Betches Media presents.
Ha ha, laugh, funny.
Mention It All, a Bravo by Betches podcast.
We don't say that, but now we said it.
With me, Dylan Hafer.
Who's on check me, though?
Hey, everyone.
Welcome back to the Mention at All podcast.
I'm Dylan Hafer, and today I am so excited to be joined in the studio by someone I have wanted to talk to for a long time,
and she is very booked and busy these days.
She is a lawyer.
She is a woman of many, many.
jobs and she is on married to medicine. She is on The Traders. It is Ms. Fadra Parks. Oh, thank you,
Dylan, for such a lovely introduction. How are you doing? You are so, you're on Peacock,
you're on Bravo, you're booked and busy. How is 2024 so far for Fadra Parks?
It has been incredible, very busy, but super incredible. I have, I have traveled since, I think,
the 6th of January. So I have been on the road and I will not get off and
until February. So yeah, so very exciting. I was thinking, I was looking back at sort of like
the dates. Then you were on Real Housewives of Atlanta for the first season in 2010, I think,
was the first, yeah, was your first season. 2009. You filmed in 2000, okay. Yeah, you filmed in
nine. I think it came out November of 2009. Okay. So it's been like 15 years of this
journey for you. Well, really more than that, because before Housewives, I did.
I was one of the producers and somewhat on air talent for Tiny and Toyo on BT.
Of course, I did Being Bobby Brown, which was on Bravo.
So that's how I met Andy and the whole Bravo universe.
So what does it feel like?
Because obviously there have been, you know, there have been years where you were off of our screens or you were, you know, doing other things.
Like I said, you have a lot going on in different areas.
What is it like after, you know, a couple decades now to be in this place where you're on traders,
you're on married to medicine, you're a girl's trip twice.
Yes.
What does it feel like to have all that going on now?
Well, I mean, I think now with my children being older, my son, Aiden, Prince Aidan is 13, Mr. President is 10.
And so they're at an age where now, you know, they're, you know, they don't need as much attention.
I'm obviously still parenting, but, you know, they are pretty much independent little young men and I can move around a little bit more.
And they're super excited because Aiden recalls being on housewives because, you know, he had his first day of school on housewives.
So, you know, both of them were literally born on TV.
Right.
I mean, you were on Housewives for a long time.
Like that wasn't just a blimp.
No, that wasn't.
No, it was a long time.
We saw a lot of the babies.
I mean, it's been interesting this season of married to medicine to see you back on a show that is following your life and to get a little glimpse of your son.
who are, I mean, just like, you have the most like handsome adorable children.
Thank you. Thank you.
Opening up a little bit about some of what you've gone through in the past, everything with your ex.
I think it's been, it's been cool to see Fadra kind of in your natural environment again.
Because we've seen you on, you know, girls' trip and all that stuff.
Yep. So it's been fun.
I mean, I was hesitant to go back into that style of a docu soap.
But my sons actually wanted to do it.
because one remembers, one doesn't, but they thought it would be cool.
And their friends at school, you know, their parents were housewife fans.
And so they were like, we should do it one more time, you know, just give it a try.
So I said, okay, we'll do it.
Married to Medicine is such a, it's such an interesting show to think of joining now in season 10.
Season 10.
They have, they're such an established group.
And, you know, they've had really, very, very.
very few cast changes over the years.
And so I think it was,
it was sort of surprising to hear that you were joining the show,
but at the same time, it was like,
a good shake up.
Oh, that makes sense.
Yeah.
Well, I mean, because I think you've got the core four,
which is Dr. Jackie, Dr. Simone, Dr. Heavenly, and Toya.
And they have been there since day one.
And they've built that franchise up, you know.
But it's always good to just revitalize it with someone new.
You know, of course, you know, I think very much so outside the box.
So they're all, you know, Western practitioners, very conservative.
I got a little wild side to me.
I was, I had a great time being introduced to Reiki Healer Fajor.
Yes.
Man, call me little Lizzo, you know?
