Starting point is 00:00:00 Hello, hello, good morning, good evening, good afternoon. Hi, y'all. Happy new moon. Wow, you're doing a lot, Marie. Red moon. Why are you being so professional right now? I'm doing a lot because you're being unprofessional, you're on your phone. So that's why I was doing that.
Starting point is 00:00:19 So that you would stop Facebooking and look up and be like, we're in the studio. Look at us. Look at that. Molly Austin is FaceTiming us right now. Okay, we don't have time. Sydney, honestly, put your phone on Do Not Disturb and set it over there. Like, you know you can't be trusted with a cell phone
Starting point is 00:00:36 because you can't do two things at the same time. Oh, look at that. Call me out. Tell them why you mad, son. Tell them why you're mad. How you doing, Marie? I'm okay. You know, have you tried this happy light?
Starting point is 00:00:49 I have. Is it working for you? I see the potential, so I'm going to stay with it. Well, let's tell people what we're talking about. Okay. so there are these lights uh called happy lights or vitamin d lamps that are supposed to help people who are depressed um and help people who uh are not motivated are not are yeah right it's supposed to like help you you know like get up and go do some stuff yeah um so i got one uh shout out to
Starting point is 00:01:17 patreon i got one and then i got one for sydney so technically y'all got them for us um and uh I don't know I be plugging mine in but I feel like it's not really it wakes me up for sure cause I feel like
Starting point is 00:01:30 groggy and like my eyes will be heavy and then you'll sit in front of the light and then I'll sit and then you know it'll give me
Starting point is 00:01:36 that little pop that like ooh I think I can do my makeup now type in front of the light yeah
Starting point is 00:01:41 I do my makeup in front of the happy light I just want my cat eye just like a happier you know yeah you want it to swoop up and not over
Starting point is 00:01:51 yeah I want it to be like just do it you know I like that a Nike swoosh swoosh. I'm here for it. Yeah, so it's it's going I'm I'm using it every day and just hoping that you know, by December, I'll feel better. You know, I mean, it's a it's an alternative medicine. You know, it is it is because you know, I can't afford the real meds at the moment. I can't afford therapy, unless you're going to the Patreon and you know, give us a little bit more to find out. Maybe I can get a new therapist. It's up to y'all. Do you want Sydney happy? Do you want me to unpack some things?
Starting point is 00:02:28 Go to the Patreon. Donate some more. We got videos on there now. We're doing videos on Patreon. It's very embarrassing for Sydney. It's so bad. But I love it. Paul love it.
Starting point is 00:02:41 Marie, what were you an expert in this week? So, you know, I am officially an influencer now. uh you know people people are reaching out they're like we want you to come to our event because you're an influencer and i'm like are you gonna send me some stuff and they're like yes we are and so uh this brand sent me some stuff well they said we got to pick two things right and i was like oh i'm gonna get something that i would never buy for myself and i ordered a full a faux fur like pink like mink jacket and um and some boots and sydney ordered one of them like fashion over bras that like every messy housewife of atlanta has had you know what fashion over bra
Starting point is 00:03:27 the amber rose one where it just like sits on your boobs and you pull the shoelace and it like oh i don't know what i was going through and then i got some dress that was like sequin that was like oh you're going to atlantic city this weekend or oh is it new year's it was just a lot and it was like why would you do that when there's so many other items on literally 15 000 things you could have chosen from and you picked a bra and a dress i was overwhelmed and i'm not i actually i'm not that great with fashion i i pick things that are like basic but look uh more expensive on me because i have the body but no one's gonna see the process i wanted to just the bra is just basic. I just wanted to create content
Starting point is 00:04:07 and use one of those things and have like a video. I mean you've had the bra for like a cool week sis and you have not posted a picture of your a video of your tittay. My soul won't let me. No boomerang of your boobs on the gram. I should do it right. You should absolutely boomerang your boobs. I should do it and then like a Snickers come out. I'm like actually it's
Starting point is 00:04:23 great to hold treats. Snickers. Okay you know what this is why. Anyway so then after that I went to this event I got my free stuff and then I everyone was like oh Sydney was like oh I sent them a thank you and I was like oh I wasn't even gonna thank them for inviting me mind you ate
Starting point is 00:04:39 all the food like they had impossible burgers there I tore those up they had Korean fried chicken like all the food that I like they had yeah and then I was like oh I'm gonna send them a thank you also but then ask them to dress us for our show for the New York Comedy Festival she's so smart
Starting point is 00:04:55 I invited them to the show and everything but I didn't even think about like hey if you wanna dress us for some more stuff you can you know send it our way and it's just there's no shame in my body I was like hey come to the show it'd be amazing if you can dress us for the our thing and they were like
Starting point is 00:05:11 of course just send us more links and tell us what you want and we'll send them to you and Marie is doing the lord's work and she ordered a velvet tuxedo I ordered a velvet tuxedo a green velvet tuxedo that's what my aesthetic is going to be until I die
Starting point is 00:05:26 bury me in that tuxedo beautiful my bridesmaids are going to have on green tuxedos and i got a i got a better atlantic city dress oh my god it has sleeves so proud of you so i can actually do something with it you know what you call that friend a breakthrough oh look at that i'm so proud of myself uh what were you an expert in this week um being fake as fuck you know you gotta be fake sometimes you'll be running into people you just don't like and you're like you know what it takes me more energy to like shade you than to just be like hey how you doing
Starting point is 00:06:02 But you know what takes no energy? Ignoring them. Legit, you just be like, put your headphones in, you're like, do-do-do-do-do. You ignore them. Yeah, but I feel like in comedy, there's situations where you just, you can't.
Starting point is 00:06:14 You gotta, you could be hosting a show and you gotta bring them up. It's just like, it's just, you gotta be fake sometimes. Okay. That's just how it is. Like, you don't always have to be as honest as you want to, especially in a workplace. You just can't.
Starting point is 00:06:30 Like, if we on the street, bitch, I didn't see you. We on the same car. I'm putting my head down and acting like I don't see nobody. I'm putting my shades on extra tint. But if you're in a comedy show, it's just, and you see somebody that you don't like, it's like, I could just fucking pay you dirt or be like, hey, what's up? You know, it's, I wonder who you're talking about. See, I'm so fake that you don't even know.
