Starting point is 00:00:00 This podcast is brought to you by Zipcar.com, earn $25 in free driving credit at joinzipcar.com slash unofficial experts. Hey, this is the unofficial expert where we don't know, but we feel like we know. Yeah, I'm Sydney Washington and I'm just Marie. Sydney, did you feel like an expert in anything this week? Yes. My expertise was not cooking a damn thing. Ooh, yeah, yeah.
Starting point is 00:00:31 Adrienne tries to make me cook all the time, and I be dodging that shit. I'm like, nah. What was the last time you cooked? I reheated some wings last week. Yeah, that doesn't count. Yeah, that doesn't count. That does not count. I reheated some wings.
Starting point is 00:00:48 Yeah, that's not cooking. I made ramen two weeks ago. Okay, I'm going to just stop you right there. I'll put eggs in it. Mm-mm. No. Nah. What was I an expert in this week?
Starting point is 00:01:01 I was an expert in not getting a seat on the train every time I hopped on the train this week. Like, you get on, you see the pregnant chick, you try to put your stomach out, nobody cares because, you know, I'm super cut up and my abs are, like, super deep. And then just trying to fight old white men for seats and losing. But the expert of not getting it, you probably are like slow and thinking and like you don't know well you know what sometimes you
Starting point is 00:01:27 think somebody's gonna get up because they have like their you see them gathering their things yeah and then they just they just trying to get a book out they purse and then the person who didn't reach for anything gets up and you like you're too far away from that seat that's when you uppercut him you gonna learn today all right so we have a wonderful guest so good oh super excited we got uh this guy is is an expert in all things hood just hood related yeah give it up for pd y'all the hope of the hood i wish there was a clap and like you guys gotta get a sound effect what's up yo this is yo first of all never fall for the pump fake on the train that's called the pump fake when they go for the book that's a pump fake because i and for and the other second of all
Starting point is 00:02:16 You got to observe everybody on the train. I'm nice with the seat grabbing. I'm so nice. If I see you and I like you on the train, like say I'm feeling you, I will get it. I will get a seat for you. I'll sit down and be like, yo, ma, yo, ma, yo, you want to sit? I got this for you. Oh, you're trying to pick people up on the train?
Starting point is 00:02:39 But nah, but just want some love, though, because I see you working hard. You know what I'm saying? and I see you, and you might not have the agility and the reflexes. You might not have the reflexes, you know what I'm saying? You might not have the Subway IQ it takes, because that's, it's called Subway IQ, you know what I'm saying?
Starting point is 00:02:54 It's very, like, last, and then you gotta know the stops. Like, last night, I was on a 7, right? So, it was an express. It was about to hit Queensborough. I'm like, somebody's getting up. So, what I did was, I was posted up on the door. I knew the door opens on where I was posted up, so I got
Starting point is 00:03:10 to the other door, right? And then I just excuse me i waited and i seen like some people like doing what you said they was doing like pump faking i was like nah and then like all the way on the other side once the train stopped and the doors open i seen like three indian chicks get up yo i fucking like the way i got to this seat was so smooth like i did it like i didn't even walk straight to the seat like i did but like i maneuvered like i spun to it you know i'm saying like like my back was so it was like i came like this and then my back was like like my ass went
Starting point is 00:03:44 right into the seat like too much. Then I boxed it out because I saw two other people was coming and sitting Petey, what sneakers were you wearing? Yeah, what kind of kicks did you have on? I had on the New Balances. Wow! Wait, are New Balances in the hood now? Yo, they've been
Starting point is 00:04:00 in the hood. Where y'all been at? Really? Ever since high school, the 574s was big in the hood. See, that's what a lot of people think. A lot of people that's not in the hood and don't know, like we've been stealing white people's swag for the longest, but we make it hot. Ralph Lauren, that's
Starting point is 00:04:16 not for black. You've never seen We Hot Now. You mean Polo Associates. No, USPA. I'm talking low. I'm talking Ralph Lauren. Big ups to Ralph Lipschitz. I thought it was just Ralph Lauren. It's an American designer.
