Happy Friday
Happy Friday the 13th
I noticed the last
the last time we had a Friday the 13th was March 13th, 2020.
So I don't think this could be worse.
That's really bad because I believe like March 11th or March 12th is like when shit hit the fan.
Yeah.
I think our first day, our our first day of working at home working from home was March 11th because it was Wednesday.
It was the week before our office closed March 2nd.
I will never forget that.
No, no, no, no, it was March 11th.
Well, I stopped March 2nd.
Darry was like, I'm out.
Yeah, March 13th might have been like the last day I went to a bar.
I think I was like, oh, it's like just in my neighborhood.
It's not that crowded.
It definitely is easier to measure it like that.
When was the last time I was at a bar?
Okay, it was for this game.
It was, yeah, I remember that.
I went on a date the night before.
It was like, you know, no big deal.
Before we get into our Bravo talk for today.
day. Don't forget, we still have going on our shop betches sample sale up to 75% off,
tons of good shit, including Bravo stuff. Don't forget to check it out. It goes until the end of
the day today, Friday the 13th. So check it out, shop dot betches.com. All right. Thank you, Dylan.
So today we are talking about real houses of Orange County and Southern Charm. Now, Dylan and I were
talking and we are, I'm not so surprised, but we are surprised at how nicely Southern Charm is
really pulling us in. I'm pleasantly surprised. I thought with, with all of the casting changes
that happened for this season, I was not sure how that was going to go. And then on top of it,
you know their season was interrupted by COVID and there were, you know, some questionable
things happening with Catherine's behavior online and stuff.
You know, it just, it was a season that I think had kind of a, it didn't have a lot of buzz around it.
People, I think, didn't have super high hopes.
And three episodes in, I got to say, I'm pleasantly surprised.
They're sucking me back in.
I really just feel that it is a different dynamic.
Like, of course, they're still talking about people who are not on the show.
But I'm okay with that right now.
I'm okay.
I think, yeah, I mean, a little bit.
I think this, the first episode was like very cam heavy.
And they've sort of weaned off of that.
Like this week it felt like we weren't really concerned with people that weren't there,
which was as nice as it should be.
Right.
Let's just keep talking about Southern Charm and then we can get to OC after.
So we had this episode.
There's a lot going on.
There have always been a lot of people on Southern Charms.
So there is like plenty, plenty to get through.
So we have this scene with Shep and Danny at the dog park.
First of all, Craig the dog is so fucking cute.
Their relationship, Craig, the dog and Shep's relationship is so funny.
Like he really, not that anyone does it.
And if you don't care for your dog, that's very, I don't want to hear about it.
But he cares for this dog so much, which just makes me think like Shep should have grown up and done this years ago.
I know.
I know.
It's upsetting to me.
It is why.
So he's talking to Danny about his relationship with Taylor and how he, you know, he has trouble committing because he's always thinking what if someone better comes along.
And the thing is I appreciate that Danny is like, well, that's, I mean, that's normal.
You just have to, you know, get over it, whatever.
But it's like, it's not that normal.
Like, you're 40 years old.
It's not that weird to be like, okay, this is my girlfriend.
I'm happy.
Like, I.
You're absolutely right.
but take away the fact that Shep is 40 and just think about Shep as a person and what he has been his whole life. And he is like a frat boy who lives in like a party town and and just goes out. So I think this is him. Well, it is him being like, oh my God. Like I got a I got a good girl. I have to like the fact that he is even open and talking about the fact that he's going to therapy talking about it. I really think that he.
is making strides.
And Taylor seems to be a great girl for him.
I don't know a thing about her,
but she seems to be great.
Yeah.
And I also in that scene,
it was a very nice moment of him really apologizing to Danny
for what he kind of put her through.
It seems like they're sort of acknowledging
that the Chlamydia thing was true in this moment, I feel.
But I mean, either way,
it's not really important.
and even if it is true, it's not something to shame someone about.
But I think Shep is kind of acknowledging that he dragged Danny into this whole situation.