Starting point is 00:06:53 It could literally could be anybody. It could be me. Yeah. you know i mean i feel like the comedy scene is like high school except in high school people were very bold and like i don't fucking like you i'm gonna be a bully but yeah let's get back to that yeah but in comedy people won't like you but they'll dm you like hey i would love to do your show and then they'll show up to your show and sit in the back and just be like but we don't like each other why do you want to be on my fucking show because your show is good y'all ain't got
Starting point is 00:07:24 y'all they ain't got no shame yeah so i won't be doing that i won't be doing i'm not showing up to somebody i don't like show to get on their show you said this week you were an expert at being fake oh yeah i i mean if i'm hosting a show and i didn't book the show okay and you're on the show then you'll say hello to that person yeah why not hey how you doing what's up sydney i feel like i know at your core you are a Regina George okay and because you I've seen you be mean to people but like I feel
Starting point is 00:07:57 like people in the room people in the room you're gonna let her drag me like they don't they don't know you I know you sis I've seen you be there I've seen you I've seen you sis that's a lie I've seen you be mean to people is what I'm saying when where oh sis let's talk about it
Starting point is 00:08:13 bring out the receipts let's take it back to summer 2000 what year is it 2016 that's so long ago but i'm saying i can go back it's not a race it's still clear as day in my terrible memory remember how many times you've been mean because you are mean consistently okay i'm consistent i'm an expert at consistency i'm not an actor i'm consistent yeah but i'm saying i've seen you be mean to people so why are we don't say no you be mean to me by saying no i've seeing you be mean to people so why are we why are you wasting energy pretending that you are okay with somebody isn't it easy to just be like well we're not cool so we don't talk and now we see
Starting point is 00:08:53 each other and we're cordial it's not nasty or spiteful but like i don't like you so i'm not talking to you i i think sometimes in workplaces you can't do that sis we're comedians the way you act like we're in an office and it's cubicles and a xerox machine and a fat like if you're not cool with somebody why exert that energy it's not exerting because deep down inside i am a nice person i love people yes yes deep down that's your core you nice to people i'm that's why it takes me more energy to be rude and like pay you dirt like that's too much for me i don't need that energy i want to well i don't want to one of us got to be bad cop so i guess i'll be that oh you don't guess that's what you are since you're also bad cop so it's it's bad cop worst
Starting point is 00:09:38 cop and you're like I'm nice to everybody okay you know what speaking of nice to everybody yeah you are a nice person genuinely at your core yes it's light and like ash right like ashiness and light
Starting point is 00:09:54 I would throw this whole bottle of water at you bitch but I'm just saying you don't have to be nice to everybody because that means you're being mean to yourself ooh look at that self-care okay self-care that's what the white people call it self-care I don't like you so self-care Bootleg Zoloft, just not exerting that energy.
Starting point is 00:10:12 Sis, self-care. Our guest today, very funny comedian. You're going to love him. He is our Greek expert. It's George Severus. Hello. Hey, George. Hi.
Starting point is 00:10:21 Wait, Marie, I love that you, after various inconsistent attempts to define what Sydney is, whether she's nice or mean, you really brought it back when you said, no, no, when you just said, if you're nice to everyone else you're mean to yourself as though that was your
Starting point is 00:10:40 the message all along message when I tell you that bitch got gems she got a little bit of gems she throw it in there listen throw it in a circle throw it in a circle George when you're being nice to people you don't really like you're being mean to yourself that's what you think George because you are
Starting point is 00:10:56 you're a nice person you're yeah I could tell how clean like shaving you are and how like nicer your hair you got like no no no no I mean this week I was on George's facebook and he named a name of somebody i did wait wait wait you know what though i would you say that's out of character for me though no i feel like that feels like oh this is george at at his like in his prime maybe that's like interpersonally i feel like i can be honest
Starting point is 00:11:26 with people within comedy yeah but i i never get involved in comedy drama like on social media and stuff and this was like the first and i had like i hadn't posted on facebook at all in like five months and the first thing you posted something shady what happened well i'm not gonna we can you know what's going on you know what's going on someone we know yes went on a podcast yes oh okay i don't know what drama yeah yeah okay so she walked off and then now there she walked off and now it's a whole thing and she's getting harassed for it and then this one person and the situation was being i thought very dishonest yes about and so and frankly like so i just did a comedy festival in rhode island not to brag
Starting point is 00:12:07 and she hosted one of the shows i did and she was like super nice and normal and i actually had like a great time with her um and i and i think it was just i was so shocked that someone could be so cruel it's like the opposite of what we're talking about like being fake in person and then being like super mean online which in my mind it's like so obvious that it should be the other way around right don't be mean online because i'm gonna see you in person yeah and you're gonna have to be mean to my face that's true be disrespectful when you see me i mean i'm not gonna do anything but like we're gonna have some words i respect that one time i was um i was talking to sam taggart and uh has he been a guest yes our hit maker okay there you go hit maker oh
Starting point is 00:12:52 that's good yeah he is a hit maker um and i was talking to him and this was like well sydney knows this i recently was going through a very hard time personally so i was just like all over the place and i like showed up to this party started talking to sam and i just like could not form a sentence like he was like how are you and i just was like oh i've been i just i've been feeling kind of like crazy lately yeah and then and then we were just like trying to have a conversation sam just turns to me and goes this is hard the conversation just having a conversation yeah and i was like i respect that like i would actually rather you point that out yeah then try to make small talk for another 20 minutes when i'm clearly struggling able to communicate yeah
Starting point is 00:13:35 he's your friend he was yeah sure but it's just like and i saw him recently and i was like trying to drag him for and i was like that you know whatever and he was like well you were being really weird yeah so anyway but i mean i why is it though that we feel like we have to like we don't everybody doesn't need to know our business they don't need to know what we're going through specifically but like if i'm having a hard time and i i mean i guess i could have stayed home instead of coming to this party but like i wanted to be outside and like be around people maybe distract myself from what i'm dealing with and you ask me how i'm doing and i'm like good uh somebody asked me the other day and i said good and then i was like actually i'm just okay
Starting point is 00:14:15 yeah okay yeah i can't it's funny that sydney you were talking about being fake because i feel like the older i get the less able i am to right which i feel like is the opposite of what should happen is you should be like more attuned to social situations the more experiences you have and then you should be able to like act accordingly based on where you are but i also feel like comedy encourages you to kind of like prolong your adolescence in a way where i yeah it's like what you're saying that it's like high school like i almost feel like after i graduated college i actually like started acting like more of an adult and then when i started doing comedy i regressed and now it's like well i think this is what happens the older you get the less patience
Starting point is 00:14:54 you have in your body yeah for stuff that doesn't benefit you or like you i don't want to waste my time yeah i already waste my time by myself i procrastinate my balls off right so much so that I no longer have balls, but I'm just like, it's the opposite for me. I just, I feel like the older that I get, I mean, I've always not really cared that much about what people think, but like the older that I've been getting, the less time I have to waste my time with other people. Yeah. But I've, I've seen people be really nasty to people in person when it's like unnecessary
Starting point is 00:15:26 and it's like, okay, I know you don't like that, but it's not. Yeah. But I'm not saying that you have to be nasty. if i don't like you and and you rub me the wrong way then i don't have to come like when we bump into each other in public i'm not gonna be like hey you good like i'm just like i'm not gonna talk to you no absolutely but i'm saying if we're if we're on a like a gig if we had a show if we're like same we're booked for the same commercial or something like that i'm not gonna be icing you because that's weird energy in the room that you don't need so say hi to everybody and then sit
Starting point is 00:15:59 ass down you know what though okay i'm like i'm like i'm like talking a big game but ultimately it's like if anyone moderately more successful than me says anything nice i'm like oh do you want me to wash your feet i drive him with my hair george let's talk about who you are and where you're from what you're doing yes um whoa wait that's a big question okay no let's talk to us about who you are yeah where you're from you just moved down to new york i did well it's been over a year can you believe it uh no can you believe that we met last last summer summer yeah maria and i were in montreal together yeah it was like summer camp we went to camp uh yeah that's where we met and then you moved to new york like a couple months later yeah like a month later and
Starting point is 00:16:49 yeah so i was uh i've been in new york for a little over a year before that i was in boston and before that I was in San Francisco and then growing up my family moved back and forth between here and Greece so I like lived in Athens Greece until I was in second grade then we lived in get ready for this
Starting point is 00:17:06 New Jersey everything up to this point has been like fine so I lived in like and not the type of New Jersey that it was was like white republic it was like connecticut basically it was like connecticut new jersey it was like people that were like commuting to manhattan and like living in the suburbs yeah oh harford you know what i sure like whatever yeah um just like very uh republican so how did your family
