Oh my goodness. I'm feeling really smart today. This is Marie. And this is Sydney. I'm in such a good mood. Yeah, why? Did you have a good week? It was all right. Oh, okay.
Starting point is 00:00:35 Did you get some this morning? No, I'm just happy. Can't a sister be happy? Shit. Something happened, though. What made you happy? Anyways, this is the Unofficial Expert Podcast. I'm going to get to the bottom of this. Back to you, Marie. This joy. Sydney, what were you an expert at this week?
Starting point is 00:00:55 I was an expert at curving brothers left and right. Well, what happened? Who did you curve? Well, I was on the train, and this usually happens. I'm always looking at pictures, and I'm usually looking at pictures of what? Me and you, because we always look so good. All of the lights. And so I was looking at pictures that we took yesterday, and this guy in this sherbet-colored button-down was all in my phone.
Starting point is 00:01:22 and I'm listening to my music trying to just tune out him looking but then he taps me and he's like oh why'd you cut your hair it was so beautiful he was talking about your hair and I was like no that's my friend this is what my hair looks like right now and he's like
Starting point is 00:01:38 oh well you guys are beautiful and then he slid right off the train no no after that he continued to have you know a conversation where you from blah blah blah and I was like uh huh well actually what are you doing this
Starting point is 00:01:57 Saturday me and my friend have a comedy show you should come he's like cause he's from out of town he's from North Carolina and he's living here now and he doesn't have any friends and he's 23 and I was like perfect you have nothing to do you definitely should come literally nothing to do so
Starting point is 00:02:12 my foolish self gave him my contact information cause I was like anything for the anything for the show anything thing for the warm-up so he texts me right away and says oh did you make it home and i'm like yeah what time was it that he asked you if you this was mad early it was like 4 30 in the afternoon hey did you make it home all right i know it's getting dark yeah he's like this is keenan and i'm like oh god keenan i can't even talk to a keenan but whatever so he's so he's asking all
Starting point is 00:02:45 these questions and then he's like well i'm gonna be up front are you single and then i sent him the flyer as a response because I'm like I'm not going to ask that question because I want him to come to the show. So I send it to him and he's like oh this is nice okay cool I'll come I don't have any friends is it okay
Starting point is 00:03:04 if I come by myself and I'm like sure definitely come. And he's like I like how you just ignored my question though and I'm like what am I going to do I just want him to come to the show and find out I'm gay there I don't want to write via a text i'm gay i'm into women but he's like all in his feelings you know these dudes are very
Starting point is 00:03:26 sensitive he's all in his feelings like you know i could take it if you you know if you're not into me you could just tell me and i'm like okay this is the very first this is the inaugural text conversation and you already crying all over your keyboard you already pressed like apple juice breast apple juice all up on me and i'm like no no it's not that i'm gay and then he writes well that's all you had to say i feel like listen dude men men young old black white brown chinese listening to this right now if you ask a woman if she's single and she ignores your question that's a no for you specifically if she sends you a flyer of her comedy show that means just come to the show there are other women that you can talk to it's gonna be so many women there
Starting point is 00:04:14 that he's not even gonna think about me i mean he's gonna see my set and be like wow she's really a star but there's nobody more confident than like uh like late teens early 20s black dude even they could be the brokest person in the world but they just want you to know that they are confident in their skills as a broke dude. He was so confident that he came out in a Sherbert button-down
Starting point is 00:04:38 with what? Brown shoes? And navy pants? It all looked like, what is that? Sail rack, old navy. It sounds like a Burlington coat factory.
Starting point is 00:04:50 He was very intern. He gave me intern vibes. But you know what? He was really cute. He had all his teeth. I was fucking with it. But I definitely wasn't going to pass him on to you
Starting point is 00:04:59 because that's usually what I try to do. Well, I don't want him. And he's 23, and he ain't got no friends? You know I ain't got no friends. We're just going to sit and talk about sorbet shirts? Nah. So you just want to have somebody who has other friends so you can make friends as well?
Starting point is 00:05:14 No, I don't want to make more friends. I want you to leave me alone. If you ain't got no friends, you're going to be in my face all the time. That's it. And you know I don't want to see a dude every day. Just check in on Thursdays and maybe Sunday mornings before church. I don't need you in my face all of the time. Oh, my God, Marie.
Starting point is 00:05:36 I'm being honest. You're always honest. You never hold back. And you're an expert at telling it like it is. Speaking of not holding back, this week I was an expert at falling asleep on the train all messy. Like, I'm one of these people that, like, I was always afraid to fall asleep on the train because I don't like, first of all, I don't like people watching me when I sleep because I sleep super cute. But I also don't like, you know, like, just falling asleep and then not knowing where I'm at. But I've been really tired.
Starting point is 00:06:07 You're not afraid of getting robbed? I ain't got no money. I am afraid somebody might take my unlimited monthly MetroCard. That's the one thing. That's my most prized possession. I paid $116 for that card. And I just got it two days ago. So I woke up on the train yesterday.
Starting point is 00:06:25 Mouth was definitely open. head was definitely on the dude's shoulder right next to me i was like oh i'm sorry and you got mad hair i don't know how he allowed that like you leaning on my shoulder totally fine that hair on my shoulder no thank you i mean it was tucked in you know it was like it was tucked but still like i woke up and like i feel like this side of my head smells like his cologne still so anyway we're dating now uh that's my man do you usually fall asleep on people's shoulders no i'm a straight I'm a straight up and down sleeper. I'll fall asleep and then wake up and it'll be my stop.
Starting point is 00:06:59 How do you keep your head up with all that hair? I lean back. You got to tilt the whole situation back and use the wall as your shoulder to sleep on. Whenever I do that, I look like a dead body, so I can't. That's right, because the gravity is pulling your loose skin all the way down. Shut the F up, you shady. I hate you. See, gravity is a real thing.