You have, it's always something different going on with you.
What was your kind of approach to joining that group, though, that is so established
and they've been in the trenches together for all those years.
Did you approach it kind of just like, this is me, here I am?
Or did you kind of feel like you had to fit in in a certain way?
Well, no, I, you know, I knew them all.
So I had did Jackie's father's body when he passed.
Jackie called me and said, I don't know what to do.
I said, don't worry, I'll handle it all.
I thought that was, I loved hearing about that on the show, by the way, because I didn't know about that.
And it was very, it felt very raw.
Yeah, and no one really knew a lot, you know, because it's not like,
Right, you're not posting on Instagram. Exactly, yeah. Not a big poster. But, and of course, with Dr. Heavenly, I've sent a lot of clients her husband. I've sent him lots of clients. And of course, Dr. Gregory, I met him the first day he arrived in Atlanta. So I have known all of them in different, you know, times, but known them all and have really liked them, but never been very social with them. It's so, you know, been business or give me some advice. And, you know, doctors and lawyers are just so.
sort of hand in hand. But, you know, I really approached it. Let me go in and learn everyone,
give them an opportunity to learn me. Because, of course, you know, a lot of people have this
preconceived notion of who I am based on the housewives, which, of course, it's TV. And, you know,
it's not always what it really is. And it's not always portrayed accurately. So I just came in
subtly. And, you know, it's worked out pretty good because people are like, oh, we want more.
we want more and I'm like well you know
we've got to develop it if that makes sense
you know because you come in too hot honey
right it's not a good thing right
I think it's important to sort of
read the room when you're joining a show like that
and you know you don't want to be
somebody that you're not but at the same time
you don't want to come in and say now it's the
Fager show yeah overly aggressive because
that would not go well with those
women
Mm-hmm
So good
So good so good

Girl, winter is
so last season.
And now Springs got you looking at pictures of
tank tops with hungry eyes.
Your algorithm is feeding you cutoffs.
You're thirsty for the sun on your shoulders.
That perfect hang on the patio sundress.
Those sandals you can wear all day and all night.
And you've had enough of shopping from your couch.
Done hoping it looks anything like the picture when you tear up on that envelope.
It's time for a little in-person spring treat.
It's time for a trip to Ross.
Work your magic.
I want to talk about the trip to Napa Valley.
You're in Wine Country.
So you, on the scene.
season at least, it felt like you had a relationship with Quad and then obviously things
have sort of shifted with her and her place in the group a little bit throughout the season.
So as somebody who is outside of that Core 4 that you were talking about, what was it
like for you to kind of experience what was happening with them and Quad on that trip?
Well, it was hard to watch it because I was sort of getting thrown in the midst of it.
And as you saw, I wanted to help quad.
So I brought it to the Bachelorette party.
And of course, that didn't turn out good.
I let her jump out of one of my new caskets.
That didn't turn out good.
And then it was the Napa trip.
And so everyone was like, well, Thadra's going to bring her because she brings her everywhere.
But because I had watched the tension between her and Toya, and it was very, I'm choosing violence today sort of tension.
I was not going to be the person that brings someone to someone's event that there's obviously
very, very hostile bad vibes.
And so, you know, so you saw where they said, oh, you changed your flight.
I did because it was set up that she and I would fly together, but that wasn't my choosing.
Right.
It makes sense that when you're maybe at home and there's kind of these one-off events that it's like,
okay, like I'll bring her to this one, we'll show up to this one.
but when it's the trip and it's like...
And it's someone that you obviously hate trip.
You know, they're like oil and water.
Brenda was, I mean, to a certain extent,
it was like a Toya's business that she's working on with the wine.
And it is complicated.
And you don't want to be more on the hook than you need to be for something that's going to go left.
Because I was already on the hook.
Yeah.
I was already on the hook for sweet tea, you know,
bachelor's party.
