Mention It All - The RHODubai Report Card

Episode Date: September 4, 2024

Coming in hot from the holiday weekend, Dylan brings news of Phaedra’s Dancing With The Stars casting, as well as Mauricio’s Netflix cancellation. Then, he discusses Tamra Judge’s facial journey..., and why being open about plastic surgery is smart on many levels. Later, it’s RHODubai finale week, and as the season comes to a close, Dylan tries to make sense of where it all went wrong for Ayan and Lesa. Will things finally make sense after the reunion? We can only hope so, but it seems unlikely. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices

Starting point is 00:00:28 Betches Media presents Ha ha laugh funny Mention It All A Bravo by Betches podcast We don't say that But now we said it With me, Dylan Hafer We're going to check me both
Starting point is 00:00:42 Hey everyone Welcome back to the mention at all podcast Oh, it's Wednesday It's starting to feel like fall I hope everyone had a great Labor Day weekend I hope you enjoyed my episode About the Rachel Zoe Project We have deemed our little series
Starting point is 00:01:01 of, you know, side quests and deep dives and random topics and things like that, the alley behind MIA. We are going to have some more kind of miscellaneous episodes and things coming up later in the fall, got some vacation dates planned and stuff like that. So we are planning some really fun stuff. We're going to get to some listener questions. We're going to have some deep dives. We're going to have some extra recaps and things like that.
Starting point is 00:01:26 So definitely hope you enjoyed that. Let us know if there are specific topics you are. are interested in and we are kind of, we're always looking for things to add to the schedule. You know, we've got the end of the year. The holidays are honestly just right around the corner now. So there's some interesting little slots in the schedule that I hope to fill with stuff that you guys are going to really enjoy. Today, of course, we're talking about the Real Housewives of Dubai finale. I didn't get a chance to talk about last week's episode. So we have kind of like a little bit of a end of season rush on Dubai to kind of figure out where all the puzzle pieces are.
Starting point is 00:02:00 and I gotta say, I still have some questions after watching that finale. But first, we have some exciting news. Fadra Parks on Dancing with the Stars. Who would have thought? There's an interesting lineage of Bravo Lebrides on Dancing with the Stars. It feels like something that is still a little bit random.
Starting point is 00:02:23 Like, it's not... A lot of iconic housewives have done it. You know, of course, Erica, Lisa, we have, you know, Teresa did poorly. Kenya did well. There's been a bunch. It's not rare for a housewife to do dancing with the stars, but it does still feel like something that is a little bit outside of the standard deviation.
Starting point is 00:02:46 You know, there's not a housewife on it every single year. It's not something where there, you know, there's not 50 housewives that have done dancing with the stars. This is season 35, I think, of dancing with the stars. and there's probably like maybe a dozen total housewives that have done it. So it still is like a pretty, a pretty exclusive club when you think about it. Lisa Rina did Dancing with Stars before she was even a housewife. God, how time flies. Maricio, of course, I think was the most recent housewife adjacent person.
Starting point is 00:03:17 By the way, I'm already getting sidetracked. It's one of those days. Maricio's Netflix show canceled after two seasons. I never actually sat down and watched buying Beverly Hills. I watched a lot of clips of buying Beverly Hills. I had people tell me it was good and that I needed to watch it. I stood strong. I resisted the urge.
