Mention It All
A Bravo by Betches podcast
We don't say that but now we said it
With me, Dylan Hafer
We'll go check me both
Hey everyone, welcome back to the
Mention at All podcast
It is Thursday
And we have stuff to talk about
We are going to get all the way
into Salt Lake City
Because oh boy, that Palm Springs trip
I can't decide whether that trip
looks like so much fun
or like the worst thing imaginable
because I always feel like on Housewives, when they do the smaller trips, like in the first half of the season, obviously they already went to Milwaukee, which like looked kind of surprisingly fun.
But in Palm Springs, it's like, okay, so they're going to this, it's not NASCAR.
People are going to, I feel like people are going to be mad at me because I don't know like the car racing words.
I know it's not NASCAR.
I don't think it's Formula One because is there a Formula One race in Palm Springs?
Like that seems intense.
And then they're playing volleyball.
beach volleyball, and then there's this weird anniversary party.
Like, all the events on this trip look a little bit skippable to me.
But, like, the house looks nice.
And the little, like, pool, pond, outdoor situation looks really lovely.
You know, Bronwyn, obviously, a great hostess.
But then at the end, you have to fly coach home.
You have to sit in 17C.
Lisa Barlow, sitting in row 17 on a plane.
Oh, the horror.
But anyway, we will get more into.
Salt Lake City. But first, I want to give a nice little shout out to Candace Dillard Bassett,
who is officially a mother. She's been a mother to us for many years, but now she is, in the
literal sense, a mother to a human baby child. In people, there were photos of her and Chris,
and her son, Jet Maxwell Lee, who was born on October 3rd. And I really, when I saw that,
I was surprised and impressed that Candace waited over a month after having this baby to
post about it.
That is a level of restraint that like, I don't know if I'm ever going to have kids,
but if I did, the idea that I would wait like almost six weeks before like telling anyone,
I mean, I'm sure she told like, you know, the people who are actually present in her life.
I don't think she've fully kept this baby a secret, but I'm like, good for her.
she like actually you know spent some time at home and she probably hasn't been in the studio much lately
I am very happy for Candace and Chris she told our friend Dave Quinn in the people article about it that
she already wants more and if she wants more then I hope she can have more and I I hope that maybe
someday we'll see her again on our TV screens but I think for right now I totally understand Candice
being sort of in her her mommy era away from the real house size of Potomac cameras because let's be
honest. It's a shit show when you're when you're in the middle of that. And Candace doesn't make it
easy on herself when she's been on Housewives. So I think taking that time away is probably the
best thing. And I'm very happy for her and Chris and baby chat. On a more fun note for me personally,
we got to talk about what's going on with Teddy Mellancamp. We talked last week, two weeks ago.
I don't know. Time is fluid at this point in my brain. But Teddy and Edwin,
are getting divorced. She filed for divorce. And I remember going through her statement that she posted
about filing for divorce. And it definitely like planted the seed of that Edwin had done something and
she had chosen to file for divorce as a result. She didn't say that in quite as many words. But
that was sort of the vibe that we got. But according to what the streets are saying and now what
the Daily Mail and page six are saying, maybe things are not that simple.
with Teddy and Edwin's breakup situation.
There was, Dumois posted a couple weeks ago,
sort of right after Teddy's announcement,
that they had heard that both of them were cheating on each other,
which is just like, you know, I love balance.
Like, that's, it's nice, like, if one person's going to cheat,
like, everybody should be getting their little piece on the side,
if that's the situation.
But according to these reports this week,
we know allegedly who Teddy has been,
stepping out with.
And that is, of course, her horse trainer.
It's always the horse trainer.
I mean, what could be more sensual and, you know, maybe inspirational in a sexual way
than somebody whose whole job is to teach you how to ride?
Like, if you're going to have an affair with anybody, it should be the horse trainer, right?
This guy, no, I'm not condoning infidelity.
I'm not condoning cheating on your partner, but I am condoning, like, us having a
having like gossip to talk about. And so this guy, Simon Schroeder, I guess Teddy has been
seeing him for a while, both in the horse training sense and in the allegedly fucking sense.
