Starting point is 00:00:00 Hey guys I'm sorry I was sending a text A shady ass text What were you going to say? It's about the lineup for tomorrow Oh work Okay Look at you
Starting point is 00:00:13 Yeah Shod Shoddy boots Shod Word of the week Shod It's spelled just like shade but Pronounced shod
Starting point is 00:00:22 Shod Listen If Marie sounds off It's because we went to trap karaoke last night and it is the thing to do if it's in your city you have to freaking go it's so much fun
Starting point is 00:00:35 I mean I will say though the ratio of men to women was like 10 to 2 when I walked in I was like oh it's gonna be some niggas in here that's what I said and then the 8 dudes that were there were all gay and then like 2 straight ones that came with us
Starting point is 00:00:51 I mean it was a good night cause you know straight dudes be ruining things but i was like it's gonna be some i was like somebody's gonna get me a hennessy shot i was like it's gonna be a good night yeah okay yeah i might find a new hoe for 2020 in here tonight andrew you know any um rap songs rap song yeah i know yeah andrew's a barb i am a barb yes so you wait hold on so you know a whole nikki song from top to bottom oh i know multiple yeah like you could rap the song yeah what's your favorite i mean roman's revenge is a classic oh give us a
Starting point is 00:01:24 A little preview, a little taste, a little amuse-bouche. Okay, because this is the thing about trap karaoke. You go up there, they play the music, and then they stop, and you have to do it a cappella. And they don't provide the words. They don't provide the words. You got to be able to just rap it or, like, up there by yourself from the heart. And it's performance, though.
Starting point is 00:01:41 It's like, don't come up there and just try to do the words. Like, you have to give them a show. People were dropping it low. People were popping it up. People were ripping the split of their dress. You have to pretend that you are that person. I mean, people were in their church heels. People were going
Starting point is 00:01:54 Oh my god That lady that had On her work shoes You Dropping it low In a church Kitten And tell-aloft
Starting point is 00:02:02 Nine West Situation Yeah they looked like Usher acolytes It was great I don't Okay well Go ahead Andrew
Starting point is 00:02:09 Give us a little taste of you Were there any Nicki songs last night Surprisingly Not surprisingly No No No right
Starting point is 00:02:16 Wait no no no They did They did Piggy Bank Oh yeah Which is a good one That's like when Nicki was Nicki
Starting point is 00:02:23 right that's mixed mixtape nikki yeah mixtape nikki was superb i think she should go back to that that's how she got the deal sis then you make the money and sign the contract and you go pop okay let's stop her kmart merch let's stop the deflecting let's go andrew i am i'm trying to deflect because i don't want to do that well okay well give us like a tiny piece like your favorite apart yeah oh my god no because i usually stop i don't say the words like you know because it all says nigga nigga nigga so he'd be in his house though like no drop it low then he'd be on his his his piece whatever piece he has for the week peace for the week peace for the week do you have a piece for the week i had a piece last week you did yeah i don't know i don't feel like talking
Starting point is 00:03:15 about them no more because they'd be listening to the podcast um why do you guys have to ruin it for everybody it wasn't really that memorable i mean it was fine but you want to yelp it how many stars bitch i'm gonna tell you off-site okay off-site andrew piece of the week uh i was supposed to have a piece of the week last night and it was so unfortunate why patrick patrick downtown literally like a 12 inch dick no i don't believe it you got a picture yeah i do have a picture we need to see it yeah i gotta see and something better be in the photo for scale so we can see no you understand you will see it 12 andrew you can take a 12 inch dick i only ate breakfast and then so you can so you can eat some dick and then he just like kept on like pushing
Starting point is 00:04:03 it further and further back like the time oh i was like pushing what back and then he was ultimately and i was like he said he was free and then he was like okay come over and i was like okay i'm coming over and then he said uh some other time i can't it's too late now what that's not 12 inches that looks that's soft that's right i don't that don't look like 12 inches friend i mean from this angle wait let me say let me see uh eight no i would say at least double-didge really yeah this is not 12 maybe nine that's not 12 inches wow this is nice though really nice this is really good so you complimenting the penis the whole thing like the abs there are other pictures of you if you want to see his face which way do we scroll
Starting point is 00:04:54 is that him that's him oh okay he's like a few inches shorter than me but yes yes yes but you're six one i'm six two okay you don't need somebody tall yeah it's okay okay andrew i see him in his calvins okay that's not the dick that i expected when i see him with clothes i know it's perfect wolf gwart so we postponed it i suppose and it was just not worth starving myself the entire day for i mean you didn't get none so it wasn't worth it obviously no wow The lesson here is eat what you want So you can get your piece of the week Cause they may or may not cancel on you
Starting point is 00:05:35 I mean have you had him before You've had him before No We've tried to make it work before I canceled before Now it's his turn Okay so now y'all are even We're even
Starting point is 00:05:46 But that's fun That's the chase Like wanting to see somebody And the build up And then it gets canceled But you get three of those You don't get three of those You actually get two of them
Starting point is 00:05:57 You get two of them You get two Everybody gets to cancel at least twice. No, you get to cancel one time, one time, and then I get to cancel one time, and then that's it. There's no more cancellation after that. To be honest, when people are so available, that makes me dry.
Starting point is 00:06:12 Girl. You got to give me some kind of chase. You was just free. No. During the week, you don't have a day job. You don't have a night job. You don't work in the middle of the day. A night job?
Starting point is 00:06:24 Nah, Sydney. They had a plan last night. Last night is the weekend. when did you make the plan uh yesterday morning see no that's too no no and then he said the window started at three and this is why i was mad because i was like okay i'm hungry now at noon you know for lunch and i'm like okay if i could just make it past three and then it got further and further and i was literally waiting that's you sis you i know you should have been like uh no and see that's i was talking to sydney about this the other day i don't like feeling like that
Starting point is 00:06:57 so for me like I'm not somebody that's gonna like just keep patiently waiting for you to make space or make time for me once I start to feel like I'm getting played or I start to feel stupid or I start to feel desperate I I start deleting people's phone numbers I'm not even gonna like lash out at you I'm just not gonna I'm just not gonna reach out I'm making it so that I can't reach out to you no more I know I'm deleting numbers and I'm letting you text me and then I'm gonna be like I know who this is it's okay to be played a little bit guys
Starting point is 00:07:27 not for me because you're the one that's playing oh baby baby what you talking about do you know me does anybody ever play you
Starting point is 00:07:39 oh all the time I can't believe really who's playing you that was many many moons ago but I mean yeah people have played
Starting point is 00:07:47 games with me not as well I'm just saying as an adult like I'm not you're not making me feel like a 12 year old
Starting point is 00:07:55 like I know what does and does not work for me and I'm the only person that's allowed to waste my time just me that is
Starting point is 00:08:03 that is a word okay message that's the only oof I love that I'm the only person that's allowed to waste my time
Starting point is 00:08:08 we should make that merch we haven't said merch in a while now that we have merch merch shod we gotta we gotta make up
Starting point is 00:08:15 some more shirts Andrew what do you want to say I want yes yes yes yes yes yeah we do need that
Starting point is 00:08:22 yes yes yes yes yes We haven't been saying any catchphrases in a while We gotta sell the merch that we have I think we're selling We haven't seen anything I have no We have none So should we do that
Starting point is 00:08:40 For like ongoing Piece of the week Are you trying to make segments now I'm trying For 2020 I just wanna Be a little bit more together you know by being on your phone the entire podcast and texting because that's not
Starting point is 00:08:58 really being together sis you're right you got here you even put your phone down and i was late see i gave marie such a hard time see i didn't even bring it up yeah i gave you such a hard time last week and that's the way the universe works so that's why you can't be so self-righteous people you see how that is with the same token you be giving somebody a hard time it's gonna come back and then you're gonna be in the same spot as them and then you're gonna be like ah now i see why they were late how late were you today you're only like 10 minutes late i was 18 minutes okay andrew i was i was down you gotta round up i was almost like marie last week yeah she was 22 minutes late i think it was last oh i thought i was 20 minutes late it was 22 we added two minutes
Starting point is 00:09:40 to it because we could go back and listen to the episode and see exactly how many minutes no but you said that you wanted to stop being late in the last solo episode i think that was your news new year's resolution i think that was my resolution i'm trying to i'm trying to stop being late to everything so much yeah but it's just like we've talked about this before there's no way you can be on time in new york city unless you leave your house an hour and a half before that's not true it is i know people who are on time to things i know people who are early i just hate being early. Every time I see them on time, I'm like,
Starting point is 00:10:17 ugh, you have nothing else to do. Except be here on time. Sydney, it seems like you have an issue with people being available and having time to do stuff. The nerve. I do. The audacity. I do. The negrosity. Well, you know what the thing is, is that
Starting point is 00:10:35 I used to be on time all the time. Because you didn't have nothing to do. Exactly. And to be first, it doesn't feel good when you're just waiting around. I hate that. It sucks. Anytime we do the knit and I get there early, I'll be like, ugh, this is gross. And then you
Starting point is 00:10:52 see people who were there before you and you're like, you literally, this is your night. Yeah, but I'll be sitting there by myself and I'm like, I'm never going to be on time again. I'd rather run in a cloud of, sorry, than just be sitting there for 20 minutes by myself. It kind of makes my
Starting point is 00:11:08 nipples hard being late. You know? Just that that rush that you get the anxiety especially when you text somebody like hey almost there and they don't write back because they're just like bitch i know you're not near no is that why you double texted this morning that you were late girl and i was like i don't i don't mind that you're i'm used to at this point oh shod shoddy boots facts friend not shod facts No, that's shocking. Facts.
