Episode Date: June 26, 2026

Another hot summer week is in the books, and Dylan has spent it starting a rewatch of Real Housewives of Atlanta. He shares some favorite moments from season 1, along with a road trip down memory lane... from season 4. Then, he unpacks the unfortunate news that Ladies of London is on pause… again. Starting point is 00:00:00 This episode of Mentioned-All Island Time is brought to you by Shake Shack. Back for another season, the Dubai Chocolate Pistachio Shake is making its return and not keeping a low profile. This fan favorite combines real pistachio, frozen custard, crispy, toasted katoifi, and a crackable dark chocolate shell for a treat that is indulgent and a little addictive. Smooth, crunchy, and hard to resist. It might just have you switching up your go-to order. Don't overthink the Shake-Shack Dubai Chocolate Pistachio Shake. This one's worth getting to know.
Starting point is 00:00:26 order on the app online or at your nearest ShakeShack before they're gone. Hey everyone, welcome back to the Mentioned at All podcast and another Friday. We have made it. We're barreling through the summer. The Fourth of July is next week. Makes me on a hot dog real bad once or twice a year, a good hot dog. We have a lot to get into this week. So I'm not going to waste any time.
Starting point is 00:00:53 First of all, I want to talk about what is going on the Mention It All feed and the Bravo by Metsch's YouTube channel wherever you're watching or listening. you know, we are currently talking about Love Island, USA, me and Chris Burns every Thursday, unmentioned at all, Island Time. So those episodes are dropping in the same feed. Make sure you're subscribed. Go back, catch up. We're like 19, 20 episodes into the season. Casa Amour has been Kasa Amoring this week. Lots to talk about. I've really been enjoying doing that with Chris every week. So make sure you're tuning into that. Earlier this week on the podcast, we had the woman, the mother, the icon herself, Cynthia Bailey. She was in the studio. She was lovely. She was
Starting point is 00:01:34 statu-esque, as always. Make sure you go watch, listen to that. If you're liking Atlanta this season, it was great to talk to Cynthia about the friend role, about some iconic Atlanta moments that she has witnessed and lived through and helped create. Truly like somebody that I was really excited to finally get the chance to sit down and chat with. And next week, we are, we're now in season for NextGen NYC, and we are kicking it off with GioJU Dice. She stopped by and we talked about all things next gen, also a little bit of New Jersey nostalgia. So excited for you guys to hear and watch that one. So make sure, again, you're subscribed. So you don't miss anything and lots coming up. But what a week it's been? Now, I this week have embarked on a really
Starting point is 00:02:23 special journey for myself. I have had a hankering of late to rewatch the Real Housewives of Atlanta from the beginning. And now this is something where, obviously, I spend a lot of my time watching Bravo. I have watched pretty much every episode of everything. But because I'm so in the now, and because I'm watching 56 episodes of Love Island every week, I don't tend to spend a lot of time going back into the archive. You know, I'll go and find a specific moment or watch a, you know, a random episode when I feel like it. But it has been a, a long time since I have like really sat down and binged a classic Bravo show. And for whatever reason, I don't know if I'll make it all the way through Atlanta, but I started on season one
Starting point is 00:03:11 earlier this week and I am already finished with season one, which is short, by the way, you know, I'm being responsible. I'm getting my work done. But man, those women just had it from day one. This week, I'm taking a road trip down memory lane with Ford Explorer to relive the funniest Shadiest group trip, the ladies of Atlanta have ever taken. Boy, I have been in an Atlanta groove lately, and I had so much fun revisiting their season four trip to South Africa. Now, this trip, I feel like it was one of the first really epic housewives trips where they're going to a different continent. They're having all of these different experiences. They're really just living it up, doing things that you wouldn't do on your normal girls trip.
Starting point is 00:03:56 And it was so fun to relive. recommend anybody go back and watch it, but to set the scene a little bit, everybody makes it to South Africa, except for Kim. Kim does not take herself on this trip. And to be honest, thank you, Kim. Because I feel like when you're taking a road trip, when you're going on a trip with your girls, you don't want the person to come who's going to be bringing down the energy. And you don't always want to say that. But sometimes that person just takes themselves out of the running. And it's for the best. But they do so many cool activities on this trip to South Africa. they're staying in Cape Town at this like beautiful high rise.
Starting point is 00:04:30 I want to stay there. The first night they have this sunset boat cruise where they're out on the water and there's, you know, the mountains in the background and they're having their lovely evening. And the next day they're going on safari and they're touring a cultural center. There's just like truly so many activities happening. And I feel like sometimes on the Housewives trip, they're in these like incredible cultural places in the world and all they're doing is like fighting and shopping. And I love that the South Africa trip, of course they're also fighting. But in the meantime, they're also experiencing a lot of
Starting point is 00:05:06 culture, like watching them transition from the first night that they're there after that lovely sunset boat cruise that I would very much like to go on. They're back in their, you know, apartment, villa suite, whatever, where they're staying. And that's when Shire and Marl get into their massive fight, which, by the way, I had to be reminded. that fight takes place because Shiree knew somebody who was having a party in Cape Town that night, but she only invited a couple of the women to go with her,
Starting point is 00:05:36 Marlowe not being one of them, and Marlowe didn't want to go to dinner at Nobu, which I'm like, go to dinner at Nobu. Nobu's the best. But anyway, they have that massive fight. That's the first night of the trip. And then the next morning, they have to wake up at like 7 a.m.
