Hey everyone, welcome back to the Mentions and All podcast.
It is, it's a hot, it's a hot day in New York and I'm excited to heat up the studio with my good friend Samantha Bush.
Welcome back to the show. It's been a minute.
Hi, I know, and I've never been in the studio.
You've never been in the studio. Wait, okay, so you moved to New York a couple months ago.
Yes, in April.
And now, now you're here. It's like 100 degrees right now.
Yeah.
You're experiencing summer in the city.
Summer in the city, you know, got on the train this morning. It didn't have air.
How does it feel to be like in the city, as they say on Bravo?
It feels good.
I passed Serafina's the other day, and I instantly thought of Dorinda and Ramona Singer
when they got pumpkin waffles.
Yeah.
And it's just like, I just, I don't know.
I love it.
Well, there's a few different Serafina, like, memories because where Kyle said,
you're such a fucking liar, Camille, that was out of Serafina in Midtown.
and then just recently
Martha Stewart was spotted
filming with the Roney cast at Serafina
in meatpacking.
So the lore kind of runs deep, but
don't go to Serafina. Can I tell you something?
Yeah. Martha Stewart's
kind of starting to look like Lindsay Hubbard.
When the hair
has been like curled so it looks a little
shorter. Yes. Like she posts
there was a photo of her the other day I saw
with the cast and she looks like
Lindsay Hubbard. It's like a compliment
obviously. But like I would
live for that. How many sandwiches have you made for me? And Martha's like, a lot. I've read a lot of
sandwiches. Martha Stewart's like in her 80s. She's incredible. Out here doing it. Is she going to save
Rony? If anyone can, it's her. Have you seen like the reports that, so they're like filming Rony right
now. I think they're probably almost done. And there's been like reports that Bravo's like so unhappy
and they're going to scrap the season. I'm like, what are we doing? I don't, I also heard that about Jersey.
So I'm hearing the same thing about both.
People just like...
Just let it...
What would have to happen for them to have a full season of Real Housewives of New Jersey
with like Teresa, Melissa, and Dolores that they're paying hundreds of thousands of dollars
and they're just like, mm, not feeling this one.
Yeah, I hear that it's going to be only 10 episodes because they're just not, it's not
driving, but I'm like...
The funny thing about that is though it's like, we have lived through some like tough seasons
of Housewives.
Yes.
You and I have seen it all.
I've spent so much time with these women.
Honestly, it's like when thinking about like real housewives of Atlanta, which is on right now, it's like so nice that it's just good again.
And it's like it wasn't always like this.
No.
Like we've gone through some dark times with these women.
Like I remember watching season four of Roney when it was live and just thinking like this is the worst season of housewives in the world.
And then obviously now looking back, it's great.
But like, we've been through some rough, like, OC COVID years.
That is.
We're dark.
Dark.
And OC, when this comes out, O.C is coming out this week.
Right.
Season 20.
Yeah.
Are you excited for O.C. this season?
I love O.C.
Like, it's, to me, it's, like, probably my second favorite franchise.
And I don't know what.
I just love it.
I love Tamara.
Like, I am a Tamara apologist.
People were really negative on Tamer.
after last season.
Yeah.
And I feel like with her, it's like I don't always agree with her.
But it's like, I just think everybody who like wants her off the show and thinks that she's
like the worst thing that's ever, it's like, what do you, what do you want?
Like that's what I ask housewives and Bravo fans all the time is like, what do you want
from these shows?
Because it's like you want the villains off, but then it's boring and then it's too calculated
and then they don't have storylines.
It's like.
I just saw Tinks posted a TikTok,
which is like not how I usually start my sentences.
But she was like talking about Rhode Island,
and she was like, people need to chill out
because I'm like, oh, I like Joe Ellen.
And they're like, she's not a good person.
She's blah, blah, blah, blah, blah.
And it's like, yeah, like I'm not voting for her for president.
I'm not like donating money to her.
Like she's a character on a reality television show.
Correct.
And she's doing, I think, important work.
She's doing really important work over there.
She's getting in Rula's ass.
It is kind of crazy watching that reunion.
Just like the relentlessness of Joelle and Tiberi.
Dog with a bone, and I love it.
Was there a point during that season or that reunion for you
where it was like you're doing a little too much?
Or are you just like...
No.
Keep put to the gas.
Yeah, it was like keep going.
Because it was wild to watch Rula, like, in real time,
try to figure out how to answer certain questions
because she could probably,
she probably knew Brian was going to lie.
And then, I mean, he did.
Brian having the whole, like, well, there's the lawsuit,
so I can't speak about, I can't say what, you know,
like he was really using that, like, defense to,
as like a blanket coverage.