Starting point is 00:04:32 Ralph Lauren. His last name is Lipschitz. It's actually Ralph Lauren's Tate. I don't know if you guys knew that. His last name is Lipschitz, though, in real life, because he's Jewish, but he didn't want people to hate on him, so he was like, fuck, give him Lorraine. Probably a bitch he used to like back in the day. Well, of course, Petey knows about Polo. Polo is big in the hood.
Starting point is 00:04:52 That's what I'm saying. We always, like, that's what I'm saying. Like, so, the only things, even a few summers ago, we was rocking fucking boat shoes in the hood. And you, everyone looked awful. Wait, wait, wait, wait, wait. Were they Prada boat shoes? Nah, these was, we talking Sperry's.
Starting point is 00:05:06 Sperry's. We talking Rock Post. I've never seen a hood dude in Sperry's. Come to the hood, yo. Come on, Tam. Now, what is the outfit? What's the rest of the outfit? You got the boat shoes on.
Starting point is 00:05:13 We just doing denims and maybe like a nice little shirt. Nothing too crazy. Denims. Denims. Little denim, little jean. Little Gap denim. Absolutely not Gap. Absolutely not.
Starting point is 00:05:23 You know how bad I wish Gap and Old Navy would figure out the hood cut? The Gap is not in. You ever throw an Old Navy? I'll try it because I'm on the budget. I'm not balling, so I'll be like, fuck it. Let me see. Maybe I could go. Like, these right here, cargo shorts, cargo pants, Old Navy all day.
Starting point is 00:05:41 Yeah, Old Navy is really going to hurt. But, like, once we get into denims, nah, you got to go find something. You got to go Levi's or some shopping. Levi's. Nigga, you throw those on, you be looking like rock and shit. Like, Eleanor. Like, you look like you a garbage man or some shit. Like, you fucking coach a junior high school basketball team.
Starting point is 00:05:59 Let's go through some companies. J.Crew? Sweaters. Okay, J.Crew sweaters. We could do a little sweater, like Sunday swag. Ooh, I might hit you with a little canary. Ooh, with these glasses. Banana Republic.
Starting point is 00:06:11 A little canary. Banana Republic, good cologne. Oh, okay. Cologne, pop it. Now, what about the Zara? Never fucked with the Zara. I don't fuck really with the new shit, like Zara. Zara's not new.
Starting point is 00:06:24 Zara's been around. Yeah. I mean, it might be new in the Bronx. Yeah, in the Bronx, we never knew the Zara. We just got an H&M in the hood. Oh, yeah, actually. So, Petey, how long have you recited in the hood? My whole life.
Starting point is 00:06:36 I took a break for, like, maybe, like, five, six years. I moved out to Miami, but it was still very hood. Yeah, Miami's a different type of hood. It's just got a beach. Well, no, no, no. Miami's a hood where people wear, like, white linen. Yeah. Well, when I lived on the beach, it was the beat.
Starting point is 00:06:52 It wasn't the hood. Like, I'm talking Versace linens, you know what I'm saying? Versace linens. I'm talking yellow denims, you feel me? I'm talking fucking Porsches and fly shit Ducatis Were you wearing
Starting point is 00:07:03 Silk fabrics Nah I had loafers though I fucked with the loafers Heavy moccasins That was my shit So when you go to the beach No sandals

Starting point is 00:14:27 Even if you just buy something for a quarter. And always, you know what? Hood etiquette, how you get, I always ask the dude behind the counter what his name is. That's like me being nice. Yeah, but see, that's not hood etiquette. Like, anywhere that you go, if you ask the person their name, they feel like... No, I'm saying in the hood, though, you're like, yo, Ak, what's your name, yo?
Starting point is 00:14:46 He's like, Sariq. You're like, what? Sariq? What? You call him Ak anyway. And then you just make up a name for him anyway. You're like, hey, yo, Safleek. What up, nigga?

Starting point is 00:17:28 saying to people on the streets right now? What are you saying? I'm not saying shit. Okay, so what are people saying to you? But if you were saying something, what would you say? I'd switch it up. Because, like, everybody say, God bless you. I'd be like, yo, peace be with you, ma.
Starting point is 00:17:39 Ooh, ooh. They'd be like, ooh, damn, he just blessed me? Peace be with you. He just gave me peace to go. Oh, my God. Because it said, be with you. Be with you. Like, be gone.