Starting point is 00:07:24 so you're telling me that my face is falling off i mean you are a woman of a particular age i literally can't stand you and i just want you know what next time you fall asleep on somebody i hope they just cut your hair well you know what this hair is it will regenerate thicker and shinier so i'm really no no don't worry about it cut it cut it cut it cut it your hair is way too big you need to cut it that's what i want happen to you that's fine anyways so really smart i did i killed it this week uh in sleeping on the train and i you know now i put sunglasses on at night so people don't see that my eyes are closed but my mouth is starting to open so it's crazy but you're just gonna look like a blind woman just i'm gonna look
Starting point is 00:08:08 like georgia georgia what kind of sunglasses do you have on please whatever's in my purse sometimes i'll have like definitely make you look like you're blind sometimes i'll have on of the ones that don't even have any lenses in them. I can't with you. You're a hot Cheetos mess. Speaking of hot Cheetos, we have a hot Cheeto in the studio
Starting point is 00:08:32 right now. Oh my goodness, my favorite Cheeto in the whole wide world. Listen, I've known this woman for so long. I absolutely adore her. She is legendary. Legendary. We love that word. She is our go-go dancer expert
Starting point is 00:08:48 for the day. Give it up for leemarie perez hello how you doing lee i am great you are giving us fly girl realness right now yes is this a is this a vintage uh blazer you have on right now jennifer lopez is that a what is that is that a that's thrifted no this is a tank top oh that's a tank top yeah okay um but this little number i got it in um in astoria queens it's a it's a little show it's a little store called um love day 31 it's one of my favorite shops it's a thrift shop it's a it's a consignment shop yeah but marie's not coming to the queens yeah because i i love a consignment shop but i'm not into the uh the queens aspect of that yes she likes to stay in brooklyn and manhattan i wasn't
Starting point is 00:09:39 either until i ran into the shop do you live in queen isa lives across the street so that makes Is it worthwhile? Oh, yeah. Well, let's go visit Issa and go to this consignment shop. Issa's whose house I was at for her birthday? For Jennifer's birthday. Yeah, it was a cute little house. They had cheese and meat and they had food.
Starting point is 00:09:57 You know I love a charcuterie board. Okay, and then they have that little bar downstairs, too. That's right, but we're not paying for that. So, anyways, you are a legendary go-go dancer. You are a performer. You are everything. I feel like this outfit that you have on is putting on a show. Okay, let's start up.
Starting point is 00:10:12 She got the consignment blazer on. It's three big buttons. It's black and white. It's very Marge Simpson, Chanel suit episode. She's got a red lip. She has a red lip. The hair is curly, and it's giving me like a 3B vibe. I don't know what your curl pattern is.
Starting point is 00:10:27 No, she doesn't. Okay. And she has on like a shredded, distressed jean. Yes. You remember these, Sydney. Yeah. Are you ready? Are you ready?
Starting point is 00:10:34 Oh, I'm here for those. You used to wear those without tights underneath? No, we went to an event. We went to a party that she was dancing at. Oh, no, you weren't dancing that day. No, I was working for Pasha. She was working for Pasha. Okay, she wore those with no stockings on,
Starting point is 00:10:49 so the ass cheeks were all out. We took a ferry to Governor's Island. This bitch was already drunk. She had, you know the Chinese restaurant where they put iced tea, that big jug? I think so. The container? Yes, yes, yes, yes, yes.
Starting point is 00:11:04 That they put, like, soup in. Yes, yes, the big styrofoam thing. Yes, she had southern comfort in it. that's it soco soco at like 10 a.m was it was there anything in the soco no it might have been soco and and coca-cola no i think it was soco and iced tea yeah yo i haven't had southern comfort since 2009 so we pick her up she had on like a sheer top as well so no bra the nipples out the ass was out i was like lee you want to go back upstairs she's like girl i'm grown i'm girl I'm grown.
Starting point is 00:11:40 This is what I'm wearing. I was like, okay. So we get to Governor's Island. She's dancing and prancing with her ass cheeks out. She has a bruise on her ass at that. What? Somebody? She fell?
Starting point is 00:11:52 No. What happened? Somebody smacked you? I don't know. She was probably dancing. Well, you know, because working in the night scene, you're always bumping and falling and working. Bumping into that dick.
Starting point is 00:12:01 No. No. Definitely not. Don't want it back. Dressing up the performers. Yeah. She definitely just bumped into a whole building. Building costumes.
Starting point is 00:12:08 and, you know, you're bound to get tons of bruises. We were there for nine hours. This girl, this woman, ass cheeks just flapping everywhere. Was everybody else dressed like that? Well, there was go-go dancers in, like, outfits. Yeah. I mean, a lot of people. I mean, it's the middle of the summer.
Starting point is 00:12:25 It was one of those Governor Island. You didn't even have, like, a shirt tied around the waist? No, nothing. So you could sit there? No, and then Asceteria was right after. Yes, we went to Asceteria after that. Was Asceteria, because you know everybody listening don't know what that's right oh that's right so that's a cafeteria where you get ass so asseteria
Starting point is 00:12:42 was uh created by rob fernandez may he rest in peace genius uh and he he started that off it was a spinoff of an old club called danceteria okay so rob the genius that he was and also obsessed with ass was like i'm gonna start my own night called asseteria and we're like okay and then And he just, you know, he took it from there and he was having the event on 42nd Street. Yeah. I forgot the place called. That's the only location that I think was at. I was there.
Starting point is 00:13:17 Right in the middle of Times Square, literally like one block away. And lo and behold, Esoteria was born. And so anything that had to do with ass or costumes with ass. Yeah. I've seen a lot of ass there. Anthony Lamont wearing his ass out. Yes. Talking about ass
Starting point is 00:13:37 So all the dancers had big asses That were performing I was going to say so Sydney didn't work there I did Sydney was one of our ass guest hosts I danced twice I did have an ass at that time Didn't I Lee?