And obviously they have their own feelings about Madison,
but that either way, Shep played a part in it.
Yeah, I was going to say, I'm glad we brought this up.
I know it happened last season,
but I do want to just reiterate the fact that Madison is the one that brought on this drama of the chlamydia.
situation and she wanted to embarrass Shep, but she embarrassed Danny and I will not get over
that aspect of the show. Right. Danny, Danny had no kind of dog in that fight. Like she had no reason.
Yeah. Yeah. There was no reason for her to go there. I thought that was a nice moment. Shep is
clearly not perfect, but he does seem like he's moving in a direction of being more mature.
Yeah. So this, wait, what Austin and.
Craig are still living together. And before we move on to this double date, I just want to say that this
acronym that Austin said, Mary will now be used in my daily vocabulary, a mysterious alcohol-related
injury. And I was like, it's a good. I mean, hoomst among us has not had a mysterious alcohol-related
injury. I have woken up with bruises. And I'm like, what did I run it? Did I fight someone last night? No,
I didn't. I would never fight someone. Well, maybe, but not.
scratches. Yeah, I mean, it's a great, it's a great term. Yes. So anyway, this double date,
this double date is, oh my God, I was like, I was like shaking of awkwardness. It was Austin and Madison
and Shep and Taylor. And I was like, have you guys ever seen each other before? Like, why is this so
weird? Okay, I was, so when Shep said that they were going to dinner together, at first, I was like,
okay, they're going to dinner and they're really going to hash things out.
you know, like once and for all, it's going to be kind of like a dinner meeting where they're going to talk through all this stuff.
But then that wasn't the vibe.
They just like sat down at dinner.
Like they were like two friendly couples going to dinner with each other except for the fact that it was awkward.
And I was like, oh, I thought we were actually going to like work on our shit rather than just like sit at dinner and make small talk.
Right.
Well, it's awkward because you can tell even though chef and Madison clearly like quote unquote made up, she still is not 100.
100% about him. So during dinner, she was like trying to just make digs. And to be honest,
have I had some of my girlfriends have boyfriends that I don't like. Yes. But like you got unless
you're like 100% know about this guy, you have to just move past it and let your friend
figured out on on their own. So like for this, I'm like Madison, enough. Like it's really like
annoying already. Like so we see that chef and Taylor, these acronyms, this episode,
I was like, why have they never done this before?
Like used all these terms.
So Madison awkwardly asks, tells Shep and Taylor that they should have the talk right now if they're dating.
And Taylor says she's ready to be DTR down the shore.
No.
Wait, do you not, have you not heard DTR before?
No, no.
Oh, see, that's, that's, I guess that's a, maybe that's a my generation thing.
Or maybe that's a Southern thing.
No, I've been saying DTR for years.
Like in college.
You've never in my life.
My generation, Dylan, F, you.
You have to define the relationship.
If you're like, to go from like hooking up to dating, you have to define the relationship.
And my generation is, what are we?
What are we?
Yeah, yeah, that's too straightforward.

Shep, I mean, for his part, Shep goes along with it and says,
we're dating, cool, that's what it is.
It's so weird to me, though, because from everything they had been saying before,
it's like, why weren't you at this point?
already. I don't like I very strange to me but I I do like that Shep and Madison are now at this point where they can kind of give each other a hard time.
Yeah. Like when and when he says something about my friends and Madison's like oh like does that mean we're friends now like let's DTR like I like that they have this kind of back and forth but also I think Madison is like I think her messiness is like bubbling below the surface and we'll we'll see where they're. We'll see where they're.
that goes for the rest of the season because I'm ready to like Madison, but also I feel like she
could fuck it up at any moment. I agree. I agree. And it's, you can tell that Austin has so much
to say too and stays quiet during these scenes with them. He doesn't get involved. He doesn't get
involved unless it's with Madison's son's homework, which was the cutest little moment.