But it was so interesting where Rula was like,
oh well I could speak about it and it's like do you want to right and also when um what is his
name oh my god Liz's husband Jerry Jerry I sorry Joe Ellen's is Gary her is Jerry so sorry
sorry Jerry was like yeah my friend called me and then he handed Brian the phone and like you can
see Rula just like processing that information in real time there yeah there is just that like
she's pretty she stays pretty cool most
of the time, like the, like, the volume doesn't change that much, but you can just tell she's like,
yeah, I didn't know about that, ain't me?
Like, she had no idea.
And it's, yeah, I mean, it does just feel like time and time again, like she's just learning
new information and looking dumb, but she's never quite willing to admit that she was made
to look dumb, but she's like, yeah, I will admit that I didn't know that before.
But it's just like, okay, so what is the end result going to be?
Like, we've spent a whole season seeing him look like a piece of shit.
And then it seems like she's not going to leave that man.
No, and I don't know why.
Like, she has her own money.
She seems to be doing well in that way.
So it's like, you can leave.
Like, you don't have to stay married to him.
This never really came up again.
But in the, I think it was in the first or second episode when she was like, oh, yeah, like, my culture doesn't like divorce.
And in the confessional, they were like, aren't you divorced?
and she was like, and I'm going to talk about that.
And then I don't think we ever spoke about it again.
I forgot about that.
So Rula and Brian are both divorced.
Divorced.
Well, he got divorced in 2016, allegedly.
I believe Joellen.
A hundred percent.
She's like, why would I lie about this?
But the thing is, like, I get what, like,
Joellen is making it easy for her, for people to be like, why do you care?
Yeah.
Because she, I mean, she's, like, not willing to just kind of let it go.
No.
But it is, like, I believe, I, I believe.
I trust Joe Allen.
But also, isn't that housewives?
Like, the essence of housewives is like, why do you care?
And it's like, well, we care because we're on this show to talk about our lives.
Yeah.
So, like, that's why we care.
Yeah, I do think, like, my one thing with the reunion is I feel like there was a little
too much of, I say something, somebody disagrees with me, and then it's just, I have proof.
Or like, I have the file.
Rosie had her little binder.
Yeah, Rosie had the brief, the bedazzled brief case.
Which I don't think she ever actually brought to the stage.
Wasn't allowed Andy told her no.
I think that's the thing with the receipts is like I think it makes sense for you to have backup in case you need it.
But when it feels like it's kind of like a default response of like every time you get into an argument, it's just like, well, I do have the documents.
It's like, okay.
Sure.
Yeah.
You can print out a stack of papers.
And his suit.
Brian.
Was so offensive to me.
Okay.
Thank you.
Because I said that too.
And some people were like, that was not that bad.
What?
People were like, if Jared or Billy were wearing that, you wouldn't have an issue with it.
That's not true.
That's not true.
That's a crazy color to wear.
It's like the...
Like you're coming and defending an affair and that's what you wear.
It's a shade of...
Would you say teal?
It's a shade of teal that is, to me, deeply, like, millennial cringe.
Yeah.
Like, I picture...
My bedroom was that color.
I pictured that shade of that.
I pictured that shade of teal in like a chevron print with a white stripe.
And it's like printed out and framed with like gold cursive font on it.
And it's like keep calm and carry on it.
No, literally.
It literally is the color of my bedroom.
I made my parents paint my room that color 2008.
That like electric teal and like bright orange.
Like that coral.
Yeah.
Those like bright colors that are so like that was a J.Crew necklace in 2010.
God, I'm so triggered.
Yeah, the statement necklaces.
It was so bad.
Also, just like his whole demeanor doesn't...
I mean, it doesn't help.
If Jared were wearing that, I would still think it was an ugly suit, but I would be like,
Jared, what are we doing?
We got to help you.
Yeah.
With Brian, I'm like, sir.
Brian is like our Michael Darby.
Like, where he's kind of going to be the reason all the women come together is because
he's terrible.
Like a Brooks, kind of.
A brooks, yes.
I just don't.
don't know if I hope that Rula sees the light at some point but like I don't know if I really see
that for her I don't I don't I don't know what she's thinking I really don't we do so we found out
we're recording this on Wednesday we just found out today Liz is not coming back we were you ran over
to me you're sitting on the couch in the office I see it at my desk it was I think it was like 15
minutes after she posted it and I was like didn't you see that Liz it's and I was like what
and then we saw it's this this like AI photo of
a woman sitting by the water.
In Rhode Island, she's on, what is that?
What's the island she likes?
Block Island.
Block Island.
I just, I want to know, like, did she write the text?
Like, it's not an Instagram story thought.
I don't know where she found it.
It's not giving Canva to me.
I'm like, what's...
Edits?
Or did she just tell AI to, like, make a post?
Oh.
Like, is the text AI, Jenna?
That's what it is.