Starting point is 00:05:52 To get in the van to go on their safari. And these women look worse for wear, but they turn it out and they end up having so much fun. They're seeing rhinos and zebras and gazelles. And I feel like that's, you never know when you're on a trip. Sometimes the day where you don't want to get out of bed, the day where you wake up and you're like, man, why did we book this excursion so early? Those are the days where you wake up and then you have the most fun. You have to just let the trip happen. You have to enjoy the ride.
Starting point is 00:06:23 and this South Africa trip, man, we've had a lot of great Housewives trips over the years and I definitely want to revisit some of the other iconic ones. But there's something about this where it just feels like the perfect moment in time that cast was so iconic. Nini was there. Nini was kind of complaining the whole time. Like, I've got to be honest.
Starting point is 00:06:40 Nini, for whatever reason, was not feeling the South Africa trip. Well, Fadro was really wanting to educate a lot of the women about, you know, Africa. And, you know, Candy is there. and Choray and Marlowe and Cynthia, obviously. It just was like one of the best groups you could imagine. And they really did their big one. They turned it out with that trip. And what a fun time going down memory lane.
Starting point is 00:07:05 Thanks again to Ford Explorer for sponsoring this episode. No matter where you're headed this summer, let the Ford Explorer give you the confidence to get you and your whole crew there in style. Learn more at www.4.4.com slash SUVs slash Explorer. I just started watching season two. and I just watched, Oh, go check me, boo.
Starting point is 00:07:25 And man, it's, it's every episode just has something, even if it's a moment you forgot, even if it's not one of the most kind of iconic pinnacle moments, it is so entertaining. And I have stuck in my head now, the first song that Kim Zulsiak was recording prior to Tarty for the party, when she still wanted to be a country singer,
Starting point is 00:07:49 and there's this demo of this song, tightrope and she's in the studio with Dallas Austin and this song it's like ding ding ding ding ding ding there's a tight rope between me and you and I don't know what I'm going to do it got you you and of course Kim's not hitting a damn note if I don't know how I sound I'm a little a little touchy in the throat right now so maybe not my best either but man, Kim couldn't sing at all. And it is so entertaining to watch these women either call her out for it or just go along with it. Shiree, when they're playing the song in the car, and Kim has the cigarette and the solo cup of, uh, I think white wine. And Shiree's like, you know, she'll,
Starting point is 00:08:44 look at that voice, all that beauty and, and talent inside. Uh, just gassing her up for no good reason. man, Real Housewives of Atlanta, they've always had the sauce, and they still do. I mean, this season is great. And this week, we also got the trailer for Real Housewives' Ultimate Girls' Trip Roaring 20th. And we are seeing some of our iconic ladies back in action, namely Nini Leaks is going to be on this show. I was a little, I don't know if I was skeptical when they announced this or if I just was kind of like, we'll see, we'll see how it goes. But seeing the trailer that they put together where, you know, they're going through the years of when all of the franchises premiered and they're playing some iconic moments.
Starting point is 00:09:32 And it's 82 people, 82 housewives are going to make an appearance on this show. And it's just, that is a crazy number to try and wrap your mind around. 82 people. We know that the Rhode Island cast is going to be. featured when they were in the Berkshires, they went there and we see them kind of getting into it. And Durinda's like, you can take that tin out in the driveway. We know that Nini's making an appearance. I think we see Lisa Wu in the trailer briefly, which, you know, watching season one of
Starting point is 00:10:05 Atlanta, I'm very much like in the Lisa Wu world right now. Alex McCord, you get a glimpse of Camille Grammer is there. Eileen Davidson looks like she's tearing up the dance floor. Just like good times. Candice and Giselle going at it just like old times. I am really, really excited just to like enjoy the vibes, enjoy the ride. Because I think that this is something where like ultimate girls trip, when it was happening before, it was a little bit of a tricky thing because it was like we wanted it to be so iconic and so epic and so, you know,
Starting point is 00:10:44 dramatic and all of this stuff. and I almost think that this format works best when it's just like fun vibes and yeah we want a little bit of drama we want some like arguing and nitpicking and stuff but like I also just want to see like all my girls and that's what I feel like this show is going to be so I'm very excited for it it premieres in August I can't wait to see it and talk about it and who knows maybe even maybe chat with some of the ladies
Starting point is 00:11:11 but speaking of ladies we got some bad news this week And that is that Ladies of London, the new reign, has been put on pause after one season, technically after four seasons of Ladies of London. But, man, I really thought this show was going to be able to do it. Because, look, was this show the biggest rating success? No. Was it a show that was, you know, creating giant cultural moments? probably not. But it was really good
Starting point is 00:11:51 and it was really well appreciated within, I feel like, a certain chunk of the Bravo community. If you look on, you know, threads or Twitter or whatever, people were really enjoying this show. And it had such an interesting cast, such a dynamic group of people.
Starting point is 00:12:11 And especially the fact that it's a new undertaking, a reboot of, this franchise that had been dormant for a long time. I just thought that there would be enough marks in the yes column to get them over the line to a second season, to let it grow a little bit, to let people discover it on peacock or whatever. And I thought that Bravo would give them that chance and it seems like the answer is no. And it just is, it's sad. I feel really bad for most of the women in the cast.