Starting point is 00:13:53 You still have an ass The lie detector test determined That was a lie You ain't got to lie Chris So you were out I've never been to Governor's Island It's beautiful When they have these big events
Starting point is 00:14:11 I mean it could get messy though Because there's a lot going on in those events It's bridge and tunnel, meat, drag Meat, tranny, meat Afrofunk, meat It's everything It sounds really hot It sounds super sweaty
Starting point is 00:14:26 So Lee Marie, we want to quiz you Not quiz you, but we want to pick your brain About go-go dancing How long have you been in the nightlife scene so let's see i want to say i started in 1997 isn't that when you were born marie that sounds just about right can you tell us what go-go dancing is because i feel like some people like everybody knows what a stripper is right so what is a go-go dancer so a go-go dancer is uh well we'd like to say they're a trained dancer but you don't have to be a trained
Starting point is 00:15:05 dancer because if sydney was sydney knows sydney didn't go to juilliard or misty copeland but are y'all shading me this early oh okay okay sydney might have taken it taken an alfielli dance course i went to prep school okay so it's a they're they're usually trained they're usually trained dancers or somewhat have some kind of background in dance and uh they're well fit uh they for the most part they know how to put their outfits together do their own makeup and um have some sort of uh character of their own uh that's me that's all i mean i mean i don't know about the putting outfits the other part but yes so you know a lot of the dancers may have some ballet background some of them may know how to vogue some of them have done gymnastics some you
Starting point is 00:15:58 did you know any do you have any of that background uh i did gymnastics when i was younger and voguing that just kind of that just kind of came in um in the course of time as a dancer you sort of build up different skills right the longer you're in in the career but because you can make a career you could definitely make a career out of it i paid my way through college what And you don't have to take all your clothes. I mean, you sound like you never had clothes on. Well, I never had to take my clothes off. But you guys were in like pasties.
Starting point is 00:16:30 I do accept tips. You guys were in pasties. Sometimes. It really depends on the demands of the event. So, you know, you're wearing anywhere from a full-on catsuit and a headdress to like something as small as a little tiny G-string and some pasties. As a matter of fact, when I first met Jennifer, it was Thanksgiving Eve. Jennifer is another legendary go-go dancer. Legendary.
Starting point is 00:16:53 It was Thanksgiving Eve. Don't ask me what year. Because I know Jennifer now for 12 years. Okay. So, I don't know. Do the math. Anyways, I met her at Tunnel. Oh, Marie wasn't born.
Starting point is 00:17:09 But I remember Tunnel. A little back history on Tunnel. Yeah. Tunnel. Okay. So, Tunnel, Limelight, and Palladium were all owned by Peter Gation, who was the biggest nightclub owner at the time and tana was more of a kind of drum and bass techno vibe that like that kind of environment but they would have a hood or a hip-hop party on a friday night i wouldn't know
Starting point is 00:17:35 not my cup of tea what you don't like the hood clubs you don't like hip-hop not at that time honey delivery i didn't know that about you i do like some hip-hop but i don't prefer working those events oh okay i would say yeah working working those events versus listening to the music at home yeah there's a difference there's a difference are you serious you've been to them hood nights yeah them hood club nights people are super aggressive the music is popping though the music is popping but she doesn't want to work i don't i don't work good nights no she what's up my mom you're gonna take your pants off for now What kind of stripping ass
Starting point is 00:18:14 How to the no She didn't even take Her stickers off her titties Exactly He's like I gave her a dollar She didn't shake nothing Exactly She shook my hand
Starting point is 00:18:26 So no tunnel Exactly right No Friday night tunnel No Friday night tunnel for me I would just prefer You know The sweaty messy Bridging tunnel
Starting point is 00:18:38 Leave me alone They're aggressive too though But they give you a space because they're in their own world, you know? A.K.A. they high. Yeah. They are high. But going back to meeting Jennifer and talking about costumes, the first night that I had met Jennifer, it was Thanksgiving Eve night,
Starting point is 00:18:59 and she was my partner, and I had never met her before, but I had heard a lot about her. and i was putting on my costume and she was like so what are you wearing and i was like i'm i got my my little outfit so i pulled them out and i show and she was like oh oh she shaved it was very much my little little tiny g-string with a flap of like leather shredded leather you know like i was giving a little pocahontas a la Uh, rated X. Rated X.
Starting point is 00:19:35 Oh, a la rated X. Uh-huh. S&M Pocahontas. Yeah, with some little feathered pasties that I made myself. No way. And then we had, like, you know, some tribal makeup and stuff. And I did this big mohawk with some feathers in them and stuff. It was cute.
Starting point is 00:19:48 It was cute. And she was like, oh. And I was like, it's okay, honey. I have one for you, too. She was like, oh. Wait, what was she wearing? Well, she was wearing, I paired her up because she was my partner. So she had to wear that outfit.
Starting point is 00:20:02 oh she came together but let me tell you something you know how snatched her body is her body is snatched that's our glass has nothing on jennifer's body it's ridiculous ridiculous back in the day and right now and right now yes oh man so her and i wear these like really sexy um indian kind of poca characters. Now you've traveled all over dancing. I have. I've been very, very privileged with my career as a dancer. So let's see. What's the most interesting place you've gone because of dancing? I would say Ibiza, working for Manumission. I worked with them for two years in a row. My first year with them, well, the way I got recruited to work with them, I was in the lesbian
Starting point is 00:20:53 scene doing cabaret burlesque type of shows for the ladies were you a lesbian no i was not no i did not believe me never never you never even kissed a girl no i might have kissed a girl but none of those girls okay since you always trying to convince somebody they got an inner lesbian you know every girl's kissed a girl i'm not gonna lie i've never kissed a girl Not my cup of tea, and they definitely still embraced me as a performer, and I got mad respect. I created a name for myself in the lesbian scene. Some of the parties that I worked for was called Love a Girl and Hershey Bar. It was owned by this promoter.
Starting point is 00:21:38 Her name was Caroline. Sweet Caroline. She was from London. So you went to Ibiza. So, while I was working for one of these burlesque lesbian parties, at the time I was working at Wonder Bar and was doing these little skits. And the talent agent that had hired me for that was like, listen, there is a couple in Ibiza and they have this party going on out there in Spain and they need dancers. They need to put together their group called the Pink Pussies. and i was like i was like maria somebody went up to you so there's a couple in another country
Starting point is 00:22:19 they got a party called pussy you down how about how much they pay okay and i was like oh that sounds fun you know and the the the way she reeled me in is because she also knew another dancer that i also know and trusted and her name was irene and she ended up irene does not sound like a dancer her name yeah she is legendary i'm gonna see her in a couple weeks actually we're gonna we're about to have a reunion oh nice yes irene we need to see pictures of this irene yes i'll show i brought some oh yeah you have a box of pictures of stuff irene sounds like the person who like calls the police because they're like there's a loud party going on across the street and i think i have to get up in the morning that was in her stage name so as a as a as a pink pussy
Starting point is 00:23:05 her stage main so you had i was damn pussy that was my stage damn damn pussy like damn like damn then you had sly pussy snake pussy snake what is a snake pussy well because um snake pussy and i won't mention her name because she's she's still working yeah so um but she it was the way she moved. Move your body like a snake, ma. Like that. She moved like a snake.
