Because Stacey says that before she even joined the show, she and Karen went to lunch at Tally Ho or whatever Karen's favorite spot in Potomac is. And she was telling her, you know, giving her the lowdown a little bit on the ladies, which is, I think, fair game for if you're friends with a newbie. But talking all sorts of mess about how Wendy's self-centered and you
Starting point is 00:06:07 shouldn't trust her as a friend. A year ago, I might have said, you know, yeah, Wendy, Wendy can kind of be annoying. I get it, Team Karen. Wendy's had a great season. Karen has had a tough season. And I feel like the disconnect for me has been if Karen knew that she was going to be in this DUI hellscape, I feel like she should have tried really hard to have this season put her in a positive light and show her to be a good friend and a sympathetic figure and somebody who really is like an important member of the community and all of this. You know, she's out here saying that Mia's not Potomac.
Starting point is 00:06:50 I don't know what Potomac is, but this doesn't seem like Potomac behavior to me. I do love the little tidbit that Giselle is like on the fence about whether to believe Stacey until she says what restaurant that Karen took her to for lunch. And she's like, well, if she's taking you to Tally Ho, she's taking you to the right spot, she's giving you the right information. Now I believe everything you're saying. A great detail. And then, oh my God, the fog machines and all the dogs.
Starting point is 00:07:17 shitting everywhere at the end? Utter chaos. I think that this season of Potomac has been a little bumpy, a little up and down, some great stuff, some tough stuff, a lot of in-between. But I'm excited for the reunion. And I am now suddenly very curious where they're planning to go with this cast. Because Karen seems to be, you know, if she doesn't end up behind bars when they're filming the next season, there is kind of like a stink on her a little bit, I think.
Starting point is 00:07:52 I don't know. I don't think Ashley's had the best season, but you know who I'm kind of missing a little bit right now? Don't come from me. Seeing Robin out and about for traitors, she and Jazeel were on Watch What Happens Live together last night. I think there's a world in which. That's all I will say.
Starting point is 00:08:11 I don't think it's a given. I don't know anything, but I think that there is a world in which. And I'll leave it there. Lots of stuff to talk about. We will get into Traders, Southern Charm, everything more later this week. But for now, I am excited for you to hear my conversation with Jillian Bell.

See you this summer. I'm so excited to be joined now by the hilarious actor and writer Jillian Bell. You probably know Jillian from her standout work in projects like workaholics,
Starting point is 00:09:41 Rough Night and Brittany runs a marathon, and her new movie Kind of Pregnant is streaming on Netflix on February 5th. And crucially for our purposes here, Jillian is a fellow Real Housewives Watcher. So welcome to the show, Jillian Bell. Thank you. I'm so excited to be here. I'm thrilled. thrilled so excited to chat with you i had a chance to watch your new movie kind of pregnant it's a lot of fun you've been in so many fun ensemble comedies over the years and i feel like this is another one to add to the pile i'm curious what was what was it about this script or this story when you first heard about it that really made you want to be attached to it the first thing was amy schumer the first thing was
Starting point is 00:10:20 hearing that amy schumer was attached and she hit me up and said you know we're shooting this movie i was in prep to direct my first movie ever. And thank goodness, it got pushed, and I was able to do both because I read the script. And I was like, well, there's no way I'm not going to be in this if they're asking me. And I was so grateful to be a part of it. And I think the thing that I love about it the most
Starting point is 00:10:46 when I read it was, first of all, it's laugh out loud funny. But it really addresses a lot of things that I feel like we don't hit on often, which is like the realness of like pregnancy and hormones and what goes on with you. It's usually told through the male perspective sometimes. And I also feel like it really got raw and real with friendships and how we, you know, when it's a real friendship,
Starting point is 00:11:17 you see the ugly side of someone. The side they don't want to show anyone else. But the side they feel safe enough to be there, you know, most, the worst version of themselves in front of you. And that's how you know it's a real friendship is when you make it through the biggest bumps in life. And in this case, it's a little mini bump, but yeah. It's a literal bump. Yeah. Watching the movie, I was kind of struck by it. You come away with, obviously, there's romantic elements and there's so much comedy, but really the central relationship in the movie is yours and Amy's character. And I