Starting point is 00:12:46 And I just, I wish that we were getting to spend more time with these people because they're so interesting and so entertaining. And I loved being inside that world. So there are a couple potential explanations, I think, for this. And the first is just that
Starting point is 00:13:01 the ratings weren't great. It wasn't a high enough priority. Choices have to be made. We have to make room for, you know, Jeff Lewis's, you know, new spin-off that's going to be the best thing that's ever been on Bravo. I'm sure. You know, tough choices always have to be made.
Starting point is 00:13:17 Rhode Island was great. They're getting a second season. But there are a couple things that are a little bit more like tinfoil hat vibes that I want to just touch on a little bit. Who knows? So there is a rumor going around. And as much as I love to cite a source, guys, I saw this on TikTok. I don't know if it's true.
Starting point is 00:13:38 I don't know if it's real. But I have heard someone say on TikTok. I know, that there has been some sort of legal action from Margo and her husband toward the network, toward production, whatever, because they don't like the way that they were portrayed on the show. And specifically, if you recall, if you watched, toward the end of the season, there's, you know, insinuations and accusations being made that Margo's like low-key homophobic and the way that she's talking to Mark is really not great. and I could easily see, again, I don't know if this is true, I don't know if it's, you know,
Starting point is 00:14:19 maybe this couldn't be further from the truth, but I could see somebody in Margot's position saying, fuck that. I went on this show because I thought it was going to get me more acting gigs in soft porno films in the, in Cann. And it's done the exact opposite. Now people think I'm homophobic. And nobody in the soft porn art film industry wants to work with somebody who was, alleged to be a homophob on a Bravo show. It's a tough gig. So I don't know if that's happening,
Starting point is 00:14:51 but maybe that could complicate things for a second season. But the other interesting development is that apparently the Real Housewives of London, which, if you recall, premiered last year as a HAU original and has not until now
Starting point is 00:15:06 been available to watch legally in the United States, that that may be premiered premiering finally on Peacock and or Bravo like next month later this summer. And so my thought there is that if Bravo's looking at the landscape and specifically looking at the British landscape, if they're saying, okay, there are these two shows, one of which is like our homegrown thing, one of which is somebody else's thing that maybe we could have access to. And they're both kind of maybe they're equal in terms of ratings, potential, whatever.
Starting point is 00:15:46 Maybe Housewives of London is a little greater because it has that branding. I could see a world where the Bravo powers that be are looking at that and saying, how much is it going to cost us to put real Housewives on Peacock? Just do that. And then if they do more seasons, we'll just stream that. And people have their, you know, rich gals in London bickering show. and we don't have to pay for another season of a show that was a little
Starting point is 00:16:13 underwhelming in the ratings. So again, I don't, I don't know if that's the strategy, but I do think it's plausible that they could just be looking at all the chess pieces and the finances and saying, let's just kind of lean into Real Housewives because we know that works for us
Starting point is 00:16:29 and get the American audience on board with, you know, Juliette Angus and Amanda arguing about Paddington. Because it is, I mean, real House is a lot of, London was well received. So we'll see about that. But man, I'm just, I'm bummed for for our ladies of London gals and especially Lady Martha, because did you guys see Hacchity died? The bird, the bird drowned. And she's crying on Instagram about it. The same week that the show got put on,
Starting point is 00:17:01 I mean, obviously a beloved pet dying is not comparable to a show being put on paws, but she can't catch a break she just man that woman has been through more than more than Jesus Christ was tough times tough times but but as one thing leaves as one bombshell leaves the villa another enters and let's talk about next gen NYC season two so next gen is back our our little 20-something sims are back in the city mostly Riley's not there yet I'm like girl, plan the trip so you can be home for the first episode. The Riley World Tour had nine months when you weren't filming. I don't know, but I am excited for this show to be back because this was, if you'll recall,
Starting point is 00:17:52 and I think a lot of people were on the same page, season one of this show was a pleasant surprise because this was something that had been rumored for a long time and then once it was announced, the whole idea of there being this Housewives' Kids show that was like, like other influencers, nepo babies, rich kids, whatever. It just was like, really? And, you know, season one, it was not that it was the best show ever or that it totally, like, lit my world on fire. But it's a show that was just, like, pretty good and pretty entertaining. And I feel like I'm going to talk a little bit about in the city later because I was a couple weeks behind.
Starting point is 00:18:38 and I caught up. And I think that in the city and next gen to me, both fall into a similar category where, I mean, they're also about, you know, people in New York. So they're not like, it's not crazy to say that they're in a similar category. But more in terms of viewing experience, I feel like they're both coming across to me as shows where obviously there are certain people that I have a stronger connection to in terms of how long I've known them, how much I know of their history and also just like how much I give a shit about them. But also both shows kind of feel like good shows to put on while you're like making dinner. Or like, oh, I have to like go put away my laundry and I can't quite see the TV but like I can hear it and that's fine. Or like a show
Starting point is 00:19:31 where you're kind of, you know, finishing up some work or you have like, you know, some, you know, some thing to get to and you're putting on, you're getting your bag together and putting, you know, getting, putting things to, you know, like you're just doing something around the house. And this is a show that is just the right amount of
Starting point is 00:19:52 interesting to have on while you're doing something around the house and you're glad you watched it, but at the same time you don't really have to carve out an hour in your day. This isn't this isn't like a destination show. This is a show for gals on the go. And what's more New York than a show? for gals on the go. And I'm interested how season two of this show will play out because when you
Starting point is 00:20:17 have a new show featuring people who are kind of looking for opportunities, working on their careers, whatever, I do feel like the experience of being the star of a TV show and I use star in whatever, you know, whatever definition applies here. I'm not saying these people are like Angelina Jolie. But could her daughter be on this show? show, Angelina Jolie's daughter and Jaze's daughter should be like on NextGen D.C. Atlanta? No, they went to school in Atlanta. Okay.