So they've been intimate for a while, according to these reports. And Simon is also married
to a woman, a lovely woman, I'm sure, named Carly. I think that's her name. And so
according to these stories, things sort of started to unfold when Teddy and
and Simon were together in Florida at some sort of equestrian event competition.
I don't, is, is Teddy really out here, like, competing in equestrian events?
God, real hostiles of Beverly Hills is like a horse girl show to its core.
I mean, we hear about Sutton and her horse Santos all the time.
Never forget Lisa Vanderpump with her mini horses, Diamonds and Rose.
RAP to one of them, I can't remember which.
Lots of horse girl energy on Beverly Hills.
So this does feel correct.
Apparently, Teddy and Simon were together in Florida when Simon's wife was back home in California giving birth to his baby.
So obviously that didn't go over great.
Just from like a general marriage and partnership standpoint, I don't think many wives would be thrilled with their husband being across the country at like a work event when they're actively in labor.
But that then gets even worse if you consider the evidence that Teddy and Simon were like, you know,
together in more ways than one in Florida.
And apparently Carly found the text messages between Teddy and Simon after he got back and she confronted him.
And he confessed to having an affair with her.
And then said that he would end it.
Tale is oldest time.
Didn't end it.
Duh.
And then they kept seeing each other.
and, you know, reportedly, who knows where the truth really, like, you know, starts and stops with this.
Reportedly, the connection got deeper and, you know, it wasn't just that they were, you know, a horse trainer and a horse trainee.
Are you, if you're, if it's the horse trainer and you're, like, the person who rides the horse, are you being trained also?
Or, like, I know very little about the equestrian world.
But anyway, this is a perfect storyline.
And I hate to say it, but this is making me want Teddy back on Real Housewives of Beverly Hills.
And that feels crazy, but also it kind of feels like it would be crazy not to in a way.
But then the other part of this that I don't particularly care about but also feels relevant,
Teddy and Tamara, if you haven't heard, have this podcast where they're talking about all things,
Housewives and everybody's drama in the Bravo world.
And one thing that they have talked about a lot is people who have cheating scandals and people
who have issues in their marriage.
And when those issues are on the shows or sometimes not even on the shows, Teddy and Tamara
have not been shy about sharing their thoughts about all of those things.
So there are all of these things coming out now where it's like people are dragging Teddy
for stuff that she has said on her podcast about cheating, about marriages, about affairs.
And it's like, okay, pop meat kettle, like, here we go.
Miss ma'am, what's happening with the horse trainer?
Maybe you were getting a little private training on the side in the stables.
I don't know what's happening.
I mean, I also, whatever is happening with Teddy and this guy, Simon, like, Edwin could have been
in something just as bad, if not worse.
So, like, I don't, you know, I'm not really here to drag Teddy.
I'm more here to be like, okay, now I'm intrigued.
Now there's where there's smoke, there's fire, and it feels like there's a there there.
And I would love more information.
I would love to see if Teddy's going to comment on this.
But either way, I mean, juicy, juicy stuff.
I can't wait to see where it goes.
Wait, also, before we get into Salt Lake City, just one other thing.
did anyone else see that Kelly Dodd has been
it's been an interesting little time in the world of Kelly Dodd.
Now, we do not talk about Kelly Dodd much here anymore because frankly, it's depressing
and it's not worth talking about.
And also, I'm blocked by her on like every social media.
So like whatever she's saying, I'm not seeing it.
And I'm certainly not engaging with it.
But there was a clip that was on Twitter that I just couldn't ignore yesterday.
she was on Instagram live going on this rant about John Arthur Hill, who is like Andy's ex,
who then also has, is on Radio Andy.
Like, he's, he's great.
He's, he's very funny.
He's, like, in the, like, expanded Bravo verse, but not, like, on a Bravo show, which
is, you know, kind of, I think sometimes better.