I don't know. I've, that son, oh, he's so cute.
cute. I did like how Austin was honest the fact that he said he wouldn't swipe right if someone
had a kid. Yeah. I thought that was great. That was a nice moment where he's saying that he
kind of sees himself growing into this place where he could take on more of like a stepfather
type role. I don't know if he's there yet like in his relationship with Madison, but I think
just kind of in a life place to be thinking about that is good. So the episode kind of culminates
with these two,
with a men's event and a women's event,
we have,
we have Leva's big Persian dinner party and a classic boys night.
I was loving this dinner party.
It's great to hear more about her background.
I'm really,
really into Leva so far.
I feel like she is kind of a perfect addition to the cast.
Yes.
Seeing with her with her mom and her sister and hearing about her parents' background,
it's really, really interesting.
Yeah, her,
her Persian dinner was a much nicer themed party
than any of the ones we've seen on below deck so far.
I was like, she, I was like, oh, it was beautiful what she did.
But what I loved is that when each of the women,
you can tell they were like so excited because I loved how they were open to learning
about that.
Well, of course, they should be open,
learning this, um, Leva's background.
So they were all like so excited to drive.
dress up, but so nervous at the same time to like come, as she said, not dressed as Princess
Jasmine, because that is not accurate.
Right.
But when they each came, you can, in individually, you can tell they were a little like nervous.
They're like, do I look okay?
Is this right?
Like, what do I do?
I actually thought this was a really nice moment because sometimes when they do theme parties
like this on these shows, it can really tow the line between cultural appropriation and
like an appreciation type of moment.
And I felt like this party, I think it was good that she directed them not to look like Princess Jasmine
because they all came, you know, they wanted to dress appropriately, but not in a way that was like a costume.
Yes.
Yeah.
And so I, I liked that.
And they all kind of, you know, really tried their best and like put their own little spin on it.
I love Danny's outfit.
That necklace that Madison was wearing.
I was like, oh my God.
She had literal parrots around her neck.
I know.
I was like, um, this might have been in a different direction.
but it's fine. You look great. Catherine showed up looking like Princess Anastasia, like six foot two.
She is such a presence when she walks into a room. I am blown away. I saw, I was in the same room as Catherine at BravoCon last year. And I was like taken a back at how tall she is because I think she's like five foot 11. And then when she wears heels, she towers over people.
It is, it's like strange to see in real life.
And then even on screen, she's like twice as tall as Leva's mom.
Right.
But, you know, prior to that, we saw Leva inviting Catherine, which I thought was really nice.
I always had this soft spot when the, when anyone invites Catherine to a party because she reminds me of like a little girl.
And she's, she appreciates being included.
So I loved when Levo was like, okay, love you.
Bye.
And then Catherine was like, all right, see.
And it's so awkward.
But, but Catherine was.
like what's the dress code? You know I love to serve looks. And I could never get out of my mind when
Catherine showed up in that Beyonce look with the pig to the formation with the hat and the pigtail
braids. And I was like, but yeah, this party was great. The food, oh my God, the food looked
delicious. It looks so good, but I'm not, you know me. I would be like so rude because I would
just eat the rice. I don't, guys, I'm not a big eater. I want like a bath. I want like a bathtub.
tub full of rice. It just looked so good. But that
pomegranate chicken was very interesting. Like
it was a, I like, I just want, I want to read up more on this food. So then meanwhile at
Boys Night, we see Shep flirting with the ladies at the bar and he has this confessional
quote about how it's okay to flirt as long as you're getting your food from home or whatever.
I just like, Shepard, come on. We just saw you DTR with Taylor.
like keep it in your pants please and the thing is with people like him is that's definitely a
problem because he's not he's clearly not like into these girls he would literally just be hooking
up with them like to do it like because you need that satisfaction and it's like I don't even
think it when I saw that scene I wasn't like oh he's going to take one of these girls home but
it's just that thing where it's like I don't think it's super respectful when you're in a
relationship to be at a bar flirting with other girls I'm not somebody who's
who's like, oh, you need to like, you know, be at home and like bow down to your woman or whatever.