Starting point is 00:17:52 You know what I'm saying? But it's like, peace be with you along your journeys in life. That's deep. So that's your opener. If she stopped, what'd you say next? What's your follow-up? Yo, you know what's so crazy? Niggas in the hood is not even prepared for follow-ups, because we already know you're
Starting point is 00:18:06 not stopping. That's like you see a superstar, you're like, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. Then she turns around. Then you go back to your mans, you're like, yo, you seen that motherfucker right there? Ooh, yeah, she want this dick. She just feel nervous about pulling over on the Ave and, you know, everybody seeing her. Yeah, why do guys in cars in the hood do that? Because, oh, that's different, though.

Starting point is 00:19:12 a better day to me. And then she gonna move accordingly. It's all strategy, baby. That's all it is. She gonna move accordingly. This guy ran up on me and my sister the other day, and he was like, hey, excuse me, can I take you out sometime to get a tea or a coffee? Oh, that nigga's corny. Starting point is 00:22:33 The next day we woke up and I was like, did you turn down 10 G's yesterday? Y'all spent the night over there? Yes, we spent the night. I slept on the couch. Your friend was giving it up to Cheddar all night. She came home looking all cheesed up. She didn't take the money. No, she didn't take the money.
Starting point is 00:22:51 You don't know about it. She took the money, took the Cheddar. She took it. She got the Cheddar. She just didn't share it with your ass. Yeah, she got the cheddar all in her mouth. She had cheddar like dripping from her earlobes. Velveeta.
Starting point is 00:23:00 She had Kraft. Okay, what's like a public place in the hood that people usually have sex in? Oh, everywhere. Park, roof. Like what's the top three? Roof, staircase, park. In that order. In that order.
Starting point is 00:23:17 Like if you can't go to the roof because people are already there, then you got to go to the staircase. Yeah, you settle for the staircase. Especially, like, if you live in a big building, like 26 floors. I live in my building with 26 floors. It's going to be a staircase open. 26 floors? What floor you live on?
Starting point is 00:23:31 Four. Oh, that's good. That's good. Nigga can walk. Petey, where did you lose your virginity? In my mama house. In the house? In the house.
Starting point is 00:23:41 On a couch or on a bed? On a bed. My moms came through, too, when the first time I ever was. It's so funny. The first time I was going to smash, my moms came home. Because I was doing the chat line shit back in the day. Oh, yes, me too. Welcome to Raven.
Starting point is 00:23:57 Yes. Welcome to the Raven. I would change my voice like every day. I would have a different. I was never on a chat line. Yeah. I mean, because you. So how did this work?
Starting point is 00:24:07 Oh, so Shorty came through. My man, actually, I wasn't good with it. I didn't have game. My man bagged the Shorty off the line. She came to the BX, to the crib. So we there, whatever. I never had sex before. I'm like 14.
Starting point is 00:24:21 I'm like trying to put a condom I don't know how to put a condom on you didn't watch that health lesson where they roll it on the banana nah we didn't have that in the hood they just was like yo get out there and fuck y'all figure that shit out nah but Shorty was from Harlem so I guess she had more experience
Starting point is 00:24:37 oh she knew what she was doing yo she put that shit on like with her mouth nah she didn't do it I don't remember that shit nah so then boom so then like yo she's about to get on top of me and yo my mom kicks the door
Starting point is 00:24:52 and like boom what the fuck y'all doing you think your mother had it in her like she felt something was going down her spirit in her diaphragm she was just off from work early that day or something like that and you just didn't realize that she was home no she came home like from work
Starting point is 00:25:07 cause I cut school that's what I would do I would never go to school I would just cut and chill at the crib as soon as she came in she heard she was in there she was upset and then she told me like, all right, whatever, whatever, yelled at the girl, and then she was like, walk her to the train, whatever. Walk her to the train.
Starting point is 00:25:23 That was a good mom. But then guess what? So then I fucked her the next day. At the crib. Yeah, because I was like, yo, we too broke for my mom to take two days off. You know what I'm saying? And we spent the next day in a glove.