Starting point is 00:03:40 Actually, I just never had the urge. That's why I didn't watch it. But it is not coming back for a third season. I think people were a little surprised by this just because it seems like the kind of show that is probably pretty inexpensive to produce. The main cast is just a family. and then some people who work for that family. So it's not like with Housewives
Starting point is 00:04:00 where you're trying to wrangle this cast and figure out who in the state of New Jersey could possibly be on the show. It seemed like a pretty ready-made kind of thing. And of course, this last season ended up getting quite a bit of press because we got more information about Maricio and Kyle's separation
Starting point is 00:04:16 than we did on Housewives. But clearly this show did not satisfy whatever internal kind of data calculations Netflix is doing. It's a total. mystery. Kyle did say on Amazon Live, of course, she's always on there, hawking something and usually dropping some tidbits. She said that the girls, the daughters, who are on that show, were not that upset that it didn't get picked up. She said that it was always, it was stressful for them to do the show, that being on TV isn't something that they particularly, you know,
Starting point is 00:04:52 wanted, needed in their lives, their business women who are selling real estate and the show was something to do kind of on top of that. So it, I mean, of course, Kyle is going to like shield her daughters and say like, they're fine, they're good. I'm sure there were some, uh, some hurt feelings in that family over that show not getting picked up. But at the end of the day, it is what it is. I didn't watch it, so I'm not that sad. But back to dancing with the stars. Wow, what a, what a tangent. Fadra is going to be on Dancing with the Stars. And this was predicted last week because, okay, so for Dancing with the Stars, they always do this big cast reveal. Usually it's on like Good Morning America because, you know, ABC, Disney, whatever synergy.
Starting point is 00:05:39 But they start teasing it like a week in advance. And of course, before the announcement, the Stars have already started training for the season. Because, you know, this show premieres in like a week or two and you can't learn everything they need to learn. in a week or two. So they start doing the training. They're in LA. And, you know, they train in a studio space. L.A. is not the kind of place where it's easy to just, like, not be seen if somebody's trying to see you, walking, you know, walking from the car to the studio and all of that. So they do a lot of shenanigans to try and keep these people's identities hidden. But I did see last week, somebody had snapped a photo of a, a short woman wearing some kind of cloak,
Starting point is 00:06:23 very traitor-y, you know, maybe an umbrella over part of her face. But you could see just like a little bit of an outline of something. And I saw that I can't, I can't remember where I saw it. It was probably a TikTok. Somebody had predicted that it was Fadra. And of course, now we know they were correct. I don't know that I think Fadra is going to do
Starting point is 00:06:42 super well on Dancing with the Stars. I think that she will definitely be entertaining in the little clip package that they put together of them learning the dance because you know the second that she is dancing with the partner. She's going to be like, ooh, I like to dance up on a man. She's going to be like, you know, she's going to make it a little flirty, a little sexy. She's going to have a good time with it. She's going to laugh at herself. But at the end of the day, want to do well, you know, I don't think that she's going to make a all the way. But I hope that she makes it a few weeks so we get some kind of like maybe a
Starting point is 00:07:21 trader's themed dance, maybe like a housewife themed dance. I want to get like some good Fadra content. And she's dancing with Val, who I feel like is, I mean, he's, he's been on the show forever. He also is the brother of Max who was on traders with Fadra. So I hope that Max is going to be there. I don't think Max is on the show anymore. Is Max on the show? Is Max on the the show anymore? No, he's not. People who care so much about Dancing with the Stars, I will not say anything negative because, of course, I do host a Bravo podcast and, like, those who live in glass podcasts shouldn't throw stones at other podcasts. But Dancing with the Stars is something where I've never been able to work up more than, like, a passing interest. Like, if there's
Starting point is 00:08:12 somebody on it that I really like, like, you know, if... I'm trying to even think who. When Ariana was on Dancing with the Stars, like that was fun. I was like checking in. I was watching her dances. I remember like when Simone Biles did it probably like eight years ago now.
Starting point is 00:08:27 I was like, oh, fun. There's a couple of Olympians this time. The, the pommel horse gymnast guy, Stephen Netta Roshik, Ilan Omar, the rugby player. She's going to be on there. Both Jen and what's his name? Joey, the most recent,
Starting point is 00:08:46 Bachelor and Bachelorette are both doing Dancing with the Stars this season. And again, like I said, it's the like Disney ABC synergy is really strong. They, you know, they want to get their talent in the door. If Fadre can dance, so can Joey and Jen. I feel like having both of them on the same season is like you're getting a little greedy. You're dipping your hand into the honeypot one too many times. And it's like, chill. The Bachelorette girlies are going to watch if Joey's,
Starting point is 00:09:16 on putting Jen on there in the same season. It's too much. I would have rather had like the golden bachelor's or somebody like a little more interesting. And again, I don't watch the bachelorette. I haven't watched The Bachelorette in a long time. And just like with Dancing with the stars, I will not throw stones at those who do watch and love and keep up with The Bachelorette. I just feel like they could have rounded out this cast better. But speaking of rounding out the cast, Anna Delvey will be there. And in her cast photo, she is, in fact, wearing her ankle monitor.
