Mention It All - Why Stassi Is Still The Vanderpump Rules Blueprint Ft. Venus Binkley
Episode Date: January 20, 2026On this week’s video episode, Dylan is joined by Vanderpump Rules reboot star Venus Binkley to get into what life has been like since the show dropped, including getting recognized in NYC and why he... feels like reality TV comes naturally to him. Venus tells Dylan how Stassi hooked him immediately back in the OG Vanderpump days, what it was like working at SUR when Scandoval broke, and why that summer was the busiest he’s ever been working in a restaurant. Then, Venus breaks down the Marcus and Kim chao and why he refuses to trust Marcus moving forward. Plus, Venus weighs in on Angelica, the penis pump story getting told to Lisa Vanderpump, what Lisa is really like off camera, and why Venus thinks the whole thing was meant to make Jason look bad. Finally, he teases what’s coming as the season heats up, from the group trip to the reunion, and what he wants to bring next season, including his twin sister and his soon to be released memoir. Hey everyone, welcome back to the Mentioned-All podcast.
I am so thrilled to be here with one of our new Vanderpump Rules crew.
We're getting back into Vanderpump Rules in the new year.
And I am ready to talk about it all with Venus Binkley.
Venus, hello.
Hi, how are you going?
I'm just enjoying my first experience in New York.
I know you told me that it's your first time in New York,
and we're recording this bright and early at 10 a.m.
And so this is like your first thing on the schedule of your first day in New York.
York. Yeah, it's my first thing ever, so got to impress me. No, you're, you're looking great.
Thank you. We're like six episodes into Vanderpump Rules. Yeah. We're making our way through the season.
How, how has this experience been for you so far of the last couple months since the show has been, like, out in the world?
Um, honestly, it shifted my entire reality. Like, I don't, being recognized. I got recognized in the subway last night in New York City. Okay. And then my phone is
constantly blowing up with strangers giving their opinions or people just saying whatever they want
it's a weird world but I'm kind of obsessed with it I feel like you I mean this is like it kind of
feels like what you were like meant to do totally it feels like second nature when was when
van der pump rules first kind of came into your life what was your first experience with it was
it watching the original show or working at sir like how how did you first begin
come aware of what Vanderpump rules was. Okay, so I was living in Austin and my friend showed me
the Real Housewives of Beverly Hills and I was obsessed with Lisa. Then my ex-boyfriend was like,
well, if you like Beverly Hills, you should watch Vanderpump since I've always worked in a restaurant.
He's like, it's a bunch of servers. I was like, okay. Yeah. Stasi had me immediately. And she carried
the whole series. So yeah. After that, I, I didn't watch the middle seasons though. Okay. I would get,
I would be like, this is too repetitive. I'm bored. So then I would, I would,
watched the first couple seasons and then like around scandibal. Yeah. But otherwise I'm a I'm a housewife fan.
Those like OG seasons are just, I mean, too good. Yeah, like injected and you know, it's, it's,
it's amazing. And Stasi really was like OG Queen Bee energy. Yeah, she still is. I don't think there's
anything better than season one banner pump rules. I'm sorry. It's pretty crazy. And I mean,
but then it's like, so you coming into being on Vanderpump Rules being part of this,
you know, new cast.
You knew what this, like, iconic thing was in the past.
What was that like for you to kind of put yourself in that frame of mind of, like,
now we have to try and do that.
Yeah.
Well, that is one thing.
People are like, you have big shoes to fill and everything.
And, you know, I see that all over the internet.
That's what everyone says.
But honestly, when the opportunity came out of way, I was like, you know what?
With the billions of people on this earth, if anyone can save this show.
and someone else to fill these shoes,
bitch, it's going to be me.
I mean, I think you kind of have to have that
energy.
Because if you're like overthinking it
or, you know, trying to do
some version of what you think you're supposed,
like, you really have to just like
have the personality and let it, let it rip.
Yeah, and I mean, I just shine whether I'm on camera or not.
So when I started working at Sir,
on my first day, Garamo, the owner,
he was like, are you going to be on TV one day?
And I was like, Garamo, now that I'm here, there's going to be a TV show back at Sir.
And that was two years before there were ever auditions.
Right.
