Starting point is 00:00:00 Hello, is it me you're looking for? Sydney, I love this white long-sleeve shirt you got on. I don't know. I'm not feeling the vibes in this studio. I'm not feeling the motherfucking vibes. Sydney's mad. At the studs right now. Sydney's mad because our petty producer intern, gay lover, Andrew.
Starting point is 00:00:28 Drag him. drag him I was tall last week ah yes tall but petty we added petty today yeah tall's gone he's got his ankles out
Starting point is 00:00:37 he's our tall petty skinny producer intern he's wearing jeans that are also slacks no Sydney you're the only one
Starting point is 00:00:44 that says the word slacks they can't be jeans and slacks you're right you're right you're right Sydney we're like Sydney
Starting point is 00:00:49 what did you wear the other day she's like I wore slacks we were like dress pants slacks she's so weird haters will hate
Starting point is 00:00:58 you know y'all are not feeling me right now i'm not feeling you i wear legging snacks sydney's mad at andrew because uh he called her out for eating all his fries at shake shack shout out to shake shack this podcast is not sponsored by them but like if y'all want to send us you know a box if you can send the extra fucking fries that i ate that were andrew's send them through yes but that's a thing like i'm not saying it's a thing that you do specifically but like i'll do it sometimes you'll be like you want fries but you don't want to pay for them so you're like i'll just eat off of somebody else's thing of fries
Starting point is 00:01:30 Shake Shack doesn't give you enough of those crinkle ass fries they don't the bigger the fry the smaller the serving McDonald's will put like a bunch of them the fries in that carton well I just want to let you know I'm not in a place in my
Starting point is 00:01:46 finances where I can buy my own fries oh my god you are a damn liar if you just want to be upset at me for like being hungry and financially unstable. Sydney, you do 90 shows a week.
Starting point is 00:02:01 You get paid at those shows. It's like, it's fine. No, honestly. If you as a white man want to be upset at me for having a few extra fries. He said you ate all the fries and you left him three fries. He's a liar.
Starting point is 00:02:20 He's a liar. Andrew would not lie to me. The white lies that you tell I had like four extra fries Anywho, hey Marie The level of drama This is pilot season right here Pilot season Sydney right here
Starting point is 00:02:34 When I come, when I'm ready I did two self tapes yesterday And I'm just so proud Marie, how are you doing? You look great You're wonderful I'm good, I'm good I felt a pimple coming yesterday So I did a turmeric face mask immediately
Starting point is 00:02:49 And I woke up, pimple is gone I feel like that's the wave I never have to go to Sephora ever again. Blessed. Blessed. Look at God. Were you an expert in anything this week? I was at work every single day this week.
Starting point is 00:03:02 I was an expert at not being unemployed. An expert at not being poor at work yesterday. They bought us Shake Shack. Everybody in the, they ordered 300 burgers. And some people, some people did not get a burger. like the the the everybody in the office came to get these free burgers and they only ordered like one box of fries so you know it wasn't enough that's crazy but 300 burgers for like 200 something people i had two burgers some people had no burgers i'm like you didn't get four burgers
Starting point is 00:03:39 you gotta i had a regular burger and then i got i had a veggie burger you gotta brought a burger to the studio here from 24 hours ago that's gross that's selfish no you're selfish gross well because they had a they bought somebody was smart enough to like grab a box and bring it over for like the hosts and like our team and people were still trying to come over to our box to take our stuff they were like um can i grab one of these veggie no you can't have one of these veggie burgers. You gotta go wait online. People's laptops are getting knocked down. It was a fiasco.
Starting point is 00:04:15 Wow. Over some like... Some free burgers. They're freezer burgers. They're from the freezer. Are they freezer burgers? No, I feel like McDonald's is freezer burgers. I feel like Shake Shack is like fresh, never frozen. I don't know if it's great. Fresh, never frozen. I don't know if it's grade A beef, but
Starting point is 00:04:30 I know that it was free. I used to call my coochie that. Fresh, never frozen. And now it's wet. Now you got an icebox where your box used to be. Sydney, what were you an expert in this week beside eating all of Andrew's fries? You know, I don't know when this episode's going to go up, but, you know, still preparing for L.A.
Starting point is 00:04:56 This episode's going to go up while you're in L.A. I don't know if you guys know this, but I'm not here right now. I'm a ghost. And, you know, just trying to settle some ties before I go. Just trying to make sure I have enough clothes. So you've just been shopping? Yeah.
Starting point is 00:05:13 Is that why the sunglasses came from a trip? A shopping trip that you took recently? Actually, I did go shopping. I know you did. And I kept telling people in the store, I was like, I'm going to LA. And I don't know if I'm coming back. So if you want to give me something for free,
Starting point is 00:05:27 that would be nice. And they were like, what? That's not how retail works. I was in there talking everyone up. And they were like, is this bitch crazy? Is she going to buy something? One, because, you know, when people talk too much to the to the to the sales associates, it's like they're stealing or they're in here with somebody else trying to get their
Starting point is 00:05:47 Ocean's 8 on. They're also stealing. You look like Rihanna when she had the dreads in Ocean 8. Yeah. Yeah. And I was like talking to the girl who was at the in the dressing room and I was like, it's just crazy because like I have the body that people should just be sending me things. And she was like, OK, what?
Starting point is 00:06:03 Yeah. You said that out loud to somebody that doesn't know you? Yeah, I did. I absolutely did. Are you losing your mind? No, I'm not. It's called confidant. It's called, sis, delusions of grandeur is what it's called.
Starting point is 00:06:18 Actually, is it delusional? Because, honey. It's delusional because no one's sending you anything. I know. That's why I was saying it out loud. I was like, I should not even be paying for it. I got to turn Sydney's microphone down. It's too loud.