Starting point is 00:23:37 And then you had Shy Pussy because she was very shy but there was something very coy about her. Oh, that sounds like me. Shy Pussy. And then you had
Starting point is 00:23:44 Sly Pussy. You ain't shy, bitch. Shut up. I think Irene was Sly Pussy. Irene was Sly Pussy? She might have been Sly Pussy.
Starting point is 00:23:51 She was Sneaky Pussy? Don't quote me on that but when I see her, I'll let you know. Okay. Anytime I meet somebody named Irene, I'm going to be like,
Starting point is 00:23:56 oh my God, Sly Pussy? Okay. Excuse me? you a hot man okay and then we had little pink shirts that said pink pussies and this was before the pink pussy cats okay for the record okay okay you put you heard first on the unofficial expert um so the couple they the name of the company was manumission and they were known for doing these very exotic erotic parties and they were very creative and the entire well just yeah i mean
Starting point is 00:24:27 When I hear it, erotic. They have a way of doing performances. Let's just put it that way. Girl, you got some clips. I do have some. You got some clips. Roll that clip. I have a flyer.
Starting point is 00:24:39 So I have a flyer where Mike and Claire, that's their name. Oh, hey, Mike. Hey, Claire. Yeah, they're very creative. So what they do is they plan out an entire summer, and it's plotted against the theme. okay so our first uh themed summer was based on a motel that they bought in spain and the motel used to be a old brothel yes of course it did so they had this idea where um they created a murder and manumission okay so yes i'm sorry i'm going to a country that i don't know
Starting point is 00:25:15 where they speak a language I don't speak for a murder party? No, ma'am. Leroy, and your name was Pink Pussy? No, my name was
Starting point is 00:25:24 Damn Pussy, but we were under the Pink Pussy clan. Oh, my God. Y'all just trying to murder the Pink Pussies in Ibiza. This sounds like
Starting point is 00:25:31 an international law and order SVU. It really is. It really is. A la erotic. A la erotic. That's what the special victims.
Starting point is 00:25:38 Yeah. So, basically, each weekend, there was a murder that would happen, and what and it was all plotted in the uh manumission motel and it was sort of like okay this is interesting it's like clue with pussies yes exactly and so um the flyer was designed so they hired all these porn stars do you have a fire with you right now i have one of
Starting point is 00:26:03 the flyers but i don't have they hired a bunch of porn stars for the flyer they hired a bunch of porn stars that they did uh photo shoots with so the each porn star would have a different scenario you know like they killed but you weren't you weren't a porn i was not a porn star they hired the porn stars for the flyers so when you open up the flyer their legs open up and there's like a murder scene oh it's like a pop out yes it's for my next birthday i think i'm gonna do this yeah you want a murder pussy party or you want a pop-up flyer i want a pop-up flyer i think We should do both. And a pussy murder party.
Starting point is 00:26:44 Clue is pussy. Wait, so how is this set up? You were working this burlesque show, and somebody told you about the party, and then they fly you out there for the whole summer? How much money did you make? Exactly. We need the dollar coins. I was making about $1,000 a week.
Starting point is 00:27:00 That's cute. Back then, too? Back then, yeah. Wow. I didn't pay for room and board. So you don't have to pay for anything. Exactly. I didn't have to pay for my flights, and, you know, we were taken care of.
Starting point is 00:27:14 That's beautiful. So you saved your money, pretty much, being there. Somewhat. I had to pay rent. I had to send my rent back home. Oh, I would have gave up that apartment. Airbnb didn't exist then. Oh, you couldn't, like, have somebody stay there and pay the rent for you.
Starting point is 00:27:28 So, I mean, I saved some money, but because I was paying rent and bills still, it was a little far-fetched. So you went to Ibiza, you came back. This is some pictures here of Is this the Pop Out Pussies? This is 2008 You'll probably recognize some people on there Leigh Marie, look how skinny you were I was
Starting point is 00:27:47 But you had ass I was a fit model Your body was sick Let me see, let me see Oh my goodness So you come back from Ibiza And then you're like, bam, this is my life I want to do this
Starting point is 00:28:01 I mean, I had already started my career prior to it That's why I was sent out there. But it was very exciting, a great experience. At the time, being in Spain, not a lot of people knew who a Puerto Rican was. So that was kind of interesting. They kept confusing me to Cuban because the Cuban flag and the Puerto Rican flag. They look the same to me. Yeah, pretty much.
Starting point is 00:28:25 They're like, you Cubana? You Cubana? I was like, no, I'm Puerto Rican. And they're like, same thing. They're like, same thing, same thing, same thing, same thing. Samesies, samesies. Well, who came up with the flag first, Puerto Rico or Cuba? You know what?
Starting point is 00:28:39 I don't know. Because somebody copied somebody. She said, we could talk about go-go dancing. I don't know about no flags. I'm not an expert in when that flag was founded. So you came back from Ibiza. I met you in Pasha, which was like a legendary sound factory. I feel like we're rushing past Ibiza.
Starting point is 00:28:58 I want to know more about Ibiza. Well, here's a flyer of Mike and Claire. This was another event that they did. So, Clara got pregnant. Ooh, Clara. Was it Michael Sabian? So, it was pregnant murder pussy? No, and they created...
Starting point is 00:29:10 It was baby pussy. They created another event based on her pregnancy where she lays an egg once a week. Uh-oh. Wow. And the egg hatches the event. Is Michael a midget? No, that is the creative director of the company. Girl, this flag...
Starting point is 00:29:25 And that's Clara right there? This flyer is messy. That is Clara. Is that her? She's amazing, yeah. With her legs up and she pregnant? Yeah. And she pregnant?