But like it's a little weird to be at a bar being like, hey, ladies.
Like, wait, I'm sorry that this is my second Jersey Shore reference this episode.
But that reminded me when Ronnie hooked up with a girl, but still thought it was okay to go
home and like sleep with Sam that night.
Because he's like, I still went home to you.
It's like, that's not okay.
Thank you so much.
Actually, that's really thoughtful.
Oh, my God.
Yeah.
And then the other kind of thing that made my ears perk up at this boys' night is that John Pringle is talking about Madison and basically says to Austin's face that he wants to get with Madison. And it's like, it's one thing to say like Madison's a great girl. Like, you know, she's so she's super pretty or whatever. But like I think it's very uncool to basically be saying like if you guys ever break up, I'm getting right in there. Like yeah. It was not the classiest way to go about that. But also.
Austin, stick up for yourself.
Like, hello.
Like, say something.
He was kind of just like.
You see like the look on his face and then he said something in the in his interview.
But like in the moment he should have been like, can you not?
Well, yeah.
Also he very well might have been caught up.
Well, he was caught off guard.
So it's almost like, whoa.
Like how do I handle this situation?
But at the same time, Madison is quite the little flirt herself.
Yeah.
And she's like,
John Pringle is cute like whatever.
I can't not like I can't get into character Madison said and not do the accent.
But yeah, okay, so back at Leva's dinner, we get some major news.
I'm sweating just thinking about it.
I was like my full body was in shock.
So Catherine's phone dings like you know something's up when they make sure to play the phone noise.
she's looking at her phone, she's like pacing around.
It's like before dessert.
So everyone's kind of like up and walking.
Thomas Ravenel is having another baby.
All right.
All right.
Here's the thing.
He's having another baby.
And she is six, seven months along, which is not, that is, you're almost done.
You're almost done with the pregnancy.
You are like quite pregnant by six or seven months.
So we find out the cat.
Catherine finds out from the lawyer, like the lawyer confirms it and claims that Thomas was like, yeah, I didn't need like, you know, I didn't, so what? I didn't feel the need to tell you. And I was like, at that point, I was like, are you, is this a joke? Like, what do you mean you to? They're going to be related. The kids are going to be related. You're both their father. Like, and whatever, you know, whatever, um, child support or custody arrangement, there's all of a sudden another kid thrown into that. And that. And whatever, you know, whatever, whatever, um, child support or custody arrangement, there's all of a sudden, sudden,
Like it makes a difference in terms of his financial situation and, you know, what support Catherine might be getting.
It's not, it's not just like, oh, yeah, like that's something that happened.
It actually could change stuff in their arrangement.
And the fact that this is happening after earlier in the episode, we saw Catherine kind of fantasizing about being back together with Thomas.
It's like, oh, my God.
What a douchebag.
So at first when she said he's having a baby, I thought.
I had two levels of angry.
Because I was like, okay, I would be so pissed because we didn't know at this point how far along the girl was.
So I was like, wait, you didn't know he was literally hooking up with someone.
You're literally living there with him.
I would be so angry.
But then we find out she's that far along.
So I'm like, wait, I'd be more mad about that because you didn't tell me.
And I get it.
Like they're not together.
He's entitled.
But like, come on.
That's a respect level.
Like, holy crap.
Well, and she says that.
she knew about this woman when he when she was with thomas and so it's not like some it's not like some
secret you know fling that happened last week it's like somebody he was with before she had even seen the
the positive pregnancy test and thomas had lied to her and said oh it must have been someone else
like there are so many there are so many layers of him like being an asshole to her and it's it's
sad that she kind of fell for it again but at the same time it's like
That's fucked up.
Well, here's the thing also.
Like, when she received this news, I was telling Dylan this, if that were me and we have
seen Catherine before, I know she's changed, but like she blows up at this, I would not
be as calm as she was at this dinner.
If I'm finding out that news, that extreme, I would have to gather.