Maybe she fed the copy into Chatchipati and was like,
Picture of a woman by the water with the copy, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah.
Yeah.
I think we cracked the case.
We really, it is like the longer you live on the internet, the, the eras of statement formats that we've lived through where it was like the notes app screenshot, the tweet, the Instagram create mode.
Yeah, the black background with a white text, like different fonts, font, font iterations that we've gone through.
the apology video, of course, classic, crying to camera.
And you did it at my birthday party.
Yeah.
And now, and you did it at a sucking dick and cop.
But now, now we're in a hellscape of AI apology graphics.
It's really upsetting.
It's not an apology.
It's an AI announcement graphic.
Yes.
I'm devastated.
Go back to Create mode.
I'm sad.
Get back on Instagram stories and just type.
Why the woman on the beach?
Like, does she not have a photo of herself on the beach?
Right.
Like, it would have been so easy to just do, like, a photo of you with the cast and be like,
get to miss you, ladies.
I don't.
I don't think she's face to camera.
Liz is, like, a little older.
Not to, you know, not to age him, but, like, she's a woman in her 50s.
Like, like, my mom, if she were to make an announcement on Instagram,
I don't know what the fuck it would look like
That's true
It would be like is this
You know how do I turn it around
Like that would be
She's like how do we take a screenshot
That would be part of it yeah
Are you gonna miss Liz?
What are your thoughts?
I will miss Liz
Yes and I think like
The first part of it is like
I thought this season was so solid
Especially for a first season
That I just assumed
And kind of was on board with them
Just like literally saying like
Repeat
Yeah
Get back into filming
And so I think
with Liz missing.
And also, I don't know if we technically know,
but like I think Dolores, you know,
pretty much isn't going to be on the show.
Not that we needed her this season, really.
But to me, like, it does leave a little bit of a hole
where I'm like, I feel like now they probably feel like
they need to find at least one new person.
Yeah.
So it's just like, it's a little scary.
I know.
When it's a brand new show and this cast has so much going on.
and now I'm like, what if they cast somebody new that sucks?
I know.
I'm worried.
And I don't want like, nobody in this cast really feels like a wannabe influencer the way that
they've had trouble with sometimes recently on Housewives.
And I'm scared that they're going to find some like 31 year old woman who kind of just gives
like Rachel food up.
Yeah.
No.
And here's the thing.
Ashley is an influencer.
Like she literally did a brand deal
mid-reunion for Am Wachtin,
lotion. And I was obsessed.
I was like, this was the hardest working woman in show.
Like, she's so good.
Like, I'll allow that.
But like, a woman coming on to then just become an influencer,
I don't love.
Well, that's the thing is it's like
somebody who is an influencer,
content creator or whatever, like has a career.
Like, even like Sye on New York,
it's like even if you didn't love her,
vibe or what she brought to the group. It's like, no, she's like a fashion
influencer, blogger, whatever who like makes money
doing that. Like a ton of money. Like I don't want some stay at home mom who's
coming on housewives. Yeah. To try to make that happen for herself. I agree. And then
Joellen's saying that she's, you know, like going to be a stay at home mom. I'm like,
you're brand deals. Like that's, and you know what? That's great. I mean, when Alicia was
saying like, I don't know if I can't.
so much about the 50, whatever. It's like, how much money have you made on Cameo in the last three
months? I don't think she knows. But it's a lot. I did love when Andy was like, you know,
famously we had a housewife who allowed her husband to sign all these documents for her.
The thing is, it's like, I don't need Alicia to know or care about the details of the numbers. I need
her to pay somebody to care for her. She's got Sarah, the bookkeeper. Like, I just need her to, like,
hire somebody so she doesn't have to think about it. Yeah, I need her to hire like someone who also
isn't super close with Billy.
Like I want her to have someone that advocates for her.
No, that's the whole thing.
When he hands her the contract on stage and she's like, yeah, sign it.
It's like, no.
I know.
Everyone's like, oh, fuck, Alicia.
Because, like, she needs, she needs to hire, like, I don't want Alicia to have to worry
her pretty little head about what the trust means.
I want her to hire somebody who's going to read through it and be like, oh, this is
fucked.
Yeah.
And it's not even that I don't trust Billy.
Like, I actually think that they have, like, a very funny, like, loving relationship
almost.
because he's like, I've tried to get her to talk to me about this stuff.
Like I've tried to have meetings with her.
And she's like, I'm not doing meetings.
Yeah.
I think it was easy.
The way it was kind of like presented on the show, it was easy to be like, oh, this like
douchebag guy.
Well, we're all jaded.
He's pulling the wool over her eyes.
Yeah, we're all jaded.
She's going to be left destitute.
And it's like, oh, no, they just have kind of like a unique dynamic.
And also she's like a little ditsy.
and has sort of like willfully not paid attention.