Starting point is 00:25:36 What size bed was you on? It sounds like, I feel like it was a twin. It was like a hood bed, probably like a fucking single. I don't even know. It was a small ass bed, though. It was like my childhood bed. Yeah, I lost my virginity on two twin beds, too. They pushed her together
Starting point is 00:25:48 One pillow though The ambitions of a fool One pillow and a devil And it wasn't real Those real sheets It was like the real thin ones From the Threadbare
Starting point is 00:26:01 You had the hospital sheets Pretty much She got the hospital I had a dude's mom Walk in on Not she didn't walk in on us We had just finished And she was like
Starting point is 00:26:11 My mom's here He was like get dressed Take your stuff Just wait outside And I was like You just got here And I had to do that So I came back in
Starting point is 00:26:19 He was like, hey mom, this is my friend Marie And his mom was like, mm-hmm Yeah, I smell that pussy juice in the air She was like, mm-hmm Smell that fuck smell She just got here Yeah, mom's pulled out the thermometer Like, oh, it's humid in here
Starting point is 00:26:34 It's humid in here She tasted the air and everything She was like It feels like she's been here for three hours I smell like dick and puss dick and puss. Sounds like Marie Beningham for 45 minutes.
Starting point is 00:26:47 Mm-hmm. All right, so. So you lost your virginity. Yeah, I lost my virginity. Craziest thing that's ever happened to you in the hood. Craziest thing?
Starting point is 00:26:58 Fights. I want to know about the fighting. Fighting? I'm not a fighter. No, I don't want to know that. I just want to know what's the craziest thing
Starting point is 00:27:03 you've seen in the hood. Have you ever seen like- I've seen mad shit. I've seen a lot of- I've seen a dude jump off the roof before. Wait, jump off? Was he running from someone?
Starting point is 00:27:12 Nah, he just jumped off the roof. He committed suicide. But in the hood, we don't say suicide. We're like, yo, he just jumped. He just jumped. I don't want to jump, bro. He's tired.
Starting point is 00:27:22 He was the one to go to sleep the long way. I seen that. I seen the dude get shot. I seen a couple people get shot. I seen my aunt get... The craziest shit, I think the first craziest shit I think I seen was my aunt got stabbed at a birthday party of mine when I was like seven or eight. Wait, it was your birthday?
Starting point is 00:27:42 Yeah. What were they arguing about? That's what I'm trying to figure out. Who stabbed your aunt? My other aunt's baby daddy. Stop it. Her sister's baby daddy. I can't.
Starting point is 00:27:52 What? Wait, no. Did she stay with the dude? The baby dad? Are they still together? Probably. No, no, no. They're not still together.
Starting point is 00:27:58 But she got a nigga that looks just like that nigga. Don't you feel like that in the hood? Like a lot of people look alike? That's for everywhere, though. Yeah, I think that's for everywhere, too. Because I think, you know what it is? it's a certain build see people say people look the same it's a certain build of a person that looks the same it's not actually that they look the same like it'll be like say like
Starting point is 00:28:20 uh who do we say like uh like gauston christina gauston right mm-hmm i could say she looks like a million and one other shorties around my way like that that are not exactly but i mean like with the same physique oh and Slim, curly hair, Puerto Rican, feisty, doing jumping jacks when you see them, when they're just waiting on a train. Okay. I feel like that's not, I can see that. Like, could you picture Christina Galson on a heated conversation on the phone in public? Yes.
Starting point is 00:28:58 You know what I'm saying? That's like, it's like, so it's not that necessarily that someone looks like her, it's that they have the same little vibe. I see it. I feel like, I feel like you're doing it. Like, even for you, like, I could say, like, probably, I could see shorties that look like you, but it's not you. Oh, people would send me pictures of people all the time. They'd be like, Marie, are you in Williamsburg?
Starting point is 00:29:17 I'd be like, no, I'm not in Williamsburg. I got smarties for you who just walk by me. So, I see it, even though I'm a one of a kind. Petey. Talk to me. How would you get out of the hood? Because you're still there. How would I get out the hood?
Starting point is 00:29:32 By what I'm doing. You know what I'm saying? I'm going hard in the paint. You know what I'm saying? I'm seeing no limitations. I'm working hard. I'm using the hood as my gasoline. That's my fuel.