I would, I would lose, I can't even get words out.
I would lose my mind.
Just because of how disrespect.
that is and his response. But also, are we 100% sure she didn't know? I'm not like,
you know, I'm not, I'm not, I know. I would not put it past Catherine to kind of orchestrate
that for the show. But at the same time, I also wouldn't put it past T Rav to like fuck her over
in that way. So I don't feel, I don't feel like 100% confident either way, but I'm willing to
believe the narrative that we were shown. Yeah, no, I do. But I'm like, let's,
play devil's advocate for a second,
just for one second, and then, okay,
reel it back in, we're good.
Curious to see where this goes.
It looks like possibly next week
is when the COVID shit starts
hitting the fan on Southern Charm,
which it'll be...
Because Catherine obviously doesn't understand it.
It'll be interesting.
She's like, what virus?
The girl's like, I don't know if you've heard,
but the country's shut down.
She's like, oh, oh,
the virus.
It's going to be a bumpy ride.
Speaking of shows that are about to hit COVID any minute now, we have Orange County.
This was another kind of interesting episode.
I thought the most interesting parts were about Gina and her situation with her ex, Matt.
And she, you know, as much as I think Gina is like not that great of a housewife, it is really interesting to see her struggling with this.
and she's having to decide whether she's going to write a victim impact statement about what happened with the domestic violence,
which I think is something that unfortunately a lot of people can relate to.
And I think it's good for her that she's being open about this on the show.
Yeah, I thought that was actually, I agree with you with how we feel about Gina.
But like that scene was very, that must be very hard to talk about on television, let alone in general.
but that was really nice to see all of the both couples together for the kids.
And that was almost something of Gino we haven't seen really before.
So I wonder if we'll see or if we know in real life already if this happened.
Yeah, I haven't looked up what's going on currently.
But it's interesting because her first season, she was with Matt,
but Matt was never really on the show.
Her second season, obviously things were really bad between them.
So he wasn't around.
And it's, I think.
it's really, she's in a tough spot because obviously she wants the co-parenting relationship to be
as good as possible. But at the same time, she can't just ignore what happened between them.
And I really, I sympathize with her. And I think it's great that she's being honest about it because
that is something that people do struggle with and deal with and, you know, people, you know, forgiving your
abuser and stuff like that. And it's, I mean, it's just a really real thing.
and I think it's good that it's being shown.
Yeah.
Speaking of,
I just want to touch on this because I was really like blown away at this scene with
Jacob Bronwyn's son.
And I,
when he,
Bronwyn said that he asked for a pair of heels for Christmas.
And ever since then,
like he's been,
you know,
dressing in drag.
And I loved the fact that he was on the show in a confessional and like
talking about it.
I was like, this is awesome because this has not been on Housewives before.
And as him as such a young age, maybe being a voice for people that are going through
depression and other things, like he said that this helped him.
And I just, I loved that seeing that.
Yeah.
And it's great to see Bronwyn really kind of letting him go on this journey and having this
space to figure out. Because when, you know, she's like, I, I don't know if this is going to be,
you know, if there's going to be, you know, like gender stuff or sexuality or whatever. But like,
at this point, it doesn't matter if he wants to wear heels, you know, it's not hurting anyone. And
it's helping him kind of figure out his identity. And yeah, it is nice to see him in the confessional
and kind of letting him have his own say and what's going on versus just like Ronwin's kids in a dress.
Right. And you know what? Bronwyn said something, which is so eye-opening, though, where she said that people are going to hate him without knowing him. And that is just so true, unfortunately, that that's the parts of this world that truly like sucks because he is coming on the show and being open for it to help people. And then, you know what? People are just very judgmental and hopefully they learn something from this too.
Well, and think about last season on this exact same show when they were on their trip to Florida and they went to a drag show and Vicki was like, drag queens, what the fucks?
Like, what's going on?
Ew, ew, ew.
It's like, it's not like some mysterious thing that there are people who aren't going to respond well to this.