Starting point is 00:06:30 The delusions is real loud this morning. I have that body what if I was at the store minding my business and some stranger danger said that to me I'd be like oh she just got out the insane asylum she she just got out of the Gotham City oh my god Gotham City insane asylum oh you know what fuck you okay because people dance and prance and go out and do whatever they want and I'm always like humble like oh you know I'm so frail you know nobody loves me what are you talking about right are you having a meltdown right now what are you
Starting point is 00:07:04 what words are you what are you saying now I'm crazy you sound crazy look Andrew put his hand on his face he's our concerned petty gay producer intern
Starting point is 00:07:19 why are you concerned because you sound crazy how it's up and down oh my god Oh, someone's judgy over there. I know, I'm so sorry. You're a bitch.
Starting point is 00:07:35 And I don't have time for this, okay? I'm crazy now, Marie. Sydney, you sound crazy. This whole thing you just said sounded insane. You're like, I, you know, I was talking to this lady and I was telling her I got the body, they should be sending me stuff. But yeah, I'm humble.
Starting point is 00:07:51 And I'm humble. And I'm humble. I do have the body. And people are like prancing and dancing and Donner and Ditson and Blotts. but i'm humble and it's like what you know let's just get this podcast started because i don't know how much time we have with sydney what does that mean i don't know what anything you just said means i feel like i was speaking english properly okay yeah one more time okay let's try it again
Starting point is 00:08:20 so i was in the store shopping and i was just letting people know i'm like hey i'll be leaving I don't know if I'm coming back. I should be getting things for free. And I just want to throw it out there in the universe that, like, I should be getting things for free. And that's why I was in the dressing room having a real moment with this other woman. Like, you know, because she had mentioned that I had a nice body. And I said, yeah, I know. With a body like this, I should be getting things for free.
Starting point is 00:08:47 You keep saying I should be getting things for free. And it sounds like you robbed everybody in the store. I should be getting things for free. This is a stick-up. it's oh that's for selena's pilot she should start with that girl then what happened she laughed i did you buy anything i did buy i bought these glasses and i bought some i bought some things i bought some some pants and some clothes for some west coast clothes yeah because you can't bring your east coast clothes no because it just got this it still got the like oh i'm doing bad
Starting point is 00:09:22 the subway vibes you know just like oh the rat might have walked over my shoes type feeling pizza rat yeah yeah okay you're pitching pants pitching pants that's what i should call it no i said pigeon oh i thought you said pigeon pants i don't think you should be pitching out loud at the store that you should be getting stuff for free right you do that online okay you slide in brands dms and say hey i have a great body i should be getting stuff for free don't go in the doors and say that it's weird it sounds like they're like oh she about she about to she about to steal she is stealing in here right now slide in you know somebody like brands dms be like hey mark jacobs i got a good body you should be sending me like so does everybody else that we sponsor
Starting point is 00:10:08 okay and they actually have followers okay but be like i'm verified i got a blue check and a good They're like, that sounds like a poor person who just got verified. Oh, I'm verified. Nobody does that. The fact that you'd be more embarrassed to do it online is shocking to me because you did it in the store in person. Because you can screenshot the conversation and then show it to everyone. But I can see you in the store and record your rant and then show that to everybody. Who's doing that?
Starting point is 00:10:37 I don't know, Sydney. You had those sunglasses on yesterday you probably didn't even see. People were like, wow. You know, the judgment that's coming from the students is just overwhelming. And that's why I'm so glad that our guest today is here with the most positive vibes. I mean, just so endearing and just like, I'm so glad that you're here. OK, I truly enjoy you in comedy and outside of comedy. I think you are an amazing actress. Amazing.
Starting point is 00:11:08 Wow. Yes. Yes. yes and you have to be a good actress to be the expert in scamming and give it up for Sandy Honig thank you so much thank you so much for having me she is our scamming expert Sandy Honig
Starting point is 00:11:24 okay Sandy how do you feel about everything that you just heard you know honestly I would say Ace and he does have a body where she should be getting things for free you are getting things for free right Asos Asos Asos
Starting point is 00:11:38 Asos Asos they send stuff But I just want to ask What store you were in You were like at a Costco You're like you know I should be getting this for free And they're like They're like sis
Starting point is 00:11:55 This is a free sample These are knives You can't take these Where were you? Buffalo Exchange i'm probably 86 from there that's the one in brooklyn they were like oh you can never come back it's fine well they were like you can come back and get stuff for free if you bring us some of your clothes oh they don't even take our shit no they don't it's offensive they sometimes they
Starting point is 00:12:24 ask do you want to watch me do it or do you want to just come back and i'm always like i'm just gonna come back i don't need to know what you i'm gonna stand right here i'm gonna stand right here and watch you go through my stuff and then when you don't take it i'm gonna be like why you're not taking that what's wrong with those i think i mostly just know that when i'm bringing clothes to a thrift store they should be thrown out they are ripped they are dirty and i'm like yeah you guys are gonna buy this i'm at buffalo exchange and i'm like well you know what i'm gonna take my wares to Crossroads after this. They will buy these
Starting point is 00:12:59 jeans you turned down. And they'd be like, okay, bye. Well, let's get into Sandy's look right now. She got some jeans that got eyes all over them. You got some Doc Martens with flowers on them. I don't know how to explain the sweater. It's from Zara
Starting point is 00:13:15 and it has a lot of holes in it. Oh, okay. I did not know that was Zara. It's not Zara at all. It's not giving me a Zara vibe. No. What is it giving you? It's giving me thrifted velvet or grandma sweater or like tbt delia's like back to school delia's yeah wow yeah like a wet seal sweater yeah yeah yeah that's what it is yeah yeah well you know it's it's it's a zara find from a couple a couple seasons ago so you know it's vintage oh you know what i feel like we need to introduce
Starting point is 00:13:43 sandy also as the person who the photographer who took the photo of our podcast cover this is true Sandy Elizabeth Honig. Thank you. Sandy Elizabeth Marie Honig. Marie Elizabeth. Is it your middle name Marie? No, it's Robin. Sandy Robin?
Starting point is 00:14:00 Which I think is actually accurate for being a scammer. Yeah, full circle. So let's talk about you. First of all, you're Jewish. Yes, I'm very, very Jewish. Is that why you have the spirit of a scammer? Oh, 100%. When I tell you that my family is we we are I'm generations deep in scammers like my grandpa's second wife.