Starting point is 00:29:42 I take the pain and I turn it into positivity. You feel me? I feel like you're doing it right. So can you tell us what some do's and don'ts of the hood are? Things that you absolutely should not be doing in the hood. Yo, all you need to know in the hood, mind your fucking business. Don't be in nobody's business. That shit helped me so far in my life.
Starting point is 00:30:02 Just don't. Because people are going to fuck with you, and I don't mean it in a negative way, but like when they see you you everybody got an aura or vibe so when they see you you got a vibe you got an aura they know you stand up you don't talk to nobody really and then they fuck with you like oh i fucked with this dude yeah yo what's good where you from what do you do that's how you get respect you just gotta ignore that's not respect you say how to survive how you get respect is you gotta be a beast like respect you might gotta respect and respect's gonna come from people that you know people in the hood don't respect strangers like i mean there's a general respect
Starting point is 00:30:37 but there's not like an ultimate respect as far as like yo i fucking respect son like you might respect the dude like i ain't gonna step on his sneakers yeah that's respect oh i ain't gonna skip him in line that's respect oh i ain't gonna rob him that's respect but like as far as respect it don't exist I've never had respect in the hood even when I had like the flyest sneakers
Starting point is 00:31:01 the flyest outfit cause you gotta be in the hood yeah they could already like even here I don't have like I don't get
Starting point is 00:31:07 respect here you know who I get respect by the fucking the janitor the cleaner lady they see me they be like
Starting point is 00:31:15 salute nigga we know you don't belong in here you know what I'm saying we know not even don't belong in here we know you not
Starting point is 00:31:21 from around we know we smell you and cause like I came in downstairs, right? It's a nice building. We're in a very nice place. There's not even a doorman, but like the guy, janitor dude, it's an eye building because
Starting point is 00:31:34 the janitor, they didn't have a dude with a hat and a suit. You know how I praise everybody. Right, right, right. The nigga was the janitor in the lobby talking about, yo, where you going? Hey, watch your mouth. Anthony might be listening to this. I'm like, this is the nicest building we've ever been in. No, this is super nice, but I'm just saying, the dude down, tell him to put a suit on,
Starting point is 00:31:48 son. Nigga's got an all-purpose dude. Like, yo, we got a leak. Hold on. Let me lock the front door and check on the leak. They got to ring the buzzer. Let me zip up my jumpsuit. So as soon as I come in, because you know, also you guys had mentioned, I'm a domesticated hood nigga.
Starting point is 00:32:05 You know what I'm saying? Like I got scruples. Scruples? So listen, so I come in downstairs. There's an older white gentleman. And there's a dude that the janitor slash doorman slash, you know, plumber. So I'm like, hey, good morning, guys. And the older white dude
Starting point is 00:32:23 Just looked at me like Didn't say nothing I was like alright And then Janet the dude Was like good morning I was like see That's what it is Yeah
Starting point is 00:32:32 Yeah But you can't I mean you can't Base any of this On old white dudes No no no I'm just saying But I'm saying
Starting point is 00:32:38 In general But it's a vibe It's what I'm saying I think the only people That old white dudes respect Is old white dudes Yeah Like they don't even
Starting point is 00:32:44 Respect old white women I think if you go back Down there with those Glasses on man They might They might See you differently Yeah
Starting point is 00:32:49 But it's not You know what's funny it's not about how they see me it's about how i see them and how i treat the world i can't control how somebody sees me or how somebody treats me i can control how i am i know i know i know i'm not a dick he gotta live with that whether he's a dick or he's not and he might not feel like he's a dick so he's good whatever you think people who are assholes know that they are well i mean i'm one so i know uh i was gonna say you think people who are assholes know that they asshole they know it's funny i asked that question to someone but yeah i think they know some of them some of them
Starting point is 00:33:20 don't know you know some of them don't give a shit so you're in a hood you know how to survive hood abilities what's a dude thing what's something you have to do when you're in the hood place to go people to see like if i was a tourist and i was like i would love to visit the bronx where should i go yo you gotta go to uh to the landmarks what are the landmarks uh fucking uh sedgwick gav is that where you get like t-shirts that's cool that's where cool herc is from that's where the hip-hop started. Oh. You know what I'm saying?