Starting point is 00:09:49 So she is still on, she must have the most lenient house arrest in the history of house arrest because I feel like this girl is everywhere. And I know that she's not technically everywhere. Like, I've seen that she did photo shoots on the rooftop of her apartment building,
Starting point is 00:10:06 which I suppose is within the perimeter. She's been out on the fire escape. I'm sure she's like allowed to go, I don't know, get groceries and cigarettes or whatever when she's in New York City. But now, Dancing with the Stars tapes in L.A., she's presumably in L.A., rehearsing, doing some press, whatever, she just was allowed to get back on running her own social media. I don't know what is like the long-term status of Anna Delvey, but I thought she was going to get deported. I thought Anna Delvey was like the next Joe Judice, not in really any other sense, but the fact that she
Starting point is 00:10:41 to my knowledge is not an American citizen. And once she was like done with her conviction that she was probably going to be sent back to Germany, I think is where she's from. I don't know. Just Anna Delvey on Dancing with the Stars. I don't know how I feel about that. Look, it's better than when they had like Sean Spicer on there. Or like, did Kelly and Conway do Dancing with the Stars? Or am I making that up? I don't know. It's too early in the morning for me to be remembering who was on Dancing with the stars like seven years ago, but that's probably for the best. So let's just move on and talk about Tamara Judge's face. Study and play. Come together on a Windows 11 PC. And for a limited time, college students get

Starting point is 00:12:26 So she's being very open and honest about the work she has on, which I appreciate. But she has been posting through it. Posting through it partially because I'm sure that she made some sort of agreement with the team who performed her work. I don't know if she got it for free or if she got a steep discount or if there just is some kind of handshake agreement. but she's been posting, tagging, giving details, giving updates in a way that implies goods and services were bartered for. But Tamara had a browlift, a CO2 laser treatment, and a blue chemical peel. And let me just say that she looks freaky.
Starting point is 00:13:11 it's giving the blue peel in particular, I think, is what is really jarring the most because whatever blue chemicals that they use to peel, then cause your face to peel and look fucking blue. And also from whatever combination of stuff she had done, her face is quite swollen. So her face is like a, it's like reddish blue from the bruises, but then bluish blue from the chemicals. So it's kind of like a purply blue, sort of like a, do you remember back in 2014 when like galaxy print was a thing? And it was like, oh, there's like galaxy print leggings and galaxy print, you know, blankets and whatever. It's kind of like that color story, but then with like a human face underlaid beneath it. It's not great.
Starting point is 00:14:03 It's a little freaky. And she's posted several videos for in the last few days. And she's like, day three, this is supposed to be the worst. And then the next day, she's like, okay, so it turns out that that was actually day two, and now it's day three, and it is worse. So hopefully this is the worst. And now I think she's around the corner a little bit. But just I don't love this thing of posting through it to a degree that, first of all, you know you're going to get a lot of attention.
Starting point is 00:14:33 And this, I think Caroline Stanbury, last year, if you recall, when she had her face, I think that she really, in a way, kind of figured out a playbook for this. Because Stanbury, when she got her facelift, she looked rough. And she was posting all these videos. There were videos, it was like Sergio was documenting his wife and he was like crying because she looked so bad. And then it was funny at one point. And then she started to look better. And then she fully healed and like the ugly duckling who turned into the swan, it was like surprised bitch. Now I look younger than ever. It's over for you, hoes.
Starting point is 00:15:13 You saw me looking at my ugliest after I had the surgery. Wait two weeks. Voila. You can't tell me nothing. And I think that this is like a pretty brilliant PR strategy. Because first of all, when all is said and done, you're going to look great. That's prong one. Prong two, while you're looking bad, you're going to get.