Yeah.
So I, yeah, like I wanted to get better for her.
But I am like, with Liz, it's like there were a lot of kind of potential stones to overturn with her that now we're just like not going to get to see.
And like, I don't know exactly what Liz has going on behind the scenes.
There's lots of rumors.
Rumors.
Rumors and nastiness.
So like if that is playing a role in her decision to sort of step away from the public eye, I would understand that.
But also like I could see her just kind of being like, I don't need to do this.
I think it's like not worth it for her.
Yeah.
Like at the end of the day, she's going to come out with her menopausal gummies.
Like she's fine.
In my mind, I'm like, oh, I want to try the menopause gummies.
And I'm like, why would I do that?
I mean, I want to try them too.
I love a gummy.
I think it's just that it's like I like gummy candy.
Yeah, me too.
And I like a, like a gummy.
A gummy.
Sometimes.
Once in a while.
I partake.
So when I hear, like, her talking about gummies, I'm like, oh.
Oh.
Like, oh, no.
Yeah.
But, yeah, no, I don't know.
And I think, like, having Dolores as sort of, like, a, like, hand, a stepping stone was, like, cute.
But, you know, Dolores is going to be back on.
Yeah, she'll be back on Jersey.
What do you think of Kelsey and Rosie?
Like, what is the problem?
I don't understand.
it. I think they are both
they're
both kind of like strivers.
Like I think they both want
more than what they currently have
in similar but different
ways. Like I think Kelsey
seems to me like she has some sort of insecurity
about, you know, not having her own
stuff. And like
I was interested to hear at the reunion that she is
living with Bill now
even though on the show she said that she really wanted to live on her own for a year.
I knew that that wasn't going to happen.
Yeah.
I saw that coming as well.
A mile away.
And then with Rosie, like, it does seem like she has kind of like, I don't know if it's bigger, like, career aspirations or wants to sort of like, like, it seems to me, like, out of the cast, like, she maybe is sort of the least, like, wealthy.
So I think they both want stuff that they don't really quite have right now.
And maybe they kind of see that.
It's like when the Betafish sees itself in the mirror.
Like they're both like, I don't want to say they were jealous,
but I think that they're both like they want something that the other one has, like you said.
Right, because it's like Rosie, like her marriage seems to be great,
at least from everything we see.
Like, see.
With rich?
a happy home, she just, like, wants it to be bigger.
Whereas, like, Kelsey on this season is, like, I don't know what's going on with my whole
kind of life and career. And I also think Kelsey's, like, very unapologetic about everything.
And I think that that probably is annoying. Yeah. Because it's like... And I think that watching the
reunion and obviously, you know, the scene with the slam pig and everything, like, I think that
Rosie is a lot better at, like, winning an argument. Yeah. And so I do, like,
Kelsey, you know, like, I don't dislike Kelsey, but she does come across a little, like, almost like, thirsty or desperate.
And I'm curious, like, whether they actually try to reset for next season, because if I were Kelsey, I might feel like, okay, if I, I actually don't want to keep going down this road.
Because if I keep losing every argument, then it's going to start getting tough for me.
Wrong road.
Well, I saw that they were together at a soccer game, I think.
So that's nice.
They were in matching jerseys.
Well, not matching.
It was the team's jersey.
They weren't.
It's like, we're going to go to a Yankees game.
Oh, let's both wear Yankees T-shirts.
Matching.
I don't know.
I'm excited for their second season, though, because I think they have like good pieces in place.
Yes.
What do you think?
I'm curious, shifting to Atlanta a little bit and talking about like friendships.
Where do you feel about Shamiya and Portia?
these days.
What is, what happened?
Because, so now they're in Scotland.
Yeah.
And I feel like in the first episode of the Scotland trip, like, Porsche was like almost,
she's like fine to be around Shamiya, almost to the point where I feel like she truly
doesn't care about her anymore.
But then it's like, it does seem like deep down Shamiya, like, it really, like, bothers her
that she can't get anything out of Portia.
Yeah.
And it's just like a strange thing that is like not coming to the forefront at all.
Right.
And like Portia even saying at one point in the episode,
she was like, don't try to do anything with AI to try to get me to react to like the George and Shemia rumors.
So like she's still willing to like protect Shemia in this way where she's like,
I'm not going to give anything.
I'm not going to add to this drama.
I just want to like leave it alone.
and I just don't really get what happened.
Right.
And I think they don't, like, they don't want us to get what happened.
Do you think it had more, do you think it's about the show?
Because that's to me what it always is about at the end of the day.
Like, like, they're fighting about the show.
Yeah, I don't, I don't think it's only about the show.
Mm-hmm.
But I feel like it's likely that the show maybe accelerated whatever, like, cracks were happening.