But he was talking about Kelly on Radio Andy and, like, said some stuff about her, which, like,
I'm sure she deserved.
and he called her a white woman.
And so Kelly was like on Instagram Live being like, yeah.
And then this little twerp, John Hill, he's calling me a white woman.
I'm a full-blown Mexican.
So if you call me a white woman, that's racist.
Which, okay.
Backing up a little bit, Kelly over the last few years has referred to herself as a black woman,
as a Mexican woman, as a Native American woman.
whenever it suits her, whichever way,
she also, I'm sure, has identified as a white woman in the past.
That's kind of neither here nor there.
But then she says, she brings up that they were apparently,
somebody said that she said the F slur.
And she's like, I wouldn't, she's like, she says the word.
And then she's like, but I would, I would never say that.
I wouldn't say that.
I wouldn't say the N word.
Well, I did just say the F word, but I wouldn't.
It's like watching a robot, like, the sparks kind of short circuit in their brain in real time.
And like the visual of Kelly Dodd on Instagram Live just like using slurs, it's like bad, but also it's kind of hilarious.
And that is just like, Kelly, I hope you're well.
But oh my God, it's so funny.
If you haven't seen that clip, go fine.
I'm not going to post it, but go.
because strange things happening in the world of Kelly Dodd.

Let's talk about Salt Lake City, though, because this season, continuing to fire on all cylinders.
And this week, we got our mid-season trailer, which, I mean, this trip to Mexico that they're going to take later this season, first of all, you know, thank God we're still getting international trips on Real Houseways of Salt Lake City because it took a long time.
But really, it's what they deserve.
And this trip to Mexico looks like it's going to be seriously, like, intense.
and we're seeing, you know, Bronwyn is talking to producers and Angie is being physically held back by people and there's a lot going on.
Meredith's like, you know, breaking down and doesn't want to speak to production and all this.
Like, there is so much going on, just so much to look at.
And I think that the season of Salt Lake City is really continuing to shine week after week.
And, you know, this trip to Palm Springs, it feels like just, it's such a, like, well-oiled machine at this point and that everybody kind of knows their role.
Everybody is, like, fitting into the puzzle really well.
And, I mean, compared to a show like New York that I was talking about on yesterday's episode, it just is, like, so refreshing and encouraging to see that we can have a group of women who, like, don't all like each other and don't all get along.
and don't always necessarily even have like important things to talk about, but they can just like
figure it out and make it work and like give us what we need and understand the assignment.
And like it feels like it should be in theory an easy thing to replicate.
But after watching so many episodes and so many seasons of Housewives, we know that it's not.
We know that it's not easy to like really operate on a lot.
level like this. I mean, Andy said on the on the Orange County reunion that this season of Orange
County was the hundredth season of housewives. And like when you actually think about that, like,
I mean, first of all, if you, if you think about it for too long, it's depressing because you're like,
what have I been doing with the last however many years of my life watching a hundred seasons
of housewives? But then when you actually think about it, it's like how many of those seasons
have really like risen to a certain level and like there are probably,
there are probably like a handful, you know, maybe max a dozen seasons that we really think of as like the most iconic.
And I don't know if this season of Salt Lake will really like end up in that pantheon.
But it's like so solidly entertaining week after week.
And I mean like I was I was watching this episode and I was fully just laughing out loud over and over again.
When they're at this party in Palm Springs at this dinner table and it were.
back on these issues of Whitney versus Lisa and then Meredith versus Sean and Angie because
Sean maybe said something about Brooks on a podcast.
It's all the stuff they're talking about is like frankly quite dumb because I don't really
care what Sean Trujillo said on a podcast.
Like that's not that's not something that I'm losing sleep over.
Frankly, I don't think it's something Meredith is losing sleep over.
I think it's something that, you know, makes sense to talk about on a TV show.
But when she's like, when Sean is annoyed because she, he thought they were good.
And then she brings it back up.
And she's like, well, I can pull it up for you if you like.
But, you know, the jest was that you were using my son's sexuality to excuse the behavior.