Starting point is 00:15:40 so much attention. And this is the kind of thing with somebody like Tamara Judge, with somebody like Caroline Stanbury, who is a public figure, a Bravo Leopardy of a pretty long tenure, they are going to get tabloid coverage out the wazoo from this. They're going to get page six. They're going to get daily mail. They're going to get us weekly. And all of those tabloids are going to be like, Tamara Judge shares harrowing, you know, blue peel experience, but while, you know, she's healing. I'm on page six right now, and I did a little search. And just in the last few days, we have Tamara Judge shows facial swelling after plastic surgery. New article. Tamara Judge savagely roasted by mom over plastic surgery recovery. Quote, your face literally makes me want to throw up. That was another one. She posted the screenshot. And then we have another article that seems to be a duplicate of the one I just read, but it's posted an hour later. And then we have Tamara Judge's mom roasts her plastic surgery look, quote, you look homeless.
Starting point is 00:16:58 So that's a video version of a similar article. So just from that one outlet alone, she has gotten four different articles. and I'm just going to guess, just going to venture a guess that it's similar everywhere. And looking, yeah, we have People Magazine, page 6, Yahoo, E, she's getting coverage everywhere. And so prong two, aside from looking good, she gets a ton of attention and she likes attention.
Starting point is 00:17:29 And then prong three, I mean, after, I guess this is technically prong four, because prong one was you're getting the thing for free or for a steep discount because you're posting about it. But then prong four, and this I think is key, is that you're getting, there are going to be, of course, some people who are like, why would you do this? It's so vain, it's so shallow you looked fine before.
Starting point is 00:17:52 But you're going to get a lot of people who are like, wow, what an open and honest queen. She stays keeping it real. Other girls would just tell you that they're doing a skincare routine. and you really gave us the behind the scenes tea. You're a girl's girl. You're not acting.
Starting point is 00:18:12 You're not pretending. You're not lying to us. Slay queen for keeping it 100. And I think that this is a key point because on social media especially, but just like in the public eye in general, I think there's this idea that people can do whatever they want as long as they're honest about it. It's like, we love when housewives are like, yeah, this is exactly what we're. I've had done. What we don't love is when people are like, how dare you say I've had a nose job? And I think that Tamara and Stanbury and other people who have done this too, it's a smart kind of move because they're, like I've said, there are all these other benefits, but also you just
Starting point is 00:18:52 are never going to get accused of keeping things secret, even if you have kept something secret. And you also then have cachet to accuse other people of keeping things secret. So I think that this is a win-win for Tamara, as long as long as. of course, the blueness and the spelling eventually goes down. She looks like, I don't know if anybody watched that Mother God documentary that was on HBO earlier this year. I think it was earlier this year, maybe last year, about that woman with the cult who her whole thing was ingesting colloidal silver. And then at a certain point, it was like, oh, a bitch has colloidal silver poisoning. And she literally was turning like grayish
Starting point is 00:19:32 blue and that's how she died. I'm not saying that Tamara ingested colloidal silver, but I'm saying that that's what it looks like. And so I hope she's looking, I hope she's looking back to normal, but even better next time I see her, because these photos are a little jarring, and I think I've seen enough. But speaking of enough, I have spoken enough about things that are not real housewives of Dubai because it is their season finale, and I want to give these girls their due, because they put in a lot of work this season. And while I don't think it was a perfect season, I think that they, they understand the assignment and they are, I think they're like that student where they might not be the smartest cookie. They're not the sharpest tool in the shed, as Sabrina Carpenter would say.
Starting point is 00:20:23 But they care about trying to do a good job. and they're going to stay up late doing the homework and they might still only get a B on the exam. Like their ceiling might be a B but it's a B
Starting point is 00:20:39 where you can tell that they put their all into it and it's not an A student who just didn't try that hard. And I think that this season of Dubai, it's all right. And I think that if people are giving up on it and deciding that they don't care,
Starting point is 00:20:54 I think that that is fine. you're allowed to do whatever you want, but I think that if we had a season of a more established franchise that was of similar quality to this season of Dubai, I think that people would be like, good, not great. I don't think that this is a season that would inspire people to, you know, storm the castle and demand a reboot. But that being said, I also have struggled at certain points to care about this season.