Starting point is 00:17:36 go from athens to new jersey well so money yeah that's what happened yeah yeah yeah my dad my dad uh both my parents have phds in engineering and they're like it's a whole yeah am i and they were both probably gonna end up being like professors or something but then when my dad was graduating that's when like wall street was recruiting like engineers because they needed people to do math oh so he like got recruit he just like started working in finance oh wow so your parents got money that's a big leap it is yeah well it yeah because they were like so i didn't have an engineering degree and work on wall street yeah because they just need people to like write algorithms oh and like do math and steal from people okay okay let's get into it
Starting point is 00:18:28 george you get your turn in red is that what you're doing well no it's funny because i don't Well, OK, so that was like for a very brief period of time. And now my dad works in like a small European bank that isn't like, you know, it's like it was never my dad is like a nerdy math guy who has like a thick Greek accent and is like very just like, I don't know, like personally has good politics. It's it's like he's a good person. he is like not the state he like i feel like there was like a certain generation of people that were just kind of like nerdy math and computer science people that like got recruited
Starting point is 00:19:16 um because at the time that was like the hot new thing it was like before that it was like ai like artificial intelligence like and then like in the 90s like the you know like everyone was going into finance i don't know i'm talking on my ass um the point is he i he is an ethical person you're saying my dad is a good person well let's talk about what we know about greece right sydney let's let's back and forth just to say things that you know about greece uh was hercules set in greece yes the move the disney movie wow yeah okay so i know that that i saw that movie uh the cartoon uh greece i love me a cute ass gyro right yep gyro is it gyro gyro with the with the tzatziki tzatziki yeah white sauce um i what else do i know about greece in my mind
Starting point is 00:20:09 when i think of men that are greek they're like big and hairy and dark hair they look like eric bano oh yeah uh but then i met a greek i went on a date with a greek dude when i was in vegas in september and he was short and bald and i was like yeah we have those as well i was like both your parents is great this is what you it's inconsistent I would say like in terms of
Starting point is 00:20:31 Greek men being attractive we run the gamut like I know Mykonos is beautiful Mykonos yes
Starting point is 00:20:42 I gotta forget about Mykonos it's gorgeous I know that Lindsay Lohan is there have you been to Mykonos I've never been to Mykonos I've never been but apparently
Starting point is 00:20:48 have you ever been to Greece this was the year of Mykonos because all my Instagram bloggers and whatnot were there taking pictures and amongst white walls and blue skies.
Starting point is 00:20:57 They were auditioning for Lindsay Lohan's new reality show. Yeah, yeah. Well, yeah, and they were looking for... Listen, I went to Mykonos for the first time when I was 12. Okay. And then I went there again when I was 18. Okay. After I graduated high school.
Starting point is 00:21:11 So talk to us about what Mykonos looks like, what's happening there. Yeah, well, okay. So Mykonos was like, I would say like a generation ago, It was like very seedy and like just dirty. And that's why all the gay people went there. Because it was like, this is, we're going to like. They're like, it's disgusting.
Starting point is 00:21:34 No, just like. It's disgusting. Let's make it nice. I mean, it's like how all, I don't want, we don't have to get into this, but it's like the general kind of dynamics of gentrification. It's like, you know, artistic and like gay people will move into like. in this case they weren't driving out any locals like it was an island
Starting point is 00:21:53 locals were like we're out it's not like yeah they're not like driven into the ocean but so then it became this like gay mecca without being like trendy it was just like where gay Greek people would go because they were like not wanted elsewhere and then I would
Starting point is 00:22:10 say like in the I guess 2000s it became like super bougie and now Yeah, because somebody opened up a cafe or something. Yeah. Because, you know, where there are gays, there's going to be boutiques. Yeah. Oh, my gosh.
Starting point is 00:22:25 And where there are boutiques, there will be bougie white women that are like, oh, God, yeah. And they'll be bringing their dogs. And then all of a sudden, it's a nightclub. And you're like, oh, my God, is David Guetta here? Wait, do you want to hear something insane? Yes. When I was in high school, one of my classmates, this is David Guetta, remind me of this. one so i went to this high school that was i mean obviously athens is a very small city compared to
Starting point is 00:22:50 like new york or something right um so i went to a high school that had a lot of like prominent greek people in it okay and one of the uh kids who lived there had like parents that were like politicians and his mom worked on like the athens olympics blah blah anyway so he had a birthday party and i went there and they rented out an entire club and then the dj came out and it was tiesto oh and that was like in the peak of big deal it was a big deal back then especially in europe yeah definitely big deal anyway um how much does how much do you think i have no idea oh they're getting thousand thousands upon thousand thousand yeah but for this was a i think i heard a rumor that it was like a hundred thousand i believe yeah yeah to just be like
Starting point is 00:23:34 and it sounds like the same song yeah over and over it sounds like you're listening to the same song for like four hours yeah when i was in high school a big well first of all there's no drinking age in greece so i could go into a bar and order drinks when i was 13 um and then were you yeah it was why not yeah um but don't stop me but it was like during the era of like edm that kind of like euro edm music being everywhere so it was just like we were literally like 14 going into clubs and thinking we looked so cool and i had not like started shaving yet but i feel like at that like euros are kind of cool like they're they're ahead of their head of their their time because they get to be older and not have like these restrictions yeah yeah well i think you go through your
Starting point is 00:24:30 embarrassing phase earlier on so like if you look at photos of me from high school first of all i was just like i didn't have like a graceful puberty which is fine you know but i was also like i just my ideas of what was cool was based on like the euro looks that i was seeing right so it was like me being like a short very overweight teenager wearing like oversized mark jacobs like glasses and then i was like oh yeah like um d squared jeans like okay come on and then you're at lunchtime at school you're drinking like a red cap you're drinking a cabernet you're smoking a cigarette oh my god smoke yeah capri you're drinking you're smoking a capri cigarette yeah uh you are a fat kid yeah really that's like a whole other thing yeah so i
Starting point is 00:25:17 was like i taught i i'm trying to think if you've seen me talk about this on stage but i i used to be very fat in high school and the reason i think was because i when we moved back to greece i there was so much it took me so long to kind of like catch up academically with everyone because i suddenly was in a greek-speaking high school like i went from being in an english-speaking school to doing everything in greek right which like the language is already a problem but like even just like doing science and math in the greek language it was like a whole new thing so basically i just gave up any kind of physical activity like when i was in middle school i would like swim and like walk to places and like i played sport i don't know i just like i was never good at sports but
Starting point is 00:25:58 i was just like as active as any other kid it was freeing you could just do and i literally stopped moving like i would like go to school and then i would like go to some kind of after school like you know the equivalent for greek like es you know like greek it wasn't it wasn't my second language but it was like greek gsl yeah greek is a second language so and i would do that then i would like have a hard time with my homework blah blah and then you'd be struggling yeah and i just like super put on i mean within two years i don't know how much i weighed but i remember my junior year of high school my pant size was 40 which like to give content like right now i'm i don't know i'm probably like a 31 or something but like oh yeah 40 yeah and you're very slender well thank
Starting point is 00:26:41 you yeah i mean i mean you learn i mean not that you learned the greek you started uh uh cleansing you did a cleanse how did you lose the weight my mom your mom was like oh my son is fat this is literally well my mom so it's like whatever like greek food is all like like grilled i know healthy and like it's like seafood but i was not eating dominoes yeah i was i didn't start eating vegetables until college or i feel you on that though george no don't high five on that like my mom would put out like a nice meal and it would be like a salad chicken and like a side and i would have like only chicken and then i would have i would like go and buy ice cream chicken and ice cream not together fried chicken because fried chicken and ice cream sounds like
Starting point is 00:27:26 fried chicken fried ice cream and then it was just like a whole thing in my family that that i mean i no one told you you were fat no no everyone did like greek people are not like are not embarrassed to talk about that stuff so i would like walk into a room and my grandma would be like oh we're still gaining weight huh wait does she say it in greek yeah oh say it too oh that don't even sound nice oh that sounds nice to me no say it one more time one more time in slow okay okay i feel close it's great i'm like real my mic is real close to this face it's a triggering memory for me wait wait say it one more time so what i'm saying slow what i'm literally saying is you're still fat i see which yes okay a coma a coma jodros jodros ise ise vlepo vlepo
Starting point is 00:28:20 yeah vlepo is fat no vlepo is i see i see i see vlepo well honestly that would that would sound hot during sex oh yes yeah i mean to this day i make everyone tell me i look fat during sex if somebody said that to me when I was having sex with them I'd be like wow you must be talking about my pussy that's not what I would say
Starting point is 00:28:41 no it's not so then my pastor listens to this I love it Greek is such a sexy language is it? I think
Starting point is 00:28:51 you know what I'm gonna agree with you it is a sexy language it sounds kind of like Spanish a little bit yeah it does it's the same accent right
Starting point is 00:29:00 but it's not like it's not like harsh like German yeah it's not I do think that I've Like, I will sometimes intentionally, like, pick up the phone if a family member is calling in front of, like, a guy that I like, just so he can hear me speak Greek. And I'll be like, my God, sorry, so embarrassing.