Wait, so you said about, like, around Scandival, you sort of like dipped back into Van der Pum.
When was that compared to when you started working at Sir?
So I started working at Sir two weeks before Scandaval broke out.
So I saw Sir before and after Scandival.
It's fun.
There's people that are like, do you know I predicted, you know, COVID would happen?
It's like you predict it.
You're like, there's going to be renewed interest somewhere around here.
Exactly.
No, 100%.
That is so, was it, because obviously by the time that happened, like the main players in
Scandivol weren't still working at Sir.
But I imagine that there was just kind of this like thing in the air of like, oh my God,
people are coming in, people like what's going on?
What was that like kind of just like being brand new during that time and sort of knowing
what a big moment was happening?
Um, well, it was the busiest, busiest I've ever been in my life working in a restaurant.
Yeah.
It was like the terrible situation of Scannerwald made people want to come even more.
Right.
Which to me was insane.
Because in season 11, it was like, no one really came to serve.
But during season 10, shit hit the fan.
Like that whole summer, I made the most money I've ever made in a restaurant.
You're like, oh, yeah, like, I, um, you know, I've seen Ariana before.
Like, yeah, give me the tips.
Exactly.
But they don't ever really come into Sir, so I didn't see them that often.
They did film Summit, sir.
Yeah.
But I think it was exciting for people who loved the OG, like early seasons of Vanderpump
rules to think about like what is what is this going to be if we, you know, take a step back
and rework and get back to like the original concept of the show, which was these group of
people working at the restaurant, servers, bartenders, working.
working, playing, hooking up, partying, like that kind of crew.
So what was it like for you kind of getting that opportunity and also like finding out
who was kind of coming on this journey with you and that you were going to like do this show
together?
Well, the whole plot of the show is basically West Hollywood.
Like you're always going out with your friends, everyone that works together.
It just turns into like a big family.
But with working out, sir, there's so.
many people there who were aspiring in different avenues of the entertainment industry.
And a lot of them are actors or actresses and they didn't want to be on reality TV.
They like have this mindset of if I'm on reality TV, it's going to ruin my career for acting.
Yeah.
So then there was not many boys who wanted to be on the show.
So it was really all the girls competing against each other.
Because when I looked at my competition of men and me, I was like, are they even going to pick
any of y'all compared to me?
Like, no, I'm dead ass.
So I just watched all the girls
kind of hunger games fight for their spots
in the show.
And just the way that everyone started
switching up on each other
and it was like survival of the fittest.
Me and my best friend Ryan,
we always talk about,
they should have made a show
of the process of getting on Vanderpump rules.
It was psychotic.
That is, yeah, because you always do,
I mean, as long as this show has been on,
there always are people that sort of pop
in the background or we get little, you know, bits and pieces of, oh, this person was at this party or, you know, there's, and you know that there's more people that work there than sort of the core cast of the show. But it is so interesting to think about when an opportunity like this comes around, which it doesn't very often of like, we're starting from scratch with, let's say, eight of you, but there's 20 people in the room.
Exactly. Figuring out who are going to be the eight. I mean, even I feel like you can tell that watching the show between.
what you have going on with Natalie and Demi, what you have going on with Kim and Natalie.
Like, it does feel like the women in the cast, there's a lot of kind of feeling unsettled in those
relationships.
Well, we have a lot of history together.
Like, I've been, me and Natalie have been working there coming on three years.
Demi's been there eight years.
Mark has been there like four or five.
So there's a lot of just drama that has taken place for years now.
And then all of a sudden they throw a camera in your face and it's like resolve all your issues or like show the world what the hell is going on in your life right now.
Yeah.
It definitely feels like we're sort of picking up on threads that were existent before the cameras showed up.
But we're just kind of like diving into where things are right now.
Yeah.
And people, I don't think a lot of people understand my relationship with Marcus and Kim.
Yes.
Because cameras came up at a time where I have.
had already gone through hell and back with them for over a year prior to filming. So when people
think I'm kind of like overreacting or you know how I rage texted them? Sure. And I'm calling them all
those names. Well, it's because I was fed up with their shit because I had just, I had just
experienced, like this constant turmoil with the two of them for so long. And then we get this
opportunity to be on the show. And I'm like, look, I am not fucking dealing with all this dumb shit that
I've been dealing with for the last like year and a half now that my dreams are finally coming
true. And then when they just kept doing all this stupid shit on camera, I was like, you know what?