Starting point is 00:29:32 and there's a golden egg coming out wow claire is and she got on like them sexy slippers i can't we might the furry slippers that marie got but in white yeah is he wearing a fila puma listen i feel like though that's a case with here's a write-up on us um as the pink this is everybody so so you literally just partied for the whole summer yeah uh and then the bag will kind of to show you a couple of shows it sounds like there were a bunch of drugs i see a lot of there's a lot going on in ibiza um did you get crazy you got there's a lot of nudist beach which i definitely took advantage of okay very beautiful the body was looking right and very free-spirited so you come back to to new york and you're like i gotta live in a regular
Starting point is 00:30:19 house and put my clothes back on how like how crazy is that well coming back to new york uh It was sort of a reality check because I'm like, am I going to be a dancer for the rest of my life? Like, you know, is there a plan B? You know, what if I break a leg? You know, you start thinking about those things. Yeah, because you ain't got no pink pussy insurance. Yeah. Because you got to insure that pussy and that ass.
Starting point is 00:30:42 Exactly. Okay. So I decided to go back to school and that's why I went into BMCC. And I finished BMCC. BMCC, what's that? BMCC is Borough of Manhattan Community College. Oh. I thought BMCC was Brooklyn Manhattan Community College.
Starting point is 00:31:01 No. No, boo-boo. BMCC? So you went there and... I had already done two years, but I needed to continue my education, so I got transferred. Okay, so you are a smart dancer. Well, what did you go to school for? I went to school for dance and theater.
Starting point is 00:31:18 Okay, so you went to school for what you were doing already. Look at you. Listen, LeMarie, that's awesome. proof that you can go for school for the arts and still make a career and pay your way through college. They should put you on one of those
Starting point is 00:31:34 Boricua College brochures. On the bus. You know the Hispanic scholarship fund? I got a scholarship. What? Coca-Cola gave me a scholarship. I didn't know that at all about you. What? Michelob gave me a scholarship. I'm sorry. Is there a Haitian-American
Starting point is 00:31:49 she got all her edges scholarship? Because I feel like I will apply tonight. yeah is there just a scholarship where you could just be yourself and like be the person that you are and like get something for that i don't know if you're making a certain amount of money below a certain answer wait i gotta be broke and myself no well sitting yourself is pretty gross and insane anyways so lee marie i met you in pasha yes which used to be sound factory yes which used to be crowbar okay so these are all different clubs that are different owners i don't know what um what sound factory was before sound factory became sound
Starting point is 00:32:36 factory i don't think it was a club before then these were these were clubs that's kind of like considered studio 54 ish ish yes okay yes uh i would have to say that sound factory was stemmed from uh sound factory bar which at the time it was located downtown don't quote me on the nobody know about the location that's okay boo don't go down the street but it was a really happening night uh and it was all like deep house okay can you please explain deep house because deep house for me is baby powder on the floor and me rolling on it you're you're you're along the always yes that's deep that's not like a waste of baby powder no no no the johnson and johnson yes it's heavy it's okay it's very heavy and dancing um girl it's a shame for the bars because
Starting point is 00:33:32 they don't really drink no you just roll around because they're on all that molly all that ecstasy they take and they got to keep their throats moisturized well let me tell you i was drinking I wasn't doing Mali when I was on the Deep House scene. Well, actually, I'm lying. So anyway, you would let the Mali disintegrate into the drink, and then you would drink the Mali. So I'm lying. Anyways.
Starting point is 00:33:56 Shaped by water. I met you in Pasha, and you were creative director there? I was creative director there. So before Pasha, though, it was Sound Factory, and I had a very good run with Sound Factory. You did. I saw all those videos. Yes.
Starting point is 00:34:12 Do you have an old flyer to show Marie? I do. Sound Factory used to have shows, shows on shows. They have like an Alice in Wonderland theme. They had so many themes. And you guys had to make your own costumes for all of these themes? Well, Sound Factory had a creative director. His name was Rafi Mercado.
Starting point is 00:34:31 He is the founder and creator of Casa Mercado Entertainment, which is still a running entertainment group. Is that you? This is me for one of the events Bitch you better get out of here This is little Miss Muffet Oh my god Let me see
Starting point is 00:34:48 Look at the penis mushrooms Stop it I'm sorry penis mushrooms? You better And them eyebrows Oh my god I want somebody to fill them in Oh those are legit penis mushrooms
Starting point is 00:34:58 Sound Factory Was a very special place It was 618 West 46th Street In case you guys were wondering Where Sound Factory was And the number at the time was 2 and 2, 4, 8, 9, 10.
Starting point is 00:35:11 If you want to call and see, nobody pick up. Soundfactory.com. We'll be picking up. Soundfactory.com. Soundfactory was founded by Richard Grant. How do you remember all these people's names? Yeah. Well, because they're all legendary, you know,
Starting point is 00:35:26 people that played a very important role in my life. You see that, Marie? I need to remember names that play. The people who play an important role in my life, I don't remember them. And that's why you are who you are. Thank you. Thank you.
Starting point is 00:35:38 Well, you know, coming here and having to go through all my scrapbooks and all this memorabilia and, you know, it made me think about what what legacy means. And I come up with, you know, your legacy is not only determined by how many people support you, but by how much of a difference you make in people's lives. Oh, do you hear the bars that she's spitting here? Wow. So everyone here, Richard Grant, Rafi Mercado, Mike and Claire, Irene, Jennifer. Irene. These are all important figures in my life that we have shared and mined many gems and made differences. All through go-go dancing.