Starting point is 00:20:48 Back to NYC. I'm really curious how the dynamics will shift this season now that we have a little bit more history with this group as a group and not just, oh, this is Kim's daughter, this is Meredith's son. I kind of know these people. oh, I sort of know who Damon Dash is and this is his daughter. Turns out, now I've known his daughter for a year and she seems to kind of suck. And I'm excited to keep exploring the things that I know about these people now. And obviously there are some adjustments going into season two. Hudson and Ariana have broken up.
Starting point is 00:21:26 Well, they had. And then, no, we know they're back together now. And I know that this isn't like feasible in the real world. with people that you know about. But I'm like, I wish I didn't know that they were back together because that would make this storyline just like so much more, like have so much more oomph to it. But so they have just recently broken up when the season starts and they, Ariana has moved out. She's living in Brooklyn.
Starting point is 00:21:56 She has a roommate. Oh, the horror. But she, she and Hudson posted this like joint statement on Instagram. stories, I think, God, who would post a joint statement about a relationship situation? I feel like we haven't had that on Bravo. No, but so they've posted this statement. They're breaking up. She's moving out.
Starting point is 00:22:15 And of course, this is going to be a storyline. And specifically, a lot of the people in the cast have, feel like the statement on Instagram was like a bizarre thing for them to do. And specifically, Georgia and Ava, the two like, you know, hater and chiefs of the group are like, oh, that's. It's so weird. Like, why are, who cares? Why are you like, who do you think you are? Like, are you Kate Middleton? Like, oh my God, whenever I have a breakup, I just like go away and like, blah, blah, blah, blah. And like, why would you do that? Nobody cares. You guys are on a reality
Starting point is 00:22:53 show about your lives. What, who do you, why do you think you're getting a check to have the cameras show up and film you? First of all, you guys are all on a show. If, you know, not that I remember, name of um eva's boyfriend what is it like chunk chip hunk hawk it's like a word like that i don't hook it's hook his name was hook guys i was so close chunk was like right right on the line his name is literally hook no but like not i wouldn't care if eva and hook broke up but it would be uh uh somebody would work page six would care they would would say next-gen, NYC star, Ava Dash splits from boyfriend model hook. Hook, so many people would click on that article just because they're like,
Starting point is 00:23:44 this is real name, Hook? And you know what? I don't know. Maybe it's a nickname. But no, and then on top of that, you guys are all on a show. You're all in this world now. As crazy as it might feel, they filmed at BravoCon. You have a panel at BravoCon. People give a fuck. But also, they're ignoring the fact that. Maybe it's a fourth wall thing. I don't know that Ariana and Georgia are not in the same category. Ariana is somebody, I just started watching Atlanta from the beginning. Ariana was on our TVs when she was six years old.
Starting point is 00:24:20 We watched her and Brielle begging their mom to quit smoking in 2008. Ariana has grown up on camera. We have seen her literally from being a small child to now an adult on this show. we have she has you know hundreds of thousands of followers on instagram she is makes a career as an influencer her life is public in a way that i don't think Georgia can relate to and you know what that's okay but it's weird and annoying to me that they're acting like because they don't love Ariana they're acting like they don't understand like how this sort of a economy works, that it's like, no, like, if, if Ariana suddenly is moving out into an apartment
Starting point is 00:25:10 in Brooklyn and people are seeing her there and Hudson's not in the photos anymore, that actually is going to be a story. And to act like it's not almost makes you look like more of a hater because you're, you're pretending that you guys, that you don't understand that she has this platform or this, you know, following or community or whatever. And that kind of leads into this stuff with Ava and Gia because they have beef going into this season, which dates back to a couple different instances. First of all, Ariana and Gia say that they had this like press thing that they were all at I think with people and that Ava came in and basically wasn't giving them the time of day
Starting point is 00:25:56 was being very dismissive and that it felt like an air of, oh, I'm better than you. And then also, Ava has been claiming that Teresa Judice unfollowed her on Instagram. And I'm sorry, you have to be so for real. First of all, do you think that Teresa, and I actually did talk about this with Gia, so I don't want to like get too deep into it, but it's like, do you think that Teresa even knows who this girl is?
Starting point is 00:26:22 If anything, I feel like Melania probably followed her on Teresa's account, and then she like accidentally, I don't know. who cares? My, I, like, your friends have to, your mom has to follow your friends on Instagram. Actually, a couple of my friends' moms do follow me on Instagram. And when they, like, respond to my stories and they're like, you're crushing it. It does make me feel really good. But like, Teresa's, Teresa's not responding to Ava's stories.