It's like literally your former cast member.
I know.
But yeah, another, there's a lot of like weird stuff going on.
We see Elizabeth's trying to buy a Ferrari.
I, have you ever seen a.
housewife trying to struggle so hard to be on the show, like in your first season. Oh my God.
Shannon and Gina go over to her house for lunch and they're like walking through the house.
She's basically showing off how nice her house is. Then they go outside to sit down for lunch.
And all these bowls have these like pre-made like pasta like salads and stuff with the whole food stickers stuck to the side of the bowl.
Dylan, I almost turned off my TV. Like what? I was so. I was so.
confused. So appalled at that moment because that is where the line, money doesn't buy class
comes into play. I'm sorry. I'm sorry. That's true. Anyone can go to the Whole Foods cold bar
and buy a pound of pasta salad. Like, I don't get it. Well, it's like she she kept it on
because, you know, what's in it, blah, blah, blah. But like you're having these two women over who
that you've never like really, you know, sat with before.
And so, you know, it's, listen, if anyone's entitled to do that, I've done, like, you have people over and you're like, here, I didn't cook. I made this. But like, Shannon has pointed out before and we've seen it too. Elizabeth has never not talked about money before. So I think that she had that on there. Even Shannon said with the price tag on it because we need to know how much she paid for each of these side dishes as well. I will say if Elizabeth. And with a bottle of patron on the table too. Oh my God. If Elizabeth would like to adopt me as one of her niece.
or nephews.
I would not complain about having a million dollar trust.
I was like and she, and then on, well, they don't know about it yet because I don't want
them to murder me.
And I was like that again is just, come on.
Yeah.
Also it's like, okay, so you can't talk about anything about your personal life on TV,
but you can talk about how many millions of dollars you set aside in a trust for your
nieces and nephews.
Like that's not what I want to hear about.
Sorry.
And the Ferrari, like it's, it's much more fun seeing like Kyle Richards buy a car than
Elizabeth.
I did.
One moment that I can't forget to mention at the very beginning of the episode, we see Emily Simpson
scooping kitty litter into a Louis Vuitton shopping bag.
And I, as much as Emily is like not my favorite housewife, that is a just like the perfect
housewives visual.
That was very funny.
And I laughed because as like, I feel like as a mom, you look at what's, whatever is like easy or can,
you can find next to you. And like the fact that that was the closest shopping bag was so funny.
My mom uses those shopping bags like for lunch and stuff like to take her lunch in. But like kitty
litter, no. We also see, speaking of Emily, we see her working on a new project, a swimsuit line
with former OC housewife Lizzie Rovsec, who we've not seen on the show in a while.
Yeah. I guess, but nice to see Lizzie. I don't know. I actually really liked Lizzie.
she was on the show, but I feel like she's not somebody that I'm like clamoring to have back.
Right.
I did like why she was on this episode, though, because she's having Emily design a swimsuit
for, because they're, Emily's body type is more the average than, you know, like a size zero.
So I liked that.
Inclusivity.
But yeah, I do like Lizzie.
But again, wrong cast, wrong time.
I think she just bumped heads with Tamara.
and it didn't work out for her.
Also, I got to say Lizzie should cool it on the fillers.
I have thought that since she was on the show, but she is a beautiful woman.
Like, I think Lizzie is beautiful.
But, yeah, let's say.
Let's wrap it up.
Who is your number one Bravo Lab in the group between these two episodes?
I'm going to go.
I know. I'm going to go with
Leba because I thought the party that, well, the dinner.
I don't like the dinner party that she hosted was beautiful,
classy and a gorgeous get together that was educational as well.
I fully second that,
but just so we don't always say the same person,
I never thought I would say this.
I'm going to give it to Gina Kirshinheiter
because I feel she clearly was going through a lot.
And I appreciate that she has shared it with us because I think it actually could help someone.
And that is, you know, we don't always, that's not like the point of housewives, but it's a nice little bonus.
And keep it up, Gina.
Good work.
