Betch's media presents.
Ha ha, laugh, funny.
Mention It All.
A Bravo by Betch's podcast.
We don't say that, but now we said it.
With Dylan Hafer.
Who don't check me, bro?
And Barry Rosenfeld.
I need to start drinking alcohol.
Now go to sleep week.
Hey, everyone.
Welcome back to the Mention at All podcast.
I'm Dylan Hafer.
And I'm Barry Rosenfeld.
Happy New Year.
Is it too early to say?
Happy holiday.
Happy New Year.
Happy holidays.
We're recording this in advance, so I don't know what day it is.
But whatever day it is, I hope you all are having a lovely holiday season, staying warm, staying safe.
Well, all the things.
Very warm because it's a whopping 65 degrees in New York.
Yeah, what the hell?
I literally was thinking this morning, I panic bought like snow boots like a month ago, more than a month ago.
As you should, because New York, you never know.
It could be a blizzard tomorrow.
You never know.
And my boots last year had like a hole in them.
Like I really needed new ones.
And I was like, let me order them now.
So they're not sold out.
shipping, you know, the supply chain. So I've had my boots. I've worn them one time. And now they're
just chilling. And, you know, I am, you know, going home for Christmas and all of that. And it's, like,
going to be 50 degrees the whole time I'm there. It's like, okay, I guess I just won't ever wear these
boots that I purchased. As serious as global warming is, it really puts a damper on winter fashion.
Yeah, like, I bought a coat that I've worn like twice. And if now, if I wear it now, I'm sweating.
This is not a weather podcast.
We can't let it get.
Yet it like is because what else?
We talk about Bravo and the weather on here.
That is what we do.
That's true.
Come to us for anything.
So this is part two of our end of 2021 holiday spectacular roundup.
In the first part, which you should go listen to if you have not, we recapped our top
10 Bravo moments of 2021.
You'll never guess what was number one.
Oh, my God.
But today we're going through...
It's crazy.
Today we're going through some of our personal highs and lows with Bravo this year.
Yes.
Not in our personal lives, but personal on Bravo.
Dylan had to reiterate that these are just of this year and not all time, because when we did our Thanksgiving recap, I went fucking ham and went like OG status and was just all over.
Yeah.
So we're going to talk.
Let's just start. Barry, what was your favorite Bravo show of 2021?
If you're giving the Oscar for Best Picture.
All right.
Well.
Or the Emmy for Best Draw.
Yes.
I was like, Oscar is a high ranking.
I thought about this.
And my favorite show is below deck collectively.
So that includes original, sailing yacht and med.
And most fun about that entire situation.
is that over the pandemic,
which at this point was what two years ago,
not this year,
it was last year,
is when I started watching Below Deck.
That was like one of the last Bravo.
I've always watched Housewives and Below Deck.
I started my journey.
And it's unbelievable.
And it's so good,
keeps me on my toes.
Like,
I've always said to watch it.
Like, it is that.
So I'm giving my award to that.
It's my favorite show.
I love that.
Because, and you know,
I feel bad.
I can't, you know,
what am I ditching my housewives?
No, of course not.
No, I think sometimes the Bravo fandom as a whole is a little bit too focused on housewives.
Yes.
And, you know, of course, we love housewives.
We are never going to not talk about housewives.
But I think sometimes the other shows get neglected a little bit.
And I love that you love Below Deck because I love Below Deck too.
And I- What is yours?
Sometimes I enjoy that Below Deck feels a little bit less stressful than Housewives because it's like not like the drama is real, but it's like, you know,
this season happens, then it ends, and you kind of go your separate ways.
Like Housewives, it's like, we have to keep it up.
I also just think the concept of the show is awesome.
Yes.
It works so well.
My favorite show of 2021 that I'm going with is Real Housewives of Beverly Hills.
Okay.
I think they had an outstanding season, but also, in addition to just their season as a stand-alone,
I think they really got it together this year after a few seasons of kind of being up and down.
You know, there have been a couple seasons where it seems like they don't have a lot going on
or they focus on one storyline for way too long or the cast just isn't sort of clicking.
And I thought this season of Beverly Hills was, you know, start to finish, you know, really engaging.
the social media conversation surrounding it with Erica and Sutton and Garcel and, you know,
I thought Crystal was a great newcomer. I just really, I thought it was one of the most enjoyable
viewing season experiences of housewives in a long time. And I'm just thankful for it. And I can't wait
for more. I agree with that. I thought it was a great season as well. Our next fun award.
category. I would love if you would tell me what who your favorite housewife is. Okay. My,
my favorite housewife of 2021 is Garcel Bobe. Okay. I think Garcel is, she's like the friend.