Starting point is 00:21:24 And I think that part of what it comes down to now that we've seen the full season, of course, with the reunion still left to go, is that some of the big feuds within the cast, as we get to the end of the season, we're watching these feuds unfold in real time. And they filmed this finale more than a year ago, now close to a year and a half ago. And I still don't feel like I have enough information relevant. information. I don't feel like I have explanations for some of the stuff that's happening. And that is frustrating because it feels like if I watched 13, 14 episodes of the season and I'm waiting for something to pay off, if it doesn't pay off, you do sort of feel like maybe you've wasted your time a little bit. Now, I'll get to the Ayan and Lisa of it all, because that I think is very interesting. But I think that the first order of business is we got to talk about Brooks and Tallinn.
Starting point is 00:22:21 because the entire time this season has been airing. And I've interviewed both of these women. They've both been on the podcast. If you want to go back and listen to these Dubai interviews, they're interspersed throughout June, July. They hate each other. They've been at each other's throats on social media. I mean, Caroline Brooks is,
Starting point is 00:22:43 she's going to be the last person using X.com. I swear to God. You know, Twitter X just got banned in Brazil. it's terrible. People should, you know, free speech, all of that. If X.com ever gets banned in the United Arab Emirates, Caroline Brooks is going to have so much time on her hands. Maybe that, maybe, maybe that would be the best thing for her business. I don't know. I mean, great businesswoman, glasshouse expanding around the world, I'm sure. But the thing with Tallina Brooks is it's felt strange because we watched them go through this roller coaster on the season. But, around the Bali trip, they seemed to get back to a fine page with each other. And through the end of this finale, we kind of stay there. Even to the point where we're on this golf staycation thing that Tallinn arranged for the group. And it's the next morning after this dinner where Brooks was mad at Lisa for having decals that made it look like it was her spa when it was really just a Mina Rose. skincare event at somebody else's spot again. Who the fuck cares? But so Tallinn went in on Lisa at this dinner and she says the next morning that she felt like she was defending Brooks the night before. And Stanbury has to be like, babe, that's all well and good. But like you were doing too much.
Starting point is 00:24:08 Like you don't need to be screaming at her over something that didn't concern you in the first place. And, you know, Caroline Brooks is doing her whole song and dance about how it's weird that you want to make it look like it was your spa and blah, blah, blah, blah, blah. And whatever. I think. feel like she's trying to make something out of nothing for a moment on the show, which is kind of her, her emo over the course of these two seasons. But through all of that, suddenly Talene is like Brooks's soldier on the side again. And I'm like, wait, wait, wait. Okay, so that happened. But then like, what happened after filming to make them hate each other so much again? So now I'm like, okay, I'm making my reunion checklist. We have to get some answers about what happened with Brooks
Starting point is 00:24:53 and Tallinn because I feel like from watching the show, there's been nothing. I think that's the problem because with Ayan and Lisa, it feels like we're missing some stuff too. So we're starting to get, you know, more inklings. You know, the Bali trip was kind of the first big outburst we saw between them. And it was like, okay, there's this weird voice memo thing. Lisa said she doesn't trust Ayan. Ayan is crying because her best friend in the world said she doesn't trust her. Sure, sure, sure. But then by the end of that trip, it was like, okay, it seems like we're kind of back.
Starting point is 00:25:28 Seems like we're in an okay place. Maybe not amazing. But fine. There was no more screaming arguments. And it's like, okay, is this where we're going to leave off? We knew that there was something coming in the finale. And as much as I want to have a clear description of what happens in the finale, again, it's a little weird. So Ayan and Lisa, we see them hang out one-on-one.