Starting point is 00:33:52 You got to go to... It's in the hood, so you know what I'm saying? Watch your back when you go over there, but just go there for two seconds, take a little picture,
Starting point is 00:33:58 boop, take a picture of the building and just be like, yo, boom, that's where it started at. And then leave. And then get the fuck out of there.
Starting point is 00:34:03 Marie, that's what we should do. That's like our field trip. Yeah, we should take a trip up there. I feel like, Petey, you're like a hood dude with scruples. That's what I'm saying.
Starting point is 00:34:11 What sets you apart from other hood dudes? I feel like, What music are you listening to? Right now, I listen to hood shit, but I also listen to a little classical. I listen to jazz. Can we get a little sample of what you got on your... Oh, you want a little sample?
Starting point is 00:34:27 I'm going to let you listen to what I was listening to on the way here. Are you on Spotify? I'm on SoundCloud. My money ain't no way right, but I go. Okay, so you're using your data. Whatever it is. I'm on Metro PCS. Ain't no such thing as data, yo.
Starting point is 00:34:42 Metro PCS be like Yo you get everything you want son You know what I'm saying Shit ain't always gonna be All the way right Alright so you ready Yeah Break it down
Starting point is 00:34:51 This is shit I be rocking Metro PCS I feel like That's the hood Sponsor of the hood It is Absolutely That's who gonna sponsor My fucking album
Starting point is 00:34:57 I feel like Cricket Is catching up though I feel like It's Cricket's popping up They have barkers They have barkers for Cricket I'm gonna tell you what The thing is about Cricket
Starting point is 00:35:03 Why Cricket will never Truly be a success is I feel like Cricket got People gotta like People gotta like The naming and shit Oh you don't like Cricket Yeah
Starting point is 00:35:11 Nobody likes crickets, yo. All right, here's my ball. Here we go, Petey. This is what Petey was listening to on the train today. Wait, wait, wait, wait. Who is the artist? Is this Bach? I don't even know, yo.
Starting point is 00:35:30 I just put in fucking piano. When is the beat going to drop and I'm going to hear Wiz Khalifa? This is the beat right here, though. What is the beat? No, it wouldn't even be Wiz. It would be Kanye. Yeah, Kanye. Or like Eminem.
Starting point is 00:35:42 Yeah. Wait, now are you listening to this on the train with or without headphones? That is the true test. That's whiff, that's whiff, that's whiff. Because if you're hood, it's a speaker. You just assume everybody wants to listen to what you listen to. Yo, let me tell you why.
Starting point is 00:35:59 I was on a train the other night and a nigga was watching a movie with the sound. Dude started doing it. I just started talking loud as fuck. So I was trying to inconvenience him You know what I'm saying Like he was watching the movie
Starting point is 00:36:13 I was like Yo Yo that shit is crazy Yo And then you just start Talking reckless about people Like yo I hate stupid niggas Niggas just be stupid
Starting point is 00:36:23 Niggas are stupid son And then that was it And then Wait what was he watching I don't know I didn't really peep over It might have been something like You know
Starting point is 00:36:36 It was some action shit though Or probably like the expendables. Yeah, some stupid shit to keep a P-brain stimulated. What train were you on? I think I went on a six. That sounds like an A-train type of thing. An A-train, they like... That could also be the J-train.
Starting point is 00:36:54 Oh, the J-train. Or the Q-train. Oh, the J-train, people take their shoes off and they just like kick it up and they have like, they close out and they be braiding hair on the J-train. It's just crazy. Yo, sometimes you gotta go where they got A.C. The A.C. do be poppin'. That's what I'm saying.
Starting point is 00:37:10 It be real. You gotta have that survivability. I was on the train the other day, and it was, I got on, and it was these two tatted up, like, hood chicks with, like, four kids. They took the whole bitch, like, the whole, no one could fit anywhere, right? Not that anybody wanted to sit with them. And she was, like, cursing the whole time, and her friend was like, come on, come on. And she was like, I'm not trying to go in the world with these badass kids. And she was like, the baby was trying to sleep on her.