I'm doing, like, what's the Oprah quote? Like the, she's the friend, you, you always want. She's the
sister, you, whatever. I think Garcel is just, um, such, um, such.
a great presence. And I love, I feel like this season, she really, you know, was more comfortable
with the group. She opened up. She had a great time. She's funny. She's beautiful. She's talented.
She's iconic. I just love Garcel. And I love that she is thriving in her career, you know,
that Housewives is just a part of. But yeah, I just, I was loving Garcel this year. What about you?
Amen to that. Okay. So of course, I always have trouble with one category. This was it. So my issues were, I was like, wow, I can't think of one. So I'll give it to an entire cast. But I was like, I can't give it to a cast. My cast was going to be New Jersey. And then I was like, okay, let me lower it down. And then I'll give it to Teresa because she is my favorite housewife. But then I was like, I can't give it to Teresa because everyone knows she's my favorite housewife like ever. So how does that work? You know? But then I was like, I, I,
love Garcell, but then you just said yours Garcel and they can't be the same.
So I'm now up in the air.
I think you can say Teresa.
I will get.
Good.
It's Teresa.
She had an amazing season.
Teresa is not a surprising answer from you, but I think, you know, she, it's not
like she didn't.
Right.
Yeah.
And I think she had a great season on Jersey.
And also, I thought Teresa was great on girls trip.
And I loved seeing that side of her where she got to sort of lighten up a little bit.
And I loved seeing her on Girls Trip talk about how she's always felt on New Jersey.
Like she's kind of been being, you know, it's always something that's coming at her.
And I loved getting to see her kind of relax and enjoy a little bit.
Absolutely.
I don't know how I turned that category into such a dramatic, like, mess.
But here we are.
We got through it.
And she's engaged.
You know, she's engaged.
She's engaged.
Yeah, TBD on how we feel about Louis long term.
But she seems very happy right now.
And I'm happy for her.
I think we will get more of an insight of him on this season.
Because he only like, you know, we saw him like once on last season.
So good.
So good.

Work your magic.
Okay, Barry, who in 2021 was your favorite new housewife?
That was an easy one for me.
Okay.
Also, there weren't that many.
There were that many.
I feel like last year there were more maybe.
Right.
Not just giving it to her because there weren't that many,
but my favorite was Crystal, in fact.
Okay.
I love that.
Yeah.
I loved her.
I loved talking to her when we, like, I just think she's great.
That, that was definitely one of my favorite guests that we had in 2021 was Crystal.
That's a great episode.
If you, uh, if you're in the mood to go back and listen to something, I would recommend it.
Um, but yeah, Crystal, I thought just brought a lovely presence to the show.
And she opened up about so much personal stuff too, which, you know, not everybody has like some traumatic journey in the past, but I did love hearing about, you know, all of her vulnerabilities.
And she's just great.
Yeah.
I wish like any, some time, most new housewives, she got more, you know, but because of everything that was going on on Beverly Hills this year, like she wasn't the main focus.
But that's okay.
We'll see more.
Yeah.
Okay.
Who was yours, Dylan?
My favorite new housewife was Dr. Tiffany Moon.
I, in a similar way to Crystal, I thought she was really, you know, open and vulnerable in her first season, which as of right now, sadly, is going to be her only season.
But I also...
Not if we get her on Married to Medicine.
We're trying to start a franchise.
It's just to do something.
But I also thought Tiffany was, you know, she was in a really rough position in with some of her cast members.
And, you know, it sucks that she had to deal with people being, you know, problematic and, you know, shitty.
And the way that her experience kind of happened, I felt like she handled it really well.
And, you know, I think we kind of saw that with a bunch of our newcomers this year.
because I think Ebony kind of was in a similar situation on New York,
where it was a matter of, you know,
she's just kind of trying to exist and, you know,
bring what she's bringing to the show.
And through circumstances that were not her fault at all,
it became such a, just like a messy disaster.
And, you know, I hope we can treat our newcomers,
Newcomers a little better in the future.
But yeah, I love Tiffany.
I know, right?
Like, it's not kindergarten.
It's grown women where we're like,
treat your new friends kindly.
Thank you.
Yeah.
And we'll see.
I mean, we've got, like, Jenny seems to be,
you know, getting along well with the women in Salt Lake.
We'll see, you know, if she's back.
Crystal is back for another season.
You know, we've got newbies in Miami on OC.
We'll see.
Noella is already off to a chaotic start.
We're way too soon.
Obviously, we're way too soon into those seasons for us to even have that large of an opinion yet.
Exactly.
Yeah, totally.
I was thinking about that.
I'm like, okay, like, you know, they seem fun.
I don't know.
But like, you guys haven't proven to us what needs to be proven yet.