Starting point is 00:25:57 And Ayan says that after this like girl's staycation where there was this issue, Ayan talked to Lisa about the other women saying that she always feels like Ayan has to take Lisa's side. and Lisa didn't want her to bring this up with the group. So Ayan is feeling like Lisa is controlling as a friend that when they were like a dynamic duo, that was okay. But now that she's building these relationships with other women in the group, she feels like she's kind of being held back under Lisa's thumb. And this clearly is some kind of trigger for Lisa.
Starting point is 00:26:34 Because then later at this party, which I'm going to get into, Lisa's like, I thought we weren't talking about that. She doesn't want this narrative that she is a controlling friend. and that she is telling eye on who she can and can be friends with, she doesn't want that to be on the show. I don't know if it relates back to something deeper that we're not hearing about. That would kind of seem to make it make more sense. But at the same time, I feel like with these two,
Starting point is 00:27:01 I don't know if it actually makes sense. I don't know if there's anything there. But it's weird. So good, so good, so good. Everything you want for summer is at Nordstrom Rack stores now and up to 60% off. Stock up and save on the brands you love like Vince, Sam Edelman, Frame, and Free People. Join the Norty Club to unlock exclusive discounts, shop new arrivals first, and more.
Starting point is 00:27:30 Plus, buy online and pick up at your favorite rack store for free. Great brands, great prices. That's why you rack. Girl, winter is so last season. And now Springs got you looking at pictures of tank tops with hungry eyes. Your algorithm is feeding you cutoffs. You're thirsty for the sun on your shoulders. That perfect hang on the patio sundress.
Starting point is 00:27:54 Those sandals you can wear all day and all night. And you've had enough of shopping from your couch. Done hoping it looks anything like the picture when you tear up on that envelope. It's time for a little in-person spring treat. It's time for a trip to Ross. Work your magic. It's summer in Dubai. We have this beach day to finish out the staycation.
Starting point is 00:28:15 Talene and Lisa start to have a little apology moment because Talene is mad that Lisa called her a bitch and Lisa is like, look, I'm sorry I called you a bitch but to be honest, you annoy the fuck out of me. And this did make me laugh because I'm like, okay, work, I guess. It's an interesting apology. To be like, I'm sorry for that one thing, but I also still don't like you. It's pretty honest.
Starting point is 00:28:43 and then Sarah is like trying to be the interpreter which is just a mode that I don't enjoy watching her and when she's like well Lisa you know you you I think I think the issue is that you're saying she didn't have the business and she's like I have a fitness business telling whatever she's like is this so is this an apology or what and then Lisa says well you can't be bitchy and not expect to be called a bitch so okay we're back at square one with these two and again Tallene and Lisa, who cares? They're not like besties. They never were.
Starting point is 00:29:18 So if they're fighting, it's kind of like neither here nor there. Lisa leaves, and this is when the other women are really telling her that she's Lisa's puppet, so she's kind of getting in her head about it. Whatever. Meanwhile, everybody's making their summer plans.
Starting point is 00:29:33 Lisa, Lisa's husband is trying to buy a farm in the Cotswolds. And so she has this conversation with Stanbury. Stanbury's mom is trying to sell a farm in the Cotswolds, but their farm ambitions are not compatible. So it's not going to happen. Whatever. I love just watching all of them list the places they're going in the summer. It's like, well, you know, Maldives, Seychelles, Amalfi Coast, Micanos, New York, Miami, Seychelles again, Maldives again, London, Paris, Paris again, Paris again, Paris again.
Starting point is 00:30:10 And it's like, I get stressed out when I'm traveling for one full week. I'm like, am I bringing, am I checking a bag? Am I bringing a carry on? How many pairs of shoes can I fit in the suitcase? Like, the way that these women travel, and I know that we are not in the same tax bracket, so it's not comparable, it just stresses me out. But I do like, maybe I've said this before, but somebody gave me the advice one time that if you're, if you're making small talk with a rich person, one of the best ways to keep the conversation going is just to ask
Starting point is 00:30:47 them about where they've traveled recently because they'll just like launch it into a, oh, well, you know. And the realist experience I've had of that was one time when I was with Meredith Marks at an event for her jewelry and other adjacent brands. And it was like in the summer and I was like, oh, how's your summer? It's just like, oh, well, you know, business. traveling. It's like, well, you know, Paris, New York, then spending some time in New York again, and then go, go to Europe, and then blah, blah, blah, blah, blah.