I am not going to like let y'all ruin my like moment to shine because y'all are so miserable
together. It is kind of crazy because like obviously for me watching the show, I'm getting to
know all of you for the first time. And, you know, the first episode, we meet Kim and Marcus.
We're this couple. We've been together. I guess 10 months is like the magic number that we're
that we're going with.
But then immediately
we're breaking up,
we're getting back together,
we're fighting,
I'm falling out of love,
no,
now we're celebrating our 10 month anniversary.
He's re-asking her to be his girlfriend
for the next 10 months
or the next 10 years or whatever that's going to be.
Like it feels like
there has not been one moment
that it's just felt like,
okay, yeah,
this is just a normal.
I mean, like,
when you're an adult
and you're in a relationship,
you're just like together.
mind you, they're in their 30s.
And it's literally, it feels like every day, almost every hour, there's like shifting sands
beneath that relationship.
And I have to imagine when you're close with them, obviously you love them and want the best
for them, but also it's like make up your mind.
What's going on?
Yeah.
And a lot of people, I've been given feedback of being like, well, you don't need to be
in the middle of their relationship, all this stuff.
I'm like, well, they were my closest friends at one point.
Like, I cared so much about Marcus and Kim.
and Marcus was going through losing his family.
Kim's in this relationship where she's always crying and upset.
Like, I have a heart, so I'm trying to, like, be there for them.
Yeah.
Granted, you do see, like, what transpires on the show was, like, my last straw.
So ever since then, you got me fucked up if you ever think I'm, like,
going to be in the middle of anyone's relationship ever again.
Yeah.
Or deal with toxic relationships because you got me fucked up.
It's so good.

I wanted to ask about kind of you having
different relationships with both Kim and Marcus
individually because I thought it was interesting
in the last couple episodes seeing
obviously you've been in a tough spot with both of them
but how you decided to pull Kim
to have that talk in the alley
and like really specifically get on, figure out stuff with her and kind of where you guys stand and how to move forward.
And having that conversation and specifically not wanting Marcus to be there, you know, he comes out kind of tries to crash in the alley.
What was that kind of thought process of like, okay, if we can't all be good, I at least want to have this talk with Kim?
Well, the 100% true reason I'm going to have to say for the reunion.
Okay.
Because I don't want anyone to know.
Sure.
But when it comes to my girls, it's like, you can expect dumb shit out of a boy,
but when it's a girl and she, like, betrays you, it just hits different.
Yeah.
But then I have like a soft spot for my girls.
So then I'm like, oh, but I love her.
Like, no matter, even if she's done me so dirty, I think she's so brainwashed and
obsessed with Marcus that she can't even see what she's done.
So I'm just like, okay, whatever.
I know who she was before she started dating Marcus and before the show.
So I'm like, okay, I want to enjoy maybe the rest of the season with her and not be fighting and stuff like that or holding this grudge against her that I was because I instantly was like, girl, I don't even want to fuck with you anymore because when a girl betrays you is just hits different than when a boy does, like for me.
I know what you mean.
And I think also getting getting that clarity of like, it's one thing if we're fighting with each other, but then what happened with the texting.
and stuff was that it seemed like they were sort of spreading other things that you had said
and kind of that, like, that trust of like, we're friends so we can talk shit, but that isn't
going and being spread around to everyone else. And that's that trust piece that I think really,
I understood why you were like, hey, that can't happen if we're going to be close.
Well, plus, they wanted to build an army against me. What it was is Marcus and Kim pushed me to my
limit and they messaged me first and I responded like y'all are idiots like you're just pissing me off at this
point so out of retaliation of me being like y'all look dumb you're going to go tell everyone at surge
it's the dumbest shit that I've said like behind closed doors which mind you do am i just talking crap
behind my like by myself you don't think they're saying things too I could go tell everyone the things
they've said I'm not that type of person so I don't know it's just messy and I don't I don't think that
I deserved that.
Mm-hmm.
But here we are.
It just shows their true colors.
I did have to say, it gave me a good laugh at that pool party when you approached Gabby.