Like, it's so, like, who cares about Sean?
But suddenly I'm back in and then Seth across the table, pulls up his phone.
pulls up the article and just yells, proof, biotch!
And Seth Marks using the word biotch is not something that I ever thought I would hear.
And it's not something that I would have thought that I needed to hear.
But it's so...
It comes out of nowhere.
And I think the thing with these Salt Lake City husbands,
the thing that I enjoy about them compared to some other househouse.
wives, husbands that get more involved and we see kind of like participating in the shows is that
I feel like with the Salt Lake men, it usually feels like when they are getting involved,
it's sort of, it's almost like taking them by surprise, that it's like they're not planning to get
that involved.
All they want to do is sit in the hot tub and play a little sand volleyball and kick back and have a
good time, but they are, like, getting worked up to a point where, like, now I have to step in versus
I think, like, if you think about a show, like, New Jersey, maybe, or, you know, maybe some seasons of
Atlanta when the husbands were more involved or something like that, like, it feels like there's a
little bit more of, like, a game plan where it's like, okay, like, the husbands are going to do this.
We're going to, you know, be involved here and get involved in this storyline and participate in our
wives, whatever. And, like, I think the Salt Lake City men, like,
deep down, like they don't want to be that involved in the conflict, but sometimes it just
it bubbles up and it boils over. And God, Seth Mark's just yelling biotch across the table is,
it's so good. And then like, when Whitney's like, did you just call me a biatch? Like you, I think
that was really uncle. Like, it's so good. But backing up a little bit. The first thing I want to
talk about is something that doesn't happen in Palm Springs. And it's the scene with
Mary and her son and her son's wife. Do we know her name? I can't remember her name. But it is like
seriously depressing watching Mary go into his bedroom and like try to have this conversation about
what they're doing in life, what they have going on, which is a whole lot of nothing. When he
last cleaned the room, all the shots around this room are like giving me so much anxiety. Because
it's so obvious that he is not in a good place.
But then like all of the like lingering shots on the nightstands and the dresser.
And it's like, okay, clocking the stuff that he has.
It's like it's like a pharmacy and like just so there's like random cleaning supplies.
There's like video game figurines and like memorabilia.
There are pill bottles on the table.
There's like a dab torch.
which it's like, why is there a blowtorch just sitting on the nightstand?
Can we put that in a drawer somewhere?
And then my favorite little detail, though, is there's this close-up shot of these
post-it notes that Mary has clearly written for her son Robert.
And like, they're funny, but then also kind of heartbreaking.
Like there's an acrostic poem that spells out his name, Robert,
and the words are rare, outstanding, beautiful, you feel.
phoric, radiant, tranquil. What a collection of words. Then there's another one that says,
wake up happy, my angel mommy loves you so much. There's one that's like partially cut off,
but you can just read it says, see how handsome you are. One that says,
spend my life with you, my forever boy. It's tough because I think Mary is somebody who,
over the past, you know, four or five years that we've seen her on this show, she hasn't let us in
very much historically.
And it really feels like the situation with Robert is kind of the first time that we're
seeing her, like, actually struggling with something on a human level that we can kind of relate to.
And obviously, like, personally, I can't relate to, like, having a child that's going through
something like this.
But, like, that feels like a relatable thing that she's kind of sharing with us as
viewers and that she's figuring it out as she goes too, that she's really actively
worried that if she can't kind of figure out how to approach this situation with her son,
that like it's not going to go in a good direction.
And I obviously like, that's kind of heartbreaking to watch.
And I clearly we're going to deal with it more as this season goes on.
There's some of that in the midseason trailer.
And I think we've, you know, we've seen some updates about.
it since the season finished filming too, that like it's a it's a really tough story.
And honestly, like, it also makes you wonder, where is her husband in all of this?
I, we know that he doesn't really want to be on the show.
Mary talked about that on Watch What Happens Live.
But like, is he around at all?
It sounds like he's been in Florida or wherever pretty much this whole time.