Starting point is 00:26:53 They're not even friends. It's weird, weird, weird, weird, weird, weird. And the whole thing with Ava, is I feel like she does think that she's better than them. And it at least comes across that way. And I just think that is a little bit rich because Ava is telling us in this episode that before she was really focused on just modeling,
Starting point is 00:27:17 but now modeling and social media are so hand in hand that you really have to do both. So she really just wants to get to 100,000 followers on TikTok so she can have more of a presence there and, you know, presumably do more brand deals and opportunities and get paid more. Who do you think already has the following that you want so bad? Ding, ding, ding. It's Ariana and Gia.
Starting point is 00:27:41 The two people that you act like stink up the room when you walk in. It actually comes across like Ava wants what they have so bad because she's like, oh, you would think as like Damon Dash's daughter I would have all. And I'm like, no, I don't. I don't think anybody gives a fuck about Damon Dash's daughter. I mean, Damon Dash is famous. We care about Gia and Ariana and, I mean, Briel pops up in this episode. I don't think she was on season one at all.
Starting point is 00:28:10 Chloe Marks is there for God's sake. I care more about her than I do about Damon Dash's daughter. But I think that Ava is either not understanding or willfully misunderstanding the fact that these other kids on the show actually have a real bias. in with an audience because they've watched them on a show that's about their family life, whereas she just has, like, kind of famous parents and is getting evicted from her apartment. Okay. Like, I only know Ava from seven episodes of NextGen NYC and some, you know, auxiliary content.
Starting point is 00:28:48 I know Gia since 2009. It's not comparable. I mean, it's really not. So I think that Ava would do well to sort of adjust her attitude. And I feel like going into season two, we already had the storyline of people being sort of weird about the housewives kids. And clearly after the reception to season one, people watching the show aren't like, why are their housewives kids? In fact, it's kind of the reason we're watching. So it seems to me like maybe Charlie has a warm,
Starting point is 00:29:25 up to the idea a little bit more. Charlie has his own fish to fry. But Charlie, in the first episode, I think, seems like a little bit less of an asshole. He is, this is concerning. He is positioning himself to take Hudson under his wing. And I guess as, as West Wilson might say, to like show him the streets, which is concerning. I don't think that Charlie is the person that you should be like, I don't want to see the world through that lens, because then you're going to end up at, like, a weird crypto dungeon, and somebody's getting arrested, somebody else is, like, getting tortured? I don't know.
Starting point is 00:30:08 Weird vibes. And I want Hudson to be, like, the good guy. I want, it's like on Love Island, whenever there's, like, a Southern person, they always say, like, I want a cowboy. This cow, go get your cowboy. I want Hudson to be the cowboy that Ariana goes and gets. And I want to feel good about that. I don't want to watch a whole season of Hudson making poor choices influenced by Charlie.
Starting point is 00:30:36 And then Ariana goes back to him and I'm like, ugh, they're my, you know, they're my, you know, one true pairing. They've got to make it to the end. But I'm excited for next gen. We'll obviously talk more about it throughout the season. Of course, Georgia's already giving us TMI vibes in the first episode, telling us that she was fighting for her life on the toilet last night after having some bad salami. She never fails to just make me... I just, like, groan while I'm watching her on the show. But her ex is hanging out with Charlie?
Starting point is 00:31:11 Weird vibes. I don't know. I'm excited, though, to have that show back. I also am liking in the city. I was, you know, a little bit unsure while Summerhouse was still playing out. how I was going to feel about in the city, whether the new people were going to start feeling like members of our, you know, fucked up family.
Starting point is 00:31:31 And I gotta say, I think it's, it's starting to, it's starting to work on me. Obviously, I said I put it in that same category of the, like, folding the laundry shows. Because, you know, when it's like, God, what's her name? Georgina. And, like, Yvonne.
Starting point is 00:31:53 I'm a little, you know, it's fine. Andrea's, um, Andrea's wife, Lexi seems really nice. Kenny's girlfriend Whitney seems really nice. You know, I don't have like a ton to say about some of these people yet, which is okay. We're, I think, six or seven episodes in. Well, we'll get there, maybe. Um, but it's not, there's, there's really no part of this show that I'm like, why are we doing this?
Starting point is 00:32:22 And I think that's important because with a show that has this many new people, it can go from like fine to tough to watch. And this show, I think, has been like fine to good. And of course, we still have the sort of like anchor tenant. You know, if you're at the, if you're at the mall and it's like all the little stores and then you have to have the department store, like if the Macy's at the mall closes, suddenly, you know, the little store. Like if the Macy's at the mall closes, suddenly, you know, the little stores, the, the, the, um, the, um, the, the, um, the, the, Anteans pretzels, those stores are going to be in trouble. And right now, the anchor tenant of in the city is Kyle and Amanda's marriage falling apart. And look, I think that store is not going out of business anytime soon because even on this week's episode. So Amanda has, um, changed her.