Starting point is 00:14:24 She is the ultimate scammer. And by that, I mean, she's a literal criminal. And she has told me the things that she has done. Let's get into that. I mean, how's she going to jail? No, but she should. She burned down his house and told me how she frauded the insurance company. and she thinks of this as not a crime.
Starting point is 00:14:45 She thinks of this as just like, I'm being smart. Yeah, a victory. I'm just smart, smart. Well, the feds are listening. Yeah, I know. Our thing is tapped, so you know. Well, that's good
Starting point is 00:14:54 because you can put her away. We don't need her. My grandpa is dead. She's just sitting there with all the nice art in the house that belongs to my family. Where does she live? Florida.
Starting point is 00:15:06 And Fire Island. And Fire Island. Fire Island? Yeah, because she's a queer icon. She is? Yeah, absolute queer icon. Let's get into this. Should we be friends with your grandma?
Starting point is 00:15:18 For the summertime? Grandpa's second wife. You don't call her grandma. You call her like Janine. No, I call her Jackie. Jackie. Jackie. Jackie with a Q.
Starting point is 00:15:27 Jackie with a C-K-I. Oh. Uh-huh. She dropped the E? Yeah, she dropped the E. She dropped the E like she dropped that match. Like, ah! That burned the house down.
Starting point is 00:15:37 Yeah, she straight up told me. well she's never fully admitted to to burning down the house but like we there were some things that were strategically not in the house when it was burnt like yeah you're like some nice uh you know chandeliers bitch if i'm gonna burn down the fucking house and i'm like wait the chandeliers let's keep those can we pause for a minute homes in florida have chandeliers this was a house in new york okay got it homes in new york have chandeliers oh yeah yeah oh yeah i feel like they should they should i feel like my apartment needs a chandelier it really does actually peter you've had peter on the podcast right peter got a little chandelier on amazon and put it in their
Starting point is 00:16:16 room and it's amazing i love it except the bulb is so small that it gives up no light but it looks great it looks so good yeah who needs to see when you have a chandelier exactly yeah so what did what did uh jack hay do so she uh she told me about how the insurance company would reimburse her for things that she bought so she was saying okay so we bought a grand piano they never got a new house but what she did was she got a storage unit and she got a
Starting point is 00:16:46 bought all the stuff all the stuff she wanted all the stuff she wanted but then she kept it for a couple years and then returned it so she like bought the stuff you can return a piano yeah I didn't know that wait what oh yeah you can return a piano you just have to get it out the door sandy so she burned the house down she burned the house down and then returned the piano
Starting point is 00:17:11 she bought a new piano to be like look i bought all she had she had a piano there must have been a piano i don't i think so but so then she was like okay insurance company i'll i'm buying all the new stuff but they never had a new house so she just had a storage unit where she was buying stuff putting it in collecting receipts getting reimbursed from the insurance companies and then returning all the stuff but she wait for let's talk about it she had the money though she had the money to buy all this shit to get reimbursed see a nigga like me will burn the house down and then that's it i don't have nothing else oh leah let me go buy uh this piano with what money well they might have gotten money from the house burning down from their insurance that sounds like
Starting point is 00:17:53 it's gonna take some time though to get that money yeah i mean she's old she ain't going anywhere no she's gonna hang out in fire island for a few weeks exactly she's fine so it's in your blood yeah although she yes it's it really is it's like a jewish it's just pulsing through my body me and my brother master scammers we are i mean oh let's get into some of this what's the craziest thing or the craziest scam that y'all have ever pulled well i'm in the middle of one right now oh and so just say allegedly when you're yeah allegedly i'm gonna i'm gonna say allegedly allegedly and I'm not going to say the brands and I'm not going to say what. OK, but let's just say I had a coat catch on fire and it was a lot of fire in your life.
Starting point is 00:18:33 Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. You had a coat catch on fire. I had a coat catch on fire. Were you at a bar? No, I was at a Groundhog Day in Pennsylvania. That's so specific that if you said that to me, I'd be like, you're lying.
Starting point is 00:18:47 That's like a lie. Yeah. No. How does the coat catch on fire? So it was like two degrees. so there were a bunch of these space heaters that were outside and I was standing near one and then my coat just caught
Starting point is 00:18:59 on fire okay that's fine that's real yeah but that happened it did happen and so I'm saying okay me and all my friends are all standing around this fire no one else's coat caught on fire I wasn't on the fire I wasn't on the
Starting point is 00:19:15 fire and I go ah that is a faulty product faulty product I was standing a reasonable distance from the fire, and it caught on fire, and I could have died. I could have died. Did you have to stop, drop, and roll? I did not. I didn't realize it, actually.
Starting point is 00:19:35 She just threw the coat off. That's all she did. Well, it just kind of got a little charred, and there was a lot of snow. It just kind of rolled over. Somebody threw the groundhog at your coat. They were like, dry it. Stop it. Phil, protect her.
Starting point is 00:19:47 Phil would do anything for me. He would. He's a good one. I'm going to Google groundhogs because I feel like they're like fatter raccoons. Yeah, they're kind of like fat. They're kind of like beavers. They are like beavers. They've got the big teeth.
Starting point is 00:20:00 Yeah. I just don't like the way they handle them. You know, they don't they shouldn't be handled like that. A dude in a top hat should not be handling groundhogs like that. Yeah, they're small. Yeah, they're like, I don't know why I thought they were so big. I think they can be big. though. Their teeth are gross. Phil is big.
Starting point is 00:20:22 Yeah, Phil's a big boy. Phil is thick. Phil's a big, big, big boy. He can wear Fashion Nova. He can wear Fashion Nova. Okay, so what are you going to get from this coat situation? Well, I just want
Starting point is 00:20:37 a new coat. But I can't, so I was like, I had kept the tags on the coat because I was not sure. Oh, Sandy. Because I wasn't sure if a coat was warm enough because I bought it specifically for this trip so i had a burnt coat with the tags i was like i can't i was like i can't really return this to the store they're not gonna let me bring back a burnt coat so i
Starting point is 00:21:00 filled out like a warranty thing and was like uh yeah like is this canada goose uh no i'm not gonna say the brand so north face i uh respectfully declined to comment okay yeah at this at this moment I respectfully decline to comment oh you should definitely get your get your coat because and it was new and it was it was brand new everyone else was standing around and no one
Starting point is 00:21:28 else's coats combusted yeah no one else caught on fire also I'm sorry bonfires in the winter you should be your coat should be able to withstand heat because what if you're near a fire or fireplace what if you go skiing and you throw your coat on top of the pile on the couch exactly
Starting point is 00:21:44 and you know the money that you're spending I mean, yeah, it was like... Coats are expensive. They're very expensive. And the thing is, I had never spent good money on a coat before. But I was like, I'm going to Groundhog Day.