Starting point is 00:37:38 And she was like, knocking the baby's head off her lap. She was like, get off. Because you know what they train in them? How to survive in the world. You feel me? Ain't no time. Yo, it was a great American poet, ODB, who once said. I love his work.
Starting point is 00:37:51 He said, yo, if my daughter shall fall, I don't pick her up. I look at her and I say, get up. Let's go. He said, because I'm raising a warrior. I'm raising somebody that's going to learn how to fall and get up on their own. And I will call BCW on that, man. I will call. Oh, can I tell y'all something real quick?
Starting point is 00:38:09 I got some nephews in town right now. Three of them. Three, five, and eight. Okay. I ain't never seen some soft... Yo. Where are they from? They were born, they're from Cali.
Starting point is 00:38:19 Oh, that's why. They were in Cali. But where in Cali? By the bay. Palo Alto or some shit. Palo Alto is pretty decent. It's not too bad. They live in a cul-de-sac?
Starting point is 00:38:31 I don't know where they live, but they need to come to the hood, man, and learn how to live, how to survive like fucking young Mowgli from the Jungle Book. People say good morning over there. I'm saying people say good morning here, but listen, yo, these kids. No, they don't. Yo, let me tell you something about my oldest, the oldest one of those three, eight years old. Okay.
Starting point is 00:38:49 The motherfucker only eats chicken fingers and chicken nuggets. And my sister allows that shit. I feel like kids really like chicken nuggets. I get it. I like chicken nuggets, but I'm not never brave enough to be like, all I eat, the only thing acceptable to me is chicken finger. Get it out, my friend. He's some sort of king.
Starting point is 00:39:13 I remember growing up, I used to have to eat liver. You remember liver? Yeah, I do remember. I hate liver. My aunt used to be like, yo, you're not even getting off the fucking table. You can't even leave the table. Oh, my mom was good at that. You Haitian, right?
Starting point is 00:39:24 Yeah. See, my family from Guyana, so it's the same West Indian thing of like, yo, you- You got to eat liver. Liver and onions. I used to pick the beans out of the rice. My mom would make rice and beans. I would pick the beans out, and my mom would be like, you're not going to get up until you eat all these beans.
Starting point is 00:39:41 And she would let me sit there for like an hour and a half, and I would eat like a tiny piece of bean at a time. But we're talking about food, and we're talking about palates, and we're talking about how wise you are, how cultured you are. Domesticated. I like to say domesticated. That sounds like you wear a leash at the house. No, because it's like I used to be a thief, right?
Starting point is 00:39:59 So, I won't steal your shit no more, but I still appraise it. You feel me? I'll be like, you see, as soon as I walked into the crib, I was like, oh, okay. Okay. Okay. You were casing the place? I was like, Xbox One, all right. So, Petey, can you appraise some wine for us?
Starting point is 00:40:14 Yeah, we got- Can you do like a- Absolutely. We got to do a little wine tasting. A little wine tasting. With our domesticated hood. Absolutely. Yo, you know I like a little Chardonnay.
Starting point is 00:40:23 Some Luther Vandross. A little Anita. A little Anita. A little Anita. A little Anita. A little Anita. A little Anita. A little Anita.
Starting point is 00:40:28 A little Anita. okay so one of these is a rosé and one of these is a pinot grigio you know peanut wait why were you you weren't supposed to tell him i want him i want him to tell us which is which you gotta close your eyes and you gotta taste both yo can i tell y'all a story about wine a lot of people don't know no you gotta taste them close your eyes close your eyes not on the equipment please You put the pinky out It's in red cup So it's like
Starting point is 00:41:01 It feels like home Doesn't it? I already know I can taste the grapes Okay What are the grapes? What are the notes? These are white grapes
Starting point is 00:41:07 Okay Are you sure? Let me give you Let me give you one more Take a cup Taste like a good year What was a good year? What was the year?
Starting point is 00:41:21 I was probably like When Clinton was in there, maybe like 95. Wait, Clinton in there in 95? I don't even know when. 94. Here, here's a cup. Close your eyes and taste this other cup. This is wine, too?