Starting point is 00:29:18 Like, that was my mom. So sorry. How do you pick up when your mom calls? What do you mean? How? Yeah, like, what are you going to say? Like, if your mom's on the phone. Do you want me to just keep speaking Greek?
Starting point is 00:29:26 Yes. Ring, ring, ring. Okay, so let's say the phone rings. I'll pick up and be like, that's not like you ordered something i'm gonna get a matikani can i get a matikani uh but no ice no ice i love it okay so now when we think of greek people we think of i don't know was that was he greek uh what what's uh we talked about the girls already like what else
Starting point is 00:29:59 are y'all eating there like what's oh okay so i have two greek grandmothers both of whom are extremely good cooks obviously um but you didn't bring us nothing though i know well because they're in fucking greek yogurt no desserts or whatnot nothing so like okay for me a huge thing is like spanakopita which is like a spinach and cheese oh yeah joe's got that those are good so here's the thing if you buy them at trader joe's or like wherever else they'll be made with like store-bought phyllo and the secret is Is it like the flake?
Starting point is 00:30:29 Yeah, the flake. But the secret is that you have to make your own phyllo dough and then it's really good. Do you make that? I have in the past. Ah, fuck.
Starting point is 00:30:37 You know the way you said it. I'm like, you don't put no love in it. No, thanks. No, thanks. No, because the Greek things that I do make are like, now I'm like trying to eat healthy
Starting point is 00:30:44 and the Greek things I do make are like all the healthy stuff which is like not exciting. What the fuck are you making? Cucumbers and sea salt? It's literally like, like you're not gonna be impressed with anything.
Starting point is 00:30:54 What are you making? Like, there is this one Greek dish called, like, briyami, which is, like, almost like a ratatouille. It's, like, potatoes and, like, vegetables and, like, a tomato sauce. And you'll eat it with, like, feta. Yes. No, it's good. But it's not, like, you know, moussaka, which my grandmother makes, which is literally, like, it's, like, eggplant and potatoes and then bechamel sauce on top. And then, like, it's just, like, a, how would you describe bechamel sauce?
Starting point is 00:31:21 It's, like, a. Like a red sauce? No, no. it's like a white but like buttery creamy thing yeah like an alfredo
Starting point is 00:31:31 there's like a heavy cream in it and then you god I'm so hungry yo can you give me your grandma's digits can we facetime her and like she can teach us
Starting point is 00:31:41 how to make some of this stuff oh my god she can we go live with Nana she does she has like a she has fig trees and she makes fig jam
Starting point is 00:31:51 every year oh I love fig jam yeah and it's And one time I brought some friends, some friends were visiting Greece and they like came over and she like did like a fig jam making like seminar for all of us.
Starting point is 00:32:01 And everybody was like, wow, this is amazing. We canned it and everything. I'm here for all of this. I would date you. I would date you just off this right here. You got culture. You got a nana.
Starting point is 00:32:11 Like what's good? Two nanas. Two nanas. You're single. Do you want to talk about it? Sure. Well, it's funny. I walked in and Sydney was like,
Starting point is 00:32:19 I was thinking you could be our long-term relationship expert knowing that i just broke up with someone that i did it for six years i was like sydney they're not together no more that's the guy i know and sydney knows the story which i don't think i can this exactly this is more of sydney like no but i'm happy well you know what i would like to talk about sure is like i don't know how to be single okay let's get into it because i wintertime is coming i started dating my ex in during my senior year of college and then we were together for six years so i was in the same right there yeah you missed it you missed all your glorious
Starting point is 00:32:56 horrors looking back i get it george george looking back it's like i mean yeah you're happy in the moment yeah yeah yeah for sure six years is a long time to be with somebody like right out of college yeah but after college you don't even know what like like real love is no you don't know what you don't know what living is until a couple years after college yeah because then you're like oh this is what the real world is it's like this weird thing where like we both i mean you change so much from the this is you know from the ages like 21 to 27 right so like you change so much during that time and the one thing that remained constant was the relationship and now do you know what i mean
Starting point is 00:33:36 like boring it's not even necessarily that it's boring it's just that like you're growing because you're not even an adult really when you get out of college you're like a dumb ass 21 year old yeah no it felt like we like grew up together right you don't know how to like you don't know how to fold laundry properly you don't know nothing right yeah well i mean you he still does not anyway but so how did you meet so how did you meet um how did we meet well actually this goes back to like one of the topics i suggested we met when you were both living in a 25 person cooperative house which is a that's not like a brothel my man my guy my guy so it's like 25 people were living in this house how many bedrooms is this place it's like is it a building or a house it is
Starting point is 00:34:20 it's like a i would say it like looks like a really large mansion like a victorian that was like converted that's what you say listen let's let us see photos yeah it looks like a mansion yeah it's a shack it's a shanty you're living in a ranch you were living in a mobile home so 25 people lived there how many bathrooms well so here's the thing so I lived in co-ops for three years
Starting point is 00:34:46 the first one I lived in which was actually like queer themed so on top of everything else everybody was queer the theme is
Starting point is 00:34:55 seashells the theme is ducks okay wait this is the house everything is covered in ducks Sydney wear your shoes what's happening friend I'm sorry
Starting point is 00:35:05 we're talking to a classy guest about about sharing a bathroom with 25 people a bathroom with 90 exactly like let me just put my foot on the table oh my god people don't see this when we do the podcast but sydney is gross oh shit that's oh there's some greenwich connecticut shit right yeah it looks good actually you're right you know what it looks plantation yeah it looks like a like a frat house like a less threatening frat house yeah it's actually
Starting point is 00:35:36 okay so you were saying here how does one get into a cooperative queer living space right so this one was not the crew this is is this even interesting okay i can just talk about i can start being funny whatever you want didn't even cover her mouth this is the regina george i was talking about she's like oh that's nice that's the ugliest house i've ever seen i mean a color they could have done a paint job on that yeah okay so you're living in this space so I started living in the queer one I lived
Starting point is 00:36:07 and that was 35 people how many bathrooms are y'all sharing is it a bath real questions Marie I'm asking real questions how many bathrooms okay so there were maybe four bathrooms that's not enough bathrooms that many people know 35 people taking
Starting point is 00:36:23 dumps in four bathrooms and you know two of them were half half baths okay okay I didn't even feel bad. It was two and a half, two. It's a closet with a toilet in there. Okay. Who's cleaning the house?