Starting point is 00:11:54 think that really comes through that through these different changing life stages and as you're, you know, as you're getting older, not everybody's at the same stage of life at the exact same time and really navigating those differences and how you can keep those relationships really at the forefront of your life, even as things are changing. You know, I see all these videos actually on Instagram, I think that come from probably TikTok that are like, oh my gosh, I told me my best friend that I'm pregnant. And then she said, I'm also pregnant. I'm like, who? Who are these women? Like, I've literally never had this where it's like two of my best friends are both pregnant
Starting point is 00:12:30 at the same time or both getting married. Like I feel like everything is so spread apart and everyone's on different timelines. And I actually think it's great to celebrate that and honor that because for me, I was really a late bloomer in terms of like finding love, deciding if I want to have a baby. Like all of these things that kind of, some people develop at like 19 and they know exactly what they want. And I think for me, it just, it took longer. And I think that, you know, if we were to just say like, okay, well, here's the model. You know, we've seen that a lot in movies where it's like you're 25 to 30 and that's when you get married and then have your first kid.
Starting point is 00:13:13 And then you have your second kid and you maybe your third kid. And I'm like, that's not the model for a lot of people now. And so I feel like having a movie that reflects the honest truth about it and like the honest bouts of jealousy we have with each other. And I don't know, just honoring that. I feel like is just such a big deal. It's funny. Like sometimes you'll watch like a rom-com or something from 20 years ago. And it's like, wow, the main character is 23.
Starting point is 00:13:40 And she's been through every man in the city. And how is she going to settle down? And it's like, okay, let's chill out here. Truly. It's like, my life is over. 25 and I haven't met the guy and I'm like, what? This is the message we're putting out there. It's very 2010, I feel like. This episode is brought to you by Prime. I mean, you've had a chance to be in some really
Starting point is 00:15:08 great ensemble casts in lots of different projects that you worked on. It sounds like your upcoming directorial debut, which I'm excited to see, is much in the same vein, like an amazing cast of women that are coming together. What kind of draws you to those, those stories and those sort of like work situations, I guess, where you really get to be a part of that ensemble. I think even having an interview like this where I'm like talking about being around an ensemble of just women is so rare. Like I can name the ones that I've been on on one hand and it doesn't fill up the hand. And so I'm just drawn to it. I'm drawn towards like weird stories about women or things that are unexpected or a journey that, you know, we haven't seen eight million times. And I just felt like
Starting point is 00:15:52 especially with this one, I'm like, I've never really seen it done in this way. With Summer 69, the one that I just directed, it's such a bonkers premise. And I really wanted to show that, like, with that movie, it's also about female friendship. And it's sort of disguised as well. Like, it's not the, when you hear about the movie or you see the poster usually, it's like, okay, here's one idea of the movie. It could be a movie that's, you know, Will Forte and Amy Schumer falling in love?
Starting point is 00:16:26 But it really isn't. It's really about the people in her life and how she's jealous of not being a mom yet and meeting all these different women that are at different stages of like wanting a kid or not wanting a kid or being pregnant and not really wanting a kid, you know? I mean, so I just feel like it's really special
Starting point is 00:16:46 to be a part of something like that. And it's really important. for me to continue to tell those types of stories. So I'm just attracted to them. I'm drawn to them. Yeah. I feel like it's one of those things where every time a movie like this comes out, people watch it and there's that message of like, why don't we have more movies like this? And it's like there's always that conversation of like, why don't we make more movies like this? And I think, you know, something like this and knowing that now you're directing and like putting those out into the world. Yeah, it's like something when you have the chance to do it, you kind of have to.