Starting point is 00:33:15 plans without Kyle's, you know, knowledge approval, whatever, to now sign a year-long lease at an unfurnished apartment and just kind of move out indefinitely. And she has hired a moving crew and the moving crew has taken her stuff minus about 500 individual items of clothing that are still strewn around the entire apartment, including on the bed, which is like, on the bed? Man, this is not the size. Summer House. Get your, get your shit together. But it is, it is crazy to watch because Kyle, the whole time, the whole time, for like two years, has been talking about how Amanda is like so messy, so clutter, so lazy. She just like gets high and doesn't fold her clothes,
Starting point is 00:34:04 which like, who can relate? But like for one night. Like you have, you have clean laundry, you get high and don't fold the clothes on like Thursday. day night and then by like by Sunday at least you gotta have the laundry put away you have like a 72 hour buffer and that's generous I think but so Amanda has left it kind of open ended that she's leaving for a year I guess and you know they were talking last week about what this was going to look like for them and she says she still wants to go to therapy and she's imagining that they're going to be over at each other's places like two times a week but she has has hired a moving crew and still just left all this random crap.
Starting point is 00:34:49 And so Kyle is looking around being like, what am I supposed to do here? Because you're telling me you need to go. So you're not living here currently, but you've left all of this, you know, detritus. And so, you know, if I were Kyle in that position, it's like, is it like wrong of me to be like putting your stuff away, like, obviously, I wouldn't want to be, like, throwing away your clothes, but, like, am, is it passive aggressive if I'm, like, putting them in a box somewhere? Like, it's just, it's a very inconsiderate situation to me. Because Amanda's saying, oh, well, I don't have space for everything. It's like, okay, then can you, like, get a storage unit? Can you at least, like,
Starting point is 00:35:38 put it back in the drawer? Like, that's the thing is, like, I think Amanda is, I understand why she is sort of in like fight or flight mode with some of this stuff. He's staying out late. He's bringing people home. It's not a great situation. But at the same time, I think that she,
Starting point is 00:35:56 it feels like she's almost like milking the reality of the situation to really just do whatever she wants. And I think that in this case, it's like, Kyle didn't have a say in this separation situation. but if you're saying I'm going to leave for the year, I think it's fair for him to want a bed that doesn't have your dirty clothes lying all over it. Call me crazy.
Starting point is 00:36:26 Maybe I'm a neat freak. I don't know. Maybe that's too strict. I just, man, I can't imagine living like that. I'm like, you have money.
Starting point is 00:36:38 Like, it's not like, oh, we're, you know, we can't get our shit together. It's like, pay it,
Starting point is 00:36:43 pay it. cleaning service. I mean, Amanda doesn't really seem to care that Kyle is in debt with lover boy. Just hire a cleaner. And I mean, Kyle does have organizers coming, I guess. But the other thing that's been, the person that I feel like is kind of the standout from in the city so far that we didn't already know is Kenny, because he is, he's got a lot going on. Now, early in the season, I don't know where we are in the season. At the beginning of the season, he was having some buff with Lindsay, and I thought that was interesting. He was saying that she was giving like man hater, and they were kind of getting into it. I wasn't necessarily like Team Kenny, but I was like, okay, this is,
Starting point is 00:37:29 this is something to look at, and it's not Summerhouse related, which I think is important for us to be standing on our own two feet here in the city. And then now there have been a couple other things happening with him that I'm low-key invested in. First of all, he has this girlfriend Whitney, who is, seems lovely. But like, you know, she's not making the biggest, splashiest impression. And she has just moved to New York to be with him, doesn't know hardly a soul in the city. And he has been talking to the other guys in the group about whether they have enough of a spark or if, you know, what they're, he doesn't know if it's, you know, long term, whatever. And this gets back to Whitney.
Starting point is 00:38:13 She's, of course, really upset. And he's upset at Andrea and Kyle for talking about it. And he's claiming things we're taking out of context or whatever. And I mean, this is, like, fascinating to watch because it does feel like you're sort of, you're putting this relationship under a microscope. And even if these are people that were sort of just meeting and getting to know, I'm like, damn, this could be good. Like, she just moved here from Minnesota, Wisconsin, somewhere over there.
Starting point is 00:38:40 and you're, you're questioning out loud if you have enough of a spark? Like, were you not, like, what was happening when she lived far away? Were you, like, sexting? Phone sex? FaceTime? Like, what was the, how'd you get her there? Like, what was the, what was the impetus? I don't know. But then what's really fascinating is that Kenny is like besties with this guy, Gavin, that he shares clothes with. I don't know. But, Gavin, when he hears this, he's like, oh, yeah, no, I'm sure it was, like, blown out of proportion. And when Kenny is like, well, you know, like, when I said the thing about the spark, it was taken out of context. And Gavin, like, stops in his tracks.
Starting point is 00:39:24 And he's like, wait, so you did say the thing about the spark. He's like, yeah. And Gavin takes this like a dog with the bone. And he says, wait, now that I know that you said it, I think there is something there. And I think that maybe Whitney's too boring for you. He says it to her face. It's just the three. He says it right in front.
Starting point is 00:39:46 This is crazy to me. Because it's like to have two guys who have known each other forever are like best friends, business partners maybe. The whole like Garrett East thing. I'm like, what's going on? To have two people that are that close. And Gavin is feeling comfortable enough to be questioning now the strength of their relationship and specifically whether Whitney is too boring for him right in front of her.