Oh, the Michaela, you look hot.
Gabby, you look like a dumb fucking bitch.
What, okay, so Gabby is not, we're not seeing much of her on the show.
Like, where does she fit into like the Sir picture?
Because obviously there's a lot more people that aren't always on the show.
Okay, so she was a server at Sir when I started.
Uh-huh.
And then she wasn't really around for a long time because she was pregnant and she travels and does all that kind of stuff.
But then, you know, as soon as we start auditioning, then she wants to be best friends with everyone.
And she's been up Kim's ass like ever since because she's like one of Kim's minions.
So when she messaged me, you know, call me low class and all that stuff, honestly, I do think I should have directed that energy towards Marcus and Kim.
But I thought in the moment, you know what?
She already gets on my nerves.
this is my opportunity to be like, you're a dumb bitch.
She said there's more class than saying it to my face.
So next time I saw her, I let her know.
Okay, well, if you want to know how I feel about you, you're a dumb fucking bitch.
Sometimes like honest, open communication is all we can ask for.
And I don't mind.
Like, once you cross me, it's like, I just don't even want to fuck with you no more.
Yeah.
So, I mean, I guess that being said, it's like when you think about Marcus and Kim that you've
had this, you know, close relationship with in the past.
How do you think about the future and deciding how much to let them back in, what type
of relationship you want to have in the future?
Well, I spent the whole year figuring that out and just reflecting.
But I think where I'm at is I just love them for who they are.
I would never trust Marcus.
Like, I will never tell, Marcus is not the kind of person you could tell something to and
expect for it to ever stay in his mouth.
Like, he tells me everything, everyone else tells him.
And it might not even be shit talking.
Just like inappropriate things that like maybe I shouldn't know about someone or whatever.
So he's done it a thousand times.
He'll throw me under the bus in front of people.
Like if I say, like I said that Jason was attractive or something.
And then as soon as the camera came up, he's like, oh, Venus, tell me what you said or
tell Jason what you said about him yesterday.
Like that kind of energy.
I'm like, bro, I'm not going to tell you things if you're going to try to make me look bad or like wrap me out.
And he's done that since I've met him.
So I'm good on that.
And then Kim, she will always put her man first.
And I'm sorry, I can't really trust or be loyal to someone who always defends their man even when they're wrong, even to me.
Because I, for like a year and a half, I was always team Kim.
Like Kim does no wrong and I would fight with Marcus all the time for his behavior.
and then when the table's turn and it's Mark is treating me bad, Kim is silent or crying,
letting me take the blows, never defending me.
And it's like, I'm not going to keep giving all this energy and time to someone who does not give zero percent back.
So that's where I'm at with those two.
Yeah.
I mean, I feel like that's part of figuring out like adult relationships and who's going to be there kind of as a real part of your life versus just somebody that maybe you, you know, party with or
see at work functions or whatever is like when the chips are down like who is the person that I
can go to and I think it's just as important to find out that somebody's not that person for you
as it is to find those people so it's like you know maybe it's a good learning experience it has been
and it's been in front of the whole world so yeah and truthfully I needed it because it really put
put me in my place of being like no just focus on you yeah do you feel like you and Natalie
have been able to like come together at all over the issues that you've both had with
Kim and Marcus?
A hundred percent.
Like I love Natalie with all my heart.
She's so pure.
She's perfect to me.
Marcus, the way everyone treats Natalie rubs me so wrong that I lose respect for those people.
Because I'm just like, Natalie hasn't done anything.
Like all of the drama and everything is out of their insecurities of being jealous or just
feeling inferior to Natalie.
So when I'm watching on a fold, it just makes me sit back and be like, wait, I consider you all such close friends, but your behavior is so ugly that I don't morally align with those types, that type of behavior.
So it makes you take a step back and then just root for Natalie because she's the underdog because she's being like bullied and painted out to be someone or doing things that she absolutely has not because there's no way in hell.
Natalie has ever wanted Marcus or even looks at Marcus in any type of way.
Do you feel the same about Natalie's issues with Demi?
Because that's something watching the show.
I'm kind of like, I don't really get like what Natalie is doing wrong here.
I think that Natalie just irritates them.
Yeah.