Then, you know, of course, they didn't really appreciate the funeral home resurrection,
you know.
ceremony like I would hope they would have. But I think, you know, so when it came down to
her and Toya, I did not want to be the conduit to a more, you know, disastrous event,
especially when it's someone's business. I'm a business woman. And when you're going somewhere
to promote your business and to obviously, you know, be your best self, you don't want
anyone there that's not going to obviously push you in the direction of being your
best sell. So that's why I said, I, if you come, you'll need to figure out how to get someone
else to invite you because I don't want that on my resume. I thought it was really interesting.
You, you haven't necessarily had the smoothest road with Heavenly this season because there was
that kind of like, you know, Quad had talked to her about some stuff that you had discussed.
But then at the Reiki session, I thought that you guys had a really nice moment where she was talking about
trying to reconnect with her sister. And sort of struggling with how to approach.
that and I felt like you really were able to sort of put aside any differences and talk to her like
on a real level.
Heaven, you know, Heavenly is hellish sometimes, but I really enjoy Heavenly.
She's definitely, yeah, she's a firecracker, but we really understand each other, which sounds
very strange.
But we really understand each other.
And, you know, we really, you know, I think people thought coming in that we would just bump heads,
We really haven't because I understand her position and she sort of understands mine.
And so it was somewhat interesting because we were sort of, you know, she's like, you know,
are you coming after me?
And, you know, I was like, no, because people always assume, you know, oh, you're the shade
when you're going to come after me.
Right.
But I'm like, I only come after people who have come after me.
I just don't shade people just for the fun of it.
That's petty.
Well, I think there's a time and a place for sort of like fun, late shade.
but that doesn't mean that you're that you like hate someone or wish of them like there's kind of a
there's a balance of of keeping it light but also you know having that little shady edge to it
yeah definitely and I feel like married to medicine it's like that's how it always yeah that's that's
that's their lane definitely how much of the show had you watched before you joined because it's I mean
a lot of seasons none of it okay I'd only seen maybe two episodes and it was one where they
I guess they were having some sort of, what was it, a Halloween party.
Okay.
And Anila, they dressed up as the movers.
Oh, yeah.
And I just thought that was so hilarious.
So that was like the only four episode I'd ever watched.
So people said, well, you should go back and watch.
But being a reality, personality, I understand that, you know, what you see on TV is not really always accurate.
So I really wanted to have fresh eyes on everyone.
Because people said, oh, this person's like that.
this person's like that. And I wanted to judge with my own experience with the, you know, each lady.
Yeah. I think it's everybody sort of approaches that differently because I've talked to people that
like, oh, like the second I got cast, like I went to do my research. And I think knowing that you
already knew on some level most of the women, it would be a little weird to sit down and be like,
now I'm going to watch what you've gone through for the last decade. Yeah. Yeah. No, I didn't want to do that.
And also you're busy. I'm very busy. Yeah. So I'm not, yeah, I didn't want to.
want to do that, but also at the same time, I think I wanted to bring in a new revitalization
to the series. And so if I would have really buried myself in their past, I wouldn't have
fresh eyes, if that makes sense. Right. And you don't, you don't want to rely on, oh, I'm,
I'm the new one, but I'm going to bring up something that happened in season five to kind of, you know,
gotcha kind of moment. Yeah, no, I'll never do that. I'm curious with traders, it's a very different
type of show.
But it's, I'm wondering how much did you know about the show before you went on?
Not enough.
It's like, I would have to sit down and like listen to the rules even a few times.
Like, what was that?
Like when you got cast, were they like, okay, so this is the rules of the game or they're like,
it's a castle in Scotland.
Do you want to come or not?
Well, okay.
So they had asked me the first season, but it didn't work for my schedule.
So when they came back to get me to do the second season,
It was Thursday night, 1045, the president of Peacock, Sharon called and said, hey, we've been trying to reach you.
You know, we've called this person.
We want you to be on traders this season.
And I was like, well, you know, when does it start?
She was like, Monday.
So I was like Friday, Saturday, Sunday, Monday.