Starting point is 00:17:16 You have to. And I mean, it's taken me, you know, 16 years in this industry to even get my directorial debut made, you know? It's like I was lucky enough that someone sent me a project and I thought that there was something really beautiful, a beautiful message in it. And I rewrote the script and sort of was just like, we need to make more of these films. And I will jump at the chance any chance I get to move that path forward. As I was like thinking about this interview, I was like, honestly, like, I feel like part of the reason that Housewives is so resonant with a lot of people is because it is that kind of like women's group that messy things are happening, but messy and real and everybody's at a different place. And so all of a sudden it's like we want movies to give us those stories, but we also are finding these places that are giving it to us in more of a real, you know, structured package like that. It's it kind of all plays into the same bucket in a way, I think. Yeah, there's this really beautiful clip from Real Housewives, and I felt bad after having seen it because I didn't realize it was something that she never wanted to be on an episode. And I'm so sorry, I'm going to forget her name. She was in New York, blonde, big eyes, big expressions.
Starting point is 00:18:35 Tell me the scene and then I'll... She finds out that her mother passed away. Oh, this was Vicki Gunvelson on Orange County. Yeah. Oh, my gosh. Okay. I know what you're talking. I'm so sorry. I mixed up the housewife and now I'm dead to the housewife community. But I will say it was one of the most real raw things I've ever seen.
Starting point is 00:18:56 It is like I've had that where I'm finding out that my father was passing away and we rushed to the hospital to be by his side. And that moment where you go from like kind of just like fighting with your girlfriends or whatever and then you are in a place like the low. lowest point in your life and the girlfriends just surrounded her, just like literally, we're physically picking her up. I was just like, that is such a beautiful moment. And it's such a testament to what happens in female friendship. We can see this side of each other that is just not the side that you ever hope is shown. And then have your friends just come and immediately, like, pick you up and say, you're going
Starting point is 00:19:42 to get through this because I will be there for you. And I just think it's so beautiful. Yeah. And the idea that's something that maybe is one of, maybe you don't think is your most flattering moment or isn't a moment that you are, you know, maybe excited about sharing with the world. Still, people can watch that and connect with it and really find something meaningful in it. Absolutely. I was sad when she said she didn't want it aired because I honestly was like, I see myself in that moment. Like I think it's actually a very beautiful thing.
Starting point is 00:20:07 But also they should have respected her wishes and not try it, I guess. There's some question marks sometimes. I'm glad I'm not on reality TV and I I don't know. Yeah, me too. Same. But I love watching it. I'm wondering like going back, you know, through the decades and through the years, like where was your kind of first, how did you get into the Real Housewives arena? Okay. I started way late. It was probably like three or four years ago. But my sister was a consistent viewer of New York and Beverly Hills. So this is pre-Salt Lake City, whenever that was. And one day, she was just like, just eat lunch with me and just, we'll just have it on in the background.
Starting point is 00:20:50 And I was like, okay. And something about it, I was just like so drawn to them and the craziness and the drama, but then the, them always coming back together in the end. Like, getting through all of the chaos and the shit and then being like, But you're my best friend in the whole world. And I'm like, they are their best friends. So it just, I don't know, it just pulls you in. And I think Salt Lake City is the best show on television right now, truly.
Starting point is 00:21:22 It's wild. Yeah. And the way that they, those reunions, the way that they can come in on completely opposite islands. I know. And then everybody's crying and hugging. I mean, this last season was incredible. And that finale with Heather Gay telling them, we're going to sit around this table and show each other the worst thing we've ever texted about each other.
Starting point is 00:21:50 And then everyone just went to their phones. And I was like, what? There's been, I mean, it's edited. So I'm sure there was. There's been no discussion. Everyone immediately went through. I was like, this is set up. But I love it.
Starting point is 00:22:03 Yeah. I'm not going to make you go through your phone and find the worst thing you've ever said about. somebody. I think I would get yanked off the Zoom call, but it was, it was great TV for sure. Oh, so good. It was so good. And just like, all of them being like, I want to, what was the phrase? Like, I want to push past this or, no, it was something very specific. Yeah, it's always like, I want to, you know, clean slate, move forward. And then it was like, I said that your hot dog costume is like the way you get ahead with men. I was just, I was appalled by it and I was like, this is thrilling television.