And so even if, even if her marriage isn't something that makes her life, you know, easier or
happier, it still must kind of be frustrating that she's basically just in this house alone
with her son who's like clearly going through it and that like, in theory, your husband could be
somebody who's like a supportive partner to help you tackle that issue and that she just has
none of that. And so I hope that she has like somebody she can lean on, somebody she can go to
for like support, advice, help throughout this whole process with her son.
But like, oh, it just is, it's tough.
It's really rough.
Make every get-together chill.

Over in Palm Springs, the biggest kind of like thread throughout the episode is that
Bronwyn and Lisa need to have a discussion.
And at the very beginning of the episode, Lisa and John are talking.
And John basically is like, you need to have a one-on-one conversation with Bronwyn
so that nobody else can get involved and like try to see.
steer the dynamic because, you know, we're pinpointing that Whitney is the common denominator of
your issues with Bronwyn and with Angie. And so really, the most important thing is that you talk to
Bronwyn one-on-one. So then what happens right after that at the group lunch where everyone's
at the table, Lisa is immediately like, okay, Bronwyn, so I want to talk about our issues with Heather.
Like, God bless Lisa for like listening to the advice, agreeing with
the advice and then immediately doing the opposite of the advice because Heather might not be on the
trip but you know who is on the trip Whitney Rose who's sitting right across the table and when
Lisa's like you know I just want to talk because like if someone's lying about me and then
side eye at Whitney dot dot dot and Whitney's like I never lied about you and then we're right back
where we started where Lisa's pushing on Whitney for proof of this Alibaba rumor
And Whitney's like, you know, like, I have proof.
I have proof.
And Lisa's like, okay, where's the proof?
Are the horses going to come running in with the proof?
Like, I think my tequila has more proof than you, which like, honestly, like, zing.
I don't know how long Lisa's been sitting on that one.
But it gave me a little chuckle.
It was a little bit of like a dad joke on Lisa's part, but whatever.
But then, like, again, as we've talked about for weeks, the proof isn't there.
We haven't seen it.
It's not coming.
I don't, I don't, I mean, perhaps it's coming.
Whitney certainly isn't acting like it is.
And then John's way of jumping in to try and squash things between Whitney and his wife is like such a husband way of going about things because he's like, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait.
I can, in five seconds, I can put a stop to this.
Lisa, do you, do you want to hurt Whitney?
No.
Okay, she says no, she says no. That's the answer. Whitney, do you, do you think that Whitney, that Lisa has ever lied?
Like, John's insistence that if Lisa says that she didn't lie, that means she didn't lie and therefore anyone who's ever said she's lied is lying.
I've talked about many times before that people inherently are liars.
Like, everybody fucking lies.
And so John Barlow, I know you love your wife and I know you're trying to do the right thing.
But like, it's trying to establish as a fact that Lisa Barlow has never told a lie is simply like not going to pan out the way that you wanted to.
It's so funny, though.
And then Sean, of course, brings up Lisa Colleen.
Angie a bitch at some point and says that she's like borderline abusive. Lisa's like, I just have a
different way of speaking. And if you can't understand that, then it is what it is. Do I think that calling
someone a bitch is borderline abusive? Not really. That's a stretch. I mean, we're on Real Housewives
for God's sakes. Like, if you're not calling someone a bitch, it's a boring episode. So I think
that Sean probably needs to chill a little bit. But at the same time, like, arguing with Lisa
does seem deeply annoying.
So I understand why he's not really, like, loving that energy.
You know who else's energy I'm not loving this episode is?
Brownman's husband, Todd, we're getting, like, a not great side of him.
And seeing, I think that, like, when he's not just in his, like, charming older gentleman
at home with his eccentric wife, that, like, he's, there's a reason that he's, like, there's a reason that he's,
a very successful businessman, and there's a reason that he is, like, at the place in life that he is.
And it's not because he's, like, a little kooky and loves buying ugly art for way too much money.
It's because he's, like, kind of an asshole.
And I don't say that to be, like, rude.