Starting point is 00:21:55 It's going to be zero degrees. I'm going to be outside for like five hours. I have to like throw down and invest. And that's why I kept the tags on because I was like, I don't know if it's going to be warm enough, but like if I'm spending this much money on a coat, I want to make sure it's the warmest.
Starting point is 00:22:07 So like maybe I'll get a warmer one. No, no, no. You knew damn well you was going to return that year right after Groundhog Day. You were like, I'm going to wear it because it needs to be warm. and then you were like and then I'm gonna return it
Starting point is 00:22:17 when I get back because I'm not gonna be standing outside that's absolutely right because you know I don't need a coat like that in New York when am I outside
Starting point is 00:22:24 in the winter in New York for like five seconds for hours for hours thoughts and prayers I really hope that that comes through thank you
Starting point is 00:22:31 so I sent it out I haven't heard back yet but you know you gotta just do what you gotta do you gotta go on Twitter you gotta go on Twitter you gotta go on Instagram
Starting point is 00:22:39 tag the brand and you know you verified now so this is perfect perfect timing friend you're right Take a picture of the coat, tell a story of the coat, do a little Insta stories and be like, I can't even believe I'm traumatized.
Starting point is 00:22:53 My brother is really, he like wrote me out a whole thing of what I should say, where his whole thing is always saying, I have been a lifelong supporter of your brand. I always buy from you and I am appalled at the quality that I was, that I received. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Like really pulling that shit. You gotta hit them with the lifelong. Yeah, I am a lifelong supporter. I can't back that up with any receipts or any proof. Absolutely not.
Starting point is 00:23:15 I mean, you know, the coats last so long. Yeah. Yeah, but see, say for instance, if I'm like reading this and I'm the client, I'd be like, I hate when people throw it. Ain't nobody told you to be a lifelong customer? That mean our shit is that good that you wanted to be a customer that long? Right. But I'm not going to use your product no more because I legit almost burn to death
Starting point is 00:23:35 by wearing it. Buy and die. Yes, but you're not. But you are not the PR for a brand. No. You got to tag them on Twitter because that's where they'll respond the fastest. Twitter's the best. And then you got to tag them.
Starting point is 00:23:51 You do something on Instagram. Have you guys ever done one of those like public like at Delta Airlines? How dare you? Yeah. How was that? 100%. I tried to cancel the flight and I had to pay like an extra $300 to change it or something stupid like that. And I was like, I am, I cannot believe the service that I'm receiving from JetBlue at JetBlue or whatever.
Starting point is 00:24:11 and I don't feel like anything good happened. I think they gave me some miles or something. I was tweeted at them, but kind of as a joke that I just was like, I was too cold on your flight. Can you give me money? They didn't, but it was kind of a fun trick. I did one time.
Starting point is 00:24:27 See, here's the thing is I'm good at doing the scam, but then when it comes to actually demanding stuff, I like pull back because I feel like I'm Jewish, but I'm also a Jewish woman. So I'm like, I'm sorry, I'm sorry. so the i i got a concussion from a flight and felt bad about demanding money yeah and i wait what happened so it was like uh really really bad turbulence and oh that's god girl i was like we don't have no control that's the sky that ain't that's the god that y'all killed
Starting point is 00:24:57 that's why you got a concussion because god don't like oh my god yes that should be on a shirt i don't like juice okay so merch so you're on a flight what airline uh american airlines yeah that's that feels right they got rickety planes yeah so i'm on the flight i'm with my friend who also got a concussion because we both were like what the fuck is going on like it was so crazy for so long the pilot didn't say anything which is like why do they always talk the entire flight when there's nothing to say And the second you're like going down, they're like, yeah, they're like, good evening, folks. The temperature at the destination is.
Starting point is 00:25:39 And you're like, I don't care. Well, my friend who's a stewardess said they literally if the plane was going down, they're not going to tell you because they don't want it to be chaos. Yeah. It's just going to go down and you'll figure it out. You're going to stay down. You'll realize we are going down. When the masks come down. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:25:57 That's when you know. The masks did not come down. but it was such a bad turbulence that like my friend and I were so sick after and for days we were walking around like cross-eyed like what weak bodies y'all have
Starting point is 00:26:10 do a reenactment and for the listener at home my eyes are crossed and my head is shaking she looks real Michael J Fox my eyes are quaking he listens to the podcast i thought you got a concussion because it was such bad turbulence that like your head
Starting point is 00:26:35 smashed in front of the no it was literally like because i went to a doctor because for weeks i was like i couldn't think and i was like i like really hot and then really cold and like i had this headache and it was like insane and so i went to a doctor and she was like yeah you have a concussion i was like but i didn't hit my head and she was like no a concussion is like your brain hitting the side of your head so if you get shaken enough
Starting point is 00:26:59 your brain is like rattling around in your head that's what it is friend we learned something there look at us the unofficial expert
Starting point is 00:27:07 of concussions you can get a concussion without even doing anything let me concuss you girl yes sis you're gonna get a concussion
Starting point is 00:27:16 my dick is gonna give you a concussion and you're like actually no no thank you I have stuff to do this week
Starting point is 00:27:22 I have a really big presentation wow wait but so then it came to like i because i was like okay this is bullshit i i couldn't like work i couldn't do anything and um so i was like okay i'm gonna demand something but then i wrote them and was like i got a concussion from your flight how dare you i had to miss work i'm a freelancer like what the fuck you were at work i was at work i was home and uh they were like we can offer you a hundred dollars off another american airlines flight and my dumb woman ass was like thank you so much that's so great meanwhile that means i have to fly american
Starting point is 00:28:04 again and i still have to pay for a flight yeah oh no i could have demanded so much more i could have been like i'm gonna sue your ass for whatever the fuck yeah yeah yeah wages lost yeah wages lost You got to get a voucher and shit. Jaws, drabs that you turn to. Yeah, a voucher. I got to get that voucher. I know. Damn, Sandy.