Starting point is 00:36:24 All through go-go dancing, performing, costume design. Yeah, also you guys have gone through a lot. You've taken a bunch of drugs together. They've all seen your pussy. craziest craziest night like the night that all you people can remember that are like yo yo i can't believe we didn't die yeah what night is that but there's so many of well i remember the story that you guys always would talk about how you would be at assyteria and this drag queen or transvestite or whatever came for you or oria i don't know there's a lot of stories like that
Starting point is 00:36:57 because you know where they're battling transvestites yes those trannies were always coming for us because they thought we were tranny okay well tranny is not a pc word just putting that out there on the podcast okay we don't um yeah i have to correct because there will be somebody that'll write hey hey hey so isn't that what we used to call them it was but now you know we have to be we have to be and i feel like when people say it is not because like they're trying to be disrespectful like you don't have any problem with people who are trans you're just that that's what she like that's what we used to call i'm sure there's somebody who's like i didn't think nigga was a bad word well that person that person don't get pushed i don't want to be
Starting point is 00:37:39 slapped by a trans yes when i get out of here okay when they see me in the club yes i heard you on the unofficial expert corner scratch scratch the razor comes out uh-huh homegirl's eyes i don't I don't want you to get a buck 50 on that beautiful face. No, ma'am. No, ma'am. But no, there's just any story that you think that would be popping on the unofficial expert that we could all be kinky and laugh. Well, you would appreciate this.
Starting point is 00:38:08 So Jennifer and I was working at this club called Systems. And it was just kind of a regular freelance go-go night. So freelance means you're on a box, the DJ's playing the music, and you're just being creative and, you know, dancing towards whatever the music is playing. And doing whatever you want. Yeah, freestyle. And you are a queen of freestyle. I am.
Starting point is 00:38:31 I am. You know, it takes practice. You're going to show us a little bit of moves later. I will. We're going to videotape that. It doesn't happen overnight. No, it does not. I want to know some, like, signature moves that you just throw together.
Starting point is 00:38:44 Most definitely. Most definitely. So you're at this night with Jen. So I was at this night with Jen Systems. and we're walking through the crowd and at the time you know sometimes you'll have a security guard and sometimes you don't so you kind of have to be your own security guard right so long story short a guy pinched my butt yeah he pinched my butt he just pinched it no he full-on pinched my butt with three fingers the thumb and the index and middle finger okay to be exact i don't remember
Starting point is 00:39:19 the fingers and everything i just pinched my own butt with yeah well he pinched my butt so of course i was mad and i turned around and i was like did you just pinch my butt and then he was like yes and then i was like boom and i punched him in the face did you give him the bus driver you're gonna learn today I gave him the only bus driver. But it gets better. He didn't, like, he just went like this. Oh, he just turned his head this way?
Starting point is 00:39:54 And then Jen was like, what just happened? And then when he went like this, I went like this. Boom, boom, boom. You hit him some more? You hit him three more times? I hit him three more times. What were you going through? I was mad.
Starting point is 00:40:05 He pinched my butt. And then, and my face disrespected me, and I wasn't having that. Nope. And, you know, I was a fitness model back then, so I was holding a lot of aggression. were you on steroids or something i was not on steroids but i just got off my set blood was rushing somebody just disrespected me and i just had to let him have it i'm glad then he fell on the floor and his out of nowhere his girlfriend was like oh my god what happened his girlfriend was there all of a sudden all of a sudden when his three fingers touched your butt okay and then
Starting point is 00:40:37 the security guard comes out jennifer's like oh my god what's going on i can't believe you just hit this guy and i was like he disrespected me that's not right like nobody's gonna touch my butt no man no and then the then the security guard picked him up from the floor and ping-ponged him out the door nice and i was like bye felicia while go-go dancing do you deal with that a lot of disrespect because you guys are not wearing that much and you know some people don't take your profession serious seriously and you guys are very serious about you when you get up there You're dancing. We're experts.
Starting point is 00:41:11 Yeah. You're doing what you need to do. Yeah. We are. We're doing what we need to do. And, you know, depending on where you're working with or who you're working with in terms of the club or the venue and the manager, you know, you really don't know what kind of environment you're going to be around until you're actually in it. Unless you're at Tunnel on a Friday. Unless you're at Tunnel.
Starting point is 00:41:34 And you're also going to be able to do this night. You're not going to play no DMX? where my dog's at but for the most part that probably has to be no there's there is another second story but that one had nothing to do with me but i will tell that story because it is pretty juicy um but there's only been two incidences where i felt like i was being disrespected other than that for the most part um over time we've had built up our career you know so high that people know kind of recognize we were getting our security guard you know and and we would be escorted back and forth from the you know from the green room to
Starting point is 00:42:13 to the stage that's beautiful yeah and you should be respected even if you're wearing pasties or a thong whatever like nobody should touch you and you dancing your ass off up there listen i put these i've created these custom-made pasties as feathers dangling from my damn pussy and i'm allowed to do whatever i want to do up here i mean i think that's the thing that men think and some women think because you're dressed a certain way that you're allowed to be treated a certain way i'm sure women were treating you were you did you ever get into it with any females like i did i had um one one girl i was doing i was doing a move on the floor and she tried to bite me what yeah what you what kind of ecstasy was she on the lesbian scene is a little crazy
Starting point is 00:43:00 and i'm like calm down girl wait she tried to bite you in a sexual way no she was literally like like like snapping on me and i was like i looked at the security guard and i was like is she for real those are already sours they be having you chop chop chop chop chop chop chop do you know coco coco feliciano no but i like that name she's she's my butch queen so good old coco came in for the rescue honey and she let her have it what did she do she was like don't be touching my girl like that you know she slapped her around and stuff and the people went away i was like why is she acting why is she trying to i'm trying to feel like i'm fighting somebody tried to bite me once too i don't remember who that is whatever drug that is that'd be like oh you want to bite somebody
Starting point is 00:43:49 Don't ever do that again. That's not the drug for you. No. I don't want your teeth anywhere near me. Okay. But it's true. You know, we've had some situations where, you know, they were kind of unsafe. But for the most part, our career, you know, we had our security guards.
Starting point is 00:44:06 We had our flights paid. We had room and board. Listen, that sounds like the dream life. Rock Fernandez always took care of us. I went to Miami with, well, I didn't go to Miami with you guys, but I was there. But you were there. For Winter Music Conference, which is like a big festival where all the DJs are there. They have like nonstop house music for days on end, drugs on end.
Starting point is 00:44:27 It's messy boots. I was there. Leigh Marie was taking care of all the go-go dancers. I was in charge. And I wasn't friends with her like that yet. So we all get in the van. Because I literally didn't have to pay for anything when I was with them. Even though, you know, I pulled out my money all the time.