Starting point is 00:40:16 That is, that is, that is, ballsy. That is bold. And I, you know, we've seen it unfolding over a couple episodes now. And I'm just like, where do we, where do we go from here? Because if I were Whitney, I'd be like, I'd be like calling up my friends back in Minnesota, I mean, like, hey, any, have you heard of any apartments open just in case? I feel like I might be like kicked out of here in three weeks if he listens to Gavin and decides I'm too boring. I don't know.
Starting point is 00:40:47 It's a interesting situation. But then also on the complete 180, we watch that Kenny is finding out who his father is and connecting with him for the first time. And man, the phone call that they have genuinely made me emotional. And I felt like Whitney was such a supportive partner in that process. And he's telling, you know, they're on the phone for the first time. And Kenny's telling his father that he is, you know, hoping to meet for the first time that he's in love. And his father is like, I have to meet this woman that's, you know, making you so happy. It's a really, really interesting two sides of the coin.
Starting point is 00:41:31 And so, you know, Kenny, I don't, he's not necessarily like my favorite person on the show, but he's definitely of all of the new people, the one that I am the most intrigued by, has the most going on. And I think that he is like a great reality TV character. And so I'm excited to see where that goes. Okay, let's talk about part one of the Rhode Island reunion. This is like our, you know, a dessert at the end of the meal.
Starting point is 00:42:03 Now, this is a two-part reunion. First season, you only get two. Remember back in the day you only got one, if that? Um, no, but all the women are, they've clocked in for their reunion. And, um, some have clocked in looking like their photo on their employee ID. And some in the case of Rula have clocked in looking like a whole different person. Because, oh my God. You guys.
Starting point is 00:42:28 Now, you know, I don't, I don't love getting into people's appearances and, you know, medical decisions. we got to do something about these noses. I mean, was Jennifer Aden not cautionary tale enough? Was Rachel Fuda not the first, you know, don't do it? If you're going into, and I've never had a nose job. I've never, you know, spoken to a plastic surgeon doing a rhinoplasty. If your doctor is showing you anything in a shape that gives kind of like Nike swoosh
Starting point is 00:43:08 or like Dutch clog that gets a little pointy at the end, get the hell out of that office. If you don't get your, you know, consultation deposit back, it's okay, it will work out in the long run. Don't get that fucking nose job. There are way better nose jobs you could get, or just, or none, but to each their own. Rule of baby, what are we doing?
Starting point is 00:43:38 And along with the new nose, Rula has come into this reunion with an attitude that also feels judged, let's say, because the whole hour of part one, she just feels like she is like, can't even sit still in her seat because she's so excited to just drag the fuck out of Joe Allen. And while I love to see a reunion with active participants, Summerhouse, you know, I like that everybody has shown up. You know, Ashley I is, you know, ready to cry again if she has to. She will cry. She's like, that's like her. She walks into the bank.
Starting point is 00:44:23 She walks into the bank with a bank robbery. She's like, I will cry. Everybody down. No, but everybody, everybody's like participating. Alicia's offering great commentary. whenever something's happening that she doesn't understand. You know, Rosie and Kelsey are going at it. But Rula's energy is just a little much.
Starting point is 00:44:49 And she just, it feels like she has been sitting in her house because we know she doesn't leave the house normally. Remote workers, hybrid schedules. I'm in favor, mostly. But it feels like she has spent a year. year locked in the house and just like is like a rabid dog with jo ellen and i i don't think it's working for her because joelan is so composed and to me joelan is somebody where you can tell that she's like yelled at a lot of bitches in her life because she's somebody where to me like she can
Starting point is 00:45:28 level up the intensity without leveling without feeling like she's getting out of control And I think that she can deliver her point really well. Every time when Rula like, we'll just make some comment out the side of her mouth at her. And she's just saying, you were in three episodes. Who are you? Why are you still here? You were in no episodes. Your husband's a slut.
Starting point is 00:45:57 And she's just like, that's all. I said what I meant to say. It's done. Whereas I feel like Rula is over there like, Oh, hi, what do I say? How do I get Joe Ellen, this evil whore? What do I do? Feels like Rula's going to, like, explode.
Starting point is 00:46:14 And Joe Ellen's just going to like, she's like a sports car. She can be going 200 miles an hour, and that's exactly the right speed. The other, one of my, one of the best moments of the first part of the reunion. There's a lot of Kelsey and Rosie. You know, Ashley, I love that Ashley is like, you know, when, um, She's like the influencer etiquette consultant. You know, like on, like the Today Show or whatever, when they're talking about a big, like, trial, they'll bring in the, like, legal analyst where it's like, okay, now can you tell us, like,
Starting point is 00:46:48 exactly what the jury will be looking for? Andy asks Ashley to weigh in on the posting etiquette for Kelsey giving Rosie a haircut. And Ashley's like, no, you know, if, it would be, you know, it would be, you know, it would be a, you know, a nice gesture to post. But if it's not specified in the terms of the, whatever, and of course, if she was paid for the service, then that render, it's like, we all acknowledge that Ashley just, like, knows her peas and cues when it comes to the branded posts, which she did a branded post for some lotion that she filmed on the set of the reunion. Like, I guess when they were taking a break or something, she's like, her legs in the dress, she's like lotioning up on the
Starting point is 00:47:32 reunion couch. I'm like, baby, get the bag. that is one thing. Maybe Ashley didn't have quite enough drama this season. Maybe she cried a little too much. She is going to get the fucking bag. And, you know, whether Audrey's is making enough funny or not, Ashley's going to make sure there's food on the table. And I respect the hell out of that.