Starting point is 00:22:44 And I have to think like as somebody who is a writer and has a background in comedy that some of these situations, it's like if you wrote that in a script, it would almost seem too ridiculous. It would be too ridiculous. And also like Meredith on the trip with the eye. Yes. The eye mask. Her cornea, yeah. Yeah, and she's like, I, I scratched my cornea.
Starting point is 00:23:09 It's like, what is happening? I mean, also the hidden mic that she thinks is in her room. There's so many things about this cast that are just mind-blowing. And I think, like, something that people maybe don't think about is that I think the comedic elements of those shows are just as important as the drama and the scandal. and that it's like that balance really is what makes it so like addictive. I know. I love to see them have a good time on a trip. Like I'm here for it.
Starting point is 00:23:42 I want one dinner where something blows up, but they usually give us that. I thought it was hilarious last year. Sarah Paulson was in a play, and she talked about when she was doing press that she was channeling Meredith Marks a little bit for her character. Amazing. And she wanted Tony for it, of course.
Starting point is 00:24:01 Of course. But I wonder, like, is there anyone when you think about Real Housewives? Like, have you ever, like, pulled inspiration or gone to that well a little bit when you're working on something where you're like, you know, there might be something there? You know what? I haven't yet, but I do feel like I have a tendency to do, I've done it in a couple of movies. One was like Candy Cane Lane. I did a movie called Reunion. I've done a couple of movies where I do a little bit of a Dorit, which is like a little bit of a British accent that I don't. mean to be doing, but it's just slightly there. So like I feel like there's like a little bit of that in there.
Starting point is 00:24:39 One character that I did for reunion, this movie called Reunion, I had this backstory that never gets revealed, that I grew up and my mom had passed away, my dad was very sick, so I was kind of his caretaker, and so my, I grew up watching Frazier. So like, my accent became sort of what Frazier's was. And I don't know why that was, but I just remembered that when you said that, that was my, that was my backstory. It's so funny.
Starting point is 00:25:10 It's like you have actors where they're like, oh, I write a whole scrapbook and a journal of the backstory. And you're like, I'm just kind of doing Frazier. I'm kind of just, um, she grew up watching Frazier. And so she, that's her family to her. I love that. Oh, my God. That's so funny. The idea of like niche references and things that kept pulled in, obviously that's so important in
Starting point is 00:25:31 comedy and you know you come from you have worked on SNL and been involved in you know improv and the groundlings and everything like even in um in kind of pregnant i noticed there were like a couple of little bravo easter eggs little references i think amy says she wants to throw you a real houseways of new jersey baby shower something like that i feel like that kind of like sweet spot of a reference that like enough people are going to get for it to make it in the movie but it also feels like it's so specific for like a certain group of people are going to be like, okay, now, now I like this a lot. Yeah. It's funny because I got my fiancee into The Real Housewives by showing him name him. I literally was like, you watch this one clip, you tell me you don't want to watch this
Starting point is 00:26:19 show. And he was like, I have to watch it again. So we watched it like four times. And I was like, oh, I got him. I got him with it. But name him is one of the. the funniest moments in TV. Name them. Name them. It's just so because it's so like, what are you, what are you doing right now? Like what is this like? I know. I saw her on a plane. I saw Sutton on a plane. Okay. I couldn't stop staring. Like I would, she must have caught me. I was staring at her so long. And then I was like trying to take longer to put on my coat so that she would walk by. And I, and so when she did, I just go, I love you by the way. And she's like, oh, thank you. And I go, name them. And she goes, name them. And then walked
Starting point is 00:27:01 away. It was my best. I was like, that's what more could you want? You know, that's almost like the best kind of run in because it's like it's such a, it's such a, just like a little gem of a moment. And it's not, it's not too deep. It's nothing. You know, there's no crazy story. It's just like, we had a little moment. Yeah. It's like you're getting Matthew McConaughey to say, all right, all right, all right. You know, it's like, what more can you ask for? That's the story. Let me tell you, nine times out of ten, the housewives are going to be down to repeat a catchphrase. Yeah, I bet. I bet. You said that you are a fan of old New York.