Honorable mentioned to Mia.
I thought Mia was, you know, she really, you could, I give her an A for effort in her
first season.
Listen, it's hard.
It's funny that we, how we talk about housewives, but like how we've talked about
that this is a hard job.
But it is hard.
I agree with you.
Props to come into an existing cast who has been on the show.
Like, we're talking about Miami where there, or where there's a few new girls.
But like, Mia is coming into a cast where there's like women who,
have been on and know each other.
So it's like, it's quite an adjustment for them.
Right.
They've been on and they know each other and they also know how the reality TV game machine,
whatever works.
And, you know, it is not everybody can hang.
And I think, you know, for the most part, it worked out okay.
Right.
Okay.
So who was your most improved Bravo LeBriti this year?
Ramona.
I'm kidding.
Oh my God. I like had a heart attack for a second.
That was a joke. We have to laugh a little bit on here. No, my my most improved, honestly, I think was Giselle. I want to give it to.
Okay.
I think that she, not that she was ever like, you know, bad, but I think she didn't, she's not as, she's still messy. She's not as messy as she used to be.
I think she's like grown a little bit and gone through her own stuff and I I she's what popped into my head right away when I saw that category.
Okay.
Yeah.
Thoughts on that?
I love Jezelle.
I mean, I've always, I've always really enjoyed Jazeel.
But I did I did love seeing on this season how she and Karen were I think able to come to some mutual respect toward the end of the season.
Yeah, I enjoyed that.
For my most improved, I was kind of in a tough spot.
I don't know, because there were a bunch of people, and I kind of ended up with two.
And there are both people who I didn't dislike before this year, and I had a soft spot for them before.
But I think on their shows, they really came into their own.
And those would be Sutton and Gina.
And I, when Sutton was a friend of last season on Beverly Hills, I liked her, but I think that was sort of a controversial opinion.
You know, there were people who really weren't feeling Sutton.
And I think this season, she, first of all, she fucking earned her diamond that when they announced that she was having a diamond, it was like, okay, yeah.
And as the season unfolded, she deserved it.
and I thought that she
handled all the Erica stuff so well
and wasn't afraid to speak her mind
when some of her other cast members clearly were
you know
picking and choosing when they wanted to speak up
so I thought Sutton really just had
a stellar season on Beverly Hills
and really cemented herself as like
as an important part of that cast
and then I think Gina
maybe, I think it sort of started with last season, but last season was so bad that it was hard for that to really be like a breakout season for anyone.
But Gina just seems so confident and so happy and so just like unbothered by what is going on around her or like what people would maybe have to say negative about her.
you know, like she's very content with her small house.
She doesn't need Shannon to tell her, you know, what to do.
And I loved seeing how she handled the situation with her ex.
I thought that was amazing.
And yeah, I just am like, if you, like, last season I was into her,
but if you had told me two or three years ago that Gina would be kind of like a favorite,
I would have been really surprised to hear that.
And now I'm like, no, she, I think she's great.
Well, because we were literally watching her go through her shit, like, during that time.
So it was, like, hard to be on top.
With her, with her personal life and with her, with her hair extensions.
But it's so, that is so funny because in last week's episode of our recap of OC, like, we talked about how Gina is now all of a sudden, like, the shining star.
Like, it just, it just, your time comes when you need to be number one.
The lob, the lob haircut is really working for her.
She feels good, she looks good, she's doing great.

Right. Most upsetting firing slash casting choice of 2021. And I got to be honest, this really, really, really goes against what you just said for the previous category.
Okay.
I was very, very surprised that Sutton got a diamond. That is, that is, I don't know why. I obviously have had opinions about her. I don't like not like she's not my least favorite house.
wife, but I just, I don't know.
I just don't, she just doesn't do it for me as a full-time housewife.
She really doesn't.
I don't know.
Even prior to this season.
You still think that?
I think that she's growing.
I honestly do.
Like, I do think she's gotten, like, better from the, from her last season.
So I think I'm, I will say I will be excited for this season of Beverly Hills.
I think now, because we've even seen her in general, like she didn't feel comfortable at first.
So it's true.
She was even getting more comfortable to be on the show too.
So I felt that, like watching it.
So I think that now she's been on the show for a few years.
Like she's getting more comfortable and like more friendly with the women.
So I think I'll enjoy her more.
It's like, me, in our like long lost friends, we haven't been friends and like we have to grow on each other.
Yeah.
Yes.
Okay.
So mine is like a little, it's about Atlanta.
And, you know, a lot has been happening with the Atlanta cast.
They were put on, you know, a little bit of a pause.
Atlanta was my second backup choice.
And so both Cynthia and Portia will not be returning.