Starting point is 00:36:35 Y'all getting the cleaning lady? Right, so, no. So, there's, like, a schedule. It's, like, there's, like, a house manager, which is a student. An RA. There's a house manager and an RA, two kitchen managers who are in charge of, like, ordering food and, like, assigning dinners and stuff. And a social manager who's in charge of throwing parties.
Starting point is 00:36:54 Sounds like a lot of managers. Right. Well, you need that with that many people. I applied to be on staff two years and never got it. And they were like, mm-mm. Wait, how do you not get accepted as that? I did not. Like, how?
Starting point is 00:37:08 Because the year's previous staff selects the next year's staff. Oh, and they were like. So it's also awkward because it's like your friends that you lived with. And they just were like, nah. And I'm like, we like you. You can live here, but you can't manage. I went into the interview and I just like, I was like, yeah, like. That's why you didn't get it, George.
Starting point is 00:37:25 As everyone knows, like, I'm, you know. You're like, yeah. You came in there with a button down and you had a blazer. And you're like, yeah, I just want to be the manager here. And I'm out of here, dude. So they were like, fuck off. They're like, take your briefcase and get the fuck out of here. It's a not.
Starting point is 00:37:38 Oh, God. I was offended, too. And the guy they chose. Who was the guy? He was like another gay. This is not the Queer Cop. So it's not everyone's gay. It was another gay guy.
Starting point is 00:37:49 But it was another gay guy. So I was like, oh, I see. Yeah, he was bringing poppers. he was the fun guy yeah he was that's true he was on cocaine after the interview
Starting point is 00:37:59 do you know what he was a gymnast who is now an alternate oh he was fucking everybody yeah he was like he came in backwards he crab walked in
Starting point is 00:38:07 yeah he like exorcist like down the stairs yeah he exorcist in yeah and he was like he did a PA with his dick I think he might be an alternative
Starting point is 00:38:14 on the Olympics team on the US Olympics team oh word good for him oh as a gymnast yeah no as a as a kitchen manager
Starting point is 00:38:21 yes drag him come through George be me yes this is George I want come on come on kitchen manager
Starting point is 00:38:31 so you did that that's where you met the year so I lived in the queer one for one year then the other one for two years and then the second one
Starting point is 00:38:39 is where I met my ex and we were so we like are y'all paying rent in this house you pay less than you would if you were living
Starting point is 00:38:47 in the dorms how much if it's 35 people in that bitch my rent should be $12 $5 and that should include my money for the food
Starting point is 00:38:56 well I can't remember because I mean the way like financial aid and all of that it like it was all part of one bill so I don't know
Starting point is 00:39:02 how much was housing and how much was tuition yeah so I live in a I think it was in a group home it was a halfway house it's so funny because I was like
Starting point is 00:39:09 wow it's like so cool that I get to live in this house that has all this like culture instead of living in a boring dorm and then everyone was living in a dorm was like yeah we have showers
Starting point is 00:39:16 yeah they were like we it's the same thing yeah literally you had an RA also and also someone cleans our
Starting point is 00:39:23 anyway so so yeah like you wait what was the question yeah we met there when I was you met him there yeah and then dated for six years
Starting point is 00:39:31 yeah so we dated so it's funny because when we met we were literally living in the same house and then we went from that to living you know at least
Starting point is 00:39:38 in the same city we were both living in the Bay Area and then we did long distance for two years where after I moved from I know I know
Starting point is 00:39:46 listen you really liked him I'm so tired I'm glad for you to be free man I'm excited for you It's funny because there's so many I do ultimately like You know we're on good terms
Starting point is 00:40:02 But are you George? Because the way you just rolled over that Do you want to know something? I'm having drinks with him tonight And it's my first time seeing him So you got your good draws on? Wait wait wait He got his good boxer briefs on
Starting point is 00:40:18 He don't know how tonight's going to go, so that's why he's like, I don't want to say too much. No, yeah, yeah, yeah. I see what you're doing there, George. And I feel like we're having drinks tonight. No, no, no. You're right. George, okay, you manscaped? Did I?
Starting point is 00:40:30 I did not. You manscaped? Or no? He's going to get this Forrest Whitaker situation down here. Wait, what? I know what you're saying. What? I know what you're saying.