Starting point is 00:27:38 Yes. I'm wondering, is there like a moment or like a classic thing that you feel like really like sticks out for you or even somebody that you just like connect with the most? I love Durinda. I think Durinda is my favorite. it. But I did love when the wasn't there a moment? This was like I, so I started watching that late, but then I went back and rewatched from the beginning some. And my favorite is when she's clomping up the stairs and she's like, Frankenstein or something. What did she say? She's like,
Starting point is 00:28:13 I think, I think it's in Morocco and she asked if there's a buffalo coming down the stairs. Thank you. Thank you. It's a buffalo. And it's countess, right? Like she's like, who's coming? Oh my gosh, that was, that was amazing. You came in in your Herman Munster shoes. Oh. The drags, the way they drag each other, like your cheap leather pants in Beverly Hills. And I mean, they're just such good comebacks.
Starting point is 00:28:43 Yeah, it's, I think some of them might have writers a little bit helping them out. They must. They must, right? Maybe, you know, maybe once, when you have some free time in your, schedule. You can get a gig, you know. Fingers crossed. Fingers crossed. Oh, my God. I mean, there are so many people in this
Starting point is 00:29:01 kind of pregnant that have that sketch comedy background. I mean, obviously, Amy, you know, had her own show for many seasons and Adam Sandler is a producer and there's, you know, a couple of the SNL guys that are in the cast, too. Like, how fun is it for you when you get to sort of like just play in a group like that where you have that shared background? You know, I would say initially I'd be, I've be so intimidated because like I I love Amy she's such an icon she's so funny like she's funny all the time she is who you see you know and and and then will forte to me is like he
Starting point is 00:29:39 I went through the groundlings and so did he and he's just such a legend and his sketches on S&L are some of my favorite like he he's just so brilliant and he does things in a way that no one else does. So to get around that, I was pretty nervous, but I knew from hearing from other people that they were pretty sweet people. And so once I got to know them, I was like, okay, we're all on the same page. We all want to make something funny and we're going to keep it light and it's going to be playful. So it made it a lot easier. But I actually wrote for S&L for a year and I was there when Will Forte was there. So we had known each other a little bit. And I put him in a very crazy sketch at SNL that only made it to dress, but Kristen Wigg and I had wrote this sketch that was
Starting point is 00:30:31 so crazy that he was in playing a, it was a sketch about grief counselors. There's like he, he's basically the boss that's like giving a company meeting and, you know, I would say a third of the seats are empty. And he's like, now I know half, you know, a third of the company died after the salmonella poisoning at the company barbecue or whatever. And he's like, so I thought it would be nice to call in some grief counselors to help rally us and get us in a better place. But it's just Kristen Wigg and Charles Barkley walking and going, come on.
Starting point is 00:31:11 Come on. And just like trying to get everyone to get up and dance with them and have a good time. And it's like they've just lost all of their employees, like their friendships. And so I always think of Will in that sketch and just everyone broke during that sketch because it was failing so badly. Like every no one in the audience was laughing. So every person in the scene was just breaking. So that one might not be making it to like the SNL 50 montage. No, I don't think so.
Starting point is 00:31:39 I don't think so. God, that's, I mean, just like thinking back to that era, it is crazy how many people, that touched that show around that time have just gone on to do, I mean, such amazing things. Like, even for you saying that you only were on the show writing for one season, like, it just has such a, such an imprint on kind of the entire industry in such a crazy way. Absolutely. It was my number one goal when I was a kid. Like, that was it. I wanted to work for Saturday Night Live. I told my parents when I was younger, we can never go on vacation to New York because I want
Starting point is 00:32:12 my first time that I go to be auditioning for S&L. and that's how it happened. So like, you know, dreams come true for little girls sometimes. I didn't, you know, get to be in the cast, but I was just so excited to be able to be included in that group of tremendously amazing, funny, brilliant writers and get to just be there for a year and figure out my voice more in, like, how to write for different people. You know, I was so used at groundlings, you're kind of figuring out how to write for yourself and, like, your talents, your strengths.