Starting point is 00:11:39 You have gotten your nails done consistently, like, for the past three months now? Yeah, but I let them sit for, like, three or four weeks. And it's just, it's, I like seeing you like this. Well, because I'm bald friend, and I need people to know that I'm a female. Oh, so you can't have raggedy nails and no hair. I just need people to know that I'm a female. That's it. That's all.
Starting point is 00:12:03 People know that you're a woman. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. Shut up, sir. uh excuse me sir i just i can't i don't know also my nails were not growing they were like they kept peeling so i was like well maybe if i do this stupidest thing they'll grow and they've been growing but this lady every time i get them done they cut them down and it's like well what's the point your hands look so sexy like i'm very attracted to them girl you're just horny did you get some this morning no i didn't i did not i i used that doc johnson there's a lot i used it in
Starting point is 00:12:36 i mean i might as well talk about it on the on the pod you know i heard my landlord having sex yesterday and it yo when you say landlord it sounds so funny she is my landlord i give her the rent she's not your landlord she comes down and like checks on things she makes sure the heat is on i complain to her all the time and she makes things happen wow but he was on in her apartment baby oh baby let me tell you now my landlord is uh you know like she's quote quote plus size but when i heard the moans coming out of the room i was like oh that's a size zero a size zero so the moans were faint it sounded they sounded real skinny girl they sound like low blood pressure I'm not understanding.
Starting point is 00:13:24 It was real high-pitched. It didn't sound like my friend at all. I was like, is there a white woman in there? What's going on? Felt very porno. How long did you stay there with your creepy ass? How long did you sit and listen? Oh, the whole time.
Starting point is 00:13:38 The whole fucking time. What I'm going to do, go downstairs? Yes, go home, Roger. Bye, Kramer. I sat down and said, I mean, it was. She was late to work. It was at least 10, 10, 12 minutes. Wait, you were there for 10, 12 minutes?
Starting point is 00:13:56 Mm-hmm. Is that gross? A little bit. That's not gross. A little bit. Don't listen to Andrew. It was gross. A little bit nasty.
Starting point is 00:14:05 I was, like, intrigued. I wasn't turned on. I was just like. Weren't you, though? You didn't feel a little rush? I mean, he was breaking that damn wall down. I was like, go off, King. it's your world
Starting point is 00:14:22 you made her in here that's that Wakanda for everything or Wakanda for the weekend for the weekend I mean I would like to hear you one day
Starting point is 00:14:38 what oh my god are you trying to me to me in the studio right now you would like to hear me this is what I sound like when I have sex? What you trying to do right now? Yo, baby.
Starting point is 00:15:01 That's great. Smoke break? Really? Yo. I'm just saying, I just laughed the entire time. It's not necessarily true, but you know, whatever.
Starting point is 00:15:13 I mean, I'm very loud. I'm a loud one. You know, I'm a vocal person. you i might not talk that much in conversation you do though but you do are you sure chatty kathy i feel like that's you marie you're the one that talks the most we can run and off the pod we could run back the table this tonight no this week's episode sis on and off the pod andrew speak on it there are sometimes that yeah you just sort of fall back a little bit because sydney be on her phone that's not always why though when sydney is like locked
Starting point is 00:15:51 in and and like present and looking at her phone to like read questions that people have sent us or like pre-written stuff she's on it but like for the most part she does be literally like what she did today she'll be on her phone like well let me see if i can set up my piece of the week for next week no i feel like that's what you do no never i was gonna post a picture for us um but Yeah, you know, if we ever go on a trip and, you know, I'm in the other room and my friend brings back somebody, I'm going to put a glass to the wall. I might even go to the door and put my hair. Gross.
Starting point is 00:16:29 Yeah, I just want to know. Nobody is interested in hearing what their friend sounds like, getting their backbone out. Nobody? Just me? I mean, I feel like I would want to hear a little bit, but not 10 to 12 minutes. Oh, I had time, sis. Did you, though?
Starting point is 00:16:46 You live so far from work. Do you? I was running late, but I had time. And then she came out, and she's like, you were here the whole time? Yes, sis. You didn't hear the blow dryer? Oh, you couldn't hear it. No, because you stopped blow drying.
Starting point is 00:17:00 No, you couldn't hear the blow dryer because she was too busy getting that dun-dun-dun. She was too busy getting her back blown out. I feel like I was a missed opportunity right there. Yeah, it was fine. I mean, I want all my friends to feel it and have fun, live their life. And I mean, to see my landlord just coming out in a towel. She had a skirt on, but she pulled it all the way up above her titties. She put the skirt on as a dress like an old person.
Starting point is 00:17:29 Oh, Lord. You know, and I've seen her naked. So I was just thinking about the whole situation. I think that I would, I think that we would all be curious just to hear what it sounds like for our friends to have sex. But I think all of us would be embarrassed if we came out and our friends were standing there having caught a gasp. Like, and she ain't got no shame. So the fact that she had shame, she was like, wait, you were here the whole time. I said, yeah, I was.