Starting point is 00:40:42 Okay. What I think Forrest Whitaker, I think he has that one slow eye. so you're saying George has a one I have one slow ball that's what I meant thank you George save for the layup
Starting point is 00:40:57 high five y'all are this is too much I mean listen so yeah having drinks tonight who initiated that oh George
Starting point is 00:41:05 you reached out I know no he did he was the one who reached out what did he say let's read into it
Starting point is 00:41:11 we want to see what's happening okay so here's what happened so we you're gonna this is gonna get worse okay are you ready
Starting point is 00:41:17 well I'm comfortable let's take my shoes off do you need an alias do we need to change the name up top let everyone who knows me knows who
Starting point is 00:41:24 everyone's like oh this might be also you know what when I moved to New York it was very much because everyone I was like oh where are you living
Starting point is 00:41:32 who are you living with and I would always be and I hate other people like this but I would always be like oh yeah I'm actually living with my boyfriend have you met my boyfriend
Starting point is 00:41:39 like this is my boyfriend and then and it was just kind of like have you met George's boyfriend oh he's so sweet boyfriend and then
Starting point is 00:41:46 whatever and then he like met a lot of my comedian friends whatever and then it's just like embarrassing to have that be like such a big part of like
Starting point is 00:41:55 oh yeah I moved to New York to live with him and then like a year later after a six year relationship you break up and I was talking to Matt
Starting point is 00:42:02 oh god I'm like dragging I was talking to Matt Rogers but this is what you need you needed that this is your therapy right now yeah talk to S&M and let us tell you
Starting point is 00:42:09 what you need to do and we're not even charging you boo okay there's no fee you didn't bring no foot no what is it Svetlana you didn't bring no food
Starting point is 00:42:16 you didn't bring no spinach no meat and potatoes you didn't bring no cornucopias rude because when I met you last summer you were like oh I'm moving to New York to live with my boyfriend and I was like and now whenever I see George I'm like
Starting point is 00:42:33 how's your boyfriend doing but this is what you needed like this was the test this was the real world road rules challenge the gauntlet and I'm like cause yeah so we went from long distance to living together and I'm not that's when people break up
Starting point is 00:42:47 exactly is after the long distance relationship because I was in a long distance relationship and when I moved to New York I was like alright I'm done with you because when you're when you're long distance
Starting point is 00:42:56 you're like well we've put so much effort into this so we owe it to ourselves to like to see what happens to see what happens I don't owe shit to myself
Starting point is 00:43:05 I owe the government I don't owe nothing to myself Sydney how much do you owe the government in 2018 oh honey ciao boo boo
Starting point is 00:43:11 what's the final tally sis oh my god I don't even want to talk about it thousands upon thousands on thousands upon thousands okay so yeah you're sitting home it's raining you're like let me text this guy see if he wants to get a drink with me on tuesday september or whatever day today no he texted me oh yeah marie said that but what did he say well okay here's what happened so all right this is the embarrassing thing i was going to talk about so um the context okay is that we broke up like maybe in like may or june okay but then
Starting point is 00:43:45 we wrote out the lease together that's a very new york yeah until the end of august so in fact even though this isn't like super new i've only been i've only been moved and like if we're being honest like when we were still living together it's like yeah i was still bad you know what i mean yeah I want to sleep on the bed I don't want to sleep on the couch it's also like what am I going to do bring someone home I pay half the rent did you not watch
Starting point is 00:44:16 Insecure Daniel was bringing people home but he was also paying all of the rent Issa was sleeping on the couch I guess I gotta hear him wearing somebody else out this season nothing happened this season and I have to say last season
Starting point is 00:44:31 I loved yeah this season I felt like the finale I was like is this the last episode of the season I know I was pretty annoyed but the only good episode of Insecure this season was the Mali episode I loved that so much when they did Mali at Coachella oh my god I should have been the Coachella expert I went
Starting point is 00:44:47 twice when I was in college I mean we got a couple times you went to Coachella twice all that money you were saving living on that I know exactly yeah for sure for sure who performed when you went okay so the big ones were okay so i was really into frank ocean like before channel orange no but that's great that's great though
Starting point is 00:45:06 i love it yeah i love before people get famous that's when you like really and you know who else was that that year the two people that i felt very cool about knowing before they were famous were frank ocean and the weekend oh yeah because the weekend was like it was like when he released like the what that like it was like four it was like four or five tracks or something on yeah i can't remember what it was did he have the dirty hair or not like the homeless he didn't have the dirty it wasn't like yeah it wasn't that yeah it wasn't clumpy yeah because you know what people with dreads they start to like let the dreads turn into super dreads yeah just take over he didn't look like a sour patch kid no oh wait the other thing which i mean you've heard me talk
Starting point is 00:45:46 about but um i was there when the tupac hologram came out oh you were there for two did it look good in real life i thought well i again i have a joke about this but i was on molly and thought it was the I thought that I legitimately was like well you know I've heard rumors for a while the rumors are true and I was like oh this actually like makes so much sense like he would make his
Starting point is 00:46:07 comeback at Kucho so Molly does pair well with an outdoor dusty festival in a desert that's what it's for that's when you're supposed to do it I thought Molly was for like raves at inside places when I think of Molly I think
Starting point is 00:46:23 inside not outside oh interesting well yeah i mean you could do it either but i just feel like i mean it's almost like that's the stereotype is like basic people at coachella that are all on molly and there's like strobe lights and they're all like strobe lights this is how you do molly okay tell us coach you do molly in a house like you do it in a house you do it at a house party you do it at a rave like you got to get you got to get it going before you could do it outside because your face start making weird ass your eyes start rolling yeah but no one sees you if you're in a house then people can see your face whereas if you're low it's low it's dim yeah well it's dark molly during
Starting point is 00:46:59 the day i'm like wow you're a professional at this right because coachella is an all-day thing it is that's true but i we would do it at night during the day you'll like on shoes no no well actually some people do do that but i i no thanks i would like freak i just can't really shrooms is not for you no it is but not at coach like i would i have to be like sitting still on a mountain you gotta be sitting near a cactus yeah to do you did a little bit of shrooms this weekend i did no oh look at that i was like no you were so quick to say i was like girl no you had like a little teaspoon i had a little baby but i didn't take enough to for it to affect me but i read an article it's all about um taking less than you think you have to i think no i i didn't
Starting point is 00:47:49 hit me i think you should do say that with any drug take less than you think you need sure and then because a lot of us will be like oh i took a whole thing and then it's like no but but you wasn't ready then you turned into like the fucking oscar the grouch you look crazy your face is making all these faces and you're no i'm just i think with edibles mainly that's the thing where you're like i should take more of these edibles and then like half an hour later you're like yeah that was too much yeah but the best stories come from when you do too much of anything is that true no that's not my truth i mean that must be sydney's truth when i lost my job it's because i had 15 shots i mean that was great was it best story you was all the way unemployed
Starting point is 00:48:31 you were all the way unemployed yo i woke i walked in that bitch like i'm getting fired tonight okay do you know what weirdly was the one thing that i had too much of during um that coachella it was i someone just gave me a blunt see i already don't like the way this story sounds someone just gave you who was the it was my friend but it was like okay so i i it's california so everything weed is stronger there right um and we were at james blake okay um which yeah i had sex to him and i cried oh i would too to a song but you said i had sex to him and it sounded like you we're trying to have sex with him i had sex with him and i cried yeah i don't know about my life that was the era yeah oh my god that's the song marie oh my god cindy you lost your virginity
Starting point is 00:49:22 to james blake i don't know about your dreaming anymore okay oh my god so you um no it's whatever then i just started freaking out he brought out rizza and then rizza was like rizza and james blake yeah i think they have a song together yeah that's some coachella shit it was very you know what um okay uh someone i want to say david guetta brought out rihanna but i was too far back and thought that it was just a recording and i just like couldn't see and i was like i don't even want i don't even care about david guetta i'm gonna leave and i left while rihanna was on stage and i just didn't know that's how underwhelming she is life no stop that's how underwhelmed. Rihanna was also
Starting point is 00:50:04 on Mali and she was on stage. But Rihanna likes to perform high. You know? You know when people don't really have the choreography or the live vocals. It's like, sis, you gotta pick one. We don't have to get into it. I disagree. I think that she has
Starting point is 00:50:19 I think maybe that was true six years ago. Which thing do you think she has? I think she now has the vocals and the choreography. He raised an eyebrow when he said the vocals and the choreography. I'm definitely gonna disagree on both. Okay, wow. Live.
Starting point is 00:50:33 No. George? First of all, she's wearing like one of those gaucho boots. Like the boots are too big. No, no, the boots that come up to the pants, that make pants. Yeah. I can't. I will say that the last two MTV performances that she's done at the VMAs are entertaining
Starting point is 00:50:49 to watch. Okay, what about- And she got 50 people on stage. What about- But she's putting on a show. Like she's fun to watch. She was fun to watch in those videos, but like an hour long Rihanna concert. No, thank you.