Because they were friends for a long time.
were friends for a long time. They were like, it felt like they were friends in like a almost like
familial kind of way. And I, it did seem like last season when Shamia like showed up as a housewife,
they weren't necessarily totally on bad terms yet, but it did feel like there was kind of
immediately like a crack. Friction happening there. And so I don't, because to me it's like,
Portia is like the Queen Bee of this show
And I don't think she needs to like
ruin Shamiya's
Chances to keep herself on top
Because it's like Shamiya's not in danger of coming near
Portia's crown
Like Portia is like untouchable to me
Like I die for Portia Williams
And to me like she's such a
Which is crazy because she hasn't even been back on the show for that long
It feels like she never last
But she's such, she feels like such a stable kind of like main character.
And watching, I've really enjoyed this season watching her dating evolution.
Oh.
And now she's gay gay.
She's gay, she's full lesbian.
And like the fact that that has been, that part of her journey has been so fun to watch.
To me that really speaks volumes about like how much of a main character you are.
Because it's like, if we were watching Kelly have a dating.
scene every week, I would be like, 15, four, with Jarvis.
I don't care.
But also speaking of Hellie, when they were having that nice conversation at the very
end of the episode where they were all kind of like praying together on this bed, that was
like such a nice moment.
Because Portia genuinely, I think, was like, I like that Shamiya is there for you.
Like, I like that you guys are friends.
Like, I hope that us not being close has anything to do with like you and I, you know?
Yeah.
I thought that was so nice.
She was like really there for her.
Kelly's an interesting one.
Because I feel like there are some episodes where I'm just like, can you go away?
Kelly's like busting at the seams.
She's the only, she's the only.
In more ways than one sometimes.
Bravo Liberty I took a picture of at BravoCon.
She was like bumping, like chest bumping a fan.
And I got a picture of it.
Was she wearing like feathers?
Yes, of course.
She was in a white feather look.
It's always, the thing is for her, it's,
like, it's like every outfit must have like three of the four and it's like feathers,
sequins, pleather.
Pleather.
Or like, like, PVC, like a like latex look.
Latex.
Yeah.
Did you see all the fingerprints on that one look?
That was so sad.
I mean, it's, it's, she doesn't get out of her own way.
It's so funny this season because she is like seemingly quite broke.
Yeah.
And sometimes showing up.
looking completely stripped down wearing a t-shirt confessional for, I mean, several episodes,
that has been a featured confessional look.
So it wasn't just like, oh, this one.
We went to her financial advisor appointment.
We, we, in two weeks ago, we saw two different people within the span of one episode basically
tell her baby girl.
You got a-
Yeah, we got to cut some things.
You got to cut some of the expenses.
Yeah.
We can't be spending on the lashes.
is dog wigs dog wigs at the same time though I feel like she's she just like has this
idea of herself as somebody who is like fucking fabulous yeah and so I I can't remember I don't know if
it was you but somebody was like those early seasons when Cynthia Bailey was on Atlanta
she was not that well off and she was
she's talked about shopping at like T.J. Max and stuff, putting together looks, finding things to
wear in confessionals, parties, reunions. It's like, sometimes you have to just like get down and
dirty a little bit and figure it out. And I feel like Kelly like can't wrap her mind around the fact that like
maybe she needs to be a Maxinaista. Yeah. She doesn't, she has too much pride. Like she doesn't want to
just accept the fact that this is where she is right now. And it's like, babe, you don't need like
Chanel bags and you don't need all this stuff.
Like, come on.
Do you remember, let's pack it up?
Last season when they were going to the Kenyamore, the infamous Kenymore spa opening.
And Kelly like picked up some of the other girls in this like ridiculous sprinter van that had like her name on it.
And she was like eating chicken and waffles inside.
And it's like she was like portraying this lifestyle of like, oh yeah, I just like get driven around everywhere in my like Rolls Roy sprinting.
man. And it's, it's just like crazy the way that people put on.
For these shows. Yeah, it's nuts. Like, they go in so much debt for these shows. It's like,
and it all comes out. Like, it is going to fall at some point and we're watching that.
Watching them in Scotland reacting to her $200 million lawsuit from her husband.
Oh, my God. And Angel's like, like, Paige was doing the work for free. And Andrew's like, thank God.
And so I was like, do you know how much a lawyer costs?
Yeah, it's bad.
She's down bad.
She's like, in the confession, she's like, $200 million.
You're not going to win that case.
It's crazy.
This man's crazy.
Yeah.
I feel bad for her.
I feel bad for her.
It's just like, like you said, she can't get out of her own way.
And it's like.
Like wearing heels and socks to the basketball game.
It's like, just put on some sneakers.
And there are photos of her wearing sneakers.