Starting point is 00:31:19 And I'm just like, I'm just, I've just been here sweating. So that's, take that little, take that little tip to go. But Sarah, before the summer is trying to figure out her situation with Akeen. And the thing is, like, it's been so clear for six weeks now that the situation with Akeen is just that he sucks. But she's like, oh, yeah, you know, I, I, I, I just, you know, I want to figure out, like, if he's going to be controlling and he's going to be in Germany, you know, I'm looking for a husband. And it's like, you're laying out all the reasons why this isn't meant to work. She calls him. She's going to tell him that they're taking a break, but then he hangs up on the FaceTime call. No surprise there. He sucks. Again, he just sucks. He just sucks. Sometimes that's the answer. He's a fuck boy. He's stupid.
Starting point is 00:32:02 So that's the end of that for now. Turns out they're still talking, but he hasn't visited Dubai again. I'm like, this guy is never going to give you what you want. Point blank period. Wrapping up some more loose ends, Stanbury has decided she doesn't want a kid right now, and now Sergio seems to be more on the same page. They're putting a pin in it. They're maybe going to do a surrogate in the future, which is legal in the UAE now.
Starting point is 00:32:27 Congratulations to them. Let's never talk about it again. Which brings us to the final party. Stanbury and Ayan are throwing this Queens-slash-Goodby- Dubai party at this rich guy's ridiculous house that's on the palm. First of all, how many older super rich guys with big houses does Caroline Stanbury know? Because just this season, it's like she was living at this guy Michael's house. And now she's throwing a party at this other guy's house.
Starting point is 00:32:58 It's like, who are these people? Where are these men coming from? Is there a way that I can get one of these houses? Like, I don't know. But this house and this party, it reminds me of, if you've watched Parks and Recreation, when Tom Haverford starts that business called Entertainment 720, and it's like this big, fancy, empty room with just, like, ridiculous furniture and crazy lights and, like house music and it's so unclear what anybody's actually doing there or like what the what the
Starting point is 00:33:40 business of the business is and that's what this guy's house reminds me of there's a fucking bugatti parked in the living room we're still doing the the waitresses wearing the table as the skirt with like the hors d'oeuvres just arranged on this platform around them how are we doing that in 24. Can we put the food either on a tray that someone is carrying or on a surface that just is sitting somewhere at the party? I don't want to see the women as tablecloths thing anymore. I don't want to see us eating sushi off of naked women. I feel like we have just progressed past the women being part of the furniture. I don't want to see somebody sitting on a chair that's a person. It just is, it's weird. And why is there a Bugatti in the living room? It's like
Starting point is 00:34:31 when you have too much money and you don't know what to do with it and you're like, okay, so I have to spend a million dollars by tomorrow. What can I do? Bugatti in the living room, done. But then they make them watch this weird video. Ion and Stanbury being BFFs. I don't have a problem with it. I just think that it feels a little bit like
Starting point is 00:34:50 when Velma and Roxy are like performing together at the end of Chicago. And it's like, okay, we know they still like, they're doing this because they need attention, right? They're not doing this because they're like braiding each other's hair and making friendship bracelets. I just think I would be surprised if by next season we're not seeing some kind of
Starting point is 00:35:11 drift between them because it just I don't see them as compatible actual friends. And picturing them like hanging out without the cameras, I just like really struggled to see that. But anyway, we watched this video. Lisa also thinks it's weird that Stanbury and Ion are BFFs all of a sudden.
Starting point is 00:35:33 And then we get this weird game of telephone where Ayan asks Lisa to come talk to her. And she's basically, no, I'm going, I'm going to stay here. So then Talene tells Lisa that Ayan is annoyed. And Lisa's like, wait, why? Why is she annoyed? So she goes outside to find Ayan. And this is when they really get into it. Because Ayan says that the women feel like she's different around her.