I have to leave on Monday.
She was like.
This Monday.
Yeah.
And I was like, well, what do you think I can bring to the show?
And she said, think Dynasty.
So anytime I think Ms. Devereaux or Joan Collins, she was like, she was like, spiral staircases, the highlands, Scotland, the castle.
So I was like, ooh, this sounds like something fun.
And, you know, Brandy had been on the show.
She didn't last very long, but she had been on it and said she had a good time.
And but it was so many quick moving parts.
You have to have a physical examination, psychiatric evaluation.
Because it's like, it's different when you get cast on a competition show.
Oh, it's super different.
you're running and digging.
Yeah, EKGs.
I mean, stress tests.
I mean, so, you know, I said, well, let me think about it.
So my mom was like, well, who was that?
And I said, oh, that was the president of Peacock.
She said, asked me what I do, traders.
And she is the biggest trader fan in the world.
She says, no way.
You're doing it, and you can win it.
Cut your nails and cut your hair.
I was like, okay.
So I'm thinking, oh, she's like, and be quiet.
Don't talk too much.
And so the.
next day she showed up and said, get packed, get those doctors' appointments done. And I mean,
I had to hit the ground running because I still had some, you know, commitments for marriage
to medicine. So for like four solid days, it was doctors appointments, psychiatric evaluations,
boom, boom, boom, boom. So I got there, you know, my white fur, my beautiful, you know,
Mosquino suit. And then they said, hey, you're going to be in a river today. Get put on.
a wet suit let's go. I said, what in the world? So it was the hands down. Yeah, it was, I was like,
what about the spiral staircase is walking down and having breakfast? I was like, I want to do that
part. And I was like, no, we do challenges. And I'm like, oh my gosh, what is these challenges
about? But it was so physical. I didn't know the gamers. It was just hands down the best experience
ever. Yeah, Joan Collins never had to be in a wet suit. Yeah, no, Joan Collins never got caught in a
trap. She, she, she never had to fight off snakes or, you know, any flying birds. You know,
none of that. Yeah. So, but it was the best time ever. Mm-hmm. So when you, that first or
first day or whatever it is when they tell you that you're going to be a traitor, what was your,
were you hoping for that? Were you excited for that? Was it like, oh, now I have to like get to work?
Like, well, you know, some people came in obviously wanting to be a trade. I just, to be honest,
I was like this, what an experience, first of all.
My mom had already said she loved this show and she could be proud of it.
So I was like, okay, if I can make my mom proud.
Some of the housewife stuff, she's like, you know, I don't know, these scrimper, you know.
So to me, it was the best thing I could do to have that moment with my parents that they're like, wow, we love this show.
And they had all the faith that I could do it.
So I was like, wow, okay.
So, you know, I was like, okay, whatever.
to be quiet and do it.
And so when he chose me to be a traitor, I was like, well, you know, I am a lawyer.
I know a little bit about being sneaky sometimes.
I personally, I was excited to see you as a traitor.
I think other people felt the same way.
It's so fun because it's, there was like a tweet that I saw somebody post that was like,
People think that the housewives on traders just have like no experience with strategy or no kind of, you know, they think it's like big brother, survivor.
They're going to come in and like just dominate the game.
And it's like, I don't know how much you know about these Bravo shows.
I mean, MJ, she's very fun on the show.
Larsa.
Larsa has got that strategic brain going.
Yeah.
Shire.
How much have you kept up with Shiree over the years?
because it's fun to see you guys back together.
Well, pretty good.
Now, Shiree lives down the street for me.
So we, you know, during COVID, she came over a few times.
We got together.
We go to things together.
So, yeah, we, you know, but Shiree and I knew each other prior to the housewives.
Right.
We really, her ex-husband was my ex-boyfriend's roommate when they were in the NFL.
So, like, we've known each other for decades.
I feel like you and Shiree are both.
like connectors. Like I feel like everybody knows Chiray. Everybody knows you. You go way back.