Starting point is 00:28:24 You're not really good at scamming at all. Yeah, but I'm good at taking the initiative. And that's really what counts. Okay. Not really. Do you remember the first time you pulled a scam? Or tried to pull a scam? Like, what was a young Sandy trying to scam her way into or out of?
Starting point is 00:28:42 I feel like you could be a scam in a relationship. Like, I feel like you could have a whole relationship but have no feelings for someone. Sandy? Yeah. Yeah, I'm unfortunately plagued with being my mother who has been married twice and just doesn't give a shit. She just, like, doesn't need anyone in the world. I love that. She just doesn't need anyone.
Starting point is 00:29:03 But she's a doctor, yes? She's a doctor. Oh, great. Your mom is basically me. That's what I was going to, I was like, that is Marie Faustin. Yeah. Doctor. Doctor.
Starting point is 00:29:12 She has a boyfriend she's been dating for, like, 15 years. dead man yeah she's got a dead man they don't live together they don't live together nope and she's like I could walk away at any time that's scary what's your mom's name Barb that's
Starting point is 00:29:27 psycho I know it's a little psycho but then I have that in me where I'm like I don't need anybody I could walk away at any time I'm my own woman but you have a man I do I've been dating my boyfriend for three years but
Starting point is 00:29:37 we don't live together and you can walk away at any time do you really feel like that I don't want to say I mean it's just you don't want to say on the podcast it's not it's not that I could like walk away it's just like I don't feel like I as much need someone yeah as people feel they need people yeah do you know what I mean yeah I do Sydney do you know what she means Andrew yeah yeah like my mom is like I'm a doctor I make
Starting point is 00:30:07 money my boyfriend is a union crew guy on tv shows he has no money saved damn sandy are you dragging him or your mother dragging him i'm dragging him through her and you know keep it in the family keep it in the family he's great he's very funny he's very fun but she's just sort of like you know what i'm not marrying you you don't get my money you don't get my house how much money your mother got because that's a lot of money she's a doctor she's a doctor I love this. I love your mom. Oh, she's amazing.
Starting point is 00:30:38 She's a surfer. She's in Costa Rica right now for three months. Living her life. Costa Rica. Not with her man. She's not with her man. He's there now. But he won't be staying the whole three months.
Starting point is 00:30:46 Right, because he's got to go to work. Yeah, he's got to go to work. He's a union guy. Yeah, he's like off in between his jobs, and then he's going to come back and do the new Sopranos movie. What? Is there a Sopranos movie coming out? Uh-huh.
Starting point is 00:30:57 Wow. A Sopranos prequel. Well, yeah, it sounds successful. Yeah. He sounds like a good guy. Yeah. They have a perfect relationship for what they need Because also he's very grumpy
Starting point is 00:31:08 And he like can't be with anyone So it feels like a perfect You're not allowed to be grumpy and poor That's true And be my man Because if you're grumpy You're just going to be like But you know what he can do
Starting point is 00:31:22 Since he's a set guy he can build anything So he basically just like He can do literally anything He can build a table, he can build a house It won't stay up He can do everything except receive a big check. I mean, wowzers. I felt that in my soul.
Starting point is 00:31:40 What's his name? Joe. Jim. Joe. I feel that Joe. Joe. I knew something with a J. Jim, Joe, Jane.
Starting point is 00:31:49 Jarrett. Jer. Jer. Hilarious. Okay, so your mom. You learned scamming from your mom? Or you learned how to like detach yourself kind of from your mom? I think a little bit, yeah.
Starting point is 00:31:59 yeah because to be able to scam you kind of like not you can't have apathy you can't really care yeah you got to just do it yeah see i don't look back is it apathy or empathy you have to have apathy also i didn't know those were two different words until you just said that you learned something new i feel like those words they don't mean the same thing nope what do they mean empathy is uh when you can feel bad you can relate to other people so what's apathy apathy is like i don't give a shit so when you apathy is empathy it sounds like one word means what the other word is yeah apathy is like you have no empathy okay so they're um antonyms yeah okay sure there we go antonyms uh yeah i feel like my i feel like west indians love a good scam yeah like love a good
Starting point is 00:32:51 scam my uh my dad got hit by like uh he was at he was doing a job for his his work he was like running errands for his boss or something and a truck hit him oh like rear-ended him and my dad was like he got like whiplash or whatever and he was like oh i don't want to go to work tomorrow when the cops came and my dad was like i got a pain in my neck like he didn't jump out of the car after he got after he got rear-ended he just sat in oh yeah you gotta fucking stay yeah never move yeah because i think what happens is sometimes people will just like jump out immediately just to like assess the damage of their car my dad was like this car is old so so he just sat in the car did your dad get a new car uh no he got a new job
Starting point is 00:33:41 you got a new job clap it up for Samuel Samuel getting a real scam scam leading him to other scams my daughter did he get it
Starting point is 00:33:50 did he get money from the person who hit him I don't know I think it was it had to go through his job cause like he was
Starting point is 00:33:56 doing work it was like damn something like that I got it I got it mhm mhm
Starting point is 00:34:01 mhm mhm um a lot of people love a good car car accident scam yeah like uh
Starting point is 00:34:08 I get rear ended or you know like when we were all little we got into an accident like a proper car accident and we all had to go to the chiropractor
Starting point is 00:34:15 and we were a family that wore like neck braces no oh my god all five of us like we'd be in church in the neck brace like oh happy day
Starting point is 00:34:23 anytime we went outside we had to put the neck braces on really so we'd be like can we go outside to play you gotta put your neck brace on we were just outside like playing soccer
Starting point is 00:34:31 with the neck braces on or like red light green light these like neck braces that's some fuck what's the name of that movie Little Miss Sunshine?