Starting point is 00:35:57 And Lisa's like, I thought we agreed. We weren't going to talk about this. And then Lisa says that Ayan is trying to throw her under the bus and that it happened in Bali and it's happening now and that, you know, Ayan just wants to make her look bad. And this is when we get, I mentioned the farm in the Cotswolds and Caroline Stanbury's mom's farm and it comes back around. And it's so strange because essentially Lisa had had this conversation with Stanbury where the idea of going to see her mom's farm had come up. and then Stanbury talked to Ayon about this conversation and Ayan is saying that Stanbury said that Lisa was bragging about how she could just buy Stanbury's mom's farm. And then so they get Stanbury involved and Stanbury is like, I didn't say that she was bragging. Ayan is making that up and putting words in my mouth to say that I said this thing about Lisa.
Starting point is 00:37:00 And then so Lisa believes Stanbury over Ayan and now is like, you're a liar, you're a liar, you're a liar, you're throwing me under the bus, you're throwing Stanbury under the bus, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah. And I'm like, wait, wait, wait, wait. So Ayan is BFFs with Stanbury now, but she's allegedly putting words in Stanbury's mouth. and then when it comes to Ayon versus Stanbury, even Lisa is trusting Stanbury over her BFF Ayon. Caroline Stanbury must be thrilled with this. She must be like, oh, wait, they both want to be friends with me. I'm not the, neither of them are mad at me.
Starting point is 00:37:42 Works for me. Caroline Brooks is loving it because she's like, these girls are fighting and it has nothing to do with me. which I actually think she should be happy about that because like she needed that. But they're like chasing each other around this party, screaming at each other, screaming that they're both done. Lisa says the show is not worth it to her, which I'm like,
Starting point is 00:38:03 what does that even really mean? This doesn't feel like it's about the show unless it is about the show. And then I'm interested in that, but I don't think we've gotten that. Lisa calls Ayan a liar like 45 times. And then that's basically the end of it. In our little final cards about updates for everyone, it says that Lisa reached out to Ayan numerous times over the summer and that Ayan hasn't responded.
Starting point is 00:38:25 We know that throughout the promotion of this season and throughout it airing, they have not been on good terms. And this is another case in which I'm very intrigued for the reunion because I feel like coming into this season, it was teased so hard that we were going to get like Ayan versus Lisa. and we really only did in like two or three isolated episodes because there was the voice note thing that happened in Bali, which was like the end of one episode and then one more episode. And then they patched things up and things seemed to be better. And then this big explosion during the finale was really quite contained. and it didn't feel at least, you know, with the information that we have now, it didn't feel that connected to the whole rest of the season or what happened in season
Starting point is 00:39:21 one or really anything. It felt so sudden. And so I'm hoping at the reunion that we can get a little bit more of a bigger picture understanding of where did things really start to go wrong. maybe for Ayan, when was it first clicking for her that maybe she didn't like the way Lisa was handling relationships with the rest of the group? When did Lisa start to have doubts about trusting Ayan and what led her to believe Stanbury over Ayan in the finale? It feels like that had to be coming from somewhere. Suddenly for a show that I sort of only medium cared about,
Starting point is 00:40:03 I'm like, this reunion actually feels important. And it feels like, not. just for enjoyment purposes, but also as a franchise, if they are wanting a third season and thinking about a potential third season, that they have the chance to use this reunion to kind of like thread a lot of needles and sort of keep the ball in the air in a lot of different ways. And I hope they're able to do it because I always want a really entertaining reunion. But based on the way that these women kind of go about things, I feel like we're going to get a lot of pomp and no circumstance. And I don't know if that actually makes sense. But like, I feel like we're going to get a lot of talk. We're, you know, we're going to get people waving receipts in the air,
Starting point is 00:40:47 but then we're not actually going to see any receipts that make a difference. That's my sort of prediction for this Dubai reunion. I hope that I'm wrong.