Starting point is 00:32:53 And it's so important to be able to write for other people's talents and strengths. So I was sort of like, oh, this is the best training I could possibly get to be a writer in general. And it really helped me. Yeah, it's like every week you just got to throw something out. And sometimes it's going to be a hit. And sometimes it's going to be brief counselors. Sometimes it's going to be grief counselors. Look, I would like to see if there's, if somebody's got footage of that somewhere, it's, it's on a hard drive.
Starting point is 00:33:23 I don't know. I actually took the DVD of it. So after every sketch, they make a DVD of it so that you can rewatch it on your own time and like, oh, this joke didn't, I can hear the audience. This joke didn't hit as well. I'm going to rewrite it. And I was like, that bombed. I'm just going to take it so that I have it for my life, so I still have it. I love that.
Starting point is 00:33:42 I mean, it's just crazy experiences. man, when you look back over, you know, 15 plus years, there's so much, so much to kind of pull from. I know. I know. Did you grow up watching it? I did. Yeah. I feel like kind of those 2000s were really like so formative. I mean, you know, Kristen and Will were definitely part of that. And when like Fred Armisen was doing Obama, I remember, was like crazy. Like just, man, so many. I mean, it's always been there. So I know you're from Las Vegas and I'm curious people float around Las Vegas sometimes as being a place that would they do a Real Housewives of Las Vegas? And I'm wondering from a from a Las Vegas native,
Starting point is 00:34:24 what would your take on that be? Because I know Las Vegas has this kind of stereotype and I'm sure being from there, maybe some of that's true, but I'm sure there's a lot of other stuff going on. It's both, you know? There's a stereotype for sure. And that's the thing. I actually think Real Housewives of Las Vegas. I cannot. believe that has not been done. There's so much there. And, you know, the strip is so exciting and fun. And there's definitely big parts of it that are not the strip. I mean, Vegas is huge. I'm from Henderson and grew up in kind of like a normal area. But like, it's still 12 minutes away is the strip. So, and I went to like, I used to go to the Flamingo Hotel every weekend when I was a senior
Starting point is 00:35:10 in high school to just watch Second City performed there. And Jason Sedakas was one of the people that performed in that show. So getting to watch him do sketch and all the other cast members, like it really, you know, I had already had such a, such a crush on SNL that, you know, that was always the goal, like I said, but I feel like that seeing it live and in person was just like, this is all I want to do. Yeah. You know who has a restaurant at the Flamingo now? At least Svanderpump. She does? Yes. I was in Vegas in December for the grand opening of Pinkies at the Flamingo by Lisa Van der Prankies. How is Pinkies?
Starting point is 00:35:56 I mean, it's great. It's beautiful. It kind of looks like the Emerald City inside. You know, there's there's a lot to look at. Let's just say. Wait, so it's very green and it's called Pinkies? It's like it's like a pink and green, you know, like a little bit of like copper. Rose gold maybe. We're having a real wicked moment. I think everybody's having a real wicked moment. I don't know. Lisa's only human. Oh my gosh.
Starting point is 00:36:18 Amazing. Amazing. Well, this movie is coming out. What are you kind of most excited, I guess, before we wrap up? What are you most excited for people to see an experience and sort of react to with this movie? I mean, I really feel like, you know, I know a lot of people say this, but I do think right now people need to laugh. It's a, it's a tough time right now. And I feel like it's nice to just get with your partner or your girlfriends and just have a movie night and just truly get to laugh very hard.
Starting point is 00:36:52 And there's also really special vulnerable moments in this too. And I feel like, you know, without, there's like comedy and heart and without like the heart, you, you know, you don't care about anyone and without the comedy, you're like, I need some levity. So I feel like those are my favorite types of movies. And I feel like this is exactly, exactly what people need right now. I agree. So everybody watch kind of pregnant and then catch up on housewives after. Yes. Thanks so much, Jillian. This is fun. Thank you so much. I appreciate it. It was a blast.