Starting point is 00:17:58 And I looked her dead in the eye. I was like, yep. You're gross, friend. and then she didn't address that like obviously I heard she's like did you hear anything and I was quiet and then I got right in the group chat so she did address it in the group chat I was like
Starting point is 00:18:13 yo somebody had fun this morning yeah but morning sex is nice I feel like I haven't had morning sex in a long time Andrew it's always at like 2 o'clock in the morning ah well you be having late night
Starting point is 00:18:29 sex night out yeah night out not morning person sex no natural light no it doesn't do it for me but you're so pretty but you're like skin is like alabaster oh my god thank you this is the first time that you guys have ever really been nice to me what and we saw those kind of i was still kind of being a little shady alabaster is a compliment for you i don't know what that word means it means super white the white it means porcelain white and i've seen i've seen your back thank you it's a nice back so that paper plates those are cute little styrofoam the little scoop plate cute it gets the job done it does i could i could see
Starting point is 00:19:09 somebody having fun with you and you think that we're not nice to you that is that's crazy is that really crazy to wrap your mind around i kissed you on your forehead no that's what was not nice this u.s stuff on your lips i mean you guys wanted me to sing nikki minaj and i was like no i'm not falling for this trap because i know that you know you was gonna say the word no no no because then you guys would just be like just making roasting me well okay so we went to trap karaoke and alex did megan the stallion and he was so fucking good i have a newfound respect for him what he was great like alex was great but you have a newfound respect to him because he sang a ratchet ass megan the stallion song well it was his whole performance i want to see him on hustle
Starting point is 00:19:57 and flow wow and i was like if you just apply that to your comedy no that's kidding it's shot sorry i'm joking no that's not shots that's mean that's mean that's mean no don't don't don't take shot from from me for that he has he has great stage presence he's he's a good guy he's a great guy he was so good last night it's so intimidating because you just don't want to not know the words oh please amina got on stage and i was like i mean i'll come on stage with you I'm trying to pull Sydney up Sydney doesn't want to get on stage
Starting point is 00:20:29 she doesn't want to get on stage at all she's just like nah I'm scared you were rapping complete bars like full songs and then as soon as
Starting point is 00:20:39 we were like and you're a ham sis you be performing I was like sis come on stage with us no no no no you guys look so cute
Starting point is 00:20:46 together I was like oh um M&A shut up Sydney you guys have a podcast yeah would you guys listen
Starting point is 00:20:52 if Marie and Amina had a podcast separate from this one I would replace this one with Amina. Really? And maybe Alex. You wouldn't do such a thing. That's a lot of work to do.
Starting point is 00:21:03 You know how far we've come? What's a lot of work? A podcast. Starting a whole podcast. I would start, I would just, we would just record here and not tell you he was here. What? Andrew would not let that go down. We would get a different producer.
Starting point is 00:21:18 Are you going to pay that person? We're going to get a different producer. We'd be like, look, Alex, it's not really working out. with Andrew here. Also, Sydney's not really, you know, an asset to the podcast no more. So, here's Amina. She's a mother. And Alex, he's a thot.
Starting point is 00:21:37 Mother for thot. Yeah. Mother for thot. That's the podcast. Yeah, sure. What other news do we have? Yeah, what else is going on with you this week? Well, you know, my dresser came. we didn't put it together but it's here i got my jacket it's here like my packages are coming to
Starting point is 00:22:00 my apartment now and it's making me happy because i was tracking them a lot okay obviously this is not like you know spicy but this is what's going on in my life no i was gonna ask you a follow-up question okay sorry you're sensitive yeah um so who's gonna put the dresser together sis because i'm not coming back out there to do that for you yeah that was unfortunate yeah that was so you won't you won't i'm gonna okay task rabbit have you guys hired anybody from task rabbit no i don't trust them stranger dangers in my home why talk to me task rabbit i don't even know what that is andrew ain't got no no paintings hung up in his house yeah how did how did you put your stuff together in your home my parents helped me oh privilege okay fuck you yeah i don't relate i
Starting point is 00:22:46 can't sorry sorry saying that your parents helped you they love him my dad is a construction worker my mom's an interior designer oh that's such a cute couple wait your mom is an interior like gray saddler designs they're both retired now but yeah oh damn yeah i'm like she wouldn't do no pro bono for us she works for people that she knows now like she'll just do special projects Well, she knows us. What's your mom's name? Kathy. Kathy.
Starting point is 00:23:13 Yes, yes, yes. Kathy. Oh, my God. Alex English mom name, Capri. That was beautiful. Oh, I love that. Capri. Capri and Kathy.
Starting point is 00:23:21 Yeah. If I become a mom, like, my mom's name is Sydney. That's just too casual. It doesn't feel like a mom name. Marie feels like a mom name. Very mom. But somehow you were able to rebrand Marie. Really?
Starting point is 00:23:33 Yeah. Now when I hear somebody who has Marie, I'm like, oh, they're going to be like my friend. They're going to be cool? Yeah. They're going to be loud. I'm not lying. When I meet somebody named Marie, I'll be like, yuck. Your name is gross.
Starting point is 00:23:44 Anytime I talk about somebody that my name is Marie, they're like, oh, that's my middle name. And I always say, it's my middle name too. And they're like, oh, your name is Marie Marie? And I'll be like, mm-hmm. That would be cool, actually. No, it would not. I would take that. No, you would not.
Starting point is 00:23:57 You're such a star that Marie Marie makes sense. You should reburn. Sydney, whatever you had for breakfast this morning, I feel like I need because you are in a glorious mood. Okay, guys. So Zoloft was not working for me Cancelled I was literally having a mental breakdown I called Marie bawling
Starting point is 00:24:15 And it was not working I was not sleeping And I was stressed out And I had bad thoughts And I wasn't eating So now I'm on Wellbutrin And I feel great You hear it?
Starting point is 00:24:27 Do you hear the difference? I really do feel good It's insane I was on Wellbutrin for a while And what happened? I felt that same way at the beginning too Oh what the bitch you're saying a crash is coming don't fucking take this from me bitch i mean it's not the same
Starting point is 00:24:42 for everybody wait so what was your experience i just didn't i don't know i liked at the beginning of the i was just like i no i don't think that it is working but you don't know what to really like apply like okay if i'm am i just having a bad time or you know yeah all these other factors so i don't know might not be in the well-being trend so how long were you on it for a few months like two or three months and you were happy for the first yeah and it was like working for a little while for how long can you tell me so i will schedule some things around this happiness around this joy yeah many things right now yeah i will marie we're gonna go skating cindy's gonna teach me how to skate you want to skate skate where like bright park no no
Starting point is 00:25:24 oh ice skating is too advanced yeah roller skate oh roller skating yeah well it's the season to go ice skating though yeah but we don't we don't do things where are your rollers not that far from here there's a place that like there's a rink that's opening up like oh that's yeah is it a pop-up or it's no i think it's just the rink that's opening up they have all the like the the gross rink carpet you know what i'm talking about like that ugly like i feel like bowling alleys have that same like gross carpet too i just love skating because it reminds me when i was in california like my childhood i i always appreciate me as a kid in california because i was able to do things that city kids just
Starting point is 00:26:01 they're not really capable of doing. They don't know about skating and climbing fences. They're skating in New York, sis. They're skating in Brooklyn. They're skating for their life. They're skating to get away from something. What? I'm skating because I'm truly in love
Starting point is 00:26:17 with it and I have real talent at skating. Oh my God. Okay, Chrissy Yamaguchi. Heard you, sis. Heard you, Tara Lipinski. Yeah, that's me. Wow, these references, bitch. You're so So, Marie, your references are very hot. Shut up, Sydney.
Starting point is 00:26:33 This well, Buterin. Sydney, when I saw Sydney last night at Trap Karaoke, she was so happy and I hadn't seen you like that in so long. And me and Amina just kept screaming, well, Buterin. Well, Buterin. I was at the diner and I held Marie's hand and she let me hold her hand. Did you hold my hand? Yeah, you let me.
Starting point is 00:26:52 I don't remember that. You thought it was someone else. No, I was sitting next to Sydney. I don't remember us holding hands. I'm holding hands. Sydney's so gay. I love it. Gross.