Like multiple times.
times. She's like, I don't wear sneakers. And it's like,
it's like, why are you doing this? Like, be real. Yeah. Be serious.
I don't know. I, Atlanta's having a great season, though. She's unsurious. Oh,
it's a perfect show. It's a perfect show. I love every minute. Okay, I want to,
I want to shift gears a little bit and talk about. Okay, Andy.
Kind of. Kind of. In that moment. Yeah, that was good. I want to talk about in the city.
Oh, okay. And like Summerhouse a little. I have.
feel like Summerhouse, it's like, I was glad when it wrapped up. I think we all needed a great.
Because it was like so high, it felt so high stakes for like the last six weeks. And it was
every day something. It's going to like flush a little bit. Yeah. But now, now that we've had a
couple weeks away from Summer House in the city is like going. It's going. Have you enjoyed in the city?
We haven't really talked about it. I haven't not enjoyed it. I just think like I've been so wrapped up in
summer house and then I was kind of like
depleted. By the
end I felt like that that girl in the drug
commercial like on the couch where she's flat
like that's how I felt
so I couldn't really
take on in the city
like emotion. Rex salty.
Yeah like I literally was like I can't
take this on right now but now I'm like
starting to get back into it.
Like this episode was good. I was the same way
like I was like behind a couple
because like during the summer house reunion it was just like
I cannot be caring about George
Gina. Don't care.
Ivan. Don't care.
Yvonne? Like, not now.
Not now.
Kenny?
Snoos. Kenny and his dad?
Snoos. But now, like, now...
But now I'm back.
The last, yeah, the last couple weeks I've, like, been more engaged with it.
And I do think, like, I think it's, like, pretty good.
Which is, like, enough. I think it's enough.
It's a good summer show.
It is, like, it's funny that, like, we always now, we always have to watch
summer house in like the dead of winter.
Yeah.
And then now we're watching like Friendsgiving in the hottest week of the summer.
In hell.
And I'm kind of like I do feel like I know that they can't.
You want them to turn it around quicker?
Like it's just hard because it's like sometimes you want to watch like a cozy show in like a cozy
and like if in the city was airing in November it would feel like such a vibe.
Yeah.
To be like in the city in the fall.
Yeah.
Even December, January.
I would take it.
I know.
I know.
know that I know that they're working hard.
I know.
They're turning it out over there.
I get it.
I get it.
I get it.
But yeah, it is like, it's always, it's like tricky when there's all these new people and
there's also like old people.
And there's also like old new people where it's like, okay, so we're like immersing ourselves
back in the Danielle experience.
Yes.
And there's also the Kyle and Amanda stuff.
So it's like kind of old news.
Yeah.
Like, we know that they're not together anymore.
And we know why they're not together anymore.
And I was really wondering.
Like when the when the whole scandal was first like really cresting,
I was really worried that in the city would just feel completely like irrelevant.
Because it's like spoiled basically.
And there have been moments in the Kyle and Amanda stuff on in the city that I still am like,
I'm interested to see like how this specific interaction goes.
Yeah.
But there is like there is a sense of like inevitability to it, which there probably would have been anyway.
Yeah.
But where it's like, okay, so she'd sign the year-long lease.
Right.
Ooh.
Yeah, she'll have furniture.
Now it's bad.
Yeah.
It's kind of how I felt about watching when I was watching Katie and Tom Schwartz that season where they were getting married.
Right.
Because I was like, we know they got married.
So it's like the whole season is watching them contemplate should we get married.
And I'm like, I guess.
But the Daniel Lindsay stuff with the Yvonne stuff is like very captivating to me.
Yeah.
They like hate each other, it seems.
There is a lot of, yeah, there's a lot of there there, I think.
And that's something where I feel like when you think about like the future of Summerhouse,
the future of In the City, like the West and Amanda stuff has like created so many issues
and now West and Amanda aren't going to be on Summer House.
Like there's a lot to figure out.
But when I think about like in the city as a potential show that has legs, I am like,
I don't know how much I care about Yvonne.
as like a personality, but as somebody who is like potentially like a push and pull with
Lindsay Hubbard and then Danielle's there and Lindsay's screaming, why are you on the show?
Yeah.
Suddenly I am.
I perk up.
I'm more glued to the chair.
Yeah.
And I, Gavin is a necessary evil.
Oh, yeah.
Like he drives me crazy, but I know that he's got a point on the show.
This like, yeah, this, um, Yvonne and Nick's third wedding dinner.
The thing is like calling it a wedding is nuts.
It's crazy.
Yeah.