Starting point is 00:51:01 like I'm not she not gonna give us the same energy for the whole like I don't know I went to the tour for Unapologetic
Starting point is 00:51:08 okay what songs what's that era what songs she unapologetically gave you a whack ass concert she unapologetically
Starting point is 00:51:15 did not hit the eight count I cannot believe I'm being attacked George okay Unapologetic tour what are the songs the songs for Unapologetic
Starting point is 00:51:23 were fuck see okay no no Diamonds was the lead single which is not a great song but whatever it's not
Starting point is 00:51:30 but it's like it wasn't even about the songs in that album she was doing all the hits it was like she did like we found love and like uh you know umbrella like all the bit whatever we found love what is rihanna's voice doing at the lot like where where does it crack because i feel like it's gonna crack have you seen the snl performance of stay no it's really good okay and it's like a full-on ballad that like requires yes but was she i will not back down or was she won't back down forever dog run that back run the tapes back we want it i need to see yeah because i don't believe you should play how do we feel about so rihanna is your number one or one listen i'm not gonna say
Starting point is 00:52:08 rihanna is my number one in terms of it sounds like it because you're ready to go toe for toe i would say she's my number one i think she's the most interesting pop star because i think she does interesting things interesting is a good word but that doesn't mean live she's i agree i I'm not trying to pay money to see that. Beyonce will have a simulation of rain and then be in the rain and then dance in the rain. Rihanna will just have it raining
Starting point is 00:52:36 and she'll be on the side of the rain like, look at the rain, y'all. In a Timbaland booth. Yeah, that's it. She won't even get in the water. Rihanna will be vaping on stage. She'll be lighting the blunt on stage while the dancers are dancing, I feel like.
Starting point is 00:52:51 But isn't that kind of- And the track will be playing and she's not singing. and then the song will play one more time it'll be on repeat but i do feel like rihanna is fun like i feel like she engages with people you know like she's having fun also like okay anti as an album for example is like in my opinion more you got to give me the songs on the on the i don't know okay you know what i hate you i know it's a little baby it's the baby belly with the crown but like what's the songs on that okay work yeah work so this is like the this is her most recent
Starting point is 00:53:23 album no desperado it is her most recent album yeah yeah the fact that y'all can't even fucking list what's on the damn album that's how trash it is they're like work is on it meanwhile beyonce is dangerously in love i've got like danger okay yeah let's talk about beyonce and jay-z okay baby boy i don't know what like i can name i can name what's on that interesting can you name what's on the album that she released with jay-z this year because i can't art art pop what's the one where she's in the loo no it's actually cheek to cheek what's the one when she's in the loo
Starting point is 00:54:01 yeah yeah monkey there we go I knew it was two words I was gonna say monkey business no George don't you dare ape shit monkey business is black eyed peas Sydney calm down okay
Starting point is 00:54:16 calm your balls so i'm just i'm confused because this is beyonce as a person is boring but as a performer is giving you entertainment yeah i would agree i guess as a person is entertaining but i feel like as a performer i don't want to see none of that okay so i'm gonna this is my final word on this okay rihanna i agree is better as a person than as a performer i would say live performance aside i really enjoy listening to a Rihanna album just like with headphones.
Starting point is 00:54:52 Yes, with headphones you're like, because you're on the train, you're hitting the notes with her. And often I enjoy that more than other pop stars who are maybe like better vocalists. Like Ariana Grande? Sure, yeah.
Starting point is 00:55:07 Ariana Grande? Can we talk about how she only wears sweaters with thigh-high boots? Is there a stylist here? Because she doesn't have a long torso, that's why. She got a short mug So she can wear A sweater as a dress But I mean
Starting point is 00:55:20 She can't hit Like an A-line No Or like a low rise pant No So then she gotta put The thigh high boots on To make you feel like
Starting point is 00:55:28 She elongates No I think this is her Trying to look older Because she still looks Like she's 12 Wait you think wearing Only an oversized hoodie Makes you look older
Starting point is 00:55:38 No I feel like she's trying To sex herself Oh totally She's like Instead of putting on Like some jeans Right right right
Starting point is 00:55:44 Cause have we ever seen Ariana Grande in some jeans no no i see selena gomez in some jeans and she also looks 12 yeah but i was like okay look at that grown young girl look at that 14 year old yeah selena gomez another person where i happily will listen to an album but cannot just cannot sing i have never heard it uh selena gomez what's her song i can't name it yeah i can't name a single i think they played her song one time in the check cashing place when they was about to close what's uh what's uh what's her biggest song of all time we think
Starting point is 00:56:14 same old love I know the Demi Lovato skyscraper song that came on on my Spotify shuffle if you really come and get it so I know that song but I don't know I didn't even realize that was Selena Gomez
Starting point is 00:56:29 I thought that was Fifth Harmony gun to my head and that is her charm is that she is an empty vessel an empty vessel but a lot of them are empty vessels it's some Fifth Harmony songs that I like hmm okay i like that i like their song like mariah what's the one where they're like uh you ain't gotta go to work work oh work we love that song well no it's a stupid song because it's
Starting point is 00:56:54 like nigga you gotta go to work no but i love the song you have to go you ain't gotta go to work but you gotta go to work yeah i'm gonna get you fired no you gotta go to work and you gotta work well now who do we have so camilla cabello cabello whatever her name is she's got that i mean i don't really like is there longevity here i don't think so no because her and selena and all these other pop stars they're like the same person who are who's like someone who's young and like interested like little utsy little uts or whatever little chips whatever my friends are dead that shit is great yo go hard yes but what's another song of his can you name another song of his because i can't all i know is that all his friends are dead is like that song was like
Starting point is 00:57:35 from like two years ago you see it's everlasting I'm still thinking about that song is it though friend I don't know but I like
Starting point is 00:57:44 I saw Normani's performance with the I love her oh she was great people were like that's the next Beyonce nah
Starting point is 00:57:51 I mean we ought to think Beyonce you know she not gonna be around family no she gonna keep it going Beyonce's gonna
Starting point is 00:57:58 she gonna fade soon no I don't see it I feel like we gonna give Beyonce what another 20 years of doing what she's doing yes if Janet
Starting point is 00:58:07 could come back but can Janet come back did Janet come back she did but Janet is not a vocalist no she's not Janet is whisper singing she's an experience she's been whisper singing since 1999
Starting point is 00:58:21 George I appreciate you going toe to toe with us with this Rihanna thing you really tried to come through with some like receipts but you failed and it's fine no no no no George I listen we'll do a follow up episode because I want to know what happens with your drinks tonight so we do need to do a follow up episode maybe come do a bonus episode at the house
Starting point is 00:58:41 are you going to make anything that's Greek and bring it to the meet up tonight? yeah tonight absolutely not can you imagine me you showed up at the bar with some Tupperware a Pyrex
Starting point is 00:58:57 just like he still has the gloves on and he's like careful it's hot I made a stew you know I made a stew George just pops up with like a like a sizzling
Starting point is 00:59:07 fajita plate if you bring a brisket like the Marvelous Maisel yeah bring a fucking brisket are you watching the Marvelous Maisel well
Starting point is 00:59:16 you know what I'm not meanwhile you go to a Rihanna concert and snore the whole time but you don't want to watch that okay Mrs. Marvelous Maisel
Starting point is 00:59:25 I just don't do you watch it I've watched it the first season was good was it yeah I watched the pilot and I was