Starting point is 00:27:02 Anyway, this diner, best waffle in the city. Yo, what's the most expensive waffle you have ever paid for? Expensive? It's like... Well, I didn't pay, so I don't know. Oh, yeah, we did not. We didn't even look at the price. It's like $16.
Starting point is 00:27:15 I didn't even look at the menu yesterday. It's like $16, $18 for this waffle. Well, it's a sexy-ass waffle. I feel like the chef put the tip of his dick in the batter or something. Yeah. Or you could just tell that the chef is like happy who works there because he makes it right. He putting Welbutrin in the waffles.
Starting point is 00:27:32 He just grating it in there like nutmeg. Okay. We want to do a holiday party too. No. We want to have a New Year's Eve party. Oh. It's a different thing. Sorry.
Starting point is 00:27:45 Holiday implies like, you know, Christmas. Well, we need to figure this out now because it's going to be the new year in three weeks. Do you guys know that? Do you guys know that? Do you guys have calendars? Oh, sorry. Well, when this comes out, I don't know when it's coming out.
Starting point is 00:28:00 When is this coming out? I think it's like coming out like the week before New Year's Eve. No, this comes out on Friday. What are y'all talking about? We do this every week. Wait, no, no, no. Because I already have an episode ready because we already recorded a solo episode. We did two.
Starting point is 00:28:18 Okay, you know, this is a weird conversation. It's hard to keep up. no i thought that the next one was this solo episode already remember the day that you came in for one episode just the solo yeah that was the 2020 vision no okay check your records and we'll put a pin on that and we'll figure it out i thought that was 2020 vision then alex and then we have another one but the one that i already have it ready oh you do yeah okay if you say so otherwise it's coming out in two weeks okay sydney you asking like when does this come out it either comes out this week or it comes out next week well i just i want to keep the fans or
Starting point is 00:28:56 the listeners like i want them to be present like what we're thinking about at the moment and that's what i'm thinking i'm like what is this yeah no i don't think that they care friend they just trying to get to work and they're like listening to us be like well how many do we have they love they literally don't care about that they love it i mean i mean we have gotten so many dms recently Not about people that are like, we love how y'all be scheduled in the pod. No one is messaging us about that. They have not. Literally, no one is like, well, I love that this came out right after Thanksgiving.
Starting point is 00:29:29 Nobody cares. No one, not at all. And they always talk about how they're like going to work or they're at work. And it's just wonderful that we're the escape from your stupid ass job. I love that, that you're sitting in your car right now or you're sitting on the, I don't know, the train, the T, is that a train system? the train or whatever the hell you're doing I take Uber I have no idea you're sitting on your llama's back on the way to work
Starting point is 00:29:52 we love it I think that it's cool that people listen to us but it's also a little bit weird no it's not it's not it's a little bit weird that I sit here in this chair and I'm talking to my friend and I say things not really thinking about them and then in a week's time
Starting point is 00:30:07 someone is listening to it and it's like and then messaging you about it it's crazy and Andrew I mean I don't know how your DM's are but they DM myself about you and it's just like okay well then why don't he just start his own pod then what would that be about i don't know you tell me okay what are your what's your what is your expertise what are you good at okay let's unpack this yeah my expertise yeah oh my god a couple
Starting point is 00:30:35 things that you think that you're like good at i guess what would it be online dating dating apps you think you're good at dating dating i i would have like a lot of funny things to say about that i think you're good at i think you're good at like hookups like you're just good at it like it happens seem like you two will be hooking up yeah you never not have a hookup no i really haven't had sex like in months now months plural when's the last time this is why like last night was such a disappointment that it didn't happen it might just feel like it's well hold on when's the last time friend uh was it october well i mean if someone if someone ate me out that doesn't count oh yeah i guess that don't count right like if somebody ate you out why would they not because
Starting point is 00:31:20 i don't want to have sex with you oh word okay you bitch it's about you it's your time you make you make the move cunt of the week okay okay so wait so you guys might have come over and told you a salad yeah hold on and you don't give them nothing uh i'll like suck them the way you said it's like you throwing throwing something in the garbage i'll throw a hot pocket in for him yo andrew it's it's late and then like after like i feel so bad but it's like do you feel bad or do you get your ass ate and then you be like and then you're like i gotta be up in the morning for work right but it's like yeah if them at the bar they're like hey like where do you live i'm
Starting point is 00:32:05 like right around the corner uh and then they're like okay i really want to eat you out they are initiating the eating out you know is that how the dialogue is for you guys i guess that's how the men be doing this i really want oh my god okay wait wait wait wait wait wait so i'm you know i'm back on these dating apps living my best life you know really trying to thrive and this guy sent me a message and it just said you gonna let me eat your ass you gonna let me eat your ass and i was like and carolina was like the answer is yes and i was like no i'm gonna say probably just you know just to keep him on his toes i was like probably have you ever gotten your ass eaten i feel like somebody tried once i feel like you're it's weird you're too like silly
Starting point is 00:32:51 To get my ass ate Yeah you're goofy I don't like the probably response Because then it makes it sound like you have like Poo poo down there No probably I said like maybe I was like maybe
Starting point is 00:33:05 It depends on what happens And everybody has poo poo down there Don't do that I don't have poo poo down there My butt is smooth today Ain't no dingleberries back there tonight sis No but I'm saying Do you use baby wipes every time
Starting point is 00:33:19 no but I haven't pooped yet today that's all I've not pooped friend I just feel like we shouldn't shame people if you know if there's a little something down there or if there's a little like a little smell it's natural
Starting point is 00:33:35 Sydney you got something you want to get off your chest something you want to get off your ass friend you just have to be honest you have to be real I said maybe and then he stopped responding to me or he was like he said Oh, I guess that's super mundane now. And I was like, I don't know if it's mundane.
Starting point is 00:33:52 I just said maybe because you asked so nicely. He was like, I'm nothing but a gentleman. And then we stopped talking. So I guess he's not going to eat my butt. But I feel like, yeah, that's when people ask me now what I'm looking for on these apps or like why I'm what I need or what I want. I'm very honest. I just feel like it's easier to just be honest. You know?
Starting point is 00:34:16 I don't know if I ever want to go back on naps. I don't think that's for me, you know? Okay. I feel like I have to, I'm already on when I'm doing comedy. I don't have to be on some more for these fucking apps. People ask you some dumbass questions and they try to do more than what it is. It's like, ah. Well, the apps suck.
Starting point is 00:34:35 I 100% agree with you that they suck, but people also, like people don't really approach me in real life at all. And you guys need to fucking stop doing that. Approach her. yes I also like when they do approach me I'll be like
Starting point is 00:34:50 ugh what a weirdo such a stranger danger how dare you you are intimidating I'm your friend and sometimes I'm scared to say stuff to you
Starting point is 00:34:59 good but I held your hand last night shut up you're not afraid to keep saying that I held your hand and I fucked up
Starting point is 00:35:05 you let me hold you shut up Sydney free waffles make me very moist yes me too free waffles make me wet
Starting point is 00:35:14 I'm so damp damp the whole booth we almost drowned in the booth yesterday that's how moist everybody was clean up on l7 for me right now it's just i am a codependent person and that's what i've i've realized that like it's it's final i am a um i am a i'm a codependent person and for however many years it was like being in a relationship being codependent and then you know i'm with i'm doing this podcast with you i'm like codependent and so now i'm just like trying to push myself
Starting point is 00:35:52 away from that and like so i have my apartment and i'm trying to get things together and i'm ordering stuff for me and you know getting my checks and i wasn't doing any of that in that relationship you weren't getting your checks i was getting my checks but i was very dependent on you weren't taking care of any of your responsibilities not really no i wasn't i'm I'm very embarrassed, but I'm just being honest, you know? And now I am. I pay my rent two months in advance now. I feel so fucking good about it.