Starting point is 00:44:44 That's because you done. Because I'm foolish. but i was in the van with them and they were going to the club and i didn't even know you didn't know me and she put and she was not having it she had that face on like first of all why you in the van if you in the van um can you tell us the directions to get to the club and i was like oh i had that like stupid metro pcs nokia phone the green screen that had like no uh wi-fi no nothing i couldn't pull up and she's like girl what's going on back there you can't get it for me and i was like i'll just get out here did you get out no
Starting point is 00:45:17 and then we got to the club and she was so nice to me she was like girl you're cool it's fine this thing it's like if i don't know you and i'm like in my work mode and i have to manage manage all these knuckleheads and their nonsense i'm like i don't have no time for jokes yeah she was very serious and i was like i like her i like her she gave me a hard time but i like her her ponytail her ponytail was snatched i love it i am i am i had good times with lee marie she's so much fun oh my god so funny so what's next then like you were managing them down there yeah um you're like putting like tours and shows together i know it seems like we're all over the place with with my career but i went from let's just say i went from being a
Starting point is 00:46:05 dancer then to running the dancers then to making the costumes building costumes and then also collaborating with putting together the shows um you've done big things uh sir sir i worked with cirque du soleil i was the assistant um to the creative director for their special events we did three shows oh wow wait you got cirque du soleil tickets she did at the time i did you don't have I did it at the time. I want to take my mom to a Cirque du Soleil show. She did. She was, you, I could have got the hookup, but I didn't go.
Starting point is 00:46:38 But yeah. You are so sucky with these hookups, man. What are you talking about? Oh, man. What do you mean? Anyway. So you worked with Cirque du Soleil. I also worked with Cirque du Soleil.
Starting point is 00:46:51 Working with Rafi Mercado, you know, not only I was a performer, but I was really involved in instrumental and helping him and collaborating with a lot of the shows, choreography, creative direction, assisting him. One of our biggest shows was in Vegas. We did Wicked.
Starting point is 00:47:09 Oh yeah, wait, was that with what DJ? That was with Jonathan Peters. Another big DJ at the time. Our listeners might not know who Jonathan Peters is, but he's like I don't know, the Avicii of your time, maybe? Yeah, you can say that he's the Avicii of our time.
Starting point is 00:47:25 And Peters doesn't sound like a very good DJ name. It is not. At the time, he was, though. He was... DJ Jonathan Peters. He made a name for himself. He did make a name for himself. He sounded like a dude who will lie on his taxes, and then you got to pay what you owe.
Starting point is 00:47:40 His biggest parties were S&M and underwear. The underwear party. Which I have a flyer for. She has a flyer for. I feel like I want to go to an S&M party. Is John Peters still around? No. No, I mean, you know he is, but I'm not sure where he's spinning anymore.
Starting point is 00:47:56 Now, this is a picture of Leigh Marie and her booty. The ass is looking cute. It was really good. I worked really hard on it. And that's Tiffany. Tiffany looks like Katy Perry. But she doesn't look like Katy Perry, but in this photo she does. In this photo she does, yeah.
Starting point is 00:48:12 Yeah, this is great. Yeah, that's a good picture. And we have another flyer together. We do have another flyer. This was an event that I created with Chris Vargas. Let me tell you guys what the poster looked like. Okay. I feel like there are, like, balloon penises all over the place.
Starting point is 00:48:26 No. No, there's no balloon penises. What's that blue thing? That's a voodoo doll. You guys are crazy. It's voodoo. There's skulls. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:48:35 Sydney is butt naked with feathers. Butt naked. Jail. I'm legit butt naked in this. The face paint. You know, Sydney, you're the only one that's naked in this picture. Ridiculous. They got the black girl out looking nuts.
Starting point is 00:48:48 The black girl looks like you sat last. So you saw that they had clothes on and you sat your naked black ass down. But feathers are covering her. That's when I had no titties. She was part of the little titty committee. That's okay, Sydney. I'm still part of the little titty committee. No, but you had clothes on and I'm up there bare naked.
Starting point is 00:49:06 Sydney, you sat down last naked. How many drinks did I have before we did that photo shoot? Because I'm trying to figure out how I got my... You didn't have any drinks. You were sober as the night is long. Who did the face paint? We all kind of did our own face makeup, although I helped Sydney out with her face makeup. I was going to say, Sydney did not do that.
Starting point is 00:49:24 I don't believe. Excuse me? Sydney, you did them little dots on your eyebrow like that? No. No, I did the dots for you. That's what I'm talking about. Yeah. So this event was created with Chris Vargas, who at the time was an up-and-coming DJ, big
Starting point is 00:49:38 Colombian market, and he was very into tribal music, deep house, just kind of... that kind of genre and okay you can put the flyer down because i'm tired of looking at her he really wanted to work with me and him and i and his manager at the time dina we came up with this party called voodoo why why voodoo well because it was you know the way he saw voodoo is dark mysterious and dangerous you know it really kind of accented the type of music that he plays. Right. So Voodoo ended up being a really big hit.
Starting point is 00:50:20 I designed the flyer. You know, we came up with this concept. There was a sacrifice. There was a sacrifice. I was a part of the sacrifice. Sidney, what? Unbelievable. You know, as a Haitian, I am not comfortable with this conversation about Voodoo
Starting point is 00:50:35 and sacrificing. What did y'all sacrifice? A sheep? A chicken? No, me. No, we sacrificed Sidney. Sidney, you were a sacrifice. I was on a cross. She was on a crumb. Oh, my God. I can't. We can't be friends no more.
Starting point is 00:50:46 It was like a fire show. It was a different time in my life. Cindy did some big numbers then. I did. I was out there. Got some notches on her performance belt. Out there winning and losing at the same time. Oh, my God.
Starting point is 00:51:03 Wait. So we're running out of time. We have to give you a quiz, Leigh. Yes. Are you ready? You want to test your ex? Okay. So, Leigh Marie, we're going to give you a quiz.
Starting point is 00:51:11 Super excited. We just want to re-show this flyer, because this is me butt-ass naked. Butt naked. That is Exhibit A, which is A cup, which was no cup. And they had me butt-ass naked with feathers and oil and everything. Oh, my God. But you know what, Sydney? You were the Naomi Campbell of our group, I have to say.