Starting point is 00:59:31 there are too many shows to watch okay so what are you watching what's what's on your like what what are you well i mean i guess it's over now but i insecure is a big one right but this season was a it was a snooze fest yes and i feel like we have to by the way i went to college with isa ray um did she stay in the she did not live in a co-op and she's now successful interesting interesting and here you are on the podcast with us so you're just sounds like you're winning who's the winner here you or isa you uh okay so so insecure okay let's see um i'm like what am i watching yeah you got hbo go i'm waiting for game of thrones to come back
Starting point is 01:00:14 oh interesting are you doing no no interesting i don't watch it do you know what i just watched succession i don't know what that is okay do you know what it is sydney nope is that one of these like royal family exactly no no not right it's like a family that runs like a right-wing media Empire and the dad is like getting old so it's like he's passing down the company to one of his kids it's power right it's about power oh sorry Empire
Starting point is 01:00:37 no it's power I said Empire Empire and power is the same I haven't watched Empire since season one me me also me yeah I watched a lot of shows for the first season then I don't come back not because the shows aren't good I just don't feel like I need a second season don't you think Taraji P. Henson just like deserves like
Starting point is 01:00:53 like an Oscar movie like a full on she does she's an awesome actress and she took that L with that proud Mary or whatever
Starting point is 01:01:05 that's something that movie that she did and I was like I don't know what that is but she's doing like what men want oh okay she's doing the
Starting point is 01:01:12 what women the gender flopped female yeah yeah gender flopped female version I mean I hope it comes out right I'm praying because it's just like
Starting point is 01:01:20 I don't I be seeing these movies and I'm like oh come on who do you need to get on here to make it better yeah but you know what they're cutting the check she goes in she auditions to get some money
Starting point is 01:01:31 that's it you know what i mean like i feel like a lot of actors do bad movies regularly like i've never like certain like what's a good owen wilson movie you know like marley and me that was the best owen wilson what's a good vince vaughn movie what's a good katherine heigl movie like a lot of people do crappy movies yeah but all those people are not as talented as traji pianza right but Taraji P. Henson is a black woman and that's the difference is like Hollywood is not gonna give her
Starting point is 01:02:00 as many opportunities as they will to make those type of as a they're not gonna give her as many opportunities as a Bradley Cooper yeah
Starting point is 01:02:07 like Bradley Cooper was making has consistently made crappy movies right can you imagine if like yeah it's like his movies are
Starting point is 01:02:14 consistently trash but did you like A Star is Born I haven't seen it yet okay it feels too sad to me did you like it
Starting point is 01:02:23 I it was like so yeah I liked it we're not putting a gun to your head dude no I just feel like it was there was so much
Starting point is 01:02:33 hype around it that when I finally saw it I was like oh well that's what happens when anything it's the gays the gays were all
Starting point is 01:02:39 on board because they love Lady Gaga and they pushing for her and they pulling for her it's just like
Starting point is 01:02:44 we could have done without Bradley he didn't really need to be in the movie did you see the movie no but I just know he didn't need to be there he could have done
Starting point is 01:02:52 without him but did Lady Gaga need to be in the movie yes she gives you she gives you art she gives you she was giving you art
Starting point is 01:02:57 you are so confident for someone who has not seen this movie I saw her documentary but did you see the movie that bitch was giving me drama in her documentary no I believe in her
Starting point is 01:03:06 she's very good I see her she was in America Horror Story yeah she's great I know that she gets Cindy your volume
Starting point is 01:03:13 can we turn Cindy's microphone down because my ears hurt she loud she loud and raw she's great she's giving us drama and looks it's like sis did you see this film that we're talking about we didn't need
Starting point is 01:03:29 marie that's new merch i just remembered jay-z and beyonce's art pop oh my god do we learn anything about greece oh god i'm sorry this is my bad no no no no this is the this is the perfect listen i can't help it if i'm like too interesting no no no it was good I wanted to talk I like talking about Pop stars with you We brought up Lady Gaga
Starting point is 01:03:58 How do you feel about her You know what I'm gonna introduce you To Greek pop stars It's a whole other world Okay I'm here for that How do you feel about Lady Gaga as a performer
Starting point is 01:04:05 As an artiste I love Lady Gaga But I think she needs Another hit album Oh what was her last Well wasn't she doing Like the duet with the Right that's the thing
Starting point is 01:04:17 I don't She was doing like Classics I understand why She did that I don't understand Why she did that why does she do that
Starting point is 01:04:24 because it's like I feel like her whole project is like kind of putting her own spin on various like pop cultural things
Starting point is 01:04:32 slash pop music tropes you know what I mean and like she bored I get why she did but I just like I know this is so cliche
Starting point is 01:04:39 but I do want just like another like fame monster yeah like a pop album yeah like this this is why we subscribe to you
Starting point is 01:04:46 she said I ain't putting meat on my body no more she's like I don't want to wear those fucking costumes I want to do something different
Starting point is 01:04:52 She's still kind of wearing them costumes. You saw that giant Marc Jacobs suit she had on? Oh, I love that. But she could still go to work in that, though. She ain't got to go to work. It's a real men's... Work, work, work. She gave me real men's warehouse.
Starting point is 01:05:06 Like, they suits like that. It don't fit. It ain't tailored. You're going to like the way she looks. I guarantee it. I don't know. You know, sometimes you do something for a while. You want to switch it up.
Starting point is 01:05:17 But you got to remember that your core fans liked you for the thing that you used to do. yeah that's those unofficial expert fans we try and do something different y'all we in a studio now yeah but we're doing the same the same exact terrible thing i feel like we're trying to give more informative uh podcast talk now are you this was very informative i thought i think we learned a lot george we know that you got plans after this yeah we know that how do you say that you were getting you're still fat i see wait what you're still fat i see oh oh oh i thought i was like okay george was like damn i'm working through something we heard about that yeah you got two nanas yeah that's right we learned about greek food we learned about living in a commune and
Starting point is 01:06:04 also not being hired for the thing that you thought you could do at the house you wanted to be a manager of the fucking house and they were like nah friend they were like that's another gay coming like let's start you with a bathroom clean i'm here for all of it and we learned uh a selena Gomez song we did yeah yeah didn't know that we knew it and we already knew that Rihanna we're not trying to watch her right I learned that I guess not everyone loves Rihanna we love no I stand me a Rihanna but I'm not going that don't sound like you stand for Rihanna at all since the fact that you just said that I'm like oh I didn't even realize Sydney liked Rihanna I'm not going to her concert I'm not gonna see her in a desert I'm not gonna see her at Coachella
Starting point is 01:06:40 like I know that's not gonna be a good show from her yeah from her I don't have enough iron in my body to like stay up and just be there like how long was Beyonce's performance two hours like imagine she didn't take a single sip of water I feel like Rihanna for two hours is just sipping water
Starting point is 01:06:59 I feel like Rihanna would pick up the phone in the middle of her performance ah hello let me call you back it's Beyonce's Rihanna umbrella and I already know Ariana Grande can't stand in them shoes for two hours
Starting point is 01:07:15 yeah anyway thank you for being here oh my god thank you for having me you know we fuck what you heavy what's the what's the best time of the year to go to greece yeah oh um okay so i would say maybe this is now not uh not what most people would say but i would say maybe like early september because it's after the summer rush and it's a little bit cheaper but people are still there so it's not like you're like alone on the beach okay well i would say late august we're going to Mykonos for my birthday next year.