Starting point is 00:36:24 That means the next two months are going to be late. If the first two months early, the next two months are going to be late. Yo, I paid December and January. Like, I feel, yeah, I'm doing it. I didn't do that. I got to get checks. Yeah. Well, I'm just like nervous that I will fall by the wayside just knowing myself, you know, and I've been spending. So it's just like, let's get it out of the way while I have it.
Starting point is 00:36:51 I mean, more money is coming, but it's just how I'm thinking now. And I would never have thought that in a relationship when I was in the relationship. I would just like let stuff. Yeah, I was thinking about you this morning when I woke up. I was like, I wonder what's the last time Sydney went grocery shopping. And I was like, I don't know if Sydney's ever gone grocery shopping. yeah yeah i have not i have not i've not gone grocery shopping and that's why living with at carolina's is hard too because i'm getting right back into codependency because that bitch
Starting point is 00:37:22 is always cooking she loves cooking she will fry an egg real quick she'll make a real cute salad she'll put garnish in that shit like she'll bake some bread like everything is always she do be cooking and she can cook her ass off but Sydney like you can't live your life
Starting point is 00:37:41 just like no I was gonna say sucking off on other people I am but like that's not yeah like Sydney
Starting point is 00:37:48 you haven't been grocery shopping in how many years like that is mind blowing to me but then you looking at Andrew funny because his parents
Starting point is 00:37:56 helped him put his furniture together you got a lot of nerves I was just hating I'm hating from the sidelines the nerves I'm literally cause his parents
Starting point is 00:38:03 put a little Ikea table together for him yeah it's a pot that's probably it was probably cb2 like no it was ikea okay it's it's a pot calling the kettle gay that's what's going on right now like i'm doing the same shit but yeah so it's just been hard for me transitioning as an adult like i'm i'm gonna be you know next year and so what what goals we got for the next year when you turn home um for you i i have to i have to cook i have to make my own food and i have to that's so crazy to be saying out loud but yeah i just don't cook because i'm always running around and i'm like oh i could go to this restaurant or i pick this up and get food real quick or you know somebody will
Starting point is 00:38:48 make me some food and so i feel like saying you have to cook up top already nobody listening believes that you ain't even in the supermarket sis maybe maybe start small sis maybe go to the supermarket and pick up some stuff so you have food in your house. Or just start the HelloFresh thing. Or start the HelloFresh thing. HelloFresh thing. I sent you a coupon for a free box. Yeah, they keep emailing me. Why are you smiling,
Starting point is 00:39:10 Andrew? Because there's no ads in this episode. Here you are. Because we're diligent. We're diligent with our ads, okay? Even after the ads are done, we still plug. Oh, we did a show together at Club Coming in the East Village this past week, and Sydney tried to
Starting point is 00:39:26 shout out Doc Johnson the people who sent us all the vibrators and I was like they're not paying us for this shut up and she was like
Starting point is 00:39:33 oh but the the vibrators are good and I was like it don't matter they paid me in other ways baby they paid me they definitely paid me they didn't pay me
Starting point is 00:39:41 pay me but they pay me pay me I got paid hun these vibrators are this one is big yeah I don't know
Starting point is 00:39:49 so yes I'm saying maybe start small maybe start with I'm gonna get some food in my house yeah I'm gonna get the Hello Fresh you know I ordered
Starting point is 00:39:55 ordered a vanity i ordered a rug i you know where are you ordering stuff from for your house uh wayfair all the places that you gave me coupons for love it listed need it yeah so also facebook marketplace that's like supposed to be one of the good ones i mean you know some people know how to take care of themselves early and i did know how to do that because i had a place by myself i lived in harlem i i was paying nineteen hundred dollars a month and i was getting groceries including utilities no not including utilities and i was like getting groceries and i was taking care of myself and but you also had a mouse i was a bad bitch fuck you you had a mouse you had a mouse too yeah but you had a mouse and didn't know you had a mouse no i had a field mouse because i had
Starting point is 00:40:41 a backyard okay i had a little tiny mouse yes i mean i also had a little tiny mouse my it's not Because I have a backyard. Consistently. Andrew, can you please stop? Can you do me a favor and stop? Can you please? She has a backyard. She's allowed to have a mouse.
Starting point is 00:40:57 Okay, no. But Sydney had a mouse and didn't know she had a mouse for mad long. Since how long you had your mouse? The only reason you, and you've told this, I don't know why you're being so defensive right now. Because you told the story and you said the mouse was so frustrated because there was no food in your house that one day you were in your room and it just got up on an empty pizza box and was like, what's up?
Starting point is 00:41:18 Why is there no food here? You've told that story before. So why are you acting like... Also, I had a tiny mouse too, so don't do that. You did. And I didn't have a yard. It just came from my dirty ass hoarder neighbors. It was tiny.
Starting point is 00:41:33 I'm like, did your mouse ring a bell and let you know when it's coming through? Like, yeah, I didn't know that I had a mouse for a minute. The nigga was chilling. he was chilling somewhere and then finally he was like yo what's good it happens nobody knows when a mouse actually comes into
Starting point is 00:41:51 their house until like it starts making itself you know it's apparent that hey I'm here anywho I had this apartment I got in a relationship I was really like happy to just lean on somebody and now I'm
Starting point is 00:42:07 trying to get out of it I'm working on it I'm a work in progress and that's why I have no problem saying all this stuff out loud and that's why breakups are hard because all of the bad habits you had in a relationship you gotta get out of them so that you can move forward and be
Starting point is 00:42:23 with somebody else or just yourself sure this doesn't feel inviting what? your face that's what I look like I'm just listening to you talk friend you had a lot to say
Starting point is 00:42:41 shod I'm not I'm great I know I know being my friend is exhausting
Starting point is 00:42:50 I'm so tired it's exhausting but you know the payoff it's gonna be great it's gonna be worth it what's the payoff
Starting point is 00:42:58 what's the like what are you projecting that the payoff is gonna be uh I am gonna get it together I'm gonna be
Starting point is 00:43:08 but what's the payoff for me friend seeing your friend thrive i just i'm happy to see you happy right now i just i feel like i'm not gonna say anything else because i understand that i'm being mean um so i'm not gonna say nothing else i'm literally just gonna sit here no um andrew take it back no because you're having such a good day and i feel really bad no take it down and take it it's gonna be i live in new york even if i'm having a good day something's gonna fuck it up it don't matter homeless man's gonna wipe his dick yeah i mean that's not gonna happen because cindy don't
Starting point is 00:43:42 take the train i'm gonna lose something an airpod is gonna fall out and then i'm done like i'm gonna lose my phone something's gonna happen so it's fine i you know i i cherish your opinion and you know i know that i've been bringing stuff down for like a while now so i do i just think this is this is what i'm gonna say i'm gonna say this and i'm trying to be as honest and as i'm just gonna be honest for a moment on the podcast okay it's hard for me because i'm so the opposite of everything that you just said yes to hear you say that you are like you used to live by yourself and used to take care of all your responsibilities and now you take care of none of them and you can like and that's just how you operate i have been taking care of myself like my responsibilities
Starting point is 00:44:35 forever you know I have I have both of my parents and they still are around and they're in my life or whatever but like I they taught me how to clean and cook and mop and do my own laundry and all stuff that I feel like you also at one point knew how to do but you don't do anymore and I feel like you have this job and you're making money and you're like making waves and more money is coming but I also feel like you waste a lot of money Sydney on stuff that you don't need to waste money on like eating out is expensive yeah ubers is expensive buying stuff that you like think is cool but don't really need is expensive like all that stuff is expensive so me as your friend watching you for the last year the last six months the last five years like operate like this it doesn't make
Starting point is 00:45:23 any sense to me so i feel like andrew is calling me mean but like i bite my tongue more often than not because I'd be looking at you like like what yes like what is happening I know you got a birthday coming up and like this like I'm just I'm confused and I I don't know I I people don't offer to help me with things people don't people don't cook for me people don't put my furniture together when I'm not I do all of that stuff by myself so I'm like I can't wrap my head around like anything that you're going through right now that's that's how I truly and honestly feel no because I'm like I know I'm like sister a grown-up like you're a full grown-up yeah and if you can make time to like be home and like track packages and you can make time to like pack
Starting point is 00:46:13 a bag because you know you got this this like you can plan for things that are important to you but can't plan for things that like should also be important but you just don't make time for them i just i'm that's why i'm acting like this no no no i i totally understand i think um before i was operating like uh like an alcoholic and so before i just i was like if i don't have everything in order then it's going to be like oh my alcoholism me partying too much is going to be the issue so I would always stay on top of stuff more than I was supposed to because I'm like, people will know that I've been drinking all day or I've been doing bumps or whatever. So the way I was working at my actual job, that's how I was working my life. So it was like a habit.