I think that, like, anybody who has, you know, run a company and sold it for a lot of money
and then done it again and does a hedge fund and is, you know, making deals left and
right, like, you have to be kind of an asshole. Maybe asshole's not the best word, but like,
it is, it's just kind of how those things work. And I mean, first of all, I did laugh at him
telling one of his friends at this anniversary party that Lisa owns a mediocre tequila company. Like,
that's, that's a good dig. I mean, a Vita tequila dig. Like, we can, I'm always okay with that.
But then when Angie at this dinner is trying to change the subject away from this, you know,
Sean and Meredith, you know, kerfuffle.
And she's like, oh, let's talk about, oh, like, Brownwin, your daughter Gwen is reconnecting
with her grandparents.
Isn't that nice?
And Bronwyn is clearly trying to explain why this is more complicated in a way that is in
and of itself complicated for her to formulate the words.
Meanwhile, while she's trying to get the words out, Todd is like, nope, nope, nope, nope, nope.
that's what it is.
You know, she hasn't.
It's a fact.
It's over.
We're not going to talk about it.
And like, I understand if you want to be protective and defensive of your wife.
But in that moment, it really felt like he stepped over a line and was just kind of trying to squash it.
And kind of in the process, he silenced Bronwyn.
I mean, she was like, she was working through her feelings about that.
And he didn't let her.
And, you know, he says later in the episode that he wouldn't do this kind of trip again.
He doesn't want to have this conflict at his anniversary.
I get that.
But, I mean, when you're on Housewives and you're planning like your anniversary or your birthday
or your charity dinner or whatever as a Housewives event, you kind of sign away the right
for it to be like chill and happy and calm, like you have to just get on board with that.
They can do a nice anniversary dinner anytime they want without the cameras.
Like, I'm sure they will and I'm sure they have with another big,
ugly diamond necklace. Not ugly. It didn't go with the dress. It was, right? Like, I don't know.
But Todd, yeah, that energy. I'm just, I'm not loving. I'm not loving that. And in the,
in the season, midseason preview, we get like a little bit more of an inkling of, of more of that.
And I, I just like, we got to be careful with these husbands. I don't, I don't, I don't love that.
But Bronwyn and Lisa not going too well later in this episode.
Bronwyn really just wants a fair shake when it comes to Lisa's friendship between her and Heather.
And, you know, Lisa's just not the kind of person that you're going to have an easy road with that.
You know, Lisa, Lisa is Lisa and she, nobody else is ever going to be more important to her than Lisa.
And it is what it is.
But I love, I like Bronwyn a lot.
I'm enjoying her on the show.
And I think that she is, you know, still in a pretty good position coming out of this trip because
she planned a trip that everybody enjoyed.
And aside from making Lisa Barlow Fly Coach,
it went pretty well, I guess.
I don't know.
Also, is 17C coach?
I don't know how big of a plane this is,
but like, babe, like, if you're in the back of the plane,
you know, you might be in the 40s.
17 is usually like, I don't know,
like comfort plus at least.
I don't know.
It's also like it's an hour flight.
God, at Lisa Barlow,
I mean, this is this season's,
version of I have glam in San Trope. I have glam in Monaco. Like Lisa Barlow is saying that she hasn't
flown coach since college. First of all, like, okay, I'm jealous. Like, my ass is in the back of the
plane. But also, it's like, does she not know, like, how this makes her look? Like, I guess it's,
like, funny slash, like, maybe it's, like, iconic for her to complain about flying and coach,
but also it's like, you look like a baby. Oh, I don't know, but being back in Salt Lake next week,
I think will be a nice kind of level set for this cast.
They've been on two trips already this season.
Like, they're traveling a lot.
And I'm interested to see sort of like how the dynamics settles back down,
especially when we have Mary and Heather and Brittany back in the group, Maley, maybe.
I don't know.
Is she still on the show?
I can't really tell.
But anyway, Salt Lake, always doing a good job.
They are kind of the gold standard at this point.
So I'm excited to see what they have cooking up for the rest of the season.
On that note, we will be back next week.