Starting point is 00:41:33 Yeah. Don't be slipping no more liquor on me. I don't do more liquor before noon. I do more liquor in the evening. The sun got to go down for me to take a sip of Coke 45. The sun doesn't set until like 8 p.m. in the summertime. Oh. this is different
Starting point is 00:41:54 I feel like y'all playing a trick on me like this might be the same fucking shit no it's not though damn this is I was expecting something a different taste but this is very similar taste we putting you on right now remember it's from the same vineyard
Starting point is 00:42:11 alright which one one or two one or two what which one is which number one was what? I'm going to say the number one
Starting point is 00:42:24 was the peanut and the two was the rose-izzle. You are correct. You are correct, my friend. You are very correct. Yo, but this crazy
Starting point is 00:42:30 because I expected like, this is rose wine? Yes, it's rose wine. Prosecco? No, it's rose wine. Prosecco is sparkling wine. I don't know everything. You know what I'm saying?
Starting point is 00:42:42 What are the notes? What do you taste in that rose? This shit right here tastes like success. And boat parties. This shit right here It tastes like, um, everybody could pay the bill that you hang out with.
Starting point is 00:42:58 Everybody. This tastes like. That tastes like not asking for separate checks. Yeah, this tastes like, yo, don't worry, everybody got this. So me. This tastes like, oh, shit, is this, is it brunch already? Yo, this shit tastes like, I think it was the great American songstress, Mary J. Blige, who once said,
Starting point is 00:43:20 No more pain No more pain That's what it tastes like It tastes like no more pain I feel like you should have like Sponsorship? No, a board with cheese Gruyere
Starting point is 00:43:32 Gruyere? Gruyere Like Gruyere bombs? No Gruyere cheese, fool I don't like Gruyere I don't like cheese that's not I like cheddar cheese
Starting point is 00:43:43 I like a little pro A little swish You're all talking about A little swish You're talking about all basic cheeses right now. Very basic. See, a lot of people... Let me tell you something about the thing. Those are like the Ugg boots of cheese.
Starting point is 00:43:55 Let me tell you something about the word basic and the context of basic. Let me see. Go ahead, tell us. It's the person that makes something basic or not. I could take something that people would deem basic and make it... Like New Balance is basic as shit. Yeah, they are. Those are gym teachers.
Starting point is 00:44:11 But when I rock them, it's a whole... I think it was a great American actor, Kadeem Harrison, who played in the show. In the late 80s, mid 90s. It's a different world. It's a different world when your boy throws them on. When you put new balances on, I'm like, oh, look at Petey.
Starting point is 00:44:29 He looks good. He got new balances on, though. But my sweat, see? And then the thing in the hood, we watch the numbers, too. So if you come in with 574s, we're like, yo, you might have got that at VIN. But if you come with the 998s, the 999s, the fucking, the five joints, you're like, oh, I think I spent some money on them things. Those were the Jimmy Jazz's?
Starting point is 00:44:49 As long as you don't got the marathon, the father marathon sneakers on, you know, this because there's good looking ones and there's ugly ones like the marathon joints. Ugly. The stock ones. Terrible. But once you get a little. These are things that both me and Marie have no idea. I didn't even know that they came in different numbers.
Starting point is 00:45:06 Yeah. I thought they came in different colors. Once you get the reflective, like the reflectors be popping on it, you'd be like, oh, you got a little reflection on it. Oh, shit. That's totally fine. Yo, Petey, I feel like we need to talk about, we need to quiz you. We wanted to quiz you because we want to make you the unofficial expert.
Starting point is 00:45:29 I'm not official, yo. You know I know a notary public. We could get this shit notarized. No, this is all unofficial. This is all unofficial. Straight official tissue, referee with a whistle, chicken wing with the gristle. But when people hear, when they hear your name, though, they're going to be like, yo, Petey, he's a hood expert.
Starting point is 00:45:44 Oh, he's certified. Yeah, expert. So we're going to ask you a few questions. Connoisseur. I put the sewer in connoisseur. Okay, first question. Shoot. What is the name of the brown and green Timbaland boots?
Starting point is 00:46:00 Free from broccolis. That's already hands down. You want the chicken broccolis? You want the sesame chickens? What's the chicken broccolis? That's the green and the beige looking joints. Green and beige. And then there's the mac and cheese ones, right?