Starting point is 00:34:43 No, what was that doc on HBO? Mommy, Dead and Dearest. Did you see that? No. Oh, my God. It's the most insane. You have to watch it. Mommy, Dead and Dearest?
Starting point is 00:34:53 Mommy, Dead and Dearest. Mommy, Dead and Dearest. It's about this girl who killed her mom. But then when you figure out why, it's like she was the ultimate scammer. Why? Tell me. The mom or the daughter?
Starting point is 00:35:04 The mom. But do I want to spoil it for you? Okay, no, no, no, no. You're right. I feel like you do. Well, I got HBO, so I'm gonna watch it. You got HBO,
Starting point is 00:35:11 you'll watch it. I'll watch it. I mean, I will just say it is one of the few times that I have sat and watched something with my mouth open
Starting point is 00:35:19 the entire time. I just was truly sitting there like. Is it scary? Is it a thriller? Is it a drop? It's a documentary. It's a documentary.
Starting point is 00:35:25 It's a documentary. So you saw they are beige. Beige. They don't make documentaries about black people. No, no, no. Beige. But it's the most insane thing
Starting point is 00:35:37 because at first you're like, how could this girl kill her mom? And then you're like, oh, my fucking God. How could you? You can kill anybody if there's like a real. Who's you? Who you? Who's you?
Starting point is 00:35:50 Everybody can't kill anybody. But there are some people who can kill people and like it doesn't affect them. Yeah, but I'm saying if say, for instance, your your dad was like molesting you or raping or whatever and you killed him like, duh. Like I couldn't if I hear a story, you're like, oh, somebody killed their parents. I'm like I'm sure there's a list of reasons why they killed him. Do you not watch Snapped? There was an episode where these twin sisters killed their mom
Starting point is 00:36:15 because their mom wouldn't let them go to a party. She was too strict or something. She kept telling them no. So it was a built up of no's. That doesn't mean kill your mom. Yeah she better go. The kids were so
Starting point is 00:36:32 bad. Did they go to the party? I feel Imagine killing your mom and you're like, I'm senting. You're like, let's go. Killed the mom and then went to a party. Yeah. And then you see pictures of them like, oh, wow, you really went all out. You put glitter on your lids and everything.
Starting point is 00:36:49 They're like wearing her clothes. We can get them now. There was an episode of Snapped. And Snapped is a show all about like women who kill the people in their lives, like their parents, their lovers, their pastor, whatever. there was an episode this woman looks like a young hot woman was dating some
Starting point is 00:37:06 older man for his like I don't know his like pension money or whatever his medicare check I don't know whatever the money is that they get their medicaid and she killed him she killed him and was driving around in his car and people were like
Starting point is 00:37:22 is Jim in and she was just like no he went down to Miami like she said that he went on vacation but they were like he wouldn't just like leave he was this like nice older dude and then they were like well we gonna call the cops
Starting point is 00:37:38 to do like a wellness check okay and the cops came and she like wouldn't let them in like she was just talking to them I wouldn't let him in I'm like yeah yeah cut to her dragging a giant garbage from his house to like you know
Starting point is 00:37:54 in front of somebody else's house so everyone saw it yeah well yeah somebody saw her doing it and his body was in the trash that's why she didn't let him in you gotta kill immediately and then dispose of the body immediately you can't leave the body there cause it starts to smell
Starting point is 00:38:10 yeah you gotta make sure there's like backup come get this fucking body you need to be prepped she in the middle of the afternoon just dragging a body in a giant recyclable thing down the street
Starting point is 00:38:26 In the cul-de-sac. Also, rule number one, don't kill anybody in your house. You got to kill them at their house. She killed him at his house. And then was in his house just like wearing his clothes and driving his car and watering his plants. Oh, she's definitely dumb. Yeah, something was wrong with her. It wasn't planned out right.
Starting point is 00:38:43 Right. Also, if he's so nice and you're like, he's giving you his money. He just didn't fucking take his money. Right. Why you got to kill him? She wanted all the money. How much money was it? I don't even remember.
Starting point is 00:38:52 but you it's never worth the amount that you hear that it is you know what i mean yeah like people try to do like insurance like those life insurance things and yeah where it's like that money's gonna last you like a year right but it'll be like a million dollar life insurance policy but it's like they have to insurance companies don't like paying out so they're gonna investigate to be like well how did he die how long does it take for an investigation y'all know that i feel like they can stretch it out as long as they want yeah and if they're like something funny happened their whole job is to not give you to not give you the money that you deserve should he get right yeah that's what insurance companies do they be like well did you fall down the stairs because in the
Starting point is 00:39:29 fine print of the the contract it says if you fall down the stairs we ain't gotta pay was he wearing blue shoes yeah we said if you had on blue shoes you ain't gotta pay it's like tiny things like that i used to scam at work yeah yeah like if people were paying cash i'd be like well how long you trying to stay here tonight you trying to how many bottles you getting oh you trying to get three bottles you know you give me $200 cash three bottles wait so you would not charge them for the bottles I would give me whatever the bottles are actually $30 right but there but the bar is charging right three something or whatever y'all I see you have a lot of cash on how many bottles do you plan on getting
Starting point is 00:40:14 tonight? Oh you want to get three bottles I'll give it if you give me the cash for this amount the three bottles are yours. I've done it so many times. But I'm not understanding. And you just pocket the cash. Yes. So they don't notice that the bottles are missing? No
Starting point is 00:40:30 they don't know they don't know because if it depends on if it's an expensive bottle of champagne yes. Moet Vouv whatever they don't care gray goose is nothing they first of all they fill in those bottles with something else the nightclubs is a real scam the scam you think you're drinking uh gray goose you're drinking sky they're not yeah and i will tell you that that's why when you're like oh um if you order a drink
Starting point is 00:40:59 you always say what type of liquor you want because if you say if you don't they'll use anything they'll use the the well vodka yes so you well they'll do they'll get the gray goose but well is in the gray goose oh they mix it all up they're giving the the price for the gray goose but they're really saving money because it's like elixir or something like that sis stole can i get a uh tito's and tito's and uh ginger ale yeah they're like yeah what's i feel like tito's not expensive um but uh yeah i mean we're not surprised no that's a scam on a scam i love it i feel like you're the type to go to a restaurant and say you don't like something
Starting point is 00:41:37 and get something else. That I actually have only done one time in my life and it was because the food was like burnt and I couldn't, it was like every mouthful I was like, this tastes like ash. Ash. You had a steak well done? No, I got pad
Starting point is 00:41:53 dye. And it was burnt? Yeah, because when I came in, there was like smoke in the kitchen and then something else had burnt and then they brought out pad thai and it just straight up tasted like ash. And that's the only time in my life I've ever sent something back.