Starting point is 00:47:04 And then soon as I got sober, all of that stuff just wiped out. But why do you think that? You got sober and you were like, I don't have to take care of my responsibilities no more? or or I was like I just went backwards I went backwards for real I think if I would have got sober and I would have been single then I would have had to make everything right for myself but being in a codependent relationship with somebody who obviously like loved me and wants to help like I leaned on that like I leaned all the way in yeah I can see that and then that became a habit that became a habit and then that that's why there was like so much frustration because
Starting point is 00:47:50 it's like you want to help somebody and then it's like okay but you gotta help yourself right and then there was a point where I just could not I didn't know how to help myself and so yeah no it is it's embarrassing to be where I am right now but I know that I am truly working on it, so. And that's really all that we can ask for a friend. Clap it up for Zinni! Yay! Thank you for your honesty, Marie. I just, like, don't. I'm, like, frustrated.
Starting point is 00:48:17 It's annoying. I know. Like, what? Literally, today I was eating bread that I bought at Trader Joe's yesterday, and I was like, I wonder when was the last time Zinni went to the supermarket? And I was like, maybe, like, 2014?
Starting point is 00:48:32 No. No, I went to the supermarket earlier this year sydney it's december earlier this year i went to the supermarket so yeah there's everybody has their flaws everybody has their things where you're like yo what the fuck is wrong with you and that's that's my thing you know i could be a good friend i could i could be great on stage and then you know my whole life being shambled but i'm picking up each block and working on it and knowing that, hey, the payoff is going to be good.
Starting point is 00:49:08 Because if I really get in my bag, bitch, I'm getting you whatever you want. This is Aesop's hood shables right now. I'm picking up the blocks and I'm building up each piece. But when I get in my bag, come on.
Starting point is 00:49:24 Come on, the tortoise and the hare. Come on, the ant and the grasshopper. Sydney, get it together for winter time i got you yo sis i get in my bag whatever you want ma i'm taking you i'm taking you to trader joe's get the whole aisle wow the whole aisle all the produce i want yeah i'm like yo this girl been with me ride or die ride or die you want to ride or die you nah i'm not a die but i'll ride for a little bit no you do you're my uh queen and slim such a good movie truly one of the best movies of the year.
Starting point is 00:50:02 Yeah, but then I talked to Sam Jay and I was like, ah. Sam Jay hates it, but I like it. Yeah. She made valid points. Sure, sure, sure, sure. And the person who wrote it is a white man. Lena Waithe wrote it.
Starting point is 00:50:12 No, no, no, no, no, no. White man wrote it, brought it to her, and then, you know, she probably punched some things up. Well, that's not what she's going around saying on any of her things. She's saying she wrote it. Yeah, because.
Starting point is 00:50:24 It's story by her and then screenplay by her and the dude. No, no, no, no. Well, he's not getting a story by credit in the movie they probably worked that out in the contract he was like this is not gonna look good if i'm in there well what did sam jay say what were her points friend uh she said that you leave the movie exhausted drained what do you gain from it yes but what do you gain from most movies that are in theaters what you gaining from the minions what you gaining from titanic i mean for her it's
Starting point is 00:50:53 like, we have done so much movies about black trauma. Fiction is necessary right now. She's like, I went to the movie Little, being like, oh, this is going to suck. This is terrible. And then she walked out of it like, oh, no, no, no. We need stuff like this
Starting point is 00:51:09 for, I wish, when I was a kid, I had a movie like Little. Little was so good. Have you seen that? I did not see Little, no. You should see that. Everybody dies at the end. You're so dumb. so good so what
Starting point is 00:51:27 where our movie's gotta be either like our movie's gotta be little that's it we're not allowed to have any any other type of
Starting point is 00:51:33 we're not allowed to have a drama we're not allowed to have no I do think we're allowed to have a drama but I do think
Starting point is 00:51:38 that is a valid point that we don't have like some you know some real life Rick and Morty shit Rick and Morty what
Starting point is 00:51:48 you know Rick and Morty is an animation but something of that like how silly and arbitrary it is i mean girl's trip was that that was silly yeah that that movie came out this year last year yeah i saw something recently where it was like they were talking about having black protagonists in uh animated films like princess and the frog there's like a new
Starting point is 00:52:10 movie where will smith turns into a pigeon what wait what a pigeon and now there's like this pixar movie where it's like jamie foxx and then he dies and becomes a spirit and he's no longer are black and so they're talking about work jamie well i mean they're talking about like the they're the black characters only being black for like the first 20 minutes well the princess and the frog that's exactly what happened she was a frog for the entire movie right and she was like a slave in the beginning i don't know i was like okay american american girl doll okay addy she was like a slave i saw her mother was a maid her dad was a butler it was like very very very aggressive um but yeah they're not yeah they're not allowing like a black cartoon
Starting point is 00:52:55 character just to remain black throughout the entire like they're they are always like turning into something yeah we're not allowed black kids not allowed to see themselves reflected in pixar movies i guess just for me and just like um a film that's like for black audiences it's so layered and it's so exhausting that it can't just oh we can't just be we can't just have something why does it have to be like oh there's a struggle there's something blocking us
Starting point is 00:53:23 like why can't it just be fun and I feel like that's stay with me here for a second sis I feel like that's how movies work there's an issue there's a conflict it needs to be resolved at the end of the movie it either gets fixed or
Starting point is 00:53:39 whatever it like there's a resolution so I like this I liked Queen and Slim because I've first of all I thought it was beautifully shot it was beautifully shot
Starting point is 00:53:48 every single shot looked like a magazine spread it was like oh my is this Vogue like what is W Magazine everything just looked good
Starting point is 00:53:56 she had natural hair she's dark skin he you know he was in Get Out and he got out and now he not with that white lady no more he with Queen
Starting point is 00:54:04 so I just I felt like visually it looked good nobody was a slave in the movie which matters to me like I'm I don't I'm not watching movies where we're struggling in that way right this movie was like like it was an interesting story it was captivating if it had been two white characters
Starting point is 00:54:21 if it was Johnny Depp and Angelina Jolie people would it would be getting critical acclaim so I don't understand why like black like we're not allowed to just have like something that like yeah they they so the movie is about a couple that goes on a first date and then on the way home from the date a cop gets killed he gets stopped by the cops and he shoots a cop so they're on the run that's what the movie's about I don't know
Starting point is 00:54:48 I thought that the story was interesting I feel like yeah and right now cops is killing black folks and black folks are in all these terrible situations but like the movie was still beautiful it was beautiful I didn't leave like heavy like the ending was not what I expected
Starting point is 00:55:03 and it's a fictional it's a fictional movie and so that's why um sam jay was saying it's fictional so you can make it whatever you want it it doesn't have to be something that's that is real right like that ending that we've we've seen that before right but the other the other alternate endings that could have happened we don't really get to see well that's true but we also didn't write the movie sis but that's what she was saying was she's like if you're somebody like uh well you know i'll have sam talk about this i don't want to take somebody else's words but i'm it's just like i just want to watch a movie and get away for a little bit i'm really exhausted with just things
Starting point is 00:55:46 that are just too real but with life right now movie trailer and the synopsis of the movie was already available before we went to see them like sam knew what the movie was about yeah you knew what the right i'm assuming you knew what the movie was about so to be like well i just want to escape but the movie is about a cop getting killed by a black person so what did you you thought you was gonna be laughing like little you thought somebody was gonna do a striptease in the movie like i'm just and there were there were funny moments throughout the movie but like i don't know like if you wanted to laugh sis maybe you should have gone to see something else an adam sandler situation right and then okay but look at the the movie hustlers you know we went
Starting point is 00:56:25 to go see it it was trash whatever i know the actual story i know the people who were involved in real life. They were able to make hustlers quote, quote, funny because people were laughing. Yeah, but that movie wasn't a comedy, friend. It wasn't a comedy,
Starting point is 00:56:40 but they were able to make light in a lot of angles for stuff that I was like, eh, I was there. It was really not that funny. They was hustling. It was not funny. It was like,
Starting point is 00:56:52 oh, that guy could have really died. Right. Yeah, he has a lot of money and he's a finance dude and he's a dickhead, but he could... I was at a party one time, and it was a brunch party, and it was just like, ah, why are we, damn, we still drinking?