Starting point is 00:47:52 She is a hustler. And I don't think we give her enough credit. A businesswoman, an entrepreneur. But back to Kelsey and Rosie. So, they're talking about, you know, slam pig, all of this, and the whole, like, adjudication of, what is a slam pig? Do you think I'm a slam pig? Do you think she's a slam pig? Sally the slam pig? It's like, I love when Andy is like pretending that this is deadly serious. It's like, now, now Rosie, do you think Kelsey fits the definition of a slam pig? And it's like, I love that Alicia's just kind of like something to say. Because it is. And it's just like, we're just saying shit at a certain point.
Starting point is 00:48:36 But when Kelsey asks Rosie, do you think I suck dick for a career? And Rosie goes, well, I mean, for the last 10 years, your only coworker was down in Florida. So, like, I kind of do. Rosie is, like, really good at this. And she's like, she's like, no, yeah, I meant what I said. I thought through that. Yeah. I mean, kind of. Everything was paid for. And what did you do? And when, and Kelsey, like, is, you know, she's like, what do I say? What do I say? What do I say? What do I say? And she goes, well, do you suck your husband's dick? And Rosie's just like, not really. It's not my thing.
Starting point is 00:49:20 And she's like, well, let me know when you need a divorce lawyer. I think that Rosie and Rich are going to be together forever. And, you know, do I have like a reason for thinking that? No. Except that I just, I just feel like Rosie's the kind of person. And I, when I say the word crazy, I mean, it is a compliment. You don't marry Rosie without knowing that she's crazy. And so I think that Rich knows full well what he was getting into with, with this one. And I think that like, he probably just kind of like, he's like, ugh, my wife, I love that. I love that crazy girl. She's mine. And I, I love their love. there's a lot i mean joe allen and gary i love their love she's like answering the questions about you know jen left lusting after her husband and she's like yeah whatever it's it's funny to us and i believe her
Starting point is 00:50:15 joelan and gary they're going to be together forever watch we're going to play this back in in two years and it's going to be like divorced beheaded died sixth the musical if anybody's um catching that one um but no it's um it's a it's a fun reunion there's a lot of going on. It's only two parts that we got to like pack it in. But Rula also, so there's all of the Joelle and stuff, but then she's also really going to great lengths to insinuate that she knows, she knows something about Liz's marriage. And specifically that she has heard basically directly from Liz that about some story of infidelity. And I don't know why Rula thinks that this is like, A, her thing to share, or B, why it's going to, like, help her out here.
Starting point is 00:51:07 Because the thing to me is that, like, Liz and Jerry, I kind of assume that there's stuff about their relationship that we don't know. Like, I'm not getting a vibe from them that they just have a completely normal life for the last 25 years and that there's no kind of secrets or skeletons or whatever. And obviously, the longer you stay on a show like this, the more stuff is going to kind of pop up to the surface. but Rula is saying that she knows that Liz cheated on Jerry, it's like, okay. Okay.
Starting point is 00:51:40 Like I just am not like, this reveal. Oh my God, you guys, this reveal. Infidelity rumor. Okay. So Liz, Liz kind of is open that she says when she and Jerry were separated at one point, there was this guy that she had like one night. with. It happened one time. She made out with a hot dog one time. And that the next day, Jerry got a phone call from Rula and Brian about this happening. And Rula's like, this didn't
Starting point is 00:52:16 happen. We never called. Blah, blah, blah, blah, blah. And she goes, she was, you really want to, you want to prove it? Okay, subpoena the phone records. And I love that. She says this thinking it's going be like, uh, got her. And everybody's just like, subpoena. What are you talking about? Liz is like, I don't give a shit about this. Why would I subpoena the phone record? You brought this up.
Starting point is 00:52:38 And he's like, subpoena. Huh? Rula just thinks that she thinks that she has like the checkmate move on everyone just at the touch of her fingers. And it's just like, I think her strategy is off. I don't think she's that good at this. I think she's entertaining. I'm glad that she's showing up and participating. But it's just, it's weird.
Starting point is 00:53:05 And then of course we get that this clip was released prior to the reunion, but it just makes me laugh so much when they're in the break. And, um, religiously says, and a, he goes to Roland. She goes,
Starting point is 00:53:17 I have Brian's surgery schedule from the date. The video is taken. And Liz is sucking on the vase. while the cameras aren't rolling. And Joelle and Rula get into it again. But I just love, first of all, another stupid receipt nobody wants to see. But the way that Rula calls for Andy,
Starting point is 00:53:38 it is the least energy. You could, it's like, okay, I got to bring my voice down as little as possible. Andy. Andy. Andy. I know that Andy is tired. these ladies already, but we have, we have another part of the reunion to get to. And, um,
Starting point is 00:53:59 you know, Joe Allen's a slut, realist husband is a slut. But we have a whole other part of this Rhode Island reunion to get to next week. And of course, lots more coming down the pipeline. So make sure you rate, review, subscribe so you don't miss a thing. Love Island, Gia, Cynthia. Everybody's coming. Everybody, have a great weekend.