Starting point is 00:42:09 No, I think, Sandy, you're in a point in your life that it's time to send shit back. You think? Send it back. Any little thing that you're like, I don't like this. As customers, we're like,
Starting point is 00:42:20 well, I don't want to give them a hard time, but they have no problem giving us some shit that's old, that's been sitting on a thing for a minute. Right, right. Send it back. A hundred percent. You describe this dish as one way.
Starting point is 00:42:33 I'm tasting it in another. Send it back. You described it as this. I just didn't like it. Yeah. I don't like it. But also, this is the thing about people who work in the service industry or provide some type of service. Our friend Amina got a massage the other day.
Starting point is 00:42:49 And she said the massage was so bad because the guy was like on the phone. And it was like talking loud. And like the window and the door was open. and nothing about it was like soothing or relaxing. So when it came time to pay, she gave him the exact amount that the massage cost. And he was like, no tip? And she was like, y'all just expect a tip?
Starting point is 00:43:12 You're not going to, you're not even doing your job. You're doing the bare minimum as it is. So it's like, you're going to get the bare minimum? You're just expecting a tip, but you didn't do anything. A tip is something that like you get because, you know, like, oh, it's a bonus because you provided a service And like, you know, you went above and beyond. You barely gave me a massage.
Starting point is 00:43:33 She said that the massage was supposed to be 45 minutes or something like that or 60 minutes. And he was on the phone. So she was like, he definitely jipped me at least four of those minutes. I don't know what he said, but she didn't give him a tip. That's so funny. Have you ever not tipped at a restaurant or anything? Yes. Really?
Starting point is 00:43:50 I never have. I'm too scared. Even if it's trash, I'm like 25 percent. I'm not like that. I'm like there's so many variables that like go into hospitality. Sydney you were at the restaurant with me when we didn't tip
Starting point is 00:44:03 when the guy was like yelling at us I know I still gave five dollars this guy was yelling at us and he never even came up to give us our food he would like pass it over the railing to us and he was telling us that we were being too loud it was a hate crime food
Starting point is 00:44:18 so bad and then he was like he came over to take our order and he was like you guys aren't ready or like he was yelling at us and so we sat and waited forever for him to bring napkins or whatever and then the check came and we all paid cash except for one person one person had a card one person had a card so we paid exact exactly what we owed and then the guy with the and he took the cash while we were there and then he came to get the card receipt and he is like no tip and i feel like people who do who give the crappiest service are always the ones
Starting point is 00:44:57 that are like that will ask for the tip after yeah like if you gotta ask for the tip you know you wasn't gonna get it uh wait hold on that's not true i've there is many of times i was like was there something wrong with the service that's what you're supposed to say not just was there something wrong with the service you don't say no tip you hitting me with a no right Right. Was there something wrong with the service? This guy that I used to bartend with would be like, you know, normally it's in this culture, it's customary to tip. Oh, that's a good one.
Starting point is 00:45:26 That's a good one. And people would be like, you know, because sometimes, you know, they're European or whatever. They don't know. Well, that's when I asked, how many times have you been to New York? I'm always here. Oh, so you know you need to motherfucking tip. So you know. OK, cool.
Starting point is 00:45:40 Cool. Just, oh, you just don't want to give. Cool. I was such a bad waitress when I was serving. Oh, my God. I was I got the tips I got the tips but I was so bad because I just didn't give a shit at all yeah I waitressed at the creek in the cave ever heard of it you worked there oh sandy sandy when did you work a new development I know what the fuck the gang I know isn't that crazy so when I
Starting point is 00:46:06 graduated college I just needed like a job for a couple months and my friend uh worked there she was the manager so she was like oh you can just come waitress here and it was like before I did stand-up or anything. I just was like there, serving burritos, you know, slinging guac. Flautas. Slinging flautas. Slinging guac. Hilarious. Uh-huh. And I was
Starting point is 00:46:28 so bad at it. But that's the place to be bad. Yeah. To be honest. Right. That's like the minor leaps. So sorry. We love you, but no, we do love you, Rebecca. I just was more pissed there were these dudes that would come every week and they would get free food and they wouldn't tip. But I'm like,
Starting point is 00:46:43 if you get free food, You should tip You gotta tip But why were they Getting free food Cause they Like did a show At the venue
Starting point is 00:46:51 But they would come in Every week Every week After the like Kitchen was closed And they would Take up an entire table They would eat so much
Starting point is 00:47:00 They would leave a mess And they wouldn't leave a tip And then one time I just straight up was like One of the dude's girlfriends Was there And could tell I was pissed And they were like
Starting point is 00:47:07 She was like What's wrong And I was like Oh just that Every week they come in And I don't get a single cent But I have to stay here An extra hour
Starting point is 00:47:14 and like clean up and all of a sudden I got a 20. Well, I used to serve my friends and they wouldn't give me a tip. But friends is different. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:47:23 Friends is different. I left Sydney's job once. No tip. She was like, Once? She was like, you have to tip. But I was with somebody
Starting point is 00:47:32 when I was with my roommate. Remember? The first time I did it? No. I was with my roommate, the one that we hate. The one that had the cat. Yes, yes, yes, yes.