Starting point is 00:57:09 And these strippers came in. Wait, brunch strippers? No, it was a brunch party. Right. And then we had been there since, I don't know, like two. And it was like six. It was six, seven o'clock on a Sunday. Okay.
Starting point is 00:57:24 And we're like, yo, we're still going. and then these strippers one of the one of the the girl that was actually the movie was about brought in a dude the dude
Starting point is 00:57:35 could barely walk they was there was moments in the movie that was like yeah that's true they would be bringing strolling these people
Starting point is 00:57:42 like half like a lot cause they came up wait so the Jennifer Lopez character yeah bought in okay Cindy
Starting point is 00:57:47 you should have started the episode with this okay I know this is so good okay since we okay okay so they bring him in he's
Starting point is 00:57:53 what he look like what he wearing okay he like the guys that they had he looked like a like a finance like a goofy doofy guy an older dude glasses and everything he comes in he's caved out because I've been caved out before I know exactly what that is but he comes in they got his card they's getting bottles they it's just like who's walking around
Starting point is 00:58:14 with somebody who is not their friend like that looking like that and why would they take his card and why would somebody serve somebody who looked like that so what you're saying is you didn't have any you didn't purchase none of the bottles that they bought got him why would you do that I mean you buying it so the bottles have been purchased so I guess
Starting point is 00:58:37 I'll and the dude lord knows where they had they went on tour with this dude they took him to Saks they took him to Barney's it's like yo they were walking outside with this dude and then brought him into
Starting point is 00:58:53 another venue and he looked insane and they left him there in the corner and everybody's partying acting like well you know he knew what he was getting into and so but but the movie was able to make fun of that and in real life it was not like we were just like dude well we're just laughing at white rich because this is the difference we're laughing at rich white people getting taken advantage of right that's the difference so you know we no one feels bad for them a rich white dude bernie madoff nobody gives a damn about them but like yeah black folks bad things happen to them and i mean we feel bad i can't say that everybody else does but we feel bad but again there were funny moments in this movie right we laughed a decent amount like
Starting point is 00:59:40 a decent amount we did but it's just like when that fat boy went and got them burgers with his dad remember that part like that whole scene was funny you know yeah it's it's a i i'm still gonna say hey i did enjoy the movie but i did walk away like yeah it didn't make me feel good it didn't add anything for me it just made me say hey okay well they can definitely shoot a movie well looked great love the actors in it could it could i watch another movie with those same people in the movie and they turn the story around yes sure sure what's your favorite movie and like like get out was so wonderful because they got away they got away like that's a fictional movie right and they were the writers but get out was a comedy friend that's what that movie was marketed as
Starting point is 01:00:33 is a comedy no it was not it was marketed as a horror well it was in the for the oscar categories it was a it was a comedy it was a comedy so that's what i didn't want it because that's the way but jordan was like that's not what we're acknowledging it it was not a comedy it was a horror right but it was funny it wasn't saw right about the i'm thinking like the trailers the trailer was like really like it was a scary trailer you know that's how they marketed but the movie wasn't scary can we honest can we be honest about this the movie wasn't either I thought it was funny. The movie was funny.
Starting point is 01:01:08 The movie was funny. It was funnier than that. Lil Rel was funny. Everything that he was in was funny. The white girl eating dry cereal and looking up basketball players was funny. Lil Rel was the comic relief, but everything else was not funny after him. His parts were funny, but the movie altogether was not funny. Well, for the Oscar category, it was called a comedy, sis.
Starting point is 01:01:33 I mean, Queen of Slim is not a comedy. no one will call that a comedy that's not a comedy right but I'm saying that it's it's the movie was fictional and the writers were like oh this could end one way or this can end another way I mean I guess you gotta look at it sis Jordan Peele's like a like an improv sketch dude Lena Waithe is just like a you know she's me in 20 years she's the bald like black woman like she's that she's Lena Waithe is not funny she's not a comedian she's like she don't seem fun you wouldn't want to sit across from her at a dinner party you want to sit across from Jordan Peele maybe sis you want to keep this in the pot sure but what did I say something that was offensive
Starting point is 01:02:17 I'm saying that she's not trying to make it offensive but do you see what I'm saying like but if somebody told me hey yeah I wouldn't want to hang out with Sydney she that's not what I said i said i wouldn't want to sit she's not a comedian you're a comedian if i said if someone said i wouldn't want to sit across from sydney she's not funny she's not a comedian yeah you should be offended that's what your job is but lena is not that right she's like i tried to watch a clip like she did the shy like that nothing she's doing is funny like she had that whole series on showtime and it was about i don't know the crack epidemic in chicago i don't know what it was about it wasn't funny but like that's what her work is jordan peele has given us different stuff
Starting point is 01:03:00 the people who wrote girl's trip is giving us something different the people who wrote little it's that little girl wrote that of course the movie was like she write it or she just produced it she wrote it that's her story she wrote it she came up with the concept and she produced it that's her story but that that's what sam was saying is like those movies are those narratives are more needed right now especially since the world is so chaotic and we do feel
Starting point is 01:03:28 Hey Sam Sam we love you friend but like if you feel like the world needs something specific then you just gotta write that movie friend
Starting point is 01:03:35 She's on her way and you can do it She will We believe that you will She will and it'll be I'm sure it'll be freaking phenomenal
Starting point is 01:03:41 but you can't like let Lena make this movie like I feel like black folks should be allowed to make as many different types of movies as we can because we watch all these silly white people movies these beige home alone 17s these ocean
Starting point is 01:03:56 38s like we watch these white folks do literally whatever they want and they're not thinking oh this is a sad movie because everybody dies or this is like they just get to be artists and actors and writers and performers and they're not thinking about what we have to think about but like also let us like do as many different types of movies as possible because they're not all gonna be the same they don't all need to be happy endings they don't all need to be comedies like no just like i i i'm just happy that honestly sydney that nobody was a slave in the movie that's the only thing about queen of slim that i liked i was like whoo nobody's ashy and getting whipped like lupita won for 12 years a slave a movie that i have not seen and will not have not seen it and
Starting point is 01:04:42 will not i'm not i refuse a movie like i can't andrew have you seen it i did see it bitch get out you can no longer be our hot gay producer you've seen that but any other movie that we mentioned you have not seen it why did you see 12 years a slave because you wanted to be sad because i saw that she won the oscar for it i do love lupita i love her too but i'll catch her in us i'll get a tethered lupita i'm not i'll take any other lupita but that yeah i'll take lupita On a Plane with Liam Neeson, whatever. All those are the movies, but I'm not. I'll take her on a rom-com.