It's, it's, I feel like the sort of like Atlanta scene is a lot deeper than just like who was on which show.
Yeah, no, no.
For what season. Atlanta's very clicky. And everybody, you know, knows everybody.

It was interesting.
Last year, I don't even know when it was now, but you were on an episode of Real Housewives
of Dubai.
Yes.
And that was fun.
It felt so kind of random in a lovely way.
What was that?
Because I know you mentioned that you were like buying a home in Dubai or had a business
there.
Yes.
Yes.
That's my water business and my Seymos business.
Yes.
It was really fun.
I mean, I love Dubai.
And of course, right now, everyone's like, when do you come back to Dubai?
I'm like, well, I've been so busy in the United States.
I hadn't had a chance.
But then, of course, with all that's going on in that part of the world right now, it hasn't been the smartest thing to do until it's a little more peaceful.
You know, if you're not, obviously, you have to be there.
So, I mean, but it was fun because, of course, the production.
company that does housewives produce Dubai.
Right.
Truly original.
And so when they found out I was in Dubai, they were like, get down here.
Yeah, they were like, can you help us?
Let's let's, you know.
Yeah.
And so I knew, you know, Caroline.
So Caroline was like, I just got casted.
Caroline Brooks, right?
Brooks.
Yeah, but I know Stanberry too.
Yeah.
So Brooks was like, I got casted.
Give me some advice.
And I was just, so I met with them prior to them even filming to just tell
they're like, okay, what makes a great housewife show is real relationships.
So don't put too much in the drama.
Be real.
Make people love you as a person, love your family, and be vested in your success before you go deep into drama land.
Because you can't, you know, no one wants to, you know, just come into just pure drama.
And, you know, some people watching the shows, they don't realize that people come on because you're aspirational, you know, you've got
the clothes, but really true relationships. You're having fun. You're laughing. You really like this
person. And they really want to see something authentic. So it was interesting that, you know, we had
those conversations before they started taking. I think that's such a good point because when you,
when you think about these shows of, you know, you were on Housewives six or seven seasons,
these shows that are on for 10 plus years, you have to have a reason to care more than just,
like it's fun when they yell, you know?
Exactly.
And I think with all the women who we've seen, you know, have kids and those kids grow up and, you know, relationships, ups and downs and businesses and families.
Like there really is that human element that is, that gives you something to hold on to that's more than just like.
Yeah, the fighting.
Yeah.
Definitely.
So was coming into married to medicine, it sounds like maybe that was something that you had to kind of like readjust to.
because when you're on a girl's trip or something,
it's fun to see people bond.
Like I remember it was the trip that you did at Dorinda's house.
Yes, I love Durinda.
It was so fun and so unexpected to see you bonding with Taylor and Hanging out with Tamara and Brandy and all of them.
Like it's a fun thing like that, but then it's a week and then you go back to your life.
Yeah, and you, yeah.
But the interesting thing is being a housewife, it's like a sorority.
So only housewives understand.
and the nature of being a housewife.
And so it's so different from any other show.
It's like being in the arm here, something, I'm sure.
You can ask sweet tea about that.
Yeah.
But, you know, so I love that we're now doing the Ultimate Girl's Trip
because it allows different franchises to get together.
And a lot of us really are friends outside.
Like I love Teresa, Margaret Joseph's.
I really talk to them.
I really go on vacations with them in real life.
not for the camera.
So no one would know that.
But when you put us together in these girls' trips, you can see that.
Yeah.
And you see that there's really something very special about housewives.
I think it's thinking about how long you've been in this world, that's something that I think
has changed a lot, that it used to feel like, okay, we've got the Atlanta ladies here,
we've got New Jersey, we've got, you know, O-C.
But now it does feel like with social media and with BravoCon is.
amazing thing and, you know, the girls trips, that it is this kind of like universe.
Family, yeah.
People love seeing, I mean, at BravoCon, people go crazy for like interactions of, of the different
cast and stuff.