Starting point is 00:47:44 Yes. Becky with the Becky because the cat's name is Becky and Sidney was like you called me on it but you're supposed to do that to your friend you're supposed to be like sis
Starting point is 00:48:00 like I worked and I fed you and I fed your fat friend am I supposed to tip my boyfriend when he makes me a coffee at the coffee shop he works at? No tip him with your puss so hey you're right you're right you know what i've done headshots for him before oh and he doesn't pay for those no but you can't tip a photographer you can't you just pay them you
Starting point is 00:48:22 know the thousands of dollars they ask you wait you say he takes pictures of you no no i've done headshots for him before but it's cash so i was like okay i get free coffee for life and i get fancy drinks what's a fancy drink i come in and he whips it up oh you one of those well i don't You're asking for extra. Oh, you and Marie Foster. Yo, can I get a sandwich that's not on the menu? But I would only do that. Can y'all make sure y'all do that back there?
Starting point is 00:48:45 I would only do that to him. Because. The bitch would only do it to me. Who I'm supposed to do it to? The other, the other waitress? The other black waitress at the job? Well, Marie, he works right by our work. So we can come in and get some fancy ass drinks.
Starting point is 00:48:59 I don't really drink coffee, but I'll go in and be like, can I get a frappe mocha chocolate yaya? Can I get a mocha chocolate yaya? that's what I said that's what you meant to say that's what I said that's actually exactly what I said what I said was exactly that
Starting point is 00:49:16 he left that back Andrew he left because he heard it oh my god I just didn't sing it I just didn't sing it I want to do more scams in 2019 okay what's a dream scam you're scamming people out of like their
Starting point is 00:49:36 like into their will you scamming people uh out of their art you scamming your your way into an awards show oh that's pretty good you know i what a recent scam that i've been enjoying is getting something at a thrift store and then uh if it's like a good brand and it like breaks you go to the actual brand and say i bought this and uh i don't have the receipt because um i just don't have it and they don't return it they give me a new one oh yes isn't that a good one that is beautiful uh-huh i love it a nice ll bean coat from a thrift store and see i would not be getting an ll bean anything but you know what i mean like something like that but that's why this scam wouldn't work for us right but see yeah because the labels that we're getting they not doing
Starting point is 00:50:25 that stuff i don't know because then um i borrowed my roommate's suitcase and an uber driver broke it broke a wheel off and i was like i don't want to make him pay for this because like uber is going to make this man pay for this it was like a really fancy suitcase to me like it was to me it was to me yep and so i brought it to the store culture yeah your girl ain't got it to me though nope maybe that's a goal is to scam your way into a to me bag this year okay so what happened you took the suitcase to the to me store to me store and said well and i was like this is my bag and it is ruined and i don't know i don't have the receipt because i've had it for years and it is a quality bag and and they just gave me a new wheel on it you had when you
Starting point is 00:51:17 when you be uh demanding stuff from these stores in person you throw on like a character look and of character accent no i you know here i am pretending i'm like miss high and mighty i just come in and like um hi um i'm so sorry to bother you but um actually i get so scared i yeah on the pod oh i'm a little misconfident this is a bag this is a bag and i'm really just sort of like hey i'm so sorry but um i actually was using this in the wheel hall often um if it would just be great if you could like um you know i would love a new bag but if you just have to fix it that's and like backing out backing out of the store
Starting point is 00:51:53 now how does that work with sunglasses because I got some Celine sunglasses that I found in Miami and one of the screws came out so the arm fell off can I bring it to the Celine store oh yeah
Starting point is 00:52:08 I also found a pair of Celine sunglasses on the subway and they were so cute and I was so oh god they were great and then what happened I had them uh on a beach and someone stole them off my uh towel oh that was me but I I was in Miami and but truly uh I I was like so pissed for a little bit because I was like oh these are like fancy ass sunglasses they're like $400 sunglasses but then I was like I took these from someone else oh yeah well I found a pair of Ray-Bans at a bar on my birthday a couple
Starting point is 00:52:41 years ago and I was like happy birthday to me and then I had them for years and I went to the library last fall yeah and i left them at the library yeah and when i realized i was like oh well somebody is you just gotta pass along pay it forward they weren't my ravens someone is out there enjoying these celine sunglasses thinking like damn i really scored yeah i mine were like it was like uh on a piano in the hotel and i was like oh these are mine the person was probably standing right there when i took them I was there I saw it I was like you thief
Starting point is 00:53:15 Meanwhile if she had seen him first She would have grabbed him too It's crazy Wouldn't you have though They work at sunglasses I'm gonna get them fixed That's what I'm gonna do this weekend I'm gonna Google where the Celine store is
Starting point is 00:53:30 Oh yeah you gotta go And then be like I paid too much for these Can I get this little tiny screw here Fix it Jesus Or can I just Oh you're out of that style Can I get another one Can I get a new one?
Starting point is 00:53:42 You can have these back. You know what I did notice, though? You could go into any glasses store and ask them to fix a screw, and they'll do it. Yeah, but I'm going to go to Celine. You got to go to Celine. They've got those good screws. They've got the good screwdrivers. They've got the good screws.
Starting point is 00:53:54 Good screw. That's a good scam. Yeah, that's a good scam. Yeah, going to the store is a good way to go. You got to find the outpost. Yeah, I'm here for it. I just want people to send me things. I feel like they will.
Starting point is 00:54:10 And we're back And we're back It only took us 50 minutes To get right back to where we started I'm like how do I scam my way Into that guys Okay let's devise a plan How to scam your way into getting free clothes

Starting point is 01:02:33 came out and it's really fun I think that movie is really really fun and honestly I was just smiling the whole time Bowen Yang's in it Bowen Yang is in it? I was watching something the other day and Matt Rogers was in it. What was it? I don't remember what movie it was. Something on Netflix
Starting point is 01:02:49 and I was like wait what? Matt Rogers. Yeah. I'll randomly be watching something and Jaboukie will be in it or like Patti. That's like what this whole movie is because they shot it in New York so and my friend directed it and so I sent him people that I thought should be in it
Starting point is 01:03:04 You didn't send him us? Wow Sandy Well, that's because it was a rom-com, so it was white people. Because black people don't have romance or comedy. Priyanka Chopra, yes. Yes, token person of color. But it's a really fun movie. Bowen Zinnes, you guys know Brandon Scott Jones? Yeah.