Because like even I, we were talking about this like at the beginning of this like past
episode when Yvonne is like, yeah, so we want to plan this dinner and I've set aside
a budget for it and this is like what we're going to do and blah, blah, blah, blah,
I'm thinking like, oh, like you're talking about starting the planning process.
for this wedding and you know you're thinking about what you wanted to look like and he's like
I know you probably just want me to like put on a tuxedo and show up but let me know if you need
any help and then it's like 12 minutes later in the episode it's like and we're here oh I thought
this was like a bigger to do I thought it was a bigger to do I thought there would be more people I didn't
know it was just going to be at dinner just the cast it's the cast with like two extra people
behind Danielle like I don't know who those people were well Amanda's friend Katie who is
like was on the end on the end who's like not a
on the show, but like, always is there.
I don't get it.
I'm like, how, I'm like, how boring is she that she couldn't, like, get a confessional?
Boring.
But, yeah, no, so it's, it's not a wedding.
I mean, the thing is, and you know this from past work experience, wedding people are
fucking nuts.
Yes.
And so I feel like if I, if I make a, if I say a hot take that it's not a wedding, people
get, actually a wedding can be whatever you want it to be.
Yeah.
And it's super fucked up that you would say that this.
intimate dinner is not a wedding.
Because some people want that for their wedding.
It wasn't giving wedding.
No.
It's not, when Taylor Swift is walking down the aisle at MSG, that's a wedding.
That's a wedding.
Also, it's like they've been married for over a year.
Like, what are we doing?
They had a wedding in Mexico.
Right.
And that's, I feel like usually it's the opposite.
Like, I'm confused.
Usually it's the opposite where I was like, we had the, we got married at the courthouse.
We like did a little dinner, but now we want to do like.
wedding.
Yes.
And this is like the opposite of it.
I was like, okay, like our most intimate castmates.
Yeah, our most intimate castmates that we just met.
We'll be in this room.
And we're all going to be miced.
It kind of felt like they were inside like a womb a little bit.
Like that room was very like.
It reminded me of the room on OC where they ate sushi.
And Heather Debrough like got up and she was like, we are not doing this.
That's how it felt when Lindsay stood up.
Yeah.
Lindsay was like 18 sobbing on blocks deep.
Like she was out of her mind.
She was feeling it.
She was doing it.
And thankful for her.
It was kind of crazy.
Like framing it as the wedding.
And then just like the chaos of that entire dinner.
I like, I like almost felt bad for Yvonne.
And then I was like, I don't really care.
But.
Yeah.
Because like Kenny or Gavin is like asking.
Amanda about smoking weed.
Amanda about smoking weed.
And then.
Danielle's upset.
And then there's a lot of yelling.
And then Amanda comes at Danielle about Owen and not being honest about his relationship.
Okay.
So how, like, how much do you care about getting answers with Danielle and Owen's timeline?
I think it's one of those things where it's like, I didn't care.
But now that you're like being kind of weird about it, now I care.
Because there's like, yeah, it's like, so there's the question of like, is Danielle a homewrecker?
Which like, I feel like the answer's no.
Right.
But then it's like, then we're digging deeper of like, did you get married?
You had a wedding in 2023, but did you legally get married in 2020?
And I personally am still a little bit like, sorry, why am I doing math?
Like, what's the problem?
Who are we?
Is it because they're trying to catch Danielle in something because she had so much to say about
Lindsay or Amanda, like, if they just want to get her on something?
It feels like Lindsay and Amanda to me.
and maybe there is a like concrete answer of like what the allegation is that I'm missing.
It does feel like Lindsay and Amanda came into the in the city experience with sort of a cross to bear with Danielle.
That like they were kind of not open to just being like, yeah, our friend Danielle is back in the group.
They were not open.
And also I find it interesting because there's like a fight within a fight within a fight.
this table and part of it is Lindsay saying like why are you on this show if you're not just going
to be open about your life she's like because Amanda and Kyle are like bleeding out for the show
Kenny is bleeding out for the show like and you're being so weird about an elusive about
this relationship I think that Danielle thought she was going to come on the show and that her
main I think she thought it was going to be look how happy I am with my new man lovey-dovey
and then her other main storyline was going to be me and Lindsay.
Yeah, making up with Lindsay.
And so I think, I mean, maybe this, I mean, it probably was naive of her if this is the case.
I don't think she thought that the Owen stuff was going to become such a topic in the group.
Like maybe she thought it would be brought up in some sense.
Maybe like once.
Right.
But like the, she was really pissed off when she found.
out that first of all, Owen was getting grilled at boys night.
And then afterward, when the boys were like debriefing Lindsay and he was still the main
topic of conversation, like I think to her, it's like, can you guys talk about anything
else?
Yeah.
Which I get.
Yeah.
It always just makes me wonder, like, is there something we're not seeing from Owen that, like, the
entire cast sees or knows?
And, like, we just don't know yet.
Yeah.
Because, like, they seem very hung up on this.
I know.
And, like, Owen on the show has been very, like...
I'm attracted to Owen.
Even, Keel.