And obviously, I mean, just from the shows you've been on, you have like connections in so many
different places.
It's cool.
Definitely.
I'm curious, kind of like leading from that, I've been asking everyone, how do you feel like
being on reality TV and this like, you know, 15.
plus your journey has changed you as a person?
I don't think it's changed me as a person.
I think it gives you insight on the true nature of people, if that makes sense.
Yeah.
Because you see people at their best, you see people at their worst, but also you understand
that people are very intrigued by celebrity.
And so sometimes you have people come into your life for different reasons,
maybe not good reasons, but just to be near the celebrity of it all. And so it makes you somewhat,
it sharpens your skill. You have to have a sharpened skill for discernment to find out, you know,
who's really for you and, you know, what's really authentic when it comes to these relationships.
Yeah. I think that's a great thing to kind of keep in mind because it's like success is an amazing
thing, but then also you have to, you know, you have to keep your guard up a little bit sometimes.
Most definitely, yes.
Yeah.
Do you think with everything that you've gone through on the show, off the show, every, you know, every show, like, do you feel like it's made you more guarded as a person?
Or do you feel like you can be selective about kind of when to apply that?
Well, I mean, of course, being a Christian, I believe things happen with people.
And I think no one really comes in your miss, but for a specific, you know, I just, I believe the universe worked.
for you. I believe God works for you. So I think people are sent to you on assignment. And I think
I'm sent to people on assignment. Like even with traders, you know, once you watch, you'll see CT and
I were extremely close. Yeah. But it's because we had went through some similar things. And so,
you know, after the show, he's like, you were my traitor angel. And I'm like, I believe I really
was because I had no idea who CT was. I had no idea about what the challenge was. I just knew it was
something about him. We would talk about things. You know, I would give him scriptures, Bible verses,
and, you know, he would encourage me. You know, he wouldn't let me drown. You know, it's a good thing.
You know, so, because, you know, he's like a beast. He's like so physical. And so some of these tasks,
he's like, I will not let them kill you. I'm like, please don't. I have two kids and I'm like,
Gotta make it back to the United States.
But I just think people are assigned to you.
So even with going to Scotland, I'm like, okay, this is an opportunity.
And I'm here for a true purpose.
And so it's up to me to fulfill the purpose of this trip.
And, you know, once you see the whole show, yeah, you'll see, I mean, it was just the best thing ever.
Yeah.
But I'm just so proud of myself because I did it.
I think that's, I think that's like a great sort of lesson to take, whether it's like a, whether you think of it as,
a religion thing or not, just kind of like letting things come to you and maybe not overthinking
it too much. Definitely. I really liked what you said about how part of the reason married to medicine
seemed like the right thing to do is because your kids were excited about it. And like that that's,
you know, kind of like taking stock of where you are in life, where where your, you know,
people are at in your life and kind of like letting things happen for you. Yeah, definitely.
Yeah. That's amazing. Thank you. Well, I'm enjoying the season of married to medicine a lot.
I know we have a lot more to look forward to a trip to go on.
And this next trip is something to see.
How does it feel to be going back to a reunion with Andy?
It's been a long time for that.
It's been a long time.
I mean, but, you know, I've done it so many times.
I'm like, hmm, because we even have a traders reunion too.
Okay.
So I'll do two reunions almost back to back.
Book them busy.
booked and busy.
But I'm excited.
I mean, you know, it does create some anxiety because you just don't know what you expect.
But this is such a different group of women.
I'm like, hmm, because the reunions for housewives used to go from 7 a.m.
to 3 a.m. the next day.
So it was like, woo.
Well, you might have a long day in store at Mary to Mississippi.
Yeah, yeah, because it's a lot going on this year.
Get your caffeine and your glam touch up.
Yes.
Because I think it'll be a lot of.
No night.
Yes, well, I can't wait to see it.
Fadra, congrats on everything you have going on.
Thank you so much.
And thank you for being here.
It's been lovely to chat with you.
Likewise.
And thank you, everyone for listening.