Starting point is 01:05:16 But then we have a rom-com that's coming out. Or not a rom-com. It's like a romantic movie. Yeah, with Issa Rae and Lakeith. Stanfield. Stanfield. From Get Out. Yeah, which he's great.
Starting point is 01:05:27 He's in a lot of movies coming up. Anyway. Well, that was great. I love. A debate? A dialogue? I don't know if it's a debate. It's just, you know, for me, I watch.
Starting point is 01:05:37 i think i watch too much comedy but i mainly watch stand-up so then when i watch movies i'm looking for the punch-ups and the things that make it more funny than like a normal movie and so i like being sad but i also like you know fiction is helpful it inspires me more well yeah we love we love fiction or whatever but like also like it's entertainment right the good fiction takes you out of your world and puts you
Starting point is 01:06:11 in like you feel what they feel you're nervous when they're nervous the music starts to get scary and you're like
Starting point is 01:06:16 somebody's gonna die like that's in my mind I feel like that's good fiction you're reading a book you can't put it down because you're like
Starting point is 01:06:23 well what happens on the next page like but and we love all that yeah but again everything's not for everybody what would you say
Starting point is 01:06:30 is your favorite movie my favorite like your like your three favorite movies my three favorite movies that I can't get enough of.
Starting point is 01:06:38 Yeah, like stuff that when it's on, you're like, I gotta watch it again. I gotta watch it again. I gotta watch it again. This is silly, but I'll never stop wanting to watch Set It Off, which is- Which is also, Sydney,
Starting point is 01:06:51 okay, if we're gonna take a step all the way back about Queen and Slim, Set It Off is essentially the same movie. I love it. But you see what I'm saying? Yeah. I absolutely know. I know exactly what you mean.
Starting point is 01:07:06 You should have asked Sam how she feel about Set It Off. Because that's a movie that we grew up on and we watched as kids. Right? Essentially. But that movie was sad. That movie. There was no comedy in that movie. Uh-uh.
Starting point is 01:07:20 But you love it. Love to see it. Yeah. Jada with the box braid bob. Love Hitch. Really? Yeah. I never got into Hitch.
Starting point is 01:07:28 Really? People love that movie and that's not. That's not. I loved Hitch because I think Will being the authoritative on, like, love and romance, that felt real. Like, his acting in it, it felt real. And then he had his, like, he's trying to help all these people that, like, have money to actually make a relationship work, but they just don't have the tools. And then him with Eva Mendez. I just loved everything.
Starting point is 01:07:57 Them being in the Hudson River and, like, her falling. I was like, this is cute. See I didn't really care for Hitch I enjoyed it I really enjoyed it And I will always enjoy a Will Smith movie Independence Day Enemy of the State
Starting point is 01:08:13 Is one of my favorite Will Smith movies I felt like that shit was real It probably is friend Are you still standing by Will Smith movies now? Why? Is he cancelled? I feel like all the movies he's putting out now are real Well now he's just doing it
Starting point is 01:08:29 Because he has time and money and he can say yes like when when Meryl Streep did that like Julia Julia Julia movie like Meryl I didn't see it I had no interest in saying that though but when she did it it was just like it was like you don't really need you know what I mean like we could have got somebody else to do that right you make enough money and you are allowed to just do whatever the hell you want after that it's like I'm just doing it I've proven myself as an actor Meryl was like this is a fun project this is like for me you know yeah but Meryl's doing a lot more I feel like silly or She'd been recently doing a lot more silly stuff.
Starting point is 01:09:02 Every once in a while. And oh, another movie that's my favorite that I will forever love, The Devil Wears Prada. Ah, love that movie. That's like top five movie. And New Jack City, that's another movie. That movie feels...
Starting point is 01:09:15 That was sad, but there was like, it was parts that was funny, but I love a Wesley Snipes one as the lead. I love him when he's like supposed to be hot. Didn't really care for him being hot and everything. You know, so Sandy, Sandy Marks, who was our cool mom expert, she like worked at, she worked at the agency or the management company that Wesley Snipes was signed to when he first started doing movies and stuff. And she said he was the hot client. Like he was sexy to everybody in the office.
Starting point is 01:09:47 And I was like, Wesley Snipes? Yeah, but then when he was in Waiting to Exhale, I could see everything that anybody would say that Wesley's hot. I don't remember him in Waiting to Exhale. Who was he dating? Was it Whitney Houston? no no no Angela Bassett have you watched
Starting point is 01:10:01 Waiting to Exhale no Lupita won an Oscar in it I love your callbacks don't watch it everybody dies at the end everybody dies okay
Starting point is 01:10:11 this was I love what are we critics movie critics now I mean you didn't ask me what my favorite movies were what are your favorite movies
Starting point is 01:10:21 it was just a set up she was like anyway bye no no no what are your favorite movies I love a sad movie or like a really stupid movie so I like
Starting point is 01:10:29 The Devil Wears Prada I like Lean On Me because I love an angry Morgan Freeman yes you smoke crack don't you it's on Netflix
Starting point is 01:10:36 right now it's or it was I love that I like I guess I wasn't really ready for this I like Enemy of the State
Starting point is 01:10:47 I like Blue Streak no way yeah with Martin Lawrence with Martin Lawrence it's one of my favorite movies that is a TBT friend I know but
Starting point is 01:10:54 I like that's one of those movies that when it comes on me and my sister know all the words. We're like really annoying. I don't want to leave it with Shamu over there.
Starting point is 01:11:02 Oh, Bad Boys 2. Bad Boys 2, also, great. Haven't seen that, Andrew? I don't think I'm going to watch this anymore. Andrew, we're going to have one night where it's just going to be like

Starting point is 01:11:20 We don't know yet. But also, let's wrap this up, friend. What are your three favorite movies that are off the top of your head right now? Also, I really like Titanic. Crazy. Oh, yeah.
Starting point is 01:11:29 So good. It's a classic. Love it. I could watch like Romy and Michelle like all day. No, that's not. I don't think I've ever seen. Is it more? Was it more than one movie?
Starting point is 01:11:41 No, just one. Oh, High School Reunion? Yes. That one. The one movie. Yeah. Romy and Michelle. I do like Juno.
Starting point is 01:11:49 Juno's good. But I also really liked. And this is going to sound like I'm pandering now. Something black and black. you gonna say girl strip no but I loved Us though that was such a thinker and it was so good
Starting point is 01:12:03 Us? I loved it I loved the theater after I was like what a waste so many hidden things that I just love that he threw in there I don't want to do homework after the movie's done this is not hide and go seek in a movie I don't want to have to find bigger things
Starting point is 01:12:19 okay you're a thinker well I hope you go to the library after this and rent out some movies rent out some movies is that what you is that what you were referring to when you said