And so they want to have reasons to hold against her to like, I guess, make sense of why they're treating Natalie that way to themselves.
Yeah.
I don't know.
Yeah, I think it's tough.
I mean, you know, I don't want to say like if people are acting different.
because there are cameras there, they're trying to do something for the show, but I do think
there can sometimes be a mentality where it's like if we have one person who kind of is the easy
target or is like, you know, easier to come for, then it makes it easier for everybody else
to kind of like figure out how to orient their stuff. And if Natalie kind of becomes that person,
then it can start to feel like it's like piling up. And I agree that like watching
the show, I don't really feel like Natalie is like doing anything. She's not, but that, all that
drama is still going on today. Like, with or without cameras, they're still, they still have this
animosity towards Natalie for reasonings that they make up in their own head. So, I don't know.

I'm curious, what has your read been on Angelica?
Because she came in a few episodes into the season.
And I...
Angelica seems like somebody to me
where she presents one thing very strongly off the bat,
but then we're starting to see
more different layers and sides of her that maybe suggests that she has a little bit of like
a calculated thing going on.
Yeah, I don't really know what to think because I wasn't really that close to her during
filming.
Right.
So I didn't film that much with her.
Yeah.
She, you know, she's there for some things.
But truthfully, I kind of kept my distance because she was so right or die for Marcus and
Kim.
Like she comes in and immediately is their friend.
Yeah.
When they're my ops during the season.
So why the hell would I talk to her?
And then she becomes, you know, ops with Audrey.
Uh-huh.
So, and Audrey's my girl.
Audrey seems like the best time ever.
She is the most fun person to party with.
Yeah.
I mean, it makes me feel old watching her be like,
I'm 22.
It's so fun to turn 22.
Yeah.
Yeah, I kind of feel that way when I'm around her sometimes.
But like, she can throw her ass so nice.
She's just sexy.
And I just love, she's such a good time.
Yeah.
But yeah, the way that.
Seeing Angelica tell Lisa Vanderpump about the penis pump in the shower, I'm like, why are we doing this?
It was just giving pick me.
I'm like, who is going to tell Lisa Vanderpump?
Then again, I did tell Lisa Van der Pump the day that I met her that I hadn't had sex in like seven years.
Well, I mean, that's her dream.
To hear her talk about, to hear her talk about, you know, having to put out, I think, I think Lisa was right there with you.
Yeah, you're right.
No, it just is, it is, it's a specific vibe when it's like, this woman is our boss.
She's like our, you know, our elder, our mentor in some ways.
Like there are, it's a different kind of relationship than the rest of you guys on the cast.
And I think that obviously Lisa can be cheeky.
She can have fun with certain things.
She wants to know what's going on with a lot with, with, you know, your dynamics.
But like, come on now.
Well, actually, you know what?
will say it's honestly not that bad when it comes to Lisa because Lisa is actually when you don't
see her on camera and everything like in real life like in person she is very humorous witty
kind of vulgar sexy so maybe when she's in boss mode it might come off a little awkward
but like if we were on the streets she would be laughing or like you know she's a big personality
Yeah.
And honestly, outside of that, the whole penis pump thing is just to make Jason look bad.
She just has like this vendetta against him because her ego got hurt that he didn't want her in the way that she wanted him.
Yeah.
And suddenly she's like very injured from jujitsu class.
She's like doing everything to make him look bad.
And Jason is my little angel puppy.
And I guard him with my life.
So whatever Angelica wants to do to him, like it's on.
Girl, don't fuck with Jason.
Look, Jason and Chris, I feel like every time they have a scene together, I feel like I'm on a different planet.
It's like, everybody's like, what's going on with the OnlyFans cousins?
Like, they're having their like Mother's Day photo.
It's just like, Chris, it's such a different vibe that I'm like, I don't know what's going on here, but it is, I find it quite entertaining.
They're in their own world.
Yes.
Okay.
And as the rest of the season plays out, I think people get to see more about like who they are and their personalities rather than the,
just like the little random things that they're filmed doing the first half of the season.
And, you know, they're, they're just goofy.
So, and Jason's just like a ding bat a lot of the times.
But I love it.
Yeah, I mean, he, he, big personality.
Also, I mean, he's been on other reality shows, too.