He's hot.
He's hot.
Those cast photos did no one any favors.
Because he looks crazy.
Right, because it was like, okay, we're all wearing, like, brown.
And everybody looks kind of just, like, muddy.
Yeah.
It's just like, yeah.
Everybody looked a little bit, like, fucked up.
It looks kind of crazy.
They looked like they were, like, in the prohibition era.
Like, they all were kind of a mess.
Black sweater or whatever.
I'm like, yeah.
Yeah.
I'm like, I see the vision, Danielle.
I'm like, yeah.
But do you think next season's going to have maybe a similar problem that the Valley is kind of having where they all had babies?
Because both Yvonne, Danielle, Daniel just had her baby.
Lexi is pregnant.
And isn't someone else pregnant?
Or no, that's it.
Just the three of them.
Well, Lindsay has a baby.
Still baby Jemma.
Yeah, of course, baby Jemma.
I don't, yeah.
It's definitely.
Like, I don't think that this show feels like the Valley.
Yeah.
And so I am hopeful.
It's not as fraught with.
Yeah, it doesn't feel like there's as much like, just like baggage on every relationship.
And maybe that will come.
Yeah.
But I hope it doesn't.
But I also am like, I feel really bad.
I still don't.
I have nothing to say about.
Regina. And so like...
Nothing. I do think also
maybe there are some tweaks to be made
for season two where it's just like there's a lot of people.
Yeah, it feels really bloated the cast.
A little bit. Yeah. And I think obviously whether or not
Amanda is invited back or chooses to come back will be...
Do you think she'll be back? So I don't know, but I
watching the aftermath episode of Summerhouse, I felt like
the conversation that she and Lindsay had,
was sort of framed to open the door for her coming back to In the City.
Yeah.
But that, to me, feels contingent on her dropping West.
And at this point, as far as we know, that has not happened.
Yeah.
They went to Italy together.
They ate olives together.
We're wearing horizontal stripes together.
Yeah, they love a stripe.
And so I do think like...
The hamburglers.
If we get to like September and Amanda is still
with West or, you know, not willing to, like, denounce that.
Do you think he would film?
I don't think anybody wants that.
Okay.
I think, like, to me, from the aftermath episode, it felt like, okay, West is done.
Amanda will see.
And I think, like, if she's single and it's like, wow, West, wow, is that ruined my,
that was crazy.
But, like, I'm coming back out of it.
But it also might be easier to just, like, not have her on the show.
Yeah.
And watch Kyle making out with Ava Dash and.
Megan King.
Yeah, what the hell is that?
He's like on his tour de Bravo.
Yeah, he's like, Sally.
Yeah.
But a man.
And also with Sally.
He's also with Sally, yeah.
Allegedly.
I think they were.
They made out.
They set a Therunian.
Oh, yeah, okay.
Yeah.
All three confirmed.
All three confirmed, yeah.
Crazy.
Crazy.
And very, like, he's sampling like every age bracket.
He's coast to coast.
He needs, next he needs to get with like an older woman.
Giselle.
Because him and Megan King are like the same age.
So he needs to get with like, not Giza.
I don't wish that on Chalelle.
Him, make, Countess Luann.
Is she in a relationship?
Maybe.
I feel like she might be.
Sonia?
No.
Too messy.
Yeah.
Who's somebody that like has it together, but is older.
Oh my God.
Carol?
Carol?
Oh, no, she's engaged.
Carol.
Carol.
Because she's kind of like, she's kind of, oh, she is.
Louan's always dating someone
Louan's always got her
her feelers out there
Kyle Cook and Carol Radzwell
You heard it here first
Watch this space
Kyle's gonna be on next season of Roney
Oh my god
What a dream
She'll be writing on his handlebars
Did you see Adam has a baby
Sexy Salads?
Carol's Adam
Yeah
He has a baby
He looks really good
I did not see that
It came across my desk this weekend
Well
Calming Amanda
to Francis because I'm manifesting.
Yeah.
I'm into it.
Kyle and Carol.
Maybe.
Maybe.
Did you know he's older than J.D.
Dance?
Yeah.
I did know that.
Yeah.
He's older than a lot of people.
He's older than the name of dash.
And Angela is 45.
Yeah.
And he's 43.
Yeah.
Which is like crazy to like.
People are like calling Angela old.
I'm like, she's a woman with the, she's a kid in her 20s.
I thought Karen Huger turned 60.
Yeah.
And she's like the mayor of Surrey County.
Everybody's the same age.
Yeah.
Age is just a number.
Age is just a number.
Sam, thank you so much for coming on.
Thanks for having me.
Always a pleasure.
Thanks everyone for watching, listening.
Don't forget to rate, review, subscribe.
And until next time, be cool.
Don't be all like uncool.
Betches.