Starting point is 00:51:32 Did you hear that? Meaning she was the only black one. No. Because Naomi Campbell is always the Naomi Campbell of her group. No, we had black friends. but Sydney I have to say was our little Naomi Campbell of the group she always looked fierce
Starting point is 00:51:47 her body was always snatched I looked at some of those photos and I was like girl one or two times I didn't blend in that concealer at all and that wig is shifted
Starting point is 00:52:01 everybody has pictures in the TBT that has a crooked wig at least once we've crooked once And that was for Memorial Weekend, that one time. You did, and you let me know right away. Yeah, and I was like, Sydney. She's like, Sydney, I don't know what's happening with your edges,
Starting point is 00:52:18 but you have got to pull that out. Well, I didn't even know what edges were. But you were definitely like, you were like. Okay, back to this test. Okay, so first question, Leigh Marie. Yes. What legendary DJ said, if you got $100, put your hands up? That sounds like a hip-hop DJ.
Starting point is 00:52:46 Yes. And I want to say, oh, I could hear his voice in my head. It starts with an F. Funkmaster Flex? Boom. Yes, it is. It wasn't Fat Man Scoop? Ooh.
Starting point is 00:53:01 I feel like it was Fat Man Scoop. See, you guys aren't even expert in your questions. Well, Sydney wrote that question, but I thought it was Fat Man Scoop. I think it's Funtmaster Flex though I think it's Funtmaster Flex yeah
Starting point is 00:53:15 oh okay we don't give you half a point well you know what maybe Funtmaster Flex was at a night where he just said the same thing
Starting point is 00:53:20 he said the same thing it could happen he may have said one time I was dancing at Mint and he was DJ and I know I heard him say that
Starting point is 00:53:28 uh Flex it was Fatman Scoop Fatman Scoop I was right and I didn't even come up with the question see that's why
Starting point is 00:53:36 I don't show up for hood night well that's why she didn't know and how dare you give me a hood question i know cindy give me this phone she you know what it is cindy's a she messy i'm terrible though that's why cindy is definitely not hood whatever okay you kind of touched up on this but here's a question for you um if a guy grabs your butt while you're dancing what do you do i knock him down no what is the protocol though what is the protocol. Well, I mean, you don't have time,
Starting point is 00:54:06 girl, so there is no protocol. It's you and him. Because by the time you get a security guard, it's a wrap. He's already touched your ass. Yeah, he's already touched my butt. He's telling his friends the story about how he touched your butt. And then he took it on, put it on his iPhone and Instagrammed about it.
Starting point is 00:54:22 Exactly. He tweeted, I touched this girl's ass and she can't do nothing about it. Now he'd be on the floor like the last one. She said, knock him out. We're going to give you 12 points for that because you definitely knock them out yes you do knock them out knock them down they don't deserve it um okay since you're a go-go dancer and you know about the costumes yeah what is the best underwear that accentuates the booty i would have to say a nude g-string a nude g-string yeah now where where does a black
Starting point is 00:54:51 pick up a nude they have them in your color do that yeah cindy knows cindy used to come out with those little chocolate brown thong strings. Yeah, you did. Don't try it. Where you get those from? I'm asking for a friend. When you say accentuate
Starting point is 00:55:04 your booty, because when I think of the new G-string, because those are the ones that we wear underneath our costumes so that we don't get a panty line. Right.
Starting point is 00:55:11 Is that what you're talking about? No, I'm just saying if you're wearing jeans or a dress, what makes your butt look good? Oh, no.
Starting point is 00:55:17 You either have a good butt or you don't. Oh, my God. Sydney, she's talking right at you. Ain't no underwear. Okay, you didn't fail the quiz all the way.
Starting point is 00:55:27 No, what's the thing that the gay guys wear that lifts? Oh, the booty pads. No, no, no, no. It's not a pad. It's like they wear it and it's like there's like a strap underneath the cheek. Oh, that has like the elastic underneath. Yeah, yeah, yeah. It has extra material.
Starting point is 00:55:44 I don't know the name of that. But it's somewhat borderline spank and a butt harness. Yeah, it's like a butt harness. Yeah, it's like a butt harness. Okay, well, we're going to Google butt harness. Okay, so you got that. Okay, you got that. So that's all our questions for you.
Starting point is 00:55:58 You passed. You gave us so much. You have so much stuff with you. You have like old flyers of yourself. This is for you, Sydney. I'm going to autograph it. Oh, my God. This is 1999 in Webster Hall.
Starting point is 00:56:11 By the way, Webster Hall was the first club that I ever danced at. So wait, let's clap for you because you are the unofficial expert. Oh, wait, wait. I have one more question before we clap. Okay, fine. now as a go-go dancer what would you say is the best song to start the night with to get the party started oh my god that is a good i know that's a good one i just thought of it because i'm an expert hmm i'm gonna need a minute for that go to like like you hear it you're
Starting point is 00:56:41 like this gonna be good night it's gonna the dj knows what he's doing yes yes yes yes yes oh you don't like hip-hop so it ain't gonna be it's gonna it's not gonna be anything fat man scoop did i know well what year are we talking about uh i feel like we're talking about now you could just now yeah okay because i have the song in my phone that i live for i just rode my bike to it okay oh yeah let's play it up we want to hear it cue it up cue it up okay so this song is called just by bicep i'm here for this yeah i like it okay it's cute it's cool it's cool delicia's husband um delicia's husband did that he made that delicia glam's husband played it uh in burning man you
Starting point is 00:57:32 went to burning man livery how much money do you have because burning man is not cheap yeah it's just you don't go there on a budget you have to you have to i budgeted how much did you spend at burning man i spent about three thousand for the entire trip three that does that include flight that includes the flight oh i feel like i feel like that's low from what i've heard other i got a really good deal yes you did because you know because you know aria took care of me and she she found me a really good ticket the ticket alone was 900 because we heard we were overhearing some of my friends say that it was like it was like 10 12 thousand dollars yes right because it depends on the camp that you are camping with and some of these camps charge you