And I'm not necessarily, I'm not necessarily really upset about either of them,
but I'm more, I want Atlanta to be.
great again. And it wasn't great last season. And I just really hope more that it's not that I'm
upset. It's that I more hope that they know what they're doing and that it goes well because we have
some really exciting casting developments that, you know, Marlowe's getting her peach. Cherie is
coming back. It's great. I'm excited. But I just, you know, I really, I really hope that it works out.
Cynthia was also my choice because I was,
because she wasn't,
obviously she chose not to come back.
But it's,
it's funny because after watching the season of girls trip,
I was like,
you know what?
Maybe I,
yeah, it was.
Maybe it is time, but.
It was rough because I expected girls trip to be kind of like a fun
send off for her.
And she just ended on such a bummer note.
Like, it was,
it was tough.
And I,
I mean,
I could.
see her being on Bravo in some capacity in the future, whether it's like a friend of on Atlanta or, you know, whatever.
But it's just like for now, it's, yeah, it is.
I agree with you with Portia as well because, you know, Porsche has obviously been a favorite.
And I got to say, like, we've watched, we've dabbled in her new show.
And like, it's not my favorite.
So I feel like that was also another, you know, thing they tried.
maybe she's doing her own thing, whatever.
But I don't know.
I want to see.
The spin-off thing is hard because it's like, even if the show isn't bad, like, I don't
think that Portia's spin-off is so terrible and I would never want to watch it.
It's just that like, when you love someone on Housewives, it's not just about them.
It's that you love seeing them with the group and the way they throw shade at the women and
the way they handle drama with the women.
And I think Portia's spin-off has some of that because, you know, there are like, obviously she's still, like, interacting with other people.
But I just, I'm going to miss her, like, throwing shade at Kenya and, like, talking about candy.
Like, I just am going to miss that dynamic with her.
Yeah.
We'll see.
Yeah.
I mean, we always say, look at random years can go by.
These housewives just decide to come back and they do.
They owe us apologies, though.
apologize to me.
Okay.
Now looking ahead, we're going to get a little more positive.
What shows, and this doesn't have to be just one, we can just chat.
Are you most looking forward to in 2022?
And I know right out the gate, New Jersey is high on the list for both of us.
It is.
It is.
I am excited for that.
I am excited for, it's funny, because I was going to say, you know, like all of them.
It's a new year.
So like all the shows are coming out.
So like that's my,
but I'm specifically excited for,
Jersey.
I'm specifically excited for Summer House.
Yeah.
Also,
Southern Charm.
And also,
you might correct me on this again,
because I cannot remember for like the third time.
Is Dubai coming out this year or 2023?
I cannot remember.
I think we, I think 2022,
but we don't know any kind of timing.
And not any time soon.
It would be like the second half.
Yeah, I believe they're filming right now.
So probably it'll be at some point like mid-2020.
Okay.
So in our mid-year review, that is what I'm looking forward to.
I think Caroline Stanbury's wedding might be happening like extremely soon, which I would imagine is going to be a centerpiece of the season.
So that's exciting.
The weddings always are.
I would say I'm very excited, obviously by New Jersey.
Summerhouse is we have like a trailer for already.
So that's, you know, coming up quick.
I am hopeful about a season three of family karma.
I haven't heard much about that.
But the group has still been posting pictures together and stuff.
So I would love to see a third season of that.
Well, that confuses us because we all know, we know that they're all friends.
in real life.
I know.
I know.
They're one of those shows
where it's like,
I don't think they would
stop hanging out
if the show wasn't happening
but also like,
just send some cameras.
But yeah,
I'm trying to think
what else am I excited for?
I'm excited for
the continuation of
what's happening with Jen
and Jen Shaw.
And I imagine
they will probably
start filming
pretty quickly
because I think they will want to
you know we know her trial
is starting in a couple months and I think they'll want to sort of capture
assuming that Jen is back on the show
they'll want to capture as much of that as possible
so I'm excited for that
even though it hasn't happened yet
right do you want to know what my all-time favorite show to look forward to
in 2022 is
mention it all the podcast
I thought it was
going to be some like HBO show or something that's coming out. No, it's this one. Yeah, three times a week,
maybe. Where we get to recap our favorite shows. It's been such a wonderful year. You know,
we've done a lot of episodes and thanks for being there for all of them. And yeah, can't wait,
can't wait to do it again in 2022. And have some fun interviews and people on the show.
Oh, yeah.
Oh, yeah.
Oh, yeah.
Amazing.
Well, thank you all for listening.
Happy holidays.
Sincerely.
Sincerely.
Everyone have a safe, loving holiday season and New Year.
True that.
And just be cool.
Don't be all like uncool.