So I think that's an interesting kind of thing where, like, a lot of you guys are
navigating having personal lives and relationships and things on camera for the first time,
for him, it's like, oh yeah, like I've done this twice.
Exactly.
It was like second nature to him.
Yeah.
And it makes, I mean, you can tell that he just is like totally himself.
Yeah.
No, Jason always is the same person 24-7.
Yeah.
He's very interesting human being.
We're getting into the like back end of the season.
I know you mentioned before we started recording that episode like eight, nine people are like
not ready for.
So I don't want you to tell me everything that's going to happen.
but like in terms of sort of the the arc of the season yeah just like tell me a little bit about
what to expect um you really get to see the whole group come together kind of get the redemption
arc of all of our relationships and see where we're at and you see it from a different lens than
you do the whole first half of the season because we go off together and you get to see us on vacation
I don't know if I can say that, but like, I don't know.
Some things come full circle and then some things go head to head.
And that transpires until the finale.
Whose, who's, like, behavior or choices were you most surprised by during the season?
Angelica.
Okay.
Because she came in new.
So I'm like, what does this girl got?
What's she going to bring?
And she brought stuff.
She's a wild card.
She is a wild card.
I don't know what to expect out of her.
she's too unpredictable for me.
Yes.
Well, and I think that's something where a lot of you guys have known each other for two,
three years longer than that even.
And so to have somebody who's brand new,
that person could come in and sort of not make much of an impact or it seems like
with Angelica,
she really is sort of like flipping things on their heads in a way that's unpredictable.
Yeah.
I mean, she came in full throttle.
And at the same time, you know, I kind of like it.
I respect some of the things she does.
Like, I love the drama.
I love when she tries to do drama online or like whatever the case may be because that's
what we're in.
We're in drama-filled reality TV.
Yeah.
I just don't like when people go on TV and try to like character assassinate people.
Like I think there's a difference between witty dumb drama and like trying to ruin people's
reputations or make them look worse than what they really are.
Mm-hmm.
And to me, like, I just can't respect that.
I can, we can go round for round all day long.
But if you try to, like, ruin someone's reputation or make people look bad, like the way she does, I'm not about that.
Okay.
I'm curious for you, now that you've done this first season, you said it's been, you know, you're having a great time with it.
Is there anything that potentially in, like, a future season that you want to bring on to the show that you feel like we're not necessarily going to get to see this season, like a side of you, you know, something that you want to do, a place you want to go.
like what's what do you see like in the future um i definitely see the future my sister who's my twin
you know with the same red hair i want her to move to l.a i want her to be on the show with me
they have they have jason and chris like don't you want another venus 2.0 we're the same person
okay you know are we moving to l.a what's going on okay she she's in the room with us
she's nodding her head hopefully in two months we'll see what
what happens.
Okay.
Okay.
Other than that, you know, I've been working on a book for like 13 years.
Okay.
Since I was a freshman in high school.
And I'm hoping next season maybe do like the photo shoot for the cover.
Okay.
Get it published.
I'm already working on my second book.
So it's like I'm waiting because I want a document.
Wait, what kind of book is this?
I already wrote a whole book about my life.
Okay, about your life.
Okay.
I'm like, are we writing novels?
Like what's going?
No, it's a whole ass memoir.
Okay.
Okay.
Well, if there's already a second book on the way, I'm excited to see clearly some shit has gone down.
Oh, I can confidently say I guarantee it's going to be one of the best books in the Bravoverse to ever be written.
Okay.
And I stand on that.
Have you read any of the Bravo, like, memoirs?
No. I don't even need to.
Okay. Period.
I would say, I've read a bunch of them. I would say it's a mixed bag.
Yeah. I've read, I've heard reviews on TikTok of something.
something. Some very juicy and
like, how many pages we got left?
What chapter are we on? Did you read
Did you read DeReed's book? No, I haven't
read it. I don't know if it's out yet. Oh, it's not?
I think she announced it, but it's
coming out this spring.
Okay. Well, you're up to par. You know your shit.
Well, look, when these books get sent to me, you gotta
get on top of it.
Well, I'm very excited to see the rest of the season.
It sounds like the reunion is going to be spicy.
And thank you so much for being here to chat about it.
No, thanks for having me.
